- 0:05Speaker 1: Trade alert. While we were chatting, here comes an interesting one.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Dalton bar Show is going to the Houston Astros for
- 0:14Speaker 1: Spencer Aarraghetty. Aragedtty left his last start with a little
- 0:17Speaker 1: foot issue. I remember it was right foot nerve irritation.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And he started off blazing through the season and then
- 0:23Speaker 1: hit a roadbump. But let's hit the other side first.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Dalton bar Show is one of the best defensive center
- 0:29Speaker 1: fielders in the sport. He has shown flashes of significant
- 0:34Speaker 1: power surges that included last year in his time with
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Blue Jays, powers a little bit down this season,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and then this becomes instantly one of my favorite trades
- 0:43Speaker 1: of the day. Why because Dalton bar Show is going
- 0:46Speaker 1: to do a little stroll over to the other Oh yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I love that barshow tonight against the Blue Jays? Sign
- 0:58Speaker 1: me up?
- 0:59Speaker 2: Wow, well, let me change my lot homer om tonight.
- 1:03Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh man, I like these big league for big league guys.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Raghetty started off so good this year, and I don't
- 1:10Speaker 4: think they were expecting them to be that ga and
- 1:11Speaker 4: he kind of carried them and kept them alive early
- 1:14Speaker 4: in the season before Hunter Brown and some of the
- 1:15Speaker 4: other guys have come back. Varshow has been a disappointment
- 1:19Speaker 4: this year honestly for the Blue Jays for what they
- 1:21Speaker 4: thought after the way he had the last couple of
- 1:23Speaker 4: years offensively, defensively is so great. But yeah, I mean,
- 1:27Speaker 4: this is a guy that can nasts other than neyord
- 1:30Speaker 4: On Alvarez, and I mean Jeremy Peney has been hoped
- 1:32Speaker 4: in the outfield.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Their outfield is awful.
- 1:35Speaker 1: This is a huge upgrade.
- 1:36Speaker 2: So anybody they get would be better than what they've had.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Running out there.
- 1:39Speaker 4: So yeah, I like this, But yeah, I mean they
- 1:42Speaker 4: had to give up. This shows you, though that the
- 1:44Speaker 4: Houston Astros don't have a lot in their farm system.
- 1:45Speaker 4: They had to trade one of their big league starters
- 1:47Speaker 4: for a big.
- 1:48Speaker 1: League player under control for a long time too through
- 1:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty nine, I believe for Spencer Arraghedtty Kratz, what
- 1:54Speaker 1: do you think of the bar show side of this deal?
- 1:56Speaker 1: For an Astros team that definitely is in the driver's
- 1:59Speaker 1: seat right now in the American League West, they're looking around.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They had a really slow start to the season and
- 2:03Speaker 1: then each month, just like a few games over five hundred,
- 2:06Speaker 1: all of a sudden, they look up. They're like, wait, Mariners,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you're still not here. Oh, Rangers, you want to sell Oh,
- 2:12Speaker 1: we have the best hitter in the sport this year
- 2:14Speaker 1: and you're at On Alvarez. Sure, we'll take Dalton bar
- 2:16Speaker 1: Show to run every baseball down and instantly also become
- 2:19Speaker 1: one of our better hitting outfielders.
- 2:22Speaker 3: They've already had, They've already had really really good defense.
- 2:25Speaker 3: So I'm glad that they didn't say, Okay, we're going
- 2:27Speaker 3: to take a slug in the outfield and you know,
- 2:30Speaker 3: we're just gonna try to figure it out. So I
- 2:32Speaker 3: love that they kept their strength, but also kind of
- 2:36Speaker 3: a hope he hits better because he may just hit
- 2:40Speaker 3: like the rest of their outfield, but he's not going
- 2:43Speaker 3: to hurt their defense, which I think Houston center field
- 2:46Speaker 3: is sneaky, one of the more tough center fields. I
- 2:49Speaker 3: get it, there's no more Towns Hill out there, but
- 2:53Speaker 3: I think it's tougher than people think with all those
- 2:55Speaker 3: Jets and Jetties, and you don't have to put Jordan
- 2:58Speaker 3: in left to try to figure out some offense out there.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Bring it back, bring it back.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Oh I love hell hell yeah, that's what I love.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Watching Lance Bergman run up the hill trying to catch
- 3:11Speaker 4: balls and fall down. That was awesome for baseball. But yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 4: I agree Crafts. I mean this is this is a
- 3:18Speaker 4: good trade. This is a win win, I think for
- 3:19Speaker 4: both teams. And again it's interesting the Blue Jays aren't
- 3:21Speaker 4: just building for this year. They're building for next year.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Their rotation is starting to come into focus for the
- 3:27Speaker 4: next year and maybe the next couple of years.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So I like this. Chandler Rome du Yeah, go ahead.
- 3:34Speaker 3: No, I was just gonna say that I think the
- 3:36Speaker 3: Blue Jays. I was just commenting on the Astros. Blue
- 3:38Speaker 3: Jay side of this is massive. I really like Spence Araghetty.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I know it hasn't gone as well for the entire year,
- 3:46Speaker 3: but to have a picture that you have three more
- 3:48Speaker 3: years of control with, I love this. This is a
- 3:52Speaker 3: great haul for the for the Blue Jays from the Astros.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah, and also also Raghetty has turned into a breaking
- 3:59Speaker 4: ball pitcher. You know they have that's a break them
- 4:01Speaker 4: all pitcher already on this staff. You can maybe show Righetty, hey,
- 4:07Speaker 4: think about this or think about that, and that can
- 4:10Speaker 4: also be a win for them.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The Astros also do not have a great farm system,
- 4:14Speaker 1: so they have to do deals like this, they have
- 4:16Speaker 1: to take guys from their big league roster in order
- 4:20Speaker 1: to talk teams into trades, or much more so than
- 4:24Speaker 1: it's the team we've been talking about. On the other
- 4:26Speaker 1: side of that, Milwaukee can talk prospects all day. The
- 4:28Speaker 1: Astros can't do that. They don't have a ton of
- 4:31Speaker 1: high end prospects that are available or even mid range prospects. Honestly,
- 4:34Speaker 1: in a trade like this, Jandler Romes told us that
- 4:36Speaker 1: all year that it was going to be difficult for
- 4:38Speaker 1: them to pull off deals. To me, this is a
- 4:40Speaker 1: great acquisition for them. Of course, it's a win. Now,
- 4:43Speaker 1: this is what we're talking about. Hey, this a Renald
- 4:45Speaker 1: You're gonna give up years of a pitcher. Some people
- 4:47Speaker 1: would think that's stupid. Let's see how the Astros do
- 4:50Speaker 1: in an American league that is looking much weaker than
- 4:53Speaker 1: it hasn't passed again.
- 4:55Speaker 4: This has turned around in the last two weeks because
- 4:57Speaker 4: the Astros were out of it, and then all of
- 4:59Speaker 4: a sudden, the Rangers and not to win any games.
- 5:02Speaker 2: And now here we go the asker's acquiring.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Did you see last thing? What crats here muted? What
- 5:08Speaker 1: were you saying?
- 5:12Speaker 3: My new lock is the Askers are going to acquire
- 5:14Speaker 3: a pitcher because they got rid of one. You can't.
- 5:17Speaker 3: They didn't have a lot of pitching depth. They need
- 5:18Speaker 3: another one. I get it, he had the foot thing,
- 5:21Speaker 3: but they're getting somebody.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Well, the selloff continues. The Mets do deal away Clay
- 5:30Speaker 1: Holmes and Tyrone Taylor, who's been smoking hot lately at
- 5:34Speaker 1: the dish, and they get the number two overall prospect
- 5:38Speaker 1: according to at least some publications for the Chicago Cubs
- 5:41Speaker 1: on the other end of this one. But let's first
- 5:44Speaker 1: cover the major league side of this. Are things starting
- 5:47Speaker 1: to round into form for Chicago. They get Tyrone Taylor
- 5:50Speaker 1: for some outfield depth, and Clay Holmes enters the rotation
- 5:54Speaker 1: for this team.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Worst Taylor going to play? That's my first question.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Well, bench, I mean, but but depth.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I mean, they have halps Azuki.
- 6:04Speaker 1: And p Tyron Taylor is a good defender.
- 6:08Speaker 4: He could come and I guess they would use him
- 6:09Speaker 4: as a defensive replacement for sale Suzuki.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah, oh for sure.
- 6:14Speaker 4: But Clay Holmes fits perfectly for this. And you know,
- 6:18Speaker 4: Clay Holmes is a perfect fit. And then we can pitch
- 6:20Speaker 4: start if they need him to pitch in the bullpen,
- 6:22Speaker 4: and listen, I just saw Craig Council, uh this weekend,
- 6:26Speaker 4: and uh, he said, we don't have a bullpen roles.
- 6:30Speaker 4: It's all about pockets and where we can best use pockets.
- 6:33Speaker 4: So they don't have a closer play. Hoolmes closed for
- 6:35Speaker 4: a while. Let's not forget.
- 6:39Speaker 1: You're saying in the postseason if he shifts that.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I'm just saying, yeah, he has closed in the past.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Well. The other thing was Clay Holmes. His he signed
- 6:48Speaker 1: with the Mets before last season, right, and last year
- 6:53Speaker 1: sounds right.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Okay, and then he's gonna add two years ago.
- 6:59Speaker 3: But okay, yeah, twenty five twenty six is this two
- 7:02Speaker 3: year deal, and he is a player option for next year.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Which he's going to decline as long as he gets
- 7:07Speaker 1: back on the mound and he's healthy. Okay, he was
- 7:10Speaker 1: really good at the start of last year, had a
- 7:12Speaker 1: little bit of fade going on, which is understandable. You're
- 7:14Speaker 1: a reliever for years and then all of a sudden
- 7:16Speaker 1: you're getting a starter's workload this time around. He hasn't
- 7:21Speaker 1: pitched for a good chunk of the year. You perhaps
- 7:24Speaker 1: don't have to worry about the arm wearing down. Clay
- 7:27Speaker 1: Holmes could start one of your first few playoff.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Games, right, Yes, I love this trade.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Because Justin Steele's not starting a playoff game for you. Nope,
- 7:39Speaker 1: Kevin Gossman should start a playoff game for you.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Edward Cabre maybe but not backed yet. Well, there's a
- 7:48Speaker 1: lot of that going on right now. They're waiting for
- 7:50Speaker 1: some guys to come back, right.
- 7:54Speaker 3: So who's this could bump out? Then? Who's bumping because
- 8:00Speaker 3: you have Boyd, you have Shota, you have Gosman, you
- 8:05Speaker 3: have homes and Edward Cabrera is coming back. I mean,
- 8:08Speaker 3: you can't say Holmes isn't coming back or is coming
- 8:10Speaker 3: back and Cabrera is not coming back. Holmes hasn't even
- 8:13Speaker 3: pitched in the big leagues yet.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Since he returned. Right, He had a minor league start
- 8:17Speaker 1: the other day. Also, David Peterson has pitched pretty well
- 8:21Speaker 1: for this team. Here's the point, there's options. Yep, the
- 8:27Speaker 1: Cubs should not have to go bullpenning through October. If
- 8:31Speaker 1: they make a run. We feel like we've got names now, right,
- 8:35Speaker 1: This was what they needed. Today's episode is sponsored by
- 8:40Speaker 1: the ASPCA pet Health Insurance Program. Kratz.
- 8:43Speaker 3: We love our pups, we do, and I can't put
- 8:46Speaker 3: Bella in a bubble.

- 8:49Speaker 3: I'll do the next best thing for her.

- 9:35Speaker 1: The ASPCA is not an insuran and is not engaged
- 9:38Speaker 1: in the business of insurance. I mean they lost I
- 9:41Speaker 1: mean Kate Horton and Justin Steele. At the start of
- 9:43Speaker 1: the year, You're like, well, those two should pitch in
- 9:45Speaker 1: October for them, Well, Horton went down, Steel hasn't come
- 9:49Speaker 1: back yet, so now you rework it. Yeah, Boyd and Monaga,
- 9:54Speaker 1: Gossman and Clay Holmes. Yeah, maybe that's that's a good
- 10:03Speaker 1: list now that you're putting together. Are you guys feeling
- 10:08Speaker 1: somewhat satisfied with what the Cubs stayed on.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I think they be nice.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I like the moves they've made. I think this is good.
- 10:14Speaker 4: They they greatly, they greatly improve their starting rotation often
- 10:20Speaker 4: I mean Homes and Goldsman right away. Boom boom. I
- 10:23Speaker 4: mean pretty good, really good. The reason I say Clay
- 10:26Speaker 4: Holmes to the bullpen is you name the names, right.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Boyd showed a Gosman and then they could they could
- 10:33Speaker 4: bump Clay Homes possibly to the bullpen, Ray and Colin
- 10:37Speaker 4: Ray and Asa too. They could use a swingman depending
- 10:40Speaker 4: on how the games go.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:41Speaker 4: So that's why I like this trade from a Cub standpoint.
- 10:44Speaker 4: They can pick and choose the true and.
- 10:45Speaker 1: They want to do and this one, I mean, we're
- 10:48Speaker 1: not go ahead, no.
- 10:50Speaker 3: No, just the best nine innings that you can put
- 10:52Speaker 3: out there. And I think I think that was the
- 10:55Speaker 3: intrigue and value from Clay Holmes because he's gonna put
- 10:59Speaker 3: He's going to have that flexibility, Asad has that flexibility.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Colin Ray has had that flexibility in his career. Just
- 11:06Speaker 3: get the best nine innings and go out and try
- 11:09Speaker 3: to out defense the other team because they have a
- 11:12Speaker 3: really really good defense too. I think. Uh.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I think one interesting thing is does this mean to
- 11:20Speaker 4: read Denvers?
- 11:21Speaker 3: Is he going to the Cubs?
- 11:28Speaker 1: He apologized to you, well, yes, to me and to
- 11:31Speaker 1: a lot of people. It's easier to do it on
- 11:32Speaker 1: social media. It accomplishes that instead of him personally calling everyone,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but yes, Kratz, I don't know if you caught it,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and you're the mediator here when a J and I battle,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but the Cubs are not getting me.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Sure's still an hour left?
- 11:47Speaker 3: One nothing still one nothing, so one nothing.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I did not fall for that crap.
- 11:54Speaker 2: You did fall for it, You and.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I did it.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I did not. I actually kind of trashed that per
- 12:00Speaker 1: and then you guys gave me apologize him, and I
- 12:02Speaker 1: was like, I think he's fucking wrong.
- 12:05Speaker 2: He's wrong.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Sorry, no offense to the guy.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Again, I don't even know what.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Okay, sorry, dude, we're wrong. It happens. I'm not blaming him.
- 12:16Speaker 1: All that happened two hours ago was me saying I'm
- 12:19Speaker 1: not saying Tach matches on the Cubs, but.
- 12:22Speaker 4: By the way they did, and they gave up Moses Byteros,
- 12:28Speaker 4: who they say is a catcher, but the Cubs clearly
- 12:30Speaker 4: didn't think he was a catcher.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I think they just gave up on him as a catcher.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I think that's what they just told us. No, the
- 12:36Speaker 1: Cubs did, I'm saying, oh yeah, Moises Spellosteros was a
- 12:39Speaker 1: pretty big deal hitting prospect. It's not like he's gotten
- 12:43Speaker 1: a ton of time in the big leagues yet, and
- 12:44Speaker 1: then they're moving him on to the Angels.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Now.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Zephyr John has I'm sure years of control, right, He's
- 12:50Speaker 1: probably got three four years left. Mark been able to
- 12:52Speaker 1: keep up with everything. Yeah, Mark McGuire's kid. But Zephyr
- 12:54Speaker 1: John and the bullpen, the Cubs have added arms. You'll
- 12:57Speaker 1: see in October major league side of this, Yankees trade
- 13:05Speaker 1: Elliot Ramos. So they pick up Ramos and Luis Garcia
- 13:10Speaker 1: for an offense that frankly needed help. We don't know
- 13:15Speaker 1: what the timetable is officially for Aaron Judge. You would
- 13:19Speaker 1: hope that he's going to come back at some point.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You have to get there too. They really struggled to
- 13:24Speaker 1: score runs since he went down to the surprise of No. One.
- 13:28Speaker 1: These are two bats that can really help you in
- 13:31Speaker 1: a hurry. Thoughts on what's going down here for the
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yankees right now with a focus on offense krats, I mean, I.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Think you're getting the best available. I think they went
- 13:43Speaker 3: out and got two dudes that hit the ball hard.
- 13:45Speaker 3: They don't really look at anything extra in the profile
- 13:48Speaker 3: of a hitter. They want the dudes that hit the
- 13:51Speaker 3: ball the hardest, and I think they they think and
- 13:55Speaker 3: I would agree Elio Ramos probably is going to really
- 14:00Speaker 3: succeed from leaving San Francisco. You're talking about somebody that
- 14:04Speaker 3: was an All Star, somebody that it's a tough place
- 14:08Speaker 3: to hit. Nobody's gonna deny it, and if you pick
- 14:11Speaker 3: it up, you get a little bit of control. It's
- 14:14Speaker 3: not a major marquee name. But the reality is, I
- 14:18Speaker 3: don't think anybody thinks the Yankees are gonna do anything
- 14:20Speaker 3: if Aaron Judge doesn't come back. So when he does
- 14:23Speaker 3: come back with Elliet Ramos in there, is he a
- 14:28Speaker 3: platoon advantage. Yeah, but you don't have to put Jason
- 14:31Speaker 3: Dominguez in there hitting right handed, which he has struggled.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He's been up a little bit, but you have a
- 14:36Speaker 3: lot of It gives your lineup a lot more length,
- 14:42Speaker 3: especially with the different platoon advantages that they try to
- 14:44Speaker 3: that they try to have.
- 14:46Speaker 1: It is a good point. AJ whenever you see a
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yankees acquisition, I go right to Statcast to the Baseball
- 14:52Speaker 1: Savant page, and I know that the top half of
- 14:55Speaker 1: the page, which is the one that has exiblow barrel percentage,
- 14:58Speaker 1: hard hit percentage, they haven't type. They very specific type.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You better hit the crap out of the ball or
- 15:03Speaker 1: they're not as interested. And these two guys that they
- 15:06Speaker 1: picked up certainly hit the snot out of the baseball.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Ramos and Luis Garcia this year for sure, and both
- 15:15Speaker 1: of them obviously, I mean Garcia is on another level
- 15:17Speaker 1: right now and what he's doing, but Ramos still, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 1: four to twenty four slug He's coming out of San
- 15:22Speaker 1: Francisco and going to the Yankees. Now, he's usually enough
- 15:25Speaker 1: tick there and then for Garcia. I mean, he's just
- 15:28Speaker 1: been one of the best hitters in baseball. So if
- 15:31Speaker 1: this is it for the Yankees, should their fans be satisfied.
- 15:39Speaker 2: They want to catch her? Yes, yes, yes, that's.
- 15:44Speaker 1: A big offensive improvement. These two guys, I agreed, Yes,
- 15:48Speaker 1: are serious impact players.
- 15:51Speaker 3: They're never going to get a catcher. They were never
- 15:53Speaker 3: unless it was an Adelie Rushman. I'm telling you what
- 15:56Speaker 3: it looks for value, and I think I think it
- 16:02Speaker 3: you picked up two guys that do hit the snot
- 16:04Speaker 3: out of the ball. You're just not going to get
- 16:06Speaker 3: a lot of zone discipline. You're not going to get
- 16:09Speaker 3: a lot of great at bats, which you know what,
- 16:12Speaker 3: if you hit the ball hard, nobody cares about if
- 16:14Speaker 3: it was the first pitch or the fifth pitch. And
- 16:17Speaker 3: so they added that I don't think it was realistic,
- 16:21Speaker 3: and maybe we'll find out later, but I don't think
- 16:22Speaker 3: it was realistic that they were really truly going to
- 16:25Speaker 3: go after a catcher outside of an Adelie Rutchman, outside
- 16:29Speaker 3: of a super offensive type of catcher that, like you know,
- 16:35Speaker 3: it doesn't bring any defense. I just I have a
- 16:38Speaker 3: hard time believing they would have go away from.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Allso okay, well, their division has been crazy active the
- 16:49Speaker 1: American League East, So I have another one for you,
- 16:53Speaker 1: as the Red Sox have caught up significantly over the
- 16:55Speaker 1: last month and change. This is a trade. It stands
- 17:00Speaker 1: out to meet names known reliever Eric Miller. He's done
- 17:04Speaker 1: a nice job with the Giants.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Moving over to Boston. Barcelo Meyer though, Marcel.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Up on the side, yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Quick because remember him? Him?
- 17:13Speaker 1: And uh Roman Anthony? Remember him?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Who Roman Anthony?
- 17:18Speaker 4: And uh? I was thinking more Campbell, the guy in
- 17:20Speaker 4: Christian Campbell. Yeah, we're supposed to be like the next
- 17:23Speaker 4: three prize prospects. And now Anthony's heard Campbell's and triple
- 17:27Speaker 4: A and Meyer's a giant surprising. See this How fast
- 17:32Speaker 4: prospects we always talk about the crowds is how fast
- 17:35Speaker 4: prospects can become suspects and be gone.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Eric Miller's good that wait wait.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Wait wait wait. Marcel Meyer was supposed to be one one,
- 17:42Speaker 3: but because the other teams ahead of him said no,
- 17:45Speaker 3: we want to save some money, we're not going. Marcelo
- 17:48Speaker 3: won one and the Red Sox, because I worked for
- 17:50Speaker 3: him that time, they were like, oh my gosh, we
- 17:53Speaker 3: can't believe he fell to us at four now he's
- 17:56Speaker 3: on to his second team right now. I think it's unfair,
- 18:00Speaker 3: but it is what it is.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yeah. But also, they just landed a guy who's going
- 18:06Speaker 1: to pitch in big moments if this team makes the
- 18:09Speaker 1: postseason in October, a left handed reliever who's been great
- 18:13Speaker 1: and he's under control for like five years.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yes, what does all in look like? Boston Red Sox
- 18:20Speaker 3: twenty twenty six, July well, August third trade deadline, That's
- 18:25Speaker 3: what all in looks like.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It's the summertime, aj and this is a time to
- 18:31Speaker 1: feel free, wild, make some phone calls that you're overdue for,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and also get some deals that you should be getting

- 18:43Speaker 4: price for unlimited talk, text and data. It's really simple.
- 18:48Speaker 4: It is one price for all the data and all

- 18:52Speaker 5: It's simple, that's right.

- 19:31Speaker 2: I mean, I like the moves they may.
- 19:33Speaker 4: They may move to try to help them win games,
- 19:35Speaker 4: not only get the postseason, but once they get there.
- 19:37Speaker 4: And also, by the way, there's a guy in the
- 19:39Speaker 4: chat that says Logan Henderson and terror School will have
- 19:42Speaker 4: the same numbers there.
- 19:43Speaker 2: That's why you don't make that track.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Oh gosh, by the way, I'm missing, was Logan Henderson
- 19:47Speaker 4: going to.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Start a playoff game for the Milwaukee Brewers.
- 19:49Speaker 1: He still might.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Okay, now is Errek Scuba going to start it?
- 19:54Speaker 1: I'm not putting I can't even entertain that question, I.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Know, but the fact that people in the chat would
- 19:58Speaker 4: actually say something like your brainwashed.
- 20:03Speaker 2: But he's not school and he doesn't bring the cash.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Shay.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Okay, So two teams that sometimes we've picked on since
- 20:11Speaker 1: our show's existence for being like these high expectations big
- 20:15Speaker 1: market teams went through many rebuilds too. Cubs in Red Sox.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Both both of them have done today a lot.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Both really going after today.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean both smell blood in the water.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 1: For Boston, they've looked like they belong in that top
- 20:35Speaker 1: tier in the American League East now right krats, and
- 20:37Speaker 1: they're showing it with what they're doing at the trade deadline.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Uh.
- 20:41Speaker 1: For the Chicago Cubs, I think right now they can
- 20:45Speaker 1: keep up with the Brewers in a playoff series. I
- 20:47Speaker 1: know they fell to them in a Game five last year.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I think they could beat them.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I mean, obviously they could beat them. I still think
- 20:54Speaker 3: the Brewers are better, but I think the Red I
- 20:57Speaker 3: think the Cubs have done what they needed to do.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I think they've upgraded in the areas that help. They
- 21:06Speaker 3: get extra value from those pitchers too, that like a Gosman,
- 21:09Speaker 3: because their defense is going to be behind Gosman who's throwing.
- 21:12Speaker 3: You know they're gonna get into throws, splitter a few
- 21:15Speaker 3: a little bit more. It's probably gonna be more ground
- 21:17Speaker 3: balls if it's not strikeouts. I think the Red Sox.
- 21:20Speaker 3: The Red Sox have proven that they want to win
- 21:23Speaker 3: this year, but the moves they've also made are not
- 21:26Speaker 3: just for this year. So they were a little you know,
- 21:29Speaker 3: they were a little advantageous in this too. They have
- 21:31Speaker 3: this year and next year in mind, and so you
- 21:35Speaker 3: hear about those netto rumors. Maybe there's something there for
- 21:39Speaker 3: the offseason. Maybe there's something there for the last thirty
- 21:42Speaker 3: one minutes.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Who knows, mm hmm. And then they probably really liked
- 21:47Speaker 1: the arm of Eric Miller. Again looking at the type
- 21:51Speaker 1: in Eric Miller stat cast, if you're a Red Sox
- 21:53Speaker 1: fan and nice it's Christmas on that page, he was
- 21:58Speaker 1: nice exit Velo ninety ninth percentile in we contact that
- 22:03Speaker 1: he's getting, but yet still ninety seventh percentile fifth percentage
- 22:06Speaker 1: and ninety fifth percentile strikeout percentage, ninety eighth percentile hard
- 22:11Speaker 1: hit like we contact, brown balls and punch outs as
- 22:14Speaker 1: a left handed reliever with.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Velo, every team we've expected to do something has kind
- 22:19Speaker 4: of gone after the needs that they think they have,
- 22:22Speaker 4: except the Diamondbacks.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Maybe, yeah, they've been super quiet.
- 22:25Speaker 4: But a lot of the other teams have done the cobbs.
- 22:27Speaker 4: The Yankees, other than Catcher have tried to fill in.
- 22:30Speaker 4: The Mets have made their moves, The Blue Jays have
- 22:32Speaker 4: done some interesting things. The Angels have gotten rid of
- 22:34Speaker 4: some guys. The Mariners went out and got a hitter, right,
- 22:38Speaker 4: I mean, the White Sox got altfielder, catcher, pitcher right,
- 22:44Speaker 4: Dodgers got scooball Brewers got a starter or reliever.
- 22:48Speaker 1: And they just got another one. Antonio Sen's it tell
- 22:50Speaker 1: another us with him, Jojo Romero and Dustin May are
- 22:53Speaker 1: the three arms that they bring in, which is going
- 22:56Speaker 1: to get criticized, but I will say it is much
- 22:59Speaker 1: more than they did likelast year.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Yes, fine, I mean so, I feel like most of
- 23:04Speaker 4: the teams have gone out and done Tampa went out
- 23:06Speaker 4: and made some big moves. Catcher check, starter check, high end,
- 23:10Speaker 4: reliever wells check.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:13Speaker 4: So these teams Yankees have done everything they can, but
- 23:15Speaker 4: they haven't obviously they haven't got the catcher, but okay,
- 23:18Speaker 4: they'll live with the other two moves. So these teams
- 23:20Speaker 4: that are in contention have really tried to go out
- 23:22Speaker 4: and bolster what they have and then the Diamondbacks. I guess,
- 23:26Speaker 4: so the one team that's kind of missing Astros went
- 23:28Speaker 4: out and got our show check.
- 23:30Speaker 1: M hm. So you like mostly what's being done more
- 23:33Speaker 1: so than most, Do you feel like more so than
- 23:35Speaker 1: most trade deadlines?
- 23:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like more teams, the more teams that
- 23:39Speaker 4: know that they have a chance, are going after what
- 23:41Speaker 4: they need. And I think that's because more teams are
- 23:43Speaker 4: willing to sell on especially expiring contracts, So teams are
- 23:47Speaker 4: targeting them and then, excuse me, the higher asking price,
- 23:54Speaker 4: the asking price I feel like is lowered. Yes, so
- 23:56Speaker 4: teams are not as as worried about geting rid of
- 24:01Speaker 4: their number eighteen prospect.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You can't sit there if you're a team selling a
- 24:06Speaker 1: rental and wait for a top five prospect, because you'll
- 24:10Speaker 1: never get them. Is that what you're saying?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Pretty much?
- 24:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean unless you have a Wan Soda right
- 24:15Speaker 4: or someone of that. Yeah, somewhat similar ilk.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Right, You're not getting that type of superstar in this situation.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Those trades usually don't happen during the season. Very often
- 24:26Speaker 4: they do, but not a lot.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, crowds. By the way, the Reds haven't sold anyone.
- 24:34Speaker 2: It seems like the Reds never.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Do say it, Crats. I mean, there's a few teams. Well,
- 24:39Speaker 1: all right, let's get to our next guest. But the
- 24:40Speaker 1: Diamondbacks and the Reds are being super quiet, but most
- 24:44Speaker 1: other teams are really wheeling and dealing.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Its a trade deadline today. They thought there was another.
- 24:50Speaker 3: They thought the August thirtieth one is or thirty first
- 24:52Speaker 3: is still around.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe they can try and wait, it's not going
- 24:56Speaker 1: to go well for them. Let's get to Jim Duquett,
- 25:05Speaker 1: former Big League exec Jim Docat with us right now. Duke,
- 25:07Speaker 1: thanks for the time, dude, good to see you. I'll
- 25:09Speaker 1: let you take the floor here first. I know there's
- 25:11Speaker 1: so many things flying left and right, Like where do
- 25:13Speaker 1: you feel the most opinionated about what you've seen so
- 25:16Speaker 1: far in terms of one trade? And then we'll play
- 25:18Speaker 1: off of that.
- 25:19Speaker 5: All right, Well, I was gonna just play off of
- 25:21Speaker 5: what Kratzy was just saying. You guys were talking about
- 25:24Speaker 5: teams that hadn't done anything yet, and it's surprising, you know,
- 25:27Speaker 5: see Arizona in particular, had been where they were on
- 25:30Speaker 5: Clay Holmes, they were on some other guys they're looking
- 25:33Speaker 5: for starting the pitching. They were looking for bullpen homes
- 25:35Speaker 5: fit for them. When when the starters came back healthy,
- 25:38Speaker 5: like Burns Ryan Nelson, they could have moved him to
- 25:42Speaker 5: the bullpen if they wanted. So that was a really
- 25:44Speaker 5: important piece for them. And they yet albid obviously by
- 25:46Speaker 5: the Cubs when they traded when the Mets trade them
- 25:50Speaker 5: there and they included Tyrone Taylor, So for me, that
- 25:52Speaker 5: aspect is really surprising. Then we were just hearing with
- 25:55Speaker 5: the Reds and I was talking about this on the
- 25:57Speaker 5: radio side of things, like, Okay, Stevenson hadn't gone yet,
- 26:01Speaker 5: you feel like he needs to go somewhere. I mean,
- 26:03Speaker 5: with all of the catchers that have gone so far,
- 26:05Speaker 5: he hasn't gone anywhere. And then now there's a report
- 26:08Speaker 5: that Brady Singer isn't going to be traded and they're
- 26:10Speaker 5: likely to make him a qualifying offer, which you know,
- 26:13Speaker 5: that's a little bit surprising too, that you couldn't, you know,
- 26:16Speaker 5: go out and try to sign him as a free
- 26:18Speaker 5: agent and take, you know, get what you can. On
- 26:21Speaker 5: the prospect side of things, unless they just couldn't get
- 26:23Speaker 5: they couldn't line up with the prospects that they you know,
- 26:26Speaker 5: quality prospects, which has been a problem obviously in some circumstances.
- 26:29Speaker 5: So that to me stood out in a number number
- 26:31Speaker 5: one and number two, the huge, huge hall for the
- 26:35Speaker 5: for the Orioles, trading Adlee for all those prospects. Now,
- 26:39Speaker 5: I am surprised that they traded him, but that six guys,
- 26:43Speaker 5: I mean that is that is a huge, huge haul
- 26:47Speaker 5: there at the Red Sox were giving up and then
- 26:49Speaker 5: they just gave out Marcelo Meyer for Eric Miller, and
- 26:52Speaker 5: you know, Meyer I felt like has more value than
- 26:54Speaker 5: than just for a left handed reliever. I know Miller,
- 26:57Speaker 5: you know, has years of control, but I mean you're
- 26:59Speaker 5: talking about it up the middle type of player that
- 27:01Speaker 5: hasn't quite hit yet, but I think I think he will.
- 27:04Speaker 5: So I don't know, those are some of the ones
- 27:07Speaker 5: that that stand out to me here just lately.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Which side do you like it? For the Red Sox,
- 27:13Speaker 3: for the with the Adlie move because you said.
- 27:16Speaker 5: I love yeah, yeah, I love ATHLEYE. Chresty. I I mean,
- 27:20Speaker 5: I I really do. I think you know, now the
- 27:23Speaker 5: problem that we have is, you know, is the health
- 27:26Speaker 5: right That's the only real for me, the real issue obviously,
- 27:30Speaker 5: you know, the last before this year, year and a
- 27:32Speaker 5: half or so of offense that have been on the decline,
- 27:34Speaker 5: and a part of that was his health during that
- 27:37Speaker 5: as well, and the bat had kind of gone quiet,
- 27:40Speaker 5: and it looked like this year he had figured some
- 27:42Speaker 5: things out again. And obviously when you have a switch
- 27:45Speaker 5: hitting catcher who also is a good, you know, good defender,
- 27:48Speaker 5: you feel really good about having that guy in the
- 27:51Speaker 5: middle of your lineup. But again, he's had a couple
- 27:54Speaker 5: of different il stints this year, and they do have
- 27:58Speaker 5: a good young catcher and Basaio, so you know that
- 28:02Speaker 5: I guess, I guess from the Red Sox size. I
- 28:04Speaker 5: like it because he's the middle of the line of bat.
- 28:06Speaker 5: It's hard to find those type of guys, especially behind
- 28:08Speaker 5: the plate, as we know. And for the Orioles, I'm
- 28:11Speaker 5: even though they got a great haul, like it wasn't
- 28:13Speaker 5: that long ago, I say, three weeks ago that their
- 28:16Speaker 5: general Manrew Michaelia said they're buying. Well, they're not buying,
- 28:19Speaker 5: they're selling, you know, And I think that that quick
- 28:22Speaker 5: turnaround for me has been a bit surprising too.

- 29:27Speaker 1: quick follow up. Actually on that, I've and you know
- 29:31Speaker 1: the OILS organization super well. Of course you used to
- 29:33Speaker 1: work in it. How do you feel Michael Lias has
- 29:37Speaker 1: done now with getting close to a decade of work
- 29:40Speaker 1: in that organization in times like this, like, I'm confused.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I thought that they were going to buy and sell
- 29:45Speaker 1: but ultimately be a better team when we come out
- 29:47Speaker 1: of this. That doesn't look to be the case. So
- 29:50Speaker 1: sometimes when I'm listening to the quotes from him, I'm
- 29:52Speaker 1: getting like, oh, well, it just depends what prices we
- 29:55Speaker 1: get for everyone eventually, like you have to actually look
- 29:57Speaker 1: at the team and be like, do we care? Are
- 29:59Speaker 1: we winning this year? Like it can't always just be well,
- 30:02Speaker 1: my computer model says, I'm getting to drop more value
- 30:04Speaker 1: out of this guy, and so I'm gonna pull the
- 30:06Speaker 1: trigger and do that deal because he does this sometimes
- 30:08Speaker 1: when they're in the mix. This year, they're in the mix.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Now you're gonna have a pretty pissed off fan base.
- 30:12Speaker 1: It's not going to go to games if they stumble
- 30:14Speaker 1: out of the gates after the trade deadline.
- 30:16Speaker 5: Here, I mean, and I like the hall that they got,
- 30:20Speaker 5: but to your point, like the fans are not are
- 30:23Speaker 5: not supportive of what Michael Liyas has done and how
- 30:27Speaker 5: the team has played over the last couple of years. Now,
- 30:30Speaker 5: you know, I said this about three weeks ago, you know,
- 30:32Speaker 5: and one of the hard and this was I said
- 30:34Speaker 5: this with you guys, one of the hardest things when
- 30:36Speaker 5: you're in that job is you fall in love with
- 30:38Speaker 5: your draft picks, your own guys that you develop and sign,
- 30:43Speaker 5: and sometimes you hold on to them too long and
- 30:46Speaker 5: then the value goes out of them. Now I thought
- 30:48Speaker 5: that was going to be the case with Rutchman. It wasn't.
- 30:51Speaker 5: They got they got a lot of value back in return.
- 30:53Speaker 5: But this rebuild, you know, you're it's a real roller
- 30:57Speaker 5: coaster because in twenty two, when they were in the
- 31:01Speaker 5: mix for the postseason, they sold and it barely pissed
- 31:05Speaker 5: off their fan base and the clubhouse. He had to
- 31:08Speaker 5: go down on the road and I think they were
- 31:10Speaker 5: in Houston at that point and go talk to the
- 31:12Speaker 5: players because he was basically quitting on the season. Then
- 31:16Speaker 5: they went in twenty three and twenty four, and then
- 31:18Speaker 5: twenty five, obviously twenty six, like it's been, it hasn't
- 31:21Speaker 5: been good enough. This window of you know, the open
- 31:24Speaker 5: window they were supposed to have is all of a
- 31:27Speaker 5: sudden closed again, and it makes you really wonder can
- 31:31Speaker 5: he put together a major league roster. He's done a
- 31:33Speaker 5: good job of evaluating prospects to some degree, but once
- 31:37Speaker 5: they get to the big league level, they're not developing.
- 31:39Speaker 5: And the roster has been a little i'd say disjointed
- 31:44Speaker 5: when you're trying to look at winning. So there's not
- 31:47Speaker 5: a lot of support there. Locally, he does it seems
- 31:49Speaker 5: like he has the ownership approval at least with Rubinstein,
- 31:53Speaker 5: but he is getting crushed there locally.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Got Jim.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Let's go to a different division. Let's go to AL
- 32:00Speaker 2: Central where it's uh.
- 32:01Speaker 4: The Guardians have acquired Foster Griffin and Joe Joe Adell
- 32:06Speaker 4: to bolster their team. The White Sox have gotten Joey Bart,
- 32:10Speaker 4: Luis Castillo, Huascar Brasi, Bond. Which one and these are
- 32:13Speaker 4: the two teams that are in the main along with
- 32:16Speaker 4: the twins for the for the AL Central. Which team
- 32:18Speaker 4: do you think has done better in today's trade deadline
- 32:21Speaker 4: in the AL Central?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 32:23Speaker 5: That that's a that's a good one, you know, because
- 32:26Speaker 5: Foster Griffin has been so good, you got a starter,
- 32:28Speaker 5: and then Adele, who I know, the last seventy games
- 32:31Speaker 5: or so, he's kind of been on the decline. I
- 32:34Speaker 5: like Adele as a good makeup guy. Right he hits lefties,
- 32:39Speaker 5: which they need in that line. I mean, he is
- 32:41Speaker 5: a guy that could play I think every day out there,
- 32:43Speaker 5: and they've been dying for an offensive player like that.
- 32:46Speaker 5: I'll give I'll give Cleveland a little bit of the
- 32:48Speaker 5: not just in the deadline so far that I've seen.
- 32:50Speaker 5: And I like Brasse Bond, don't get me wrong, but
- 32:52Speaker 5: you know, he's an older reliever. I think the Mets
- 32:54Speaker 5: sold high on him. But and they've done it, you know, overall,
- 32:59Speaker 5: really really good job. I think, fill in some of
- 33:02Speaker 5: their holes. But I feel like with Cleveland, the talent
- 33:05Speaker 5: that they acquired over the last you know, day or
- 33:08Speaker 5: two is a little bit better, a little bit better
- 33:11Speaker 5: than what I've seen there, you know, within the rest
- 33:13Speaker 5: of the division.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Anyway, all right, Twins, they sold ninety three players last
- 33:20Speaker 3: year the trade deadline, and now they've just recently they
- 33:24Speaker 3: acquired Jeff Hoffman, AJ Mentor and Dean Kramer. Give me
- 33:29Speaker 3: your evaluation of what they've done, because they're a team
- 33:33Speaker 3: that's just on the fringe of the wild card for
- 33:35Speaker 3: the American League.
- 33:36Speaker 5: They are. I agree with you in that, you know,
- 33:39Speaker 5: their offense has been fantastic. You know, they had that
- 33:41Speaker 5: deal that supposedly got nixed by the Astros Larnik for
- 33:45Speaker 5: what was it a brave I think it was, and
- 33:48Speaker 5: I wouldn't have liked that necessarily that that trade. I know,
- 33:52Speaker 5: maybe there's another player in there that we don't know about,
- 33:54Speaker 5: but you know, I think with that offense, they been
- 33:57Speaker 5: their strength. It's carried them to this point. I'm not
- 34:01Speaker 5: so sure on the rotation. Like Kramer is a good
- 34:03Speaker 5: back end starter for me. I like what they did
- 34:06Speaker 5: on the bullpen side. Now mint Mintor is interesting for
- 34:09Speaker 5: me because he got right, he's out and he really
- 34:12Speaker 5: struggled against lefties this year, but he's been historically a
- 34:15Speaker 5: good left handed reliever against left handed hitters, so you know,
- 34:18Speaker 5: hopefully he'll kind of figure that out. And brass Abound
- 34:21Speaker 5: has been better than expected. You know what abouthers me
- 34:25Speaker 5: a little bit is you know, there is a little
- 34:26Speaker 5: bit of a concern him pitching in New York. Now,
- 34:28Speaker 5: he pitched well in New York, but it was on
- 34:29Speaker 5: a team that wasn't winning. But you know, again, he's
- 34:32Speaker 5: gonna get the plenty of high leverage situations there in Minnesota,
- 34:35Speaker 5: so they did strengthen a weakness there. I'm not so
- 34:39Speaker 5: sure that they addressed the rotation at least for my
- 34:42Speaker 5: liking to be able to compete there. But again, they've
- 34:45Speaker 5: exceeded my expectations from the very beginning. So I'm excited
- 34:48Speaker 5: to see what it looks like the last two months.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Jim, what's the one teams that surprised you so far?
- 34:54Speaker 4: Good or bad? Either way? Good or bad? Oh?
- 34:57Speaker 5: Good or bad? Well, you know what I think think
- 35:00Speaker 5: with I'm gonna say the the Yankees have surprised me
- 35:05Speaker 5: a little bit that they weren't going to be a
- 35:06Speaker 5: little more aggressive. I hesitate to say bad because they
- 35:09Speaker 5: did address the knee. They got Ramos and Luis Garcia.
- 35:12Speaker 5: I just don't you know, it's an odd fit with
- 35:15Speaker 5: Garcia playing first base and and you have obviously Ris
- 35:19Speaker 5: that's gonna play mostly first in d H and you
- 35:21Speaker 5: got gold Schmidt, and that to me is a little
- 35:24Speaker 5: bit I'm not seeing how that you know that fits
- 35:27Speaker 5: versus what, let's say, as an example, the Rays. Did
- 35:30Speaker 5: you know, I thought they did a pretty good job
- 35:31Speaker 5: obviously getting Peralta. That's a bi low candidate with Peralta.
- 35:35Speaker 5: But so I'll just I'll stick with the Yankees on that.
- 35:37Speaker 5: I'm a little bit surprised, you know, on the bad
- 35:39Speaker 5: side of of that, and then you know, on the
- 35:42Speaker 5: on the good side. I'm trying to Oh the Cubs.
- 35:44Speaker 5: I really liked how how well aggressive Jed Hoyer has been.
- 35:48Speaker 5: This is odd of character for him. We have not
- 35:50Speaker 5: seen him be this aggressive at the trade deadline. It's
- 35:54Speaker 5: always been that proverbial opportunistic, you know, and he's holding
- 35:58Speaker 5: on to prospects. This had I'm going to say it
- 36:00Speaker 5: was complete, you know, theo you know, he's he's out
- 36:03Speaker 5: from that shadow. But if you remember in twenty sixteen
- 36:07Speaker 5: how aggressive they were, and I think his quote was
- 36:10Speaker 5: if not now, then when I feel like we're going
- 36:14Speaker 5: to get some similar paraphrased type of comment from Jed
- 36:18Speaker 5: Hoyer this time around too, because I think what they did,
- 36:20Speaker 5: you know, getting Gosman, getting homes, you know, being able
- 36:23Speaker 5: to use homes in the bullpen. They got another starter
- 36:27Speaker 5: I'm not thinking of at the moment, but I mean
- 36:28Speaker 5: I thought they did really really well. Yeah, yeah, thank you, Garrett.
- 36:31Speaker 5: So yeah, I think I think the Cubs were that one.
- 36:34Speaker 5: I think they did well, and it surprised me at
- 36:37Speaker 5: how aggressive they were.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Hey, Duke, a ton of prospects coming into Queen's to
- 36:43Speaker 1: the Mets organization. I didn't realize. I mean, I was like, yeah,
- 36:46Speaker 1: the Mets system, I thought it was kind of mid range.
- 36:48Speaker 1: But then you see a deal like what they did
- 36:50Speaker 1: with the Cubs and it's for rentals. Jefferson Rojas goes
- 36:53Speaker 1: into their system and most publications are going to probably
- 36:56Speaker 1: put him first or second, depending on you know, Joanah
- 36:59Speaker 1: tom So they are actually really retooling their farm system
- 37:02Speaker 1: this week, huh.
- 37:04Speaker 5: I do like the Rojas, you know, I thought they
- 37:07Speaker 5: maybe could have squeezed another prospect out of it. But
- 37:09Speaker 5: he's the top. He's the top one hundred at least
- 37:11Speaker 5: according to the pipeline MLB pipeline. You know, as an infielder,
- 37:15Speaker 5: he's a shorter third. You know, there's a lot to
- 37:17Speaker 5: like with him. So, you know, I thought, you know,
- 37:20Speaker 5: for what they you know, the little bit that's left
- 37:23Speaker 5: on Holmes contract and throwing Taylor in there, I thought
- 37:26Speaker 5: they did a really good job on that. I like
- 37:27Speaker 5: the kid Stafaro that they got from the Pirates for
- 37:30Speaker 5: Luke Weaver. That kid can hit a little bit. You know,
- 37:33Speaker 5: was watching some video and looking at some reports on him,
- 37:37Speaker 5: He's a local kid in New York that grew up
- 37:39Speaker 5: a Mets fan. And I think if you look at
- 37:42Speaker 5: those two guys in particular, they're going to be probably,
- 37:44Speaker 5: you know, top three, top four prospects in the Mets.
- 37:48Speaker 5: I know the pipeline's a little light in my opinion
- 37:50Speaker 5: on him, but you know, I like what they did
- 37:52Speaker 5: in that situation. They got a couple of i'll call
- 37:55Speaker 5: him lottery tickets with the arms there a little bit later,
- 37:59Speaker 5: but yeah, I think what they were able to do
- 38:01Speaker 5: and just being patient. Part of this deadline. I think
- 38:05Speaker 5: JB was talking about this earlier, but part of the
- 38:07Speaker 5: deadline and when you have this many players is there's
- 38:09Speaker 5: a strategy to it. Right, they were waiting on Peralta.
- 38:12Speaker 5: I thought Paralta was actually going to go before Schooble,
- 38:15Speaker 5: did you know within the industry he didn't. But they
- 38:18Speaker 5: moved him first, they got quantity there, then they go
- 38:22Speaker 5: Weaver next, and then he held on to Holmes a
- 38:25Speaker 5: little bit longer to wait and get the best prospect.
- 38:28Speaker 5: And yeah, I think that that's a big part of
- 38:30Speaker 5: you know this when you're selling is the strategy aspect
- 38:33Speaker 5: of it. And I thought the Mets did pretty well
- 38:37Speaker 5: considering all things. As bad as the season has been.
- 38:42Speaker 1: This is that time of year, aj it is Baseball's
- 38:45Speaker 1: time to shine, and it is sea Geek's time to
- 38:48Speaker 1: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing, seating
- 38:53Speaker 1: and games that are even sold out available on sea geek.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest map
- 39:00Speaker 4: coming up, we have Yankees Cubs coming up.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Where's Yankees red sox? That means stuff.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Again, there's some big moments that are coming up here
- 39:06Speaker 4: in the as the penachases really heat up, Go to
- 39:09Speaker 4: sik can find those green tickets with the best deals
- 39:12Speaker 4: and get yourself out to an MLB game.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you. They will actually put
- 39:18Speaker 1: a red dot next to a ticket that they don't
- 39:20Speaker 1: feel is your best. Look. Green dot means very good
- 39:25Speaker 1: code for you. It's Territory ten ten percent off your
- 39:29Speaker 1: next set of MLB tickets at seakeek. That's ten percent
- 39:32Speaker 1: off MLB tickets when you use the promo code Territory
- 39:36Speaker 1: one zero. Make sure you click the link in the
- 39:38Speaker 1: description to download the app and have the code automatically
- 39:40Speaker 1: added to your account so you can use it later.
- 39:43Speaker 3: What about the pirates. What about what the pirates have
- 39:45Speaker 3: done if they filled all the needs that they have
- 39:48Speaker 3: based on the fact that they have pushed all in
- 39:51Speaker 3: as the pirates can push all in and now they're
- 39:54Speaker 3: kind of on the fringe here.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to remember.
- 39:59Speaker 5: It's been one of those days. I remember who who
- 40:01Speaker 5: they got besides Weaver? Did they get anybody else besides Weaver?
- 40:04Speaker 3: I don't think, oh.
- 40:06Speaker 5: Deval So listen, I think Weaver was the best relief
- 40:10Speaker 5: pitcher on the market just watching his season and how
- 40:13Speaker 5: good he's been and being able to pitch, you know,
- 40:15Speaker 5: in tight situations. So I really like that pick up.
- 40:18Speaker 5: I'm not a big dove all guy, just watching him
- 40:21Speaker 5: in New York and and you know, I didn't it,
- 40:23Speaker 5: just didn't handle it. But you know, in a change
- 40:26Speaker 5: of scenery and that environment, he might be better. I
- 40:29Speaker 5: just I wonder, you know, if you're managing that team right,
- 40:33Speaker 5: and you have Soto and Daval in your bullpen, uh,
- 40:36Speaker 5: do you pick up a pack of cigarettes and start
- 40:39Speaker 5: smoking them as soon as you bring them in? Because
- 40:40Speaker 5: I've got some concerns with the number of walks and
- 40:44Speaker 5: and just how difficult it's going to be with those guys,
- 40:47Speaker 5: number of guys getting on base like, I don't know, man,
- 40:49Speaker 5: I I know that Ben Sherrington likes Don Kelly, but man,
- 40:53Speaker 5: I feel for Don having to bring those guys in
- 40:55Speaker 5: and then watch all these guys get on base.
- 40:58Speaker 4: True, Jim, I mentioned this earlier. The Rangers and the
- 41:01Speaker 4: Pirates have the same record. They're both under five hundred.
- 41:03Speaker 4: I know the Rangers have one less one, so but
- 41:06Speaker 4: the Rangers everyone was talking about them selling and the
- 41:09Speaker 4: Pirates are talking about going for it even though they're
- 41:12Speaker 4: in the NL and the Rangers are in the ALE.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Why is it such a difference in philosophies? Is it
- 41:18Speaker 4: just desperation from the Pirates wanting to act like they're
- 41:20Speaker 4: trying to be good?
- 41:22Speaker 5: I think I think that's a part of it.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 5: I think when you you know you're all in or
- 41:27Speaker 5: all committed, all committed, like like Ben Sherrington was, and
- 41:30Speaker 5: you go through this little bit of stretch that they've been,
- 41:33Speaker 5: you know, this downturn, I felt like they were a team.
- 41:36Speaker 5: They were a dangerous team, and I still think that
- 41:38Speaker 5: they are. And I don't have their strength of schedule,
- 41:40Speaker 5: but a lot of that to me matters. I know
- 41:42Speaker 5: some people disagree, but I think the strength of schedule
- 41:44Speaker 5: down the stretch, I gotta I know, you got to
- 41:46Speaker 5: win games at the major level. What's hard to do.
- 41:48Speaker 5: But man, when you have when you you'd much rather
- 41:50Speaker 5: play teams that are struggling than the one than the
- 41:53Speaker 5: really good ones. Uh to be able to go on
- 41:55Speaker 5: a run like that. And so you know, I we'll
- 41:57Speaker 5: see with Pittsburgh on that. But you know, I think
- 42:00Speaker 5: that you know, Texas, that to me was the other
- 42:02Speaker 5: Texas and Baltimore both were you know, and even I'll
- 42:05Speaker 5: throw Detroit Detroit and there after trading Schooble, they haven't
- 42:08Speaker 5: done an awful lot, so maybe maybe they're trying to
- 42:10Speaker 5: do both. But I just don't know when I've always
- 42:15Speaker 5: felt like, if you're within you know, three games of
- 42:18Speaker 5: the postseason and you you have a you know, high
- 42:21Speaker 5: end starting pitching like you do in Pittsburgh with those guys,
- 42:25Speaker 5: they're a dangerous team if they were able to get
- 42:27Speaker 5: to the postseason. So I don't I don't mind it,
- 42:30Speaker 5: especially you know, if you kind of use it in
- 42:32Speaker 5: as the comparison to you know, how bad the Pirates
- 42:35Speaker 5: have been and they just haven't done enough over the
- 42:37Speaker 5: last couple of years. So when you get to that taste,
- 42:40Speaker 5: I kind of like and I would have liked to
- 42:42Speaker 5: have seen them push in a little bit more.
- 42:45Speaker 1: SOD. My question, playing off of this, what's the one
- 42:48Speaker 1: team that either sold or basically as holding. As we're
- 42:51Speaker 1: getting to the final minutes here before the trade deadline
- 42:54Speaker 1: ends and we'll get stuff that trickles out after. What's
- 42:57Speaker 1: one team where you looked and you were like, I
- 42:59Speaker 1: would have just kept rolling with it. I know one
- 43:02Speaker 1: that comes to mind that I've I've heard you say,
- 43:05Speaker 1: and I'll bring it up and let me know if
- 43:07Speaker 1: you're throwing another direction. But I heard you at one
- 43:09Speaker 1: point say, hey, the Tigers are right there and their
- 43:12Speaker 1: rotation would have looked good in October. And again, we're
- 43:15Speaker 1: twelve minutes away from no Casey Mizu news. Yet I
- 43:18Speaker 1: would imagine he's going to get traded in the next
- 43:20Speaker 1: ten to fifteen minutes. But either way, was that the
- 43:22Speaker 1: team that you had circled, Like the Tigers have made
- 43:25Speaker 1: bigger pushes than this in the past. Should they have
- 43:27Speaker 1: just held off?
- 43:30Speaker 5: They're historically last couple of years, they've been a second
- 43:33Speaker 5: half team, and now that they were healthy now that
- 43:37Speaker 5: Scooble was back and pitching better, and they were starting
- 43:41Speaker 5: to get healthy. You know, I know what Carpenter was out,
- 43:43Speaker 5: but they were starting to get healthy on the on
- 43:45Speaker 5: the offensive front. I thought they were a real dangerous
- 43:48Speaker 5: team down the stretch, and if they got to the postseason,
- 43:50Speaker 5: they had the one guy that they could have rowed
- 43:54Speaker 5: in Schooble. But they have got others obviously, you know,
- 43:57Speaker 5: in the in the you know, in the rotation that
- 44:00Speaker 5: I liked. Myz is another one. Jackson Job's supposed to
- 44:02Speaker 5: come back, like there are there are a lot of
- 44:04Speaker 5: things that I felt like that with the Tigers, they
- 44:06Speaker 5: were trending up, and so I didn't In the end,
- 44:10Speaker 5: I wasn't surprised that that. I think I said this
- 44:12Speaker 5: on this on this show last week, Dodgers are going
- 44:17Speaker 5: to get Schooble. If he's available, the Dodgers are going
- 44:19Speaker 5: to get There's no one that's going to outbid them.
- 44:22Speaker 5: But I didn't like the move personally. I thought that
- 44:25Speaker 5: they should have just since they held on to him
- 44:27Speaker 5: last winter and they were trending up. I would have
- 44:29Speaker 5: wanted to keep him and see if there's something maybe
- 44:31Speaker 5: they could have moved maze and done something, you know
- 44:34Speaker 5: that way, But hold on to Scooble and make a
- 44:36Speaker 5: run at it.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Mm hmm. You got anyone agreed before we let him go?
- 44:40Speaker 1: Or did you guys want him gone?
- 44:41Speaker 4: No?
- 44:41Speaker 2: I think I think he's right.
- 44:42Speaker 4: I mean the Tigers aren't that far and they were,
- 44:45Speaker 4: I mean they were playing a little bit better in
- 44:47Speaker 4: the American League. Isn't that hard last year? Or I
- 44:49Speaker 4: think when the Tigers are are looking at a gym
- 44:53Speaker 4: is a couple of years ago?
- 44:54Speaker 2: Was it two years ago? They made the.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Playoffs and they and they did just didn't do anything.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Remember the rest of the Central Clarity. They guys away
- 45:02Speaker 4: and then they got hot and made the postseason.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Yeah, last year they did fade.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Actually they did.
- 45:07Speaker 5: Fade in September yep.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yeah, two years ago they were rolling last one. Sorry
- 45:12Speaker 1: because there was one more trade they came through. And
- 45:13Speaker 1: we've been talking about them, just your analysis on the player.
- 45:16Speaker 1: You know, we've covered for years. The Diamondbacks did finally
- 45:18Speaker 1: do something. They it looks like they're acquiring Lars Newtbar
- 45:22Speaker 1: yes and reporting. So thoughts on new Bar and the
- 45:25Speaker 1: Diamondbacks getting a little offense.
- 45:28Speaker 5: Well, they've been looking for you know, left handed bat,
- 45:32Speaker 5: center fielder. You know, I still feel like they have
- 45:35Speaker 5: a move in them. They were looking for starting pitching.
- 45:37Speaker 5: Maybe they'll be in on mis like we just talked about.
- 45:38Speaker 5: But I like Newbar, you know, a little bit obviously
- 45:41Speaker 5: at the top of the lineup, to add a little
- 45:43Speaker 5: bit of pressure ahead of the rest of the of
- 45:46Speaker 5: the offensive group that they have. So yeah, I think
- 45:49Speaker 5: in the end, I don't I don't know what the
- 45:51Speaker 5: acquisition cost was there, but I don't think it matters
- 45:53Speaker 5: at this point. You know, they're on the board, but
- 45:56Speaker 5: I'm hoping that in the final what is the ten minutes,
- 45:58Speaker 5: that they can find themselves a little bit more pitching
- 46:01Speaker 5: at least another starting pitcher.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Duke. Awesome stuff. Thank you so much for joining us
- 46:06Speaker 1: here towards the buzzer. We appreciate you man.
- 46:08Speaker 5: All right, guys, thanks, We've we've hit.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Every trade as it's come, whether we've done it ourselves
- 46:13Speaker 1: or done it with the guests at the moment, as
- 46:16Speaker 1: we've been live now for what five hours days, five days,
- 46:20Speaker 1: seven minutes away. We did a really good weekend show
- 46:23Speaker 1: too that was just dedicated to the Schoogle News and
- 46:26Speaker 1: we still spoke about schoogle plenty today, So if you're
- 46:29Speaker 1: backtracking at some point you miss something, we probably covered
- 46:32Speaker 1: it here on FT and props of the team behind
- 46:34Speaker 1: the scenes hustling stuff's flying out on social media too,
- 46:38Speaker 1: on the Foul Territory accounts. But we are at the
- 46:42Speaker 1: six minute fifty second mark until deals need to be
- 46:46Speaker 1: submitted and then we'll learn about what's going on right afterward.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So let's do this while.
- 46:50Speaker 2: We're we have to stay on after six o'clock.
- 46:53Speaker 1: We always you ask me this year. Every year Aja
- 46:56Speaker 1: asks me this.
- 46:57Speaker 3: I'm going to ask you.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Good.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Are almost everyone everyone needs dinner?
- 47:04Speaker 4: No, I never asked that because I could read a
- 47:06Speaker 4: map back when I was kicked there. I knew when
- 47:09Speaker 4: we were almost there.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Favorite trade so far, and you can include the last
- 47:14Speaker 1: few days, but the trade where you're like, I really
- 47:18Speaker 1: like this team getting this player.
- 47:21Speaker 4: This is gonna surprise you when I tell you this.
- 47:23Speaker 4: It's the Cubs trades today, both of them, Gossman and
- 47:26Speaker 4: Clay Holmes. That's that's the one that is just because
- 47:30Speaker 4: they are such a need, such a need for them
- 47:33Speaker 4: to do. That was a big one for me.
- 47:37Speaker 1: I like that two playoff starters. That's not easy. Two
- 47:44Speaker 1: playoff starters.
- 47:46Speaker 2: You have crats Red Sox.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Like I like, I love the Red Sox. The fact
- 47:52Speaker 3: that I've said one and a half weeks ago this
- 47:55Speaker 3: team stinks, and they're like, screw you, We're going to
- 47:59Speaker 3: get in a big time reliever with I think Eric
- 48:03Speaker 3: Miller is a big time reliever if you watch him
- 48:05Speaker 3: and Adlie Rutchman. Is Ali Ruchmand one hundred percent healthy?
- 48:08Speaker 3: I have no idea who's one hundred percent healthy in
- 48:10Speaker 3: August anyway, Like, I think it's something that they saw
- 48:15Speaker 3: an opportunity to make this team better in a big way,
- 48:20Speaker 3: and they pushed it. They pushed it all in.
- 48:25Speaker 4: Wow, CBS, And I tell you the most interesting team
- 48:29Speaker 4: the Red Sox getting Ali Ruchman training Marcelo Mayer.
- 48:35Speaker 2: I mean, with this better work, this better work, I
- 48:40Speaker 2: don't know.
- 48:41Speaker 1: See for me, if it doesn't work, I'm still satisfied.
- 48:45Speaker 1: If I'm a Red.
- 48:46Speaker 4: Sox Francisco just starts crushing.
- 48:49Speaker 1: It, I guess. But no, I'm okay, we can't. We
- 48:54Speaker 1: can't do right, Harry Box, Uh, that's it. We can't
- 49:02Speaker 1: say hey, I want to see my team do things
- 49:05Speaker 1: and then knock it if the player ends up working out.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Yeah, right, yeah, I think the Rays had a nice day. Yeah, Catcher, starter, reliever,
- 49:16Speaker 4: all good pieces. Yankees got a couple of bats they needed.
- 49:20Speaker 4: Dodgers got school obviously, Brewers did Okay, started a couple
- 49:26Speaker 4: of relievers.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Uh who else?
- 49:29Speaker 1: I'm against you on that. I mean, I think they
- 49:31Speaker 1: did fine.
- 49:31Speaker 2: But yeah, they did fine. They're the classic. Yeah, probably
- 49:38Speaker 2: raise a nice piece for them, especially if they swing
- 49:40Speaker 2: the bat the way they have the last couple of weeks.
- 49:42Speaker 1: It's weird that they didn't make ten trades.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Though, well, the Mariners didn't need it.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Right, aj Preler and Jerry Depoto or two of the
- 49:50Speaker 1: top five, if not top three in terms of quantity.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Texted okay ten years I.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Texted, Okay, I hope there's I think there's more coming,
- 49:57Speaker 4: even though Bob said no, but I think there might
- 49:59Speaker 4: be one more moving.
- 50:00Speaker 1: It wasn't catcher the last spot they were looking.
- 50:02Speaker 2: At, just Joe I mean, listen, we love Joey Bart.
- 50:04Speaker 1: But oh right, they got Joey Bart. So then, but
- 50:07Speaker 1: is that like they'll probably hold off then they're not
- 50:12Speaker 1: going to get another guy. I think the white sucks
- 50:14Speaker 1: were very clear with their messaging. We'll spend a little
- 50:16Speaker 1: take on some money.
- 50:17Speaker 2: They took on a lot of money.
- 50:19Speaker 1: We are not trading from our fine, that's fine prospect hub,
- 50:23Speaker 1: our good looking prospect hub. They were like, no, we.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Have six shortstops that are all potential. We're all gonna
- 50:30Speaker 4: play short stop crats.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Padres love shortstops. Padres do love shortstops.
- 50:40Speaker 4: Padres also haven't lost one hundred games the last two years.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It's hard to know what the asking prices were, but
- 50:47Speaker 1: do you think that the Angels should have entertained more
- 50:52Speaker 1: conversations about Zach Netto or Reid Detmer's and wait got traded? No,
- 50:57Speaker 1: he didn't. And I've got another team that we haven't
- 51:00Speaker 1: spoken much about today, Reds. No, we just we just
- 51:05Speaker 1: hit how the Reds really have been chilling. We talked
- 51:09Speaker 1: about them with one trade that they made that made
- 51:11Speaker 1: them a little bit worse offensively, but it was a
- 51:14Speaker 1: little bit of a surplus situation and it made another
- 51:16Speaker 1: team much stronger in a certain position on offense that's
- 51:23Speaker 1: probably not specific enough. The Marlins. The Marlins are close
- 51:28Speaker 1: to a wild card spot. They they fell apart in
- 51:30Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks. I know they don't so,
- 51:34Speaker 1: but but they all of a sudden become a hole
- 51:36Speaker 1: besides Liam Hicks.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Yes that's a move for that.
- 51:41Speaker 2: I know that's the lowest. But that was it wouldn't
- 51:44Speaker 2: get traded. I told y'all, Sandy wasn't get traded.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I told Jolly, wasn't gonna get all year about Sandy
- 51:49Speaker 1: Saniel Lowe.
- 51:50Speaker 2: All the Reds did something.
- 51:52Speaker 5: Holla Lou, Yeah, hallean Lou.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Yeah they got there, they got their Nri traded. Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 3: Uh yes to the Guardians.
- 52:02Speaker 4: But who is there another team that didn't do anything?
- 52:04Speaker 4: Because I think pretty much every team was covered today,
- 52:06Speaker 4: weren't they?
- 52:08Speaker 1: Oh, the Marlins just made a trade. When I like
- 52:10Speaker 1: the second I said that the Marlins made a trade,
- 52:13Speaker 1: or at least it was announced passed and said Victor
- 52:16Speaker 1: Bodnik from the Rockies, who's got big stuff and pitches
- 52:20Speaker 1: in Colorado, get him out of Colorado. I mean, I
- 52:22Speaker 1: like him. He's Okay, high be low high ground ball guy. Uh,
- 52:27Speaker 1: Connor Norby goes to the Rockies. What what do you mean?
- 52:32Speaker 6: What?
- 52:35Speaker 3: Okay?
- 52:35Speaker 1: Connor Norby, Norby and right hand are Aiden May. So
- 52:39Speaker 1: the Marlins did do another thing.
- 52:43Speaker 4: Days didn't do anything. They didn't ooh no, didn't trade?
- 52:49Speaker 4: Is there anybody is there? Every team did something exet
- 52:52Speaker 4: the A's right the top of my head.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Well, if you're counting the Reds just now.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Just made a move? Sure for down seconds? No, yeah, seconds.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Now let's see here, White Sox, Guardians, Twins, Tigers, Royals. Check,
- 53:07Speaker 4: they all made moves. Raise Twins, your Red Sox, at Rols, Blues,
- 53:11Speaker 4: just check Pastros, Rangers, A's out, Royals trade Lane Thomas
- 53:16Speaker 4: yesterday today praise Philly Marlins, Nationals, Mets check. Chick check,
- 53:20Speaker 4: Brewers Cubs, Pirates, Cardinals, Reds check, chick check. Dodgers diamondbackspot.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Every team had a trade except for the A's. Go A's.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Las Vegas is excited.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Three two, one hush you guys tomorrow.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Trade deadline is officially over. So you guys tomorrow not
- 53:40Speaker 1: mean we know about every deal, all.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Right, So you guys tomorrow. Thanks. It was real.
- 53:44Speaker 1: It is frantic in New York City right now at
- 53:47Speaker 1: the MLB offices. I guarantee you we will learn about
- 53:51Speaker 1: the trade. Let's put the over under right now. Okay,
- 53:54Speaker 1: So officially the trade deadline is done right now how
- 53:58Speaker 1: many more major league trades? What we hear about? Well,
- 54:00Speaker 1: here's one. Ken Rosensald just said Kirby Yates to the Pirates,
- 54:05Speaker 1: So the Pirates get Kirby Yates. So now they got
- 54:07Speaker 1: Kirby Yates. Oh, the Reds, Camillo Doval and Luke Weaver.
- 54:11Speaker 1: So starting now, how many more trades will we hear
- 54:14Speaker 1: about over the next let me know tomorrow.
- 54:16Speaker 3: I'm seven, We're sending at six and a half. I'm
- 54:21Speaker 3: taking you over.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Wow, I'll take the under major league trades because then
- 54:30Speaker 1: you also what happens is, guys, over these next fifteen minutes,
- 54:33Speaker 1: reporters will start to chime in, Oh, here's another one,
- 54:37Speaker 1: John Haymond Casey Mice to the Padres. Padres got Casey
- 54:41Speaker 1: Mice and Robbie.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Ray Padres had a good day. Man.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Wow, I already said that. I already knew about that one.
- 54:46Speaker 4: I just wasn't allowed to report it.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Well because you said Casey Mice to everyone but Casey,
- 54:49Speaker 1: so I never got you did that was your best prediction.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Some people on TV do that. They predict everything every
- 54:55Speaker 1: day and then try to go viral when when they're right,
- 54:58Speaker 1: Casey my is to the or to the Padres. Sorry,
- 55:02Speaker 1: Robbie Ray and Casey Mice inserted into the rotation. Michael
- 55:05Speaker 1: King's been good this year. Their bullpen's awesome. How do
- 55:09Speaker 1: you feel about the Padres?
- 55:10Speaker 3: Now?
- 55:12Speaker 2: I said they had a guarden said they had a
- 55:14Speaker 2: good day.
- 55:14Speaker 1: But now and they kept Mason Miller like how but
- 55:19Speaker 1: but big picture, how do you feel about the Padres?
- 55:23Speaker 1: Can they how much do you up their chances of
- 55:26Speaker 1: making the playoffs? Can they do damage in the playoffs?
- 55:30Speaker 3: Yes?
- 55:31Speaker 4: Yes, because their bullpen is so good, and also because
- 55:34Speaker 4: if you have Robbie Ray, Casey Mice healthy, Moscow is
- 55:38Speaker 4: supposed to be coming back at some point. Michael King's
- 55:41Speaker 4: pretty good. And if their offense hits a little bit,
- 55:43Speaker 4: they're pretty good.
- 55:44Speaker 1: They might have to call you Darbish'd be like dude
- 55:47Speaker 1: September kidding. But the Padres right now are on the
- 55:52Speaker 1: outside looking in by a game. The current wildcard standings
- 55:55Speaker 1: in the National League today, the Cubs have a pretty
- 55:58Speaker 1: cushy lead, and then it's the Diamondbacks and Phillies even
- 56:03Speaker 1: for the second spot, so they take up the other
- 56:05Speaker 1: two spots right now, right, and then the Padres are
- 56:08Speaker 1: their first team on the outside looking in. Their one
- 56:09Speaker 1: game back, Marlins one and a half games back, and
- 56:12Speaker 1: then there's another drop off where you get the Pirates
- 56:15Speaker 1: and the Cardinals, the Nationals. So the Padres are believing
- 56:19Speaker 1: in themselves much more than say the Marlins.
- 56:23Speaker 3: Yeah, no Ship, no shit, Scott, no.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Shit, Captain Obvious.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Report Seriously, thanks Captain Obvious.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Their their neck and neck in the standings, and they
- 56:37Speaker 1: just told their fan base is what they think.
- 56:39Speaker 4: They believe in themselves more than the Diamond and one
- 56:44Speaker 4: and one team just sold for three point nine million billion.
- 56:48Speaker 1: But billion, you messed up your being your billion. So
- 56:53Speaker 1: I did see a report at some point from someone
- 56:55Speaker 1: in my circle of trust reporters that said aj Preler
- 56:58Speaker 1: was telling teams that he could spend some cash. Robbie
- 57:01Speaker 1: Ray is not cheap. Casey is making pretty good money
- 57:04Speaker 1: this year. Remember how the Padres had to be careful
- 57:06Speaker 1: before they were selling. They don't have to be as
- 57:09Speaker 1: careful right now.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Oh you know what I'm looking forward to so much?
- 57:11Speaker 2: Fox as the n A playoffs Andres Dodgers.
- 57:19Speaker 4: I don't know, but I'm just saying, be awesome. You know,
- 57:22Speaker 4: I'd be awesome because the travel or I'll take Milwaukee
- 57:25Speaker 4: Cubs out either one Fox Fox, So make this happen
- 57:28Speaker 4: MLB player.
- 57:31Speaker 1: So now the Tigers shed Schooble and miz good luck
- 57:40Speaker 1: Pirates and what marks make his name from the Marlins
- 57:48Speaker 1: Luke bash Are who I've seen it pitch B A C.
- 57:53Speaker 1: H A R. From the Miolins right hand of believer.
- 57:57Speaker 1: There you get some reports John Hayman, Angel Sherman both
- 58:00Speaker 1: say Yankees are done. Ken Rosenthal said Orioles are keeping
- 58:05Speaker 1: Trevor Rodgers. So they traded Taylor Ward and Adlei Rutchman,
- 58:12Speaker 1: but they're holding Trevor Rogers.
- 58:14Speaker 7: Okay, it's all coming and getting nothing for who Baltimore
- 58:25Speaker 7: is Trevor Rodgers free agent.
- 58:27Speaker 3: Yeah, oh okay.
- 58:32Speaker 1: I want to point this out. So the team that
- 58:34Speaker 1: I was just thinking about, and I just saw the
- 58:39Speaker 1: tweet come in through our chat Jesus Kano, who covers
- 58:43Speaker 1: the Braves for the Athletic This is going to point
- 58:46Speaker 1: me to the next direction I want to take everyone.
- 58:49Speaker 1: He said. The Padres have one of the worst farm
- 58:50Speaker 1: systems in baseball today. They acquired Robbie Ray and Casey Mice.
- 58:56Speaker 1: The Braves have a much stronger system. They added Tyler
- 58:59Speaker 1: Mollety Braves fans are going to be pissed. Remember how
- 59:04Speaker 1: we're getting asked. You don't think so. You don't think
- 59:06Speaker 1: Braves fans are going to be pissed.
- 59:12Speaker 4: They don't have a stronger farm system. Okay, why they
- 59:17Speaker 4: don't have it because they didn't trade them, all right,
- 59:18Speaker 4: they didn't trade any of them.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Shouldn't Braves fans be pretty pissed right now with what
- 59:23Speaker 1: they did.
- 59:23Speaker 4: I don't know who's supposed to be pissed and who's
- 59:24Speaker 4: supposed to be excited about it.
- 59:26Speaker 3: I don't know if.
- 59:27Speaker 2: But Cash Mayfield is a great.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Name, by the way, in there.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Casey mis Engage workman for Cash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf.
- 59:35Speaker 4: That's some serious names right there. Yeah, that's some serious
- 59:39Speaker 4: name power.
- 59:39Speaker 1: It's name flexing.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Wait, so you're okay with the Braids. You don't have
- 59:45Speaker 1: any ran.
- 59:47Speaker 2: I grew up a Braves fan. I want the Brace
- 59:48Speaker 2: fans to do.
- 59:49Speaker 1: I'm not your fandom. Do you think the Braves were
- 59:53Speaker 1: sufficient just now with what they did last.
- 59:56Speaker 4: Week compared to some other teams like the in the
- 59:58Speaker 4: National League, like the Cubs and Dodge.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Yeah, they went more of the Brewers rout.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Let's try to fly under the radar.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Man, that's disappointing.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: They went, what the what the Cubs said they were
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: going to go, didn't Jed Hoyer say, well, we're not
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: going on. We're not going to push in here unless
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: we get a unless we're talking about a buy. And
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: the Cubs said, did you We're actually going to push.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: And the Braves were like, hey, wait a minute, you
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: said you were going to push.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Because the Braves don't have you're saying they don't have
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: a great chance of a buy since the Dodgers and
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Brewers are in front of them.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Cubs don't have a chance to buy either.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: They went, they said, which I went against what they said.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So you guys went over the teams that you loved
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the most. You guys loved the Cubs and the Red
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Sox from the traders in the Rays. Okay, so that's
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: a good three. The teams that you disliked the most.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: They just didn't do one thing, didn't sell anybody, didn't
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: really do much.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: I'm not going to say the team just north of
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Chicago anymore because I think we beat up on him enough.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: And the Brewers yep, uh, I just said the Braves,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I would like to enter them on the list.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Reds.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: The Reds had a lot of right handed hitting guys
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: they didn't get rid of Steers.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Steer was the big one.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: He's pretty hurt Stevenson.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: I mean there were some guys that they just didn't.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Tyler Stevenson's a free agent after this year. He
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: was emotional the other day thinking he was going to
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: get dealt And unless something pops up in the next
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: seven minutes on the late reports here, Tyler Stevens not going.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Stevenson is not going anywhere, you.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Know what a Holts. I think did a good job
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: today and it's not going to show up this year.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: At the Blue Jays, they acquired some guys for the future,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: not just for this year. And I think they did
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: a pretty good job with getting.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Pitching Spencer Araghatty, Jose Soriano.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think that's nice.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Tell me about what the Rangers did before I put
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: them on the list.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Nothing, they traded away, Josh.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I know what they did. Nothing, No, no, no, they Yeah,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: besides Josh Smith. They they made phone calls today and
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I have a feeling that each phone call went the same.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: We know the first one, Hey, Jacob, No, do you
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: want to get traded?
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: No?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Hey, Corey, do you want to get traded? No? Nathan,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: would you like to get traded? No? All right, cool,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Not much we can do here. They are all have
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: no trade clauses. You can't do anything.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: I know, it's hard.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: It's it's a new ballpark, it's no state income tax.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: It's a team that's not out of it. So it's
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: a little bit of a weird call. De Gram already
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: spoke about it is now. I believe in here and
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: yearnedes no trade clause. You gave it to him. Those
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: guys don't want to move, Not that they would have moved,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: but they don't want to move.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I don't think any of them gave them permission by.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: The Red Sonocks. Don't give no trade clause. Smartest team,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: no trade.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: Red Sox had a good day for me on the
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: big league team level, and they're the most interesting team
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: because of the moves they may yeah, because I don't
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: know enough about the minor league guys that they gave up.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: But for me, I mean, you had adlei Ritchman, you
- 1:03:14Speaker 4: had a good left handed reliever. That's a good day
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: for the Red Tux for a team that's playing really well.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Mhm. Official word coming in on who stayed put Ken
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: saying zach Netto and Redetmer stay with the Angels.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Devers got trade at Scott four hours ago.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I put my ass on the line, called someone out,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: and I'm taking the w You should have seen me.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: I was texting behind the scenes too. It's like, don't
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: talk about the street. I don't believe it.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: So Lara a good point. Mark, So Larra not traded
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: either by the Angels.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but let's give them some credit here. They moved Zephyr,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: John Jose, Soriano, anyone else well, still South, Still Seth
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: and Logan and Hoppy the.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Other day, Brett Souter friend sor Yeah.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: But even Soriano like in past years, they don't do that.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: That's super prospect, super player for a long time. Yeah,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: some of those guys, you know those are not rentals, right.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Adele's next year, Siriana's two more years.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: This is making his stamp, saying, all right, okay, al
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: do you want me to run this team. You gotta
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: let me run it the way I want. Let me
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: basically jump start over.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: That's important. Angels fans have dealt with this for a
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: long time. When they're looking at the deadline, they're like,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: what are we doing? We're not in contention this year.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: We need to get prospects in a seller's market. There
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: were a lot of teams that were like, yep, we're
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: trying this year. Let's go for it. All right, Well,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: we'll let you know if anyone else, Hey, can I
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: can I point out one more team, one more team
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: that I liked. The Cleveland Guardians picked up Joe Adell.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: There's some other smaller moves, Nathaniel Lowe, Blake Perkins, but
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Joe Adele and Foster Griffin for their rotation. Is it
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: a push all your chips in? No, But I like
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: those two moves. I think Foster Griffin's on the pitch
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: well there, and I think Joe Adell is immediately inserted
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: into the outfields. And they needed I know, you always
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: say like, oh they need tons of outpha. They really
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: needed one for sure that they can plug in there
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: versus and that's the guy. Yeah, because you have Anhil
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Martinez had a good year right water the latter, so
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Adele filling that out helps. Yep, all right, I think
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: we covered it all A few minutes left to go
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: to finish some business, and then we'll let you know
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: if anything else pops up. Our friend Jason Stark just
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: three to this, the Phillies made a minor league trade
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: at the buzzer with the A's. Minor league trade doesn't count.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: You didn't do anything A's but Seth Johnson to the
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: A's for outfielder Kolby Thomas, and he said, but they
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: ran out of time shopping for one more starter or
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: a reliever. They did get a who did they get?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: They for the Giants, they got multiple relievers. They got
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Caleb Killian and Brooks Raley.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: Right, yeah, Lefty, that's pretty good.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm happy about a lot of moves today.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: There was a lot.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: You know what, I'm the most pissed off about for
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: the whole past week that more teams didn't go for
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Trek Scoogle.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: I just want I just wonder this, like, how hard
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: were teams really going for him?
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: I will never know how hard are teams? How hard
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: did teams really go for him?
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: Not hard it?
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: Brewer said, we made an offer, But don't you think
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: that they could have just said, hey, man, okay, you
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: know what we really need this guy. We really want
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: this guy.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Give us we'll get we'll throw it.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: We'll give you one more, We'll give you our twenty
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: ninth prospect to sweeten the deal.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: They didn't believe. They didn't believe. What's part, they didn't
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: believe that he was what they needed whatever team insert
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: whatever team. They did not believe he was what was
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: going to make them better, which I couldn't agree less with.
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: Because because there's there's probably one team where he it
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: doesn't make them significantly better Yankees because they're starting rotations
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: cole Freed, Schlitler rode on in the playoffs when they're healthy.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: I mean honest, I mean not that Scooba wouldn't make
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: them better. But that's like the one team when you
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: look at him, you say say, damn, this is the
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: one dude, That one team that really doesn't need starting
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: pitcher because they also have Warren, right, they have they
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: have a bunch of guys. That was the one team
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: where you're like, okay, I see him not going there.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: And the second team would have been the Dodgers glass
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: now Snell if they but.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: They're always heard and they're always looking for innings.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: I mean, you go Yamamoto, Snell are Yamamoto, Schooble, Snell
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: Glass now Sazaki back in the bullpen.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: That's pretty damn good.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: Sorry the Brows, but Henderson.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: Mazowski too soon.
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: No, if that really was the reason why the Brewers
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: didn't do it, then.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, that's the one that pissed me off. And
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: I do feel like the Tigers maybe should have waited
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: until today.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: I'm not in he scheduled to pitch today, So that's
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: why they wanted to get him out, get it done
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: because if because then they would have had to he
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: wouldn't have been able to pitch for his next team
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: for a couple of days. So by doing it Saturday night,
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: they gave that team the opportunity.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: To get his next start, to get this start, which
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: is tomorrow. Yeah for the Dodgers.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: I want to see Gosman against the Blue Jays.
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: Though, on Thursday is definitely sign me up for that one.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Is he starting for sure? I know he was.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: I don't know, but I mean if he's not starting Thursday,
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: maybe he's starting Friday or Saturday.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Those are against ye ye.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Well, tonight invar show against the against the Blue Jays,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, yeah, there's one game I
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: watched tonight. It's Dalton Bar Show against the Blue Jays.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: All right, well we did it. Should we stay on
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: a little longer?
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: No, I gotta get some dinner, man, I'm up, sky.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: I didn't have a snack break, a bathroom break, water break,
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: a body break.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: And I mean it's like, Chris, did you get up?
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Did you move?
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: No chance? Scott taught me. Scott taught me you never
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: get up during a show. That's what he taught me.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: And I'm gonna listen to my hero. Not all heroes
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: were capes, true.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I wear a T shirts about Territory shop dot com

- 1:10:07Speaker 1: to give us a little bit of love. Thanks to
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: everyone that was watching, listening all of that. Thanks to
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: everyone behind the scenes, absolute grinders, behind the scenes. I
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: did take two bites of a bar. At one point
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: it was feeling at a little weak, pumps were sweaty.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: But I'm back.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: Before we go, can I just asked a suple questions,
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: like I'm watching they're doing a breakdown on a certain
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: channel of a certain player and it's exact same.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: It's like they're what they're.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Doing is the exact same.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Oh like them.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: You can see what's on the TV like they're doing
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: a breakdown. It's they're drawing lines and it's like, wait,
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: different camera angles different.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: I'm like, no, that doesn't work.
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Stop with the breakdowns unless the player is on there
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: explaining here's what I'm thinking. It's way different. Stop with
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: the breakdowns. Stop.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Well, the thing is real quick. I know music's playing,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: but if you take a screenshot of a play, you
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: could take the screenshot of the player moving into and
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: then take a picture again to be look at the
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: difference here. Yeah, I know that's.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Different angles from different cameras in different parks too. It
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: has to be the same camera in the same part
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: of the sauce against the same picture at this you
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: know there's.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Yes, I agree.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I'm glad we ended that way.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: I Digress's tomorrow and every day.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Sun is still out. Yeah, even on the East Coast.
