- 1:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're available wherever you or they get their podcast.
- 1:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So this is more of an upbeat show today.
- 1:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I guess have you ever gotten anything in your head that you wanted to do, you wanted to try, and for whatever reason, you didn't try whether it's you didn't have the time, you didn't have the equipment, you didn't have the software, you didn't have the money, you didn't have whatever it may be.
- 1:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just want to tell you number one, that you're awesome.
- 1:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Number two, you can do anything that you put your mind to.
- 2:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Number three, don't worry about what others think and what others say.
- 2:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If people are talking and talking behind your back, to your face, to my face, behind my back.
- 2:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I know I'm doing something right, I know I'm doing something uh that is what I'm meant to do, what I'm meant to be.
- 2:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so for all of those things, as they apply to you and yours, just remember that.
- 2:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I've noticed this all too well, all too often.
- 2:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, it really is a it's really a shame that people won't back what you're what you're doing.
- 3:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't have to be money.
- 3:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It can be, as I mentioned earlier, it could be y'all giving us a thumbs up, like and subscribe and share, all those things, those are all free to do.
- 3:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Don't have to get a comment, don't have to raise a million dollars.
- 3:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh you just have to be you, and so for some, that first try you struck gold, for others, it it'd be trial and error.
- 3:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know it's been trial and error for me, and so when you find whatever that thing or things are, just go for it, go for it with all your being, all your energy, anything that is within your power, within within yourself.
- 4:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well we we do well what we like to do.
- 4:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I remember growing up and I didn't like to read.
- 4:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I forget who who told me.
- 4:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But somebody told me, Justin, I know you don't like to read.
- 5:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But what are some topics?
- 5:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What are things you're interested in?
- 5:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I think I said like music, sports.
- 5:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so this person said, Well, then why don't you why don't you read about music and sports?
- 5:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I remember getting the Aerosmith biography, I think it it was, and just read about the band.
- 5:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, there was quite a lot of curse words in there that I'm not a huge fan of.
- 5:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But as I continued my education into college and university, when I would have a presentation, when I would have to pick a topic for a project, I would pick as much as I could, I would pick things that interested me.
- 6:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I remember my communications one-on-one class, like it was yesterday.
- 6:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it was an introduction to communicating, and so we learned a different, we know, uh informational, persuasive, you know, those types of things, presentations, and we were asked as part of the class grade to do that.
- 7:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I remember picking, and again, I'm putting politics aside, I'm putting whether you like the artist, Aerosmith, or one of who I'm about to mention, or not.
- 7:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I picked Kid Rock because it was interesting, he was interesting to me.
- 7:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's what I did my my different presentations on.
- 7:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I did different aspects of him, you know, information, persuading the class, their professor, maybe to listen to a song, maybe not.
- 7:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, I'm putting politics aside, I'm putting whoever that is for you, the musician, a band, an orchestra, pick that if it was sports, and baseball is my biggest the biggest sport that I liked, that's what I did.
- 8:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so whether you're asked to give a presentation, to write a paper, to work on a project, whether it's an individual group project, presentation, combination, or just a current event.
- 8:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Current events are huge in in my courses that I took, and so I tried to find things that were interesting to me because I knew that those were things because they were interested, interesting to me, I would probably do my best on that and on those.
- 9:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so for you, that's all you have to do.
- 9:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When you're thinking about like what do I choose to want to do, uh, to do for my career, to do for my class.
- 9:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Maybe you're a maybe you're a professor, and the course content is just too dry.
- 9:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Just definitions, processes, etc.
- 9:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And you see the different see the different examples.
- 10:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, mix in some examples that are interested to you.
- 10:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause you're gonna have more knowledge and you're gonna have more passion behind those than not, and it's interesting how people are we can't change them, we just can't.
- 10:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If there was a way, I probably would have found it at some point in my 44 years of being on Earth, it's just not not possible.
- 10:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So something that's interesting to you or to me might not be interesting to others, and that's okay.
- 11:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I've said it before, say it again.
- 11:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: One.
- 11:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You need one person, one supporter, one person that believes in you, one person that has heard you talk, who has read something you've written, has listened to a speech, whatever it is, doing a local baseball camp, showing young kids and helping them learn the fundamentals.
- 11:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whether it's a golf class I took in in college, we would go to the driving range, go to the putt practice putting green.
- 11:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We had quizzes and tests.
- 12:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The person teaching it, they like golf.
- 12:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it made complete sense for them to teach that course.
- 12:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so if you like music, if you like sports, if you like if you like summertime, if you like the fall in the Midwest, when the leaves change their colors.
- 12:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whatever that is, whatever that may be, do it.
- 12:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Keep your interest.
- 12:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I just did something I've done, I don't want to say like hundreds of times, but probably around there between getting between reading about, between lessons and so many more.
- 13:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: At forty-four years old, I'm doing things that and I have done things that have been dreams of mine to do.
- 13:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I gave you an example, I give real examples, so whenever I can, and this one is absolutely that.
- 13:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So last year, I have a friend who has a nonprofit that works with individuals who may have what some may consider disabilities somehow, whether it's in the mind or the body or both.
- 14:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But they love music.
- 14:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: A group of his I don't say students, but they're just regular human beings.
- 14:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, yeah, they may have some things that are unique to them then than to me or others.
- 14:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I we had a conversation with friend of mine and mine, friend and me, and we were talking, and I didn't end up doing this first one for uh several reasons, but he mentioned to me, hey, this is going on at a particular time in a particular location, and I I wanna I want to bring my my orchestra, my band with with with me, the special needs band, special needs orchestra, and I want once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- 16:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Man, wish I was there, wish I would have won.
- 16:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can't get into publicly why that didn't end up working out, but in any event, one I wanted to play with the his special needs orchestra, and so I play a little bit of guitar, and so I was I was thinking about it, so I asked him, and so that's how I got invited on the one one once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and then there was another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where he was taking his musicians to a university and was integrated in an orchestra performance at that university, and so because of the here we go, the sun's playing tricks on us, and so I was like, oh my gosh, how cool would it be?
- 17:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Not even cool, but you know, it's one of these things that really gets you like wow, wouldn't that be neat to to do this?
- 17:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I asked, I didn't have to ask, my friend, but I did, and he said, sure, yeah, and so integrated with orch the orchestra for from this school was these orchestra musicians that some may say they have a disability.
- 18:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just try to look at people as people, humans, because I think we all have something or some things that are are a little quirky or quirks of ours.
- 19:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I did it, and it was one of the most satisfying, fulfilling things that I've probably ever done.
- 19:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because I was doing something that I loved, playing my guitar.
- 19:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I was with a group that a lot of them probably have been told no a lot, and they were told yes this evening, and then it took an orchestra director to buy into the idea as well, and all these variables they work together to make this happen.
- 20:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Did I get paid for it?
- 20:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No.
- 20:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Did I do it so I could get paid?
- 20:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No.
- 20:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I did it because it was so neat.
- 20:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I was I was not the main person.
- 20:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I was in the orchestra, in with orchestra members, so I didn't have to worry about logistics or anything.
- 20:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, driving to get there, you know, that's logistical, but I'm talking, show up, bring my guitar, bring a couple guitar picks, and and do it.
- 21:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I did it.
- 21:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that did something for me.
- 21:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What about you?
- 21:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What have you done or you've wanted to do?
- 21:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What's held you back?
- 21:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is it somebody telling you no?
- 21:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Can't do that?
- 21:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, that's too controversial.
- 21:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, nobody cares.
- 21:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's stupid.
- 21:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's dumb.
- 21:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's just a hobby.
- 21:59unknown: Do
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do something real.
- 22:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What is it?
- 22:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Cause all those things are things I've heard told to me in one way or an or another.
- 22:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So don't let life is too short.
- 22:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No is a hard word to hear.
- 22:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No is a word that dashes a lot of our dreams, a lot of what we want to do.
- 22:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or we've done something once, but we don't know how to how to keep replicating that.
- 23:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have over 570 episodes of a podcast and TV show.
- 23:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That I thought we would maybe get a hundred episodes.
- 23:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wanted far more than that.
- 23:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we're over 570 episodes.
- 23:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Don't get paid to do it.
- 23:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do it because I love it.
- 23:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do it because I have an opportunity to help one person each time I come in front of the camera.
- 23:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Each time we have a guest come in front of the camera.
- 23:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, the Joe Rogan experience has 2,000 more episodes than we have.
- 24:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think the Dan Dan Bongino show, probably the same thing.
- 24:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: 2,000 more episodes or more or thereabouts.
- 24:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And as you've heard me mention before about going to the gym back in the day for me when I was younger, thinking that I was the strongest person there.
- 24:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And not even at that gym was I the strongest person there.
- 24:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wasn't.
- 24:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So many others that were and aren't stronger physically.
- 24:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I could have said no, like uh that cut me down the size.
- 24:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's I think when some of the seeds started to be planted, that Justin just focus as much as possible on being the strongest you that you can be, or the best you that you can be, and it's not cliche, it's for real.
- 25:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I could look and go, oh, the Joe Rogan experience, so popular, so famous, twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven hundred episodes.
- 25:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Dan Bon Gino show, same thing, and I could just get discouraged and go, Well, I gave it a shot.
- 26:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We gave it a shot.
- 26:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We did our best, which is true.
- 26:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We are doing our best, we're doing the best that we can.
- 26:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I can't I can't worry about others like that.
- 26:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, I can.
- 26:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Trust me.
- 26:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I do my fair share of worrying.
- 26:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I certainly do.
- 26:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it doesn't mean that you're not gonna worry ever again.
- 26:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's not what this is about.
- 26:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is about you finding something that you love, that you're passionate about, that you want to do, that not what your roommate, not what a family member, not what a teacher, what you want to do.
- 26:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Now, it could be what one of those individuals, like it could be one of those things.
- 27:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not saying that it's not, but what I am saying is at the end of the day, you're gonna finish that class, your roommate, depending.
- 27:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If they're not from the area, they're gonna move back closer.
- 27:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They may be single, you may be married, and so there's just there's just things that we go, oh, okay.
- 27:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I listened to what this person said, but I can't like hang out with them and talk about and learn from them because of any of those reasons or more.
- 28:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's so true.
- 28:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's why you have to do what you want to do that's legal, and if some people want to come along for the ride with you, gotta make sure they're as passionate as you are.
- 28:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nobody's nobody is ever gonna be as passionate about your thing, your things, than you.
- 28:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so if you're not bought into it, how are you gonna invite others and expect them to buy into what what you're doing or what what your vision is, what your goals are, how you want to do the do the things that you want to do.
- 29:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's why you have to be bought in.
- 29:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Earlier in the show, talk about what you have, and what you can start thinking about, start reading about things that you like, not things that you don't like, not things that somebody else wrote that are not interesting to you.
- 29:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or maybe you you just go learn yourself, teach yourself whatever that and those things are.
- 30:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's so many ways to go after it, but the one thing comes back is you gotta do it for yourself first because you're gonna put in more hours than the nine to five, eight to five, whatever the whatever may be.
- 30:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some jobs may travel, some jobs may not.
- 30:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some ideas and thoughts and goals could be similar, they could be different.
- 30:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But one thing I've been trying to work on is being humble.
- 30:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But man, what I just did just reaffirmed why I'm doing and what why we're doing what we're doing with voices for voices, so neat, so interesting.
- 31:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, we think about a lot of a lot of different ideas in our mind, in our head.
- 31:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Sometimes our mind says, go for it, Justin.
- 31:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some of them say, no, don't do it.
- 31:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: One person says, do it.
- 31:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The other person says, no, you stink, you suck, whatever.
- 31:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's how we build that armor of you know what?
- 31:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I really like what I'm doing.
- 32:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do other people like it?
- 32:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do if you like it you want to do it, you're able to do it, do it.
- 32:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Try it.
- 32:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Once you try it, you try you you do it w you you try it may maybe once, and after that, it's you're doing it.
- 32:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Now whether you're you're doing it and thinking well when's the money gonna come?
- 32:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When's this gonna come?
- 32:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When's that gonna come?
- 32:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It might never come.
- 32:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But if you love doing it, that's what matters.
- 33:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The money may come.
- 33:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The people you meet, some of them are the right people, some of them aren't.
- 33:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So you have to be bought into your own ideas like I do.
- 33:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I know you can do it.
- 33:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You're probably already doing it in some capacity.
- 33:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But think, have an idea, have a dream, have a goal.
- 33:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Man, just dream.
- 34:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, I'd love to do this, find out what steps need to be taken, and see if it's something that you can start right away, or it might be something that you can't start right away, but never lose that dream, that tenacity, that passion, and always give thanks to others.
- 34:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Even if they're enemies, even if they're people you never haven't talked to in twenty, thirty years, somehow, some way each interaction shapes us into who we are.
- 35:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So just go for it.
- 35:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're gonna see you on the next episode of the Voices for Voices podcast and TV show.
- 35:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you could please give us those thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, word of mouth.
- 35:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you don't have that phone out, pull it out, reach out to 25 contacts, share the voices for voices podcast, TV show with them.
- 35:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You and they can get our podcast wherever you and they already get their podcast.
- 35:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So until next time, let's celebrate all the voices of the world.
- 36:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And let's be a voice for our not only ourselves, but maybe somebody else in need.
- 36:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you next time.
- 36:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thanks for joining us for sending our love and support to you.
- 36:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you next time.
- 36:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Bye for now.
