- 1:13The Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.
- 1:20I'm your host and Tamara K.
- 1:22Anderson, and joining me today is the fabulous Carrie Angewerden, who is a member of our Women warriors of Light advisory board.
- 1:33And today we're diving into the individual nature of revelation.
- 1:39How does God talk to me?
- 1:42What I love about this question.
- 1:45God is a perfect God, a perfect father.
- 1:48And just like I, an imperfect parent, sees each of my children and knows that each of my children is so unique and different that I am going to communicate with them differently.
- 1:59They have different things that motivate them.
- 2:01They have different ways that they hear.
- 2:03My kids on the autism spectrum do so much better when I write things down and they have like a list in front of them or a sentence in front of them.
- 2:11And so each of my kids is unique.
- 2:13I think God sees us in the same way.
- 2:16Isn't it incredible that God meets us exactly where we are, especially when we're feeling overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood?
- 2:26He knows our unique styles, and he also knows when we need a little extra help managing the beautiful chaos in our homes.

- 4:06All right, now let's get back to our podcast episode.
- 4:09When our homes feel more Peaceful.
- 4:12It's so much easier to hear that unique frequency we've been talking about.
- 4:17Now, as we dive back into our conversation, Cari is going to share how she had to navigate her own connection with God when she realized it didn't look like the formal prayers she grew up with.
- 4:29My dad was very formal in the way that he spoke.
- 4:33And so in our home growing up, prayers were very formal.
- 4:38And I've, I think I've found a happy medium.
- 4:41For me, if I'm praying in a formal manner, then it doesn't feel like I'm praying to my Father.
- 4:49And so I have had to find my own way of speaking to God.
- 4:55And I know he hears me because he knows me and I know he loves me for who I am.
- 5:01For me, feelings are a good way that I hear Him.
- 5:06That burning in the chest.
- 5:08Often mine come in the form of tears.
- 5:11All of a sudden I feel overwhelmed and I'm just weepy.
- 5:16And I maybe don't know why that that has become a signal for me.
- 5:21I used to worry about, oh, I'm crying all the time.
- 5:24And then I realized, no, that's me feeling God speaking to me in my heart.
- 5:30And I don't need to feel bad about that.
- 5:33That that's something to rejoice over.
- 5:36And then, oh, that moment of clarity where you're just like, ah, yeah, that thing.
- 5:42So those are other ways that he has been able to speak to me.
- 5:45Those aha moments are often a direct.
- 5:49Fulfillment of the promise that The Holy Ghost will bring all things to your remembrance.
- 5:54I experienced this so vividly when I was desperate to help my son Jordan,.
- 6:00With his reading challenges.
- 6:02I love those epiphany moments in John 14:26.
- 6:06And this is the Savior, he says, the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name.
- 6:13He will teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance.
- 6:18And so sometimes you'll have this sudden inspiration.
- 6:22Boing.
- 6:23It just pops in your head, and you're like, oh.
- 6:25And that can be God speaking to you through the Holy Ghost, right?
- 6:29I've had other instances where it'll bring something to my mind, to my remembrance.
- 6:34I had.
- 6:34This happened very vividly once years ago.
- 6:38Our family lived in Arkansas at the time, and Nathan was a little boy and had been diagnosed with autism.
- 6:46And we needed to get some additional tests done.
- 6:50And one of the things that we needed to do was take him to a developmental optician.
- 6:58And so we had to drive clear up into Missouri to find one, even.
- 7:02And while I'm sitting there, I was flipping through some books on the coffee table there, waiting to go see the doctor.
- 7:09And it says something about vision therapy and all these testimonials.
- 7:12And I thought, oh, that's interesting.
- 7:13He does that.
- 7:14Closed it.
- 7:15Didn't think anything else of it.
- 7:16Nathan got his evaluation by this great optician, and, you know, he was fine.
- 7:22But years later, our oldest son, Jordan, was really struggling with reading.
- 7:29And he was going into fourth grade, and I just remember thinking, something is wrong with him.
- 7:36We'd taken him to an eye doctor, and he can see just fine.
- 7:40I'm like, why is he still struggling?
- 7:42And one day I just knelt down and I pray, and I'm like, dear God, I don't know what else to do for this kid.
- 7:48We've tried so many things.
- 7:50I've taken him to several eye doctors.
- 7:52What is wrong?
- 7:52Why is he struggling to read?
- 7:55And guess what popped into my head?
- 7:58That image of me flipping through the book all those years before.
- 8:02It had probably been four or five years later.
- 8:06Find that doctor and go back to him.
- 8:09He's like, he needs vision therapy.
- 8:11And I'm just like, I don't even know what that is.
- 8:14And I finally found the doctor, called him, and I explained our son's situation.
- 8:18And, yeah, they.
- 8:20They helped him.
- 8:21They got him in.
- 8:22They were finally able to diagnose what was wrong with his eyes.
- 8:25They.
- 8:26It was amazing.
- 8:27But that was the epiphany.
- 8:29This was God bringing something to my mind that I had completely forgotten about.
- 8:35But he spoke to me through a thought.
- 8:37Hey, remember this.
- 8:39Isn't it great to know that he reminds us exactly of what we need, when we need it?
- 8:45But what happens when the old way of hearing God stops working?
- 8:50Carrie has noticed that as we move through different scenes, seasons of life, we have to be more intentional about asking for a signal check with God.
- 8:59But I think sometimes it is that practice that helps God know that we are serious, that we really want that relationship.
- 9:09And it, it takes us putting in a little bit more effort than sometimes maybe we want to.
- 9:16I know I'm.
- 9:17I'm guilty of that.
- 9:18Often of I call them ceiling prayers because maybe I'm not putting in the effort enough that they're not going past my ceiling.
- 9:27And am I taking the time every day to really put into a relationship or am I just rambling words?
- 9:36And when I am more intentional about what questions I'm asking and how I'm asking them, I get a lot better answers.
- 9:46Well, and I've also evolved in how I hear and talk to God.
- 9:49And I know there's certain times of the day that I am much more coherent and likely to hear him than I am at other times.
- 9:55I know now that my morning prayers, I'm much more able to hear and receive inspiration in the morning versus my evening prayers when I am like falling asleep.
- 10:07So God knows if he wants to talk to me, it's got to be early morning.
- 10:12That's usually when I hear better, but that's just me.
- 10:15Years ago, that was not true.
- 10:17The inverse was probably true.
- 10:19I probably heard him better at night versus in the morning.
- 10:22So I think it depends on the times and seasons of our lives.
- 10:24Teach me how to best hear you now in this season of my life.
- 10:28Just because you get to know one way that he's speaking to you, doesn't mean he's not going to change that.
- 10:34He wants us to learn and stretch and grow, right?
- 10:38And so on occasion that will change.
- 10:41And we need to be aware of that too, that if all of a sudden you feel like, oh, well, I used to get answers and now I'm not getting answers, has he changed the way that he's speaking to
- 10:51you?
- 10:52And you can ask him.
- 10:53So, my friends, God is speaking to you in your unique language.
- 10:58Whether he's using tears, memories, or the quiet stillness of your morning, he is reaching out.
- 11:05You don't need to hear him like your neighbor, you just need to hear like you.
- 11:11If you're ready to discover your unique frequency, we built an amazing roadmap to Revelation Free downloadable PDF to help you tune in in this we'll talk about the first morning priority which is part of step one and invite
- 11:25you to give God the first five minutes.
- 11:28You can download the roadmap to Revelation PDF along with our receiving light and Revelation audio meditation MP3 download for free by clicking the link below.
- 11:39So my friends, go ask God today, Lord, how are you speaking to me right now?
- 11:45And ask him to help you see it and hear it and act on it.
- 11:49And until next time, may you arise.
- 11:51Do it God's way, God strong.
