- 0:00Speaker 1: Y on, it's Oh, this one's a doozy Thou leather jerkin,
- 0:29Speaker 1: crystal button, not patted, a gathering puke, stocking, catas garter,
- 0:34Speaker 1: smooth tongue, Spanish pouch. Okay, that would have been perfect
- 0:39Speaker 1: for me, because I'm just like the Spanish part at
- 0:45Speaker 1: the end, Thou love of foul deformity. Oh damn God,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Thou sodden witted. Lord, Thou hast no more brain than
- 0:58Speaker 1: I have in mine elbows? You could, that'd be perfect
- 1:05Speaker 1: for you, because because you've got no elbow, I got one, one.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Fully completed elbow. Hi.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Welcome to book watchers where I'm insulted.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Welcome to the book where I just read. H yes, welcome
- 1:27Speaker 1: to book watchers, where I just read Devin to filth
- 1:30Speaker 1: with Shakespearean insults. These are actual insults that came from
- 1:36Speaker 1: like Shakespearean books. Like they weren't just like inspired by Shakespeare.
- 1:40Speaker 1: These are actually insults that come from there, from his
- 1:44Speaker 1: books and his from the books, from his uh, from
- 1:47Speaker 1: his plays all that. I'm just like h the eloquence
- 1:57Speaker 1: mm hmmm mmm mm hmm.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But yeah, welcome to book watchers. I'm Devin. You know me,
- 2:04Speaker 2: you love me? And then of course we have mister
- 2:11Speaker 2: mhm bitch. Now I miss so much, my love so dearly.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Don't you miss me because I miss you.
- 2:25Speaker 3: M come on, I relate to those I relate. I
- 2:30Speaker 3: relate to the backyard crew. Mhm, I miss you. I
- 2:35Speaker 3: miss you too.
- 2:38Speaker 1: See this is this is why I don't say it,
- 2:40Speaker 1: because as soon as I say it, You're just like, yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 1: that was weird. That was kind of weird. It was
- 2:50Speaker 1: a weird reading, like I'm Joe and you're the other guy.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Oh you're talking yeah, sorry, Frank, yes, and he started.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I was like calling him Joe like in my head,
- 3:07Speaker 1: like Joey Frank.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Frank, Oh no, yeah, yeah, they're us this. We're gayer
- 3:15Speaker 2: obviously because we're obviously.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yes, I'm gay.
- 3:20Speaker 3: You're by allegedly, oh oh oh, here we go allegedly,
- 3:27Speaker 3: oh allegedly. Oh oh okay, okay, I am I'm one
- 3:37Speaker 3: gay as an I'm not physically attracted to women at all.
- 3:40Speaker 1: This fool over here is by which he's supposed to
- 3:43Speaker 1: have some attraction to men, to both men and women.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But he is gayer than me, so he is gay me. Okay,
- 3:52Speaker 1: phobiaphobia whatever, it's not biphobia if you don't exist, And
- 4:10Speaker 1: for the record, I know I'm.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Not, and that's why God built you.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Like that boom and just like you just do a
- 4:17Speaker 1: close my face face and it's just like captioned stairs
- 4:20Speaker 1: and motherfuckers, and.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Then I think and then a then a a picture
- 4:26Speaker 3: of a hand comes up and goes boom.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna bite that finger off one of these days,
- 4:35Speaker 1: Like one of these days, I'm just gonna like chop
- 4:37Speaker 1: down that finger when you try to boot me. I'm
- 4:41Speaker 1: just gonna be like.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Boo always anyway. So if you look at the description below,
- 4:47Speaker 2: you will see a link link to all the other
- 4:51Speaker 2: podcasts and the Autoba Production Family podcasts, as well as
- 4:53Speaker 2: the YouTube channel. Hi, how are you gonna subscribe?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:00Speaker 2: I couldn't get any gear with that trust man tried.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 2: So what are we talking about today? Talking about the
- 5:14Speaker 2: Mortal Instruments.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So today we are gonna be talking about the fifth
- 5:22Speaker 1: book in the Mortal Instrument series. This is gonna be
- 5:27Speaker 1: Moral Instrument, City of Lost Souls. Uh So this is
- 5:32Speaker 1: the second to the last installment of the series. Uh
- 5:36Speaker 1: this one was this book so like from the last
- 5:42Speaker 1: book that we read, that one was more of personally,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I thought that one was more of a filler book.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Uh huh, because not much happened of course until like
- 5:54Speaker 1: the confrontation with Lilith and then the resurrection of Jonathan
- 6:00Speaker 1: all them. H this book is more aggravating because, like
- 6:06Speaker 1: the for me personally, it's more aggravating because there's a
- 6:09Speaker 1: lot of shit that happens, and uh, you know, Jonathan
- 6:15Speaker 1: is back, and oh my god, I hate Jonathan so much.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He's such a piece of shit. He no longer goes.
- 6:22Speaker 1: The thing about Jonathan is that like, even though yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: he's Jonathan, he prefers to still go by his the
- 6:30Speaker 1: name he took on in book three, City of Glass,
- 6:34Speaker 1: he disguised himself as a as a shadow hunter names Sebastian.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So he decides to like call himself that, call himself
- 6:41Speaker 1: Sebastian because it's his way of separating himself from both
- 6:45Speaker 1: Balan Sign and Johncelyn. He has no real love for
- 6:49Speaker 1: his mom, mainly because, like he even though he is
- 6:52Speaker 1: a like half demon psychopath, he still feeling has like
- 6:56Speaker 1: some like feelings of like resentment towards her because like
- 7:01Speaker 1: he feels like she abandoned him and never gave him
- 7:04Speaker 1: a chance like love and normal life whatever, blah blah blah,
- 7:07Speaker 1: But deep down he doesn't even give a shit because,
- 7:10Speaker 1: like thee think about being the thing is that he
- 7:14Speaker 1: has both the blood of and Razial flowing through his veins.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So he's still a shadow hunter, but he's a shadow
- 7:22Speaker 1: hunter that's been augmented by a greater demon's blood and
- 7:27Speaker 1: this makes him into this so the socio psychopathic killer
- 7:35Speaker 1: like he has no real empathy for anybody around him,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and honestly, in the eyes of his father, Valentine, Jonathan
- 7:47Speaker 1: was more of a failure as an experiment than Jace was.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Jace was more along the lines of what Valentine was
- 7:56Speaker 1: looking for, but Valentine still felt that Jace was a
- 8:00Speaker 1: failure because thinking about Jonathan was that Jonathan was too
- 8:04Speaker 1: aggressive and too much of a cold blooded killer, while
- 8:06Speaker 1: Jace was too affectionate and well. Valentine, in his own way,
- 8:13Speaker 1: he loved he loved Jase for that. He raised Jason's
- 8:16Speaker 1: his own son, and you know it's like he he
- 8:18Speaker 1: loved him for that, but that's not what he was
- 8:20Speaker 1: looking for. He wanted a weapon. And even though Jonathan
- 8:23Speaker 1: was too aggressive and too psychopathic. He was still more
- 8:28Speaker 1: of what Valentine was looking for in his ultimate weapon,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but now this is coming to bite him in the button.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Even though Valentine is no longer I'm among us, He's
- 8:41Speaker 1: Valentine is now a pile of ashes.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Good and making rotten.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Hell mm hmm yep. Uh So, I'm not gonna go
- 8:51Speaker 1: into too much detail about this book. This book was like,
- 8:58Speaker 1: not really my favorite. Like this book and Book four,
- 9:00Speaker 1: we're not really my favorite in the series because not
- 9:03Speaker 1: a lot happens. And while it sets up john they
- 9:06Speaker 1: they the real purpose is to set up Jonathan as
- 9:09Speaker 1: the new big bad guy. He takes He takes Valentine's
- 9:13Speaker 1: place as the big bad evil guy, and arguably he
- 9:17Speaker 1: is worse than Valentine because we're valanced. Where Valentine failed,
- 9:21Speaker 1: Jonathan really succeeds. Uh So, Throughout the majority of this book,
- 9:27Speaker 1: uh the shadow Hunter team, Clarie, the Lightwoods, from Clarie's
- 9:32Speaker 1: own mother, and even Simon, they all are trying. They
- 9:37Speaker 1: are all trying, trying their hardest to track down Jase
- 9:41Speaker 1: because in the wake of the fight with Lilith, Jace
- 9:45Speaker 1: had disappeared, and so did the body of Jonathan. Now
- 9:51Speaker 1: the worst case. Unfortunately, the worst case scenario is that
- 9:54Speaker 1: the they have to uh, they have to assume that
- 9:57Speaker 1: Jonathan is now uh is now out alive and he's
- 10:02Speaker 1: operating again, and the whole shadow Hunter world has been
- 10:06Speaker 1: completely put on high alert. They're looking for John, they're
- 10:10Speaker 1: looking for Jonathan, and they're looking for Jason. But they're
- 10:12Speaker 1: looking for Jason the assumption that he is a hostage
- 10:15Speaker 1: of some kind. The thing is is that Clary is
- 10:23Speaker 1: you know, she feels powerless. She doesn't know like what
- 10:25Speaker 1: she can do because since she's still an underage shadow Hunter,
- 10:28Speaker 1: they're keeping her pretty far away from this. They're not
- 10:31Speaker 1: really telling her what's going on or what like, how
- 10:35Speaker 1: are what steps they're taking to find Jase.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You know, she of course turns to her best friend, Simon.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Simon is dealing with his own problems. He can't return
- 10:49Speaker 1: to his home because his mother kicked him out after
- 10:53Speaker 1: finding out he's a vampire. And he can't even get
- 10:56Speaker 1: into his own home because she put a bunch of
- 10:59Speaker 1: religious and that repel Simon. And since Simon is yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and since Simon is Jewish, the symbols are all like
- 11:07Speaker 1: Jewish related, so ironically Christian Catholic symbology don't affect him,
- 11:14Speaker 1: but Jewish religious symbols do, so it's like, oh, okay,
- 11:19Speaker 1: so the divine like what usually repels vampires is like
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, God, God, holy symbology, things like that, but
- 11:30Speaker 1: it's also like affected by their beliefs. So for Jewish
- 11:34Speaker 1: he's still technically within that religious range. Is just that
- 11:37Speaker 1: since he's part of the Jewish faith, that's the only
- 11:41Speaker 1: part that that's the only part of that whole like
- 11:44Speaker 1: religion that will affect him. And I'm pretty sure if
- 11:49Speaker 1: there was an I'm pretty sure if there was an
- 11:51Speaker 1: Arabic if there was an Arabic vampire, I'm pretty sure
- 11:55Speaker 1: like the Koran, the Qoran, and like the Islamic symbologies
- 12:00Speaker 1: would probably repel at least in like at least in
- 12:04Speaker 1: Cassandra Player's books. But anyway, while while they are trying
- 12:11Speaker 1: to figure out where she where Jaces, they decide to
- 12:16Speaker 1: turn to the Sealy Queen and for help. In return,
- 12:21Speaker 1: they agree to deliver two fairy rings too. They just
- 12:29Speaker 1: they agree to deliver a pair of fairy fairy rings.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And the thing about the fairy rings is that they
- 12:34Speaker 1: allow telepathic communication between the wearers so while uh so,
- 12:42Speaker 1: the furcos of the rings were to help, like thee
- 12:44Speaker 1: The thing about the Sealy Queen is that you know
- 12:46Speaker 1: they she knows more than she lets on, but she
- 12:48Speaker 1: likes to fuck around and like play around with you
- 12:51Speaker 1: as she gives out the answers, so like she'll give
- 12:53Speaker 1: you the answer, but in like a very indirect way,
- 12:56Speaker 1: so like like the best way to like the way
- 13:00Speaker 1: of telling Clary, like the best way to find Jase
- 13:03Speaker 1: is to join him, right and well, these rings will help,
- 13:08Speaker 1: like are supposed to help. The thing is is that
- 13:14Speaker 1: while she's trying to figure out what these rings do,
- 13:16Speaker 1: she takes them back to the shadow Hunter library in
- 13:18Speaker 1: the Institute, and while she's there, she notices that Jace
- 13:21Speaker 1: is there, and he is also there with her half
- 13:28Speaker 1: brother Jonathan or Sebastian We're gonna refer to him as
- 13:30Speaker 1: Sebastian from for the rest of the book. Ah, And
- 13:34Speaker 1: she knows she doesn't like, she doesn't like reveal herself
- 13:38Speaker 1: at me. At first she she sees Jason, she's like
- 13:40Speaker 1: like excited to see him, but then she sees Sebastian,
- 13:44Speaker 1: She's like, wait, what's going on? And the way that
- 13:46Speaker 1: they're they're acting with each other. They're acting like they're
- 13:48Speaker 1: very buddy buddy, yeah, like Kate, like as if they're
- 13:53Speaker 1: as if they're like best friends instead of like mortal enemies,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like one didn't try killing the other a few months back.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And the thing is is that they don't stay long.
- 14:05Speaker 1: They eventually like sneak out of the library, and she does,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and she keeps herself headed, and she later tells the
- 14:11Speaker 1: others about what she saw. Uh. Later that very night though,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and she wakes up. She she had fully moved in
- 14:20Speaker 1: with her stepdad, Luke at alongside her mom, and she's
- 14:25Speaker 1: in her room at Luke's house and when she woke
- 14:27Speaker 1: up in the middle of the night and she notices that, oh,
- 14:29Speaker 1: Jace is right there. So even the thing is is
- 14:35Speaker 1: that Jace really wants Clary to join him because he
- 14:40Speaker 1: is traveling the world with Sebastian. He doesn't really tell
- 14:43Speaker 1: her what they're doing, but you know, she's he's really
- 14:46Speaker 1: trying to sell the whole light, you know, Oh, he's
- 14:50Speaker 1: just really he's just a really good guy and misunderstood.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You know, we're just you know, like trying to like
- 14:56Speaker 1: really sell it. But he doesn't. She doesn't me go
- 15:00Speaker 1: with him. And the thing is is that, well, Jason
- 15:04Speaker 1: is there. Sebastian's also there, but he's waiting like outside
- 15:08Speaker 1: the room. And the thing is is that since in
- 15:13Speaker 1: the middle of the night, Jocelyn does wake up and
- 15:15Speaker 1: she goes into the kitchen and she sees him there
- 15:17Speaker 1: and she kind of freaks out. And the thing is
- 15:20Speaker 1: is that Jocelyn, you know, she recognizes her son, and
- 15:25Speaker 1: she is like she's had long since mourned the loss
- 15:30Speaker 1: of her son. But the person she sees before him
- 15:33Speaker 1: before her, she doesn't really consider him her son. Like
- 15:35Speaker 1: she recognizes him and she does feel sorry because there
- 15:40Speaker 1: was nothing she could have done to prevent him from
- 15:42Speaker 1: becoming from being turned into what he is. So and
- 15:45Speaker 1: to her, the like she still has that shadow hunter
- 15:48Speaker 1: mindset where it's like kill the demon. And when she
- 15:53Speaker 1: when he was a baby, there were a few times
- 15:55Speaker 1: where she contemplated killing her killing Jonathan because she somehow
- 16:01Speaker 1: could tell that something was off with Jonathan, like it's
- 16:04Speaker 1: almost like he was born without a soul. And now
- 16:14Speaker 1: and now like she feels like it's her duty to
- 16:17Speaker 1: do to finish the job. So she immediately pulls out
- 16:19Speaker 1: a knife and attacks Jonathan, and Jonathan disarms her. Luke
- 16:24Speaker 1: here's the commotion comes out and the two fight for
- 16:27Speaker 1: a bit and fight for a bit, but thinking Sebastian
- 16:33Speaker 1: being part demon, he's also much stronger than a natural
- 16:37Speaker 1: shadow hunter and he's a lot faster, so he was
- 16:39Speaker 1: strong and fast enough to take on a werewolf like
- 16:43Speaker 1: Luke because werewolves are pretty strong. But Sebastian was stronger
- 16:46Speaker 1: and he overpowers Luke and stabs him. It's pretty it
- 16:50Speaker 1: was a pretty uh it's a critical wound, but it's not.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It doesn't kill Luke, so he's good. Jason Sebastian disappear
- 16:59Speaker 1: from the Sebastian looked like he was ready to like
- 17:02Speaker 1: kill everybody in the house, but Jay stepped in grasping
- 17:06Speaker 1: and they just disappeared. And but before they disappeared, Jace
- 17:14Speaker 1: tells Clariy that he's going to be back for her
- 17:17Speaker 1: after this whole event, Jocelyn takes Looke to his pack
- 17:22Speaker 1: so that they can for treatment and Jocelyn and while
- 17:25Speaker 1: he's recovering, Jocelyn decides that the best way to protect
- 17:28Speaker 1: themselves from Sebastian is to move themselves into place that's
- 17:31Speaker 1: highly warded Jocelyn, she doesn't. Still, she still doesn't fully
- 17:35Speaker 1: trust the the Clave, and since because of her role
- 17:41Speaker 1: and since she was the former wife of Valentine, the
- 17:44Speaker 1: Clave doesn't really fully accept her. So the only other
- 17:47Speaker 1: place they can go to is to the High Warlock
- 17:51Speaker 1: of Brooklyn, and that is Magna Spain. So mad disagrees
- 17:56Speaker 1: to take them in. And the thing is is that
- 18:00Speaker 1: Jocelyn does not really approve of Jass and Clari's relationship,
- 18:06Speaker 1: and she tries to convince Claire that, you know, Jace
- 18:08Speaker 1: isn't really a good choice of a partner, and because
- 18:12Speaker 1: of his influence and his upbringing under Valentine, he might
- 18:15Speaker 1: actually turn out to be just like him, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 1: And that's her own fear and anxiety overcoming her. But
- 18:20Speaker 1: like Clary is not having it. She's like, he's nothing
- 18:23Speaker 1: like Valentine. And you know, it's that you know teenage
- 18:29Speaker 1: love thing, you know, like, oh I love him, We're
- 18:32Speaker 1: meant to be together. Yeah, yeah, I mean there's more,
- 18:39Speaker 1: there's more nuance to it. But like, honestly, like when
- 18:42Speaker 1: you read these kind of like since this this whole
- 18:45Speaker 1: these stories are you know, young. The Moral Instruments is
- 18:47Speaker 1: tailored for young adult readers. So it's teen romance kind of.
- 18:51Speaker 1: It's the teen romance for me. And I'm like, you know,
- 18:55Speaker 1: I read these books a lot when I was a teen,
- 18:58Speaker 1: but now I'm older, I'm just I'm reading these and like,
- 19:03Speaker 1: m it's not for me anymore. Yeah, there's still good
- 19:07Speaker 1: books there. Really, there's still are good books. And the
- 19:10Speaker 1: TV show that it was adapted into was actually not bad.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I didn't I did not hate it. Put have been better,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but I didn't hate it. And yeah, that's that's pretty
- 19:26Speaker 1: much it. And you know, it's rare to see like
- 19:28Speaker 1: a story written around the Christian mythology and Cassandra Clair
- 19:36Speaker 1: not only through in like that, like those mythologies, but
- 19:40Speaker 1: also throw in Celtic and Irish mythology, you know, with
- 19:44Speaker 1: the Fay and there's a few other like cultural stuff
- 19:49Speaker 1: that she threw is in there. But but notice way
- 19:50Speaker 1: she blends Celtic with the Christian Judeo mythology with you know, angels, demons, heaven,
- 19:59Speaker 1: Hell and in the Fay and the Fay a just
- 20:03Speaker 1: half are just like half angel half demons. Yeah, not
- 20:08Speaker 1: actual mephalone, but like you know, more neutral party. Going
- 20:19Speaker 1: back to yeah, going back to the story. Uh Clarie.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Uh Clarie storms out after her argument with her mom
- 20:30Speaker 1: and meets and goes to meet up with Simon. And
- 20:33Speaker 1: this is around the time that they figure out that
- 20:35Speaker 1: the fairy rings allow them to communicate telepathically, so when
- 20:39Speaker 1: one is wearing so when they're each warning it, they
- 20:41Speaker 1: can both uh sense each other. They can both hear
- 20:43Speaker 1: each other's thoughts. So she decides that she's gonna go.
- 20:47Speaker 1: She's going to join Jays a bastion, but not as
- 20:50Speaker 1: like a you know, like as a buddy, but as
- 20:53Speaker 1: a spy. So she's gonna and she's gonna report back
- 20:56Speaker 1: like her location and uh pretty much everything back to
- 20:59Speaker 1: someone in the rings. So Jace eventually does come with her,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and she comes to her and she agrees to go
- 21:08Speaker 1: with him. And when she goes with them, she realizes
- 21:13Speaker 1: that the reason why nobody has been able to find
- 21:15Speaker 1: either of them is because they're using a special kind
- 21:19Speaker 1: of house that it's like house moving castle, except it's
- 21:25Speaker 1: not like a moving ca It's not like it's not
- 21:28Speaker 1: like the actual like moving castle, but you know, like
- 21:31Speaker 1: the castle itself, the interior the castle is linked to
- 21:35Speaker 1: different doorways. It's like that, but the house itself kind
- 21:40Speaker 1: of like sits in like limbo, so it's undetectable. But
- 21:46Speaker 1: Sebastian's able to is able to shift its location anywhere
- 21:50Speaker 1: in the world, so while they're in the house, they
- 21:53Speaker 1: can they're undetectable. And where the house connects, like what
- 21:58Speaker 1: part of the world the house connects itself too, they're
- 22:01Speaker 1: able to get in and out they like they need
- 22:03Speaker 1: to use like a special like artifact to get into
- 22:06Speaker 1: the house. But still, this is this is why no
- 22:09Speaker 1: one was able, This is why no one is able
- 22:14Speaker 1: to track them down. And while she's and while she's
- 22:17Speaker 1: staying with them, she realizes that Jase is acting very strangely.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Is acting strangely and realize as soon that this is
- 22:24Speaker 1: due to the fact that Lilith began popul to resurrect
- 22:32Speaker 1: Sebastian in the previous book. She had marked Jas with
- 22:35Speaker 1: a strange kind of demonic room. This room is like
- 22:38Speaker 1: the demonic version of this of the angelic rooms that
- 22:41Speaker 1: the shadow Hunters use, and this room allows Sebastian to
- 22:47Speaker 1: essentially possess Jase, so while the room is intact on
- 22:53Speaker 1: his skin, it completely puts Jase under Sebastian's control, and
- 23:00Speaker 1: you know, this explains why Jase is acting so buddy
- 23:04Speaker 1: buddy with Sebastian and why it seems like why it
- 23:10Speaker 1: seems like he's willing to do evil shit so now,
- 23:17Speaker 1: and she does report this back to Sebastian, who reports,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'm sorry, not a Subastian. She reports her findings back
- 23:23Speaker 1: to Simon, who tells the shadow Hunters. And now the
- 23:27Speaker 1: shadow Hunters have to figure out a way to kill
- 23:29Speaker 1: Sebastian without killing Jase, because the thing about the room
- 23:33Speaker 1: is that it also binds them together, binds their life
- 23:35Speaker 1: force together, So if Sebastian dies, Jace dies, So they
- 23:40Speaker 1: have to figure out a way to separate the two.
- 23:45Speaker 1: But the thing about the Claid is that they're pretty
- 23:49Speaker 1: single minded and simplistic, and for them, like the best
- 23:53Speaker 1: thing to do is just like.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Oh, just kill them both, not kill them at both.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Yeah. She eventually learns about this, and like Claria does
- 24:04Speaker 1: learn about this, and she's like now even more desperate
- 24:06Speaker 1: to figure out a way to separate separate Sebastian from
- 24:10Speaker 1: Jays And and that way the Claive can go ahead
- 24:14Speaker 1: and just kill Sebastian. But she has to bide her
- 24:17Speaker 1: time and she just keeps on keeping on. And as
- 24:21Speaker 1: they travel the world, going back, going back to the Hunters.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Once they realized that once Clary had alerted the shadow
- 24:32Speaker 1: Hunters of what the Rone is doing, Isabelle Lightwood and
- 24:37Speaker 1: Clarie's mother, Johncelyn, decide to take a trip to the
- 24:40Speaker 1: stronghold of the Iron Sisters. Now the Iron Sisters, they
- 24:45Speaker 1: are the counterparts to the Silent Brothers. So I think
- 24:50Speaker 1: the Silent Brothers are like the They're like more God,
- 24:55Speaker 1: what do you like, what's the what's the general term
- 24:57Speaker 1: for like monks and abbots, Like, they're like they're like
- 25:02Speaker 1: the scholars of the They're kind of like the scholarly
- 25:05Speaker 1: guild and within the shadow Hunter society. Think about the
- 25:10Speaker 1: think about the Silent Brothers is that they they not
- 25:12Speaker 1: only like they uphold the traditions and the law, and
- 25:16Speaker 1: they also act as like the healers for the for
- 25:19Speaker 1: the greater shadow Hunters, and they perform like all these
- 25:22Speaker 1: different kinds of shadow Hunter rituals and stuff. What separates
- 25:25Speaker 1: them from normal shadow Hunters is that they take on
- 25:28Speaker 1: they mark themselves with some of the most powerful room
- 25:32Speaker 1: excuse me, runs within that is found within the Great
- 25:35Speaker 1: Book which has all of the rooms the shadow hunters
- 25:38Speaker 1: know of. And the thing about these RUMs is that
- 25:41Speaker 1: they're so powerful that even normal shadow hunters can't exactly
- 25:46Speaker 1: handle them as easily as just like the everyday run
- 25:50Speaker 1: of the mill of runs. So when they take these,
- 25:53Speaker 1: when they mark themselves with these runs, it does cause
- 25:56Speaker 1: their body to be to become deformed. So like the
- 25:59Speaker 1: most extreme deformity that they get is like their eyes
- 26:04Speaker 1: basically disappear from their eye sockets, leaving just these like
- 26:08Speaker 1: indentions where their eyes should be. And whether I think
- 26:12Speaker 1: this is just this must be more of a ritualistic practice.
- 26:15Speaker 1: But the Silent Brothers stitch their lips closed so they
- 26:19Speaker 1: don't yeah, so, and they all wear the same kind
- 26:24Speaker 1: of like like light brown like robes, and in some case,
- 26:29Speaker 1: like a lot these robes are kind of unsettling to
- 26:31Speaker 1: a lot of people because you know, they don't make
- 26:35Speaker 1: a sound. That's pretty much why like they're called the
- 26:37Speaker 1: Silent Brothers because when they move, they don't make any
- 26:40Speaker 1: sound whatsoever. And the only way they yeah, the only
- 26:43Speaker 1: way the shadow the Silent Brothers speak is telepathically, and
- 26:50Speaker 1: uh so they're very unsettling even to normal shadow Hunters,
- 26:53Speaker 1: but they often they oftentimes they don't take any part
- 26:56Speaker 1: in like you know, the shot and the hunting or
- 27:00Speaker 1: you know, or any kind of account of Marshall. At
- 27:05Speaker 1: these they're the scholars, they're the historians, they're the like
- 27:10Speaker 1: they play the role that like monks would play. So
- 27:14Speaker 1: you know, like back then monks and monasteries they would
- 27:17Speaker 1: have like they would have large repository of like books
- 27:21Speaker 1: and knowledge, and you know, of course they would like
- 27:24Speaker 1: they were the ones that would were very educated in
- 27:27Speaker 1: reading and writing and things like that. It's very similar
- 27:30Speaker 1: to that now. The Iron Sisters are their counterparts. But
- 27:37Speaker 1: unlike the Silent Brothers who take on these powerful ruins
- 27:41Speaker 1: and like and like maintain the history and traditions of
- 27:44Speaker 1: the of shadow Hunter Society, the Iron Sisters they are
- 27:49Speaker 1: the articipers of the shadow Hunter Society. They're the forge masters,
- 27:54Speaker 1: they are the blacksmiths. They're the ones that build all
- 27:57Speaker 1: of the weapons for shadow Hunters. So thing about shadow
- 28:01Speaker 1: Hunters is that they can't use modern weaponry because for
- 28:05Speaker 1: some reason, runs uh runs basically render any kind of
- 28:13Speaker 1: modern weapon inert. So like they don't work well with
- 28:16Speaker 1: electronic devices. And like shadow Hunters were never able to eat,
- 28:22Speaker 1: we're able never able to move up to like using
- 28:24Speaker 1: guns because for some reason, if they tried marking their
- 28:28Speaker 1: bullets or their weapons with their rooms, the for some
- 28:33Speaker 1: reason the Runes renders the gunpowder inert, making it impossible
- 28:40Speaker 1: for them to use these guns, because you know, gunpowder
- 28:42Speaker 1: is how they is, how a project a bullet is
- 28:46Speaker 1: you know, violently flung like shot out of the guns.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So like, for some reason render these weapons inert, so
- 28:55Speaker 1: they have to rely on crude old like the olden
- 28:58Speaker 1: weapons like bows as spears, swords. You know, they get
- 29:02Speaker 1: creative and the ones who make it are the Iron Sisters.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So so Jocelyn and Isabel decide to visit the Iron
- 29:09Speaker 1: Sisters because they might know of something that could kill
- 29:14Speaker 1: Sebastian without killing jasonthing that may help them sever the
- 29:19Speaker 1: link between the two of them. And when they meet
- 29:24Speaker 1: the Iron Sisters, the Iron Sisters unlike the Silent Brothers. Yeah,
- 29:28Speaker 1: they do possess like some minor deformities because of the
- 29:33Speaker 1: rooms that they mark themselves with, but these rooms are
- 29:36Speaker 1: more meant to like enhance their abilities to shape materials
- 29:41Speaker 1: into weapons and other and pretty much any other like
- 29:45Speaker 1: like pretty much anything else that the shadow Hunters might need,
- 29:48Speaker 1: like building materials and things like that. So the Iron
- 29:52Speaker 1: Sisters they look more or less human like, more or
- 29:57Speaker 1: less like normal humans. They have like of course, like
- 30:00Speaker 1: the ritualistic markings on their faces. They all wear like
- 30:04Speaker 1: this kind of like same like white schmocks kind of
- 30:08Speaker 1: like blacksmith clothing, but it's all white. And and I'm
- 30:16Speaker 1: sure to remember what the iers like. They all have
- 30:18Speaker 1: somelar like grayish tone to their skin. And the most like,
- 30:25Speaker 1: the most obvious deformity they have is that their fingers
- 30:31Speaker 1: are slightly more elongated. So they have these very like
- 30:36Speaker 1: long like more or less like long thin like fingers.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And honestly, like I believe that like this is a
- 30:45Speaker 1: this is a meat like a transformation, the deliberate transformation
- 30:48Speaker 1: to make it more easier for them to mold weapons
- 30:52Speaker 1: and like you know, be able to like handle like
- 30:55Speaker 1: the finer details of weaponsmithing and other kinds of forging,
- 31:01Speaker 1: you know, And because like they're they're they're type of
- 31:03Speaker 1: the type of work they do is more than just
- 31:05Speaker 1: like oh like hammer, anvil, you know, kilns and uh,
- 31:11Speaker 1: you know the forge itself, right, they use they use
- 31:15Speaker 1: runs to help them in their process. So it's a
- 31:18Speaker 1: lot more intricate and delicate process. Now, the Silent the
- 31:23Speaker 1: Iron Sisters, I keep wanting to call them Silent Sisters,
- 31:27Speaker 1: the Iron Sisters. Yeah, the Iron Sisters. Once they once
- 31:33Speaker 1: they once they head to the Iron Sisters stronghold. They
- 31:37Speaker 1: the Iron Sisters revealed to Jocelyn and Isabelle that on
- 31:42Speaker 1: that the only way that they can kill kill Sebastian
- 31:46Speaker 1: without killing Jase is to use a heavenly weapon. Now,
- 31:53Speaker 1: the different the reason the heavenly weapon is different from
- 31:57Speaker 1: the angel weapons that the shadow Hunters use because the
- 32:01Speaker 1: shadow Hunters do use a special material called atomis and
- 32:05Speaker 1: they shape them into blades they call Seraph blades. And
- 32:08Speaker 1: the cool thing about Sarah blades is that they look
- 32:10Speaker 1: like they look almost like a diamond like it's made
- 32:12Speaker 1: of like an opay. The metal is like an opaque
- 32:15Speaker 1: crystal like material, right. And the thing about these weapons
- 32:19Speaker 1: is that if a shadow Hunter uses a Seraph blade,
- 32:23Speaker 1: they can speak the name of an angel and that
- 32:27Speaker 1: angel's essence basically gets some in someon into the blade
- 32:31Speaker 1: and the blade begins to glow that further charge that
- 32:34Speaker 1: further enhances the blades's power and demon killing properties, so
- 32:38Speaker 1: like Atomis, swords are Sarah blades are often used when
- 32:42Speaker 1: fighting when fighting demons, while regular more conventional weapons are
- 32:45Speaker 1: often used for like other monsters like where, wolves, vampires, fae.
- 32:51Speaker 1: You know Isabelle herself. Her preferred weapon is an electron
- 32:55Speaker 1: is an electron wire whip, which electron is also very
- 32:59Speaker 1: useful against demons. Alec uses a bow and arrow, so
- 33:05Speaker 1: he's pretty he's a pretty well accomplished nurcher. Clarie, as
- 33:10Speaker 1: she gets further along in her training, she actually chooses
- 33:13Speaker 1: a pair of daggers to use and like as her
- 33:15Speaker 1: standard weapon. Though the funny thing is she doesn't realize
- 33:18Speaker 1: this until later, but someone tells her that those that
- 33:21Speaker 1: the two daggers she chose once belonged to her parents,
- 33:25Speaker 1: so like one belonged to Valentine and the other one
- 33:28Speaker 1: belonged to the other one belonged to her mother, Jocelyn.
- 33:34Speaker 1: So she was like, okay, cool, not entirely happily about that,
- 33:43Speaker 1: but she also in Clarire's travel, she also gets a
- 33:47Speaker 1: hold of a short sword and it turns out it's
- 33:50Speaker 1: it's a Morganstern family heirloom. Ah Sebastian actually carries its counterpart,
- 33:58Speaker 1: so like there's a short sword and then there was
- 33:59Speaker 1: a like an actual broadsword. They have the markings of
- 34:02Speaker 1: the Morgenstern family, which is like a star, which is
- 34:07Speaker 1: like a series of stars, and so like, oh cool,
- 34:10Speaker 1: we both have family heirlooms. Woo. But the thing is
- 34:16Speaker 1: is that a heavenly weapon is something that the angels
- 34:19Speaker 1: themselves use, like weapons of heaven that came from heaven.
- 34:24Speaker 1: So after learning about this, they convene at they convene
- 34:30Speaker 1: in Magnus's house and they start brainstorming ideas of how
- 34:34Speaker 1: they can get their hands on one, and they realize
- 34:36Speaker 1: the only way they can get a heavenly weapon is
- 34:40Speaker 1: to get it from Heaven itself, and the only way
- 34:42Speaker 1: to do that is to get it to ask an
- 34:44Speaker 1: angel for one, well, the one angel they can really ask,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and that's an angel that's helped shadow hunters in the
- 34:51Speaker 1: past before, an arch angel Razial. They get the brilliant
- 34:59Speaker 1: idea to summon Rezeal again. Oh god, yep. Now the
- 35:06Speaker 1: thing is is that uh not to like not to
- 35:11Speaker 1: like play into the Lord of the Rings mean, but
- 35:14Speaker 1: one does not simply summon an angel yeah, because here's
- 35:19Speaker 1: the thing. Angels are not like demons. Okay, demons they well,
- 35:24Speaker 1: they may not be thrilled to be summoned by humans.
- 35:26Speaker 1: They often look forward to humans summing them because this
- 35:29Speaker 1: is a way for demons to like get access to
- 35:31Speaker 1: our world and cause and just function up. Angels are different.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Thing about angels is that they don't want to be
- 35:38Speaker 1: on They don't want to be on a plane of
- 35:39Speaker 1: existence like they will they do their duty to protect
- 35:43Speaker 1: them all, to protect reality, keep the demonic hosts at Bay, right,
- 35:48Speaker 1: the majority of the demonic hosts of Bay. They do
- 35:50Speaker 1: their duty, right, but they do it within their realms
- 35:52Speaker 1: of existence, right when they answer our plane of existence
- 35:56Speaker 1: thing about things, Even like angels, they can't stay in
- 35:59Speaker 1: our in our place of existence for very long. It's
- 36:01Speaker 1: actually painful for them, right, because they don't belong here.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm like demons who relished in like taking over and
- 36:07Speaker 1: like corrupting other realities. Angels don't like that all right,
- 36:12Speaker 1: So they they limit their time on Earth very much.
- 36:14Speaker 1: That's why you rarely see them. So if you summon
- 36:18Speaker 1: an angel, it's more than likely going to kill you
- 36:23Speaker 1: just to suit like. So in some cases, if you
- 36:26Speaker 1: if you try to summon a more powerful angel and
- 36:28Speaker 1: the and that angel sent like realizes that you're about
- 36:31Speaker 1: to summon it, it might strike you down before you
- 36:33Speaker 1: can complete the summoning. That's how much angels don't like
- 36:40Speaker 1: being fucked with. You don't You don't just simply summon
- 36:43Speaker 1: an angel. And in Razil's case, Raziel is definitely not
- 36:49Speaker 1: going to be happy because for one thing, he is
- 36:51Speaker 1: a high ranking angel of Heaven. He's not going to
- 36:53Speaker 1: be You don't just call him up like you know.
- 36:56Speaker 1: He he this pool is busy, like he's got a
- 36:58Speaker 1: schedule to keep right. But the thing is is that
- 37:02Speaker 1: they realized they really need a weapon of heaven, and
- 37:06Speaker 1: Razeil seems to be the only one that would be
- 37:09Speaker 1: able to give them this weapon. And when they decide
- 37:14Speaker 1: to figure when they when they finalize their plan, they
- 37:16Speaker 1: decide that Simon is the best person to complete the summoning,
- 37:21Speaker 1: like Magnus will bring the components together, he'll put he
- 37:24Speaker 1: will get the He'll basically start the summoning, but Simon
- 37:29Speaker 1: has to finish it because once Simon, someone said technically,
- 37:34Speaker 1: Razil would be compelled to answer to Simon and not
- 37:39Speaker 1: to Magnus. And since Simon has the mark of Kine
- 37:44Speaker 1: on his forehead, still, if Rozil tried to kill him,
- 37:48Speaker 1: he would be risking, Uh, he would be risking like
- 37:53Speaker 1: a terrible reprisal and like like seven times over. So
- 37:59Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna basically, if he does that, we're
- 38:01Speaker 1: gonna see a re enactment of the death of Lilith,
- 38:06Speaker 1: except way worse because Razil is way more powerful than Lolith. Yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 1: so Luke volunteers his lake cabin, his lakeside cabin. It's
- 38:19Speaker 1: it's in a remote area. There's a bit, there's a
- 38:21Speaker 1: large body of water, which is a big component that
- 38:23Speaker 1: they need to summon the angel. And you know it's remote,
- 38:28Speaker 1: so nobody's gonna be able to notice, you know, this big,
- 38:30Speaker 1: this giant ass angel being summoned to Earth. Because the
- 38:33Speaker 1: thing about angels is that the more powerful they are,
- 38:36Speaker 1: the bigger they appear. So if you summon them into
- 38:39Speaker 1: our reality, a minor angel like Ethereal would be like
- 38:42Speaker 1: more or less human sized. Right, and then you got Razeal,
- 38:46Speaker 1: who's like about sixty feet tall. Because if you if
- 38:50Speaker 1: you read the like if you go back to book three,
- 38:52Speaker 1: and Razial had been summoned. He was massive, like it
- 38:57Speaker 1: said that his Yeah, Like if I like, if you
- 39:01Speaker 1: remember when he's when he was summoned and he rows
- 39:04Speaker 1: out of the lake, it was huge. He was huge
- 39:08Speaker 1: because his wings when he spread his wings out, the
- 39:10Speaker 1: wingtips like spread to either side of them of the lake.
- 39:14Speaker 1: So he had a massive wingspan. So they take Simon
- 39:21Speaker 1: to the lake side and they begin the ritue. Magnus
- 39:25Speaker 1: begins and then once he had the summoning circle prepared,
- 39:28Speaker 1: the body of water was right there and everything else
- 39:30Speaker 1: was needed. He gives Simon his grimoire points to the
- 39:35Speaker 1: the incantation. Simon needs to complete and do his thing.
- 39:40Speaker 1: So as soon as he does that, he's like, it's
- 39:42Speaker 1: kind of like one of those situations like all right, kid,
- 39:44Speaker 1: you know, here's what you gotta do. So you may die,
- 39:46Speaker 1: but that's a risk. We're well in stake. Here you go.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You got, pats him on the back, pats him on
- 39:50Speaker 1: the shoulder, and runs off like they can't be near
- 39:54Speaker 1: the lake when he summons rezealed, so everybody had to
- 39:56Speaker 1: like go hide in uh Luke's cabin while the angels present. Yeah,
- 40:03Speaker 1: so Simon goes through with the ritual, and there's an explosion.
- 40:09Speaker 1: There's a violent explosion in the center of the lake,
- 40:12Speaker 1: as if something massive just dropped out of the sky
- 40:14Speaker 1: and landed in the lake. And oh, what do you know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: a massive ass angel appeared and of course we hit
- 40:23Speaker 1: here we have Razil. Razil is described as like, you know, unearthly,
- 40:28Speaker 1: like very like. He's a terrifying looking being, like he
- 40:32Speaker 1: looks human like. He looks like the traditional visualization of angels,
- 40:39Speaker 1: like a human, like a very human with like unearthly
- 40:42Speaker 1: beauty and you know wings though in Razil's case, his
- 40:47Speaker 1: wings are are composed of golden feathers and they have
- 40:50Speaker 1: living eyes at the tip of the of the feathers.
- 40:53Speaker 1: So like the eyes like they're like they're not just
- 40:55Speaker 1: eye patterns like you know, like where peacock would have
- 40:58Speaker 1: no like they look they look like and I and
- 41:01Speaker 1: they actually blink.
- 41:03Speaker 2: That's creepy.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, angels are terrifying, yes, the air they are. Uh.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Razil kind of appeared in the you know, the terminator
- 41:14Speaker 1: like time travel stance, you know, the whole liked Dunna done.
- 41:19Speaker 1: He rises up stands at his full height, towering over Simon.
- 41:24Speaker 1: He looks down at Simon and is like he's like, so,
- 41:29Speaker 1: who was dumb enough to so who was dumb enough
- 41:31Speaker 1: to summon me here? And Simon just like, you know,
- 41:36Speaker 1: smaller like me.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I'm sorry I did.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but that was me. And he's like, oh cool,
- 41:43Speaker 1: now I know who I need to kill. And and
- 41:46Speaker 1: Razil like points at Simon like he's about to like
- 41:48Speaker 1: blast amount of existence. But the thing is, Simon remembers, wait,
- 41:52Speaker 1: I gotta like he reaches up and he like moves
- 41:55Speaker 1: his hair out of his like off his forehead, revealing
- 41:57Speaker 1: the mark of Cain. And Razil just stopped you, like,
- 42:01Speaker 1: where'd you get that? Son? Where did you get that?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Where'd you get that? Where did where that come from?
- 42:09Speaker 1: What? Hold On like, I'm sorry you should not have that?
- 42:13Speaker 1: And Simon explains, what's going on? Was it nothing?
- 42:19Speaker 2: Continue?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Okay? So Simon explains to Razeal that the reason why
- 42:29Speaker 1: he summoned He tells him like, well, my friend Clary
- 42:33Speaker 1: put the mark of Knees protect me during the shadow
- 42:35Speaker 1: Hunter War and it's been with me ever since. Uh.
- 42:40Speaker 1: The reason why we and the reason why we summoned
- 42:42Speaker 1: you here is because well, our friend's in trouble. He's
- 42:46Speaker 1: he's possessed by a demon, and we need to figure
- 42:47Speaker 1: and we need something that can separate him from this demon,
- 42:50Speaker 1: and the only thing that can is a heavenly weapon.
- 42:53Speaker 1: And Razil is like, uh huh, and why should I
- 42:58Speaker 1: give you this? Like you I'm like just just arms crossed,
- 43:02Speaker 1: you know, like full on angel sass. I mean, I'm
- 43:05Speaker 1: portraying Grazial like as a very very sassy individual, but
- 43:09Speaker 1: he's not. He's more he's definitely like, you know, terrifying
- 43:12Speaker 1: archangel that's that will literally site you. But you know, still,
- 43:18Speaker 1: like this is the gist of it. It's like, okay,
- 43:20Speaker 1: and why should I help you? And Simon's like, well,
- 43:23Speaker 1: you're an angel, You're a mortal. I'm a vampire and
- 43:26Speaker 1: a day walker who's also immortal, so I can literally
- 43:29Speaker 1: hold you here for the rest of eternity.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Oh angels Like the Angel's like, okay, fine, I will
- 43:43Speaker 4: give you a bitch.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I will give you a weapon, a heavenly weapon, but
- 43:51Speaker 1: but it comes at a price beyond just letting me go.
- 43:56Speaker 1: And Simon's like, okay, what's the price. The price is
- 43:59Speaker 1: is that I take that mark from you? Who so yeah,
- 44:04Speaker 1: so think about the mark of Kane. Is that the
- 44:06Speaker 1: mark of Kane is a curse. It's not a blessing.
- 44:08Speaker 1: It's not like an involvement makes It does not make
- 44:10Speaker 1: you invulnerable. Okay, it is a curse because think of
- 44:15Speaker 1: it this way. You got if you've seen for those
- 44:17Speaker 1: of you, for fans who have seen fairy Tale, the
- 44:20Speaker 1: anime uh, the big bad evil guy Zarath was cursed
- 44:25Speaker 1: with a had a curse called the curse of contradiction
- 44:28Speaker 1: or the curse of Anstilam. This curse basically made it
- 44:31Speaker 1: to where everybody he loves and cares about will die
- 44:34Speaker 1: if he's nearby. So the more he cares about something,
- 44:37Speaker 1: the more the curse kills them, like it literally sucks
- 44:42Speaker 1: the life out of him, and it also renders him immortal.
- 44:47Speaker 1: So while Zarah can't die, people around him will die
- 44:50Speaker 1: if he shows just a little bit of love and
- 44:53Speaker 1: affection right like he truly cares, like as if he
- 44:56Speaker 1: truly cares about him about them. And then the mark
- 44:59Speaker 1: of is a lot different from that, but this, the
- 45:02Speaker 1: principle is still there, all right. The mark a king
- 45:06Speaker 1: will basically lash out against anybody that attempts to purtin
- 45:10Speaker 1: and it's and it's very indiscriminate. So it doesn't have
- 45:13Speaker 1: to be like, oh, like someone is attacking him with
- 45:18Speaker 1: ill intent, like with malicious intent. It could be like
- 45:21Speaker 1: you could just like lightly punch some playfully punch him
- 45:24Speaker 1: on the shoulder, and suddenly you get hit in the
- 45:27Speaker 1: same you feel like as if you got hit with
- 45:30Speaker 1: like like you just do a light tap on his
- 45:33Speaker 1: shoulder playfully, and suddenly you get punched full force on
- 45:37Speaker 1: your shoulder.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So the Mark of King basically the thing about the
- 45:42Speaker 1: Mark of Kine, it was designed to punish the first
- 45:46Speaker 1: murder Kane, right, yeah, and it and it turned Caine
- 45:52Speaker 1: into a wanderer. So he wandered the earth for the
- 45:55Speaker 1: rest of his life. He could never settle down in
- 45:57Speaker 1: one place. You could never like let himself like become
- 46:01Speaker 1: part of society because well the mark basically made it
- 46:05Speaker 1: to where he's unkillable and it punishes those around him,
- 46:09Speaker 1: but it also marked him as an outsider. So that's
- 46:12Speaker 1: the fate that would await Simon. So Simon was at
- 46:15Speaker 1: first of a life apprehensive, but then he thought about
- 46:17Speaker 1: it and it was like, eh, I can live without it.
- 46:21Speaker 1: So Razil is like cool, and Razil summons up a sword.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Now this sword is actually the sword that he summons
- 46:29Speaker 1: is actually a sword used by Michael the Archangel. He
- 46:33Speaker 1: said that in human language its name is unpronounceable, but
- 46:37Speaker 1: he said, you can call it glorious though. The funny
- 46:40Speaker 1: thing is about the sword Glorious is that when it
- 46:43Speaker 1: appears before Simon, it looks like a rusted, beat up sword,
- 46:51Speaker 1: the blatest chipped, the blatest chipped and rusted. It looks
- 46:55Speaker 1: ancient too, but it's still solid, and it's still solid
- 47:00Speaker 1: and sturdy. So and Razil warns him that this blade
- 47:07Speaker 1: contains the fire of heaven, heavenly fire, so once he
- 47:12Speaker 1: uses it, the fire will destroy the blade. The fire
- 47:15Speaker 1: will be released and it will destroy anything that is evil.
- 47:20Speaker 1: So basically, the thing about holy fire is that it
- 47:23Speaker 1: only burns evil. Anything that's evil, so like demons will
- 47:31Speaker 1: burn and just be completely wiped out from existence. But
- 47:35Speaker 1: if it hits a normal, normal person, the fire will
- 47:39Speaker 1: burn any like anything malignant out of them, but like
- 47:44Speaker 1: if they are more or less a good person, it
- 47:47Speaker 1: won't really affect them. So it's perfect. It's the perfect
- 47:51Speaker 1: thing because this the blade will want. The blade impregnated
- 47:54Speaker 1: with holy fire will only kill that which is evil,
- 47:59Speaker 1: so it'll definitely kill Sebastian, but it will not kill
- 48:03Speaker 1: but it will not kill Jase, and more than likely
- 48:06Speaker 1: it'll but it'll definitely it will definitely sever the link
- 48:10Speaker 1: between them. Cool, they got their weapon and now they
- 48:15Speaker 1: just got to wait for the chance to use it.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Going back to Clary and Sebastian and Jace, she continues
- 48:23Speaker 1: to spy and live and live with the two of them.
- 48:27Speaker 1: At one point, uh so, at one point during their travels,
- 48:32Speaker 1: Sebastian sent Jas out to do some dirty to do
- 48:35Speaker 1: some dirty work. Sebastian had gone to had gone to
- 48:40Speaker 1: Italy to acquire some raw atomus from a from a
- 48:47Speaker 1: particular kind of demon that likes to horde precious things.
- 48:51Speaker 1: And Clarry doesn't know what doesn't know what this raw
- 48:55Speaker 1: atamus is going to be used for. But still later
- 48:58Speaker 1: on though Sebastian sent Jas had sent just to kill
- 49:03Speaker 1: the demon because they don't want to leave, like they
- 49:06Speaker 1: don't want to leave a trail. But when Jace attempts
- 49:09Speaker 1: to kill the demon, the demon lashed out and damaged
- 49:13Speaker 1: the room that was on his chest that bound into Sebastian.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And the thing is because the room was damaged, it
- 49:21Speaker 1: broke his control. It broke Sebastian's control over Jase, and
- 49:25Speaker 1: temporarily he breaks free and he comes back, and while
- 49:30Speaker 1: Sebastian is sleeping in his room, Jace goes to Clary
- 49:34Speaker 1: and tells her what Sebastian is planning. Sebastian is going
- 49:38Speaker 1: to try to use Lilis Blood in a copy of
- 49:42Speaker 1: the Mortal Cup to create an army of evil shadow Hunters.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Oh dear, So just like Brazil gave the Mortal Cup
- 49:55Speaker 1: to Jonathan shadow Hunter a thousand years ago to create
- 49:57Speaker 1: an army of shadow Hunters, Sebastian is planning to do
- 50:02Speaker 1: the same thing, but instead of angel blood, they're gonna
- 50:07Speaker 1: use greater demon blood.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Oh dear, oh dear.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Indeed, Jay, the thing is since he's still since he's
- 50:17Speaker 1: still temporarily freed from Sebastian's control, he tells Claire he
- 50:23Speaker 1: plans to turn himself into the Clave, and he said,
- 50:27Speaker 1: like he's kept kind of an idiot because he's like,
- 50:31Speaker 1: they're definitely gonna kill me. But you know what if
- 50:33Speaker 1: this keeps If this keeps Sebastian from building an army
- 50:39Speaker 1: of evil of dark shadow Hunters, so be it. But
- 50:45Speaker 1: before he can leave, Claire kind of flips out and
- 50:48Speaker 1: he's like, oh, hell no, and she does something that
- 50:50Speaker 1: I'm like, ah, girl, his dick ain't that good, but
- 50:58Speaker 1: still damn like, girl, you could do better, but still
- 51:04Speaker 1: she doesn't. She decides to stop Jace from leaving to
- 51:10Speaker 1: basically let himself be killed by the Clave. So she
- 51:13Speaker 1: starts calling out to Sebastian shows and she basically snitches
- 51:20Speaker 1: on Jase. She snitches on him. She's like, she's like, Sabastian,
- 51:25Speaker 1: his room is David, He's free from your control. Sbastian
- 51:28Speaker 1: shows up, grabs Jace, traces a healing room on him,
- 51:32Speaker 1: and when his skin patches up, it fixes the room
- 51:36Speaker 1: and puts him back under und Sebastian's control. And Ja's like,
- 51:40Speaker 1: had this moment of word. She like, there was this
- 51:43Speaker 1: moment of just pure shock. It's just like, ain't that
- 51:47Speaker 1: had a bitch? Like He's not Later on, he like
- 51:52Speaker 1: he's not actually mad about He's not mad at Clary,
- 51:55Speaker 1: but it's just one of those moments where it's just like.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You bitch, Like, ah, you bitch, you bitch.
- 52:05Speaker 1: You now that the thing is because Clary did that,
- 52:10Speaker 1: she somehow managed to earn enough of Sebastian's trust for
- 52:14Speaker 1: him to tell her more of his plan, and he
- 52:16Speaker 1: tells her that they're going to be going to a
- 52:18Speaker 1: gathering place called the Seventh Gap, the Seventh Sacred Site,
- 52:23Speaker 1: and they're planning on meeting a number of shadow hunters
- 52:27Speaker 1: that were that were sympathetic, that were once sympathetic to Valentine,
- 52:31Speaker 1: and they're hoping and this is this is basically going
- 52:34Speaker 1: to be the test trun like where they're going to
- 52:36Speaker 1: where they're gonna start for their army of Dark shadow Hunters.
- 52:40Speaker 1: And the thing is is that at some point Sebastian
- 52:45Speaker 1: had taken the fay Ring from the from from Clary,
- 52:51Speaker 1: and Clary had snuck manages to sneak back into his
- 52:55Speaker 1: room to get it, and she tells Simon, and she
- 52:58Speaker 1: quickly communicates with Simon and that you need to get
- 53:01Speaker 1: to you need to get the shadow hunters to the
- 53:03Speaker 1: place called the Seventh Sacred Site because apparently it is
- 53:06Speaker 1: also a it's known to shadow hunters, so they'll know
- 53:10Speaker 1: where it is and they'll come. But before she can
- 53:13Speaker 1: fully like, uh, tell Simon like everything that Sebastian is planning,
- 53:18Speaker 1: Sebastian catches her and she's forced to smash the ring
- 53:27Speaker 1: of the ring. The thing is is that the Sealy Queen,
- 53:33Speaker 1: she's actually rooting for Sebastian, and she deliberately played Clary
- 53:43Speaker 1: and Simon, and she had guessed that Clary would keep
- 53:46Speaker 1: the fairy rings, so she was actually The thing about
- 53:50Speaker 1: the Sealy Queen is that she can listen in onto
- 53:52Speaker 1: their conversations through the rings, so she knew everything that
- 53:57Speaker 1: they that Clary was telling Simon, and she would tell
- 54:00Speaker 1: Sebastian when she was what he what they were doing.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Of course, so.
- 54:08Speaker 1: She was the one that told sebastitionin that the two
- 54:12Speaker 1: have a telebathic connection. The thing is, Sebastian, this is
- 54:16Speaker 1: where like you know, she got she gained to Strauss
- 54:19Speaker 1: and then immediately fucked it up and they end up
- 54:21Speaker 1: getting into a small fight. And I'm gonna skip over
- 54:25Speaker 1: this little detailed, but this is where like sebbat like, oh,
- 54:29Speaker 1: Sebastian's has scumback because he attempts to yeah mm hmm mmm.
- 54:37Speaker 1: But the thing is is that, yeah, they fight. He
- 54:42Speaker 1: subdues her and he forced her to uh. He basically
- 54:48Speaker 1: confines her and forces her to get all dressed up
- 54:51Speaker 1: for the ritual that's about to happen, and he takes her.
- 54:55Speaker 1: He seeks her and Jason to the seventh Sacred Site,
- 54:59Speaker 1: and it's there that Sebastian reveals his version of the
- 55:03Speaker 1: Mortal Cup, which is what he had used. This is
- 55:07Speaker 1: what he had used the atom is for, because after
- 55:11Speaker 1: they retrieved the raw atomis from the demon, they had
- 55:19Speaker 1: found a rogues, a rogue iron sister who had agreed
- 55:24Speaker 1: to shape the atomis into a into another mortal cup.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Ok.
- 55:34Speaker 1: So Sebastian begins a ritual. And the thing is is
- 55:39Speaker 1: that because I think that this is that greater demons,
- 55:42Speaker 1: they're not like the lesser demons. So lesser greater demons
- 55:48Speaker 1: they technically exist in the void between realities. So while
- 55:54Speaker 1: they're the lesser demons tend to manifest themselves on physical
- 55:58Speaker 1: planes and then project the and then project their essence
- 56:02Speaker 1: into other planes to invade it. If you kill all
- 56:05Speaker 1: the demon like the demons that appear in our plane
- 56:07Speaker 1: of existence, their essence just basically scatters and goes back
- 56:11Speaker 1: to the plane of existence they came from. So most
- 56:13Speaker 1: of the demons that come to Earth came from another
- 56:15Speaker 1: reality called Eden. And it's like Gehenna or it's like
- 56:21Speaker 1: Gehenna or Hell or version of it. But there's like
- 56:24Speaker 1: plenty of realities that demons control, and so you're not
- 56:30Speaker 1: technically killing them, you're just sending them back to their reality.
- 56:33Speaker 1: But greater Hymens are truly immortal. They cannot be killed.
- 56:38Speaker 1: The only thing you can do is scatter their essence
- 56:40Speaker 1: so to a point where it's so thin that it's
- 56:43Speaker 1: gonna take an exorbitant long time for them to to
- 56:49Speaker 1: to reform themselves. And well, since Lilith was literally smote
- 56:53Speaker 1: with heavenly fire because of the mark, because of the
- 56:57Speaker 1: Mark of Kin, her essence was so thoroughly scattered that
- 57:00Speaker 1: it's going to take a long time before she reforms herself.
- 57:03Speaker 1: So what Sebastian does is he performs a ritual that
- 57:07Speaker 1: causes like a portion of her essence to rec to
- 57:13Speaker 1: re form itself into her, but it's not all of
- 57:17Speaker 1: hers when she when Lilith appears, she's she appears as
- 57:21Speaker 1: this nude figure, but she's like she kind of looks
- 57:24Speaker 1: like cracked, like cracked earth, like dried up just cracks
- 57:28Speaker 1: running through her body, and it almost looks like there's
- 57:30Speaker 1: like lava running underneath her running between the cracks, so
- 57:35Speaker 1: she's not like she it's clear that she's not fully
- 57:38Speaker 1: put back together, but it was enough. The ritual was
- 57:41Speaker 1: enough to pull enough of her together for the purpose
- 57:43Speaker 1: that he does that he wanted, and Lilith, you know,
- 57:48Speaker 1: fully complacent with his plan, immediately cuts her wrists and
- 57:53Speaker 1: pours her black blood into the cup. So as her
- 57:56Speaker 1: blood makes contact with the cup, the cup changes. So
- 58:00Speaker 1: before it looked like regular pure atomis, but then it
- 58:03Speaker 1: turns onto like this darker gray, like more corrupted version
- 58:08Speaker 1: of a mortal cup. The thing about this kind of
- 58:11Speaker 1: these kind of cups is that they will never run
- 58:17Speaker 1: out of the blood. So even now, the mortal cup
- 58:20Speaker 1: still has the blood of Reseal in it, and it's
- 58:23Speaker 1: the same with this mortal It's going to be the
- 58:25Speaker 1: same with this dark moratl cup no matter how many
- 58:28Speaker 1: people drink from it, It's never gonna run out of
- 58:30Speaker 1: her blood. So it's at this point after they got
- 58:36Speaker 1: the blood, after Sebastian gets the blood from Lilith into
- 58:39Speaker 1: the cup, he reveals that he had his shadow his
- 58:45Speaker 1: shadow Hunter minions capture an old friend of Clari's, and
- 58:50Speaker 1: that is Luke's sister Adamus, I'm sorry at Amzis, and
- 58:57Speaker 1: they force her to drink from the cup to demonstrate
- 59:00Speaker 1: what it's going to do. Immediately, she begins to like convulse,
- 59:07Speaker 1: and the rooms that the permanent rooms that that are
- 59:13Speaker 1: pretty standard or a shadow hunters, they begin to vanish
- 59:17Speaker 1: from her body. And once she's when she relaxes and
- 59:22Speaker 1: stops convulsing, she stands up and it's clear when you
- 59:26Speaker 1: look into her eyes, her eyes are like flat, like
- 59:31Speaker 1: you know, like like like psychopaths and serial killers have
- 59:34Speaker 1: like this flat steady, like almost predatory look. Yeah, it's
- 59:39Speaker 1: like that. It's like that. And now a Mattis has
- 59:46Speaker 1: been fully transformed into a dark shadow hunter and she's
- 59:50Speaker 1: and she's at the she's completely loyal to Sebastian. Now,
- 59:54Speaker 1: Sebastian orders her to kill a couple of dissenters, like
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: people who weren't some of them more sympathetic shadow hunters
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: that appeared, the shadow hunters who were more sympathetic to Balancine.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Some of them were all like, yeah, we were sympathetic
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: to your dad, not you, like fuck you, we don't
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: need We're not gonna serve you. Well, Sebastian is just
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: like Okay turns to a mattis killing and she immediately
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: brutally kills him, and she shows like demonstrates that as
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: dark dark shadow Hunters, they're not as fast or as
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: strong as Sebastian is, but they're definitely a lot more
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: There are definitely a lot more ferocious than normal shadow hunters.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: So immediately after seeing this demonstration, the remaining sympathizers began
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: to line up and they all begin drinking from them
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: from the Dark Cup, and they all begin to transform
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: into Dark shadow Hunters. By the time the last one
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: finishes transfer forming, that's when Simon and the and the
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Clave arrive, so they immediately they immediately launched their attack
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: against the Dark shadow Hunters and engage in a fight.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: The thing is is that because the Dark shadow Hunters
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: were caught off guard, uh, they were pretty easily beaten back,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: though they did do their fair their fair share of
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: damage to the shadow Hunters. The problem is is that
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the one thing that the Dark shadow Hunters weren't counting
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: on was the fact that their own rooms and Sarah
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: weapons and Stella's stopped working for them, so they no
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: longer have once they became Dark shadow Hunters. The angelic
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: runs that they the permanent angelic rooms that's that decorated
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: their bodies immediately vanished, and they can they can no
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: longer use seraph blades like. They can still hold the
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: seraph blades and swing them, but they can't summon the
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: essence of an angel to help them, and they can't
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: pull out their they can't activate the stele as to
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: draw runs on their body anymore. So they were kind.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: They were not only caught off guard, but they were
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: also unfamiliar with how their new powers work. So for
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: the most part, they were easily beaten back, and many
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: of them do escape, and Sebastian himself does escape too,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: but not before Simon he arrives and he gives Clary
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: the uh the Heavenly Blade Glorious. She immediately runs to
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: try to try She immediately runs to try to like
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: get to Sebastian before he could disappear, But before she
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: can get to him, Jace steps in front of her
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: and tries to stop her, and and Clarie, having been
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: informed of what the blade will do, knows that it's
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: not going to hurt him, so she immediately stabs Jace.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: The thing is though she didn't get a chance to
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: learn that the blade only has a one use is
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: only a one use, want and done kind of thing.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: So as soon as she stabs him, he immediately bursts
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: into flame and the blade and the blade completely falls
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: apart oh no and vanishes. Uh huh It's okay, though
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: he survives. Okay, the stab won't actually wasn't fatal, and
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: the and the flames don't act don't hurt him. And
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: the thing is is that as soon as he burst
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: into flames and the heavenly fire begins to burn through
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: his body, Clary notices like immediately hears Sebastian's enraged and
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: painful uh screens because the thing is is that Sebastian
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: can feel the fun the flames burning the link that
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: allowed him to possess uh Jase and Jace. The flames
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: dis eventually disappear, and Jace collapses unconscious. Uh. Sebastian, having
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: been thoroughly whooped by this uh by this ambush, retreats
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: with his dark shadow Hunters. Later on, back at the institute, UH,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Clary finds Jason and the infirmary, and she's happy he's
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: a lie, but learns that he's actually that While the
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: flames did burn away the dark room, there's not actually gone.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: His body has become like a vessel for them. So
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: the holy so, the heavenly flames are still in his body.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Oh, he's a vampire with holy flames. That's interesting.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: No, Jason is a shadow hunter.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Hey, sorry, I was thinking of I'll take someone else, Simon.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: No, so Jace. So he's back to normal. He's been
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: completely free of Sebastian's control. And when they got when
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: they welcome back to the Institute, the clave immediately sent
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: an iron sister and his silent brother to perform the
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: ritual on him that would pretend future possessions. So now
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: he's completely back to normal, but they have to be
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: very careful because for some reason, the holy fire that's
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: in him is reactive to his state of mind. So
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: every time his adrenaline rises, the fire will begin to
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: burn anything he touches. Our personally, it doesn't burn Clary,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: but still it's going to come up. It's going to
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: cause some problems in the future, of course. And this
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: is pretty much where pretty much, this is where they
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: this is where the story ends. There were a couple
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: of other like side. There was a couple of other
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: side plots that did happen in this book, mainly concerning
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: like in his relationship with Magnus. The thing is is
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: that Alec has been feeling very self conscious about his
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: life with his relationship with Magnus, because the thing is
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: is that Magnus, as a warlock, he's immortal. He will
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: never age or bund it, whereas I like being just
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: a normal shadow hunter, He's going to live as long
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: as he's human. Well, yeah, as a shadow hunter whose
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: life is not may lifespan of shadow hunters is never
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: really that long because since they're constantly putting themselves in
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: danger to fight demon kind, mortality rates are very high.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: So you know, while some shadow hunters may live to
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: like a good old middle age, oftentimes they go down
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: fighting even if they live to that good old age.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: So it's rare for a shadow hunter to go to
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: like to age too elderly. We'll say it like that,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: elderly shadow hunters are rare.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: But the thing is that Alec was approached by Magnus's
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: ex girlfriend, Camille the Vampire, And the thing is is
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: that Camille was starting to get tried getting into Alex's
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: head and even told him that there's a ritual that
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: she could perform for him that will strip Magnus of
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: his immortality, allowing him to allow in the two of
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: them to live the rest of their lives together. And
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: the thing is is that even though like he did
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: find that the offer tempting, he realized he could never
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: do that to Alec. I'm sorry to Magnus, so he
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: decides to reject her offer. But the thing is is
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: that Magnus found out and he was pretty upset about it.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: He found out about the about commit what Camille was offering,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: and he was more upset with Alec that Alec would
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: even connsider it. So, in his anger, Magnus breaks up
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: with Alec and leaves him and Alec, you know, he's
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: very distraught and angery. He goes and he goes and
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: try and hunts down Camille to kill her out of
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you know, anger. But when he finds her, he finds
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: that she's already dead. So she's dead, and the person
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: that killed her was actually a younger vampire named Maureen Marine.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: You may remember, she's actually the young vampire that Simon
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: had indirectly created, so he was she wasn't born of
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Simon's blood, but things Simon had fed off with her
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: in a moment of like laughs, of his control and
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: well as a way to get back at him, of
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: getting back at him. I think it was was it rough.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember if it was Raphael or Camille
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: who turned her into a vampire, but they were trying
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: to fuck with him, so they turned her into a vampire,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: and she was She became obsessive, and she became more
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: psychopathic because in her human life, Maureen was she was
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: kind of obsessed with Simon because she was his because
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Simon isn't a band, and she became his number one fan.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: So the thing is that since he repected her and
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: now vampire and bitter about it, Like she likes her
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: life as a vampire, but she's still kind of bitter
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: at Simon for like putting her in this position. So
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: she wanted to be in charge now so she could
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: ended up killing Camille and taking her place as the
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: head vampire of New York. Yeah, because the the thing
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: is is, like you must be wondering, wait, wait, I
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: thought Rafael was the head vampire, not legally, so he
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: technically performed at an out an ousted Camille, but she's
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: still technically the legal leader of the vampire of the
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: vampire community. Yeah, so now she's technically so. Now Marie's
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: technically in charge. Uh So that's going to bite us
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: in the ass in the future. That may or may
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: not bite us in the ass in the future. But
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: the book, the story is the story for this. Uh.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: The book is going to come I can't talk today.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: The story is going to come to an end at
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: the institute. M hmm with Maris Alec Lightwood's mother, she's
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: now the she's now the head of the institute, and
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the Silent Brothers. Ah, the Silent Brothers had approached her
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: and they present her with a with something they had found,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: and they were a pair of angels. Wings of angel wings,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: like brutally severed from an angel. Uh.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: And the thing is is that these angel wings well,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Let me let's back up future
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: den at that last part out Maris as the head
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: of the institute, She's in charge of Uh. Maris Alec
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Lightwood's mother, as the head of the institute, she's in
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: charge of everything of the comings and goings. And she
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: had discovered something in the Institute's library, and she immediately
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: called for the Silent Brothers, and when they arrived, she
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: shows them. She chose the Silent Brothers a pair of
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: angel wings that had mysteriously appeared on the floor of
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: her library, and the wings had a note left with them,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: and the only thing that the note says is it's
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: from It's from Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern. And the only thing,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the only other thing that the note says is a
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: phrase in Latin which translates to I am coming. Uh
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: oh no, And that is where the story ends.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Oh oh, we're in danger, We're in.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Panic. Yes, yeah, So that is going to be it
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: for this book. That was The City of Lost Souls.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: We will be we will be concluding the series UH
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: in our next session with the final book in the series.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: In my uh, this book was this next book is
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: going to be my It's like second on my list
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: of favorites in the series. First was The City of
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: Glass book three, and this is book six, City of
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Heavenly Fire. So this is gonna be the conclusion of
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: the Moral Instruments. We're going to finally see Sebastian uh
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: being taken down. But let me tell you something, it's
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: gonna get a lot worse before it's actually it gets better.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: So we're gonna be seeing a lot of death. We're
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: gonna be seeing a lot of like, yeah, it's gonna
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: get and and you know's going to be endangered once again.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: And the Dark shadow Hunters are going to now be
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: better equipped with their new demonic arms and abilities. Just
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: like how Lilith had used a dark room, a dark
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: demon room to possess and linked Jace to Sebastian, They're
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: going to now have possession of their own system of
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: rooms of Sarah flet ruins, except now they're more too.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: But these ones are going to be attuned to demons Yep.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: In the coming book and the coming books, he's gonna
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: systematically destroy shadow Hunter holdouts. Institutes all over the world
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: are going to be invaded, and there's gonna be a
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: lot of shadow Hunters are gonna be killed. And the
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: only way to stop them all to find is to
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: finally kill Sebastian. And the best way to do that
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: is to use the fire that is still that is
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: still burning within Jason's flames. So until then, bye, goodbye,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: my bye to Lou
