- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sext DJ Bucky
- 0:09Speaker 1: rat back with you as we are looking back at
- 0:12Speaker 1: a double dip on Monday night, Buck, before we jump
- 0:16Speaker 1: into these games. Thumbs up, thumbs down doubleheaders on Monday Night.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I like the doubleheaders. I wish they were spaced out
- 0:22Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 0:22Speaker 3: It was too tight, too tight to each other, Like,
- 0:24Speaker 3: give me a little space so I can see one
- 0:26Speaker 3: in a CD other.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Oh come on, guys, I mean we need it. We
- 0:29Speaker 4: need to the ability to go back and forth. One
- 0:32Speaker 4: game's not giving it to you. Let's go get it
- 0:33Speaker 4: from the other. You know, if you're not into if
- 0:36Speaker 4: you're not into some tough quarterback play in the Cleveland,
- 0:39Speaker 4: you know, Pittsburgh game, go watch Taysom Hill essentially win
- 0:43Speaker 4: this game for the New Orleans Saints. So it was
- 0:45Speaker 4: a lot of fun to kind of go back and
- 0:46Speaker 4: forth in these two.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Unfortunately, the Padres have spared me trying. I don't have
- 0:50Speaker 1: to flip over to the baseball game, Buck, So I
- 0:52Speaker 1: just I got two football games. I don't have to
- 0:53Speaker 1: worry about the baseball games. That's what my team did
- 0:56Speaker 1: to me this year unfortunately, so I don't even give
- 0:59Speaker 1: me stick. All right, let's go. First of all, there's
- 1:02Speaker 1: a couple of these points I want to make here,
- 1:04Speaker 1: but I want to start first of all with this
- 1:06Speaker 1: Cleveland Pittsburgh game. This is a big win for the
- 1:08Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers, coming off of a week where we talked
- 1:10Speaker 1: about it. They just got hammered by the forty nine Ers.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And while there's still plenty of things to fix offensively, Buck,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I'll shoot it over to you, and I know the
- 1:20Speaker 1: big headline from this game is going to be Nick Chubb.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We'll get to that in a minute, but I want
- 1:23Speaker 1: to give my dude to the Steelers. First of all,
- 1:25Speaker 1: this defense, you know, putting up a couple of touchdowns,
- 1:28Speaker 1: this looks like it has the chance with the depth
- 1:31Speaker 1: and the talent up front, especially to be kind of
- 1:34Speaker 1: one of those old school, legit Steeler defenses. It put
- 1:37Speaker 1: last week behind them and had a really nice showing.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a team that we thought we were
- 1:41Speaker 3: going to see based on how they performed during the preseason.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Dominant performance. Really get up to the quarterback.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I think six acts scored a temple defensive touchdowns really
- 1:51Speaker 3: set the tone for this team to get a big
- 1:54Speaker 3: win at home against the division rival. And as this
- 1:57Speaker 3: defense continues to play at this level, you may have
- 2:00Speaker 3: to make some modifications to your offense in terms of, hey,
- 2:03Speaker 3: let's just play to the defense. We don't need to
- 2:06Speaker 3: be risky, we don't need to throw it, we can
- 2:08Speaker 3: run it, we can do some things that are a
- 2:09Speaker 3: little more conservative in nature. Because this defense is going
- 2:12Speaker 3: to keep the score down. This defense is gonna set
- 2:14Speaker 3: us up for scoring opportunities. This could change the way
- 2:18Speaker 3: that they go about their complimentary football.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Plant And guys, by the way, in the first of
- 2:22Speaker 4: what's going to be you heard it here in the
- 2:24Speaker 4: first instance of a phrase that you're going to hear
- 2:27Speaker 4: a couple of times today, and you heard it here
- 2:29Speaker 4: first that move the sticks or with you guys in
- 2:31Speaker 4: generally remember twenty nineteen, Remember our Conference USA schedule on
- 2:35Speaker 4: NFL network. You remember the scout side that we did
- 2:38Speaker 4: when we had a Charlotte game on alex Y.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Smith coming off the edge.
- 2:42Speaker 1: That's right, let's go.
- 2:44Speaker 5: You heard it here first on moving the sticks.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I mean, he was like a third round pick, but
- 2:49Speaker 4: has obviously has obviously you know proved his worth far
- 2:53Speaker 4: beyond his draft position. They compensated him like one of
- 2:56Speaker 4: the best head rushers in football. He's playing like one
- 2:59Speaker 4: of the best head rushers in football. Obviously helps to
- 3:01Speaker 4: have a defense a perennial defensive player that year candidate
- 3:04Speaker 4: in TJ.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Watt.
- 3:05Speaker 4: But those two guys right there, I mean, name is
- 3:07Speaker 4: a better edge rushing duo right now because they are
- 3:10Speaker 4: absolutely winning the day for that Steelers defense.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yeah, they've got some good other young players they're rolling
- 3:15Speaker 1: through in that front as well, so it's got a
- 3:17Speaker 1: chance to be a really, really solid unit.
- 3:18Speaker 4: T J.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Watt's got four sacks now for the first two weeks.
- 3:21Speaker 1: He's having a monster season. Now offensively, you know, Kenny
- 3:24Speaker 1: Pickett miss some throws, was not clean, was not smooth.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But when you've got George Pickens, he gives you the
- 3:29Speaker 1: big long one. Pickens ends up with four for a
- 3:32Speaker 1: buck twenty seven, including that seventy one yard touchdown, so
- 3:34Speaker 1: you get the big strike ability. They're not running the
- 3:37Speaker 1: ball at all, and that's two good defenses they've gone
- 3:40Speaker 1: up against in San Francisco and a Jim Schwartz led
- 3:42Speaker 1: Cleveland Browns front. So they've got to find a way
- 3:45Speaker 1: to get a little more of that ground game going.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And I don't think the bar is very high in
- 3:48Speaker 1: terms of, you know, what they need to do to
- 3:50Speaker 1: win football games, because the defense is going to be really,
- 3:53Speaker 1: really good. You know that's going to be their formula.
- 3:55Speaker 1: But let's switch over to the other side of the ball.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Buck offensively. Man, it just feel you feel sick to
- 4:02Speaker 1: your stomach when you see the injury that Nick Chubb suffered.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Just thrashed, thrashed that knee, and that's going to be
- 4:08Speaker 1: it for him for the season. He's one of the
- 4:10Speaker 1: not only the great stars in the league and one
- 4:12Speaker 1: of the best players his position. It's one of those
- 4:14Speaker 1: rare instances where the running back is literally the leader
- 4:17Speaker 1: of your team. And that's how he was in college
- 4:19Speaker 1: at Georgia. That's who he's been for the Cleveland Browns.
- 4:22Speaker 1: They replace some of the production. I mean, look Ford,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Jerome Ford goes for over one hundred yards rushing. To me,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's going to be more of the leadership side of it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That's going to be even bigger than missing him the player.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so much of their identity is wrapped the
- 4:35Speaker 3: Nick Chubb being kind of a bruiser between the tackles.
- 4:38Speaker 3: The ability to run the football says to the table
- 4:41Speaker 3: for Deshaun Watson in the plassing game, to get off
- 4:43Speaker 3: on play action passes, and for a long time when
- 4:45Speaker 3: they lost that, it was not only just the physical
- 4:48Speaker 3: loss of not having you know, one of the top
- 4:51Speaker 3: rushers in the league, but the emotional loss of the
- 4:54Speaker 3: guy who really carries us, who does so much for offense,
- 4:57Speaker 3: which says of our defense.
- 4:59Speaker 2: This is a tough one.
- 5:00Speaker 3: It's a really a tough one for the Cleveland Browns
- 5:02Speaker 3: because this is a team and you can see early
- 5:04Speaker 3: they look like they could be the class of the
- 5:06Speaker 3: division when they have all the pieces in place. You
- 5:09Speaker 3: remove Chubb, now the division to me is really up
- 5:12Speaker 3: for grabs. And I don't know how they've replaced that
- 5:14Speaker 3: kind of production. I really don't know how to replace
- 5:17Speaker 3: that kind of leadership because he's a huge loss.
- 5:20Speaker 2: In the locker room.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Yeah, and look, I think there's some concern obviously, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 4: for Nick Chubb and the injury and certainly hope that
- 5:27Speaker 4: he can get you know, the recovery that he needs.
- 5:29Speaker 4: But with this Cleveland Browns offense, you've got a quarterback
- 5:32Speaker 4: and Deshaun Watson with top five ability, but what that's
- 5:35Speaker 4: probably playing somewhere in the neighborhood of a fifteen to twenty.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Five you know, ranked quarterback at this point.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And so when you were worse, right, so when you
- 5:44Speaker 4: don't have the high level quarterback play and now you
- 5:48Speaker 4: mose the ability to hand it off with confidence, you
- 5:52Speaker 4: know in the run game. Now look at Jerome Ford,
- 5:54Speaker 4: you know, maybe ends up you know, being fine, they
- 5:56Speaker 4: signed somebody and they could still pound the rock a bit,
- 5:59Speaker 4: but not the way that they could with Chubb, not
- 6:00Speaker 4: the way they could rely on it with Chubb to
- 6:02Speaker 4: help buy some time to figure out what's going on
- 6:06Speaker 4: with Watson at getting back playing at a very high level.
- 6:08Speaker 4: So I think that part of it is concerning good
- 6:10Speaker 4: news is their defense is really good.
- 6:12Speaker 1: The defense is good. It wasn't on them obviously twenty
- 6:16Speaker 1: six points when the Steelers fourteen come from the other
- 6:19Speaker 1: side of the ball. So Cleveland defensive, he's going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: keep them in every game. They've got to get Watson
- 6:23Speaker 1: playing better ball. Let's get to the next one here, Carolina,
- 6:25Speaker 1: New Orleans. This is a game the Saints here they
- 6:28Speaker 1: are two and oh the Derek carr eras off to
- 6:30Speaker 1: a pretty good start here. Let's start on the winning
- 6:32Speaker 1: side of things. Rhtt what do you see from your
- 6:34Speaker 1: hometown Saints there?
- 6:36Speaker 4: Well, so I think, you know, outside of four explosive
- 6:39Speaker 4: plays in the past game, this was really all about
- 6:42Speaker 4: Taysom Hill. I'll get to Taysom Hill here in a second,
- 6:44Speaker 4: but the explosives were really, you know, they were big.
- 6:47Speaker 4: A couple of I mean two of the highest degree
- 6:50Speaker 4: of difficulty catches made in the NFL this week. Michael
- 6:55Speaker 4: Thomas down inside the red zone, goes up and gets
- 6:57Speaker 4: one initially ruled incomplete, and a Crystal comes up with
- 7:01Speaker 4: a huge one they essentially tips to himself, makes a
- 7:04Speaker 4: diving grab. Those were big time plays in the past game.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And then maybe the biggest was the Rashi sha heat
- 7:09Speaker 4: just straight speed down the right sideline, car finds and
- 7:12Speaker 4: that sets up the touchdown that eventually gave them the
- 7:14Speaker 4: winning margin. So I thought those explosives were big from
- 7:16Speaker 4: the Saints in.
- 7:17Speaker 5: The past game.
- 7:18Speaker 4: On a day were offense like wasn't really that potent
- 7:22Speaker 4: on either side, But for the Saints, they had the
- 7:24Speaker 4: ability to turn to Taysom Hill seven QB design runs.
- 7:27Speaker 4: He goes nine yards, seven yards, nine eleven, five thirteen
- 7:31Speaker 4: had won for negative yard and so almost every one
- 7:34Speaker 4: of those QB design runs were big time chunk plays.
- 7:37Speaker 4: In the run game, he had a lead blocker for
- 7:39Speaker 4: a bunch of them, which I thought was a cool
- 7:41Speaker 4: little design wrinkle. They brought in an extra offensive lineman
- 7:44Speaker 4: at times. Tasum Mill was a big piece of that win.
- 7:47Speaker 4: I felt like for the Saints.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of one of those deals where you're like, oh, hell,
- 7:51Speaker 1: he's still playing. I forgot about tast I Its like
- 7:54Speaker 1: in the back of your mind and you see them
- 7:55Speaker 1: in a primetime game, like, oh, he's still out there. Look,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I want to flip it over to the other side. Buck.
- 8:00Speaker 1: This is something I feel like we've been consistent with
- 8:02Speaker 1: this message talking about Bryce Young one hundred and fifty
- 8:05Speaker 1: three yards. I watched the tape and you go through
- 8:08Speaker 1: and you get to the top of the drop and
- 8:10Speaker 1: you freeze it, and you're like, man, there's not a
- 8:12Speaker 1: lot of wins out here. There's not a lot of
- 8:13Speaker 1: great options. He's getting hit. The thing he's done well
- 8:16Speaker 1: is he's buying time, he's extending place, trying to give
- 8:19Speaker 1: his guys an opportunity to uncover, and yet still he's
- 8:22Speaker 1: having a tough time finding people. So I didn't come
- 8:25Speaker 1: away from this game watching it, and the box board
- 8:27Speaker 1: doesn't look pretty. You know, one hundred and fifty three yards.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He took four sacks, you know, didn't throw a pick,
- 8:32Speaker 1: but obviously the hits add up and it ends up
- 8:35Speaker 1: resulting in a fumble that he lost. But I don't
- 8:38Speaker 1: know how this gets better in the short term, you know.
- 8:41Speaker 1: To me, I guess the only thing is you're going
- 8:43Speaker 1: to have to just say, we got to commit to
- 8:45Speaker 1: the run where we got to put extra tight ends.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Let's pay the sixth offensive lineman. They're gonna have to
- 8:49Speaker 1: do something creative in the run game, buck, because if
- 8:51Speaker 1: you don't have the guys, you don't have the guys.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And this he's buying all kinds of time and there's
- 8:55Speaker 1: still nothing. I don't know what the answer is there.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, they need to upgrade the office person around him.
- 9:01Speaker 3: We can talk about him being in them one over
- 9:03Speaker 3: a pick, but they just don't have enough firepower to
- 9:06Speaker 3: make you change the way that you play defense. These
- 9:08Speaker 3: getting the day one looked and there's no way that
- 9:11Speaker 3: you There isn't a way for him to dictate the terms.
- 9:14Speaker 3: He can't for someone double team or wide receiver. He
- 9:16Speaker 3: doesn't have that guy. You can't force someone to drop
- 9:18Speaker 3: another defending the box because he doesn't have a high
- 9:21Speaker 3: end player at those positions. This is one where he's
- 9:23Speaker 3: going to have to jump into it right away, put
- 9:26Speaker 3: his mark on the game as a as a passer,
- 9:29Speaker 3: but also as a scrambling artist that creates big plays
- 9:32Speaker 3: on the move. He's going to have to empty the
- 9:34Speaker 3: tool bit to allow this offense to play at a
- 9:37Speaker 3: high level.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, one of the things that I want to transition
- 9:40Speaker 1: this here because one of the things I was thinking
- 9:41Speaker 1: of watching that was, Man, okay, first overall pick, it's
- 9:44Speaker 1: gonna be tough. You're gonna go to teams that don't
- 9:46Speaker 1: really have a lot around you. But I want to
- 9:48Speaker 1: look at this list of first overall picks and how
- 9:51Speaker 1: they're doing so far this year. We see, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 1: the record that they have their prices is zero and two.
- 9:55Speaker 1: They're at the top. Baker Mayfield's only one who's undefeated
- 9:58Speaker 1: at two and zero. When you look at this collection,
- 10:00Speaker 1: as you look at the offense at Trevor Lawrence went
- 10:02Speaker 1: into obviously a tough rookie year with him. The Urban
- 10:04Speaker 1: Meyers thing did not go well. Joe Burrow had a
- 10:07Speaker 1: lot of pieces around him, Baker Mayfield had that run
- 10:09Speaker 1: game and offensive line around him in Cleveland. Jared Goff
- 10:13Speaker 1: did not have anything around him early on until Sean
- 10:15Speaker 1: McVay came and then Matthew Stafford as we all know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you know, kind of inherit a winless football team and
- 10:21Speaker 1: had to build that thing up. So you find yourself
- 10:24Speaker 1: in different situations. So to kind of finish up the
- 10:26Speaker 1: thought on Bryce, Look, you just got to be patient.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You can't have any verdict on him this year. You're
- 10:31Speaker 1: gonna need to be patient with him as you see
- 10:33Speaker 1: some of those other guys in the list. Let's wait
- 10:35Speaker 1: till you get more pieces, Buck go ahead.
- 10:37Speaker 3: No, So my thing is, look, he's going to be fine.
- 10:40Speaker 3: They will be fine, and I expect him to eventually
- 10:43Speaker 3: play at a.
- 10:43Speaker 2: High level with DJ.
- 10:44Speaker 3: It's not only the weapons around I kind of worry
- 10:46Speaker 3: a little bit about Frank right and the amount of
- 10:48Speaker 3: hits that Bryce Young is taking. Can we come up
- 10:51Speaker 3: with a protection plan that keeps him upright in available?
- 10:55Speaker 3: So I'm just worry about that. I worry about that
- 10:57Speaker 3: for the fans is because what I saw is he's
- 10:59Speaker 3: fly down enough to play at a high level. But man,
- 11:02Speaker 3: they got to keep him from getting rocked and socked
- 11:04Speaker 3: when he's in the pocket.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Look, I think one of the positives of this
- 11:08Speaker 4: second game for Bryce Young was that last drive. Right,
- 11:11Speaker 4: they need they're down what was at eleven, They need
- 11:14Speaker 4: to go down there, get a couple of scores, and man,
- 11:18Speaker 4: you know, the Saints are rushing three drop in eight.
- 11:20Speaker 4: There's nowhere for him to go, especially as we're talking
- 11:22Speaker 4: about with the with the personnel that he's got there
- 11:24Speaker 4: on the perimeter, you know, it's hard to find some completion.
- 11:27Speaker 5: So what does he do?
- 11:28Speaker 4: He stays patient, he takes what the defense is given him.
- 11:30Speaker 4: He's sitting Chuba Hubbard for four or five yards, He's
- 11:32Speaker 4: hitting little spot routes to Mingo, they're getting out of bounce,
- 11:35Speaker 4: they're moving the ball down the field, and then you know,
- 11:38Speaker 4: when he has to push it down the field, when
- 11:40Speaker 4: there's an opportunity to push it down the field, he
- 11:43Speaker 4: gets Mingo on that corner route down inside the five
- 11:46Speaker 4: end up scoring on the three yard dealing touchdown. So
- 11:48Speaker 4: I just think that, you know, That shows some maturity
- 11:50Speaker 4: from a young quarterback. Look, you've been frustrated all game long.
- 11:54Speaker 4: You're trying to find some big plays. They're not there.
- 11:56Speaker 4: He could have easily forced those things and into that
- 11:59Speaker 4: game prematurely. In stead, he gives his team an opportunity
- 12:01Speaker 4: go down. They weren't able to get the ball back
- 12:03Speaker 4: and go for the tying score. But I thought that
- 12:06Speaker 4: showed some maturity from a young quarterback.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there's positives to take away from it. And I
- 12:10Speaker 1: want to look at some of these other names on
- 12:11Speaker 1: this list guys, because you know, Buck, we're always looking
- 12:14Speaker 1: at from a scouting standpoint of what can we learn
- 12:16Speaker 1: And if you're a team that's sitting up there with
- 12:18Speaker 1: a number one overall pick, and you've got multiple quarterbacks
- 12:20Speaker 1: you can choose from, I think one of the characteristics
- 12:23Speaker 1: that you need to possess to be able to take
- 12:25Speaker 1: on that burden, the pressure I've taken over a team
- 12:28Speaker 1: picking first overall, you better have guys that can deal
- 12:30Speaker 1: with adversity and can come out of kind of the
- 12:33Speaker 1: rubble and survive. And when you look through this list,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I think you see it with Trevor Lawrence, the adversity
- 12:38Speaker 1: he faced in his first year and you saw him. Man,
- 12:41Speaker 1: that was that was tough. You know what Bryce is
- 12:43Speaker 1: facing is tough. These guys are going to have a
- 12:45Speaker 1: rough time early. You better have thick skin and you
- 12:48Speaker 1: better be able to learn from it and not get
- 12:51Speaker 1: just completely crushed by it. But you saw that with Trevor.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I did see with Trevor, And I mean the
- 12:56Speaker 3: difference is Trevor had an inexperienced coach kind of gutten
- 13:00Speaker 3: him through. Bryce and some of these young guys have
- 13:03Speaker 3: experienced coaches who've kind of dealt with the young quarterback
- 13:05Speaker 3: and helped the young quarterback mature as a process.
- 13:09Speaker 2: You would like to have a vet.
- 13:10Speaker 3: In the room to kind of walk them through, show
- 13:13Speaker 3: them and decide to create how you get for a
- 13:15Speaker 3: Monday night game, a Thursday night game, a Sunday night game.
- 13:17Speaker 3: All these other things helped them put their own plan
- 13:19Speaker 3: and processes in place so when they do become the
- 13:22Speaker 3: full time starter, they're ready to go and they're ready
- 13:24Speaker 3: to compete at a high level.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Yeah to me, you know, when you look at the
- 13:27Speaker 1: rest of this list, rhet the one guy I want
- 13:29Speaker 1: to hit you, and then we'll move on and take
- 13:31Speaker 1: a break here. But Matthew Stafford, that should be an
- 13:34Speaker 1: example of somebody who walked into a situation. Obviously with
- 13:37Speaker 1: Calvin Johnson there and that that's that's a pretty good
- 13:40Speaker 1: spot to be in with him. But this is a
- 13:42Speaker 1: team that didn't win games like any You talk about
- 13:45Speaker 1: having pressure on you to come in there and fix something,
- 13:48Speaker 1: he had it there. And we've seen Stafford go on
- 13:50Speaker 1: to win a Super Bowl.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Well, and you want to talk about the ability to
- 13:54Speaker 4: kind of reverse negative narratives. I mean, you guys, remember
- 13:57Speaker 4: the first couple of years of Stafford's career, goes down
- 13:59Speaker 4: with the knee injury, has the shoulder, and all of
- 14:01Speaker 4: a sudden, you got people talking about, oh, he's never
- 14:03Speaker 4: gonna be able to play a full season, he's injury prone.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Then he goes on like this incredible iron Man streak.
- 14:08Speaker 4: But the last part of his his Lion's career into
- 14:10Speaker 4: the beginning of his Rams career, and I think, you know,
- 14:14Speaker 4: just going back and watching this this forty nine Ers game,
- 14:17Speaker 4: I mean, when he's healthy, I mean he has I
- 14:20Speaker 4: mean that arm talent is you know, as we talked
- 14:22Speaker 4: about when he's coming out of Jordia, it's incredible, right,
- 14:24Speaker 4: I mean, like the throws he makes from the right
- 14:27Speaker 4: hash to the left sideline twenty five yards down the
- 14:30Speaker 4: field on you know, on on a deep out route
- 14:32Speaker 4: or a deep corner. I mean, I don't know there's
- 14:34Speaker 4: anybody like it, you know, the way that he can
- 14:36Speaker 4: layer that thing in there and push it down the
- 14:38Speaker 4: field with such great accuracy and velocity. I mean, it's
- 14:41Speaker 4: so much fun to watch when he's healthy, he's moving
- 14:43Speaker 4: around all over the place. And here's the other thing
- 14:44Speaker 4: I'll say for Stafford. You know, when something's working, he's
- 14:47Speaker 4: not going to abandon it, you know. And when Pooka
- 14:50Speaker 4: Nakua is just out there getting open all over the place,
- 14:53Speaker 4: we're going to keep We're just going to keep feeding.
- 14:55Speaker 4: And so right now, Stafford to Puka, Stafford to Cooper
- 14:59Speaker 4: Cup when he comes back, Like I think we kind
- 15:03Speaker 4: of left the Rams for dead, you know, in this
- 15:05Speaker 4: offseason and leading into this season. But I'm telling you
- 15:08Speaker 4: what with with a healthy Stafford and some of these
- 15:11Speaker 4: you know, the established weapon and Cup when he comes
- 15:13Speaker 4: back the emerging weapon in Puka, like it might be
- 15:16Speaker 4: some fun to watch here in this season in that
- 15:18Speaker 4: NFC West.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just Hey, I'm just drinking a warm cup
- 15:21Speaker 1: of Nikoua. Here.
- 15:22Speaker 2: That's it.
- 15:22Speaker 1: That's what we're gonna call this, this Rams offense. Here
- 15:25Speaker 1: a little cup in nikoua. All right, buck well, last
- 15:28Speaker 1: one here real quick, and that we'll hit this break.
- 15:30Speaker 1: If I told you of all these situations that they're
- 15:32Speaker 1: currently in, I would say Joe Burrow has the most
- 15:35Speaker 1: around him right now on this list, and here they
- 15:37Speaker 1: are sitting, oh to, I know the CAF, I know
- 15:39Speaker 1: he missed training camp, but I don't want you to
- 15:41Speaker 1: put a percentage on it. But should we be like
- 15:43Speaker 1: legit worried some of this Bengals team doesn't make it
- 15:45Speaker 1: to the tournament?
- 15:46Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I think we should because we just don't
- 15:48Speaker 3: know how long he's going to be gone. And to
- 15:49Speaker 3: drop off between Joe Burrow and Jay Brown is massive.
- 15:53Speaker 3: You've heard Jamar Chase and some of the wide receivers
- 15:56Speaker 3: way in on why Joe Burrow is the guy that
- 15:59Speaker 3: they want and why Jamar ches wanted Joe Burrow to
- 16:02Speaker 3: sit at the early part of the year because he
- 16:04Speaker 3: thought this could be a consideration in terms of an
- 16:07Speaker 3: injury down the road.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Uh, if you take Joe Burrow out of it.
- 16:10Speaker 3: They may have better weapons, but they're not going to
- 16:12Speaker 3: perform as well.
- 16:14Speaker 2: It brings him back to the pack.
- 16:15Speaker 3: It makes the group an even steven contest as opposed
- 16:18Speaker 3: to a lopside of the trade that it could have been.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, not the not the start that Joe Burrow or
- 16:21Speaker 1: the Bengals wanted.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Without question.
- 16:23Speaker 1: All right, we're gonna take a quick break. When we
- 16:25Speaker 1: come back. We are going to jump into this rookie draft,
- 16:28Speaker 1: which somehow I am just sucking at. We'll get to
- 16:31Speaker 1: that right after this. All right, let's jump back into
- 16:39Speaker 1: this here. We've we've been doing this all year long.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It's something new. It's the rookie draft, where we draft
- 16:44Speaker 1: a quarterback, running back, in a pass catcher each week.
- 16:46Speaker 1: They have to be rookies. We change up the draft order.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Here's where we are in week two. Just off the
- 16:52Speaker 1: fantasy points. That is a result wind for Rhett. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 1: he's he's yeah, he's impressive. Fifty two points.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Well we don't no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 17:04Speaker 3: He's not gonna take a what he got through that
- 17:05Speaker 3: point because last week, when I was all excited about
- 17:08Speaker 3: my fantasy win, you were like, yeah, it doesn't matter, No,
- 17:11Speaker 3: like well, what does This.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Is what matters. This is what matters. What we're looking
- 17:17Speaker 1: at right here. This is our scoring I gave you
- 17:19Speaker 1: the fantasy points just so you feel good about yourself.
- 17:22Speaker 1: But he's still won on our scoring system. He got
- 17:25Speaker 1: six points, Bucky, you got four. I got two easily two.
- 17:30Speaker 1: But so if we go over all for the season,
- 17:32Speaker 1: rets leading with ten, so he's got he's got ten points.
- 17:36Speaker 1: That's that's compressing. I guess I'll give I guess I'll
- 17:39Speaker 1: give RHTT the floor here, go ahead. I mean Stroud,
- 17:42Speaker 1: First of all, I would have won the quarterback if
- 17:44Speaker 1: Inchesce don't get hurt. He already had two touchdowns and
- 17:46Speaker 1: then he got it's out, so he hits his head
- 17:48Speaker 1: and he was done. We wouldn't be sitting here having
- 17:50Speaker 1: to listen to this buck. But go ahead, HTT, go ahead.
- 17:52Speaker 3: C J.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Stroud, I mean, my guy, CJ. Stroud did throw for
- 17:56Speaker 5: over three hundred and let a.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Nice comeback for the Houston Tech since in the second half,
- 18:01Speaker 4: now they look they got down early. And here's the
- 18:03Speaker 4: moral of the story for CJ. Stroud, and this is
- 18:05Speaker 4: both fantasy and reality. When he gets Laramie Tunsel and
- 18:09Speaker 4: Titus Howard back, and when they start playing, when that
- 18:11Speaker 4: offensive line starts picking it up a little bit, he's
- 18:13Speaker 4: going to be dangerous, like even more dangerous, especially within
- 18:16Speaker 4: this division, because his pinpoint accuracy is ball placement's ability
- 18:20Speaker 4: to hit those tight window throws. You saw that back
- 18:22Speaker 4: of the end zone throw to Nico Collins. He had
- 18:25Speaker 4: some I mean absolute threading the needle throws in this game,
- 18:29Speaker 4: the confidence to go out there and do it, and
- 18:31Speaker 4: then the ability to execute it from a rookie.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I just really impressed with that. I think he's only
- 18:35Speaker 5: going to get better.
- 18:36Speaker 4: So that's gonna be a lot of fun to watch,
- 18:37Speaker 4: and better targets than I think people are giving the
- 18:41Speaker 4: Texans credit for. Like Nico Collins is showing up this year. Obviously,
- 18:44Speaker 4: Robert Woods is steady, Eddy Tank Dell coming along, and
- 18:47Speaker 4: then they just get John Metchi back last week. So
- 18:50Speaker 4: I think that's gonna be something to kind of watch
- 18:52Speaker 4: moving forward. And then look, Bijon, whoever's got the first pick,
- 18:56Speaker 4: I mean, just lock Bijon in right all year long.
- 18:58Speaker 4: That's just going to be over it be too much fun. Yeah, yeah, it's.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Every week, and look is I have the first pick today?
- 19:05Speaker 1: We'll get to that in a minute. I'll tell you
- 19:07Speaker 1: right now, I'm gonna take be Shaw and you have
- 19:08Speaker 1: to buck when you look at him coming into the league.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Is there anybody I talked about LT? I'm like, I
- 19:14Speaker 1: hate comparing people to all famers, but when you watch
- 19:16Speaker 1: the video, he looks just like LT. But can you
- 19:18Speaker 1: compare this? I know a Carolina you guys had back
- 19:20Speaker 1: to back first round running backs, right you had what
- 19:22Speaker 1: Jonathan Stewart and D'Angelo that was that back to back years.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I mean close proximity. It was doing a run where
- 19:28Speaker 3: we were taking the first round backs all the time.
- 19:30Speaker 3: But it's funny, DJ. Yeah, the Ladanian Thomason comparison is
- 19:35Speaker 3: really valid because I go back to watching Alt when
- 19:38Speaker 3: he was at TCU. I remember going to Nevada watching
- 19:41Speaker 3: him run. He ran for like two hundred and fifty
- 19:42Speaker 3: yards against the wolf Pack, and it was very similar
- 19:46Speaker 3: to the way that b Jon Robinson runs the football.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Stop star quickness, burst power, and then you fast forward.
- 19:51Speaker 3: He goes to the Chargers and he becomes a machine
- 19:53Speaker 3: that can not only do it as a runner, but
- 19:55Speaker 3: he can catch your ball out the backfield. And you
- 19:57Speaker 3: just think, I think he had one hundred receptions his
- 19:58Speaker 3: rookie season. Nord Turner just giving it to him every
- 20:01Speaker 3: way that you can possibly give it to a running back,
- 20:03Speaker 3: and that's b John Robinson. And what I love about
- 20:06Speaker 3: the system that he's in is we know that Arthur
- 20:08Speaker 3: Smith knows how to use running backs and he is
- 20:12Speaker 3: going to feed Bjon Robinson and some of the other
- 20:14Speaker 3: the running backs there. But Bijon is going to be
- 20:17Speaker 3: the feature guy. He's a guy on the marquee. He's
- 20:19Speaker 3: a terrific player.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Man. I look, he's a rare He's a one of
- 20:22Speaker 2: a kind of playman.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm pulling this up right now because when you
- 20:27Speaker 1: look at when you look at LC and people, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 1: I think sometimes it's easy, even though you're a Hall
- 20:31Speaker 1: of Famer, I think people can kind of look at
- 20:33Speaker 1: it and go, I kind of forgot, you know, what
- 20:34Speaker 1: he was and what he was all about. That first year,
- 20:37Speaker 1: his rookie year, he went for twelve hundred and thirty
- 20:39Speaker 1: six yards and ten touchdowns and then it just went
- 20:41Speaker 1: up from there. Sixteen hundred plus, sixteen hundred plus thirteen hundred,
- 20:44Speaker 1: fourteen hundred, eighteen hundred, fourteen hundred, eleven hundred, So I'm
- 20:49Speaker 1: and not it's not even talking the touchdowns ten fourteen, thirteen, seventeen, eighteen,
- 20:53Speaker 1: twenty eight, fifteen, eleven, twelve. Like, this is the type
- 20:56Speaker 1: of player we're talking about here. We're not saying like, oh,
- 20:59Speaker 1: he's lash, he's done some good things, he can be
- 21:02Speaker 1: a really No, we're saying, this dude has a chance
- 21:04Speaker 1: to be one of the best. And when you watch
- 21:06Speaker 1: him with his combination, it's just rare. When you see
- 21:10Speaker 1: the speed and the power. You'll see guys that have
- 21:12Speaker 1: that right. They are explosive and they can run through
- 21:14Speaker 1: tackles and they're strong and powerful, and then you'll see
- 21:17Speaker 1: the change. There's change of pace. Guys the shifty to
- 21:19Speaker 1: make you miss the instinctive field runners who are you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: four six five guys, But they just have a great
- 21:24Speaker 1: feel and sense and vision.
- 21:26Speaker 2: He has all of that.
- 21:28Speaker 1: So that's what makes him such a special special player.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And one other rookie y'all hit on here before we
- 21:33Speaker 1: move on to this year's draft. Jordan Addison. I felt like,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know, there's a lot of hype on him at
- 21:39Speaker 1: pitt he transfers to USC the ball got spread around
- 21:42Speaker 1: a little bit with the Trojans, and it was kind
- 21:43Speaker 1: of like, Okay, kind of came back a little bit.
- 21:45Speaker 1: What are the expectations with him in the draft. He's undersize.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We talked so much about that one hundred and seventy
- 21:50Speaker 1: something pounds and then you get on the field and like, dude,
- 21:53Speaker 1: the guy all the guy doesn't make plays. You saw
- 21:55Speaker 1: it on the deep post against the Philadelphia Eagles where
- 21:58Speaker 1: he knows how to stem and weave and lean and
- 22:00Speaker 1: create separation. He's just a skilled, skilled route runner and
- 22:04Speaker 1: buck to me, it's another example. We talked about it
- 22:07Speaker 1: with Pooka Nakua. You know, Reet's godson that these guys
- 22:10Speaker 1: that come into the league. Zay Flower is another example.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Somebody who's having an immediate success. Polish route runners do
- 22:16Speaker 1: drop them in plug and play off you win.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 3: I mean, I think what we're seeing in a lot
- 22:21Speaker 3: of these things DJ is more production and polished performance
- 22:26Speaker 3: over the potential. We can talk about how a player
- 22:29Speaker 3: could develop and what he could be at the next level.
- 22:31Speaker 3: It's a lot different when you go after the guys
- 22:33Speaker 3: that you see do it over and over again and
- 22:35Speaker 3: their skills are transferable. These route runners like Jordan Addison
- 22:39Speaker 3: like save Flowers.
- 22:40Speaker 2: They have it.
- 22:41Speaker 3: They had it, and you can see it. You can
- 22:42Speaker 3: see how they were able to win. They weren't winning
- 22:44Speaker 3: just off their natural tools. They're winning off of the
- 22:47Speaker 3: technique and just understanding how to get it done. Jordan
- 22:50Speaker 3: Addison is one of those guys. He's gonna find a
- 22:51Speaker 3: way to continue to get open and playing opposite Justin Jefferson.
- 22:55Speaker 3: He's an easy one to fall in love with because
- 22:57Speaker 3: he's going to have so many one on one opportunity
- 22:59Speaker 3: And as we get to.
- 23:00Speaker 1: This week's draft, guys, I just got a sense and
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'm not forecasting if I might take him or not,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but speaking of these whiteouts js N, Jackson Smith and Jigba,
- 23:08Speaker 1: it feels like that that big game is coming. It's
- 23:11Speaker 1: getting close here. So that's just just dropping that on
- 23:15Speaker 1: there first pick. I'm not going to waste your time.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You guys know what I'm doing. I don't need to
- 23:19Speaker 1: waste I got Bjon Buck, You're up. That's easy.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Well, Bejeon is an easy one, dang quarterback. Give me CJ.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Stroup, which is going against my normal rules. Are my
- 23:33Speaker 3: normal rules are I typically don't play fantasy against my team,
- 23:37Speaker 3: But he's going against the Jaguar, So I have a
- 23:40Speaker 3: little bit of a rooting interest kind of that he
- 23:42Speaker 3: will find a way to put up some points.
- 23:44Speaker 2: We don't crush this, dang.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Getj there with one of those next two picks.
- 23:53Speaker 2: No, you're not gonna get him back to back weeks.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Okay, Well, I mean I have to take a quarterback
- 23:59Speaker 4: here because I'm not going to be left out in
- 24:00Speaker 4: the cold if Anthony Richardson doesn't play this week.
- 24:03Speaker 5: So uh yeah, Bryce Young, I'm gonna read a choice here.
- 24:07Speaker 5: You're done. You should have thought about that.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You should have thought about that.
- 24:11Speaker 5: A screw give me Bryce Young and then give me.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh wow, I mean.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Until I mean, you're targeting him twenty times. Fantasy is
- 24:24Speaker 4: all about target share, is about volume, Like he's getting
- 24:28Speaker 4: volume more than anybody.
- 24:29Speaker 5: So give me Pooka and Bryce Young. It picks three
- 24:32Speaker 5: to four.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Okay, I think he comes back to me. So then
- 24:34Speaker 3: that means I get a chance to take Zay Flowers. Right,
- 24:37Speaker 3: So I take Zay Flowers because OBJ probably isn't going
- 24:40Speaker 3: to suit up. Maybe he's herd ankle, so let's go
- 24:42Speaker 3: with it. Let's go with Zay, all.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Right, Zay Flowers, So then I get my next two picks. Well,
- 24:47Speaker 1: one of them is Richardson, so I can just say
- 24:49Speaker 1: that and uh, here's to a healthy wish to rehab
- 24:52Speaker 1: there and get yourself ready to go. So I feel
- 24:57Speaker 1: like I'm gonna win the running back I'm not feeling
- 25:00Speaker 1: about one of the quarterbacks. So I've got to win
- 25:02Speaker 1: the wide out spot here. So Zave Flowers is gone,
- 25:05Speaker 1: Puka Nakua is gone. I've got Jordan Addison against the Chargers.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So I could do what Bucky's doing and take a
- 25:13Speaker 1: play that you're gonna that sounds like a live and
- 25:15Speaker 1: in person. I'm tempted. You don't know how bad I
- 25:19Speaker 1: want to take Tank Dell. I would love I I'm
- 25:22Speaker 1: a Tankdale guy. Yeah gosh, yeah, he had he had
- 25:26Speaker 1: eight for seventy four last week. Yeah, man against the Jags.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I don't know how I don't take Addison. So I
- 25:34Speaker 1: know we want to get some new names in the mix,
- 25:36Speaker 1: but I I have no choice. I've got to take
- 25:38Speaker 1: Jordan Adison there, Buck, you're up.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Don't worry.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I got Well, it's easy. It's Jamie Gibbs. I'm gonna
- 25:43Speaker 2: take Jamie Gibbs from Detroit this season.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I got him, all right, So you're going, Jamior Gibbs,
- 25:49Speaker 4: I guess you know, just hasn't seen the We haven't
- 25:52Speaker 4: seen the production in the run game. And he's on
- 25:54Speaker 4: one of my actual fantasy teams, and but they are
- 25:56Speaker 4: targeting the heck out of him in the past game.
- 25:58Speaker 4: So like you're thinking, you're gonna get a few, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 4: more than a few receptions here, one that I am
- 26:03Speaker 4: quite interested in here, guys, and happy to have fall
- 26:06Speaker 4: to me here with the final pick of our draft,
- 26:09Speaker 4: Roshan Johnson.
- 26:11Speaker 2: So hey, new name, new name, new name.
- 26:16Speaker 5: You know they did not well, let's just call it
- 26:19Speaker 5: like it is.
- 26:19Speaker 4: The Bears did nothing of note on offense outside of
- 26:22Speaker 4: a couple of throws, a couple of plays by DJ Moore.
- 26:25Speaker 4: But Khalil Herbert went down in that game, if I'm
- 26:28Speaker 4: not mistaken. And Roshan, while you only got four carries,
- 26:31Speaker 4: he popped off twenty nine yard run. I think I
- 26:36Speaker 4: think we're gonna start to see some.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Take over here.
- 26:38Speaker 4: I might be a little early on the Rochan train,
- 26:40Speaker 4: but I'm I'm willing to jump on right now and
- 26:43Speaker 4: have him leave me to.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Victory, all right. The only thing I'll say about this.
- 26:47Speaker 1: To kind of wrap this up, RHTT, the only flaw
- 26:51Speaker 1: in your logic is that you might actually have to
- 26:53Speaker 1: watch the Bears offense. That's that's well. Wait a second
- 26:57Speaker 1: rule number one in fantasy football, do not draft players
- 27:00Speaker 1: if you do not want to watch their team. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: that is not an easy watching Against the Chief. Yeah,
- 27:07Speaker 1: against the Chief. So I'm sure they'll be running it
- 27:08Speaker 1: a lot. They won't be chasing points at all. That's RHTT.
- 27:11Speaker 1: He does his homework each and every week. How is
- 27:13Speaker 1: this guy winning this thing? It is an absolute mystery.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I have no idea.
- 27:17Speaker 5: All right, hooka pooka, it's all. I need a one
- 27:20Speaker 5: man show.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Unbelievable, unbelievable. All right, another rookie draft is in the books. Man,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I've got to get better at this. This is embarrassing.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I can't.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I cannot allow rhtt to uh to continue to maintain
- 27:31Speaker 1: his lead here. I need Buckier myself to overtake him.
- 27:35Speaker 1: So hopefully this is the week that happens again. We'll
- 27:37Speaker 1: come back next week. We'll recap the scores, update the standing,
- 27:40Speaker 1: see where we're at. But keep an eye on these rookies.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Fun way to do it. We're definitely enjoying that. All right.
