This Fourth of July, Virginia’s DWR is launching Operation Dry Water to keep waters safe—more officers on patrol, zero tolerance for impaired boating, and mandatory life jackets. Last year saw 10 DUI arrests and over 250 citations; this year, they’re determined to prevent tragedy after already logging 5 deaths and 6 injuries. Don’t forget: fire extinguishers, proper lighting, throwable devices on boats over 16 feet, and slow down if you see a DWR boat.
