- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, uh huh, I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning everybody, y'all listening to the voice. Come on
- 0:08Speaker 2: dig me now one and on Steve Harvey got a
- 0:12Speaker 2: radio show. Hell Man back in business too, Man Man,
- 0:18Speaker 2: How good is God? I mean, really, if you think
- 0:20Speaker 2: about it in spite of all that's going down in
- 0:22Speaker 2: your life. First of all, it could be worse. But secondly,
- 0:26Speaker 2: sometimes you have to remember. And I've just had to
- 0:29Speaker 2: have this conversation with myself this morning. That's how I'm
- 0:33Speaker 2: fresh on this one right here. When a challenge faces you,
- 0:38Speaker 2: are you going through a difficult moment, or you didn't
- 0:41Speaker 2: hit a bump in the road in the middle of that,
- 0:44Speaker 2: if you could manage to be grateful, it would take
- 0:47Speaker 2: you a long way. Gratitude is a powerful resource if
- 0:53Speaker 2: you can be grateful in the middle of it. Gratitude
- 0:56Speaker 2: is a powerful resource when it's dim for you. And
- 1:01Speaker 2: then got a little bumpy on the road, and he
- 1:04Speaker 2: ran into some obstacles, and you done ran up into
- 1:07Speaker 2: some detailed signs, and your journey ain't smooth as it
- 1:11Speaker 2: was last week or last year. You gotta be grateful
- 1:16Speaker 2: for the things that are going right and that have
- 1:20Speaker 2: gone right.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And for the thing that's wrong right now to get right? Man?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Can I share that with you? Man? Is that a
- 1:27Speaker 1: tough one to learn? It is for me. It has
- 1:30Speaker 1: been one of my toughest challenges is to learn how
- 1:35Speaker 1: to be grateful because it's a powerful resource, but how
- 1:39Speaker 1: to be grateful in moments of despair when it ain't
- 1:42Speaker 1: going right. See here's a mistake I would make. See
- 1:45Speaker 1: when something go wrong, I want to focus on the
- 1:47Speaker 1: wrong so much in an attempt to fix it. But
- 1:52Speaker 1: even then, the focus ain't always in to fix it.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The focus becomes, Man, this is bad. Man, I can't
- 2:00Speaker 1: believe this is happening. Why just keep going down? That
- 2:04Speaker 1: doesn't fix anything, you know, mealing over it, going over
- 2:09Speaker 1: what's wrong, explaining it, sharing it with your friends, you know,
- 2:15Speaker 1: making it sound worse than it is, tell the story
- 2:19Speaker 1: for pity from other people. All of that, right there,
- 2:22Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the fix. Sometimes you're just
- 2:25Speaker 1: mulling over it. You're just making it worse. You're just
- 2:28Speaker 1: making it a bigger problem. You're manifesting it into your atmosphere,
- 2:33Speaker 1: You're putting it out there in your spirit. Now all
- 2:35Speaker 1: of a sudden it consumes your day. Next thing you
- 2:37Speaker 1: know you're having a bad day. If you're having a
- 2:40Speaker 1: bad day, it's because you've been having some bad thoughts.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So what I've had to learn how to do, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: what I'm working on this morning is I'm working on
- 2:49Speaker 1: the situation that Ben cropped up. I was going kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of smooth here for a minute and now then got
- 2:54Speaker 1: real bumpy in the road, you know, and all this here.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So what I'm thinking about now though, is even though
- 3:00Speaker 1: I've hit a bumping the road, and even though I
- 3:03Speaker 1: done ran into a detour, and even though I've hit
- 3:07Speaker 1: this lull, I'm going down into a valley, I ain't
- 3:10Speaker 1: up on the peak. Can I not still be grateful
- 3:14Speaker 1: for all the things that God has given me, for
- 3:18Speaker 1: all the things He's done for me, for all the
- 3:20Speaker 1: things He's bought me through, And realizing that even this
- 3:25Speaker 1: that's happening to me again is going to pass to
- 3:29Speaker 1: He gonna get me through that too. Come on, man,
- 3:31Speaker 1: God is a good god man. It's a lot to
- 3:34Speaker 1: be grateful for. So while I'm tripping on this bumping
- 3:36Speaker 1: the road out and here, what I got to remember
- 3:38Speaker 1: is all the things He's done for me. And like
- 3:41Speaker 1: I say, my saying is join depression cannot reside in
- 3:44Speaker 1: the same place. So instead of being down about this
- 3:47Speaker 1: new bumping the road, if I'm constantly filling my mind
- 3:51Speaker 1: with the thoughts of how good he's been to me,
- 3:54Speaker 1: of what all he's done for me, of all the
- 3:56Speaker 1: things he's brought me through, of all the blessings he's
- 3:59Speaker 1: presented me with. When I go down that list, I
- 4:02Speaker 1: really don't have a lot of time to mull over
- 4:07Speaker 1: the situation. Now. Do I have to fix this bump
- 4:11Speaker 1: in the row? Of course I do. Are There's some
- 4:13Speaker 1: things I'm going to have to do to straighten it out.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Of course it is. But Steve just going to get
- 4:19Speaker 1: the business of doing it and straighten it out. What
- 4:21Speaker 1: you mulling over and worrying about it for you know,
- 4:24Speaker 1: old people. I heard old people say something when I
- 4:26Speaker 1: was growing up in the church. They say, if you're
- 4:28Speaker 1: gonna pray about it, don't worry about it. But if
- 4:30Speaker 1: you're gonna worry about it, don't pray about it. That's
- 4:33Speaker 1: an amazing thing. And prayer just happens to be my
- 4:37Speaker 1: weapon of choice. Now, it ain't always been that way.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I want you to understand that my first weapon of
- 4:42Speaker 1: choice was you do it to me, I do it
- 4:45Speaker 1: to you. You called me out, I call you out.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You say something bad about me, I've tried to find
- 4:50Speaker 1: you say something bad about you. That was my weapon
- 4:53Speaker 1: in the past. How did that work out for you, Steve?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Not so good? Because you know what, I spent a
- 4:59Speaker 1: lo lot of time fighting back, kicking back, swinging back,
- 5:05Speaker 1: when I could have spent all that time climbing. See,
- 5:08Speaker 1: all you trying to do at the end of the day, folks,
- 5:11Speaker 1: is have a better life than the one you got.
- 5:13Speaker 1: All you trying to do is to improve your position
- 5:16Speaker 1: in life. You know, it's not my business to make
- 5:19Speaker 1: sure you don't get where you going. I ain't got
- 5:21Speaker 1: no time for that. It's not my job to assure
- 5:24Speaker 1: that you ain't as high as me. I ain't got
- 5:27Speaker 1: no time for that. Your real mission and purpose is
- 5:31Speaker 1: to have the best life that you can have, To
- 5:34Speaker 1: ascend to the highest plateau that you can get to,
- 5:37Speaker 1: to make your family as comfortable as you can, to
- 5:41Speaker 1: provide as much as you can for your family. But legally, see,
- 5:45Speaker 1: those of us are sitting up here trying to come
- 5:47Speaker 1: up with sideways. You can ask a couple million men
- 5:50Speaker 1: sitting in prison today how they wish they hadn't have
- 5:52Speaker 1: done that, And they'll tell you, Oh, man, I wish
- 5:56Speaker 1: I never had did it. I knew not to go
- 5:58Speaker 1: down there. Something told me not to go down there. Man.
- 6:02Speaker 1: If I could change things, I would. But they sitting
- 6:05Speaker 1: somewhere doing some time that had they made another decision,
- 6:09Speaker 1: they wouldn't have to do now. That don't make them
- 6:11Speaker 1: throw away people, nah, man, because everybody make mistakes, and
- 6:15Speaker 1: God is in the forgiving business. And some of us
- 6:18Speaker 1: have done some things that really broke the law, and
- 6:21Speaker 1: a whole lot of other things and deserve to do
- 6:24Speaker 1: some time. But through the grace of God, we didn't.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But now we sit up here we pass judgment on
- 6:28Speaker 1: people who got to do some matter. I don't care.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I don't care what you've done. God can forgive anything.
- 6:34Speaker 1: But our position, our motivation in life is to try
- 6:38Speaker 1: to have the best life we can have and provide
- 6:40Speaker 1: for those around us and make it comfortable. If that's
- 6:43Speaker 1: your ambition, you don't have time to worry about or
- 6:47Speaker 1: concern yourself with another person. And I wasted time doing that,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and that's not the way to get it done. It's
- 6:56Speaker 1: simply mine to your business. Taking care of you and
- 6:59Speaker 1: getting yourself right and tight is twenty four to seven.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So that's a full time job. So what I had
- 7:04Speaker 1: to learn was and what I've the reason I've chosen
- 7:08Speaker 1: prayers as my weapon of choice now is that now
- 7:12Speaker 1: prayer helps me that I don't have to fight back. Now,
- 7:16Speaker 1: if I get cornered, I'm gonna fight you. I ain't
- 7:20Speaker 1: even gonna lie to you. And I'm still working on
- 7:22Speaker 1: some things that trigger me. You know, you know, you know,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and and so I'm I'm slowly getting better at that.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But I've learned that my weapon of choice is prayer now.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So when it happens ugly for me, I pray about it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: When it gets tight and dismal for me, I pray
- 7:44Speaker 1: about it. And the thing about prayer, man, is prayer
- 7:47Speaker 1: changes things. Yes it does. Now read about it and
- 7:53Speaker 1: try it. That's the deal, Okay, come on, Prayer is
- 7:57Speaker 1: a wonderful weapon. To the Steve Harvey Morning Show
