Speaker 1: The poll last night, the one used Varian Pole that
• 0:02
Speaker 1: had basically not a lot of change other than a
• 0:05
Speaker 1: dip in the personal popularity of both the leaders of
• 0:09
Speaker 1: the major parties, in Chris Luxon and in Chris Hipkins.
• 0:14
Speaker 1: Nothing really major is going on, is it? And it's
• 0:17
Speaker 1: been that way for a couple of poles. Now. What
• 0:20
Speaker 1: I find interesting is just the vibe, the energy levels
• 0:24
Speaker 1: that you're picking up off these guys. Luxon, he's like
• 0:29
Speaker 1: the road Runner. You never ever watched the road Runner,
• 0:31
Speaker 1: the Looney Tunes thing, and he's running around in a
• 0:35
Speaker 1: cloud of dust, bumping into things. You know, get out
• 0:38
Speaker 1: of my way. I'm just in a hurry to get
• 0:39
Speaker 1: rid of this done and off you goes. And meanwhile,
• 0:45
Speaker 1: old Hipkins, well is his hard on it? What do
• 0:49
Speaker 1: you really think when you see him being interviewed. I mean,
• 0:52
Speaker 1: I've interviewed him over many years now, and I just
• 0:55
Speaker 1: think it must be hard to maintain a level of enthusiasm.
• 0:59
Speaker 1: But I just think he's sort of outwardly showing it. Now.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: You know, he'll be dusting off as CV, no doubt
• 1:07
Speaker 1: he'll be thinking about what's next. He doesn't want to
• 1:09
Speaker 1: be there for the next election. Does he. I mean
• 1:12
Speaker 1: the problem at the moment is no one else really
• 1:13
Speaker 1: wants to take the job by that, because it's a
• 1:15
Speaker 1: bit of a poisoned chalice. But I look at Chris
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: Hipkins and I think there's a man who doesn't want
• 1:21
Speaker 1: to be there. I mean, that's why you go and
• 1:24
Speaker 1: spend two weeks over in London, at Liverpool actually half
• 1:29
Speaker 1: the time. Anyway, we will watch these polls with interest,
• 1:33
Speaker 1: won't we. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
• 1:37
Speaker 1: listen live to news talks he'd be from five am weekdays,
• 1:41
Speaker 1: or follow the podcast on iHeartRadio.
