- Brandon: Well, good morning and welcome again to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. My name is Pastor Brandon and I'm one of the pastors here at our church. And today on behalf of our senior pastors, Pastor Skill and Debbie and our entire team, just want to say thank you so much for listening to the Daily Word Podcast. It really is our joy and our privilege to be able to take time every day and share with you just simply what we are receiving from God as we're spending time with him. that being said, today is August the 27th, and we are starting today, Revelation chapter one. And what a unique, challenging, misunderstood, highly debated and talked about book we are about to start. And just today, as we start the book of Revelation, here's what I would encourage you. that as you read Revelations for the next number of days. I'm trying to think just off the top of my head how many chapters are in the book of Revelation, however many days that would be. I'm flipping to my Bible right now just to look. Revelation 22. Yeah, 22. I should have known that. for the next 20 do two days as we're reading the book of Revelation, just want to highly encourage you that that you you you would read it, but that you would prayerfully read it. And you would say, God, this can be somewhat of a confusing, highly debated hard to understand book at times for for for for people. God, the point is not to f to to scare me. The point is not that I would walk in fear. The point is that's not the point of it. the point is not that I get confused and go some you know down some, you know, dark rabbit hole and no, just like all the scripture, the point of this book is you want to speak to me and you want to ready me and equip me for the day that I'm living today, but the days I'm living in in general. And we are in The last days. Pastor Brandon, last days? Like what what do you mean? I I mean we're in the last days. we we don't know if we're in the last of the last days. but here's what we know. Every day we get up, it's one day closer. And if the people that were writing the scriptures that we read, inspired by God obviously, but but but but they they were writing it, if if they said they were living in the last days, you know, two two thousand plus years later, we are for sure living in the last days. And and this this book is a gift from God to speak to us, to encourage us, and to equip us for the days we're living in, not to scare us or confuse us. And so prayerfully read it. God, would you give me wisdom and understanding and insight into what you're saying? I would also say use good study material. blue letter Bible is a great resource. the Spirit Filled Life Bible is my favorite Bible to to use. The ESV is a great study. Get a good study Bible if you don't have one. And read read the notes, read the the the the the the commentary on it and things of that nature. That being said, today it is, like I said, August 27th. We're starting the book of Revelation, and I want to read to you kind of on the the premise of what I just shared, Revelation chapter one, verse three. Blessed is he who reads, and those who hear the words of this prophecy. And keep those things which are written in it, for the time is near. Here's three observations that I want to give you that lead to three applications. Number one, the author says, blessed, blessed. I don't know about you, but I'm trying to get blessed. I want to live the blessed life and the best life that God has for me. blessed is he who number one, first observation, reads, reads, reads, reads. We shouldn't avoid the book of Revelation. A lot of people do. I'll just leave it right there. We shouldn't avoid the book of Revelation and a lot of people it's confusing, it's hard, it's difficult, it's weird. I'm not reading it. Read it. Read it. Prayerfully, led by the Spirit. God speak to me with good study, study material next to you. Read the book of Revelation. Blessed he who number one reads it. And those who hear the words of this prophecy. Did you know you can read something and not really hear it? May maybe you Grew up and you can remember reading a book and having to write a paper on it for school, and you're like, I don't, I don't even know what that book said, because you were reading but you weren't listening. And number two, the author says, Blessed is he who not only reads, but he who hears, listens. So as you read the book of Revelation, listen. God speak to me. But maybe take an extra five, ten minutes in your quiet time to saying, God speak to me. God I got God I I wanna have ears to hear. The point is not that I understand every little prophetic nuance, but God, the point is that I hear what you're saying to me. Blessed is he who reads it, he who hears it, and number three, and he who keeps the things which are written in it. My three observations and lead leading the three applications very simply read the book of Revelation. Prayerfully ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you. And number two, hear it. Listen, God, what are you saying to me? God, what do I need for my life? God, I need to hear your voice. God, I need to be equipped thoroughly. God, speak to me. Speak to me, God. And number number three, keep it. Whatever God speaks to you, do it. By the way, that is the recipe for the life you really want. I'm just gonna say that again. The recipe for the life you really want is go to God, hear his voice, and do what he says. The blessing is in the hearing and the obeying. Do what God says. Because here's what the last part of this verse says: for the time is near. You don't got the time you think you have. You don't have the time you think you have. Jesus is coming back. Life is short. Life is moving. Go to God. Read His Word. Remember the point of the Daily Word podcast: it is to encourage you to go and you to spend time with God. Go read His Word. Go sit down. Open your Bible. Open a journal. Get a pen. Get a highlighter. Lift up your hands. Call out to God. God, speak to me. God, speak to me. And And read the Bible. Listen to his voice and do what he tells you to do because the time is near. We don't have the time we think we have. And so my encouragement it is that you would, yes, the book of Revelation, but make it a practice of your life that you would come to Jesus every day. You would read, we're starting with Revelation. You'd read this book, but you read the Bible. You'd hear what God is speaking to you, and you would put it into practice for the time is near. Y you you know it's so interesting and and I've never done this on the Daily Word podcast. But as I was sharing that with you, God started giving me new and fresh revelation. Like I started to record this podcast thinking I was just gonna go like, Hey, read the book of Revelation, because it's kinda weird and a lot of people avoid it and people are like, I don't really know about that. try to hear what God's saying to you and just do it and then that was the podcast. But as I'm again As I'm just thinking about and and as I'm I'm chewing on by the way, that that's all we're doing in journaling. What you're doing in journaling is what I'm doing on the Daily Word podcast. What you're doing in in in prayerfully reading is what I'm doing just talking to you. But instead, you're not talking to a mic, you're talking to God. God, God, this is what the word says. God, this is what I read today. God, this is what prayerfully process what you are reading and receiving from God and And and God will give you more revelation because again, I'm just planning on sharing, read Revelation, listen to the it the best you can, do what it says, because the time is near. But as I'm processing this, literally I can feel the Holy Spirit saying to me, No, no, no, no. But this is a real-time example of what I'm trying to tell you. Like the point of what I wanted to show you in Revelation 1 today, Brandon, isn't about revelation. It's about your whole life. That you need to do a better job. Coming to me, calling out to me, reading the scripture, listening to my voice, and doing what I'm telling you to do. when we prayerfully process our Bible reading, when we read the scripture and prayerfully process it and we journal it, something happens. So with almost 60 seconds left on the podcast, this is an under 10-minute podcast. Again, go to God, read his word. Call out to him. Listen to what he's saying to you. Prayerfully process it. Write it down and do what it says. Because the life you really want, it's this recipe. And remember, the time is near. You don't have the time you think you have. Whatever that means to you today, you don't, whatever it means to you, you don't have the time you think you have. So stop messing around and get serious about the things of God. God loves you. I love you. Talk to you tomorrow on another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. God. Bless.
