- 0:00Speaker 1: Speaking of hatred, two coaches that don't seem to like
- 0:02Speaker 1: each other very much this week, but are really good
- 0:03Speaker 1: friends off the field the other 51 weeks of the year.
- 0:06Speaker 1: John Summerall and Alex Golish, Florida at Auburn, the Plains
- 0:10Speaker 1: at Jordan-Hare Stadium. We are presented by PrizePix. We'll give
- 0:13Speaker 1: you a complete matchup guide for Auburn and Florida. The
- 0:18Speaker 1: We talked about the off-field storylines in LSU Ole Miss.
- 0:21Speaker 2: They really exist here, too.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The quarterback and the coach that beat you last year
- 0:24Speaker 1: in a group of five school, you're now going to
- 0:26Speaker 1: play them in an SEC stadium? The coach that Auburn
- 0:30Speaker 1: seemed like they were about to land spurned them and
- 0:34Speaker 1: goes to Florida. Alex Golish trying to prove that, hey,
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm not just second fiddle to that guy down there
- 0:40Speaker 1: in Gainesville, and I am just as good, if not better,
- 0:41Speaker 1: than him.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And then Florida, all the questions that they had.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You know, an extra wrinkle in this was Florida's former
- 0:48Speaker 1: quarterback playing against Auburn in week one and what that
- 0:51Speaker 1: looked like. So the off field storylines here, not as dramatic,
- 0:55Speaker 1: not as salacious. I think, you know, there's maybe a
- 0:58Speaker 1: little less hatred going on in this one, but two
- 1:00Speaker 1: fan bases that man, I watching Florida and Auburn fans
- 1:03Speaker 1: go at it for the last three weeks because they
- 1:05Speaker 1: vote well, two weeks because Auburn did have Baylor, but
- 1:08Speaker 1: watching them go at it because this game does mean
- 1:10Speaker 1: so much. And again, you know, I don't think either
- 1:13Speaker 1: tenure is, you know, it's disaster if they don't win,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but I do know that it gives the winner a
- 1:20Speaker 1: real leg up on the rest of the season. Cause
- 1:22Speaker 1: I think both teams look at this as a game
- 1:23Speaker 1: they can win. And both teams know if we don't
- 1:25Speaker 1: win this one, it gets a hell of a lot
- 1:27Speaker 1: harder here soon. So we probably need to go ahead
- 1:30Speaker 1: and get the wins where we can.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So thoughts.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I think it's disaster for all. I think it's disaster
- 1:34Speaker 3: for some role. If he doesn't win, I think you
- 1:36Speaker 3: can talk yourself out of it a little bit. If
- 1:39Speaker 3: you're Auburn and say, We've got, you know, we essentially
- 1:43Speaker 3: just imported a G5 program for year one as a foundation,
- 1:48Speaker 3: and things will get better. But if you're Florida and
- 1:53Speaker 3: you just went through what you went through with Billy
- 1:56Speaker 3: and you lose this game, man, the chatter will start.
- 2:01Speaker 3: You know that fan base. I know that fan base.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I'm not even trying to throw shade on them or
- 2:05Speaker 3: anything like that. But, like, you can see the tweets
- 2:09Speaker 3: on Saturday night of, like, They went and got another
- 2:14Speaker 3: Sunbelt coach and like, here I am, you know, like
- 2:16Speaker 3: Sunbelt Johnny or something like that is going to start.
- 2:20Speaker 1: It makes it worse that it's literally the coach and
- 2:24Speaker 1: the quarterback. And we talked about Brian Brown for a
- 2:25Speaker 1: little bit. I'm not convinced that he's like, I mean,
- 2:29Speaker 1: he's certainly not an sec level passer now sec level
- 2:32Speaker 1: quarterback and runner, you know, like maybe, maybe, maybe with
- 2:37Speaker 1: his legs, but like for, for, yeah, losing this would
- 2:40Speaker 1: not be great. Now they would have an opportunity to
- 2:43Speaker 1: come back and respond against Ole Miss the next week
- 2:44Speaker 1: in the swamp. And you know, if you can, if
- 2:46Speaker 1: that's how, if you split these games, it doesn't really
- 2:48Speaker 1: matter to me how you split them. I think you're
- 2:49Speaker 1: in good shape, but yeah, Florida has so what I
- 2:52Speaker 1: can't get over in this is how much talent Florida has.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Like I liked, I like Florida as the slight favorite.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I mean, I'll, I'll tell you, you know, not to
- 3:00Speaker 1: ruin the picks for the end of the segment, but
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm going to pick Florida in this game. I can't
- 3:04Speaker 1: get over the amount of talent they have. Now there
- 3:06Speaker 1: are questions there and they haven't played anybody yet. And
- 3:08Speaker 1: I understand all that. I think Florida is, I don't
- 3:12Speaker 1: trust Auburn having enough talent to beat this Florida team.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I just think that they're Florida's too talented. And that's
- 3:20Speaker 1: kind of where I'm at with thinking about this game.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But do you want to tell me I'm, I'm right
- 3:24Speaker 1: or wrong on that?
- 3:26Speaker 3: No, I don't want to tell you you're wrong. I mean,
- 3:28Speaker 3: you know, the thing I would say is I do
- 3:33Speaker 3: think that what Auburn was able to keep on defense
- 3:35Speaker 3: was significant, and they've got some guys on that defense, right? Like,
- 3:41Speaker 3: they were– I know they lost some as well, but, like,
- 3:43Speaker 3: they kept Durkin. They do have, I think, some nice
- 3:47Speaker 3: pieces in that front seven, like, the way that some
- 3:51Speaker 3: of those linebackers play, what we saw with Eric Winters
- 3:55Speaker 3: obviously in that Baylor game. We talked about him before
- 3:58Speaker 3: that game. I do think that DJ Durkin has shown
- 4:04Speaker 3: that he's a high-level SEC defensive coordinator. There is a
- 4:08Speaker 3: subplot here, honestly, with the defensive coordinators that has given
- 4:13Speaker 3: me a little bit of pause on just rolling with Florida,
- 4:16Speaker 3: and that is Brad White, the Kentucky defensive coordinator that
- 4:21Speaker 3: Some are all hired to Florida. Like, he really, really
- 4:26Speaker 3: struggled against Tennessee offenses when he was at Kentucky. I mean,
- 4:34Speaker 3: just struggled a little bit. Like, there were some 40-point-plus outfit. Like,
- 4:42Speaker 3: this was a long run of Tennessee putting up. So,
- 4:48Speaker 3: they put up 56– in Lexington last year, 28 and 2024,
- 4:54Speaker 3: not that bad. 33 and 23, like going, I mean,
- 4:59Speaker 3: there's been a lot of it. And so I, I
- 5:03Speaker 3: do wonder about his ability to deal with the, the, the,
- 5:10Speaker 3: the pace and space and, and, you know, whatever you
- 5:13Speaker 3: want to call it, the blur, the Baylor offense that
- 5:16Speaker 3: bullish comes from, you know, he's, I mean, he's in
- 5:19Speaker 3: that high tree and, And he is running that at Auburn. Like,
- 5:22Speaker 3: make no mistake, that is what they run with Byron Brown.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And they will space Florida out. The question, you know,
- 5:29Speaker 3: to me comes down to, like, can Auburn's offensive line
- 5:34Speaker 3: hold up better in this game than they did against Baylor? Which,
- 5:40Speaker 3: you know, when I'm saying that, it feels like it
- 5:44Speaker 3: might be a problem, right? But I do– think that
- 5:49Speaker 3: there is like a huge coordinator advantage between.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Hey guys, I'll get right back to chatting with Graham.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But first I want to tell you about our friends
- 5:58Speaker 1: over at price picks right now on the price picks app,
- 6:01Speaker 1: all new users who play a $ 5 lineup and win
- 6:04Speaker 1: using code H you may get 150 in lineups instantly.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I am taking the more on Malachi Tony's passing yards.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm taking the more on Trinidad to go out there
- 6:14Speaker 1: and get me a passing touchdown.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I just need one. I know LSU's defense is good.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Taking the more on that.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm taking the more on Malachi at 69 and a
- 6:22Speaker 1: half receiving yards. Make sure that you are on the
- 6:26Speaker 1: price picks app. Again, all new users use code HMA,
- 6:28Speaker 1: play $ 5, get $ 150 in lineups. If you win now
- 6:31Speaker 1: back to Graham.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I guess goalish or, you know, the Auburn offensive side
- 6:35Speaker 3: of the ball and the Florida defensive side of the ball.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But I also love Buster Faulkner, huge Buster Faulkner guy,
- 6:42Speaker 3: big believer in Buster Faulkner. So it's it's kind of
- 6:46Speaker 3: an interesting world because like Durkin comes from sort of
- 6:51Speaker 3: that must champ tree. Right. Defensively. And like Faulkner knows
- 6:55Speaker 3: that his experience that he's been around it. And there's
- 6:59Speaker 3: there's an opportunity there maybe for for some interesting chess match.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Talk about the Florida defense up against the Auburn offense and, and,
- 7:12Speaker 1: you know, Gullish is, you know, run in space and tempo.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I know it's so hard to evaluate week one and
- 7:19Speaker 1: the more data points we get, the better idea we'll
- 7:21Speaker 1: get about these teams. Do you feel like Auburn has
- 7:25Speaker 1: enough offensively against Florida's defense? Like, you know, I, I,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I don't want to discredit Baylor fully, but I don't
- 7:32Speaker 1: know that Baylor is like a top defense in the
- 7:35Speaker 1: big 12 and.
- 7:36Speaker 2: And Auburn didn't look super sharp there.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So I guess the question then becomes, all right, we
- 7:42Speaker 1: trust goalish and we trust that offense, but do they have.
- 7:44Speaker 2: The horses to burn Florida enough?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Because I do, I think Florida can put up 24,
- 7:51Speaker 1: 28 points in this game because of Faulkner, because of
- 7:55Speaker 1: what they've got out at wide receiver, because Jaden ball
- 7:57Speaker 1: might be the best back in the league.
- 7:58Speaker 2: All those things. I feel good about Florida's offense.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I wonder if Auburn, even if they do have a
- 8:03Speaker 1: good plan offensively, do they have the horses that can
- 8:06Speaker 1: get the job done?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Get you across the goal line, I guess.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I mean, that's the question, right? Like, uh, at the
- 8:12Speaker 3: receiver position, you know, I mean, Singleton's done some nice
- 8:16Speaker 3: things this year, but yeah, you're talking Nimrod and some
- 8:20Speaker 3: of these guys that came over, uh, I guess the
- 8:24Speaker 3: counter to that would be they had enough horses to
- 8:27Speaker 3: get it done against Florida at USF last year, even
- 8:30Speaker 3: though that was a very defensive struggle football game. To me,
- 8:34Speaker 3: that's probably what it needs to be again for Auburn
- 8:37Speaker 3: is lower scoring. If this gets out of the low 20s,
- 8:42Speaker 3: you're probably in trouble and you need to hope that
- 8:46Speaker 3: Byron Brown is a willing runner who has a big
- 8:48Speaker 3: day with his legs. I think that is what I
- 8:52Speaker 3: would like to see Auburn do is, is like really
- 8:56Speaker 3: lean hard into incorporating some of those, those kinds of
- 9:00Speaker 3: read option run game principles off of this space and
- 9:04Speaker 3: hope that, hope that your tackles can, can block down
- 9:08Speaker 3: on Florida's edges at times and let Byron Brown slip
- 9:11Speaker 3: out the back door for some big gains. And I
- 9:13Speaker 3: do think Jeremiah Cobb is a really good running back.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I've always thought that like when you talk about horses and, he's,
- 9:20Speaker 3: he's a real one, you know, like he is a
- 9:23Speaker 3: sec caliber skill player for certain, but I, I don't know.
- 9:29Speaker 3: They certainly do not have the firepower that like Florida
- 9:33Speaker 3: has at wide receiver. And I'm very interested to see
- 9:36Speaker 3: how Auburn's offensive line holds up in this game.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Who has the Auburn's defense?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Do you feel like this is a game that you,
- 9:47Speaker 1: obviously every offense wants to be balanced, right? But if
- 9:50Speaker 1: you're trying to stop Florida, are you, certainly your strategy
- 9:54Speaker 1: would be to make Aaron Philo beat you in his
- 9:57Speaker 1: first big time road start. Because if your strategy is
- 9:59Speaker 1: like make J. Bob beat you, I think Florida is
- 10:01Speaker 1: like deal boys. Like we will we will lean on
- 10:04Speaker 1: that guy and go to town. I mean, they've got
- 10:07Speaker 1: great weapons, so that is scary. It's kind of pick
- 10:09Speaker 1: your poison. But certainly the thought would be, OK, let's
- 10:14Speaker 1: hope that Philo was just really good at home against
- 10:16Speaker 1: bad competition and he can't bring it like that on
- 10:18Speaker 1: the road in the SEC.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think that is the hope for sure.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I like Philo. I'm not totally there yet with him
- 10:31Speaker 3: doing big boy shit on the road under duress. I'm
- 10:34Speaker 3: not sure that Auburn is going to be the proper
- 10:37Speaker 3: test of that either. But my vibe on this is
- 10:45Speaker 3: that he's pretty good. And there's a obviously a trust
- 10:50Speaker 3: there that exists between Faulkner and Philo and, and they've
- 10:53Speaker 3: come over together from Georgia Tech. But I am interested,
- 10:57Speaker 3: like just, we haven't seen, like what I can tell
- 11:01Speaker 3: you about Auburn is they got into a close game
- 11:04Speaker 3: and there were things that went wrong. They did not
- 11:06Speaker 3: look great. The offense struggled at times, but they pulled
- 11:09Speaker 3: it out in the end and they won the football game.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And like, we have not seen Florida play any competition
- 11:14Speaker 3: with a pulse yet. So, what are they really? I
- 11:18Speaker 3: don't know, but like, they're not going to roll off 9.79
- 11:21Speaker 3: yards of play like they have so far this year. Right.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Like there's, that's probably not going to happen. So yeah,
- 11:29Speaker 3: I mean, I, their average third down distances and stuff
- 11:34Speaker 3: like that, like is, is so skewed out of whack,
- 11:37Speaker 3: but I can tell you, you know, one thing that
- 11:39Speaker 3: was interesting about that Auburn defense, um, that could be
- 11:45Speaker 3: informative and helpful in this game is they, they so
- 11:51Speaker 3: far this year are averaging over like 10 yards on
- 11:55Speaker 3: third down. Like if they can get you to third down,
- 11:57Speaker 3: they are usually stuffing teams and kind of forcing them to,
- 12:01Speaker 3: to make throws downfield. And that's what you need to
- 12:05Speaker 3: do in this game, right? Is like force Philo to,
- 12:08Speaker 3: to live throwing past the sticks and, force him to
- 12:12Speaker 3: live with some, some real pass rush in his face
- 12:14Speaker 3: where you're pinning your ears back on third and long
- 12:17Speaker 3: and hope that he can maybe throw you one and
- 12:20Speaker 3: hope that your pass rush is able to penetrate enough
- 12:23Speaker 3: to not allow him to sit back there. But if
- 12:27Speaker 3: you are playing a Faulkner offense and you're stuck in
- 12:32Speaker 3: the loop of like mesh and, and just like little
- 12:35Speaker 3: underneath routes and, and dealing with the run after the
- 12:38Speaker 3: catch stuff or like the, the, long drag routes that
- 12:42Speaker 3: would that'll he'll run where that you like runs everybody
- 12:46Speaker 3: out of the play in one direction and run someone
- 12:48Speaker 3: back across the grain of the formation if you're dealing
- 12:51Speaker 3: with that against them man like it's going to be
- 12:53Speaker 3: a long night you've got to be able to stop
- 12:57Speaker 3: the run and then you got to stop jayden ball
- 13:00Speaker 3: to do that so good luck there i guess i
- 13:02Speaker 3: mean like i don't know the more we talk about
- 13:04Speaker 3: this the more i feel like i'm i'm leading florida in.
- 13:07Speaker 1: This matchup Yeah, well, let's do it. Florida, a two
- 13:11Speaker 1: and a half, three point favorite on the road at Auburn.
- 13:14Speaker 1: You know, it's funny because that's the same spread as
- 13:16Speaker 1: Ole Miss and LSU. I've had a rule for a
- 13:18Speaker 1: long time that if a team is a three or
- 13:21Speaker 1: less favorite at home, you always take them. Like you
- 13:26Speaker 1: just like that. There's no, I haven't like studied, like
- 13:29Speaker 1: I haven't looked over it. Just think there's really good
- 13:32Speaker 1: value in that. Like just getting a team that they're saying, hey,
- 13:35Speaker 1: this is within a coin flip, right?
- 13:37Speaker 2: Three points.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And they get that home crowd. Now Vegas is making
- 13:40Speaker 1: that into, they're not stupid. That's just always been my role.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And I've, it's paid off for me more often than
- 13:45Speaker 1: it's not saying that I'm taking the road team in
- 13:47Speaker 1: this one too.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I think Florida wins and covers.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm breaking my own rule for the second time today,
- 13:52Speaker 1: because I took LSU as well. Go check that video out.
- 13:54Speaker 1: If you haven't already, I will take Florida to win.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I think they win. I do think this is lower scoring,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but I just, I need to see more from Auburn's
- 14:04Speaker 1: offense to, to have the faith. So, 24, 17, 21, 17,
- 14:11Speaker 1: somewhere in there.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Maybe, you know, maybe it's even closer than that.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think this is a grinded out game, but I just,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I trust Florida's talent a little bit more. You said
- 14:20Speaker 1: this in our last one, good offense. A lot of
- 14:22Speaker 1: times beats good defense, especially in a one-off. So I'll
- 14:26Speaker 1: take the team that I think has the better offense
- 14:29Speaker 1: team that I think has the better offensive coordinator, better
- 14:33Speaker 1: quarterback too. I'm not like fully bought in on Philo,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but like for a straight quarterback, not that, Brown can't
- 14:38Speaker 1: do things with his legs. I, again, better running back,
- 14:40Speaker 1: better wide receiver. Like I, I look at every, every
- 14:44Speaker 1: spot offensive line maybe is the question, but really probably
- 14:46Speaker 1: for both teams. So yeah, I think I'm leaning Florida here.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I just think their offense is going to be too much.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I can see Florida getting up to like 24, 28 or,
- 14:54Speaker 1: or more if things kind of snowball, but yeah, 24, 17,
- 14:57Speaker 1: somewhere in that range.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Give me the Gators. I, I, I'm.
- 15:04Speaker 3: On the Florida two and a half just because I, the,
- 15:07Speaker 3: The tape and the analysis that is available to me
- 15:09Speaker 3: to do tells me that Florida minus two and a
- 15:12Speaker 3: half is the right thing. My life experience as a
- 15:15Speaker 3: child with the SST and everything that I know about
- 15:19Speaker 3: dirt and hair and all that. And the times I've
- 15:21Speaker 3: been over there certainly does not. I mean, if your
- 15:25Speaker 3: rule about the home dog of three points, great rule.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I love that. Like I'm, I'm very much a fan
- 15:32Speaker 3: of it. I'm not going to go there. although I
- 15:37Speaker 3: will say like we have seen Auburn get into a
- 15:39Speaker 3: close game and make plays. And I don't think that
- 15:42Speaker 3: Florida is coming in there and blowing them out. That
- 15:44Speaker 3: would surprise me. I Auburn, both these teams will play hard.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I really liked the under in this game of 53
- 15:50Speaker 3: and a half, even with Faulkner involved. I think that
- 15:55Speaker 3: both these teams are going to try to run the
- 15:56Speaker 3: football a lot as they should with Jaden ball and
- 16:00Speaker 3: Byron Brown, Jeremiah Cobb on the other side. So yeah, Yeah,
- 16:05Speaker 3: I think that this will be kind of one of
- 16:06Speaker 3: those shortened games, and it'll come down to someone making
- 16:11Speaker 3: a play in the last 15 minutes. I'll go Florida
- 16:15Speaker 3: minus two and a half, because if there's a world
- 16:18Speaker 3: where one of these teams is going to win by
- 16:20Speaker 3: like 13 or something, I think that's certainly going to
- 16:23Speaker 3: be Florida. I don't see a world where Auburn's going
- 16:25Speaker 3: to walk them out of the stadium early, but I–
- 16:31Speaker 3: I will not bet this game with my own money.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I'll tell you that I will bet this under, but
- 16:36Speaker 3: I will not, I will not bet either side in
- 16:38Speaker 3: this game. Whatever.
- 16:40Speaker 1: If Auburn, if I could have a dream scenario, it
- 16:43Speaker 1: would be for Auburn to take the opening kickback. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: then I get plus money, plus money on the Gators.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 1: With like 18 seconds, you know, 13 seconds off the
- 16:53Speaker 1: clock or whatever it's going to be, you know, like
- 16:55Speaker 1: that is like, this is not gambling advice, but it is.
- 16:59Speaker 1: if you can get the Gators at plus money at
- 17:00Speaker 1: any point in this game, I mean, outside of like
- 17:02Speaker 1: down 14 in the fourth quarter.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I that's, that's value I would take if it's within
- 17:06Speaker 2: one score. I like, I kind of like that.
- 17:08Speaker 1: So obviously we can't predict that, but if Florida would
- 17:11Speaker 1: like to give up a kick return touchdown to start
- 17:13Speaker 1: the game, I'd be thrilled with that.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Cause I'll take the Gators plus money at any point.
