- 0:09Speaker 1: He's arrived direct from Portugal.
- 0:15Speaker 2: On some sort of human trafficking, drug smuggling expedition, has
- 0:24Speaker 2: come back to motherland.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Did you visit your many children?
- 0:29Speaker 3: I don't have any in Portugal that I'm aware of.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Well, we're using that language now that we're back in Australia.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I did have lots of Portuguese tarts though, Oh what
- 0:39Speaker 3: about the food? They were delicious?
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah, there they were, right. So you went to a
- 0:52Speaker 1: third world country to see a masda. That is the
- 0:57Speaker 1: most ridiculous. Can you just fess up that your money
- 1:03Speaker 1: comes from bags of powder? Look?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Okay, So I've got a very mention, very briefly mentioned
- 1:11Speaker 4: the car so mas to see sixty it's coming to Australia.
- 1:15Speaker 4: It's like a bigger version of the six five. We drove,
- 1:18Speaker 4: the plug in hybrid version. Now, the reason they chose Portugal.
- 1:22Speaker 3: This is just I'm getting.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Boring. This is getting boring and unnecessary.
- 1:38Speaker 4: So the reason they chose Portugal, because you asked, is
- 1:41Speaker 4: because it's cheap. It's like the Bali of Europe. So
- 1:44Speaker 4: you can go there to a nice hotel. The weather's
- 1:46Speaker 4: generally good and the roads are generally good.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So that is why and the car is not too.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Bad, so are we allowed to say that?
- 1:55Speaker 4: Yes, well, you can go to our YouTube channel or
- 1:58Speaker 4: the Car Expert website to have a look at the
- 1:59Speaker 4: review of the six sixty. But yeah, plug in hybrids
- 2:02Speaker 4: driving range of about sixty k's punchy little thing coming
- 2:07Speaker 4: to Also, they're bringing a diesel six cylinder and a
- 2:11Speaker 4: petrol six cylinder to Australia.
- 2:13Speaker 3: It's three will drip so I'm excited for tho. So yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 3: it'll be here later this year.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So now, two things I want to talk to about.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I mean, you don't do yourself any favors as an engineer. Jeez,
- 2:27Speaker 1: the marble being in the efidy house as an engineer,
- 2:31Speaker 1: this is amazing, Like that is cool to tell your
- 2:36Speaker 1: EV council, But dude, what are you doing?
- 2:43Speaker 4: I think the difference is I have smart people following me,
- 2:45Speaker 4: so they tend to find an interesting One.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Other thing, I will say, you really did travel like
- 2:57Speaker 1: an engineer abroad?
- 3:00Speaker 3: Is wrong with my style. There's some trendy shorts. Apolo,
- 3:04Speaker 3: I look smart.
- 3:06Speaker 1: She said. The contouring of that shadow doesn't do you
- 3:09Speaker 1: any favors.
- 3:10Speaker 3: The sun was at one pm.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I want to say if you need to join TikTok
- 3:16Speaker 1: because you have a fantastic rack. Good to have you back.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yes, anyway, it's nice to be in a slightly different studio.
- 3:30Speaker 3: We're in Sydney today and this is your studio.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah, when are they finishing it? It's basically a public toilet.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's always it's always fire. Now that is on the roof.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You're referring to this weird brown, mysterious patch. It strangely
- 3:46Speaker 1: looks like the polo shirt. You're more Portugal, but that,
- 3:51Speaker 1: my friend, would be possum urine.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Oh that old chan. I'm going to take a picture
- 3:56Speaker 3: of that.
- 3:56Speaker 4: We'll put it on the Drive show social media because
- 4:00Speaker 4: that is disturbing.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you for shooting on my studio. Something I
- 4:03Speaker 1: really I saw that was really cool. That wasn't on
- 4:06Speaker 1: your Instagram. Something really cool is this kind of Brabus
- 4:09Speaker 1: rally concept which is sort of based on the g Wagon,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the am G sixty three, and for one point three
- 4:16Speaker 1: million dollars you can get a car, you can get
- 4:20Speaker 1: a rollcage that goes from zero to one hundred and
- 4:23Speaker 1: three point four seconds on a sand dune.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Isn't it ridiculous? So the Brabus crawler. It has no windscreens.
- 4:28Speaker 4: You have to wear goggles while you're driving it on
- 4:30Speaker 4: your sand dunes. It has no windows, no doors, but
- 4:34Speaker 4: it does have a big old four point five litter
- 4:36Speaker 4: twin turbov eight. It makes six hundred and sixty two
- 4:41Speaker 4: kilowatts of power and twelve.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Hundred and fifty meters of talk.
- 4:45Speaker 4: It's it's absolutely insane, and like you said, it's like
- 4:48Speaker 4: one point three million dollars so, and it's like made
- 4:50Speaker 4: entirely out of carbon as well.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Do you think this car has baby Iso fixed points? Yeah?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Because it should be shine now. Yeah, I can see
- 4:59Speaker 3: a top ten. Good.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Good. There is back seats. There is room for two
- 5:04Speaker 1: in the back.
- 5:05Speaker 4: So you can actually have friends in there. The thing
- 5:08Speaker 4: that is completely unrealistic about this, unfortunately, is that when
- 5:11Speaker 4: you do go sand driving, you are going to have
- 5:14Speaker 4: sand in every single hole that ever existed in this car.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And I remember once we were in.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Dubai for the launch of a Maserati Levante suv and
- 5:23Speaker 4: they took a sand dune driving even though the cars
- 5:26Speaker 4: were closed the entire time. The gearstick was one of
- 5:29Speaker 4: those ones that it's like your stinger that goes back
- 5:32Speaker 4: to the original position. Yeah, and it would crunch because
- 5:35Speaker 4: sand got inside it, even though the doors were never
- 5:38Speaker 4: opened in the car sheese, I can imagine this that
- 5:42Speaker 4: actually has no doors or windows, a plus a spoiler
- 5:44Speaker 4: on the back and these like huge driving lights as well.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So your head to the Car Expert website and just
- 5:50Speaker 4: look for Brabbas Crawler to see a picture of this.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It is absolutely stupid.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I really love the fact that the images they've used,
- 5:56Speaker 1: which is clearly filmed in Dubai or something. Literally there's
- 6:00Speaker 1: a camel in front of that guy's line of sight.
- 6:03Speaker 3: See, this is the thing.
- 6:04Speaker 4: This car is just a UAE special like this would be. Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 4: they will eat this alive in the in the UAE.
- 6:12Speaker 4: I think it will. Just it will be hilarious to
- 6:14Speaker 4: see one of these in real life.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I have a friend of mine over there and he
- 6:18Speaker 1: was no tell us about that time. Let's talk about
- 6:24Speaker 1: her off air. She's on the show next way. So yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 1: I've got a friend of her over there and he
- 6:32Speaker 1: was m seeing an event where they were selling off
- 6:34Speaker 1: number plates. Yes right, and one of them was like
- 6:38Speaker 1: a six Yeah right. I don't I don't think that
- 6:42Speaker 1: means much to us, And I think it basically was
- 6:45Speaker 1: developed over there to be like a specialty number plate,
- 6:48Speaker 1: and it went up for something like thirty million dollars.
- 6:52Speaker 1: There's some dude just sitting sitting at a table in
- 6:56Speaker 1: you know, the full sort of head to toe kind
- 6:59Speaker 1: of out fit, the scarf, what do you call it?
- 7:02Speaker 3: Careful?
- 7:02Speaker 1: What do they call it? I'm not big, a big honest,
- 7:04Speaker 1: some big serious. He was in the full shit of
- 7:06Speaker 1: yeah it was a sheet. He's going to get up
- 7:08Speaker 1: and simmy shake the shimmy, shimmy, shimmy shake shack, wearing sunglasses.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I am a respectful personation anyway. But number plates are big.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I remember going to an auction here that I think
- 7:23Speaker 4: Shannon's was running on behalf of the Victorian government, and
- 7:27Speaker 4: it was all Asian kids, like they were eighteen to
- 7:30Speaker 4: twenty two year olds buying number plates, and one dude
- 7:34Speaker 4: bought it was in like twenty nineteen or something. He
- 7:37Speaker 4: bought the number plate twenty nineteen on a heritage plate
- 7:40Speaker 4: and got into a bidding war with this kid who
- 7:42Speaker 4: looked like he was sixteen, and it went up like
- 7:44Speaker 4: half a million dollars and he bought it because he
- 7:47Speaker 4: had a pram with him and it was obviously for
- 7:49Speaker 4: the kid that was born that year. He wanted them
- 7:51Speaker 4: to have a registration plate. So obviously the other kid's like, well,
- 7:55Speaker 4: I'm just going to start a bidding war with you
- 7:56Speaker 4: because I can see how desperate you are.
- 7:58Speaker 3: This is the only number plates that's going to work
- 7:59Speaker 3: for you.
- 8:00Speaker 1: That's amazing, just crazy and went for what half a mil?
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Did he win?
- 8:04Speaker 3: The guy with the prim did yet?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, just to celebrate, he did a bit of a
- 8:08Speaker 1: dance dance revolution and logged onto Pokemon Go. So yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 1: that is a crazy car. I really like it though.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I think it's a one point three mil. Talk about
- 8:18Speaker 1: the cup and faber, Wow, that's insane. What else are
- 8:23Speaker 1: we looking at? Oh my god? The jeep jeep. Do
- 8:25Speaker 1: you know when you just have that friend that you
- 8:28Speaker 1: want them to succeed so badly you've grown up with them,
- 8:32Speaker 1: but they're just a constant cup. I should rephrase that
- 8:38Speaker 1: a total cup. You want them to succeed, You just
- 8:42Speaker 1: want them to be better, You just want them to
- 8:44Speaker 1: do better.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 4: So they've launched the Grand Cherokee in Australia with one
- 8:51Speaker 4: petrol V six engine and as a result of that,
- 8:56Speaker 4: it toes barely anything.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you won't be putting a caravan.
- 9:00Speaker 4: So two point two tons in one spec and up
- 9:03Speaker 4: to two point eight tons, I mean, that's planet of
- 9:08Speaker 4: these guys on even like the entry level ute based
- 9:14Speaker 4: SUVs all to at least three tons, up to three
- 9:16Speaker 4: and a half. Now, even if this did have a
- 9:19Speaker 4: towing capacity of three and a half tons, a petrol
- 9:21Speaker 4: V six isn't going to move its hefty girth.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Plus a plus a trailer. Yeah, so they don't do
- 9:29Speaker 3: it diesel at all.
- 9:29Speaker 4: So globally they do a V eight petrel in the States,
- 9:32Speaker 4: which we don't get here they are working on a
- 9:34Speaker 4: turbov six petrel as well, but I mean, I just
- 9:37Speaker 4: don't get how they do that. And one of these
- 9:39Speaker 4: I'm looking that price one of them was like one
- 9:40Speaker 4: hundred and twenty thousand dollars.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I mean, hello, have they read the room?
- 9:45Speaker 4: And the best bit was they they were quoted as
- 9:48Speaker 4: saying that, So this was in reference to diesel customers.
- 9:52Speaker 4: They have to reconsider what they need. It's like, how
- 9:56Speaker 4: about you just build what they need, which is a
- 9:59Speaker 4: diesel to toe stuff like the old one did.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Perhaps it's a car that they no longer really care
- 10:05Speaker 1: about people towing stuff with that. That could be what
- 10:08Speaker 1: they want for it.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but they may not care, but the customers do
- 10:11Speaker 4: because a lot of people bought the old ones that
- 10:12Speaker 4: had a three and a half time towing capacity, It
- 10:14Speaker 4: had air suspension, it would go off road, it was versatile. Yeah,
- 10:17Speaker 4: now you can't toe with it, and the petrol engine
- 10:21Speaker 4: is much slower and it just doesn't suit a vehicle
- 10:25Speaker 4: this size.
- 10:26Speaker 3: So it is very troubling. I just don't understand where
- 10:29Speaker 3: they're going with this.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Perhaps they just want to appeal to the soccer mom.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Well maybe Yeah, potentially people who.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Just don't care and don't know what they're buying. Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 4: that's just going to narrow that.
- 10:39Speaker 1: The development of a bigger engine or keeping an engine
- 10:42Speaker 1: going like that, that'd be expensive.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Right, I think so.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean I'm not encountered, but you're an engineer.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I dress like one.
- 10:49Speaker 1: All right. Now, there's a mystery car you want to
- 10:51Speaker 1: show me.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Now, I just for a bit of context before you
- 10:54Speaker 3: click on this link.
- 10:56Speaker 1: William will I am from the Black Eyed Peaks.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Yes, that guy, he somehow convinced Mercedes Beans to produce
- 11:03Speaker 4: a bespoke vehicle just for him. Now, we're going to
- 11:06Speaker 4: make fun of the car, but we're not going to
- 11:07Speaker 4: make fun of the reason the car exists, which is
- 11:09Speaker 4: to support his charity.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Which is fine. But click on the link for me.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Okay, So we're going to see this.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Wow, that's the wow.
- 11:20Speaker 4: It's got like a little teddy Bear instead of a
- 11:22Speaker 4: Mercedes logo, it's got like the front of a G
- 11:26Speaker 4: wagon and the rear of a CLS or.
- 11:29Speaker 3: GT four door. I just I don't know what to say.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Oh, I love it.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh of course you do. You would love the shit
- 11:38Speaker 3: out of this that this is the demographic.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I love it.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Mind people, I love it.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I just roll up to your house and do something
- 11:46Speaker 1: and Knoxious out the front where they.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Like sing his songs. God, it is a shocker.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that is. That is something pretty special. They've used
- 11:55Speaker 1: the Mercedes logo and blended it into a Teddy Bear's
- 11:58Speaker 1: face to kind of make it look like the mouth
- 12:01Speaker 1: and that just.
- 12:02Speaker 3: And they've called it the will I a MG. So
- 12:06Speaker 3: it's a play on words.
- 12:07Speaker 1: There is there any interior shots? Oh wow, this sort
- 12:09Speaker 1: of jeez. It's pretty plain on the inside, isn't It's
- 12:12Speaker 1: very stuff.
- 12:12Speaker 4: They've just kept it very but yeah, it's got the
- 12:15Speaker 4: suicide doors.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Which is irony is I think you're going to need
- 12:19Speaker 1: more than a door.
- 12:21Speaker 4: God, it is shocking. I don't mind the wheels, but
- 12:23Speaker 4: the rest is absolutely heinous.
- 12:25Speaker 1: What are you kind of a side vents?
- 12:28Speaker 3: Just no, everything else is no.
- 12:30Speaker 1: It's kind of got the front of a g wagon almost. Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 1: so yes, oh god, those doors.
- 12:37Speaker 4: It is shocking. So anyway, yeah, I have a look
- 12:39Speaker 4: at our social media to see what this looks like.
- 12:42Speaker 3: It is. It is genuinely tragic. It is genuinely tragic.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That is the most tragic thing to happen to the
- 12:48Speaker 1: black eyed peace sense. Fergie Paul doesn't know who that is.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You didn't even know who, bloody, who are you talking
- 12:54Speaker 1: about the other day? And you didn't know like Johnny
- 12:56Speaker 1: Cash or someone?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Know who was that person that got banned from that Young?
- 13:00Speaker 1: You've never heard of Neil Young, You've never heard of
- 13:02Speaker 1: the Harvest album.
- 13:04Speaker 3: The Harvest album sounds like something you'll find it.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Wooly's welcome to Welcome to the Queen Victoria about here's
- 13:14Speaker 1: the Harvest section the bmw IX three. I spend a
- 13:20Speaker 1: little bit of time with this. Should we talk about it.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Yeah, let's the snazzy and stylist BMW I X three
- 13:28Speaker 5: is priced at one hundred and fourteen nine hundred dollars,
- 13:31Speaker 5: which includes the msport pack. I think it looks pretty great.
- 13:35Speaker 5: What did the boys think?
- 13:38Speaker 3: You don't sound impressed. I'm concerned.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Let's start this by saying this is correct me if
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'm wrong. The X three is one of the best
- 13:45Speaker 1: selling BMW's out there. Right, so they're pretty much taken
- 13:50Speaker 1: an X three. They've taken the engine and put in
- 13:54Speaker 1: an electric motor and put some nice little blue bits
- 13:59Speaker 1: and pieces. Yeah, and that's their electric car.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Yes, this is what we in the industry call a
- 14:06Speaker 4: compliance EV. Right, It's an EV that exists because they
- 14:09Speaker 4: had to do it, not because they wanted to do it.
- 14:12Speaker 3: But I do have hope for them because if you have.
- 14:15Speaker 4: A look at the IX that was ground up effectively
- 14:19Speaker 4: an EV. Yeah, so they went to a lot of
- 14:21Speaker 4: effort there. Yes, this I think is a temporary solution.
- 14:24Speaker 4: I thought, I'm hoping that the next one is more everything.
- 14:27Speaker 4: But also, this doesn't look like an EX which I
- 14:30Speaker 4: also like because it means you can have a vehicle.
- 14:32Speaker 3: That looks like an X three yes, that is electric.
- 14:35Speaker 4: You can also get it without all the blue shit
- 14:37Speaker 4: on it, so you can just have a normal looking
- 14:39Speaker 4: X three.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Can I tell you my first impressions? So jumping into
- 14:42Speaker 1: this car right literally picked it up from BMW, and
- 14:46Speaker 1: it had been a while since I've jumped in a Beama,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and there is like, whether you want to admit it
- 14:50Speaker 1: or not, this quirks to a Beama. Yep, right, things
- 14:53Speaker 1: like reverse park, the button on that whatever, It's just
- 14:56Speaker 1: a bit. So I was a bit kind of right
- 14:59Speaker 1: right finding my feet. There was a bunch of BMW
- 15:02Speaker 1: execs out the front there to meet me. There was
- 15:05Speaker 1: about ten people and it was awkward as all. Hell,
- 15:09Speaker 1: oh god, Yeah, they put on a bit there. I'll
- 15:12Speaker 1: tell you one thing. They've got bloody good customer service
- 15:15Speaker 1: at BMW. Yes, really good.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Did you go to that new dealership they've built that
- 15:20Speaker 3: is insane?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yes, it is huge, it's really good, and I think
- 15:24Speaker 1: Mercedes aren't technically part of it, but they're there. Yep,
- 15:27Speaker 1: mining's obviously there. It's a stunning showroom. It's really something special,
- 15:32Speaker 1: to the point where when I went to return the car,
- 15:35Speaker 1: I got kicked out of the showroom. Why because I
- 15:38Speaker 1: was just like lurking. I was walking around looking at
- 15:40Speaker 1: all the pretty things, and I saw up above there's
- 15:44Speaker 1: a separate level, like with all these what looks like
- 15:47Speaker 1: cars on display, and I'm like, I want to go
- 15:49Speaker 1: check out that. And this lovely lady who I thought
- 15:52Speaker 1: was going to ask me out, unfortunately asked me to leave.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Ask you out vision in bed? Does she have a
- 15:58Speaker 3: guide dog? Get out?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Sick of you're shit? I picked you up from the airport.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I see a bloody you.
- 16:06Speaker 3: The driver.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Two stars for you. By the way, It's interesting jumping
- 16:11Speaker 1: in a car like this because it feels like I
- 16:16Speaker 1: just didn't belong. It felt like I was hanging out
- 16:19Speaker 1: with corporate suit types. Really boring, and it's very German.
- 16:23Speaker 1: When you hop in like it's very like, this is
- 16:26Speaker 1: how you're drive, sit up straight, you'll this is how
- 16:30Speaker 1: firm the car is. Deal with it like, it's very
- 16:34Speaker 1: it's very straight. The seating position, everything's just a bit
- 16:38Speaker 1: kind of stern and this is what you're doing. It's
- 16:43Speaker 1: TechEd out really well. The parking in this is probably
- 16:48Speaker 1: some of the best I've seen.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Yeah, so they actually have a cool feature. I don't
- 16:52Speaker 4: think anyone else does. This. It's called the Reverse Assistant,
- 16:55Speaker 4: and what it does is it remembers the last fifty
- 16:57Speaker 4: meters of driving when you park.
- 17:00Speaker 3: So if you go down like a narrow one way.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Street and you're like, fuck, I'm not going to make
- 17:04Speaker 4: it out of here, I need a reverse, you hit
- 17:06Speaker 4: the reverse Assistant and it will guide you with precision
- 17:10Speaker 4: accuracy fifty meters back the exact same path that you went.
- 17:14Speaker 4: So didn't you hit anything on your way in, You're
- 17:15Speaker 4: not going to hit it on the way out. So
- 17:17Speaker 4: it's actually a pretty cool Features seven. I think they
- 17:21Speaker 4: took a bit of a backward step in terms of
- 17:22Speaker 4: OYE drive than you OS eight is much better, But yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 4: I think that I think they've done a really good
- 17:28Speaker 4: job with it. And from an interior and tech point
- 17:32Speaker 4: of view, I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it.
- 17:34Speaker 4: I think it felt very much like a compliance ev.
- 17:37Speaker 3: It's real will drive.
- 17:38Speaker 4: It's sort of not overly punchy, and you know, kind
- 17:42Speaker 4: of can't because it's real will drive.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But yeah, the design is conservative, to say it the least. Yes,
- 17:51Speaker 1: there's nothing really offensive or abrasive about it. The blue
- 17:56Speaker 1: kind of highlights. They're not for everybody. Clearly. I quite
- 17:59Speaker 1: like it. I think it's cool, stands out. It's got
- 18:01Speaker 1: the weird kind of plastic what do you call them panels, yes,
- 18:06Speaker 1: on the front, which I mean if you weren't getting
- 18:09Speaker 1: this car in black and they were still black panels,
- 18:13Speaker 1: that would look odd.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I don't know what color they are. Are they body colored?
- 18:16Speaker 1: They look black and the car I had was black.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And yeah, I like the wheels on it. I'll tell
- 18:21Speaker 1: you what. Those big twenty years wheels are kind of
- 18:23Speaker 1: arrow design on them. I think is to that stays black.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I'm just having a look on the interweb now, and
- 18:29Speaker 4: regardless of which color you choose, it stays black.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Wow, yeah it's going to Okay, it looks like it's
- 18:33Speaker 1: wearing like wayfarers or something. But yeah, the wheels are
- 18:37Speaker 1: really cool. I think it's a fine car. Yes, it's smooth,
- 18:42Speaker 1: it's well balanced, it's got presence. It's the whole thing
- 18:46Speaker 1: like is very I don't know, cohesive. I guess it's
- 18:49Speaker 1: kind of everything kind of feels well put together.
- 18:52Speaker 4: So here's the issue I have. Okay, it's one hundred
- 18:55Speaker 4: and fourteen nine hundred for an extra four thousand dollars,
- 19:00Speaker 4: have the m forty I, which has the turbo six
- 19:03Speaker 4: cylinder petrol enginet and is smooth and sporty and fun.
- 19:07Speaker 4: So you'd have to really want to be an ev
- 19:10Speaker 4: fanatic to get this over the M forty I, because
- 19:13Speaker 4: I think that is a much more engaging and interesting car.
- 19:15Speaker 4: If you're gonna get a BMW, you want it to
- 19:17Speaker 4: be sporty. This isn't sporty.
- 19:19Speaker 1: It's a good drive, but there's nothing exciting about it.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It's just a conservative car.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Yep.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It's a guy in a business suit with a little
- 19:28Speaker 1: bit of dribble on his pants. I just I love it.
- 19:34Speaker 1: There's probably some old guy listening to this show going
- 19:37Speaker 1: bloody listen to this because I thought it was an automobile.
- 19:40Speaker 1: It's a deep recording, and he just compared it to
- 19:45Speaker 1: some bloke with a bit of dribble on his Trodish trousers.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I mean, this is a fencehip.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I'm surprised that anyone listens to this.
- 19:58Speaker 2: In my day, if I hundred opinion, I'd go on
- 20:02Speaker 2: the stepshift town Hall and you yelled through a newspaper.
- 20:13Speaker 3: I don't know, so suf fast to say you wouldn't
- 20:15Speaker 3: buy one.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean one fifteen before on road? What are
- 20:21Speaker 1: we looking on road? It'd have to be a round
- 20:23Speaker 1: about one hundred and twenty three thousand on road.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Here's the biggest issue they're going to have. The biggest
- 20:27Speaker 4: issue they're going to have is when Tesla launches the
- 20:30Speaker 4: Model Why because for one hundred and fifteen in Model Y,
- 20:34Speaker 4: that's going to get you an all wheel drive performance
- 20:36Speaker 4: version which will be infinitely quicker than this, probably have
- 20:40Speaker 4: more range, we'll have better charging, better tech.
- 20:43Speaker 1: The charging speed on this was pretty slow too.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I think Tesla is really going to upset a lot
- 20:48Speaker 4: of these German manufacturers when that car goes on sale here,
- 20:51Speaker 4: and it will actually be pretty cheap in Australia because
- 20:53Speaker 4: in Portugal the Model Why Performance, which I saw stacks
- 20:58Speaker 4: of over there, is like hundred and twenty grand.
- 21:01Speaker 3: It was really expensive.
- 21:02Speaker 4: So yeah, I think that when the Model Wire arrives
- 21:05Speaker 4: in Australia it's really going to shake up a lot
- 21:07Speaker 4: of this segment and really force them to reconsider their
- 21:10Speaker 4: price points.
- 21:11Speaker 1: By list or miss. I think if you're going to
- 21:18Speaker 1: list it, you're going to have to really you'd.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Have to love BMW. Yeah, you're going to have to.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Be brand loyal, because I think that's the only way
- 21:26Speaker 1: you'd want to get this across the line.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Yep, yeah, I think so as well. I'm sort of
- 21:29Speaker 4: in two minds about it. It was okay, but it
- 21:32Speaker 4: just really wasn't incredible.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So do we have any any questions from the house any.
- 21:38Speaker 3: I thought i'd mentioned something.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Oh, here we go. I feel like you've been sitting
- 21:42Speaker 1: on this because getting prepared for a zinger. Guys, he's
- 21:45Speaker 1: getting prepared, little chaft, he's got the smirk going on.
- 21:48Speaker 4: I'm into crypto and NFTs and she's yeah, I know.
- 21:53Speaker 4: He was one of the first companies to do an
- 21:55Speaker 4: NFT collection, and I've been following it closely and I
- 21:58Speaker 4: minted one of them.
- 22:00Speaker 1: It has been Does that mean you bought one? What
- 22:02Speaker 1: does that mean? I minted this? I minted an NF two.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I did buy it. It has been a shit show.
- 22:08Speaker 4: So normally what happens with these projects is they will
- 22:11Speaker 4: create ten thousand of these NFTs and each of them
- 22:15Speaker 4: will be unique, and some will be rareer than others.
- 22:18Speaker 4: And Hyunda was the first car company to come along
- 22:21Speaker 4: and go, hey, we're going to do this, here's our collection.
- 22:24Speaker 4: What happens then is you log into a discord server
- 22:27Speaker 4: and that's where you talk with the team and all
- 22:28Speaker 4: that sort of stuff. Now, being a Korean company, they
- 22:32Speaker 4: just didn't account for speaking in English with any great accuracy,
- 22:37Speaker 4: so all of the communication made no sense at all.
- 22:40Speaker 4: They then asked you to do all these stupid things
- 22:42Speaker 4: to get whitelisted for the projects so you could be
- 22:44Speaker 4: invited to buy something. And it went live today today,
- 22:48Speaker 4: the day being we record this, and of the ten
- 22:50Speaker 4: thousand items they listed and they had whitelisted like twenty.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Five thousand people, only two thousand sold. My point is,
- 23:02Speaker 3: if car companies want to get into the metaverse, they
- 23:07Speaker 3: need to do better.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Than y they just did with NFTs hasn't gone down
- 23:10Speaker 1: in terms of sales, like by ninety percent. I saw
- 23:13Speaker 1: some stat like the NSC market is just crashed now.
- 23:16Speaker 4: The whole crypto market is down at the moment, and
- 23:18Speaker 4: that causes flow on effects. But it's it's fine. It's
- 23:20Speaker 4: it's not that big of a deal.
- 23:22Speaker 1: That's what he's telling his wife. It's fine, life savings
- 23:26Speaker 1: are fine. I'm just waiting for Elon to tweet it's
- 23:28Speaker 1: good and we're good. We're good. We're good. I gotta go, Honey,
- 23:35Speaker 1: who do you find this music?
- 23:38Speaker 4: Truly from Skager from your iTunes collections? Now, speaking of feedback,
- 23:44Speaker 4: we get some email. I'm so out of touch at
- 23:46Speaker 4: the moment. Let me look at our at the moment rating. Okay,
- 23:51Speaker 4: we've got a new one here from FPV Boss three
- 23:55Speaker 4: point fifteen obviously likes a car, a decent car, absolute
- 23:59Speaker 4: blast of entertainment, awesome show. I think everyone listening to
- 24:03Speaker 4: this will end up buying a Tesla. Well here's a
- 24:05Speaker 4: good point, because I think you're thinking about it.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean at first I thought it was just
- 24:09Speaker 1: we were doing this because you're getting kickbacks from them,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and fortunately not, you're really not, which is kind of annoying.
- 24:15Speaker 1: But here's the thing. I think the state, I think
- 24:19Speaker 1: we're moving to electric quicker than anyone imagined. Yes, and
- 24:24Speaker 1: including myself. I think though at this point in time,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I know it's kind of a popular thing to say, like, oh,
- 24:32Speaker 1: I don't think this country is really rude for electric
- 24:35Speaker 1: cause because we're such a good country. But I just
- 24:39Speaker 1: think these charge fox people are just just throwing down
- 24:42Speaker 1: buckets of shit with this, with their charging stations. There's
- 24:46Speaker 1: just you just look at them and they looked cooked.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Yeah, and the reliability of them is woeful at the moment,
- 24:53Speaker 4: best on what I've seen. So yeah, I think if
- 24:56Speaker 4: that continues, we're going to have a big issue. And
- 24:58Speaker 4: I'm hoping car companies realize that all the free charging
- 25:01Speaker 4: they're giving away with their cars is going to be
- 25:04Speaker 4: useless if you rock up and you can't charge.
- 25:06Speaker 3: And it's literally like getting a fuel.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Card with your new car and then you rock up
- 25:09Speaker 4: to the petrol station and the pump doesn't work.
- 25:11Speaker 3: It's like, oh, well, bad luck, You'll just have to
- 25:14Speaker 3: just go do something else, like some fuel.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Also, like the weight on a brand new car is
- 25:18Speaker 1: at least twelve months, and you can generally get in
- 25:20Speaker 1: a tesla between Sitwell they're quoting when you buy one
- 25:24Speaker 1: off the website, they're quoting six to nine months.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Yeah, but they come in in big batches. So I
- 25:29Speaker 4: think that that will start slowing down as it neeble,
- 25:32Speaker 4: start getting better eventually before it gets worse.
- 25:34Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't know.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Other manufacturers just need to switch on and get on
- 25:38Speaker 4: with it, and they need to fix the charging thing
- 25:40Speaker 4: as well.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It's a shame because there's some brilliant electric cars out there.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I mean, I raved about that Eve six I had
- 25:47Speaker 1: the other week. I still loved it. I loved it
- 25:49Speaker 1: more than the BMW put it that way. But it's
- 25:52Speaker 1: kind of like Apple versus Android in a sense because
- 25:55Speaker 1: what you're charging with with what cables are around as well,
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So it's just it's a shame.
- 26:02Speaker 1: But I think the only thing that's that's making me
- 26:05Speaker 1: staring Tesla's direction a little more is the fact that
- 26:08Speaker 1: the supercharger network just seems to be they.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Don't have any issue. And this is the thing that
- 26:13Speaker 4: I find so confusing. A supercharger, if you take the
- 26:17Speaker 4: covers off, is basically a device that turns electricity into
- 26:21Speaker 4: whatever format it needs to go into that then goes
- 26:23Speaker 4: down a cord.
- 26:24Speaker 1: They're all the same.
- 26:25Speaker 4: They're all the same, So how is it the charge
- 26:27Speaker 4: Fox network is so bad and they just do the
- 26:30Speaker 4: same thing yet they can't figure it out yet. Tesla
- 26:33Speaker 4: it just works all the time. I haven't come across
- 26:36Speaker 4: a faulty Tesla charger yet, so yeah, it is.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I think it's a maintenance for one. The weird thing
- 26:41Speaker 1: is charge Fox are getting a shitload of cash from
- 26:43Speaker 1: the government. If they're not employing technicians and service people
- 26:47Speaker 1: for these charges, then something needs to be said.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Yeah, well, anyway, thank you for responding to that one
- 26:55Speaker 4: comment with that ten minute rant.
- 26:58Speaker 1: But yes, we're go out a little bit.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we would really appreciate.
- 27:03Speaker 4: If you could leave a comment, a comment or a
- 27:06Speaker 4: rating for us on whichever platform you're listening to this
- 27:09Speaker 4: at the moment, or send us an email to what
- 27:12Speaker 4: thing contact at the driveshow dot com today you we
- 27:14Speaker 4: both get those, so we'll be able.
- 27:16Speaker 3: To see it and we will potentially respond.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And now Paul will leave us with a Portuguese song,
- 27:23Speaker 1: Please take away. Oh this is a good one. This
- 27:27Speaker 1: is one of your favorites. Roughly translated, I will have
- 27:39Speaker 1: a large chips with lemon and herb chicken from a porto.
- 27:48Speaker 3: See everyone,
