- 1:00Speaker 4: How long I will long for your touch.
- 1:07Speaker 5: How much and how far Would I.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Go to prove.
- 1:15Speaker 4: The depth and the breadth Of my love for you
- 1:23Speaker 4: From here to the moon and back.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Who else in this world.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Will love you like that?
- 1:37Speaker 6: Love everlasting, I promise you that From here to the moon.
- 1:48Speaker 7: And back.
- 1:52Speaker 1: This was originally a soundtrack for the movie Joyful Noise.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Dolly and Willie re-recorded it for his 2013 duet album,
- 2:04Speaker 1: To All the Girls, and she later put it the
- 2:07Speaker 1: next year in her 2014 box set entitled Blue Smoke.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Parton praised Willie's, quote, old funky sound on Trigger, noting
- 2:19Speaker 1: the challenge of matching sounds his phrasing, doing the duets.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So we got one more to play with Dolly before
- 2:30Speaker 1: we're done. Scott Clendenin is here.
- 2:32Speaker 3: So before we're off of, do you think, why do
- 2:40Speaker 3: you think LSU went, yes, we're against players playing, but
- 2:46Speaker 3: we don't want penalties if you do? Was that just
- 2:50Speaker 3: to placate Kiffin? After they had already voted to say
- 2:56Speaker 3: we don't want these players that our coaches are recruiting here?
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't have a choice in my mind but
- 3:05Speaker 1: to vote for this, okay?
- 3:07Speaker 3: No, I'm saying that they abstained.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. They did abstain on one of the votes, right?
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know that. This is like.
- 3:19Speaker 1: A similar Texas Tech situation, right?
- 3:21Speaker 8: Yes.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I mean, very similar.
- 3:23Speaker 3: They voted against two months ago. I mean, six months ago,
- 3:27Speaker 3: they voted for no gambling associated with the NCAA.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And then they get a gambling quarterback.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Except for our quarterback.
- 3:34Speaker 3: What are you talking about? I've never said such a thing.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah. But, and I'm not saying LSU doesn't deserve... Everything
- 3:46Speaker 1: they get. It's LSU. We've seen this since Louisiana became
- 3:52Speaker 1: a state. But I will also say they're not the
- 3:59Speaker 1: only ones. And I absolutely believe Kiffin, who said, look,
- 4:04Speaker 1: he had other options at other SEC schools. I absolutely
- 4:10Speaker 1: believe that. And so we see it every day. And
- 4:15Speaker 1: Mike Elko said it. I keep quoting him at the
- 4:17Speaker 1: spring meetings.
- 4:19Speaker 9: Yes.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We're all selfish. Don't ask us what should be done
- 4:24Speaker 1: because everybody is out for their own interest.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Kiffin said two days ago, if I don't recruit them,
- 4:32Speaker 3: I have to play against them. Well, the SEC just
- 4:35Speaker 3: said you don't have to play against them.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I hope, again, I hope that's true. I hope that's true.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'll believe it when I see it. And if that's true,
- 4:51Speaker 1: it's the first time that at least two of the
- 4:56Speaker 1: power conferences have stepped up and done something. It is
- 5:01Speaker 1: the first time that I remember that apparently the presidents
- 5:07Speaker 1: and chancellors are involved in this. these discussions right and
- 5:13Speaker 1: they've actually taken a stand i hope it's the beginning
- 5:18Speaker 1: of something new i doubt that it is not.
- 5:21Speaker 3: New william mobley still fired jackie sherrill chip.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Look they haven't done anything with all of this they
- 5:29Speaker 1: haven't said anything they've hidden in a corner they're afraid
- 5:32Speaker 1: to make a decision And we haven't heard from presidents
- 5:35Speaker 1: and chancellors. I hope that maybe this galvanizes some. I
- 5:40Speaker 1: don't think it will. I don't think even if this
- 5:45Speaker 1: stands and these conferences, you know, have taken a stand
- 5:50Speaker 1: and are backed up by it, and even if that stands,
- 5:54Speaker 1: that's a long dang way from changing the direction of
- 6:00Speaker 1: that college athletics is going right now, right?
- 6:03Speaker 10: Yes.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I told Louie today, I said, what this is is not,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and I was all for players getting paid. Still am,
- 6:12Speaker 1: by the way, okay? If that's the market, if $ 5
- 6:16Speaker 1: million for a quarterback is the market in Miami, God
- 6:19Speaker 1: bless him. That's America as far as I'm concerned. He's
- 6:23Speaker 1: got skills, and you've got people willing to pay it
- 6:26Speaker 1: and have the money to pay it. God bless them.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I am not against that. There are just certain rules
- 6:35Speaker 1: and bumper guards that can be in place because we
- 6:42Speaker 1: ain't going back. You're not putting the genie back in
- 6:44Speaker 1: the bottle. There's no good old days. We have said repeatedly,
- 6:49Speaker 1: last year was one of the most watched football seasons ever, right? Yes.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So the game, all these people saying, oh, the game
- 6:57Speaker 1: is ruined. Well, it's not ruined. The stadiums are still
- 7:02Speaker 1: sold out with the big schools. They're sold out, right?
- 7:04Speaker 1: I mean, you can't get tickets. You can't get them here.
- 7:08Speaker 1: You can't get them anywhere in the SEC or Big Ten.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You can't get them. And people are going to watch, okay?
- 7:15Speaker 1: And they're going to watch. But there are certain things
- 7:19Speaker 1: that could happen, I believe, that are just common sense things.
- 7:25Speaker 3: So do you think that because the quarterback that's at
- 7:30Speaker 3: Miami had a contract at Duke, he should have been
- 7:34Speaker 3: forced to keep his contract?
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. I don't think he should hop.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Even though he was making more money at, you know,
- 7:44Speaker 3: $ 2 million at Duke and Miami says.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I understand that. We'll give you five? No. I think
- 7:51Speaker 1: there have to be penalties for all the school hopping.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And I don't know what those are.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Because you were under contract.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. And I think that there have to
- 8:02Speaker 1: be penalties.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I mean, if this was a basketball player that left
- 8:05Speaker 3: Duke to go to Miami to double his salary, do
- 8:08Speaker 3: you think that Miami wouldn't have– I mean, Duke wouldn't
- 8:11Speaker 3: have just said, it's football, go away?
- 8:14Speaker 1: No. No. Duke is like– if I'm a Duke fan,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'm going, I'm losing a player to Miami?
- 8:24Speaker 3: But even if it was Kentucky or Kansas?
- 8:25Speaker 1: No, I understand what you're saying. I just– I don't
- 8:28Speaker 1: think they should be able once– They have signed and
- 8:33Speaker 1: committed to that program to leave.
- 8:35Speaker 11: Right.
- 8:36Speaker 1: But in the old days, when you had a player
- 8:41Speaker 1: that that signed a letter, was at the school, was
- 8:46Speaker 1: there two years, didn't make it as a starter. And
- 8:52Speaker 1: wanted to change, right? What happened? You had to sit
- 8:56Speaker 1: out a year, right?
- 8:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Is there anything wrong with that?
- 8:59Speaker 1: No, not to me, there's not. Because right now, everyone
- 9:04Speaker 1: is saying you have five years to play. The courts
- 9:06Speaker 1: have said that, right?
- 9:07Speaker 10: Yes.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You have five years to complete your eligibility. You don't
- 9:11Speaker 1: get five years of playing, but you get five years
- 9:14Speaker 1: to complete your eligibility, right?
- 9:17Speaker 3: You get five years to play.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm okay with that.
- 9:20Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 7: Well....
- 9:23Speaker 1: A certain amount of games, right?
- 9:25Speaker 3: No, my daughter can play five years now.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 9:29Speaker 3: She can play five years.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Okay, I'm not for that. I'm for giving them five
- 9:34Speaker 1: years to play four.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Okay, I'm still with that. All right. So you can
- 9:41Speaker 1: redshirt and still play, go to school, or they don't
- 9:46Speaker 1: go to school anymore, but graduate, your daughter does. But,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I mean... Big time athletics, they don't go to class anymore.
- 9:53Speaker 1: So that's off the table. That ship has sailed too. Now,
- 9:58Speaker 1: there's things I'd like to do about it. that, but
- 10:00Speaker 1: I can't, so I don't care.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Chip, being enrolled with the internet is COVID for football.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You don't want those kids getting sick and getting COVID,
- 10:11Speaker 3: do you? And not being able to play.
- 10:14Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 10:15Speaker 3: So if you just take your classes online.
- 10:17Speaker 1: By the way, those COVID kids are still playing. Some
- 10:19Speaker 1: of them are eight years into their college career.
- 10:23Speaker 3: There's only one.
- 10:24Speaker 1: One that's eight?
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:28Speaker 1: There's lots of six sevens and eights. Six sevens? Yeah, yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: six sevens.
- 10:34Speaker 3: How about that? We're so hip.
- 10:36Speaker 1: We weren't even trying for that.
- 10:38Speaker 3: We're just so hip.
- 10:39Speaker 1: We weren't even trying for that. How about this situation
- 10:45Speaker 1: with I talked about this in the first hour a
- 10:49Speaker 1: little bit. By the way, did you see Roger Federer
- 10:55Speaker 1: last night at the U.S. Open?
- 10:56Speaker 10: No, I did not.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Oh, man. That was so much fun.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Did he play?
- 11:00Speaker 1: He played a set against Andy Roddick.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And then he was joined by John McEnroe against Andy
- 11:08Speaker 1: Roddick and Andre Agassi for a set of doubles.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I bet I can find that online.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It's terrific. It is just absolutely terrific. It was so
- 11:16Speaker 1: fun to see. Who do you think was the best
- 11:21Speaker 1: player of the four?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Of the four?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 3: John McEnroe.
- 11:24Speaker 1: He was the second best.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Really?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Federer could still hit the ball. Andy Roddick served
- 11:30Speaker 1: 134 miles an hour. He still served 134. I'm not surprised.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He looked good, okay? Right. The one person that didn't was.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Andre's playing pickleball.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Andre has played pickleball. He had been apparently hitting a
- 11:46Speaker 1: lot of tennis balls.
- 11:47Speaker 3: No, he's hitting a plastic ball.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah. And that showed. Now, as the set went on,
- 11:54Speaker 1: because they were down 5-2 and getting blown out. They
- 11:59Speaker 1: won three in a row and evened it to five
- 12:01Speaker 1: and then lost. They only played to six. They didn't
- 12:05Speaker 1: go to all that stuff. But you could see that
- 12:09Speaker 1: it was coming back, right? You could tell he hadn't played. Right.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And then once he was playing, he was terrible. Couldn't
- 12:15Speaker 1: get serves in. They gave him five chances to get
- 12:20Speaker 1: one serve in. And he finally, I think, did underhand it.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Because he didn't play pickleball!
- 12:26Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But as it... Johnny Mack can play is what you're
- 12:32Speaker 1: talking about. Johnny Mack at 67. And he still has
- 12:36Speaker 1: the hands that he's always had at the net, man.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It was so fun to watch. And could serve them,
- 12:43Speaker 1: could still serve, right?
- 12:44Speaker 3: Well, we don't know what he looks like today with
- 12:47Speaker 3: his back.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, it doesn't, you know what? It
- 12:50Speaker 1: didn't matter last night because it was fun to watch.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, today... He's probably hurting a little bit.
- 12:57Speaker 6: Right.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But Roddick, I'm telling you, Roddick works out. That's pretty obvious, right?
- 13:03Speaker 3: So who's in better shape, Roddick or Brady?
- 13:07Speaker 1: Tom Brady?
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:09Speaker 7: Uh.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I tell you, I would put Roddick's fitness up against
- 13:13Speaker 1: Tom Brady's fitness. Yeah, he looked good. And they're interviewing
- 13:20Speaker 1: between points and all that, and he said, well, I'm
- 13:22Speaker 1: hoping my fitness is going to carry me through, is
- 13:25Speaker 1: what he said. And I'm going, well, I think it will, because.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Was it crazy to see people hitting a one-handed backhand again?
- 13:32Speaker 1: It was fun to watch these guys. It brought back
- 13:37Speaker 1: great memories when I used to watch a lot of tennis.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I miss Jimmy Connors being there. If we'd had Jimmy
- 13:47Speaker 1: Connors there.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Chip, let me give you a quote from Field of Dreams. Okay,
- 13:56Speaker 3: we didn't invite Ty Cobb because everybody hated him when
- 13:59Speaker 3: he was alive. Why is Jimbo?
- 14:02Speaker 1: I would have loved to have seen Connors on the
- 14:05Speaker 1: court with McEnroe one more time.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but we hated him when he was playing. Why
- 14:10Speaker 3: are we going to bring him in?
- 14:12Speaker 1: I've told this story before, but I went up to
- 14:14Speaker 1: Dallas to watch an exhibition between Connors and McEnroe. And
- 14:18Speaker 1: they came dang close to getting in a fight. And
- 14:22Speaker 1: it wasn't choreographed, I promise you. You know, and the
- 14:26Speaker 1: one time I had Jimmy Connors on the show, my
- 14:31Speaker 1: question to him was, look, I know you guys never
- 14:33Speaker 1: see each other. I know you live on opposite coasts.
- 14:36Speaker 1: But when you have these get togethers with tennis, do
- 14:38Speaker 1: you just want to slap John McEnroe? And he laughed.
- 14:45Speaker 1: He did laugh. But he didn't go on and on about,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you know, how much respect there was between them and,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you know, how much they've settled any issues they may
- 14:55Speaker 1: have had.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Three weeks ago, Chip, I watched the 30 for 30
- 15:01Speaker 3: on him at the Open.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 1: That was the one famous point.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm saying, and it's John talking about, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 3: and here's Patrick playing Jimmy, and Patrick had seen all
- 15:16Speaker 3: my matches that I'd ever played Connors, and he knew
- 15:19Speaker 3: what he needed to do, and he had the lead,
- 15:23Speaker 3: and it's like, in the fifth set, I turned it off.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Because it was like, I knew Patrick was done.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Well, I missed seeing Connors last night.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And who beat?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Oh, shoot. I don't remember.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Because he beat the crud out of Connors.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, he did. I don't remember. Jim Currier. Oh, it
- 15:47Speaker 1: was Currier. You're right.
- 15:48Speaker 3: And he beat the crud. He did.
- 15:50Speaker 1: He made him look old again. But in fairness, he
- 15:54Speaker 1: didn't have any legs left because he had played some five-setters.
- 15:57Speaker 3: But he had played a three-setter against Harhouse right before
- 16:00Speaker 3: that with.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Was it Crickstein? Crickstein was the five.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Crickstein is the one that they would always show during
- 16:06Speaker 3: the rain delays.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Correct.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And they'd be like, you hear it's raining, and he'd
- 16:12Speaker 3: start getting calls from all his old buddies, hey, it's
- 16:14Speaker 3: raining in New York. And he's like, great, that means
- 16:17Speaker 3: they put my match on with the Connors.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 3: But it's still the greatest line of all time. The
- 16:23Speaker 3: greatest line of all time. We have never spoken since
- 16:27Speaker 3: that match.
- 16:27Speaker 1: That's correct. That's what Craig Steele said.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And Jimmy would not say that he was lying. Jimmy
- 16:37Speaker 3: will not say, hey, I've never spoken to him.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And it doesn't surprise me. Having read his biography and
- 16:44Speaker 1: who he was, it doesn't surprise me.
- 16:46Speaker 3: And that's why he wasn't invited last time.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Because we hated him when he was alive.
- 16:51Speaker 3: It's a Ty Cobb story.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I freaking loved him. Oh, yes, I did. I just
- 16:55Speaker 1: absolutely loved him.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I mean, when they played, it was great.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 3: From the first time in the semis when McEnroe was
- 17:02Speaker 3: still a high school kid, two years before he played Borg,
- 17:07Speaker 3: to when they played at Wimbledon and John McEnroe beat him.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Like Currier did. He did.
- 17:16Speaker 3: When he was young. This is not, hey, I'm over
- 17:19Speaker 3: the hill and making this last run.
- 17:21Speaker 8: No.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Connors was fit and ready to play and McEnroe just
- 17:27Speaker 3: destroyed him.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You know, and he did that to a lot of players.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Well, they did it to each other.
- 17:32Speaker 1: They did.
- 17:33Speaker 3: That's why it was, that's why it was great.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It was great theater. You couldn't have had more separate
- 17:39Speaker 1: personality styles. It was, it was like, uh, Ali and Frazier, right?
- 17:45Speaker 1: It was just like Ali and Frazier.
- 17:46Speaker 3: That's a great comp.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mean, it was, and, and they, the only, they
- 17:51Speaker 1: brought the best out.
- 17:52Speaker 3: The only problem was Ali and Frazier really.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Liked each other. Uh, Eventually, I guess that's true.
- 18:01Speaker 3: No, Frazier's the one that paid the money, kept food
- 18:04Speaker 3: on Ollie's table.
- 18:05Speaker 1: No, no, I know that. But when Ollie started in
- 18:09Speaker 1: on him, that ended the relationship for most of like
- 18:14Speaker 1: 30 years until they finally reconciled.
- 18:17Speaker 3: You never had that between Mack and Roe.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Oh, no. No, they weren't paying either one of them anything.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Did you see the story about TCU pulling the credentials
- 18:32Speaker 1: of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter?
- 18:34Speaker 10: Yes.
- 18:36Speaker 3: John called me today. My son called me today and said, hey,
- 18:39Speaker 3: have you seen this story?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Okay. Did they report the news?
- 18:44Speaker 1: That's all they did.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Did they lie?
- 18:46Speaker 10: No.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Did they embellish?
- 18:47Speaker 7: No.
- 18:48Speaker 1: In fact.
- 18:49Speaker 3: And in listening to you earlier, they never used the
- 18:53Speaker 3: person's name.
- 18:53Speaker 1: They did not. Not until that person made it public.
- 18:58Speaker 1: On social media.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And their reason for doing it was, well, the victim
- 19:06Speaker 1: got a lot of calls. And that doesn't make any
- 19:11Speaker 1: sense either.
- 19:11Speaker 3: It's a lie.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That makes no sense that the victim got threatening calls
- 19:17Speaker 1: after the story came out. I can see the perpetrator
- 19:21Speaker 1: getting threatening calls.
- 19:23Speaker 3: No, he was a good player.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Is that what it was?
- 19:26Speaker 3: The perpetrator is a good player.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But once it became public, there was a case filed, right?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Until it became public, it was just going away. And
- 19:43Speaker 1: once it became public, then a case was filed with
- 19:49Speaker 1: with the tsu campus police right of assault right yes
- 19:54Speaker 1: look it's not the first time any of this has
- 19:56Speaker 1: happened in the locker room okay it's not it won't
- 19:59Speaker 1: be close to the last it's a hundred degrees outside
- 20:03Speaker 1: these guys are beating on each other tempers flare we
- 20:06Speaker 1: see it all the time this may have been more
- 20:08Speaker 1: than that actually, because the player was dismissed. Isn't that true?
- 20:14Speaker 1: After it became public, he was dismissed from the team?
- 20:17Speaker 10: Yes.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But I can see Sonny doing that.
- 20:23Speaker 3: What did you call Sonny earlier?
- 20:25Speaker 1: What did I call him? I don't remember. A provocateur?
- 20:32Speaker 3: No, no. You described him as snarky.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. He's a little sensitive.
- 20:38Speaker 3: No, but you used a different word.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:40Speaker 3: You used a word that if you took the Y
- 20:42Speaker 3: off of it, it became a curse word.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And I thought, why did— Snippy?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Did I say snippy?
- 20:48Speaker 3: Something close to that.
- 20:49Speaker 1: That sounds like something I would call him. But— But
- 20:53Speaker 1: you can't do that. They're going to get hammered.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Sonny has played I'm My Daddy's Boy for a long time,
- 21:01Speaker 3: but you saw the way he left SMU to go
- 21:03Speaker 3: to TCU that Sonny is all about Sonny.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He's not— His father's son in a lot of ways,
- 21:10Speaker 1: let's put it that way. Spike never would have done that.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Let's put it that way.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Put it this way. I'm still snippy that by God
- 21:20Speaker 3: he would think that Daryl Royal is a better coaching
- 21:24Speaker 3: job than the Alice Coyotes because he left to replace
- 21:29Speaker 3: Emery Ballard when Emery came to A & M. Sonny
- 21:32Speaker 3: Dykes went from Alice High School to the Longhorns. So
- 21:36Speaker 3: I'm still a little pissed off. Who is Daryl Royal
- 21:41Speaker 3: to think that his orange and white is better than my.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Orange and white? Oh, that's funny.
- 21:46Speaker 3: What do you mean it's funny?
- 21:48Speaker 1: It's funny. I like it.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not mad at Gene Rogers for going
- 21:54Speaker 3: back to Killeen out of Alice, but I'm still a
- 21:57Speaker 3: little upset at Spike because he didn't stay. If Spike
- 22:00Speaker 3: had stayed in college from then on, then I would
- 22:03Speaker 3: have nothing to say.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Speaking of that.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Spike left and then went back to high school later.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You were around for the Jeff Watson days, weren't you?
- 22:13Speaker 10: Yes.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Right?
- 22:14Speaker 10: Yes.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Talked to a couple people today because the funeral happened
- 22:19Speaker 1: to be at our church this afternoon.
- 22:21Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And that was, what was he, 46-4 in high school?
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Right, in four years?
- 22:30Speaker 7: Right.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
- 22:31Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a decent record.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Unfortunately, two of the four losses were in state championship games.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Westlake, right?
- 22:40Speaker 1: No, one was city finals in Westlake. And one of
- 22:43Speaker 1: them was Chapel Hill.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Chapel Hill.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 10: Yes.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And then he ended up with a real decent career
- 22:52Speaker 1: at Baylor, right? This was before anybody was throwing the
- 22:56Speaker 1: ball around, but he threw for over 5,000 yards, which
- 22:59Speaker 1: was a lot. I know they can do that one
- 23:01Speaker 1: season now, but back in the early to mid-' 90s, he
- 23:06Speaker 1: played a lot of ball and took them, I believe,
- 23:08Speaker 1: to their first bowl game in like 30 years or something,
- 23:12Speaker 1: one of the years he was there.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised because they had kind of fallen
- 23:16Speaker 3: on hard times.
- 23:16Speaker 1: They had, yeah. Great career. Unbelievable career. And, you know,
- 23:24Speaker 1: a sad ending to a great career. But so I'm
- 23:30Speaker 1: assuming and I haven't either. I'm assuming. Are you going
- 23:33Speaker 1: to watch the Vince Young documentary? I read a story
- 23:39Speaker 1: today about what just came out.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I didn't even know there was a fin show documentary.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Okay, Netflix just put it out. It was the same
- 23:46Speaker 1: untold story that Johnny did three or four years ago.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Same people.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And the story making the headlines out of it was
- 23:57Speaker 1: an expansion of the relationship between him and Jeff Fisher
- 24:01Speaker 1: that everyone knew was– sideways anyway, right? There was some toxicity.
- 24:06Speaker 1: There was a lot.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Only because Jeff Fisher didn't, I don't think he liked
- 24:12Speaker 3: Cheesecake Factory. If he had liked Cheesecake Factory, there would
- 24:16Speaker 3: have been no problems between the.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Two of them. There were a lot of things besides
- 24:19Speaker 1: the Cheesecake Factory. A lot of things. Things that I
- 24:22Speaker 1: had probably forgotten and knew 30 years ago, whenever it was.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Did they show that his knee's down in the Rose Bowl? No.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I haven't watched it. I haven't seen it yet. I
- 24:35Speaker 1: just want to know if they show that his knee's down.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I just read a story.
- 24:37Speaker 1: You need to get over that.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Why do I need to get over that? Was his
- 24:41Speaker 3: knee down or not?
- 24:42Speaker 1: I don't remember the play. You mean when he pitched
- 24:44Speaker 1: it back?
- 24:45Speaker 8: Yes.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Right?
- 24:46Speaker 1: Was that a touchdown?
- 24:48Speaker 3: It was the play before the touchdown on fourth down.
- 24:51Speaker 1: That was the kid from Ramones Taylor? Was that the
- 24:55Speaker 1: pitch to him or not? I believe it was. I
- 24:57Speaker 1: don't remember.
- 24:59Speaker 3: It doesn't matter?
- 24:59Speaker 1: No, it doesn't matter.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Because his knee wasn't down?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Right. It was a good play because the officials didn't
- 25:04Speaker 1: blow the whistle.
- 25:05Speaker 3: So now you like officials.
- 25:07Speaker 1: No, I don't like officials much. Anyway, Fisher basically was,
- 25:16Speaker 1: they got him to talk about it.
- 25:18Speaker 10: No.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yes, they did. He's on camera, apparently, to talk about
- 25:22Speaker 1: his relationship, right, and everything that went on during that time.
- 25:27Speaker 1: There was Bud Adams, obviously. There was Bud Adams' ex-wife,
- 25:32Speaker 1: which I didn't know about, and Bud making the call saying, hey,
- 25:37Speaker 1: you need to put this kid back at starter. I
- 25:41Speaker 1: just didn't remember all the drama and everything that went
- 25:43Speaker 1: on because it's Tennessee and it was the NFL, and
- 25:45Speaker 1: by then I'd given up on the NFL, and I
- 25:47Speaker 1: just don't care.
- 25:48Speaker 3: So I should watch this?
- 25:50Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. I'll let you know, okay, if
- 25:52Speaker 1: it's worth watching. But I want to see Jeff Fisher
- 25:57Speaker 1: sitting down– And apparently totally unrepentant about any decision he made.
- 26:02Speaker 1: And I'm not saying he was right or wrong because
- 26:04Speaker 1: I haven't seen all of it yet. Right. Right. And
- 26:06Speaker 1: I don't know the story. But apparently Fisher's like, no,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm not. If you're asking me, did I do this?
- 26:13Speaker 1: The answer is yes, I did. You know, I did this.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Did he say I did this? OK, well, yeah, I did.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And this is why.
- 26:22Speaker 7: Right.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I mean, so by everyone's account, by everyone's account. And
- 26:28Speaker 1: Vince's own, apparently, because I've seen snippets living up to it.
- 26:33Speaker 1: The promo was interesting, but I don't know if you've
- 26:38Speaker 1: seen that or not.
- 26:38Speaker 3: No, I didn't know this even existed until today.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Okay, the promo was, the guy goes, so are you
- 26:44Speaker 1: comfortable with your legacy and how everything played out? And
- 26:48Speaker 1: Vince's answer is, hell no, I'm not comfortable with my legacy.
- 26:52Speaker 3: It is still one of the things... that being the
- 26:57Speaker 3: head coach in the National Football League, even though your
- 27:00Speaker 3: quarterback is the most highest-paid player on your team and
- 27:05Speaker 3: they're the most highest-paid players in that sport, there is
- 27:09Speaker 3: still something about that if your head coach doesn't like
- 27:12Speaker 3: you and doesn't want to play you, They have control
- 27:16Speaker 3: over your life.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Yeah, for the time being.
- 27:18Speaker 12: Yes.
- 27:19Speaker 1: There are only a few owners that will call and say, no,
- 27:21Speaker 1: you have to play this. They still exist.
- 27:24Speaker 7: Right.
- 27:24Speaker 1: But they're fewer and far between. Hey, I've got to
- 27:27Speaker 1: do this. Can you play Mission Impossible?
- 27:29Speaker 3: Wait. You're kidding me. I'm not.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Starts next Monday.
- 27:33Speaker 3: No, okay.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Not this week. You thought you'd already started. No, no, no, no.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I needed to play. No, starts on Monday.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Okay. Friday's Fearless Football Forecast Contest brought to you again

- 27:58Speaker 1: Week one, next week, 9 a.m. Monday morning. Friday's Fearless
- 28:03Speaker 1: Football Forecast Contest.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Before, which is crazy that you brought this up, Jeff.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Because I made it 45 seconds to a minute into
- 28:15Speaker 3: a show that came up on my TV last night
- 28:18Speaker 3: that makes me feel the same way. Probably that listening
- 28:23Speaker 3: to Jeff Fisher talk.
- 28:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Listening and, you know, Johnny's head coach at Cleveland.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 3: The same way.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Was disgraced about... The Baylor. And listening to Dave Bliss
- 28:40Speaker 3: talk for 45 seconds to a minute.
- 28:43Speaker 1: What's the show?
- 28:44Speaker 3: The Disgrace. The documentary.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I haven't seen it.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yes, you have. It came out in 2017.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Okay, maybe. What platform is it on?
- 28:53Speaker 7: It's on.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Showtime.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Oh, I don't get Showtime.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Prime Video.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Oh, yes, I do.
- 28:59Speaker 10: Yes.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:00Speaker 3: But anyway, him talking about how you do all these
- 29:04Speaker 3: things and, you know, the devil is always out to
- 29:07Speaker 3: get you and all this stuff. And it's like a
- 29:12Speaker 3: minute was all I could take.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I get it. On that happy note, we'll be back
- 29:17Speaker 1: next week. We'll have a game to talk about.
- 29:20Speaker 3: We're going to have high school football this Friday night
- 29:23Speaker 3: and this weekend. The Cougars on Saturday. Consolidated on Friday.

- 32:23Speaker 7: How many arms have held you And hated to let
- 32:32Speaker 7: you go How many How many I wonder But I
- 32:51Speaker 7: really don't want to know And.
- 33:01Speaker 4: How many lips have kissed you And set your.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Soul aglow.
- 33:16Speaker 5: How many? How many?
- 33:19Speaker 4: I wonder.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Mallory is brought to us by Southwest Card World. And Mallory,
- 33:33Speaker 1: I don't think I've seen so much outpouring of emotion
- 33:37Speaker 1: in a long time about the death of a celebrity.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I mean, whoa, whoa, whoa. Yeah. You're not Mallory. Lizzie
- 33:48Speaker 1: is here.
- 33:48Speaker 10: Yes, it is.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Lizzie. Unbelievable. Uh, I need to pay closer attention, I guess,
- 33:55Speaker 1: to the people I probably let on my show, but
- 33:59Speaker 1: I have a history of, you know, that, that that's,
- 34:04Speaker 1: that's okay. Um, Mallory actually has a real job. I've
- 34:08Speaker 1: said this before. Not a fake one like we do.
- 34:11Speaker 8: Yes.
- 34:12Speaker 1: She has a real win, and sometimes things get in
- 34:14Speaker 1: the way. We talked about Dolly yesterday, and I wouldn't
- 34:20Speaker 1: go to say we were finished talking about Dolly. But, oh,
- 34:24Speaker 1: my goodness. I've just been– it's kind of overwhelming when
- 34:30Speaker 1: you look at everyone that's– I mean, the flags are
- 34:33Speaker 1: flying at half staff. When's the last time that happened?
- 34:37Speaker 1: Like with quote a celebrity.
- 34:39Speaker 5: And what for the next six days, I think.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Is that what it is?
- 34:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I mean, and every, and look, I get the fact
- 34:47Speaker 1: that some, some celebrities want to jump on the train going, Hey,
- 34:54Speaker 1: remember me? I, I got a note from Dolly 15
- 34:58Speaker 1: years ago and I really liked her.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 1: You know, uh, But I will say that everyone who
- 35:07Speaker 1: has come in contact with her over the years pretty
- 35:11Speaker 1: much speaks the same way about her. And so all
- 35:15Speaker 1: of these big names are releasing statements. And, you know,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I guess this is where their PR people make their money.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Well, sure, yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 1: We need a statement. Stat. Stat.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Very true. But she has made an incredible impact.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm not downplaying her impact whatsoever. I am surprised at
- 35:41Speaker 1: the universality of it, right? And just so many different
- 35:45Speaker 1: kinds of people. I mean, you know, when Paul McCartney
- 35:50Speaker 1: speaks out about it, I mean, you expect the Taylor
- 35:53Speaker 1: Swifts of the world to, you know, have to have
- 35:56Speaker 1: a statement. And I'm sure she was called and go, hey,
- 36:00Speaker 1: Jane Fonda, of course, acted with her. Linda Ronstadt did
- 36:04Speaker 1: that incredible trio album with Emmylou Harris that's amazing. Sally
- 36:11Speaker 1: Field acted with her. Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, and Steel Magnolias.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Great movie, yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, great movie.
- 36:20Speaker 5: You got Miley, her goddaughter.
- 36:21Speaker 12: It's Miley!
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 1: And so many different genres of music. of musicians is that's,
- 36:32Speaker 1: you know, crossed all levels, which not again, not too
- 36:37Speaker 1: many people could do that. Right.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Isn't she also in the rock and roll hall?
- 36:41Speaker 1: She is. She, she turned it down.
- 36:43Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 36:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Within the last year or two, she, she was inducted and,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and she said no a couple of times. And I
- 36:51Speaker 1: just read that she was going to be given the
- 36:55Speaker 1: presidential medal of freedom.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And, She turned that down. Right. But but then I
- 37:07Speaker 1: think her husband died or something. This was several years ago.
- 37:11Speaker 1: So she turned that down during the Biden administration and
- 37:16Speaker 1: President Trump wanted to do it. She said, look, I
- 37:20Speaker 1: it wouldn't be right if I came out and said
- 37:24Speaker 1: I couldn't do it during Biden, but I will during
- 37:26Speaker 1: during this election. She was, and I think that's why people,
- 37:31Speaker 1: so many people respected her because she was able to
- 37:35Speaker 1: cross all levels, right?
- 37:39Speaker 9: Right.
- 37:40Speaker 1: All income levels. It didn't matter what side of the
- 37:45Speaker 1: aisle you were on. And then there's just not many
- 37:48Speaker 1: people like that, frankly. No, absolutely.
- 37:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 5: I mean, that's what I mean when I say impact
- 37:54Speaker 5: is she just, was so important to so many things
- 37:58Speaker 5: and so many people. And additionally, she went out of
- 38:04Speaker 5: her way to just really give back.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 38:09Speaker 5: I mean, I've heard, and this could be a rumor,
- 38:11Speaker 5: but I've heard that she could have been a billionaire.
- 38:15Speaker 5: But because of the amount of philanthropy that she's done,
- 38:18Speaker 5: she never.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Got to that point. It's estimated, and I don't know
- 38:21Speaker 1: if that's true or not, that in her lifetime she's
- 38:24Speaker 1: given away like a half a billion dollars, right?
- 38:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Her imagination library is one of the most amazing things
- 38:32Speaker 1: in the world. Right. She gave away a million books
- 38:37Speaker 1: a month for years, right, to kids not just in
- 38:43Speaker 1: this country but literally all over the world.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Absolutely, yeah.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And that was– I think that was born out of
- 38:49Speaker 1: the fact that her dad couldn't read. Exactly. He was illiterate. Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 1: With 12 kids.
- 38:57Speaker 5: They did say that they were planning to continue that initiative.
- 39:00Speaker 5: So I saw that.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I would suspect. Did you see where Jolene went to
- 39:05Speaker 1: number one on the Apple Music yesterday?
- 39:08Speaker 5: That's so great.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Yeah. That was pretty amazing.
- 39:13Speaker 5: But not nine to five.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Not nine to five. How about Great Britain yesterday?
- 39:18Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 39:19Speaker 8: No.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Heard about that.
- 39:21Speaker 12: What?
- 39:21Speaker 1: What happened? What did they do?
- 39:23Speaker 5: Are you talking about Meghan Markle?
- 39:25Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 39:26Speaker 10: Oh, no, no, no.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I'm talking about.
- 39:27Speaker 5: Oh, no, you're talking about the guard.
- 39:29Speaker 1: The guard.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Yes, that's amazing.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Read that story. I think you have that one.
- 39:35Speaker 5: Okay, let's see. The King's Charles soldiers honored Dolly Parton
- 39:39Speaker 5: by playing one of her biggest hits in front of
- 39:41Speaker 5: Buckingham Palace the morning after her passing.
- 39:44Speaker 1: During the changing of the guard. Yeah. Right?
- 39:48Speaker 4: They.
- 39:49Speaker 1: That's... That.
- 39:50Speaker 5: Was that changing the guard was a little more boppy
- 39:52Speaker 5: than normal.
- 39:53Speaker 3: It was a.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Little more boppy. I, it's like a, a high school
- 39:58Speaker 1: band playing a rock song. You know, I mean, can
- 40:01Speaker 1: you imagine that?
- 40:02Speaker 5: I love it when they do that.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying that.
- 40:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 40:06Speaker 1: So it has come out and obviously she was very private.
- 40:12Speaker 1: She just kept talking about health challenges. You know, Remember,
- 40:18Speaker 1: she had to cancel her Las Vegas residency in May.
- 40:24Speaker 1: She kept saying, improving every day. Our medications and treatments, quote,
- 40:30Speaker 1: make me a little bit swimmy-headed. She spoke as recently
- 40:38Speaker 1: as Friday to People magazine. Uh, admitting she'd been through
- 40:44Speaker 1: hard times. I'm dealing with some health issues that I
- 40:48Speaker 1: just didn't pay attention to when I was watching over Carl, uh, uh,
- 40:54Speaker 1: referring to her husband. And now it's come out that
- 40:58Speaker 1: she was his caregiver for quite a while.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 7: Right.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Before he died, uh, 16 months ago.
- 41:05Speaker 5: Right.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Uh, they were married 59 years.
- 41:09Speaker 5: Incredible.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Um, A private memorial service is going to be held
- 41:16Speaker 1: for immediate family, according to Parton's rep, because that's what
- 41:22Speaker 1: she wanted.
- 41:23Speaker 5: I think it's appropriate.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Fans who would like to pay tribute or encourage to
- 41:29Speaker 1: tag at Dolly Parton on the socials, leave a message
- 41:32Speaker 1: at DollyParton.com. And in lieu of flowers, the family asked
- 41:37Speaker 1: for donations to the Imagination Library at imagination library.com. I
- 41:47Speaker 1: suspect that this imagination library is going to be funded
- 41:53Speaker 1: for years.
- 41:54Speaker 5: To come from just from this.
- 41:56Speaker 1: That's what I mean.
- 41:57Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 41:57Speaker 1: It'll be, you know, that'll be cool. Um, she was
- 42:04Speaker 1: at the Vanderbilt Ingram cancer center. They said they described
- 42:10Speaker 1: it as a It was a brief battle with cancer, but,
- 42:13Speaker 1: I mean, maybe it was. Some of her family kind
- 42:19Speaker 1: of hinted, and obviously this didn't help, but some of
- 42:25Speaker 1: them hinted that maybe she died of a broken heart,
- 42:28Speaker 1: that after Carl died, her health really began declining.
- 42:36Speaker 7: Right.
- 42:36Speaker 1: And I'm sure she was worn out too, right? Oh, absolutely.
- 42:39Speaker 1: If anybody's ever done that, right, she's worn out. I'm
- 42:42Speaker 1: very aware of that. Yes, at 79 years yourself, taking
- 42:47Speaker 1: care of someone who needs help 24 hours a day.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 42:51Speaker 1: That'll wear you out. You can see the.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Statement that her nephew first announced yesterday.
- 43:04Speaker 5: Yes, it's on all their socials.
- 43:06Speaker 1: It's on all the social media. It was between like 1.15
- 43:15Speaker 1: and 2 o'clock. It first came out our time, I believe,
- 43:19Speaker 1: when he first released that. Now, you knew this was
- 43:23Speaker 1: going to happen. I don't think this is the last,
- 43:27Speaker 1: but the Grand Ole Opry... Their weekly show Saturday is
- 43:33Speaker 1: going to be all about Dolly.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Let's see. Carly Pierce, among those that are scheduled to
- 43:43Speaker 1: take the stage, she got her start performing at Dollywood.
- 43:50Speaker 1: By the way, Dollywood is reopened today. They showed. I
- 43:58Speaker 1: think it was Sevierville, which was her home. Good gosh.
- 44:04Speaker 1: The flowers and notes that had already accumulated at this
- 44:07Speaker 1: little bitty place yesterday was pretty impressive.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Last night was the Grand Ole Opry. Rhonda Vinson opened
- 44:18Speaker 1: the show saying this is for Dolly, sang Coat of
- 44:21Speaker 1: Many Colors, also performed 9 to 5 in Jolene. Morgan
- 44:27Speaker 1: Miles saying, I will always love you. And I believe
- 44:32Speaker 1: this is correct. I mentioned this yesterday. She wrote Jolene
- 44:39Speaker 1: and I will always love you within a couple of
- 44:42Speaker 1: hours of each other. Wow. Back in like 1973. Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 1: That was a pretty good morning of writing.
- 44:49Speaker 5: That is absolutely right. And you just take a break
- 44:53Speaker 5: for like the next decade.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was a pretty good morning of writing.
- 44:57Speaker 14: Right.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I think maybe 3,000 songs was mentioned. She was... Wow.
- 45:03Speaker 1: And I think we haven't heard all of them, right?
- 45:05Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean, we're going to hear more because I'm certain
- 45:10Speaker 1: she's been writing the last year when she hasn't been performing.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Exactly, yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I don't know if she recorded any of them, but
- 45:19Speaker 1: I'm certain we're going to have more Dolly music coming up, right?
- 45:23Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 45:24Speaker 1: So... Anyway, yeah, we're going to miss Dolly. But I
- 45:34Speaker 1: said this yesterday. I don't think maybe the average fan
- 45:38Speaker 1: appreciates how good a songwriter she was.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 45:44Speaker 1: She was one of the best, in my opinion.
- 45:48Speaker 5: Which is probably why a lot of artists sought her
- 45:50Speaker 5: out to help them.
- 45:51Speaker 1: No question.
- 45:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Cole wrote with them. Yeah. And, you know, she she
- 45:59Speaker 1: was just an unbelievable songwriter. And I'm just now digging
- 46:06Speaker 1: into some of the songs that weren't hits. Right.
- 46:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 46:10Speaker 1: But I played one yesterday from a bluegrass album called
- 46:14Speaker 1: The Grass is Blue. That is just phenomenal song. Phenomenal song.
- 46:22Speaker 1: And she also wrote. some songs that were controversial when
- 46:30Speaker 1: they came out, right? The 1970s.
- 46:33Speaker 5: Yeah, she did.
- 46:34Speaker 1: She spoke her mind.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Absolutely. She was a very transparent person.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Well, she was.
- 46:39Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yeah, she was.
- 46:42Speaker 5: And a great joke teller.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. And apparently had a few that were not
- 46:49Speaker 1: for public consumption as well.
- 46:52Speaker 5: Nothing we can say here.
- 46:52Speaker 10: Correct.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Okay, let's go on with some more news.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Oh, so we're going to talk about Meghan Markle and Prince.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Harry arriving back in the U.K.? Mallory and I talked
- 47:07Speaker 1: yesterday that they were coming back, and today, by golly,
- 47:10Speaker 1: they have touched down.
- 47:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, yes. They say they're here, that they're
- 47:16Speaker 5: moving their family back. They are maintaining their home in California.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Oh, that's good.
- 47:21Speaker 5: And they're not planning to take on any... They're not
- 47:23Speaker 5: going to become working members.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Of the family. They're not allowed to.
- 47:26Speaker 5: Yeah, that's part of the agreement from back in, I
- 47:30Speaker 5: think it was like 2020. But yeah, they're going to
- 47:33Speaker 5: maintain their home in the U.S. They're going to let
- 47:35Speaker 5: their kids start their schooling in Britain.
- 47:39Speaker 9: Ah.
- 47:39Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 5: So that is what... Let's see, Archie and Lilibet, the
- 47:43Speaker 5: prince and princess, they'll be beginning school in September.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Good for them.
- 47:48Speaker 5: It's all very... private they're not announcing anything which is
- 47:52Speaker 5: probably for the best uh we'll.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Hear from megan soon enough.
- 47:55Speaker 5: Oh sure yeah i'm sure we.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Will megan is uh nobody i mean please leave my
- 48:03Speaker 1: family alone quit talking about my family hey have you
- 48:08Speaker 1: heard my new have you heard my new podcast that's
- 48:11Speaker 1: out yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 5: But I was going to say, King Charles didn't find out.
- 48:16Speaker 5: He found out August 16th.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:18Speaker 5: But he's excited. He said he's excited.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Hey, Dad, by the way.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Hey, by the way.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Guess who your neighbor is going to be.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Exactly. Yeah. And I think they said, where are they
- 48:26Speaker 5: moving to?
- 48:28Speaker 1: A private residence.
- 48:29Speaker 5: Oh, it is a private residence.
- 48:30Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:30Speaker 1: They can't stay in the government housing. No, the government housing.
- 48:36Speaker 5: You know those tenements that are giant.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Yeah, the slums.
- 48:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I think they've done quite well. I don't believe
- 48:42Speaker 1: they need to be staying in this house.
- 48:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, they're doing their own thing, and that's totally.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Good for them.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Good for them, exactly.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Good for them.
- 48:50Speaker 5: We're talking about Busy Phillips now.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Oh, Busy Phillips.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Yeah, so Busy Phillips.
- 48:54Speaker 1: She's a friend of the show, you know.
- 48:55Speaker 6: Really?
- 48:56Speaker 5: I did not know that.
- 48:57Speaker 1: She's a friend of the show.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Well, she's been undergoing a private health battle for the
- 49:01Speaker 5: majority of this year. The Dawson's Creek alum revealed to
- 49:06Speaker 5: the people in her cover story published Wednesday that she
- 49:08Speaker 5: was diagnosed with a brain tumor this past February and
- 49:11Speaker 5: has undergone two surgeries.
- 49:13Speaker 1: That's not good.
- 49:14Speaker 5: She says that she's grateful to be alive and it's
- 49:18Speaker 5: been the weirdest six months. of her life.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Well, yeah, yeah.
- 49:23Speaker 5: And the thing is, like, that is such a busy
- 49:25Speaker 5: Phillips thing to say. Anyway, I've had a brain tumor.
- 49:28Speaker 5: It's weird.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's strange.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Following her diagnosis, she did what she does best and
- 49:33Speaker 5: makes a joke. Let's see.
- 49:36Speaker 1: I think she had it. Of course, everyone has a podcast,
- 49:39Speaker 1: but I believe that when she came on, she was
- 49:42Speaker 1: publicizing her podcast, which at the time was fairly new.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Yes.
- 49:47Speaker 1: And I believe they taped that late at night, and
- 49:49Speaker 1: there was lots of alcohol involved, if I'm not mistaken.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Come on. Yeah, yeah. Isn't there always? If I'm remembering
- 49:55Speaker 1: that correctly.
- 49:56Speaker 5: I mean, didn't we take a shot before? No, I'm
- 49:58Speaker 5: just kidding.
- 49:59Speaker 1: We probably should have.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Probably.
- 50:01Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 5: We're going to start this up.
- 50:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 5: But yeah, so... Let's see. She asked the doctor if
- 50:08Speaker 5: they would do a brow lift while removing the tumor.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I like that.
- 50:13Speaker 5: Sounds like something I would do.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Got to keep your sense of humor. Exactly.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Let's see. And that's about that.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:21Speaker 1: All right. Anything else?
- 50:23Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 50:23Speaker 5: Let's see. This one is Barry Manilow.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Oh, I heard this.
- 50:27Speaker 5: He's taking a break from touring.
- 50:28Speaker 1: He's got voice issues, I think.
- 50:30Speaker 5: He has for a while from what I've heard. Yeah,
- 50:33Speaker 5: and he.
- 50:34Speaker 1: He's doing a residency in Vegas, by the way.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Yes, he canceled two of his residency.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Dates in Vegas. I was actually considering, because I'm going
- 50:43Speaker 1: to be out there in a couple of months.
- 50:44Speaker 5: You're going to do it?
- 50:45Speaker 1: I don't know if I... You know, there's just not
- 50:47Speaker 1: a lot of... While I'm going to be there, there weren't, like,
- 50:51Speaker 1: tons of things you go, oh, I've got to see that.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But I've never seen Barry.
- 50:57Speaker 5: How many times have you been to Vegas?
- 50:59Speaker 1: Oh.
- 51:00Speaker 5: A number of times?
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah, a number of times.
- 51:02Speaker 5: Enough for the both of us.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Correct.
- 51:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Yeah, because I haven't been and I want to go.
- 51:07Speaker 5: There are shows I'd love to see, but mostly the food.
- 51:09Speaker 1: We're going to see the Eagles, actually, at the Sphere.
- 51:12Speaker 5: At the Sphere, even?
- 51:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Oh, man, I'm absolutely jealous. Looking forward to that.
- 51:17Speaker 5: That is incredible.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:19Speaker 5: So, yeah, that's about it for that. I mean, it says,
- 51:23Speaker 5: let's see, he's going to take a break until he
- 51:26Speaker 5: returns to Westgate, Las Vegas, October 8th.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 51:30Speaker 5: So, yeah, it's going to be.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Okay. October 8th. Well, I'm going to November. We'll see
- 51:35Speaker 1: if he's still there.
- 51:35Speaker 11: Maybe.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe so.
- 51:37Speaker 5: November's a great month.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Okay, let's do birthdays, can we?
- 51:40Speaker 11: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Let's see. Valerie Simpson of Ashford and Simpson is 81 today.
- 51:48Speaker 5: Yeah. Singer Bob Cousel of the Cousels is 77.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Oh, friend of the show. Friends of the show, the Cousels.
- 51:55Speaker 8: Wow.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Vic Dana, 86. Let's see. Who else do we have?
- 52:04Speaker 5: Ooh, Shirley Manson of the band Garbage.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Of course.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Is 60.
- 52:09Speaker 1: No way.
- 52:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I wouldn't believe it.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Yeah, me neither.
- 52:12Speaker 5: And Melissa McCarthy says she's 56.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yeah, she was Molly of Mike and Molly.
- 52:17Speaker 5: I know. I'm a big fan. She's a lot of things.
- 52:19Speaker 1: She's funny.
- 52:20Speaker 5: She's many, many things. That is just one of them.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Okay. Um... Who else catches your eye?
- 52:26Speaker 5: Evan Ross, 38.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Oh, Macaulay Culkin.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Oh, that's awesome.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Child actor. 46.
- 52:32Speaker 5: And Chris Pine is also 46. Wow, okay. You know,
- 52:35Speaker 5: I wouldn't have pegged them as the same age.
- 52:37Speaker 1: No, no.
- 52:38Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying?
- 52:39Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, no. I know exactly what you're saying.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Yeah. Let's see. Kiki Palmer is 33.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Oh, I like this Kiki Palmer.
- 52:48Speaker 5: Oh, man. Have you seen her with Sean Evans?
- 52:51Speaker 1: I have not.
- 52:52Speaker 5: Oh, man. They're hilarious on... Hot Ones.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 52:56Speaker 5: The wing eating show.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Okay. See, this is why Lizzie is here. Since we're
- 53:01Speaker 1: not around tomorrow, well, we're around, but we're not doing
- 53:04Speaker 1: this tomorrow. Not here. I'll give you some birthdays tomorrow. Tuesday, Weld. Oh,
- 53:08Speaker 1: she could act in her day. She turns 83 tomorrow. G.W.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Bailey from The Closer turns 82 tomorrow. Let's see. I
- 53:21Speaker 1: don't know who that is. I don't know who that is.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I don't know who that is.
- 53:26Speaker 5: Um, well, they must be so unimportant.
- 53:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Well, I mean, if I don't know who they are,
- 53:31Speaker 1: you know, Oh, Aaron Paul from breaking bad. He's 47. Uh, uh,
- 53:35Speaker 1: I love that show. Love that show. Uh, Jesse, by
- 53:40Speaker 1: the way. Yep.
- 53:42Speaker 5: Um, where's he been?
- 53:44Speaker 1: I don't know. Actually. He's done.
- 53:46Speaker 5: He's been aging.
- 53:47Speaker 1: He's done a couple of things since then.
- 53:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Um, Megan Garrett of Casting Crowns is 46. Okay, yeah.
- 53:54Speaker 1: Let's see. I don't know who that is. I don't
