- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Melbourne's number one hit music station.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Big Brother, back tonight. It's returning 7.30 on 10.
- 0:07Speaker 1: The OG narrator, Mike Goldman.
- 0:12Speaker 2: You know his voice. He's joining us live. Hello, mate.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Rock and roll, baby. I'm the OG. Hey, Mike. I
- 0:18Speaker 3: sound like a rapper.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you do.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You were there at the very beginning, though, right?
- 0:23Speaker 4: The very beginning. And apparently it was amazing, they tell me. Well,
- 0:26Speaker 4: you won't watch it. I don't remember a lot.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Wait, 2001, right? Oh, my God.
- 0:31Speaker 4: 2001, the longest running reality TV show in history.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And the first season, is that all like the Sarah
- 0:38Speaker 1: Marie and the bum dance and all that kind of stuff?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Oh, yes, yes. The winner was Ben.
- 0:43Speaker 4: You know, we had Pete, Sarah Marie, all sorts of
- 0:45Speaker 4: crazy stuff going on. The wonder years of Big Brother.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Did you know it was going to be such a
- 0:50Speaker 1: big hit when you signed on to do it?
- 0:52Speaker 4: No, I had no idea. I'm thinking, okay, well, this
- 0:55Speaker 4: is going to be a big show. It's huge in
- 0:56Speaker 4: the UK. I'll audition for it on cassette tape. And
- 1:01Speaker 4: I got the gig. And when it started, all these
- 1:04Speaker 4: people were messaging me because there's such hype around it going,
- 1:07Speaker 4: what the hell is this crap?
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Because it was different television. It was just had this
- 1:12Speaker 4: breathing space where you actually be drawn in to figure
- 1:15Speaker 4: out what these people are doing because it's It's unscripted,
- 1:18Speaker 4: hence the term reality.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah. So the Big Brother house is in Brisbane this year, right?
- 1:24Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 4: The home of Bluey, the Story Bridge, the Muppets, 50
- 1:29Speaker 4: Cent Fares.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 3: What's new about this house?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Is there anything new?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Any trap doors or anything?
- 1:36Speaker 4: I absolutely, 100%, there'll be trap doors, there'll be hidden rooms,
- 1:41Speaker 4: hidden food.
- 1:42Speaker 3: It's probably getting mouldy by now. All sorts of secrets.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Apparently, I've seen in the ads, because Big Brother keeps
- 1:48Speaker 4: his cards close to his chest.
- 1:49Speaker 3: There is a secret button. What happens if you push
- 1:51Speaker 3: the button? Do you get evicted? Do you get a
- 1:53Speaker 3: million dollars? Do you get a car? What happens?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Super fun. Happy slide, hopefully.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And what do you win?
- 1:58Speaker 2: What does the winner win on Big Brother? It's a
- 2:00Speaker 2: decent prize, isn't it? A couple of hundred Ks?
- 2:03Speaker 4: It's always been since Series 1 some big cha-ching and
- 2:08Speaker 4: a few other random prizes over the years Big Brother's
- 2:11Speaker 4: pulled out. He's given away holidays and mobile phones and cars.
- 2:14Speaker 1: He's so generous, Big Brother.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Yes, he is. He's a good guy.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite year that you did it?
- 2:22Speaker 3: Like one that's kind of stood out? Yeah, absolutely.
- 2:26Speaker 4: It was the year where I decided every cent that
- 2:28Speaker 4: I earned on the show I was just going to spend.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Sounds good.
- 2:32Speaker 2: That sounds like a good year.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I've got a penthouse on the Gold Coast. We're having parties.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I hired the Potbellys to DJ.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I get what you're saying. I think Reggie's year was hilarious.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Oh, Reggie, yes. Yes.
- 2:45Speaker 4: And she's been a big brother a couple of times.
- 2:47Speaker 4: She's a massive part of the big brother family. And
- 2:50Speaker 4: one of my most memorable moments with her was when
- 2:52Speaker 4: she won $ 250, 000.
- 2:54Speaker 3: And she took the check off Gretel Colleen.
- 2:56Speaker 4: She said, yeah, thanks. And then they gave her a
- 2:58Speaker 4: Sony PlayStation. She jumped up and down with excitement.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Oh!
- 3:02Speaker 2: She cared more about that.
- 3:03Speaker 3: More excited about a PlayStation.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Hey, will we ever see you as a contestant, Mike Goldman?
- 3:07Speaker 4: I have been into the house once or twice to
- 3:10Speaker 4: narrate live the housemates for different tasks.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 3:13Speaker 4: But I don't know. I wouldn't last very long in
- 3:15Speaker 4: the house. After the first hour, I'd be eating everyone's food.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I'm a bit grubby. I don't make my bed first
- 3:22Speaker 4: thing in the morning.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Ask my wife.
- 3:23Speaker 4: She'd be like, no one would have you. You'd be
- 3:26Speaker 4: voted off within seconds.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Now, last year they had the element of the 24-hour
- 3:30Speaker 1: live stream. Our producer, Chelsea, you were addicted to that.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I quite literally spent every waking moment watching this live stream.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I would wake up in the middle of the night
- 3:39Speaker 4: and I couldn't sleep and I would just watch them sleep.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Are we doing that again?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Oh, my God, Chelsea. Yeah, absolutely.
- 3:45Speaker 4: What's great about that is, I mean, I used to
- 3:47Speaker 4: host a show years ago called Big Brother Up Late.
- 3:49Speaker 4: It was three hours late at night and you could
- 3:51Speaker 4: catch up with whatever's been going on in the house.
- 3:54Speaker 4: But I would explain what had been happening so people
- 3:57Speaker 4: knew what they were talking about. But now you've literally
- 3:59Speaker 4: got thousands of people online who can go, oh, okay,
- 4:02Speaker 4: this is Brian and Susie who are falling in love.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Or this is Suzanne and Christopher who are having a
- 4:07Speaker 4: fight about whether or not the Olympics should be in
- 4:09Speaker 4: Brisbane or whatever it is.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And do you censor anything or you just keep it
- 4:14Speaker 1: all in?
- 4:15Speaker 4: A big brother has his finger on the button because
- 4:17Speaker 4: some little secrets he wants to save for the daily
- 4:21Speaker 4: show update for everyone to hear about. And obviously, you know,
- 4:24Speaker 4: we've got the housemates, you know, we've got to worry
- 4:26Speaker 4: about them and make sure that they're protected.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And so obviously you've met all the contestants, Mike. Do
- 4:31Speaker 2: you reckon there's going to be– Oh, you haven't yet?
- 4:33Speaker 3: No. No, I'm not allowed to meet them. I'm not
- 4:36Speaker 3: that important.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I'm the voiceover guy and the crowd warm-up sometimes on camera.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I swan in and swan out and they'd say, keep
- 4:42Speaker 4: away from that area where the housemates are going.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I'm just there to narrate.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Well, we'll be watching Big Brother return 7.30 tonight on 10.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Mike Goldman, thank you for joining us, mate.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:54Speaker 3: See you tonight. Thanks, Mike.
- 4:55Speaker 4: See you.
- 4:56Speaker 3: All right.
