- 0:00Speaker 1: I want to have an investment conversation because people don't
- 0:02Speaker 1: really know that you are really into investing. And we
- 0:06Speaker 1: learned this when we first met you probably five years ago.
- 0:09Speaker 1: And we interviewed you. And you was talking about all
- 0:11Speaker 1: the investments that you made during the pandemic since then.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And like I said, I'm not just being facetious, guys.
- 0:17Speaker 1: He's actually in the EYL University classes. He watches the classes.
- 0:21Speaker 1: He's actually doing things on his own. He's studying charts.
- 0:26Speaker 1: He's actually a real investor in real time.
- 0:31Speaker 2: No, this is, and it doesn't even come as a
- 0:32Speaker 2: surprise when we met you five years ago, we were like,
- 0:35Speaker 2: he's going to be one of the ones to come
- 0:37Speaker 2: back full circle and hear that you're still investing in it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But to hear the stories that we talk almost maybe
- 0:42Speaker 2: once or twice a week now. And I'm like, I
- 0:44Speaker 2: don't think that people understand the knowledge that you have
- 0:48Speaker 2: and all the research that you've been doing. And you
- 0:50Speaker 2: were pretty candid. I've been watching y'all and I've been
- 0:53Speaker 2: learning from y'all, man. So kudos to you for number one,
- 0:56Speaker 2: taking the information, but even more so executing on the information, man.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So, so off, off rip, let's get into it, man. Let's,
- 1:03Speaker 1: for people that might not remember that episode, tell them
- 1:05Speaker 1: how you got started investing. Cause it was during the
- 1:08Speaker 1: pandemic and you made some, some crazy investments during the pandemic.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Are you still holding those investments that you, that you
- 1:15Speaker 1: had made?
- 1:16Speaker 3: For sure. Buy and hold H O D L. Um, one.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Thank you. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Come on.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Generational buying time, right? One, like, I try not to
- 1:27Speaker 5: call myself a great investor. I've just been mega blessed
- 1:31Speaker 5: to come in at the perfect timing.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I was on tour.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Obviously, pandemic happened March 20, March 30 of 2020. And
- 1:42Speaker 5: I just had all this extra just dry powder, for
- 1:45Speaker 5: lack of a better word, just sitting in a savings account.
- 1:49Speaker 5: And so I've been doing a lot of research and
- 1:50Speaker 5: I also was hearing a lot about stocks, watching you
- 1:53Speaker 5: guys My little brother's dad was putting me on to
- 1:57Speaker 5: like stocks and things of that nature. So I just
- 1:59Speaker 5: bought like the simple stuff, you know, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia,
- 2:04Speaker 5: and them lots, man.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I still, you know how you can look on your
- 2:06Speaker 3: Charles Schwab, them lots, man.
- 2:07Speaker 5: And them lots say them dates. And, you know, that
- 2:10Speaker 5: Nvidia say $ 30, you know, average price. It's a great feeling, man.
- 2:15Speaker 5: You know, so buying whole, dollar cost average. Then now
- 2:18Speaker 5: the only problem when you get in stocks early like that,
- 2:22Speaker 5: and I have the same issue with Micron.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I have such a hard time buying on like these
- 2:28Speaker 3: little dicks now.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Yeah, because right now, perfect example, Micron, my cost basis
- 2:34Speaker 5: at like a 580. I'm like, yo, I do not
- 2:36Speaker 5: want to get it to 600, but I.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Just believe in memory, at least for the next year,
- 2:42Speaker 4: you know, put that right there. I believe in memory
- 2:45Speaker 4: at the very least if I'm being bearish for the
- 2:47Speaker 4: next year for it to keep running up. So I
- 2:50Speaker 4: go on that tangent to say, yeah, just from, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 4: watching you all I kind of had this little tool
- 2:55Speaker 4: that I do now when I'm buying something new. Obviously,
- 2:58Speaker 4: if it's something that you guys are mega bullish on,
- 3:01Speaker 4: and then I'll use my chat.
- 3:03Speaker 3: GBT or Claude, and cross-reference, I'll be like, okay.
- 3:05Speaker 5: What does Leopold, Gavin Baker, and Nancy Pelosi, what's one
- 3:12Speaker 5: common stock that all of them own?
- 3:14Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? And David Tepper.
- 3:16Speaker 5: And so I just go to all the people who
- 3:18Speaker 5: has like the biggest gains, like I said, including if
- 3:20Speaker 5: y'all talking about it, then I see like Leopold, Gavin Baker, Nancy,
- 3:25Speaker 5: and Tepper all in the same thing.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And they're all in Micron, all in Amazon.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Then I'm like, okay, let me load the boat on those.
- 3:33Speaker 5: You know, once I get it, you know, at a
- 3:35Speaker 5: good price, obviously, you know, I kind of do the
- 3:38Speaker 5: 200 EMAs, you know, 50 EMAs, but I'm more of
- 3:42Speaker 5: just like, I'm repeating, you know, a lot of the
- 3:46Speaker 5: I'm saying the stuff that y'all say all the time.
- 3:48Speaker 3: But it don't hurt to repeat gold. You know, gold
- 3:51Speaker 3: don't get old.
- 3:52Speaker 5: But it's just buying good stocks at good prices, man.
- 3:56Speaker 5: That's really what it's about, honestly, for me personally and
- 3:59Speaker 5: my journey.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Your journey has been incredible and watching your journey has
- 4:03Speaker 2: been more incredible. I want to now, because you're finding
- 4:07Speaker 2: new companies, right? Like when we've had conversations, I'm like, oh,
- 4:10Speaker 2: where'd you hear that? And then like, I'll go research
- 4:12Speaker 2: a company. So when you're doing that, what exactly are
- 4:15Speaker 2: you looking at in terms of a company before you say, yes,
- 4:18Speaker 2: I'm going to invest?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Okay, one.
- 4:22Speaker 5: I'm so glad you said this, Ian, because I was
- 4:25Speaker 5: a slave to the four peonies for a little bit.
- 4:28Speaker 5: And that's not always the best case, honestly, just looking
- 4:32Speaker 5: at peonies. But it is important. So I look at
- 4:35Speaker 5: the price to earnings ratios. I look at the PG.
- 4:40Speaker 5: More importantly, before that, I look at the moat. I
- 4:42Speaker 5: look at how strong is their moat. What is their
- 4:47Speaker 5: competitors looking like? What is their free cash flow looking like?
- 4:51Speaker 5: And what is their correlation to AI? And are they
- 4:55Speaker 5: a check casher or a check writer? Right now, I
- 4:59Speaker 5: like investing in all the check cashers, you know, the
- 5:01Speaker 5: one that the hyperscalers are pouring all these trillions of
- 5:04Speaker 5: dollars into.
- 5:06Speaker 3: And so, yeah, I like....
- 5:09Speaker 5: Yeah, the check cashers right now, just great companies at
- 5:13Speaker 5: great prices, right?
- 5:14Speaker 3: And they have a very strong moat.
- 5:16Speaker 5: And it's like, look, man, I'm mega blessed, bro. I'm
- 5:18Speaker 5: still in my 20s, so I'm a little bit more
- 5:20Speaker 5: aggressive than the average investor would be and should be, honestly.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Let me put that right there. I know y'all start
- 5:27Speaker 5: off the episode with that, but I'm going to.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Say it myself.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Please do your own diligent research. Who cares what Ja
- 5:34Speaker 5: Rule think? You know what I'm saying?
- 5:36Speaker 3: But.
- 5:37Speaker 6: shout out the jaw shout out the jaw you get
- 5:43Speaker 6: the reference um but um But yeah, man, just great
- 5:48Speaker 6: companies with a strong moat.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Great correlation for AI, for me personally, because I believe, like,
- 5:54Speaker 5: I always tell my friends I be trying to get,
- 5:57Speaker 5: you know, all my loved ones to invest in whatever.
- 6:00Speaker 3: They all down for the options, though.
- 6:02Speaker 5: It's much easier to convince people to get in the
- 6:04Speaker 5: options than it is for the.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Buy and hold, bro. That's so crazy. We're getting there, Corey.
- 6:08Speaker 3: We're warming up.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I got to ask you.
- 6:12Speaker 7: How are you balancing the long-term versus short-term? And to
- 6:16Speaker 7: that family point, how do you think we get our
- 6:18Speaker 7: family members to see the value of holding long-term versus
- 6:22Speaker 7: the quick flips?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Man, that's difficult, bro. I'm not going to lie because-
- 6:28Speaker 3: It's tough. Man, I showed them the lots. You know
- 6:31Speaker 3: what I'm saying?
- 6:32Speaker 5: I'll literally show, hey, I put this much. I'm showing
- 6:35Speaker 5: them the lots, like the broken down lot. Like, yo,
- 6:38Speaker 5: I bought this and this. Mind you, our episode, when
- 6:41Speaker 5: we first did our first interview, that was 2021. So
- 6:44Speaker 5: that's six years. Yeah, yeah, that's five years ago.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 5: So I showed them the lots, you know, and I'm like, man,
- 6:52Speaker 5: if you just put this down and just hold, but.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Nobody want to hear that.
- 6:55Speaker 5: But when I brought out the options, they're like, man,
- 6:57Speaker 5: I done did an X10 and a weekly. Everybody's down.
- 7:02Speaker 3: That's so much easier to convince folks to do options.
- 7:05Speaker 3: So I don't know. It just depends on the individual, bro.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Like it's honestly, it falls on deaf ears when I'm
- 7:11Speaker 5: like really preaching on like just buying and holding, like
- 7:14Speaker 5: just get your ETS.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm preaching to the literal choir. I'm preaching to
- 7:20Speaker 5: the literal choir. But yeah, so how do I balance it?
- 7:24Speaker 5: So I have a separate trading account and then I
- 7:27Speaker 5: have my buying hold. So my trading account, I might.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Can I curse or no? Yeah, of course. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 5: So I might get a little shit cold every now
- 7:38Speaker 5: and then in a trading account.
- 7:40Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:40Speaker 5: But that won't touch the long term. The buying hold
- 7:44Speaker 5: got the gold in it. Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Micron.
- 7:49Speaker 3: QQs, etc.
- 7:50Speaker 6: So.
- 7:52Speaker 5: But honestly, I've kind of came to the realization that
- 7:56Speaker 5: I really need to stop trading because it's another bar
- 7:58Speaker 5: you said, Ian. You be trading away your generational wealth
- 8:03Speaker 5: for the quick 30% flip, the quick doubles, the quick triples.
- 8:07Speaker 5: And it's true because, bro, NVIDIA, it's like we up 780%.
- 8:11Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying? Just from buying and holding.
- 8:14Speaker 5: But if I just would have flipped and just bought
- 8:16Speaker 5: and sold NVIDIA.
- 8:17Speaker 3: For like a. 50, not. 50, for a 50% gain...
- 8:21Speaker 3: They're like, what are we talking about?
- 8:23Speaker 5: So I trade the companies that I'm like, I like
- 8:26Speaker 5: a lot, but I don't know if I want to
- 8:27Speaker 5: hold them forever.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Like, perfect example, Intel.
- 8:30Speaker 5: When Intel hit like $ 89, man, I bought a bunch
- 8:34Speaker 5: of shares and I just sold them today. I just
- 8:37Speaker 5: sold them today because I'm like, yeah, I'm up a
- 8:39Speaker 5: good 25%. I'm cool on that. I trade the fuck
- 8:43Speaker 5: out of SanDisk, bro.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I tried to buy a whole SanDisk, but I'm in
- 8:47Speaker 3: too late, man. I got into it.
- 8:49Speaker 6: I got into it.
- 8:50Speaker 3: And it's too up and down for me, man.
- 8:53Speaker 5: So I bought Sandisk at like 980 when it hit
- 8:56Speaker 5: the Leopold lows, you know, July 30th. I bought it
- 8:59Speaker 5: at like 980, sold it at like 1500, bought it
- 9:03Speaker 5: again at 12, sold it at 16, bought it at 15,
- 9:07Speaker 5: sold it at like 1777.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So I have certain stocks that.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Were like the NAND, I feel like in the memory,
- 9:14Speaker 5: and again, this is just my personal opinion.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Out of all the memory.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Stocks, I feel like NAND has the weakest moat. versus
- 9:21Speaker 5: the the hbm and the drum etc so that's why
- 9:24Speaker 5: i like buying and holding the drum etf buying and
- 9:26Speaker 5: holding the micron at least until i get a full
- 9:30Speaker 5: year in a month so i get the long term
- 9:32Speaker 5: versus short term capital gains that's a big difference um So, yeah,
- 9:38Speaker 5: so I kind of, I trade the companies that I'm
- 9:40Speaker 5: like bullish on at least for right now for the
- 9:42Speaker 5: next year or two, you know, but like as far
- 9:44Speaker 5: as buying and holding or like even like an Oracle, man,
- 9:48Speaker 5: it's like.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Half off for all time high right now.
- 9:52Speaker 5: The four P & E is like all time low
- 9:55Speaker 5: for Oracle.
- 9:55Speaker 3: So I might trade some Oracle right now, honestly.
