- 0:00Speaker 1: Boulet Cap Podcast Special guests in here legend, mister fat Man,
- 0:04Speaker 1: welcome bro the al word. What's going down? I'm good Man,
- 0:08Speaker 1: it's happy to be here. Man. Definitely appreciate you reaching
- 0:11Speaker 1: back out when we reached out Man, a long time coming.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But watching your grind, Man, I love everything that you're
- 0:16Speaker 1: doing and how you highlighting a lot of the artists. Man,
- 0:18Speaker 1: it's beautiful thing to see, you know, when our media
- 0:21Speaker 1: begins to expand and expound from people that are from
- 0:25Speaker 1: the culture. Man. And I definitely have seen you grinding
- 0:27Speaker 1: for several years. Man, And I'm just happy to be here. Yes, sir,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'm kind of frustrated because I can't even buy your
- 0:33Speaker 1: ship online. You don't have a website. Now, we keep
- 0:36Speaker 1: it where you got to come get it straight from us. Man.
- 0:38Speaker 1: That creates our own ecosystm. Where can I buy some
- 0:40Speaker 1: some dope? Ara shit. Oh. I feel like everything that's
- 0:43Speaker 1: on the internet is fake. It's all of it. It's
- 0:46Speaker 1: all bout legged the irony of that. But you have
- 0:51Speaker 1: to go to Oakland. Yeah, you have to go to
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oakland or tap into the you know the intricacies of
- 0:56Speaker 1: our ecosystem. Man. One of us me, and you got
- 0:59Speaker 1: to get it from us directly. I think we did
- 1:01Speaker 1: that intentionally, though. I think a lot of I've seen
- 1:05Speaker 1: a lot of clothing companies come and go just based
- 1:09Speaker 1: off the fact of they've been too accessible, and then
- 1:14Speaker 1: people bring the value of the brand down by just
- 1:16Speaker 1: frivolously wearing it and not representing it as h for
- 1:20Speaker 1: the culture. Like we represent a straight, straight, strong harm
- 1:24Speaker 1: strong arm on a culture. So you got to get
- 1:25Speaker 1: it from us. It's kind of like we got evalidated,
- 1:27Speaker 1: Like let me see you dope air approved. Right, Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 1: we got you, Like you either got to go and
- 1:33Speaker 1: buy it or be tapped in, be tapped in. So
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna get you something I'm not tapped in.
- 1:38Speaker 1: One's definitely tapped in, man, I definitely get your packages
- 1:41Speaker 1: and everything. Man, how's everything? Though? I obviously got the
- 1:44Speaker 1: new album coming out this month? Right every week, bro,
- 1:46Speaker 1: we're dropping. You know. That's the thing with us right now.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We're doing this line this year hashtag PTA, which is
- 1:52Speaker 1: pimp the Algorithms. So we're dropping. We're dropping an album
- 1:55Speaker 1: every other week, every other every two weeks, there's an album. Yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 1: so just dropping. So for you obviously. You know, we
- 2:01Speaker 1: think of the barrier. I think of like independent grind.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I think of independent rappers with twenty thirty albums, right.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You know, for you what was the thought process behind,
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know, trying to figure out how to adjust that
- 2:16Speaker 1: Bay Area grind to the algorithm to you know, it's
- 2:19Speaker 1: just pta man. You know, right now we living in
- 2:21Speaker 1: times where you have hundreds and thousands of artists that
- 2:23Speaker 1: drop music consistently and it's so easy. There's no middle
- 2:27Speaker 1: man now. It's back in the day it's hard to
- 2:29Speaker 1: drop album right, Definitely difficult to drop an album back then.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Now to take an advantage, you have so many different
- 2:35Speaker 1: DSPs and other ways to get your music to the masses.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Our main thing is just I'm one of those artists
- 2:42Speaker 1: where I really love music. I really love being in
- 2:45Speaker 1: the studio creating, working, and that's a daily thing for me,
- 2:48Speaker 1: even in the midst of all the other businesses. If
- 2:50Speaker 1: you do it for free, I love it, right. So
- 2:53Speaker 1: my main thing is I still get high off creating.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know, when I go in the studio, I feel
- 2:57Speaker 1: like it's my first day still, right, and I go
- 3:00Speaker 1: in there with something to prove. I going there with
- 3:02Speaker 1: something to create. I'm not one of those dudes that
- 3:05Speaker 1: go on the lab and just you know, party bullshit,
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's not my thing. I'm like, dude, I'm in here
- 3:10Speaker 1: creating I really like and with my craft. I love
- 3:13Speaker 1: it like that. So saying all that to say, you
- 3:16Speaker 1: look in your email, you look at hundreds and you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: thousands of songs like no, they're just sitting. Why not
- 3:22Speaker 1: put these out? Why not finish them? Why not? Why
- 3:25Speaker 1: just get them out? You know, get them out, and
- 3:28Speaker 1: you never know what can happen. Somebody can You can
- 3:30Speaker 1: wake up in the morning and your song is gone viral,
- 3:33Speaker 1: somebody has done a TikTok to it, somebody wants to
- 3:36Speaker 1: put it in a movie. You know. And as we
- 3:38Speaker 1: grow and as we expand and expound, the others around
- 3:41Speaker 1: us that have been in the creative field they do
- 3:43Speaker 1: as well. So you have directors that may be working
- 3:45Speaker 1: on music, that may be working on movies, a lot
- 3:48Speaker 1: of things in Northern California right now with you know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the Blind Spotting. Ryan Coogler is a childhood friend of mine,
- 3:54Speaker 1: And these are people that reach out like, yo, I
- 3:55Speaker 1: need some music for this for us, So why not
- 3:57Speaker 1: put it out? Man? And you know, like I say,
- 3:59Speaker 1: hashtag piece he pimped algorithms. My biggest advice to any
- 4:02Speaker 1: artists out there, there's no perfect time to drop music.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So stop waking yourself and stop thinking it. Stop overthinking it,
- 4:09Speaker 1: you know, and over analysts can cause paralysis, yep, and
- 4:13Speaker 1: you'll be able to Then you stuff and then you
- 4:15Speaker 1: get tired of the ship that you know is hot
- 4:16Speaker 1: because you're like, man, it's just old. Now get it out.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Then it don't come out, and then get the music out, man,
- 4:21Speaker 1: Get the music to the people. Let the fans decide.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Push the music out, and if it don't work, drop
- 4:25Speaker 1: some more shit. And you're not being held or held
- 4:28Speaker 1: accountable to all men. Your last project was trashed. We
- 4:30Speaker 1: don't want to listen to nothing else. Man. Just keep working, man,
- 4:33Speaker 1: you know, keep grinding. Man. That's you know, if you're
- 4:35Speaker 1: an artist and this is what you love to do,
- 4:37Speaker 1: do it. I love it man. For you, you've obviously
- 4:41Speaker 1: evolved into such a leader of the Bay. Like when
- 4:45Speaker 1: I think of the Bay Area, I think of you,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think of forty. I think of a couple guys
- 4:48Speaker 1: who are just kind of like I feel like on
- 4:50Speaker 1: all levels, being an og I always see you embracing
- 4:53Speaker 1: the younger generation. I always see you kind of evolving
- 4:56Speaker 1: the hustle, whether it's doing content now we're doing the store,
- 5:01Speaker 1: the closing line, still obviously keeping your finger on the
- 5:04Speaker 1: post of the music. Shit for you, like what motivates
- 5:07Speaker 1: you to just keep the hustle strong? Man, I feel
- 5:11Speaker 1: like you know it's in you. It ain't on you, you
- 5:13Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like I said, man, I
- 5:14Speaker 1: love it. You have to really love what you do,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you know, to continue to do it, especially when you're
- 5:20Speaker 1: doing it and it's not instant gratification. It's not instant
- 5:24Speaker 1: monetary you know, consumption and things like that. We really
- 5:27Speaker 1: just do it, man, we love it, you know with
- 5:29Speaker 1: me and UNC which he's here, gonna come on and
- 5:33Speaker 1: you know and chill. But embracing the younger guys, showing
- 5:38Speaker 1: the younger guys. Look, there's no age limit in it.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's no there's no expiration date. And creativity, you know
- 5:45Speaker 1: what I'm saying, that's real, and remain creative, continue to
- 5:49Speaker 1: keep doing I tell people Quincy Jones helped create Thriller
- 5:53Speaker 1: at fifty years old. That's wildest thing, you know what
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm saying. And that's that's one of his biggest contributions
- 6:00Speaker 1: to music and one of the biggest songs in music.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You think about the Asian dude who just won the
- 6:06Speaker 1: Best Actors last night, he was like he was the
- 6:09Speaker 1: little kid Jones. I'm seeing that. Yeah, they hugged and
- 6:12Speaker 1: reenacted kind of like that same thing, which is kind
- 6:14Speaker 1: of crazy. Yeah, but that that's like, that's what it
- 6:18Speaker 1: is like. You know, you look at icons and legends,
- 6:20Speaker 1: like Knives winning this first Grammy a couple of years ago,
- 6:23Speaker 1: after all of the things that he's done, after after
- 6:26Speaker 1: was written, like we we look at these things and
- 6:29Speaker 1: we say, look at what our icons have been doing.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I come under as you eluded, uh, the e forties
- 6:36Speaker 1: and you know the two shorts, Mac Dre's, Nicotina's and
- 6:39Speaker 1: the several of the the icons that have done, Uh,
- 6:42Speaker 1: they have pioneered what it is to be an independent artist.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So just following that blueprint and then inoculating the things
- 6:49Speaker 1: that I'm doing to show some of the younger guys. Look,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I don't have to just start with music. We have
- 6:54Speaker 1: a clothing store, I have a nightclub, I have a museum,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I have nail shops. I didn't know, you had a museum,
- 7:00Speaker 1: the Dope Air Experience. So it's just a canvas that
- 7:06Speaker 1: we're gonna allocate to other schools and everything. We're opening
- 7:10Speaker 1: up our school and this summer the Dope Air Academy,
- 7:13Speaker 1: which is just a it's like a course to teach
- 7:17Speaker 1: entrepreneurialism and other things to help these people, these young
- 7:21Speaker 1: kids jump the curve to be able to say, dude,
- 7:23Speaker 1: we got to start our kids early. We got to
- 7:25Speaker 1: start our kids in position to say due, let's get
- 7:27Speaker 1: you in the game early. One thing with us in
- 7:30Speaker 1: the culture that we come from, sometimes our parents have
- 7:34Speaker 1: taught us like you're too young for that, instead of
- 7:38Speaker 1: this is how you do it. Don't touch that. You're
- 7:40Speaker 1: too young to that. Nah. We have to change that
- 7:42Speaker 1: narrative and break that monotony of not teaching and not educating.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So I'm very you know, I'm huge on that. So
- 7:48Speaker 1: that's all it is with me, man in a nutshell,
- 7:51Speaker 1: is just keep leading that, keep going and embrace the
- 7:54Speaker 1: next generation. Don't hog space so long, and embrace there's
- 7:59Speaker 1: room forever everybody. Yeah, come on, man, Yeah, for sure
- 8:02Speaker 1: for you. I feel like San Francisco and the Bay
- 8:06Speaker 1: and Oakland were probably as heavily impacted by the pandemic
- 8:11Speaker 1: as like a lot of cities, because you know, with
- 8:13Speaker 1: extreme wealth comes extreme poverty. When I go to the Bay,
- 8:17Speaker 1: because I try to make it out there probably like
- 8:19Speaker 1: four or five times a year for Empire shit, and
- 8:23Speaker 1: it feels like like, at least in the city, it
- 8:26Speaker 1: feels like a lot of energy has kind of gotten
- 8:29Speaker 1: pulled out of it. Now every time I go, everyone's like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: it's Oakland's where you want to be. Oakland's where you know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: the night life is still thriving. And you know, for
- 8:37Speaker 1: you being somebody from Oakland and just kind of assessing
- 8:40Speaker 1: like the state of the Bay as a city, as
- 8:43Speaker 1: a as a metropolitan area rather, how do you feel
- 8:47Speaker 1: like you feel like it's bouncing back at all? Or
- 8:50Speaker 1: because because you know, I was at trying to go
- 8:54Speaker 1: to a wal fucking Walgreens in San Francisco and that
- 8:56Speaker 1: ship was just not open because of the the law.
- 8:59Speaker 1: You know, everyone was stealing out of there. It's tough, man.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And before we address the secondary, we must address the primary.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You know, we're in the economical deficit is definitely hasn't
- 9:12Speaker 1: affected and impacted and most of the time when this happens.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You hear the wealthy complain about the loss of their
- 9:19Speaker 1: wages and riches and things of their businesses that are
- 9:21Speaker 1: slowing down. But the flip sides to that is what
- 9:23Speaker 1: about those that don't have those businesses to be affected? Right,
- 9:27Speaker 1: So if poverty is how they're affected, So if poverty,
- 9:30Speaker 1: if the wealthy are being affected, imagine how impactful and
- 9:34Speaker 1: affected people living in poverty. The poverty and so what
- 9:38Speaker 1: that does is that induces all of the other things.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Crime goes up, you know, the violence and the impoverished mindset.
- 9:50Speaker 1: So in that mind state, you look at a lot
- 9:52Speaker 1: of the people that are involved that are trying to
- 9:54Speaker 1: rise above their areas that they're coming from. It's it's
- 9:57Speaker 1: it becomes crucial, man, it becomes u It's a sad state.
- 10:02Speaker 1: You know. It's a sad state where I can't come
- 10:05Speaker 1: visit you at your store because I'm worried about if
- 10:07Speaker 1: my windows are gonna get broken into. I can't come, uh,
- 10:11Speaker 1: patronize your nightclub because I don't know if I'm gonna
- 10:16Speaker 1: get rib going leaving my club, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:18Speaker 1: leaving the club. So that's the the climate and the sentiment,
- 10:22Speaker 1: the sentiments that we that we deal with and we
- 10:24Speaker 1: have to factor into these equations. But you can't blame
- 10:27Speaker 1: them for doing what they're doing out of an act
- 10:29Speaker 1: of survival. Yeah, I mean that's and that's that's the
- 10:32Speaker 1: other the other side of the coin, Like the law,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I think it's you could steal under a thousand dollars,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Like if you have no money and you're starving, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: you could go get your food and get your whatever
- 10:43Speaker 1: you need and nothing gonna happen to you. I mean,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you're gonna do it or not, you know what I mean,
- 10:47Speaker 1: You're gonna We we have to stop being so judgmental
- 10:50Speaker 1: and judging right or wrong in situations that's either starved. Yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: it's like context to every situation, like you know what
- 10:59Speaker 1: I'm saying, and and and there's people who are going
- 11:00Speaker 1: to take advantage of that who might not be starving. Yeah, definitely,
- 11:03Speaker 1: most definitely. You know, it's hard to not be empathetic.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But then it's also understanding that you know, I don't
- 11:10Speaker 1: I don't want to be naive to the situations that's
- 11:13Speaker 1: going on. So yeah, like I say, you know, there
- 11:17Speaker 1: is is what it is, man, and you just you
- 11:20Speaker 1: just hope, you know, keep your fingers crossed, and hope
- 11:22Speaker 1: that you and your family are protected man, and that
- 11:24Speaker 1: people find their way. And then as someone like myself
- 11:27Speaker 1: as an influencer, continue to keep leading by example to
- 11:30Speaker 1: show people how to create your own wells right and
- 11:33Speaker 1: you know, and creating creating those wells, you can quench
- 11:37Speaker 1: the thirst of many in your village. I saw was
- 11:40Speaker 1: it your daughter whose car got bipped? Her? Her mother? Okay? Yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I saw like what you posted, was it her school work?
- 11:47Speaker 1: To got her school work? Yeah? And you were like, hey,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I get it as part of the game. I get it,
- 11:53Speaker 1: But can I get my daughter's backpack back? Get it? Like?
- 11:55Speaker 1: Like people don't. People love the game until the rules
- 12:01Speaker 1: hit them and now they want to change the rules. Bro,
- 12:04Speaker 1: we in it. We know what we signed up for.
- 12:06Speaker 1: We know where we live, and we know. You know
- 12:08Speaker 1: you can't change the law of the jungle. You know
- 12:11Speaker 1: what I mean, And we understand that. And knowing is
- 12:13Speaker 1: immune to You're not above it, like you're you're you're
- 12:17Speaker 1: not above and I don't care what you're doing if
- 12:18Speaker 1: you if you in this, you know what it is.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It's just like if you in the game, and you
- 12:22Speaker 1: signed up for something, but you got to come even
- 12:24Speaker 1: when it ain't in your favor. So as I say,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know, my, my, my, uh my public service announcement,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you know, to the bippers out there, like hey man,
- 12:32Speaker 1: if you guys, you guys hit this card. Hey, I
- 12:34Speaker 1: didn't know if you got the bag. Man, they're not
- 12:36Speaker 1: in there. But some home. That's it and so its work.
- 12:40Speaker 1: It has worked before. It didn't work that time. It
- 12:43Speaker 1: has worked before. The relationship. You know, some of the guys,
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know, these young guys, they're the they're the mass crusaders.
- 12:52Speaker 1: So sometimes you may know them and don't even know
- 12:53Speaker 1: that you know them, and they'll follow you and be like,
- 12:56Speaker 1: oh man, my bad, unc I didn't know, and you know,
- 12:58Speaker 1: come drop it off. But uh man, my daughter is
- 13:01Speaker 1: such a warrior man. She was able to steal ace
- 13:03Speaker 1: all of her finals and everything straight A's it was
- 13:07Speaker 1: like her homeworker notes her notes, and it was a
- 13:10Speaker 1: week before finals, you know, and she's she's, uh, she's
- 13:15Speaker 1: she's such a chap man, and she's like she's she
- 13:18Speaker 1: is so devoted to school man, and getting into she
- 13:22Speaker 1: wants to go to you know, like an m I
- 13:25Speaker 1: T or things like that. So she's she's super dedicated
- 13:28Speaker 1: still as the finals straight A's man and I'm proud
- 13:30Speaker 1: of her. Which, uh, Golden State Warrior. At any time
- 13:34Speaker 1: you answered, you think you can get to answer the phone,
- 13:37Speaker 1: It's difficult, Like if real close someone, if someone said
- 13:42Speaker 1: I have a million dollars, you have to get a
- 13:43Speaker 1: warrior to answer the phone. Who who you call? Clay Clay? Uh?
- 13:52Speaker 1: I mean that's that's a good warrior to you know,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you know those are my brothers like you, I mean
- 13:56Speaker 1: like you would have to give me a time frame,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like all give me a window, like give me a
- 14:01Speaker 1: window of time, like you know what I'm saying. But
- 14:03Speaker 1: pretty much pretty Gary's gonna answer anytime. Who's now back
- 14:08Speaker 1: on the team? Yeah, So so Gary's Gary's gonna answer
- 14:11Speaker 1: any time? Were you had with his dad? Yes? Of course,
- 14:16Speaker 1: GPS from Oakland at all that ship talking me and Steph.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Me and Steph are like super close, Like me and
- 14:23Speaker 1: Steph have a super close relationship. Man. But you know
- 14:26Speaker 1: this is we have to be mindful of who Steph
- 14:29Speaker 1: Curry is. So you know I'm saying like I'm just
- 14:33Speaker 1: gonna call you. Yeah. So it's like I'm not just yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 1: that's a that's a tough thing, like to be like,
- 14:38Speaker 1: oh yeah, Steph's gonna answer that. You know, I would
- 14:40Speaker 1: be lying, uh, but well he text back and when
- 14:43Speaker 1: he call, of course. So it just has to be
- 14:45Speaker 1: a time window though. Man. But I pretty have a
- 14:48Speaker 1: great relationship with all of the fellas, man, you know,
- 14:50Speaker 1: you know, Dre's little bro, and we just continue to
- 14:53Speaker 1: keep building. Man, you know, I love those guys. For you,
- 14:57Speaker 1: is it frustrating as a Warriors fan to see they're
- 15:00Speaker 1: like the number one bandwagon team now in the last
- 15:03Speaker 1: decade And I'm like, nobody was rooined for the fucking
- 15:07Speaker 1: Warriors when it was Manta Ellis and David Lee, and
- 15:11Speaker 1: then before that it was like Stephen Jackson, you know,
- 15:14Speaker 1: even when it was like run dmc right, nobody was there.
- 15:19Speaker 1: But now it's like they're like, you know, the the team.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But do you get frustrated to see like bandwagon Warrior
- 15:25Speaker 1: fans not at all? That's what winning does? You know?
- 15:28Speaker 1: You you want to be able to say, man, let's
- 15:30Speaker 1: continue to expand the bandwagon. Man, let's keep going that
- 15:33Speaker 1: lets us know that we're winning. You have Yankee fans
- 15:36Speaker 1: that probably can't tell you one person on the team.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I just love the striking Cowboys fans. Cowboys fans, you know,
- 15:42Speaker 1: all of these franchise man, you know, the Patriots of course,
- 15:45Speaker 1: the Lakers fans. I've seen so many Bay Area people
- 15:48Speaker 1: that I know that were Lakers, al most definitely was
- 15:50Speaker 1: lak Now they're warrior fans, a lot of them, and
- 15:54Speaker 1: you're full of ship. So I grew up my dad
- 15:57Speaker 1: watched them. Yeah, yeah, magic Johnson. I had a Magic
- 15:59Speaker 1: Johnson jersey at four, Like, come on, man, cut it out.
- 16:02Speaker 1: But uh, you know, it is what it is, like
- 16:04Speaker 1: you that's what comes with winning, man. I definitely salute
- 16:08Speaker 1: the fans that were there doing the tough times, and
- 16:11Speaker 1: you know, that's what I'm happy about. I'm just happy
- 16:14Speaker 1: to see some of those people still going strong. Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 1: for sure, shout out what was his name, Bertrand's what
- 16:21Speaker 1: was the guy's name? The big German fucking Center, the
- 16:23Speaker 1: White Boys Lithuania. He died, He had to die so
- 16:29Speaker 1: could exist. Yeah, and people forget that he was an
- 16:33Speaker 1: All Starr. Just he wasn't an All Star, but he
- 16:36Speaker 1: was good. But he led the league and uh yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: pretty good man, pretty good, dug. It's like so fucking
- 16:44Speaker 1: Lithuanian and something like that. He was pretty good. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: his wow, his girl, oh my god, we gotta see
- 16:49Speaker 1: we could find a picture of her. Man. His girl
- 16:52Speaker 1: was so fine. Oh my god. So yeah, I remember
- 16:57Speaker 1: those days. Yo. If someone comes to the bay you're visiting,
- 17:03Speaker 1: what's the advice so they don't get bitped? Are we
- 17:06Speaker 1: like you lying? You get your rental car, you got
- 17:08Speaker 1: all your luggage. Let's say I'm hungry, I'm gonna eat.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Am I taking all the luggage out of a car
- 17:12Speaker 1: putting it in a restaurant with me? Most definitely? Okay.
- 17:15Speaker 1: When you pull up, roll your windows down. Windows. You
- 17:17Speaker 1: know most people pull up and be like, roll the
- 17:19Speaker 1: windows up, we're getting out. No, when you pull up,
- 17:21Speaker 1: roll the windows down. I don't care what the weather is,
- 17:25Speaker 1: but roll the windows down, okay, and take everything out
- 17:28Speaker 1: of your car. Don't risk it. The great advice is
- 17:32Speaker 1: go to the room first, or go to your airbnb,
- 17:34Speaker 1: put your stuff up, don't leave. Don't leave a Safeway
- 17:39Speaker 1: bag in the backs, don't leave nothing, a fucking charger, nothing.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Because what happens is they identify the cars and they like, oh,
- 17:48Speaker 1: that's a rental. They know so they know it's a rental,
- 17:50Speaker 1: like it's a science to it, right, so it's a rental, like,
- 17:54Speaker 1: oh he got a brand new christ the three hundred.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Oh we got a rental. And then people be thinking,
- 18:00Speaker 1: this is the biggest reason why most people get bipped.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Those hazards. Those hazards let a person know that you're
- 18:07Speaker 1: coming right back to the car, so it's evident that
- 18:12Speaker 1: you've left something in the car since you're coming right
- 18:14Speaker 1: back that fast, and hey, somem's in here. That's a
- 18:19Speaker 1: green light. Yeah yeah, because it happens, so like you
- 18:22Speaker 1: could go, you could go to that door, to the
- 18:25Speaker 1: front door right here. The bit pulls up so fast
- 18:31Speaker 1: by the time you get back here, you like, oh
- 18:34Speaker 1: so hey, yeah, man, roll your windows down. You come
- 18:37Speaker 1: to the Bay Area, roll your windows down. You're not safe.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Don't think just because you're going in the Starbucks and
- 18:42Speaker 1: anything like that, you are not safe. Row the windows down.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You will be highly disappointed. Just allow them to open
- 18:48Speaker 1: the door and go through it. Man. And there's nothing
- 18:51Speaker 1: that there's no chain of command. So you can't call
- 18:54Speaker 1: the big homie, you can't call the rapper to be like, man,
- 18:57Speaker 1: can you get my stuff? Bro? That's gone. It's probably
- 18:59Speaker 1: some fourteen year old, fifteen year old who don't even
- 19:02Speaker 1: know who your big homie is. He don't know nothing.
- 19:04Speaker 1: It's no protocols, no chain of command, it's none of that.
- 19:07Speaker 1: This is getting how you live. They eat you feel me?
- 19:10Speaker 1: They out are the key boys eating out there right now,
- 19:12Speaker 1: because in LA there's just a lot of little kids
- 19:14Speaker 1: stealing keys with USB's right now. Man, it's all kind
- 19:17Speaker 1: of stuff. You got the scat cat boys, the hellcat
- 19:19Speaker 1: because you know, they got the whole you know, the
- 19:21Speaker 1: bay is a little bit more technic, technologically technologically advanced.
- 19:25Speaker 1: It's Silicon Valley, so there's some silicon game going on.
- 19:29Speaker 1: There's some pull up to your car with the iPad
- 19:31Speaker 1: reprogrammed the hell cat. We'll get the meat on God. Wait,
- 19:35Speaker 1: so what do they do? Man, You got the reprogrammer,
- 19:37Speaker 1: so you got the when you get in the car,
- 19:39Speaker 1: you got the reprogramming, putting it under the thing. Reprogram
- 19:42Speaker 1: The key folks started up. It's serious, that's amazing. It's
- 19:47Speaker 1: a whole different level of some of thievery going on
- 19:51Speaker 1: out there. Some of them disable your key on God
- 19:53Speaker 1: and bring a new key and just reprogramming that's impressive.
- 19:57Speaker 1: The youngsters is man. They advance. That's why I was
- 20:00Speaker 1: telling us, Say, dude, y'all taking all this time for crime.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Imagine if you did something positive with it, Like imagine
- 20:07Speaker 1: if you created the anti program where now you can
- 20:10Speaker 1: deactivate somebody that's trying to program, like you can win,
- 20:13Speaker 1: be smart, use your talents for a great You're out
- 20:15Speaker 1: here reprogramming vehicles in a vert in a highly stressful situation.
- 20:20Speaker 1: With a very small amount of time, you can work
- 20:22Speaker 1: on something different. Bro, you're under a lot of stress.
- 20:24Speaker 1: You can be diffusing bobs for the FBI. Whoa man
- 20:27Speaker 1: you got? You got talent kid, Yeah, a fourteen year old,
- 20:30Speaker 1: fifteen year old kiddie. Like then the way he explained
- 20:33Speaker 1: it to you is so funny. All you gotta do, bro,
- 20:36Speaker 1: take the iPad, put it under the thing. When you
- 20:39Speaker 1: get the key, boom, it's gonna pop up. The app
- 20:41Speaker 1: is gonna show up. So then you reprogramming bright. Then
- 20:44Speaker 1: you got about ninety seconds. Once you get it, you
- 20:47Speaker 1: click it, boom, Then you get up out of there,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and then you gonna take it to the Mexicans. The
- 20:52Speaker 1: Mexican's gonna give you three four thousand form, Bro, just
- 20:55Speaker 1: chop it down. Crazy, Bro, that's amazing. Say y'all, y'all
- 20:58Speaker 1: too much time and said, my brother, that's all I
- 21:01Speaker 1: be looking for. Bro. I'm either gonna bip or get
- 21:03Speaker 1: me a Hellcat brand. I know I can go. Give
- 21:05Speaker 1: me a quick three thousand dollars, real fast, bro, I say, bro,
- 21:08Speaker 1: y'all is crazy. Stay away from the Hellcat for real
- 21:12Speaker 1: Hellcats and sketch. You will get reprogrammed. Man, we could
- 21:16Speaker 1: get you too unk brow yo, Lambo, that's not safe. Bro.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Let me see this key. Oh yeah, I can reprogram this.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I could reprogram this. Man. You got to be cool
- 21:24Speaker 1: leaving your key in the car. Huh. That shit is crazy.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I think back. One of the viral moments when in
- 21:33Speaker 1: the blog era that you had was when you know,
- 21:36Speaker 1: in my opinion, one of the greatest rappers of all
- 21:37Speaker 1: time fell death to your sword on stage and I'm
- 21:40Speaker 1: talking about Royce the Five Nine. You guys had a battle,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and I think Royce is one of the grace of
- 21:47Speaker 1: all time. So you bodied him. It was rough, No,
- 21:53Speaker 1: it was I felt like you caught him off guard.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And there was a lot more factors into what happened, right,
- 21:58Speaker 1: It wasn't like Royce got killed, but like the circumstances
- 22:02Speaker 1: did not line a favorablyefore Royce he was caught off
- 22:04Speaker 1: guard a little bit. I also don't think Royce came there,
- 22:06Speaker 1: like I mean, you can kind of give you a
- 22:08Speaker 1: little background what happened that night, because it's on YouTube, right,
- 22:11Speaker 1: and not a lot of people can say, I shot
- 22:14Speaker 1: the fade on stage with Royce and rapid and I
- 22:16Speaker 1: got him. I caught him off guard that night. I
- 22:19Speaker 1: don't think that he knew competitively what we were supposed
- 22:24Speaker 1: to do that night. Okay. I think one thing that
- 22:26Speaker 1: was told to me was we're going to have a
- 22:29Speaker 1: freestyle battle with this person, this person, this person, and
- 22:32Speaker 1: everybody's going to be there. One guy didn't show up.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think something had happened to something. Something did happen
- 22:39Speaker 1: to Joe Butden's brother that night. So Joe was supposed
- 22:42Speaker 1: to be there. And this is why I tell people
- 22:44Speaker 1: all the time, here's here's a good hairline headline for us.
- 22:48Speaker 1: That night created Slaughterhouse MMMM. Because Joe Button was supposed
- 22:54Speaker 1: to perform that night. Unfortunately, something had happened to his
- 22:58Speaker 1: brother which prevented him from coming, which left me and
- 23:02Speaker 1: Royce to battle and dual. So when we got up
- 23:05Speaker 1: there to battle, I don't think that he understood that
- 23:08Speaker 1: it was like that kind of battle, Like it's more
- 23:11Speaker 1: like everybody just just get a verse some bars all,
- 23:13Speaker 1: you know. So I caught him off guard, me being
- 23:17Speaker 1: the young you know, super guy just excited, you know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: for one him being one of my favorite rappers, he's
- 23:25Speaker 1: a got to being like, yo, I get a chance
- 23:27Speaker 1: to spar with with Royce tonight, I'm bringing the best shot.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'm going I'm swinging, so you know what I'm saying.
- 23:34Speaker 1: So we did that. So then that led to Joe
- 23:37Speaker 1: and Royce having words. I forgot that the little beef. Yeah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: this is before Slaughterhouse, So that night created Slaughterhouse. Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 1: because off of their beef is how they kind of yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: got cool. So then it was like Joe was like,
- 23:52Speaker 1: Hugh Royce, y'all whack woo, you know, Joe, Joe gets
- 23:55Speaker 1: in his bag and he was like whatever, like y'all
- 23:58Speaker 1: not even in my lone lane. And then Joe and Royce,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I mean Joe and Royce and then me and Royce
- 24:05Speaker 1: and they were like, we did what we did And
- 24:08Speaker 1: then they were they went and then they you know,
- 24:12Speaker 1: that was that began and took for real, so it conflated.
- 24:17Speaker 1: They came together, they got Joel and and Uh and
- 24:20Speaker 1: Crooked and created the Dope who was on that first song.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Nino Blessed was on a song with them, and he
- 24:25Speaker 1: was like, there was there was a song called Slaughterhouse
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I think it was five of them, but they
- 24:31Speaker 1: didn't end up including No Blessed, so Joe Crook and
- 24:35Speaker 1: Joe and then they created you know, arguably one of
- 24:37Speaker 1: the dopest groups. You know, especially first album was amazing
- 24:41Speaker 1: for sure. Man, to be able to watch all of
- 24:43Speaker 1: those dudes just trade bars was super dope. Man. It
- 24:46Speaker 1: was funny because my dude came to me one day
- 24:49Speaker 1: he was like, cuz, man, you helps work that bro,
- 24:52Speaker 1: they could at least put you on a song or something.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I say, Man, that's crazy. I say, Man, they're in
- 24:56Speaker 1: a different league, man. You know we we we the underground.
- 25:00Speaker 1: We like the dude that beat Tyson in prison and
- 25:02Speaker 1: nobody knows his name. We just heard the rumors of
- 25:04Speaker 1: Tyson lost a fight in jail. What is interesting too,
- 25:07Speaker 1: because I do feel like, for whatever reason, it's still happening.
- 25:10Speaker 1: But in terms of like the Bay Area, if you
- 25:14Speaker 1: go to the Bay it is very much like its
- 25:15Speaker 1: own like you're like in your own country kind of
- 25:19Speaker 1: hip hop. It's like an island. Like you go to
- 25:21Speaker 1: the club, you're gonna hear shit. You're gonna hear songs
- 25:23Speaker 1: from people who aren't from the Bay that you won't
- 25:25Speaker 1: hear anywhere else. Like you'll hear some Baby Boy the
- 25:28Speaker 1: Prince or some like for sure, you'll just hear shit
- 25:30Speaker 1: that like only worked there. The Way We Live still
- 25:33Speaker 1: gets played, That's what I mean. Like this that that record,
- 25:36Speaker 1: I think one of the young guys just redid that
- 25:38Speaker 1: beat or something, or he's planning to redo that beat.
- 25:40Speaker 1: That record is still big and people like never even
- 25:43Speaker 1: heard that record. It's so crazy because like it is
- 25:46Speaker 1: indeed its own island, and I think that there's like
- 25:50Speaker 1: gifts and curses with that while also being like one
- 25:52Speaker 1: of the most influential places in hip hop. There's so
- 25:56Speaker 1: many things you can trace back to the Bay Area. Right,
- 26:00Speaker 1: Why do you think you know twenty years later now
- 26:04Speaker 1: you have a lot of context to your career and
- 26:07Speaker 1: just you know, observing the music industry that the base
- 26:10Speaker 1: still somehow doesn't get the flowers or respect you think
- 26:13Speaker 1: it deserves, because I think it deserves a lot more
- 26:15Speaker 1: love and respect, you know, in terms of the landscape
- 26:17Speaker 1: and hip hop. You look at independent artists that have
- 26:21Speaker 1: dealt with mainstream artists that have been backed by powerhouse machines,
- 26:27Speaker 1: and you can't there's no equivalence to an independent artist
- 26:33Speaker 1: pushing out his own product versus a label that's pushing
- 26:37Speaker 1: millions and correct and you know what I'm saying, hundreds
- 26:39Speaker 1: of thousand dollars behind a single correct for someone who's
- 26:43Speaker 1: pushing a couple pennies towards a project, you know, And
- 26:47Speaker 1: that's at the end of the day, that's what it is. Like.
- 26:50Speaker 1: The difference is, as independent artists, we've created an infrastructure
- 26:54Speaker 1: that has solely been based off a fan artist type relationship.
- 27:00Speaker 1: We look at what the Russell is doing right now,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and that's all just fan base. That's all community. This
- 27:06Speaker 1: whole community and this ecosystem is that's what to marginalize
- 27:11Speaker 1: the Bay Area in a nutshell, that's what it is.
- 27:13Speaker 1: It's just artists that has succeeded in respected markets with
- 27:18Speaker 1: the art with with the fans and the group of
- 27:20Speaker 1: people that support them and they just focus on them.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Like you may take the hottest artists in the country
- 27:29Speaker 1: and put him against somebody in the Bay that that
- 27:33Speaker 1: may be thriving there demographically, and they do a show,
- 27:38Speaker 1: they're gonna be people that are going to be going
- 27:39Speaker 1: to that to that Bay, to that artist from the
- 27:41Speaker 1: Bay's record, or if they put them on the same show,
- 27:44Speaker 1: that artist is gonna be like, damn, why y'all let
- 27:45Speaker 1: me open? Like just brought Dlo out like a few
- 27:48Speaker 1: months ago, and it was crazy. It was I feel
- 27:53Speaker 1: like it was like somebody else YG, maybe it was
- 27:59Speaker 1: Kline brought him out about three months ago. Yeah, I
- 28:02Speaker 1: think that's what I was if. I mean, obviously she
- 28:06Speaker 1: was from the Bay, you know, so it's a little
- 28:08Speaker 1: little but I was just like that so tight she
- 28:10Speaker 1: brought him out, and then YG brought him out about
- 28:12Speaker 1: a month ago, same energy. D Low has hit the
- 28:16Speaker 1: ground running. He just, you know, came home from prison
- 28:19Speaker 1: and just been hitting the ground running. And like I
- 28:21Speaker 1: told him, he's so influential. He doesn't even know, right,
- 28:26Speaker 1: he was a kid when that record was probably sixteen
- 28:28Speaker 1: years old, seventeen years old, and all of these years later,
- 28:31Speaker 1: that record is still the number one records in the
- 28:35Speaker 1: in the party starting record, and so now this is
- 28:38Speaker 1: about him getting out and expanding and continuing to keep
- 28:40Speaker 1: moving forward. But you see that times over in the Bay.
- 28:45Speaker 1: There's so many different artists that are doing There's a
- 28:48Speaker 1: young artist named Cato who has a record called go
- 28:50Speaker 1: Off that went viral on TikTok, and you don't see
- 28:54Speaker 1: people working records anymore. And like I was telling him, though,
- 28:56Speaker 1: put some y'all never even worked that record. I'm like, hunk,
- 29:00Speaker 1: all this person some energy, put some energy behind it.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Like if you really put some energy behind this record,
- 29:06Speaker 1: say I didn't watch y'all blow twenty thirty thousand and
- 29:09Speaker 1: on the weekend at the club or something, go put
- 29:11Speaker 1: that behind somebody. Call you know this guy and say, man,
- 29:13Speaker 1: can you work this record? Help me get this record? Yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I see. Like the stunner Man kid's been working his
- 29:17Speaker 1: record for two years, two years now, two years and
- 29:21Speaker 1: stunner Man his energy alone, he's just a good person,
- 29:24Speaker 1: great kid. He's got his he's got an amazing line
- 29:26Speaker 1: of organic juices that taste amazing. He's just a great kid.
- 29:31Speaker 1: His energy for sure, like his energy just so he's
- 29:33Speaker 1: just a great kid man, so it's hard to not
- 29:35Speaker 1: like him. Like we were in I was a he
- 29:38Speaker 1: records at my home studio, like where I do all
- 29:41Speaker 1: my work at Studio X. And he came in the
- 29:45Speaker 1: other day and he was like, man, what did it
- 29:48Speaker 1: take to get you on the song? I'm like, what,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I'm like, load up? What you want me to get on?
- 29:54Speaker 1: He said, But I got this one, but then I
- 29:56Speaker 1: might have liked it this but this one sound cool too.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Just did three verses for me real quick. Well pick
- 30:02Speaker 1: what you like, just take whatever one. He was like,
- 30:04Speaker 1: But that's you know, that's the type of organic energy
- 30:06Speaker 1: that we own. Man right there, man, and and and
- 30:08Speaker 1: and that camaraderie can continue to help bridge what has
- 30:12Speaker 1: ever been separated in there. You got a lot of
- 30:14Speaker 1: guys that are that are working extremely hard from all
- 30:17Speaker 1: cities up in the Bay. San Francisco is really thriving, Oakland,
- 30:22Speaker 1: e p A. Berkeley, Richmond the most. Definitely Valeo and Sacramento,
- 30:26Speaker 1: which a lot of people won't consider the Bay, Stockton
- 30:29Speaker 1: and Sacramento. Stockton's on fire. Doctor is crazy, like the
- 30:32Speaker 1: whole Stocking movement is on fire. And unfortunately that and
- 30:35Speaker 1: you know, I know they lost the Slow B guy,
- 30:37Speaker 1: but nursing piece of Slow B and Stockton Is but
- 30:40Speaker 1: all the EBK all those guys though, I mean, those
- 30:42Speaker 1: guys are crazy. And then we just seen Haiti Baby
- 30:45Speaker 1: get signed with so you know, yeah, I always like
- 30:49Speaker 1: it is funny because you'll you'll hear like you'll talk
- 30:52Speaker 1: like you'll talk to certain people from and they're from
- 30:54Speaker 1: like Sacramento and or stocked It and then you'll ask
- 30:58Speaker 1: them if they don't think that, you know, like where
- 31:00Speaker 1: are you from from the Bay? I'm from Sack, I said, right.
- 31:05Speaker 1: But now Sack has created its own representation. Now they
- 31:11Speaker 1: just like it's just like that. They just just pieful
- 31:13Speaker 1: now now from Sack. So you know what I'm saying.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You know, you contribute, uh, the mazi's and the cmos,
- 31:21Speaker 1: you know, and and and all of the dB botty
- 31:23Speaker 1: Bags and all of these other artists that have done
- 31:26Speaker 1: tremendous work to grab them their identity in the continuance
- 31:30Speaker 1: of the Sea Bowls and the X Rated, the roop
- 31:34Speaker 1: Dogs and Brother Lynches and these guys that have that
- 31:36Speaker 1: have done it for years. Marvelous, one of the first
- 31:38Speaker 1: female rappers to be on the scene, yeah, come on
- 31:42Speaker 1: like you like ce Bo is a pioneer man, independent
- 31:47Speaker 1: like this is. There would be no sack music scene
- 31:50Speaker 1: without ce Bow and you know in black Market. You
- 31:54Speaker 1: know when I was able to do. When I was
- 31:56Speaker 1: a little kid, I bought Season of the Sickness for
- 31:59Speaker 1: Brotherly Brother Lynn. Well, I didn't buy it. My best
- 32:01Speaker 1: friend had the CD and I was probably like seven eight,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and I believe that he was eating but I love
- 32:11Speaker 1: that shit, that album. I'm the type of a horse
- 32:13Speaker 1: head and your bed which your wife is miss the
- 32:16Speaker 1: knife and he's got a whole song about eating kids.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I love Brother lynch Man, Brother Lynch And so when
- 32:22Speaker 1: I was a little kid, I remember like listening to

- 34:17Speaker 1: at Hardan is like nowhere else. The customer service, the
- 34:22Speaker 1: selection of premium cannabis, the experience as a customer that
- 34:26Speaker 1: you get when you walk into the building in Las

- 35:03Speaker 1: He put that nne up in there. Pussy whole cocka back,
- 35:06Speaker 1: slow rocking back and forth, wait for the nut and
- 35:08Speaker 1: let my tuer go boom, pussy guts all over the room.
- 35:11Speaker 1: And the whole song is about eating, like serving. Maybe
- 35:14Speaker 1: he's serving his own children baby parts. Lynch was crazy
- 35:20Speaker 1: like Lynch Lynch Looney calling on. Unfortunately Lurch actually did it.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Remember that's what he jailed for. Yeah, I didn't know
- 35:28Speaker 1: that Lurch wigged out on some PCP and actually ate
- 35:32Speaker 1: someone he was hanging out with, brother Lynch. Yeah, that
- 35:35Speaker 1: was their whole crew, like they was their crew. Like,
- 35:37Speaker 1: well yeah he actually he was inspired by hip so
- 35:43Speaker 1: but no, Sad, I didn't know that. Yeah, he's actually
- 35:45Speaker 1: in jail for that right now. Fuck X Rayeds out,
- 35:49Speaker 1: Thriving x rays Out, Strange. I feel like Strange might
- 35:54Speaker 1: have tried it. They were trying to sign you technical Travis.
- 35:58Speaker 1: We spoke, I did a They pushed a hard line,
- 36:01Speaker 1: super hard. I mean they're strict. It's like it's kind
- 36:03Speaker 1: of like it's because a bot camp camp for sure,
- 36:08Speaker 1: Like you go on tour and get fine and ship.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Me and Tech are like this like that's that's my
- 36:11Speaker 1: brother man. And Tech has showed me so much love
- 36:13Speaker 1: and game. I remember my first time going to Kansas
- 36:16Speaker 1: City doing the show. Shortly after Macdrey was assassinated. Tech
- 36:23Speaker 1: came to the show and was like I'm not letting
- 36:25Speaker 1: nothing happen. He was their security guards and from I'm
- 36:28Speaker 1: talking about from me entering Kansas City to me leaving,
- 36:32Speaker 1: he was with me. And I was just like how
- 36:37Speaker 1: did you get my number? Like this is like like
- 36:40Speaker 1: he just called me. I was like what's up. I'm like, Tech,
- 36:44Speaker 1: what's up? Where you at? Like, man, you're at Candy
- 36:47Speaker 1: tonight right pulling up and he just stayed with me.
- 36:51Speaker 1: It was like nothing's going to happen to Yeah. For
- 36:53Speaker 1: people who don't know mac Drey was murdered in Kansas City,
- 36:56Speaker 1: man and and Tech uh uh and Joe and like
- 37:02Speaker 1: the whole squad. Travis made sure that we was cool
- 37:05Speaker 1: man and like man like yeah, but the strange music,
- 37:09Speaker 1: like bro, they so militant. Like when Tech goes on tour,
- 37:14Speaker 1: Tech does like ninety eight days, ninety eight dates and
- 37:18Speaker 1: one hundred days. It's it's no rooms you're shwering at
- 37:24Speaker 1: and he's expecting a baby right now. I don't know
- 37:27Speaker 1: how that's gonna happen. Like, bro, you shiring at truck
- 37:29Speaker 1: stops for sure. You gotta get up at six in
- 37:32Speaker 1: the morning. You gotta deal with those those strange music
- 37:35Speaker 1: fans who are a special kind of fan. At the
- 37:37Speaker 1: end of the show, you gotta wait till all the
- 37:39Speaker 1: meet and greet and the signings and all that's done.
- 37:41Speaker 1: So you might have performed at nine o'clock, you're not
- 37:44Speaker 1: leaving that city till two o'clock. You gotta be at
- 37:47Speaker 1: the next city at a certain time. You gotta shower,
- 37:49Speaker 1: I said, I went out, I'll say to boogie for this.
- 37:54Speaker 1: So I don't want to. I don't want to be
- 37:55Speaker 1: this type of successful. This is a different level of success.
- 37:58Speaker 1: I love my freedom, brother, I don't I want to
- 38:01Speaker 1: shower in a nice place. I am the room type.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I am the I got to go go to the hotel.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I got to catch an airplane. Man, I can't do
- 38:10Speaker 1: it like I don't know, say it wasn't meant for
- 38:13Speaker 1: me to get to get on that way. Sometimes you
- 38:15Speaker 1: got to realize, Man, you gotta really applaud those people
- 38:17Speaker 1: that put in that extra effort and Tech nine is
- 38:21Speaker 1: the reason why he is and the reason why they're
- 38:23Speaker 1: successful as they are because the behind the scenes work
- 38:26Speaker 1: that they put in. Oh my god, the average artists
- 38:28Speaker 1: wouldn't last. That's a real rap boot camp. Like, that's like, dude,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you come in here, it's deer. You got to be
- 38:34Speaker 1: ready for sure. So I love them and I salute
- 38:37Speaker 1: them like for what they do. Man, them dudes are
- 38:39Speaker 1: definitely deserving of everything that they get. I think some
- 38:43Speaker 1: people who aren't from the Bay might not understand the
- 38:48Speaker 1: gravity of mac dre, right. I think that for a
- 38:52Speaker 1: lot of people, mac Dre wasn't a thing until he passed,
- 38:55Speaker 1: and that's how they found out about him. Now, obviously
- 38:58Speaker 1: in the Bay it's a lot different, But I had
- 38:59Speaker 1: heard prior to him passing he was more embraced by
- 39:03Speaker 1: like the like more nerdy, like like Berkeley, like rap
- 39:06Speaker 1: hippie shit. Like. Explain to me kind of the dynamic
- 39:09Speaker 1: of mac dre like and his kind of career and
- 39:12Speaker 1: how things change in the way he was perceived after
- 39:15Speaker 1: he passed, even even from like somebody like yourself, I
- 39:18Speaker 1: think even the misconception of Berkeley, like we we people
- 39:24Speaker 1: grab Berkeley from Telegraph Street and they think that that's
- 39:28Speaker 1: just Berkeley, Like Berkeley is hood, Like you know what
- 39:30Speaker 1: I'm saying, it's you got the South Berkeley's the waterfronts, like,
- 39:33Speaker 1: so all Berkeley, not just what you see on Telegraph Street.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Like what I'm saying, Berkeley is like it's a real spot,
- 39:39Speaker 1: like it's a hood spot. So his fans, though, to
- 39:43Speaker 1: you know, support what you were saying. He had a
- 39:46Speaker 1: fan base before he before he got out of jail,
- 39:51Speaker 1: like people forget the California living, people forget the too
- 39:53Speaker 1: hard for the radio on his first run where he
- 39:56Speaker 1: sold you know, hundreds of thousands of records, and it's
- 40:00Speaker 1: safe to say that was before the fist face for sure,
- 40:02Speaker 1: way before that. Then you know, he went to the
- 40:04Speaker 1: federal penitentiary for trumped up charges and he refused to
- 40:09Speaker 1: tell on his friends. He did about five and a
- 40:11Speaker 1: half years and he came out and his philosophy was, Man,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I'm just gonna have fun. I'm gonna just kick it,
- 40:17Speaker 1: make some party music and chill and Miami created you know,
- 40:22Speaker 1: the term this and it was just about just having fun,
- 40:25Speaker 1: like doing the hippie, like creating the modern day hip
- 40:29Speaker 1: hop hippie, and a lot of people don't understand. He went,
- 40:35Speaker 1: I won't say under the wing, but let's say side
- 40:38Speaker 1: by side with Andre Nicotina, and Nicotina was like another
- 40:42Speaker 1: legend who doesn't super icon, who you won't get an
- 40:45Speaker 1: interview out of, you won't anything. It still does like
- 40:49Speaker 1: random shows. Yeah, he'll do when he wants to. You'll
- 40:52Speaker 1: be like a Nicotina's performing here, like he's doing this,
- 40:55Speaker 1: He's doing this thing now with the symphony where they're
- 40:58Speaker 1: doing He's like the San Francisco Symphony is doing his
- 41:01Speaker 1: music and like Niggis. I think Godzi was telling me
- 41:04Speaker 1: about that. I love Nikki, like like Nikki is a
- 41:06Speaker 1: dude where he's a he's a guru man. He'll he
- 41:09Speaker 1: talked to you in parables and it's just like you
- 41:11Speaker 1: sit up and you be like see all that ship
- 41:14Speaker 1: just miss me Lean a kid from Phoenix, like the
- 41:16Speaker 1: mac dre Andre Nicotina. I was listening to forty in
- 41:19Speaker 1: a major way. I was listening to all the two
- 41:21Speaker 1: short ships. So they were underground, so like hieroglyphics, but
- 41:25Speaker 1: like and and like Selly sell ship like that, but
- 41:28Speaker 1: that like under Drey Dog was like Dre Dog is
- 41:31Speaker 1: you know that's Nicotina. That's like the under undercut. So
- 41:35Speaker 1: Dre and Dre and Dre hooked up. So Nicotina and
- 41:39Speaker 1: and and uh mac Dre hooked up and Dre was like,
- 41:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna introduce you to these other fans, to these fans.
- 41:46Speaker 1: That's supportive, to these fans, that's gone no matter what
- 41:49Speaker 1: you do. And we went out on tour and it
- 41:52Speaker 1: was a Nicotina tour and me, I was like, I
- 41:57Speaker 1: thought mac Dre was bigger than Nikki until I went
- 42:02Speaker 1: to the Seattle's and the Olympias and the Salem's and
- 42:05Speaker 1: the belly Hans and I was like, oh, it's different.
- 42:09Speaker 1: He's bringing them out. Yeah, like Nikki huge. So I
- 42:13Speaker 1: got a chance to go on a Canadian tour with
- 42:14Speaker 1: Nicotina and I was just I was blown away because
- 42:17Speaker 1: I'm like, we're going in the cities you can't I
- 42:18Speaker 1: can't even pronounce the city and I'm just like the
- 42:20Speaker 1: lines wrapped around the corner and like Nicotina is just
- 42:24Speaker 1: like wow. So that's the fan base they had. They had,
- 42:27Speaker 1: like you know, big shoutouts to Santa Rosa, Sebastia Pool, Petaluma, Yukaya, Humbled,
- 42:32Speaker 1: all of these small cities that people bypass the normal
- 42:37Speaker 1: mainstream hip hop they go right by those these cities.
- 42:39Speaker 1: But these guys made a career off showing love to
- 42:43Speaker 1: those fans, right and until this day, those fans are
- 42:48Speaker 1: very still supportive. Man. And that's the Bay areas Chitlin
- 42:51Speaker 1: circuit where they go out, because yeah, that's real. It's
- 42:55Speaker 1: like you get kind of that whole. You can go
- 42:57Speaker 1: to Boise, you can go tour, you go from from
- 42:59Speaker 1: Seattle to San Diego, and then we jump over because
- 43:03Speaker 1: of course we go to Arizona, we go Boise and
- 43:06Speaker 1: from that area, that whole little that Chitland circuit, a
- 43:10Speaker 1: bay area and artists can make a living and now
- 43:15Speaker 1: too and a good one and LA artists. It's the same,
- 43:18Speaker 1: most definitely, most definitely because the sound is similar. Yeah,
- 43:20Speaker 1: because the LA shit, Like I'll notice, like guys like
- 43:23Speaker 1: you know, I'm always trying to talk to some of
- 43:25Speaker 1: my friends and be like, hey, you know, like how
- 43:26Speaker 1: do we get past get you past Arizona or get
- 43:29Speaker 1: you past Albuquerque? Right? You know what I mean? Because
- 43:31Speaker 1: that's really the key kid named Kaitlyn for Real, for
- 43:33Speaker 1: real did a good job because he just moved to
- 43:35Speaker 1: Atlanta for like a year. He went crazy when he
- 43:37Speaker 1: came to the Bay. Yeah, so like, but he went
- 43:39Speaker 1: to the South and try to break there first, and
- 43:43Speaker 1: it kind of worked in his favor because you know,
- 43:45Speaker 1: now he can go to Atlanta and do a show.
- 43:46Speaker 1: But I do think that chitpland circuit is a real
- 43:49Speaker 1: thing you have. You have to tap into the chitpland
- 43:51Speaker 1: circuit because something that people lack nowadays that they allow
- 43:55Speaker 1: social media to confuse them into thinking just because you
- 43:58Speaker 1: have followers that you have fans. True, and that's a
- 44:01Speaker 1: different fans break bread to buy the shirt. Followers kind
- 44:05Speaker 1: of like nosy neighbors. Your followers are the people that
- 44:08Speaker 1: just want to look and they peak through the window.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Thet won't. But the difference between followers and fans are
- 44:14Speaker 1: those fans are going to say, dude, I'm going I
- 44:16Speaker 1: want I want that picture, I want to be I
- 44:18Speaker 1: want that autograph, I need period of tattoo. By the way,
- 44:22Speaker 1: hey listen right, you know I need that, you know,
- 44:24Speaker 1: And then that fan is they're going to subscribe to
- 44:27Speaker 1: your tribe, and that's how you become successful. That's how
- 44:30Speaker 1: somebody passed the Mississippi may have never heard of mister
- 44:34Speaker 1: Fab or past the Rockies may not have never heard
- 44:37Speaker 1: of mister Fab. But you come to our area and
- 44:40Speaker 1: you're like, wow, you you have all of these entities
- 44:44Speaker 1: and you have this influence, and you ride around town
- 44:47Speaker 1: and Lamborghinis and Maseraties, you do all of this things.
- 44:50Speaker 1: You know, all of the things that they're in awe by.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But it's because we wouldn't be anything without the fans,
- 44:57Speaker 1: and so our Chiplin circuit is it's very impactful and thriving,
- 45:02Speaker 1: especially if you go out and you involve yourself and
- 45:04Speaker 1: dedicate with them. So why do you think? Uh? And
- 45:09Speaker 1: I might be wrong, but was mac Dre more embraced
- 45:13Speaker 1: by the inner city after he passed or was his
- 45:16Speaker 1: influence recognized more once he passed away in terms of
- 45:20Speaker 1: just kind of like the Hyphee movement and like what
- 45:22Speaker 1: kind of came after his death? Because I feel like
- 45:24Speaker 1: after mac Dre passed away is really when the Hyphee
- 45:28Speaker 1: movement took on a whole new level. And I can
- 45:31Speaker 1: you know, obviously, you can give a lot of credit
- 45:32Speaker 1: to a lot of people, but I think might get
- 45:33Speaker 1: a report card is kind of what brought the hyphee
- 45:35Speaker 1: movement too the world. But like, why do you think
- 45:38Speaker 1: that he wasn't maybe necessarily appreciated as much as he
- 45:42Speaker 1: is now because I've never been the guy a lot.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I'm not like, I've never been a big Mac Dre fan,
- 45:50Speaker 1: So I try to understand that because I go to
- 45:52Speaker 1: the band, I'm like, God, damn it, it's motherfucker. I
- 45:54Speaker 1: went and bought him Mac Dre sodaan Balo. You know
- 45:56Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's a hip hop fan who's never
- 46:00Speaker 1: heard a J Dealer beat, who would argue that Jay
- 46:05Speaker 1: deal is one of the best producers ever. I just
- 46:07Speaker 1: had this kid, cash kid from Detroit, who's from Detroit,
- 46:10Speaker 1: and I said, have you ever heard of Jay Dealer?
- 46:12Speaker 1: And he was like, Oh, what's that? I was like,
- 46:14Speaker 1: so like, it's just like what comes with the post
- 46:22Speaker 1: is people just automatically begin to give you a certain
- 46:26Speaker 1: amount of praise or they contin just because they feel
- 46:29Speaker 1: like And that's unfortunate because I think we just saw
- 46:31Speaker 1: it with Nipsey most definitely, like the world stopped when
- 46:34Speaker 1: Nipsey died and it was like where were these people
- 46:36Speaker 1: that when Nips was alive? For sure, like you know,
- 46:39Speaker 1: now give it credit that there were a lot of
- 46:40Speaker 1: people that loved Nip for sure, But was it like that, right,
- 46:45Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Was it like that? It's
- 46:46Speaker 1: almost like he had to to be fully appreciated for
- 46:50Speaker 1: everything he was doing. It's like they're seldom do you
- 46:53Speaker 1: see artists get a chance to receive that love while
- 46:55Speaker 1: they're alive. I think mac dre was able to receive
- 46:59Speaker 1: that in the world that he was in. He was
- 47:03Speaker 1: able to feel that. He dropped the DVD called Trill TV,
- 47:08Speaker 1: and and this is just being in transparency. People in
- 47:12Speaker 1: Oakland was just like, Okay, that's the LAO, that's the rump,
- 47:14Speaker 1: that's that's them, that's they doing their thing. They wasn't
- 47:17Speaker 1: really super crazy Mac dre fans, not the majority. Of course,
- 47:19Speaker 1: you have fans that were already previous fans, you know
- 47:22Speaker 1: in theforemention of what we talked about. But when Trill
- 47:27Speaker 1: TV came out and people was like, bro, this is
- 47:31Speaker 1: how you living. Like Trill TV showed him an effect
- 47:34Speaker 1: where he had g wagon, he had the Platinum chain,
- 47:38Speaker 1: he had the grill, he was like it. He became
- 47:40Speaker 1: a superstar and for a long time, the Bay Area
- 47:44Speaker 1: hadn't saw that. They hadn't saw somebody in the benses
- 47:48Speaker 1: and and the things that he had, the chains and
- 47:51Speaker 1: the watch. They was like, oh, this cut of this
- 47:54Speaker 1: nigga saucy. He like, I want to be him. Like
- 47:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying now, people want to They started aspiring
- 48:01Speaker 1: to be like him. The lifestyle. So that gave him
- 48:04Speaker 1: a level of star power that you know, it was
- 48:08Speaker 1: it was an avalanche and on his incline. Unfortunately, what
- 48:14Speaker 1: took place took place, so he was he was rising
- 48:17Speaker 1: back up on the end and so that momentum still
- 48:20Speaker 1: pushed forward after he passed, and people were just like, bro, y'all, yeah,
- 48:24Speaker 1: y'all seeing that, but y'all didn't get a chance to
- 48:25Speaker 1: see it. So it became folklore. It was urban folklore.
- 48:29Speaker 1: It was like y'all didn't get a chance to see it. Yep,
- 48:32Speaker 1: we was there, like we saw Like people tell you
- 48:36Speaker 1: their stories of his star power. You know what I'm saying.
- 48:39Speaker 1: It's like, you know, Jesus, people's got to talking about
- 48:41Speaker 1: We don't know if those stories were true. It's like, man,
- 48:43Speaker 1: he touched it in Man and cure leprosy man. And
- 48:46Speaker 1: when he took the bread and cut the fish up
- 48:48Speaker 1: and fed everybody, it was like, you know, the folklore
- 48:51Speaker 1: begins to expand, and so that's what it was with
- 48:54Speaker 1: dre But if you asked me, was he able to
- 48:56Speaker 1: feel or smell those roses? I do believe that he
- 49:00Speaker 1: was because he was able to see his impact and
- 49:03Speaker 1: how impactful that it was becoming in his resurgence. And
- 49:07Speaker 1: unfortunately it was cut short forty and Warner did a
- 49:12Speaker 1: hell of a job with packaging up the high fee
- 49:16Speaker 1: movement and selling it right shots a little John too,
- 49:19Speaker 1: the most depinely that was all the you know, Warner
- 49:22Speaker 1: Little John TVT forty. They did a great movement in
- 49:26Speaker 1: pushing it forward, and a lot of people capitalized off
- 49:29Speaker 1: of it from you know, monetary perspective. But I feel
- 49:35Speaker 1: like the whole package of seeing it all, if they
- 49:39Speaker 1: would have got a chance to see it all, it
- 49:42Speaker 1: would have been amazing, Like if you would have got
- 49:43Speaker 1: a chance to see too short forty Mac dre Key,
- 49:47Speaker 1: you know, and then the Younger Federation, the Team Fabs
- 49:50Speaker 1: and Turf Talks and all of the other guys that
- 49:52Speaker 1: played a significant role in keeping that snowball going into
- 49:55Speaker 1: an avalanche. I think you would have got a chance
- 49:57Speaker 1: to see it being broader and being more spoke about,
- 50:01Speaker 1: rather than just the folklore of what it was and
- 50:03Speaker 1: what it could have been. Do you feel like for
- 50:07Speaker 1: you being do you feel like right now like everything's
- 50:11Speaker 1: in good hands in the bay in terms of just
- 50:13Speaker 1: the up and coming generation, Because I think a guy
- 50:15Speaker 1: like Simba, who's kind of a young og, it's kind
- 50:17Speaker 1: of like a you know, he's been around l Russell,
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think is changing a lot of the way independent
- 50:23Speaker 1: artists all over the world are thinking about their business,
- 50:25Speaker 1: modeling what it means to be an artist. Like, how
- 50:27Speaker 1: do you feel about the new generation? I love those guys.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I love Simba, I love Larrussell. I actually just did
- 50:34Speaker 1: fab Week, which is my annual birthday party weeks and
- 50:37Speaker 1: I brought drink Champs out to sit down with Larussell
- 50:42Speaker 1: and Simba and other icons like Jay Styling. But you
- 50:48Speaker 1: see people that are transitioning, You see the filthy riches
- 50:51Speaker 1: that are transitioning from an artist to CEOs label. So
- 50:55Speaker 1: He's given a lot of these artists chances to be heard.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Then you have the underground guys that are working, still
- 51:04Speaker 1: trying to figure it out on their own. You have
- 51:06Speaker 1: people like in different areas, every region has they're different.
- 51:09Speaker 1: You got the all Blacks all said cham. You know
- 51:13Speaker 1: those guys that have their fan bases. They're running and
- 51:18Speaker 1: and and and they're working. Man, They're they're working. And
- 51:21Speaker 1: I'm just happy to see these guys. I'm happy to
- 51:23Speaker 1: see these guys. But one thing that I'm super proud
- 51:25Speaker 1: of is, you know, San Francisco. I'm the little beans
- 51:28Speaker 1: and the zay bangs and the little pets, like these
- 51:30Speaker 1: are guys that are doing numbers. Yeah, San Francisco. I
- 51:34Speaker 1: feel like, kind of like musically was like the least
- 51:37Speaker 1: popping city in the Bay for a long time because
- 51:40Speaker 1: we think of the guys who came from Ballejo and Oakland.
- 51:42Speaker 1: But now, like you said, San Francisco is kind of
- 51:44Speaker 1: on fire. By the way, Larry June is also the hottest,
- 51:48Speaker 1: the hottest. There's no one hotter than Larry Jones. I
- 51:51Speaker 1: just gave Larry June a serious bag to do my
- 51:52Speaker 1: nightclub last week and it was it was a good
- 51:54Speaker 1: turn out. Like there's there's there's no one nobody in California.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I'm going to say that that if you put, if
- 52:02Speaker 1: we talk about independent structure, we talk about you put
- 52:05Speaker 1: you say that Larry June's coming, and then somebody else
- 52:07Speaker 1: they're going to go to the Larry June shows. Like
- 52:11Speaker 1: I've watched Larry June sellout shows not only in the
- 52:14Speaker 1: States everywhere, but we were we were in Amsterdam and
- 52:18Speaker 1: he had a show and everything is sold out, like
- 52:23Speaker 1: like Larry Jones selling out shows all around the world.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Independent I want and I want to say this doing festivals.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I want to say this to the to the disturbances
- 52:36Speaker 1: is what I like to call people. As of late
- 52:40Speaker 1: in the past couple of weeks or so, there's been
- 52:43Speaker 1: internet turmoial where people are trying to say that Larry
- 52:46Speaker 1: June has taken Dom's style, Dom Kennedy, and I want
- 52:52Speaker 1: to say this. This is where hip hop becomes our
- 52:57Speaker 1: own worst enemies. Where fans begin to try to turn
- 53:01Speaker 1: on people, or they begin to try to turn artists
- 53:04Speaker 1: against each other, and they begin to create narratives, these
- 53:08Speaker 1: narratives that are false. Both of those guys are extremely
- 53:13Speaker 1: talented artists. Both of those guys have rolled in the
- 53:18Speaker 1: same lane of life We're in California, so we've been
- 53:21Speaker 1: exposed to the same level of culture, just different perspectives,
- 53:25Speaker 1: one from northern California, one from southern California. So before
- 53:29Speaker 1: you guys begin to turn them brothers against each other,
- 53:32Speaker 1: let's be able to say, let's push the narrative of
- 53:34Speaker 1: them doing a tour together, them doing songs together, them
- 53:38Speaker 1: continuing to create and come together, so that narrative begins broken.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And now you can see more people being able to
- 53:46Speaker 1: be employed and taking care of themselves. And it's also
- 53:48Speaker 1: not like Larry June just popped up like Larry Jones been.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I got when we did the record with Larry June
- 53:53Speaker 1: we did years ago. This is like like I feel
- 53:56Speaker 1: like he's been at least ten years after. Like people
- 53:59Speaker 1: o Jamaiko like he was he was he was he
- 54:01Speaker 1: was on tour with Mako years ago, Like you feel
- 54:05Speaker 1: me like like June June is and June comes from it.
- 54:09Speaker 1: June's like a direct descendant of RBL, like this that
- 54:11Speaker 1: he's the child of Big June was in RBL. So
- 54:15Speaker 1: like you know what I'm saying, when you see RBL,
- 54:16Speaker 1: these guys are icons that sold several records, Gold records
- 54:20Speaker 1: at a time where you know, San Francisco wasn't even
- 54:23Speaker 1: getting credited for that. These dudes did that. So this dude,
- 54:26Speaker 1: he's not somebody that he really from it, Like June
- 54:30Speaker 1: is really that dude, like he really from it. So
- 54:33Speaker 1: don't don't create those near it is, man. But Larry
- 54:36Speaker 1: jon Is, Larry June's on fire. Camaya is doing her job.
- 54:40Speaker 1: She's such a masweetheart. And like I say, it's so
- 54:44Speaker 1: many other artists, man, that are that are working, that
- 54:47Speaker 1: are thriving, that are doing a damn thing man. And
- 54:50Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm happy, man, I'm happy to see these
- 54:52Speaker 1: young guys get a chance to make something of themselves
- 54:58Speaker 1: with their talent. That's a that's a blessing man, to
- 55:02Speaker 1: be able to say, you got these guys like Cash
- 55:04Speaker 1: click Bug, he's from Richmond, and man, they on fire. Man.
- 55:09Speaker 1: They like they working and they grind and they doing
- 55:12Speaker 1: their thing. Man. And I'm just I'm just so proud
- 55:14Speaker 1: of them. You got Brotherro who just signed with Little Dirt.
- 55:18Speaker 1: It's a dude from West Oakland. You got the years,
- 55:20Speaker 1: the catos, the lingos, and police blame the head and
- 55:25Speaker 1: not the heart, but to all of the dudes that's
- 55:27Speaker 1: working out there in the Bay Area. Man, keep going,
- 55:29Speaker 1: keep pushing because y'all doing the hell of a job man, right,
- 55:33Speaker 1: for sure, No facts. It's also dorope to kind of
- 55:36Speaker 1: see like a it's wild because I feel like you
- 55:41Speaker 1: can speak to why you think Detroit and Oakland because
- 55:44Speaker 1: I've talked to Detroit guys about this. It feels like Detroit,
- 55:46Speaker 1: Oakland and San Francisco. There's like a Cousins. Yeah, it's
- 55:50Speaker 1: you know, there's a lot of cousins similarities and the
- 55:53Speaker 1: music and the hustle and the game, and you know
- 55:55Speaker 1: when you a lot of Detroit guys very very big
- 55:58Speaker 1: in the base man cousins. Man. It definitely because people
- 56:01Speaker 1: forget too short discovered kid rock facts back in the
- 56:07Speaker 1: day because kid you know what I'm saying, people people
- 56:09Speaker 1: forget that and the high Top so like people forget that.
- 56:16Speaker 1: So the Bay Area and Michigan have always been one
- 56:23Speaker 1: of the same, like you know what I'm saying, like
- 56:25Speaker 1: their cousins e forty be legit or like icons there.
- 56:29Speaker 1: That's why Big Sean wanted to do the record with forty,
- 56:32Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like that that connection is
- 56:35Speaker 1: it's been there, like you know. So it's so identical,
- 56:39Speaker 1: same culture, same lifestyle, the player, won't you know, popping it,
- 56:44Speaker 1: the hustling, you know, so a lot of that. The
- 56:47Speaker 1: market is the same, so Day's loaf. Her first big
- 56:51Speaker 1: market that she blew up in was the Bay before
- 56:53Speaker 1: the rest of the country even heard of her. Try
- 56:55Speaker 1: Me was a number one record in Oakland. In the Bay.
- 56:59Speaker 1: All of the Detroit guys, man, they're they're they get
- 57:02Speaker 1: they get love. Filthy is huge in Detroit. Huge, He's
- 57:05Speaker 1: out there a lot. Like Filthy goes to Detroit and
- 57:07Speaker 1: you would think that he's from there, like you know
- 57:09Speaker 1: what I mean, he's taking his whole crew. Mazzi is
- 57:11Speaker 1: huge out there. Mazzi is huge out there, like you
- 57:13Speaker 1: know what I mean. These guys have crazy fambaus. I
- 57:17Speaker 1: remember I went out there to Detroit and I was
- 57:19Speaker 1: shocked that people knew who I was. I was like,
- 57:23Speaker 1: they're like fat, Oh my god, Like bro, that's crazy
- 57:25Speaker 1: because during our movement we never went out there, right,
- 57:28Speaker 1: so it's like, damn we could. We could have been
- 57:31Speaker 1: over here. Like sat of seen me sort of seeing
- 57:34Speaker 1: me and unc and was like, bro, love y'all, Like
- 57:37Speaker 1: like what I'm saying. I was like, Yo, that's crazy.
- 57:40Speaker 1: So it's definitely the similarities are you know, it's it's
- 57:43Speaker 1: the same in culture, So Oakland and Detroit, the whole
- 57:45Speaker 1: Bay area in Detroit, Man is definitely a you know,
- 57:48Speaker 1: they they stat by side and culture and fans and
- 57:51Speaker 1: so it's dope. Well, once upon a time, you know,
- 57:54Speaker 1: the Bay did have a bit of like a you know,
- 57:58Speaker 1: Drive Records had an office there. A lot of the
- 58:01Speaker 1: music industry was based in San Francisco. And I talked
- 58:05Speaker 1: to Gazi about this a lot, like his mission is
- 58:07Speaker 1: kind of to do his part to try to bring
- 58:12Speaker 1: that energy back and to try to bring people to
- 58:14Speaker 1: the Bay. Like do you feel like you kind of
- 58:18Speaker 1: have that burden on your shoulders too to kind of
- 58:19Speaker 1: make sure like, hey, you know, you don't have to leave,
- 58:22Speaker 1: because I do feel like there is a there, and
- 58:24Speaker 1: like to be fair, a lot of the bigger artists
- 58:26Speaker 1: who come out of the Bay and then move into
- 58:28Speaker 1: LA or they kind of do the back and forth thing.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Do you feel like you still kind of can make
- 58:34Speaker 1: it nationally if you stay in the Bay or do
- 58:36Speaker 1: you feel like it would be more productive to maybe
- 58:40Speaker 1: go to La for a little bit, go to Atlanta
- 58:42Speaker 1: for a little bit. Like it's all about what you
- 58:44Speaker 1: want to do, right, what do you feel is fitting
- 58:47Speaker 1: for you? Some people want to be famous, some people
- 58:49Speaker 1: want to get paid. People want both. Some people want
- 58:52Speaker 1: to be both. You know, are you willing to deal
- 58:54Speaker 1: with the restraints and the constraints that come with that? Right?
- 58:58Speaker 1: Are you ready to deal with? You know, the liability
- 59:02Speaker 1: that you become, that you put on yourself by being
- 59:04Speaker 1: able to have to move around? And can you afford
- 59:07Speaker 1: that lifestyle? You know, and these are the things that
- 59:10Speaker 1: you have to just ask yourself, what are you willing
- 59:12Speaker 1: to do? I feel like if anyone wants to continue
- 59:15Speaker 1: to further the trajectory of their career, they must always
- 59:20Speaker 1: move around. You must always be able to go connect
- 59:22Speaker 1: the dots and other areas demographics and build a network
- 59:25Speaker 1: and learn to be a businessman in that regards. And
- 59:28Speaker 1: if you go to Atlanta, save some rep money, right,
- 59:30Speaker 1: you know, you get a chance to save some money
- 59:32Speaker 1: and things of that nature. And and so it's all
- 59:35Speaker 1: based off what do you want to do? What do
- 59:36Speaker 1: you see fitting for yourself? You see the guys like
- 59:39Speaker 1: Cupolo three to oh four, who's a star. He's a
- 59:42Speaker 1: star to me for like you know what I'm saying,
- 59:43Speaker 1: and to be able to see him. These are the
- 59:45Speaker 1: guys that I tell like leave I've been told filthy
- 59:49Speaker 1: goal Yeah shit, Filthy had the opportunity to be on
- 59:52Speaker 1: Rock Nation like goal goal bro go leave go. Fel
- 59:57Speaker 1: me like you become a shark in the fish bowl
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: like leave go. It's it's nothing wrong with like my
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: aspirations for wanting to be a superstar megastar died years ago.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: And it wasn't like I've settled or I've become complacent.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: It was just like I'm cool, I'm I'm I'm friends
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: with the superstars, you know, and I'm okay with that.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I can call them. Those are you know, those are
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: my guy I could call? You know, could I could
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: call these people like you know, I can, I can
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: pop up, you know, I can have stuff come to
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: the neighborhood and you know, come chill. I could. I
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: could do all of these things with all the superstars.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I get the features and you know, I've never paid
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: for a feature in my life. I got records with
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Kendrick Lamar and all of these guys, like you know what,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I'm okay with that, you know what
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I mean. But to the next generation, if you do
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: want to go take that man, go go move around.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: And that's to any artists that's the artist from LA
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: that's the that's an artist from Consequence, New Mexico. Go, yeah,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you should definitely go. Like you know what I'm saying,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: just just go go see the world, go venture out
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: and go and go network like right now, and I
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: live I live my dreams vicariously through my uncle, Like
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: you know what I mean. My uncle is doing. He's
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: he's a star. My uncle is bigger than a lot
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: of rappers where we're from right now, Like you know
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And so the whole Uncle Hunk show
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: is just like I want to see. I love the
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: excitement sing him with these major artists and then these
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: artists that come like that watch our page or that
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: see us and just be like, bro, I was cracking
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: up watching y'all, like do what you do, And to me,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I live it through him. I get juiced off that man.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: You know, that's super dope for you. Do you ever
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: see yourself retiring from rapping? I mean, as long as
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: the passionate and the loves there. Like we were talking earlier,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I'm sure you're just gonna, yo, just keep keep it going,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: because why not. I'm a writer, so I don't. I
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: don't just rap like you know, like I've wrote platinum
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: and gold records for several artists, right, like you know
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I think that's one thing that has
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: always you know, kept me around the basket. I got
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: that pen, yeah, I can. You know I write for
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: several artists, you know, knowing Lee and those that you
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: were like, oh I didn't know you were, Okay, you
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: wrote that. So so I love this music. And like
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I say, my idols aren't just rappers, like my idols
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: are the Quincy Joneses and you know, the Miles Davis
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and people that have contributed to music in ways that
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: have surpassed just the rapper mentality, like you know what
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I mean. And so I will always stay around it.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I love it, Yeah, I love it. And then you
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: know my hip hop dad too short. It's like fifty
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: eight years old, still on tour Mount wes Moore, still
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: like gross in fifteen to twenty million a year from
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: rat at fifty seven, fifty eight years old, still coming
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: with records still being sought after. What's your favorite two
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: short album? What's up? Guys? Hey, shout out to our
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: family at blue Choo. Man, listen, I know we always

- 1:06:14Speaker 1: you know what's crazy getting I feel like life is
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: too short? Was like I think that was like way yeah,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: well that was like but like cuss words. I just
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: remember learning cusswords by heart as a kid because it
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: was like one of the few rap albums my dad had.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Short dog Like I mean, like I said, that's my
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: hip hop dad. That's the dude who you know, I
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: call pops, who has taken me all around the world
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: with him, who has shown me and his most gorrific
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: way of teaching. He just like someone just told me, well,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: never mind, I don't think I'm probably not someone's gonna
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: be playing too short in a movie or a show. Yeah, symbol, Oh,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: I didn't know it's public. It's public. Pl He looks
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: just like him. Dead on him. It's fucking crazy, dead
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: on him. He got the tooth and everything, the coat,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: the hat, to the back. So he called me. He
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: called me, he was like, big brother, can you put
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: me on the phone with Short man. I just want
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: to show him this little thing. So I facetimed the
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: way all he was like. Sure, was like, oh that's crazy, crazy,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: So and then that right there, like that alone, man,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: it's just crazy. I mean, like, you know, Short is
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: short of somebody who they'll never give him his credit,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: right like unfortunately, it's going to take for him to
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: ascend after this long and for people to really be
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: like damn. He was on Life After Death. It was
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: on volume two any major album. I mean too Short,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Like when I was a kid, I thought Too Short
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: was the biggest rapper in the world to me, like
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: as a little kid, I was like, Short is the
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: only artist and not to cut you off, I apologize now.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Short is the only artist that has a song with
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Biggie Pop jay Z PIMPSI. Yeah, he had Anybody you name.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: He had his Atlanta run like anybody you name Short
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: has records with on their album. First time I ever
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: heard Little John was that he shine Little John. He
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: signed Little John at seventeen and then was so player.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: He let him go for nothing like when the major
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: labels wanted to get Little John, he John was like, man,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: can I get out this contract? And he let him go.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: He was like ohhea, like I'm not do your thing.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: And that's why to this day they have the greatest
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: relationship in friendship. Like John damn there just got him
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: the residency. Short big shoutouts to Short just got a
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: residency in Vegas on a was that taw one of
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: them clubs? Like this is short man like Shortest, Like
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I brag and I talk about him more than he
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: does for himself, Like I'm his voice, I'm his I'm
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: his come on, like you know what I'm saying. And
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: it's just because I don't like the way that the
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: industry tries to normal normalize what he has done for
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: hip hop. Like how many people that you know that
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: you can say was famous as a rapper in nineteen
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: eighty two, It's crazy, Like, Bro, that's forty years, Bro,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: forty one years where he was a known rapper famous.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Really like him and Iced Tea in terms of this side, Yeah,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: like come on, bro, like you see Ice get a
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: star love uncle HEAs that's huge? Why not like one
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: has who has? Just tell me who has done more
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: than two short and hip hop for the past forty years, right,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: it's crazy forty like four And when I just talking
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: about like forty years, I'm talking about this dude got
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: songs with Lady g Go. Like He's like this is short,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Like this is short. Walking up into the Playboy mansion,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I was a kid. He walks up. Hugh Hefner walks
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: up to him and was like, what's up, Todd. I'm like, Bro,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: you have knows you by your name. This is crazy.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Like I'm saying, this is crazy to me, Bro, Like
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: nobody's bigger than too short my eyes man, And like
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I say, man, like even right now. And I just
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: text him and he's like, till this day, Pops, what
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: you're doing? Man, I'm in the studio. MA, I'm in
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: a labbin Like it's like I'm still in Like he's
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: still there, Like this is crazy, bro. So I mean,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: if it's all right, can I bring my uncle up here?
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: What's up? Man? Come here? Man? Were he said, what
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: you want? You want your own got to do his own.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: We gotta do his owne Oh, you want your own interview?
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: So you're not gonna come on? What's he saying what
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: do you say? Oh yo, you want to come over here?
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Come on, man, come on, get go ahead, take over?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: So you took over the show? Oh yes, it's no
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: longer the bootleg. It's bootleg. Ain't nothing bootleg about me.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Don't get it messed up. So what are you doing? Man?
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: I'm doing the bootleg cav takeover by So what's up? Man?
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: First to be done? I have three questions for you?
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: What so next? Serious? Questions? Don't be this could be
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: be funny. Don't mean everything's funny. So are you ready?
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Maybe gotta take my interview serious? I'm ready, man, I'm ready.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Let me get here, let me get back an interview mote?
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: All right? You ready? All right? What so you know
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: growing up in the in the hood or the urban communities,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: however you want to address it. A lot of our
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: kids come up without being properly trained how to have dreams, goals,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: and how to accomplish them. A lot of us we
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: just go through life trying to survive and trying to
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: figure it out because no one investing in us that
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: we can be anything we want to be. You know,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: some people, you know, certain households, their parents really invest
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: in them. They you know, they push them to be great.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: They they're enrolling and all these activities as kids, so
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: they don't really have free time to be able to
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: run around and do other stuff. So what is something
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: that you would some advice that you would give a
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: kid about chasing dreams? Great question. I feel like the
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: greatest advice is never be afraid to dream, Never be
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: afraid to be more than what you are. Never be
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: afraid to venture out outside of the walls that have
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: us confined to our neighborhoods. When we had our project buildings,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: we had that gate, and in that gate, we never
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: thought that there could be life outside of that gate.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: We didn't see a possibility outside of those four corners
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: that we called our hood, our block. It was the story,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: it was the school, it was the turf, it was
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: the steps, and outside of that, we felt like there
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: was nowhere place, no place for us. And the greatest
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: thing that my mother did for me was she cultivated
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: my mamagination. She allowed me to have an imagination, because
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: in order to surpass those walls and those blocks and
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: those corners that we come from, the only way that
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: we're able to fly over them is through our imagination.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: And my greatest advice to these children, to these kids,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: to parents, to big homies, to anybody that comes from
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: our areas, never corrupt a child's imagination. Allow them to
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: do that. Like I told a person on Christmas, you
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: believe that you know whatever you believe in, Allow that
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: child to believe in, saying, allow that girl to have
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: her imaginary friend that she talks to, that doll that
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: she talks to. Allow that kid to, you know, imagine,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: because sometimes your imagination is the only thing that can
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: get you out of those situations. Yeah, because you can
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: become so consumed by what your days, the reality of
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: what's your reality around you, that you that a dreak
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: like something that you would think is poser for you, You
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: You would think that your situation like what won't make
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: it takes you out of the equation of being able
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: to reach those things. But sure, why so serious to that?
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Though I thought you was gonna get over here, I
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: got another question of you taking over his own interview
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: with you. Why are you He ain't sweating me? Why
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: you sweating me? You wouldn't sweating her like this? What's
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: the next question? So the next question is right now,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: you along our journey in life, a lot of things
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: happened that we may not be ready for. We not
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: we may not be willing or ready to take on,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: but we have no choice because it's just what comes
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: with our journey and lives. Like, we don't be able
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: to pick what's ahead of us, right, we only could
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: prepare ourselves to deal with it when we get there.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: I don't like to use the word regret, so I'm
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: gonna say, what is one mistake you may have made
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: in your rap career that you can explain that may
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: give another up and coming rapper some knowledge on what
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: maybe he might not want to do when it comes
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: to his career that may prevent him from, you know,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: maybe shortening his career, maybe making it take go a
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: little slower. Like, what is something What is a mistake
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: that you may have made that somebody else may able
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: to get something out of. It's the difference between confidence
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: and arrogance. Coming up, I've always been confident, right, but
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: sometimes we don't understand that there's a difference between confidence
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: and arrogance. Arrogance is a it's a thin line between
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: being humble and being hubris, and that arrogance is the
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: thing that offends people, and you're intentionally slighting someone just
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: because you may want them to look at you a
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: certain way or you want them to put some certain
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: respect on it. And there's no need to do that.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Like if you're a good person, there's no need to
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: treat anyone bad. Right, just because you got money don't
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: mean that you need to look down on people. And
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: I think in the early stages of my career, I
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: allow my arrogance to override my natural confidence because you
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: can still be confident and still be a humble individual. Yeah,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: because I was going to have an extra I was
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: going to add on to that. Do you think that
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: some people be arrogant because personally they don't have they
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: they're really not as confident as they think they so
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: they really they really try to be macho with they
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: not confident. They try to be machi because they because
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: conveidens come with like a control. Right, you understand mean
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: and it teaches you. I'm confident enough to know that
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: when I come in here, I don't have to be arrogant. Right.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I never thought that I was better than anyone, but
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: I knew that I worked harder, and sometimes that can
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: activate some people's insecurities and then your arrogance overrides it.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: So now they look at confidence. Is Steph Curry pulling
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: up from half court feeling like I can make the
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: shot right. Some people would be like, oh, he arrogant.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: He shot it from won't won't Nah. That's just contidents
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: because when they asked him, man, why did you shoot
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: that shot? And I felt like I could make it right,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: it wasn't. Oh I knew I could make it. I
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: won't want nah. That arrogance sometimes is a sucker complex. Yeah,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: that's what I mean. I'm saying you a sucker complex
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: where the guys that act Keller tough or the females
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: that act Keller most of the girls that be mean
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: as hell be real sweethearts. That's their defense mechaniicanism. So
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: I allow my arrogance to become a defense mechanism. And
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: I offended certain individuals, and I'm thankful that I did
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: it because it taught me the lesson because I wouldn't
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: be able to know. So, uh, there's no regret to it.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: But it was, Yeah, it was. It was a mistake,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: a mistake, you know, and you learn from it and
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: you build on okay, And my last question is this,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: if you had the opportunity to to really be able
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: to do an album, or or or participate or or
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: do anything musically, would one artist? Who would that artist be?
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: And why? Sam Cook? To me, Sam Cook was the
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: greatest artist of our time. It wasn't my time, but
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: just of that genre of music, soul music. Not only
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: was Sam Cook a great artist, he was a brilliant songwriter.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: But something that trump's all of that is at a
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: time where black men didn't own their music, where black
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: men didn't have anything, the black artists at that time
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: would receive pennies. This man owned his own label, He
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: owned his own label, he signed his own artists, He
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: did a lot of things that was he trumped everyone
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: that was around at that time soulful. He was a superstar.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: He was a super duperstar. And I would love to
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: do something with Sam Cook. Man like Sam Cook. To me,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: he was the greatest man. But uh, I love your questions,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: I love your seriousness, and I appreciate, but care for
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: letting us rock man the air away. That was a
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: good question. Let's wrap it up with Let's wrap it
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: up man. Listen the next time I see you. I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: need some of these got hey, hey, listen, we got
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: we got you on the dope air everything, and we
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: would love for you to come up. Man, the next
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: time I'm in the bay, I got I'll be out
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: there soon. We're gonna do. So what what I've been doing,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: We've been doing these things to just help the artists
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: that I'll be out there to watch the Sons eliminate
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: you guys in the playoffs. So what mhm, wow, 'm
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: gonna catch a game, go watch you know, go watch
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Katie come back. If that's the case, we need to
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: take advantage of him coming to see Phoinish lose and
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: why are there do something amazing with him, do something.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: It's still to do the watch party at the club.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: Whatever we gotta do, go to the game. I'll be
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: super excited to watch you guys losen to the Suns
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: in the playoffs this year. I ask your question, do
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you honestly think that Phoenix is gonna like let's talk sports. Okay, okay, okay,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: if Katie is, if everyone's health wait wait wait wait
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: wait wait wait, you're talking about a Phoenix Suns team
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: that we're able to reach the semi conference finals. Without
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: a KD. So now it's an if KD. Well, first
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: of all, we just got rid of Cam Johnson and
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Michael Bridges, who were very important parts of that team. Okay, Two,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: if Kevin Durant is healthy, I don't think anyone's gonna
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: beat us. You know a little something about putting a
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: little extra on top of that a team that was
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: already on fire seventy three nine and nine team adding
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Kevin Durant, So you know you and I were both
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: the same now, Yeah, but the only thing is we
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: have all had a ring before him. Yeah, but that
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: was because Kyrie Irving and Kevin Lover fucked up. Are
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: we gonna use because this shout out to Della Dova
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: still gave step some Hell, let's just be listen. This
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: is just crazy. Yes, we find any way to say
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: to take away. We had a ring before KD and
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: we have a ring after KD. So now is the
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: pressure on? Can I be honest with you? Or the
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: most important and best ring you guys won was last
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: year's ring. No, that's the best ring you guys ever
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: won because there's no there's no caveat or asterisk to
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: that ring. So there's an asterisk to our other rings
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: because of injuriescuse people weren't able to endure a full
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: season and stay healthy. That's our fault. Like I said
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: on the court, last year is your most respected ring
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: you've got. Can you at least agree on that. I
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: love that ring last year? You think it's but do
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: you think it's the most And when it comes to integrity,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: nobody could say shit about last year. You guys were
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: you guys. Nobody gave you guys a chance. You guys
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: won the fucking championship. You played a great Celtics team,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: who are the favorites this year? And there was no
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: there was no shenanigans. I love that ring. I loved
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: last year's ring. I love the effort collectively that the
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: fellas did. We were able to You know, I don't
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: know what it's like to have a championship. I know
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: that's that sucks. That's I don't even know what that is.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I never understand this kind of station. But the beauty
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: of it is I think the ring that we missed
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: out on was the most important to me, which is crazy.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Like the seventy seventy three and nine that was that
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: was heartbreaking. It's okay, because you guys added KD to
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: that team, and then yeah it was, and then you
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: ruined the league for a couple of weeks. Sometimes a
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: loss that humbles you is far greater than a win
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: that adds to your arrogance. Well, I sure hope that
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: we ruined the league for the next few years too,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: with its not gonna happen. Like Chris, Chris Paul's not
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: a winner. Here we go. He's never won anything. He
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: didn't win at Georgia Tech. He did, He's never won.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: He never won in New Orleans, He's never won in
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: LA when he had the greatest duck and mess way
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: what Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. It was Ali you
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Central Lop City the greatest though. I mean for that
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: time an athletic in his prime, Blake Griffin dunking over anyone.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: All you got to do is throw the ball up
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: and you couldn't win. You lose. You come down three
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: to one, you lose. That They had bad injury luck, man,
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Chris Paul will forever had bad luck some way except
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: this year. Somewhere along life. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: The only thing that he did us what he did
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: and what he did to that woman, and how do
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: you feel about how do you feel about? Uh? This
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: is are we can we make a prediction that this
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: is Draymond's final year with the Warriors. No, you think
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: he's staying. I think the Warriors organization know how important,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: They know how important Draymond is. I think he wants
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: to go to the Lakers and play with his best
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: bud Man. I think he definitely wants to go to
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: the Lakers, just based off the fact Rich Paul and
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: his whole management agency team, and you know, and and Lebron.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Him and Lebron are definitely friends. But I would have
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: thought that they'd been to be a best friends after
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: he nailed him in the nuts and cost him the ring.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: There we go, Yeah, who would have thought? And then
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: they're gonna end up playing together next year. It's gonna
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: be Draymond and Dill and ad know what's weird? Ron?
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: If the Warriors don't pay Bob Myers, then Draymond leaves. True.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: If I heard that he might leave, he might go
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: to the Lakers. You know, he might go to the
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: So if I just can't wait for your dynasty to
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: be over, because I have nothing against fans from the
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Bay who are Warrior supporters. But it's these fucking you
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: guys are like the new Cowboys fans. It's crazy. Dealing
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: with Warriors fans who aren't from the fucking Bay is ridiculous.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Like I mean, it's it's it's like it's like it's
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: like John Cena fans. Are you mad? Of course you're
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: a fucking John Cena fan. That's your fucking convenience. Are
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: you more? Are you mad because there's more Warrior fans
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: at the Sun's game? Do you see that that's ten
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: years old? But I listen, Is that a Joe Smith
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Jersey buddy? That's Tyron Hill, buddy? Tyron Hill? Okay, well,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: first of all, Joe Smith was the same number, right
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: most definitely that just lets you know how long ago
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: that was. Brother. I didn't say you weren't a real No,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I'm just saying because I just feel like I have
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: right to talk about this conversation. Regardless of our our
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: dynasty was supposed to be over when we when Steph
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: was hurt and we wants I was excited. I was excited.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: So you want to see us lose? For sure? Why
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I fucking hate the Warriors. Man, that's crazy. How did
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: the Phoenix US Poenix Suns fan established this much hatred
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: for the Warriors? You know why? Because my favorite player
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: is that guy right there, the statue, Lebron James. I
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: love Lebron. Yeah, I listen. The Sons were like the
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: fucking Dan Marley. I love Kevin Johnson. I like Charles Barkley.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I love Cedric Sabalis. I love Wayman Tisdale. I'm a
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: Rayman his wow, best jazz player, Like I'm saying, I'm
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: a real best way Tisdale on the Warriors. No, he
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: didn't play for US. He played for the Suns. No,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: but he wasn't on the Warriors for a little beaten
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: all right. No, so like he was when he was
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: on the Suns. He put out a jazz album. Yeah
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: he did. He played the bass. Yeah. Uh. I love
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: the Phoenix Suns love you know. I love with you.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I love Tom Chambers everything that you got. I can
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: never see myself wanting to see a team just deliberately lose.
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: I don't. That's where you and I are different. I do.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: I want to see the Warriors. January twenty seventh, and
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: you're an Aquarius. How Can this be I'm an Aquarius.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Where are you act like this? I fucking hate the Warriors.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: It's crazy over We're going to continue to sports show.
