- 1:53Heathen ramblings podcast. Good to see you.
- 1:56Good to hear from you today. And I know that when these are
- 1:59on like the YouTube live premieres, I'm usually much more
- 2:03engaged and I haven't been in the last couple of weeks.
- 2:06It's because, my job right now is Very, very busy during those
- 2:10hours. So I don't want to change the
- 2:11premier schedule. I don't want to change the time
- 2:15when these things are, but just know that even though I may not
- 2:20be checking the, you know, engaging in the Live premiere,
- 2:25you know, live chats and stuff that I please don't, don't think
- 2:31that I'm not acknowledging and checking things out in on the
- 2:35backside, you know what I mean? Like after Sir, it's all done
- 2:38and over with. So if you do engage, you know,
- 2:42in conversation stuff during those premieres, it's much
- 2:45appreciated and don't forget to comment or share your thoughts
- 2:48in the, you know, comment section as well.
- 2:51That way, I can go back and acknowledge you.
- 2:54But as always, thank you so much for tuning in today, listening,
- 2:58and, or streaming or whatever from wherever you are and using
- 3:02whatever platform that you're using.
- 3:03It's much appreciated. I got an email.
- 3:08Last week from the gentleman who had a pretty interesting
- 3:14question to ask and it actually kind of fell around a time of
- 3:22the week where things were starting to get pretty
- 3:24interesting for me. So this past week for me has
- 3:28been rather. Profound.
- 3:36I'm not going to go into a lot of great details.
- 3:39About it because it's a bit. It's kind of one of those things
- 3:45where I may talk about it someday one day, but I don't
- 3:49think that day is going to be today.
- 3:52It has to do with my My of course, the spirituality side of
- 3:57things, my my growth, my development as a person.
- 4:02Now I think it'll be a great topic of discussion maybe
- 4:06eventually like I say some day but I'm going to keep it close.
- 4:10Close to my heart as we as we're talking right now and today, but
- 4:16this email that came in when just you know for the sake of
- 4:22anonymity will just say Michael. So Michael who wrote In?
- 4:30And his email read Thor / Odin calling question mark.
- 4:37It's kind of like he's saying is somebody calling to me and he
- 4:42says, hey sorry for the late and random email.
- 4:46He sent this email to me at about little after 1:00 or 2:00
- 4:52in the morning. Last Tuesday, the 15th So
- 4:57wherever it is, you are Michael. No need to apologize, man,
- 5:01because I will read them whenever I can and respond in
- 5:04kind. So you know by the time by the
- 5:08time this airs you will have a gotten a response to your email
- 5:13and I appreciate this email. But he goes on to say yeah I
- 5:17just came across your showcasing my altar video.
- 5:23And wanted to ask you something for those that don't know what
- 5:27he may be talking about. I will annotate in the
- 5:32description in the, you know, show notes the cards, all the
- 5:37details will be in one of those areas depending on where you're
- 5:41watching or listening to this from, for that video that he's
- 5:44referring to. I've done a video or two of me.
- 5:48kind of just showing you what's on my Altar, and You know a lot
- 5:55for a lot of pagans that's a very private and you know,
- 5:58something else that they keep close to their close to their
- 6:01heart. And it changes a lot for us,
- 6:05right? Like we will add things to it,
- 6:07take away things move things around.
- 6:12It's a very living thing for a lot of us pagans.
- 6:16So, the video, he's referring to it'll be annotated up here in
- 6:19the cards and also out in the description area of this video
- 6:23in the show notes of the podcast.
- 6:24So, check it out if you're interested in seeing what?
- 6:27What Michaels referring to He goes on to say I've had this
- 6:31feeling that for and or Odin have been trying to tell me
- 6:38something or get to or get in contact with me or want me to
- 6:46worship them and I don't know how to really explain it, but I
- 6:51feel I've been seeing more crows in places you wouldn't see them.
- 6:57There was a thunderstorm dorm here and not too long ago and it
- 7:01almost felt like the Thunder was circling me and yeah.
- 7:07So I was just wondering if there's steps I should take.
- 7:11Obviously I was watching the video to maybe get an idea for
- 7:16an altar to start with or start to start to make and yeah,
- 7:21definitely probably random and stuff but figured maybe I'd get
- 7:27an answer now. Really sure if this is a thing
- 7:29or if I'm just watching too many movies.
- 7:34Hey, Michael. Appreciate again, once again,
- 7:36the email and the question that you have, this is an interesting
- 7:41topic especially given the series of events that I'm
- 7:46alluding to but not going into. Great detail about that happened
- 7:52last week. you know, so I guess we'll start with the whole you
- 8:04know, is it Thor and or Odin? That's calling to me now
- 8:10without, you know, talking more with you about this or talking
- 8:14to people, you know, more about these types of feelings or these
- 8:19types of encounters. I've read. social media, you
- 8:27know, posts, and Facebook groups, or tweets on Twitter or,
- 8:32you know, different things posted online, whether it be,
- 8:35you know, reddit reddit, sub threads and in certain Heathen
- 8:40re You know, subreddits are whatever, it's all over the
- 8:45unit, where people have an experience, and they connect
- 8:50that experience to something that that is tied to the sacred,
- 8:55to the gods or even to God. I mean, even monthly monotheists
- 9:00have similar things, you know, where they, they see God in this
- 9:05or that, you know, and they place the the sacred in that
- 9:10thing or the other. And so, what you're talking
- 9:12about here, where you, you know, so I see crows in in places that
- 9:18there wouldn't normally be crows or, you know, the thunderstorm
- 9:23that I, you know, heard the other day it was it was like the
- 9:26Thunder was circling me, you know.
- 9:28And is that the gods trying to call to me?
- 9:35So I'm going to go into a little bit generally speaking where my
- 9:40stance is on stuff like this and I'm also going to throw in my
- 9:44own. You PG or unverified personal
- 9:49gnosis to you know give give you and other people here.
- 9:53Some some food for thought, right?
- 9:55Nobody can sit here and in front of the next person and tell that
- 10:00person that the experience that they had was or wasn't Something
- 10:07of a divine. Presence.
- 10:10Okay. Or that, there was anything to
- 10:11do with this with the gods or the sacred, but for the most
- 10:17part, I think a lot of what we are talking about are things
- 10:21that can rationally be explained, right?
- 10:24I mean, especially when you talk about the day and age that we
- 10:28live in now crows, are a pretty common species of Of of the
- 10:37avian variety to frequent places all.
- 10:41I mean, I've seen crows on the beach, you know, I've seen crows
- 10:44in the desert. I've seen, you know, I've seen
- 10:47them everywhere, you know? So to say that, you know, I see
- 10:51more crows where they typically shouldn't be like it just being
- 10:55that they're, you know, becoming more common for your area, not
- 10:59again, not sure where your area is or where you're writing in
- 11:03from Michael but you know crows are pretty Pretty.
- 11:08Common species of bird. The other thing is, you know,
- 11:12the thunderstorm. I mean, I've been in dozens, if
- 11:16not more thunderstorms and I mean, the Thunder does have that
- 11:22feeling of like, oh, you may hear it over here in this
- 11:24direction, but as it gets closer and wears around you, I mean, it
- 11:27feel like it can bounce off of the, the surrounding, you know,
- 11:31trees or rocks, or buildings even.
- 11:34And then give you that feeling like it's, you know, circling
- 11:36around you so on the surface and what most people think of when
- 11:42they hear what you're saying is that That wasn't the gods.
- 11:47That was just things happening in nature the way things.
- 11:51You know, the way nature happens night, you're going to Nature
- 11:54baby, right? Nature going to do, what nature
- 11:57is going to do and you might just be there for it, you might
- 12:01be experiencing it in a moment where your thoughts are may, be
- 12:07focused on the gods and so therefore, your first
- 12:10inclination is to is to thank must be the gods, you know,
- 12:14calling out to me. And again, with, as many of
- 12:18these types of things, as I hear, I am inclined to lean on
- 12:24the, on the side of saying that that's probably not the gods.
- 12:28Now, you can certainly feel the presence of the Sacred around
- 12:34you in others, type scenarios, you know what I mean, especially
- 12:39when there's ritual being done when your focus and your intent
- 12:44is to bring the say, A down or out or within from without, you
- 12:49know what I mean? Like, you're inviting them into
- 12:51that space and so their presence can be felt in those cases.
- 12:55So, a lot of it, you know, you know, a lot of those types of
- 12:57things might be due to the, the state of awareness that were in
- 13:02order, the state of altered state of awareness, if you will,
- 13:08We're we're in that ritual state of mind.
- 13:10And so, the things that me Be happening anyway for everybody
- 13:14else. Suddenly have a bigger meaning
- 13:17for us at the time because we're In that frame of mind.
- 13:21So once again, not knowing the detailed specifics behind what
- 13:26you're saying, you know, if all it is is just you know I go to
- 13:29work every day and I see crows where they shouldn't be normally
- 13:33or where they wouldn't be normally or I, you know, I was
- 13:37in the woods and I was, you know, meditating, I was thinking
- 13:40on this or that or whatever. And all of a sudden it's just,
- 13:42you know, thunderstorm popped up out of nowhere and, you know,
- 13:47that sort of thing. I don't necessarily think it's
- 13:49the God's calling it in most of those scenarios.
- 13:52But again who am I to say that it is or isn't I want to be?
- 13:57I want to be, you know, go on the record as saying that you
- 13:59know, it's not for me or anyone else to say that your experience
- 14:02was not something of a divine nature, right?
- 14:07However, going back to what I said before is that most cases
- 14:10like this are are probably not the gods.
- 14:14And the reason why I say that is because when you really get Into
- 14:21the, the heart of heathen re. you got to look at it, like you,
- 14:31go back to the worldview of things, you go back to how an
- 14:36ancient society live Thrive and survived in in tough times and
- 14:41what they did to secure their luck to secure their, you know,
- 14:49coexistence with the spirits and the forces of nature around
- 14:53them, and how they Define those forces where to, you know,
- 14:59Imbibe into them, a level of sacredness, you know.
- 15:02So in the Thunder there was Thor and in the in the Ravens and in
- 15:06the ecstatic Madness of battle, there was Odin and you know, the
- 15:10beauty of the fields, there was seif in her Golden Hair, you
- 15:14know, and in the ferocity and passionate love of our, you
- 15:21know, womenfolk there is Freya or the loving mother protective
- 15:27beliefs or feelings Feelings are is that frigg energy?
- 15:30You know, and so on and so forth.
- 15:31So you could, you could, you could definitely say that.
- 15:35It didn't this goes, you know, to be said for a lot of
- 15:37different indigenous cultures as well, where they look at the
- 15:41natural world around them and then tie or have have ties to
- 15:46something bigger than them, the sacred, the Divine, the gods
- 15:50whatever. But at the Crux of it, at the
- 15:56heart of it, you know, it was survival.
- 15:58Was preservation of luck, making sure that you survived each
- 16:03season, to live, to the next, to provide for your family to, you
- 16:07know, be successful with your crops and you're and you're
- 16:13hurting of cattle or this or that, you know, look at it.
- 16:16Look at the way Society was like the way the world was for people
- 16:19back then. And so they would they would
- 16:22their their energy was focused their their intent was focused.
- 16:25I think more on that than it is on.
- 16:28Whew. It's thundering.
- 16:29Now that must be Thor or up. There goes a crow that just flew
- 16:33over me, that must be assigned for mode and must be one of his
- 16:35Ravens or something like that, you know?
- 16:37Don't, I don't think that they viewed the world quite in that
- 16:40way. Now, we don't live in those
- 16:42times, right? We're not, we're not back in,
- 16:45you know? Pre-christian Scandinavia or,
- 16:50you know, Continental Saxony or any of these other, you know,
- 16:56very, very old lands that that that have these Traditions tied
- 17:00to them. So, but they are Living
- 17:03Traditions, are they are things that have have lived through a
- 17:06lot of crap, you know, the basically nearly going out of
- 17:13style. Well, almost really have going
- 17:14out of style, right? You know, the the The influences
- 17:18of Christianity in northern Europe and having it become like
- 17:21the national religion of Norway and some of the other
- 17:25Scandinavian countries later on, I mean paganism, all but died
- 17:29out, and it was outlawed in many places Iceland included, you
- 17:33know, you know, you couldn't do that anymore under pain of death
- 17:36or whatever. Since so, you know, a lot of
- 17:40those Living Traditions were We're covered up and lost over
- 17:45time and so what little knowledge we have and what
- 17:48little information, we have of the way things could have been
- 17:50and the way things could have been practiced or viewed back,
- 17:53then, you know, are being revitalized now and revived in a
- 17:56way to bring to light these sorts of things.
- 17:59So, you know, it's I think it's natural for a lot of people,
- 18:03especially newer heathens. And then any of Michael, if
- 18:06you're listening or watching, I don't know if you're new to this
- 18:09path or not, but any new heat Newbie Heathen, whatever you
- 18:15want to coin the baby heathens, there's different names for
- 18:18different, you know, we call it each other different things, but
- 18:22for people that are new to this path and that come into this
- 18:25path. A lot of, a lot of the, the
- 18:28previously, followed religion, whether it's Christianity.
- 18:32That's probably the most popular one.
- 18:33I think that we see a lot of folks coming into paganism, from
- 18:38is from a lifestyle or, or an upbringing with Christian world.
- 18:43Views. What we see happening is the the
- 18:48The world view that we had or that they had coming from
- 18:51Christianity into paganism. They bring that with them.
- 18:54So they they first thing they think about is the gods, write
- 18:58something to replace the god, the singular, God that they
- 19:02venerated before, write something to replace that
- 19:06Supreme Being in the gods of the first thing that comes to mind,
- 19:10right? And, you know, a lot of folks
- 19:13are on and I see this literally every day on social All media
- 19:17sites, you know, Facebook groups and whatnot.
- 19:21Where people are focused so much on the God's going to do for the
- 19:27gods are the God's calling me. I think the gods are calling me
- 19:30guys because this happened right?
- 19:35Maybe they are again. I'm not saying, you know, I'm
- 19:38not here to say that they are or aren't, but I think most of the
- 19:42time what's happening is, you're becoming enamored in some cases
- 19:49with the the aesthetic of Germanic paganism, Norse Heathen
- 19:55re and and whether that's you know Scandinavian Icelandic
- 19:59models or whether it's you know, Continental Germanic, Heathen re
- 20:02or Saxon Heathen re or whatever. You know, the whole aesthetic of
- 20:06it, all right, you know? And and how powerful it all
- 20:12seems you know oh you don't care.
- 20:14You don't kneel to your God's you don't you know, answer to
- 20:18your Gods. You're not, you're not afraid of
- 20:19an eternity of suffering and all this kind of stuff.
- 20:23It's so it's so, you know, free thinking and, you know, there's
- 20:26no rules and there's no dogma and all this kind of stuff.
- 20:30I mean, you know, look, I hate to break it to you.
- 20:31If that's the way you think that he even re is and you're way
- 20:36off, there is Structure, There are rules, you know, and there
- 20:43is on some degree, a level of Dogma, you know, because there's
- 20:49consequences to our actions, you know, it may not be an eternity
- 20:53of in Hell Fire of burning to, you know, an in a lake of fire
- 20:57sort of thing. But you know you are not going
- 21:00to You know, carry out an ill deed and, and not get something
- 21:07that happens to you for for doing.
- 21:09So there, there's recompense there, there's punishment,
- 21:13there's things that happen or that should be happening to
- 21:16people that do these things. And there was law, there was
- 21:19order in these societies, you know, back then and so it's not
- 21:24this just free for all willy-nilly.
- 21:26I'll do it the way I want to do it and be the way I want to be a
- 21:29mean. Yeah, sure you can be that way
- 21:31you can have You know, I'll do. You know, I'm going to even the
- 21:36way I Heathen, you Heathen. The way you Heathen, there is a
- 21:38level of that, right? I mean there is a degree of
- 21:41that, I should say, but there are rules and there is structure
- 21:45and there are things to take note of.
- 21:48So I think again, what a lot of people are experiencing is when
- 21:52they come into this path, and when they find this path, it's a
- 21:56largely an aberration of the aesthetic and the idea behind
- 22:01it, all without really fully. Knowing.
- 22:04The the backbone of it right into the heart of it.
- 22:07Once you get into it all in which you start learning and
- 22:10doing and and you know, there's a lot to learn, there's a lot to
- 22:13read and There's No One Singular place to go to get it all you
- 22:16gotta, you know, search around. Fortunately, we live in a day
- 22:20and age that it's so accessible, you know?
- 22:24There's You know, academic websites that have PDFs of books
- 22:29that you can download for free. In many cases.
- 22:32You can order books online for, you know, in many cases, not a
- 22:36whole lot there. Sure.
- 22:37There are some that are kind of rare unicorns of literary work
- 22:42out there that you're going to drop a pretty penny on.
- 22:44But it's not like it's mandatory it's not like it's a required
- 22:47thing to, you know, read all that stuff.
- 22:51But so much of so much of what I hear when you know when it comes
- 22:54to I think the god Calling me and this and that it's like
- 22:57you're trying to fill in a blank or fill in a spot, fill in a
- 23:01gap. From what you had before
- 23:04somewhere before. So, once again, you know, if the
- 23:09gods are calling you I don't think it's going to be in
- 23:15something that just happens naturally in the world around
- 23:18us, you know, again you could feel inspired, you can feel the
- 23:20presence of the Sacred ground you after doing certain things
- 23:23or while doing certain things. But on a whim, you know, and
- 23:28just randomly like, you know, this crow flies by or IC Crow
- 23:31perched here or two Ravens over there.
- 23:34This thunderstorm, this or that I mean, look, I've had moments
- 23:40throughout the years that I've been here, even where I've been
- 23:44in nature, you know, I've been outside.
- 23:46I've been, you know, congregating with my My Tribe
- 23:49around arvai, many harv a being our sacred grove, our sacred
- 23:54place to do ritual. And, you know, and when The
- 23:58Thunder Rolls, you know, when we hear a thunder storm and when it
- 24:02rumbles around us, you know, that that feels like the gods
- 24:07are closed, or that at least Thor is closed, because that's
- 24:10what we tie him with. We associate him with the
- 24:13Thunder, you know, somewhere out there doing our thing.
- 24:18You know, maybe not even ritual but we're just gathered out
- 24:20there and then and we hear, you know, Thunder in the distance or
- 24:22thunder that's coming through, we're like yeah, you know, and
- 24:27it's almost like a confirmation or affirmation so I'm not again,
- 24:30I'm not saying that what you're feeling Michael is any different
- 24:33than that, but you know, Consider also that it could just
- 24:38be the fact that it's just thundering out.
- 24:41You know, I mean I live in Tennessee and two years ago, on
- 24:47this time of year we had you know six to eight inches of snow
- 24:51on the ground. Last night, the time of this
- 24:56recording, which would have been Monday night.
- 25:02There was a thunder storm that rolled through, you know, and
- 25:04it's pouring down rain right now and it's almost 70 degrees.
- 25:09Very strange times we live in very odd to be, you know, in
- 25:12February and, you know, one year, it's full of snow and then
- 25:16the next year or two, it's almost like springtime, and it's
- 25:20raining out. I don't think that's because the
- 25:24gods are near or not near or whatever.
- 25:26I think that's just the fact that you know, this world is is
- 25:29experiencing some things herself that Rrrr, pretty damaging to
- 25:36its longevity and it's just rough, you know, it's a rough
- 25:39time so could be so very simply something like that, you know.
- 25:45Crows may not be native to your area or have a very high pot
- 25:50number population. Number close to you but things
- 25:54change birds, migrate conditions, you know, are what
- 25:58they are and you know, so you might get more of More something
- 26:04that you're not used to seeing, or have in general, all right?
- 26:11So, Going back to, you know, your original question.
- 26:16You know, what can you do to answer this if you truly feel
- 26:22like, this is something that is a sign from the gods.
- 26:28You know, why, why do you feel that way?
- 26:32What is it about? The thunder aside from pitches
- 26:35rumbling around you like it. Usually does that makes it feel
- 26:39somewhat more. Only you really, you can answer
- 26:42that. What is it about?
- 26:43The fact that you see crows more often than you typically should
- 26:47aside, from all the basic, you know, maybe obvious reasons why
- 26:53that I just mentioned previously, what is it about
- 26:55that? Why does that make you feel like
- 26:57it's You know, one of the Gods, trying to connect to you, what
- 27:02is it about you? That is so and don't take this
- 27:05the wrong way, but like, but what is it about?
- 27:07You individually. And I'll put this question out
- 27:09to anybody, myself included, but is it about us individually?
- 27:12That makes us think that we are assist such interest to the
- 27:16gods. The gods have their own things
- 27:18that they have to deal with and worry about.
- 27:21They have their own Activities. And and and lies that they have
- 27:25to live in their own luck, that they need to secure in their own
- 27:28weird that they need to tie. The hell is one person on
- 27:32midgard going to You know, I do for for them one person.
- 27:37Now, is it possible that one person could have caught the
- 27:41special interest of a god? Sure?
- 27:44Because we read about it in some of the sagas, you know,
- 27:47typically, those people were a renowned, they had some sort of
- 27:49status in midgard. They were Kings.
- 27:52They were Nobles. They were Heroes and they did
- 27:56things that were heroic in kingly and Noble.
- 28:01So, is it out of the norm to think or is it is?
- 28:03is it that much of a Harebrained idea to think, you know, that
- 28:11anything would be different now and today even though we're not,
- 28:14you know, a thousand twelve hundred years ago in Scandinavia
- 28:18and we're not, you know, an up-and-coming you know, king or
- 28:22thrall that that is working his way through King, you know, a
- 28:26kingdom and suddenly has a kingdom.
- 28:28Let you know fall into their lap and they inherit all this wealth
- 28:32and land and they have to defend their kingdoms and they have
- 28:34great sagas written about him just because it's not Not that
- 28:37anymore, who's to say that there are not people now, in today,
- 28:43who do things of equal renowned in different ways and for
- 28:49different through different, you know, methods that are not
- 28:55catching the attention of the Gods, and who the gods would not
- 28:59want, or would we would be hook them to have connections with or
- 29:04tie weird with, you know? I don't know something to think
- 29:09about. So if you are one of those
- 29:11people who is doing things that would potentially catch the eyes
- 29:17and attention of the Gods, I feel like a encounter that you'd
- 29:25have with the gods and this is where it's going to, you know,
- 29:29Venture off into my UPG. I would I feel that the
- 29:32encountered that you would have with a god would be more
- 29:36profound than just a passing Pro or Rumble of Thunder.
- 29:42I really feel that I really feel that the So the sign or The Omen
- 29:48right, that you would get would be much more profound than just
- 29:54a simple happening of nature. It would almost be something.
- 29:58So bizarre and so out of the norm that it's like, nothing
- 30:05like that could be rationally explained, you can't because you
- 30:10can't, you can rationalize and you can make sense of why crows
- 30:16appear more now than ever before in certain areas or that they
- 30:22are just appearing, where they normally aren't supposed to be,
- 30:25you can make sense of that, you can rationalize that you can
- 30:28also rationalize and kind of make literal sense of, you know,
- 30:33The thunder rolling and it feeling like it's circling you,
- 30:36that sort of thing. There's no real way to
- 30:41rationalize. other certain things like perhaps hearing a
- 30:46voice that you know, you only heard but there was no like
- 30:55Audible Means of it being something else.
- 31:01Like there was no TV, there was no radio, your phone was nowhere
- 31:03near by and there was no other person close to you and you
- 31:07heard a distinct voice. Now again, that's you PG stuff.
- 31:10Okay, I'm just saying like Things like that or UPG is there
- 31:15place for that within Heathen? Re absolutely. 100%, you know,
- 31:19it's how we build our Traditions.
- 31:20It's you know, Traditions were built in ancient times based off
- 31:23of experiences that people had. And they said, you know what,
- 31:26when that happens, that's what it means.
- 31:28And that's what our Traditions going to be.
- 31:30And when it happens, we're going to react to it in a certain and
- 31:33specific way. so similarly, in today's day and age, Things.
- 31:43Same thing could apply. I'm just saying that.
- 31:49I believe in my you PG is that if the gods any of them.
- 31:56Have any interest in what we do in the Pro in the in the
- 32:01profane, right? Not in the Sacred Space, but in
- 32:03profane space here in midgar. If they have any interest about
- 32:07what we do on an individual level, then it must be something
- 32:12pretty epic and they're going to make it an epic way to make
- 32:16themselves known to us in that way.
- 32:21So once again, you know, maybe the crows and thunder are are
- 32:26things that that are inspiring you to want to.
- 32:30Learn more about the gods, you know, maybe it's just something
- 32:32that's going to inspire you to do some research, you know,
- 32:36learn the world views of ancient Germanic peoples and get into
- 32:41that sort of approach to things understand. the heart of heathen
- 32:47reading, what what it means to weave frith and what the, you
- 32:50know, even though it may not be an exceptionally old term, but
- 32:53what end Garden guard, the inner and outer yards mean, you know,
- 33:00mentioned for if that's another big one, you know, understand
- 33:02the importance of the gifting exchange, understand the
- 33:05importance of, you know, establishing a good and
- 33:15wholesome, Relationship with the localized spirits of the land
- 33:19and those those forces that exist around us because they are
- 33:25nearby and close. Where's the gods were perceived
- 33:27in ancient times as being somewhere without somewhere
- 33:31else? Not here in midgard.
- 33:33There's there's so much that exists here in midgard that we
- 33:36have to that. We share space with that, we
- 33:37coexist with learn more about that.
- 33:40You know, you can also learn about the gods.
- 33:42I'm not saying to, you know, pigeonhole yourself into one, Or
- 33:46two ideas of thought, but be open a bit about it but also
- 33:49have a method to what it is that you're, you know, capturing and
- 33:55learning. I don't know.
- 34:00So you know what can you do? To answer this first.
- 34:05I think you need to determine. Is it a call?
- 34:09Is it something that the gods are calling you to you?
- 34:10Or are you just, you know, being inspired?
- 34:13Because like you say, maybe you're watching too many movies.
- 34:15I don't know that. I don't, you know, who am I to
- 34:18say that? Who might have think that there
- 34:20are a lot of great movies coming out. and that have come out a
- 34:25lot of really cool TV shows that that embellish a lot on the way
- 34:29things were back then and then make it you know appealing to
- 34:34Bringing a lot of money and make a lot of people rich and
- 34:37Entertain, You know. So there's definitely that.
- 34:42But why not, why not use those types of things?
- 34:46To really study and learn more about the reality of it, the
- 34:51history of it, the authenticity behind it is, it is it just a
- 34:56bunch of who hockey, you know? I mean, all right, they just
- 34:59rewriting things too. Sell tickets or get, you know,
- 35:05ratings up or boost their streams or whatever, or are
- 35:12they, you know, focusing on trying to put something out here
- 35:17that people can learn from and people can be entertained by
- 35:20right. And at the same time, learn
- 35:22something. There's there's a, definitely, a
- 35:24lot of that mix of things around there.
- 35:26So if you are looking to Answer this call as it were I I posted
- 35:37last week's podcast, if you go back through my catalog and just
- 35:41look at last week's podcast, I included a list of content
- 35:46creators here in like on YouTube and and some other sites as
- 35:50well. Just great social media, content
- 35:53creators that are Heathen. That that produce exceptionally,
- 35:57good educational, and entertaining content.
- 36:00Go back and check that out and learn as much as you can about
- 36:05it kind of see if it's something that fits you.
- 36:07If you want to pursue that path, if it's the gods that you're
- 36:10interested in and you know first learn about things that are
- 36:13happening here in midgard. You know how you can be of Worth
- 36:18to the people around you, how your worth is calculated?
- 36:20Understanding what worth means, you know, it's not how much you
- 36:24make, it's not how much you own. It's the worth of that is placed
- 36:29on you by your People, you know, all this kind of stuff, it may
- 36:33again that that goes into the worldview aspects of heathen or
- 36:37you got to you're coming into a religion, which is it is, this
- 36:42is a religion as much as people may want to say it's not.
- 36:45It is may not be organized, religion like the sense of
- 36:49churches and diocese and you know, that sort of thing.
- 36:55But it is a religion that you know, anything that has to deal
- 36:58with the guy God's the sacred, the Divine makes it a religion,
- 37:02you can be spiritual and not have anything to do with the
- 37:05gods whatsoever. There is spirituality involved
- 37:08in this religion, but it is nonetheless a religion.
- 37:12And as with any religion you you are learning about that aspect
- 37:17of it. But in this is a folk way.
- 37:20This is this is The worldview of things that all of this religion
- 37:26was is in. Has been derived, from is as
- 37:29much different than what Western Society has has largely adopted,
- 37:35you know? You see similarities in other
- 37:39cultures. So you know maybe consider that
- 37:44as well look at other religions see you know check out other
- 37:47things. Open your mind a bit you know
- 37:51learn and study. So when you were saying, you
- 38:01know, that this whole thing started with you had to go back
- 38:04and look at the email when we said that this whole thing
- 38:06started with you searching for videos or searching for more
- 38:10information on creating an altar or making an altar.
- 38:15You know, you obviously have an idea in mind to want to connect
- 38:17to the sacred because that's what an altar is.
- 38:20An altar is a Sacred Space that we create for things like this,
- 38:27you know? At least in in most contexts of
- 38:32paganism our altars are Huggers are vaes are Groves in this and
- 38:39that are spaces that we mark off as Sacred Space within the
- 38:45profane space. So it's, you know, whether it's
- 38:48the corner of a room inside of a closet underneath the
- 38:50mantelpiece of mound of rocks, outside.
- 38:55A circle of trees, whatever it might be.
- 38:57You know, something that we mark off and that we set aside as
- 39:00being dedicated to our Individual practice of
- 39:07venerating the Gods, right? Your interest in that your
- 39:12thoughts. And that I have ously have the
- 39:14Gods on your mind. So for the experiences that
- 39:18you're describing to be something where you're like,
- 39:21maybe that's the God's calling me.
- 39:24You're already heading in that direction.
- 39:26You know, they may not need, they may not be calling your
- 39:29just heading in that direction and it's like those are the gods
- 39:31that are on your mind so learn a bit about them, right?
- 39:34Read some of the stories of lore and mythology and get to know
- 39:39what at least was written down, that we know about the gods and
- 39:42their Tendencies, their behaviors are mannerisms, you
- 39:46know, Their characteristics. Their fathers, their faults?
- 39:54But don't neglect the heart of heathen re you know have a
- 40:00strong end and good home life, you know, because Clan is
- 40:05everything. If you didn't have a strong
- 40:07clang and you didn't have anything from there.
- 40:10You have your tribe that gets kind of built out as an
- 40:13extension of your clan in your family.
- 40:16Many tribes make up a community, you know, and in the in, in
- 40:20those numbers, you know, you have strength, learn the World
- 40:28Views about what why people did, what they did back then, why we
- 40:33do things now, the way we do it, why are we looking to the Past?
- 40:38You know? Why do we look back too?
- 40:42Build something now or to reconstruct something.
- 40:45Now and not everybody's a reconstruction is to even, you
- 40:47know what I'm saying? Is that so much of what we're
- 40:49doing now, has its roots in days gone by so those Traditions,
- 40:55those ways however, old however far back, you may want to
- 40:58consider going start it somewhere.
- 41:02So, For me like when I first started in my either, it was a
- 41:06very physical growth. It was very physical approach.
- 41:10It was, you know, how strong I can be how, you know, certain
- 41:15way that I can look. That sort of stuff is very
- 41:21physical, the net and then and then after so many years you
- 41:25know it kind of transition from that into how much can I learn
- 41:30the academic? The mind, you know, what can I
- 41:32learn, what can I study? And I've reached a point now
- 41:38where all of that stuff is still important to an extent but the
- 41:43most important stage of my spirituality, my in my Heathen
- 41:47re and then my practices is now next is the spirituality, you
- 41:52know, the connecting with Those forces around us, that we share
- 42:00existence with. not just the gods but including the gods and
- 42:08you know, a very profound Experience that I had this past
- 42:13week, literally the day after Michaels email came to me.
- 42:20Solidifies what I just said is that, you know, you go through
- 42:23stages in your growth. Sometimes, you know, you got to
- 42:26learn to crawl before you can walk and you gotta get that
- 42:29walking down right before you can run and then eventually
- 42:32you're going to leave dry land, and you're going to learn how to
- 42:36Move around in water. And all these things, right?
- 42:41It's all about growth, like sometimes, you know, we skip
- 42:44certain steps sometimes, you know, I want to, I want to run
- 42:48before I can walk or I want to walk before crawling or, you
- 42:50know what, I want to go swimming.
- 42:54If you before I can walk in and we see stuff like that, you
- 42:59know, we see kids develop in different ways, and everybody's
- 43:02going to develop in different ways.
- 43:04To as we go from that, you know, infancy childhood youth
- 43:09adulthood It's no real straight path with it.
- 43:13It's kind of it's pretty, it's pretty gnarly, it's windy, you
- 43:17know, so Have you been watching too many movies?
- 43:21Michael. I don't know, are the God's
- 43:25calling to you? Because you here?
- 43:27You know, I mean imagine if there was crows in the
- 43:31thunderstorm, I mean, But maybe they are, I don't I don't
- 43:38necessarily get the sense that that something like this is the
- 43:41God's calling to somebody, but I could be wrong again.
- 43:44I'm not the one to sit here to say that it is or isn't it's
- 43:48just an opinion. You asked, and there's my
- 43:50answer. So I hope that this spark some
- 43:54more conversation for you, Michael.
- 43:56And if you want to write in again, just, you know, reply
- 43:59back, and let me know. But I hope that this has been
- 44:02something that you find. Didn't you know, educational and
- 44:06helps you in some way. That's why we do these things.
- 44:10You know, here as of late, I don't have any guests lined up
- 44:14on the show kind of taken a very organic you know approach to
- 44:19this. I had a had a thing in mind you
- 44:22know, where it was going to be, you know, real gung-ho and we
- 44:25were going to have a lot of you know guests and stuff lined up,
- 44:28but I'm taking a bit more of a relaxed approach.
- 44:31I want. I want this to be Enjoyable or
- 44:34not, just for me but for everybody.
- 44:37So, As long as you guys keep watching, as long as you keep
- 44:42engaging sending emails writing in calling in tweeting it,
- 44:47posting it on Facebook groups or Pages.
- 44:50Again you know whatever as long as people are doing that as long
- 44:54as there's an interest and engagement and I'll be here even
- 44:58if it's just me talking through this microphone to you to all of
- 45:03you. So thank you all today for you
- 45:06know, being here and thank you. Michael for writing in and
- 45:10asking a question it the timing of it was so perfect.
- 45:13Right? Because I saw it, you know that
- 45:17day obviously it came in. I woke up later on go into work
- 45:20and Never really put like I saw it.
- 45:23I was like I'm going to respond back to that in the next day was
- 45:25when things took a huge wild turn for me. and then, you know,
- 45:31I got to thinking about Stuff. And I go back and I look through
- 45:34my emails and I go, wow, that, you know, that's perfect, that's
- 45:37a perfect thing to talk about because it hits so close to home
- 45:41for me. Like, it literally just hits me
- 45:43right in the heart, because I've been there, I've, I've had those
- 45:48experiences where I'm like, is this the God's talking to me, or
- 45:53the gods trying to teach me something?
- 45:55Or I'm, I'm looking at something and it's a certain day of the
- 45:58week and how can where it's like we we force ourselves to think
- 46:01that we have to see the gods and everything.
- 46:03And the gods aren't in know everything that you know,
- 46:05they're not necessarily. But when they are man, when
- 46:10they, when they make their presence known, that I can save
- 46:13just out of, you know, again, U PG, just what I'm saying.
- 46:17That my experience. There is no question when the
- 46:22God speak to us, there is no, well, what if it's this could it
- 46:26be that? Nope, it's 100%.
- 46:29Definitely the gods, no questions about it.
- 46:32No, if ands or buts. So you have to think about it,
- 46:36you have to wonder if you have two guests and chances are, it's
- 46:38not it. That's all I'm saying.
- 46:41But you guys think about it. Chime in with your questions.
