- 1:07Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Let's not make this out to be If Bill comes
- 1:13Speaker 5: and goes eight and four, we're gonna build statues of them.
- 1:15Speaker 5: That's what they off.
- 1:15Speaker 6: But like, just to actually see him coach college and like,
- 1:18Speaker 6: I just schematically what does he do.
- 1:20Speaker 7: I'm gonna defend Bill in terms of his potential because
- 1:25Speaker 7: I think he's smart enough to adapt to anything. I
- 1:27Speaker 7: think if you hired him as CEO Walmart, he'd be successful,
- 1:30Speaker 7: So I think he will.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I think that's kind of a people business.
- 1:33Speaker 7: I was told that, I said carry on wrong the bag.
- 1:36Speaker 7: It's a carry on, not carry on.
- 1:38Speaker 5: So a carry on that you would carry on to
- 1:41Speaker 5: an airplane is pronounced differently than carry on. Yeah, carry on,
- 1:45Speaker 5: my bring.
- 1:46Speaker 7: You carry on.
- 1:46Speaker 8: I feel like carry on.
- 1:47Speaker 5: I feel what I'm saying, my carry on. It's not
- 1:51Speaker 5: my carry on, it's it's my carry on.
- 1:54Speaker 7: My carry on bag. Ry Listen, carry listen, carry on.
- 1:57Speaker 7: Carry You put the emphasis on on when it's a.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Verb, my carry on back.
- 2:01Speaker 7: Yeah. But but when you say, when you say on,
- 2:04Speaker 7: our is the same as our No, that's more.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Those are two different, differently different thing.
- 2:13Speaker 3: This is Patriots Unfiltered.

- 2:22Speaker 7: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is is Wednesday
- 2:27Speaker 7: here at Gillette Stadium, a very rainy Gelette Stadium. Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 7: We're getting Noah's Ark type rain today.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Yeah, we need it, you know, at what point? Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 5: I was gonna say, at what point do we need
- 2:37Speaker 5: to get enough? But yeah, it's it's pretty it's pretty wet.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Fairly practicing in the bubble today. You know, just heard
- 2:46Speaker 5: from Gerrod Mao and some captains and Drake May. Nothing
- 2:52Speaker 5: earth shattering, you know, the typical bye week fair. I
- 2:55Speaker 5: was a little surprised. Drake May got asked a lot
- 2:57Speaker 5: of questions about belichick possibility to North Carolina, And I
- 3:01Speaker 5: wasn't surprised that he was asked a question about it, but.
- 3:05Speaker 7: You know, it was like, what was his answer because
- 3:07Speaker 7: I didn't see it.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Well, just you know, obviously you know, Hall of Fame
- 3:10Speaker 5: coach and that's a great place. You know, if he
- 3:12Speaker 5: ends up in Chapel Hill, that'd be exciting and they'll
- 3:14Speaker 5: love him down there. You know, good answer, But like
- 3:16Speaker 5: people realize that he it's certainly possible that he's never
- 3:20Speaker 5: even met Bill Belichick, right, It's not like he was.
- 3:24Speaker 7: Like his coach, right, right.
- 3:27Speaker 5: So I just thought there was a lot of questions
- 3:29Speaker 5: regarding specifically Belichick to North Carolina to Drake, Yeah, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 5: and then you know other stuff. But you know, Hunter
- 3:36Speaker 5: Henry talked, you know, just about some things with the
- 3:41Speaker 5: theme today, I would say, was trying to build some momentum,
- 3:45Speaker 5: you know, for the stretch drive, and it's important to
- 3:47Speaker 5: win some games, to get some sort of validity to
- 3:50Speaker 5: what they're doing, why they're putting all this hard work in.
- 3:53Speaker 7: Yeah, so were you in the locker room at all
- 3:54Speaker 7: A little bit?
- 3:55Speaker 5: No, they're going to the locker room right now.
- 3:56Speaker 7: Right now. So I was just wondering, you know, I'll
- 3:59Speaker 7: ask Evan Induce as well, but like, what's what is
- 4:02Speaker 7: the mood coming back off the buyer guys and energetic?
- 4:05Speaker 7: Are they like, you know, like, what is what is
- 4:07Speaker 7: the mood?
- 4:08Speaker 5: Yeah? I didn't notice any difference with the three player
- 4:10Speaker 5: we talked to, Henry Wise and and Drake may I
- 4:13Speaker 5: didn't notice really any mood, you know, no mood swings
- 4:17Speaker 5: or anything like that. But I just feel like they
- 4:22Speaker 5: they understand that there's still something to play for here
- 4:25Speaker 5: even though they were eliminated from the playoffs, and there's
- 4:27Speaker 5: value in trying to finish strong.
- 4:29Speaker 7: Yep. Do you think there's any value, speaking of value
- 4:33Speaker 7: of Gerard Mayo naming Drake maya captain for these final
- 4:37Speaker 7: four games, any value.
- 4:39Speaker 5: In that he wasn't aware of it.
- 4:41Speaker 7: No, I didn't, Oh, all right, I didn't mean to
- 4:44Speaker 7: say that he did, Like if he did, if.
- 4:47Speaker 5: He did, if it was real, yeah, then I would say, yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 5: there's value that he If he did so much over
- 4:56Speaker 5: the first three months of the season that you felt
- 4:59Speaker 5: like you needed to name him a captain, I think
- 5:01Speaker 5: that would be you.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Know, because we talk about you know, if anything, these
- 5:05Speaker 7: final four games, you know, could be like something to
- 5:10Speaker 7: build a little momentum going into twenty twenty five. And
- 5:13Speaker 7: obviously the best way to do that is win some games,
- 5:15Speaker 7: but you know, playing better the camaraderie of the team,
- 5:18Speaker 7: the leadership of the team, and you know, you finish
- 5:20Speaker 7: off this season. Drake may our captain. He's a captain,
- 5:24Speaker 7: you know, I don't.
- 5:25Speaker 9: And then you go said, if he earned it, Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 9: well that's if you earned the captain part of it.
- 5:30Speaker 7: Yeah. I don't believe he would do it if he
- 5:32Speaker 7: didn't feel he earned it, not just to do it,
- 5:34Speaker 7: but like he's done the things that I believe is
- 5:36Speaker 7: value in that. Yeah. Sure, all right, So this is suggestions, Rod,
- 5:40Speaker 7: if you if you want to take it.
- 5:42Speaker 5: So, but now you're saying two different things, Like we're
- 5:45Speaker 5: agreeing that like it has to be something that he's
- 5:47Speaker 5: sort of established himself, and now you're like, well, this
- 5:50Speaker 5: is a suggestion, as if he's done that. Has Drake
- 5:54Speaker 5: may done that?
- 5:55Speaker 7: I think he has? How do you know I think
- 5:57Speaker 7: he has?
- 5:58Speaker 5: I would have no idea. Okay, if he's like what
- 6:00Speaker 5: he's doing with his teammates and.
- 6:02Speaker 7: Okay, let me let me rephrase it. Then if he has,
- 6:05Speaker 7: I think he should name him a captain. Okay, I
- 6:07Speaker 7: mean I think it would help toward twenty twenty five, you.
- 6:12Speaker 5: Know, Yeah, I agree. I think there's value in that.
- 6:15Speaker 5: If that's something that he has just been such a
- 6:17Speaker 5: great leader that if you can't even wait till the
- 6:20Speaker 5: end of the year, you have to do it now,
- 6:22Speaker 5: I think there would be value in that.
- 6:23Speaker 7: Yeah. Absolutely, So, now I'll turn to Gerard again. If
- 6:28Speaker 7: if if you believe he's done what you know, you
- 6:32Speaker 7: consider captain worthy, go ahead and name him now. It'll
- 6:35Speaker 7: it'll be good for these last four games, you know,
- 6:39Speaker 7: now you can.
- 6:40Speaker 5: See, I mean, it'd be good for like Drake May
- 6:43Speaker 5: and the Patriots in the future. Yeah, I mean, he's basically,
- 6:46Speaker 5: you know, people ask the question, what's this team's identity
- 6:51Speaker 5: Drake May? Really right now, it's Drake May. So if
- 6:55Speaker 5: if he's pushing like you're talking about, that would be
- 6:59Speaker 5: a really good sign for the future that you have
- 7:02Speaker 5: a guy that gets it to that extent and you
- 7:06Speaker 5: and you recognize it, and he's the he's a leader,
- 7:09Speaker 5: and they're gonna and they're gonna follow him.
- 7:11Speaker 7: So so just now this made me think of another
- 7:15Speaker 7: thing because you just said something that, uh made me
- 7:18Speaker 7: think about this. The identity probably is Drake May and
- 7:24Speaker 7: I think you would. You could make the case out
- 7:26Speaker 7: on every team that had a great quarterback, the identity
- 7:29Speaker 7: of the team was the quarterback, going back to Joe Namath,
- 7:32Speaker 7: you know, the identic, John Elway, all these great quarterbacks,
- 7:36Speaker 7: with maybe the exception that in the early days, the
- 7:40Speaker 7: identity of this team, even with Brady was at least
- 7:44Speaker 7: co identity was Belichick, and that might have been an exception.
- 7:48Speaker 5: The first part of the dynasty was defense. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 5: I would say that that was even.
- 7:53Speaker 7: If and we're not saying that Brady wasn't great.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Pittsburgh's identity was defense, the Steel Curtain. Yeah yeah, I
- 8:00Speaker 5: mean it's not always the quarterback, but that's true generally.
- 8:02Speaker 7: I would say. But but but even then, like Terry
- 8:06Speaker 7: Bradshaw wasn't as great as these guys.
- 8:09Speaker 5: But he's a Hall of Fame quarterbacks. One of course
- 8:11Speaker 5: he should be one four super I.
- 8:12Speaker 7: Don't care the defense won those super He shouldn't be
- 8:16Speaker 7: a Hall of Fame quarterback.
- 8:18Speaker 9: Okay, but anyways, differs a different the Steelers identity wasn't
- 8:22Speaker 9: I don't think Steelers to me, the Steelers.
- 8:27Speaker 7: Teams with steel Cam and all that.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why I brought it up. Yeah, I think
- 8:32Speaker 5: that more so than like that just the quarterback. It's offense,
- 8:38Speaker 5: like the Niners is like the West Coast offense with
- 8:41Speaker 5: Bill Walsh and you know Montana, right, you know, and
- 8:45Speaker 5: then it carried on with Steve Young. Like I think
- 8:48Speaker 5: right now, it's not really like an offensive. The offense system,
- 8:52Speaker 5: it's Drake May.
- 8:53Speaker 7: Kansas's Mahomes, The Bills are Josh Allen, the Bengals are
- 8:58Speaker 7: Joe Burrow. If you're a great quarterback, the identity of
- 9:02Speaker 7: the team, you take on that identity, right right, or
- 9:05Speaker 7: you create I agree.
- 9:06Speaker 5: But but but their offense that there are, like Kansas
- 9:09Speaker 5: City would be an exception. Now, But the other two
- 9:11Speaker 5: that you mentioned, Cincinnati and Buffalo, it's offense. Their offenses
- 9:14Speaker 5: are great. This isn't a great offense, But the identity
- 9:19Speaker 5: is Drake May because he's the only thing they have
- 9:21Speaker 5: going for them right now, you know, you know, going
- 9:24Speaker 5: into the future. So it's it's it's a little different. Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 5: it's a little different to have a young guy like
- 9:31Speaker 5: that be the identity. And then I mean number two
- 9:34Speaker 5: is Gonzales, who's a second year guy, you know, so but.
- 9:38Speaker 7: He's such a soft spoken guy.
- 9:40Speaker 5: But it's just a little odd to have, you know,
- 9:43Speaker 5: nothing to really say, well, what you know, what are
- 9:45Speaker 5: you good at? What do you what can you hang
- 9:46Speaker 5: your hat on?
- 9:47Speaker 7: Right?
- 9:47Speaker 5: Nothing?
- 9:48Speaker 7: Really?
- 9:49Speaker 5: You know, they're not exceptionally good offensively or defensive.
- 9:52Speaker 7: Well, and that's the problem with teams that aren't good.
- 9:56Speaker 7: They lack an identity because they're not good and and so,
- 9:59Speaker 7: and you know, Gerond Mayo gets criticized because he says
- 10:03Speaker 7: it's probably going to be more than a year before
- 10:06Speaker 7: I can establish a culture here, you know, slash identity,
- 10:11Speaker 7: which I think he's just being honest. Until you start winning,
- 10:15Speaker 7: you're you're searching for an identity, you're searching for that culture,
- 10:19Speaker 7: you know.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, it's and it's hard because they just
- 10:23Speaker 5: they just, I don't think, my opinion, they just don't
- 10:26Speaker 5: have the horses to do it.
- 10:27Speaker 7: Yeah. So you know, you look around the league and
- 10:32Speaker 7: you look at the bottom feeders, the Panthers, US, the Raiders,
- 10:38Speaker 7: the Giant right now, these are all teams probably without identities, yep,
- 10:42Speaker 7: you know I would agree with that. Yeah, So with
- 10:46Speaker 7: winning comes your identity and you know, cures all everything
- 10:51Speaker 7: that's going on with your team. So that's what we
- 10:54Speaker 7: need to get back to.
- 10:57Speaker 5: It's not going to be easy. You didn't just you
- 10:58Speaker 5: didn't brighten my mood. I'll tell you that.
- 11:00Speaker 7: No, no, but but I think it again. It goes
- 11:03Speaker 7: back to the conversation of if Drake may you feel
- 11:06Speaker 7: he's got those leadership qualities, let's do it. Now make
- 11:10Speaker 7: him the captain. Now finish the season with him as
- 11:13Speaker 7: your captain.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, like I said, you can't force.
- 11:18Speaker 7: It though, No, no, no, I.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Can't force it. If it's that's the.
- 11:22Speaker 7: Big covey, it's deserved, that's the caveat it internally, and
- 11:26Speaker 7: we have not with you.
- 11:28Speaker 5: I'm with you, Like, if that's something that that he's
- 11:30Speaker 5: pressing for, that'd be a great development.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Yeah. So okay, see what your thoughts on there.
- 11:37Speaker 5: But even you know, like you know, big picture identity
- 11:40Speaker 5: you know is different because I agree with you, none
- 11:42Speaker 5: of those bad teams have a big picture identity. But
- 11:45Speaker 5: I would say, like right now, the Giants are just
- 11:49Speaker 5: a mess. Their identity is sort of sloppiness and competence.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Like you know, Dallas is injuries.
- 11:57Speaker 10: Yea.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Carolina's identity right now is they're becoming a party to
- 12:03Speaker 5: get it. They're becoming a pain in the assay. That's
- 12:06Speaker 5: that's kind of their identity is they're not that good.
- 12:09Speaker 5: I mean, it might be the worst roster in football.
- 12:11Speaker 5: We've talked about this during the course of the year.
- 12:13Speaker 5: They've sold off a lot of parts over the last
- 12:16Speaker 5: two years, so they don't They're not coming from a
- 12:19Speaker 5: very talented group. But you look at them and the
- 12:21Speaker 5: way they've played the last five weeks. They won a
- 12:24Speaker 5: couple of games over teams that are like them in
- 12:26Speaker 5: New Orleans and the Giants. Then they take Kansas City
- 12:29Speaker 5: to the buzzer. They lose in overtime to Tampa Bay
- 12:32Speaker 5: in a game they probably should have won. They were
- 12:34Speaker 5: in field goal ranging overtime when they fumbled, and then
- 12:37Speaker 5: they lose when their rookie receiver can't quite hold onto
- 12:41Speaker 5: a potential go ahead touchdown in the last minutes of Philadelphia.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Who's playing as well as anybody in football right now?
- 12:47Speaker 5: In Philadelphia, they're that team nobody. So their identity right
- 12:50Speaker 5: now is that the team that no one really, None
- 12:53Speaker 5: of the good teams really want to face down the
- 12:55Speaker 5: stretch because they're they're scrappy.
- 12:57Speaker 7: Yep, yep. And like you said, Cowboys identity is kind
- 13:01Speaker 7: of like good talent.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Last year, you know, the injuries killed them.
- 13:04Speaker 7: But over the course of like the last twenty years,
- 13:07Speaker 7: talented team that can never do it in the playoffs,
- 13:10Speaker 7: you know, and they earn that, they earn that identity.
- 13:14Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 5: So, and that's like a big picture identity. Yeah, you know,
- 13:18Speaker 5: if you're going like year to year, you know, like
- 13:21Speaker 5: you know, Chicago's identity, you know, like they lost the
- 13:23Speaker 5: coach then you know, the quarterback is kind of you know,
- 13:28Speaker 5: trying to learn by himself because he has no guidance
- 13:30Speaker 5: that you know, and it's it's a work in progress.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Like what is the Patriot's identity?
- 13:35Speaker 7: Well, if you're going to talk about it in those terms,
- 13:37Speaker 7: the identity that's your perception right now is the perception
- 13:42Speaker 7: of your team is your identity right now. And the
- 13:44Speaker 7: perception of the team is it's not a well coached team.
- 13:48Speaker 7: That's what people are saying. And why they're not doing
- 13:53Speaker 7: well is because I think it's you know, and honestly,
- 13:58Speaker 7: it has to do with their roster as well. But
- 14:00Speaker 7: I think I think the perception out there that's being
- 14:03Speaker 7: given to the Patriots has to do with leadership.
- 14:06Speaker 5: Yeah. And you know one of the things that I
- 14:08Speaker 5: know that that bugs you yesterday because you mentioned it
- 14:10Speaker 5: about you know, the Greg Bodard stuff that was circulating
- 14:14Speaker 5: and I'm like, I said, I can't read that stuff.
- 14:17Speaker 5: So I don't know exactly what he wrote.
- 14:19Speaker 7: Well, he was on your show for he talked about it.
- 14:21Speaker 5: I wasn't there, so know no, but pl I'm here,
- 14:24Speaker 5: wor's on your internet, It's on my internet.
- 14:28Speaker 7: Felder had a whole segment where all he did was
- 14:30Speaker 7: ask him about that report, and and Pepper wrim with
- 14:33Speaker 7: questions about the report.
- 14:34Speaker 5: So there was a question. Karen Grigian asked Gerard a
- 14:39Speaker 5: question I took from that about, you know, on that
- 14:43Speaker 5: topic based on and I think she asked, do you
- 14:47Speaker 5: feel like you're being evaluated in these last four games?
- 14:50Speaker 5: I think that's how she asked it, and he just said,
- 14:52Speaker 5: you know, we're all we're all being evaluated.
- 14:53Speaker 7: Good question was that he should It.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Wasn't you know, are you coaching for your job? It
- 14:57Speaker 5: wasn't like this big oh, got youa kind of question,
- 15:01Speaker 5: solid professional reporter question, and he answered it, I think
- 15:05Speaker 5: we're all being evaluated. And that was it, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 5: no long wind answer, just straight to the point. But
- 15:13Speaker 5: the straight to the point part kind of struck me
- 15:15Speaker 5: because my guess is he was like you and kind
- 15:18Speaker 5: of annoyed with all that noise yesterday that you're talking about.
- 15:22Speaker 7: I like, if I'm reading the b and I'm assuming
- 15:26Speaker 7: it's all true, who are these people in the organization
- 15:30Speaker 7: that are saying this stuff? Because he cites several people
- 15:34Speaker 7: within the organization, right, Who the hell is he talking about?
- 15:37Speaker 5: Right? It's like, and I know we don't want to
- 15:39Speaker 5: take this into a Red Sox thing, but like, I
- 15:41Speaker 5: don't know if you've been paying attention to any of
- 15:42Speaker 5: this free agent stuff.
- 15:44Speaker 7: I know the Red Sox didn't get any.
- 15:45Speaker 5: No Well, supposedly they're interested in getting Alex Bregmant. And
- 15:48Speaker 5: now there's a story that Sean McAdam, you know, another
- 15:52Speaker 5: well respected reporter, longtime Red Sox guy. He says that
- 15:56Speaker 5: Sam Kennedy and Alex Cora the are in favor of it,
- 16:00Speaker 5: but Craig Breslow, the New GM is not well. I
- 16:05Speaker 5: don't think he's making that up. Someone's telling him that.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Why would someone tell somebody, you know, someone outside the
- 16:12Speaker 5: organization that people are split in the organization.
- 16:15Speaker 7: Unless he's talked to all three and they told him
- 16:17Speaker 7: himself themselves.
- 16:18Speaker 5: But you know, I just like, it's it's just bad
- 16:21Speaker 5: to not appear to be on the same page.
- 16:24Speaker 7: Yeah, who are these I don't know. It's just it's
- 16:30Speaker 7: just not good. It's not good to have this type of.
- 16:34Speaker 5: It's not been good.
- 16:35Speaker 7: It's not good right now.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Not good.
- 16:37Speaker 7: Yeah, it's this this back channel stuff. And listen, I
- 16:41Speaker 7: do I think Do I think Mayo's being evaluated? Absolutely?
- 16:45Speaker 7: Of course he is. Of course he is. Everybody on
- 16:50Speaker 7: the squad is being evaluated, coaches, players, front office.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I think that based on what you're talking about, Bard
- 17:02Speaker 5: is saying more than they're being evaluated.
- 17:04Speaker 7: Oh yeah, that's yeah. But but like I said, I
- 17:08Speaker 7: might have said it on the show or made I
- 17:10Speaker 7: don't think it's a headline that if Robert Kraft comes
- 17:13Speaker 7: to the realization that he made the wrong choice, that
- 17:16Speaker 7: he wouldn't hesitate.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Well, what you're you're telling me? The stuff that Bdard
- 17:20Speaker 5: said yesterday was if he if they don't play well,
- 17:24Speaker 5: down the show stretch.
- 17:25Speaker 7: He could go.
- 17:27Speaker 5: No, that's I mean, that's what's on Twitter. I like
- 17:31Speaker 5: I said, I don't read it because I can't. I
- 17:32Speaker 5: can't read behind it because.
- 17:33Speaker 7: I think, Yeah, to me, that's taking it to the
- 17:36Speaker 7: next step. That's not what Baguards necessarily saying.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Okay, well that's the way it's I know written about.
- 17:41Speaker 7: I know he said if.
- 17:42Speaker 5: They get blown out down the stretch and they don't play.
- 17:46Speaker 7: Well, well, no, that's different. He could go.
- 17:48Speaker 5: That's he didn't say he would go.
- 17:50Speaker 7: He said he could he could go. He could go.
- 17:52Speaker 7: What's anything can happen. I don't think I'm I'm I
- 17:56Speaker 7: don't think I'm here to tell you Gerardmeyo is going
- 17:58Speaker 7: to be the head coach of the Patriots in twenty
- 17:59Speaker 7: twenty five.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not as strong as you, but I feel this.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I feel similar. I'm just not willing to say, like
- 18:04Speaker 5: this is what's going to happen.
- 18:05Speaker 7: But at the same time, yes, he is being evaluated,
- 18:08Speaker 7: just like every position coaches, every coordinator is.
- 18:12Speaker 5: He has no chance to go, what's the evaluation.
- 18:15Speaker 7: Because it's all part of the picture. After you know
- 18:17Speaker 7: two years, you don't throw away the frist. It's all
- 18:19Speaker 7: part of the overall evaluation. Everybody gets evaluated every year.
- 18:23Speaker 7: How'd you do? But the evaluation you need to approve,
- 18:26Speaker 7: like what are your strengths, what are your weaknesses? After
- 18:29Speaker 7: one year, like what do you need to work on?
- 18:32Speaker 5: So this is nothing different. Then this is just regular, right,
- 18:35Speaker 5: So you're not putting any stock in this report at all?
- 18:39Speaker 7: No, not really, I'm kind of with you.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I just want to see if I could start
- 18:43Speaker 5: an argument.
- 18:43Speaker 7: I couldn't because now you say, oh yeah, after ten years,
- 18:47Speaker 7: I don't think Belichick got evaluated every year.
- 18:49Speaker 5: No, but like everything you do is evaluated. But I
- 18:53Speaker 5: like saying it's evaluated as his job security. You're saying
- 18:57Speaker 5: it's just a valuation, yes, And I kind of agree
- 19:00Speaker 5: with you. I don't think. I don't think there's more
- 19:02Speaker 5: than a one percent chance that he's not the coach
- 19:04Speaker 5: next year, right, I really don't.
- 19:06Speaker 7: Right.
- 19:07Speaker 5: I don't like to say zero because every time I do,
- 19:09Speaker 5: I end up with my foot in my mouth.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Yeah, so it is what it is. I think. I think,
- 19:16Speaker 7: you know, you can take a statement and you know,
- 19:20Speaker 7: turn it into this whole thing, which is I think
- 19:22Speaker 7: what happened.
- 19:24Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know, I thought that Gerard's answer was
- 19:29Speaker 5: the right answer. No need to get into these long,
- 19:31Speaker 5: defensive kind of yeah you know, please, No, we're all
- 19:35Speaker 5: being evaluated, were being always and that's the way you
- 19:38Speaker 5: should take it. Absolutely, No one should be too comfortable,
- 19:42Speaker 5: especially you. I don't get too comfortable.
- 19:45Speaker 7: I'm on a hot seat, Paul. I don't know if
- 19:47Speaker 7: you knew that, but I'm.
- 19:47Speaker 5: On the hot You're on the coolest of seats.
- 19:49Speaker 7: I don't know about that.
- 19:50Speaker 5: You can't go anywhere my age.
- 19:54Speaker 7: My contract, even though I don't have one.
- 19:56Speaker 5: We all know based on now. I was going to
- 20:00Speaker 5: say something that would have gotten me.
- 20:01Speaker 7: In trouble, but no, I feel the heat.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Well it's good to feel the heat, not really up
- 20:09Speaker 5: at night.
- 20:10Speaker 7: Eight five five PATS five hundred is the ace ticket
- 20:12Speaker 7: outline podcasts at Patriots dot Com is the email address.
- 20:17Speaker 7: And I just want to remind everyone that you need
- 20:20Speaker 7: to agree to the ferry on. Yeah, you need to
- 20:24Speaker 7: agree to the thing that you got on your bounce
- 20:27Speaker 7: back when you email the show in order to continue
- 20:30Speaker 7: getting the newsletter. So I haven't heard from Alex on
- 20:34Speaker 7: what she's got cooking for this week, but I'm sure
- 20:36Speaker 7: it's pretty good.
- 20:37Speaker 5: No, I haven't heard anything tough, tough, tough coming off
- 20:43Speaker 5: the buy. Yeah, there's a lot like a lot of
- 20:46Speaker 5: Belichick talk yesterday. Yeah, although we were we definitely put
- 20:50Speaker 5: that aside when you had to leave and you had
- 20:52Speaker 5: to go to your meeting, it was like Fred's not
- 20:54Speaker 5: here to save us, So we're going to move on
- 20:56Speaker 5: from the Bell. We heard anything lately on that, so
- 20:58Speaker 5: I have some thoughts. There was something early this morning
- 21:03Speaker 5: I heard some TV station was reporting that North Carolina
- 21:06Speaker 5: had offered him the job. This coming on the heels
- 21:09Speaker 5: of the reports yesterday that said that Belichick had formed
- 21:13Speaker 5: North Carolina that he would accept the job yep, you know,
- 21:16Speaker 5: under his parameters, which include evidently a four hundred page manifesto. However,
- 21:23Speaker 5: I'm starting to think it's all of a I mean, yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 5: like I don't. I mean, it kind of sounds like
- 21:30Speaker 5: it's going to happen, So maybe maybe it will. But
- 21:36Speaker 5: I'm wondering, like, to me, this all weeks of everything
- 21:39Speaker 5: that we've all the information that we've learned has come
- 21:42Speaker 5: from the Belichick side, because I don't see what's in
- 21:44Speaker 5: it for North Carolina and based on like Mike Lombardi's
- 21:51Speaker 5: you know, comments and whatnot. I think that what what
- 21:54Speaker 5: Bill might be doing is what everybody's talking about, making
- 21:58Speaker 5: it known to the NFL, like if you want me,
- 22:01Speaker 5: contact me now, or I'm going to take this job, right,
- 22:04Speaker 5: And he's gonna make it look like they offered me
- 22:08Speaker 5: the job, right, But I didn't take it because I
- 22:12Speaker 5: wanted a coach in the NFL, right just in case,
- 22:16Speaker 5: you know, because I don't see why North Carolina would
- 22:19Speaker 5: have said, oh ye, we offered. There was a report
- 22:21Speaker 5: yesterday that he said he would take the job.
- 22:24Speaker 9: So if you're offering a job, But I do, I
- 22:27Speaker 9: do think what's the whole I do well, I do
- 22:29Speaker 9: think the romance might be real in that it's an
- 22:33Speaker 9: opening and I haven't heard of any other candidates that
- 22:36Speaker 9: North Carolina's talking to.
- 22:37Speaker 7: Don't you think that would get out?
- 22:38Speaker 5: Well, they've had a couple that turned him down.
- 22:40Speaker 7: Oh really?
- 22:40Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 22:41Speaker 7: Oh then I stand corrected.
- 22:43Speaker 9: Yeah, so people have turned down the job that Belichick.
- 22:48Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, I forget. Now.
- 22:51Speaker 5: There was one in particular that it was a name, well, yeah,
- 22:55Speaker 5: well known guy. Oh Arthur Smith. Okay, Arthur Smith is
- 22:59Speaker 5: a North Carolina guy, And he said he had no interest. Okay,
- 23:03Speaker 5: that was the one guy I was thinking of. But
- 23:04Speaker 5: I think there's two guys that have been sort of
- 23:08Speaker 5: like North Carolina went to them and they said no thanks,
- 23:12Speaker 5: but no thanks.
- 23:13Speaker 7: Interesting, Yeah, like nobody wants except one person.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I think there's But I think there's a chance that
- 23:22Speaker 5: this has been blown up for Bill's benefit. That's all
- 23:26Speaker 5: I'm saying a chance. I'm not saying that this is
- 23:29Speaker 5: all fake like I think they are meeting. I think
- 23:32Speaker 5: I think the stuff that I think he has talked
- 23:34Speaker 5: to people.
- 23:34Speaker 7: So if you're if you're an NFL team and you
- 23:37Speaker 7: hear this story about this four hundred page manifesto or
- 23:40Speaker 7: bible or whatever you want to call it that I
- 23:42Speaker 7: heard that he had Andy, Yeah, he's updated write it right.
- 23:48Speaker 7: So any NFL team now is thinking, if we go
- 23:52Speaker 7: with this guy, is going to be major upheaval. Do
- 23:55Speaker 7: we want that? Right?
- 23:56Speaker 5: And that's why, like I people are like, oh, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 5: he's letting everybody know that he means business and he's
- 24:02Speaker 5: still you know, at seventy two, he's still you know,
- 24:05Speaker 5: a viable Like I think it's the opposite. I think
- 24:07Speaker 5: he's letting everybody know he's every bit is set in
- 24:10Speaker 5: his ways. He he's always been. He's not willing to
- 24:12Speaker 5: change for anything. He's prepared. We all know that he's
- 24:16Speaker 5: as detail oriented as coach as we've ever seen. Like,
- 24:19Speaker 5: That's how he's won all these games. That's why he
- 24:21Speaker 5: only needs fifteen wins to become the all time winning
- 24:24Speaker 5: his coach right is because of this, because he has
- 24:27Speaker 5: a dossier for every occasion. But I think that the
- 24:32Speaker 5: reason that some teams weren't really interested is because he
- 24:35Speaker 5: doesn't play well with others.
- 24:36Speaker 7: Oh, certainly that's what Atlanta turned him down for because
- 24:39Speaker 7: John McKay was.
- 24:40Speaker 5: As far as I know, rich, but as far as
- 24:44Speaker 5: I know his father, nobody else interviewed him, right, I
- 24:52Speaker 5: think Atlanta was the only team that interviewed him last year.
- 24:55Speaker 5: So now you're getting all this stuff. You know, Lombardi's
- 24:58Speaker 5: telling you how much better the college jobs are than
- 25:00Speaker 5: the pro jobs, and that you know these dorky sons
- 25:04Speaker 5: of owners that run the analytics department, Tony Kahan, you
- 25:07Speaker 5: know that this is because that no one's reached out
- 25:10Speaker 5: to him, and that if they do reach out to him,
- 25:13Speaker 5: they're not willing to just hand the keys to the
- 25:15Speaker 5: entire organization over to him. I think this is where
- 25:20Speaker 5: Bill is right now. I think he's a little desperate,
- 25:23Speaker 5: and I think this is a kind of a a
- 25:26Speaker 5: whole kind of a concerted effort with you know, with
- 25:33Speaker 5: thought like when they're leakags. When have you ever seen
- 25:37Speaker 5: Belichick involved with anything in the media.
- 25:39Speaker 7: Well, it's all new, Paul, but.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Without it being fact right, Like.
- 25:45Speaker 7: Well, that's why I think this, this might happen.
- 25:48Speaker 5: I think it could happen because I think he'll have
- 25:50Speaker 5: no options.
- 25:51Speaker 7: Yeah, because he wasn't on Pat McAfee saying, yeah, you
- 25:54Speaker 7: can't believe everything you read, Pat. You know he's not
- 25:59Speaker 7: denying any.
- 25:59Speaker 5: Of this, but this is this is my point. Yeah,
- 26:01Speaker 5: I think it's all part of a ruse.
- 26:03Speaker 7: Like I think it's well, I don't think it's a rule.
- 26:05Speaker 5: I think he wants everybody to think he's taking this job,
- 26:07Speaker 5: and he wants the NFL teams to say, Okay, if
- 26:11Speaker 5: we don't, you know, we can't wait till the end
- 26:12Speaker 5: of the year like we were going to. If we
- 26:14Speaker 5: want to talk to him, we've got to reach out
- 26:16Speaker 5: to him now. And if they don't, then he might
- 26:18Speaker 5: take the job. Realizing I don't have any options. This
- 26:21Speaker 5: is what I'm saying. I'm not saying it's not a possibility.
- 26:24Speaker 5: I'm saying he doesn't really want this.
- 26:26Speaker 7: So if he turns down this job, I.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Can't want this. He wants to be in the NFL.
- 26:30Speaker 7: Friend, if he turns down this job this week, does
- 26:35Speaker 7: that mean well.
- 26:36Speaker 5: I don't think, you know, we have to see if
- 26:37Speaker 5: it's offered too. I'm not buying the whole.
- 26:39Speaker 7: But if he pulls out, Let's say, let's say he
- 26:41Speaker 7: pulls out of this job this week, does that mean
- 26:44Speaker 7: a team from the NFL has reached out to him
- 26:46Speaker 7: and said, hey, hey, hold on, we can't do it
- 26:49Speaker 7: obviously now.
- 26:50Speaker 5: But I think that's what he's going to lead you
- 26:52Speaker 5: to belief.
- 26:53Speaker 7: Yeah, but he in other words, with the only reason
- 27:01Speaker 7: he pulls out of this is because there's another job
- 27:04Speaker 7: at the NFL waiting.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Well, no, because they all The other possibility could be
- 27:11Speaker 5: that North Carolina is doing this to help him and
- 27:14Speaker 5: they're not good. They're not really offering him the job.
- 27:17Speaker 7: Why would they want to help him? What's in it?
- 27:19Speaker 7: What's in it for him? All they're doing is publicity.
- 27:21Speaker 9: All they've gotten it. I know, But they're holding up
- 27:23Speaker 9: the project. They need to find coach.
- 27:25Speaker 5: But Bill Belichick's interested in the North Carolina job. Maybe
- 27:28Speaker 5: I should found Arthur Smith. Maybe I should rethink that.
- 27:31Speaker 7: Yeah, okay, I can see that there's.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Something hit it for North Carolina. They've gotten more more
- 27:36Speaker 5: talk about North Carolina football in the last five days
- 27:39Speaker 5: than they've had in the last five years.
- 27:40Speaker 7: True, right, A lot of it's not good, but.
- 27:44Speaker 5: No, a lot of people are taking shots at the program,
- 27:46Speaker 5: which I think are a little unfair. I mean, it's
- 27:47Speaker 5: a middling program. It's not a blue blood. We can
- 27:51Speaker 5: all agree on that, but it's a it's sort of
- 27:53Speaker 5: an upper upper tier ACC program. Yeah, you know, it's
- 27:58Speaker 5: it's it's not one of the bottom.
- 28:00Speaker 7: Dwellers in the ACC. Is there good examples of Division
- 28:03Speaker 7: I schools where they're powerhouses in both football and basketball?
- 28:09Speaker 5: Michigan maybeah, Michigan is probably Michigan is usually the answer
- 28:12Speaker 5: to that question, like as a team that can win
- 28:14Speaker 5: the national title in all sports, But that's kind of
- 28:17Speaker 5: a it's kind of a niche because not everybody has hockey,
- 28:21Speaker 5: but Michigan would be one. Texas, Alabama, those teams are
- 28:26Speaker 5: pretty good, you know, Florida has been. Florida won national
- 28:29Speaker 5: titles at the same time. I think in both with Tebow,
- 28:32Speaker 5: you know, they probably they probably weren't as good in
- 28:35Speaker 5: football when they won the national title in basketball.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Is that's going to become less uh uh are team
- 28:41Speaker 7: is going to be less able to do that now
- 28:43Speaker 7: with the NILS because you're spending so much money in
- 28:47Speaker 7: one sport or another.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Well, I think you have different collectives for the different sports.
- 28:54Speaker 5: It's not just athletics. Now they do have athletic ni
- 28:57Speaker 5: L like these these schools do have it, but you
- 29:00Speaker 5: can have it in football. You can have like there's
- 29:03Speaker 5: like like as an example, Andrew Locke recently was named
- 29:06Speaker 5: the GM of Stanford football, right, so he's probably going
- 29:10Speaker 5: to be heavily involved in their ni L, and they're
- 29:12Speaker 5: collective for football. Adrian Wojanowski, who left ESPN as their
- 29:21Speaker 5: sort of Adam Schefter of the NBA, went to say Bonaventure,
- 29:25Speaker 5: which is his alma mater, to be the basketball GM yep.
- 29:30Speaker 5: So it's my guess is he's going to do similar
- 29:33Speaker 5: kind of stuff. So for just the basketball, right, that.
- 29:37Speaker 7: Reminded me of something that does that make any sense?
- 29:39Speaker 7: It does that reminds me of something I wanted to
- 29:41Speaker 7: ask you about the Belichick.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Should I be the GM of Northeastern?
- 29:45Speaker 7: No? No, no, no, well you should. But the Belichick Bible
- 29:48Speaker 7: reportedly included two staffs, one that Belichick would oversee for
- 29:53Speaker 7: coaching and then recruiting staff with it sitting GM who
- 30:00Speaker 7: has a buyout?
- 30:00Speaker 5: Who needs a buyout?
- 30:01Speaker 7: Right?
- 30:02Speaker 5: So I think that's Bears.
- 30:05Speaker 7: You think it's Bear.
- 30:06Speaker 5: He's talking about Ergian Jerry and who used to be
- 30:08Speaker 5: his right hand. So obviously he's at Boston College, right,
- 30:11Speaker 5: so he'd need a buy.
- 30:12Speaker 7: So, right, so Bill already knows who he wants for
- 30:15Speaker 7: that job, and that person's gonna need to be bought
- 30:18Speaker 7: out from his.
- 30:19Speaker 5: That's how I took that, right, That's how I took that.
- 30:22Speaker 5: That word in yesterday, no one talked about.
- 30:23Speaker 7: Somebody else told me, oh no, no, no. He's saying that
- 30:26Speaker 7: it would be such a contract such that if they
- 30:28Speaker 7: wanted to get rid of the GM.
- 30:30Speaker 5: They'd have to buy him out. I didn't take it
- 30:31Speaker 5: that way.
- 30:32Speaker 7: I didn't either. I think it's he already has the person.
- 30:36Speaker 5: I heard Fred I think say that this morning, and.
- 30:37Speaker 7: The person's going to need to be bought out to
- 30:39Speaker 7: get Wallach.
- 30:40Speaker 5: I think John might have said it that way this morning.
- 30:42Speaker 5: I took it as this is the guy I need,
- 30:45Speaker 5: Fred Kersh, and in order to get Fred Kirsh, we're
- 30:47Speaker 5: gonna have to buy him out of his Patriots contract.
- 30:50Speaker 5: That's how I too. That's why I think he's talking about.
- 30:53Speaker 7: And that's why he used the word sitting GM. But
- 30:55Speaker 7: Bears is in a GM.
- 30:56Speaker 5: He's not considered a GM, but I believe that he
- 31:00Speaker 5: is that guy for Bill O'Brien. He's handling the nil,
- 31:03Speaker 5: he's all that kind of stuff. Listen, this is a
- 31:06Speaker 5: new landscape. People are figuring some of this stuff out
- 31:09Speaker 5: on the fly. It's it's it's new to everybody, even
- 31:11Speaker 5: the big schools, you know. I think this is the
- 31:15Speaker 5: biggest reason that Saban decided enough is enough. I think
- 31:18Speaker 5: Krzyzewsky was kind of similar with the portal and everything
- 31:23Speaker 5: going on, and he saw the landscape going when he
- 31:25Speaker 5: stepped down. It's funny when they can't cheat, When they
- 31:29Speaker 5: can't cheat by themselves, they don't want to share, so
- 31:32Speaker 5: they just say I'm all.
- 31:33Speaker 7: Right when they when they don't have the advantage. It's
- 31:35Speaker 7: you know, even playing field right, But.
- 31:38Speaker 5: I do think that, you know, I don't think even
- 31:41Speaker 5: the teams themselves, even these blue blood schools, I don't
- 31:43Speaker 5: think they have all the answers yet as to how
- 31:46Speaker 5: the best way to do these things.
- 31:47Speaker 7: I hear it was like a twenty million dollar.
- 31:49Speaker 5: Cap on it something like that is coming.
- 31:52Speaker 7: Yeah, so that's Charlie H. Baker Baker kind of NC
- 31:57Speaker 7: double A.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I mean, the way it was, the way it is
- 32:01Speaker 5: right now, it's almost lawlessness.
- 32:03Speaker 7: Right.
- 32:04Speaker 5: What's the kid? I don't know if you saw this story,
- 32:06Speaker 5: but the number one rated basketball prospect in the country
- 32:12Speaker 5: is a is a Massachusetts kid, A kid from Brockton, Ajdabantsa,
- 32:16Speaker 5: I think is how you pronounce his name. He announced
- 32:20Speaker 5: that he's going to b YU yesterday and someone says
- 32:23Speaker 5: he's getting like seven million.
- 32:24Speaker 7: Well, like Bill Gates. I don't think he graduated from college,
- 32:28Speaker 7: but if he did, somebody like a Bill Gates could
- 32:31Speaker 7: come in and like just fund the whole program.
- 32:35Speaker 5: Think you think we're going to be pretty good? Yeah,
- 32:37Speaker 5: Phil Night.
- 32:37Speaker 7: Being able to do that exactly, you know.
- 32:41Speaker 5: That's where you're going.
- 32:41Speaker 11: There has to be a limit, you know that in
- 32:44Speaker 11: that like Unfortunately, that's where you're going.
- 32:46Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, all right, eighty five five pass five hundred
- 32:50Speaker 7: is the TPX hotline pot I think I would have
- 32:52Speaker 7: been worth nil podcast at pages dot com.
- 32:54Speaker 5: What do you think I would have been worth my nil?
- 32:57Speaker 7: Are you talking being basedball nineteen eighty dollars or yeah?
- 33:01Speaker 5: Well, I mean obviously we adjust for inflation.
- 33:03Speaker 7: Just for inflation, I'd say, you know, at least fifty dollars.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Yeah, it seems high. He used to get five dollars
- 33:08Speaker 5: a meal. Money seems high.
- 33:12Speaker 7: All right, let's get to the phones.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I don't give anything to play as Paul Perillo in
- 33:17Speaker 1: an NCAA video game.
- 33:19Speaker 7: No, you wouldn't. You wouldn't.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Get a lot of guys out.
- 33:22Speaker 7: Duson Evan will be joining us after their locker room
- 33:24Speaker 7: and practice duties end. So in the meantime, let's get
- 33:29Speaker 7: some of these calls and emails in. We'll start with
- 33:32Speaker 7: Fidel and Tampa. What's up? Fidel?
- 33:35Speaker 12: Hey, how are you guys doing good?
- 33:38Speaker 13: Good?
- 33:38Speaker 12: I actually had two little things. I actually I've been
- 33:42Speaker 12: down on Mayo hire since the beginning, ever since that
- 33:46Speaker 12: press conference. That's funny, we haven't heard a Mayo call
- 33:50Speaker 12: craft thunder since. But I actually think that he won't
- 33:56Speaker 12: be like fired from the team and exile. I think
- 33:58Speaker 12: he could possibly be promoted like they did with Bruce
- 34:03Speaker 12: Arians or Pete Carroll and like brought into the front
- 34:07Speaker 12: office or into the more corporate side of it than
- 34:11Speaker 12: him just being terminated from the team and then possibly
- 34:17Speaker 12: hiring an outside guy. Okay, because the entire process to
- 34:20Speaker 12: me didn't feel like an actual search more than just
- 34:24Speaker 12: like and I know they had been the contract from
- 34:26Speaker 12: a year ago, but I STI don't think it was
- 34:28Speaker 12: the right decision to time.
- 34:30Speaker 7: So in other words, then but in other words, not
- 34:33Speaker 7: to just throw him out on the street, because there
- 34:36Speaker 7: was no fault of his own that he was hired
- 34:37Speaker 7: the way he was hired, but you elevate and then yeah.
- 34:41Speaker 5: I just don't see why Mayo would want to do that, right.
- 34:47Speaker 12: And my other thing was any news on the Tom
- 34:49Speaker 12: Brady statue.
- 34:51Speaker 7: Any news on the top statue. I would love to
- 34:54Speaker 7: see it. It's a good question. I know it all
- 34:56Speaker 7: has to do with scheduling.
- 34:58Speaker 5: You know, it's not going to be at the Chargers game,
- 35:01Speaker 5: but yeah, I think they're trying to figure out when
- 35:05Speaker 5: they can get Tom back here.
- 35:07Speaker 7: I think it's probably going to be an off season event,
- 35:09Speaker 7: probably another unveiling or something like that. Yeah, but a
- 35:16Speaker 7: thank you.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, there's not. Unfortunately fad out, there's no news
- 35:19Speaker 5: on it. We haven't. I know that there was some
- 35:22Speaker 5: thought before the season started that he would be here
- 35:26Speaker 5: as part of the Fox broadcast team for I think
- 35:29Speaker 5: the Miami game, and then it turned out that two
- 35:32Speaker 5: got hurt that game obviously lost to any luster, and
- 35:36Speaker 5: he wasn't. There wasn't the Fox A team right here,
- 35:41Speaker 5: and Brady has not been back to my knowledge since
- 35:45Speaker 5: Brady Night.
- 35:46Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just the two. We just they haven't been
- 35:49Speaker 7: able to coordinate the schedules. But I think the easiest
- 35:52Speaker 7: way is you do it in the off season. But
- 35:54Speaker 7: I don't know what's going to happen.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Ye be interesting.
- 35:57Speaker 7: Yeah, all right, let's get to some emails.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Hold on for a second, let me Oh, he's gotta
- 36:02Speaker 5: he's got.
- 36:03Speaker 7: To move this to me. Then leaning forward, we do
- 36:08Speaker 7: have a lot of emails, and I appreciate that you
- 36:10Speaker 7: should read some. Yeah, let's start with Steve. He's got
- 36:15Speaker 7: some off season thoughts. Oh, bye week thoughts. I'm sorry,
- 36:20Speaker 7: he said.
- 36:21Speaker 5: I'm not quite there yet.
- 36:22Speaker 7: Yeah, he's got four points. First to Spee, stole my
- 36:26Speaker 7: point yesterday. But when I heard the read for carry on,
- 36:30Speaker 7: I assumed it was carrion, you know, like a carrying,
- 36:33Speaker 7: like a dead meat. Oh okay.
- 36:37Speaker 13: Uh.
- 36:37Speaker 7: Two, if Fred wants Paul to have different clothes, shouldn't
- 36:39Speaker 7: he be providing a clothing allowance to.
- 36:42Speaker 5: His employees, just a salary of anything.
- 36:45Speaker 7: I mean, do you want do you want Patriots stuff?
- 36:46Speaker 7: Because you don't like wearing Patriot stuff? I have a
- 36:49Speaker 7: lot of I'll get your Patriots.
- 36:50Speaker 5: I have a lot of Patriots stuff. But is that
- 36:52Speaker 5: a requirement now, because that's always been sort of frowned upon,
- 36:56Speaker 5: like when moron, No, that's on the preseason game, right, Well,
- 36:59Speaker 5: in the preseason game, I have to wear that stuff. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 5: but I don't mind.
- 37:03Speaker 7: I don't mind.
- 37:03Speaker 5: I don't mind wearing Patriots.
- 37:04Speaker 7: Do you want Patriot stuff?
- 37:05Speaker 11: I can get your Patriots that do not want Patriot stuff,
- 37:08Speaker 11: although I could use a couple of Christmas kifts for
- 37:09Speaker 11: other people.
- 37:10Speaker 7: Well, that's not the spirit of it.
- 37:11Speaker 5: You can arrange that.
- 37:13Speaker 7: H Three When is Mike dropping his I Love You
- 37:16Speaker 7: Drake music video?
- 37:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that should be in the offering. Mike has been
- 37:22Speaker 5: more in touch with his musical side lately? Would you agree, man?
- 37:25Speaker 11: I have noticed that I can't hear it, so yeah,
- 37:30Speaker 11: I think that could be coming.
- 37:31Speaker 7: Okay.
- 37:32Speaker 13: Uh.
- 37:32Speaker 7: And finally, I was listening to someone talked the other
- 37:34Speaker 7: day about team identity when you heard about it today
- 37:38Speaker 7: and how it matches the coach Dan Campbell was the example.
- 37:42Speaker 7: I thought about the Patriots, how Mike and others have
- 37:44Speaker 7: decried their lack of team identity. Could it be that
- 37:47Speaker 7: the Pagers do have an identity that mirrors their coach.
- 37:50Speaker 7: Mayo seems to present himself as very corporate and the
- 37:54Speaker 7: team feels very corporate also in a bland monolithic. We
- 37:57Speaker 7: regret the error and want you to know that we
- 37:59Speaker 7: are working diligently to correct the issue. Cable company kind
- 38:03Speaker 7: of way, Someone someone somewhere is accountable, but they'll have
- 38:08Speaker 7: to form a committee to workshop it be safe and
- 38:11Speaker 7: cautious and protect the brand. I'm probably taking the analogy
- 38:14Speaker 7: too far, so just a thought.
- 38:17Speaker 5: It's not No, I don't think it's a bad I
- 38:19Speaker 5: think it's not a bad take. I just think that
- 38:21Speaker 5: what Fred said earlier in the show about this is
- 38:23Speaker 5: probably accurate. It's it's not an easy thing to do.
- 38:26Speaker 5: You can't snap your fingers and just say, well, this
- 38:28Speaker 5: is what we're going to be.
- 38:29Speaker 7: When you lose, your identity is given to you. When
- 38:32Speaker 7: you win, you create.
- 38:33Speaker 5: And I will say this, like because not to sound
- 38:37Speaker 5: all tout Mayo, I will I will say this Detroit, Okay,
- 38:42Speaker 5: it's a great example right now of a team that
- 38:44Speaker 5: really does take on the identity it's coach, right. But
- 38:48Speaker 5: the first year of Dan Campbell, the identity of the
- 38:50Speaker 5: coach was kind of a clown show, right, you know,
- 38:53Speaker 5: so you have to you have to kind of win
- 38:57Speaker 5: before you can get any kind of positive identities, you know,
- 39:01Speaker 5: whether they're tied to your coach or not. But I
- 39:03Speaker 5: understand what his his comparison of Mayo and a kind
- 39:07Speaker 5: of a corporate approach, because I do think that he
- 39:09Speaker 5: does have a lot of jargon, corporate jargon that he uses,
- 39:14Speaker 5: don't you think. Yeah, I think he tries to you know,
- 39:17Speaker 5: instill in the team and whatnot. That doesn't mean it
- 39:20Speaker 5: can't be successful, by the way. I just think that's
- 39:22Speaker 5: his approach.
- 39:25Speaker 7: Let's see. Well, speaking of speed, the Patriots big picture
- 39:28Speaker 7: identity is the team that used to have Brady and
- 39:31Speaker 7: Belichick Anyway, if you had to choose, would you prefer
- 39:35Speaker 7: for the Patriots to build on existing strengths such as
- 39:37Speaker 7: finding another talented cornerback to complement Gonzales, or to improve
- 39:42Speaker 7: position groups that are generally weak, such as offensive line.
- 39:45Speaker 7: Improving the weakest groups makes the most sense to me
- 39:49Speaker 7: because there's so many, But maybe there's an argument for
- 39:51Speaker 7: maxing out specific positions so there's something other than Drake
- 39:55Speaker 7: to lean on in tough situations. Wonder what the Wolfman
- 39:59Speaker 7: would do.
- 40:00Speaker 5: If this is you're talking about, what would you rather do,
- 40:05Speaker 5: like just.
- 40:06Speaker 7: Make cornerback a position of strength on this team or
- 40:10Speaker 7: work on the weakers.
- 40:12Speaker 5: So I have to choose between players at different positions
- 40:15Speaker 5: that are exactly the same, I'd probably go offensive line, yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 5: because that they need more help. But it doesn't work
- 40:23Speaker 5: like that. As you know, there's always a difference between players.
- 40:25Speaker 5: They're never equal, and I think that's the benefit of
- 40:28Speaker 5: where you are. I've said this a million times and
- 40:31Speaker 5: I believe it. I just feel like it's the one
- 40:34Speaker 5: benefit of being a you know, a three win team
- 40:36Speaker 5: is that you can literally take anything because you have
- 40:39Speaker 5: needs everywhere. If the cornerback is a better player than
- 40:42Speaker 5: the offensive lineman, take the cornerback, and now you have
- 40:46Speaker 5: two good cornerbacks.
- 40:47Speaker 7: Hopefully Phil is in North Carolina.
- 40:50Speaker 5: Way Field Yates, I believe came out with a mock
- 40:53Speaker 5: draft today we had Travis Hunter.
- 40:55Speaker 7: Okay to the Patriots. All right? Interesting, speaking of cornerback
- 40:59Speaker 7: Phil in North Carolina? Who Phil? He's been?
- 41:02Speaker 6: He?
- 41:03Speaker 7: I remember you know when Drake may was.
- 41:05Speaker 5: Is he the one that doesn't like Drake May? No,
- 41:07Speaker 5: but he most of the North Carolina guys do not
- 41:10Speaker 5: like Drake may but.
- 41:10Speaker 7: He might or might not have an inside connection. But
- 41:14Speaker 7: he's saying that the board of trustees is meeting to
- 41:17Speaker 7: approve the deal set for today. Announcement is being prepared.
- 41:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that there's a chance that he's gonna
- 41:24Speaker 5: end up taking it, as no one in the NFL
- 41:26Speaker 5: has any interest. That's my feeling.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I think you'd rather saying that it's a done deal.
- 41:33Speaker 5: But thanks for the update, Phil, because I mean sounds
- 41:35Speaker 5: like you may have some Yeah, he might maybe maybe
- 41:39Speaker 5: one of those trustees.
- 41:40Speaker 7: He's at least in the right state. Yeah, so it's
- 41:42Speaker 7: closer than we are. Eric from Lakeville says, after listening
- 41:46Speaker 7: to Yesterdays show, I have two questions for Paul One,
- 41:49Speaker 7: who was Ara.
- 41:50Speaker 11: Are is Fred's nickname for Sean McDermott.
- 41:54Speaker 7: It's not. It's Felger's nickname.
- 41:56Speaker 11: Oh, I think you've came up with it first. I
- 41:58Speaker 11: think he stole it from you.
- 41:59Speaker 7: Really, Yeah, okay, he might have.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got the red the red a, you know,
- 42:03Speaker 5: and he's gonna unders that word already. All right, ready,
- 42:06Speaker 5: he's got the red ass, you know, ari Ari McDermott.
- 42:09Speaker 5: That's what fred Is always called him. And it's a
- 42:12Speaker 5: good nickname.
- 42:13Speaker 7: It's it's well, it came after the win game.
- 42:16Speaker 5: I think it came before that when he got in
- 42:18Speaker 5: the sort of the pregame argument with I think Steve Belichick,
- 42:22Speaker 5: who was lingering on our sideline in pregame warmups and
- 42:26Speaker 5: on buffaloes, like in the middle of Buffalo and they're like,
- 42:28Speaker 5: get out of here, and he was like, all right,
- 42:31Speaker 5: he's all gets wound up too tight when he played
- 42:33Speaker 5: the He doesn't anymore, but he used to get wound
- 42:35Speaker 5: up when he played the Patriots.
- 42:37Speaker 7: And then two when Mike Lombardi was with the Patriots.
- 42:39Speaker 7: Did he pee in your cheerios every day or was
- 42:41Speaker 7: it just every other day? Like so in other.
- 42:44Speaker 5: Words, Now, I had one conversation with Mike Lombardi and
- 42:47Speaker 5: it was not actually hero was when it was at
- 42:50Speaker 5: the combine, Andy and I got shared an elevator with us,
- 42:53Speaker 5: and he said about four or five of the most
- 42:55Speaker 5: ridiculous things that I'm not going to repeat because he
- 42:58Speaker 5: didn't say those to us knowing we were reporting it.
- 43:01Speaker 5: So I just he's been a guy. Listen, He's a
- 43:04Speaker 5: loyal guy to build this There's an admirable quality to loyalty.
- 43:08Speaker 5: Like I'm not suggesting that. I think there's there's a
- 43:12Speaker 5: fine line between being loyal and being sort of, you know,
- 43:16Speaker 5: a storyteller, and I think that he crosses it.
- 43:20Speaker 7: He also has ps email podcast at Patriots dot com
- 43:23Speaker 7: several times and still have not gotten the newsletter. So Eric,
- 43:29Speaker 7: if you will do me a favor, email us back,
- 43:32Speaker 7: let me know that you got the bounce back email
- 43:34Speaker 7: from emailing that and that you signed up that way. Also,
- 43:39Speaker 7: if you email in the past, obviously you have check
- 43:42Speaker 7: your spam or your junk mail. Uh, just do me
- 43:46Speaker 7: that favor as well, but also let me know if
- 43:48Speaker 7: you've got the bounce back email. Deuce is here. He's
- 43:51Speaker 7: back from from the locker room. What was the mood
- 43:55Speaker 7: where the player's friendly to that none of them look.
- 43:58Speaker 4: Like Derek Henry Hey, Mike, what was it like in
- 44:02Speaker 4: the locker room, Hayke, What was it like in the
- 44:09Speaker 4: locker room?
- 44:10Speaker 7: So, Mike, like Taylor Swig, guys are back from the
- 44:15Speaker 7: bye they are how would you describe the mood quiet?
- 44:21Speaker 6: I would say, not in a bad way. It just
- 44:22Speaker 6: seemed like everybody's kind of getting back into the floor
- 44:25Speaker 6: of it right now, getting ready for practice. I walked
- 44:28Speaker 6: out though, as I was coming down the hall here,
- 44:29Speaker 6: I was in back of Cold Strange who had his
- 44:31Speaker 6: shoulder pads on, and it's a big day for him
- 44:33Speaker 6: getting back out there and finally having a padded practice.
- 44:35Speaker 6: So some conversation about that, and uh yeah in locker room,
- 44:39Speaker 6: I'm sure you guys been talking about Bill. Lots of
- 44:41Speaker 6: questions about Bill. Kendrick Bourne hit on like exactly what
- 44:44Speaker 6: we talked about yesterday, where he was like, yeah, I.
- 44:47Speaker 7: Mean Bill's tough man there.
- 44:48Speaker 6: I just say, don't miss class Like that was Kendrick
- 44:51Speaker 6: Bourne's message with don't miss practice, to miss practice for
- 44:54Speaker 6: sure that.
- 44:54Speaker 5: He cares much about class.
- 44:56Speaker 7: Do you think he.
- 44:57Speaker 9: Might be asking guys about their grades as long as
- 45:00Speaker 9: they're eligible.
- 45:01Speaker 7: I heard you missed that paper.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Tony's flunking TV. It's not a line from Yeah, I'm sorry,
- 45:07Speaker 5: Tony's flunking TV. I don't know Blue Chips, come on,
- 45:11Speaker 5: I don't know that can't do it. Sorry, new Fred
- 45:14Speaker 5: wouldn't know, but I expected more out of you.
- 45:16Speaker 6: But otherwise, just talking about the last four games, getting
- 45:18Speaker 6: focused on those, and you know daniel Aqualley saying I'm
- 45:22Speaker 6: a free agent, so you know a lot of guys
- 45:24Speaker 6: here we know where out of the playoffs. But it's
- 45:26Speaker 6: about putting good tape out there and competing and so
- 45:29Speaker 6: we'll see. I mean, I think the last couple of
- 45:31Speaker 6: years you've heard some of this stuff and you know
- 45:34Speaker 6: it's it's it gets hard I think to you know,
- 45:36Speaker 6: really go above and beyond. And I think I'm waiting
- 45:38Speaker 6: today for your point yesterday, Paul, which I thought was
- 45:40Speaker 6: a good one about the injury report. See who's on there,
- 45:43Speaker 6: and you know who's battling stuff, and is everybody going
- 45:45Speaker 6: to be able to go and.
- 45:46Speaker 5: Coming off to buy it should be less of an issue.
- 45:49Speaker 5: But we'll see how many of.
- 45:50Speaker 7: These guys you think have like roster bonuses that come
- 45:53Speaker 7: into play now that they could be thinking about.
- 45:56Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, for sure, you know.
- 45:58Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you know active yeah, active per game
- 46:02Speaker 5: roster bonuses.
- 46:03Speaker 6: I'd wonder about Jonathan Jones with that. I mean, he's
- 46:05Speaker 6: seen his usage decline a little bit, and he's last
- 46:08Speaker 6: year of his deal. I know a lot of guys
- 46:09Speaker 6: don't make it to that deal, that that you know,
- 46:11Speaker 6: portion of the contract. So sometimes I think they load
- 46:14Speaker 6: that kind of stuff and there was is that usually
- 46:15Speaker 6: out like the incentives are kind of reached by that
- 46:17Speaker 6: last you know, year of the deal. They get rid
- 46:20Speaker 6: of all that stuff, and it's just kind of I
- 46:21Speaker 6: don't know, but something.
- 46:22Speaker 7: Look at who would you say in the locker room,
- 46:25Speaker 7: because I assumed you were in the locker room, not
- 46:27Speaker 7: the video.
- 46:27Speaker 6: I did both.
- 46:28Speaker 7: I did both.
- 46:29Speaker 6: I did assess the moves.
- 46:30Speaker 7: Who had re in the locker room? Oh well not.
- 46:33Speaker 6: I mean, it's that's really spread out. There isn't a
- 46:36Speaker 6: lot of group meetings in there. It's really individual, one
- 46:40Speaker 6: on ones. I would say the big thing, yeah, more
- 46:42Speaker 6: hush tones, you know, guys having private conversations. I'd say
- 46:45Speaker 6: probably the biggest piece from the locker room itself was
- 46:48Speaker 6: that Javon Baker has now been moved across to where
- 46:51Speaker 6: kJ Osborne is, so he's now with the quarterbacks and
- 46:54Speaker 6: the wide receivers as well, bringing everybody, you know, all
- 46:57Speaker 6: that that position group together. So Don Kenneth Borne talked
- 47:00Speaker 6: again a little bit about you know, having those guys
- 47:02Speaker 6: close and sometimes you're across the way, you're gonna miss
- 47:04Speaker 6: some of the little chatter or things that we're you know,
- 47:06Speaker 6: talking about maybe getting ready for the game of the practice.
- 47:09Speaker 6: So but otherwise, yeah, just I think everybody's just kind
- 47:12Speaker 6: of back feel kind of like I feel where it's like,
- 47:14Speaker 6: all right, four games, let's lock and load, get in
- 47:17Speaker 6: and you know, focus on these games and try to
- 47:19Speaker 6: pour everything we got.
- 47:20Speaker 7: I know, the head coach was asked about indirectly the
- 47:23Speaker 7: Badard report about being evaluated, where any players asked about
- 47:30Speaker 7: you know, stuff that Badard reported anything.
- 47:33Speaker 6: No, nothing specific to Badar, But I would say, you know,
- 47:36Speaker 6: i'd say again of quality, you know, acknowledging that everybody's
- 47:39Speaker 6: being evaluated, not just here but across the league, and
- 47:42Speaker 6: you know, and certainly a lot. I think it's the
- 47:44Speaker 6: thing that's different this year, and it's it's A good
- 47:45Speaker 6: thing is that they got a lot of young guys.
- 47:47Speaker 6: And you heard that as a recurring theme over the
- 47:50Speaker 6: last few weeks, is these young guys are still trying
- 47:52Speaker 6: to make a name for themselves. They're still bringing the
- 47:54Speaker 6: energy every day. Uh So, we'll see they're gonna kick
- 47:58Speaker 6: it off with a fully padded practice over there in
- 48:00Speaker 6: the waste Innovation's fieldhouse.
- 48:03Speaker 5: Did I get innovation?
- 48:04Speaker 6: Thank you very much. Uh So, they're you know, trudging
- 48:07Speaker 6: over there now and we'll see how the practice goes today.
- 48:09Speaker 6: But I think we will get some interesting, you know
- 48:11Speaker 6: feedback just being a full padded practice. Who's limited. Marcus
- 48:15Speaker 6: Jones wasn't here on Monday. He's one guy to keep
- 48:17Speaker 6: an eye on.
- 48:18Speaker 7: Yeah, cold strange, probably a play.
- 48:21Speaker 6: Right, that's what it sounds like. Yeah, yeah, I mean,
- 48:25Speaker 6: I just you know how we spoke with him a
- 48:26Speaker 6: couple of weeks ago when he first came back, and
- 48:29Speaker 6: you know, he still talked about that last thing is
- 48:31Speaker 6: to have a padded practice, and so you know, I
- 48:33Speaker 6: always I'm always aware of some of these moments and
- 48:35Speaker 6: just you know, he's walking out by himself, he's got
- 48:37Speaker 6: his pads on, no knee brace, by the way, which
- 48:39Speaker 6: I just you know, I don't know, kind of interesting
- 48:41Speaker 6: guy coming off kne injury. I know it wasn't it
- 48:43Speaker 6: was a it was a.
- 48:45Speaker 7: Serious is that I don't know?
- 48:47Speaker 6: Maybe is that not always.
- 48:48Speaker 7: Five brace will really help race? That's because that goes
- 48:52Speaker 7: down the middle, right, I don't know.
- 48:53Speaker 6: Yeah, So, uh now, just a little moment there for him,
- 48:56Speaker 6: and I'm very curious to see how they incorporated him.
- 48:59Speaker 6: There were good questions today about it's not like a
- 49:02Speaker 6: receiver where you can put him out there for five
- 49:04Speaker 6: to ten snaps and get his feet wet. It's like
- 49:06Speaker 6: you're a center, like you got to go right out
- 49:07Speaker 6: there and handle the ball and call it, make the
- 49:09Speaker 6: calls and everything.
- 49:10Speaker 7: So it's a dry heat.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Though I expect to see him at center. I don't
- 49:14Speaker 5: know if he'll go like the whole way or anything
- 49:16Speaker 5: like that. I don't think he's ready for that. Yeah, yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 5: I expect to see him rotating at center and get
- 49:21Speaker 5: some serious.
- 49:22Speaker 6: I like, I I agree with you, but I also
- 49:24Speaker 6: there's part of my brain is like he played left
- 49:26Speaker 6: guard and I know everything we're hearing is that he's
- 49:29Speaker 6: working at center. So I don't know.
- 49:32Speaker 5: I think they want Leyden Robinson to play center, though
- 49:34Speaker 5: I don't think they want to take reps away from him,
- 49:36Speaker 5: I mean left guard. And I don't know how you felt.
- 49:40Speaker 5: I thought it was kind of a lukewarm answer to
- 49:44Speaker 5: the Ben Brown question. How's Ben Brown?
- 49:46Speaker 10: Like?
- 49:46Speaker 5: You know, since you he jumped right in there, he
- 49:49Speaker 5: played right away, how did he play like? I didn't
- 49:54Speaker 5: think there was much. I think the best thing you
- 49:58Speaker 5: could say was that he learned quickly. He got here
- 50:01Speaker 5: right away, and he was able to play.
- 50:02Speaker 6: It hasn't messed up any snaps.
- 50:03Speaker 7: He really helped us out in the pinch.
- 50:05Speaker 5: Yeah, that was the only thing that he said that
- 50:08Speaker 5: was you know about the center. Thing that gave you
- 50:10Speaker 5: pause was what Mike just touched on ahead and about
- 50:13Speaker 5: the exchange.
- 50:15Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean we've heard Gerrod say that, you know,
- 50:17Speaker 7: he really wants to play the young guy see what
- 50:19Speaker 7: he's got. Do you think that that will manifest itself
- 50:23Speaker 7: into like how this game is last four games are coached,
- 50:27Speaker 7: like for example, you know, we talked about Cole Strange,
- 50:30Speaker 7: like it makes sense if he's gonna play center, he's
- 50:32Speaker 7: going to be out there, but maybe he does rotate
- 50:35Speaker 7: more and it's not about like just winning the game.
- 50:38Speaker 7: It's about just getting guys reps at different places.
- 50:41Speaker 6: Yeah, or a performance, right, like that's is Ben Brown
- 50:44Speaker 6: playing bad? Or is this just a pre pre made
- 50:47Speaker 6: plan that we want to get him some reps?
- 50:49Speaker 5: Can we agree? And I'm the first guy to admit
- 50:52Speaker 5: all the time that I don't study the offensive line tape?
- 50:56Speaker 5: But can we agree that if Ben Brown was playing
- 50:58Speaker 5: at a high level, we wouldn't be looking to get
- 51:00Speaker 5: a young guy and he is a young guy.
- 51:02Speaker 7: Yeah, it would be like Ben Brown, we found somebody.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Right, We're gonna like if they if they thought that
- 51:06Speaker 5: was the answer, this would not be a question.
- 51:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 51:10Speaker 6: Yeah, It's just such a unique position. That's what I
- 51:12Speaker 6: think makes it a little bit more complicated because, like
- 51:15Speaker 6: I said, any other position in the in the game,
- 51:17Speaker 6: you're not other than quarterback, Like you're not assured to
- 51:20Speaker 6: touch the ball when you get in the game. You
- 51:21Speaker 6: can there's a get a guy feet way, you know,
- 51:24Speaker 6: that kind of thing where you know, it's almost like
- 51:26Speaker 6: a goalie right, Like it's like he's just gonna have
- 51:28Speaker 6: to throw him in there and see how it goes. So,
- 51:30Speaker 6: but I think I like your point for it. I
- 51:32Speaker 6: was thinking the same thing it's you know, is somebody
- 51:34Speaker 6: gonna come out because wow, he's not playing well, or
- 51:36Speaker 6: does it just seem like, all right, he's gonna start
- 51:38Speaker 6: us off, get us settled, and then.
- 51:40Speaker 5: I just don't know if they have a lot of
- 51:41Speaker 5: examples of that. Like I think that the cornerback thing
- 51:45Speaker 5: that we talked about from the Colts game is an
- 51:47Speaker 5: example of that. I think Jonathan Jones is better than
- 51:49Speaker 5: Alex Austin and Isaiah Bolden and they rotated. That's clearly
- 51:55Speaker 5: to me an effort. We need to see what some
- 51:57Speaker 5: of these other guys can do. I don't think there's
- 51:59Speaker 5: anything wrong with that. I think that makes a lot
- 52:00Speaker 5: of sense. And Mike talked about Jonathan Jones's contract is
- 52:05Speaker 5: going to be coming to an end too, so you
- 52:07Speaker 5: need to find some answers. But if Jalen Polk is
- 52:10Speaker 5: out there instead of Kaisehon Boody, or if Jayvon Baker
- 52:14Speaker 5: is out there instead of you know, Tomio Douglas is like,
- 52:19Speaker 5: they're all young guys, they're all getting reps. I don't
- 52:21Speaker 5: know how much of an edge you get with want
- 52:24Speaker 5: of you know, I would expect to continue to see
- 52:28Speaker 5: Booty Douglas and born with the other two sort of
- 52:32Speaker 5: factored in. Yeah, but I don't expect to see all
- 52:35Speaker 5: of a sudden Jaylon Baker get fifty.
- 52:37Speaker 7: Five hasty over Gibson and things like that.
- 52:40Speaker 5: I wouldn't think so. And that's again, that's not really
- 52:44Speaker 5: like they don't really have a young guy in that Yeah,
- 52:46Speaker 5: that room, they're they're like, they're all the.
- 52:48Speaker 6: Same, yeah, yeah, you know under the contract.
- 52:50Speaker 5: I mean they're here and they're all like four or
- 52:52Speaker 5: five year guys, right, Stevenson. I mean I don't know exactly.
- 52:56Speaker 5: You shoot me, yeah, few.
- 52:57Speaker 6: More years, three more years, I think three four more
- 52:59Speaker 6: years of Stevenson.
- 53:00Speaker 7: And now should I pose my girod suggestion to Mike
- 53:03Speaker 7: see what he says. So my suggestion to coach Mayo
- 53:08Speaker 7: is with the caveat that he's earned it. Name Drake
- 53:13Speaker 7: may a captain for these final four games. Interesting?
- 53:17Speaker 6: Interesting, think about that a little bit. I mean I
- 53:22Speaker 6: don't know, I you know, I mean, I don't mind it.
- 53:24Speaker 6: I don't mind it. I just I mean I think
- 53:26Speaker 6: the players already really look at him as a captain.
- 53:28Speaker 6: I mean, especially the way Bourne's talking about I mean,
- 53:31Speaker 6: Bourne was pumping him up. But I don't know, there's
- 53:33Speaker 6: also part of me though that like saving that for
- 53:35Speaker 6: next year. I think that's obviously going to be a
- 53:37Speaker 6: slam dunk next year, and really making that, you know,
- 53:40Speaker 6: a step forward that he takes if he did it
- 53:42Speaker 6: right now, does it feel kind of rushed and ceremonial
- 53:45Speaker 6: and not really like next summer Drake May is officially
- 53:48Speaker 6: a captain now in his second year, you know, like
- 53:50Speaker 6: maybe it packs a little more punch.
- 53:52Speaker 7: I don't interesting. I was just thinking about ways to
- 53:56Speaker 7: make these final four games more you know, more meaningful,
- 53:59Speaker 7: you know. And so if you finish the finish the
- 54:02Speaker 7: season with Drake May being named a captain, you know,
- 54:05Speaker 7: and he takes on that mantle, and yeah, I don't
- 54:08Speaker 7: know it's coming.
- 54:09Speaker 6: I mean, it's definitely coming. I mean Borne can't speak
- 54:12Speaker 6: highly enough.
- 54:13Speaker 7: About there's no doctor a captain next year.
- 54:15Speaker 6: You know, I know, yeah, oh yeah, I mean Bourne today,
- 54:18Speaker 6: it's just interesting hearing him phrase it this way. But
- 54:21Speaker 6: he's just like, you know, if you see the defense
- 54:24Speaker 6: a certain way and you going to get to a spot,
- 54:26Speaker 6: he's gonna see it the same way, and he's going
- 54:28Speaker 6: to get the ball to that spot. And so I
- 54:30Speaker 6: don't know that that stick out to me a little bit.
- 54:33Speaker 6: But yeah, I think they're all super high on Drake
- 54:36Speaker 6: and you know, it seems like everybody's hoping that he can,
- 54:38Speaker 6: you know, put a strong finish to the season.
- 54:40Speaker 7: All right, take a break. When we come back, more

- 56:03Speaker 15: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,

- 56:11Speaker 15: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx. Where
- 56:15Speaker 15: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 56:18Speaker 16: Good afternoon or good morning, Good morning Mary, Mary. Excited
- 56:24Speaker 16: to get back out there on the practice shield today.
- 56:26Speaker 16: We'll be in the bubble today, full padded practice. Got
- 56:29Speaker 16: to get better and it comes down to fundamentals. Had
- 56:32Speaker 16: you know, the players had a bye week. Coaches don't
- 56:35Speaker 16: really get bye weeks. Had a couple of days that,
- 56:38Speaker 16: you know, I was able to sit there and really
- 56:39Speaker 16: reflect on, you know, the season up until this point,
- 56:42Speaker 16: and really the goal remains the same, and that's the
- 56:44Speaker 16: play our best football. At the end of the year,
- 56:46Speaker 16: and that's the goal. Do we always hit the goals? No,
- 56:48Speaker 16: but we're going to do our best to hit that goal.
- 56:51Speaker 16: Flipping the page over to Arizona, very good team, you know,
- 56:55Speaker 16: I'll start defensively. To me, like, if you watch that
- 56:58Speaker 16: team as a whole, they definitely play fast and they
- 57:01Speaker 16: fly around regardless of position. And saying that, you know,
- 57:05Speaker 16: I think one of the big things as you watch
- 57:07Speaker 16: their defense is just versatility. You just don't know where
- 57:09Speaker 16: those guys are going to line up. They have, you know,
- 57:12Speaker 16: outside linebackers that can drop, outside linebackers that could rush.
- 57:15Speaker 16: You have a safety, and Buddah Baker, who really he
- 57:17Speaker 16: makes the whole engine go. He'll be in the box,
- 57:19Speaker 16: he'll blitz off the edge. He also been play in
- 57:21Speaker 16: the middle of the field. So very versatile player, a
- 57:23Speaker 16: very good player. Going to the linebacker is really Zavin
- 57:26Speaker 16: Zavan's done a good jobs as a non the ball backer.
- 57:29Speaker 16: And I would also say Matt Wilson's playing pretty well
- 57:31Speaker 16: for him, just you know, saying I'm happy for him.
- 57:33Speaker 16: He's out there doing a good job. Hopefully not on
- 57:36Speaker 16: Sunday then moving offensively offensively, I think it all starts
- 57:40Speaker 16: with the quarterback. I mean, this is one of the
- 57:42Speaker 16: more elusive quarterbacks that you're going to see in the league.
- 57:45Speaker 16: As you guys, as you guys know, he can beat
- 57:47Speaker 16: you two ways. He can beat you with his arm
- 57:49Speaker 16: and he beat you with his legs. Does a good
- 57:51Speaker 16: job really getting the ball out and does a good
- 57:53Speaker 16: job extending plays and that's what the NFL is, it
- 57:56Speaker 16: turns into street ball at some point in time. He
- 57:58Speaker 16: does a good job there. I think the offensive line,
- 58:00Speaker 16: I think they're very stout up front. I think they
- 58:02Speaker 16: work well together, and they're double teams. They definitely get
- 58:06Speaker 16: a lot of movement off the ball. So we got
- 58:08Speaker 16: to go out there and play with good fundamentals, good
- 58:10Speaker 16: pad level, and really try to control the line of scrimmage. Obviously,
- 58:14Speaker 16: the receivers do a good job that you know, just
- 58:16Speaker 16: a mix of speed, a mix of size, So we
- 58:19Speaker 16: definitely have to do a good job marrying up the
- 58:21Speaker 16: rush and the coverage going to Connor. I mean, this
- 58:25Speaker 16: guy still going. It's been very impressive to see that
- 58:28Speaker 16: a guy at this age is still running very hard.
- 58:31Speaker 16: He's tough, he can run between the tackles, he can
- 58:33Speaker 16: run outside, he can run you over, he can run
- 58:36Speaker 16: around you. So he's a he's a very good player
- 58:39Speaker 16: and it's good to see that he's you know, after
- 58:41Speaker 16: all that he's been through, that he's still playing at
- 58:43Speaker 16: a high level at this at this point in time.
- 58:45Speaker 16: And then Special teams look, obviously, you know Chad's over there.
- 58:48Speaker 16: You know, he was a Special Teams Player of the
- 58:50Speaker 16: Month I think the first month he was there. But
- 58:52Speaker 16: they have a lot of game changing type of players
- 58:55Speaker 16: on Special teams as well. With that being said, fire away.
- 59:00Speaker 5: He has time to a little bit what do you
- 59:02Speaker 5: want to see your team do?
- 59:03Speaker 6: Obviously, win, but in order to get there better than
- 59:06Speaker 6: they've done.
- 59:07Speaker 16: He places, No, I mean, it's it's all about winning.
- 59:10Speaker 16: It's all about winning. And I hate to say that.
- 59:12Speaker 16: I know you said besides win, but it's all about
- 59:14Speaker 16: winning and it's all about going out there playing complimentary
- 59:17Speaker 16: football and that's what we want to see and that
- 59:18Speaker 16: has been the goal. Earlier in the season I said
- 59:20Speaker 16: the same thing, like when we get to the end
- 59:22Speaker 16: of the season, we got to make sure that we're
- 59:24Speaker 16: playing our best football and that's still the goal.
- 59:27Speaker 5: Moves yesterday, including party ways with kg On Moore.
- 59:30Speaker 7: Can you talk a little bit about what do you do?
- 59:32Speaker 10: It was a it was a mutual thing. And look
- 59:34Speaker 10: kJ he had.
- 59:35Speaker 16: I mean even when he was inactive, he was just
- 59:38Speaker 16: a great professional, great person, a great leader. It just
- 59:41Speaker 16: didn't work out and we decided to part with defensively
- 59:46Speaker 16: draw you guys have got most of the guys back,
- 59:48Speaker 16: but you guys are still struggling on that side of
- 59:50Speaker 16: the ball.
- 59:51Speaker 5: What do you think the cause of that is?
- 59:53Speaker 10: And what can you and DeMarcus do moving forward to
- 59:55Speaker 10: try to fix that? I mean, look, it starts, It starts.
- 59:57Speaker 16: It always starts with me as a coach, no matter
- 1:00:00Speaker 16: what side of the ball we're talking about. I think,
- 1:00:02Speaker 16: you know, just as a whole, we just need to
- 1:00:03Speaker 16: go out there and play together. We need to do
- 1:00:05Speaker 16: a better job communicating and fly around and again we're
- 1:00:09Speaker 16: paid to tackle the guy with the football and that's
- 1:00:10Speaker 16: going to be our number one priority this week.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Cold Strange being activated on to the fifty three.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: How do you envision him being integrated into let's say
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: a game of like a receiver where you point to
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: play you can all one outside.
- 1:00:25Speaker 10: That's a great question.
- 1:00:26Speaker 16: You know, well, Cole, he has the flexibility to play
- 1:00:29Speaker 16: center and guard and you know, hopefully he'll be up
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: for the game this week, and he understands both of
- 1:00:33Speaker 16: those positions, and I'm excited to see him. I'm excited
- 1:00:36Speaker 16: to see him out there in full pass today at
- 1:00:38Speaker 16: practice and excited to see him at the game.
- 1:00:39Speaker 10: Hopefully.
- 1:00:40Speaker 7: Would you be open.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: To, let's say, if it's center, you know, a couple
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: series for Ben or you know, or even guard a
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: couple of series for Lading.
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: And that team.
- 1:00:49Speaker 10: It's tough to stay.
- 1:00:50Speaker 16: It's tough to say, you know, especially early in the season,
- 1:00:54Speaker 16: even through the midway point in the season. We've always
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: talked about continuity up front, and so, uh, that's really
- 1:01:00Speaker 16: I don't want to say that's off the table, but
- 1:01:02Speaker 16: it's a it's a hard question to answer.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Yeah, boll just earned a spot in the college football playoffs.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Yeah, just what was your reaction to that?
- 1:01:10Speaker 16: And you just, yeah, I was happy for those guys.
- 1:01:13Speaker 16: You know, they got a tough matchup. I think they
- 1:01:15Speaker 16: play Ohio State the first first game, so tough matchup.
- 1:01:18Speaker 16: I'm rooting for him, but at the same time, I'm
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: only focused on the Cardinals right now.
- 1:01:22Speaker 10: So we talked about it.
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: We just give give each other high five and we'll
- 1:01:27Speaker 16: just keep it moving.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: Marvin Harrison, trainer, how much the work did you put
- 1:01:31Speaker 6: it on him before the draft and what stands it
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: up about him?
- 1:01:34Speaker 16: We put a lot of work in, you know, all
- 1:01:36Speaker 16: the guys that we thought were going to be available
- 1:01:38Speaker 16: at three. And look, this is a guy who obviously
- 1:01:41Speaker 16: he grew up in it, but great hands, great size,
- 1:01:44Speaker 16: and he's also good when Kyler's extending the play, he
- 1:01:48Speaker 16: has a good feel. It's like they have a good
- 1:01:49Speaker 16: chemistry between the two of them.
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: So good player, drud You've talked about wanting to kind
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: of evaluate players over the course of you know, the
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: final months.
- 1:02:01Speaker 16: So does that evaluation also includes your coaching staff?
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: I mean, will you be doing that kind of evaluation
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: as well?
- 1:02:10Speaker 16: We're all we're all being evaluated, myself included, and that's
- 1:02:13Speaker 16: part of it.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: Ben Brown, the cool strange could computed center.
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: What did you see from Ben in the time that
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: he's been there in the middle, and obviously this contract
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: and he's restricted for each next all season.
- 1:02:22Speaker 10: So sorry the start of that question.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: I'm sorry, we've been I was wondering what have you
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: thought of his performance? Since obviously the competition could be
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: at the center.
- 1:02:29Speaker 16: Records Yeah, Ben's been great. You know, the first week
- 1:02:31Speaker 16: he got here, he started that game. So he's just
- 1:02:34Speaker 16: one of those guys that loves football, wants to do
- 1:02:36Speaker 16: everything right and it is a great teammate and a
- 1:02:37Speaker 16: great professional. So look, we compete all the time, every
- 1:02:41Speaker 16: every position. They have to compete each and every.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: Week to practice.
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: Whey, yesterday one went into the decision and you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: you're essentially adding competition to t Jo's.
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: Yeah, I think we all look, it's always it's a
- 1:02:53Speaker 16: competitive league and we got to see what he can do.
- 1:02:55Speaker 16: Joey's done a good job for us as well throughout
- 1:02:57Speaker 16: the season. But at the same time, we're always looking to,
- 1:03:00Speaker 16: you know, formulate competition on the rust.
- 1:03:04Speaker 15: I think the last time we chat with you for
- 1:03:07Speaker 15: the buy said, obviously we're focusing on the season.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: If you have to look at things out the front
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: windshield that will come up on as fast. What were
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: some of those things you got to look at during the.
- 1:03:15Speaker 16: Lab Yeah, I would say just the style of play
- 1:03:18Speaker 16: that we have. You know, you start with the scheme,
- 1:03:20Speaker 16: you start with, and then you go to the players
- 1:03:22Speaker 16: and then honestly like what I can do better?
- 1:03:25Speaker 10: That's those are all part of the discussion, more experience.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Than that coach on you know the time, But have
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: you been.
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: Able to put your imprint.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: On the defense if I know you've talked about sort
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: of playing.
- 1:03:35Speaker 10: The coaches coach and letting the Marcus do his thing.
- 1:03:37Speaker 16: But it is a long st I spent a lot
- 1:03:41Speaker 16: of time with the defense, and I do agree, like
- 1:03:44Speaker 16: you know, during the game, I'm still talking.
- 1:03:45Speaker 10: To those guys over the headset. Just because I'm not
- 1:03:47Speaker 10: over there doesn't mean I'm I'm not involved.
- 1:03:49Speaker 16: And so I'm in those meetings, in the game planning meetings,
- 1:03:52Speaker 16: and look, we just have to play better.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: Haven't had some time to reflect?
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: What are sly takes that that you're focused on? Specifically
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: for yourself the last.
- 1:04:01Speaker 16: Four games, I'm focused on coaching my butt off against
- 1:04:04Speaker 16: the against Arizona.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Is there anything in particular coaches in terms of whether.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: It's uh during the week, in game communication and.
- 1:04:12Speaker 16: Game in particular to me winning cures all and whatever
- 1:04:15Speaker 16: the expectations are like winning cures all in my opinion,
- 1:04:18Speaker 16: when it.
- 1:04:18Speaker 17: Comes to center, you know, if it is cold instead
- 1:04:22Speaker 17: have been you know how much does like the quarterback
- 1:04:25Speaker 17: center in exchange factor into that decision?
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: Seeing how clean it's been with Ben and Ury.
- 1:04:30Speaker 16: Yeah, that's always that's always a huge part of it.
- 1:04:32Speaker 16: And look, you have to get Drake's opinion on who
- 1:04:35Speaker 16: he feels most comfortable with at that spot. The quarterback
- 1:04:37Speaker 16: center exchange starts every play and it's definitely uh weighted
- 1:04:40Speaker 16: in that decision.
- 1:04:43Speaker 7: You said last week.
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: I think a couple of times last week you expect
- 1:04:45Speaker 10: to improve a year too.
- 1:04:47Speaker 7: What are some years that.
- 1:04:48Speaker 13: You believe you have to improve on.
- 1:04:50Speaker 16: I'm not going to get too much into details there,
- 1:04:52Speaker 16: I think again, like my focus is on this weekend
- 1:04:55Speaker 16: winning this football game.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: So Ky Wallace Smith very much practice on Monday.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Is did you expect him to be available to play
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: as soon as this weekend?
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: And could you factor it could be as soon as
- 1:05:05Speaker 10: this weekend? And today?
- 1:05:06Speaker 16: Like I said, this is a big day for a
- 1:05:07Speaker 16: lot of guys who haven't played a lot this year,
- 1:05:10Speaker 16: Kayden being one of them to go out there in
- 1:05:11Speaker 16: pads and see what it looks like.
- 1:05:13Speaker 10: Right, thanks us.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: And now great moments in history have mac Herron. They
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: don't do the proper restart either.
- 1:05:26Speaker 18: I like Paul says, our lads, what is it called?
- 1:05:31Speaker 18: It's called our lads, not our lads. I thought it
- 1:05:34Speaker 18: was our lads, our our, you are our?
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: Oh you are a A? Oh you are is one
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: syllo ooned owned.
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: No, it's our No, it's not our hour. It's like
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: yours mine and our our Yeah, it's mine and ours. Yes,
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: this this is the kind of.
- 1:05:56Speaker 8: Nonsense we're gonna get.
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: It's our lads. How do you say a R E? Correct?
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: How do you say a R? Are? You say it's
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: the same Oh you are? No, it's not you are,
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: It's not ours. Not looking up in the dictionary. It's
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: not too syllable, you've been our is not too syllables.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Are and R are not the same thing?
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: Are its pronounced? Are? It's not our?
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: God, that's another great moment from.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: Great, my god, he's just disgusted with us, So great,
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: because the hell you choose to die on?
- 1:06:31Speaker 10: Did you?
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Did you hear him in the middle of that Mike
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: he he tasked us with going to the dictionary. So
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: I've done it, Okay, okay, our adjective all right, I'm
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: going to play the pronunciation.
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: Okay you ready, ready hour, that's wrong. That's that you're
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: relying on a dumb ai ship.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: So I'm just I'm just gonna say wow, just throwing
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: s bombs out there now, I'm just gonna say this,
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: that makes me the happiest ever because as the resident
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: most stubborn person on the planet on the show, Fred
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: just says, I don't care. It looked you proved me wrong.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: I don't care. I'm still right.
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: I'm right.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: It's part of me that really really appreciates.
- 1:07:20Speaker 7: That's good. That's good, that's funny. I want to do
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: some trivia. Oh, I love to do Boston Cream.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: Right, Boston Cream. Not happy with me yesterday? Yeah, on
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: the Twitter machine because I said that the whole full
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: back thing with with you know that we were talking about,
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: and it's like, yeah, a versatile full back. I think
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: there's still a place for a guy that can Kyle
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: used check. You can get out and catch some passes
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: and line up in different spots and give the defenses
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: different things to, you know, create matchup problems. I'm not
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: necessarily interested in old school full back like James Devlin,
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: to which he says that they haven't won anything since
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: he left, Like he had my whole quote, they haven't
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: won anything since he left, And that's not a coincidence,
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: to which I would say, no, it's actually the definition
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: of a coincidence. And they lost Brady at the same time.
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: That might be the bigger factor in the fact that
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: they haven't won, which I actually think Boston Cream that's
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: what I was most say, mostly usually kidding around, and
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: I think that he was like that. I think I
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: think he was being very sarcastic. Do the math other
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: people did not take take to a sarcas.
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: That's his brilliance that he'll say that he'll start the
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: start the fighting and he just sits back in.
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: So I do I do appreciate Boston Cream's attempt I
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: think attempt at humor.
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: I would say other people were.
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: Not happy with me.
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: The Patriots have drafted eleven wide receivers in the second
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: round in their existence. Only three of those have more
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: than one thousand career receiving yards. Can you name the three.
- 1:08:54Speaker 11: Deon branch correct right at the top a thousand career
- 1:09:04Speaker 11: receiving yards, Tony Simmons, No.
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: One was during your heyday. I don't know. That's all.
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: Vincent Brisbee the second round pick, and he has Centric.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: Jones Cedric it's actually Cedric, But yes, I should have
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: gotten well, I wouldn't have known Cedric Jones was the
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: second round pick. I should have gotten braz two Tom Brady.
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: A very good question, though.
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: Tom Brady threw one touchdown to a Patriots offensive lineman
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: and two to Patriots defenders. Can you name the three?
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: Nate Solder?
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: Solder, that's one, Mike Rabel, that's right, Dan Cleco, No, oh,
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: another defender.
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: Landon Roberts.
- 1:09:57Speaker 8: Oh jeez, how do we not get that one?
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: That sparked one of the greatest Fred Paul arguments ever?
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: Do you remember that trick play?
- 1:10:05Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: That was great.
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: I can't believe.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Man, who's this emailer?
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: Boston Cream?
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: Oh, Boston Cream. This is just this is beautiful. Final
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: one trivia questions that are stumping me.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: The price of a sixteen ounce beer at ju Let
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: Stadium is eight dollars and fifty eight cents, which ranks
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: twenty fourth in price. Can you guess the price is
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: the most expensive beer at an NFL stadium? The price
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: the price fifteen sixteen, A little bit more sixteen dollars
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: and forty nine cents at Northwest Stadium in Washington.
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: Wow, I would have guessed Dallas, Washing West stadium like
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: this of the Seahawks play.
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: Is that what it's called?
- 1:10:44Speaker 7: Now? Oh?
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: Is that the Seahawks place? I was thinking Commander's Washington command.
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: Oh no, I think in Washington state?
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: Oh okay, yeah, yeah, what's the matter?
- 1:10:56Speaker 10: No?
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: Is it?
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: Is it like a craft brew like Pacific Northwest?
- 1:11:01Speaker 7: That might be?
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: Might you know, use snooty types. You probably drink that
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: pas not surprised.
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: That checks pack, A little punch, that checks a little flavor.
- 1:11:10Speaker 10: I like it.
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: I'm seeing as the.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: Commander's Northwestthwest Stadium is in the Google says a sixteen
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: ounce beer at Washington Commander's game cost sixteen forty nine.
- 1:11:21Speaker 7: Okay, okay, well they don't play at Northwest Stadium unless
- 1:11:24Speaker 7: it's Northwest. The airline is that still southwest?
- 1:11:28Speaker 10: No?
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: Northwest was our old charter.
- 1:11:31Speaker 7: What's now?
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: I'm looking it up? Northwest is SD Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas?
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: That ain't it? Washington Commanders Northwest Stadium. It is home
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: of the Commanders in.
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: The middle, so it must be the airline, right, And
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: it's so hard to keep tracking.
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: I don't think the airline exists anymore.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: So what's northwest? I don't know.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: I was looking at the stadium to see if it
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: was in Kanye's daughter.
- 1:11:54Speaker 7: Maybe. All right, let's go to the TPX outline again.
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: We'll go to Dale in Iowa. What's Updale?
- 1:12:03Speaker 13: Hey, what's up, fellas?
- 1:12:04Speaker 7: How you doing today? Okay?
- 1:12:05Speaker 13: Great, good, good, coming in coming in from Iowa. So
- 1:12:13Speaker 13: I've got I've got a few misses that I'm not
- 1:12:17Speaker 13: very satisfied with in recent Patriots drafts. Right Uh, we're
- 1:12:23Speaker 13: talking like miss we Reef out of the University of
- 1:12:26Speaker 13: Iowa and the mission then missed a should have been
- 1:12:33Speaker 13: a rookie of the year no matter where he ended up,
- 1:12:38Speaker 13: but he ended up in Tampa Bay. It's Tristan Worse.
- 1:12:42Speaker 13: What if you know? You know, because Tristan Worse the
- 1:12:47Speaker 13: year before at his position, left tackle, I believe his
- 1:12:50Speaker 13: position gave up twenty eight and a half twenty eight
- 1:12:53Speaker 13: and a half sacks, and his rookie year with Tom Brady,
- 1:12:57Speaker 13: he gave up one.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Okay, Tristan Worse is ne excellent colariter? Yeah we yeah,
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: I mean Riley Reef was drafted in twenty twelve.
- 1:13:07Speaker 13: Yes, then that I call it a recent one because
- 1:13:10Speaker 13: I'm kind of old anyhow.
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: But wasn't he here like, anyhow.
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: He was the guy that we had last year.
- 1:13:15Speaker 11: Couldn't play I got right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:13:18Speaker 11: don't the field twelve.
- 1:13:20Speaker 13: Years later, Yeah, yes, twelve years later.
- 1:13:23Speaker 7: Right. So the point is they need to pay more
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: attention to Iowa. Is that what we're saying? Is that
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: the point?
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think they do that.
- 1:13:32Speaker 14: I mean I think.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: They didn't have offensive line problems in twenty twelve.
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: Yeah, well, thanks for the call down.
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: I know that.
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: You know, Bill used to have a good relationship with
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: Kirk Ferentz, you know, but I don't think we did
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: draft a lot of people out of Iowa.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: But no, no, we were alway.
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: Brian Ferrence was here for a while. Yeah, joke that
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: that Cooper de jan would have been one of Bill's
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: booze last draft.
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: Christian Tristan Wurfs is a terrific player, and absolutely, you know,
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: they they wouldn't be having these kinds of issues that
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: he'd been anchoring their left tackle spot for the last
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: you know, whatever five seven years, however many years he's
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: been in the League's definitely good play.
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: Like going to the combine, I feel like every year
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: you're looking at these guys and it's just they haven't
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: really taken one yet that I'm like, yeah, that's the guy.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: You know, It's it's been the close ranges of the world.
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: You know, Kid Wallace watched him last year in Lande.
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: He's a developmental right tackle not what they need, you know, Like,
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: I don't know. I think this is the year hopefully
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: that they can, you know.
- 1:14:35Speaker 7: Try to.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: I just we're gonna talk so much about the first round,
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: and I feel like, really it's the second and third
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: round is where they really need to be diligent because
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: I have confidence no matter who they pick in the
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: first round, if they stay where they are, he's probably
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: going to be a very good player that it's hard
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: to miss on.
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: But those you know, same thing with last year, to
- 1:14:51Speaker 7: hit on more than one player.
- 1:14:52Speaker 6: You got to hit those those second and third picks
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: wherever there's some value in the draft because it's going
- 1:14:56Speaker 6: to be a quick drop off after day two. You
- 1:14:59Speaker 6: get into day three. Now you're talking about just taking
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: a flyer on somebody.
- 1:15:03Speaker 7: Duce Earlier, I said Terry Bradshaw shouldn't be in the
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: Hall of Fame, oh Jackie, and Arbor says he does
- 1:15:08Speaker 7: deserve Besides his four Super Bowl victories. He was a
- 1:15:11Speaker 7: six time AFC champion. At the time of his retirement,
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: he held six super Bowl records, five postseason passing records.
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: He was NFL MVP and seventy eight. He's a member
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: of the seventies NFL All Decade Team. He was All
- 1:15:24Speaker 7: Pro and seven and a three time Pro Bowler. His
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: outstanding career achievements weren't his membership in the NFL Hall
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: of Fame. Yeah, he wrote on the Steelers coattails.
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I would say that he definitely was
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: a product of a great team. But he was great
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: when he needed to be too, Like he was like
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: he had some good performances, you know, thirty five thirty
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: one over Dallas in whatever Super Bowl thirteen, and then
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: like thirty one nineteen over the Rams the following year
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: in fourteen. You know, maybe earlier in his career they
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: were a little bit more defensive oriented games, but he
- 1:15:58Speaker 5: was a great deep ball thrower. Did he say that
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: he was an AFC champion six times?
- 1:16:04Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: That's not accurate because if you're an AFC champion, that
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: means you lost in the Super Bowl, right right, Not
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: like miss I'm not overthinking North.
- 1:16:12Speaker 7: Well, you could have won in the Super Bowl if
- 1:16:14Speaker 7: you're an AFC champion, but.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: They won four for super Bowls, not six. They didn't
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: lose any Oh, they didn't lose any Okay, those Steelers
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: teams didn't lose any super Bowls, So then that's not true.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: I wonder if he meant AFC Central champs. Maybe that's yeah,
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: maybe six times AFC Central chants.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: Maybe he should have say that, Evan, No one hates
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: the Steelers Hall of Fame from the seventies.
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: Well, anybody that's ever had any success in any endeavor
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: in the league that's not Patriots's either stinks, overrated or
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: product the officiating.
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: Patrick and Ottawa, I have to disagree with you, Fred.
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: Many teams have established cultures without winning. Greg Chaiano's Tampa
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: Bay Buccaneers.
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: The culture was dirty, that was their culture.
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: Detroit Dan Campbell.
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: Again, I went over that one, but go ahead.
- 1:17:01Speaker 7: All of these. Both of those teams were not winning necessarily,
- 1:17:04Speaker 7: but we're establishing a culture before being they were able
- 1:17:08Speaker 7: to actually consistently win. For that culture to stay, winning
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: must happen, But you can still establish how things are
- 1:17:14Speaker 7: going to be before the winning actually starts to.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Happen, and I agree with that, and I used Detroit
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: as an example. But I just think that they were
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: kind of until they won. They were kind of mocked
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: for taking on Dan Campbell's you know, big tough guy.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: You know, I used Carolina right now is establishing an
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: identity of being a really tough team to play against
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: with no talents. But the last five weeks they've been
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: much better than they were in the first five weeks.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I just think it's tenuous without wins, like you
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: can have that, but it's fleeting for how long you
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: can live in that space because.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: Canton wish again next year, Detroit went three thirteen to one,
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: then went nine to eight.
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: Yeah, right exactly.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: If they went three thirteen to one again, it probably
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: would have fired Campbell. They wouldn't need to start all
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: over again and find a new identity, right, But they
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: were able to have success after that. But we used Actually,
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: Fred I think is the one who brought up the
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: Lions as an example of a team that plays the
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: identity of their code.
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: I struggled to think of another example of a team that,
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: I mean really said what they want to do and
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: they did it. And they got ridiculed for it a lot,
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: but then they grew into it and now they embrace
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: it and embody it. And I can't think of that
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: ever happening before. I think usually how it happens is
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: kind of like it's happening here, like you're up, you're down,
- 1:18:33Speaker 6: you win some, you lose some, and then you start
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: to win some games a certain way and that becomes
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: like a.
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: Lot of guys talk about it, you know there in
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: their introductory press contra.
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: That's all bullshit. You know, I don't know what it
- 1:18:44Speaker 7: doesn't mean.
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: I don't know what we're doing today.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: I swear I don't know.
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: I mean, this is gonna get down as like a
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: very unique show where Paul's the only professional happened. I
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: keep wanting to say this, like I just had to
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: swear again.
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: I think I have the hardest I've ever left on
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: this show. Was Fred's line about the side of the
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: highway like little memorial. I still I laughed so hard
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: and I still laugh about that.
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: That I think is the funniest thing I've ever.
- 1:19:12Speaker 7: Experienced on this show.
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: It was good like some solemn, like you know, nightmare
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: of a memory for people and He's like, you should
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: do that when you took the dumb.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: Whenever I go by him, I feel so bad and
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: I think, and it's like Mom and Dad r I P.
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: You know Jesus, they go right about myself?
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: Was it that tree?
- 1:19:35Speaker 11: You know?
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: Like you go through all these morbid thoughts.
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: Like if God forbid that ever happened to someone that
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: was close to me, Like and then Fred's like, you
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: should you should memorialize that where you took that dump.
- 1:19:47Speaker 7: Absolutely, I think it's worth it's worth something. It's one
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: of my favorites. Good Fred, Shane and Calgary. With regards
- 1:19:56Speaker 7: to Drake May's captaincy, when did Tom Brady first become captain? Personally,
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: I would agree with Fred that making a captain this
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: year would be a good idea. It would set the
- 1:20:05Speaker 7: tone going forward that we have definitely found our guy.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: I think it was O two. But can I ask
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: a question and I don't know the answer to it.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: It's going to be upfront about that. Do you think
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: there's a team in the league that has a starting
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: quarterback in year two or more that isn't the captain,
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: like they have a definitive starting quarterback.
- 1:20:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't think so young.
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: I'm not talking about like Aidan O'Connell.
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: And with the Raiders, right, like someone like Daniel Jones.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: Daniel Jones was probably at right, probably, but still Bryce
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: Young is probably even a captain.
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, Jacoby Brissette was a captain.
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: But I just wonder if there's a single team that
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: had an entrenched starting quarterback in year two or greater
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: that wasn't the quarterback.
- 1:20:47Speaker 7: Jimmy garopol captain. When was he entrenched in second year
- 1:20:51Speaker 7: in San Francisco.
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm sure he was a captain or was he?
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: I'm sure he was.
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: I'm just I just I don't. I don't Again, I
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: don't know the answer to the question.
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: But like Kirk Cousins, he's a captain right in Atlanta.
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: Like guys who switch teams but they're established still and
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: they're going to be the starter, usually they get to
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: be the starter, they get to be a captain as well.
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: I just think if you.
- 1:21:11Speaker 7: Look up to see if Jimmy Garoppolo was ever a
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: captain at forty nine.
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: If you have a starting quarterback, my guess is he's
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: a captain.
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: I would guess too. Za's exceptions, Emery writes in I
- 1:21:23Speaker 7: agree that the Guard's evaluation report is a big nothing burger.
- 1:21:27Speaker 7: I also think it's the wrong report to focus on.
- 1:21:30Speaker 7: He had another report that candidates for the offensive coordinator
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: job felt like the interviews were light on footballbstaunchly and
- 1:21:37Speaker 7: the mail deserves another year camp. But this information gave
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: me pause.
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: Do we mentioned that earlier in the show?
- 1:21:43Speaker 7: We did?
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: I don't know, because maybe it was off Yeah, sometimes
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: we talk off air and I don't remember exactly what
- 1:21:47Speaker 5: we say on air. But yeah, that was interesting that
- 1:21:52Speaker 5: it's been reported in the past.
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: Who was in on those meetings?
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: But Badard said they were very light on football. Evidently
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: again I can't.
- 1:22:01Speaker 7: Read this though.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Ross and Scottland going to pick it up on
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: the Twitter machine. People seem to like.
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: Ross and Scotland quotes. If you want to expense I don't.
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: I just want to how do you not know me
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: well enough after twenty five years now? I just want
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: to bitch about it. I don't want to expense it,
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: I know, but I don't want to read it.
- 1:22:21Speaker 7: Do you buy it from Boston Sports Network or do
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: you buy it from doesn't he with the.
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: BSA Sports no bost spots directly through Boston Sports Journal.
- 1:22:32Speaker 7: Oh okay, I thought he joined another.
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: Group and we have like a loggin, but it doesn't
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: work for me.
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: A lot of these guys dabble with clinis now like
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: and your Callahan dabbles like they do some pot some videos.
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: Dirty like that. I dabble on the side.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Garoppolo is a twenty nineteen he became a captain.
- 1:22:48Speaker 7: There you go. Yeah, even him?
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: Why do you say even him?
- 1:22:52Speaker 7: Because he wasn't really see what.
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: I mean, Mike. I know you think I exaggerate, and
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: I do. But as soon as they soon as they
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: take the uniform off, well, the score, the scourge.
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: Of the yeah, the reputation of being a little soft,
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: But what does that have to do with his ability
- 1:23:09Speaker 7: to be a guy as your captain? Y, you want
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: a tough guy. You want a guy who's always going
- 1:23:14Speaker 7: to be out there for you no matter what. That's
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: your captain.
- 1:23:17Speaker 11: It's Jimmy.
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: I think it would have been fine if he just
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: was a little bit better like that.
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: You know, Uh, okay, Ross's Scott. I have ever request
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: for the finest producer in sports radio. That's Matt before
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: Mike or Paul asks, who can we have an updated
- 1:23:33Speaker 7: version of the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation intro that we
- 1:23:37Speaker 7: can use to have on PFW Christmas shows please that
- 1:23:41Speaker 7: we used to have. Oh do you have that? I
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: don't know. I do. I played every year. Oh okay,
- 1:23:48Speaker 7: Fred if Matt scenes reluctant to can you swing your
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: senior management authority to sorry so nighty to get it
- 1:23:54Speaker 7: done please? Bingo. So you use that every year? Yes,
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: I do, Okay, you have to update it now.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: I do because I ask everybody what their favorite movie quote,
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: their favorite Christmas movie quote was.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: I asked that of you guys my first year here,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: and any time we got a new host, I asked
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: them and I put it into the intro.
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: I have not, I said, I have no recollection of
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: this at all.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: I don't give you a second out.
- 1:24:15Speaker 7: I don't know from Christmas Vacation.
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: You don't know.
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: I know, I know the movie. I wasn't really big
- 1:24:23Speaker 7: fan other than Animal House. I wasn't a big fan
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: of the National Lampoon movies. I didn't think they were
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: very funny.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, let me see that interesting take. I don't hate it.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: I don't hate your take. But I'm just surprised that
- 1:24:36Speaker 5: you had never seen I mean.
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: It's on all the time.
- 1:24:40Speaker 7: I would say I've never sat down and watched the
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: whole movie. I've probably seen the whole movie in bits
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: and pieces.
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: Well, that's kind of my thing with a lot of
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: different movies.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I didn't label them hood as who picked who off
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: the top right here, But I have Bad Santa, Christmas, Carol,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation. It's a wonderful life. It's a
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: wonderful life, was Eric.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: I remember that.
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: Of course mine's Christmas story.
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: I have no idea which one of those I would have.
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: I think I have Christmas story.
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: I can't believe I didn't go with Diehard or Godfather.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: I love when we have this to be and he
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: takes it seriously.
- 1:25:16Speaker 7: What the Christmas message?
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: Oh, I think I think it's pretty clear. It's family right.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: John wants to get back with his ex wife and
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: he'll go to any links to do that, including taking down,
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: you know, in Saving Knock Yeah, I couldn't think of
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: his name, Hanscruber and Saving Knakatomi Plaza.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: I think get to leave your cigarettes and lighter and
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: your vet in your homes this Christmas Eve?
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: What like, what better Christmas metrics can they be than family?
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: He would do anything to get his ex wife right.
- 1:25:45Speaker 7: Nothing to do with Christmas. It's not a Christmas movie.
- 1:25:48Speaker 7: I'm sorry.
- 1:25:50Speaker 10: This.
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: Paul say this when you're a fill in at in
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: one of your shows. Okay, we don't talk about that here.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: That's coming up, Yeah, that's coming up twenty four.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Also, Fred, it's a Northwest Federal Credit Union.
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: Yeah, Paul showed me that. I guess it's a bank
- 1:26:06Speaker 7: something like in the mid Atlantic. Yeah. Ford in Savannah says,
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: don't you dare put that cursed captain's badge on our
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: precious Drake. We want him around and it's been a
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: kiss of death. Yet that's a good.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: Point, Knew Belichick. Belichick new checks if you put that
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: c on someone's chest, which never did, they automatically fall
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: by the wayside.
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: Henry Hunter, Henry's dodged it so far, and I'll call them.
- 1:26:32Speaker 7: Jeffrey in Canada has a this or that game. This
- 1:26:35Speaker 7: look could deal with truth serum time. I'm gonna give
- 1:26:38Speaker 7: you two scenarios and you have to pick which you'd
- 1:26:40Speaker 7: rather see happen. While considering the ramifications, vcations for the
- 1:26:45Speaker 7: short and long term future of the Patriots. Patriots go
- 1:26:48Speaker 7: two and two in the last four games. The media
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: are impressed, shut up about Male's future. However, because they
- 1:26:55Speaker 7: now have five wins, they get the eighth pick in
- 1:26:57Speaker 7: the twenty twenty five draft, subsequently fortieth overall pick in
- 1:27:01Speaker 7: round two. Okay, so two and two in the last
- 1:27:04Speaker 7: four games, the media is quiet. Everything's better, but eighth overall.
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: Now, those are the two choices.
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: No Number one's coming round.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: That's choice.
- 1:27:16Speaker 7: That's one choice. The second choice is the Patriots lose
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: all four games, the media has tons of negative to
- 1:27:25Speaker 7: feed on for months. However, it secures the first overall
- 1:27:28Speaker 7: pick of the twenty twenty five draft, subsequently the thirty
- 1:27:31Speaker 7: third pick in round two.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: One one. You'd rather have one, absolutely, the first option,
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: not the number one pick.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: Not.
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: According to Jeffrey, I don't think there's anybody worthy of
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: the number.
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: He says to me. The choice is clear, lose out.
- 1:27:45Speaker 7: Enter a draft where the worst case scenario is you
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: have Travis Hunter.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Really, and yeah, like what does that do for you?
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: Like I'm not saying I wouldn't take Travis Hunter, but
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: like that's a yeah, Like how many teams are a
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: cornerback away.
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: I know that's I mean, that's what's scary about him
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: to me. I mean, I like him. I mean, you know,
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: he's got a lot of what I'm looking for.
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: But I think he's tremendous.
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: Hey, I think cornerback gets filled in for you. Was
- 1:28:13Speaker 7: there updates on Randy Moss today? His condition?
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: Not that I saw?
- 1:28:17Speaker 6: Somebody like are you talking posts? Like? I think Larry
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: Fitzgerald tweeted out that he like what he has and
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: and everyone there was some people upset about that.
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: Oh really, so what does he have? Oh?
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: He said liver cancer?
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: Oh damn it.
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: So that's funny. It's amazing. My wife just diagnoses off
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: with apparent yellow eyes.
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: Yeah, oh yeah, oliver, kidney, liver, yellow eyes.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: And that's what you saw. That's why he had glasses on.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: That That's what she said. Yeah, his eyes are yellow
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: and that's liver. He's got a liver issue.
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: Yeah, well that's too bad. Let's see Travis and West Virginia.
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: This is kind of a network type of question. Fox
- 1:29:07Speaker 7: and CBS both have double headers on Sunday. Why don't
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: they do this every Sunday. Isn't there enough meat on
- 1:29:12Speaker 7: the bones of the NFL that everyone comes out of winter.
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: That's a great question.
- 1:29:16Speaker 7: The Yeah, it used to be a rule that both
- 1:29:18Speaker 7: networks couldn't have double headers and they switch off, right.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: I believe it's the home mark. Get didn't have a
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: game opposite it, right, so the Patriots would play It's
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: a CBS game this week, I think, so there wouldn't
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: be a doubleheader game on Fox.
- 1:29:37Speaker 7: So to be clear, every week, except for like when
- 1:29:41Speaker 7: CBS used to have the US Open tennis every week,
- 1:29:45Speaker 7: both networks have games in both time slots, correct, but
- 1:29:49Speaker 7: depending on where you are, you may not be able
- 1:29:52Speaker 7: to see both games. I believe that you are correct
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: because of it's a home game. But CBS and Fox
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: both have games at one and four every week. That's
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: how I am, except for when the US Open used
- 1:30:03Speaker 7: to be on c but in.
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: The Boston market. I believe the rule and maybe this
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: isn't a rule anymore, but you couldn't have a game
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: opposite your home team, So if you played Sunday at one,
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: there wouldn't be a game Sunday at one on the
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: other network, right, Or if.
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: You're going at four. There's not going to be a
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: game at one before it, right, No.
- 1:30:23Speaker 7: There could be.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: There could be depending on who we had the double header.
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: But I think the way Fred describes it as accurate. Yeah,
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: I think there's I think there's double headers on both
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: networks every week. You just can't see all four games
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: at the same time.
- 1:30:39Speaker 7: That's right.
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: I had to deal with that this weekend where you're like, oh, shoot,
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: what games am I even getting? I don't even realize,
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: which I see.
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: That's the funny part now, is I don't I don't watch.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: I just watched eight ninety nine. I watched I'm on
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: Red Zone.
- 1:30:52Speaker 7: I feel like when I watch red Zone.
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: The only time, the only time I changed it is
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: when we got to like the there was about ten
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: minutes left in the Bills game, and I went to
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: Fox to watch to watch the Bills game because that was,
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: you know, the other game. I was kind of keeping
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: Red Zone on just to kind of keep an eye
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: on Arizona because we're playing them. But then, you know,
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: the Bills game got compelling and as they were making
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: the comeback and I watched I stretch of them.
- 1:31:20Speaker 7: I'm cheating, you know, on the league when I watched
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: Red Zone.
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: What do they ever do for you?
- 1:31:28Speaker 7: No, I just feel like I should be watching a
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: game instead of you know, just snippets of game.
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard for me. It's hard for me to
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: plug it all together.
- 1:31:38Speaker 7: But it's easy. Just start watching it. You get hooked,
- 1:31:40Speaker 7: I know, Like how do you turn away?
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: And it's it's so funny, Like you know how you're
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: always like, oh, you know, after this drive is over,
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: they'll go to commercial. You know, I'll go get that
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: little laundry, or I'll get something to eat.
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: Just keep going right and going.
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: You get you try to wait for like the halftime
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: window of the one o'clock games when they all go.
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: To only one game going on right now?
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: Like and you don't like Scott Hansen. I think he
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: does a fine job.
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: So fine I had about I lost track. I got
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: to double figures of things that he just completely lost
- 1:32:11Speaker 5: track of on Sunday And it's just so frustrating Dan
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: And again he sees more than I can. I'm just
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: watching the stupid TV.
- 1:32:20Speaker 6: You should hear them, like people email us, like Scott
- 1:32:22Speaker 6: high here's the list.
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: Of your right what a dude, Well, I mean, you'd
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: have to be next level.
- 1:32:30Speaker 7: Dan and Everett writes in would you rather one win
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: close games against the Chargers and Cardinals or blow out
- 1:32:36Speaker 7: the Bills once.
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: More wins.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd probably say one because what if that scenario
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: is the Bills are sitting.
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: Plus, like, does it matter if they blow anybody out
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: or if they win?
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: Like, just win I think would be a good feeling.
- 1:32:50Speaker 6: Though the Chargers playoff jockeying. I mean, you have a
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: chance to really hurt them potentially at that second last
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: game of the season. They might be really desperate for
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: a win at that point.
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: Agreed, you can be spoiler, like you have four teams
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: that are at least involved in the playoffs. You know,
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: I count Arizona as being at least involved.
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: You know they have a losing record, Faden.
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: Yeah, they're a game back. They win, Seattle loses all
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: of a sudden. You know, they're even in record. They
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: lost the tiebreaker, but they're right there. Not they wouldn't
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: be even. Are they two games back? Yeah, they're two
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: games back, never mind two games eight and five six.
- 1:33:29Speaker 7: Eight five to five past five hundred is the TPX hotline.
- 1:33:32Speaker 7: If you want to get your call in before everyon
- 1:33:34Speaker 7: gets here. You better hurry Brondon in North Carolina's not
- 1:33:39Speaker 7: in at you got any updates for us in North Carolina? Brandon,
- 1:33:42Speaker 7: I read an article talking about Garrett Wilson, who may
- 1:33:46Speaker 7: request the trade next year. Is there any possibility that
- 1:33:49Speaker 7: he could become available? If so, would you rather have
- 1:33:52Speaker 7: Wilson or t Higgins? Also, I'd rather have Garrett.
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: Wilson, I would mean to me too, I think there's
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: a zero percent chance the Jets would trade him to
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: the Patriots.
- 1:34:01Speaker 7: Yeah, Also, do you think Mayo and Kraft would have
- 1:34:03Speaker 7: the guts to move on from Covington? Are defense and
- 1:34:06Speaker 7: needs answers, and I don't think he has experience to
- 1:34:08Speaker 7: give those answers.
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: I mean, I think he's he's he's up against it
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: here these last few games. That couple, you know, challenges,
- 1:34:16Speaker 6: real challenges with Kyler Murray. I mean, I know he's
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: a specialized player, but he does a lot of stuff
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: that is going to challenge this defense and their discipline,
- 1:34:24Speaker 6: things that they've struggled with all the year. And then
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: of course Josh Allen justin Herbert. I mean, I think
- 1:34:29Speaker 6: DeMarcus Covington's got to come up with something, and the
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: guys have to execute it for him to show, you know,
- 1:34:34Speaker 6: to get some people feel positive about the defensive side
- 1:34:37Speaker 6: of the ball going forward.
- 1:34:39Speaker 7: Let's see Bretton Lemonster has a critique of Evan. It's
- 1:34:43Speaker 7: been mentioned before, but not what makes it funny? When
- 1:34:46Speaker 7: Evan does the read for Toyota on Catch twenty two,
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: he says the word toyota three times, but he says
- 1:34:53Speaker 7: it like tyota two times and toyota one time, and
- 1:34:57Speaker 7: it's not always the same place. Most of the time
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: he says Tyota, Toyota, tyota, but sometimes the Toyota is
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: the first one or last one, so we'll have to
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: grill him on that.
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: Yeah, well, don't tell him I don't have to observe
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: it first. Yeah, Toyota, Toyota, Toyota.
- 1:35:18Speaker 7: Well, the old guy that used to do the car commercials,
- 1:35:24Speaker 7: his son is now the owner of the company. But
- 1:35:30Speaker 7: the original, Ernie Bot the father, he used to say tyota,
- 1:35:33Speaker 7: Oh yeah yeah in the commercials. Really yeah. He used
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: to say tyota, you old, Oh yeah. I remember my
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: TV Rusty and Arlen writes in can you give your
- 1:35:46Speaker 7: best guess of what role Cole Strange will play this week?
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Does he bump Robinson? Or Brown or act as a backup.
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: We have seen how well things go when you move
- 1:35:54Speaker 7: guys around on the line. Frankly, I'm always dubious of
- 1:35:59Speaker 7: guys coming back from a Pteller injury. In the spirit
- 1:36:02Speaker 7: of the Great White Snark, I predict the narrative on
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: cold Strains be that he would have been good if
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: not for that Pateeller tendon injury. Paul seemed to be
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: the first one to acknowledge that he hasn't even been
- 1:36:14Speaker 7: good a good guard really, hence them drafting three guards
- 1:36:18Speaker 7: in the last two drafts. Do you think he's a
- 1:36:20Speaker 7: center moving forward?
- 1:36:22Speaker 6: It sounds like it. I mean, I would say, I
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: mean Evan, I'll tell you to ask him directly, like
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: what eve been playing and he said center. I'm kind
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: of with what Paul said. I think he's going to
- 1:36:31Speaker 6: be a center. I just and it doesn't make sense
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: to me to say this, but like Ben Brown plays
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: a couple series gets like you know, you get that
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: initial part of the game out of the way, and
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: then you and then you put Strange in and see
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: how he does that. I mean that to me, it
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: doesn't make sense to start Strange right out of the shoot.
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: I mean that that seems like asking a lot of him,
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: especially you know, on the road, where it's even harder
- 1:36:53Speaker 6: with the noise and all the things that go on
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: the center. And I just don't want to see them
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: go to Arizona and say, well, we really want to
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: get a look at cold Strange at center. And then
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: it like severely hampers the offense early on because he's
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: he's new to this. I mean, he's never played center
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: in an NFL game before, he's never played a game
- 1:37:09Speaker 6: in this offense before. All those things that that will
- 1:37:11Speaker 6: come into it. So I think Ben Brown for a
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: little bit and then and then a sprinkling of Strange.
- 1:37:16Speaker 6: I don't know how much it'll be, but that's that's
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: what I think. But even that is hard to really
- 1:37:21Speaker 6: wrap your head around, Like, okay, man, good job, you're
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: out now, Cole, here we go. Don't screw it up
- 1:37:26Speaker 6: like we got a you know, a seven point lead
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: right now or something like that.
- 1:37:29Speaker 7: So, uh, Gerard Mayo's press conference today, I assume you
- 1:37:33Speaker 7: were at it. Of course, from what he said, what
- 1:37:38Speaker 7: do you think he thinks the chances are against the
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: Cardinals this week? Who like chances to win?
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, like, you know, I you know, I
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: think that these guys work so hard, and I heard
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: this some of the players too, Like I think they
- 1:37:53Speaker 6: believe in themselves, and I think that they really believe
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: that if we just play our best game and we
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: all play well and we play together, that we can
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: beat anybody. I think they really truly do believe that,
- 1:38:03Speaker 6: and I'd say Gerard probably believes that too. It's just
- 1:38:06Speaker 6: I think probably the question is really can we execute?
- 1:38:10Speaker 6: Can we execute for sixty minutes? Can we in the
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: big moments make all the right decisions from the coaching
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: staff right down to the players, and can we make
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: the big plays when the game is on the line.
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: And I mean, I think Drake may gives you some
- 1:38:22Speaker 6: confidence that that you know, you have the quarterback to
- 1:38:24Speaker 6: do that, and I think that that's something that hasn't
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: really existed the last few years around here. But at
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: the same time, you also have to have this the
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: weight of the season weighing on you and saying, God,
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: you know, this game, we did this, and this game,
- 1:38:36Speaker 6: you know we had a chance, but then we screwed
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: it up doing this, and you you know, all those
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: things they're not in the front of your mind, but
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: they're in the back of your mind, and once they
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: start to happen, you realize, we're not playing our perfect
- 1:38:45Speaker 6: game right now, like we got to turn it around,
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: and then it starts the snowball. So I think they
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: still believe in themselves, but it's just you're gonna have
- 1:38:52Speaker 6: to fight through some adversity in these games to really
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: prove it and get wins.
- 1:38:56Speaker 7: And these are teams that all want to really need
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: to win too.
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: So you know, usually I always default to who needs
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: this game more? Bottom line, who needs this taking game
- 1:39:03Speaker 6: more right now? And I would say mostly that's usually
- 1:39:06Speaker 6: the team that wins, and going from here on out,
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: except for maybe the last one, the other team is
- 1:39:11Speaker 6: probably gonna need it more than the Patriots to do.
- 1:39:13Speaker 7: Yeah, do you think that? Do you think that a
- 1:39:18Speaker 7: coach who is a young coach like Gerard Mayo and
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: then a report comes out that, yeah, he's being a valuate,
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: his job depends on blah blah blah, do you think
- 1:39:28Speaker 7: that that helps the team say, you know what, we
- 1:39:31Speaker 7: got to help our coach out. You know, we can't
- 1:39:33Speaker 7: let our coach down.
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: It's a good point for it, I think, I mean,
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: I think that that's kind of a positive that you
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: can see. I think, ah, maybe maybe we'll see I mean,
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: it's it seems like they're kind of feeling like they
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: need to rally around him a little bit. But again,
- 1:39:48Speaker 6: I just I've seen this these seasons go so many times,
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: and it's it's just really hard, especially at this point
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: in the year, to pull it all together and suddenly
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: do something you haven't really done. You're usually going to
- 1:39:58Speaker 6: default back to what you've been doing.
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I was looking on Twitter to see if anybody
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: had any update about Bill. It's people are starting to
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: say it's it's close to being a done deal. But
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: I haven't seen anybody inside Carolina UNC finalizing deal to
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: land Bill Belichick as new new football coach. But I
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: don't think yet anybody has said it's done, but certainly
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: looks like it's trending that way.
- 1:40:22Speaker 7: So who's who do you think the staff is if
- 1:40:24Speaker 7: this happens? You were thinking about it, because if the
- 1:40:27Speaker 7: reports are true, part of Bill's demands are that they
- 1:40:32Speaker 7: hire a GM who handles the recruiting part of it,
- 1:40:37Speaker 7: and that this GM would require a buyout. So he
- 1:40:41Speaker 7: said so the way it was in the report, it's
- 1:40:43Speaker 7: it's confusing. It's as a sitting GM who would require
- 1:40:46Speaker 7: a buyout. There's two ways to look at that. So
- 1:40:50Speaker 7: this person would be our GM, and if you want
- 1:40:52Speaker 7: to get rid of them, you have to give him
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: a buyout. Or it's someone who already has a job
- 1:40:57Speaker 7: that we need to buy out to get him here.
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: That's how I think it's. I think that's right, and
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: I look at it the same way. That's what I
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: think is that there's somebody out there that he wants
- 1:41:05Speaker 5: to be the GM and you're gonna have to buy
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: him out to get them. I take that as being
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: Bears Nigerian who's at BC with Bill O'Brien. That would
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: be my guess yea, No, you know, as as with
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: most most things with me, no information.
- 1:41:20Speaker 6: Well as a college football ignoringis would Bears his position
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: require buyout? As like what is he director of football
- 1:41:27Speaker 6: operations or something?
- 1:41:28Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: My guess is he signed a contractor do that?
- 1:41:30Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: But but do I know that anyone else you could
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: think of? I mean it's hard to say an NFL
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: GM or somebody who's connected to the NFL is gonna
- 1:41:38Speaker 6: be bought out right like that?
- 1:41:39Speaker 5: That doesn't make sense, right, I think any and all
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: options are open.
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: Does he still do all the TV shows? Or do
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: all those just end right now?
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: But and Evan's here but before But a buyout usually
- 1:41:52Speaker 7: the employee gets the money. But in this case, BC
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: would have to get bought out. How does that work?
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: No, you have to pay the the You have to
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: pay them to go away, right, So if you're gonna
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: if he's gonna leave, right, then he has to buy
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: out his contract, so that the school's gonna have to
- 1:42:10Speaker 5: buy out the contract.
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: I'll let the guy leave. No, that's if the school
- 1:42:14Speaker 7: wants to get rid of him.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: No, yes, Freddie, if he's under contract, he can't leave
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: right unless you pay for him. Then you give him
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: permission to go.
- 1:42:24Speaker 7: You can permission. You don't have to give money.
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: You don't give the person money. But that's what fred
- 1:42:30Speaker 5: Like when Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma, USC had to pay
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: Oklahoma to get Lincoln Riley. It's a buyout.
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: That's how I'm asking. Okay, that's what I'm trying to
- 1:42:38Speaker 7: clear up. So I said, in this case, you pay
- 1:42:41Speaker 7: BC North Carolina.
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: I mean again, I'm I'm making a leap here. Yeah,
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: I think he's talking about beersh Yeah, no, no, what
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: whoever it is? Yeah, guy, guy, if someone is under
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: contract somewhere the North Carolina is gonna have to pay
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: that school money to get that person to come to
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: North Carolina. Right, That's how I took it. It might
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: not be the way it is, but that's how I
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: took it.
- 1:43:03Speaker 7: All right, Evans, here be busting missed. And then it
- 1:43:21Speaker 7: is today your birthday?
- 1:43:22Speaker 8: It is today?
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: Oh wow? They sing happy birthday in the bubble for you.
- 1:43:26Speaker 7: Absolutely no, no, like they used to do with Tom Brady. No,
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: they maybe Kobe.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: I was going to ask this if maybe yeah, for
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: somebody else.
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: Yeah, so actually three people in the organization have a birthday.
- 1:43:37Speaker 7: Evan's back from the waste management field house, yes, where
- 1:43:41Speaker 7: the Patriots were practicing.
- 1:43:43Speaker 8: In full pads and full pads.
- 1:43:45Speaker 7: How was that experience?
- 1:43:46Speaker 8: It was fantastic.
- 1:43:47Speaker 17: I'm still soaked somehow from walking through working well you
- 1:43:52Speaker 17: know what, it's it's raining very hard, yeah, and it's
- 1:43:55Speaker 17: very windy out there today today as well.
- 1:43:57Speaker 7: It's like a Northeastern Yeah, so this is this was.
- 1:44:01Speaker 17: Walking through the parking lot even was you know, uh,
- 1:44:05Speaker 17: you're getting soaked and definitely not I don't even know
- 1:44:08Speaker 17: what you would accomplish in a football practice being out
- 1:44:11Speaker 17: in these conditions, because I know some people, Yeah, what
- 1:44:16Speaker 17: happens if it rains and in Arizona and a dome
- 1:44:19Speaker 17: on Sunday and then they have to deal.
- 1:44:20Speaker 7: With that, you know. So I think they need to
- 1:44:22Speaker 7: work on the more finer points of football right now
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: than rather the conditions.
- 1:44:26Speaker 8: Yeah, it's uh, it's you. You couldn't do anything out
- 1:44:30Speaker 8: there today if you if you.
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: Tried so, so tell us about what you saw.
- 1:44:35Speaker 17: So two absences at practice, I would say, uh, Marcus
- 1:44:40Speaker 17: Jones and Javon Baker are those absences. And then there's
- 1:44:43Speaker 17: something going around the locker my illness wise, I don't
- 1:44:47Speaker 17: want to speculate what that illness is. But we've seen
- 1:44:51Speaker 17: some masks. We saw some guys not practicing today that
- 1:44:55Speaker 17: weren't on the injury report as far as we know.
- 1:44:59Speaker 17: Uh So it's it definitely seems like it's more skewed
- 1:45:02Speaker 17: to defense, it seems like, but uh there there definitely
- 1:45:07Speaker 17: is some sort of bug going around the locker.
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: When I came in. Yeah, and now it's spreading my
- 1:45:17Speaker 7: feeling about Arizona's gone down on.
- 1:45:20Speaker 8: I had the same thought.
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: Yeah, it's probably if you're going off for Saturday, though,
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: you get some some of that desert dry.
- 1:45:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:45:28Speaker 17: It's one of those situations Mike where you walk into
- 1:45:30Speaker 17: that locker room today, every like ten guys got masks on.
- 1:45:34Speaker 17: You can tell something's going around, and you're like, do
- 1:45:35Speaker 17: you really want to be in here today?
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:45:37Speaker 17: Like it's just thinking about myself selfishly, I don't need
- 1:45:41Speaker 17: to be you know, getting yeah, yeah exactly. But those
- 1:45:48Speaker 17: two guys were absent. Uh no word yet on why
- 1:45:52Speaker 17: they were absent, but illness going around. So that's maybe one.
- 1:45:56Speaker 7: Theory, okay. And uh, like we said, full pads, full
- 1:46:01Speaker 7: pads coming off the by was there players upbeat? Where
- 1:46:07Speaker 7: they did? They seem like they recharged the batteries.
- 1:46:09Speaker 17: A little bit, I would say a little bit. I
- 1:46:11Speaker 17: think guys actually really enjoy practicing inside. I think it's
- 1:46:16Speaker 17: a reprieve for them in a lot of ways. You know,
- 1:46:18Speaker 17: being up here in New England, whether it's rain, it's cold, whatever,
- 1:46:23Speaker 17: to to have a day to practice in there always
- 1:46:25Speaker 17: seems to be good juice in there, and you can
- 1:46:27Speaker 17: blare the music so it's you know the music's really
- 1:46:30Speaker 17: loud and it always feels a little bit more lively
- 1:46:34Speaker 17: when we're inside for whatever reason.
- 1:46:36Speaker 7: Yeah, and uh in terms of the media, yes, today's
- 1:46:40Speaker 7: Chick fil A Day, Chick fil A Day, that big
- 1:46:43Speaker 7: contingent jumped up, the big contingent, and we were a
- 1:46:46Speaker 7: lot of people obviously a lot of talk about about
- 1:46:49Speaker 7: Bill around the media circles.
- 1:46:51Speaker 17: Our our guy Cam who just graduated from North Carolina
- 1:46:56Speaker 17: had his two cents about it, which was interesting.
- 1:46:58Speaker 7: And uh happy.
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: He was lukewarm.
- 1:47:02Speaker 7: I think.
- 1:47:02Speaker 8: I don't want to speak for him, but he was.
- 1:47:04Speaker 17: I thought it was cool to get such a big
- 1:47:06Speaker 17: name potentially, but I think he has his concerns about
- 1:47:10Speaker 17: the football side of it. Yeah, a little bit, but uh, yeah,
- 1:47:15Speaker 17: it was That was definitely the talk and you know,
- 1:47:17Speaker 17: a lot of conversation from a big jay journalist perspective,
- 1:47:22Speaker 17: and no offense to Inside Carolina, but like, do you
- 1:47:25Speaker 17: run with this report from Inside Carolina as as fact
- 1:47:30Speaker 17: that he has gotten there.
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: Well, we've had at least one insider on the show
- 1:47:36Speaker 7: from North Carolina say, you know.
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: That's not the guy who runs Inside Carolina.
- 1:47:39Speaker 7: Could be that they're going to make an announcement shortly today.
- 1:47:44Speaker 7: I believe it.
- 1:47:45Speaker 17: I just you know, do you It's not an Adam Schefter.
- 1:47:48Speaker 17: It's not a Pete Dammel, who's the college football Adam Schefter.
- 1:47:52Speaker 8: It's it's you know, somebody just want to.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Love Diana Rassini. She's been the only one that said
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: it's almost done.
- 1:47:57Speaker 7: There almost.
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: Yeah, everybody keeps saying it's almost done. What's the hold
- 1:48:01Speaker 5: of you're almost pregnant? Yeah, So there's no such thing.
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: See the done or it's And you know who taught
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: me that? Bill? Yeah, I've seen these things. And how
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: many times he goes, I assume, you know, you're talking
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: to guy, you think you have it, and it's not
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: quite done, and it's not done, and then it doesn't
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: get done right. It's not done until it's done right.
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: That's when he used to get mad at Felder for
- 1:48:25Speaker 5: reporting on free agent signings.
- 1:48:27Speaker 7: Back to practice, did you get to see more than
- 1:48:30Speaker 7: stretching any.
- 1:48:31Speaker 8: A little bit? We did see one period of positional drills.
- 1:48:35Speaker 17: I would say during that period, Ben Brown was at
- 1:48:39Speaker 17: center with the rest of the starting offensive line. They
- 1:48:42Speaker 17: didn't actually get into formation with all five guys, but
- 1:48:46Speaker 17: they were working some combo block drills and things like that,
- 1:48:49Speaker 17: so you could kind of glean that he was the
- 1:48:51Speaker 17: one snapping the ball at center, so Cole Strange was
- 1:48:56Speaker 17: watching behind him. And I just find that whole thing
- 1:49:00Speaker 17: to be a little interesting, just because if it was
- 1:49:02Speaker 17: rookie quarterback who's been playing great, and I do worry
- 1:49:06Speaker 17: about switching the center on him a little bit late
- 1:49:09Speaker 17: in the season, and how many snaps has he actually
- 1:49:11Speaker 17: taken from Cole Strange? And does that eliminate under center
- 1:49:14Speaker 17: snaps because those are definitely the harder ones, I would
- 1:49:17Speaker 17: say than the shotgun snaps, And so does that eliminate
- 1:49:21Speaker 17: that part of the playbook Now that you can't go
- 1:49:23Speaker 17: under center because Strange and Drake may aren't ready, then
- 1:49:26Speaker 17: there's a lot of communication that goes on between those
- 1:49:28Speaker 17: two guys to get you know, the mic points set and.
- 1:49:31Speaker 8: All that kind of stuff on the road too.
- 1:49:33Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, it's a lot of I'm always just very
- 1:49:37Speaker 17: wary of changing anything on Drake, Like he's playing so
- 1:49:41Speaker 17: great that I just don't want to touch anything and
- 1:49:44Speaker 17: have it, you know, be a house of cards and
- 1:49:45Speaker 17: it all comes crashing down.
- 1:49:47Speaker 7: It's a fair point.
- 1:49:48Speaker 6: It's probably the less than cold Strange needs too.
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: I could definitely go on the other side, expose them
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: to as many different things as you can in these
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: games when there's not the pressure to win is not
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: necessarily there.
- 1:50:00Speaker 7: Everything's an opportunity to learn.
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why.
- 1:50:02Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: One of Mike's things that he hammers home is like,
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: I want to see him play Miami down in Miami.
- 1:50:07Speaker 5: I want to see him go to Buffalo. I think
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: there's value in that. Experiencing is many different scenarios. That's
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: why I think it's great that they're probably going to
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: have three bad weather games to close the year. This
- 1:50:18Speaker 5: obviously won't be one of them, but when you have
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: at Buffalo and then two home games to end it,
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: you probably gonna have three bad weather games. It might.
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: I mean, I know beer with me, he might not
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: play as well in some of those games, but I
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: said he might.
- 1:50:36Speaker 8: He's big, kids.
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: I think he's built.
- 1:50:40Speaker 10: I do.
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: I think he's built for the weather. I think just
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: like Josh Allen in Buffalo. I think he's built for
- 1:50:44Speaker 5: bad weather games. But he played in Wyoming, right, I
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: get that. But now you get a chance to see
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: if he can do it. What you know, what you're
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: dealing with.
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: No, it's not, it is not.
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: Now there's one in Idaho. I think you're probably.
- 1:50:57Speaker 8: Thinking, okay, Steell Travers.
- 1:51:03Speaker 7: It was on the Wader we were talking about this
- 1:51:08Speaker 7: Idaho Vandals with with you'ad saying, you know, I'm going
- 1:51:11Speaker 7: to play the young guys. See how they're doing, See
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: who's going to be here. Do you think that affects
- 1:51:15Speaker 7: the way he coaches these games in terms of rotations
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: and things like that. Might we see a little bit
- 1:51:21Speaker 7: where the emphasis isn't on winning, it's about getting certain
- 1:51:24Speaker 7: guys reps.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: I could definitely want those guys.
- 1:51:26Speaker 17: I could definitely see that at the skill positions, because
- 1:51:28Speaker 17: I think those are the easiest positions to rotate. I
- 1:51:31Speaker 17: would assume, you know, we talked about it a little
- 1:51:33Speaker 17: yesterday that Alex Austin and Isaiah Bolden will continue to
- 1:51:36Speaker 17: get some run at corner over maybe you know a
- 1:51:39Speaker 17: Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, if he's not available, we'll certainly
- 1:51:43Speaker 17: make that more of a possibility. And I'd say the
- 1:51:46Speaker 17: same thing at receiver, you know, with Polk assuming Baker's
- 1:51:49Speaker 17: okay with Javon Baker. He did downplay doing that on
- 1:51:53Speaker 17: the offensive line this morning though, and he said that
- 1:51:56Speaker 17: they're you know, really harping a lot on continuity up
- 1:51:59Speaker 17: front and having the same five guys and to kind
- 1:52:04Speaker 17: of commit to a rotation to get you know, Robinson
- 1:52:08Speaker 17: and Strange and maybe City So and all these guys opportunities.
- 1:52:11Speaker 17: You know, Kayden Wallace when he comes back, he didn't
- 1:52:14Speaker 17: really sound too gung ho about it being on the line.
- 1:52:17Speaker 17: So my guess is it won't be the offensive line,
- 1:52:20Speaker 17: but we could see that everywhere else.
- 1:52:22Speaker 7: Okay, And you think would that frustrate you that, oh,
- 1:52:26Speaker 7: every decision being made in these games isn't with the
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: end goal of winning it?
- 1:52:31Speaker 17: No, No, it doesn't frustrate me too much because I frankly,
- 1:52:35Speaker 17: I don't think there's like a huge drop off in
- 1:52:37Speaker 17: a lot of these positions from some of these guys
- 1:52:40Speaker 17: to another guy. So I don't think anybody's suggesting that
- 1:52:43Speaker 17: they're gonna bench Christian Gonzales to play Alex Austin anymore. Right,
- 1:52:47Speaker 17: So it's like, I don't think that that's where it's headed.
- 1:52:50Speaker 17: But the offensive line thing does interest me shocker a lot,
- 1:52:54Speaker 17: because Cole Strange like probably should be a part of
- 1:52:58Speaker 17: your future.
- 1:52:58Speaker 8: Somewhere on the offensive line.
- 1:53:01Speaker 17: But you have a lot of guards, you know, and
- 1:53:04Speaker 17: you like Leyden Robinson on when he's more comfortable at guard.
- 1:53:08Speaker 17: Ben Brown's probably not your starter of the future. But
- 1:53:11Speaker 17: is Cole strange?
- 1:53:12Speaker 7: You know?
- 1:53:14Speaker 8: Center? Is he a guard?
- 1:53:15Speaker 7: You know?
- 1:53:15Speaker 17: Where do you play him? And how much does that
- 1:53:17Speaker 17: mess with the thing they got going on now offensively
- 1:53:20Speaker 17: with Drake and everything that's been happening with Ben Brown
- 1:53:23Speaker 17: in the starting lineup. So I think that that's that's
- 1:53:25Speaker 17: a difficult one to manage in this situation, especially because
- 1:53:28Speaker 17: it's center in particular, if it was tackle or guard,
- 1:53:31Speaker 17: I would be less worried about switching those guys in
- 1:53:34Speaker 17: and out.
- 1:53:35Speaker 7: And then finally, we have at least one writer who
- 1:53:40Speaker 7: critiques you on your inconsistent use of the word toyota,
- 1:53:44Speaker 7: your pronunciation of it.
- 1:53:45Speaker 8: Yeah, I get this a lot.
- 1:53:48Speaker 7: What's going on there? What the toyota? Where does that
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: come from?
- 1:53:51Speaker 8: I don't know, it's just how I say it. He
- 1:53:54Speaker 8: laid it all out too.
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: It's like sometimes he'll say toyota, right, but then the next.
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: You'll say it three times in a read and twice
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: you say tyota and the other time you say toyota.
- 1:54:04Speaker 8: This is not something that I care about.
- 1:54:06Speaker 7: But why do you do it.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: Evidently it doesn't matter. Fred is intrigued.
- 1:54:12Speaker 8: Okay, that's fair.
- 1:54:13Speaker 17: And I'm sure you know, Kenny, and they're probably mad
- 1:54:17Speaker 17: at me for saying it wrong in the in the reads,
- 1:54:19Speaker 17: so I'll do better about that.
- 1:54:21Speaker 8: What's a correct pronunciation.
- 1:54:23Speaker 7: Toy yoa toy like toy story yota, toy toy, toy, toy.
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: You don't say tie toyota.
- 1:54:29Speaker 7: When you were a kid, you didn't get ties for
- 1:54:31Speaker 7: you know what for hankah you got you got toys. Right, Toyota, Toyota,
- 1:54:38Speaker 7: right toy toy like a toy toy boy, toy.
- 1:54:43Speaker 8: Okay, Patriot best Opers on TV. Go to Toyota dot com.
- 1:54:47Speaker 17: It's Toyota's official deal official website for deals from the
- 1:54:51Speaker 17: official vehicle of the New England Patriots.
- 1:54:53Speaker 8: Toyota. Let's go play Toyota.
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: That's good, that's what That's what the guy said the
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: first two times, and then the last time it's Toyota.
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: I say it right the last time.
- 1:55:02Speaker 8: I don't see the problem.
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: How did your dad feel about the car guy?
- 1:55:06Speaker 17: Yeah, he had a He had a Toyota once upon
- 1:55:09Speaker 17: a time too, an avalon and I'm.
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: You know, willing to change it's a great course. Someone
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: wants to give me one says, working on that?
- 1:55:19Speaker 7: No, did you get did you get an update on
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: that though?
- 1:55:22Speaker 6: Like, wasn't the didn't someone take something recently?
- 1:55:26Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:55:27Speaker 7: No, you have to get some work done, right, Yeah?
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: That was TJ's got the breaks done yesterday?
- 1:55:31Speaker 7: That was good. Uh. James Pettigrew says, my main frustration
- 1:55:36Speaker 7: with Cole Strange is we have a Pro Bowl level
- 1:55:38Speaker 7: tight end being miscast as alignment. When will people wake up?
- 1:55:45Speaker 7: So he's saying Cole Strange should be a tight end.
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: Oh, well that might be next if it doesn't work
- 1:55:50Speaker 6: out for me.
- 1:55:51Speaker 8: We have breaking Red Sox news.
- 1:55:53Speaker 7: Oh what do we got?
- 1:55:54Speaker 17: The Red Sox are finalizing a trade to acquire left
- 1:55:57Speaker 17: hander Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, a real
- 1:56:01Speaker 17: baseball trade.
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: That's there, we go. That's good news. That's an actual player,
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: a good young pitcher.
- 1:56:08Speaker 8: Yeah, it'd be interesting to see if they gave up
- 1:56:09Speaker 8: any of the guys in the miners. Which one.
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: Do you have for him?
- 1:56:16Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:56:17Speaker 8: Major league guy? Maybe I wouldn't Marcelo Maris, Oh I
- 1:56:22Speaker 8: hope not.
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: Fred would be in what's at Jared Duran?
- 1:56:27Speaker 7: Oh? Wow?
- 1:56:28Speaker 17: So they Kyle Teal is the is the big piece
- 1:56:33Speaker 17: in the trade. Who is their top catching prospect in
- 1:56:36Speaker 17: the minors, And a lot of people think is gonna
- 1:56:39Speaker 17: it's gonna be really good in in the pros.
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: So how is the system really good now they rebuilt it?
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: Yep, it's like the one thing you can't even feign interest.
- 1:56:50Speaker 8: It's the one thing heym Bloom did correctly.
- 1:56:52Speaker 6: My no, I've actually heard that.
- 1:56:54Speaker 5: Yeah, five every year you should be able to get
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: some prospects.
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: I picked up enough nuggets to ask questions that are topical.
- 1:57:02Speaker 8: That's a good one.
- 1:57:02Speaker 6: That's a good question.
- 1:57:03Speaker 7: How was the.
- 1:57:05Speaker 5: Prospects?
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: How?
- 1:57:07Speaker 7: You know what?
- 1:57:07Speaker 8: Though? That's a real baseball trade for the local nine.
- 1:57:10Speaker 7: So for them, Uh, Damien is excited.
- 1:57:15Speaker 8: Millikan's real pump, you can tell. Good for him.
- 1:57:19Speaker 7: Damien is from Melbourne, Australia, listening to the show every
- 1:57:23Speaker 7: week and been doing so for about eight years. Interesting
- 1:57:29Speaker 7: story for Fred. Back in twenty nineteen, I was over
- 1:57:32Speaker 7: in Nashville working and attending the Extreme Network's user conference
- 1:57:38Speaker 7: and it included a tour of Nissan Stadium followed by
- 1:57:40Speaker 7: dinner and drinks. One of the special guests that was
- 1:57:44Speaker 7: interviewed by the MC was none other than Fred Kersh. Disappointingly,
- 1:57:48Speaker 7: I didn't get a chance to say hello afterwards, as
- 1:57:50Speaker 7: I assume he headed straight back to his private jet
- 1:57:53Speaker 7: to fly back to New England. That checks out, Yeah,
- 1:57:56Speaker 7: I remember that.
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: I actually remember you doing that late just for the guy.
- 1:58:01Speaker 7: Why would you be there?
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: No, I'm saying, I remember you having to go to
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: Tennessee to do that.
- 1:58:06Speaker 7: I do, Yeah, I remember too.
- 1:58:08Speaker 6: Was that for Trump?
- 1:58:09Speaker 7: You did it? No, it was for a partner. That
- 1:58:12Speaker 7: partner they actually put in our WiFi.
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: He saw me to me like I'm trying to like
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: pump him up.
- 1:58:17Speaker 7: Back and thirteen both of them, both of you. I
- 1:58:22Speaker 7: used the S word that he used the bull la word.
- 1:58:26Speaker 7: Oh that my mouth.
- 1:58:28Speaker 8: Oh wow, guys were fired up in here today.
- 1:58:30Speaker 7: Huh oh yeah about the proper pronunciation of oh you
- 1:58:34Speaker 7: are not toyota.
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: I played it for him. That's what we do. He goes,
- 1:58:39Speaker 5: that's wrong, he.
- 1:58:40Speaker 6: Said, he would that's some AI nonsense.
- 1:58:45Speaker 7: Matt and Devin uk Paul said on Tuesday he likes
- 1:58:48Speaker 7: he likes a bit of caller on caller crime, So
- 1:58:51Speaker 7: with that in mind, next time, Willim and Philim calls.
- 1:58:53Speaker 7: Can you pretend that you're not home?
- 1:58:55Speaker 5: Wow?
- 1:58:56Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure that he doesn't even realize that he's called.
- 1:58:58Speaker 7: And then when cred answers, he thinks up a really
- 1:59:01Speaker 7: random and pointless subject that he then just argues with
- 1:59:04Speaker 7: himself about. He really doesn't bring anything to the table
- 1:59:07Speaker 7: of any relevance. On a positive note, give me more
- 1:59:10Speaker 7: Eldrit of North Carolina, love me some wide receivers ps.
- 1:59:14Speaker 7: The pick segment is the best part of the week.
- 1:59:17Speaker 6: I like, but I know what he's saying because I
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: love him. Willing calls like it's like he's been waiting
- 1:59:21Speaker 6: and then he gets on the line, and then I
- 1:59:22Speaker 6: feel like it's like he's charging his battery to unleap,
- 1:59:25Speaker 6: like he knows what he wants.
- 1:59:26Speaker 5: He's so frustrated. I just can't get it all up.
- 1:59:29Speaker 6: I can't even write like he told him it back
- 1:59:31Speaker 6: and then he lets it all fly.
- 1:59:32Speaker 7: So I like him. I like these good calls. Willham
- 1:59:35Speaker 7: and Philim's good good call.
- 1:59:36Speaker 5: I like I like our callers, I like our listeners
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: in general.
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: We got to do our thing this this offseason, though,
- 1:59:41Speaker 6: right We're gonna do the face to face with the
- 1:59:44Speaker 6: name Yeah face with the name of the callers to
- 1:59:46Speaker 6: work on that.
- 1:59:47Speaker 7: That would be good. Yeap, Who is this guy? I
- 1:59:50Speaker 7: don't know?
- 1:59:51Speaker 6: Todd North Carolina?
- 1:59:52Speaker 7: All right, yeah, all right, well that's gonna do it

- 2:00:21Speaker 6: Good week for Mike straight up, but very very middling.
- 2:00:26Speaker 5: It seemed like they weren't a tremendous amount of upsets,
