Transcript
- 0:00This is The Catholic Current with Fr. Robert Mittaig.
- 0:05I suppose it has always been the case that news, just by definition, if you're covering
- 0:10story A, you're not covering story B. If you've got your camera focused on this frame, the
- 0:15camera isn't focused outside of the frame.
- 0:18There has to be selection.
- 0:20That's inevitable.
- 0:21What concerns me is the principle for selection.
- 0:25All news is truth filtered through the spirit of the age and whatever ends they see.
- 0:34Praise be Jesus Christ.
- 0:35This is Fr.
- 0:36Robert Mittaig of The Society of Jesus, your daily host for The Catholic Current, where
- 0:40we bring Christ to the world and the world to Christ.
- 0:42You're listening to us from the station of The Cross Studios, your local radio station,
- 0:46the iCatholic Radio mobile app, where we proclaim the fullness of truth with clarity and charity.
- 0:51As always, let's start with prayer.
- 0:53In the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, Almighty God, through the intercession
- 0:57of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we ask that you pour forth your Holy Spirit upon us, a spirit
- 1:01of discernment that might hear your voice and obey your command.
- 1:04In the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
- 1:07Hey friends, it's Friday here at The Catholic Current.
- 1:09You know what that means, you and me.
- 1:10Let's talk about this, walking through a complex issue together, and I've got to be really
- 1:16up front.
- 1:17This is a very loud listener advisory.
- 1:22I'm going to be talking about a dark, painful, scandalous, ugly topic.
- 1:29If you're listening with young ears in your company, this may be the time to wait and
- 1:34pick it up on the podcast platform.
- 1:37Here's the title, Is There a Muslim Rape War in Britain?
- 1:44Over the years, there's been references to grooming gangs, and it was poo-pooed by the
- 1:51media and the politicians, and it was all those extremists, right-wing racists, diversity
- 1:59is our strength, multiculturalism, et cetera, et cetera.
- 2:03There have been a couple of government-sponsored, let's sweep this under the rug, and only very
- 2:11recently, just in the past several days, there has been a new report, an honest report, called
- 2:20the Rape Gang Inquiry Report, and it's been sponsored by a Member of Parliament, Rupert
- 2:29Lowe, and very many others.
- 2:32I'm going to, and you know, if you want to, we're going to link to the report and you
- 2:37can see for yourself.
- 2:39The details are horrifying.
- 2:42I wish I could floss my brain and never have these images and thoughts and words in my
- 2:49mind ever again, and we're not going to go step-by-step with the victim reports and the
- 2:57medical reports.
- 2:59It's too much.
- 3:01I'm thick-skinned, and I've been to hell and back more times than I can count, and this
- 3:06is one of the most difficult things that I have ever read.
- 3:09So bottom line up front, since at least the 1970s, over 250,000 British girls were raped
- 3:26repeatedly by large gangs with unspeakable violence, and according to the perpetrators
- 3:36themselves, these girls were selected because they were white, because they were British,
- 3:44and because they were Christian.
- 3:48This is the account from the perpetrators themselves.
- 3:52This is beyond dispute.
- 3:56What's also beyond dispute is that at every turn, whenever responsible individuals, mandated
- 4:06reporters, legal, civil, educational, and medical authorities could have intervened
- 4:14on behalf of an individual girl or a group of girls, they turned a blind eye.
- 4:23They failed.
- 4:27When one mother called the police and said, I think the men responsible are Asian men,
- 4:34she was told, and here I quote, don't say they're Asian men, that's racist.
- 4:39Just be glad that your daughter's being exposed to another culture.
- 4:44Keir Starmer, who just resigned as Prime Minister, used to work for Crown Prosecution.
- 4:53He had very many cases of rape by Muslim men, gang raping little English white Christian
- 5:05girls, and his response was to send 13,000 letters instructing them to stop.
- 5:16And that was it.
- 5:18That was it.
- 5:20In the medical community, if you're a health care provider and you're treating an underage
- 5:30girl and she's got evidence of sexual violence, sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy,
- 5:41that's prima facie evidence of a crime.
- 5:46It has to be reported.
- 5:50And it wasn't.
- 5:52It wasn't.
- 5:54The long-time Muslim mayor of London has said in response to this report and others like
- 6:03it, the issue is complex and we don't want to encourage the racists.
- 6:11I produced a video on Wednesday as kind of a foreshadowing of this podcast today, and
- 6:19I had asked for help.
- 6:21I said, you know, can you give me news articles in the West where this report was noticed?
- 6:28My friends in England said the BBC has buried it.
- 6:31They said, oh, we talked about this stuff years ago, there's no reason to report it.
- 6:37Can you get me statements from clergy of any stripe?
- 6:40Can you get me statements from feminist scholars?
- 6:45Can you get me statements from women's study centers, UN organizations?
- 6:49Can you get me statements from migrant advocacy groups?
- 6:55No one wants to talk about this.
- 6:59Social justice warriors don't want to talk about this.
- 7:05Advocates of diversity, equity, and inclusion don't want to talk about this.
- 7:12Advocates of female empowerment don't want to talk about this.
- 7:15I mentioned that some years ago the UN Women's Conference had a program called He for She
- 7:25and inviting men to step up on behalf of gender equity, and actress Emma Watson, who made
- 7:31her fortune in the Harry Potter films, said that she lamented that when young girls tried
- 7:41to exercise leadership, they were called pushy, and when they tried to speak up on their own
- 7:46behalf and exercise agency, they were called bossy.
- 7:52And she admitted that she herself had suffered such indignities.
- 7:59I haven't heard Emma Watson's statement about this either.
- 8:03If you're aware of that, you can contact us at stationofthecross.com slash askfather.
- 8:09Send me that information.
- 8:10I do know that Mrs. Sarah Mullaly, former nurse, now current occupant of Canterbury
- 8:16Cathedral, says she wants to raise money in reparation for victims of slavery.
- 8:23Now she's talking about victims of past slavery, not the slavery that's taking place actively
- 8:30in North Africa, and not the sexual slavery taking place in the United Kingdom.
- 8:36Now whatever the merits of giving money in reparation for slavery from people who had
- 8:42nothing to do with it to people who had nothing to do with it, in her own country, in her
- 8:49own city, indeed in every city she's ever lived, there are girls who have been gang-raped
- 8:57violently by Muslim men because they were white, because they were British, and because
- 9:02they were Christian.
- 9:04If we're going to raise money for reparation, let's raise it for a cause where not only
- 9:09are the victims and the perpetrators still alive, but also are very often, all too often,
- 9:17neighbors.
- 9:19So what do you say, Sarah Mullaly?
- 9:23What do you say, Church of England?
- 9:26You want to rally the people?
- 9:28You want to make reparations?
- 9:30You want to give out cash payouts?
- 9:34Start with these girls.
- 9:37Start with these 250,000 girls, and that's a low estimate.
- 9:45Not to mention we're only talking about the United Kingdom and not other countries.
- 9:50That's another topic for another time.
- 9:52So friends, please understand, I am heart-sick.
- 9:56I am outraged to say that I'm indignant and revolted is not enough.
- 10:03Every relevant institution and nearly every relevant individual failed these girls.
- 10:11And when families spoke up, when fathers intervened, they were threatened and often arrested.
- 10:20When the girls presented themselves as having been drugged and gang-raped by cultural enrichers,
- 10:28or adherents of the religion of peace, the girls were often arrested for drunken and
- 10:35disorderly conduct.
- 10:37Think about that.
- 10:39Think about that.
- 10:41Teachers, hospitals, churches, law enforcement, politicians, social justice warriors, feminist
- 10:50scholars were silent or worse in a complicit way.
- 10:55And as Catholics, we need to talk about it.
- 10:58I'm Jesuit Father Robert McTague, your host here every day here at The Catholic Current.

- 12:56It's Friday here at The Catholic Current.
- 12:58Friends, I've got to give you a very serious and earnest listener advisory.
- 13:03We're dealing with a very mature, painful, ugly, dark topic.
- 13:09Listener discretion is advised.
- 13:11And if you're listening with young ears right now on the radio, you might want to wait and
- 13:15pick it up on our podcast platform.
- 13:17Here's the topic.
- 13:18Is there a Muslim rape war in Britain?
- 13:21Recently, a definitive and honest report of what had been called the grooming gang problem
- 13:28in the United K was released.
- 13:30In summary, for at least 50 years, gangs of mostly Pakistani Muslim men targeted and
- 13:40raped repeatedly and violently young girls, and by their own account, and this is beyond
- 13:47dispute, raped them because they were white, because they were Christian, and because they
- 13:53were British.
- 13:55And every relevant institution failed these girls for decades, for decades.
- 14:04And I said I wasn't going to go into great detail.
- 14:06I'll just give you one tidbit or flavor of the horror.
- 14:11I was sitting with my brother-in-law recently, and we talked about how humans can't appreciate
- 14:16scale.
- 14:17I mean, we understand what $100 mean.
- 14:21At a stretch, we could understand $1,000.
- 14:25We don't really know what a million or a billion or a trillion dollars are.
- 14:29Likewise, we can understand 10 yards, 100 yards.
- 14:33We can't understand the length of a light year when light travels at 186,000 miles per
- 14:40second, which you also really can't conceive.
- 14:43So how do you process, what do you make of, how do you categorize it in your mind and
- 14:50heart when a girl says that she was raped hundreds and hundreds of times by hundreds
- 15:00and hundreds of men?
- 15:03What do you do with that?
- 15:05Where do you place that?
- 15:07Where do you put that in your mind?
- 15:10And then add, she wasn't the only one.
- 15:14The other thing we need to add is that anyone who could have intervened and saved her didn't.
- 15:20Not only did they turn a blind eye, most of these institutions threatened the girls and
- 15:25threatened their families when their families spoke up.
- 15:29I talked about this yesterday with a dear, faithful friend.
- 15:32He's retired law enforcement at the federal level.
- 15:37And I said, hey, bud, you know, you were a rookie, and you were a senior, and you were
- 15:44a trainer, and you carried a badge and a gun, and you saw ugly stuff, and you kept the faith,
- 15:51et cetera.
- 15:52But somewhere in the 1970s, some policeman on the beat, some superior, turned a blind
- 16:01eye and did it again and again and again until he retired some 20 years later.
- 16:10And along the way, that cop on the beat and his superior became trainers and trained other
- 16:18police officers to look away again and again and again until after 20 years, they retired.
- 16:29And then a third generation, this is at least a third generation of police trainees who
- 16:36have been trained to look the other way.
- 16:40Oh, father, you're exaggerating.
- 16:42Well, the name Henry Nowick mean anything to you?
- 16:47Not very long ago, Henry Nowick, 18-year-old college student, had an encounter with two
- 16:53gentlemen who were Sikh.
- 16:55They were not indigenous British.
- 16:58And the Sikh gentleman perceived that Henry Nowick, who was unarmed, was being racist
- 17:07towards him and took out a knife and stabbed him repeatedly.
- 17:11And then his brother called the police and said, come quick, there's a racist being racist
- 17:16to us.
- 17:18Police rushed in, men and women, and saw young Henry Nowick on the ground bleeding.
- 17:27And he said, help, I'm bleeding.
- 17:30And the police officer said, I don't think so, mate, and handcuffed him and left him
- 17:36on the ground.
- 17:38And Henry Nowick said, I can't breathe.
- 17:41And they laughed.
- 17:43And eventually, this 18-year-old boy bled out.
- 17:47And the police tried to intervene during the court proceedings.
- 17:53The prosecution said, you've got to stop this.
- 17:56But here was the thing.
- 17:57And we see this also in Belfast, where a cultural enricher who is not indigenous Irish tried
- 18:04to decapitate a man in Belfast.
- 18:08A man nearly bled out, lost one eye, may lose another.
- 18:13And when people tried to intervene to save this poor man on the ground, other people
- 18:19said, stop, the police are coming.
- 18:22The implication was, don't be rough to the man with the knife stabbing the white guy,
- 18:31because you'll be arrested for being racist.
- 18:35So we have set up a culture, a multi-generational culture, where law enforcement officials are
- 18:46so terrified, so horrified at the very prospect of being called, if I may, the R word, that
- 19:00they handcuff a bleeding man and let him die, and then laugh at him when he says, I can't
- 19:08breathe.
- 19:10Think about that.
- 19:13Three generations of law enforcement have enforced a culture that causes people to turn
- 19:24a blind eye when obviously unspeakable, heinous crimes are being committed against their citizens
- 19:35for fear of the R word.
- 19:38The same thing, of course, happened in medicine.
- 19:42Every health care provider is a mandated reporter.
- 19:45If you suspect abuse, you have to report it.
- 19:49Friends, this is a very difficult topic.
- 19:52Again, listener discretion is advised.
- 19:55We're talking about whether there's a Muslim rape war in Britain.
- 19:59I'm not going to read to you the cases where the medical doctors saw undeniably obvious
- 20:09physical evidence of brutal sexual crime.
- 20:14They are obliged to report it by law, and they did nothing.
- 20:22Now, I've worked in hospitals.
- 20:24I've worked in medical ethics.
- 20:26I've worked in emergency rooms.
- 20:27I've worked in trauma centers.
- 20:29Whenever there's a doctor in that emergent kind of situation, there's a nurse, and there's
- 20:35a trainee or an intern of some sort, and those trainees are learning to be complicit in unspeakable
- 20:49sexual crime against girls for weeks and months and years and decades and generations.
- 20:58And I have to ask, and look, I'm nearly impossible to scandalize, and I've been a sinner as long
- 21:07as I can remember, and I've been hearing confessions for almost 30 years.
- 21:12I know how sin works.
- 21:17I know that to be involved in sin repeatedly, you have to tell yourself lies.
- 21:25You have to numb part of your soul, and if the time is sufficiently long and the crimes
- 21:33are sufficiently heinous, you have to smother, incapacitate, kill part of your soul.
- 21:44So one of the questions I want to ask, and I want to have you think about, and I want
- 21:48you to think about this the next time you get ready to negotiate with your sin.
- 21:54Those police, those medical officers, those social workers, those educators, those politicians
- 22:06who knew, who knew, what did they say to themselves that day that allowed them to walk away?
- 22:18What did they say to themselves as they turned out the light and tried to sleep?
- 22:24What did they say to themselves the next morning as they got ready for work?
- 22:30And what did they say to themselves as they threatened the victims and their families?
- 22:38What did they say?
- 22:40And the politicians, what story did they tell themselves?
- 22:44Did they say, hey, you know, this ethnicity and religion that's involved in the rape gangs,
- 22:52they tend to vote as a block.
- 22:55That can be really valuable.
- 22:59If I turn the other way, will they be grateful?
- 23:04Will they vote for me?
- 23:07Will they vote for me again?
- 23:09Will they stop voting for me if I speak up?
- 23:14What did they say to themselves?
- 23:19Friends, my point is this.
- 23:21Negotiating with sin is always stupid.
- 23:27You can't invite the devil into your life and expect him to behave and agree to be a junior partner.
- 23:38You can't.
- 23:40You can't do that.
- 23:43Also going to go out on a limb here.
- 23:45A lot of people have suggested to me, and I'm going to pass this on to you,
- 23:48something to consider as we come up on the break.
- 23:51Is it a really good idea to invite by the millions people who hate you,
- 24:01who despise you, who think you're subhuman and find your religion false and grotesque?
- 24:11Is it good, people have asked me, to invite those people into your country by the millions
- 24:19to give them free things and to turn a blind eye when they act with gruesome violence against the indigenous population?
- 24:30Is that a good thing?
- 24:34Is that the kind of thing you want to have on your conscience as you go to meet your maker?
- 24:40These are the questions that people have asked me, and I will ask you.
- 24:44And please, friends, again, as a lifelong sinner and as a confessor of almost 30 years,
- 24:49I'm telling you right now, stop negotiating with your sin.
- 24:55I'm Jesuit Father Robert McTague, your host here every day of the Catholic Current.

- 26:55Friends, it's Friday here at the Catholic Current.
- 26:57Let's talk about this.
- 26:58We walked through a complex issue together.
- 27:00I want to give a very loud and clear listener discretion advisory.
- 27:06We're talking about a mature, brutally painful subject.
- 27:12So listener discretion is advised.
- 27:14And if you're listening with young ears, you might want to wait and get our podcast at another time.
- 27:22Here's the topic.
- 27:23Is there a Muslim rape war in Britain?
- 27:26The short answer is yes.
- 27:28The short answer is yes.
- 27:30Yes, there is.
- 27:31Yes, there is.
- 27:33A most recent report came out from Parliament about it.
- 27:37Really one of the first honest reports.
- 27:40And it is beyond appalling and horrifying.
- 27:43Since at least the 1970s, nearly every institution in Britain has been turning a blind eye to the horrifying fact
- 27:54that over 250,000 British girls were gang-raped primarily by Pakistani Muslims.
- 28:01And by the account of the assailants, it was done because the girls were white and Christian and British.
- 28:07And nearly every institution turned a blind eye for decades.
- 28:14It was baked into the culture.
- 28:19Policemen came up being mentored by their seniors who told them to say and do nothing except to harass and threaten and arrest those who were victimized or complained.
- 28:31Medical health care providers were turned to keep silent about cases that the law obliged them to report.
- 28:39Social workers, educational institutions, churches, they were all in on it.
- 28:47Because nobody wanted to be called racist.
- 28:53Of course, Islam is a religion, not a race, but that's another topic for another time.
- 29:00So, how did we get here?
- 29:04That's the question I keep asking.
- 29:07And my goodness, there's plenty of blame to go around.
- 29:11And, you know, when do we start the clock?
- 29:15But why is it okay for us to get misty-eyed about defending the rights of indigenous persons unless the indigenous persons are European?
- 29:24Why is that?
- 29:27Why is it okay that we can talk about the gorgeous mosaic of diversity unless the contribution is Christian?
- 29:35Why is that?
- 29:37Well, I'm going to give you my short, my very short answer to that because I want to talk about other things.
- 29:46Critical theory is a school of thought derived from Marxism that teaches people to say there's only two groups of people in the world, the oppressor and the oppressed.
- 30:02And the oppressors are all white and Christian and mostly men and, of course, heterosexual.
- 30:13And everybody else is the victim on this account and it's time to victimize the oppressors because reasons.
- 30:26And certainly in Britain that's been baked into the culture and the schools for years and years and years.
- 30:34This is beyond dispute.
- 30:36You know, we've got to decolonize the curriculum and there are institutions who proudly admitted that they were no longer going to be too male, too pale, and too stale.
- 30:49And my goodness, for decades now we've been talking about the DWEMs.
- 30:53You know, we have to stop reading the dead white European males.
- 30:57And we've led people to believe that it's okay to victimize white Christians, especially if they're male, especially if they're heterosexual.
- 31:08And everybody else gets a free pass.
- 31:11Looking at a recent essay from The Federalist that says authorities in Britain are trying to criminalize Christian street preaching.
- 31:21Now remember, if you go to London, you go to Hyde Park, they have Speaker's Corner and you can just stand up and speak your piece unless you're preaching Christ.
- 31:31Then you can't.
- 31:32Because the theory is that someone, someone, somewhere could conceivably find it offensive.
- 31:41Last year, 12,000 people in the UK were arrested for using mean words on social media.
- 31:55Now someone gave me a datum, I have to track it down, that, you know, the darkest time of the Soviet Union, at least in my lifetime, was when Leonid Brezhnev was premier.
- 32:05And the KGB arrested fewer people during his reign than the British have arrested people last year for mean tweets.
- 32:15Think about that.
- 32:17Think about that.
- 32:19There's a grandmother who's been repeatedly arrested for praying silently outside of an abortion clinic.
- 32:29Had her hands in her pockets, didn't have a sign, didn't have a microphone.
- 32:34But they knew, they knew she was committing thought crime.
- 32:40And they arrested her.
- 32:42And this idea of looking at everyone through the lens of oppressor and oppressed and it's okay to beat up on the oppressor, again, which is a Marxist construction,
- 32:54and for all the people concerned about being divisive and threatening, you know, community cohesion and sensibility,
- 33:04giving people license to hate a group, can we agree that's not unifying?
- 33:12It's certainly not Christian.
- 33:15And yet there is a lot of money to be made vilifying the putative historical villains,
- 33:25and not mentioning inconvenient facts like, for example, every culture everywhere has practiced slavery.
- 33:35The Europeans didn't run into Africa and grab people with nets and put them on boats.
- 33:44They bought Africans from other Africans.
- 33:47You know who else bought Africans from other Africans?
- 33:51By much, much, much greater numbers than the New World slave trade.
- 34:00But why are there no descendants of the Arabic slave trade in, you know, the Arabian lands?
- 34:06Well, because they brutally castrated the slaves, and whoever survived did the work.
- 34:12Our children are not being taught that.
- 34:15They're not taught that the British Empire spent a great deal of money to pay for the release of all their slave holdings
- 34:25in all of their empire, and then went to war and spent blood and treasure stopping the slave trade.
- 34:35They don't get any credit for that at all, and that doesn't come up during discussions of reparations.
- 34:43Now, most people ordinarily wouldn't turn down an opportunity to get free money,
- 34:51and the smarter of them will cash in on it by offering to distribute the free money once they take their cut.
- 34:58And I want to suggest again, as we talk about this difficult topic again, friends,
- 35:03listen to discretion as advised. The topic is, is there a Muslim rape war?
- 35:07If we're talking about reparations, I think it's much more urgent to pay reparations to people who are alive right now,
- 35:18who have been undeniably brutally victimized, oftentimes locked in cages,
- 35:24and that we start by collecting the reparations from the people who perpetrated the crimes.
- 35:32You know, let's have the rapists pay their fair share. We often talk about tax the rich. Tax the rapist.
- 35:40Let's have the billionaires pay their fair share. Let's have the rapist pay their fair share.
- 35:47And if you find that objectionable, write me please to stationofthecross.com slash askfather.
- 35:53And I want to talk about the churches, and I want to talk about clergy, and I have to be careful.
- 35:59Because some folks will say, hey, Father, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
- 36:04I mean, how many 50 million, 60 million abortions in the United States were certainly soaked in innocent blood here in the United States?
- 36:15And that is absolutely true. And this is where we have to make reparations to the sacred heart and the immaculate heart.
- 36:24We'll talk about that another time.
- 36:26And I know Sarah Mulally, who fancies herself the Archbishop of Canterbury, wants to collect money for reparations for slavery.
- 36:33But I want to see her raise money for reparations for these rape victims. I want to see her do it.
- 36:43I'm going to rant here. I know that even British politicians and clergy and law enforcement took the knee to honor George Floyd.
- 36:54I'm not aware of any of them having taken a knee to honor the murdered Henry Nowak.
- 37:00But hey, guys, what do you say? Let's do it. Publicly take a knee to honor the living victims of this heinous rape war. Do that.
- 37:14Be photographed doing that. Post it on your social media and send it to me at thestationofthecross.com slash askfather. I'll be waiting.
- 37:26Now, it's also undeniable that many politicians knew. They knew. They knew. And they did nothing for reasons that were sufficient for them.
- 37:38I got to ask about clergy. I gotta. Especially if you've been in a parish.
- 37:46Was there no one in your congregation ever who was raped by these gangs?
- 37:54I gotta ask bishops. You go to a lot of meetings. You go to a lot of cocktail parties. You read a lot of reports.
- 38:02You're buddies with clergy of other religions. You're buddies with headmasters of schools.
- 38:10You've got schools in your diocese. Do you never, ever, ever hear any reports of these brutal rapes? Not even once? Really?
- 38:20Not even as a rumor? Not as a discreet whisper?
- 38:24So, I have to believe that some clergy in Britain somewhere at some time knew or at least suspected.
- 38:37And I gotta ask, what did you do? What did you say?
- 38:43Look, we're all sinners. I myself have to work out my salvation in fear and trembling, as the St. Paul said.
- 38:52But for my brother clergy, can we start talking about it now?
- 38:59Can we start preaching about it now?
- 39:04Can we start talking about making reparations now?
- 39:10If we're guilty of culpable silence, let's repent.
- 39:16And let's demonstrate a firm purpose of amendment by never letting this happen again.
- 39:25By refusing to be culpably silent ever again.
- 39:29And let's not let this issue be swept under the rug.
- 39:36And you know what? Let's cast a wider net. Let's put out into the deep.
- 39:41Let's ask, surely this wasn't restricted to the United Kingdom.
- 39:46Let's look at Canada and France and Germany and maybe even the United States.
- 39:55Think on these things today. Take them to prayer and talk about them with those you love.

- 41:52Here we are, Week in Readiness, you and me reviewing the headlines of the week
- 41:55in light of the upcoming Sunday Scripture, so we all prayed up for Sunday Mass.
- 41:59And I tried to have a good news story, at least one, to push back against my Irish melancholy.
- 42:06And I've decided, given the horrifying topic that we just finished,
- 42:10about whether there is a Muslim rape war in Britain,
- 42:14I thought we'd start with the good news up front.
- 42:17Back in November of last year, I visited the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles,
- 42:26a very, very wonderful, lively, growing, faithful, traditional Orthodox community, Orthodox small-o.
- 42:34And they're renowned for their music, so whatever music platform you listen to music,
- 42:38you definitely want to go to the Benedictine Sisters of Mary.
- 42:43And they also make beautiful vestments.
- 42:46I mean, to die for vestments that you're free to touch, it should be in museums.
- 42:51And they are clearly labors of love.
- 42:55And one of the things I really love about faithful, consecrated women
- 43:00is they love our Lord so much that they want to worship Him.
- 43:06And if you're clergy fathers and you've never had Mass or get to know those sisters,
- 43:13you really need to do that.
- 43:16It'll do something for your relationship with our Lord.
- 43:19Well, I mentioned on the air once or twice that I had very greatly admired the vestments that they made.
- 43:26And long story short, a listener said,
- 43:29Hey, Father, let me help you with that.
- 43:32And as I record this, the vestments have arrived.
- 43:36I have blessed them.
- 43:38They're carefully put on hangers by people who know about such things.
- 43:42And they're Marian vestments because I don't have a Marian set.
- 43:46And we're going to be using it on this Saturday on the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
- 43:51So thank you to the generous listener, and thank you for the Benedictine sisters.
- 43:56And I'm glad to share some good news in this particular broadcast because it's been rough.
- 44:02So looking at the Scriptures, and I'm going to relate it to the news,
- 44:06if you're following the Novus Ordo calendar or the Pauline rite,
- 44:09we're looking at the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Lectionary 97.
- 44:15And what jumps out for me is the last few lines from Matthew 10.
- 44:21And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink,
- 44:26because the little one is a disciple, amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.
- 44:34So the idea of giving a cup of water to a little one who is a Christian
- 44:39kind of lands differently when you realize hundreds of thousands of little ones
- 44:44were in mortal danger and being brutalized,
- 44:48and nearly everyone who could have helped turned the other way for decades,
- 44:53for a lifetime in some cases. It lands differently.
- 44:57That having been said, let's look over to France,
- 45:02and in particular the town of Nimes, a lovely part of southern France,
- 45:09about 148,000 people, and they've been having a heat wave this summer,
- 45:15where the average temperature has been between 104 and 111 degrees,
- 45:19and it was brutally hard for the kids in school.
- 45:23So get this, the parents had a fundraiser and raised money to install air conditioners.
- 45:29Okay, but the mayor, Vincent Bouget, who is a member of the Parti Communiste Francais,
- 45:37said, hey, you take those things out, because it sets a precedent,
- 45:43and not everybody has them, you know.
- 45:46Well, you know what? Other parents can raise money like these parents did.
- 45:52But no, that's not an option.
- 45:55So it reminds me of something that Winston Churchill had said.
- 45:58He said, socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance,
- 46:03and the gospel of envy.
- 46:06And that's where I think that little town in France is right now.
- 46:12Let's swing over to Brazil.
- 46:15Two parents just got sent to prison, not only for the crime of homeschooling,
- 46:22but for refusing to use the government's mandated gender education curriculum.
- 46:31And they're in prison right now.
- 46:36So, what's the moral of the story?
- 46:39Those who really do advocate for children, to protect their health,
- 46:45to protect their innocence, get in trouble by the powers that be,
- 46:52get in trouble by the people who claim to know better than us.
- 46:58What's the moral of the story for us?
- 47:01If we can't figure out that we need to protect children, we're in trouble.
- 47:09And I know that in recent decades,
- 47:13members of the church have not always been on the side of the angels with this.
- 47:18Please, dear God, as an institution, I hope we've learned our lesson.
- 47:23I really hope so.
- 47:25But, you know, we're told that we're haters
- 47:28if we don't want drag queens to do drag shows in front of children.
- 47:32I keep pointing out that they never volunteer to go to, I don't know,
- 47:36prisons or old age homes or military academies.
- 47:40They want to go where there are young children.
- 47:43Friends, I think we need to figure this out.
- 47:46We really need to figure this out.
- 47:48And one of the reasons why I'm convinced it's going to take divine intervention
- 47:53is because we've become comfortable with people murdering their own children.
- 48:00There was a married couple, well-known social media influencers,
- 48:04who announced, hey, she's pregnant,
- 48:08and the child has been diagnosed with Down syndrome.
- 48:13So they announced that they were going to murder their own child
- 48:17because the child wasn't up to snuff.
- 48:20And they were shocked, shocked, I tell you, that there was some pushback.
- 48:24You know, in Iceland, there were almost no children being born with Down syndrome,
- 48:30not because they found some preventive measure.
- 48:32They were just really, really comfortable with murdering those children in the room.
- 48:36It's like ending poverty by killing poor people.
- 48:40I have to double-check the statistics,
- 48:42but I've heard from a number of sources now for the past several years
- 48:45the leading cause of death in the world, in the world,
- 48:51is not famine, it's not cancer, it's not war, it's abortion.
- 48:57The woman who claims to be the Archbishop of Canterbury
- 49:00voted to decriminalize late-term abortions because she says it's complex.
- 49:06No, it's not. It's even easier because it's really obviously a baby then.
- 49:11But if we can countenance the murder of children,
- 49:16what shall we say to the Christ of God when we meet him face-to-face
- 49:23and we hear that he said,
- 49:26whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink,
- 49:31because the little one is a disciple, amen, I say to you,
- 49:34he will surely not lose his reward.
- 49:38Friends, we need a very major moral overhaul.
- 49:43It is absolutely undeniable,
- 49:47and I call upon my brother clergy to cry this from the rooftops
- 49:52and especially from the pulpits.
- 49:55May God's holy name be praised now and forever.
- 49:58I'm Jesuit Father Robert McTague, your host here every day of The Catholic Current.
