- 0:00Hello friends. Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here. Last time, we heard how the city of Samaria
- 0:13was surrounded by an enemy army. Food became
- 0:17scarce, and it seemed impossible that help would
- 0:20come. But God kept his promise, just as he had
- 0:25said through Elisha. Today, we'll meet someone
- 0:28we've heard about before. Do you remember the
- 0:32kind woman from Shunem whose son God restored
- 0:35to life? Many years have passed. She will have
- 0:40to leave her home. But once again, we will see
- 0:45that God never forgets his people. Are you ready?
- 0:50Let's jump in. One day, Elisha spoke to the woman
- 1:08from Shunem. He warned her that a famine was
- 1:12coming. For seven years there would not be enough
- 1:16food in the land. Elisha told her to leave with
- 1:20her family and live wherever she could until
- 1:22the famine was over. The woman trusted God's
- 1:26warning. She gathered her family and left her
- 1:29home. She lived among the Philistines while the
- 1:33famine continued. After seven years, the famine
- 1:38ended. The woman returned to her hometown. But
- 1:43when she came back, she discovered that her land
- 1:46and her house were no longer hers. So she went
- 1:50to the king of Israel to ask for help. At that
- 1:55very moment, the king was talking with Gehazi,
- 1:59who had once been Elisha's servant. The king
- 2:02wanted to hear about the wonderful things God
- 2:05had done through Elisha. Gehazi was telling the
- 2:09king about the time God restored the Shunammite
- 2:12woman's son to life. Just then, the woman herself
- 2:17walked in to ask the king for her house and land.
- 2:21Gehazi told the king that this was the woman
- 2:24and her son. What perfect timing! God had brought
- 2:29her to the king at that very moment. The king
- 2:32listened carefully. After hearing her story,
- 2:37he gave orders that everything should be returned
- 2:40to her. Not only did she receive her house and
- 2:44land back, the king also ordered that she should
- 2:48receive everything her fields had produced while
- 2:51she had been away. God had watched over her all
- 2:55those years. He had not forgotten his promise
- 2:59and he provided exactly what she needed. Let's
- 3:10think about today's story together. Why did the
- 3:15woman leave her home when Elisha warned her about
- 3:18the famine? What amazing thing happened when
- 3:25she arrived to speak with the king. Who made
- 3:31sure she received her land back. What does this
- 3:38story teach us about God's care for his people?
- 3:45Sometimes we may wonder if God has forgotten
- 3:48us. But God remembers his people. He knows what
- 3:53we need. And his plans are always perfect, even
- 3:58when we cannot see them. Thanks for joining me
- 4:03today. Next time on Wonderfully Made. A messenger
- 4:07will be sent to ask about a sick king. A surprising
- 4:11message will be given. And a man named Hazil
- 4:15will discover that God already knows what is
- 4:18going to happen. Until then. Remember, you are
- 4:23wonderfully made. Bye for now.
