- 0:00Psalm 15 from the book of Psalms.
- 0:03First, let's pray, dear Lord, please be with us as we read
- 0:05through the Psalm and open our eyes, our hearts, our ears to
- 0:12what you have to say through David.
- 0:14We ask this in Jesus name, Amen. So this is Psalm 15 is another
- 0:19Psalm of David. It's very short.
- 0:21There's only three study Bible questions, so I'll go through
- 0:25those and then I'll get into the other things that I that came to
- 0:29mind as we started, so I'll read through it first.
- 0:32Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
- 0:35Who may live on your holy mountain?
- 0:38The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who
- 0:42speaks the truth from their heart, whose tongue utters no
- 0:46slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor and cast no slur on
- 0:52others. Who despises A vile person but
- 0:56honors those who fear the Lord? Who keeps an oath even when it
- 1:01hurts and does not change their mind, Who lends money to the
- 1:06poor without interest, Who does not accept a bribe against the
- 1:11innocent. Whoever does these things will
- 1:14never be shaken. And that's the end of Psalm 15,
- 1:19so I will read what the study Bible says.
- 1:21What is the sacred tent here? Sacred tent means the Tabernacle
- 1:25where God promised to be present so his people could come to
- 1:29worship him. Jerusalem's temple wasn't built
- 1:32until after David's death. Where is this holy mountain?
- 1:38The psalmist often referred to Mount Zion, the site of the
- 1:42temple in Jerusalem, as a quote. Holy mountain, Some thought this
- 1:48was the same mountain where God tested Abraham.
- 1:52When does charging interest become sinful?
- 1:55Ancient Israelites were not permitted to charge interest on
- 1:58loans to fellow Israelites. Certainly, Christians today
- 2:03should be as generous to their brothers and sisters.
- 2:06On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with Christian
- 2:09employees of banks and other financial institutions charging
- 2:13market rates for loans to fellow Christians and that's all that
- 2:18the study Bible says about this verse.
- 2:20So there's several things first of it.
- 2:22First of all, in the past Psalms somewhere up to 15, I discovered
- 2:30the I wanted to look at God, Lord and these different words
- 2:37that are used and and go back to the Hebrew to see who is this
- 2:41actually speaking about R2 because we talked about Elohim,
- 2:45El Adonai, Yehovah and others. So anyway, what I wanted to do
- 2:57is I actually this was in the middle of the night where this
- 2:59was. I don't know why it made me
- 3:02think of it, but I was wondering you like, what is the proper
- 3:05name of God? We we found that out when we
- 3:08went back to Moses and the burning Bush where there was an
- 3:13interchange about and this is my name.
- 3:16And so we learned that the name is actually in blue letter
- 3:22bible.com, the Hebrew pronunciation.
- 3:26And I might get this a little bit off, but it's something like
- 3:28Yehovah, Yehovah. And, and so that's what I've
- 3:33been saying every time. So then I was wondering, I don't
- 3:36know where I saw this. I was like Yahweh.
- 3:38Now everybody says Yahweh and then there's Yehovah and you
- 3:42know what's right? What's the correct 1?
- 3:44And so I searched that and I found someone who was speaking
- 3:49about Hebrew literacy and found that the both of them, this is
- 3:56like a pronunciation difference is really all that it is.
- 4:00Yehovah and Yahweh are the same word.
- 4:05It's the way people pronounce them or the translation that
- 4:09came about is is actually what it is.
- 4:12But supposedly scholars say that Yahweh is probably the more
- 4:17proper accepted word instead of Yehovah.
- 4:22But the blue letter Bible uses Yehovah so art Yehovah and and
- 4:27so The thing is there were 4 letters in Hebrew and for us in
- 4:32English it would be YHWH. And so then I could see how
- 4:40Yehovah would be similar to that.
- 4:44But Yahweh would be more similar because Yahweh uses the West and
- 4:50Jehovah uses the V. And then I thought, well I
- 4:53wonder what the actual ancient Hebrews how they pronounced it
- 4:57because I think like in in other languages the West and the V
- 5:02sound different than they do in English when we see that
- 5:06written. So then what I found was that
- 5:09modern day the modern day Israelites or modern day Israel
- 5:15pronounces it with AV but ancient Israel or ancient
- 5:22Hebrews actually pronounced it with AW sound.
- 5:25So this all, you know, I think God knows our hearts and God.
- 5:33And the question is like really what is his name?
- 5:36And and the the Jewish people do not use the name of God because
- 5:41they believe it that the name of God is so sacred and they don't
- 5:46want to profane the name of God. So they rarely use it.
- 5:50And a lot of times they will call him Hashem.
- 5:53I never knew what Hashem meant, but Hashem means the name.
- 5:58So it's very like alluded to throughout scripture.
- 6:02But I always wondered, well, not always, but I just wonder when
- 6:07that interchange between Moses at the burning Bush and it said
- 6:11this will be my name forever, it would.
- 6:14You know, I think that names are really important to God.
- 6:17And unfortunately from the information that we have, it's
- 6:20like, who do you believe, one or the other?
- 6:22Well most scholars believe Yahweh is correct.
- 6:26And then and then this whole thing in English how we took AY
- 6:31and made it into AJI. That again is also I think
- 6:37dialect is what I read. Like Jesus's name was Yeshua and
- 6:43Yeshua translated into English is Joshua.
- 6:47So how did we get Jesus? I did watch a video on that.
- 6:51But it just these are all these different like translations.
- 6:55And so we can only know or rely upon the information that we
- 7:02have. And if we have bad information,
- 7:05then we say things improperly. And so I would say that I as
- 7:12Scripture says that God looks at our heart, that God looks at how
- 7:16we say it. And I I think, you know, his
- 7:18name is very important and it should be used with high at a
- 7:24high regard of respect. I think we all agree that agree
- 7:27with that and in reverence. So the question is, you know,
- 7:34it'd be nice to know what is real, the way it's really
- 7:37supposed to be stated. And I guess someday we will know
- 7:42that for sure. Like, and just even like our
- 7:46dialect, even if we speak a name differently than another nation
- 7:52or another tongue or another area, even within English,
- 7:58people make words sound differently.
- 8:01So none of us should be prideful about knowing that we know the
- 8:07name of God. So if you go back to the actual
- 8:09characters of the name of God, the characters when you look at
- 8:15Jehovah or you look at Yahweh, it's the same for characters.
- 8:20And it's the YHWH in English and there were no vowels in there.
- 8:26So anything that adds the vowels is actually making it up because
- 8:32it's not really there. So some say that it's almost
- 8:36like a breath, like breathing in and breathing out is his name.
- 8:41So we don't know and I'm not going to be prideful about this,
- 8:45but when I what I'm going to do is just continue because it's
- 8:49from the Blue Letter Bible. I'm going to continue to say
- 8:51like if it's Yehovah and we'll know that that's also Yahweh or
- 8:57if it's Elohim or if it's L or if it's Adonai, all of those
- 9:03different versions of God. Then I think like Elohim is
- 9:07actually a reference to the way I understand it is the reference
- 9:10to the the Trinity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- 9:14The God God is 11 in spirit and then either Jehovah or Yahweh is
- 9:24Yahweh is the name of God the Father.
- 9:29As I understand it now, some people make this to Jesus, but
- 9:33then there's another I heard something else too where it said
- 9:38that there was like a something about like God saves and maybe
- 9:46that's what Yeshua means. So I didn't go that deep into
- 9:50it, but my current understanding right now, and you can search
- 9:54this on your own, is that Yehovah or Yahweh is God the
- 9:59Father and then Yeshua is Jesus, the Son of God.
- 10:05And they are one. They are one in spirit and
- 10:08through the Holy Spirit. And just like Jesus says in
- 10:11prayers, and I talk about this all the time, where he prayed to
- 10:13the Father and said for all of us, you know, all of us who
- 10:16believe to that he was praying that we could all be made one as
- 10:20he is one with the Father. Like the Father is in him and he
- 10:25is in the Father. And there's just like it's like
- 10:27the two become one. It's kind of, it's like that
- 10:30marriage and even the return of Jesus and Jesus being called the
- 10:35bridegroom where it's all like about a wedding.
- 10:39And that's what God said about a man and a woman, that the 2
- 10:43become one flesh. But this is like 1 spirit with
- 10:47God. So it's an analogy almost like
- 10:50as a marriages here on earth, that's what it will be like in
- 10:55heaven with God, like we will become one, just like a a
- 10:58marriage is an example of that here on earth.
- 11:00So anyway, just wanted to cover that because I was talking about
- 11:05the words and then somehow I decided to look this up in the
- 11:09middle of the night. So that's the only clarity that
- 11:12I have is just different resources.
- 11:15But and if you disagree with that, you can look it up too.
- 11:19But I think essentially it's like what does what does God
- 11:24want us to know and what's in our heart?
- 11:26And I, the only reason why I want to translate back to what I
- 11:30see in blue letter Bible is that sometimes it's, you know, this
- 11:33is calling on God by his name. So this is a Psalm of David.
- 11:39When it says Lord, he's not saying add and I he's not
- 11:42calling him Lord. He's calling him by his name.
- 11:45The name was given to him. So I think that's it's very
- 11:48personable is really what it is. And then when we get into like
- 11:53who must dwell in your sacred tent and who may live on your
- 11:57holy mountain, we start seeing all this righteousness listed
- 12:01and about that's who's going to be living on the mountain.
- 12:05So which is the future Kingdom where Jesus will rule from.
- 12:10And so that made me think about a holiness because that's what
- 12:15God says is to be holy because he is holy.
- 12:18So I did go back to Scripture to read those references.
- 12:23So what I found was in Leviticus Chapter 11 verse 44, he said I
- 12:30am the Lord your God, consecrate yourselves and be holy because I
- 12:36am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean
- 12:39by any creature that moves along along the ground.
- 12:44That's kind of interesting too when you think about Satan being
- 12:47that serpent that moves, you know he was moving around the
- 12:49ground and and destined to eat dust in the the book of Genesis.
- 12:56OK then Leviticus 11:45 I am the Lord who brought you up out of
- 13:01Egypt to be your God. Therefore be holy because I am
- 13:06holy. Leviticus 19 speak verse 2,
- 13:11speak to the entire symbol assembly of Israel and say to
- 13:15them be holy because I the Lord your God am holy.
- 13:20And again, I'm not actually. What I maybe should have done
- 13:23was go to the Hebrew translation of this to, you know, go through
- 13:27the Lord and God and all of that and clarify that.
- 13:31But I'll just keep going where I am right now.
- 13:32I'm doing the NIV version right now.
- 13:34So Leviticus 20 verse 7 says consecrate yourselves and be
- 13:39holy because I am the Lord your God.
- 13:43And then in Leviticus 20 verse 26, it says you are to be holy
- 13:48to me because I the Lord your God am holy, and I have set you
- 13:52apart from the nations to be my own.
- 13:55So this is specifically talking to the people of Israel.
- 13:59So I think the application can also be made to Christians and
- 14:03Gentiles because of what Paul says in the New Testament where
- 14:08it says that those who are not Jews are grafted in to the vine
- 14:14and become a part of the vine. So originally this was stated to
- 14:20the Hebrews or to the Israelites.
- 14:23So Leviticus 21 verse six, they must be holy to their God and
- 14:27must not profane the name of their God because they present
- 14:31the food offerings to the Lord, the food of their God.
- 14:34They are to be holy. And then Joel the prophet says,
- 14:41then you will know that I the Lord your God dwell in Zion, my
- 14:47holy hill, Jerusalem will be holy.
- 14:51Never again will foreigners invade her so.
- 14:55This will be when Jesus reigns. Never again will foreigners
- 14:59invade her. So that her is referring to
- 15:03Jerusalem. Jerusalem is referring to Zion
- 15:06and that is talking about that place being holy and it ties in
- 15:12with what David said. You know who may live on your
- 15:15holy mountain. And then again a reference to
- 15:17the holy mountain is in Obadiah chapter one, verse 17.
- 15:21But on Mount Zion will be deliverance, it will be holy,
- 15:27and Jacob will possess his inheritance.
- 15:31So this is where the Israelites will actually possess Jerusalem.
- 15:35They will. That will be their inheritance
- 15:37as God had promised, and it will be holy.
- 15:41Now we get into the New Testament, and in Ephesians 1
- 15:45chapter 4, it's Paul says, For He chose us in him, just like we
- 15:51spent two hours at the last podcast talking about what in
- 15:54Him means. For He chose us in Him before
- 15:58the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.
- 16:04Then Hebrews 12/14 says make every effort to live in peace
- 16:10with everyone and to be holy. Without holiness no one will see
- 16:17the Lord. Now that that makes you
- 16:19certainly think that without holiness no one will be will see
- 16:24the Lord. And then you think, wow, we also
- 16:28know that no one is good from the last Psalm that we read.
- 16:32And I went into no one is good and spent two hours talking
- 16:35about all of that. Well, then that that comes to it
- 16:40makes you question, if no one is good and we aren't holy and only
- 16:45the holy will be on his mountain, does that mean
- 16:47everybody's excluded? No, it doesn't mean that.
- 16:50It just means that we can't do it on our own.
- 16:53We have to rely on Jesus and the Holy Spirit for that.
- 16:58And I, that's my next part of this discussion.
- 17:02So we can be holy is what I'm getting at.
- 17:06Not on our own, though. And that's what we have to
- 17:08recognize. We have to humble ourselves and
- 17:11realize that no matter what effort we try, no matter how
- 17:13hard we try, we are going to fall short, short in our human
- 17:19form, our existence, because of our sin nature.
- 17:22Because sin is within us and we can't get rid of it until we die
- 17:30or until Jesus returns. And those who are still living
- 17:34are instantly like it says, in a blink of an eye are changed.
- 17:38So that is, you know, it's the wages of sin is death.
- 17:42That means we're all sinners. So we all have to die.
- 17:44But there is that one group of people that is talked about in
- 17:48Thessalonians. I forgot which chapter and
- 17:50verse, but where. When Jesus returns, those who
- 17:54are alive and remain will be changed in an instant.
- 17:57In the blink of an eye, they will be changed to their
- 18:00immortal, incorruptible bodies. And so as we have talked about
- 18:06another podcast, I think the whole thing about holiness, God
- 18:09is always trying to protect us. Because I do think that when God
- 18:14is present, His Holiness is he's a consuming fire.
- 18:20And if we are not purified, it will burn us up.
- 18:23And so God's distance from us is actually protection.
- 18:28Even though he is near us in spirit, His physical distance
- 18:32from us is actually protecting us.
- 18:37And where I get this is when Moses was directed to do certain
- 18:42things before Moses was able to visit with God on the mountain,
- 18:46when he received the 10 commandments and God prepared
- 18:51him but told him nobody else can touch the mountain or if they
- 18:54do, they will die. Like we've talked about with the
- 18:56Ark of the Covenant. God gave specific, you know, he
- 19:00purified and made them holy, the Levitical priestly line.
- 19:05They were the ones that could only carry the Ark of the
- 19:07Covenant. Anybody else who did it that was
- 19:10not prepared, they could die. Now somehow it was transported
- 19:17by other entities that were not holy.
- 19:20And I didn't really research that in the Bible.
- 19:22That just came to mind. But something there didn't
- 19:26happen. And they were actually evil ones
- 19:27that had it, but they didn't die.
- 19:29So I, I don't quite understand that.
- 19:32But we don't know all of the spiritual things.
- 19:34Just like Jesus said to Nicodemus.
- 19:36I'm trying to tell you, Nicodemus, about earthly things
- 19:40and you don't understand. How can I tell you about
- 19:42heavenly things? So there's a lot of the
- 19:44spiritual realm that we don't understand.
- 19:47But we do see here that God's command is to be holy.
- 19:52And it says without holy, without holiness, no one will
- 19:57see the Lord. Now Jesus in John chapter 3 said
- 20:01you must be born again, born of the Spirit, and then no one can
- 20:06enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of the Spirit.
- 20:10So the Spirit is. How we become holy and we
- 20:14receive the Spirit through Jesus.
- 20:16So I'm going to get into that a little bit too.
- 20:19So then also in first Peter chapter 1 verses 15 and 16, he
- 20:24said, but just as he who called you referring to God is holy, so
- 20:30be holy in all you do. And then it in verse 16, it
- 20:36says, for it is written be holy because I am holy.
- 20:41That only makes sense. If we are to be the children of
- 20:44God, sons and daughters of God, wouldn't we reflect the image of
- 20:50God? And if God is holy, wouldn't he
- 20:52want his children to be holy? So it all makes sense.
- 20:56But it's just like, how do we do that?
- 20:58How do we become holy? That's not in our nature.
- 21:00We're not naturally inclined to that.
- 21:03Well, it's through God. God himself makes us holy
- 21:07through the Holy Spirit who can dwell within people.
- 21:11And so that's what we have to understand is the Holy Spirit is
- 21:15and it's through Jesus. So anyway, Revelation 2211 says
- 21:20let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong, let the
- 21:25vile person continue to be vile, let the one who does right
- 21:29continue to do right and let the holy person continue to be holy.
- 21:35So there's this is talking about, you know, the progressing
- 21:40to the time of Jesus return and just there's going to be a lot
- 21:44of people all doing their own thing, what they are, you know,
- 21:48what they however they respond to God.
- 21:51And there's going to be some who keep on doing wrong, some who
- 21:54keep on being vile, some who do what's right.
- 21:58And then there's others who will be the holy person who will
- 22:01continue to be holy. It's a process that is called
- 22:05sanctifying. And so I, that was my next
- 22:09search was, you know, how do you become holy?
- 22:11How do you get sanctified? And this time I went to the
- 22:15Hebrew version with the Hebrew names version.
- 22:19And in Exodus 31 verse 13, it talks about this.
- 22:24Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, most assuredly
- 22:30you shall keep my Shabbat. For it is a sign between me and
- 22:36you throughout the generations that you may know that I am the
- 22:42Lord who sanctifies you. So this is interesting because
- 22:48to keep the Shabbat that would be our the you know, the day of
- 22:54rest. And it's a sign, the day of rest
- 22:58is a sign between God and Israel for generations so that the
- 23:06Israelites may know that it is God who sanctifies them.
- 23:11God gives them rest and he gives them rest through Jesus who died
- 23:17on the cross, just like in There's so much symbology with
- 23:22that. But Jesus at one point in the
- 23:26New Testament, he says that I am Lord of the Sabbath.
- 23:29Like Jesus is in charge of the Sabbath.
- 23:32He is the day of the rest. He gives us rest, rest from from
- 23:37works, from works of trying to be good enough to be in God's
- 23:43Kingdom. But it doesn't stop there.
- 23:46Like Jesus did, his death on the cross made it possible for
- 23:51people who cannot keep the word of God, all the commandments who
- 23:56cannot keep that to. This is where the possibility
- 24:00comes in for us to be in God's Kingdom.
- 24:03But what Jesus says that Jesus himself said that we need the
- 24:07Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does that next
- 24:10part of the work. It comes from the Father only
- 24:13through Jesus. So unless you believe in Jesus,
- 24:17you will not have the Holy Spirit.
- 24:19So that's something else that's really important for everyone to
- 24:23know that we need to believe in Jesus, believe that he was the
- 24:28is the Son of God. He came to earth, he died on the
- 24:32cross and he resurrected and went back to the Father.
- 24:37And his purpose of going back to the Father was to prepare a
- 24:40place for his brothers and sisters, his disciples, his
- 24:44followers, and that he promised that he would also return so
- 24:49that they could be with him where he was.
- 24:53And so that is the next thing that Jesus will be doing.
- 24:56He will be coming back to gather his people.
- 25:00And that's where that says he comes in the cloud.
- 25:03And 1st the dead will rise. And then all who you know, all
- 25:07the dead in Christ, not all the dead, but only those who are in
- 25:10him, which is why the two hour podcast was probably a good
- 25:14thing to know. You want to know what's what is
- 25:16in him mean. So if we are in him, if we have
- 25:20the Holy Spirit, if we are being sanctified and we have
- 25:25surrendered our life to to God and we are willing, that's what
- 25:30I always say is willing to be obedient and we allow the Holy
- 25:34Spirit to guide us, we will start to become obedient.
- 25:38And obedience isn't how we earn. We don't earn anything from God.
- 25:46It's Jesus. Death on the cross was a gift to
- 25:49us. But obedience shows God that we
- 25:52love him. He says it over and over again.
- 25:55If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
- 25:58So we can't get away from this obedience part.
- 26:01And if if we want to truly understand what the Bible says.
- 26:07So anyway, and the only way that we can probably respond to God
- 26:14the way David has, and so many times where David was known as a
- 26:18man after God's own heart, he clearly had the Holy Spirit
- 26:24because I think at one point he even said, Lord, do not take
- 26:28your spirit from me in one of the Psalms.
- 26:30So David had this and he knows God by name.
- 26:33He's calling him by his name in these psalms.
- 26:36He's not just saying this like, like we use God.
- 26:40That could mean a lot of different things, you know,
- 26:44referring to God, but it could mean the Father, Son or Holy
- 26:47Spirit. But here, you know, He is
- 26:51personalizing this and speaking directly to the Father now.
- 26:59And let's see where was I going with us afterwards?
- 27:01OK, so I'm in the middle of reading about sanctification.
- 27:04So in Leviticus 20 verse 8, there's only 11 verses here.
- 27:07So we're almost finished. Leviticus 20 verse 8, You shall
- 27:11keep my statutes and do them. I am the Lord who sanctifies
- 27:16you. So right here we say, you know,
- 27:18keep the statues and I'm sanctifying you.
- 27:21This is God speaking. Leviticus 2115 He shall not
- 27:25profane his seed among his people, for I am the Lord who
- 27:31sanctifies him, Leviticus 21, verse 23.
- 27:36He shall not come near to the veil nor come near to the altar
- 27:41because he has a blemish that he may not profane my sanctuaries,
- 27:47for I am the Lord who sanctifies them.
- 27:51So again, they are not doing it on their own.
- 27:54It's the Lord who is sanctifying them.
- 27:57And this makes me wonder, like when this goes back to the Old
- 28:01Testament, like how do how do they not see that it's the Lord
- 28:06who's doing this for them? And even though he gave them the
- 28:10the 10 commandments, I think, you know, those are really the
- 28:12guardrails to protect people. If you can keep all of those
- 28:15perfectly, you can avoid a lot of tragedy, sin, you could avoid
- 28:21separation, but nobody really can.
- 28:24So those are just like guardrails to protect.
- 28:28And if we do break them, we do need to ask, we need to repent,
- 28:32we need to turn away from that. We need to ask for forgiveness
- 28:36and then have it in our heart that we are never going to do
- 28:39that again. And if we mess up again, then we
- 28:42immediately go back to God and ask for help.
- 28:45Because if we try to do it on our own, we're just going to
- 28:47frustrate ourselves. And that's one of the things
- 28:50that I learned after the fact, before I agreed or before I
- 28:55decided, before I actually committed to getting baptized, I
- 29:00wanted to make sure that I was going to be able to truly intend
- 29:07to follow God's commands. Like I wasn't going to get
- 29:12baptized with the intention of I may or may not live the way God
- 29:17wants me to. Like that was not going to be
- 29:19the way that I did it. I didn't want to be a hypocrite
- 29:22because there's enough hypocrites in the world where
- 29:24they call themselves a Christian, but they don't live
- 29:28it. And so I didn't want to be that.
- 29:31But it was also a hard decision for me to make.
- 29:33And I, I knew I wasn't, you know, good at that.
- 29:37And I guess I think I did the right thing by delaying my
- 29:42baptism till my, it was in my heart that I truly wanted to be
- 29:49obedient because if you don't really want to be obedient,
- 29:52you're probably not going to be obedient.
- 29:54So it's a heart decision. It's, it's not necessarily your
- 29:58mind like, you know, this is what I should do, but I just
- 30:02can't. But there is a time where you
- 30:06just don't rely on yourself. You realize I can't, but it is
- 30:11God who can. And then you surrender that to
- 30:14him. You surrender your will, just
- 30:16like Jesus did before he died on the cross when he was like, if
- 30:19there's any other way, because he knew what was coming for him
- 30:22on the cross and the, the abuse that he was going to have upon
- 30:26him and the torture that he was going to have.
- 30:29If there's any way, you know to let this cup pass or do it in
- 30:33some other way, but if not, your will be done.
- 30:36That's what Jesus said to the Father.
- 30:39So he was obedient to the Father in doing this for all of us
- 30:45because it was his blood that was shed that provided the
- 30:49atonement. Without the shedding of blood,
- 30:51there is no forgiveness for sins.
- 30:53So if Jesus didn't do that, we wouldn't have the possibility of
- 30:57being in God's Kingdom. So Leviticus 22 verse 9.
- 31:01They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for
- 31:06it, and die therein. If they profane it, I am the
- 31:11Lord who sanctifies them. So again we see the Lord is the
- 31:15one who sanctifies them, Leviticus 22 verse 16.
- 31:19And so cause them to bear the iniquity that brings guilt when
- 31:24they eat their holy things, For I am the Lord who sanctifies
- 31:28them. Ezekiel 20 verse 12.
- 31:33Moreover, also I gave them my Shabbat to be a sign between me
- 31:39and them, that they might know that I am the Lord who
- 31:43sanctifies them. How many times does it say the
- 31:47Lord sanctifies them? Ezekiel 3728 The nations shall
- 31:52know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when my
- 31:57sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.
- 32:01So that's a future prophecy. Matthew 23 verse 17 says you
- 32:09blind fools. For which is greater, the gold,
- 32:13or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
- 32:17Matthew 2319. It says it again, you blind
- 32:21fools. For which is greater, the gift
- 32:24or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
- 32:27And then in Hebrews this is the last one, Hebrews 2, verse 11.
- 32:31For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all
- 32:39from 1:00 for which 'cause he is not ashamed to call them
- 32:46brothers comma might want to just read that one.
- 32:50So this is again let's let's read this Jesus briefly humbled
- 32:57Hebrews 2 verse 9. Let's see, I want to chapter 2
- 33:08verse 9 from Hebrews. But we see Him who has been made
- 33:12a little lower than the angels, Yeshua, because of the suffering
- 33:17of death, crowned with glory and honour, that by the grace of God
- 33:22He should taste of death for everyone.
- 33:26For it became Him for whom all are all things, and through whom
- 33:34are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the
- 33:40Author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
- 33:45For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all
- 33:49from one. For which 'cause He is not
- 33:53ashamed to call them brothers, saying, I will declare your name
- 33:58to my brothers in the midst of the congregation.
- 34:01I will sing your praise again. I will put my trust in Him
- 34:06again. Behold, here am I and the
- 34:10children whom God has given me. Since the children have shared
- 34:16in flesh and blood, He also Himself in a manner partook of
- 34:22the same, that through death He might bring to nothing Him who
- 34:28had the power of death. That is the devil.
- 34:32So we can see right there if we get mad about somebody dying,
- 34:35that the devil had the power of death.
- 34:42Well, he started it all when he knew, I guess the spiritual law
- 34:46that the wages of sin is death. And then he manipulated Eve into
- 34:53having that, doing that sin. So anyway, it says that start
- 34:59reading that through death, Jesus's death, he might bring to
- 35:03nothing him who had the power of death, that is the devil.
- 35:07So Jesus defeated the devil on the cross.
- 35:10That's kind of probably why he had to kind of let it happen
- 35:14when he when Peter wanted to stop them from taking Jesus away
- 35:18and he cut off one of the soldiers ears and then Jesus
- 35:22healed the soldiers ear. And then he also said to Peter
- 35:25something like, I think it was all in this scene where he said,
- 35:28get behind me, Satan, for you are thinking about, you know,
- 35:30things of the flesh were I don't remember the exact words, but he
- 35:35saw that Satan was influencing Peter, trying to stop his death.
- 35:39But Satan probably didn't know that what was really going to
- 35:44happen. So it was somewhat of a secret
- 35:46what was going to happen, the salvation that would come on the
- 35:49cross when Jesus died. Jesus knew it, but Satan
- 35:53apparently didn't know it or he wouldn't have had it arranged to
- 35:58where Jesus, Jesus would die. I think Satan was looking at it
- 36:01from a lack of wisdom. He doesn't know everything and
- 36:05he was thinking, oh, if the Son of God dies, then we get the
- 36:10inheritance. That's what he was probably
- 36:12thinking, but it backfired on him.
- 36:14So Hebrews 216 for most assuredly not to angels does he
- 36:20give help, but he gives help to the seed of Avraham.
- 36:25So that's Abraham. Therefore he was obligated in
- 36:28all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a
- 36:33merciful and faithful. Cohen Goodall and things
- 36:36pertaining to God to make atonement for the sins of the
- 36:40people. For in that he himself has
- 36:44suffered being tempted, He is also able to help those who are
- 36:48tempted. Well, that's just a lot about
- 36:51what Jesus did for us and why he had to have the flesh and why he
- 36:56had to be a human to have the death to defeat the enemy.
- 37:02So just God's redemption, like his salvation is all by we don't
- 37:08do anything to get his salvation.
- 37:09It was all from God. God knew the way around.
- 37:13I mean, He created the laws. He knew what had to be done.
- 37:16He himself loved us so much that He gave His own life for us so
- 37:21that we can be in His Kingdom. Just think of the things that
- 37:24God has done for us and that we should be so grateful for.
- 37:30And it is him that will sanctify us, but he gives us free will.
- 37:35We could say no, we don't want to be and refuse Him and rebel
- 37:40against Him, which is what we do before we actually our eyes are
- 37:44opened. And then we come to Christ, come
- 37:47to God, repent and turn to Him. But when we're sincere about it,
- 37:52that's what we're so God is so loving and merciful that he even
- 37:57he even does this for us. Like he starts sanctifying us,
- 38:02like it's still subject to our free will.
- 38:05He doesn't ever take that away from us.
- 38:07And we still could choose to be guided by the Holy Spirit or to
- 38:11reject the Holy Spirit. But if we allow the Holy Spirit
- 38:15to guide our life, and even though we probably all hate
- 38:18guilt, that feeling of guilt, when that feeling of guilt about
- 38:22something that we know we should have done but we didn't do, or
- 38:27we did something that we should not have done, and then we feel
- 38:30guilty about it. So guilt could be either doing
- 38:33something or not doing something.
- 38:34And when we feel that, nobody likes to feel that because it's
- 38:38a horrible feeling. But I believe that is the Holy
- 38:41Spirit guiding us. And when that happens, that's,
- 38:45that's that conviction by the Holy Spirit.
- 38:48And that's when we need to respond.
- 38:50And you know, just talk to God in your own words, like God, I'm
- 38:54sorry, I messed up. I messed up here again, that's
- 38:56not what I want to do. I want to be guided by you.
- 38:59Please, next time the situation comes up, help me, give me
- 39:03strength, help me overcome myself and do what you want me
- 39:08to do. Just like Jesus said to him, You
- 39:11know, if there's another way, let me know.
- 39:13But if not, your will. That's what we needed to do too.
- 39:18It says something about like taking up your own cross.
- 39:22I mean, in a sense that's what it is.
- 39:24I mean, in our everyday life, the things that we may not feel
- 39:29like doing, we may not want to do, but we need to communicate
- 39:33with God and be guided by God. And, and then when that guilt
- 39:38feeling comes on, listen to it because I believe it is the Holy
- 39:42Spirit. And if we listen to it, it will
- 39:44be a good thing. There will be good results from
- 39:47it because God is good. God is the only one who is good,
- 39:51as we learned before. So I don't want to turn this
- 39:53into another two hour podcast and I'm going to stop here.
- 39:57This is even longer than I thought it would be, but
- 39:59hopefully this was helpful. And if it was, please share this
- 40:02with other people. And if you're not subscribed and
- 40:05want to stay in the word, please.
