Latest / gasp! the pod / why taylor swift's encore is way deeper than you think!

- 0:00But she also reads. She's a literature girl, and
- 0:04books, famously don't just tell you everything on the cover.
- 0:08It turns out Books got some metaphors.
- 0:21Wow. The encore.
- 0:22You guys clap for the encore. Welcome back you guys to gasp
- 0:28the pod, the podcast for the girls, the gays and especially
- 0:32the gay girls. You may be thinking, wow, these
- 0:36encore Taylor Swift tracks are just the same life of a showgirl
- 0:41type tracks we've seen before. It's also one-dimensional and
- 0:45man focused. There's no fucking deeper
- 0:48meaning. This is what you may be saying,
- 0:50right? But I'm here to tell you you've
- 0:53got it wrong, baby. Not only have I felt like I
- 0:57figured it out this entire show that Taylor Swift is putting on,
- 1:01but I feel like I'm going to make you gasp at these
- 1:04realizations and this story that I think that she is creating and
- 1:08writing for us. At least let me prove to you in
- 1:12this episode that you are wrong, that this encore and the entire
- 1:16Showgirl era is not that deep. There's something much grander
- 1:20happening here, and it goes beyond the theory of Gaylor.
- 1:23We're going to be talking heavily about Gaylor in this
- 1:25episode, but Taylor Swift is a genius in her fields of music
- 1:30and lyricism. We know this, right?
- 1:32But she is also a master planner.
- 1:34I mean, she told us she's a mastermind, yet we're always
- 1:37like, there's no deeper meaning. I don't think she just lost this
- 1:41part of herself. She is weaving, and she's
- 1:44writing a manuscript, a novel of sorts out of her own life.
- 1:49But who are the characters, you ask?
- 1:51I think she plays all of them. I think she even plays the
- 1:56killer husband and who you trust as the narrator, I think is
- 2:01about to change this episode. I'm heavy duty unpacking the
- 2:04encore of the life of a showgirl and pitching you my theory.
- 2:08I think I may have solved it. I'm obviously not going to take
- 2:11all the credit. These are theories that other
- 2:13people have talked about, other creators I really respect.
- 2:15But I'm going to deconstruct all of these hidden messages and
- 2:18explain these songs because I don't think that these are 4
- 2:22disjointed random songs. I think they tell a very clear
- 2:25story and we're also diving into to the Patients era music video
- 2:30and investigating the inspiration from famous
- 2:32literature because I think a lot of this story is very clearly
- 2:38explained to us from what Taylor Swift has talked about
- 2:40literature in the past, including Verity and Rebecca.
- 2:44I think these are two very big inspirations.
- 2:46So yeah, I'm just saying this is not an episode you want to miss.
- 2:49Let's lock in, lock in. So hi guys, very, very quickly,
- 2:52literally 30 seconds in, I'm just going to tell you I'd have
- 2:55bonus episodes out. I have a Patreon.
- 2:57So if you want extra content after this, you can watch my
- 3:00episode about if Dolly Parton was a lesbian either on my
- 3:03Spotify or my Patreon. Please, please, please ring me 5
- 3:06stars and subscribe. Sometimes I get homophobes on
- 3:09here that like literally believe such crazy things.
- 3:14They rate me zero stars. You know how I know that?
- 3:16Because they tell me turn to Jesus.
- 3:18So if you want to combat homophobia that would be super
- 3:20amazing if you would subscribe, read me 5 stars, send to your
- 3:23friends Other updates to my birthday this week.
- 3:26It's Libra season so happy birthday to me on Wednesday.
- 3:30What else? I think that's pretty much it.
- 3:33I do think it's very interesting that Taylor loves releasing
- 3:36stuff on Libra season and right around full moons.
- 3:38I think she's a witch. Maybe I should make another
- 3:41episode about that because I did make a witch's episode at one
- 3:43point on this podcast. OK, let's get into it because
- 3:47after a talk about this announcement that she made for
- 3:50the encore and kind of the bait and switch around it, I am going
- 3:55to just plainly tell you my theory of how I think Taylor
- 4:00Swift has painted her entire career.
- 4:03It just makes so much sense with Rebecca Jane Eyre.
- 4:05And I just feel like this is so obvious at this point.
- 4:08Like this just seems clear to me.
- 4:11Sit back, enjoy the show, you guys.
- 4:13This bait and switch announcement, it's so
- 4:16interesting. Taylor Swift this summer was
- 4:19kind of wearing black and white. Remember that?
- 4:22And she got married, allegedly, and we may never see the
- 4:26pictures of the wedding. So that was kind of interesting.
- 4:28And then everyone was like, oh, is it lover era, you know, is
- 4:30she going to be releasing debut? But we saw her in black and
- 4:33white and florals amidst black and white.
- 4:36It makes sense now with the death of a showgirl vibe but
- 4:41back then it was like what the fuck is going on and then she
- 4:44starts heating U and we get this now infamous even though it's
- 4:48only been a few weeks. Law and Order sketch.
- 4:51Now I do believe, and I fucking said this but no one listens to
- 4:56Cassandra, that all the Easter eggs in the Law and Order sketch
- 5:00were pointing to debut because it was a red herring and
- 5:04everyone was thinking debut. And I know other performance
- 5:07artlers were saying this too, but I straight up was like,
- 5:10we're going to get Death of a showgirl.
- 5:11And I actually was getting hate comments the morning that I was
- 5:15talking about this. Then a few hours later, when she
- 5:18suddenly announced that she was adding another track, everyone
- 5:22was like, oh, we're going to get Death of a Showgirl.
- 5:25I'm like, Oh my God, I fucking can't.
- 5:26Finally, mainstream Swifties are catching on to the idea that
- 5:29Taylor Swift doesn't always lead us in the right direction.
- 5:33There's been, I think, in my interpretation of the Swifty
- 5:36community in the last few years, this idea that, like, we're
- 5:39being crazy. We're being too optimistic to
- 5:42think that she's actually flagging things and that things
- 5:46aren't really just simple. Everyone's like, guys, Easter
- 5:48eggs are simple. OK, it's debut.
- 5:49It's not that hard. Meanwhile, you see a red herring
- 5:54written on the Law and Order board along with her talking
- 5:57about her cat named after Olivia Benson.
- 6:01Olivia Benson, AKA Mariska Harkete, she named her cat after
- 6:06Karma. So then I'm thinking we're
- 6:08getting Karma because there's been a lot of emphasis on the
- 6:11cat and Mariska and the fact that she named her cat after
- 6:14Karma. Everyone was jumping to to debut
- 6:17and I thought there's something darker going on.
- 6:20And of course, she baits and switches on us.
- 6:23She baited us. To think, oh, this is so simple,
- 6:27it's debut. Boom.
- 6:28No it's not. Entire Law and Order sketch was
- 6:31about a murder and they were like pointing to the man and
- 6:35this murder and it said homicide.
- 6:38And I was like, Oh my God, the man is going to kill someone.
- 6:42And then boom, we get this countdown out of nowhere and
- 6:45then she switches up on us. There's no debut.
- 6:49There's a new song, single release, which I think is really
- 6:52interesting. And then the next day she
- 6:55decides to let us know that this is not just a single release,
- 6:58this is actually an extension of the life of Showgirl called the
- 7:03encore. Now, Oh, look, another theory
- 7:06that Gaylors called beforehand where we were saying we're going
- 7:10to get the encore, we're going to get something after the life
- 7:13of Showgirl or an extension or the death of Showgirl.
- 7:15But there was obviously something else coming on top of
- 7:17this because at the end of the open, like music video, it's a
- 7:19patient for the encore. I never saw any Swifties pick up
- 7:22on this until this happened. And they were like, oh, look,
- 7:25it's been right here. It's like, yeah, we've been
- 7:27saying this. So the point is, is that
- 7:30performance art layers are always ahead of the curve.
- 7:32And so if you think I'm crazy right now, I'm probably right
- 7:35because we all predicted what we already saw right now.
- 7:38And I think we are going to continue to see what we thought
- 7:41and then some. I just also do think it's funny
- 7:43last thing about these 50s that they will be like, yes, we love
- 7:47that theory. We'll take that theory after
- 7:49they called us crazy and then they will remove any meaning
- 7:51from it. So like, if you think she's to
- 7:53kill the showgirl and that doesn't mean anything to you,
- 7:56you have to understand that these are characters even
- 7:58regardless of like Gaylor stuff, you have to start thinking about
- 8:01her career and how she views herself and a multi faceted kind
- 8:05of meta way. Or else none of these theories
- 8:07make any sense. If it's just kind of like, oh,
- 8:09the showgirl for fun. Know how I know that these
- 8:12theories are true and that Taylor Swift views herself in
- 8:15these characters? First of all, she's told us
- 8:17this, but she also reads. She's a literature girl, and
- 8:23books famously don't just tell you everything on the cover.
- 8:26It turns out books got some metaphors.
- 8:30She's a reader and that's where she got her Easter egg and
- 8:33foreshadowing skills from is because at the end of the day,
- 8:36and that's why she always talks about being an English teacher.
- 8:39Of course, she's a singer, she's a lyricist, she's an artist, but
- 8:42like she weaves narratives and themes and she can hide
- 8:45metaphors because she reads so much.
- 8:48I think that's the bait and switch in the announcement.
- 8:50Let me tell you guys, beginning to the end, my theory on Taylor
- 8:57Swift and her career. This is my master theory and
- 9:00then we're going to go through pieces of evidence to prove my
- 9:04theory. And I also think the reason why
- 9:07I'm so interested in Taylor Swift is not just cuz I'm like,
- 9:09Oh my God, I love, you know this famous person Whoo.
- 9:12It's because like she creates stories in real time and
- 9:17following her as an artist as this famous person, like reading
- 9:21her lyrics and watching her cuz like her performance art is real
- 9:24life. It's not just written down in
- 9:27her lyrics. It's also about how she enacts
- 9:30it in real time. It's like reading, but in real
- 9:34life. It's like a movie.
- 9:35Did I just come up with the idea of movie?
- 9:37She's creating a movie, but a book, whatever.
- 9:40So a lot of this comes from Patient Zero, seeing it unfold,
- 9:45especially with Dakota Johnson being her, like mirror here.
- 9:49So a lot I was thinking of with like Karlie Kloss being her
- 9:52twin. But we'll get into Carly a
- 9:54little bit later, shall we? OK.
- 9:56There are three tailors. It's not just one.
- 9:58It's not even just two, but how did they come about?
- 10:01That is the question of how this journey started.
- 10:04Who died, Who was born? Are they sisters?
- 10:06Who the hell are they? Are they mad at each other?
- 10:08Do they love each other? Are they in a toxic
- 10:11relationship? Are they possibly all in a love
- 10:14triangle? I think the three Taylor's are
- 10:17in a love triangle with each other and that is why Taylor
- 10:22Swift writes so many love triangles.
- 10:24Think about folklore and the other woman.
- 10:27Is it another woman or is it another Taylor?
- 10:29You can think about the I Can See You music video and the
- 10:32three Taylor's pointing to each other like Spider Man.
- 10:34I believe these 3 Taylor's to be the poet or the real Taylor.
- 10:40The one who maybe she is when all of the fame goes away.
- 10:44The one who she is to her closest friends, perhaps family
- 10:48to her lovers. The real ones.
- 10:50The other is the showgirl, which we know and the people pleaser,
- 10:56but the showgirl character is not new to the showgirl era.
- 11:01And the last one is the narrator AKA the man.
- 11:06Almost like she actually is a woman but she's disguising
- 11:10herself as a man. Kind of like how historically
- 11:13women writers would give themselves a male name so they
- 11:16would be taken more seriously. These three tailors, I've also
- 11:20theorized are the aid, the Ego and the Super ego.
- 11:24You could also compare it to how she's talked about the glitter
- 11:28pen, the fountain pen and the quill pen.
- 11:31But she's pushing us to get to this idea.
- 11:34And I think this music video was the clearest symbolic way to
- 11:37show us that the man, this stone figure in the middle and these
- 11:42two tailors looking at this man that is in control of their
- 11:46existence. That was the moment for me where
- 11:48I was like, oh, wow. And also, a lot of this comes
- 11:51down to you have to watch Miss Americana.
- 11:54But as we know, so Taylor grew up in a business, literally grew
- 11:57up in this. As her brain is forming, it has
- 12:00molded her to please the crowd and please the public and be
- 12:04constantly likable. She tells us this over and over
- 12:07and over, going to Miss Americana.
- 12:08She's like, that was my life. That was my serotonin, that was
- 12:11my everything. Her personal life was sold and
- 12:15therefore she crafted her own life to please others and put on
- 12:19a good show. This original Taylor, the Taylor
- 12:22that we see from debut Fearless Speak now read 1989.
- 12:28We think of this as like, oh, the real Taylor and that the
- 12:31showgirl came after. No, this was the showgirl from
- 12:34the beginning of her career. She had to be the showgirl to
- 12:38get to where she is, and she was forced to be the showgirl by the
- 12:42industry. But by the label, Scooter Braun,
- 12:45Scott Borchetta, the people on her team, right How the industry
- 12:49treats artists, they cage you. I mean, you can go.
- 12:52Who's afraid of little old me? When pleasing others was not
- 12:56enough to make her successful and make her happy, something
- 12:59had to change. It wasn't enough because she was
- 13:02ultimately cancelled. Her attempt to be perfect to
- 13:05everyone backfired and she was fucking cancelled.
- 13:08Having this like goody 2 shoes and like you guys get it 2016
- 13:13right? She tried to release Karma that
- 13:16was thwarted and that was not allowed.
- 13:18I you know, I'm a karma truther and I also think Karma's not
- 13:21just a song, it is a album because Karma is written twice
- 13:26on the man wall, which obviously a lot of this goes back to the
- 13:29man as well. And I think it is no coincidence
- 13:31that in her acceptance kind of montage at the VMA's for artist
- 13:37director of the year or I think it was showed the man.
- 13:42So she was not allowed to release Karma.
- 13:43And I and many others believe that she tried to come out
- 13:47during Karma. OK, that this album may have
- 13:49been about Carly Karma, Carly Gloss, but she was not allowed.
- 13:54So the real girl inside from fucking childhood who could not
- 13:59take this anymore. The rage, right?
- 14:02Real feelings. The person that was not
- 14:05constructed to be this people pleaser, the one that had actual
- 14:09opinions and beliefs. The one who had real lovers
- 14:12besides the fame. She killed off the showgirl.
- 14:17This is way back in reputation. There's many deaths going on, so
- 14:21keep track. OK?
- 14:23The real girl killed off the showgirl during reputation.
- 14:26The girl who was the nice girl that was perfectly poised, never
- 14:29too political. The straight girl, right?
- 14:32I put quotes around that she was killed.
- 14:35The old Taylor can't come to the phone right now.
- 14:37The old Taylor being the nice, perfect showgirl, she can't come
- 14:40to the phone right now. Why?
- 14:41Because she's fucking dead, OK? She killed her off.
- 14:46Look what you made me do. Music video of her lying in the
- 14:49grave. And who woke up?
- 14:51Who woke up? The poet, Angry, emotional
- 14:55person who is not going to think about how she wrote.
- 14:58She was going to write from the heart.
- 15:00That's why reputation actually is angry, but also is a lot of
- 15:03love, because she's feeling like she can write about her actual
- 15:06real love a little bit more openly.
- 15:08For the first time. The poet is waking up and she's
- 15:12like, I'm going to lead in my career with the poet instead of
- 15:15the showgirl. She's not quite rewarded for
- 15:17that. The poet is the girl behind all
- 15:20of the glam, the one who showed us her career self, right?
- 15:23We get lover after reputation because she's starting to show
- 15:26us her real self. And that's why I take back my
- 15:31old theory that like, we haven't met the real tailor.
- 15:35No, we have. We were about to get the full
- 15:38picture. We had started to really get a
- 15:40glimpse of the real tailor and reputation Lover, Folklore and
- 15:44Evermore amidst the new tailor coming into power, though her
- 15:48masters were fucking sold. And at the same time when she's
- 15:52released Sing Lover and potentially trying to come out
- 15:55again and being this new poet girl being like I'm going to be
- 15:59myself, she isn't able to. This is a theory, right?
- 16:04It's like it wasn't enough. She still wasn't free.
- 16:08She had to become someone else. Something else had to give
- 16:11because her being this poet, the real girl wasn't enough.
- 16:15And I also think the poet is not just TTPD.
- 16:17The poet is not just an indie girl.
- 16:18The poet is the real her. And the real her still is
- 16:21multifaceted. The real her is still like
- 16:23millennial cringe slash indeed. You know what I mean?
- 16:25The real her is just when she tells us, when she's being
- 16:29herself. Someone had to take control of
- 16:31her own destiny because at this point she was still being LED
- 16:35astray, even though she was trying to take control.
- 16:39She needed to create another identity, someone that you would
- 16:42only respect because they're a man, and she created the man.
- 16:46Now you can also argue that she created the man before the Lover
- 16:50era. Who could say that she was
- 16:52inspired by her own song about the man and create this into a
- 16:55new character? There's a lot of other ways you
- 16:57can interpret this as well, but somewhere around the lover era,
- 17:01I believe she creates the man, the narrator, different persona
- 17:06and just so there's not like insane people that are like Oh
- 17:09my God, do you think she's schizophrenic?
- 17:10I don't think she's multi personality disorder.
- 17:12You guys, this is performance art.
- 17:14OK, this is characters. OK, this is just get into it
- 17:18with me. So she he became what a woman
- 17:21author would do in the 1800s and she created a man name.
- 17:26He became a man in order to be taken seriously and she started
- 17:29to rewrite her own narrative and become the narrator and the
- 17:33captain of her own motherfucking ship because she could not trust
- 17:36her own label. She could not trust the industry
- 17:39behind her and she had to take everything into her own hands.
- 17:42Being herself was not enough. It was being taken advantage of.
- 17:45And this is all reflected in her music.
- 17:47The man is the person that designed and the coming
- 17:50narratives. The man decided and constructed
- 17:53the best way for Taylor Swift, which is the combination of
- 17:57these three perhaps sisters to survive or these three people in
- 18:01this love triangle, right? That's like a love hate dynamic
- 18:06murder mystery, almost tail as old as time.
- 18:09The three personalities of yourself, the add, the ego and
- 18:13the Super ego. The man decides who lives or
- 18:16dies because that's what man does on this motherfucking earth
- 18:19already. It's actually a great metaphor.
- 18:21It also was reflected in Patient Zero, the man trying to kill off
- 18:25both of these women and deciding who dies himself.
- 18:29But what if Colin Farrell is also Taylor Swift, the man?
- 18:33Do you see them pinning down? The man decides who lives or
- 18:35dies so that she is never at the whim of those that put her in
- 18:39the cage. Only she is allowed to cage
- 18:41herself again. She goes, if I'm not going to
- 18:44tell my truth, it's going to be me who tells myself not to tell
- 18:47the truth. She's the only one allowed to
- 18:50kill herself, the one who tried to come out when Taylor Swift
- 18:53was not allowed to come out and love her.
- 18:55She obviously reckoned with the pain of this throughout folklore
- 18:59and Evermore, right? She's still the poet here, even
- 19:02though the man is directing the narrative.
- 19:04The man is omnipresent, right? The man is allowing the poet to
- 19:08be in control at this point. And by the time Midnight's comes
- 19:12around, the man decided to take full fucking control of the
- 19:15narrative. OK, The man is telling the
- 19:18stories in Midnights. The man is in control in
- 19:21Midnights. The man is like, this is the
- 19:23story, this is the narrative. These are the themes.
- 19:26This is what's going to happen. And he tells the story of
- 19:29Cinderella. And at the end of Midnight, the
- 19:31man said in the manuscript, the story isn't mine anymore.
- 19:35Why? Because the man knew what needed
- 19:37to be done and that the narrative was going to be
- 19:40switched. The perspective was switched.
- 19:42The man knew that the showgirl needed to come back to reclaim
- 19:46what was taken from her during all of those years ago, working
- 19:50for a different man. The showgirl went through so
- 19:53much trauma working for this label that caged her right?
- 19:58And the man was telling us in the Midnight's era, guess what?
- 20:01The showgirl's going to tell her story.
- 20:04Be ready. And the Bejeweled music video?
- 20:06This is told very plainly. Right, that this girl who's the
- 20:10poet, right? All of a sudden magic is going
- 20:14to happen and she will be the showgirl for one night, telling
- 20:17us this story at midnight, going through these different eras,
- 20:20whatever, whatever. Then what happens at midnight?
- 20:22Guys, meet me at midnight. The magic is taken away, 321
- 20:28exile is over, and then the narrative switches again.
- 20:31The showgirl is then released from the magic and the real
- 20:35girl, the poet, is revealed the top of the castle.
- 20:39OK, this is the man telling us the story that starts to play
- 20:44out from Midnights. And we can see this in like a
- 20:47lot of our theories, we can see Midnights is definitely a shift
- 20:50in that we're still seeing themes from Midnights still play
- 20:53out because this is a plan that she created back then.
- 20:57This is a narrative that we're still in.
- 20:59This is a story and it's not just musically.
- 21:02It's not just about muses. It has almost nothing to do with
- 21:04romances, More so about how she views herself and how the
- 21:08industry has forced her to become a chameleon and forced
- 21:11her to separate herself into these three different people.
- 21:14And not just the industry, but misogyny and homophobia and man
- 21:19at the top of it, these powerful music labels that force women to
- 21:23become a very certain thing and women having to be people
- 21:26pleasers in order to be successful.
- 21:28And then that going back and biting them in the ass at
- 21:31midnight again. We were told this wave of a
- 21:33fairy wand AKA the showgirl magic would go away.
- 21:36But in the meantime, because we are not yet at midnight, 321,
- 21:41exile is over. Exile of the girl, exile of the
- 21:45poet. 321 could be taken as Midnight's count back, right?
- 21:51So like after Midnight's, which is 12, then we have T2B which is
- 21:5411, then we have The Life of Showgirl, which is 12, and then
- 21:56what is 13? That's three.
- 21:58So the idea is that at 13 we're going to then meet me, which is
- 22:04the poet, which you could go back to lover era and say, OK,
- 22:09look, it's me. This is like who she was, right?
- 22:11But she didn't get to fully reveal herself.
- 22:14Why couldn't she fully reveal herself?
- 22:16Because she was still under control of these men, the men
- 22:22that historically controlled women like Ophelia made her go
- 22:26mad. And in order to reclaim what she
- 22:29was owed, which is her own work that she worked for and
- 22:34sacrificed for by being the showgirl for or half of her
- 22:38career. This is something only the
- 22:39showgirl can do though. And the man said, all right, we
- 22:43got to bring the showgirl back to reclaim these masters.
- 22:46But in order to do that, we have to kill off the poet, which
- 22:50sucks, and we're going to have to sacrifice that for a second
- 22:53in order for her to get to the top of the castle.
- 22:55So in Midnight's the man, along with the showgirl plot to kill
- 22:59the poet off. You can see in the antihero
- 23:01music video, it's foreshadowing. This is like another great music
- 23:05video to show the plan for what was to come, right?
- 23:08There's three tailors. OK, There's the poet, there's
- 23:12the evil showgirl. That's like so fun drinking
- 23:15shots, right? But she seems to have like no
- 23:17emotion and she looks evil. She looks like she's about to
- 23:20kill the poet and her looking at her in the mirror looks eerily
- 23:25to me, like Dakota and Taylor looking each other.
- 23:28The poet had no idea what was coming for her.
- 23:31Poor girl. And then you can also see, I
- 23:33think the narrator man Taylor, coming up, the big Taylor, the
- 23:37one that is constructing the whole narrative.
- 23:40And there's three of them, right?
- 23:41This is the first time we see this very clear imagery that
- 23:43there's three of them. But the foreshadowing continues
- 23:45because we see Taylor Swift watching her funeral and
- 23:49watching all these people fighting the death of the poet
- 23:53and everyone fighting about her foreshadow that there's going to
- 23:55be the splintering in this fandom because people who got so
- 24:00used to hearing Taylor Swift be, you know, honest, this poet, all
- 24:03of a sudden that girl was gone and now they're splintering in
- 24:05the fandom. And she knew that was going to
- 24:07happen because she was foreshadowing the death of the
- 24:09poet. In Pink Clouding, we hear her
- 24:12talk about this arrow that hit her in the heart.
- 24:15And I know people say, oh, and into hero, it's pierced my
- 24:18heart, but never killed. I think the poet just didn't
- 24:21know that she was actually going to die from this.
- 24:23And I think at the end of the Midnight's era, she is killed.
- 24:26And I think in TTPD we are seeing the poet come to terms
- 24:31with her own death, perhaps in the afterlife, or perhaps as
- 24:35she's dying or sent away. Maybe she hasn't been killed
- 24:39off. I think so.
- 24:41But maybe she's been sent away to a psych ward, right, to a
- 24:44hospital. That's why the entire aesthetic
- 24:45of TTPD is super deathly and sad.
- 24:49Right after, you know, in the Midnight's era, we see that the
- 24:51showgirl's going to come back and someone's in the coffin.
- 24:53Like, it actually makes so much more sense now.
- 24:55So we are told we're going to live in this fairy tale world
- 24:57with the showgirl's back. And you know, the poet is sent
- 25:01off to the closet for now. So TTPD is the poet's dying
- 25:04words. How did it end?
- 25:06Is the poet asking about how she's dying?
- 25:09Right. She's sent to the hospital, the
- 25:11psych ward, the grave and who is brought back to life.
- 25:15It's really interesting after this extremely depressing album
- 25:18of TTPD, this death in a sense. And I know everyone attaches
- 25:22this to a relationship. It doesn't mean that these can't
- 25:24also be tracked with muses and relationships because I don't
- 25:27think that she's had no relationships.
- 25:29Like obviously there's weaving in of narratives and Taylor
- 25:32Swift said this, she goes, I weave in and out of narrative.
- 25:35So I think she's very aware of how this like leads her legacy.
- 25:38She said this also in an interview that she's very aware
- 25:41actually, that this, like, is a part of her larger legacy.
- 25:44But she's also writing, you know, sometimes about her life.
- 25:47She's going in and out of character.
- 25:49In the first song on the life of a showgirl, the showgirl is
- 25:53back. The poet has died.
- 25:55And in the Fate of Ophelia, Taylor sings, You dug me out of
- 25:58my grave and saved me from the fate of Ophelia.
- 26:01And I know everyone's like, oh, my God, she's thinking Travis.
- 26:04She's thinking a man. No, I think she's thinking a
- 26:06man. I just think she's thinking the
- 26:08man, the Taylor Swift, the narrator for saving her,
- 26:11bringing her back to life. Unfortunately, the poet has
- 26:14died, but the show goes back. She is thanking the man for
- 26:17digging her out of her grave and allowing her to use her showgirl
- 26:21powers that only the showgirl will be able to do.
- 26:23Because the showgirl knows how to perform.
- 26:25The showgirl knows how to be likable in order to be so
- 26:29successful. During the Eras Tour, perform
- 26:32all of these eras, all of the eras that the showgirl lived
- 26:35right, but has a lot of trauma with because she had her music
- 26:39stolen from her and use her powers to buy back her masters
- 26:44with the money she made at the heiress to her.
- 26:46The man saved her, allowed her to use her showgirl powers to
- 26:49perform at the heiress to her, earn enough money to buy back
- 26:52the masters taken from the career of the showgirl and make
- 26:55it to the top so that the man can tell her story, so that she
- 26:59can rest without torment or exist peacefully alongside the
- 27:03poet. No, I'm not sure what's going to
- 27:05happen. I don't know if they're going to
- 27:07kill off the showgirl or just, you know, banish her because the
- 27:11showgirl. Also, it's not like she's this
- 27:13one-dimensional evil character. She became this way for a
- 27:18reason. But the poet and the showgirl
- 27:20hate each other, right? They see each other as polar
- 27:24opposites. The man sees them as both
- 27:27necessary and their fates are completely reliant on the
- 27:30narrator slash the man. They are each other's foil, each
- 27:34other's enemy, and they are jealous of the other person.
- 27:37It sounds like the other woman, right?
- 27:39All going back to like Jane Eyre, Rebecca, etcetera that
- 27:42I'll get into. Each person has what the other
- 27:45cannot have. And in the encore, the showgirl
- 27:48does her final performance. And I think after this final
- 27:52performance of the showgirl, something's about to switch.
- 27:55The narrator is about to switch because right now the showgirl
- 27:59is in front of the mic. She's in charge, right?
- 28:01In each song slash music video, she tells the tale of her life
- 28:05as a showgirl. That's why these songs are very
- 28:07different. Like Ruin the Friendship sounds
- 28:09like debut or Fearless, right? Because she was a showgirl back
- 28:12then and then cancelled is her experience like when she got
- 28:15cancelled as a showgirl. So that's why this album sounds
- 28:18kind of like all over the place. But her fate is up to the man.
- 28:21The man is foreshadowing in this story of Patient Zero, the music
- 28:25video that this shifting and narration will occur and that
- 28:29the showgirl once done with her mission, which the encore, it's
- 28:33like that's the end of the show. Guys will be killed off by the
- 28:36man once and for all. And this is my theory.
- 28:39Maybe you think that the showgirl and the poet can exist
- 28:41at the same time. I think Taylor Swift is this is
- 28:45her last hurrah with the showgirl.
- 28:46At least that's my theory. And then especially with the
- 28:49readings of the literature that's involved in this, I think
- 28:53that she's going to be killed off once and for all by taking
- 28:55herself and the lover house down with her.
- 28:59The only way for her to rest is to close the book and burn it
- 29:03all down. But the poet wants revenge.
- 29:07It sounds like reputation again, Taylor's version.
- 29:12And she said the vault tracks of Reputation would be fire,
- 29:15burning it all down. Let's talk about the evidence
- 29:17behind this, OK? Especially coming from the
- 29:20newest era in the patient's era. Music video serving a lot of the
- 29:24inspiration behind this theory. For me, the three books that
- 29:27specifically came to my mind are Jane Eyre, Rebecca, and Verdi.
- 29:31All three of them are very similar in this idea that there
- 29:35is this woman either dead, hidden away by this man, and
- 29:40then there is this new wife type character.
- 29:44And there are these three main characters.
- 29:46All three of them also have queer readings.
- 29:50And this is not just my reading. This is modern queer readings
- 29:54and queer analysis. And all three of them read like
- 29:57a gothic horror novel. That's very interesting.
- 30:02Doesn't that sound like Taylor Swift?
- 30:04If you haven't seen the music video, Taylor Swift's Patience
- 30:07era video is a basically a gothic ghost story.
- 30:10OK, Dakota Johnson is married to Colin Farrell.
- 30:13You're seeing Taylor Swift in these scenes with Dakota Johnson
- 30:17arguing with Colin Farrell and Taylor Swift.
- 30:20The ghost is spilling her drink. There's this scene where Taylor
- 30:23Swift is in front of this long table and it reminds us of the
- 30:27tolerated performance. Almost a callback to the poet,
- 30:30right? We see Dakota fight with Colin
- 30:33Farrell as he is cheating on her with Cara Delevingne, which I do
- 30:37find it's really interesting. Taylor Swift in her description
- 30:40of the music video is like Cara Delevingne.
- 30:43Thank you for agreeing to play the lusty other woman.
- 30:46That's what friends are for, Question Mark.
- 30:49That's fucking gay as hell. And I think it's very
- 30:51interesting and telling. Like maybe Cara Delevingne
- 30:53actually was the other woman, but we don't need to go into all
- 30:55that. The twist is that we find out
- 30:58that Taylor was the wife of Colin Farrell and was going
- 31:01through the same thing that Dakota was going through.
- 31:04And at the end, there's this twist where you find out that he
- 31:08had actually poisoned Taylor Swift.
- 31:10So the ghost of Taylor Swift was trying to prevent Dakota from
- 31:13being poisoned as well. Taylor Swift actually had the
- 31:17inheritance that the man stole. Interesting.
- 31:21But at the end, the ghost saves Dakota.
- 31:25Now, this is very, very interesting with this idea of
- 31:29these three tailors, Colin Farrell being the man.
- 31:32And I do think it's up to your own analysis on whether or not
- 31:37you think that Dakota is the poet or the showgirl or Taylor
- 31:40is the poet or the showgirl. It almost doesn't even really
- 31:43matter because there's this idea that like one of them was dead,
- 31:47but it's coming back to life in ghost form to protect her.
- 31:52It's almost like the man, you know, in their perspectives, the
- 31:55man is this evil person killing them off, but the man is the one
- 31:59that is trying to control the money.
- 32:01I think the narration is going to switch specifically based on
- 32:05the fact that this is so similar to these these other books.
- 32:09So let's get into it. At the grave scene, Dakota is
- 32:12taking a rose after she visits Taylor Swift's grave site and
- 32:16taking it to perhaps the man's grave site.
- 32:19Is this foreshadowing that actually the man is going to be
- 32:23killed off and that the showgirl and the poet decide to work
- 32:26together? There's a lot of things that
- 32:28this could be going into. I personally do not think that
- 32:31this is about an ex. I just don't may.
- 32:34I do think some of these songs are like inspired by other
- 32:38situations, like these things have double meanings and she
- 32:40loves a double meaning. It is probably inspired by like
- 32:43Sophie Turner, you know, asking Taylor Swift for help with the
- 32:46Joe Jonas situation and her wanting to write a Patient Zero
- 32:50song. But I also think it very much
- 32:52works for this idea of like a love triangle, that one of them
- 32:57was infected by the man and the other one is also experiencing
- 33:00the same thing. But I also do think that we
- 33:03should not trust the perception of this story.
- 33:07In the patients ear music video, we also see Taylor Swift.
- 33:10The ghost on the front of the car looks like she's like almost
- 33:13exploding and in light and she has an X over her head.
- 33:17I don't know if that's like reputation or getaway car or
- 33:20what. But also there was a getaway car
- 33:22Easter egg on the board for the Law and Order sketch.
- 33:26Let's talk about Jane Eyre if you haven't already read it.
- 33:28Spoiler alert, and This is why I think that this is not the full
- 33:33story of Patient 0. Jane Eyre is an orphan.
- 33:36She's mistreated by her aunt. She's sent to a harsh boarding
- 33:39school. Boom.
- 33:40Later, as an adult, she becomes the governess at Thornfield
- 33:44Hall. She falls in love with its
- 33:46owner, Mr. Rochester. Everything is good until she
- 33:50finds out that Rochester is already married.
- 33:53OK. His wife Bertha is secretly kept
- 33:56in the house, trapped because she is mentally ill.
- 34:01This sounds like the poet and the showgirl in my mind.
- 34:04Jane leaves him rather than become his mistress.
- 34:07Later, Jane inherits money, becomes financially independent.
- 34:12It's almost like this is where Patient 0 ends.
- 34:15But then she returns to Rochester, whose house has
- 34:19burned down because of Bertha, and we find out, wow, Bertha's
- 34:23psycho. She actually is psycho.
- 34:25This entire time, we thought, you know, Rochester's this
- 34:28horrible person, but actually, Bertha was actually really
- 34:30fucking crazy. And there's a lot of layers into
- 34:32this because, like, she was crazy for multiple reasons.
- 34:34And also, how much did Mr. Rochester have to do with it?
- 34:38Rochester was injured and blinded while trying to save
- 34:41people. And you're like, Oh my God, the
- 34:43man's good. Jane and Rochester reunite, and
- 34:45Mary, it sounds like the poet is actually fucking crazy kept in
- 34:51this house. And you think she's the good
- 34:53person, but she's not. And you think the man is the bad
- 34:56guy, but he's not. It begs the question, what is
- 34:59the actual story of Patient Zero?
- 35:01Are we seeing the full story? Who's narrating this?
- 35:04Bertha is also very much seen as the dark doppelganger of Jane
- 35:09Eyre. Bertha is almost like, I think
- 35:13the poet version of the showgirl.
- 35:14This person that's been forced to be this way, she's other.
- 35:18She is driven mad by maybe this, by this patriarchal world and
- 35:24kept upstairs in the attic of her house until she loses her
- 35:28mind and burns it down. Sounds also like the poet
- 35:32wanting to get revenge on all of this and burning it all down.
- 35:36Let me tell you about the plot of Verity.
- 35:38Crawford is a famous novelist who becomes unable to write
- 35:42after a serious accent. Her husband Jeremy, hires a
- 35:45writer, Lone Ashley, who was actually Dakota Johnson in the
- 35:49upcoming movie The Finish Verdi's series.
- 35:52So Dakota Johnson's character finds Verdi's unpublished
- 35:55autobiography. It contains disturbing
- 35:58confessions, including claims that very deliberately killed
- 36:01her own children and that she's obsessed with Jeremy.
- 36:04They become romantically involved.
- 36:05Dakota is like, yeah, fuck that girl.
- 36:08Eventually, they confront Verdi. Jeremy kills her, believing the
- 36:12manuscript. Oh, isn't that interesting?
- 36:14The manuscript proves she murdered their children.
- 36:17But then there's a twist. After Verity dies, Dakota
- 36:21Johnson's character Lowen discovers a letter from Verity
- 36:25saying that the autobiography was fiction.
- 36:30OK narrator, untrustworthy narrator, written as an exercise
- 36:35to get inside the mind of a villain.
- 36:38Verity claims she never killed the children and had been
- 36:40pretending to be incapacitated because Jeremy was suspicious of
- 36:44her. So the ending we question was
- 36:47Verity really innocent? And was Verity then lying in the
- 36:50letter about lying in the original letter?
- 36:53This is the point. We don't know who is the actual
- 36:56bad person. And This is why I think the idea
- 36:59of Patient 0 is so funny because everyone's taking it like this
- 37:02is so obvious. These two girls are good.
- 37:03The man is bad. We don't actually know who's
- 37:07evil here. Now, finally, Rebecca, OK, I'm
- 37:11going to play a recording of Taylor Swift talking to Stephen
- 37:14Colbert on the Late Night with Stephen Colbert.
- 37:16By the way, guys, do we see the vision with the scarf?
- 37:20The scarf that I'm wearing is like supposed to be giving like,
- 37:23pink clouding where she's like orange, magenta and like a
- 37:27fashion scarf, not like because it's cold.
- 37:29Whatever. She's talking to Stephen Colbert
- 37:31and she's talking about like books that she likes to listen
- 37:34to in an audiobook. And I think describing what
- 37:37she's about to do in her own character life, in her own
- 37:41story, in her own book, in her own narrative about these three
- 37:44tailors. You know, you know, all the
- 37:46elements like Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca, that book.
- 37:49Yeah. Right.
- 37:50So if it's like, if you've got like an old, like, like
- 37:53rambling, shambles, old British mansion covered in Moss or Ivy
- 38:00and there's like a mysterious relationship and he may not be
- 38:03what he seems. And there's like a murderer that
- 38:06that has happened in the past. But you but you hear whispers of
- 38:09it. There's like I the idea of a
- 38:12ghost or an actual ghost. If you.
- 38:15If you present me with a plot line where there's like a family
- 38:17compound on an on an island off the coast of Maine, there's
- 38:21secrets in this family, right? This brother, Like, what's
- 38:25what's going on with him? Why don't we know where he's
- 38:27been for 10 years? Why did he just show up?
- 38:29Do you know what I mean? If there's a marriage and the
- 38:33marriage isn't what it seems and it seems like this dude is like,
- 38:37clearly like, why are you with him?
- 38:39He's horrible to you. Oh, plot twist, unreliable
- 38:42narrator. She's a psycho.
- 38:45That's the plot of Rebecca literally acknowledged that it
- 38:47was the plot of Rebecca. But I also think it's because
- 38:50that's what she's writing in her own life, that she's the
- 38:53unreliable narrator. Someone is the unreliable
- 38:55narrator. It's perhaps the showgirl and
- 38:58whatever we're seeing in the music video of Patient Zero,
- 39:02it's not all what it seems. One of these bitches is fucking
- 39:06crazy. And I think it's the showgirl.
- 39:09The plot of Rebecca is that a young woman marries A wealthy
- 39:14widower, Maxim, and moves into his estate, Manderly.
- 39:19She's obsessed with Rebecca. Queer queer coated his like
- 39:23beautiful ex dead wife. OK, it's also seeming like the
- 39:28dead poet right? Of like the showgirl being like
- 39:32almost obsessed with the poet but like jealous right?
- 39:36Or vice versa. Eventually the narrator AKA the
- 39:40woman discovers that Maxim hated Rebecca and that he killed her
- 39:45after learning that she was having affairs and manipulating
- 39:48him and that this is the twist because you're like oh wait
- 39:51what? He actually killed Rebecca.
- 39:54But here's what's interesting. The housekeeper misses Danvers
- 39:58probably burned down Manderly the compound because of her
- 40:03obsession and devotion to Rebecca.
- 40:07This is like a queer part of the story.
- 40:10That's very interesting to burning the house down, right?
- 40:13But guess what? Who flees?
- 40:15The showgirl, AKA the new wife? Or is this new wife actually the
- 40:21poet? You know, are we telling the
- 40:23story of what's going to happen or?
- 40:25For patient zero, is she telling a story that already did happen?
- 40:28Because what interestingly happens is that the narrator,
- 40:31AKA this new wife, the narrator, finds out that Maxim actually
- 40:35hated Rebecca and that he killed her because he hated her.
- 40:39She is actually happy about this.
- 40:43She is happier that he murdered her rather than loved her.
- 40:47Because when you start to find out that the narrator that is
- 40:51telling you this story is not telling it in an accurate way,
- 40:55we're only experiencing the story through her perspective,
- 40:59and she constantly misinterprets what is happening because she's
- 41:03insecure. And that kind of sounds like the
- 41:06showgirl to me, right? I think the showgirl is leading
- 41:09us to not actually view the situation clearly in a way that
- 41:14we're viewing the Patient Zero through.
- 41:15Maybe the showgirl's view is the Patient Zero music video, the
- 41:19actual story of these three tailors and the man, or really,
- 41:23or are we going to get a whole new music video that's going to
- 41:26shift this perspective and show us the actual truth?
- 41:30The narrator is unreliable. The narrator is unreliable.
- 41:34And Rebecca and in Jane Eyre, there's a huge twist.
- 41:37And in Verity, there's a huge twist.
- 41:39We have no idea what to believe. And I think the point that we're
- 41:42getting from this, from this music video is it's not so cut
- 41:45and dry. Oh, these two girls are great
- 41:46and helping each other, and the man is evil.
- 41:48These characters represent a love triangle.
- 41:50They represent showgirl, the man, the poet.
- 41:54We can all argue on which one is which.
- 41:56I do feel like the man is the man.
- 41:58Perspective that we're seeing is not the whole truth.
- 42:01And we are going to get the whole truth.
- 42:03And I don't know if it's going to be a flip version of this
- 42:06music video or we're just going to see it play out in her life.
- 42:09And it also begs the question, what is going to happen?
- 42:12What is this foreshadowing? What is the flip truth?
- 42:15Are we going to show that the showgirl was already evil?
- 42:18That this house is going to burn down just like in Rebecca?
- 42:22That the house is going to burn down like the lover house, you
- 42:24know, is TTP? Is Poet Taylor going to find out
- 42:27what the showgirl did to her? And is she going to come and get
- 42:30revenge via reputation and then burn this lover house down with
- 42:36this fucked up romantic love triangle where everyone has
- 42:40different perspectives and we don't even know who the true
- 42:42narrator is? I don't know.
- 42:44There is an unreliable narrator. Taylor Swift is an unreliable
- 42:48narrator. A huge twist is coming and this
- 42:51is the end of the showgirls reign.
- 42:53Abso fucking lutely. We're going to go into song and
- 42:56lyrical analysis and talk about how this all fits into the
- 42:59theory, but I would love to hear your thoughts and what you
- 43:02think. Taylor Swift is absolutely
- 43:04emulating this book and adding her new variant to this string
- 43:10of extremely famous novels. Also in Verity, I know I already
- 43:14said this, but like, it's starring Dakota Johnson, Anne
- 43:16Hathaway, and mind you, they share a lesbian kiss in the
- 43:19movie. And mind you again, Anne
- 43:21Hathaway also starred in Mother Mary about a queer superstar,
- 43:25which is objectively inspired by Taylor Swift.
- 43:28So Taylor Swift is returning the favor to these two.
- 43:33I also want to add that the ring is a main fucking character in
- 43:36the music video for Patient Zero.
- 43:39The switching of the ring on Dakota and Taylor's hand I think
- 43:44is showing that this is the same girl.
- 43:45I feel like that really shows to me like, oh, this is the same
- 43:49girl. The poet and the showgirl.
- 43:50It's like the same person underneath and they're like
- 43:54living mirrored lives. Which one is the good one?
- 43:58Which one is the real 1? Which one is the victim?
- 44:01Are they both victims? Are they both evil?
- 44:04The ring is also a main character in this.
- 44:05You can also see, you know, at the at the grave.
- 44:08It's gleaming on her hand. We also see in the law and order
- 44:12sketch, she puts her hand right here and she goes it's hidden in
- 44:15plain sight and her ring is right there.
- 44:18She also pointed to her ring at the football game like a week
- 44:21before all this happened. So like that's fucking T like PR
- 44:25relationship or more. So just talking about the idea
- 44:27of her being betrothed and wedded in all of this is really
- 44:33interesting. Is she married to the bit she
- 44:36married to the story? Is Travis the annoying one in
- 44:38the relationship or she fucking evil to Travis?
- 44:41Does this reflect her real life? Or is this all just about the
- 44:44characters of Taylor Swift? I mean, of course, a lot of this
- 44:47in my mind goes back to Gaylord because like she is the showgirl
- 44:52is not telling us her true self because like, we wouldn't like
- 44:56her the the world would not like her and buy her tickets to get
- 44:59her to buy back her master's. Like that's just a fact.
- 45:02She needs to cover up the poet's tracks as a showgirl.
- 45:05So Patient Zero was also the first single release since me.
- 45:08And, and I also think that that's relevant because Me is a
- 45:12part of the Lover era right around the time that the poet
- 45:16had finally stepped into the light away from the showgirl and
- 45:19Me was released on Lesbian Visibility Day.
- 45:22And then when the encore was released, after the Patient zero
- 45:26single was released, which shows like we didn't really need a
- 45:28patient zero single release. We could have just had the
- 45:31encore release, but she wanted to announce it on Bisexuality
- 45:34Day, of course, because she's collecting the gay days like
- 45:37Infinity Stones. Also, the photo shoot location
- 45:40and perhaps music video shooting location on some of it, we're
- 45:43not sure. Is Casa Wabi and Taylor Swift
- 45:46pretends like she went back into the studio and decided to make
- 45:50more music after the Life of a Showgirl was released?
- 45:52I mean, she lies to us because she also told us in the New
- 45:55Heights podcast that she was not going to add any more songs.
- 45:59But then, you know, she did. And we know that she knew this
- 46:04beforehand because she had a book, Casa Wabi book, in the
- 46:08background of the podcast before the life of Showgirl was even
- 46:11released to the world. So she'd already planned on
- 46:14having Casa Wabi be the background for the music video
- 46:17or it was the inspiration for this in some way.
- 46:20It also proves that she lied to us and can show us lies.
- 46:23And she's showing us that she's an unreliable narrator.
- 46:26She's told us this so many times.
- 46:27And of course, there's a Karlie Kloss connection to this,
- 46:29because there always is. That Curly Klaus was actually
- 46:33actually photographed herself at a Casa Wabi location Carly went
- 46:37to and posted an Instagram picture there, of course.
- 46:40And we go into the lyrics of Patient Zero.
- 46:43I know people are talking about, you know, the Sophie Turner
- 46:45Jonas of it all. And of course, I think there's
- 46:47double meanings, but also like, not only does the music video
- 46:51lend itself to this idea of the three Taylors and Rebecca and
- 46:53everything like this, but the song actually makes sense.
- 46:56Like if you want to party with somebody whom I know about the
- 46:59devil on his shoulder under his Halo.
- 47:01I feel like it's like the the showgirl and the poet talking
- 47:05shit about the man now. He seems bored by you and you
- 47:08don't know what to do. I feel like it's like, OK,
- 47:10switching Era's time and they're done with it.
- 47:13I know it seems like he shines so bright, but he's bathing in
- 47:16your reflected light. Thoughts about the diamond?
- 47:19I think the showgirls, like, look, I've been here before.
- 47:22I've been here first before you, the poet.
- 47:24And I know what it's like for the man to take it all away.
- 47:27Like if we just view it in that way where it's Taylor Swift
- 47:31talking to herself, another version of herself.
- 47:33So if you want to kick it, then I've been with it.
- 47:35I've been there, felt the reeling, done the healing, like
- 47:39been through all the turmoils of being a showgirl, did the
- 47:42healing, winning it back, winning back.
- 47:44The masters said the curses and the prayers like death and life.
- 47:50When the fever turns a dreamer into a pathetic ghost.
- 47:54If he's killing you, I see you. I was patient zero.
- 47:59She's like, I've been here before.
- 48:01I know you're so sad you were killed off, but I was killed off
- 48:04too. And then we get into Cleveland,
- 48:06which is the showgirl in the showgirl era that we don't even
- 48:10need to get really into the showgirl being so focused on
- 48:13being like liked, right? She's like, oh, at least he
- 48:15likes me. It doesn't matter because he
- 48:17likes me. Like, this is not the poet.
- 48:19The poet is talking about her feelings towards someone.
- 48:23The showgirl is being like, who likes me and who doesn't like
- 48:26me? We're not feeling like we're
- 48:28getting a sense of the real tailor because she's dead.
- 48:31And I also think it's interesting that Cleveland has
- 48:35an exclamation point just like, cancelled.
- 48:37It's like, who are you about to cancel?
- 48:39So we're not even going to go into those lyrics, but like this
- 48:42is supposed to be the froofy love song that's showing us like
- 48:44there's not much here. And honestly, like if Taylor
- 48:46Swift and Travis Kelce are really together in a loving,
- 48:48happy relationship, I genuinely feel bad for Travis because he
- 48:51has not had an actual love song. All of these love songs are like
- 48:54not this like heartfelt song because like he's only really
- 48:58been in her life during this showgirl era.
- 49:00OK, then we get into pink clouding, which I think is so
- 49:03interesting. Let's get into it.
- 49:05So I think the pink clouding is back to the story again of these
- 49:10three tailors, right? She's telling us in her final
- 49:13show through her perspective, what happened, right through the
- 49:17showgirl's perspective. I also do think it's like the
- 49:20showgirl's version of maroon. She like, can't quite do what
- 49:25the poet does or even the man does when she sings about her
- 49:31own feelings because at the end of the day it's a little bit
- 49:34more fruitier than when the poet has the point of view, right?
- 49:39It's like this pink, froofy, cloudy, puffy version of what
- 49:43lavender haze or maroon is, which is so showgirl.
- 49:47It's also the lesbian flag. OK, let's be real.
- 49:49Met the magenta sunrise, magenta fuchsia, forever intertwined.
- 49:54Like we're already halfway through the lesbian flag and
- 49:56it's been 2 lines. Threw the rosewood on the fire.
- 50:00Neither of us knew at the time that I was a liar.
- 50:02OK great. So she's already admitting to us
- 50:05that she's lying. The showgirl is lying to us.
- 50:07And it was so good letting you want me so good to make
- 50:10promises. Promises.
- 50:12And then it says PRPR promises so fucking crazy, you guys, that
- 50:18she literally writes PR. But I was pink, pink Clouding
- 50:22from the thrill of it. And as we know from a lot of
- 50:24people talking about the song Pink Clouding is this idea that,
- 50:26like, you know, you're free from this addiction and you're a
- 50:30little bit too optimistic right before something bad happens.
- 50:33Now, this could be her talking about what happened when this
- 50:38shift happened and the poet was killed.
- 50:41She's kind of like, listen, I'm sorry you died.
- 50:44She literally goes years later, I still wonder how to tell you
- 50:47sorry now again, double meaning this could be lover era.
- 50:50You know, this could be post reputation.
- 50:52I think it's like Midnight's going into TTPD and then into
- 50:58Showgirl era, right? I also think there's another of
- 51:02really cool point of view where it's like Taylor Swift telling
- 51:05Gaylors, like, I'm sorry that like, I gave you all of these
- 51:09hints and like, even the showgirl being like, sorry, we
- 51:13kind of fooled you. Like, sorry, like, you know, we
- 51:17gave you this gay era. And then like, I was too
- 51:20optimistic about the idea that this could be sustainable for my
- 51:23career and I had to pull it back and I had to become way more
- 51:27hidden. And I'm sorry I got your hopes
- 51:29up. I think there's a lot here.
- 51:30Or it could be about a ex lover that I think is probably a woman
- 51:34where it's like I got off the addiction of men and I was too
- 51:39optimistic about thinking that this would work.
- 51:42Skydiving as you wrapped your arms around my body.
- 51:45Gray rocking where the arrow hit.
- 51:47Now This is why I think it's about the anti hearing music
- 51:50video because like I do think the showgirl killed off the poet
- 51:53and after the arrow hit, I think it slowly killed the poet and
- 51:59Gray rocking. It's like after Midnight's we
- 52:03get this black and white album and then boom, life of a
- 52:06showgirl. Are we going to get another
- 52:07black and white album? Because they keep on shifting
- 52:10each era. Gray rocking.
- 52:13It's a self protection strategy used to deal with toxic,
- 52:15manipulative or emotionally volatile people by becoming as
- 52:19uninteresting and unengaged as a dull stone.
- 52:22Taking away emotion and just giving this like flat voice.
- 52:26It could be like the music that the showgirl decides to give out
- 52:30because they don't want to give this emotion.
- 52:33You know what I mean? It's easier and it's safe.
- 52:35It's more palatable if you don't lean into it and you don't speak
- 52:39out about things that are problematic and you don't talk
- 52:42about emotions that are too strong and that you're just kind
- 52:45of like not feeding into the drama.
- 52:48And I also just think it's really interesting that this
- 52:50entire era of the encore is like Stone and the Casa Wabi is like
- 52:57Gray rock and then this stone that the man is this like
- 53:01statue. Statues crumble if they're made
- 53:03to wait, like the poet has been waiting in death or somewhere.
- 53:07And then even when she ordered the VMA is like it looks like a
- 53:09statue. Like is the statue part
- 53:12unfolding to reveal black again, right, the poet or reputation.
- 53:17But pretty much this idea of Gray rocking is like giving the
- 53:20fans kind of just like what they want and not any emotional
- 53:23response, right? Being fucking fake.
- 53:26And then and it goes to, you know, to the OPA like music
- 53:28video where there's a Gray rock and no play music video.
- 53:31So like after the Arrowhead, the showgirl says, great, I'm going
- 53:35to Gray rock everyone. Years later, I still wonder how
- 53:37to tell you sorry. Is the showgirl saying sorry to
- 53:41the poet or is Taylor saying sorry to gay fans?
- 53:44He cut me Crimson blood me dry. He crossed my heart.
- 53:47I hope to die. It's.
- 53:49I just feel like she's talking to the man.
- 53:51Right. Ripped all my orchids from the
- 53:53vine. You met me at a cursed time.
- 53:55Whoa. And you were so good.
- 53:57That's why you haunt me like you should.
- 54:00We're still talking about ghosts.
- 54:02Like this is way more than just four different sporadic songs
- 54:05about lovers. This is a larger story to me.
- 54:08Haunting ghosts. Rebecca haunting the narrator.
- 54:13It's like Taylor haunting Dakota's character.
- 54:16It's these two girls that are faced off together because the
- 54:19man is controlling their fates. I hope you realized my kind of
- 54:23trouble wasn't worth it. And the way I treated you, you
- 54:25never deserved it. I didn't want to let you down,
- 54:27so I left you on a pink cloud. And I also feel like it's like
- 54:30lavender haze, like leaving the midnight's era, leaving the poet
- 54:34up there trapped forever, and like feeling bad for the
- 54:38showgirl taking over and Gray rocking everyone you know.
- 54:41Or it could be like Carly, I'm sorry, or Diana.
- 54:44But this Tom Hiddleston BS. It's like people are trying to
- 54:47find any man to talk about with this era.
- 54:50And like, even after specifically Taylor Swift said
- 54:53stop fraternity testing my songs, like when it is not even
- 54:56clear that it is Joe or Travis. Now we're going all the way back
- 55:00and we're like, what other man makes sense?
- 55:02Like they're like, oh, it's not even Maddie.
- 55:03What other man? What other man?
- 55:05They're just digging up any man. I'm like, perhaps she's talking
- 55:08to her fans like even if it's not even Gaylord related.
- 55:11So yeah, pink clouding is fascinating.
- 55:13It continues on this story. And finally we get Babylon,
- 55:17which I feel like is a climax that really just shows us what's
- 55:22going to happen and what's happening in the encore.
- 55:25Babylon is good. I think these songs are really
- 55:26good. They're not my favorite.
- 55:28I mean, I don't like Cleveland. They're a lot better now that
- 55:30I've listened to them. And like next time I need to
- 55:33remember that when I'm first listening because like, it
- 55:35always grows in me. I just like the production
- 55:37really let me down. But again, this is Showgirls
- 55:40POV. Now, of course, Babylon is
- 55:41inherently queer because it goes back to cowboy like me and also
- 55:46us with Gracie Abrams. Now the idea of this song is
- 55:50almost like Taylor is talking to just like someone out in the
- 55:54crowd and their youth. Again, all these have double
- 55:56meanings so that like the people that don't want to dig into it
- 55:59don't have to and they have like an easy thing to grab onto.
- 56:03But you know, we are not those people.
- 56:04The casino doesn't like when you run the tables and then the box
- 56:07is wrapped up nice. It's just a cage to you.
- 56:09Those electric fences Buzz, the stallion flees the stable and
- 56:12that small towns even smaller now.
- 56:14On your rearview, you ran with all the wild things, a liberated
- 56:18libertine who then longed for home.
- 56:20This is the showgirl talking about how trapped she was,
- 56:23right? And how this girl is now running
- 56:25free. Maybe it's the poet again, like
- 56:28I just like, this is her talking to herself because it's where
- 56:31you're from. Aunt Virginia with her church
- 56:33dress on, no elbows on the table in the neighbor's lawn.
- 56:36She's like, this is your youth. Or maybe she's even saying like,
- 56:40think about where you came from. It's like a love story for these
- 56:44different versions of herself. But then I do think that there's
- 56:47something to be said about this being a song to the fans.
- 56:49I don't know. I think the Cage is very her
- 56:51focused, obvi. But then saying to the fans, you
- 56:54hate this song. You wake up on the train with
- 56:57your headphones gone. The melody is all you want now
- 57:00you want the thing that you don't have any more and you
- 57:02never knew it was good because it's gone.
- 57:05Because the real Taylor is dead. Give the people what they want,
- 57:09then you keep it moving. This is literally talking to
- 57:13herself, literally being like, give the people what they want.
- 57:16We've said this so many times that Taylor Swift is giving the
- 57:19people what they want, and then she wrote it in her fucking
- 57:21lyrics. But I think this is interesting.
- 57:23People think that she's talking to like, a young boy.
- 57:25And like, what if she's talking about herself because she loved
- 57:28you? So pretty as a picture that you
- 57:29didn't post. Oh, so this is something secret.
- 57:32Looking at you like you're made of solid gold.
- 57:34OK, so Karlie Kloss, Gold Rush. I feel like it's a showgirl
- 57:38talking to herself, but then it's also the showgirl talking
- 57:41to Carly. You're using nostalgia as a
- 57:44weapon to hurt yourself. Hello.
- 57:47But darling, you end up hurting everybody else.
- 57:50She's so focused on these past eras of herself, but she's
- 57:54hurting everyone else because she's like trying to be like
- 57:57she's trying to like go back to this nostalgia, the self harm of
- 58:02never being where you are. And now I'm thinking maybe this
- 58:05is the poet talking back to the showgirl because maybe the poet
- 58:09is waking up anyway. She says you didn't know his
- 58:11Babble until it was gone. And I, I do think this is Taylor
- 58:15talking to herself, but I also think a huge way that I take it
- 58:18is Taylor talking to her fans. And was like, you didn't know
- 58:21what you had until I became the showgirl and it was gone.
- 58:24You took me for granted. So there's that.
- 58:26T there guys, I have to take off my fucking scarf.
- 58:29I feel so claustrophobic. So to wrap, I have a few more
- 58:32things to cover and then we can be done.
- 58:34This is a longest episode. There's a lot of other things
- 58:36that I didn't even fucking mention.
- 58:38And so if you want more, you know, let me know if there's
- 58:41something you want me to expand on or talk about on my TikTok or
- 58:43a bonus episode, whatever. But karma, right?
- 58:47Like is reputation coming? Or is it actually karma that
- 58:50exposes the the lies and the truths?
- 58:53Maybe this era is going to expose who the good narrator is
- 58:57or is there even a good narrator, right?
- 59:00And I know people are talking about the three colors for the
- 59:02patient's ear release and like this blue and this orange,
- 59:05right? This like bluish green and this
- 59:07orange. Well, first of all, those are
- 59:08opposite colors in the color we all think about karma, right?
- 59:11Because Karma could also just be seen as like retribution.
- 59:14The Karma music video is really interesting.
- 59:17The colors of the ropes that I Spice and Taylor have are like
- 59:21this blue and orange. And people have been talking
- 59:23about, oh, look, that looks similar to the Fortnite music
- 59:26video where the two typewriters are like blue and orange.
- 59:31Those are opposite colors on the color wheel.
- 59:33And I think one of those colors is the poet and the other one is
- 59:37the showgirl, like having this opposite mirrored type
- 59:41connection. Plus on the man wall there's
- 59:44blue and black. Who are we going to meet at
- 59:47midnight? Is it the real tailor?
- 59:49Is it both of the tailors coming together?
- 59:51Are they going to kill the man? Do you agree that there's some
- 59:54sort of karma reputation happening at the end of this?
- 59:57Who do you think is the real narrator?
- 59:59But I am certain is that there is one final twist and switch up
- 1:00:04with the narration and someone is coming back from her grave.
- 1:00:09And it is the poet. And is Taylor Swift Gray rocking
- 1:00:11us because she's a stone top. Just kidding.
- 1:00:14That was a lesbian joke. If you don't get it, it's not
- 1:00:15for you. I wrote it in and then I
- 1:00:17couldn't take it out of my notes once I had it in.
- 1:00:19Will the showgirl be killed off finally, forever?
- 1:00:22Will we see what's happening behind the curtain?
- 1:00:24Is there even a curtain, or is the curtain really just
- 1:00:27symbolizing life versus death? And don't even get me started on
- 1:00:32the Ivy of it all, the Ivy on the House, the Cassandra
- 1:00:36speaking her truth and then being killed off.
- 1:00:39There's so much here with Taylor Swift in her world building and
- 1:00:43it is so fascinating. It is so amazing.
- 1:00:45I'm endlessly interested. But I absolutely believe that
- 1:00:48Taylor Swift is communicating about the showgirl and to her
- 1:00:53other versions of herself in this encore.
