- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we're discussing The
- 0:20Speaker 1: Greek Isle, which originally aired on Hallmark on Saturday, June sixth,
- 0:25Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, and is now streaming on Hallmark Plus.
- 0:28Speaker 1: You can keep up with us over on Instagram. Things
- 0:31Speaker 1: fell apart for about a week there, but we're getting
- 0:33Speaker 1: back on track. Come on, it's fine. I dropped the ball.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Life was life in around here, both kids' birthdays, last
- 0:41Speaker 1: week of school. It's a lot going on, so I
- 0:44Speaker 1: bet nobody really cares. They do not. But typically over
- 0:48Speaker 1: on Girls Gone Hallmark, you can find out our weekly
- 0:50Speaker 1: schedule and regular updates from us. Wendy shared some fun
- 0:54Speaker 1: Hamemark related news over there. Guys. That's like the first
- 0:58Speaker 1: time I've been over on our end. I was like,
- 1:00Speaker 1: who posted the Girls Gone Homewark Instagram weeks in weeks? Yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 1: life has been happening, So I was like, oh, look
- 1:08Speaker 1: at me sharing all this stuff. All of a sudden,
- 1:10Speaker 1: we are Girls' Gun Hallmark. Hey, I have not, It's
- 1:16Speaker 1: not breaking headline news. But I have some news I
- 1:19Speaker 1: learned over the weekend regarding one of the July Christmas movies.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yes can we can we talk about it for a second? Sure,
- 1:29Speaker 1: jump into the Greek aisle. Okay, So, the movie premiering
- 1:36Speaker 1: on Saturday, July fourth is called Christmas Under Construction and
- 1:40Speaker 1: it stars Daniel Lissing and Jessica Lounds. However, dot dot
- 1:47Speaker 1: dot this movie previously premiered on Hulu in twenty twenty
- 1:52Speaker 1: four under a different name called Renovation Romance. Indeed, and
- 1:57Speaker 1: it's still currently available on Hulu on that name. Oh interesting.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I had an off Mike discussion with Megan about this,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and she said she read a reddit. I just googled
- 2:09Speaker 1: Renovation Romance and the first thing that came up was
- 2:12Speaker 1: a negative Reddit review. Yikes. I mean, am I surprised
- 2:19Speaker 1: at Homewark acquired this movie? Not really? Am I surprised
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's a Daniel list See movie. Kind of? Yeah, it
- 2:27Speaker 1: will be interesting. We will be doing our jually first impressions. I'm,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know, trying to remain neutral and hope that maybe
- 2:34Speaker 1: it surprises me. But the reviews I'm seeing so far
- 2:37Speaker 1: not great. But I think a Homemark last year, did
- 2:41Speaker 1: know Christmas movies? It was just Christmas at Sea and
- 2:44Speaker 1: there were no new movies and so really is that accurate?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I can't remember. Yeah, there were no new Christmas movies
- 2:51Speaker 1: last year. So I think they felt like you know,
- 2:55Speaker 1: last year homework. If you look the number of weekends
- 2:57Speaker 1: without a new movie, it was news plus the number
- 3:02Speaker 1: of Hallmark plus reairrs we got last year. So I
- 3:04Speaker 1: think they've been trying to move away from that, and
- 3:06Speaker 1: so you know, I guess they gotta fill the space
- 3:09Speaker 1: with an acquisition now and then yay, let's talk about
- 3:16Speaker 1: the Greek Isle. Let's do it. Hit me with a synopsis.
- 3:19Speaker 1: When Georgia travels to the Greek island of Corfu to
- 3:23Speaker 1: finalize an inheritance she unexpected to lead, discovers that marrying
- 3:28Speaker 1: her handsome co inheritor is the only way to meet
- 3:31Speaker 1: the requirements. McLean Nelson directed The Greek Isle. His recent
- 3:36Speaker 1: Hallmark credits include Missing the Boat and A Keller Christmas Vacation.
- 3:41Speaker 1: The teleplay was written by Betsy Sollinger and McLean Nelson.
- 3:45Speaker 1: The story is by Betsy Sollinger, who previously wrote Hallmarks,
- 3:49Speaker 1: a novel Noel in twenty twenty four. Apostolis Totsikas stars
- 3:54Speaker 1: opposite Nikki di Looche as her unexpected co inheritor Alex.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Can you hear me laugh? Do you know why I
- 4:00Speaker 1: did that? Because you knew I would be like, I'm
- 4:03Speaker 1: not saying it. I'm not saying it. Thank you. Nikki
- 4:08Speaker 1: Deloch stars as Georgia. Up next, she will reprise her
- 4:12Speaker 1: role in the True Justice three movie Lost Love. Hey, Wendy,
- 4:17Speaker 1: what is your first impression of the Greek asle uh?
- 4:21Speaker 1: Cor Corfu looked beautiful, but those euros deserved to all billing. Oh,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I got a lot to say about the euros. Euro Yeah, euros, euros. Gee?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Why r s euros? I am saying it correctly, right, Well,
- 4:42Speaker 1: you're saying it like eu r os. I think it's euros,
- 4:46Speaker 1: like girl, Oh, what doesn't matter. My first impresson is
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna need to get married again so I can
- 4:52Speaker 1: wear Georgia's fake wedding dress. Oh my god, her wardrobe
- 4:57Speaker 1: was stunning. It's in my likes me too, me too.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Let's talk what we liked about this movie. I'm gonna
- 5:02Speaker 1: be quite honest, Okay, I was not really looking forward
- 5:06Speaker 1: to this movie. Yes, one because I was like, mm,
- 5:10Speaker 1: typical Hallmark story, very traditional story of I'm inheriting something,
- 5:17Speaker 1: that I'm gonna marry somebody and we're gonna be friend
- 5:19Speaker 1: of me is to lovers and blah blah blah blah blah.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That's what I assumed it was going to be. Right
- 5:24Speaker 1: then I learned, like the day of or day before
- 5:28Speaker 1: that McClain nelson was attached to this project, and I
- 5:31Speaker 1: was like, oh, that changes everything for me. I agree
- 5:35Speaker 1: with you one hundred percent. Because I learned also this
- 5:39Speaker 1: weekend that mclin was attached and because he was promoting
- 5:43Speaker 1: it over on his Instagram, and I was like, oh,
- 5:46Speaker 1: well then I'm all in now. Yeah. I love him
- 5:48Speaker 1: as a director. And then he had a writing credit
- 5:51Speaker 1: as well, and if you one of my faves of
- 5:54Speaker 1: his is haul Out. The Halloween was so damn funny,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and so I was like, Okay, okay, I'm seated, I
- 6:02Speaker 1: will watch it. Well, then I start watching it and
- 6:05Speaker 1: I was like, Niki Deloch is having so much fun
- 6:08Speaker 1: as this character, as Georgia. She was doing something not
- 6:14Speaker 1: every Hallmark lead can do, and she doesn't always do
- 6:20Speaker 1: like she's sometimes is very like plays like a serious
- 6:23Speaker 1: sort of sure role or very straight. You know. She
- 6:28Speaker 1: was great with like very funny dialogue. There was multiple
- 6:32Speaker 1: times I laughed out loud because not but the line
- 6:35Speaker 1: itself was hilarious, but it was the way she delivered it.
- 6:38Speaker 1: There was more and we're talking about Cassandra. Yes, of course,
- 6:41Speaker 1: before she knew Cassandra was a cat. And then she
- 6:44Speaker 1: was like okay, and I just just like I felt
- 6:47Speaker 1: very natural. She felt like a real person, a little sarcastic,
- 6:51Speaker 1: super impulsive, chaotic, like I I loved Nikki in this role. Yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I love that Cassandra scene when Alex is like, oh,
- 6:59Speaker 1: the gotter, She's like no, no, like very very relatable,
- 7:04Speaker 1: when she's like hissing at him like no, it's not
- 7:06Speaker 1: the dime. Yeah, yeah, I thought I thought she was great.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And then in addition, I love that her character Georgia
- 7:13Speaker 1: is George is the problem. Georgia comes up with this
- 7:18Speaker 1: marriage plan, which we don't usually get our Hallmark leading
- 7:24Speaker 1: lady to be the one, like they are the ones
- 7:27Speaker 1: that are usually like reacting to all the things happening
- 7:30Speaker 1: around them. But like she goes in and she's like,
- 7:32Speaker 1: what if we get married completely unhinged? I loved it.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I thought it was great. Well, let me talk about
- 7:40Speaker 1: that marriage plot, because this movie had the opportunity to
- 7:43Speaker 1: be something very different, and it was different from what
- 7:46Speaker 1: I expected because I think they made some great storytelling
- 7:50Speaker 1: choices that allowed me to fully buy in to the story.
- 7:54Speaker 2: One.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I went into this thinking that somehow the inheritance required
- 7:58Speaker 1: them to be married, which doesn't make a lot of sense,
- 8:01Speaker 1: and I should have thought that through. But the reality
- 8:04Speaker 1: was that was her solution to their problem. That's going
- 8:07Speaker 1: to speed things along. We'll get married, all established residency,
- 8:11Speaker 1: all will be well. Great. The other thing they did,
- 8:15Speaker 1: which is really smart, is these two knew each other. Now, yes,
- 8:19Speaker 1: they had a loose connection from many, many many years ago,
- 8:23Speaker 1: but they did have a foundation that they were building on.
- 8:25Speaker 1: They had a youthful flirtation, and they both cared very
- 8:29Speaker 1: much about her aunt, and so I think those things.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You could have told the story without including those elements,
- 8:36Speaker 1: but it wouldn't have been as good. I agree. I
- 8:40Speaker 1: was really worried that it was going to be enemies
- 8:42Speaker 1: to lover situation, and I'm so glad it wasn't. And
- 8:46Speaker 1: that is exactly what I thought it would be. The
- 8:50Speaker 1: typical Hallmark formula where they hate each other for seventy
- 8:53Speaker 1: five minutes and then they kiss, right, I love you.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I like that, you know they basically liked each other
- 8:59Speaker 1: from the star. Yes. I do have a wish though,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and it's going to tie back to what I just
- 9:04Speaker 1: said and what you just said about them knowing each other.
- 9:07Speaker 1: But I like that the tension between them wasn't you
- 9:11Speaker 1: know they can't stop fighting? It was instead of like,
- 9:13Speaker 1: how how can we figure this out so everybody wins?
- 9:16Speaker 1: That's what I enjoyed about it. I thought it was
- 9:19Speaker 1: well played. In terms of the storytelling. There was some
- 9:23Speaker 1: incredible writing in this movie. I lloled at Secret Lives
- 9:27Speaker 1: of Grecian wise, Yep, that has McLean Nelson all over it,
- 9:30Speaker 1: isn't it. Yes? Yes, I thought so too, and my
- 9:33Speaker 1: little skinny Greek wedding. Great line. And I also loved
- 9:38Speaker 1: the possibly missed line where alex is telling Georgia that
- 9:41Speaker 1: she would make a terrible detective. Yes, I laughed out loud.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Nice little curious cater or Zinger right there. I just
- 9:49Speaker 1: thought there were so many lines like that that I
- 9:51Speaker 1: just thought were so clever. And we know that McLean
- 9:54Speaker 1: had a hand and Haul at the Halloween and I
- 9:57Speaker 1: just I like when we see his writing stamp on things,
- 10:01Speaker 1: just ha levels things up. Yeah, his writing, his choices
- 10:06Speaker 1: are very contemporary and they land for someone like me
- 10:09Speaker 1: who like is very familiar with like Bravo pop culture. Yeah, exactly,
- 10:15Speaker 1: exactly a couple of small little things corefew. I don't
- 10:20Speaker 1: I don't know where this place is at, but it's stunning.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I know. My notes say grease. Obviously, I'm like, take
- 10:26Speaker 1: me there. The water, the architecture, those little streets, like hmm,
- 10:31Speaker 1: the food. The food always looks good. I remember watching
- 10:36Speaker 1: The Groomsmen and they were in Greece and there was
- 10:39Speaker 1: like a feta salad and I remember feta salad in
- 10:42Speaker 1: this one too, and I'm like, can I get a
- 10:45Speaker 1: feta salad here in Orange County somewhere that has like
- 10:47Speaker 1: these big chunks of feti cheese and just like vegetables,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it looks amazing. Do you just want to take a
- 10:53Speaker 1: Greek Isles cruise? Because I think we should do that.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Let's do that. Yeah, I'm down, definitely put it on
- 10:58Speaker 1: the on the mood board, baby, because this is now
- 11:01Speaker 1: the third and like cruise, I think we want to
- 11:03Speaker 1: take together. I know a couple other little things. I
- 11:07Speaker 1: liked that there were just nice people in this movie.
- 11:11Speaker 1: So we have the whole detective interview right where they
- 11:16Speaker 1: have the dinner. They have the dinner and then Alex
- 11:18Speaker 1: goes with his future boss and they're talking about like
- 11:21Speaker 1: potentially working as a detective, and I just like that
- 11:24Speaker 1: Alex comes clean and tells the truth and he's like,
- 11:27Speaker 1: here's the situation. And then and then it kind of
- 11:30Speaker 1: leaves it on the cliffhanger. The boss is like, well,
- 11:32Speaker 1: let me tell you what now that I know the truth,
- 11:34Speaker 1: here is what it is. There's there's it would just
- 11:38Speaker 1: these are just like good people. There's no giant misunderstanding,
- 11:41Speaker 1: there's no fake conflict of that there. It just felt good.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And then to put a button on it. The land
- 11:48Speaker 1: Registry guy comes at the end and he's like the
- 11:50Speaker 1: nicest guy like I had the entire the entire movie.
- 11:54Speaker 1: They made him out as being like, oh, you got
- 11:56Speaker 1: to really fake it for this guy. He's he's he's
- 12:00Speaker 1: they are fine. He's the nicest man in Greece. I know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: you know. I'm reading a book, just finished a book.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It's also about a fake marriage and the entire time.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'm waiting for the discovery, the blow up of people
- 12:14Speaker 1: finding out that they're faking it, and they eventually come
- 12:17Speaker 1: clean in the book and everyone reacts in these really
- 12:21Speaker 1: appropriate ways, and I was like, oh my gosh, that
- 12:24Speaker 1: didn't need to be the drama, Like, that's not where
- 12:26Speaker 1: the conflict was. I liked that that we didn't have
- 12:29Speaker 1: all this blow up of having to smooth all of
- 12:32Speaker 1: these feelings over. That's a really good point. Do you
- 12:35Speaker 1: think Hallmark leans too heavily on that being the meat
- 12:41Speaker 1: of their story is like the big blow up, the
- 12:44Speaker 1: miss villain and the misunderstanding. I think we've been leaning
- 12:48Speaker 1: a little bit more recently into real conflict, because the
- 12:52Speaker 1: real conflict in this movie doesn't come from discovering that
- 12:56Speaker 1: their marriage it's fake. It comes from we live on
- 12:58Speaker 1: different continents, we have different lives. How are we going
- 12:59Speaker 1: to make that work? And I do have some thoughts
- 13:01Speaker 1: on that, But I like when the conflict isn't some
- 13:05Speaker 1: silly misunderstanding, it's this is the reality of life. How
- 13:09Speaker 1: do we make our life work? And I do think
- 13:11Speaker 1: we've seen a little bit more of that in our
- 13:13Speaker 1: Hallmark movies recently. I hope that's a trend we keep right,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I mean, you know, and I know a lot of
- 13:19Speaker 1: listeners are like, I like the escapist mode, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: like give me all the escapist drama. Yeah, but this
- 13:24Speaker 1: is so escapists Like she she goes to this beautiful island,
- 13:28Speaker 1: meets a beautiful Greek man, they fall in love. He's
- 13:31Speaker 1: got a wonderful mother, And you know, I just thought
- 13:34Speaker 1: this is so escapist, Like look at her wardrobe. Oh
- 13:37Speaker 1: my god, the wardrobe. Is that on your likes? Yes?
- 13:40Speaker 1: Can I talk about Nicki? Yes? I love everything about
- 13:43Speaker 1: Nicki's look in this movie. First of all, the sleek bob.
- 13:46Speaker 1: She's rocking at the beginning. Her hair looked amazing, right, incredible,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and her hair softens into waves as she's falling in love,
- 13:55Speaker 1: as will often happen with our female characters. And I
- 13:59Speaker 1: liked that as well. But in the beginning, when she's
- 14:02Speaker 1: just got that really blunt, sleek bob, I loved it.
- 14:04Speaker 1: It's a look that I've never seen on her. She's
- 14:07Speaker 1: got incredible clothes. Her dresses throughout they're giving aspirational vacation
- 14:13Speaker 1: at every turn. Her wedding dress was stunning. I loved it.
- 14:19Speaker 1: The shoes she wore and she's rocking these Michelle Obama arms.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And I don't know if you remember, but in Christmas
- 14:26Speaker 1: at Sea, one of her scenes, like she runs into
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm air quoting one of the couples that they're following
- 14:33Speaker 1: in season one in the gym, and I don't know why,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but's seeing her and all these sleeveless shirts with these
- 14:40Speaker 1: killer arms. I'm like, we need the workout routine. I
- 14:43Speaker 1: got to tell you, it's the number one thing on
- 14:45Speaker 1: my Did you see that? And since oh mentioned here,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I wrote, Nikki Delochio's arms are absolutely shredded. Yes, and
- 14:52Speaker 1: that's it. That's all I have is say, I'm like,
- 14:54Speaker 1: where did those arms come from? Has she been like
- 14:57Speaker 1: working on the yes? You know, we just spent an
- 15:01Speaker 1: hour on Patreon and I was talking about how I
- 15:03Speaker 1: need a real, like weightlifting routine. Maybe we need to
- 15:07Speaker 1: message Nicki and see if we can get her on
- 15:09Speaker 1: the podcast and just talk about what the arm routine is,
- 15:12Speaker 1: because gosh, damn, yeah, how do you prioritize that? Damn
- 15:17Speaker 1: looks great? I have one more like, Okay, it's I
- 15:21Speaker 1: loved Elena Alex's mom. I think she's overbearing, But in
- 15:23Speaker 1: a fun roll your eyes lovingly at her sort of way. Yeah. Like, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 1: she is definitely like a little bit of the stereotypical
- 15:31Speaker 1: Greek mother perhaps, but you can't help but love her. No.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I thought she was wonderful. She was so loving and
- 15:39Speaker 1: like warm, Yeah, just down for the ride of it all.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I guess you know. It wasn't overbearing in a oh
- 15:49Speaker 1: my baby boy and you're stealing him a way sort
- 15:51Speaker 1: of way like she was, you know, in a love
- 15:54Speaker 1: multiplies kind of way. That's so nice. It was nice.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Do you have any more likes? That's it. Let's take
- 16:00Speaker 1: a quick break and we'll come right back to talk
- 16:02Speaker 1: about our wishes. All right, Wendy, what did you wish for?
- 16:13Speaker 1: I needed more proof that these two had history. M Yes,
- 16:20Speaker 1: we know that she spent a summer there or was
- 16:23Speaker 1: it a summer or was it longer? I can't, I
- 16:27Speaker 1: don't know. She just kept saying, like, studied abroad. Yeah right.
- 16:31Speaker 1: This movie keeps telling us that Georgia and Alex knew
- 16:33Speaker 1: each other from years ago, but I never really fully
- 16:37Speaker 1: bought into it, especially because there's this moment where his
- 16:41Speaker 1: mom says to her, like, oh, Alex, or she says
- 16:46Speaker 1: Alexandra or whatever his name is, I'm sorry, and you
- 16:49Speaker 1: see Georgia kind of go oh oh Alex, like she
- 16:52Speaker 1: didn't fully remember who he was, but Alex knew, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: Alice clearly remembered who Georgia was. So so what I
- 17:00Speaker 1: would have loved is maybe like a little flashback or
- 17:03Speaker 1: some old photos or a story something, because my interpretation
- 17:08Speaker 1: is that maybe there was a young Alex who was
- 17:12Speaker 1: maybe like a little bit awkward and like was a
- 17:15Speaker 1: love sick puppy for Georgia sure has been carrying it
- 17:18Speaker 1: for all this time, and Georgia didn't really know who
- 17:21Speaker 1: he was. That's the story I have built in my head. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: rather than like these two flirted her entire time that
- 17:29Speaker 1: people were there. I think your story might be more
- 17:32Speaker 1: accurate because when Alex is talking to Nico in the
- 17:34Speaker 1: beginningn go's like, oh, didn't you have a crush on her?
- 17:37Speaker 1: And He's like, I had a crush on every girl
- 17:38Speaker 1: who would even look my direction. So you know, you
- 17:42Speaker 1: get the impression that he was like a little bit
- 17:43Speaker 1: of an awkward, younger dude who kind of grew into himself. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: So I just wish there was some something that we
- 17:51Speaker 1: could have seen that, Like I would love like a flashback,
- 17:55Speaker 1: but I know that's hard to execute. Yes, but yeah
- 17:59Speaker 1: when there's twenty years, yeah exactly. My other I have
- 18:05Speaker 1: two more wishes. The other one is I wish we
- 18:10Speaker 1: would have gotten a little bit more about Georgia's creative work.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I hadn't picked up that. Maybe so she has her
- 18:22Speaker 1: business partner, is it Rose? I can't remember her name,
- 18:26Speaker 1: but Rose kind of seems to like George is the
- 18:30Speaker 1: creative one, yes, and Rose is like the business one, right,
- 18:35Speaker 1: kind of like us Megan anyway, and you know, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: it seems to me maybe Georgia, I mean obviously she's
- 18:45Speaker 1: not opening her mail and like reading these books. Yes, yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: so I haven't now pegged her in my mind as
- 18:51Speaker 1: like oh, she's just like flighty creative one who can't
- 18:54Speaker 1: like be pinned down or whatever. But then like she
- 18:58Speaker 1: goes to Greece since she's trying to like come up
- 19:01Speaker 1: with a marketing pitch for this jewelry. Right, it's like
- 19:05Speaker 1: a whiff of a c storyline that we get at
- 19:09Speaker 1: the end, Georgia talks about like oh being here is
- 19:13Speaker 1: like inspired me again and stuff. It just was like
- 19:15Speaker 1: a weird storyline that didn't really come full Well, that
- 19:21Speaker 1: kind of speaks to one of my wishes if I
- 19:22Speaker 1: can piggyback on that really quickly. Yeah, And I think
- 19:24Speaker 1: it's that the message of her being flighty is very
- 19:27Speaker 1: mixed in this movie. Her parents called any decision that
- 19:32Speaker 1: they didn't like that wasn't the path that they envisioned
- 19:35Speaker 1: for her flighty. Right, if you're gonna pursue a creative path,
- 19:39Speaker 1: that's being flighty, Which that's inaccurate one. But she's clearly
- 19:43Speaker 1: a strong, capable woman. But she also ignored legal notices
- 19:47Speaker 1: for an entire year. When she hands out to her
- 19:49Speaker 1: business partner and she's like, decode this. Come on, it's
- 19:52Speaker 1: not written in a language that you cannot understand. I
- 19:55Speaker 1: was frustrated by that, and she ignored it for an
- 19:59Speaker 1: entire year with out expecting there to be consequences. But
- 20:02Speaker 1: when she arrives in Greece, she's very no nonsense, very like,
- 20:05Speaker 1: these are the steps we need to take to get
- 20:07Speaker 1: things done. And she takes the bull by the horns,
- 20:10Speaker 1: so to speak. I mean, she's moving forward, but we're
- 20:13Speaker 1: to believe, you know, she gets nervous. She's like, oh,
- 20:16Speaker 1: do you think I'm being flighty when she's talking to
- 20:18Speaker 1: her business partner, and I'm like, that's unfair that your
- 20:22Speaker 1: parents put that on you, because it's the wrong adjective,
- 20:25Speaker 1: like maybe you're not as driven by the business side
- 20:29Speaker 1: of things, but to suggest that the creative force is
- 20:33Speaker 1: flighty because she's not the one handling the spreadsheets is uneven.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I agree, absolutely agree. And there's one part when she's
- 20:43Speaker 1: telling Alex about like her parents were disappointed in her.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't know how old this character, late thirties forties, right,
- 20:52Speaker 1: If my parents were like, oh, I'm disappointed in you
- 20:55Speaker 1: because you've left a big corporate and struck out on
- 20:59Speaker 1: your own. Yeah, And she was very clear about not
- 21:02Speaker 1: asking them for money because her business partners like, should
- 21:05Speaker 1: we call your parents? And she's like, no, we're going
- 21:07Speaker 1: to figure this out. So what part of that is
- 21:10Speaker 1: disappointing to you? I yeah, as a parent, i'd be like, no,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm not what right? What now? If my eighteen year
- 21:18Speaker 1: old was like, I'm not going to go to college
- 21:21Speaker 1: and become an influencer, Okay, I might have some words
- 21:23Speaker 1: about it, but not I'm not going to say anything
- 21:26Speaker 1: to my thirty five year old plus child. I'm going
- 21:30Speaker 1: to be supportive. I don't know, just I thought that
- 21:32Speaker 1: was weird. That was weird. Okay, My last wish and
- 21:36Speaker 1: I have a feeling you might have similar feelings, is
- 21:40Speaker 1: how what's this look like going forward? What's happening here? Right?
- 21:45Speaker 1: So I wrote, I might be mad if my business
- 21:48Speaker 1: partner decided to move to another country and work remotely indefinitely.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So don't go falling in love with a Greek dude, Wendy,
- 21:55Speaker 1: because I think it is a little bit unfair to
- 21:58Speaker 1: her business partner to make this big decision. Yeah, and
- 22:05Speaker 1: what's she gonna say? Like, of course they're best friends,
- 22:07Speaker 1: so of course she's gonna be like, Okay, well you know,
- 22:09Speaker 1: choose you. But how are we gonna make this work.
- 22:12Speaker 1: We're gonna zoom meeting every one of our and it's
- 22:15Speaker 1: unclear because it doesn't seem like they have a plan.
- 22:17Speaker 1: She's like, I just need more time to figure out
- 22:19Speaker 1: how we're gonna make this work. But he's going to
- 22:22Speaker 1: be a Greek detective. He cannot relocate or even spend
- 22:27Speaker 1: part of the year in the States. Mm hmm, yeah, Canada,
- 22:32Speaker 1: maybe that is how they wrap this story up. They're
- 22:35Speaker 1: like Okay, we don't actually need a fully fleshed out sure,
- 22:39Speaker 1: we're just gonna say, like, you know, Georgia needs to
- 22:42Speaker 1: figure it out, so she just needs more time to
- 22:44Speaker 1: figure it out. Yeah, it is unfair to her business
- 22:47Speaker 1: partner who they have, like a firm in the States
- 22:52Speaker 1: or whatever. And I mean you and I we can
- 22:56Speaker 1: do podcasting wherever. Yeah, but I wouldn't want to be
- 23:00Speaker 1: remote forever, you know what I mean? Yeah? Yeah, I
- 23:03Speaker 1: mean obviously if you're like, I'm gonna have across the
- 23:04Speaker 1: country to live where my kid lives. Yeah, okay, we
- 23:08Speaker 1: could do it, but would you want to remotely? I
- 23:13Speaker 1: don't know. I honestly thought about this. This is so
- 23:15Speaker 1: funny that you bring it up. I thought about it.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I was like, what if one of us moved, like
- 23:19Speaker 1: to another country, we would have to find a time
- 23:22Speaker 1: of day that oh yeah crossed over for the both
- 23:25Speaker 1: of us, right, that we could do this, But I mean,
- 23:28Speaker 1: there's no plans for that, so not yet. Oh okay
- 23:33Speaker 1: for not moving to another country me neither. That's how
- 23:36Speaker 1: I got for wishes. Let's talk did to see that one?
- 23:39Speaker 1: I already talk about Nikki's arms. I want to talk
- 23:43Speaker 1: about which I think was a body double situation. Oh
- 23:48Speaker 1: when they went swimming and the swimsuit, this swimsuit was
- 23:53Speaker 1: real cheeky, incredibly cheeky. It was like I saw it twice.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I actually think it was like it looked like a song, yes, whatever,
- 24:02Speaker 1: like I don't care, but I don't think that was
- 24:04Speaker 1: Nicky swimming in those in those Nicky or the actor
- 24:08Speaker 1: who played Alex swimming in that, because it was like
- 24:11Speaker 1: a it looked like a drone scene basically, like well,
- 24:14Speaker 1: and it was kind of rough, like they're super rough.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Was like, I don't think I would want to swim
- 24:18Speaker 1: through here. I'd be afraid I'd get smashed up against
- 24:20Speaker 1: the side of the cave wall. Yeah, exactly. But yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 1: that babie suit was real cheeky. And then when they
- 24:26Speaker 1: showed Nikki out of the water, it was not. No,
- 24:28Speaker 1: it was very very much not very Hallmark appropriate. Yes,
- 24:34Speaker 1: we actually had a listener Michelle also DMS and say,
- 24:38Speaker 1: did you see that baby suit body? Yeah, it was
- 24:41Speaker 1: kind of surprising for Hallmark. Yeah, me too, because if
- 24:44Speaker 1: you'll recall the finish line, do you remember Kim Mattula's
- 24:48Speaker 1: tragic red bathing suit. Yes, but in Keith Nielsen's defense, Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: he had a hot one that was too sexy for TV,
- 24:56Speaker 1: too sexy for Hallmark TV. Yeah. The food, I know,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I talked a little bit about it, but also in
- 25:02Speaker 1: my first impression the Eero, my senior, I don't know,
- 25:07Speaker 1: I'm not Greek. I don't know what I'm talking about.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I love I love me a euro but it had
- 25:14Speaker 1: French fries, French fries in it. I was like, oh
- 25:18Speaker 1: my god, that looked amazing, didn't it. They were just
- 25:22Speaker 1: chowing down on them too, and I was like, damn, damn. Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I gotta go to Greece, man, I mean, or to
- 25:29Speaker 1: my local Nicks down the street, Nick the Greek. Yes,
- 25:34Speaker 1: exactly did they put French fries in their Euros? I
- 25:37Speaker 1: don't know, but I do know locally every summer there
- 25:41Speaker 1: is the Laguna Sawdust Festival and they have a Greek
- 25:45Speaker 1: stand there that they sell these Feta fries, French fries
- 25:50Speaker 1: with crumbled feta cheese and lemon on it. They're so
- 25:54Speaker 1: freaking good. Do you know that. I've never been to
- 25:56Speaker 1: the sawdust Festival ever in my life, but you know
- 25:59Speaker 1: who would love it but your daughter? Yeah, it's a
- 26:02Speaker 1: nice vibe and then made a taker. It's very low key. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You just look at all the booths and then they
- 26:08Speaker 1: have some like interactive stuff you can do and music
- 26:11Speaker 1: and food. It's fun. My last did you see that?
- 26:14Speaker 1: It goes back to Nikki's wardrobe. It was incredible that.
- 26:17Speaker 1: But there was one scene that I noticed she had.
- 26:20Speaker 1: She was wearing leggings under one of her Maxi dresses.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I saw it out from the bottom of it. I thought, oh,
- 26:26Speaker 1: that's interesting. I'm like, was it cold maybe when they
- 26:29Speaker 1: were filming this maybe, I don't know. All right, when
- 26:33Speaker 1: they get married, they put rings on the right hand,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and I thought, I was like, really getting something there,
- 26:37Speaker 1: and then Alex goes to put the ring on her
- 26:38Speaker 1: right hand and he goes, it's the Greek way. And
- 26:41Speaker 1: then I looked it up and it is, in fact
- 26:42Speaker 1: Greek tradition to wear your wedding rings on your right hand.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Thank you for clarification on that, because I noticed that too.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Speaking of interesting clothing choices, in the final canal swim,
- 26:53Speaker 1: they're both wearing water shoes, which I understand were necessary
- 26:56Speaker 1: for the moment, but also they truly ruined their cue out,
- 27:00Speaker 1: Like she's got this cute bathing suit and a sarong
- 27:02Speaker 1: and these black and lime green water shoes. Yeah, and
- 27:08Speaker 1: this final did to see that this is at least
- 27:11Speaker 1: the second movie Nikki de Loche has started, where she
- 27:13Speaker 1: has been required to split an inheritance Sweet Autumn, with
- 27:16Speaker 1: Andrew Walker being the other that I know. Oh, good
- 27:19Speaker 1: poll Megan. Yeah, I believe it's her aunt in that
- 27:22Speaker 1: one leaves her the candy store. Oh we watched that,
- 27:26Speaker 1: didn't we? Yes? And Nicky's character is so mean through
- 27:30Speaker 1: most of the movie. Oh this is that's truly like
- 27:33Speaker 1: Enemies Lover. Yeah, yep, yep. Nice? All right? What did
- 27:38Speaker 1: you rate? I almost said Sweet Autum? What did you
- 27:40Speaker 1: rate the Greek? Ayle? I gave it four stars? Just
- 27:43Speaker 1: did I? Nice? Strong start for Summer of Love? Summer Loven?
- 27:49Speaker 1: Is that what it's called? Summer Loven? What is it
- 27:51Speaker 1: called summer lovin? Seems summer nights? Okay, less spicy? Hey,
