- Catie: Welcome back to From Nine to Mom. Danielle: Where we discuss balancing the nine to five hustle with the beautiful chaos that we call motherhood. I can't believe it. Catie: You nailed it. This is the first time we are recording in it's over been over a month. It might have it might be six weeks. Danielle: Yes, and I feel very rusty. Catie: It's very rusty. We both had a lot of adjustments with our mics and that, but we're happy to be back on. Danielle: Yeah. I know. I feel like I've missed therapy for six weeks and it's n it's an uncomfortable place to be when you're not doing it. Catie: We've definitely had a lot going on. We've had so many amazing guests. It's been five weeks or no, six weeks of guests on the podcast. And we kind of did that strategically because we've been busy as ever and we needed Danielle: Yes, and Catie: to pre record. Danielle: yeah, and it was it was honestly very fun to pre-record with all these people. I hope that you guys enjoyed. We learned a lot of stuff talking to the experts. Sometimes I felt pretty stupid, sometimes I felt really educated, but it didn't matter. Catie: No, there was definitely a lot of learning that happened, but then it's also so hard to not relate everything to like what we have going on and we want to get Danielle: Yes. Catie: you guys the best info. But if you're new here, we should dive Danielle: Welcome. Catie: into a little bit about us because we have a lot of new podcast listeners from all of our guests that have come on. Danielle: That's true. I I don't even know how we introduce ourselves in a few words. Where I'm Danielle, that's Katie. Catie: I don't even think we need to yeah. I think yeah, right. Like do some research before you just dry listen to a podcast, maybe, right? Danielle: Ha ha ha. Catie: but I mean, one of the big updates I had was I have a five year old now, which is crazy. Danielle: That is true. Catie: So yeah, now five and three. Boys. Danielle: And they both went to school in the last six weeks. Catie: We started school. It's been a big adjustments around these parts right now. Lots of Danielle: And you got bunk beds. Catie: my God, yeah, there's gonna be so many things. My whole life has changed. Danielle: I feel like your whole life has changed in the last six weeks. Catie: I'm a new person. yeah, both because it was like we honestly haven't recorded since August. So yeah, school started for us. Jack's doing amazing. I feel like where I left off with a lot of you on the podcast and I've talked about it a lot, was that I was so worried that I was gonna have like carry Jack over my shoulder onto the bus. This kid went on the bus with a smile, didn't even look back to like take a picture. Danielle: Yeah, you cried Catie: And just Danielle: more than he did for sure. Catie: totally. He's been on the bus every single day without fail, no issue whatsoever. But Danielle: But that's good, that's what you wanted, Catie: it is. And I'm like, okay, like this is what you want. And then you you parents I know always sit and are like, it's so sad when they don't like look back. And let me tell you, no, it's not. That is be happy if they don't look back at you. Danielle: That's that's true, but it's also one of those things where you want them to miss you, but not too much. It's a it's a delicate balance. But I'm proud of Jack. I we were worried for a minute. Look at him go. Spread his wings and fly. Catie: This. We were definitely worried. So the anxiety is down a lot with him. And he's like, I don't know, something about five, in school, he's just all of a sudden a little boy. And I like I was prepared, but the things he says, I'm just like, my god, where did that come from? Or the the new and it's been for everyone for a while, but kindergartners doing the six, seven. And there's a zero tolerance in our house because Ryan might off himself if he hears that one more time from Danielle: Seriously. So you have a zero tolerance for six, seven. There's way worse things, trust me, that they could be saying in the house. Catie: and he n that's the thing is like Ryan's prepared for it, but then he has no tolerance at home for it because he deals with it all day. So he's like, Danielle: Yeah, I've heard that. Catie: I'm not gonna let them be like that. There's so much that he's learning just from all of all of the things. But I will say the biggest ex most exciting development for Ryan and I is that he officially thinks sports are cool and Danielle: That is a big deal. Catie: we're just leaning in full force. If you know us, we're like, You think basketball's cool, boom, we signed ya up. Let's do it. So Danielle: You got you have to take advantage of the moments where it is cool. I feel like Colton to this day will go back and forth about what he thinks is cool. He loves basketball and he asks for new basketball for Christmas, even though we haven't played with the old basketball since basketball ended. but and then he does love soccer too. I I know like, but okay, this is a development because we all know Colton. I'm sorry, bro. Colton's built for sports, but he's also a baby gazelle. He's just growing so fast, and always has, that he's never fully caught up with his body. It's like an adjustment every time he steps onto a field. but but I don't know if I told you this, Katie, that the other day I went to pick him up and the counselor came outside. And it's this young guy, and he's like, yo, me and Colton just got done playing basketball together. He's like, he comes and like leans in the car and he's like, hey, like he's good. Like if you want to put him into a sport. he's if he practices, he's not just good, he can be good, good. My face, shock and awe, trying not to shock, like show my son that I am in awe of this situation. Catie: We knew he could do it, yeah. Danielle: But I'm like, are you Colton? You sure? We're talking about Colton. Yeah. I just got off. I was like gr came home, told my family real, real proud moment. But we'll see how that transpires here. But I was pretty excited about it. Catie: Good. Well, maybe it will give him a little confidence and then he'll go. Cause I feel like that's like Jack, the minute someone was like, you're really good at that, he was like, you're right. maybe I am, and he thinks it's cool now to do it. but Jack thinks he'll be on TV. So that's why he wants to do it. Danielle: To wait till you go through the classroom and it says, What do you want to when you grow up and your kid says famous like minded? But Colton thought he'd be famous, maybe be a k K pop star, which we've talked about. Impossible for him to be. Catie: Yeah, he'd have to join a different boy band, but still not out of the question, I expose. Danielle: Mm-hmm. We have to No, you just not whatever. Never you never know. They could both be on TV. Hopefully it's for sports. they were here last night. This is digressing. I Catie: He could be a Jonas brother. That's it's so sad. We did leave off on one of the podcast episodes saying, should we go? And we didn't go, guys. We should have gone. Danielle: We should have went. We should have went. I am so mad. I did not go because Jordan had a super important ex golf and Colton had a big test at school today. So one of us had to be the responsible parent. And apparently that one was me. Catie: Well, I'm glad. Financially and responsibly you you nailed it. So now you next time you did it. You Danielle: Yeah. Catie: already were responsible once. You can't do it twice. Danielle: I was responsible except this morning the stray kids movie tickets for the theaters came out, so I did buy those this morning. You win some, you lose some. Yeah, it's fine. It's fine, right? Catie: Well, movie tickets, concert tickets, you know, different. But I get to go next week. So next time you hear from me, I will have already gone to a Jonas Brothers concert and I'm excited. Danielle: I went Katie and I have been friends now for over eight years. Is it been eight years, right? Catie: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Danielle: You went to one concert, one concert before the Joe Bros went back on tour. This girl went to one concert that I remember. It was Catie: Yeah. Danielle: like it was a country concert, right? Catie: Literally never. I when I tell you up until I went to yeah, Kelsey Ballerini. Wow, you you have a good memory. I went because Danielle: Yes. Catie: my sister was pregnant and she really didn't want to go. She's like, You gotta take my ticket, you gotta go. So I in you know, I was like, All right, like how do you say no to an eight month pregnant person? So I went for her and I was like, I think I like concerts again. Me and Ryan hadn't been to a concert. in 12 years before that. The f our one of our first Danielle: You know me, I'm a con like Catie: one of our first dates was a concert and then we never went again. Like we just didn't. The date was great, Danielle: So the the date went well, but the concert wasn't it for you. It wasn't your vibe. Catie: but like Ryan hates crowds. And then we went for anyone that follows, we I dragged him to a country music festival in August. Danielle: Because the Jonas brothers were there. Catie: They were headlining and we got VIP tickets. And it was really funny. And actually the other funny th he hates crowds and that, but he loves live music. if you had live music at a bar or that, that's his vibe. And I think he's slowly like, Okay, wait, concerts are cool and the Jonas brothers aren't bad. there's some good songs. So he's coming again next week. And both my sisters and this is our now it's become a thing. Like we're gonna just keep going. They're gonna keep touring, like it's never gonna end. And we Upgraded our tickets. I forgot to tell you that too. We did. And we didn't tell Danielle: You did you did upgrade them? Catie: the guys yet. So we'll see if any of my peeps that are going with me even listened to this podcast. But we upgraded them. Steph found them same price down way closer in the hundreds. So we Danielle: Listen, I'm so jealous because I almost drove, Catie: Mm. Danielle: as to Raleigh to see them two weeks because Jamie Miller was playing with them. And then I was, Catie: That would have been good. Danielle: so I'm gonna have to find one and go. But I'm also like, I feel like a psychopath because right now, and I know there's other people in this boat, this is not what we were supposed talk about today, but Catie: No. Danielle: it's time to plan for 2027, like vacations, things like that. Katie and I have some exciting stuff coming up. So it's been a little bit different of a planning year. For me, but if you listen to the podcast, you know that I'm always going. I'm always planning. There's the next thing is always on the docket. Catie: It's booked, yeah. Danielle: Booked, done. But if you've listened to the podcast, you also know that I'm obsessed with K-pop. And both of my two favorite K-pop artists are releasing North American tour dates at some point here. And I feel like I can't plan anything until I know when the tour dates are, Catie: You have to plan around. Danielle: because I'm going to plan around these tour dates. So I'm just in this limbo. waiting, Catie: Mm. Danielle: but because of that, I am I travel for work, but it's not the same. I'm going to Houston tomorrow. But it's just not the same. If there was a concert, I of course looked it up. There's somber is gonna be there. Weezer plays tomorrow night, which there is a little tiny Catie: Mm. Danielle: chance that I say it ain't so, but I don't I don't think that it's like that exciting. But we there are BTS, they're they're Catie: It's not calling you that aggressively. Yeah. Danielle: army. So I would go just to support my fellow army. Catie: Sure. Yeah. Danielle: No. Catie: I yeah, I feel like it's it's hard because yeah, you want to plan around those things, but it is time to plan. We me and Ryan were just talking, we're like, what are we gonna do for vacations? Jack's begging to go on vacation. He's like, I wanna go on an airplane again and I'm like, dude, if you knew how much it costs to step on an airplane, you probably would still wanna go, but like you don't understand. so Danielle: You have to put it in like Pokemon packs or something that they can translate. Catie: If he gets started on right now it's squishies. We've entered our squishy Danielle: Yeah, all the kids are blue. Catie: era. which I'll take squishies over slime. Honestly, I don't know if that's a hot take or not. Danielle: Yeah. I love both, so Catie: I don't mind the squishies. but I mean I've trained them at this point. Anytime they go anywhere with me, we buy something, but we are in a sticker chart era right now because one of the things we have to talk about is Calvin's eye patch. We start I Danielle: Yeah. Catie: think we left off that he was getting one or maybe I said he was doing fine. He is terrible. And I'm sorry if this finds you later in life, Cal, but you are terrible with it. And it was cool at first. We're supposed to wear it two hours a day. And now he's gotten like smart about it and is like, no, I he'll he is playing all of us now at this point. So like I'm drop him off at school. Ryan's parents pick him up. He'll tell them he already wore it today. So that he 'cause Danielle: What? Catie: They were like, we'll just have him put it on when he gets here and do a little rest because we don't nap, but we need rest time. you know, and have him kind of lounge around with it on and that. He'll be like, I already wore it. They'll have to text me and be like, Did he wear it? And I'm like, No. Like he's Danielle: Homie didn't wear it. Catie: he's working the system here. And then he'll like you finally get it. Danielle: I'm actually proud of Like, aren't you kinda proud of for like Catie: Little psycho second kid, right? Like he then Danielle: Yeah. They are psychotic. Catie: we'll like get it on him after 10 bribes, right? Like The brides aren't even working anymore. I'll be like, I will go buy you any toy you want. No, I don't need any more toys, Mom. Okay. Then it's like he'll get it on. And then all of a sudden you're like, Where'd Kel go? And he's like hiding and takes it off and like sits and hides till you find him. Danielle: Well Catie: So then I go to the doctor and they're like, It's working. He's doing so well. And I'm like, guys, we are barely wearing it. Like, how is it working? Like, what's going on? Danielle: So I wonder the other people I know that have had their kids in eye patches have said the same thing. I wonder if they purposefully tell you that you have to do it like double the Catie: to Danielle: amount of time just knowing that kids are kids and Catie: It changes. Danielle: you're gonna panic. So they're like, you what, we'll tell they need it four days a week. They really only need it two, but you know. Catie: Well, that's where I'm at. it's i I mean, he said it's like aggressively working. Like ha we're like two points back to w whatever I don't understand eye vision stuff at all. So he could tell me that he's whatever and I don't know. But he's like, it's working really well. So I won't like I'm encouraging you to stick with it. If it wasn't working, I'd be like, let's figure something out. Because my concern is like he's starting to show some bad behavior. Like he's getting mad at us. He hit me the one time and there's no hitting mom here. And he like he just lashes out and then he like he his the worst thing right now is he'll be like, This is the worst day ever. And you're just like, Danielle: sounds familiar. Catie: my god, the drama. Danielle: I can't be happy. I just can't be happy. It's the worst day of my life. Catie: and then they're learning the zones. I'm in the red zone. Danielle: I love when they learn the zone. Catie: Well, Jack's learning the zones, which means Calvin learned the zones. my God. It's hilarious. Danielle: Yeah, I mean everything that Jack learns, Cal is gonna learn. that's cold and bigger. Catie: So this is my SOS. If you had a kid that wear wore an eye patch and you had something work, we're in a sticker chart right now and it seems to be okay, but then sometimes he's like, I don't need a sticker. Danielle: But we we need talk about the sticker chart because I definitely we share a Canva account for those of you that don't know Katie Nice for a lot of things. So I saw your cute little sticker chart. I was like, they Catie: Did you see my chart? Yeah. Danielle: must be working on something. but I didn't like click into it. I just saw it there and I knew what it was because we've all made them. but sticker charts in general. Colton is like he has homework, so it's a different thing that he needs to do. Colton Catie: Yes. Yep. Danielle: hates homework. He loves math. He hates reading. So he hates homework in general because a majority of his homework is in reading and writing. So they have this Catie: Mm-hmm. Danielle: thing called homework club. And last month it was he wanted to be in homework club so bad, but it was like we were down to the wire. The last day we were doing, you have to do 12 in a month. So we were doing the last four on the last day because he was like just being not wanting to do it. So this month I bought him, speaking of squishies. The crunchy butter squishy. We bought it that morning. Catie: Yep. Yep. Danielle: And I said, Hey, once you finish homework club, I bought one for him and his bestie. Cause I know that he also needs motivation to do homework. And they were coming, he was coming over that night, his little best friend. And I was gonna like say, Hey, let's do two homeworks or one homework together. Make it fun. You guys get the squishy at the end of the month when you hit homework club. Colton's best friend totally dug it. Was like, yeah, after two, he was like, Yeah, I'm good. Like, we'll do we have all month Colton to do the rest. Colton went into mad scientist mode, tears, crying, laughing, Catie: Right. Danielle: 10 PM. He wanted to get that butter squishy so bad. And he was so focused. it wasn't like a linear, or ladder thing, where you're going okay, you earn, earn, earn. He wanted it now. He did Catie: He wants the instant. Danielle: so he wants instant gratification. So like the stickers never worked now that he's older I'm learning it never worked for Colton because it wasn't instant. He's like, cool, I got a Catie: Yeah. Danielle: sticker. Like Getting the prize at the end of the week, just didn't Set for him? Catie: It yeah, he it was too far off. I will say the one thing I did different this time, because I think that's the same with Kelvin. he's like, I don't need that, like that does nothing for me for you to give me a sticker to wear my eye patch. But we did I have the the toys sitting out above their st their charts. So they have to stare at it and they're not allowed to touch it until they earn their stickers. Danielle: Yeah, but the thing is my son went and earned the sti he earned it all in one day Catie: He earned all of in one. Go. Danielle: because he couldn't handle the weight. So I need a tiered approach. Or like, Catie: That's pretty good. Danielle: do I say you have to do it? His brain doesn't compute. if you do it every Thursday, you get this. he's not gonna Catie: Right. Danielle: under he's gonna fall off. He needs it it's gotta be it. Catie: We need to take he needs to take the Enneagram test. Where is the Enneagram test for kids? What is that? Where is that? Danielle: Yeah, that'll let's do more homework. Yeah, there's gotta be there's gotta be one, right? Catie: Yeah, like when they're old enough to answer questions, like you could read it to them. Danielle: Which we have to do another one of those episodes because I've always been the same Myers Briggs. this, I've taken it a billion times over the course of my life. Disc profiles always the same. Katie and I are entering into a new era. And I feel like as I'm entering this new era, I just took it for funsies because someone asked because I wanted to see and it's Catie: Yeah. Danielle: it wasn't the same and I panicked. This is how I know I am my old one because my old type. Would retake it until I got the answer. it didn't make sense to me. So I had to go do more research, then take another Catie: Do the yeah. Danielle: test. Then I just got charged $29.99 when I'm trying to save money for a personality quiz. Catie: Amazing. Danielle: That was a seven-day free trial. The whole thing, all of it makes sense. But it's like I want to do another episode on that. Like, cause as kids, like I would love to see for our kids, like if we did that test today. Like I was so type A as a little kid. So, so like I need everything to be perfect. And I show up as that to the external world when I want, for the majority of my life. But as I've gotten older, the real me, who you guys know, the raccoon car mom, the like Catie: Yeah. Danielle: let's jump on a plane tomorrow person, like is coming out. But like when it matters, I still show up as that I just would love to see how our kids evolve over time. Like, do they stay the same? Do they grow? What does it look like? Catie: Right? There's gotta be a verbal test we can give to like see. We need to analyze our children even further more. What's that say about our personalities? Danielle: So if you're listening and you have one, let us know we want to take it. Well, we want them to take it more than we already do. Because it's just such a healthy, healthy thing to do. And then as we're psychotic. That's what it says. It says we're both like Catie: Mm. Danielle: some weird version. Like, Catie: It's totally a type three thing. So Danielle: yeah, I'm seven wing three. So that makes sense. Like, you know, it's gotta be. but Catie: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Danielle: before we move on. into the last final update of our lives. I want to talk about updates that have are impacting everybody and that's dancing with the stars. The two are released. I already bought my tickets, but I am Catie: Good for you. Danielle: super bummed, depressed that Taylor Hansen is no longer sorry if we spoiler alert, but you should know this by now. he's no longer on the show. Catie: I feel like the older I've gotten, the more people that like are watching. This is like the new Bachelor. Like, I feel people are having watch Danielle: yes. Catie: parties. It's like Danielle: There's an app where you can use to like see who's you can bet on it. You can basically make money off of Catie: Yes. Yes. Danielle: who's we've done fantasy parties over it. Catie: You do all the things. And that's how I feel like The Bachelor was like right when I came out of college. everyone was Danielle: I agree. Catie: watching it, the watch parties, the all that stuff. And now it's dancing with the stars. And me and my best friend were like, we're gonna watch it this year. And we're both in a career change of life where like we don't have a brain pretty much outside of the nine to five and being parents. And so we both were like, Yeah, yeah, we'll watch it. Like every a ton of people around us are watching it. Neither one of us have watched an episode, but I will say I've watched every clip. Danielle: Come on, man. You gotta watch the show. You've gotta learn the stories. You fall Daisy's in love with Ezra. Fret not Fretch. Is that how you say it? Like Ezra, the is it? Catie: Paralympian. Danielle: Paralympian. Yep. He is so we've watched, she's truly in love with him. Like asked me to watch videos of him every day, wants everybody to know his story. She Catie: The hair. Danielle: She tells them about his finger and how he's such a beautiful dancer. She wants to write him love notes. Ezra, if you're ever listening to this, my daughter, she's only three and a half. So a little too young for you. But she would like, she's truly such an advocate. but it's my fault because the first time I watched this man dance, I stopped my family. They were all doing other things. I get in the living room right now. It was Jordan, the kids, and my mom was get in the living room right now. Another freaking K pop idol. Catie: And watch this. Jordan's like, my God, again another guy, like Okay. Danielle: But it was a surprise, not a K-pop idol. it was Ezra. And I was like, if this man can do what I'm about to show you right now, I never want to hear any of you say I can't again. Ever again. Sit and watch. And they all I made them all watch. Like I'm crying because I always dance that's like the one thing that made like Dancing with Stars always makes me cry because I'm like, this is just so freaking great. Catie: Really? Danielle: And Daisy fell in love. And now every week, Daisy watches every single week. Catie: She's texting from your phone and your mom's phone. Yep. She knows how to spell. Danielle: Ezra, Ezra, Ezra, Ezra, Ezra. She's in love with this man. But he's she asked me how to spell his name and she tried to write it. It looked like three bubbles. But you know, it's fine. He's right, Catie: Mm. That's okay. She'll learn. Danielle: she's writing him love notes. But truly, guys, we won't ruin last night's episode because you don't we don't want to ruin what happened, but some real good dancing happening right now. Catie: I saw some clips this morning and that's why I went down the path of looking at Ezra because I was like, I kinda recognize but I didn't. I'm like, what events did he do? And then you scroll and the amount of posts that these people have to do on their social media I Danielle: Unreal. Catie: I fell on a thing of TikTok because when I was like, Okay, I'm gonna watch it, I fell down this path of on TikTok of people talking about like the strategy when you're on Dancing with the Stars and how much posting you need to do and like They based on where you are in the lineup, you need to post more because you have less time to vote when you go later and all this stuff. So I that was interesting to me. but yeah, I just haven't been able to I can't watch anything live. First of all, we got rid of YouTube T V because I'm so cheap. So I don't have any way to watch it live. And then it Danielle: On Disney. Catie: can you watch it live on Disney? Danielle: Disney and Hulu, yeah, you can watch it live. But I like will watch it, pause it, rewind. Catie: Okay. So I could. But it's on what, Tuesdays at eight? Danielle: Yeah. I always watch it in some combination. It's not always, but I try to catch it before the fit, I don't want it to get ruined by me scrolling. But Catie: Yeah, yeah. Danielle: I always vote. I always vote for my people every season. And then I do watch, and I if somebody like moves me, I'll throw them a bone, Catie: You'll throw a a sympathy vote. Danielle: Like I was worried about someone last night, so I voted Catie: Yeah, I feel like Danielle: for them, even though I don't ever vote for them. Catie: Yeah. I need to get into something like that. Ryan and I have no shows right now. We are just watching sports and that's been it. And like Danielle: Me we have no other than this, Jordan and I I've been trying to finish Ted like the most recent episodes of Ted Lasso, which is my one of my favorite shows. And it's like we don't have we're just not there's not enough time and we're about to have even less, I feel like. So cool. Catie: I know. It's like, mm, but yeah, I feel like and the kids are going to bed later and it just I'm like, what what where is their time? What age Danielle: No, they're Catie: do kids put themselves to bed? Danielle: the it depends on what kind of parent you are. They can put themselves to bed like a mil when they're two, but I'm as as a working mom feel guilty and I want to spend time with them. Like the last two nights, Jordan's been gone. So I've worked, they've fallen asleep in my bed next to me. They both need me. And then I'm sitting on my laptop. I took a picture to send to you, I forgot, of me working in bed with both of them asleep beside me because like I can't say no. It's so it's partially like our Catie: Yeah. Danielle: fault. So you can do it whenever you want. I just don't want to yet. I'm afraid Colton's getting to the age where one day he's not gonna want me to and then I'm gonna be sad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Catie: That last day is coming. Yeah. We had an adjustment to our bedtime routine because we did get bunk beds. And let me tell you, the bunk bed we got is sick. It's two, it's a double over double. So they both have large beds. Danielle: It'd be so nice. Catie: because our reason for it was that Calvin was just like falling out of a twin bed. Like he would go sideway, like he's the crazy sleeper. And Danielle: Yeah. Catie: then he wasn't sleeping. So we're like, We need he fell out about twice in a row and then we were like, Okay, with with a thing on the side like it So we were like, It's time. Danielle: How that happens, nobody knows. Catie: But now that Jack's up on the top bunk, I d I don't get up there and lay with him. I am like, Good night, love you, I'll stand with him. Danielle: That's true. I went up on the tapon in my friend's house this weekend because Daisy wanted to sleep up there. So I slept with her and then I went down. Yeah, it was great. Catie: We don't allow Calvin to go up there. He's gonna be the one that jumps off it. Like Daisy would jump off. Danielle: Yeah. Well Daisy's like sitting there with her legs through like it's she's insane. But whatever. Colton Catie: Yeah. Yeah. They would jump. Danielle: would never go sleep in the tap on 'cause he'd be scared. Whatever. Catie: Yeah. Jack like likes it, which I'm surprised by, but he's taking great pride in his stuffy collection up there and the whole thing. So it's been he's been great. It's actually funny that I say it because the since we've had them, last night was the first night Jack had gotten up in the middle of the night. Yeah, he came in our Danielle: Really? That's impressive. Catie: bed at like eleven thirty and we were both just so not all the way awake. He just got into the bed. And I don't know if anyone else like we don't We don't typically have a kid in our bed. It was there was a while Kelvin was. Danielle: Yeah. Catie: and he's gotten much better since the bunk beds. Like he pretty much Danielle: 'Cause he's sharing like the bunk bed and then you moved him in the room together. They're like, know, they're bunk bedding, they're good, you know. Catie: They're good. He like I think he finally feels comfy and like that. But yeah, Jack just got in bed. I didn't even really notice 'til three that he was in bed with us. It's like, okay. Yeah. I ge I guess. But now he knows Danielle: That's kinda nice. Just crawled right in. But yeah. Catie: he can do it. Danielle: Good luck. Catie: I know. all right. Well I think it's time to get into our biggest update of the last month and a half. Danielle: Yeah, Katie and I are embarking on a new adventure work-wise. So this Catie: Who? Danielle: is my last week with my current company. And Katie is officially Catie: I'm unemployed. No, I wish I was. no, we're self-employed. Danielle: Yeah. Catie: but yeah, time to start a new journey. And let me tell you, like, putting in two two-week notice is like, you forget how like annoying, like, and it can be emotional, I feel like. No matter what. Danielle: let's talk about emotional. I like I was a disaster when I told the team and half the team wasn't even on and I was still crying. Catie: Yeah. Yeah. We yeah, I mean we've worked at the previous company for like eight years, nine years for you probably. Danielle: Yeah. Catie: Well, forever, right? Since you were born basically. And Danielle: The porn. Catie: yeah, I it's like and I remember because and we were just talking about it where like before this job, I had been at like a few different spots. So like, you know, two years, two years here. in a year, that kind of thing. So I wasn't used to it, but I was like okay with it. I was like Danielle: Yeah. Catie: I know what I gotta do. I know the process and that. but yeah, like the first time I put my two week notice in when I was younger, I cried. And I like wanted to leave and hated it. Danielle: Yeah, I've only ever done it like in professional life. I have only done it three times. Like this will be this is my third time. I was at Target for almost I think it was eight years before that. And I was at the bank for a few years before that. And I remember I definitely have I've I've definitely been emotional every time. But for me, it's always like the people like I'm a such a people person. It's like the people and Catie: Totally. Danielle: the memories. And, you know, I feel like we've done both different stages of our careers, but like have done a lot of growing up in this last role. where like it's just and obviously we have good like feelings towards everybody. You know, like the it's not a Catie: It wasn't a bad phone. we weren't fired or we didn't like aggressively quit. It was just time. But I w Danielle: Yeah. It was just time for us. Catie: I was emotional too, like cleaning out my office and stuff. I'm like, I remember being in the like when you do a lot of growing up in a job, it is emotional Danielle: Yeah. Catie: because you think of all the like memories and we both pretty much grew our families during this era of Danielle: Yes. Catie: of life. Like I took a pregnancy test in the bathroom at this office and I was like, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: my God, like that's Weird to think about. I'm just never gonna be here again. Okay. Danielle: And I think you remember those moments exact that's how I f at Target. I took a pregnancy test in the bathroom. I I went to the terrace teeter, Catie: In the middle of work. Yeah. Danielle: that was attached, right? And went down there and took it there because I didn't want anybody at work to see me or know, but then I had to go back to my office. and I remember like that specifically, or like at YPC, like so many things like happened where I can remember distinctly where I was when something was said or something was done. And I don't know, I feel like it's just it was an entire decade almost of our lives and a decade where, like you said, we we grew our families and our careers. But I'm very Catie: You know? Danielle: excited for the next chapter. I'm excited for everyone there, like for what they're doing too. But I'm excited for us to officially be able to like talk about what this transition Catie: I know. I know. Danielle: has. looked like and what we expected, what we didn't expect, all that fun stuff. Catie: Yeah, it's gonna be really fun. But I think already in the last month it brought us on some work trips and everyone that has followed us for a long time knows that I hate work trips and Danielle loves them. But I know what you mean. Yeah. Danielle: I love that. Well, I don't like love them. I do love them. I get energy from other people and I like to travel. But it's it's funny to watch like our routines and how like I'm Katie, we'll go do this, we'll go do that. But I love traveling with you because you're like, I'm not doing that. So then I'm like, great. Then I don't do it either and I am much happier for it. Catie: Well, I've loved the people that we've traveled with recently. Like they're Danielle: Yeah. Catie: amazing vibes. And yeah, it's just nice to like I think we've just hit the like hit the point where it's like you go to these work trips and it depends on what industry people are in and all that. And you like if you're, you know, on the service side or if you're corporate or at an attendee versus a vendor and like there's so many different things of like work trips. But yeah, I mean I just get travel anxiety, I get you know, all of the things. I just it's I I like it. Danielle: But you did really well. Catie: For going to California for the first time, yeah. I think it's a pretty good. Danielle: Like did really well. I went the week that we went to California, I was in Savannah, drove, my phone broke. A friend's phone. This was a nightmare. I drove Catie: This is like we have to tell this story. Danielle: Sunday into Savannah for an event for work. And I drove home on Wednesday morning. I was supposed to drive home Tuesday night, but I was so tired that I was like, I'm not doing this. I'll I'll leave at 5 a.m. Which I did Catie: Yeah. Danielle: leave at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, but my phone broke, like the battery completely went dead, and I don't know how to get Home from Savannah to where I live. So my vent, one of my great friends that has become a good friend through all of this travel. When you travel all the time, the vendors become like family. Luckily, we were sharing a room and she had an extra phone. And she let me drive home with her extra phone so that I wouldn't get lost or stranded. And then I had to fly out on Thursday. Right. We drove flew out on Thursday. So I got home Wednesday, flew out Thursday to California, three hour time difference. We got in at 10 o'clock Cali Catie: Wait. Danielle: time, spoke at 8 a.m. the next day. I was back on a flight at 1243 to go to Florida Catie: The phone at one percent. Danielle: with my phone at one percent. Yes, because it's broke, it was broken. Katie gave me a charger at this point because we found out that my phone could be charged, it just couldn't have a powerful charger. So like all the good chargers you can't use. So an ankler or like a I think that's what like a you know five below version was good for me and the plane was Catie: Yes. Danielle: good for me. So I traveled with that and then I flew to Florida and we spoke I spoke on Saturday and then I flew back on Sun did I fly back on Sunday? Flew back on Sunday. Catie: Yeah. It's a lot of flights. Danielle: Then we my family and I flew out on Thursday for family wedding, flew back Catie: And now you're here. Danielle: on Monday, and now I leave for Houston tomorrow. It's all good in the hood. Catie: Yeah, it's a lot of airplane. I mean, if my phone was broken like that, you know I I would have never got on the flight. I would have canceled. Danielle: Almost didn't, which it's a big deal if I say I'm not gonna get on a flight. I was I can't do this. But I think I was just overall panicking in general at that Catie: Yeah. I Yeah, it was yeah, there's just no way I would have done it. So good for you for being so Danielle: Yep. Yeah, I was Catie: flexible. Danielle: I felt very irresponsible, but also like Catie: Right. Danielle: I had made commitments work wise. So I was like, What choice do I have? let's go. Catie: But yeah, what are you gonna do? Yeah. Yeah. Danielle: And I spent twelve hours on the phone with Verizon, as when in store and it was a nightmare. So I really didn't have a choice. Catie: Yeah. Yeah. I will say going off phones, I paid I realized this month was the first time I've ever paid my cell phone bill in my own with my own money. Danielle: Big girl. Wow. I'm so proud of you. Catie: I I said it out loud the other day. We were talking about somebody asked something and I was like, yeah, and I was like, you know what? It's the first time I ever with my own hard earned money paid my bill. Danielle: I'm really proud of you. You are officially an Catie: So Danielle: adult. Catie: yeah, I'm like, ugh, well, I've always had a social media job and they I've always negotiated my phone being covered and Danielle: My phone was is always been covered, but I've always had a s I used to have a second phone that I cause but I didn't want to do that this time around. Catie: Yeah, I didn't like that. I only had that once and I didn't like it. And it was easier to have everything I'd signed all the paperwork to just have it on my personal. Danielle: Yes, it's way better. Catie: it was way easier. But then before I mean, I went and got my first job where it was covered when I was twenty two and my dad paid for it before then. And then I was Danielle: I g mean, I get it. Catie: like, I've always had like I was on his and then I would just send the money, like it would come to me Danielle: Yeah. Catie: and I'd send it out. Like it wasn't like I put it on my own card. Danielle: You know what? As I talk shit about you, like Catie: You probably didn't either. Danielle: I think I Venmoed. I've Venmoed or paid other people other people for my phone bill. Catie: But you were getting paid for it. Danielle: Yeah. No. Catie: I was like to the point where work was liter work's always just paid my bill or like Danielle: I actually don't know. Catie: the one year that I was at my first job, I was on my dad's plan and I had them like I was sending money for it from work. Danielle: I may have never paid like that way either because my parents I got married when I was twenty six and at my first job my mom's thing was like, Don't pay me. I'm telling dad you're paying me, but put the money away and use it to buy your dress. Catie: There you go. So this is a PSA. Danielle: So I did. Catie: Negotiate when you start new jobs. Negotiate your cell phone. If you use your cell phone at all, you should get it covered. Always negotiate Danielle: And then you don't you can be in your mid mid thirties or forty. Catie: And then you could be like me in your thirties. And technically, we'll be able to write some of it off because write-off. The whole write off situation. so it's free. It's free. Yeah. Danielle: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's gonna be fine. We're w everything's gonna be fine. Just write it off. Like David said, it's fine. Catie: My dad thinks that's the funniest thing that's ever existed. Like talking about write offs Danielle: It is pretty. Catie: and then like hearing that. He's like, Yeah. Danielle: clip because it is like it's very humorous. if you've never been in business before, you're like, it's a write-off. It's a write-off. No. New slash, it's not. Anyway. So much has Catie: Yeah, write offs. Free. Free. all right. Well Danielle: happened. We've just yapped your ears off, but we're excited. It's been a long time. We're back. So Catie: Yeah. We're back. We're gonna keep we're gonna have more guests on. It's gonna be lighter guests through the end of the year, but we are looking for guests starting in Q one and we put a couple feelers out on our Instagram. So check that out. and we'll see you all next time. Time to clock back in. Danielle: Bye.
