Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everyone. Andrew decheco here Eagles beat reporter for insidethe
- 0:13Speaker 1: birds dot Com and it's a special edition of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Checho Deli. And the reason being is because I'm joined
- 0:19Speaker 1: by a twenty twenty five second team All American and
- 0:24Speaker 1: Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. That would be
- 0:26Speaker 1: San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson. Chris, I appreciate you
- 0:30Speaker 1: carving out some time.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yes, certain man, how you doing.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm doing great. So, first and foremost, what has this
- 0:36Speaker 1: experience been like from your perspective?
- 0:39Speaker 3: Yeah, this whole experience has been great, man. Definitely a
- 0:42Speaker 3: dream come true. Obviously, like my whole life, I wanted
- 0:45Speaker 3: to play in the NFL, so you know, this whole
- 0:47Speaker 3: process leading up to us all a part of that.
- 0:49Speaker 3: So I've definitely just been enjoying this process for sure.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Now, I understand your father played a pivotal role in
- 0:55Speaker 1: getting you into the game of football. How did he
- 0:58Speaker 1: influence your plunge into the game.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Like, uh, Like, he didn't really take too much control
- 1:06Speaker 3: in it. It was kind of just like, you know,
- 1:08Speaker 3: we grew up a football family, so he grew up
- 1:10Speaker 3: with TV with the TV on football all the time,
- 1:13Speaker 3: so that's really what I was around, you know, and
- 1:15Speaker 3: he wasn't really like, uh, forcing me to play or
- 1:17Speaker 3: nothing like that, So I just took it slowly.
- 1:20Speaker 2: But you know, my love for the game grew strong
- 1:22Speaker 2: from a young age for sure.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So also him being able, you know, to come home
- 1:26Speaker 3: from work from a long shift and you know, still
- 1:29Speaker 3: go outside and throw the football with me or take
- 1:31Speaker 3: me to practice whatever.
- 1:32Speaker 2: It was so definitely between him and my mom.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, what age did you start playing? Uh?
- 1:38Speaker 2: I started playing officially at seven?
- 1:40Speaker 1: And were you always a corner now league?
- 1:44Speaker 3: I was like, you know, you kind of just it's
- 1:48Speaker 3: just separated by like athletics in little league, so like
- 1:50Speaker 3: the more athletic guys is gonna be the ones with
- 1:52Speaker 3: the ball the most. So I was really playing running
- 1:54Speaker 3: back back then, like running back and linebacker really.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So when you got to elan Or Roosevelt High School,
- 2:01Speaker 1: I understand that you experience a pretty significant growth spurt.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Could you tell that story?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah, well was it? I want to say it was
- 2:10Speaker 3: from my sophomore to my junior year. Like I was
- 2:15Speaker 3: just really small. I don't even know how small I was,
- 2:18Speaker 3: but I was definitely like the five eight, five nine range.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Like during my sophomore year of football, and then came
- 2:27Speaker 3: my senior or my junior season, it kind of got
- 2:30Speaker 3: we got like extra time because of the whole COVID thing.
- 2:33Speaker 2: So our season was like really like a year later.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Almost, So in that extra downtime, I grew to like
- 2:38Speaker 3: pretty much the hot I am now so about I
- 2:41Speaker 3: was about six feet still a little bit underweight, but
- 2:43Speaker 3: I gained a lot of weight too, So definitely just
- 2:48Speaker 3: and that Girlsburg for sure like just changed the way
- 2:50Speaker 3: I was able to play definitely.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And why did you officially transition to playing cornerback?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Oh?
- 2:56Speaker 3: I did that really after after like Little League once
- 3:00Speaker 3: I played like my last year in.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Like of junior high.
- 3:05Speaker 3: My last couple of years when I was in middle school,
- 3:08Speaker 3: I was really playing corner already.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So you go to San Diego State and the first
- 3:13Speaker 1: two years you're not starting, but you're playing a pivotal
- 3:16Speaker 1: role on defense and on special teams. From a mental perspective, Chris,
- 3:21Speaker 1: how did you go about processing everything and staying patient?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Man, I really just took it.
- 3:26Speaker 3: As you know, my job wasn't at that time to
- 3:31Speaker 3: play defense, you know what I mean. So being able
- 3:34Speaker 3: to tell myself that understand. You know, my job for
- 3:36Speaker 3: the team right now is to play special teams. So
- 3:39Speaker 3: I'm gonna focus on that and ball out doing that.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And also while doing that, I'm gonna be locked in
- 3:45Speaker 3: to watching the older guys play, see what they like
- 3:48Speaker 3: to do, see what they're allowed to do, what they
- 3:49Speaker 3: get in trouble doing, and kind of just taking pieces
- 3:53Speaker 3: from their game and adding it to mine. You know,
- 3:55Speaker 3: So special teams. You know, it's only really like a
- 3:58Speaker 3: handful of plays again, so the rest of the game,
- 4:01Speaker 3: I'm just really dialed in watching same thing at practice,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you know, I was getting a solid amount of reps
- 4:06Speaker 3: at practice, but like once we split up into offense
- 4:09Speaker 3: and defense, I was really just watching and you know,
- 4:11Speaker 3: just being able to stay patient, understand that you know,
- 4:14Speaker 3: it's not my time yet, but it will be.
- 4:17Speaker 2: So I was able to sit there and learn.
- 4:19Speaker 1: For sure, now watching your game, it was evident that
- 4:22Speaker 1: you you really took the special teams, You almost embraced it.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Is that fair to say?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah? For sure, Yes, sir, you had.
- 4:29Speaker 1: A block punt in twenty twenty four, I believe, and
- 4:33Speaker 1: so would that be something you'd be welcome to doing?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Sort of moonlighting on special teams at the next level.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah really, Like honestly, coming out of high school, man,
- 4:44Speaker 3: like the whole like energy round special teams is just
- 4:47Speaker 3: like different. You know, Like in high school, if he
- 4:50Speaker 3: was on special teams, you was probably mad about it,
- 4:52Speaker 3: like damn yeah on special teams. But when I went
- 4:56Speaker 3: there to college, I has changed my mindset to like, look,
- 4:59Speaker 3: I want to be able to travel with the team
- 5:00Speaker 3: wherever they go. So whatever I can to do, if
- 5:03Speaker 3: it especially seems, I'm gonna do it. But actually playing
- 5:05Speaker 3: special teams in the college level helped me like learn
- 5:09Speaker 3: and understand how important that that that third of the
- 5:12Speaker 3: game is, you know what I mean, it kind of
- 5:14Speaker 3: goes you know a lot of people, like even like
- 5:17Speaker 3: fans of the game, you know, they don't realize how
- 5:19Speaker 3: important getting a good punt is or getting a good
- 5:21Speaker 3: kick return is until you're actually doing it. So once
- 5:25Speaker 3: I did it my freshman and sophomore year, I understand
- 5:28Speaker 3: how important it was. I'm like, yeah, like I got
- 5:29Speaker 3: to keep doing this, like because I want to be
- 5:31Speaker 3: able to help the team out wherever I can it
- 5:33Speaker 3: as long as I'm healthy enough to do it, I'm
- 5:34Speaker 3: gonna do it now.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Looking back at the start of your career at San
- 5:38Speaker 1: Diego State to the end of it, where do you
- 5:40Speaker 1: feel you showed the most growth in your game.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I probably save my confidence, man for sure.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Obviously with time I grew with my speed, with my strength,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but really just being a confident player, man. And it
- 5:56Speaker 3: really goes for all positions on the field. But I
- 5:58Speaker 3: feel like cornerback, for sure, you gotta have overflowing confidence.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And definitely when I first got on on campus, I
- 6:06Speaker 3: was lacking that a little bit, transitioning from being the
- 6:08Speaker 3: best player on my high school team and now being
- 6:10Speaker 3: a new kid on campus. But definitely being able to
- 6:13Speaker 3: grow into that role and use my confidence in my.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Play for sure that helped me.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Now, defensive backs might be my favorite position to really
- 6:21Speaker 1: watch and focus on. They tend to be on the
- 6:24Speaker 1: chattier side. Chris.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Would you consider yourself as someone who likes to talk
- 6:28Speaker 1: a little bit on the field and and have that swagger?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, man. Like I said, it's a part
- 6:34Speaker 2: of confidence.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Man.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I feel like, you know, I'm not always talking, but
- 6:39Speaker 3: I feel like I talk enough though, and I enjoy
- 6:41Speaker 3: talking too, obviously, you know, I'm a real energetic guy,
- 6:45Speaker 3: and I like to get my energy around to my teammates.
- 6:47Speaker 3: So I'm gonna sure my teammates hear me, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 3: my pop it to the other team. But yeah, man,
- 6:52Speaker 3: I just feel like, like I said, it's just about confidence, man,
- 6:54Speaker 3: being able to pop it to the other team's sideline
- 6:57Speaker 3: and understand.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Like you know, I'm here like gonna have to do
- 7:00Speaker 2: something about it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So I think that's sort of the nature of the position.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You're out there on an island. You have no choice,
- 7:06Speaker 1: but you have to be confident. Is there a receiver
- 7:09Speaker 1: that you can remember that was particularly chatty in any
- 7:12Speaker 1: of your encounters.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Trying to Dan, I don't know.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Not, not really a game. I know in practice we
- 7:25Speaker 3: would go at it though, for sure. So you know,
- 7:27Speaker 3: a lot of guys on the team, like uh, you
- 7:29Speaker 3: know last year, like like Jake Bostick, Dono, like those guys,
- 7:33Speaker 3: they was they would always pop it back and forth
- 7:35Speaker 3: for me in the game. I'm really yeah, a lot
- 7:38Speaker 3: of guys they really didn't say too much. They would
- 7:40Speaker 3: pop it a little bit, but you know I was
- 7:42Speaker 3: I was the main one popping it.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Now, the scheme you played in at San Diego State
- 7:46Speaker 1: had some balance man in zone one. Do you have
- 7:49Speaker 1: a preference between the two and which man or zone?
- 7:54Speaker 1: How does that accentuate your skill set in either or?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I really don't have a preference to either or man.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I feel like it's all based on another team, like
- 8:04Speaker 3: is really playing chess man, some downs is gonna be
- 8:06Speaker 3: better for zone and some downs gonna be better for man.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So I don't really have a preference.
- 8:10Speaker 3: But with our defense, man, I just liked that we
- 8:14Speaker 3: ran a lot of quarters last year, so there's a
- 8:17Speaker 3: lot of checks in that, a lot of zone checks,
- 8:19Speaker 3: a lot of man checks, you know what I mean.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So our base call, we would call a quarter's call,
- 8:23Speaker 3: and you know, have to field this is playing man,
- 8:25Speaker 3: have to field playing zone. And I just like being
- 8:27Speaker 3: able to be like versatile with it so that a
- 8:30Speaker 3: quarterback can't be dialed in on us, the receivers can't
- 8:32Speaker 3: be dialed in on our techniques and stuff like that.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Your ball skills are evident. So you had five interceptions
- 8:38Speaker 1: over the past two seasons, I believe nine passes defended, Chris,
- 8:42Speaker 1: What do you do to really hone in and have
- 8:45Speaker 1: that those ball skills out in? What do you do
- 8:47Speaker 1: off the field to do that.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly, man, I feel like I'm blessed to be
- 8:51Speaker 3: able to have that natural ball skills where maybe they
- 8:55Speaker 3: weren't natural at some point, but I feel like, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 3: like I said, like I would beg my dad as
- 8:59Speaker 3: soon as he at home from a long shift, I
- 9:01Speaker 3: work to go play catch outside for an hour, And
- 9:03Speaker 3: I feel like stuff like that just you know, strengthen
- 9:06Speaker 3: my hand eye coordination, you know, like unknowingly, like I
- 9:08Speaker 3: wouldn't even training it.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm just playing catch with my dad.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Something that I also feel like helping my my hand
- 9:14Speaker 3: eye coordination too, is that like me and my dad
- 9:16Speaker 3: used to throw the baseball too, so obviously you know
- 9:19Speaker 3: you got to match your hand to the ball and
- 9:21Speaker 3: a lot smaller than a football. So just doing stuff
- 9:24Speaker 3: like that obviously, you know, every day I'm out on
- 9:26Speaker 3: the field, we incorporate a ball, whether it's going to
- 9:29Speaker 3: track it down the field or just running through catching it.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And so you know, those everyday reps are obviously just
- 9:34Speaker 3: gonna get you more comfortable catching the ball.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Absolutely, and your I discipline, You're able to play with
- 9:39Speaker 1: anticipation and instincts when it comes to the film study.
- 9:43Speaker 1: What's your approach to that?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, man, just being thorough.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I feel like, you know, we do a great job
- 9:49Speaker 3: in a building already game planning for our opponent.
- 9:52Speaker 2: But you know, me like being you know the place
- 9:55Speaker 2: I want to get to. Man, it just requires extra effort.
- 9:59Speaker 3: So you know, after all that, I'm really gonna end
- 10:01Speaker 3: up rewatching it again, just you know, double check and
- 10:04Speaker 3: make sure I didn't miss none, because you know, in
- 10:06Speaker 3: the meeting room sometime, you know we might be in
- 10:08Speaker 3: the rush. We got to get out to the field,
- 10:10Speaker 3: So you know, just like to be throwing that stuff
- 10:12Speaker 3: and don't miss anything, you know, be sure to see
- 10:15Speaker 3: all the all the small details and stuff like that.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I feel like that helps me, you know, be a
- 10:19Speaker 3: step ahead of my opponent come game day.
- 10:22Speaker 1: In the world of college football, there's typically a lot
- 10:24Speaker 1: of movement. The two part question one did you ever
- 10:27Speaker 1: consider entering the transfer portal and what compelled you to
- 10:32Speaker 1: stay at San Diego State all four years?
- 10:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely thought about entering the portal, man, but
- 10:39Speaker 3: you know, when the time came, I just felt like
- 10:41Speaker 3: my best decision was to stay. I felt like I've
- 10:44Speaker 3: known a lot of guys who decided to transfer, and
- 10:47Speaker 3: you know, it worked out for him, but I also
- 10:48Speaker 3: know a lot of guys who didn't work out for
- 10:51Speaker 3: and you know, it's really.
- 10:51Speaker 2: A toss up.
- 10:53Speaker 3: And you know, at that time, I just felt like
- 10:56Speaker 3: I wasn't willing to take a risk. Man, Like my
- 10:58Speaker 3: main goal, like I said when we first got on here,
- 11:00Speaker 3: my dream was to get to the NFL. So you know,
- 11:02Speaker 3: I know I know enough guys who transferred out and
- 11:05Speaker 3: you know, the grass wasn't greener. And you know now
- 11:08Speaker 3: now today, you know they they're not pursuing their dreams
- 11:11Speaker 3: no more.
- 11:11Speaker 2: So I'm like, you know what, like, I'm gonna stay here.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I'm gonna stay down, stay where I'm at, stay where
- 11:16Speaker 3: I know what I'm gonna do. And so you know,
- 11:17Speaker 3: I'm definitely happy with that decision.
- 11:20Speaker 1: In your words, Chris, what makes you the top cornerback
- 11:23Speaker 1: in this class?
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I just feel like I'm relentless man, you know, uh,
- 11:27Speaker 3: not to say nobody else in the classes, but I
- 11:29Speaker 3: just feel like, you know, my work ethic is different
- 11:31Speaker 3: and my values are different as well. Like we ain't
- 11:33Speaker 3: here talking about special teams, how important that is to
- 11:36Speaker 3: to me? You know, just uh, I feel like that.
- 11:39Speaker 3: That just shows like like like how I play. You know,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I'm a relentless ball player, whether it's you know, going
- 11:43Speaker 3: down on punt to make a tackle or you know,
- 11:46Speaker 3: if I got to fit the run up on a
- 11:48Speaker 3: big running back to you know, get get a third
- 11:50Speaker 3: down stop. Like whatever it is, whatever I gotta do,
- 11:52Speaker 3: I'm willing to do it, and I'm happy to do it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Who are some NFL cornerbacks that you watched and really
- 11:59Speaker 1: have taken something from their game?
- 12:01Speaker 4: Uh?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously, Like like guy like Pastor Tam for sure,
- 12:04Speaker 3: I'll try to take as much from his game as
- 12:06Speaker 3: I came with him, you know, being at the top
- 12:08Speaker 3: right now.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Really another guy like to watch.
- 12:10Speaker 3: His JC horn too, So between the two of those guys,
- 12:13Speaker 3: for sure try to take take pieces from their games.
- 12:17Speaker 1: So I feel I know which way you're laning here.
- 12:19Speaker 1: But this is a question that's going to require a
- 12:21Speaker 1: little bit of thinking creating the perfect cornerback. I'm talking
- 12:26Speaker 1: football intellect, mind, footwork, and ball skills. What would you
- 12:31Speaker 1: take from each cornerback to make the ultimately the best corner.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I probably would say like like size for sure,
- 12:41Speaker 2: like size and speed.
- 12:42Speaker 3: A guy like I would say like Tarik Wooland for sure,
- 12:45Speaker 3: like he's like huge and he could run. You know,
- 12:47Speaker 3: it don't get much better than that footwork. I'll probably
- 12:51Speaker 3: go with Pat with his footwork, you know, whether he's
- 12:54Speaker 3: impressed or off.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And then I definitely say ball skills.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I like J C.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Horn ball skills for sure.
- 13:00Speaker 1: You mentioned Rick Wohen. Is he a corner that you
- 13:02Speaker 1: watch a little bit.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit.
- 13:04Speaker 3: You know, I'm not, you know, being a corner myself,
- 13:06Speaker 3: I'm always died in at different guys, Like I like
- 13:09Speaker 3: to watch Queen All a lot, you know, especially because
- 13:11Speaker 3: he's from a small school as well, just kind of
- 13:14Speaker 3: like I watch his transition to the NFL, you know,
- 13:17Speaker 3: me being from a smaller school, like obviously I was
- 13:19Speaker 3: rooting for him. But yeah, being a corner myself, I
- 13:23Speaker 3: just watch all kinds of football. Like I'm really a
- 13:25Speaker 3: football fan first, so I'm just always watching football and
- 13:29Speaker 3: always you know, just seeing who's on the field.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Hey, Philly fans. Game day is stressful enough, parking, traffic,
- 13:36Speaker 4: long lines, We've all been there. But when it comes

- 14:31Speaker 1: Have you leaned on anyone in particular, whether it be
- 14:34Speaker 1: already at the NFL level, or a coach or anyone
- 14:38Speaker 1: a parent to help get you through this process or
- 14:41Speaker 1: maybe what's to expect down the line?
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:44Speaker 3: Really, just you know, obviously my agents, some of the
- 14:48Speaker 3: guys that that's in my agency, and then I know
- 14:51Speaker 3: a couple guys in the NFL that came to San
- 14:54Speaker 3: Diego State.
- 14:55Speaker 2: So like I talked to Darren Hall, I talk to
- 14:58Speaker 2: Pat mcmo.
- 14:59Speaker 3: As you know, up of guys just in the league,
- 15:01Speaker 3: you know that went through the drive process, the rookie
- 15:04Speaker 3: minie camp, you know, just talking to them and picking
- 15:07Speaker 3: their brains on you know, what they thought about it.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Any tips and advice they could give me? So for sure, Yeah,
- 15:13Speaker 2: what's your why?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Chris?
- 15:16Speaker 2: My why?
- 15:17Speaker 3: Man?
- 15:17Speaker 2: It really just comes down to, like the competition within myself.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Man, Like I feel like, you know, I'm a perfectionist
- 15:23Speaker 3: at heart, and you know my.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Why is to is to get as close to there
- 15:27Speaker 2: as possible.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Like I know, nobody could be perfect, you know what
- 15:30Speaker 3: I mean, but you could get close to it and
- 15:33Speaker 3: you could strive to be really close to it.
- 15:34Speaker 2: So I feel like, you know, in my mind, I'm
- 15:37Speaker 2: always creating a new goal for myself.
- 15:39Speaker 3: You know, Like last season my goal was to you know,
- 15:42Speaker 3: be like what's to end, what's to be able to
- 15:45Speaker 3: be in this draft class?
- 15:46Speaker 2: Like I didn't even.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Have goals as far as like you know, with what
- 15:49Speaker 3: I did this year, But I feel like I just
- 15:51Speaker 3: smashed those goals and you know it's not over it though,
- 15:54Speaker 3: Like I made new goals for myself, and you know,
- 15:56Speaker 3: next year I might have new goals for myself, and
- 15:58Speaker 3: you know, just to keep improving and keep proving myself
- 16:01Speaker 3: right for sure. Like, like I said, confidence is a
- 16:04Speaker 3: big part of my game. So I'm definitely confident in
- 16:06Speaker 3: my abilities. But I got to go out there and
- 16:08Speaker 3: improved every day.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Now. Are you someone who writes down your goals or
- 16:12Speaker 1: are they kind of in your mind?
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm more like a mental note guy.
- 16:18Speaker 3: I've bring down a few of them, but like I
- 16:20Speaker 3: just like knowing and thinking thinking about in the back
- 16:22Speaker 3: of my head for sure.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Looking back on your college career, what game do you
- 16:27Speaker 1: feel best represents who you are as a player.
- 16:31Speaker 2: My college career, I would probably say.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Oh, man, that's a horrid one. I think Kyle was
- 16:43Speaker 3: a pretty good game for me this year. You know,
- 16:46Speaker 3: obviously I had to pick in that game. But overall,
- 16:48Speaker 3: I feel like I cover well, I tackle really well.
- 16:54Speaker 3: I want to say I ran down there, I'm punk
- 16:56Speaker 3: a couple of times, but like, I just feel like,
- 16:58Speaker 3: you know, it shows all aspects of game.
- 17:00Speaker 2: You know.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I don't have a specific game where I'm like, oh,
- 17:03Speaker 3: like watch this game for coverage or oh I tackle good.
- 17:05Speaker 3: This game was like, nah, I felt like that was
- 17:07Speaker 3: a was a pretty complete game by me. I gave
- 17:09Speaker 3: up a couple of catches, but you know, it is
- 17:12Speaker 3: what it is. But like, like I said, I played
- 17:14Speaker 3: some good. I played good in coverage, I tackled really well,
- 17:16Speaker 3: and I showed up on special teams as well. I
- 17:19Speaker 3: feel like that just describes me as as a player.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Now, being that this is an Eagles podcast, I must
- 17:24Speaker 1: ask Chris, have you met with the Eagles?
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yes? Sir?
- 17:28Speaker 1: Was it a thirty visit?
- 17:30Speaker 2: Nah? No, sir?
- 17:32Speaker 1: Did you meet with them virtually?
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah? I met with him on the zoom.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I want to say, yeah, I don't remember when it was,
- 17:41Speaker 3: but I met with him for sure twice.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I want to say, do you remember if you spoke
- 17:46Speaker 1: to either Joe Casper or cornerbacks coach Roy Anderson.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I talked to Joe Casper and then I talked to.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You know, I can't remember who the other one was,
- 17:58Speaker 3: but I talked to two different people on on those
- 18:00Speaker 3: two zooms.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Cool. Have you given any thought to what it's gonna
- 18:04Speaker 1: be like when you hear a name called on Draft night? Not?
- 18:07Speaker 2: Really?
- 18:07Speaker 3: Man Like, I don't know what emotions I'm an experience obviously.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Like I keep telling myself, like, you know, I'm not
- 18:13Speaker 3: gonna get emotional, but you know, in a moment, you
- 18:16Speaker 3: never know, you never know what I'm gonna.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Be feeling like. So I'm definitely just excited.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Man.
- 18:20Speaker 3: You know the time is coming down to hear my
- 18:23Speaker 3: name potentially called, and you know it's just it's gonna
- 18:28Speaker 3: be a dream come true for sure.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Now, will you be attending the draft?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Nah, I'm gonna just be at home at home with
- 18:34Speaker 2: my family chilling.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, Chris, I really appreciate you carving out some
- 18:40Speaker 1: time and talking with me about your your football experience,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and I wish you nothing but the best.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yes, sir, I appreciate you, man. I appreciate you having
- 18:47Speaker 2: me on here.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Absolutely well for Chris Johnson, I'm Andrew de Checko. Thanks
- 18:51Speaker 1: for tuning into a special edition of the check O
