[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's going to move the needle for you.
• 0:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that you will share this thing out.

• 0:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: Amen.
• 0:42
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk a little bit today about.
• 0:47
  [SPEAKER_00]: focus.
• 0:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to water down where I am with this.
• 0:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But have you ever found yourself spinning your wheels, trying to strengthen an area where you are weak, forgetting that real growth happens oftentimes when I build on areas that I'm strong in.
• 1:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: Here
• 1:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Because some areas that we're weak in and let me give an example.
• 1:24
[SPEAKER_00]: And this may be an extreme example and I get if you may have other thoughts about it.
• 1:28
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we in fact comment if you have a thought about what it is.
• 1:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a lot to share if somebody.
• 1:35
[SPEAKER_00]: That's you should kill O'Neill anybody know and remember to kill O'Neill when he played basketball.
• 1:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Some of you much younger, you only know Shaquille O'Neill as an analyst on T and T, right?
• 1:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So because he's been on that about 20 years now.
• 1:49
[SPEAKER_00]: He's by the NBA, I want to say close to 20 years, right?
• 1:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And so Shaquille O'Neill was not a great free throw shooter doing his time in the NBA.
• 2:03
[SPEAKER_00]: And he spent thousands of dollars on extra coaching.
• 2:07
[SPEAKER_00]: He spent thousands of dollars on different things to try and tweak his technique and try and get him to be a better free throw shooter, but it just wasn't happening.
• 2:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what his career average is, but it's horrible.
• 2:24
[SPEAKER_00]: right and it seemed as if as he were as he was you know trying to gain more momentum with his free throw shooting he was getting more out of shape and not focusing on and capitalizing on what his strength was and that was heightened size getting down low on the paint dunking on people
• 2:56
[SPEAKER_00]: trying to work on things that don't move and won't move the needle and we've spent a few hours and a little time on the stuff that we've been gifted with that if we would just tweak and lean into it, it would make a great difference in our lives.
• 3:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Oftentimes, and I get, I get, we want to be great, great at all things, but it's just not our reality.
• 3:32
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not our reality that we can become great at everything.
• 3:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we can become good and great at multiple things, but you
• 3:41
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think God designed it that way.
• 3:42
[SPEAKER_00]: That you and I, because as we live in our community, man, isn't it great when we live in a community with people and operating community with people and somebody may be good with this and somebody may be good with something else and somebody may be good with something else and we kind of work together to make sure that we solve the problems in the issues at hand.
• 4:02
[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, it's not one person that we're going to do everything, but we all sharing the load,
• 4:14
[SPEAKER_00]: it's amazing that everybody can't see who would be in the audience hearing the words of the singer right being blessed and being moved by the words that were coming from the stage right it's a great thing that we all aren't good at public speaking we're all aren't good at cooking we're all aren't good at the same thing again you can be good and I I'm almost don't want to admit
• 4:44
[SPEAKER_00]: especially especially in a space of public speaking and preaching.
• 4:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I used to be like man, how did you get the gift of of speaking and singing?
• 4:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm jealous of you, right?
• 4:53
  [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
• 4:55
  [SPEAKER_00]: Just jokingly.
• 4:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, well, here it is.
• 5:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to encourage you to stop being upset, stop comparing yourself to other people who have different gifts,
• 5:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I really want to encourage you to own what you give to the end.
• 5:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sometimes we're so busy trying to develop something else that we neglect.
• 5:25
[SPEAKER_00]: The very thing that has been given to us that is approached to bless the world.
• 5:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying, I'm not talking about skills, right?
• 5:36
[SPEAKER_00]: We can develop skills, people can learn how to do certain things, people can learn how to work on, computers, people can go to trays, go learn how to be a plumber.
• 5:49
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not talking about skills, we can learn skills.
• 5:53
[SPEAKER_00]: We can get certified in areas where we can.
• 5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: learn how to work and people go to school become medical assistants and all kinds of things people do.
• 6:07
  [SPEAKER_00]: They develop a skill.
• 6:10
[SPEAKER_00]: By asking people who even develop a skill, they're still not their gift.
• 6:15
  [SPEAKER_00]: They make sense?
• 6:17
[SPEAKER_00]: By asking people to develop a skill, right?
• 6:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I got buddies right now who develop the skill of they work in AI automation, but their gift is still
• 6:27
  [SPEAKER_00]: preaching and speaking.
• 6:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's not they got a new skill.
• 6:32
[SPEAKER_00]: But the gift don't neglect the gift that's you're going to sharpen and become good at and become better at, right?
• 6:38
[SPEAKER_00]: We can develop a skill.
• 6:41
[SPEAKER_00]: But I want you to start focusing on the thing that you've been gifted to do that you're we cut listen sometimes people and I get it don't like what they're good at.
• 6:58
[SPEAKER_00]: There was these things like that.
• 7:01
[SPEAKER_00]: So they're in bearish and I understand sometimes people get worn down in their area of giftedness.
• 7:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Especially people who may have had that gift for quite some time that people noticed.
• 7:19
[SPEAKER_00]: If they haven't gift their whole life, but you've had somebody have a gift that people took advantage of, I get it.
• 7:28
[SPEAKER_00]: mm-hmm and you don't want to lean into that gift because I don't want to say people exploit the gift but they use it for they try to use you and your gift for the wrong reasons and so some people have turned a deaf ear or they've turned a blind eye or they've turned the other way because hey if I get better at that thing than I'm good at how much more are people going to try to use me for that gift you got to learn
• 7:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is what I've had to learn because I think that I've been given a gift of speaking, but I can't speak at every function all the time and for everybody.
• 8:16
  [SPEAKER_00]: I really became free.
• 8:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I really learned how to walk in freedom when I learned how to just say, no.
• 8:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just because I can do it doesn't mean I have to do it all the time, but I have to do it in this particular space that I'm going to have to do it for this particular group.
• 8:39
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 8:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do I pray for discernment?
• 8:42
  [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
• 8:45
[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes, you know, God is so good that I can see abuse coming from a mile away, like you just trying to use and abuse my gift.
• 8:53
  [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm good.
• 8:56
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm good on that.
• 8:57
  [SPEAKER_00]: But for you who
• 9:00
[SPEAKER_00]: who feel like your gift is a gift and a curse.
• 9:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just, people that I've talked to have said, they feel like it's a curse because people only like you because of your gift.
• 9:16
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's how you feel.
• 9:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Or you feel like if you didn't have the gift, you wouldn't get a certain kind of attention so it's a gift and a curse for you and your mind.
• 9:28
  [SPEAKER_00]: If I didn't have this gift, I wouldn't be.
• 9:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And you might be right.
• 9:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't know certain people without the gift of public speaking.
• 9:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I've had to learn how to accept that.
• 9:47
[SPEAKER_00]: That, that, hey, listen, there are some people that, yes, I rub shoulders with, there are some people that talk to me, there are some people that I've met on my journey and it's only because of the fact that I had a microphone in my hand and that's okay.
• 10:09
[SPEAKER_00]: because I've learned how to be a steward of my gift.
• 10:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I've learned how to steward even relationships that have been built because of my gift.
• 10:21
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you at some at one point in time, and I'll even use a crazy illustration of, there were times in my life where I would like, I was, no, there were certain people, certain girls I would like.
• 10:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And they wouldn't give me the time of day.
• 10:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And then years later, they may have heard me deliver a message or deliver a speech in there.
• 10:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, and all of a sudden, what's your phone number?
• 10:45
  [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
• 10:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that you were doing this.
• 10:48
[SPEAKER_00]: You have this gift and that gift.
• 10:50
  [SPEAKER_00]: And now, it's cool.
• 10:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm not gonna be mean about it, but now.
• 10:59
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I see why you're saying what you're saying, and now I don't get down like that.
• 11:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: No.
• 11:08
[SPEAKER_00]: See what happens is, as you are focused on strengthening where you're strong and strengthening your gifts and becoming better, if you don't use it, you might lose it, right?
• 11:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And as you're using it, certainly, you cannot control this.
• 11:34
[SPEAKER_00]: But the wrong people are going to hear your gift.
• 11:37
  [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be...
• 11:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying here, your gift may be something that's behind the scenes, media, computers, something that nobody can readily see, see with your, you're not up front, you're not on a stage but you still got gifts.
• 11:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And since some people find about, found out about your gifts, even if they're behind the scenes and if they're off camera, they get the wrong impression.
• 12:12
[SPEAKER_00]: to manage the expectations of what you have to offer.
• 12:18
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's on you.
• 12:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That is not on now.
• 12:20
[SPEAKER_00]: That is completely on you.
• 12:23
[SPEAKER_00]: So the power is back in your hands.
• 12:27
[SPEAKER_00]: It is complete and completely up to you to manage.
• 12:33
[SPEAKER_00]: What you've been blessed with, manage people's expectations of what you're going to do with that gift,
• 12:45
[SPEAKER_00]: So, I hope today you've learned that there's power in, of course, knowing your gifts, knowing your areas of strength, and there's nothing wrong with sharpening those tools in those areas for those gifts, not their only.
• 13:14
[SPEAKER_00]: help make them stronger than to reach more people.
• 13:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Know that you want to attract folk that don't belong in your space and it's up to you to get them out of there.
• 13:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, so thank you for your gift.
• 13:34
[SPEAKER_00]: use your gift, don't shy away from your gift, strengthen your gift and become everything that you will born to be sure this out with somebody who's struggling with their gift, share this out to somebody who's struggling with accepting what they've been blessed to bless the world with and hopefully this will give them the freedom that they need to walk in purpose and to walk in power.
• 13:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Until next time, keep going, keep growing and keep going.
• 14:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: Take care.
