- 1:26Let me know what you want to talk about because that's what
- 1:28we do here. Rocket metal news.
- 1:30This is probably your first time seeing us.
- 1:32We always have our everydayers and our real ones.
- 1:35But just in case this is your first time here, feel free to
- 1:39give us a like and sub if you like what you hear and see.
- 1:43And if you don't, that's cool too.
- 1:47Face my fair share of hit talking negative comments all
- 1:52the time. And you know, it's just par for
- 1:56the course when you are an online person.
- 2:00Feel bad for the terminally online.
- 2:02You got to get out and touch some grass and and live your
- 2:04life a little bit. But here we are once again at
- 2:07the end of another long week. So thanks for being here.
- 2:11Let us do the damn thing. Time.
- 2:17As usual, we start with the announcements.
- 2:21Get a little slideshow here in the top corner, everybody.
- 2:25The best experience for this show is always Facebook, Twitch,
- 2:29YouTube and Instagram. We're also hanging out on
- 2:31TikTok. Nerdorious KM is here.
- 2:36Feel free to again drop a comment.
- 2:38Royal Faith is also passed by. Hello.
- 2:48Good stuff, good stuff. What a crazy time we're living
- 2:52in. So as usual, we start with the
- 2:54announcements and this is usually on a round up of some
- 2:58current events, recent deaths and birthdays, historical metal
- 3:03albums out at this time. It's, you know, metal
- 3:07diversities, if you will. Yep.
- 3:10Thanks so much, Royal Faith. What are you getting for dinner
- 3:13or breakfast or wherever you are right now?
- 3:16First meal of the day, last meal of the day, What do you get?
- 3:18What are you having? Most people have come here
- 3:22through YouTube. So we did hit some milestones
- 3:25recently on the tube of You. 1.6 million views and 6000 Subs.
- 3:33Nothing to sneeze at. We're not the biggest on the
- 3:35web, but we're not the biggest of what we do, but that is what
- 3:40we do. It's up.
- 3:40Patricia's here also. Good to see you.
- 3:44Good to see everybody tuning in. If you follow us, we'll follow
- 3:48you back. So all y'all on YouTube and
- 3:51Twitch and Facebook and Instagram, anybody.
- 3:54It's gotten kind of a decent profile, but we can follow back.
- 3:57We try to sad stuff this week. We did lose some great ones in
- 4:03the world. Dave Roach of Junkyard, probably
- 4:06one of the most underrated bands ever, passed away.
- 4:09He was the lead vocalist, had been ill for some time,
- 4:12apparently married his sweetheart last week and then
- 4:16died. Very sad I didn't have a picture
- 4:20handy, but I know people are mourning the loss of Dave
- 4:23McKenna, who's better known as a podcaster now, but he was a
- 4:27killer rock and metal drummer for a long time.
- 4:30Super sad to hear about that also.
- 4:33And then celebrating birthdays this week we had Max Cavallera,
- 4:39Cavallera and founded Sepultura and go Ahead and Die and Kill or
- 4:43Be Killed and eight, you know, Nail Bomb is back.
- 4:46All these bands. Max is great.
- 4:48We have interviewed Max the most times on our YouTube and podcast
- 4:52than anybody else. Just burgers and fries.
- 4:54Royal faith. Well, you know, you can't go
- 4:56wrong with some good burgers and fries.
- 4:58Jed is here. Enter Sandman is here.
- 5:02Scratch your brain is here. D good to see you all.
- 5:08Of course, Papa Hen's birthday was this week, James Hetfield
- 5:11and Metallica. We have some Metallica news
- 5:13later in the show. Always celebrating a birthday as
- 5:18it should be for Papa Hat. Angry Anderson of Rose Tattoo
- 5:23turned 78 this week. Jennifer Finchabel, 7,
- 5:27celebrated a birthday this week. We saw her last year twice in
- 5:32the last couple of years but last year at No Values Fest
- 5:35which did not come back this year.
- 5:36But that shot is by Omar Cordy the co-owner.
- 5:40Ghost called my buddy also also Pat smear of Nirvana and Foo
- 5:47Fighters fame and also the germs legendarily celebrated a
- 5:51birthday this week. Bruce Dickinson's birthday is
- 5:56today is a lot of birthdays for as we record this today, Jamie
- 6:00Jost of Hatebreed and I guess now SOD Also Eddie Ojeda from
- 6:07Twisted Sisters birthdays this week.
- 6:13Who else? Who else?
- 6:15So many, so many people celebrating births mentioned
- 6:20Bruce. There's Bruce again.
- 6:22Danny Schuler of Biohazard's birthday is also today.
- 6:25He's kind of in the background of this photo.
- 6:27Another OJC picks masterwork. Here's Aika Topenan of
- 6:32Apocalyptica, who celebrated a birthday this week and also now
- 6:39a rock singer. But Vera Formiga, you know her
- 6:42best as an actress from The Departed and the Many Saints of
- 6:45Newark and other things. She's got a new band called the
- 6:48Yagas, where she does like sort of heavy rock.
- 6:51And she celebrated her birthday this week.
- 6:53So shout out to her. Of course, this week is the
- 6:56anniversary of the passing of the great Adam Yok, MCA of the
- 7:00Beastie Boys. Very sad.
- 7:02Hard to believe that it is 13 years since he passed away.
- 7:06Fuck, very sad. I'm from New York and I love the
- 7:10beasties. And also celebrating.
- 7:15Kind of a death adversary. I probably should do these all
- 7:17at the beginning and then do the birthdays.
- 7:20Elliot Smith would have had a birthday this week.
- 7:22The great singer-songwriter, and of course one of my personal
- 7:25heroes. Very complicated but brilliant.
- 7:28Andy Warhol was born this week in history, so lots to unpack in
- 7:34terms of some historical metal albums that came out at this
- 7:38time. Testament practice what you
- 7:43preach. There was some debate about what
- 7:47the date actually is that the record came out, but I believe
- 7:49it is actually August 8th, which will be tomorrow as we record
- 7:53this on Thursday night. Fear Factory dropped the
- 7:56Bangaroa record 4-5 years ago. This is their last record
- 7:59technically now. Genesis Onslaught.
- 8:03Good record here from them. Dismember at classic 30th
- 8:08anniversary of this great Dismember death metal album.
- 8:12Krypta's last record, Shades of Sorrow.
- 8:14They're working on a new record now.
- 8:16Very excited about that Carnifex slow death album.
- 8:20This is almost 20 years old. Be 20 years old next year. 19
- 8:24years old for this album. Dying Fetus.
- 8:28Purification to violence, the killer, Always a killer time.
- 8:32Dying Fetus. One of the best, most heaviest
- 8:34bands ever. I'm a huge fan.
- 8:37This is probably why I don't have more friends.
- 8:40Black Sabbath's Tear is 35 years old this week.
- 8:45Wow. And wow.
- 8:48Not a great record. Meshuga's Nothing album,
- 8:51arguably their best record. To some people it is pretty
- 8:56unbelievable and great. You should go check it out.
- 9:00Amana Mart's last album, The Great Heathen Army.
- 9:03Amana Mart is on tour right now. We'll talk about them in a few
- 9:05minutes. And that is all the
- 9:09announcements. This is the part of the show
- 9:11where we plug ourselves a little bit.
- 9:14You know we sell some advertising and we have some
- 9:18affiliate partners, but we are not corporate backed.
- 9:21So if you want to give us a tip, we always appreciate it and I
- 9:25always put up the price menu here whenever I do a live stream
- 9:29or I do a any kind of a show. What's this up in the comments
- 9:37here so you can see here's our tip menu.
- 9:42I'm sorry for everybody on TikTok.
- 9:44If you want to check this out, you got to come over to
- 9:45Instagram or YouTube, but someday we'll get to TikTok in
- 9:50here. Kombucha is here.
- 9:52Bells ringing is here. System of a Down.
- 9:57Super fan. We're super fans of System of a
- 9:59Down too. A lot of wild and wooly stuff
- 10:05going on with that band lately. Just just kind of wild you want
- 10:11to check out. Every day we update our link
- 10:13tree, which has all our current stories as well as, of course,
- 10:16our website, postcodename.com. But here's where you can find
- 10:20all our stuff and tip us as well.
- 10:22And I'll just have the cash App square here if anybody wants to
- 10:26make a donation. Gary is here.
- 10:27What's up? Gary?
- 10:28Good to see you. Jorge is here now.
- 10:33Clay is here. What up?
- 10:34What up? Thanks for being here.
- 10:35Thanks for passing by. We appreciate you all see what
- 10:39else? All right, so I'll bring it back
- 10:41to me and then it's it's time for the features.
- 10:48This is stuff that we did this week we would like to highlight
- 10:51for you. I did a live stream last night.
- 10:55The audio was kind of Foo bar. So I'm going to re record this
- 10:59audio only for podcasts, but we were talking about Spotify being
- 11:03at a tipping point for bands and fans of Wolves is here.
- 11:06What's up? Whoops.
- 11:07Nana's also here. So you know, a lot of bands are
- 11:11leaving Spotify. They don't like Spotify in the
- 11:141st place and then they find the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Eck, to
- 11:18be an objectionable cock knocker.
- 11:20And so, you know, just super interesting and like, what other
- 11:25options do bands and artists and labels have besides Spotify and
- 11:30how to really view Spotify correctly, as well as what other
- 11:36platforms are out there for listeners and fans.
- 11:38I know of Nick from the Glacial Musical podcast.
- 11:41He only listens to his vinyl collection and CDs in his car.
- 11:45He really doesn't hear music other places except concerts.
- 11:49I use a variety of things, including Spotify begrudgingly,
- 11:53but I, I have to because the whole music industry is kind of
- 11:56baked into Spotify now. So anyway, that was a fun topic.
- 11:59We had a very lively live discussion about this and then,
- 12:04you know, I'll re record it so people can get the whole thing
- 12:09in in this audio is FUBAR, like the whole first half
- 12:12unfortunately. Let's try to do a good job here.
- 12:19Also. Also this week we ran our
- 12:21interview with Barba Kennon of Umlaut.
- 12:26Maybe you're not familiar with the band Umlaut, but Bar was a
- 12:30Co founding member of Mr. Bungle and Umlaut is like the spiritual
- 12:34successor to the 90s Mr. Bungle, Disco Volante and California and
- 12:40stuff like that. So definitely worth checking out
- 12:43that interview. Tom Osman, who's our managing
- 12:46editor and runs our reviews team also chips in and does some
- 12:49interviews and he was fantastic. This is a great interview worth
- 12:52checking out. Also this week I interviewed and
- 12:56ran our interview with Brendan from The Nocturnal Affair.
- 12:59They're currently on tour supporting Drowning Pool and
- 13:01Wednesday 13 across Europe. You definitely want to check
- 13:04them out if you can. Sort of a Type O Negative, but
- 13:07heavier and thrashier. Pretty cool.
- 13:10Good band and I had a great chat with this guy.
- 13:14Also. Recent interviews include the
- 13:16band Failure. Their new documentary Every Time
- 13:19You Lose Your Mind is out now. You can watch it on Disney and
- 13:22Hulu, Disney Plus and Hulu. And I talked to Ken Andrews
- 13:26about the band. They are working on a new album.
- 13:28So I'm very excited about that for next year.
- 13:31Other recent interviews were included Chris Caffrey, you know
- 13:35him best from Sabotage, but also trans-siberian orchestra.
- 13:38This interview surprised me with how many people checked it out
- 13:42and commented on it and then blew it up, which I was really
- 13:45happy about. Chris, I know for a long time we
- 13:48see used to see each other a lot when I lived in New York and now
- 13:50I live in California. But big crisp fan and he's been
- 13:54celebrating his solo career, which is also full of bangers.
- 13:59His original album, The Music Man came out 20 years ago and he
- 14:02re released it with re recordings and extra stuff and
- 14:05demos and cool things that you can also check out.
- 14:09And and then also recently, if you were a huge fan of Guns and
- 14:12Roses and 80s glam rock and hair metal, you want to check out my
- 14:16interview with Alan Niven. Who is Alan Niven?
- 14:18Alan Niven manage Guns and Roses through Appetite for Destruction
- 14:23all the way up to oh the the usual Illusion albums.
- 14:28He broke Great White as a big band.
- 14:31The reason these bands are household names is Alan.
- 14:33He's a songwriter, he's a producer, he was a video
- 14:36director. He did everything and he kept
- 14:38these guys alive even when they were like had a death wish with
- 14:42drugs and alcohol and stuff. So Alan, super interesting.
- 14:45His new book, Sound and Fury is out now.
- 14:47You want to definitely pick that up from Simon and Schuster
- 14:50books. Just to remind you, you know, we
- 14:55have a podcast. This show will be a podcast
- 14:58also. Also, I have the other podcast
- 15:01that I'm part of, the Glacially Musical podcast.
- 15:02We have a giveaway going on right now with that podcast
- 15:06where we're giving away a bundle of vinyl or a bundle of CDs.
- 15:09You got a couple more weeks to check that out before our next
- 15:11giveaway kicks off. And usually at this point, we do
- 15:15the news rundown and we're going to talk about festivals because
- 15:21that's where we usually start metal festivals.
- 15:24You 2's Bono's Doobie is here. I am not a fan of You 2.
- 15:29I know that's not a hot take of any kind, I just have never been
- 15:33a fan. Just honestly not like them
- 15:35since the early 80s. Let's talk about metal festivals
- 15:39because it's metal festival season.
- 15:41Bloodstock Open Air kicks off this weekend.
- 15:44Ghost Cult as they are covering for the We're thirteen years in
- 15:47existence. This is our 12 blood stock and I
- 15:51could not be more happy about it.
- 15:52Trivium is headlining along with Machine Head and Gojira.
- 15:56It usually sells out Saturday and Sunday are completely sold
- 15:59out Friday night. Tickets are still available if
- 16:02they're in the UK. This is the spiritual successor
- 16:05to Donnington Castle. Donnington.
- 16:06This is where this takes place in in Canton in the UK.
- 16:12Other bands performing this weekend at Bloodstone include
- 16:15Emperor Ministry, Mastodon, Lacuna Coil, Fear Factory, Lord
- 16:19of the Lost, Orange, Goblin Creeper, Ferra, Swans, The Black
- 16:23Dahlia, Murderer, Obituary, Cataclysm, Static Axe, Nail Bomb
- 16:28Me and That Man. That's Nergal's side band.
- 16:32It's kind of a dark folk rock band and so many more, so this
- 16:37is just a banger of a lineup. Interestingly enough, Machine
- 16:41Head was like a surprise band last year on one of the smaller
- 16:44tent stages and then they ended up now a headliner.
- 16:48So that's a good indication. If anybody shows up in as a
- 16:51surprise this weekend, that's probably going to be a headliner
- 16:53next year. Lalapalooza was this weekend.
- 16:57And you know, they have other Lalapalooza's all over the world
- 17:00at the same time. And it was interesting to talk
- 17:02about Corn. So Corn who is, you know, one of
- 17:06the biggest bands in the world. Maybe they're not as big as
- 17:08Deftones, who were one of the headliners of Lalapalooza last
- 17:12year. Lalapalooza not really such a
- 17:13rock festival anymore, right? It's mostly pop and rap and
- 17:17other kinds of artists. Bill Mosley's here.
- 17:19We're just talking about Bloodstock.
- 17:20Bill, great to see you have a good time this weekend.
- 17:23Make sure you hydrate, Sir. So Corn played Lollapalooza, and
- 17:27the fans seem to not care less, which is crazy.
- 17:34Yeah, just absolutely bonkers that they would just kind of
- 17:37stand in there like, it's not their crowd.
- 17:39And I get that. And some people were going off
- 17:41and I watched the video, and it made me like, reflect back.
- 17:45The last time Corn played Lollapalooza was 1997 when it
- 17:50was a much more rock and metal festival and the crowd went
- 17:53ancient. They were when the headliners
- 17:54along with Tool and Snoop Dogg that year and people were going
- 17:59bananas. I watched a video of them and it
- 18:02was pretty phenomenal. So Corn, they didn't comment on
- 18:05this publicly but like the message boards and the fans took
- 18:09to Reddit and others and other social medias and we're just
- 18:13like, what is wrong with all these people?
- 18:14This is one of the greatest bands in the world and then they
- 18:17play blind and you know, it's always a lit song live and
- 18:20people are just like whatever, I don't care about them.
- 18:23So maybe not their environment, but at the same time there was
- 18:26some fun things that happened at Lollapalooza.
- 18:30Olivia Rodrigo has been, you know, playing big festivals this
- 18:33summer all over the world. I could not name 1 Olivia
- 18:36Rodrigo song. I'm sure she's just a fine pop
- 18:39star or whatever, but I thought it was pretty funny.
- 18:42She brought out Weezer for their her encore.
- 18:45Her first concert ever was Weezer.
- 18:47This is a picture of her as a little kid that she shared that
- 18:49her parents took her to a Weezer show and she brought them out
- 18:52and sang and played guitar with Rivers Cuomo, who is an
- 18:55incredible guitar player by the way, And they played Buddy Holly
- 18:59and and say it in so, which is pretty amazing and good for
- 19:05them. So that was kind of cool.
- 19:08On to more serious metal festivals.
- 19:11Bakken just concluded this past weekend and they announced the
- 19:15first bands for 2026. This always sells out.
- 19:17I would like to go someday but it hasn't been in the cards for
- 19:20me. One of the things that was
- 19:23surprising to find out is this will be the first announced
- 19:26chauffeur, Nevermore. The RE formed Nevermore with
- 19:29this as yet unnamed singer and bassist.
- 19:33So Def Leppard in flames. Powerwolf.
- 19:35Sabotage, Emperor Sepultura, their final German show, Lamb of
- 19:41God, Airborne Europe, Battery Tribute, Trypticon, The
- 19:47Gathering, Never, Never More. As I mentioned, Mantar, Thunder,
- 19:52Mother Gut, LAX, Fawn, Pig, Destroyer.
- 19:56So a lot of bands still to come, but a lot of bands.
- 20:00Orbit Culture, Luna Kills. So lots of things, lots of
- 20:05things coming up. All right, Blades of Steel Metal
- 20:09Fast is in the USA, in Wisconsin coming up at the end of the
- 20:13month. War Bringer, Satan, Incantation
- 20:16and many more will be there. I love going to see Satan live
- 20:20just so I can say hail Satan as loud as possible.
- 20:23That's what I do. Hell's Heroes announced their
- 20:27first bands, including UDO Dirk Schneider's solo band playing
- 20:31the hits of Accept. Sanctuary has been quiet for a
- 20:35while so it's nice to see them. Another world name related band
- 20:38boy VOD Tankard, Virgin Steel, 3 inches of Blood, Bulldozer,
- 20:44Grand Magus who rarely tours the USA, White Wizard.
- 20:47There's a bunch of white Wizards, but that one Bat
- 20:51Phantom and many more. So that was the first
- 20:54announcement of Hell's Humorous. We've interviewed Christian of
- 20:57Necro Fire. He's the Booker of Hell's Heroes
- 21:00and a pretty solid dude, I think.
- 21:02And yeah, that looks like a great little festival taking
- 21:05place in Houston next spring. Brutal Assault is this weekend
- 21:09in a fortress in Czech Republic. And this is a huge lineup.
- 21:16Huge just I think 170 bands this year playing Brutal Assault.
- 21:23Also coming up soon is Furnace Fest.
- 21:26I don't have the whole poster out here but I did notice the
- 21:28news piece about the Tony Danza tap dance extravaganza reunited.
- 21:32We brought that news to you a while back and they will have 3
- 21:36guitar players for that reunion show because they need 3 guitar
- 21:40players to pull off that shit. And more news about Furnace Fest
- 21:44soon. Last year was supposed to be the
- 21:46last Furnace Fest that clearly wasn't.
- 21:48This year is probably not the last Furnace Fest, but you know
- 21:51you should go to these things if you can.
- 21:56Also, this weekend is Alcatraz Festival, so we know that in
- 22:02Belgium. So we know that Machine Heads
- 22:03going to headline Saturday night in England and then go to
- 22:06Belgium because Europe is closed like that.
- 22:08You can fly around and get everywhere.
- 22:11Machine head will close Sunday night and Alcatraz Festival,
- 22:15Extreme creator, Machine Head, Mastodon, WASP, Avatar, Doro,
- 22:20Demu Borgier again, Fear Factory, Wolfmother, Nail bomb a
- 22:24Pot, Emperor Ministry, Leprous, Static X Fu Manchu helmet,
- 22:30Whiplash from New Jersey, one up helicopters and many more
- 22:35incredible filters in there. Dynamo Fest is in a few weeks in
- 22:42the Netherlands, also relatively close to Belgium.
- 22:46Next door, Opath and Mastodon headlining with Fear Factory,
- 22:49Paradise Lost, Nail Bomb, Within Temptation, Creator, Kujira, I
- 22:53Prevail and more. Also Motor Culture.
- 22:57Our festival is next weekend, also headlined by Machine Head
- 23:01Trivium, Demu Borgier, Extreme I Prevail, Carrie King solo band
- 23:05Mogwai Landmarks. That band is growing up Big
- 23:09Blind Guardian Candle Mask Carpenter brood, Cult of Luna,
- 23:12Dark Angel Division Ivor who we just interviewed and slaves.
- 23:16Big big enslaved fan. I am envy and more Hey Just me
- 23:22is passing by. Just me is one of our regular
- 23:24and real ones. Good to see you.
- 23:27Della Darling is here every. This band is here.
- 23:34Shaky Knees once again is coming up in September and Ghost Cult
- 23:37will be there covering Deftones, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182
- 23:42and many others. That looks really fun down in a
- 23:45big park in Atlanta. I'm a fan.
- 23:49Aftershock again, I'm looking forward to this.
- 23:51I don't know if you're going to Aftershock, just me, but I will
- 23:54be there. I'll be there working and I'm
- 23:56looking forward to it, especially the middle 2 days.
- 24:01Definitely Deftones and corn turnstile, Gojira, knock loose,
- 24:05a perfect circle, bad omen, stream theater, powerwolf, acid
- 24:09bath. These are the bands I'm most
- 24:12interested in them. Alkaline Trio is always good.
- 24:14Knock loose, Dillinger escape plan yet again so should be fun.
- 24:22Oh, High On Fire, so bad, so bad.
- 24:27Just us. On the same note of some Danny
- 24:29Wermer festival stuff. Of course, Louder Than Life and
- 24:33Bourbon and Beyond are two more Danny Wermer festivals we should
- 24:36be covering. Louder Than Life in September,
- 24:39my man Jim is going to head out there and cover that.
- 24:41And Bourbon and Beyond we have covered in the past and they
- 24:43have upgraded. These festival experiences
- 24:46change the map a little bit. So if you are a frequent visitor
- 24:50to these festivals in Kentucky, you definitely want to
- 24:54familiarize yourself with the map before you go out to the
- 24:58show. They look pretty cool.
- 25:02Levitation fest is coming up this September.
- 25:05Oh my God. Mastodon, acid bath, the sword
- 25:07blood incantation, the armed secret chiefs 3 castle ride and
- 25:11more. What is this festival?
- 25:14This is crazy Levitation, I think was had another name a few
- 25:18years ago and they keep doing a very nice job with the festival.
- 25:24I know it's a little spread out. I've never been to Austin, but
- 25:27it's not all in This is the greatest of all
- 25:50tours worldwide tour. They played the West Coast last
- 25:56weekend and now they are crisscrossing the USA for
- 26:01Volbeat. So pretty cool.
- 26:03Good new album. A lot of things happening on
- 26:06that front. Dillinger Compound has arrived.
- 26:08Dillinger, good to see you. We're just talking about
- 26:11Dillinger Escape Plan playing it Aftershock.
- 26:14I did all the metal festivals. You didn't miss miss too much.
- 26:17Just heading talking about some tours.
- 26:19Now. We told you last week about
- 26:21Dying Wish's new album and dropping a bunch of new singles.
- 26:24They announced this killer killer tour Dying wish, Static
- 26:28dress, Gouge away, Orthodox and Bolt Cutter across different
- 26:33dates and as well as their Dying wish miss go.
- 26:37I love this poster more than you can possibly imagine.
- 26:40Like Santa stage diving, brown Santa stage diving with two
- 26:45doves into a crowd of mashers. And it's most of this tour.
- 26:49Dying Wish, Static dress, big boy Gridiron down to a orthodox
- 26:54bolt cutter. End of days.
- 26:58Pretty damn cool. I'm big on that band.
- 27:01I would like to see them live, they look really cool.
- 27:03It seems to never perform again. Terrible show in New York I
- 27:06know. Man, you really should stop
- 27:09trying. I can see like if you never saw
- 27:13crew right and I'm just going to kill off the ghost called Meg
- 27:16banner for a second and put the comments in.
- 27:18Like if you never saw crew I get it.
- 27:21But like man, there's no legacy to tarnish.
- 27:27Like just stop. I know the money is there and if
- 27:29you want to sing home sweet home with 10,000 other people I can
- 27:32drunkenly you warble that shit. You'd sing better than Vince, I
- 27:36get it. But just stop man.
- 27:38Like I don't have any desire to see them again.
- 27:40I saw them once for the first time in a long time 15 years ago
- 27:44and I was like fuck this, I have no interest.
- 27:47Stevie TV's fest is also coming up in September and there's a
- 27:50lot of hardcore and punk shows built around the festival so
- 27:53this is cool. This just got announced.
- 27:55My favorite New York hardcore band of all time.
- 27:58Gorilla Biscuits with orange 9mm, the reformed orange 9mm who
- 28:03dropped the new single recently, Knocked Down and more to be
- 28:06announced. Also Deadshot, it looks really
- 28:09cool. If I was back in New York, I'd
- 28:11be at that show where Druna is kicking off their tour in a
- 28:16little a little under a month where Druna and Chelsea Wolf is
- 28:21only about 18 or 19 days. Do not sleep on this tour.
- 28:25They are heavily touring behind their recent album Burn Out now
- 28:30on by Norse Recordings. 9 Inch Nails Peel it Back tour.
- 28:36I went last night in Oakland for the kickoff of the US tour.
- 28:39Unbelievably great. If you're a fan, you have to go
- 28:43see this if you can. The tickets were bought for me
- 28:47by my wonderful girlfriend you Melissa for enabling a good
- 28:51time. It was an incredible an
- 28:54incredible setlist. It was an incredible visual
- 28:58thing. I might come in and do an extra
- 29:00bonus live stream review of it because it was that good.
- 29:04Hopefully we'll get to cover the tour a little bit further out
- 29:08somewhere else. But you know, I went as a fan.
- 29:12I might write a review. I'll at least do an online
- 29:14review, but it was pretty amazing.
- 29:17The merch is a little costly and I didn't buy any, but I got some
- 29:21good video of all the merch stuff too so I'll share that
- 29:24tomorrow. But what a great tour, what a
- 29:26great show and Boys Noise was amazing as my boy Mike said they
- 29:30would be and just unbelievable show.
- 29:35Pantera continues to tour with Amanda Morris and other openers
- 29:39and we ran our review of this show this week in addition to
- 29:44Volbeat today. Pretty, pretty great Pantera.
- 29:48I got to appreciate that they are trying to change up the set
- 29:51list and do some different things, which is nice.
- 29:56Primus, this is a tour we're covering tonight in Sacramento.
- 29:58I don't know if you're going just me, but hey, Meg Jacobs is
- 30:03here. What's up, Meg?
- 30:04We've we've covered some of your stuff and hopefully we'll get to
- 30:08talk to you soon. I got to talk to your publicist.
- 30:10But Primus is on tour on the Onward and Upward tour with
- 30:13their new drummer John Hoffman, and they are playing the brand
- 30:16new Channel 24 club in Sacramento.
- 30:21I haven't been there. If Just Me is still floating
- 30:24around on TikTok, chime in and let us know how that venue is
- 30:31talking again about High On Fire this tour.
- 30:33This T's tickets are on sale now.
- 30:35Charger and Bastard. And not really a not really a
- 30:42whole North American tour. It's more like Western Canada
- 30:44and the Western USA, but not too shabby.
- 30:47Yeah. Shock narcotic, man.
- 30:49You know, we, I should, I should definitely.
- 30:53I think I'm also going to review.
- 30:55I've really been digging. I'm supposed to write a review
- 30:58tonight for Babymetal, which I actually really love that band
- 31:01and I love that album. And also got to say, the new
- 31:06Insight record, Richie Cavalier's band is crushing me.
- 31:10You know, I know every band says this is our best record, but
- 31:12this actually is their best record.
- 31:13It's fucking amazing. But yeah, man, shock necrotic.
- 31:17That's so you know, we you know, we we review about 500 records a
- 31:20year. That being said, we do miss a
- 31:23few things. So I don't think we got shock
- 31:25necrotic. I think we got the promo in time
- 31:28talked about this last week. Tickets are on sale now for John
- 31:31Bush doing just three shows of his Anthrax Era 90 stuff.
- 31:35I suspect there's going to be a tremendous amount of interest in
- 31:38this. I want to go Category 7 is going
- 31:42to also give a special performance.
- 31:44I suspect it will be his backing band for this because they're
- 31:47all killer musicians and they can all play the Anthrax stuff.
- 31:51So John Bush doing sound of White noise Stomp 442 volume 8.
- 31:55The threat is real and we've come for you all amazing.
- 31:58And I I was talking online with some people.
- 32:00I really would like to see Joey do some of the John Bush stuff.
- 32:03It's an entire 10 plus years of the band that they had John in
- 32:07and one of those records is a platinum record.
- 32:10Like you can't just ignore it and never play that stuff ever
- 32:13again. Those are huge songs and I think
- 32:15Joey could do a good job. I know he struggled a little to
- 32:17do only when he came back in, but I think he can do it.
- 32:20I think he can do it employed to serve a reminder.
- 32:24They have some dates coming up later in the year supporting
- 32:28their new album, which I quite like.
- 32:29Melvin's continue another leg of their European Tour played
- 32:34Cologne, Germany last night, tonight in Berlin, tomorrow
- 32:38Hamburg and then they come to the states at after a few more
- 32:43weeks of European dates and they're going to play
- 32:46Melbourne's and Red Cross. Stop your whining tour.
- 32:48So Steven McDonald will be doing double duty in Red Cross and
- 32:53Melbourne's love me some Melbourne's again nocturnal
- 32:57affair. We just ran our interview with
- 32:58them. They're on tour in Europe
- 33:00supporting Wednesday 13 and Drowning Pool.
- 33:03Very cool, very cool. Northern Destruction tour
- 33:06continues. Gorgatron casket robbery and
- 33:10frontal assault. What a cool name that is.
- 33:18I hate the click clacking, click clacking.
- 33:20But let's take a look, taking a look at things ahead of time,
- 33:26all right, Blood incantation. Unfortunately, because I saw, I
- 33:32got to see 9 Inch Nails blood incantation played in San
- 33:35Francisco at the same exact time.
- 33:38Fuck, why does this happen to me?
- 33:40But anyway, we covered that tour in Saint Louis and yeah,
- 33:47phenomenal stuff, phenomenal stuff.
- 33:51Strangled by the sun is also passed by.
- 33:52Hello hello been fun Torres Fear Factory we mentioned them in a
- 33:59bunch of festival no notes. They continue to tour 30 years
- 34:03of D manufacturer. They're coming up to the USA
- 34:06soon. Frail is on tour kicked off
- 34:10their new dates this week. Walking Wounded tour.
- 34:12They've got a new single out. I am a big fan of this band and
- 34:16I look forward to their new out. Acon Records Sublime dropped the
- 34:21new single, their first ever with Jacob Noel, and they are
- 34:27playing unplugged. They also dropped an unplugged
- 34:29version of their new single and they're going to play an
- 34:33unplugged concert an evening with, which is kind of cool.
- 34:39They've been great. They're one of my favorite bands
- 34:40that I've seen in the last couple of years from that era.
- 34:46Dropkick Murphys are also playing in a special acoustic
- 34:49show. Was already this week but very
- 34:52cool. Maybe they will do more of
- 34:53these. I could see it.
- 34:55KMFDM announced European Tour dates for early next year.
- 34:59Still rocking the Let's Go album.
- 35:01I know they're putting out some vinyl re issues of How Rock and
- 35:04a few other records so very excited about these things.
- 35:08I would love to see KKMFD M1 more time.
- 35:12What a week this has been for Green Jello.
- 35:14I'm a big green jello fan. I saw Green Cello last year and
- 35:17got on stage with them and probably got some kind of
- 35:21airborne illness from putting on one of those grungy unwashed
- 35:24masks. No sooner had they announced a
- 35:27big tour with 96 Bitter Beans, that's Darren Miller's band from
- 35:31CKY, The Bunny, The Bear, Convalescence and other bands.
- 35:36Their guitar, their bassist put up a pretty tasteless meme of
- 35:40Ozzy, like Ozzy's Dead, One Day sober, not funny, too soon, 100%
- 35:46and he was fired. I mean, Green Jello's entire
- 35:48career has been kind of flipping off and being irreverent and
- 35:52satirical, but you know, sometimes it's just too soon.
- 35:56Just too soon. I just like this meme here on
- 36:01YouTube. Black Sabbath.
- 36:04Black Sabbath debut album by Black Sabbath.
- 36:07Black Sabbath, the title track from the album Black Sabbath by
- 36:10Black Sabbath. Yeah, this is terrible, but this
- 36:12meme is forever. And then just again, just
- 36:16another reminder, if you guys want to drop us a tip, we take
- 36:20super chats, super thanks on YouTube.
- 36:24You can buy us a coffee, a coffee on Kofi.
- 36:26You can hit our PayPal, our cash app, whatever you like.
- 36:36All right, on with the rest of the show.
- 36:37Just a reminder, we have a new affiliate partner, Fable Beard
- 36:42Company. If you want to have an awesome
- 36:44beard like I do, get our link in the description from Fable Beard
- 36:48Company. You get money off your first
- 36:50order. We get credits to buy more Fable
- 36:53Beard products, so it's super cool.
- 36:58And also our other affiliate partner is Lamb Goat.
- 37:02The much meaner version of Ghost called Lamb Goat is they have a
- 37:06media network. So we are one of the websites in
- 37:10their media network along with Metal Insider.
- 37:13This day in metal, new Metal Agenda, Metal Insider, I think I
- 37:18said them already and the Anthony Fantano, who I have a
- 37:22news story coming up about soon. I normally don't report on other
- 37:25people in my field, but I was compelled to.
- 37:27You know why? Also, if you're watching this
- 37:30except for y'all on Stream Yard, I'm deeply sorry.
- 37:33We stream with Stream Yard on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and
- 37:38Instagram. You can stream like we do with
- 37:40the link in the description and check it out.
- 37:44And we're on all the socials, which are increasingly terrible.
- 37:47And we restarted our newsletter. So if you want to sign up for
- 37:50our newsletter and just skip all this shit and just get a feed
- 37:54once a week of the stuff you missed, you can do that.
- 37:59We're on Blue Sky. We're on Threads.
- 38:02I like this meme too. Daddy, sing me a song from your
- 38:04generation. Fuck you.
- 38:05I won't do what you tell me. Perfect.
- 38:10All right, that was all the festivals and the concert tours
- 38:14and the one off things. One other bit of note.
- 38:17I don't think I had the story pulled up for the deck, but
- 38:21Jesus Lizard, who had an extensive year long tour plan,
- 38:26has canceled all their remaining tour dates due to a medical
- 38:29emergency. Now, I saw Jesus Lizard a couple
- 38:31of months ago. They were phenomenal.
- 38:33They recorded a live album at those shows.
- 38:36But I'm very sad to hear that somebody in the van is ill.
- 38:39I hopefully they can make a comeback soon.
- 38:43So here's the big thing that hit today.
- 38:46So apparently Ronnie Radke, I don't enjoy talking about this
- 38:49guy. I don't like Falling In Reverse.
- 38:51I know some people are huge fans and I just don't care for them
- 38:55or him. He tried to sue Anthony Fantano
- 38:59for making a video about him basically complaining about him
- 39:03as a person and an artist and his character.
- 39:06And that lawsuit was struck down and then Radke made another
- 39:12video, which is like backtracking some of the things
- 39:14he said about Fantano. And why am I talking about this
- 39:18when I don't like Ronnie Radke and I I like Fantano, I respect
- 39:22him. He's been around a long time.
- 39:23This is important. Like bands, let me give you 1 to
- 39:28grow on here. If you don't like something
- 39:30somebody said about you, you can do two things.
- 39:33Ignore the fuck out of it or lean into it and talk about it,
- 39:37but don't fit talk a journalist who is working usually for free.
- 39:41Fantano makes a lot of money. He's one of the most popular
- 39:45websites and and Youtubes in the world.
- 39:48But like, you know, you got to be able to take a little
- 39:50criticism of your your character.
- 39:52If you have a you know, you know, you like Ronnie Radke, you
- 39:55know why you are like this. You are a shit stirrer and you
- 39:58enjoy it. You like to troll people.
- 40:00You enjoy this shit. I wish the music was better, you
- 40:06know, but. Yeah, I don't know.
- 40:10You know, journalists need to be freedom of speech and and
- 40:15freedom of the press means we need to be able to criticize
- 40:18things. And you can't take it fucking
- 40:19personally and sue somebody who said something mean about you.
- 40:23Now, I think there's a lot of people out there that do what I
- 40:25do and do what Fantano does. I'm not necessarily equating
- 40:29what he does to what I do. But you know, I've been at this
- 40:32a very long time and you know, he's got hot takes.
- 40:37This is a low too. This is a high 8 or whatever.
- 40:41You can't, you know, you just can't be a bitch about it.
- 40:46I don't know how else to say it, Radke.
- 40:47You're a little bitch and you can't go sue everybody you don't
- 40:50like that's mean to you while you are horrendous to everybody
- 40:54else. You got, you want to dish it
- 40:55out, you got to be able to take it.
- 40:57And journalists need to be able to have the freedom to critique
- 41:01somebody they don't like or someone's music they don't like
- 41:04or some band they don't like or some artwork they they found
- 41:06objectionable. And you don't have to like it.
- 41:09Just like there's two knobs, 2 buttons, two things to tell you
- 41:13don't like what I have to say, swipe and check out somebody
- 41:16else. You like what I have to say,
- 41:17Please be in the community and drop a comment and tell me.
- 41:20But like, you can't sue your problems away like a child.
- 41:24Just money is not the fix for everything.
- 41:26And we live in a very litigious country and I don't fucking get
- 41:30it. So I wanted to talk about this
- 41:32because Fantano, that's our fraternity, man.
- 41:34And that's our, our, our family. You can't just sue the shit out
- 41:37of somebody who said some mean shit about you.
- 41:40That's fucking stupid. Anyway, Ozzy, here's another
- 41:45thing I wanted to talk about about us.
- 41:47Frankly, we got the cause of death of Ozzy this week, and I
- 41:53have taken this loss very hard, as I expected I would.
- 41:56I knew I was never going to be OK about this, but there's
- 41:59something I wanted to talk about.
- 42:01So everybody rushed to talk about like the cause of death of
- 42:05Mozzie. And I have never actually done
- 42:07one of these after the fact stories before.
- 42:10If someone dies, we write an obituary.
- 42:13We talked about it. I did a live stream, we did a
- 42:15whole retrospective about Ozzy on my other podcast, and we
- 42:19happen to be starting a series on Ozzy's solo career because we
- 42:23thought back to the beginning was a good place to kind of do
- 42:26some Ozzy stuff. We had planned it.
- 42:29We didn't know he was going to die.
- 42:31I'm very sad and heartbroken for his family and all his fans
- 42:34around the world. We all grieve together and a
- 42:37couple of people called me out and we're like, hey, I don't go
- 42:41to ghost cult for Dillinger. You would be a good person to
- 42:44chime in on this. You know, I don't go to ghost
- 42:47cult for this salacious bullshit that Loudwire and Blabbermouth
- 42:51in particular do and others and every, you know, it's kind of a
- 42:55thing in my mind where it just seems like you're going to see a
- 42:58lot of Aussie stuff because people want Aussie content right
- 43:01now. And like, I don't care that much
- 43:04about, yes, I would like to get clicks and yes, we're competing
- 43:07with other brands that do what I do.
- 43:11When I didn't feel good about it.
- 43:13When we got called out, I said, you know, fair game.
- 43:16Somebody commented on Instagram in particular, like, Hey, I
- 43:19don't come to you for this and please don't do this anymore.
- 43:22And I had never done one before. Never.
- 43:25And honestly, it was hard. It was hard.
- 43:28I, I really look at myself as a, as a journalist and be like, is
- 43:32this what I want to do with our website and our socials?
- 43:35So I don't know that I will do another one in the future when
- 43:38someone else pass away, unless it's something really
- 43:42newsworthy, you know, something unexpected.
- 43:47So I've never done that before. So if someone passes away, we
- 43:51write an obituary, we cover their death.
- 43:53Obviously Ozzy, this is like a 911 level event for metal heads
- 43:58and rockers and fans of his cross generations and
- 44:02transcended music and rock to just be a personality.
- 44:05So there's not going to be another Ozzy.
- 44:07There's not another person like Ozzy that will pass away that
- 44:10will have this kind of worldwide impact.
- 44:13I think in the future, man, I might refrain from doing these.
- 44:16I don't even like writing the obituaries.
- 44:18They're painful to write, honestly.
- 44:22They all kind of hurt a little bit, but I feel like if anybody
- 44:26wanted to call out our integrity, that was the spot to
- 44:28do it. Like other than that, I think
- 44:30we're pretty much above beyond reproach beyond except for that
- 44:34little moment. So, you know, I don't know
- 44:37entirely how I feel. Again, Drummer Wars, what is
- 44:44happening with drummers? Check your friends who are
- 44:46drummers because like, holy shit, right?
- 44:50So I saw the 9 Inch Nails tour last night with Josh, had one
- 44:53rehearsal and smashed A20 song set list and went so hard and he
- 44:59was so good and the whole place gave him like a two or three
- 45:02minute ovation. When Trent Reznor interviewed,
- 45:06you know, introduced the band. We still haven't heard why Elon
- 45:10Rubin quit 9 Inch Nails. He was on.
- 45:12I know that his wife's about to have a baby and maybe Foo
- 45:15Fighters and him were circling each other in general.
- 45:19I don't know when he could have auditioned or sent an audition
- 45:21tape because he's been on tour for all of Europe for two months
- 45:26with 9 Inch Nails. But you know, just fucking wild.
- 45:33And classically, no comments from from Josh Breeze.
- 45:38And you know, Variety is the one who reported that Elon is going
- 45:43to be the new drummer of Foo Fighters.
- 45:46They didn't actually make a formal announcement.
- 45:48I guess it's confirmed, but confirmed by a source close to
- 45:51the band. So I don't know.
- 45:54Metallica. Big week of Metallica news.
- 45:57So Lars Aldrich was on the now soon to be cancelled Howard
- 46:01Stern show on SiriusXM, and he talked, he admitted that they
- 46:05are discussing playing the Sphere next year at the end of
- 46:09the M72 tour for residency. He went to the apparently the
- 46:13very first show ever at the Sphere was U2.
- 46:16And he went there and he loved it and he thought about what was
- 46:19possible. They we sent our team out.
- 46:21We went and checked it out and maybe we'll play the Sphere.
- 46:25Pretty cool. He also said that he would never
- 46:27not rule out the Super Bowl. Now, I'm going to tell you, in
- 46:30the past, Metallica has said through interviews they would
- 46:33not be interested in doing the Super Bowl.
- 46:35We know from experience that when Metallica is not in control
- 46:39of a situation, they don't do well.
- 46:42I've seen them live a few times. This is why now when they tour
- 46:45or play, if somebody else's event or festival, they insist
- 46:48on having their own sound system because they don't trust anybody
- 46:52else's lights or sound. So it'd be very interesting to
- 46:54see them surrender the control to the sphere to let them do
- 46:58whatever they do. And you know, I mean, the 9 Inch
- 47:02Nails show seemed a little overwhelming to me.
- 47:04I would really love to go to the Sphere to see Metallica.
- 47:07But they don't do too well when it's not their managing, you
- 47:11know, when they can't manage a situation, they don't do as
- 47:14well. But Laura, same thing with the
- 47:15Super Bowl, he said, like, you know, I would never rule it out.
- 47:18It's the biggest thing in the world.
- 47:19We'd love to do it, but we've never been asked.
- 47:23Couple of things you don't know about the NFL and the Super
- 47:25Bowl. And I did a little live stream
- 47:27about this last year. I'll probably do another one
- 47:29this year. Yes, the Super Bowl this year is
- 47:31in San Francisco in my backyard. Metallica would be the obvious
- 47:35choice to do the halftime show. And if they're going to be, if
- 47:38they're going to do it, they should be getting asked soon,
- 47:40right? Because it's like 6 months away.
- 47:44But they haven't been asked. And again, you don't get paid to
- 47:48play the Super Bowl. You kind of pay the NFL, they're
- 47:51a non profit, so you have to make a charity donation with
- 47:53Metallica. It's a charitable arm.
- 47:55That makes sense. You have to pre record your
- 47:57performance and lip sync doesn't seem like something Metallica
- 47:59ever would want to do ever again after the debacle at the Grammys
- 48:03with Lady Gaga. They love Lady Gaga and they
- 48:05love jamming with her. But like that, that live
- 48:08performance was a mess. And it's also on a tape delay
- 48:11which can create issues for singers to be on beat and things
- 48:15like that. So just things to consider or
- 48:19Metallica if they ever do the Super Bowl and also announced
- 48:22this week because that's what Lars was on SiriusXM to promote
- 48:26the new Maximum Metallica channel, the new permanent
- 48:31channel for Metallica. Tom Petty has one Ozzy's
- 48:34Boneyard. Obviously everybody knows what
- 48:35Metallica is going to launch their own new channel on
- 48:40SiriusXM and they're going to play an intimate live
- 48:44performance in Long Island for like 100 people.
- 48:46You can donate to win a chance to go see it, and apparently
- 48:51it's going to be very exclusive and that's going to be the first
- 48:55ever thing broadcast on the Sirius Maximum Metallica
- 49:00channel, and I believe it is channel 28 on your dial.
- 49:04Also, Tool's been in the news a lot this week.
- 49:07Puscifer has some shows this weekend in LA.
- 49:09It's already sold out, so that's why I didn't talk about it.
- 49:12They're going to debut some new material there and play their
- 49:15greatest hits, apparently, because they just put a greatest
- 49:18hits thing out on Spotify. Maynard's been doing some press
- 49:22again talking about the no phones thing and really doubled
- 49:26and tripled down on people. This this shot is from our
- 49:30recent coverage of Tool and just really like you're an idiot for
- 49:35filming a whole show on your phone.
- 49:38Just to let you know, I took a few videos of Nine Inch Nails,
- 49:40but for the most part, I was on my phone off my phone and
- 49:43watching the show and absorbing the show did record one whole
- 49:48song. We'll see if I post it.
- 49:51I didn't. I do watch my videos from shows
- 49:53over and over, but like some people mostly don't.
- 49:56And why would you watch your whole show like this?
- 49:59Why would you? Why would you?
- 50:00I don't know why you would like it's unless you have a vision
- 50:03problems which maybe I can't see too well anymore so maybe that's
- 50:08a thing. But anyway, interesting stuff
- 50:10with Tool, New music coming soon from Puscifer and apparently a
- 50:15Perfect Circle is also working on new music too, as well as
- 50:18Tool. By the way, Tool put out a
- 50:23leather jacket this week with artwork inside the landing by
- 50:27Frank Frazetta. So they bought the rights to a
- 50:30classic Frank Frazetta painting. Frank Rizzetti used to do the
- 50:33Conan books and and all this fantasy and horror stuff.
- 50:37Heath is here. Bog Wizard is here.
- 50:41This jacket is $1300. I shit you not, $1300 for a
- 50:46leather jacket like Maynard Weir.
- 50:48It's like kind of a pilot's Air Force jacket.
- 50:51What the fuck? Anyway, I, I have no words.
- 50:56But anyway, tool. They will sell out of these
- 50:58things, I'm sure because they're tooled.
- 51:00Silly Goose, the new metal band on Blue.
- 51:03Great music. You know them from their What
- 51:05the Fuck is Up subway video. They did a show on a subway.
- 51:10They do a lot of guerrilla shows.
- 51:11They weren't arrested after doing a show at a gas station
- 51:15they claim they had the permission for.
- 51:17And then the singer was arrested and we have a bunch of pictures
- 51:19of him here getting arrested. And now they have launched A
- 51:22GoFundMe which you can donate to, to help the singer out his
- 51:25legal fee. Legal problems.
- 51:29Bad Omens has been teasing a new song.
- 51:30They're probably going to drop it this weekend.
- 51:32The video teaser features Ryan Hurst.
- 51:35You probably know him from the movie Remember the Titans.
- 51:38He was also Opie and Sons of Anarchy.
- 51:41And of course he was beta in The Walking Dead final seasons.
- 51:46So great actor. Yeah, I know he's got a new show
- 51:50also. That's pretty cool.
- 51:51So bad Almonds new video, new song probably dropping.
- 51:54New album announcement perhaps for next year or later this
- 51:57year. And Ryan Hurst will be in the
- 51:59video. We'll talk more about it next
- 52:01week. Black Braid's new album, Black
- 52:04Braid 3 is out this weekend. We'll talk about the new music
- 52:07out for new music Friday. Super stoked.
- 52:10I'm I'm just tickled pink for the success of of this person.
- 52:15Sagasa way is his actual name and Black braid is incredible.
- 52:20Black Braid 2 two years ago was the album of the year for Ghost
- 52:24Cult for 2023. So we shall see what this
- 52:29brings. Also Visitant, which is an
- 52:34incredible death metal band. They have a new album coming out
- 52:38on Exit Stratagem Records. They have a new video, Briars
- 52:44that came out today and a big tour, you know, visits in an
- 52:50incredible band. They're also playing the
- 52:52Michigan Metal Fest and I'm pretty stoked by this.
- 52:57Their singer is incredible. They have kind of an All Star
- 53:01band, members of Abiotic and Ladder, Math and Scale, The
- 53:06Summit and Unaligned and 4F. Chelsea is the singer of that
- 53:10band from 4F. Also so fucking killer.
- 53:13Definitely invest. If you love heavy, heavy music,
- 53:16brutal, technical, death metal, this is the band for you.
- 53:21Gore is having quite a time. They just released their new EP
- 53:25and multimedia release, Gore Gore, The Return of Gore Gore.
- 53:30They're doing a live stream on Veeps.
- 53:32There's a Gore museum in LA that's going to be happening
- 53:35now. Sledge Metal fuck yes here.
- 53:37What's up? Sledge Metal.
- 53:38Fuck yeah. I like a lot of Sledge metal.
- 53:41So Gore, a lot of cool things happening with them right now.
- 53:44I'm hopeful to get a new interview with Gore soon.
- 53:50Chelsea Wolf is celebrating 10 years of her Abyss record with a
- 53:53brand new vinyl pressing, limited edition vinyl pressing
- 53:57of Abyss, and a bunch of Abyss new merch.
- 54:00So you might want to check that out.
- 54:01I'm a big fan of Chelsea Wolf, this is Arcadia and this is a
- 54:07super group, if you will, of Atlanta musician and artist Core
- 54:11Adams and Bron Dollar of Mastodon.
- 54:13So if you like the Hunter and a lot of like psychedelic Mastodon
- 54:19stuff, just like a touch less heavy but just as weird and cool
- 54:22and very synthesizer and effects heavy.
- 54:27Psychedelic rock concept album. It's about outer space and
- 54:30society's billions of years in the future.
- 54:32This is for you. We have an interview coming up
- 54:34with Core Adams probably soon, about a month from now probably.
- 54:38And I'm really pumped for this release.
- 54:44Also, the Heavy Music Awards is going to not happen in person as
- 54:50it has the last bunch of years. This is a British heavy metal
- 54:52awards. They've been very cool.
- 54:55We have never been nominated. It would be nice if we were.
- 54:58We started in Europe as a as a place.
- 55:00Maybe we're considered American because the 2 owners are
- 55:02American now. But they will have sort of an
- 55:06online virtual awards ceremony. They're not going to be able to
- 55:10have it in person, but hopefully next year they will have it in
- 55:13person again. But still, I'm trying to support
- 55:15them. Bowling For Soup hit a billion
- 55:19streams across all of social media and spot and streaming, I
- 55:24guess on Spotify for 1985. You already know the song.
- 55:27I don't have to sing it to you. I'm a big fan of that band.
- 55:31Pretty fun. Great American Ghost, the
- 55:34Massachusetts hardcore post hardcore band, put out a cover
- 55:38of Deftones Hole in the Earth. That's pretty good.
- 55:41I've interviewed that band before.
- 55:42It'd be cool to reconnect with them and talk about them again
- 55:45soon. Alice Cooper's new album, The
- 55:48Revenge of Alice Cooper, with the majority of his classic band
- 55:52lineup, is topping the charts in 123456789 countries.
- 55:57Holy shit. Pretty good for Cooper is
- 56:00probably best charting performance in a long time.
- 56:03He's been doing a lot of garage rock.
- 56:04We ran a review of that this week at the site.
- 56:06Album's out a couple of weeks, Bill for Gore is signed to
- 56:10Raining Phoenix Music. They dropped a brand new single
- 56:12in video and they have a new album coming soon.
- 56:15I'm very excited for the Austrian black and death metal
- 56:19leaders. I'm a big fan.
- 56:22Bondage gold zombie. Who doesn't love that shit?
- 56:28This is Laura of hippie death cult.
- 56:32The band had made in a couple of announcements across social
- 56:35media that Laura has been suffered a medical emergency and
- 56:39needs to be off the road for a while to recuperate.
- 56:42That means their upcoming shows are canceled, but also they're
- 56:45going to refocus on recording their new album for next year.
- 56:49So best luck and get well soon. Laura, We met in person, she's
- 56:53lovely. Band is killer.
- 56:55I love this band, especially if you like the psychedelic rock
- 56:59and Stoner Stoner doom stuff, that's what they do.
- 57:03From Portland. Great band.
- 57:06Once again, just reminding you that worst is a new single.
- 57:10A new band that features members of Three Inches of Blood and
- 57:14Bison. From Vancouver, BC, Their new
- 57:16single, Misandrist. Not a fan of misanderests or
- 57:20misogynists, but just so you know, killer, killer doom sludge
- 57:24band. There you go.
- 57:25Fuck yeah. Sludge metal.
- 57:27Fuck yeah. You might like that band.
- 57:29Mark. Badgers passing by.
- 57:30What's up, Mark? Good to see you again.
- 57:39What else do we got? Michael Schenkner is putting out
- 57:43a new album, Michael Schenker Group.
- 57:46He's got a new single and a video out.
- 57:47He's doing kind of a retrospective of his UFO
- 57:50material. He did Scorpions already, so
- 57:53this is pretty cool. He's apparently puts on a great
- 57:55show live. I have not seen Michael
- 57:57Schenkner in a long, long time, probably like 30 years.
- 58:00So I probably should revisit him and maybe go see him live if he
- 58:03comes around because he is pushing like 80 at least in the
- 58:10high 70s. We're almost done with the show
- 58:14folks. AFI put out a new single and
- 58:20announced a new album this week. But what are the Kentucky Fried
- 58:23fuck is going on with this mustache?
- 58:28Oh my God. Davey Havoc this band looks like
- 58:33hits their dads in Brooklyn ordering a cappuccino coffee
- 58:37shop instead of making music. But it's a very cool gothy rock,
- 58:41like leaning into the Bauhaus influence of AFI and a little
- 58:45bit seemingly synth and punk. I like, I hope there's some punk
- 58:50bangers on the record, but you know, if I has been a different
- 58:53kind of band for a long time. Trivium dropped the new single
- 58:59in video today. As predicted.
- 59:02New EP coming soon. They will headline Blood Stock
- 59:05tomorrow and they will play their brand new song.
- 59:07So Bury Me with My Screams is the new single and very exciting
- 59:12stuff. I saw this this week.
- 59:15This was sent to me. Going to a concert every two
- 59:17weeks could add nine years to your life, a new study says.
- 59:20Well sign me the fuck up when you sign me up.
- 59:23I, I do go to a concert at like at least once a month, sometimes
- 59:26every two weeks. Hard Sick.
- 59:29This is a band that I interviewed a couple of years
- 59:31ago and it never kind of got out, but Hard Sick is a band
- 59:35from Michigan that was like the very first band to mix like trap
- 59:38beats and metal and deathcore and they're super cool band.
- 59:41They've announced a new album and their new single is out now,
- 59:45Stuck in the Ground, and you should check it out.
- 59:47They're a killer and great dudes.
- 59:52Not a great time for Slaughter to prevail, despite the fact
- 59:55that they're on the brand new BABYMETAL album last week.
- 59:59It was a beef with one of their former torn people that probably
- 1:00:02leaked some stuff they didn't like and then now their
- 1:00:06warehouse where their masks they sell collapsed with people
- 1:00:11inside. Terrible.
- 1:00:12I'm not making fun of this. I'm saddened by this.
- 1:00:18Alex Terrible of Slaughter Vale put out a statement, said We're
- 1:00:22trying to rebuild. The whole operation has been
- 1:00:24mostly based in Europe and it's all DIY and we're not.
- 1:00:28Commercially affiliated or whatever, but, you know, very
- 1:00:31sorry for the families that may have lost their lives.
- 1:00:35Just crazy. The building just collapsed.
- 1:00:37What the fuck? You know, kind of like that shit
- 1:00:39just happened out of nowhere. Apparently.
- 1:00:43We were talking about that Primus tour we're covering
- 1:00:45tonight, but absolutely wild in LA.
- 1:00:51This was joined by Danny Carey of Tool, Trey and Matt from
- 1:00:56South Park, as well as Bill Burr on the drums.
- 1:00:59Holy shit. Kind of cool.
- 1:01:02Kind of cool. Also author and Punisher, one of
- 1:01:06the coolest bands around, has announced a new album and drop
- 1:01:09the new single today. pre-orders are live now from Relapse
- 1:01:12Records. And that is all the news.
- 1:01:15That's all the news that's fit to print, all the news that's
- 1:01:18fit to talk about. And now we're going to do the
- 1:01:20New Music Friday, and I'm going to talk a little bit about it
- 1:01:24and tell you what new albums are kind of a the lightest week of
- 1:01:27the summer is this week in terms of what is out there and what is
- 1:01:34possible. So we do a preview every week
- 1:01:37and then we share and tag bands and labels.
- 1:01:40So here's some stuff coming out this week that you might need to
- 1:01:42know about. Ashes of Aries is the band
- 1:01:46featuring former members of Ice the Earth.
- 1:01:49New Messiahs on Rock of Angels Records for your progressive

- 1:04:03This was Joey Jordison of Slipknot's band and then he
- 1:04:05passed away. This band is back now with Fred
- 1:04:08Leclerc. He's the main songwriter of this
- 1:04:10band and Sensatum. I can't barely say this name,
- 1:04:16but I interviewed Fred. That's going to come out soon
- 1:04:19also and also album features Sean Zatorski of Doth and Atela
- 1:04:25Shar of Mayhem on vocals. Holy Funk, Talicott self-titled

- 1:05:04compilation, charity compilation supporting No Kill Shelters and
- 1:05:07Voller and Cares followers have been, we followed for a long
- 1:05:11time, convinced doom metal band from Toronto that has electric
- 1:05:15violin instead of guitar. Reckless Spirit.
- 1:05:19This is a collab record. So that is all the new music out
- 1:05:23from New Music Friday. I'm going to go put myself back.
- 1:05:27Hey, it's me. I've been off camera for a
- 1:05:29minute and we're going to do the mailbag and then we're going to
- 1:05:31lock it up and go home. So here we go this week in the
- 1:05:38mailbag or slide or two there. I'm going the wrong way.
- 1:05:44One more thing in the mailbag this week.
- 1:05:46So first of all, I got this cool shirt in the mail from Hades.
- 1:05:49I interviewed Dan Lorenzo of Patriarchs in Black.
- 1:05:51That's the doom star of Rock Band.
- 1:05:54He has with Johnny Kelly of Type O Negative Sun Don't Shine.
- 1:05:58I am whatever they're called Quiet Riot.
- 1:06:01Johnny's awesome. I grew up watching this band
- 1:06:04Hades a lot in New York City, tri-state area.
- 1:06:07So he sent me this shirt as a thank you, which is super cool.
- 1:06:10And then I got another package in the mail last week.
- 1:06:13So the day this was sent out to me is the day Ozzy died and
- 1:06:17ghost cultist Chris Elliott, who moved from Seattle to Western
- 1:06:21Massachusetts, going to start covering a lot of stuff out
- 1:06:23there for us. You might know him and have seen
- 1:06:26his video stuff on YouTube that he has posted and shared a lot
- 1:06:30of stuff out there of concerts. He's great at filming concerts.
- 1:06:35So it's just kind of his passion to film underground metal
- 1:06:37concerts and sometimes bigger ones.
- 1:06:39So he sent me this thing. I took his address off
- 1:06:41obviously, but the box says RIP Ozzy and then Ozzy rolls on the
- 1:06:45back. So Chris sent me this and I
- 1:06:47wanted to kind of share this stuff.
- 1:06:50What he sent me do have a It's partially opened.
- 1:07:13He sent me this pack and it's beautifully packed with bubble
- 1:07:19wrap and other stuff. He sent me a gang of stuff.
- 1:07:29So he sent me this Year of the Cobra, Into the Fray, The Black
- 1:07:34Sun. I'm a big fan of Year of the
- 1:07:36Cobra. I don't know if you are too.
- 1:07:37Again, if you love sludge and do metal, this is a band I think
- 1:07:41you would be into. Should definitely check them
- 1:07:44out. He sent me acd of Some Noorie.
- 1:07:48This is killer. I love this band from New York
- 1:07:50City. We've interviewed them.
- 1:07:51We've interviewed both you or the Cobra and Some Noorie here
- 1:07:54is grown with their album Grovel.
- 1:07:57I am not familiar with this band, but I'm going to check
- 1:07:59them out. He clearly wanted me to check
- 1:08:01them out and then he sent me some cool stickers.
- 1:08:06Looks like some subversive stuff.
- 1:08:11They ruin nature so that you must rely on them.
- 1:08:15Very fun. Cool, some anti corporate stuff.
- 1:08:19The dead shall feed the living here.
- 1:08:21Something on mushrooms. Kind of want to shroom out now.
- 1:08:25And soulless beasts. We find ourselves lost in new
- 1:08:28jungles and it's like it's like a city.
- 1:08:32Could be Seattle, could be New York City, could be Boston,
- 1:08:35could be San Francisco, could be LA.
- 1:08:37Thanks Chris for sending this along.
- 1:08:39You are a homie and a true friend.
- 1:08:43And and this is a picture of some Newry here.
- 1:08:46And that's the show in a very manageable one hour and 8
- 1:08:48minutes. Corey Pierce is passing by with
- 1:08:51up homie. We'll be talking about some God
- 1:08:54Forbid and Disciples of Verity stuff very soon.
- 1:08:59And yeah, thanks to everybody for watching and tuning in and
- 1:09:02chiming in. Dillinger Compound.
- 1:09:03Thank you. Everybody else watching on
- 1:09:05TikTok and Instagram and Facebook and Twitch and
- 1:09:10everywhere else. Thank you.
- 1:09:12And as we say every week at this juncture, the show is a tough
- 1:09:14time in the world. So please take care of
- 1:09:16yourselves, take care of each other and stay as metal as
- 1:09:19humanly possible. Do not drink and drive.
- 1:09:21Be safe out there this weekend and have a good time.
- 1:09:25Keep it metal. We'll see you soon.
- 1:09:26I'm going to dance a jig on the way out.
- 1:09:28But you do this, junior. I'm going to dance a jig and.
