Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: My name is Craig Way. Glad to have you with us,
- 0:02Speaker 1: and us includes, of course, the producer of this program.
- 0:06Speaker 1: He hails from Charlotte, North Carolina, but his name Cameron D. Parker.
- 0:12Speaker 1: The D in the birth certificate stands for Dallas, as
- 0:15Speaker 1: in the name of his favorite NFL team that he
- 0:18Speaker 1: steadfastly refuses to watch because he's thoroughly disgusted with him.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But it was his father who named in that, and
- 0:23Speaker 1: yet his father's also disgusted by it at all. This way,
- 0:26Speaker 1: he isn't completely sworn off watching them like you have live,
- 0:30Speaker 1: has he? He's pretty close, is he.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I'm not sure if he'll watch this week's game against
- 0:36Speaker 2: San Francisco.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he depends on his work schedule.
- 0:38Speaker 2: But yeah, I think he's also just as disgusted with
- 0:42Speaker 2: them as I am.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Okay, And that's why we'd like to have fun with
- 0:46Speaker 1: Cam on this because you know, when you're that disgusted
- 0:50Speaker 1: with the Dallas Cowboys, at the top of your discuss
- 0:54Speaker 1: list with that organization has to be the man at
- 0:57Speaker 1: the top of the organization, right, of course it would
- 0:59Speaker 1: be Jerry Jones number one. Yeah, So Jerry Jones, the
- 1:03Speaker 1: owner of the president of the GM the chief cook
- 1:05Speaker 1: and bottle washer, all of that kind of stuff for
- 1:08Speaker 1: the Cowboys. Well, Jerry of Lake has become a rather
- 1:12Speaker 1: entertaining subject. He always kind of has been anyway as lotstuff,
- 1:15Speaker 1: but he really has of late last week after that
- 1:22Speaker 1: just real uninspiring effort and being blown out by the Lions,
- 1:27Speaker 1: he kind of blew up at his weekly radio host.
- 1:30Speaker 1: He does a segment. He doesn't do like a whole
- 1:32Speaker 1: hour thing like he did. I count myself fortunate in
- 1:35Speaker 1: having hosted his show for a couple of years during
- 1:38Speaker 1: the Super Bowl thing and the conversations were golden. Well
- 1:41Speaker 1: they've gotten even more golden since. And he does a
- 1:44Speaker 1: segment every week one O five three the Fan in
- 1:47Speaker 1: Dallas for Worth, the Cowboys flagship station, does it with RJ.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Choppy and Shawn Sheriff and there's somebody else. There's a
- 1:54Speaker 1: third person. I can't remember, it was three guys he's
- 1:57Speaker 1: usually on with up there, because I was on with
- 2:00Speaker 1: him the other day preview in the Georgia game. But anyway,
- 2:04Speaker 1: he got a little irritated last week with him kind
- 2:07Speaker 1: of got in their face a little bit and later
- 2:09Speaker 1: told an interviewer that if he has to replace him,
- 2:13Speaker 1: he would replay or something like that if he needed
- 2:15Speaker 1: to or something like that. Well, he obviously hadn't done that,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and he continued to do the radio show, and so
- 2:23Speaker 1: he did something this morning, and there were some more
- 2:25Speaker 1: Jerry Jones gems. So we're going to bring those to
- 2:28Speaker 1: you as well. We'll obviously talk more college football Texas
- 2:35Speaker 1: and Vanderbilt this week. Our man, our colleague, our sideline reporter,
- 2:40Speaker 1: Will Matthews gets an opportunity to spend some time with
- 2:42Speaker 1: the players and he sits down with different ones. So
- 2:44Speaker 1: we've got a few of those conversations that will bring
- 2:47Speaker 1: to you this afternoon. This is also what we like
- 2:50Speaker 1: to call it Texas Tuesday, where we talk about Texas
- 2:54Speaker 1: to talk about the long Horns, but also we talk
- 2:57Speaker 1: about college football in the state of Texas and high
- 3:00Speaker 1: school football in the state of Texas. Toward that end,
- 3:03Speaker 1: Greg Tapper, the managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine,
- 3:06Speaker 1: joins us in the three o'clock hour each Tuesday to
- 3:08Speaker 1: discuss football on those levels in the lone Star state.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So we'll do that as well, so we get a
- 3:13Speaker 1: lot of things good we have inconceivable coming up a
- 3:16Speaker 1: little bit later on this hour, so we have all
- 3:19Speaker 1: of those things that'll be going down. Did you watch
- 3:23Speaker 1: the Monday night football kind of double header doubleheader if
- 3:27Speaker 1: you had ESPN Plus, which I know you do not
- 3:31Speaker 1: everybody that I have a brother and who lives in
- 3:33Speaker 1: Fort Worth who doesn't have it. So he was counting
- 3:35Speaker 1: on me for updates on Chargers Cardinals because he likes
- 3:38Speaker 1: the Chargers, so I was kind of updated. I sent
- 3:40Speaker 1: him a picture of it. It's a very colorful game
- 3:42Speaker 1: to night. But the Cardinals wearing that all black, the
- 3:46Speaker 1: black jersey, the black helmet with the red bird head
- 3:49Speaker 1: on the side and the red numerals, and then the
- 3:51Speaker 1: Chargers had the white helmets and the white jerseys with
- 3:54Speaker 1: the powder blue numerals and the bright yellow pants as well.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It's colorful game, colorful to watch. Not colorful in the
- 4:03Speaker 1: way it was contested. It was one of the more dull,
- 4:09Speaker 1: uninteresting games in terms of The Chargers got five field
- 4:13Speaker 1: goals and was almost enough to win the game until
- 4:16Speaker 1: the Cardinals got down the field late and won on
- 4:18Speaker 1: a walk off field goals seventeen to fifteen. But it
- 4:20Speaker 1: wasn't much on the other side. He had the Ravens
- 4:23Speaker 1: and the Box and it was really built as being
- 4:26Speaker 1: real high scoring and it was for Baltimore. And then
- 4:30Speaker 1: later I guess the Bucks ended up scoring what late
- 4:34Speaker 1: in the game got it to within forty one thirty one,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but that was as close as they were going to
- 4:37Speaker 1: get once the Ravens took command of that game in
- 4:39Speaker 1: the second or so. Did you get a chance to
- 4:40Speaker 1: watch these games? I did.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I got a little pick a ball in last night,
- 4:44Speaker 2: had a head up on my phone and they had
- 4:46Speaker 2: like a big screen TV of the Ravens Bucks game,
- 4:49Speaker 2: and then I forgot the Manning cast was on. So
- 4:51Speaker 2: when I got on, I put on the Manning cast
- 4:53Speaker 2: in time for Scott Hansen.
- 4:55Speaker 1: How about his TV setup? Man, that's the man Cave.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yeah to have. There was a golden moment in it
- 5:02Speaker 1: where he did like a red zone update of the
- 5:06Speaker 1: other game going on. It was really funny and it
- 5:08Speaker 1: made a lot of people laugh, and I said, there
- 5:10Speaker 1: were a lot of social media things about it. He
- 5:12Speaker 1: did it, that was that was pretty cool. Then he
- 5:13Speaker 1: wanted to do one later and he was basically telling
- 5:15Speaker 1: games kind of boring. Nothing's really happening there still seven
- 5:18Speaker 1: to six, it was kind of and then Joe Flaccowan
- 5:22Speaker 1: was quite entertaining, yeah with them, So there was there
- 5:27Speaker 1: was a Bill Belichick, of course did the first half.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Ed Reid was on there, and Ed appeared as if
- 5:37Speaker 1: to give the indication that he was not about to
- 5:40Speaker 1: let a football game get in the way of having
- 5:42Speaker 1: a nice time. He was just kind of chilling.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So it was just hanging out. Yeah, But it was
- 5:47Speaker 2: a good night for Texas kickers, with Justin Tucker two
- 5:52Speaker 2: for two at that fifty two yardering, Cameron Dicker scoring.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Oh the nine yarder, which which tied what Michael Bagley
- 6:00Speaker 1: for the Charger record for longest.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Field But for him, I know, I think he had
- 6:04Speaker 2: like twenty one Fantasy points and you.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Know he did he did. In mind, he was my
- 6:08Speaker 1: backup kicker. I had Tyler Basket when he didn't get
- 6:10Speaker 1: that many. But they didn't need to thank goodness for
- 6:13Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. Jeesh, Lamar Jackson's the reason I'm now five
- 6:17Speaker 1: and two. It's because of Lamar Jackson. He gave me
- 6:20Speaker 1: thirty nine points and Baker I think had thirty two. Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and he would have had more of not for the
- 6:25Speaker 1: two interceptions. Yeah, and Oh, by the way, I couldn't
- 6:29Speaker 1: even enjoy the full evening without having a casualty Chris Godwin. Yeah, real, sad, Craig.
- 6:35Speaker 2: He's one of the best receivers in the league when
- 6:37Speaker 2: he stays healthy, even with Baker throwing to him. He's
- 6:40Speaker 2: such a fun player to watch him and Mike Evans
- 6:42Speaker 2: that tandem and another season ending injury for him, which
- 6:46Speaker 2: just really sucks. And Mike Evans too, you know, once
- 6:49Speaker 2: again reinjuring that hamstring on what could have been a
- 6:52Speaker 2: touchdown reception for him. So the Buccaneers go from four
- 6:56Speaker 2: and two now to four and three, and they're receiving
- 7:00Speaker 2: unit is completely wiped out. They're gonna have to rely
- 7:03Speaker 2: a lot on Stirling Shepherd, who of course played with
- 7:06Speaker 2: Baker Oklahoma, who is on practice squads to start this year,
- 7:10Speaker 2: and now he's going to be in the receiver one
- 7:12Speaker 2: receiver too. So bad news for Tampa Bay and the
- 7:16Speaker 2: NFC salth just looks it's gross, especially with hew Atlanta
- 7:20Speaker 2: got killed by Seattle and the Saints looked disgusting and well,
- 7:24Speaker 2: you know, Carolina is Carolina.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It's one in a sex. We're good there. Yeah, all right,
- 7:31Speaker 1: So anyway, we've we've got those things on tap and more,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and as always we invite you to, you know, invade
- 7:42Speaker 1: our personal space with your input. We have a text
- 7:46Speaker 1: Laune available and all you have to do is text
- 7:49Speaker 1: the word Texas follow by your question or comment to
- 7:52Speaker 1: eight one five three zero. So just supply your question
- 7:56Speaker 1: comment to eight one five three zero. Stand messaging and
- 8:00Speaker 1: data rates may apply, and you can just let us
- 8:03Speaker 1: know if you've got a question about something, if you've
- 8:05Speaker 1: got some things you want, something else you feel you
- 8:08Speaker 1: need to get off your chest, that's fine too. So
- 8:11Speaker 1: we're glad to take that and to go with that forward.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yesterday we had questions about what happened on the pass
- 8:22Speaker 1: interference that was then reversed, and it happened in the
- 8:26Speaker 1: middle of all the debris being thrown on the field
- 8:28Speaker 1: and all that other stuff, and we addressed that, and
- 8:31Speaker 1: I got into some detail about what I was told
- 8:34Speaker 1: from the officials about why they went over there before
- 8:38Speaker 1: adjudicating the fact that there was not a defensive pass
- 8:42Speaker 1: interference call in fact a penalty, and in fact it
- 8:45Speaker 1: should have been offensive pass interference. So anyway, we talked
- 8:51Speaker 1: about all that, and there's a lot more we'll get
- 8:53Speaker 1: to on all of that.
- 8:53Speaker 2: And if you missed it, the whole clip is posted
- 8:56Speaker 2: on our YouTube page AM thirteen of the Zone, the
- 9:00Speaker 2: full breakdown from Craig Way, which I highly recommend watching.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Okay, all right, it's got that there, all right. Up next,
- 9:06Speaker 1: we highly recommend you tune in and listen to hear
- 9:09Speaker 1: what Jerry Jones had to say today. We'll get to
- 9:11Speaker 1: that coming up on sports Radio AM thirteen under the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Zone and the iHeartRadio app.
