- 0:19Speaker 1: Hey, I do Part two.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It's your celebrity mentor Susan Noles and Batty Schwartz from
- 0:26Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor in our podcast Bachelor Happy Hours Golden Hour.
- 0:32Speaker 1: And we have a lot to cover in today's news.
- 0:34Speaker 2: We're talking divorce trends, splits in so much more in
- 0:39Speaker 2: chapter two.
- 0:40Speaker 1: You ready to get into this.
- 0:42Speaker 3: We got to get into it, and we have got
- 0:44Speaker 3: to start. Have you heard about this new trend with
- 0:47Speaker 3: divorce rings, how women are celebrating their breakups. I can't, Susan.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I mean they're having they're repurposing engagement rings, they're doing parties, tattoos,
- 1:00Speaker 3: wild home renovations like what just happened to simple divorce?
- 1:05Speaker 4: I don't know. What do you think about it?
- 1:08Speaker 1: British Vogue is all about it. It's written up in there,
- 1:11Speaker 1: so it is a thing.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I mean, we all know if Vogue says that it
- 1:14Speaker 3: must be true, right, So here's what I'm hearing about it.
- 1:18Speaker 3: They're putting it a ring on their fingers.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Sometimes it's made of metal.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Sometimes they're you know, repurposing their engagement ring. Remember they
- 1:29Speaker 3: talked about conscious uncoupling.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Yes, well now we're doing like conscious unhitching with jewelry.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know, you know what all celebrate
- 1:41Speaker 2: when we get married and we get a wedding ring,
- 1:43Speaker 2: And why be miserable at your divorce. Let's celebrate it
- 1:47Speaker 2: and put a sign on there that I'm divorced. Sometimes
- 1:51Speaker 2: I think they even tattoo.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Well, here's the thing. I think a lot of women are.
- 1:58Speaker 3: You know, they're having parties, they're bringing their force attorneys state,
- 2:01Speaker 3: they all get together. I think it's a new way
- 2:04Speaker 3: of building community for the divorce women that are, frankly
- 2:10Speaker 3: a larger and larger part of our community. I don't know,
- 2:14Speaker 3: I'm not sure that we'll talk about my ring in
- 2:19Speaker 3: a minute, but go ahead.
- 2:20Speaker 4: What were you gonna say?
- 2:21Speaker 1: The girl and gone girl?
- 2:23Speaker 4: That model Emily Radikalska.
- 2:27Speaker 2: She celebrated her divorce from Sebastian Bear macclair with not one,
- 2:33Speaker 2: but two rings that incorporated the diamonds from her engagement ring.
- 2:38Speaker 1: So this is like a new sport.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I mean, you know, this is called new recycling.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Why sell a diamond ring for a quarter of its value?
- 2:49Speaker 3: Why not just have a new ring made?
- 2:53Speaker 4: But I got to tell you so.
- 2:54Speaker 3: In Vogue they go on to talk about jewelers are
- 2:57Speaker 3: making these rings like it is a thing. Now bind
- 3:03Speaker 3: a ring, wearing it proudly, a lavish I don't know,
- 3:07Speaker 3: a divorce ring.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You wear it on the same finger, or I'd probably
- 3:10Speaker 2: wear it on my middle finger because i won't want
- 3:12Speaker 2: somebody else to think I'm not taking So.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 3:17Speaker 3: It's a whole new thing for social media. Flash your ice,
- 3:19Speaker 3: your new ice on social media. But here's what I
- 3:23Speaker 3: want to know. If I'm gonna wear one, and I'm
- 3:27Speaker 3: surprised you wouldn't say this, do you know what finger
- 3:29Speaker 3: I'd wear it on? And I think a lot of
- 3:31Speaker 3: women are doing this the middle one because it can
- 3:35Speaker 3: it sends a message in so many ways.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know what I think about.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Did you hear there's divorce cakes, divorce party games?
- 3:47Speaker 1: I mean, pin the tail on the X anyone?
- 3:52Speaker 4: I don't what do you think about it? Though?
- 3:54Speaker 3: Like, I'm not sure? So you know I'm a widow
- 3:57Speaker 3: your divorce? What'd you do with your diamond ring?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Actually my kids benefited from it because the Centerson, my
- 4:05Speaker 2: first son was getting engaged and he couldn't afford what
- 4:09Speaker 2: he wanted, so I gave him that My at first
- 4:13Speaker 2: my daughter had it, and then they that didn't work out,
- 4:16Speaker 2: and I had it set in a Christopher had it
- 4:19Speaker 2: set in a ring for Jessica, my daughter in law.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's great.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Well how about you, Well, yours wasn't a Morris obviously
- 4:26Speaker 2: my husband died.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I it's funny. I wear my diamond ring on my
- 4:32Speaker 3: right hand. But you know what I've noticed and aren't
- 4:36Speaker 3: so smart they can't tell right now, They're like, oh,
- 4:41Speaker 3: she's married, So I've stopped wearing it.
- 4:44Speaker 4: If I go out, I just wear like nothing on.
- 4:47Speaker 1: A necklace or have a bracelet mate or something.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I don't know because I'm you know what I'm going
- 4:51Speaker 3: to do with that. I'm going to give it to
- 4:52Speaker 3: my granddaughter.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Okay, we'll see eventually.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But but wait, we're not just so. It's not just
- 4:58Speaker 3: rings that people are doing. They there's paintings, like doing
- 5:04Speaker 3: their own mural. Apparently Jessica Alba did one after filing
- 5:09Speaker 3: for divorce from her husband Cash Warren, Like, I want
- 5:13Speaker 3: to burn it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: That one broke my heart. I love them together. Nicole
- 5:19Speaker 1: Kidman and Keith Urban.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And Jennifer Aniston Andreith Rereith's Witherspoon are said to be
- 5:27Speaker 2: throwing a big one for her after her split.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Okay, but here's the thing. Here's the thing.
- 5:33Speaker 3: When the celebration's over, let's let's let's go here, Susan.
- 5:37Speaker 5: We got we got our divorce rings, we've got our tattoos,
- 5:41Speaker 5: We've had our parties, we've had a mural, We've got
- 5:43Speaker 5: a tattoo that some of them are doing that says
- 5:46Speaker 5: life is transformation is life?
- 5:48Speaker 4: Like? Okay, once we've done all this and.
- 5:52Speaker 3: You know we've we hate the man, We've made it
- 5:54Speaker 3: in all of our social media.
- 5:56Speaker 4: We're done. When do we come back around to?
- 6:01Speaker 3: And maybe not him, but you know, maybe I want
- 6:04Speaker 3: to get married again. I mean, if I were a guy,
- 6:06Speaker 3: I'd like, I'm not touch her with a ten foot fall.
- 6:09Speaker 4: She's gonna have me on a billboard somewhere.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And also, Kathy, this is saying that both parties wanted
- 6:15Speaker 2: the divorce to have a celebration like this. That means
- 6:18Speaker 2: both Sometimes that does happen and they they agree they're
- 6:22Speaker 2: not meant to be and they go their separate ways.
- 6:24Speaker 1: That I can understand. How like this well person sad
- 6:28Speaker 1: over it.
- 6:29Speaker 3: I don't think husband and wives are having these party
- 6:32Speaker 3: divorcees are having this party together. I think Jennifer Aniston,
- 6:36Speaker 3: Nicole Kinman, these women are having these parties.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I do not think.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I do not think the X or Y chromosome, whichever
- 6:44Speaker 3: one men is.
- 6:46Speaker 4: That men are. I think they're X. They're not invited.
- 6:49Speaker 3: But I'm just saying it's it's uh, it's a lot.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I mean, it is a lot.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Didn't Rachel Zoe from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
- 7:00Speaker 2: just do this?
- 7:01Speaker 4: Yeah, she was married over twenty years. You know what
- 7:03Speaker 4: it says to me?
- 7:04Speaker 3: Honestly, it's like I'd rather I mean, this is a
- 7:10Speaker 3: big public statement about divorce. I hate you. I'm going
- 7:14Speaker 3: to have a party. I'm going to tack tooo how
- 7:15Speaker 3: much I hate you. Then I'm going to burn something
- 7:18Speaker 3: in effigy of you.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I don't think of the focus like that. Like for me,
- 7:22Speaker 2: for instance, we're really good friends. We do things together
- 7:26Speaker 2: still with our grandkids. And also not everybody is the
- 7:29Speaker 2: I hate ours was more like we can't.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Yeah, we are.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Also, with all due respect, you're not Nicole Kidman, You're
- 7:35Speaker 3: not Jefferson, You're not in you know, they have children,
- 7:40Speaker 3: they have I heard the funniest thing the other day
- 7:42Speaker 3: about Nicole Kidman's divorce from Keith Urban, Like, yeah, he's
- 7:50Speaker 3: you know, I let me just say publicly.
- 7:53Speaker 4: I don't think i'd want to do it.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I get it, they're public, but we got to move
- 7:57Speaker 3: on to the next one.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Okay, else split you're ready?
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yep?
- 8:02Speaker 2: I o'cook and Amanda Bachelor announced their separation after four.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Years of marriage. We're going to go their separate ways.
- 8:11Speaker 2: They post it to their Instagram stories on Monday till nineteenth.
- 8:18Speaker 2: What they say, we have mutually and amicably decided to
- 8:22Speaker 2: part ways as a couple. We share this heavy heart
- 8:25Speaker 2: and kindly ask for your grace and support while we
- 8:29Speaker 2: focus on our personal growth and healing. And it feels
- 8:34Speaker 2: ironic for them to ask for privacy when their whole
- 8:38Speaker 2: marriage was public.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, but they say, they said, it feels ironic
- 8:43Speaker 3: to ask for privacy during this time, since we've always
- 8:45Speaker 3: tried to be open and honest about our relationship. But
- 8:49Speaker 3: your kindness and respect will go a long way as
- 8:51Speaker 3: we try to navigate our chapter. And the statement concluded
- 8:56Speaker 3: with him signing a man and Kyle.
- 8:58Speaker 2: He's forty three thirty four. They got engaged in and
- 9:03Speaker 2: tied the knot in twenty one. It was actually postponed
- 9:07Speaker 2: due to COVID and it.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Was right here in Jersey, you know.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And throughout their relationship, which was documented on Summerhouse, pair
- 9:17Speaker 2: has been open about their struggles. In season three of
- 9:23Speaker 2: the Bravo series, which aired in March of twenty nineteen,
- 9:27Speaker 2: Cook confessed to cheating on her, claiming the blackout during
- 9:33Speaker 2: the guy's trip and woke up with a girl in
- 9:36Speaker 2: his bed, and recent rumors that they had split began
- 9:41Speaker 2: to squirrel when Bachelor claimed that Cook spent the night
- 9:44Speaker 2: at a fans apartment in the.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Trailer for season ten of Summerhouse.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Come on, I mean, yeah, Kyle was sleeping some fans apartment.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It came home at like six thirty in the morning.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I mean seriously, so so Amanda. You know, she's told
- 10:06Speaker 3: Clara Miller and Lindsey Hubbard there expressing their disapproval. That's
- 10:11Speaker 3: like saying the sun rises in the east. I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 3: but here's the thing. They're young.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Cook's forty three, she's thirty four. They're young. It's public.
- 10:22Speaker 4: It shouldn't be public.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Well, their whole I mean else was public, so why
- 10:26Speaker 2: shouldn't that be public.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Well, that's what humor's about, the masking now for privacy.
- 10:32Speaker 2: My advice to them do it nice and move on.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Thirty four years old, you got a whole life ahead
- 10:38Speaker 2: of you, right.
- 10:39Speaker 3: My advice is, get out of the limelight anyway you can.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Do not take out a billboard, do not burn an effigy,
- 10:47Speaker 3: do not.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Is she going to get a divorce ring?
- 10:50Speaker 3: I would know she's going to join Jennifer Anson the
- 10:53Speaker 3: rest of the crew and have a big party. I
- 10:55Speaker 3: got to say, though, Susan, it's got to be difficult
- 10:57Speaker 3: for these Hollywood people to you know, do you want
- 11:01Speaker 3: it publicly known that your husband, a recent ex wakes
- 11:05Speaker 3: up with a van? I mean, really, do you want?
- 11:10Speaker 4: I don't want to know that? All right now we're
- 11:13Speaker 4: going to move on to p K. Kemsley.
- 11:16Speaker 3: He's made a bold statement on his life amid divorce.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Paul p K.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Kemsley is sharing a new look at his life today.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Amid his divorce from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
- 11:28Speaker 3: cast member Darree Kemsley. PK has been so incredibly busy
- 11:33Speaker 3: with his life and job as Boy Georgia's talent manager.
- 11:37Speaker 3: The UK native has taken to Instagram who hasn't over
- 11:42Speaker 3: the past few months, where he revealed several new looks
- 11:46Speaker 3: at his life, including that he has been gearing up
- 11:49Speaker 3: for boy George's US tour, which by the way, begins
- 11:52Speaker 3: in February, hanging out with some old friends called pairing
- 11:56Speaker 3: the two children that he shares with Deret and ringing
- 11:59Speaker 3: in the new with his dad, Kenny Counseley. But p
- 12:02Speaker 3: K is ready for a break from his busy lifestyle,
- 12:07Speaker 3: so the entrepreneur took to his Instagram story on January fifteenth,
- 12:11Speaker 3: where he posted a photo of himself sitting against a bar,
- 12:15Speaker 3: looking directly into the camera with his salt and pepper
- 12:19Speaker 3: colored hair into a neat cooff dear life, he says,
- 12:25Speaker 3: I've had enough of the bull blankety blank, he wrote
- 12:29Speaker 3: over the photo.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Can we take a break? Please?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Dreat and Pik are still married as their divorce has
- 12:37Speaker 3: not yet been finalized. The mom of two appeared on
- 12:40Speaker 3: Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on January fifteenth,
- 12:43Speaker 3: where she revealed to host Andy Cohen that things are
- 12:47Speaker 3: still rough between her and her strange husband.
- 12:51Speaker 4: You don't know how much I would love to be
- 12:52Speaker 4: sitting here.
- 12:54Speaker 3: You asking me that question and say, yeah, Sandy, things
- 12:57Speaker 3: are so much better. This is coming from to read.
- 13:01Speaker 3: But she admitted that was not the case. No, she added,
- 13:04Speaker 3: shaking her head from side to side.
- 13:06Speaker 4: I don't know, Susan.
- 13:08Speaker 2: You got to respect her for not just going off.
- 13:10Speaker 2: You know, she's keeping it low key. She's not going
- 13:14Speaker 2: to announce it with Andy on TV.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Like. You got to respect that.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but here, I mean, listen, public divorce is public divorce.
- 13:26Speaker 3: But you know she's not being all that above board either.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I believe she's told him or called him an alcoholic,
- 13:32Speaker 3: which you know he may or may not be. Here's
- 13:35Speaker 3: the thing, when you're in the public eye, when you're
- 13:37Speaker 3: on a public.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Television show, meaning you know, Beverly.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Housewives, Housewife's Beverly Hills, if you're in the public eye,
- 13:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I think it's asking a lot to your
- 13:47Speaker 3: fans who have put you where you are to say,
- 13:50Speaker 3: you know what, leave us alone, don't make any comments.
- 13:54Speaker 3: We want our privacy. You can have it both ways,
- 13:57Speaker 3: That's what I think.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Well you think o him.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Look in the camera and say, dear life, I've had
- 14:02Speaker 2: enough of this bullsh please, and she's just like no.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Well, and here's my thing. He might have had enough
- 14:09Speaker 3: of it. Does he want the paychecks to keep coming?
- 14:12Speaker 3: I'm guessing that, Okay, the next one. I'm tortured by
- 14:17Speaker 3: the next one because I love this guy, Like I
- 14:20Speaker 3: envisioned myself meeting this guy in of Starbucks and he's
- 14:24Speaker 3: the Dermott mulrooney. You having him said to me, you
- 14:28Speaker 3: are the girl that I've wanted my whole life.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Dancing with him at the wedding like this is my man.
- 14:34Speaker 1: One of my favorite shows movies.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Right.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Dermott settles divorce from Prima outside of court.
- 14:42Speaker 1: You know he's sixty two for me.
- 14:45Speaker 2: His own lawyer filed a declaration for an uncontested dissolution
- 14:51Speaker 2: of the marriage on Friday, January sixteenth, According to documents
- 14:55Speaker 2: obtained by People, The filing reveals that the cup reached
- 15:00Speaker 2: a settlement through meditation.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Outside of it's through mediation, mediation. I beg you for
- 15:07Speaker 1: I thought they were meditating.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Well, he probably probably needs to. I'm saying, first of all,
- 15:14Speaker 3: after they meditated and mediated, good for them that they
- 15:19Speaker 3: got it done outside of court, right, Good for them.
- 15:22Speaker 3: But all I want to know is where is he now?
- 15:25Speaker 4: Stop? Stop? Wait?
- 15:27Speaker 2: He also is representing himself, and I know that it
- 15:32Speaker 2: addresses payment of attorney fees, spousal and child support, as
- 15:37Speaker 2: well as custody and visitation matters regarding their two daughters. Unbelievable, Like,
- 15:44Speaker 2: I think that's kind of smart. Mabel Ray seventeen and
- 15:47Speaker 2: Sally june Is fifteen. Once a judge signs off, the
- 15:52Speaker 2: divorce will be finalized.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Okay, but here's the thing, it doesn't happen very often.
- 15:57Speaker 3: He filed in June of twenty twenty five, so six
- 16:01Speaker 3: months ago, after fifteen years of marriage, citing what most
- 16:05Speaker 3: people do, irreconcilable differences and listing the data separation as
- 16:11Speaker 3: TBD to be determined. In the initial filing, he asked
- 16:15Speaker 3: that he and his soon to be ex wife split
- 16:18Speaker 3: attorney's fees and that they share joint physical and legal
- 16:22Speaker 3: custody of their minor children. Susan, you know, I have
- 16:25Speaker 3: not been divorced, but this is pretty standard. This is
- 16:28Speaker 3: pretty standard legal legally. You know we're gonna we're gonna
- 16:32Speaker 3: have joint custody. Blah blah blah.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Easy.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Nobody is asking for anything, not one is denying anything.
- 16:40Speaker 1: They're not arguing over the children or the money.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Right, they use mediators not lawyers as they are friends.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I love this, Okay, is amicable.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Can I just say to you, you know how long
- 16:54Speaker 3: they're going to stay friends. They're going to stay friends
- 16:57Speaker 3: until one of them meets somebody else.
- 17:00Speaker 1: This, No, it does happen, Kathy, Well.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Listen, Can I just tell you when I meet him
- 17:06Speaker 3: at Starbucks in LA I don't care if he's got
- 17:10Speaker 3: twenty children, he is going to be mine.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I mean, I hate to say.
- 17:14Speaker 3: It was happier he got divorced, but this guy, ever
- 17:18Speaker 3: since my best friend's wedding, I was like, where is he?
- 17:20Speaker 4: Where is he?
- 17:22Speaker 1: And Lucky Julia Roberts that's million dollars smile.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well I got one of those too. He's not
- 17:29Speaker 3: gonna be able to resist me.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Melissa Gilbert cries court as her husband Timothy is released
- 17:46Speaker 2: from jail WAF facing child's sex abuse charge.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Okay, So, after a two hour pre trial detention hearing
- 17:54Speaker 3: in New Mexico District Court on Tuesday, January twenty one,
- 17:58Speaker 3: a judge ruled at the sixty eight years old will
- 18:02Speaker 3: be released with conditions while he awaits trial as he
- 18:08Speaker 3: faces charges as child sex abius. All right, given the
- 18:14Speaker 3: lack and this is what the judge had, given the
- 18:17Speaker 3: lack of a pattern involving children in this case, I
- 18:20Speaker 3: think that can be remedied through different conditions of release.
- 18:24Speaker 3: He said this in part while delivering his decision, quote,
- 18:28Speaker 3: I don't find that there's been sufficient presentation that this
- 18:31Speaker 3: defendant may commit new crimes in released pending trial. There's
- 18:36Speaker 3: no evidence of a pattern of criminal conduct. There are
- 18:40Speaker 3: no similar allegations involving children in his past. There is
- 18:43Speaker 3: no evidence of non compliance with prior court orders. Rather,
- 18:49Speaker 3: this defendant self surrendered and submitted himself to the court jurisdiction,
- 18:53Speaker 3: demonstrating compliance with the court order for his arrest. The
- 18:57Speaker 3: judge continued, I cannot find that the state is proven
- 19:00Speaker 3: by clear and convincing evidence that there are no release
- 19:03Speaker 3: conditions that would reasonably protect the safety of any younger
- 19:07Speaker 3: person in the community.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Let me just say to you, this is a.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Lot of legalese legal jargons saying there almost doesn't sound
- 19:15Speaker 3: like there is enough information to bring a court case
- 19:19Speaker 3: against him.
- 19:21Speaker 1: What brought in there, Like, you gotta think about that.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Well, what brought him?
- 19:24Speaker 3: There were two kids said years ago that he molested them,
- 19:30Speaker 3: but apparently they were fired on set for behavior cause
- 19:34Speaker 3: I don't know why they were fired. And you know,
- 19:36Speaker 3: now how many years later we're gonna take it to court.
- 19:40Speaker 3: After being released on his own recognizance, Busfield has been
- 19:44Speaker 3: ordered to appear for all his future court dates and
- 19:47Speaker 3: is not allowed to possess any firearms or dangerous weapons,
- 19:50Speaker 3: consume any alcohol or illegal drugs, have contact with the
- 19:54Speaker 3: alleged victims or their families, discussed the case of any witnesses,
- 19:58Speaker 3: or have unsupervised contact with any minor children. The judge
- 20:02Speaker 3: is allowing Busfield to travel, but he will be under
- 20:05Speaker 3: the supervision of pre trial services in New Mexico and
- 20:09Speaker 3: must notify the court of his address. Upon hearing the news,
- 20:12Speaker 3: Busfield's wife, Melissa Gilbert was seeing crime and whispering, thank
- 20:16Speaker 3: you God, it makes it gives me the chills, Susan.
- 20:19Speaker 1: That sounds like she was being supportive.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Such she was, She wrote a letter to the judge.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Gilbert supported her husband from the courtroom, along with her
- 20:26Speaker 3: eighty nine year old mom, Barbara Cowan, and her son Michael,
- 20:30Speaker 3: and Busfield civil lawyer Larry Steen. Busfield's brother Buck Busfield
- 20:35Speaker 3: was also in.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Attendance at the hearing.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Gilbert previously voiced her support, told I just said this
- 20:41Speaker 3: or her husband in a letter.
- 20:43Speaker 4: To the judge in this case.
- 20:45Speaker 3: In the defendant's response in opposition to the state's motion
- 20:48Speaker 3: for pre trial detention fouled on January sixteenth, Gilbert was
- 20:53Speaker 3: one of seventy five I want you to hear that,
- 20:56Speaker 3: seventy five people who wrote letters of support. She called
- 20:59Speaker 3: Busfield my life, my rock, my partner in business and life,
- 21:03Speaker 3: adding that she knows him better and more intimately than
- 21:06Speaker 3: anything in his life ever has. I'm trying to tow
- 21:09Speaker 3: a line between logic and all the frailings strolling around me.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I began this letter with logic, but now the feelings
- 21:16Speaker 3: have taken over. I can't help it, she wrote. I
- 21:19Speaker 3: only want this extraordinary man safe and whole. So I
- 21:22Speaker 3: will close by asking you to please please take care
- 21:25Speaker 3: of my sweet husband, as he is my protector. I
- 21:28Speaker 3: am his, but I cannot protect him now, and I
- 21:31Speaker 3: think that, more than anything else, is what is truly
- 21:34Speaker 3: breaking my heart. I am relying on you to protect
- 21:38Speaker 3: him for me, and he first appeared. I know.
- 21:41Speaker 4: It's amazing.
- 21:41Speaker 3: He first appeared in front of a judge on Wednesday,
- 21:45Speaker 3: January fourteenth, after he was officially charged with two counts
- 21:49Speaker 3: of criminal sexual conduct of a minor that's a child
- 21:52Speaker 3: under thirteen and one kind of child abuse on January thirteenth,
- 21:55Speaker 3: according to prosecutors, Okay, here's what I got to say.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I want to hear your opinion. First of all, the
- 22:02Speaker 3: fact that seventy five people came to him, he turned
- 22:05Speaker 3: himself in. You know, there was a worn't for his arrest.
- 22:08Speaker 3: He drove to turn himself in. Seventy five letters from
- 22:12Speaker 3: We're not talking the mailman and the guy that works
- 22:15Speaker 3: at the grocery store. These are seventy five people out
- 22:17Speaker 3: of Hollywood who are putting their names on the line
- 22:21Speaker 3: to protect this guy, to stand.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Up for him. What do you think. I think it's
- 22:25Speaker 4: amazing myself. What do you think?
- 22:26Speaker 2: I think it's outstanding that people actually believe in him
- 22:30Speaker 2: and believe him like this could have been a case
- 22:32Speaker 2: of people looking for money. They're going to say he
- 22:35Speaker 2: did something that he didn't. That's the problem here. So
- 22:39Speaker 2: many I could never be a judge. I think I've
- 22:41Speaker 2: said this to you before so many people. You're innocent
- 22:45Speaker 2: until proven guilty, but not really based.
- 22:49Speaker 4: On what the judge says, there's no there's no grants.
- 22:52Speaker 2: But anyone that gets a sexual abuse charge to a minor,
- 22:56Speaker 2: to a child, it's an automatic.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I hate you go to jail.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:01Speaker 1: They don't even give him the bet.
- 23:02Speaker 2: That's why seventy five different people stood up for him.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Well, I mean, well, everyone's innocent. He'll proven guilty. Yes,
- 23:10Speaker 3: some brings a charge, they have to investigate it. But frankly,
- 23:13Speaker 3: for me, based on what the judge has said, he
- 23:17Speaker 3: said it's got no history of this. He is no
- 23:19Speaker 3: history to that. Like, where is this coming from? I
- 23:21Speaker 3: personally hope he gets off. I don't think it's true.
- 23:24Speaker 2: For her to write that letter and her emotional part
- 23:27Speaker 2: taking over pleading with this judge. Some people like even
- 23:33Speaker 2: at like a death of a child, not comparing to this,
- 23:35Speaker 2: But some marriages get even closer together, where other marriages
- 23:40Speaker 2: it's like a big knife right down the middle.
- 23:42Speaker 1: How do you feel this one's going.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I think her support is going to make him love
- 23:48Speaker 2: her even more.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Well, you know that I hang around with a lot
- 23:51Speaker 3: of people in Hollywood and I and so I know
- 23:53Speaker 3: the ins and outs of this.
- 23:54Speaker 4: That's a joke.
- 23:56Speaker 3: But I think the fact that she wrote a letter
- 23:59Speaker 3: to the I think the fact that he turned himself
- 24:02Speaker 3: in and said this is preposterous and very calmly. I
- 24:06Speaker 3: think the fact that she from the very beginning, there
- 24:10Speaker 3: hasn't been one iota from her of questioning him, not one.
- 24:14Speaker 4: She it defends him. Care for the man who's cared
- 24:17Speaker 4: for me.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I think that'll make her marriage even stronger.
- 24:19Speaker 3: I think they've been married, like, I don't know, close
- 24:22Speaker 3: to thirteen years, maybe fourteen. I think they have a
- 24:26Speaker 3: very close marriage. They both were married before they know
- 24:30Speaker 3: what it takes to make a strong marriage. I personally
- 24:33Speaker 3: think this is going to bring him closer together. I
- 24:36Speaker 3: think she's going to fight tooth and nail for his freedom.
- 24:39Speaker 3: And you know what, they have the money.
- 24:41Speaker 2: If God forbid, it was you, okay, and somebody plant
- 24:45Speaker 2: that seed, you have to question that. I know you
- 24:48Speaker 2: love your husband, and I know you think's he's absolutely
- 24:52Speaker 2: not guilty, but there's got to be one moment of
- 24:56Speaker 2: oh my god, could he have or no way?
- 24:59Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Well, I think it's yeah, no,
- 25:02Speaker 3: I think it's human nature to that to say, wait,
- 25:05Speaker 3: to maybe say for a fraction of a second season,
- 25:09Speaker 3: I might say what, and they're absolutely not, or have.
- 25:13Speaker 1: A conversation with him.
- 25:15Speaker 4: You No, never, No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't.
- 25:18Speaker 2: For me, it would probably just blurred out of my mouth,
- 25:21Speaker 2: even though I would not knew. Yeah, oh my god,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I did not do anything like this, did you?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah? I can hear you doing that.
- 25:30Speaker 3: What I'm trying to say is I can't imagine being
- 25:34Speaker 3: married to someone and I know you can't either where
- 25:36Speaker 3: that would be the case. And remember, we don't know.
- 25:40Speaker 3: There is more to this story than what we know.
- 25:43Speaker 3: So given that, I'm guessing there is more to the
- 25:46Speaker 3: story of these kids that we're never going to know
- 25:48Speaker 3: unless it gets to court, and then we're going to
- 25:50Speaker 3: hear all kinds of things.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And it depends on how big it is in court
- 25:54Speaker 2: and how loud it gets, whether it affects.
- 25:57Speaker 1: The marriage or not.
- 25:58Speaker 2: To certain things are said, questions that are asked, Sometimes
- 26:02Speaker 2: you just take a step back and go what the actual.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Okay, let's take a bet now.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I don't think I think their marriage is going to
- 26:10Speaker 3: be a strong, if not stronger.
- 26:12Speaker 1: What do you think that's what I'm hoping for?
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yes, Okay, well, we're gonna keep watching this.
- 26:17Speaker 4: I just I really don't think so.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I hate to say it, but I feel I don't
- 26:22Speaker 3: know how much older these kids are now.
- 26:25Speaker 4: But you said it earlier.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I think sometimes people say something happened, you know, eighteen
- 26:32Speaker 3: years ago, and now he's got some money, I'm gonna
- 26:36Speaker 3: go after it, you know.
- 26:38Speaker 4: So, so I don't know.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I think he's innocent. Let's pray that the judge thinks so.
- 26:44Speaker 2: And it sounds by the way the judge is saying, look,
- 26:47Speaker 2: you're not doing any.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Harm or I'm going to go when all alts fails.
- 26:52Speaker 3: It's their third marriage and the third time is the charm.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll say stick with that and that's your good
- 27:02Speaker 1: luck chart.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Really, oh man, let's get into Shannon and God rest
- 27:17Speaker 2: the soul. Doherty ex husband Kurt is challenging he challenges
- 27:23Speaker 2: the divorce settlement two years after her death. He said
- 27:30Speaker 2: he's filed legal documents, which people obtained in Los Angeles
- 27:34Speaker 2: Superior Court on January fourteenth, nearly two months after her estate,
- 27:40Speaker 2: said he has failed to fulfill several monetary obligations and
- 27:47Speaker 2: provisions of the settlement that the alleged alleged that the
- 27:52Speaker 2: divorce settlement, which was signed by her by Shannon on
- 27:56Speaker 2: July twelfth, twenty twenty four, and Kurt on the following day,
- 28:02Speaker 2: and was finalized just before her death on July thirteenth
- 28:07Speaker 2: that year. Was brought in the wrong court, Kathy. Because
- 28:13Speaker 2: of this, he claimed, the court has no jurisdiction to
- 28:17Speaker 2: enforce the terms of the agreement.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Okay, wait before we continue, Before we continue, let me
- 28:23Speaker 4: just say to you.
- 28:24Speaker 3: You know, the US law is very particular, and people
- 28:28Speaker 3: win on on.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Technicalities all the time.
- 28:33Speaker 3: That's what he's trying to do, right, Well, you know, Okay,
- 28:36Speaker 3: keep going here, Okay, well here, let me give you
- 28:40Speaker 3: some more. He further argued that the divorce case should
- 28:43Speaker 3: have been put to an end when Doherty died after
- 28:45Speaker 3: years long battle with Cancler and the settlement shouldn't have
- 28:49Speaker 3: even been filed per the legal documents. This comes after
- 28:53Speaker 3: Doherty's attorneys and Christopher Cortezzo, trustee of the Shannon Doherty
- 28:59Speaker 3: Family Trust, claimed in a filing on November twenty fourth,
- 29:02Speaker 3: that Israelanko still owes.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Money as part of the divorce settlement. Holy smokes.
- 29:08Speaker 3: This included a provision for him to sell Doherty's one
- 29:12Speaker 3: point five million Texas home and equally divide the net
- 29:16Speaker 3: proceeds with her estate. However, the filing stated that he
- 29:21Speaker 3: has refused to list the Dripping Springs home for sale.
- 29:24Speaker 3: You understand I live twenty minutes from this home. I'm
- 29:27Speaker 3: going to go check it out and see if I
- 29:28Speaker 3: can get it, okay. The filing also claimed that a
- 29:32Speaker 3: photographer was to buy out Doherty's share of a Mooney
- 29:35Speaker 3: M twenty airplane for one hundred thousand and pay that
- 29:38Speaker 3: sum to her estate within five business days of the sale. However,
- 29:42Speaker 3: he allegedly unilaterally withheld fifty two hundred and seventy four
- 29:48Speaker 3: dollars from Doherty's estate after making the sale in August
- 29:51Speaker 3: of twenty twenty four, and as you have to pay
- 29:53Speaker 3: the SUN and.
- 29:56Speaker 2: D Her attorneys noted that that he has also refused
- 30:03Speaker 2: to return Doherty's items of personal property, including photographs of her,
- 30:09Speaker 2: which was another provision of the divorce settlement.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Why couldn't make any photos of her?
- 30:15Speaker 4: Keep going?
- 30:16Speaker 1: I don't get that part.
- 30:17Speaker 4: I got thoughts, Keep going.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Okay?
- 30:22Speaker 2: He contended in his January fourteenth filing that Cortezza can't
- 30:29Speaker 2: Cortano failed to show he has authority under the trust
- 30:35Speaker 2: to have even introduced the motion in the first place.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Doherty filed for divorce in twenty twenty three after eleven
- 30:45Speaker 2: years of marriage. I'm believed her representation, Leslie Sloane, told
- 30:53Speaker 2: people in a statement at the time, divorce is the
- 30:56Speaker 2: last thing Shannon wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she was left
- 31:01Speaker 2: with no other option.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Okay, what he's trying to do.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Can I just say to you, you know who wins
- 31:09Speaker 3: in these cases, not the not the estate of the deceased,
- 31:14Speaker 3: and not her ex husband.
- 31:16Speaker 4: The lawyers, that's the wins.
- 31:18Speaker 3: They're going to argue point after poor, legality over legality,
- 31:24Speaker 3: and anyone you know, is he supposed to send the money?
- 31:28Speaker 4: Is he's supposed to Is the divorce supposed to happen?
- 31:30Speaker 1: The interrupt for one second.
- 31:32Speaker 2: So she passes before they sell the one point five
- 31:37Speaker 2: million dollar home in Texas. If we divide the proceeds
- 31:41Speaker 2: with her estate, Okay, she passed, her estate gets happened.
- 31:49Speaker 1: He gets halp, Is that with this is?
- 31:51Speaker 3: I mean, last time I checked my legal decree from
- 31:53Speaker 3: the law school.
- 31:54Speaker 4: I intended in Texas.
- 31:57Speaker 3: I don't know if you go way back up to
- 31:59Speaker 3: the this whole story began.
- 32:01Speaker 1: He refused to list it.
- 32:03Speaker 3: He's contending it was filed in the wrong court and
- 32:07Speaker 3: the court has no jurisdiction to enforce the terms of
- 32:10Speaker 3: the agreement. So you know whether or not, I think
- 32:13Speaker 3: it's all going to be rewound to whether the court
- 32:16Speaker 3: has jurisdiction, and if they don't have jurisdiction, and if
- 32:21Speaker 3: they she died inadvertently, you know, she died before everything
- 32:24Speaker 3: was finalized and then and then filed in the wrong court.
- 32:28Speaker 4: By the letter of the law, he may inherit everything.
- 32:31Speaker 4: You know, it's it made just technicality.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Listen, where I live, A guy just won a quarter
- 32:38Speaker 3: of a million dollars on it in RhoA on a technicality.
- 32:42Speaker 2: To make sure a slow year roll dot your eyes
- 32:44Speaker 2: and cross every tea.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I'm just saying, it's like, you know what I want
- 32:48Speaker 4: to do. I want to go. Literally, Dripping Springs is
- 32:50Speaker 4: twenty minutes from.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Where I live, and I wonder why, you know why
- 32:56Speaker 3: he's refused to list the home. I mean, he's not
- 32:58Speaker 3: living in it, so but I guess the money would
- 33:01Speaker 3: go to the estate.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Your backer pictures like, what is that about?
- 33:06Speaker 3: Well, I think I think Susan that if it's I
- 33:11Speaker 3: think he does not want to honor.
- 33:13Speaker 4: This is my guest.
- 33:14Speaker 3: I'm not a lawyer. He doesn't want to honor any
- 33:17Speaker 3: aspect of the divorce screen because if you honor one
- 33:20Speaker 3: part of it, you got to honor the rest of it.
- 33:22Speaker 3: He's saying they have no right to tell him to
- 33:24Speaker 3: give him back. I don't think he wants him. I
- 33:26Speaker 3: think he's arguing it again as a point of law.
- 33:28Speaker 3: And you know, I wanted to go to law school.
- 33:31Speaker 3: I wish I had gone so I could work on
- 33:32Speaker 3: this case.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I would be her in a courtroom. I'd walk out
- 33:36Speaker 1: and say, Okay, it's all you may so.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Out of everything we covered today, you know what really
- 33:40Speaker 2: sticks in my mind what I never got a divorce ring.
- 33:46Speaker 4: I want to do that tweet. You didn't get a
- 33:48Speaker 4: divorce ring.
- 33:49Speaker 3: You didn't get a tattoo, you didn't have a divorce party.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Bracelets.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I told you all the bracelets on my arm every
- 33:56Speaker 3: time I did a guy and it doesn't work out.
- 33:59Speaker 3: That's what you and I started to We keep buying bracelets.
- 34:02Speaker 3: The hell the hell would The ring men are dumb.
- 34:06Speaker 3: They see a ring with diamonds on your hand, they
- 34:08Speaker 3: think you're unavailable.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Both of the bracelets I don't know. Let me just
- 34:12Speaker 4: say one thing that I really want to say.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Divorce sucks. We all know that it's hard. It's rarely amicable.
- 34:20Speaker 3: You had one, but it rarely is amicable. And I
- 34:23Speaker 3: feel sorry for celebrities because not only are they having
- 34:27Speaker 3: to navigate the rough roads of financial emotional, they're doing
- 34:31Speaker 3: it in the public eye.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yes, we now know what that's like, Kathy.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Everything we do, we're scrutinized in the on social media,
- 34:40Speaker 2: a lot of good positive things, but imagine doing saying
- 34:44Speaker 2: these things what social media has to say.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Well, I want to continue watching how these guys get
- 34:50Speaker 3: through chapter two.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I want to be invited to a divorce party.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I want to see if they start dating, what they
- 34:56Speaker 3: do with all this jewelry and tattoos when they find
- 34:58Speaker 3: the next man or woman of the dreams?
- 35:00Speaker 4: What do they do? What do they do? Get a
- 35:02Speaker 4: big X through through the tattoo and give the ring.
- 35:05Speaker 1: The diamond better be big enough to cover that tattoo.
- 35:08Speaker 1: That's all. That's a no brainer. And Dan, this was
- 35:12Speaker 1: a lot to cover.
- 35:13Speaker 2: But I think we can all learn a lot from
- 35:17Speaker 2: just hearing how other people, even celebrities, navigate through Chapter two.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Really.
