- 1:08SPEAKER_01: gosh.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: No, I'm serious.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: So I had the Incredible pleasure of meeting you.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness, like 90 days ago, maybe?
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I feel like my life has been on speed since everything that's been going on.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: We throw a little COVID in there, we throw a little isolation, but it's been a pretty incredible journey.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: I have appreciated your kindness, your care, your respect.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, I am just so blessed by you.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: So it's a real pleasure for me to be on here.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: So this podcast really is going to be for the woman who is Like on plan, on purpose.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: She's also a mama, but she's like hella committed to her goals.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: So Sarah, I'd love it if you would share your story, your bio.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: You know, I always ask people to fill out the questionnaire, but I never look, to be honest.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: It's more for the network so they can put what they need to up there.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Of course, we will have all of Sarah's information in the comment box below.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: So if you love what she says, you want to be a part of what she's doing, you've got to reach out because the woman is on fire.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: But Sarah, let's talk about you.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Well, I was so excited to do a podcast because let's face it, for those of us that are moms, like I need a 20 minute break.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: So this is
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: awesome.
- 2:17UNKNOWN: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: I was like, sure, I'll be part of it.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: This is great.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: But I am married.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: I've been married 15 years.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I make my home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I have two little kids.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I have a five-year-old and a seven-year-old, one of each girl and a boy.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: And I love being a mom.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: I will tell you, though, I also love being an entrepreneur.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I am one of those girls that you know, being a mom is first and foremost for me, but I also feel that being an entrepreneur also kind of fills a hole that even being the greatest mom just doesn't fill.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And so I like to, I also, you know, when I decided to become an entrepreneur, I wanted to also be able to bring something to the table as well in my family, you know, and have something that I could really be proud of.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And I could have something that I could feel like, I was accomplishing, right?
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I don't feel like we, I accomplished, I feel like I'm still in the process.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I think that, that for me is just, is, is so important.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: And I think for a lot of women too, it's, it's, it's a, it's a big hole, you know, because I do meet, you know, a lot of, a lot of women that they love being a mom, but at the same time, they still feel like there's that missing piece.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And, Um, I'm like, man, you just got to find something you're passionate about and you just got to like chase it down.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And I don't, I don't really care what it is.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Like just find something right.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: That you can be passionate about.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Cause that, you know, that, that will, that will help you, you know, big time.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Otherwise I feel like sometimes moms are just kind of walking around like empty shells and that breaks my heart, you know, to see that.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Well, and someone said to me this past week, actually, that they were like, you know, you got to make sure.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And she said, I know you're starting to see it because, you know, my tiny human is, you know, she's going to be in kindergarten and then eventually we'll find a new normal, right?
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: And she said, you know, you're coming to a part of your life again where you get to, you know, it's kind of you and you again.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh, that's right.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: You know, so I'm glad that I never, you know, I was sort of that mom.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I was passionately driving toward my goals when I got pregnant throughout my pregnancy.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: I went back to work very quickly because I do work from home.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: So I was able to juggle that.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: And I remember thinking to myself that I thought I would feel different the day after I had her.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: And I remember thinking, no, I still want it.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: In fact, I think I want it more now because now there's like this little human and I want to show her what's possible and help her shatter the ceilings.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: And I think a lot of people were like that.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And one woman said to me, now maybe you understand now that you have this tiny person in your life, why I didn't want to, you know, be an entrepreneur.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And I said, actually, I'm feeling the opposite.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And I respect you for feeling, you know, that you just want to be at home and nestle with her.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: But I said, I actually feel inspired and brave.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Like I feel braver now that I'm a mom.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: And, um, You know, so that's been, that's been pretty exciting.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I know that, you know, not only are you chasing, you know, dreams and goals and kudos to being, you know, married and, you know, that's a, that's a big deal too, right?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Interpersonal relationships are challenging at the best.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: That's
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: a whole other episode.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: But, you know, I know that, You've been getting out there and leading the way for other women.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: You know, you've got one of the most powerful women.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: You know, you've walked on a stage that is, like I said, fangirl moment.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Talk to me about that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: How long is that little, I want to do something more energy sort of been there in your life?
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: About 22 years.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Long time, right?
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: I think that's the thing that people don't realize is like, You know, I, I think, I think it's like, you just have to go after it until, you know what I mean?
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And know that you are going to go through ups and flows and you are going to have to be, learn how to be flexible and adaptable as you hear my kids screaming in the background.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: You were one of the ones that posted that image of, you know, my kids when I'm not on the phone, sleeping lambs.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: My kids who are when I'm on the phone.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: This is pandemonium.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, oh, my gosh.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: This is happening already.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: But, no, it's definitely been a process.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: But I think it's just, you know, every single day I've just always been focusing on, like, hey, am I better today than I was yesterday?
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And learning how to just kind of take, you know, one foot in front of the other.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: And, you know, that...
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I think for some people that definitely is challenging.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, that was for me because I think most people, when you start a business, you want it to be so much fast, go faster than it really does.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And so because of that mentally, it's, it takes a lot of like, gosh, uh, personal growth, you know, to an emotional maturity, right.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: And intelligence to kind of really work through that and, and be patient and, just be just be be okay with being on that path right that just that continuous path of you know getting better each day yeah you know you know that type of thing so so for me it was a it was a long time I mean you know sure I speak on stages sure I do all that but I mean that was like you know 20 years in the making so I think that's important too because I no matter what you know, type of business that you're in as an entrepreneur.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think it's really important to always be continuously asking yourself, like, you know, how am I, you know, working on mastering my craft, right?
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And, you know, not just treating it like a hobby.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And that's okay.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Like, if you treat it like a hobby, that's okay.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: But you have to realize you're going to get hobby results then, right?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: So I think it's, you have to be able to, you know, understand, you know, what's going to come out of it the results based on the effort that you are putting into it right so for me i've just always been on that continuous path of you know working on my craft every day um because i just know that's the only way that i'm gonna get better you know
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: i like that too because what was coming up for me as you were sharing that is i think as women i think it's people but definitely as women we have a that comparison game kicks in and And so it's so easy for people to look and say, oh my God, and she, and then like you said, no, no, no, this is like 20 plus years in the making.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking about that too, you know, recently that I was like, it took me two and a half years to hit a significant space, you know, partway through my career.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: And I was like, it felt like a long time when I was in it, but I look back and go, it's only two and a half years.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: It really wasn't.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: But it was that, like you said, that commitment to, always be growing and what have I done today to move myself forward and I think right now a lot of people are looking at becoming an entrepreneur we have time to you know we're starting things we always wanted to and I think the one woman said you know she's like I'm trying to find a new normal for me knowing that it's never going to be normal but I have an opportunity to use this time to change things and so what am I going to do with that moving forward right like there's so many different good things that come out of a best laid plans that never actually come true right like it's it's a little bit crazy so
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: well you know and i think you also i think for a lot of people it's important to look at you know i think every single one of us our lives have slowed down right which is a blessing actually We all need to look at it as a blessing, because what it allows you to do is to take a breath and go, okay, so what are the things that I'm really passionate about?
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: What are the things that when someone asks me a question, but I can't stop talking about it, right?
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Like, maybe that needs to be part of the what you need to move into, right?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've always wanted to be an entrepreneur, but you're like, I don't really know where to go or where to start or what have you, where now this time allows you to slow down, where you do take that time and you go, man, what do I love?
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: And go pursue that, right?
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: But I think a lot of times when our lives are sped up so fast, we don't even take that time to just be, right?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Like there's nothing wrong with just being.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: And I think for a lot of people, we forget that.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: We always feel like we have to be, you know, becoming this, becoming that versus just being, which is sometimes just being silent and listening in the silence.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: And man, that has served me so well, just even during this time, just being a better mom and being a better spouse, right?
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: And doing a better job with self-care for me where, you know, most women, we are horrible, right?
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: at it.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: And if you say you're good at it, I don't want to say you're lying.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Because you take care of everybody else and we're last, right?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Where here I really learned how to slow it down and look at and really assess how have I been doing taking care of me.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: I know for myself, I can answer that.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: I've been doing a pretty poor job.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Pretty poor.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: And so I've been able to sit down and re-strategize.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, so what are the things that are really important to me?
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: And sit down and list them all out and go, okay, so how can I make sure that I follow through with filling my cup every day so that, man, I've got so much more that I can give out to my business, my spouse, my friends, my family, my kids.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's allowed me to get, this time has allowed me to really get organized and restructure, you know, um, the things in my life that need to be important and be a priority every day.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Cause a friend of mine said, you know, it's a great time to do a values exercise, which I've always been fairly value driven.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: And I said, well, I know what my two values are.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: She's like, I'm going to challenge you.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: She's like, you know, there's been a lot of change.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: It's a new decade, right?
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: She was like, just dive into that.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: And that's been a pretty powerful thing.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: And one of the things that came out for me, Sarah was, um, I've worked as an entrepreneur since I was 24.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: We're talking a long time.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah,
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: me too.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: I was like, I've always had the time to connect with people, to make time to do a Zoom coffee or whatever it is.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: I've actually always had that ability.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Nothing really changed except maybe how I was approaching people or people were more available in different hours.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: I wasn't working the same.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: So there were some shifts for sure.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: But I remember feeling like, I could have always done this, but how come I had bought into that hamster wheel?
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Like that's why I got out so I could do my own thing so I could have that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: So it's been kind of an interesting piece to be like, okay, so this new habit of making time to just call people to say, Hey, I'm just calling chicken.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: How's life today?
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: I want to make sure I do that when all of this is over.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Like, so like you said, it's been kind of a, okay, you know, this is, This was good.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah,
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: exactly.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously there's a lot happening out there.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: That's sad.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Um, but there, there's also a lot of good happening too.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 14:06UNKNOWN: Yeah.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: So I know that, you know, for a lot of our listeners that are listening on this, a lot of them are entrepreneurs.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: A lot of them are, I think, like you and I really dialing down and getting very clear on, you know, what will remain and what won't, you know, that sort of thing.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: So I always like to open it up to, you know, my guests to say, is there something that you've been thinking about that you'd love to share?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: Because now would certainly be a really good time for you to sort of just speak to that.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: um kind of what i already talked about i know that for sure just about the slowing down piece i think it's learning how to find the good in all of this right so if you haven't yet you know take take that time to figure out like so what is all the goodness it's kind of like when i go through different situations in my life, you know, instead of looking at why is this happening to me?
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Why is this happening to me?
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Why is this happening to me?
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Versus, okay, so what am I supposed to learn right now from this?
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Like, what can I learn right now from this that can make me a better person or enhance my business or make me a better spouse or a better mom?
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Like what, what am I, or what am I supposed to be learning?
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: that I am not seeing right now.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: And I think always having that perspective, especially when things don't go our way or things seem to be dark or seem to be negative, instead of going down that rabbit hole, which the reality is it's easy for all of us to do that.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I tell people it's easy to be negative.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: It's easy to go down that rabbit hole.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: It's easy to go into self-pity.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: It's easy to do all that stuff.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: What's not easy is the other spectrum, right?
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And so I just encourage people to do that.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: And that's what I continuously do.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: So even through all this stuff that's been happening over the last month, Every day I'm still telling myself, like every day I feel like I'm learning something, like just one little thing that can, you know, tweak my business or one little thing that's helping me do a better job of parenting or, you know, whatever it may be.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: I just encourage people to do that because there is a lot that we can all learn that can just make us so much better through all this.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: I
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: agree.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Well, Sarah, I really appreciate that you took some time out today to just touch base and to chat because this was a good reminder, typically Tuesdays are the day that I do my recordings for this.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: And so then I create some space afterwards because I am an introvert.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: So putting energy out makes me tired later on.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: But I really appreciate that you took some time out.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: to hold some space and share some of your unique perspective.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, for anybody who's wanting to get in touch with you, we're going to have all of the information for them to contact you down below.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: And I look forward to catching you on one of our many training calls and live videos coming up.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: So
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: thank you so much for all that you do.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Look at all the goodness that you're pouring out of everybody.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: It's pretty awesome.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: I really appreciate that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: So I'm going to wrap this up here and let everybody get back to what we're doing.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: We like to keep these short and sweet but uh thank you again sarah for the reminder to slow down and to figure out what you need to do today to make sure that you are filling your cup first so that you can give from the overflow and not be feeling like you're running on empty all the time well thanks everybody and we'll talk to you very very soon
