- 0:09Speaker 1: unaware all right angie likes her uh gentleman a little
- 0:12Speaker 1: bit older yep sure do and megan likes him just
- 0:16Speaker 1: a little.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Bit younger yeah why not I can.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I've compiled a few scenarios for you this morning.
- 0:23Speaker 4: I can is amazing.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I've compiled a few scenarios for you here today, and
- 0:28Speaker 1: you two are going to let us know if these
- 0:31Speaker 1: dudes I've created in my brain are too old. Too
- 0:34Speaker 1: young or just right? Very Goldilocks and the Three Bears inspired.
- 0:40Speaker 5: Who are you more like, myself or Megan when it
- 0:44Speaker 5: comes to these? Or neither.
- 0:45Speaker 6: You're like, they need to be my age.
- 0:47Speaker 3: All right. We'll start off with a very, I think,
- 0:50Speaker 3: simple one. Easy to answer.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Okay. He has an AARP card. Is this gentleman too old,
- 0:56Speaker 1: too young, or just right?
- 0:58Speaker 4: Just right.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Too old.
- 1:00Speaker 6: Are we talking about my dad?
- 1:01Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Does he have a history of getting colonoscopies? Is he
- 1:09Speaker 1: too old, too young, or just right?
- 1:11Speaker 4: Obviously just right for me.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Still too old.
- 1:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:15Speaker 1: All right, Megan, I'm working on one. Okay, let's see
- 1:17Speaker 1: if I can get you. All right, he still gets
- 1:19Speaker 1: carded at the bar. Too old, too young, or just right?
- 1:23Speaker 6: Just right.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Way too young for me, bro. Way too young for me, bro.
- 1:30Speaker 3: All right, what about this?
- 1:32Speaker 1: He's got a standing appointment with a chiropractor. Too old,
- 1:35Speaker 1: too young, or just right?
- 1:37Speaker 2: I mean, everybody goes to the chiropractor, so he might
- 1:40Speaker 2: be just right, but I'm going to guess he's actually
- 1:42Speaker 2: too old.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Just right for me.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Okay, he's excited about his new recliner. Too young or
- 1:49Speaker 1: just right? Too old.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Just right.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I love when Megan laughs, and she's just like, she knows. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: that's going to be too old for me. Okay, what
- 2:02Speaker 1: about this? He has a playlist... Instead of a CD collection. Oh, yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 1: he's just right.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Too young.
- 2:10Speaker 6: He understands me.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Too young. I like a physical copy. You need the
- 2:16Speaker 4: mixed CD stuff.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Angie doesn't want CDs. She needs vinyl records. Okay, I
- 2:22Speaker 1: have two more for you. Okay. He reads the full newspaper,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and it's actually the paper copy. Too old, too young,
- 2:30Speaker 1: or just right?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Wow, that is.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Too old. That is just right.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Megan doesn't want him to know what the paper is. Okay,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I have one more for you.
- 2:41Speaker 6: Don't read that. You don't need to.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Just look pretty.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I have one more for you. He has a favorite
- 2:47Speaker 1: pair of reading glasses. Too old, too young, or just right?
- 2:51Speaker 4: He's too old. He's just right.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Did you just like describe my man?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Like that's Mikey.
- 2:59Speaker 1: There was a lot of inspiration in this bit here
- 3:02Speaker 1: this morning on Big 98.7.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Here's the fun thing. Angie is going to date the
- 3:07Speaker 2: dad and I'm going to date the son.
- 3:11Speaker 1: One's got the old bull, the other's got the young cat.
- 3:14Speaker 1: There is good news, though. You two would never really, like.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Oh, we're never fighting over it.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Ever.
- 3:19Speaker 3: No, we're good.
- 3:20Speaker 6: We're good there.
- 3:20Speaker 1: All right, well, great news. Sons and fathers, go ahead
- 3:24Speaker 1: and give us a call at 701-280-1987. Celebrating life's little victories.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Every morning we practice gratitude on Big 98.7. If I could,
- 3:38Speaker 1: I would keep this feeling in a plastic jar. Bust
- 3:41Speaker 1: it out whenever someone's acting hard. Share your little victories
- 3:44Speaker 1: with us at 701-280-1987. Kids, I also needed a win
- 3:46Speaker 1: that day. All right, Megan, do you have a little
- 3:52Speaker 1: victory for us?
- 3:53Speaker 2: So I'm hoping that I had a little victory anyway.
- 3:56Speaker 2: So yesterday I was leaving the building because I was
- 3:59Speaker 2: on my way over to Sweet Shots to do a
- 4:00Speaker 2: Facebook Live. there was a dog running around the parking
- 4:04Speaker 2: lot and it had like a collar on that had tags.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And I was trying to get the dog and the
- 4:08Speaker 2: dog clearly wanted to come into our building.
- 4:10Speaker 6: It was like thirsty. And I was of course leaving.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So I call our, one of our friends, I was like, Hey,
- 4:16Speaker 2: there's a dog running around. We need to get the
- 4:19Speaker 2: dog so that we can try to get it safely somewhere.
- 4:22Speaker 6: So I'm driving away. And as I'm driving, I see
- 4:24Speaker 6: the dog still running. The dog is running.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And it's almost to like this four way stop close
- 4:28Speaker 2: to our building. And the dog is, It just keeps
- 4:31Speaker 2: running and running. So I finally called the Red River
- 4:34Speaker 2: Dispatch to let them know, hey, there's a dog that's
- 4:37Speaker 2: on the loose. And hopefully they found the dog and
- 4:39Speaker 2: the dog got reunited. So I feel like I kind
- 4:41Speaker 2: of did my good deed to try to save the
- 4:43Speaker 2: dog yesterday.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yes, your little victory is that you're a good Samaritan.
- 4:47Speaker 4: And I love that.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And now this was a four-legged animal? This was a
- 4:50Speaker 3: four-legged animal. Okay, I didn't know if you were just
- 4:52Speaker 3: talking about a man, you know. That boy was thirsty.
- 4:56Speaker 4: You're so silly.
- 5:00Speaker 6: That dog needs to go to the pound.
- 5:03Speaker 3: That's right. Angie, do you have a little victory?
- 5:05Speaker 4: You know what?
- 5:06Speaker 5: Before I jump into mine, we got a text from
- 5:09Speaker 5: Crystal who said she hasn't been very active because she
- 5:12Speaker 5: was cramming for midterms, but she got straight A's on
- 5:17Speaker 5: her midterms.
- 5:18Speaker 1: All right, girl.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Congrats.
- 5:21Speaker 4: That's a great victory. That's awesome.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I can't remember the last time I got straight A's
- 5:25Speaker 5: in school.
- 5:26Speaker 6: When was the last time you were in school?
- 5:27Speaker 4: I don't want to talk about it.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Don't worry about it then.
- 5:31Speaker 3: You got straight A's at some point?
- 5:33Speaker 4: I really did.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I used to, like, believe it or not, your girl
- 5:37Speaker 5: is smart, but I didn't always apply myself.
- 5:41Speaker 4: That was as I got into high school.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I got an A in gym class, I think, and
- 5:45Speaker 3: that was about it.
- 5:46Speaker 5: I literally had to do summer school because I failed
- 5:48Speaker 5: gym class. That's a discussion for another day. Back to
- 5:52Speaker 5: little victories. My little victory is, you know, as Halloween
- 5:56Speaker 5: is getting closer, my mind is just all on spooky season.
- 6:01Speaker 5: And on Facebook, on Big 98.7's Facebook page, you can
- 6:04Speaker 5: actually see this.
- 6:05Speaker 4: I was thinking of.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Like stupid punny costumes that you could be. And so
- 6:11Speaker 5: the one that I came up with was, you know,
- 6:13Speaker 5: the phrase that people be using, clock it.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Clock It. So I drew Clock.
- 6:21Speaker 5: It as a costume, and it's Pennywise, you know, It,
- 6:25Speaker 5: with a clock around his neck.
- 6:28Speaker 3: He's very clever.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Clock It.
- 6:30Speaker 5: But the little victory is that I showed my 16-year-old
- 6:33Speaker 5: son this.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And he genuinely cracked up at it.
- 6:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:39Speaker 5: And when a teenager laughs at something you do, you
- 6:42Speaker 5: have to ride that high as long as you possibly can.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I felt so proud of myself. Like, my teenage son
- 6:49Speaker 4: thinks I'm funny? What? At least for a moment. Yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 4: at least for a moment.
- 6:55Speaker 5: I probably did something cringe immediately after. But for that moment,
- 6:59Speaker 5: I was a funny, cool mom. So I got to
- 7:01Speaker 5: take that win.
- 7:02Speaker 4: What about you, Gabe?
- 7:04Speaker 1: My little victory is I am the world's greatest father
- 7:07Speaker 1: that has ever existed.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Are you going up against all the other fathers right now?
- 7:12Speaker 6: I can't wait for this one.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So we have our daughter who is getting over a cold.
- 7:17Speaker 1: And I think last night it's like about to be done.
- 7:22Speaker 8: Right.
- 7:22Speaker 1: So she has had just a stuffy nose, you know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: no temp that we that we could tell. And we've
- 7:27Speaker 1: checked and nothing terrible like that. But she's just had
- 7:29Speaker 1: this stuffy nose.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And we are.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm sorry for having breakfast right now, but just sucking
- 7:34Speaker 1: out boogers left and right. And so we would lay
- 7:37Speaker 1: her down and she would just bawl, just yell all night.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And so what I found out was we have this
- 7:44Speaker 1: like swingy chair kind of thing that goes left to
- 7:47Speaker 1: right and it's at a tiny bit of an incline.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And I tried putting her in that and she stopped
- 7:52Speaker 1: crying and instantly fell asleep. And it's like, well, this
- 7:54Speaker 1: is great, but I can't leave you in this. You know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you're not kids aren't supposed to sleep in those things.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. They can actually like die.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So I sat up and watched and made sure she
- 8:05Speaker 1: didn't die all night on Wednesday night. And then I
- 8:09Speaker 1: had to tell Angie and Megan at about three in
- 8:12Speaker 1: the morning. Hey, guys, I've been asleep for like 20 minutes.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 1: There's zero chance I will be in today. I will
- 8:18Speaker 1: be home with my sick daughter. But the good news
- 8:21Speaker 1: is she slept basically the entire night, a lot of
- 8:24Speaker 1: the day, and then last night she went to bed
- 8:26Speaker 1: at 7.
- 8:27Speaker 3: No problems at all.
- 8:28Speaker 4: So I think.
- 8:28Speaker 2: We are good to go.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Big 98.7.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Have you ever had a night where you just can't
- 8:37Speaker 3: fall asleep? A night, a week, a month?
- 8:40Speaker 4: I was going to say.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Maybe a life. Yeah, right.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Well, there is a sleep doctor who shared a couple
- 8:47Speaker 1: interesting hacks. And this was the doctor's favorite one. It
- 8:52Speaker 1: was the 478 method.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Have you ever heard of this method?
- 8:56Speaker 4: No, what is it? I've already lost.
- 8:58Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 1: 478. It's where you breathe in for four seconds. You
- 9:03Speaker 1: two can try this for me right now.
- 9:05Speaker 6: I'm not trying to go to sleep right this second, though.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, that's actually a bad idea.
- 9:08Speaker 3: But then I could get the show I've always wanted. No,
- 9:12Speaker 3: you breathe in. She's sleeping women.
- 9:13Speaker 4: That's weird.
- 9:14Speaker 1: You breathe in for four seconds. You hold for seven
- 9:18Speaker 1: and then out for eight.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Okay, so we're.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Doing like out for eight seconds.
- 9:23Speaker 6: So we're basically doing Pilates?
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You got to do some type of calisthenics to fall asleep,
- 9:27Speaker 1: it sounds like.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Do I get abs, too, if I do this?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Well, this was their favorite one.
- 9:31Speaker 1: They also say another hack is you can just tell
- 9:35Speaker 1: yourself to stay awake.
- 9:36Speaker 3: And you know what? I've been doing that for 35 years.
- 9:38Speaker 3: That does not work.
- 9:40Speaker 6: I am still awake.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Weird.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That's the problem. Yeah, since trying to fall asleep is stressful.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So that's kind of the thought behind this is, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: doing these breathing exercises. can calm you down or just
- 9:52Speaker 1: trying to stay awake.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I need to stay awake.
- 9:54Speaker 3: It's like the opposite effect could happen.
- 9:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 5: I know that I was trolling, but I feel like.
- 10:00Speaker 5: at this point I'll try anything. So I will try
- 10:02Speaker 5: this breathing method. There's another one that I heard where
- 10:05Speaker 5: when you close your eyes. in bed, you just like
- 10:08Speaker 5: act like you're trying to keep them open. So you
- 10:11Speaker 5: keep like blinking and then eventually it makes you tired.
- 10:16Speaker 4: And that also does not work.
- 10:19Speaker 6: That sounds like the child one where you're like fighting sleep.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah. Um, yeah, I watched my daughter do that every
- 10:26Speaker 3: single night and it does not work.
- 10:27Speaker 4: You know what always works?
- 10:29Speaker 5: But I feel like because we're adults, it doesn't happen.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Remember as a kid falling asleep like in the car
- 10:35Speaker 5: or on the couch and then you magically wake up
- 10:38Speaker 5: in the morning in your bed? It's because your parents
- 10:41Speaker 5: picked you up and took you and they didn't disturb you.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Can somebody do that for me? Can I fall asleep
- 10:47Speaker 4: on the couch and, like, lift me up? Mikey can't
- 10:49Speaker 4: do it. Your girl's a little hefty. Like, who can
- 10:52Speaker 4: we hire?
- 10:53Speaker 2: Okay, seriously, if this happened to me as a single gal,
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'd be scared who's in my house.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Or you teleported and that's cool.
- 11:04Speaker 3: 701-280-1987.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Do you have a sleep hack that you think is
- 11:09Speaker 1: just fireproof? Do either of you actually have a hack
- 11:12Speaker 1: to fall asleep? Or is there some type of, I'll
- 11:14Speaker 1: use the word routine that helps you fall asleep?
- 11:18Speaker 6: Sleep tea? Chamomile tea?
- 11:19Speaker 3: Really?
- 11:20Speaker 4: Sleepy time tea sometimes helps.
- 11:23Speaker 6: But again, maybe like once, twice, and then it's done.
- 11:27Speaker 6: It's not going to do it again.
- 11:28Speaker 5: I feel like how are there still like, I'm an
- 11:30Speaker 5: expert in sleep as a doctor.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Find a better cure for us, please.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Isn't America the most underslept country ever?
- 11:40Speaker 4: Probably.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And the most stressed, I think, too.
- 11:43Speaker 3: We do have Angela on the phone. Angela, what's your
- 11:45Speaker 3: sleep hack?
- 11:46Speaker 7: I started listening to audiobooks at bedtime, and it's made
- 11:48Speaker 7: a huge difference. I put a book on I've already
- 11:51Speaker 7: heard before, so I'm not too interested in what happens next,
- 11:55Speaker 7: and usually I'm asleep within 20 minutes.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You know what?
- 11:58Speaker 1: There's a chance Angela is a fan of the Big 98.7
- 12:00Speaker 1: Morning Show and has heard me talk about this a
- 12:02Speaker 1: thousand times.
- 12:03Speaker 4: That's true. That's the Gabe Glidden way.
- 12:05Speaker 5: He falls asleep to Harry Potter every single night.
- 12:08Speaker 2: See, I couldn't do this because I would be invested.
- 12:10Speaker 2: It doesn't matter how many times I heard that. I
- 12:12Speaker 2: can't have words. It would have to be like... meditation music.
- 12:16Speaker 1: That's helped me for they have baby monitors that play that.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You know they have apps on my phone that also
- 12:23Speaker 2: play that 701-280-1987 do you have a sleep hack let
- 12:30Speaker 2: us know this morning uh for three individuals who all
- 12:33Speaker 2: have sleeping issues within our own right Big 98.7.
- 12:39Speaker 9: This is Am I the Problem? We'll hear one side
- 12:47Speaker 9: of the story, and with your help, decide if it's
- 12:51Speaker 9: right or if maybe.
- 12:53Speaker 3: You're the problem.
- 12:54Speaker 4: That's right. I am the problem. On Big 98.7. Is
- 13:00Speaker 4: Eric being a bad brother and uncle? My sister has
- 13:03Speaker 4: three kids and every.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Time we do something as a family, I somehow end
- 13:07Speaker 5: up watching them. We went on a family vacation recently
- 13:11Speaker 5: and my sister and her husband just assumed I'd babysit
- 13:15Speaker 5: so they could go out to dinner. I told them
- 13:17Speaker 5: no because I wanted to enjoy my vacation too. She
- 13:21Speaker 5: got mad and said I was being selfish and that
- 13:25Speaker 5: I have no idea how hard it is to be
- 13:27Speaker 5: a parent. Now my parents are saying I should have
- 13:31Speaker 5: just helped out because that's what family does. I love
- 13:34Speaker 5: my nieces and nephew, but I'm not trying to be
- 13:38Speaker 5: the automatic babysitter every time we get together.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I didn't sign up to be a parent.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Am I the problem for refusing to watch my sister's
- 13:47Speaker 5: kids on our family vacation?
- 13:49Speaker 6: So she was expecting him to watch them the whole time?
- 13:52Speaker 4: I think just for the dinner.
- 13:53Speaker 5: I think, like, they wanted to go out to dinner,
- 13:56Speaker 5: and they were, like, assuming, okay, he'll just watch them.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Okay, the assumption is what gets me, because I— Okay,
- 14:04Speaker 2: I don't have kids.
- 14:05Speaker 6: I'm an auntie.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I have— I would— It would annoy me too, where
- 14:08Speaker 2: it's like, you need to respect, he's boundaries, right?
- 14:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Like you need to respect me too. Like you should ask.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It's the assumption.
- 14:16Speaker 6: I don't think he's a problem. She should have asked.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it's upsetting. But at the end of the day,
- 14:21Speaker 2: if you don't ask the question, you should not expect.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:24Speaker 6: I feel, I feel.
- 14:26Speaker 1: This.
- 14:26Speaker 4: What about you, Gabe?
- 14:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:28Speaker 4: You're smirking over here. That's what happens. I read what
- 14:32Speaker 4: our thoughtful.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Listeners send in. And you always have a little smirk
- 14:36Speaker 5: on your face. What are you thinking?
- 14:39Speaker 8: Well.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Honestly, I want to start living my life a lot
- 14:44Speaker 1: more like these two parents who just will drop their
- 14:47Speaker 1: kids off for their uncle's house.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I can't stand that thought.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So Kaylee comes to work here for like an hour
- 14:55Speaker 1: or 45 minutes or whatever, almost every day. And if
- 14:58Speaker 1: we're in the studio, I will still ask Angie or Megan, hey,
- 15:03Speaker 1: can you hold her real quick while I go to
- 15:05Speaker 1: the bathroom or I got to go get whatever. Could
- 15:08Speaker 1: you imagine if I just handed her to you and left?
- 15:10Speaker 4: Well, first of all, I would love that.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 15:11Speaker 4: But I understand what you're, like, you shouldn't assume.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I don't assume anybody's going to watch my kid ever.
- 15:18Speaker 1: So I really want to start learning and living like
- 15:21Speaker 1: these two parents who just willy-nilly don't care about anything, clearly.
- 15:25Speaker 6: They just became your heroes.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so I actually, it's so disrespectful that I want
- 15:30Speaker 1: to start living like that.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Of course you do. What are your thoughts? 701-280-1987.
- 15:37Speaker 5: We also have this up on the Big 98.7 Facebook page.
- 15:41Speaker 4: I personally, I agree with you, Eric. Here's the thing.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I am someone who has kids.
- 15:49Speaker 5: And for a little bit of time, I was single
- 15:52Speaker 5: momming it. And I never did the thought occur to
- 15:57Speaker 5: me to just assume that my brother does not have kids.
- 16:02Speaker 5: And I would never just assume that he would just
- 16:04Speaker 5: like watch them for me. I think that is crazy work.
- 16:08Speaker 5: And one step further, I think it is a very
- 16:10Speaker 5: valid life choice.
- 16:13Speaker 4: To not have children. If you don't want to have children,
- 16:15Speaker 4: don't have children.
- 16:16Speaker 5: And then people who do have children, you have no
- 16:19Speaker 5: idea how hard it is to be a parent. Well, yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 5: because I chose to not become a parent.
- 16:24Speaker 2: But also to do that, because you don't know if
- 16:27Speaker 2: they do want children and they haven't been able to
- 16:29Speaker 2: have children. So to throw that accusation to like, there's
- 16:33Speaker 2: so many things going on with a sister. As a sister,
- 16:35Speaker 2: I would never have dreamed of doing something like that
- 16:38Speaker 2: to my brother's.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I'm going to try this this weekend.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm going to see my brother and sister this weekend.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And my brother probably would do it. My sister's younger
- 16:46Speaker 1: than me, but she's meaner than I am. So I'm
- 16:48Speaker 1: going to give this a shot and see how well
- 16:51Speaker 1: that one goes over.
- 16:52Speaker 3: And I'll report back to you on Monday. Excellent.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Give us your thoughts.
- 16:57Speaker 6: What do you think?
- 16:57Speaker 8: 701-280-1987.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Chime on in.
- 17:02Speaker 3: And good morning. We do have Duaba on the phone.
- 17:10Speaker 5: He's not in the wrong.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I would never, ever assume to let somebody watch my kids.
- 17:15Speaker 3: That's ridiculous.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Right?
- 17:16Speaker 4: It makes an A out of you. I can't say
- 17:20Speaker 4: the bad word.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It totally does.
- 17:21Speaker 5: It totally does.
- 17:22Speaker 3: My mother-in-law always said that.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 4: No, no, no, no. You don't, you don't, no.
- 17:26Speaker 7: You don't, no.
- 17:28Speaker 4: That's ridiculous.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I love that. No is exactly the word no.
- 17:34Speaker 8: No, no, no.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Duava, thank you for the call. We appreciate you this morning.
- 17:38Speaker 1: What a great way to put it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: No, no.
- 17:39Speaker 5: No.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And then like four more no's.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Exactly. Eric does not have kids. His sister has kids.
- 17:47Speaker 5: And on a big family vacation, the sister and husband
- 17:50Speaker 5: just assumed that he would watch. the three kids so
- 17:53Speaker 5: they could go out to dinner. And he was like, no,
- 17:56Speaker 5: I'm trying to enjoy my vacation, too. So now his
- 17:58Speaker 5: whole family, like even his parents, is saying that he's
- 18:00Speaker 5: the problem for not wanting to watch the kiddos. Dua,
- 18:04Speaker 5: but obviously Team Eric.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Who thinks, yeah, you're not the problem. You shouldn't assume.
- 18:11Speaker 4: And I feel like all of us are kind of
- 18:13Speaker 4: in that boat.
- 18:14Speaker 6: The assumption.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I think I've 180'd.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It is so disrespectful that now I want to be
- 18:19Speaker 1: more like these parents. I want to live without worrying
- 18:22Speaker 1: about anybody else on planet Earth.
- 18:25Speaker 5: We did get a text from Karina and she said,
- 18:27Speaker 5: am I crazy?
- 18:29Speaker 4: Family is a different level.
- 18:31Speaker 5: There are some things you should be able to assume,
- 18:35Speaker 5: especially if you call yourself a good uncle. Megan, Gabe, Angie,
- 18:42Speaker 5: I can't believe you're supporting this.
- 18:45Speaker 4: I thought you were kinder than that. Hey, no, no.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I did kind of say, I mean, I'm trolling, but
- 18:54Speaker 1: like I did kind of say I support it in
- 18:56Speaker 1: the fact that it's one of the most disrespectful things
- 18:59Speaker 1: I've ever heard in my life. And I want to
- 19:01Speaker 1: try to live more like that.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Karina, I don't think that this doesn't make us kind.
- 19:06Speaker 2: No.
- 19:06Speaker 5: I just think, I guess, I don't know. I just,
- 19:10Speaker 5: even if it's family, you know how they say like
- 19:13Speaker 5: you hurt the people you love the most.
- 19:14Speaker 8: Yes. Right.
- 19:15Speaker 5: And so I think there's always this like fine line of, Well,
- 19:18Speaker 5: they're family.
- 19:19Speaker 4: So you should just expect certain things.
- 19:21Speaker 5: But on the other hand, because they're family, shouldn't you
- 19:25Speaker 5: respect them more?
- 19:26Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 19:27Speaker 6: That's just it. It can go either way.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:29Speaker 2: And so it's just a matter of what side you're on.
- 19:30Speaker 2: But Amanda is on your side to Eric over on
- 19:33Speaker 2: her Facebook. She says not a jerk. Aunts and uncles
- 19:35Speaker 2: can and should babysit. But at a request, not an assumption.
- 19:39Speaker 2: That's how I feel. Like, I am happy to watch
- 19:42Speaker 2: my nieces and nephews anytime.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Like, I'm happy to see them. But at the same time,
- 19:47Speaker 2: you should just notice. Oh, hey, you're here.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Goodbye.
- 19:50Speaker 5: No, I think that's the thing, Eric. I think you
- 19:54Speaker 5: fire back to your parents. and your sister and say, hey,
- 19:58Speaker 5: the assumption is what made this a whole mess because
- 20:02Speaker 5: Big 98.7's listener said so.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I want to know, were mom and dad there?
- 20:07Speaker 2: Why didn't grandma and grandpa watch the grandkids then?
- 20:10Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 4: That part.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You know what? I will say I lied.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Maybe I have done a thing or two like this
- 20:14Speaker 1: where I've just been like, oh, hey, mom, by the way,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I got to go do this.
- 20:19Speaker 8: Which.
- 20:20Speaker 1: She obviously I would ask ahead of time, but mom
- 20:23Speaker 1: always says yes. I think you should do what Chris suggested,
- 20:26Speaker 1: and that's just to make other plans and just the
- 20:28Speaker 1: nope out of there.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Wow.
- 20:30Speaker 3: How Midwestern of you to nope out of there.
- 20:34Speaker 2: 701-280-1987.
- 20:34Speaker 1: This is also up on Facebook. Do we have a
- 20:38Speaker 1: problem here or are like 98% of people agree that
- 20:43Speaker 1: you shouldn't just be assumed that you're going to be
- 20:45Speaker 1: babysitting your nieces and nephews?
- 20:47Speaker 4: Big 98.7.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Is there a healthy habit that you actually like? You
- 20:53Speaker 1: wake up every day at 4, you hit that treadmill,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you get to the gym, or maybe you pour yourself
- 20:59Speaker 1: a cup of tea. This new study found nearly 500,000 people,
- 21:03Speaker 1: so a very big sample size. found that drinking tea
- 21:08Speaker 1: three or more times a week is linked to an
- 21:10Speaker 1: 11% lower risk of heart disease and stroke. What's one
- 21:15Speaker 1: of the worst diseases on earth? Heart disease. It's one
- 21:18Speaker 1: of the most common.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh, Megan.
- 21:20Speaker 6: Look at you, girl. I am winning.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I've had tea every single morning this week. I just
- 21:26Speaker 2: had my cup this morning. I feel like I am
- 21:27Speaker 2: winning at life right now.
- 21:28Speaker 6: I am at the top of the world.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Look at you go.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Now, they did say black tea showed the strongest link.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Ha ha!
- 21:35Speaker 3: Gotta get specific over there.
- 21:37Speaker 6: I have green tea.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Okay, well, that's still pretty good. They do recommend, though,
- 21:41Speaker 1: this is what's so funny to me. They do recommend
- 21:44Speaker 1: that you let it cool a little bit because if
- 21:46Speaker 1: you drink really hot tea, it actually increases your risk
- 21:49Speaker 1: of heart attack.
- 21:51Speaker 4: You know, I was winning at life.
- 21:53Speaker 6: Now I'm like going downhill.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Now, this is just like an observational study, so it's
- 21:58Speaker 1: not like some magic fix, but a nice.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Lukewarm to warm cup of tea.
- 22:04Speaker 1: It's a pretty easy habit to include in your, you know,
- 22:07Speaker 1: daily or weekly routine, your weekly life. Do you have
- 22:11Speaker 1: a habit? That's healthy that you genuinely enjoy. 701-280-1987.
- 22:16Speaker 6: We just learned mine. I'm having tea and I'm doing
- 22:19Speaker 6: it right right now. So I'm living high.
- 22:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I'm trying to think it's because adding the that you
- 22:25Speaker 4: enjoy is the hard part. You know what though?
- 22:28Speaker 5: I will say I take a lot of pride in
- 22:31Speaker 5: being a hydrated hottie. I always make sure to be hydrated.
- 22:36Speaker 5: I know that that's very healthy. I used to have
- 22:40Speaker 5: kidney stones.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Like All the time.
- 22:43Speaker 5: And one of the things that the doctor said is, like,
- 22:46Speaker 5: why are you not drinking more water? Like, that's a
- 22:49Speaker 5: very easy preventative step. So I haven't had kidney stones
- 22:53Speaker 5: in years now. And, yeah, I'm a hydrate. If I
- 22:56Speaker 5: were not hydrated, I'd look even worse.
- 23:00Speaker 4: But being hydrated, I know it's so good for your skin.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It keeps you, you know, going. Like, the body needs
- 23:06Speaker 4: water to live.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 5: I don't know that I enjoy it, but I do
- 23:09Speaker 5: take pride in it.
- 23:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Drinking a lot of water actually helps limit or, like,
- 23:14Speaker 1: lessen the smell of B.O., too.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Did you know that?
- 23:17Speaker 2: What?
- 23:17Speaker 1: I did not. Yeah, I learned that in school, and
- 23:20Speaker 1: the only reason I remember it is because there was
- 23:22Speaker 1: a rhyme with it that was, the more you drink,
- 23:24Speaker 1: the less you stink, which... They want to tell 17-year-old boys.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I'm sure, because, you know, dudes in high school are gross.
- 23:32Speaker 4: That is amazing. Oh, I'm stealing that.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I'm laughing, though, because that was not something I was
- 23:38Speaker 2: told in high school.
- 23:39Speaker 6: But boys being told that, that makes sense.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly right.
- 23:43Speaker 1: We do have Kathy on the phone. Kathy, do you
- 23:45Speaker 1: have a healthy habit you genuinely enjoy?
- 23:47Speaker 8: I've started going on walks a lot and I really
- 23:50Speaker 8: enjoy it. I can walk for a couple miles and
- 23:53Speaker 8: just enjoy how my body and my mind feels after
- 23:56Speaker 8: the fact. And it's definitely really good for the body.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah, 1000%.
- 24:01Speaker 1: That's one of the best things for your body just
- 24:04Speaker 1: in general, because it's low impact. It's good for your heart.
- 24:07Speaker 1: You get to get out and, you know, get fresh air.
- 24:09Speaker 1: What do the kids say? Touch grass.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Touch grass.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I got well, I'm not touching grass, but I
- 24:14Speaker 5: did get a walking pad a few months ago. And so, yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 5: I do that and watch my shows. Watch my grown-up
- 24:21Speaker 5: shows downstairs while the kids are upstairs.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yeah. One of the habits that I have that I
- 24:27Speaker 1: think is pretty healthy is, you know, you ever hear
- 24:29Speaker 1: about how your snooze alarm is super bad for you
- 24:32Speaker 1: and it's terrible for your sleep and whatever? The best
- 24:36Speaker 1: healthy habit I have is I do not use a
- 24:38Speaker 1: snooze alarm ever, not once. in 2026 or 2025 so
- 24:42Speaker 1: this is kind of relatively new no snoozing for me
- 24:46Speaker 1: now that's great the bad news is when you have
- 24:49Speaker 1: a three month old at your house who maybe needs
- 24:51Speaker 1: to get woke up at 233 and you get up
- 24:54Speaker 1: to help there is no going back to sleep you
- 24:56Speaker 1: are just awake after so I guess there is a
- 24:59Speaker 1: plus and minus with that but I highly recommend getting
- 25:02Speaker 1: used to not using a snooze if you can do it.
- 25:04Speaker 1: It's pretty incredible. 701-280-1987, your healthy habit that you genuinely enjoy.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Starting off the day with something good.
- 25:18Speaker 9: This is Gabe's Good News on Big 98.7.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And Gabe's Good News of the Day today is about
- 25:26Speaker 1: a phone call that we received here earlier on Big 98.7
- 25:29Speaker 1: from Christy, where her and someone very close to her
- 25:34Speaker 1: just donated over 200 bras for bras.
- 25:41Speaker 3: On Big 98.7.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I love this.
- 25:45Speaker 3: What an incredible number.
- 25:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 3: What a cool phone call to get.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:49Speaker 5: Christy called and let us know that her mom has
- 25:51Speaker 5: been collecting bras basically all year.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 4: For bras on Big 98.7.
- 25:57Speaker 2: And they just dropped them all off at Corwin. And
- 26:00Speaker 2: I think that's so awesome. I think she said the
- 26:01Speaker 2: number was like 255.
- 26:03Speaker 4: That is insane. And I love it. Of course, bras
- 26:07Speaker 4: on big in the final stretch.
- 26:09Speaker 5: So if you go to any Corwin location and drop
- 26:12Speaker 5: off bras, they are going to donate $ 10 per bra
- 26:16Speaker 5: to essential health foundation to help those going through cancer
- 26:19Speaker 5: with comfort items.
- 26:20Speaker 3: That's right.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And then don't forget, if you are out and about
- 26:23Speaker 1: this weekend, who knows, maybe you're out watching.
- 26:25Speaker 3: The Bison game tomorrow at 9 p.m.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Don't forget to drink a McUltra Light or a McUltra
- 26:32Speaker 1: Zero as DS Beverages also in on donating for drinking those.
- 26:36Speaker 1: So let's finish it strong. I mean, it's been an incredible,
- 26:39Speaker 1: what is it, three weeks in October? Why not finish
- 26:42Speaker 1: out kind of this last week on a strong note?
- 26:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it. Thanks, Christy and your mom and everybody.
- 26:48Speaker 4: You got some bras to donate. You still have time.
- 26:51Speaker 2: And I'm going to give a shout out because she
- 26:52Speaker 2: said her mom worked at St. Francis Thrift Store and
- 26:54Speaker 2: that's where they were saving them. So a shout out
- 26:56Speaker 2: to them for the cause.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Very, very cool to hear about. And always a great reminder, too,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you don't need to drop off 255 bras. If you
- 27:05Speaker 1: have one or a couple in the back of the
- 27:08Speaker 1: drawer that haven't seen the light of day and Well,
- 27:11Speaker 1: long time. And you can donate them. Go ahead and
- 27:15Speaker 1: drop them off at any Corwin location. So very, very cool.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And thank you for that call, Christy. We appreciate it.
- 27:21Speaker 1: The world is full of nice people. If you can't
- 27:22Speaker 1: find one, you got to be one. And never forget
- 27:24Speaker 1: that broken crayons, they still color.
