- 0:11Welcome back to another edition of the be forever.
- 0:14Cool podcast with TJ from two wheels and coffee.
- 0:18What's going on man? What's going on?
- 0:20It's went to life ready for bike life.
- 0:23It's coming soon. Yeah, and not much going on now.
- 0:28Just just thinking about bikes, that's all apparent working
- 0:32every day feels like That's about it.
- 0:36Yeah. So I can get on the two whales.
- 0:41Yeah man. You know the winters are tough
- 0:44beat because you can't ride. I mean you know some days I do
- 0:48get out because I have heated gear and I try to get as much
- 0:52time on but it's it's not the same, you know, when you're out
- 0:56when you're riding definitely feel good for sure because it's
- 0:59better than not right in. But, you know, we would love
- 1:02that the the warm weather, right?
- 1:04Just like I feel This way every winter like the past, you know,
- 1:09the years. I've been riding not a good
- 1:12time. Yeah.
- 1:13And, and, and, you know, we want to talk about a little bit later
- 1:16on in the show. How do you, how do we pass?
- 1:19Our Winters here in the North East versus, you know, when the
- 1:25season kicks off and we can, you know, you do stuff, get out and
- 1:30play, three a lot to talk about today.
- 1:34In, in, in the, in the world of motorcycle racing and we'll kind
- 1:40of talk the talk about, you know, some of the, some of the
- 1:42clubs that are out there, you know?
- 1:45So let's talk about, you know, we started in New Hampshire.
- 1:50I started with the, the penguin motorcycle school, but Loudon,
- 1:55New Hampshire to obtain or racing license.
- 1:59In a point going to the penguin School is A part of the lrs back
- 2:06then, right. Which is a laden road racing
- 2:10think and then they switched it to name our are so it's
- 2:14Northeast motorcycle recent. So that's the motorcycle club,
- 2:18that one part of and along with that I've seen some other clubs
- 2:22racing with this club such as like Tony track days.
- 2:26Some clubs from New York but yeah, how did you start?
- 2:32Yeah, I mean I started the same way.
- 2:34And then, you know, so then you know, back then though it was it
- 2:38was ccs and azra. Llars was just one of the
- 2:44regions in the CCS azra, Siri club club essentially.
- 2:49And, and since then, that's pretty much the the, you know,
- 2:52once Neymar broke off. I guess, you know, dentists,
- 2:57like, with two clubs, I've done some track days at at Tony Tony
- 3:02track day, as well. And then, you know, this year,
- 3:06you know, this clubs like you know where it is, there's clubs
- 3:10like a HMR, a there's a, there's a, you know, AMA, there's a lot
- 3:16of clubs across this country. We can go race in order to
- 3:22attract day. Yeah, I have some friends that
- 3:25that was what the was an AMA that try to watch a lot of
- 3:30YouTube and I see some guys that are from that.
- 3:34The northeast or u.s. doing the professional side of that but
- 3:41the only Club I knew since I'm just new to it it's just a never
- 3:45mind. Neymar right now, right.
- 3:47Try to see if I can prove myself, maybe get a part of some
- 3:50other clubs because contains more licenses.
- 3:53Yeah and it's pretty easy because once once you have once
- 3:57you have a license from one of the clubs and you have proof of
- 4:01that, you took the class. It's you just Staring at these
- 4:04other clubs and then you just shown that proof you don't
- 4:06necessarily have to go through, you know, taking a track day,
- 4:13the day before and stuff like that.
- 4:14You can just to learn to track it with the new track, but you
- 4:17don't necessarily have to eat, but I just do a practice Day to,
- 4:22you know, so it's definitely a lot of clubs to get out there.
- 4:25There's clubs to get you out on the west coast.
- 4:27One day, I'm hoping to go race at Laguna Seca.
- 4:31So that's why I joined a HMR a To to get out there and even
- 4:37even we were just to just, you know, race at different tracks
- 4:40like bobber and some of these other tracks Mid-Ohio on these
- 4:43places that, you know, I haven't been to yet.
- 4:45So the best way to get around to race at different tracks is but
- 4:51you know, joining different clubs.
- 4:53Yeah. So you gotta definitely have all
- 4:55your tools ready to travel is that Laguna Seca is far.
- 4:59That is what a dream track. I want to go to as well, heard
- 5:03they re doing Doing everything. It's so I race that track on and
- 5:07on PlayStation and watching online, right?
- 5:10Yeah, watch Moto America race there.
- 5:12So looks like a fun track it. That's it does look like a fun
- 5:17track and and so I hope to I mean they're all fun.
- 5:19I can't say I've had you know, you might, you might have your
- 5:23favorites, I guess at some point but I think they're all kind of
- 5:26fun. Well, I didn't know when we
- 5:28first started racing that when you got me into it, is that you
- 5:32can race A different race tracks.
- 5:34That was a like a plus to me and I was like, oh, that's pretty
- 5:37cool. So I need to do this because I
- 5:39do want to try other tracks. And Laguna steak is very
- 5:42interesting. I'm glad you brought that one
- 5:44up. Yeah, no doubt.
- 5:46So you know we were talking before the before the before the
- 5:49show and you know you know going to the track and being a new
- 5:53Rider and stuff like that, you know, there's there's you know
- 5:57there's different tire brands that you you're going to have to
- 6:01get and you know, like Like you just started and you're the boys
- 6:06throat. It's going on the third season.
- 6:08And you have tried a different few different brands.
- 6:10And how do you feel about like different brands and you have
- 6:13favorites? Well, I can stand.
- 6:16And how did you pick that favorite?
- 6:19Well, On the street I was like the norm.
- 6:24So I went with like the Michelin Pilot Powers always had like the
- 6:29palette power to choose and I was just so comfortable with
- 6:31that tire. I didn't like any other Tire, I
- 6:35felt like I can leave pretty well on that tire.
- 6:38And then when it came to the track, the tires that were
- 6:41already set up for the bike where the bridgestone's some
- 6:44like, oh well, I guess I'll just have to figure this tire out
- 6:48and, you know, it went pretty well and Since You Know, Rich
- 6:53tone is hard to get, it's just a good opportunity to try another
- 6:57tire. So at the track, there's a
- 6:59Pirelli guy. So that was just a another
- 7:03choice. I started and the tires been
- 7:06good so far. I've been getting help with
- 7:07getting them so and it's a good way to try it out.
- 7:11I want to try to Michelin is as well, but apparently she's also
- 7:14been so now, good hot right now. So between the new Pirellis and
- 7:19and, and the Bridgestone The heavy note as a new Rider, do
- 7:25you see the, Can You Feel the difference?
- 7:27I'm still actually trying to get the feeling.
- 7:30I do. See a difference actually, when
- 7:31I first put on the tires, going into turn one.
- 7:35The front felt like almost lost. It was just a little different,
- 7:39like, lean angle, but there's so many different tire choices for
- 7:45Pirelli, which I makes it makes it pretty cool, right?
- 7:48Yeah. Like you can choose like what?
- 7:50Like that down the Temperature outside.
- 7:53And you know the patient running instead of just having you know
- 7:57just one sort of set like a soft or front soft or you know,
- 8:03medium or hard on the front or back right.
- 8:06And the other brands that do have that, that option is well
- 8:10and I know I know there's going to be folks in the comments
- 8:12saying, you know, there's other brands.
- 8:14So look at the other brands as well.
- 8:16But these new, these new Pirellis, I haven't tried them.
- 8:20But everyone in the paddock that we were at or around in Loudon
- 8:24and not just Loudon, a loving him, a loving these new Pirellis
- 8:28and and how much crap they have. Yeah, so so now you're hoping to
- 8:36try to Mitchell ins just because you want to try a different
- 8:39tires or I mean you know, see how it goes Pirelli, is the the
- 8:44choice as of right now, okay? Okay, so you're not gonna eat
- 8:49your pudding. Pearly, stickers on the bike for
- 8:51the foreseeable future until until something, either is
- 8:54better or better. Deal comes along.
- 8:56We know, I'm so there was a time I was at the track and there's
- 9:00like, I think there's SC One or SC2.
- 9:03Everyone runs. Yep.
- 9:04And they didn't have a vailable for the rear.
- 9:08So I'm like, oh, so if you need a new tire like, what do you do?
- 9:12So that's it was like, oh it just get it Michelin because the
- 9:16Michelin guy there, too. So yeah, you never know.
- 9:19I might have to run into a situation like that and you know
- 9:22hopefully I don't want to do that to mess with this
- 9:24oppression and stuff and and, you know, I will say this, we
- 9:26are talking about going from Tire brand to tie a brand to tie
- 9:29a brand. And, you know, You do have to
- 9:33get your suspension setup for every time you change tires.
- 9:37So I don't want anyone to think that.
- 9:38Oh, you can just swapped. I swapped eyes.
- 9:41You do have to get your suspension setup because your
- 9:43suspension is based on the tire, it's not solely, but based on
- 9:47the tire running tire size and a manufacturer as well.
- 9:51So, if you do try different brands.
- 9:54Finally suspension guy, have them make the adjustments for
- 9:57you and keep it moving. So, I actually didn't make any
- 10:00adjustments from the bridgestone's to the The
- 10:02Pirellis. No, I know you didn't but you
- 10:04supposed I know. So I was talking a lot of people
- 10:08and neighbors like you shouldn't feel much of a difference and
- 10:11there's a couple corners where you felt more of a bump or
- 10:15whatever but really not much of a difference, right?
- 10:19And feel like I got a little faster but I think an hour Pace
- 10:23it you not going to feel you're not going to notice the
- 10:25difference. I mean I think but on when
- 10:27you're running on it on the edges your they're getting them
- 10:31set up. Again, this is the only track
- 10:34I've been to, so it could play a part in a different, you know,
- 10:37track. So let's see how that goes.
- 10:40But yeah, I'm loving the Pirellis right now.
- 10:42Nice nice. Yeah.
- 10:44I started, you know, I started on SV with dunlop's and I think
- 10:50I went to Pirelli after dunlop's on because I was running
- 10:52Pirellis on the street and you know the dunlop's I was running
- 10:56came with the bike. So I kind of you know, it's not
- 10:59like it was my choice and I'm not, I love Dunlop tires for
- 11:02Carmela's Ours. Because so I'm not saying I
- 11:04don't like dunlop's, but I tried Pirellis and, and I enjoyed a
- 11:07Pirellis, a lot. And when I switched bikes, I
- 11:11still ran power pearlies on my on our six.
- 11:15And you know, I always had movement on the pearlies I had
- 11:20back then coming out coming out of turn, three going up the hill
- 11:25and so I end up switching to Mitchell ins because a lot of
- 11:29you know Jesse was running Mitchell.
- 11:30Ins a lot of guys around there was running Mitchell ins and and
- 11:34I love the Michelin and and I pretty much been running on my
- 11:37switch to Bridgestone 44-minute Monica, just cut costs But the
- 11:42mentioned the bridgestone's were very similar to the to the to
- 11:45the to the Mitchell ends. And you know, then I switch back
- 11:49to to Mitchell ends after that. And everything I've been running
- 11:52Mitchell has ever since, and I'm on defense this year because
- 11:56action probably going to stay with Michelin and even though a
- 11:58lot of people run into Pirellis, I you know they work you know I
- 12:03mean and and so I am going to stick with them until until they
- 12:08don't work for me anymore I suppose or I gotta go.
- 12:11A good Pirelli deal or something like that.
- 12:13Hey guys, stop there with the, a strong go to it which, you know?
- 12:17Yeah. At this point, you know, I mean
- 12:18because, you know, if if I was having issues with them and in
- 12:23the tracks and different tracks and stuff like that, if I was
- 12:25just another day been pretty consistent.
- 12:27And, you know, so we'll see they're about the tire feel.
- 12:31So like I realized like on the street, you have a choice of
- 12:35Tire. We're feels comfortable, but do
- 12:37you know how it really works? And I realized on the track
- 12:40side, you really figure out a tie. you know, coming out of
- 12:43Corners, like you said, you get a couple of slippage is here
- 12:46there, you know, you know, throughout the race could see
- 12:48like when it's wearing off, you know, so think, you know,
- 12:55breaking in a tire on the track is very important so you can
- 12:58figure out what tire you like, that's how I'm the the, like I
- 13:02said that the bridgestone's I had a couple storages here and
- 13:07there and then when I went to the Pirellis, I had a lot going
- 13:10into turn Three right there. Also weren't like brand new
- 13:13tires and it's just all about figuring out, you know, how much
- 13:18power to put into it. But everyone says, oh, no,
- 13:21that's good then, you know, just give him a little more throttle,
- 13:25you know, right. Right there.
- 13:27They'll stick. That's they say it's and and
- 13:29they've been sticking so far. They're mistaken so far.
- 13:32Yeah, there you go, you know, along with tires, you know,
- 13:36make, you know, obviously, I bring ties to the track but, you
- 13:39know, travel with an air pump. You know, it, you know,
- 13:42sometimes, you know, or compress or whatever the case may be, you
- 13:47know, battery-operated join, you have to take some air out of the
- 13:50tire. You're going to put some air in
- 13:51the tire. I've seen guys with bike pumps.
- 13:56It's very whatever you could use for air and if you could just
- 13:59have a gauge to check the with the level is, you know, I'm
- 14:04always impressed with the guys with the pump.
- 14:06I tried it. The the bicycle pump, I tried
- 14:09it. I, you know, I think you get a
- 14:10pretty good reading. From that from that.
- 14:12But that's a lotta. That's a lot of energy to expel.
- 14:17And then go out and and then go ride, I've settled for the
- 14:22rechargeable. You know, tire pressure tire
- 14:25pump and, and, and, and just a tire pressure gauge to check it
- 14:31now Tire. Warmers have you, you know,
- 14:34like, you know, what do you thought so, you know what I want
- 14:37because you're still getting, you know, I think you and your
- 14:39first brand but you got to get even Good brand.
- 14:43Yeah, I got the chicken. Hawk was my first brand when I
- 14:46started with the Slicks and they actually worked really well.
- 14:52The, the what I like about them is they have the temperature
- 14:55control, which I think is really important, right?
- 14:58A lot of Tire warmers will have just one temperature to keep
- 15:02them hot. I don't know what the degrees
- 15:04is. Maybe like 80 120 something like
- 15:07that. I think it depends I guess
- 15:09either one setting ikey. I think it's like 160 or
- 15:15something. We can we can look it up but I
- 15:17think is how I because I keep my settings around 170 here, so 174
- 15:25on my tie. Warm is so yeah there's a lot of
- 15:28different ones. So I just have a high and low.
- 15:30Like my high goes up to I think 170 or 180 and then they will
- 15:35shut off and, you know, keep them at that temperature into
- 15:40ready to use and then the location.
- 15:41I think is 120. Yeah 120 or no.
- 15:46I think it's a little higher than don't know.
- 15:48Didn't 120. Yeah you should definitely look
- 15:50it up. You know, my first my first set
- 15:54was gifted to me so I it was like one setting and she was
- 15:59such a new Rider. You're not that I wasn't, you
- 16:03know, pushing that hard and then the second set I got it was used
- 16:08and used chicken hawk. Do you know?
- 16:11So they and and they had a digital temperature so I can set
- 16:14it to whatever. I'd like you know and you know I
- 16:18will say that Whit would you know the settings that you can
- 16:21you can manipulate, you know, it's always good to check your
- 16:24tire. Manufacture whoever whoever is
- 16:27selling at the, you know, that day.
- 16:30They can tell you what pressure, you should be running and
- 16:32probably what you're tired woman should be and all that fun stuff
- 16:35and even when you should turn them all like an hour before, or
- 16:38whatever, depending on the brand and stuff like that because you
- 16:42know, some people, you know, not every Thai warm, you're going to
- 16:44leave on your tire all day. Some users, you just got to put
- 16:47on like an hour before, so that way you don't overcook, the tire
- 16:51as well. Yeah, try to put it on, at least
- 16:5345 minutes to an hour before. You know, just to get them, get
- 16:59them ready right? You want to overcook, the tire
- 17:01either. So sometimes I might put their
- 17:03the rear one on high and then the front window and low right
- 17:09Ryan halfway through. I'll just do the front one back
- 17:12on High Country. Let's just write this tires but
- 17:16you know, I didn't know. There's like you can't go
- 17:19through a lot of heat Cycles as well.
- 17:20Correct. That's what I was just going to
- 17:22say that. That that is a good thing where
- 17:24I got to keep track. I'll get Heats like yeah and
- 17:27bring the bring a notebook like I said and a heat cycle
- 17:30centuries when you you heat your tires up and they cool down so
- 17:34and and and that's what you want to keep track of because too
- 17:38many heat Cycles. The tile I will come slippery
- 17:43even if it feels like it's new. Yeah yeah exactly.
- 17:46So you definitely want to keep track of that.
- 17:48You also want to keep track of how many laps you do want to
- 17:50Tire. You need to do.
- 17:54Yeah, you know you definitely want.
- 17:56You know, you know, get you, whatever digital notebook or or
- 17:59or you know, paper, but you want to keep track of how many laps
- 18:02you doing the tires, you know, with with practice sessions and
- 18:06races and you doing certain races, you know, the eighth lap
- 18:08races is kind of easy to figure out.
- 18:11So it's not like, you know, but if you know practice sessions,
- 18:14you kind of have to do that. But at least in the race, you
- 18:16know, because you know how many laps you did.
- 18:18Yeah. So I can get a little quick
- 18:20story about having old tires. Let's say that, you know, try To
- 18:26hold on, you know, just you just concern yourself doing laughs
- 18:29trying to save a tire. And you know, I went down and
- 18:34told people how long I had the tire and they were like me
- 18:37crazy. Yeah, and you know, the fact,
- 18:40the tire felt fine and I knew that I could probably handle the
- 18:43pace. I was running.
- 18:44But as you know, you get more experience.
- 18:46You trying to keep up and you moving faster but I just
- 18:49couldn't hold out anymore and I didn't really keep track of how
- 18:53many laps I did on the tire. It was kind of how many sessions
- 18:56Ends. And then I was like, all right,
- 18:57kind of doing the math. How many sessions I did and how
- 19:00many laughs and I'm like, alright, I done over 100 Laps on
- 19:03this tire. Wow.
- 19:04Yeah, yeah, yeah. It wasn't good.
- 19:08And from, from then, that's when I was very particular about
- 19:12tires. Now that's why I like Pirelli
- 19:14and options that they give you in and just, you know on one
- 19:18hand. It I find this kind of good to
- 19:20be on one tires and riding on what size, you know, it.
- 19:26It can shoot because if you do it endurance race or anything
- 19:28like that, you know, how to finish the race.
- 19:31Yeah, you know, you know how to, you know, manage the race a
- 19:34little bit better, you know, it's like riding in the rain,
- 19:37you know, those things kind of go hand in hand.
- 19:39Sometimes just going out there and and you know and I think in
- 19:43the field it's the only Advantage is riding on worn.
- 19:47Tires is if it says doing 25 laps and stuff like that, I
- 19:50don't know how I feel at the end, but if you do the 180, use
- 19:53the GTOs, you know, you know, you might get 20.
- 19:56Send depended on the track but yeah, you always gotta check
- 19:59your tires. Make sure there have some meat
- 20:02on them and just know how to use them through the corners, you
- 20:06know? No doubt, no doubt.
- 20:09Then the, you know, we did we we've covered a lot in in the
- 20:13episodes that we've done so far, but we really haven't touched on
- 20:17on helmets, you know, and kind of how, how, how to, you know,
- 20:22would you know? It's one thing you know, when
- 20:25you, when you're sitting here Thinking about I got my suit, I
- 20:27got get all these things and blah, blah blah.
- 20:29And it's like, okay. I like that helmet and then and
- 20:32then you go there and and and, and what's your experience been
- 20:35like so far, you know, when you go to go get the helmet, you
- 20:38want to get? Well, the helmet that I have is
- 20:41agv and every time I go there, like all get a showy, it's
- 20:45easier to like find the tag or when it's like, you know, the
- 20:49date that it's like good until but I had a icon.
- 20:56Helmet and think scorpion. My first one right Icon helmet
- 21:03was just way too heavy. Hmm once I found the agv and
- 21:07house off the cushion was and I light it was and it just fit my
- 21:11head perfectly. I just love that brand and you
- 21:14know everyone's favorite Riders Rossi you know he has a lot of
- 21:19designs. Yeah on the street riding you
- 21:21know, I thought this is eyes were cool so I always had a cool
- 21:24design helmets. And then when I got to the
- 21:27track, that's what I brought and they're like yeah you need the
- 21:31easy eject, you need this. So I'm like up ching.
- 21:37Ching, ching ching. Right, right so I got the easier
- 21:40Jack put it in but now I stick with the agv.
- 21:44I think that how much we good fit for myself and A lot of
- 21:49people use showy or rye which are real racing helmets would
- 21:54say well, I mean even though good racing helmet manufacturers
- 22:02who want to make race helmets but the you know cos y zg v
- 22:06cause like you know you're spending over a grand for a nice
- 22:10racing helmet right now. A nice show.
- 22:12We are awry, you spending over 600 all 600 but you know people
- 22:17like the designs as well. If you Not into that, right?
- 22:20Yeah, I I'm a fan of AVG. Sadly, my head is not a fan of
- 22:27PG because I can't fit into one of those helmets and be
- 22:31comfortable and so, you know, is showy and so I'ma show you guys
- 22:38because it fits and honestly, I like them now.
- 22:44So but maybe one day I'll get a AVG just to, to have it, you
- 22:48know? Sitting on my my wall is
- 22:50something like that. But you know, when you go, when
- 22:53you go to get your helmet, you know, you might have your heart
- 22:57set on something and it may not fit all the costs may not fit,
- 23:01you know, let me know. It may not even be a racing
- 23:04helmet debts, you know, qualified to be to go on the
- 23:06track. So do some research, a beautiful
- 23:09thing about the internet as you can you don't have to leave your
- 23:11house to get disappointed. You can figure out what you can,
- 23:15what you can get and it's best to go get it.
- 23:17Go get fitted. The old And and go into a race
- 23:20shop, then didn't just order online, unless you're, you know,
- 23:22you're good at measuring yourself.
- 23:24Yeah, I got some helmet and race advice.
- 23:27Get fog Shield. Yeah, I still need to get one
- 23:31myself. I've been on the track and my
- 23:35advisors he's locked up. Get your eyes open a little bit.
- 23:37Try to get some air in there. The only time to do that is like
- 23:40on the straightaway for like one second.
- 23:43Yeah and you're lucky you kind of know the track.
- 23:47You can kind of get around but And the crazy part.
- 23:50What will show you? Anyway, it comes with your
- 23:51helmet. Yes.
- 23:53So, you know, and I just must be the type of agv helmet that I'm
- 23:56getting. Uh-huh.
- 23:57It's not like the actual race got to the helmet.
- 24:00Yeah, you know, generic version. So if you get a visor, make sure
- 24:07you get that with the helmet. Make sure it's nice and tight.
- 24:10So you can shake your head, doesn't move, you know, right?
- 24:13Right. Nice.
- 24:16You know, all the things that we've been talking about so far
- 24:19Are, you know, Ty is Ty. Warm is, you know, pumps and
- 24:23helmets and all this stuff and it's very costly, right?
- 24:27So as a new Rider do you, do you, do you think you should
- 24:32consider getting into sponsorships and trying to find
- 24:35sponsors to help you know, cover some calls?
- 24:40So maybe give you some discounts on Parts.
- 24:43You know, what are your thoughts on on sponsors?
- 24:47Give getting a Sir. Well, I thought it was pretty
- 24:50cool. I mean I'm still new to, you
- 24:52know, how to get sponges and stuff like that and being a part
- 24:57of the race club, you have to kind of graduate first from a
- 25:01novice, you know, know how to ride the track and, you know,
- 25:05know all your points. And then once you get to an
- 25:07amateur, you're eligible for sponsorship.
- 25:09So I started off with Woodcraft, which are start trying to
- 25:14continue, and I got a vortex as well.
- 25:19So those are the two that I had and hindle exhaust, but try to
- 25:25reach out to some more places. No, get some more more help
- 25:30along the way to get some discounts on Parts.
- 25:32If you need them, because you won't need parts and need some
- 25:37help to continue racing because it is expensive.
- 25:40If you want to, you know, keep going down the line, right?
- 25:44And yeah. And for me, it's, I waited, I
- 25:46just, you know, I I didn't even think about it, really.
- 25:51I just kind of was just trying to become a better writer.
- 25:53And really I probably should have because, you know, what I
- 25:57realize is there, you know, companies that will give you
- 26:01discounts on parts or even, you know, give you free stuff and
- 26:06you know that can that can help it.
- 26:07So, you know, I'm I've started last year and this year and
- 26:12especially, you know, if you're somebody that falls a lot, you
- 26:14know, being able to get rich, you know, replacement parts at a
- 26:16discount is savings on you. You know, you do have to do
- 26:19things though. It's not like, they don't give
- 26:21you discounts, you don't, you have to be active on social
- 26:24media promoting their brand, you know.
- 26:27So you do have to be active. You don't necessarily have to be
- 26:29winning races or doing a thousand races, you just got to
- 26:33be active. I mean, there's even, you know,
- 26:35you know, local places that you can probably reach out that that
- 26:38might be fans of motorcycles. That might even, you know, throw
- 26:42those some do something, your way.
- 26:45I think it's cool, though, you know, when even when you know
- 26:47promoting it because you see, The new stuff is coming out with
- 26:50I'm like oh wow I didn't know they made that for this type of
- 26:52bike you know and if anyone's getting into writing even Street
- 26:58I would recommend these parts over anything else so it's good
- 27:03to share, definitely, you know, so ya know it.
- 27:07You know, it's definitely good to try to get out there and get
- 27:09sponsors, you know, doing these shows and stuff like that.
- 27:13You know, you know, we know now we got golf GoPros a sponsor
- 27:17and, and know so we could We get discounts off stuff and that's
- 27:20pretty good and we get to tell people to go, you know, they've
- 27:23got a GoPro and but we use them. So that's the thing and and you
- 27:27know, stuff that you use try to reach out to them.
- 27:31There is a website called hook it.
- 27:33I think they just got bought by another company is free to sign
- 27:36up. They do have premier stuff.
- 27:38You do you do, you do have access to sponsors through that
- 27:42but again, it's one of those things you have to be active
- 27:45with, you know, digital side of things, you know, getting
- 27:48getting Rose on your bike. You know, taking photos of your
- 27:51bike. Promoting your gear being active
- 27:53and doing these things. As you know, we have we have
- 27:56folks on one guy's going to have him, come on, you know, you can,
- 28:00you can, you know, as long as you're active on social media
- 28:05and promoting, you know, companies out there will see
- 28:09that, and they know the value in that who's not active on social
- 28:13media, nowadays should be, that should be easy.
- 28:18Yay, No, it should be easy. Yeah, you definitely should be
- 28:22easy, but it'll, you know, you gotta, you gotta put the time
- 28:25and so you know, you're not, you know, I'm not going to sit here
- 28:28and say how far you can get, but at least getting a discount on
- 28:30stuff, is better than paying full price.
- 28:34And if you're already active on social media, like TJ saying,
- 28:37then it's easy to, you know, you might as well just, you know,
- 28:42just, you know, you can learn how to do writer proposal
- 28:47online, you know, they've been just about everything is online.
- 28:51So you know, you can learn how to do it, put something together
- 28:54and reach out to some of these companies and you know, they'll
- 28:57check you out. Yeah, that's what I noticed.
- 28:59Also to actually sign up as Parts as you Most likely need a
- 29:05rider proposal. So yeah this easy to check
- 29:08online just you know tell it's just like a resume.
- 29:13You know of you ready? Yes.
- 29:16See what you can bring to the table and your goals and stuff
- 29:19like that. So that's good to set up, no
- 29:22doubt. And with that, you know, you
- 29:24have your sponsors, you got your bike, you got your tires, you
- 29:28got your gear, you know, it last thing you need is a way to get
- 29:33around. The track because you don't want
- 29:36to walk around a racetrack with your feet, unless you just
- 29:40really, really, really, really love walking.
- 29:42I did that the first time I went to the track just walking turn
- 29:46eight. Welcome to Tire one.
- 29:49You know, I'm like a, I'm not watching the next race.
- 29:51Just how I'll meet you back. Put your bike on a stick.
- 29:55It gets old, you know, one-wheeled thingamajiggy that's
- 29:59electrocute. Us a kick scooter.
- 30:02Electric Kick Scooter. Gasps Cooter bicycle, tricycle
- 30:09try motorcycle, whatever dirt bikes mini bikes but whatever
- 30:15that has wheels that's going to miss you easy.
- 30:19Oh yeah and and sometimes your will disappear in the show back
- 30:23up exactly. Everyone uses to get around but
- 30:26yes that doesn't. That's a part of it.
- 30:28I would say this if you let somebody use your bike once
- 30:33they're going to use. Your bike for the rest of the
- 30:36time you go trick or scooter scooter, whatever it is.
- 30:39It's like, it's like you said, go ahead.
- 30:40Take it that. Go ahead.
- 30:41Take it is infinite. So I remember, I have my bike,
- 30:45someone used my bike, so I use your scooter exam when I came
- 30:49back, the person will have my bike was back, but my bike was
- 30:52gone. Go somebody else.
- 30:54So that I wrote up to turn the bowl with the scooter, you know,
- 30:58I've got who had it, but I think it was Lloyd.
- 31:01Yeah. Yeah.
- 31:01I was like, you rode my bike up here cuz, you know, Bike is
- 31:04small. You know I bring it in pieces.
- 31:07Right as like one break. He's like oh thank God.
- 31:10I just wish up so I found my bike but you know you gotta have
- 31:14ways to get around. Definitely definitely have a
- 31:16good the bathroom washed times. It helps you at 3:00 in the
- 31:21morning I go to the bathroom kind of cool but it's better
- 31:24than walking. Oh yeah, especially if the back
- 31:27Loop is far away or weenie in the in the parking lot of
- 31:30setting up and they call for a meeting all the other side.
- 31:33Oh yeah. Not so, definitely have us some
- 31:35mode to get around. And I'm always, it's always cool
- 31:39to see what people come up with because there's some very
- 31:42creative first folks out there to be on Chinese scooters.
- 31:46Mopeds dirt bikes. Oh yeah.
- 31:50Motorcycles things that they've created it's beautiful to see
- 31:56what our skateboards. Oh yeah, definitely, you see it
- 32:01all man. So I think we touched on on, you
- 32:06know, he eating and staying hydrated but you know, we wanted
- 32:11to talk about it more because these diseases, you know, the
- 32:14day of race and, you know, definitely, you know, you know,
- 32:18try to stay hydrated as much as possible.
- 32:21And it's a cool thing about the club clubs aren't folks are
- 32:25walking around. Reminding you?
- 32:27Oh, yeah. You know, it's very important
- 32:30and you can get dehydrated, very quickly in one weekend, If
- 32:35you're not do not stay hydrated, you could wake up.
- 32:37He's bad. I'm like wow, I don't I didn't
- 32:39drink enough water it dehydrate just thinking about the day of
- 32:43racing. Yeah it's just it's even though
- 32:44you doing nothing, I'm definitely whatever your
- 32:47pleasure is, you know, whatever, do whatever, you know, Gatorade
- 32:50water, mixed whatever, you know, definitely stay hydrated and
- 32:55then plan your meals because, you know, this time that I've
- 32:58put off eating and it's just like, you know than incidents
- 33:02happening in your waiting for the track.
- 33:03And by Are you going you're going to get on a track as 3:00
- 33:06and you really haven't eaten anything Grand.
- 33:08And when you don't have, you know, your body at optimal, you
- 33:13know, strength, it's not fun out there.
- 33:14Now, you got to definitely make sure it's nothing heavy.
- 33:19Just enough to keep, you know yourself.
- 33:23Like float. Yeah, exactly everyone is
- 33:25different, you know? Yeah, everyone is different.
- 33:27So you know yourself you know is this folks that just do
- 33:30smoothies and they're good for a all day?
- 33:33There's other folks that you know you know I got you got to
- 33:35have a meal but I remember there was a time when yous going out
- 33:38there you're like it I can't do it at something I ate.
- 33:41Yeah yeah. Yeah I can't I don't think he'll
- 33:44make it around the track. No not exactly.
- 33:46You know I've had I've had yeah there's all type of things
- 33:49happen but I've had a few situations.
- 33:51Where is this like oh yeah. Yeah, that's going to come up.
- 33:54I gotta you gotta make sure you hydrate it for sure.
- 33:57You know you keep it like a granola bar a couple sandwiches
- 34:02you know like peanut butter and jelly something small, just the
- 34:05get you over through the end of the race day and make sure you
- 34:08never did a plan go right at it. No doubt.
- 34:13No doubt. I think, you know, that's it.
- 34:16I think for the show Almost, you know, this offseason is this
- 34:21offseason and in You know, you know what are some of the things
- 34:25that you, you try to, what are you doing?
- 34:28The things you're doing to get through to offseason?
- 34:31Just besides this podcast, prepare preparing to see what I
- 34:36can do to get like the bike service and getting all my
- 34:38equipment ready. It's hard budget and everything
- 34:41were bills through and stuff like that, but also trying to
- 34:47stay focused on the track. So like, you know, play video
- 34:49games in my downtime for like an hour or something like that.
- 34:53But also, you know, trying to get this going and I don't do
- 34:59too. I've been skiing, but I don't go
- 35:01skiing in the winter. Like most people, I don't do the
- 35:03ice racing, right? Well not don't haven't gotten to
- 35:07it yet. Yeah, with the right with the
- 35:08right crew, I know some people who do it, but, you know,
- 35:11there's a couple go-karts around.
- 35:13I've been trying to do that again.
- 35:16It just like a local meet up, then I'm tryna keep going.
- 35:19Hopefully put some information about that soon.
- 35:22Nice. You know, to supercharge or
- 35:26something like that. Right.
- 35:27Right. Yeah.
- 35:28I've been out racing folks around.
- 35:30Nice. Yeah.
- 35:31So I've been watching a lot of MotoGP reruns, essentially Orbit
- 35:37on that. You know, and and like BSB and
- 35:41motor America races, and, you know, I've been watching stuff
- 35:43like 2004 and 2005 and, you know, MotoGP stuff.
- 35:48And it's, you know, I've done that before, but it's cool to
- 35:52go. Re-watch these things and, and,
- 35:54and kind of like, you know, kind of get in perspective, like, you
- 35:58know, Valentino winning like five, you know, championships in
- 36:02a row like that, that like, you know, that what kind of rare,
- 36:07you know, you gotta figure out like why he's Rossi.
- 36:09Yeah. Like why everyone wear Jordans,
- 36:12like what did he do? You know, you know, seeing you
- 36:14know, young Nicky Hayden coming in at you know 2021 and and
- 36:19finding this way and and you know you know doing Ellen, I
- 36:23believe it was a 2005 because I think he finished third in 2005
- 36:27before he won the title in 2006. So you can kind of see, like
- 36:31from to, I think he came in 2002 if memory serves correctly and,
- 36:35and work his way up to the Repsol, Honda team and finished
- 36:39third in the championship, when Rossi won it in 2005 and the
- 36:43Cadence man. Yeah.
- 36:45And and, you know, so I've been doing that watching some, you
- 36:48know, I started getting into like, you know, BSB and watch
- 36:51British Superbike. And watching British Superbike
- 36:54and like I started watching even the European League FMI fim
- 36:59championship and and like a movie star.
- 37:02Those, you know, algebra gear from when he came into moto2
- 37:06last year. But the year before he was, he
- 37:09was tearing it up in the league and, and even like the
- 37:12Australian League there, the community Canadian.
- 37:14There's so many different championships out there for
- 37:17motorcycle racing and so, you know, been filling my time
- 37:22watching a lot of That a lot but I watch a race, you know,
- 37:25probably every day. I mean actually I've been in
- 37:28been also doing that myself watching races and the funny
- 37:31thing is before riding on the track like who would watch
- 37:35racing? I do I watch it when I was on TV
- 37:37or I wasn't really into it. Yeah.
- 37:39So I just started really watching racing probably like
- 37:42two thousand eighteen or nineteen.
- 37:44Yep. When I like had an idea to go on
- 37:46a track like I tried on a track suit around then like yeah my go
- 37:49on the track soon so I started watching racing again, you know.
- 37:53You want to get see how it is like especially when I you start
- 37:56writing, watch how to ride videos, right?
- 37:59And then I started watching it and following it by the year.
- 38:03So now that the offseason I have been going back and watching
- 38:06some old footage, which is pretty cool.
- 38:09Like, learn history. Yeah.
- 38:12See, see how it all came about. Like I said, you know,
- 38:14everyone's wearing Rossi's helmets and like Jordan.
- 38:17Yeah, everyone's running sneakers e.
- 38:20They want to see in Rossi and his late years and his 40s right
- 38:22in. You're going to see where you
- 38:23came from to. Yeah.
- 38:25Speaking of Jordan, I mean, Jordan was one of the last races
- 38:29and he rides motorcycles, but he always.
- 38:32He also had a race team back in the day.
- 38:35And, you know, it's pretty wild. The amount of people that that
- 38:38love motorcycles. You know, he followed you
- 38:40already, like way you ride bikes to.
- 38:42Yeah. He has his own teeth.
- 38:43Are definitely a big family man. Yeah.
- 38:46So, we're gonna wrap up the show and we'll say this, we, you
- 38:49know, where we got some, you know, we're going to be talking
- 38:52about EP a little bit more as as a season start with the with the
- 38:56wintertime with the test coming up and next month.
- 38:59And, you know, some to world superbike stuff as well.
- 39:02So we have a lot of cool things planned for be forever.
- 39:06Cool. Yeah.
- 39:08So motor America, you know, so some kids that we ride with that
- 39:12participating in Moto America so for sure and you're going to be
- 39:17holding it down talking about you know, been Gladdy and like
- 39:20teak T Hobbs and and These other Riders so haven't met all of
- 39:27them like personally but I've been around them at the track.
- 39:31This is another one that's going this year, Crossman Jacob.
- 39:37I think okay, okay, yep me Eli we might be doing some stuff.
- 39:42Okay. All right so it's a good to be
- 39:44around these guys kids fashion. Yeah.
- 39:46It's because there's very fast kids in our on a world.
- 39:51That's very fast kids. And it's so cool to see.
- 39:54It's cool to see guys. Like you, watch these kids on TV
- 39:57and see the kids potential on TV and I should be around my person
- 40:01seeing what they could do and you know they're just training
- 40:04with us and you know we're trying to get better from them.
- 40:07No doubt it's to be forever. Cool podcast, my name is Rex 45,
- 40:12my name is t.j. with 2000. Cough up piece Lisa
