- 0:01Speaker 1: I loved hearing you talk about the art of an
- 0:03Speaker 1: apology and what apologies mean anymore and whether they're real
- 0:06Speaker 1: or not. I have an apology in a moment that
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm going to share with my audience, with you, this audience.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I owe you an apology. I owe this audience an apology.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And I'll tell you what that– yep. No, I do. Oh, my.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I've been thinking a lot about it, and I'm going
- 0:19Speaker 1: to come clean on something because I was wrong yesterday.
- 0:21Speaker 2: If you're going to grovel over some honestly held view
- 0:25Speaker 2: that you held.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You never have to do that. No, I'm not going
- 0:28Speaker 1: to grovel, but what I'm going to do is set
- 0:30Speaker 1: the record straight because I was wrong yesterday. And when
- 0:33Speaker 1: you're wrong, I mean, you know, Mr. Big Shot Talk
- 0:36Speaker 1: Show host, I know you don't apologize. I like apologizing.
- 0:40Speaker 1: When I'm wrong, so I'm going to... But let me
- 0:43Speaker 1: tell you how wrong I was yesterday. Can I share...
- 0:46Speaker 1: As you love to say, 60 seconds on my day yesterday.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Of course. So I find out there's some medical news,
- 0:51Speaker 1: and we're not going to bog down on Mike's medical travails.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I joke about being a hypochondriac. They found a blockage
- 0:58Speaker 1: in the old widow maker of me. Now, you know,
- 1:00Speaker 1: you went through this a while ago.
- 1:01Speaker 2: The left anterior descending artery, correct?
- 1:05Speaker 1: The LAD. The LAD, 52% in my case, it turns out.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I did one of those CT scans with contrast and all.
- 1:12Speaker 1: And the doctor said, look, it's not great. It's not mild.
- 1:15Speaker 1: It's moderate. But it's not tragic. I think the barometer,
- 1:21Speaker 1: they say, is 70% or more before they start getting it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That's why they were plumbing through me for my heart catheterization.
- 1:30Speaker 2: If it was 70, they were going to go a
- 1:31Speaker 2: stint right there, and mine was like 30. So I
- 1:34Speaker 2: got 30, you got 50, and look at me. I mean,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I love sausage. What? So anyway.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Well, my life is changing as of yesterday. I already
- 1:42Speaker 1: did the hour at the gym. I'm going to do
- 1:44Speaker 1: the gym every day. I mean, I'm down 30 pounds
- 1:46Speaker 1: since June thanks to PhD.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You're going to be in suck. Oh, yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 1: God bless you.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Did you see my reply to you? You said, here's
- 1:54Speaker 2: my life now, and it shows you on some exercise cycle.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I said, I like mine better, and it was shrimp
- 1:59Speaker 2: tacos and a margarita.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Exactly. And yours is better because that's my life for
- 2:04Speaker 1: the last 66 years, and that's why now I've got
- 2:06Speaker 1: plaque in my arteries. So, you know, oh, yeah, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: might become a bicyclist. I might become one of those
- 2:12Speaker 1: obnoxious bicyclists. Oh, no. I'm going to go get the
- 2:15Speaker 1: Speedo hat and everything. No, no, no. I won't be
- 2:17Speaker 1: that bad. But, you know, look, this is what happens
- 2:20Speaker 1: when you get a lifetime of cheeseburgers and pasta. You know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: penne alla vodka. That's too much of that. But that's okay. So, anyhow,
- 2:26Speaker 1: that was going on yesterday. I got another follow-up with
- 2:29Speaker 1: the doctor today. But let me tell you what happened
- 2:30Speaker 1: when I went home. And you're going to love this.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I almost called you last night. I thought, no, I'll
- 2:34Speaker 1: save it for 735. Even there. I decide my condo
- 2:38Speaker 1: closed this week. And that's great news. I'm in a
- 2:41Speaker 1: new home, which I love. I love this new place.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I love where I am. Not far from where I was.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Still got a big, nice high rise, beautiful water views.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm happy, right? And I thought, let me go home
- 2:54Speaker 1: after this kind of unsettling news about the stupid blockage.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And let me get out the closing documents from my condo.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I haven't read them yet. And let me just review them.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And I'm going to go out onto the balcony. And
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm going to sit there. It was a beautiful day
- 3:10Speaker 1: yesterday evening and yesterday afternoon in Tampa Bay. I'm going
- 3:13Speaker 1: to just kind of peruse through the document. It's 27 pages. Double-sided,
- 3:19Speaker 1: so 14. That matters here to this story. I put
- 3:22Speaker 1: the document down on the table next to my little
- 3:25Speaker 1: easy chair, and I put the Diet Coke with me,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and I put the Diet Coke on top of the
- 3:30Speaker 1: document because I thought, I'm going to put my slippers on.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Is it breezy outside?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Mark, the gust of wind that came along as I
- 3:40Speaker 1: turned away to go in and get my slippers was
- 3:42Speaker 1: like right out of The Wizard of Oz. I expected
- 3:45Speaker 1: to see Dorothy and the witch flying by. It took
- 3:49Speaker 1: the document, flew them all up into the air. I'm screaming,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and about five or six of the pages go flying
- 3:58Speaker 1: over the balcony. Now, I'm up in the air. Now,
- 4:02Speaker 1: do you know what's on closing documents for a house?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Virtually everything personal about you, your finances, everything.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I think the only thing it doesn't have is the
- 4:12Speaker 1: type of bone marrow I have in my system.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It's on page 24. I looked.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Mark, not only does it have the social security number,
- 4:20Speaker 1: it's repeatedly got my social security number. It's got my
- 4:24Speaker 1: driver's license number. It's got my signature. It's got my
- 4:28Speaker 1: bank accounts. It's got the loan numbers. It's got everything.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm thinking, and I'm screaming like a little girl. Rightfully so.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And I'm watching the pages flutter like 25 stories down
- 4:43Speaker 1: to the ground. So I go running downstairs in a
- 4:47Speaker 1: total panic. You should see me. I'm clawing papers out
- 4:52Speaker 1: of the bushes, out of the palm tree. Oh, it's unbelievable.
- 4:56Speaker 2: The Benny Hill music running back. Oh, it was insane.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And so I get everything back except three pages I
- 5:02Speaker 1: can't get back. One of them is on the roof
- 5:04Speaker 1: of the building next to me. I had to go
- 5:05Speaker 1: to the manager.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That seems safe now.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Oh, I went to get the engineer. They had to
- 5:09Speaker 1: go out on the roof. I had to tip the guy.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Not only was it breezy, there was an updraft. Oh, yeah. Well, no.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I mean, no, no, no. I'm up 20-some stories. Well,
- 5:19Speaker 1: the roof was only six stories tall. I can see
- 5:21Speaker 1: the pages on the roof from my balcony. So I
- 5:23Speaker 1: had to go to that balcony. Well, anyway, long story short,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I go to chat GPT, AI, here we go. What
- 5:30Speaker 1: do you do when you know your whole identity has
- 5:32Speaker 1: been compromised? Because all of Tampa Bay now has pages
- 5:36Speaker 1: fluttering through the entire region with all my personal information.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It goes through the whole thing of what I have
- 5:41Speaker 1: to do. You've got to notify all three of the
- 5:43Speaker 1: credit bureaus and freeze your credit. You've got to notify
- 5:47Speaker 1: the banks. You've got to file an identity fraud thing
- 5:49Speaker 1: with the FTC. And move to Bolivia is probably a
- 5:53Speaker 1: good idea. Well, no, but this story has a happy ending.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Are you ready for the happy ending before my apology?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Because this is hysterical. Joey Hudson is one of the
- 6:01Speaker 1: most important people in my life besides you. I've known
- 6:04Speaker 1: Joey for 30 plus years. My kids always say everybody
- 6:07Speaker 1: ought to have a Joey in their life. I called Joey,
- 6:10Speaker 1: my dear friend of many years, my business manager, the
- 6:14Speaker 1: executive director of my foundation, Gallagher's Heroes, the fallen officer fund.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm hysterical. I mean, I can barely talk to him.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm breathing into a brown paper sack. He said, Mike,
- 6:24Speaker 1: how many pages are missing? I said, three. I got
- 6:27Speaker 1: all of them back but three. He said, reprint the
- 6:30Speaker 1: document and find out what three documents are missing and
- 6:35Speaker 1: see if the information is on there. I did that. Mark,
- 6:39Speaker 1: the three pages that are missing didn't have one shred
- 6:43Speaker 1: of personal information on it. Praise God. Happy ending. I
- 6:47Speaker 1: had the biggest load lifted off my shoulders. All the
- 6:52Speaker 1: stupid calls to the TransUnion and Equifax. It wasn't even
- 6:56Speaker 1: necessary because I'm good. I'm fine.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Your vital pages are back in your hands and are
- 7:02Speaker 2: not out there on the streets of St.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Petersburg. I'm flying around Tampa Bay like a– oh, my gosh.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And I'm screaming. And what a dumb thing to do.
- 7:11Speaker 1: A half bottle of Diet Coke. Like that was going
- 7:14Speaker 1: to be my paperweight. All right.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Three or four days. But for that, three or four
- 7:18Speaker 2: days from now, there would be a call. Bill from Clearwater. Yeah, Mike,
- 7:22Speaker 2: I'm interested in your thoughts about the Iran war. But first,
- 7:25Speaker 2: let's talk about your net worth because I happen to
- 7:28Speaker 2: have some key data.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Oh, Raheesh from India would be taking out a loan
- 7:35Speaker 1: and he'd be buying a whole string of condominiums along
- 7:38Speaker 1: the Gold Coast. All right. So let me talk about
- 7:41Speaker 1: the apologies. I was very Pollyanna yesterday. I'm not going
- 7:46Speaker 1: to grovel, but I'm going to own this. I took
- 7:49Speaker 1: to the airwaves yesterday and I said to you, this
- 7:51Speaker 1: Beau French now infamous post where he posted a picture
- 7:55Speaker 1: of a bunch of Texas college kids, all looked like
- 7:59Speaker 1: a bunch of Indian kids. And you said, Mike, it
- 8:02Speaker 1: wasn't about race. It's about the mass migration into America,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and it's impacting our college campuses. It's impacting our cities.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And I was Mother Teresa yesterday. Wait a minute, Mark.
- 8:16Speaker 1: We should be all about legal immigration. And I was
- 8:19Speaker 1: listening to you carefully, and I mean this from the heart,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and I don't think it has anything to do with
- 8:23Speaker 1: the stupid heart blockage. I don't think I'm getting.
- 8:26Speaker 2: What's left of your heart is now speaking to you, man.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Let me talk about my brain here and my heart.
- 8:32Speaker 1: You're right. And all the pushback I got for saying that, well,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Beau French shouldn't have done what he did, blah, blah, blah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Let me tell you what this is about. It wasn't
- 8:41Speaker 1: about the University of Texas. It wasn't about the college kids.
- 8:45Speaker 1: It wasn't about the Indians in the burnt orange and
- 8:47Speaker 1: the cowboy hats. It's a snapshot of what's happening in
- 8:52Speaker 1: America right now. And people use that phrase, the great replacement.
- 8:57Speaker 1: the great replacement of cultural America. And it is true.
- 9:03Speaker 1: And you are right. And I was wrong yesterday. I
- 9:07Speaker 1: really was. And I'm only going to say that because
- 9:10Speaker 1: you convinced me. A lot of this audience convinced me.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And people were not– a couple people were jerks. Oh, Mike,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you're a rhino globalist. And I'm not. But you know what?
- 9:20Speaker 1: You persuaded me. I thought a lot about it. And
- 9:23Speaker 1: you are completely correct. I'm with you. It's probably time
- 9:27Speaker 1: to seriously consider a pause. on all immigration into these
- 9:33Speaker 1: United States. Nothing wrong with considering that. And there is
- 9:36Speaker 1: nothing wrong with pointing out that our cities are being
- 9:40Speaker 1: fundamentally changed by this mass migration. Our economy is being
- 9:44Speaker 1: impacted by mass migration. Our healthcare industry is being... All
- 9:49Speaker 1: of it is being... Our education system is being impacted
- 9:52Speaker 1: by it. And I'm just truly, humbly sorry that I
- 9:56Speaker 1: was being too Pollyannish yesterday.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I'm grateful for your clarity, Mark, and I'm grateful for
- 10:02Speaker 1: the clarity of this audience who helped get me back
- 10:04Speaker 1: on path. That's it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Well, we all just love you, and I rarely speak
- 10:09Speaker 2: for an audience monolithically, but special dispensation, my brother, we understand.
- 10:13Speaker 2: We don't ever– well, I'll just speak for myself. I
- 10:15Speaker 2: don't ever want to– squash or quell your heart and
- 10:21Speaker 2: your grace that you show to people and your wistful
- 10:23Speaker 2: thoughts about your grandparents and immigrating the right way. And
- 10:28Speaker 2: there's a paragraph you said, you said a number of times,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and it's true that we have been the party that
- 10:33Speaker 2: has been all about legal immigration. We lift up and
- 10:35Speaker 2: we hold up legal immigration. That's good. Illegal immigration, bad.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Legal immigration, good. But yes, it is possible to have
- 10:43Speaker 2: quite literally too much of a good thing. Legal immigrants
- 10:45Speaker 2: are great, but we only got so much room.
- 10:48Speaker 1: There's no room at the end. There's no room at
- 10:50Speaker 1: the end, Mark, and I hate to say it, but
- 10:51Speaker 1: you know something? You use a phrase that was in
- 10:56Speaker 1: my heart last night. Again, don't let your– what do
- 10:59Speaker 1: you say about your heart?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Don't let your heart eat your brain, that when certain
- 11:02Speaker 2: feelings you have begin to deleteriously affect your analytical skills.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Well, and my heart, it took a chunk out of
- 11:10Speaker 1: my brain, but thankfully I got it back. Well, I
- 11:12Speaker 1: got it back, and I'm back on track, and I
- 11:14Speaker 1: feel good about that. By the way, can we send
- 11:16Speaker 1: out prayers for God's healing and comfort to the families
- 11:20Speaker 1: of that horrific helicopter crash in Los Angeles last night?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yes, this was a news crew, Channel 4 in NBC.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Chopper 4. Chopper 4, they call it. Very famous. There's
- 11:30Speaker 2: a reporter and a pilot, and then it hit the
- 11:32Speaker 2: ground and then killed somebody on the ground. Three people
- 11:35Speaker 2: died in the wheelhouse.
- 11:36Speaker 1: No, killed them. Killed the pilot.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Right, killed them and one person on the ground.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And you know what's horrifying? Is that the video was
- 11:43Speaker 1: rolling and was live when the helicopter went down, and
- 11:46Speaker 1: you could hear the reporter say, can you pull up?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Can you pull up? And this thing goes down and crashes.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It makes me think of that morning crash years and
- 11:56Speaker 1: years ago. Have you ever seen the horrible video of
- 11:58Speaker 1: the traffic reporter in the helicopter that went down during
- 12:01Speaker 1: the Howard Stern show?
- 12:02Speaker 2: No.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Oh, Mark. They were doing a live report on the
- 12:08Speaker 1: Howard Stern show back when he was local. And I
- 12:10Speaker 1: think it was at WNBC. So once again, an NBC
- 12:13Speaker 1: helicopter last night in Los Angeles many decades ago in
- 12:17Speaker 1: New York City. And that thing went down into the
- 12:20Speaker 1: Hudson River. And the poor reporter, Mark, she was doing
- 12:24Speaker 1: the report on Howard's show live when this thing went down.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And she starts screaming, hit the water, hit the water.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And they were killed, too.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And it wasn't so very long ago that we had
- 12:35Speaker 2: one of the tourism helicopters. And this is something I
- 12:38Speaker 2: actually want to do. And you love the helicopters. Oh,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I do it all the time. To the Newark airport
- 12:42Speaker 2: in 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Blade. You can take a Blade helicopter from Midtown Manhattan
- 12:49Speaker 1: to JFK. The ride from Midtown to JFK is a nightmare.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Sometimes it's an hour and a half. It's awful. You
- 12:58Speaker 1: take that helicopter for about, by the way, I'm not
- 13:00Speaker 1: kidding you. It ain't that much more than that. uber
- 13:01Speaker 1: is it it's not much oh it's less than an
- 13:04Speaker 1: uber it's 120 bucks the uber is 160 or 180
- 13:06Speaker 1: except you're doing.
- 13:08Speaker 2: The bulletproof black suv.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I do the escort i have the i have the
- 13:13Speaker 1: motorcycle escort 2016 camry that i take i have a
- 13:18Speaker 1: motorcade i have the entire thing but but it's like
- 13:20Speaker 1: 100 bucks And you're out there in nine minutes. But
- 13:23Speaker 1: I kept thinking, now, my kids were saying, Dad, you
- 13:26Speaker 1: sure you want to get on those helicopters?
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yes, of course.
- 13:29Speaker 1: The trouble with a helicopter is there's no glide.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I mean, a plane, you got maybe a little bit
- 13:34Speaker 1: of a chance.
- 13:34Speaker 2: There's no Sully Sullenberger is going to see my helicopter
- 13:37Speaker 2: dropping like a rock.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Gosh, so sorry to hear about that.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
