- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the porch.
- 0:30So if you can hear off in the background, you may hear the
- 0:33chickens very far away because the house is pretty far from the
- 0:36chicken coop. However, can hear all the other
- 0:39sounds can hear the birds can hear the frogs going off, You
- 0:44can hear bugs going off. You can hear all kinds of things
- 0:48right now and this is a happy place for me.
- 0:52This is a place where I love to come out here in the morning
- 0:56before it's even time to go out to the chicken coop because it's
- 0:59still too dark. You can hear the Roosters going
- 1:02off in the distance, but it's still a little too dark that
- 1:05they're not ready to open the doors yet.
- 1:07And I'm on the porch and I'll come out here for, you know,
- 1:12even 5 minutes, 10 minutes, typically around 10 to 15
- 1:16minutes. I'm out here and I just sit here
- 1:19and one of the things that I love to do when I'm out here is
- 1:23do the work for the morning. That gets me centered because
- 1:26when you hear how? Peaceful this place is.
- 1:30You just take a different energy into.
- 1:32Your day. And we have.
- 1:34Worked very very hard to. Cultivate more and more.
- 1:39Life here, if you will. Bringing things back, putting
- 1:43things together, whether it's the fish in the pond.
- 1:46Or I. Mean we just found out we have
- 1:49an amphuma in the pond, which I didn't.
- 1:52Even know. What it was, but it's an aquatic
- 1:53salamander and I'm like beyond thrilled that we found it so
- 1:59cool but we've got so much I mean like the hummingbirds I.
- 2:03Think so far this year? I've already seen that we have
- 2:06about 7 to 10 different hummingbirds.
- 2:09Here. And I can tell because I've got
- 2:12one that will. Guard the.
- 2:13Bird feeders for him. I've got 3 bird feeders, but
- 2:16apparently this little 1 needs all three of them, so we see
- 2:20them. With their dive bombing, but.
- 2:22But that's not the point of this.
- 2:23The point is this. Early morning.
- 2:25And they're already buzzing around and it's.
- 2:27Barely Twilight. Like it's just two.
- 2:29It's just a little bit right now.
- 2:31And. That's the point of this, is
- 2:33that starting the day? Off in this area to me is a.
- 2:38Spiritual experience. It it.
- 2:41Makes me feel like I'm going into my day in a.
- 2:45Different headspace a different. Feeling.
- 2:48If I miss out on it, I feel it. It's not just that I recognize
- 2:53that, I feel it in my bones. It feels differently.
- 2:56The whole day feels like I I wasn't.
- 2:59Set so. Coming out here with a hot
- 3:03drink, whatever that might be it, it's something that makes me
- 3:09happy and it's something that centers.
- 3:12It brings out the happiness. Can't really make me happy.
- 3:15I choose to be happy, but it brings out the happiness and it
- 3:19amplifies it. And for me, watching that sun
- 3:24just start to come up a little tiny bit, feeling the air,
- 3:27hearing the sounds, it's a sensory experience.
- 3:31And that's the point of this is finding a way to put sensory
- 3:35experiences into your day now. And there's a sometimes, not
- 3:41often, but sometimes if I've got a lot of time in the morning, I
- 3:44will come out here and I will bring my coloring book.
- 3:47And yes, I have those adult coloring books and I like to
- 3:50color them. I like the ocean pictures and
- 3:52the flower pictures, but I have this nice set of pencils and
- 3:55I'll bring my drink out. We sit down.
- 3:58Lucy's always with me and we sit down.
- 4:00Lucy's the dog and one of the dogs.
- 4:02And I. I'll just sit down and I'll just
- 4:05start coloring. And now I'm in an immersion
- 4:08experience, like I'm already immersed into the nature part of
- 4:11it and paying attention. But when I get out here and I do
- 4:14that. It takes it to a different
- 4:16level. So the point of the story is.
- 4:20That we have. Opportunities around us all the
- 4:23time. Like as I'm sitting here talking
- 4:24to you Cardinals, I can see them flying up to the bird feeder.
- 4:28I've got Bluebirds coming down. They're waiting for me to bring
- 4:32out freeze dried mealworms for them.
- 4:35But it takes me out of all the chaos that I might have already
- 4:40been dealing with, thinking about what my day is going to
- 4:42be, how am I going to show up? And it allows me to have that
- 4:46peace, just that little centered piece that makes you feel so
- 4:50good beforehand, before everything else takes place.
- 4:54So I'm going to encourage you to figure out what is that sensory
- 4:59experience that centers you, that brings you back to help you
- 5:04find that place every morning before you do something, before
- 5:08you take off, whatever you're doing, find that place because I
- 5:12will tell you it makes a massive difference.
- 5:14And if it can engage all of your senses like that, you see, you
- 5:18hear, you feel, you've got touch, all of that, it brings
- 5:22you into a different space. So.
- 5:25Give it a. Try.
- 5:26All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 5:28see you tomorrow. Bye.
