- 1:39Speaker 2: you go to the promotions page, you'll see your chance
- 1:42Speaker 2: to enter several things right now that are very cool, cash,
- 1:47Speaker 2: some other nice elements that are there. Your chance to
- 1:50Speaker 2: win a seventy five inch flat screen TV. Yeah, we're
- 1:55Speaker 2: giving one of those away. That's pretty cool. We got
- 1:58Speaker 2: some breaking news for you today, lots of different things
- 2:01Speaker 2: in which the burners seem to be burning extra hot,
- 2:06Speaker 2: and sentcom just moments ago claiming that Iran has committed
- 2:13Speaker 2: a serious cease fire violation over something that happened late yesterday,
- 2:20Speaker 2: which we're just finding out the details of now, But
- 2:23Speaker 2: around ten seventeen pm Eastern, there was an Iranian ballistic
- 2:30Speaker 2: missile that was launched against Kuwait late on Wednesday night
- 2:37Speaker 2: after the US shot down Iranian drones over the Strait
- 2:41Speaker 2: of hor moves. So let's just set the stage here,
- 2:44Speaker 2: so they're getting closer to language that both sides apparently
- 2:48Speaker 2: agreed to. But then you had the mysterious invisible Ayatola
- 2:54Speaker 2: released the statement on what was it tumbler yesterday or
- 2:57Speaker 2: telegram or something very very vague social media platform. But
- 3:03Speaker 2: he supposedly, not the advisors, not the other people. Supposedly
- 3:07Speaker 2: the IATOLA released it saying that they're not gonna they're
- 3:11Speaker 2: not going to move an inch, et cetera. So the
- 3:15Speaker 2: President has this cabinet meeting yesterday and makes it pretty
- 3:19Speaker 2: clear that we're not changing policy, that they're going to
- 3:21Speaker 2: get rid of all twenty tons of enriched uranium in
- 3:27Speaker 2: their possession or else, and sec of War reasserted that
- 3:33Speaker 2: in the cabinet meeting, et cetera. So last night, evidently
- 3:38Speaker 2: they decide just for the fun of it, that they're
- 3:41Speaker 2: going to send attack drones across the Straight of Hord
- 3:44Speaker 2: Moves towards American vessels. And we shot down all of
- 3:48Speaker 2: them in that attack. But at ten seventeen, Iran launched
- 3:55Speaker 2: a ballistic missile toward Kuwait that was also successfully intercepted.
- 4:01Speaker 2: These missiles evidently are not super good at what they do,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but they intercepted it. The egregious ceasefire violation by the
- 4:12Speaker 2: Iranian regime occurred hours after Ranian forces had launched five
- 4:15Speaker 2: one way attack drones that posed a clear threat in
- 4:18Speaker 2: the Straight of wor Moves. All drones were successfully intercepted
- 4:22Speaker 2: by US forces, which also prevented a sixth drone launch
- 4:26Speaker 2: from an Agrainian ground control site. Sentcom wrote in the statement,
- 4:31Speaker 2: a US Central Command and regional partners remained vigilant measured
- 4:36Speaker 2: as we continue to defend our forces and interest from
- 4:39Speaker 2: unjustified Iranian aggression. So the statement added, So they didn't
- 4:45Speaker 2: like the fact that the President was announcing that we're
- 4:48Speaker 2: getting closer and closer to actual agreement on deal. And
- 4:51Speaker 2: I have to think that internally, this is how this
- 4:54Speaker 2: is going down a little bit. Internally, You've got some
- 4:57Speaker 2: people that are doing negotiation, maybe not having really close
- 5:01Speaker 2: communication with the Iatola, and maybe there's not a need to.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Maybe the people that are having the negotiation know that
- 5:08Speaker 2: ultimately the Iatola is not in charge. Maybe he can
- 5:11Speaker 2: put whatever he wants to on telegram and it doesn't
- 5:14Speaker 2: matter because he's not really going to be able to
- 5:17Speaker 2: This would be the typical Iyatola means, by the way,
- 5:21Speaker 2: they've always been bark much worse than their bite. And
- 5:25Speaker 2: when they were going to, you know, threaten the demolition
- 5:28Speaker 2: of Israel and the bringing down of America and all
- 5:31Speaker 2: the rest, they weren't able to do that. When they
- 5:33Speaker 2: said that if we put a blockade in place, they
- 5:35Speaker 2: would you know, destroy our navy. Well, too late, we
- 5:38Speaker 2: already destroyed theirs. The Iatola and his chums seem to
- 5:44Speaker 2: be filled with grandiose and high ideals about what they
- 5:48Speaker 2: think they can accomplish, and I have yet to really
- 5:51Speaker 2: see any of it come to fruition. So here's my
- 5:54Speaker 2: own hunch, here's my own kind of thoughts about what
- 5:57Speaker 2: I think is happening. I think you've got a group
- 6:00Speaker 2: of of a cadre of you know, former IRGC, maybe
- 6:07Speaker 2: former Iranian government, maybe competent private sector people that have
- 6:11Speaker 2: all kind of figured out that they're going to do
- 6:14Speaker 2: the negotiation and run the place. They can't really do
- 6:18Speaker 2: anything about whether or not the Iyatola responds, so they
- 6:21Speaker 2: let him do it, and it may send mixed messages. Now,
- 6:26Speaker 2: having said that, you had IRGC forces yesterday come out
- 6:31Speaker 2: in grand fashion and claim, you know, we're never going
- 6:34Speaker 2: to give up the the uranium, the enriched uranium. You
- 6:39Speaker 2: have people, you know, saying that in the press today
- 6:42Speaker 2: that are all associated with the Itola and the IRGC.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Maybe they're speaking on behalf of the negotiating party. I'm
- 6:49Speaker 2: not sure. But that's that's some of the challenges that
- 6:52Speaker 2: we're up against there is making sure that that communication
- 6:55Speaker 2: is going whoever's firing off these weapons. Though that's a
- 6:59Speaker 2: really stupid move because that's just going to give that's
- 7:05Speaker 2: just going to give Trump even more reason to come
- 7:08Speaker 2: in and take out some of the targets that he
- 7:10Speaker 2: has not yet taken out. Bridges, the ability for certain roadways,
- 7:17Speaker 2: and certain energy plants to be taken out. We already
- 7:20Speaker 2: know that some of the energy plants aren't really being
- 7:22Speaker 2: used to help the Iranian people. And I just saw
- 7:25Speaker 2: statistics on how the blockade is impacting the life in Iran.
- 7:30Speaker 2: You have thirty three percent now in poverty. You've got
- 7:33Speaker 2: a ten percent plus unemployment rate. You've got people going
- 7:37Speaker 2: without power and without all kinds of things to do.
- 7:40Speaker 2: That underbelly of discontent, which they already blame on the
- 7:45Speaker 2: eye tolls to begin with. That's only going to increase
- 7:49Speaker 2: over time. And so what is really necessary is is
- 7:51Speaker 2: for the administration not to blink. You cannot blink in
- 7:55Speaker 2: this circumstance. And if they are continuing to fire missiles
- 8:00Speaker 2: at their neighbors, all that does is help ingratiate them.
- 8:05Speaker 2: To the side of the US. All that does is
- 8:08Speaker 2: help ingratiate them as a united front against Iran as
- 8:13Speaker 2: a whole, and so kind of a dumb move, but
- 8:17Speaker 2: that's what they're doing and that's where things are at.
- 8:20Speaker 2: So that's the very very latest in terms of what's
- 8:22Speaker 2: going on in Iran. We've got a big show for
- 8:25Speaker 2: you coming up at the beginning of the next hour,
- 8:29Speaker 2: a major announcement just crossing the wires about what we
- 8:34Speaker 2: are trying to do to stop fraud against the American taxpayer,
- 8:38Speaker 2: what the White House is trying to do, what the
- 8:40Speaker 2: Vice President's office is trying to do, and they may
- 8:43Speaker 2: have just hooked the biggest kahuna of all big kahunahs,
- 8:47Speaker 2: because when you get the type of cooperation that they
- 8:51Speaker 2: are now getting across all of the investigatory boards in
- 8:55Speaker 2: the executive branch, now you're really going to be able
- 8:58Speaker 2: to uncover some of the worst stuff that's going on.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna explain all that to you and break it
- 9:03Speaker 2: down for you in the next hour at the top
- 9:05Speaker 2: of the hour. I hope we'll be here with me
- 9:07Speaker 2: for that. But we've got the big question, how do
- 9:09Speaker 2: we live Doctor Keith Crosby is back with me. A
- 9:12Speaker 2: little bit later on, we're going to chat with patrese
- 9:17Speaker 2: on Wuka from the Independent Women's Forum because there's a
- 9:21Speaker 2: secret sauce to the election that I think you need
- 9:23Speaker 2: to know about coming up. Scott Phelps is going to
- 9:26Speaker 2: join us in hour one. There's a huge education summit
- 9:30Speaker 2: taking place in Chicago in a few weeks. I want
- 9:32Speaker 2: you to know about it. I want you to be
- 9:33Speaker 2: part of it. If you care about the education of
- 9:36Speaker 2: American children, you need to be there. You need to
- 9:38Speaker 2: be part of this. And he will visit with us
- 9:40Speaker 2: in our number one today and then in our number
- 9:44Speaker 2: two we're also going to speak with Shelley Goldberg and
- 9:45Speaker 2: try to help you in one area of your parenting
- 9:48Speaker 2: do it a little bit better than you had done
- 9:50Speaker 2: it before. That's all straight ahead. Kevin McCullough, super glad
- 9:54Speaker 2: you're with us.
- 9:54Speaker 9: Please don't change the channel, stay right in.
- 10:11Speaker 10: Here.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He is from New York. From that Kevin Kevin mccolor.
- 10:17Speaker 2: All right, welcome. It's Thursday, which means we are, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: just one additional day away from the weekend, which I'm
- 10:25Speaker 2: kind of I always get to this part of the
- 10:27Speaker 2: week and I'm a little bit sad because we feels
- 10:29Speaker 2: like we just get going on a good study and
- 10:32Speaker 2: then we're already wrapping it up. But doctor Keith Crosby's
- 10:35Speaker 2: back with us. As we asked the big question, how
- 10:37Speaker 2: do we live? How do we live in a culture
- 10:39Speaker 2: that disrespects God, disapproves of his word? Looks at us
- 10:44Speaker 2: with a certain disbelief that anybody could even hold to
- 10:47Speaker 2: those two things. And this week we are looking at
- 10:50Speaker 2: some spiritual lies that sometimes get very if we if
- 10:55Speaker 2: we hold these and we practice them, I actually believe
- 10:59Speaker 2: that we end up hurting our witness among those people
- 11:02Speaker 2: that we're trying to read. So it's it's one of
- 11:03Speaker 2: those things where it's really important that we take a
- 11:06Speaker 2: look at him, and doctor Keith Crosby's back with us.
- 11:07Speaker 2: He's the lead pastor at Hillside Church in San Jose, California.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And Keith, before we get into today's discussion, if people
- 11:16Speaker 2: would like to join you guys at Hillside this weekend,
- 11:19Speaker 2: how do they find you? What time are the services
- 11:22Speaker 2: and where you locate it at?
- 11:24Speaker 11: Sure, we're in South San Jose at five forty five
- 11:27Speaker 11: Hillsdale Avenue. You can get directions online at Hillside dot
- 11:31Speaker 11: org www.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Hillside dot org. And our services are at nine and eleven.
- 11:36Speaker 11: So and we and you if you have a family
- 11:39Speaker 11: that doesn't speak English, where our Spanish services are the
- 11:42Speaker 11: same time in a different part of the church.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Nine eleven.
- 11:46Speaker 11: Yeah, And I'm preaching on the purpose behind pain James
- 11:50Speaker 11: one two through twelve.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Oh wow, that would be a good corollary to what
- 11:54Speaker 2: we're talking about here, because I think that these big
- 11:57Speaker 2: four spiritual lives are all about avoiding pain at all costs.
- 12:02Speaker 2: And I don't think that Jesus ever said that that
- 12:04Speaker 2: was going to be. In fact, I pretty much remember
- 12:07Speaker 2: him saying if they persecuted him, they're going to persecute us.
- 12:11Speaker 2: So it's pain free is not the promise of Christianity.
- 12:15Speaker 2: But ultimate healing is the ultimate promise of Christianity, and
- 12:21Speaker 2: that is something that we will enjoy for eternity. But
- 12:24Speaker 2: we are stuck in this pattern with one kind of
- 12:27Speaker 2: subset of theological thinking that says we can somehow avoid
- 12:31Speaker 2: it here and today. So the two lives we've looked
- 12:33Speaker 2: at so far is if you just had enough faith
- 12:37Speaker 2: dot dot dot. The second one was opposition hinders miracles.
- 12:42Speaker 2: That is so not true. God is not You cannot
- 12:47Speaker 2: you cannot hinder God. He would cease to be God
- 12:51Speaker 2: if we could do something that that checkmated him. So
- 12:55Speaker 2: it's just it's an aberrant thought for all things related
- 12:59Speaker 2: to who God is. What we looked at yesterday, but
- 13:02Speaker 2: today's you've titled if you just prayed the right way,
- 13:05Speaker 2: what are we talking about?
- 13:07Speaker 11: Well, there's this mindset that says, if you pray with expectancy,
- 13:12Speaker 11: you know, if you pray these powerful expectant prayers, then
- 13:15Speaker 11: God's going to perform a miracle that miracles right at
- 13:18Speaker 11: your fingertips. And again, this is a whole distorted view
- 13:21Speaker 11: of God. And when the expectant prayer that you have
- 13:26Speaker 11: doesn't become fulfilled, then your defeated, your Christianity looks like nothing.
- 13:32Speaker 11: And they sit largely on James five. The effect and
- 13:36Speaker 11: per of a prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much,
- 13:40Speaker 11: but they take it out of context and prayer doesn't
- 13:45Speaker 11: prayer aligns us with God. Well, we seek his will
- 13:48Speaker 11: of prayer and me, and they just they just turned
- 13:52Speaker 11: this thing on its end.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I do think there is a role for us to
- 13:56Speaker 2: when we pray, to anxiously await God's answer, even if
- 14:02Speaker 2: it may not end up being the one we want.
- 14:04Speaker 12: It.
- 14:05Speaker 11: Well, that's the beauty of prayer. Prayer is talking to
- 14:08Speaker 11: God and we always get an answer. We just like
- 14:11Speaker 11: you said, we just don't get the answer we always want.
- 14:13Speaker 11: There are three answers to prayer that you can bank on.
- 14:17Speaker 11: One is a yes, you get an immediate yes. Two
- 14:20Speaker 11: is you get an immediate no. Or three which.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Sometimes looks like a no. Is you get a weight answer.
- 14:29Speaker 11: And yes what you see a lot in David's life
- 14:31Speaker 11: and even in life the apostle Paul. So it's yes, no,
- 14:33Speaker 11: and wait, and it may feel like God said no,
- 14:36Speaker 11: And then a year later, you know he tells us.
- 14:39Speaker 11: You know he taught and the parable of the widow
- 14:41Speaker 11: and the unrighteous judge to continue to petition God. Well,
- 14:46Speaker 11: what I think we learned from that is as we
- 14:48Speaker 11: pray to God, as we seek his face on a
- 14:50Speaker 11: particular issue, we come to the point where we say
- 14:54Speaker 11: not what I will, but what you will, or you
- 14:57Speaker 11: begin to see a larger perspective.
- 14:59Speaker 5: That's where prayer is like trials. A trial doesn't tell
- 15:03Speaker 5: God anything about us.
- 15:04Speaker 11: He already knows how we're going to behave in the
- 15:07Speaker 11: trial because he knows everything past, present, future.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Trials tell us about us what.
- 15:12Speaker 11: Needs to change, what our weaknesses are, what our strengths are,
- 15:16Speaker 11: and how God is using us.
- 15:17Speaker 5: And prayer is kind of the same thing.
- 15:19Speaker 11: Trials in prayer are always inexecorabally linked in the Word
- 15:23Speaker 11: of God, and David is an example of that.
- 15:24Speaker 5: In the Psalms, you're a one percent spot.
- 15:27Speaker 2: On if what we're told is that we're praying the
- 15:30Speaker 2: wrong way, what's the right way.
- 15:33Speaker 11: Well, the right way is to pray with humility. You
- 15:36Speaker 11: look at it in the so called Lord's Prayer, a
- 15:38Speaker 11: model prayer in Matthew six. And you know our father,
- 15:42Speaker 11: who is in heaven. You're addressing a king and your father,
- 15:46Speaker 11: how it.
- 15:46Speaker 5: Would be your name? Holy is your name? And as
- 15:49Speaker 5: you see as you go through, these are expressions of dependency.
- 15:53Speaker 5: You're going before your father and heaven, the king of
- 15:55Speaker 5: the universe. You're going as his subject and his son
- 15:59Speaker 5: or daughter, and you're seeking his face.
- 16:03Speaker 11: You're not saying I want a Cadillac or you know,
- 16:06Speaker 11: I want I want you know, I want a million dollars,
- 16:09Speaker 11: or you better, you better heal so and so today
- 16:12Speaker 11: or else it's just not that way. And uh. And
- 16:15Speaker 11: even if we pray a miss you know, in Roman's
- 16:18Speaker 11: eight twenty six and eight twenty seven, it says, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 11: our spirit, you know, prays with his spirit and groaning's
- 16:23Speaker 11: too difficult to understand. And the Holy Spirit takes our
- 16:27Speaker 11: sinful prayer or our misguided prayer or our childlike prayer
- 16:31Speaker 11: and he he he amends it, you know, and makes
- 16:37Speaker 11: it excitable to God with groanings too deep for words,
- 16:40Speaker 11: and that really obliterates the Uh. If you just prayed
- 16:43Speaker 11: the right prayer technique, you can't fail because God won't
- 16:47Speaker 11: let you.
- 16:48Speaker 5: The spirit will take over and you know he will.
- 16:51Speaker 5: He will give the answer that he determined. And the
- 16:53Speaker 5: attorney passed.
- 16:55Speaker 11: And it's like Paul, he sought God three times to
- 16:58Speaker 11: remove the throw in the flesh and he said, no,
- 17:00Speaker 11: you know, it's you can't go wrong. You just want
- 17:04Speaker 11: to pray with humility, with dependency, in accordance with the
- 17:08Speaker 11: word of God. And we have many good models of
- 17:10Speaker 11: prayer in the Psalms and the Sermon on the Mountain
- 17:14Speaker 11: places like that.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I also think doctor Crosby that with these specific
- 17:21Speaker 2: four lives that we're looking at this week that there's
- 17:25Speaker 2: also an unwillingness to learn some of the incredible, deep
- 17:32Speaker 2: and profound things about God's comfort, about God's presence, about
- 17:39Speaker 2: his ability to nurture and care for his children, that
- 17:45Speaker 2: if we are so busy trying to avoid all that
- 17:50Speaker 2: is painful or in error, or or what seems wrong
- 17:54Speaker 2: with our world or unjust, we miss out on the
- 18:00Speaker 2: the aspects of God that are all encompassing for people
- 18:04Speaker 2: that are in those moments. And I think of, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 2: you think of like the writings of C. S. Lewis,
- 18:09Speaker 2: and so much of what he wrote about what he
- 18:12Speaker 2: experienced was how God spoke to him in painful times
- 18:17Speaker 2: and the insights that came to him in who God
- 18:20Speaker 2: was in the moments where they were, where it was
- 18:23Speaker 2: where it was most you know, haunting or searching or
- 18:27Speaker 2: hurting in his soul. And for me personally, the reason
- 18:31Speaker 2: Psalm one fifteen three, the verse that we've kind of
- 18:34Speaker 2: based this week on became my life first, was because
- 18:37Speaker 2: in the middle of the night, when everything was falling
- 18:39Speaker 2: apart in my life and I was really beyond any
- 18:43Speaker 2: consolation on kind of a human level, I knock on
- 18:46Speaker 2: my pastor's door at two thirty in the morning on
- 18:49Speaker 2: a Sunday morning. Only only pastors can understand just what
- 18:53Speaker 2: an offensive action that is. And he takes me down
- 18:59Speaker 2: to his basement we look at Psalm one fifteen three,
- 19:01Speaker 2: and he just he weeps with me, and he says, Kevin,
- 19:04Speaker 2: I don't know why God has you walking through this,
- 19:07Speaker 2: but I know God is good. And because He is good,
- 19:11Speaker 2: then his truthfulness and his truth is dependable. If he
- 19:16Speaker 2: was only truthful but not good, he could be very,
- 19:19Speaker 2: very harsh. But because there is goodness attached as part
- 19:22Speaker 2: of his character, then we can trust that that truth.
- 19:24Speaker 2: And so if he is in heaven, if he is
- 19:26Speaker 2: doing only what pleases him, then we take that as
- 19:30Speaker 2: his creations, as what is good for us long term.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Well, that's it.
- 19:34Speaker 11: And this is where you know, even my father who
- 19:38Speaker 11: is in heaven, he loves us, he's good, he never
- 19:42Speaker 11: makes mistakes. This is the only individual in the whole
- 19:45Speaker 11: universe whose counsel you can trust. And this is where
- 19:49Speaker 11: the problem comes in a lot of these churches that
- 19:53Speaker 11: propel these laws, and particularly in the Prosperity Arena, they
- 19:58Speaker 11: don't teach the whole counsel of God's work. And if
- 20:02Speaker 11: life is a bomb that you need to diffuse in
- 20:05Speaker 11: a sinful, fallen world, and somebody gives you only parts
- 20:10Speaker 11: of the instruction how to defuse it, how to make
- 20:13Speaker 11: sense of it?
- 20:14Speaker 1: You're handicapped.
- 20:16Speaker 5: The Bible has something to.
- 20:17Speaker 11: Say about every inch of thread that makes up the
- 20:18Speaker 11: fabric of our existence.
- 20:20Speaker 5: It tells us about God and his relationship to us.
- 20:23Speaker 11: And if you just pick a piece here and pick
- 20:25Speaker 11: a piece there, it's like listening to a conversation where
- 20:29Speaker 11: on your cell phone, where you keep losing people and
- 20:32Speaker 11: then you don't understand what they said and you can't
- 20:35Speaker 11: make sense.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Well, another another fantastic conversation, Doctor Crosby. I'm looking forward
- 20:39Speaker 2: to wrapping up the week tomorrow. Thank you for everything. Friends,
- 20:43Speaker 2: join us each weekday as we try to answer that
- 20:45Speaker 2: big question, how do we live? Kevin McCullough coming right
- 20:49Speaker 2: back from New York unto what Stick.
- 20:51Speaker 6: Around for more of that Kevin next time here he
- 21:11Speaker 6: is from New York.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Exact Kevin McCullough, Welcome back.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Is that Kevin show that kevinshow dot Com grateful to
- 21:21Speaker 2: have you with us. We never put anything behind the
- 21:22Speaker 2: paywall because we want you to have access to all
- 21:24Speaker 2: of it, because we want to impact how you think
- 21:28Speaker 2: and help you think more clearly, and help you have
- 21:31Speaker 2: resources to help others think more clearly, because I feel
- 21:35Speaker 2: like clarity is one of those virtues that kind of
- 21:37Speaker 2: surpasses everything else. If you can be clear about truth
- 21:41Speaker 2: in your own life for yourself, there's a lot that
- 21:44Speaker 2: you can do to impact the world around you. And
- 21:47Speaker 2: that's probably one of the messages that's going to be
- 21:51Speaker 2: reiterated many, many times at the upcoming educator summit for
- 21:56Speaker 2: the Turning Point Education Division. They we spoke with Hutts
- 22:01Speaker 2: Hertzburg last week, and Scott Phelps joins us this week.
- 22:05Speaker 2: He is part of the Success Sequence program teaching abstinence
- 22:09Speaker 2: until marriage and Scott is a longtime friend. In fact,
- 22:12Speaker 2: when I was just a local host in Chicago a
- 22:14Speaker 2: long time ago, Scott, I think you were. I think
- 22:16Speaker 2: I was producing for Sandy Rios.
- 22:18Speaker 4: You were, you're producing for Sandy Rios, And then you
- 22:20Speaker 4: had your own show, and I was on Sandy Show
- 22:22Speaker 4: and your show.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And then I moved to New York and your
- 22:25Speaker 2: daughter worked for our radio station, and you've just known
- 22:27Speaker 2: each other forever. So thank you for all that you've done,
- 22:30Speaker 2: and I think the importance of this summit, and if
- 22:34Speaker 2: you want to know more about it, it's turning pointed
- 22:37Speaker 2: dot com, turning point D. You could think about it
- 22:40Speaker 2: like that way, turning pointed dot com. I think that
- 22:44Speaker 2: when you're talking about education reform, and I've been approached
- 22:48Speaker 2: in recent weeks by you know, homeschool groups and charter
- 22:52Speaker 2: school groups and people that are working hard to reform
- 22:55Speaker 2: classrooms and teachers' unions and all kinds of things, I'm
- 23:00Speaker 2: not a this is how it should be done to
- 23:03Speaker 2: the exclusion of everything else, and one size fits all
- 23:05Speaker 2: for everybody. I've never thought that, partly because my own
- 23:09Speaker 2: educational path went through public school with the Christian school
- 23:14Speaker 2: experience that wasn't that good homeschool experience for a couple
- 23:17Speaker 2: of years, and then eventually back into the Christian school
- 23:21Speaker 2: system when my mom was contracting cancer and she actually
- 23:25Speaker 2: ended up dying my junior year of high school. But
- 23:27Speaker 2: this is what I say on the show all the time.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It is not the teacher's responsibility, It is not the
- 23:31Speaker 2: school distruct responsibility. It is not anybody else's responsibility to
- 23:35Speaker 2: see to it that your children are properly educated. It
- 23:38Speaker 2: is your responsibility. And if they're in the public school classroom,
- 23:42Speaker 2: then you know what they're being taught and you were
- 23:44Speaker 2: engaging that and you're talking about it and you're flushing
- 23:48Speaker 2: it out with them. But if they're in your home
- 23:50Speaker 2: and you do it in your home, you gotta do
- 23:51Speaker 2: the same thing. So having said that, what I like
- 23:55Speaker 2: about Turning Points program is that it looks like what
- 23:57Speaker 2: you guys are going to do here in a couple
- 23:58Speaker 2: of weeks is have resources available for people that span
- 24:02Speaker 2: the gamut, so educators, parents, pastors, Christian educators, public school educators,
- 24:08Speaker 2: wherever you are on the spectrum, there's going to be encouragement, instruction, motivation,
- 24:14Speaker 2: challenge that's going to help you in the process. Is
- 24:16Speaker 2: that am I misreading that?
- 24:18Speaker 4: No, it's absolutely that's absolutely right. And you've probably seen
- 24:21Speaker 4: the list of speakers, Kevin, twenty eight speakers.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I mean it's amazing.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Wait, blowhearts like Al Mohler.
- 24:27Speaker 4: You know they've got Al Moller and John stone Street
- 24:31Speaker 4: and Megan Basham, Riley Gaines, Erica Kirk, Congressman Mary Miller,
- 24:37Speaker 4: She's fantastic. H Hertzberg will be one of the speakers.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Irwin Lutser, John Amnachu, Fellows Scott, it's going to be Seriously,
- 24:46Speaker 4: it is really going to be great. And they said,
- 24:48Speaker 4: the thing I want to point out about I love
- 24:50Speaker 4: Turning Point Education. I have told Hatts, who's a good friend.
- 24:53Speaker 4: You know, if I wasn't doing what I was doing now,
- 24:55Speaker 4: I would want to be doing what he is doing.
- 24:57Speaker 4: I think it's absolutely fundamentals the the educational system in
- 25:01Speaker 4: America absolutely needs to be overhauled. And Turning Point Education
- 25:06Speaker 4: is on mission, right, that is their primary mission is
- 25:10Speaker 4: to revive the American educational system and bring it back
- 25:16Speaker 4: to its roots and God honoring and putting God at
- 25:19Speaker 4: the center of everything that we're doing with our kids.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Because you think about what the kids are suffering through
- 25:26Speaker 4: you hear all this stuff about mental illness, right, and
- 25:28Speaker 4: depression and suicide and all of that, And well, of
- 25:31Speaker 4: course we shouldn't be surprised at that, right, we've removed
- 25:35Speaker 4: God from the center of culture, from the center of education,
- 25:39Speaker 4: and our kids are lost. And so I love the
- 25:42Speaker 4: theme of this conference. It's called Courage and our Convictions
- 25:46Speaker 4: Cultivating clarity in.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Chaos, Kevin. That's what they need.
- 25:50Speaker 4: They need clarity in the chaos, right, And That's what
- 25:54Speaker 4: Turning Point Education is all about. That's what our ministry
- 25:57Speaker 4: is all about. That's why we partner with Turning Point.
- 25:59Speaker 4: We're pre lig and thrilled the partnering with Turning Point
- 26:02Speaker 4: we have.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Since they began.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Uh.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And you know, Charlie was so good.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I think one of the reasons, Kevin, why Charlie impacted
- 26:10Speaker 4: so many people is just what you were saying just
- 26:13Speaker 4: a moment ago, the clarity of truth. He was so
- 26:16Speaker 4: good at cutting through the noise and lifting up the
- 26:19Speaker 4: truth with clarity. And so that's what this conference is all.
- 26:23Speaker 2: About, doing it in a winsome way.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Now, Scott, there's some people in our listening audience and
- 26:30Speaker 2: viewership that would say, I don't understand what what do
- 26:32Speaker 2: you mean in classical education? How would you how would
- 26:35Speaker 2: how would you term that for someone that's listening today
- 26:38Speaker 2: for the first time.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's going back to our roots.
- 26:40Speaker 4: I think it is teaching, you know, classical classical education
- 26:46Speaker 4: is going to focus on the great literature, the great
- 26:48Speaker 4: you know, Western culture and Western civilization and the roots
- 26:52Speaker 4: of our of our founding.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Really and and I love the programs that they have.
- 26:56Speaker 4: We've got great curriculum that they recommend and provide for rules.
- 27:01Speaker 1: That is going to go over the you know.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Basic civics and education and the founding of our country
- 27:07Speaker 4: and how it all began.
- 27:09Speaker 1: And I think that's it's really critical.
- 27:12Speaker 4: You know, kids don't know history anymore, no, and when
- 27:15Speaker 4: you don't know history, that's where you get lost in
- 27:18Speaker 4: the weeds. I think so much of the drift of
- 27:20Speaker 4: our young generation is because they haven't been properly rooted
- 27:23Speaker 4: in a classical education with a historical perspective, with the
- 27:28Speaker 4: great literature.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And so that's what we've got to get back with that.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I thought we're going to take a quick break and
- 27:33Speaker 2: when we come back, I want to talk a little
- 27:34Speaker 2: bit about how the abstinence discussion plays in all of this.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Good because certainly sex education is something that has been
- 27:43Speaker 2: never lessened in public mind than it is today, and
- 27:47Speaker 2: we're gonna we're gonna talk about that when we continue.
- 27:49Speaker 2: He Scott Phelps. I'm Kevin McCullough. If you want more information,
- 27:51Speaker 2: it's Turning point ed dot com. Turning pointeed dot.
- 27:55Speaker 8: Com here he is from New York.
- 28:13Speaker 1: That Kevin, Kevin McCullough, welcome back to that.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Kevin Show, Kevin McCullough, glad to have you with us
- 28:22Speaker 2: coming up June sixteenth through the nineteenth in the Chicago
- 28:28Speaker 2: suburb of Lincolnshire, which is just outside of O'Hare Airport.
- 28:32Speaker 2: The Marriott Lincolnshire Resort is there. That's where this fifth
- 28:36Speaker 2: annual Turning Point Education Summit is going to take place.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And again, if you are anywhere on the educational spectrum
- 28:43Speaker 2: in terms of a teacher, an administrator, a pastor, a parent,
- 28:47Speaker 2: someone who's concerned about or just investigating curriculum ideas and
- 28:52Speaker 2: other things to try to implement into your child's experience,
- 28:56Speaker 2: or maybe a classroom that you have stewardship of, this
- 28:59Speaker 2: con diference is for you. And they have done the
- 29:04Speaker 2: ridiculously silly thing only making it a fifty dollars ticket
- 29:09Speaker 2: for you to go, and they've even underwritten most of
- 29:11Speaker 2: your room. The hotel room is seventy dollars a night.
- 29:14Speaker 2: It's normally over two hundred a night for the resort.
- 29:17Speaker 2: So would you go to turningpointad dot com, hold your spot,
- 29:22Speaker 2: get your room, and to make plans to be in
- 29:25Speaker 2: Chicago June sixteenth through the nineteenth for the Turning Point
- 29:30Speaker 2: USA Education Summit, the fifth annual one that they've done,
- 29:34Speaker 2: first one that we've been a part of here at
- 29:35Speaker 2: that Kevin Show. But very very glad to Scott, Feltree
- 29:38Speaker 2: joins us, Scott, There's been nothing that you and I
- 29:43Speaker 2: in our discussions on air over the years, have tracked
- 29:45Speaker 2: more heatedly than the role that sex education plays in education.
- 29:52Speaker 2: And now that I'm a parent and I have kids
- 29:54Speaker 2: going through those grades, and by the way, the mccaullaugh
- 29:57Speaker 2: kids are all in public schools, but we have those conversations,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and we also are blessed in the district that we
- 30:04Speaker 2: live in to have a number of believers that work
- 30:06Speaker 2: in the school district, and so there's a there's a
- 30:09Speaker 2: balance there where we've chosen to go down this path. Again,
- 30:12Speaker 2: not for everybody, but it kind of regardless of where
- 30:15Speaker 2: you're at, you're going to confront sex education. And the
- 30:19Speaker 2: message that most of those programs are going to give
- 30:21Speaker 2: kids is not wait until marriage. It's going to be
- 30:25Speaker 2: something other than that. With the Success Sequence program, you
- 30:29Speaker 2: actually make the argument that absence until marriage is the
- 30:34Speaker 2: way to go. Why is that? Why is that your message?
- 30:38Speaker 2: Why is that important in this You know, the twenty
- 30:41Speaker 2: twenty six that we live in.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so critical and fits right in with the theme
- 30:46Speaker 4: of this conference that you're just talking about now, education
- 30:49Speaker 4: from it, cultivating clarity in chaos. Oh my goodness, that's
- 30:54Speaker 4: where our kids are at, right They are just getting
- 30:57Speaker 4: pounded by messages, all the messages that they receive regarding sex.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Think about it this way. I like to put it
- 31:04Speaker 1: this way.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Think about all the messages and imagery that our kids
- 31:08Speaker 4: receive about sex today through the media, through their phones,
- 31:11Speaker 4: through their televisions, their tablets, their computers, all the images
- 31:15Speaker 4: that they see. It's not just that our kids are
- 31:17Speaker 4: exposed to sexual imagery.
- 31:19Speaker 1: At earlier and earlier ages.
- 31:21Speaker 4: But think about this, Kevin, how much of the sex
- 31:24Speaker 4: that our kids are exposed to clearly communicates to them
- 31:28Speaker 4: the value of sex within the context of marriage.
- 31:31Speaker 2: None.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And it just isn't It just isn't there. And then
- 31:35Speaker 4: you say, well, hold on a minute, maybe the schools
- 31:38Speaker 4: are helping out. Unfortunately, Unfortunately, what most people will be
- 31:43Speaker 4: unaware of, Kevin, is that Planned parenthood is not only
- 31:46Speaker 4: the largest provider of abortions in America, they are also
- 31:50Speaker 4: not coincidentally, the largest provider of sex education in American schools.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Think about that for a minute, and so planned parenthood
- 31:58Speaker 4: sex education is the fundamental primary message that our kids
- 32:02Speaker 4: receive in school today. You don't have to have planned
- 32:05Speaker 4: parent who come into your school. It's what they learn
- 32:07Speaker 4: and teach your school. It's the fundamental message that most
- 32:12Speaker 4: schools across the nation teach. It's basically contraceptive education. It's
- 32:17Speaker 4: here's all the different types of contraception you're going to
- 32:20Speaker 4: be that you're going to need because we know you're
- 32:22Speaker 4: all going to be having the sex and there's no
- 32:25Speaker 4: reference to marriage whatsoever.
- 32:26Speaker 1: We exist to flip the script on that.
- 32:29Speaker 4: We believe it's not enough for us Kevin to go
- 32:31Speaker 4: to schools and say stop stop giving kids condoms, stop
- 32:35Speaker 4: putting girls on birth control pills starting in middle school,
- 32:38Speaker 4: stop doing all these bad It's not enough for us
- 32:40Speaker 4: to be against that.
- 32:42Speaker 1: We have to provide the alternative.
- 32:44Speaker 4: And so what the success Sicans program is. It's an
- 32:47Speaker 4: alternative to schools to say, hey, listen, here's something that
- 32:50Speaker 4: you can teach kids that's healthy and wholesome and helpful
- 32:55Speaker 4: and gives them a clear pathway forward in life.
- 32:59Speaker 1: The success Once you're familiar with this, three things.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Get an education, get a job, and then marry before
- 33:05Speaker 4: having children. Students who do those three things, it's almost
- 33:08Speaker 4: impossible for them to fall into poverty, on food stamps,
- 33:11Speaker 4: on well for our government dependency of any kind. So
- 33:15Speaker 4: we can benefit our kids just by teaching them the
- 33:17Speaker 4: success sequence. And then we're gonna include with that message
- 33:21Speaker 4: a clear message of reserving all sexual activity and child.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Bearing for the context of marriage.
- 33:28Speaker 4: We want to help young people understand that by resisting
- 33:32Speaker 4: sexual pressure, they're going to be much more inclined to
- 33:34Speaker 4: focus on their academics, they're going to do well. It's
- 33:37Speaker 4: going to help them prepare well for future education, future marriage,
- 33:40Speaker 4: and family. So it's absolutely fundamental, which is why we
- 33:44Speaker 4: fit so well with what the Turning Point Education Summit
- 33:47Speaker 4: is all about. It's about equipping parents and educators with
- 33:50Speaker 4: good quality, wholesome classical education, good messaging, and boy, they've
- 33:55Speaker 4: brought in all the.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Experts for it, and we're just we're just thrilled to
- 33:58Speaker 1: be a part of it.
- 33:59Speaker 2: All right, So, friends, I hope that this and this
- 34:01Speaker 2: is one little tiny peak at what you're going to
- 34:04Speaker 2: get at the Turning Point Annual Educator's Summit, June sixteenth,
- 34:08Speaker 2: through the nineteenth. It's at the Marriotte Lincolnshire Resort in Lincolnshire, Illinois,
- 34:12Speaker 2: just outside of the Chicago Hair Airport, and the rooms
- 34:17Speaker 2: are largely underwritten. The cost of the conference is largely underwritten.
- 34:21Speaker 2: You're not going to get this ticket for this price
- 34:23Speaker 2: anywhere else and come anywhere close to the quality of
- 34:26Speaker 2: what you're going to have. Please make please make that.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Can I say one thing about that, Keviny, It's incredible.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I mean, first of all, people need to know lincoln
- 34:34Speaker 4: marriott Shire is a beautiful resort, golf course, wedding venue.
- 34:38Speaker 4: It's this isn't just some hotel. It's a beautiful place.
- 34:41Speaker 4: And because of their donors, Turning Plant has some wonderful,
- 34:44Speaker 4: faithful donors.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Seventy five dollars a night for a room at a
- 34:48Speaker 1: beautiful resort is crazy stuff them.
- 34:50Speaker 2: And it's only fifty dollars for the night regularly.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, what's that?
- 34:54Speaker 2: So these rooms are regularly two to three hundred dollars
- 34:56Speaker 2: a night at.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Least at least it's beautiful. So I would encourage you
- 34:59Speaker 4: to call. The speakers are terrific. I mean, it's it's
- 35:03Speaker 4: a who's who of speakers. It's a wonderful lineup and
- 35:06Speaker 4: in a beautiful place.
- 35:08Speaker 1: You're gonna love it.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Oh and the other thing I wanted to mention is
- 35:11Speaker 4: today is the last day for that room rate.
- 35:13Speaker 1: That's seventy five dollars room rate. They need to register today.
- 35:16Speaker 4: So really important that they get online at Turning Pointed
- 35:20Speaker 4: dot com today and get registered because that is the
- 35:25Speaker 4: deadline for that room block. It's seventy five dollars a
- 35:27Speaker 4: it is today, So I really want to encourage people
- 35:29Speaker 4: to get on there and get.
- 35:31Speaker 1: That room So turning this is excellent.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Ed dot com. Turning point Ed dot com then make

- 37:18Speaker 2: My lovely bride, Christine Nicholas Linda Pirillo as we host
- 37:23Speaker 2: a kind of all inclusive, amazing trip to Italy where
- 37:29Speaker 2: we spend the first four days in Rome and seeing
- 37:33Speaker 2: the amazing things and sits and tastes and everything in Rome,
- 37:38Speaker 2: the amazing calm and pristine, just you know, serenity that
- 37:46Speaker 2: you'll experience on the Amalfi Coast. And to get to
- 37:50Speaker 2: do it with like minded people who love the country,
- 37:54Speaker 2: who love God, who love one another in such a
- 37:57Speaker 2: profound way. It's just going to be a really special
- 38:00Speaker 2: thing that I think if you don't participate in, you're
- 38:03Speaker 2: just going to kick yourself over and over again. So
- 38:06Speaker 2: go to Italy twenty twenty six dot info and hold
- 38:11Speaker 2: your spot. You don't pay the full amount for the trip,
- 38:14Speaker 2: but if you hold your spot then you'll you'll have
- 38:16Speaker 2: your seat reserved. But go to Italy twenty twenty six
- 38:20Speaker 2: dot info, Italy twenty twenty six dot info to do
- 38:24Speaker 2: that Italy twenty twenty six dot info. And if we
- 38:27Speaker 2: don't do this, friends, we rob them of something that
- 38:31Speaker 2: their parent has actually worked quite hard for. You may say, well, keV,
- 38:34Speaker 2: their parents are in prison. I know, but every one
- 38:36Speaker 2: of these kids that are on this list, their parent
- 38:39Speaker 2: has completed the prison Fellowship Bible program and graduated from it.
- 38:43Speaker 2: And part of the gift of graduation is they get
- 38:45Speaker 2: to nominate their child for a scholarship to go to
- 38:49Speaker 2: summer camp. The scholarships are what you and I provide
- 38:52Speaker 2: and it only costs two hundred dollars to help one
- 38:55Speaker 2: child get to camp this summer, and I just I
- 38:58Speaker 2: can't stress to you how strongly now that brings us
- 39:01Speaker 2: to forty four kids. The goal is one hundred and
- 39:04Speaker 2: sixty two, so we still have what one hundred and
- 39:07Speaker 2: eighteen to go to get all the names off the
- 39:10Speaker 2: list that we have, but I want to make sure
- 39:11Speaker 2: that we get every single one of them. So can
- 39:13Speaker 2: you can you help us? A one time gift of
- 39:15Speaker 2: two hundred dollars will take care of one. If you
- 39:17Speaker 2: can give a two thousand dollars gift ten kids, you'll
- 39:20Speaker 2: help ten kids get to camp. If you would be
- 39:23Speaker 2: willing to do a ten thousand dollars gift, I will
- 39:28Speaker 2: do something exceedingly special just for you and we'll figure
- 39:34Speaker 2: out what that is, because I don't like this one
- 39:36Speaker 2: size fits all, but something along the lines of bring
- 39:39Speaker 2: it to New York, take you to dinner and have
- 39:43Speaker 2: a fantastic time talking and getting to know one another
- 39:47Speaker 2: one on one. I think that would just be fabulous,
- 39:49Speaker 2: But it will need to be a sizeable gift, a
- 39:52Speaker 2: ten thousand dollars gift, which, by the way, would help
- 39:55Speaker 2: what forty children get to summer camp this year. That
- 39:59Speaker 2: would just be an amazing thing to see happen. Would
- 40:02Speaker 2: you be willing to do that?
- 40:04Speaker 1: I will.
- 40:04Speaker 2: I will fly it to New York. I will see
- 40:07Speaker 2: to it that we have a really excellent dinner. I
- 40:09Speaker 2: happen to have some ends with some of the best
- 40:11Speaker 2: chefs that are on TV or in New York City,
- 40:15Speaker 2: and we would spend an incredible evening getting to know
- 40:19Speaker 2: each other and understanding more about what you do and
- 40:22Speaker 2: why it's so important. But that that would be that
- 40:25Speaker 2: would be my pleasure to do. If you could help
- 40:28Speaker 2: us with a ten thousand dollars gift, we would we
- 40:31Speaker 2: would make that happen. But it's simple to do, so
- 40:35Speaker 2: go right now that Kevinshow dot Com, That Kevinshow dot Com,
- 40:40Speaker 2: That Kevin Show.
- 40:50Speaker 1: The following program is pre recorded.

- 41:13Speaker 1: The only thing that could be greater, of course.

- 41:16Speaker 4: We don't have that.

- 42:04Speaker 2: A man who is not what he wants to be,
- 42:07Speaker 2: but is way grateful that is not who he used
- 42:10Speaker 2: to be. Here all right, welcome man, It's Calvin mccallugh's
- 42:20Speaker 2: at Kevin Show.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Glad to have you with us.
- 42:22Speaker 2: The Thursday edition off and running. I'm telling you, friends,
- 42:27Speaker 2: the people that have been perpetrating fraud against our country
- 42:32Speaker 2: for the last however many years, who knows how far
- 42:37Speaker 2: back some of the stuff has gone on you know
- 42:40Speaker 2: what we've seen in Minnesota, what we're seeing California, what
- 42:43Speaker 2: the Vice President's team is now working on in terms
- 42:46Speaker 2: of discovering it's my belief we have barely scratched the
- 42:52Speaker 2: tip of the iceberg on this and we're going to
- 42:54Speaker 2: get to it. And I've got a brand new development,
- 42:57Speaker 2: breaking news that is very important for everyone understand, and
- 43:00Speaker 2: we're going to get into why it's important. In just
- 43:02Speaker 2: a second, I want to say welcome in. It's that
- 43:04Speaker 2: Kevin Show, that Kevinshow dot com. Everything there never behind
- 43:07Speaker 2: a paywall. We always want to make sure you have
- 43:09Speaker 2: access to it. You get the column, you get the podcast,
- 43:13Speaker 2: you get my socials, you get all of the radio
- 43:16Speaker 2: shows absolutely free. We never want any barrier between you
- 43:20Speaker 2: and the information that you're looking for. And because of
- 43:24Speaker 2: your efforts you made us. You gave us a record year,
- 43:27Speaker 2: a record month rather in terms of website traffic. We've never, never,
- 43:32Speaker 2: never had as many people come to the site as
- 43:34Speaker 2: we did here in the month of May, and we're
- 43:36Speaker 2: just so grateful for what you've done. And we've got
- 43:40Speaker 2: a lot to get to in the hour. So I
- 43:41Speaker 2: hope that you'll stay with us for the full time now.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Having said that, Oh and I've got Patrisa and Wuka
- 43:47Speaker 2: coming up. She's going to talk to us about what, really,
- 43:50Speaker 2: I think is the secret sauce for November, because November,
- 43:55Speaker 2: let's face it, all the good that's been done. If
- 43:58Speaker 2: November doesn't turn out, well, well, it can all be undone.
- 44:03Speaker 2: And if you think that the Democrats played ugly the
- 44:06Speaker 2: last time that they started to kind of clawback power
- 44:09Speaker 2: from the Trump you know, Impramada, you haven't seen nothing yet.
- 44:14Speaker 2: These people are gonna go nuts. They're gonna try to
- 44:17Speaker 2: pull out every last possible crazy scheme that they can
- 44:23Speaker 2: to object, to obstruct, to make this president seem like
- 44:28Speaker 2: he's not getting the job done, when in fact he's
- 44:31Speaker 2: done so much. I'm telling you that cabinet meeting yesterday
- 44:34Speaker 2: was just truly astounding. But one of the things I'm
- 44:37Speaker 2: really happy about, and I think that if you're honestly
- 44:41Speaker 2: a good American you have to be happy about this,
- 44:45Speaker 2: is the fact that the President and his team have
- 44:49Speaker 2: taken a whole of government approach to not only strengthening
- 44:54Speaker 2: the economy, not only making the globe safer, which you know,
- 44:58Speaker 2: Iran has not gone as easy we'd like it to,
- 45:01Speaker 2: but we're working on that. Eight wars have been ended.
- 45:05Speaker 2: There's there's still some issue with you know, Ukraine and Russia,
- 45:09Speaker 2: but we're going to figure that out. China, we've met with.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Venezuela's given us all their oil. We're in really good
- 45:17Speaker 2: shape in terms of so many different aspects of life.
- 45:20Speaker 2: But one of the things that they've got to that
- 45:22Speaker 2: they've got to get under control is this massive scam
- 45:26Speaker 2: to rip off the taxpayers of this country. And one
- 45:30Speaker 2: of the things I've loved about this administration is that
- 45:34Speaker 2: in every department and they went around at the cabinet
- 45:37Speaker 2: meeting yesterday and kind of told well, here's what we
- 45:40Speaker 2: uncovered in our department, and here's how we dealt with it,
- 45:42Speaker 2: and so forth. I love all that because what that
- 45:45Speaker 2: tells me is that you're taking this very seriously in
- 45:48Speaker 2: terms of really being a good steward of the tax dollars.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Now the taxpayers are only going to benefit from that.
- 45:57Speaker 2: And we just heard record returns to the taxpayers thirty
- 46:02Speaker 2: three hundred dollars on average across the board, and it's
- 46:08Speaker 2: really really incredible. So here's here's the challenge. Here's what
- 46:12Speaker 2: we're looking at here's where we're going. The federal agency
- 46:15Speaker 2: that oversees about one hundred and twenty six billion in
- 46:19Speaker 2: federal contracts is now joining the Vance Task Force for
- 46:27Speaker 2: the expansion of the White House crackdown on the government
- 46:30Speaker 2: contracting system. Now of a lot of where the fraud
- 46:33Speaker 2: has come in is where the government's made these deals
- 46:37Speaker 2: with groups and they've come in and they've said, hey,
- 46:39Speaker 2: we're going to make sure you get the work and
- 46:41Speaker 2: blah blah blah, and all of this has gone down
- 46:44Speaker 2: and then there's been no accountability and no checking and
- 46:46Speaker 2: so forth. And so that's how you had the Minnesota
- 46:50Speaker 2: childcare daycare scandal explode because they were checking all these checkboxes.
- 46:57Speaker 2: They were just saying what needed to be set on forms,
- 47:00Speaker 2: no accountability, no follow up, et cetera. Well, the biggest
- 47:02Speaker 2: agency in the federal government that handles that, that handles
- 47:06Speaker 2: those types of deals is what's called the General Services Administration.
- 47:10Speaker 2: It is the it's kind of the backbone they call itself.
- 47:16Speaker 2: They call themselves the engine of government. They handle a
- 47:22Speaker 2: ton of contracts for things like buildings, services, and goods
- 47:29Speaker 2: that agencies of the government rely on to operate. So
- 47:33Speaker 2: if you have a federal building, if you have goods
- 47:36Speaker 2: and services, if you have things that are needed for
- 47:39Speaker 2: that operation, it's the General Services Administration that handle all
- 47:44Speaker 2: of that. The GSA is going to be where this
- 47:48Speaker 2: stuff really comes home to roost. And so there was
- 47:50Speaker 2: this there was this question will they will they jump
- 47:53Speaker 2: on board with the task for ACE. Well, today breaking
- 47:56Speaker 2: news the General Services Administration, which sits at the center
- 48:00Speaker 2: are a federal acquisition and contracting in terms of the
- 48:03Speaker 2: ecosystem of the federal government, has joined the Force against
- 48:08Speaker 2: Fraud and making now that task force the most powerful investigatory,
- 48:14Speaker 2: reform minded, corruption rooting out task force in American history.
- 48:21Speaker 2: And they said this, they said, we're proud to join
- 48:24Speaker 2: and to aggressively identify abuse, strengthen oversight, and protect the
- 48:29Speaker 2: integrity of federal procurement. GSA will bring advanced and analytical capabilities,
- 48:35Speaker 2: investigative support, and cross government coordination to help expose high
- 48:39Speaker 2: risk fraud patterns and stop actors from exploiting taxpayer funded systems.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Thank the Lord. This is the way government should, by
- 48:48Speaker 2: the way, have already been operating. This is the way
- 48:51Speaker 2: everything should have been operating in the context of what
- 48:55Speaker 2: the government is doing because it is Again, it's not
- 49:01Speaker 2: there's no tree growing in the front yard just making money.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Every dollar that the government spends someone you, me, our families,
- 49:10Speaker 2: our family members, someone has earned that dollar. They have
- 49:14Speaker 2: then paid that dollar in taxes, and now it is
- 49:18Speaker 2: supposed to go to an assigned good that helps the
- 49:21Speaker 2: taxpayers that paid into it for that good to be received.
- 49:26Speaker 2: It is not the place where large numbers of illegals
- 49:31Speaker 2: should be coming to just milk the system. It shouldn't
- 49:34Speaker 2: be a place where Somali communal elements across the board
- 49:40Speaker 2: say we're going to rip off the American taxpayers and
- 49:42Speaker 2: take all this money as private income from the taxpayers.
- 49:45Speaker 2: It shouldn't be like the eight people that were just
- 49:48Speaker 2: arrested in California not long ago to the tune of
- 49:52Speaker 2: fifty million dollars that they took from the taxpayers. It
- 49:57Speaker 2: shouldn't be like the one point four bis million in
- 50:01Speaker 2: federal funding from home health and hospice providers. The home
- 50:05Speaker 2: health and hospice providers we're overbuilding the taxpayers to the
- 50:09Speaker 2: tune of one point four billion dollars. That shouldn't be
- 50:11Speaker 2: going on. This is an incredibly important It may seem
- 50:15Speaker 2: kind of boring the General Services Administration. It may seem boring,
- 50:19Speaker 2: it's not boring. It is vital, it is important, and
- 50:22Speaker 2: it's gonna get us to the place where we're going
- 50:25Speaker 2: to have more sound spending policy and accountable processes in
- 50:32Speaker 2: how the government spends the taxpayer money. And friends, that's
- 50:35Speaker 2: exactly what.
- 50:36Speaker 7: It should be.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Kevin mccallaugh, we've got a big hour straight ahead. Please
- 50:40Speaker 2: don't go anywhere.
- 51:01Speaker 12: Here.
- 51:01Speaker 1: He is from New York. Ken Kevin mccoma.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Welcome back to that Kevin Show, That Kevin Show dot
- 51:10Speaker 2: Com for all things related to the show, never behind
- 51:14Speaker 2: the paywall. We appreciate you checking it out, and we're
- 51:17Speaker 2: thankful that in the month of April and going into May,
- 51:20Speaker 2: you made us. You gave us record traffic for the month.
- 51:23Speaker 2: We've never had as many people come to the site
- 51:26Speaker 2: as you did in the month of April, and I
- 51:27Speaker 2: don't even know why that is, but I'm just glad
- 51:29Speaker 2: that we did. And let's keep that going. You've heard
- 51:33Speaker 2: me talk this week about the affordability issue, the war,
- 51:38Speaker 2: all the things that the administration is doing. All they're
- 51:41Speaker 2: all connected, they're all intricately kind of associated with each other.
- 51:45Speaker 2: But nothing is probably more important to what I'm hearing
- 51:50Speaker 2: from voters than what is being colloquially called affordability. And
- 51:57Speaker 2: even my own bride, who is talking about just a
- 52:00Speaker 2: couple of days ago winter gas price is going to
- 52:02Speaker 2: start correcting, and I said, babe, it's going to happen
- 52:04Speaker 2: when the war is dealt with and settled. But even
- 52:08Speaker 2: in the cabinet meeting this week, the President making clear
- 52:12Speaker 2: we are at all time production highs on liquid natural
- 52:14Speaker 2: gas and self production of oil. So what does affordability
- 52:17Speaker 2: look like? My next guest says it will be the
- 52:21Speaker 2: number one issue in the elections. Patrese son Wook is
- 52:23Speaker 2: back with us, a chief economist for the Independent Women's Forum,
- 52:28Speaker 2: And I just have to say again thank you Patrese
- 52:30Speaker 2: for hosting me and letting me come and bring the
- 52:32Speaker 2: show to y'all's summit in Gala a couple of weeks ago.
- 52:36Speaker 2: What an amazing day, what an amazing night. But I'm
- 52:41Speaker 2: not off on this, and my election instincts are rather good.
- 52:45Speaker 2: I have a long track record of kind of really
- 52:47Speaker 2: having my finger on the pulse. This is going to
- 52:51Speaker 2: if we do not deal with Iran with a decisive
- 52:54Speaker 2: victory that is clear and complete. I think by no
- 52:57Speaker 2: later than July fourth. I think I wanted it to
- 53:00Speaker 2: be done by Memorial Day, but by no later than
- 53:02Speaker 2: July fourth. The domino effect of what that does to
- 53:06Speaker 2: oil production, refinement, gas prices, availability, all the rest of it,
- 53:11Speaker 2: that starts to back up into the fall schedule. And
- 53:14Speaker 2: if we're still paying four dollars a gallon for gas
- 53:17Speaker 2: in November, I think it's going to be a very
- 53:19Speaker 2: bad day for Republicans.
- 53:21Speaker 13: I agree with you, and that's because, you know, gas
- 53:23Speaker 13: prices are the most relevant, timely and an important, you know,
- 53:28Speaker 13: economic metric that regular Americans look at when they think
- 53:32Speaker 13: about who they want to be in power and in leadership.
- 53:34Speaker 13: And there is nothing you know that tells you more about,
- 53:37Speaker 13: you know, whether your financial situation is better than how
- 53:40Speaker 13: much you're paying at the gas pump. And you can
- 53:42Speaker 13: compare that to the previous you know, election cycle two
- 53:46Speaker 13: years ago. Let's not forget that President Trump was elected
- 53:50Speaker 13: into office and he and voters gave Republicans control of
- 53:53Speaker 13: the House in the Senate precisely because they wanted to
- 53:56Speaker 13: change They wanted to see prices come down from you know,
- 53:59Speaker 13: the by in era highs which were twenty percent higher
- 54:02Speaker 13: than in the past, and so you know there were
- 54:05Speaker 13: in twenty twenty five, we saw tremendous, tremendous cuts in prices.
- 54:10Speaker 13: I mean we saw prices really fall where the headline
- 54:13Speaker 13: inflation rate had dipped down to I believe maybe under
- 54:16Speaker 13: what was under three percent, you know, in the two
- 54:19Speaker 13: point four to two point five range, and things were
- 54:21Speaker 13: really that was that meant that you were keeping more
- 54:23Speaker 13: of your paycheck. Finally, paychecks had outrun inflation, and so
- 54:27Speaker 13: people felt like, okay, I can get a handle on this.
- 54:30Speaker 13: At the grocery store, you saw the you know chips
- 54:33Speaker 13: in Freedom Lay for example, print new lower prices on
- 54:36Speaker 13: their chips bags because prices were falling. And so now
- 54:40Speaker 13: we've seen we're now what of three months into four
- 54:43Speaker 13: months and almost to this this worn with Iran, and
- 54:48Speaker 13: we have seen that the gas prices have a direct
- 54:50Speaker 13: impact both at the gas pump, but we also have
- 54:52Speaker 13: seen those prices filter out to the rest of the economy.
- 54:55Speaker 13: And to your point about the summer, I mean, people
- 54:57Speaker 13: are going to start making decisions Kevin, about whether they
- 55:00Speaker 13: take that long trip which is going to require them
- 55:03Speaker 13: gassing up multiple times, people are going to be looking
- 55:06Speaker 13: at the fuel at whether they buy an airline ticket.
- 55:09Speaker 13: When airline prices have increased, we've also seen airlines tack
- 55:12Speaker 13: on all these new fees to accommodate the fuel cost increases.
- 55:18Speaker 13: And so you know, going into the fall, those are
- 55:20Speaker 13: going to be really strong headwinds. And I do agree
- 55:22Speaker 13: that even if even when the Straight of Horror most reopens,
- 55:26Speaker 13: it's understandable while you have all those oil tankers they
- 55:29Speaker 13: are ready to flow out, it will take weeks to
- 55:32Speaker 13: clear the log jam that is at that chow point
- 55:35Speaker 13: to be able to get global prices kind of coming
- 55:39Speaker 13: back down, especially back to where they were before this
- 55:42Speaker 13: conflict started.
- 55:43Speaker 2: It's almost as though you would like to have the
- 55:46Speaker 2: US not participate in the global oil exchanges, because if
- 55:51Speaker 2: you were just running our own deal, we could cut
- 55:56Speaker 2: these prices quick based on our own production. I mean,
- 55:58Speaker 2: the President announced yesterday that we are doubling Russia and
- 56:02Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia combined total output this year. And then when
- 56:07Speaker 2: you heard Vesent and a lot of the other guys
- 56:10Speaker 2: talking about, you know, the Small Business Administration and other
- 56:14Speaker 2: people that were on the table talking about job creation,
- 56:17Speaker 2: which is off the charts. Companies are hiring more, they're
- 56:20Speaker 2: doing more. There's there's a lot of pro very positive
- 56:24Speaker 2: activity going on in the economy. But you don't get
- 56:28Speaker 2: the gas price down. People that there's a psychological impact
- 56:32Speaker 2: on that that doesn't seem to and they say that
- 56:35Speaker 2: even with the war, the Big Beautiful Bill has overcome
- 56:38Speaker 2: the challenge of those gas prices and people still effectively
- 56:41Speaker 2: got a raising quarter one. Absolutely, but if you don't
- 56:45Speaker 2: feel like you got a raise, it doesn't matter if
- 56:47Speaker 2: you got it or not. It's how much do I
- 56:49Speaker 2: feel it as opposed to what it actually is.
- 56:52Speaker 13: Well, in that cushion, the tax refunds, which were I
- 56:55Speaker 13: believe the largest in history of prety three hundred on
- 56:57Speaker 13: average exactly. That was great and it provided a very
- 57:02Speaker 13: nice cushion for the past few months. But that cushion
- 57:04Speaker 13: has kind of flattened out. And so when we're looking
- 57:06Speaker 13: at some of the consumers spending data that just came
- 57:09Speaker 13: out this morning, we're seeing that consumers, if you're wealthy,
- 57:13Speaker 13: if you're on a higher income levels, you're still continuing
- 57:16Speaker 13: to spend because you're not spending as I mean, your
- 57:19Speaker 13: income can keep ahead of inflation. It's those middle and
- 57:23Speaker 13: lower class families and households who are squeezed right now, Kevin,
- 57:28Speaker 13: who are making those real essential decisions about whether they're
- 57:32Speaker 13: buying gas to get to work, or whether they're cutting
- 57:34Speaker 13: back on the groceries, whether they're deciding not to pick
- 57:37Speaker 13: up that prescription, and so you know, it's really important
- 57:40Speaker 13: that we can get gas prices down and then the
- 57:42Speaker 13: larger those prices will filter across the rest of the
- 57:45Speaker 13: prices we pay on food and other things, but especially
- 57:49Speaker 13: for those low income households that are really struggling because
- 57:52Speaker 13: they disproportionately spend more of their incomes on things like
- 57:57Speaker 13: gas and housing and shelter, those really basic essential needs.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Well, I'm hopeful, and I said this in my column yesterday,
- 58:06Speaker 2: that we will have a decision and that this Iranian
- 58:11Speaker 2: issue will be cared for. And if it is cared
- 58:13Speaker 2: for by July fourth, I feel like we can enter
- 58:16Speaker 2: into two fifty with a huge celebration and have even
- 58:20Speaker 2: more reason to cheer when the fall rolls around. But
- 58:22Speaker 2: I am starting to get concerned that that is not
- 58:25Speaker 2: the case, and that's not being critical the president. We
- 58:30Speaker 2: cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's the bottom right,
- 58:33Speaker 2: and if it costs him his presidency or the parties
- 58:37Speaker 2: in Congress to ensure that that's the case, I will
- 58:39Speaker 2: grit my teeth and say it's still worth it. But
- 58:42Speaker 2: I don't want to have to lose all the good
- 58:44Speaker 2: stuff that's going on too. But here, let's contrast this
- 58:47Speaker 2: because you've also you've commented recently on the Mundanni, who
- 58:52Speaker 2: is the total polar opposite of Donald Trump. If you
- 58:55Speaker 2: go in the other direction, the Mamdani plan, and he
- 58:59Speaker 2: wants to basic takeover housing, steal it from people, and
- 59:02Speaker 2: then turn it into low rent subsidy.
- 59:05Speaker 13: Yeah, he released his housing plan. This is a plan,
- 59:08Speaker 13: he calls it a bold plan to create four hundred
- 59:12Speaker 13: thousand rental units in New York City.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Two hundred of them.
- 59:16Speaker 13: Would be created by you know, completely newly rebuilt built
- 59:20Speaker 13: you know, you know, apartment buildings for example, and then
- 59:24Speaker 13: two hundred of them would be kind of moving maybe
- 59:27Speaker 13: dilapidated or under used, underutilized properties into the hands of renters.
- 59:33Speaker 13: At the core of this, Kevin is a Marxist, is
- 59:37Speaker 13: a socialist as a communist approach, which is that the
- 59:40Speaker 13: government should take ownership of private property and then do
- 59:45Speaker 13: whatever it wants with it. So his idea is that
- 59:47Speaker 13: if you the government will just in New York City,
- 59:49Speaker 13: will decide which properties are dilapidated, are blighted and need
- 59:53Speaker 13: to be taken out of the hands of a private
- 59:55Speaker 13: land landlord and then transfer it into the hands of
- 1:00:00Speaker 13: maybe a federally sorry, a state agency, or a nonprofit organization,
- 1:00:05Speaker 13: or within the hands of the renters themselves. I talked
- 1:00:08Speaker 13: about how number one, fundamentally you are undercutting what it
- 1:00:12Speaker 13: means to be part of a capitalistic society, excuse me,
- 1:00:16Speaker 13: a part of a free society where private property rights
- 1:00:20Speaker 13: entitle you to rubber your stamp of America, your piece
- 1:00:24Speaker 13: of land, your house, to do with whatever you decide
- 1:00:26Speaker 13: to do with it, including being a landlord. And then
- 1:00:29Speaker 13: practically this will not work. There's a small program in
- 1:00:33Speaker 13: New York City, the seven a program where you can
- 1:00:35Speaker 13: theoretically report a landlord as a slum lord. It forces
- 1:00:41Speaker 13: him to make changes and update the codes the buildings
- 1:00:45Speaker 13: and the properties, and then he gets to either keep
- 1:00:47Speaker 13: his property or if he doesn't, that property could move
- 1:00:50Speaker 13: back into the hands of the city. It's a very
- 1:00:52Speaker 13: small program is there's no research on the actual outcomes
- 1:00:56Speaker 13: and very often. If you transfer these properties out of
- 1:00:59Speaker 13: the hands of the landlords into let's say the renters,
- 1:01:02Speaker 13: the renters have no incentive to pool together them.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: They have no capital. That's why they're renting.
- 1:01:07Speaker 13: Have the money exactly, And so these properties continue to
- 1:01:10Speaker 13: be dilapidated. So he will turn create even more blighted places,
- 1:01:16Speaker 13: blighted areas for people to live in, and people will
- 1:01:19Speaker 13: not want to live in these places. It is dangerous,
- 1:01:23Speaker 13: It is scary, and I hope it doesn't become replicated
- 1:01:25Speaker 13: across the United States from some of his other sympathizers,
- 1:01:28Speaker 13: from your.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Lips to God's ears, Lady, that's all we can hope for. Okay,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: the Tree's always doing a great job at independent with you.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Thank you for being with us.
- 1:01:36Speaker 14: Thanks Kevin, you got it.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Kevin mccallaugh coming back from New York.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Don't go way, stick around for more than Kevin next
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: time here he is from New York. That Kevin McCullough.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Welcome back, Kevin mccallaugh. Glad heaven with us at Kevin Show.
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: We are talking about young people and having their lives
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: completely transformed, turned upside down in the best way possible
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: through Angel Tree Camp and it is a vision of
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Prison Fellowship, which was started by Chuck Colson many years ago,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: to not only help parents not be recidivists, but if
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: they are convicted of a crime, actually have their lives redeemed,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: find Jesus, start over, begin again, have a new birth.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I've read something about that in the New Testament. I
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: think that's pretty biblical. But not only that, because of
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: the damage that's been done to these families from the
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: criminal behavior, from the activity, they want to help try
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: to put these families back together again. And the Angel
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Tree program, that's really the focus of it. It's to
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: make sure that kids are not forgotten by their parent.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: It's to make sure that the kids know that God
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: loves them more than their parent does. And it's to
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: bring together a redeemed heart in the life of the
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: parent and a redeemed heart in the life of the
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: child and friends, reconciliation can happen out of that, and
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: this can be a family reconciliating program that just does
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: a world of good, not only stopping the cycle of
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: crime but going on to accomplish good things. Steve Collins
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: is back with us, and Steve, you've been the senior
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: camp director for Angel Tree for a while. And I
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: know that every kid that comes in has a story,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: but there are some that stand out, I'm sure. So
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: talk to me about one that may have gotten your
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: attention or tugged at your heart as it played out
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: with Angel Tree camping.
- 1:03:50Speaker 14: Yeah, thank you.
- 1:03:52Speaker 12: I have one particular story that comes to mind. I
- 1:03:55Speaker 12: was able last year to actually talk with former Angel
- 1:04:00Speaker 12: Tree camper uh, and he was very kind to let
- 1:04:03Speaker 12: me share his story.
- 1:04:04Speaker 10: UH.
- 1:04:05Speaker 12: And his name is Jediah. And Jediah when he was
- 1:04:08Speaker 12: a child, his father was incarcerated. He lived with his grandmother.
- 1:04:11Speaker 12: The father signed Jediah up for Angel Tree Christmas. So
- 1:04:15Speaker 12: jedi was able to receive that Christmas gift on behalf
- 1:04:18Speaker 12: of his incarcerated father, along with the gospel message and
- 1:04:22Speaker 12: a note from his father, and it helped build that connection.
- 1:04:26Speaker 12: And then he found out about Angel Tree camping that
- 1:04:29Speaker 12: he could attend camp on a scholarship and and so
- 1:04:34Speaker 12: Jedia's grandmother UH signed him up for the camp that
- 1:04:38Speaker 12: he wanted to go to and UH and and so
- 1:04:41Speaker 12: that was probably mid spring that he signed up for camp,
- 1:04:45Speaker 12: and then tragedy struck Uh.
- 1:04:48Speaker 14: Jediah's father passed away just about a.
- 1:04:51Speaker 12: Month before Jedi was scheduled to go to camp, and
- 1:04:56Speaker 12: his grandmother was naturally hesitant, like I still send him
- 1:05:01Speaker 12: away to camp when his father just died. And Jediah
- 1:05:05Speaker 12: shared with me he was he was very closed off
- 1:05:08Speaker 12: during this time, you know, he did not know how
- 1:05:10Speaker 12: to to really process the grief that he was experiencing.
- 1:05:14Speaker 12: His grandmother asked him if he if he still wanted
- 1:05:16Speaker 12: to go to camp, and and he was, he was
- 1:05:19Speaker 12: willing to give it a try.
- 1:05:20Speaker 14: Uh.
- 1:05:20Speaker 12: The grandmother called the camp to find explain the situation,
- 1:05:24Speaker 12: said do you think he would be okay? And the
- 1:05:26Speaker 12: camp said, we will take really good care of him
- 1:05:28Speaker 12: and we'll be attentive. Uh, and we'll let you know
- 1:05:30Speaker 12: if it doesn't work out, you know, you can you
- 1:05:32Speaker 12: can always pick him up. So jedia went to camp.
- 1:05:36Speaker 12: He got there, there was lots of energy, lots of
- 1:05:39Speaker 12: fun taking place for jedia feeling very closed off, just
- 1:05:41Speaker 12: kind of sat down alone by himself. One of the
- 1:05:45Speaker 12: camp counselors saw this happening, so he went over and
- 1:05:47Speaker 12: sat down beside him and and just kind of uh
- 1:05:50Speaker 12: started talking with him and connecting with him right where
- 1:05:53Speaker 12: he was at and and uh and helping to build
- 1:05:56Speaker 12: some trust and and to embrace camp. And so during
- 1:06:00Speaker 12: this camp week, they have actually a very special time.
- 1:06:04Speaker 12: During the camp week, they built a small stone wall,
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: and all the kids at camp are able to add
- 1:06:10Speaker 12: a stone to that wall to symbolize something that they've
- 1:06:13Speaker 12: lost or something that they're.
- 1:06:15Speaker 14: Leaving behind at camp.
- 1:06:17Speaker 12: And so jedia knew, you know, his big thing was
- 1:06:19Speaker 12: he had lost his father, and so he added a
- 1:06:22Speaker 12: stone to that wall and he kind of announced what
- 1:06:26Speaker 12: that stone represented and shared with the people around him
- 1:06:30Speaker 12: his grief. And in that moment, he was able to
- 1:06:32Speaker 12: open up and and really share all of the pain
- 1:06:35Speaker 12: and the heartache that he was experiencing, and this camp
- 1:06:38Speaker 12: community came around him and supported him and prayed with him,
- 1:06:41Speaker 12: and it was just a real breakthrough moment. Now, Jediah
- 1:06:44Speaker 12: later shared with me that that week at camp had
- 1:06:47Speaker 12: done more for him than months of therapy had done
- 1:06:52Speaker 12: before and after camp, because it was just a transformational
- 1:06:56Speaker 12: moment for him at camp.
- 1:06:58Speaker 14: And so he went back to camp the next year and.
- 1:07:00Speaker 12: Went back again and is working his way up through
- 1:07:03Speaker 12: their junior leadership program so that he was actually able
- 1:07:07Speaker 12: to be a counselor at camp last summer, and so
- 1:07:10Speaker 12: it's just a beautiful story about how camp can reach
- 1:07:14Speaker 12: a child in the deepest, darkest place and really minister
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: the need that they have.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: Yeah, Wow, friends, that is that that is a real
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: snapshot of what your gift launches. Go to that Kevinshow
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: dot com, that kevinshow dot com and click the banner
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: at the top of the page. For two hundred dollars,
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: one child can go to camp. Two hundred dollars one
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: child can go to camp and friends. Obviously, if you
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: can do like a two thousand dollars gift, you're going
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: to help ten kids find Jesus this summer. If you
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: could do a multiple of even that, you'd help even more.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: In many instances, you're bringing back together a child and
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: a parent in a way that is true reconciliation. The
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: parent is incarcerated, but this is a way that they
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: can tell their child that they're loved, they're not forgotten,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: they're still remembered, and it's just so powerful. Please, please,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: please go to the website that Kevinshow dot com and
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: click the banner at the top of the page. It
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: takes about two minutes to make that happen, and when
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: it's done, there's another kid taking off my list and
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: ready to go to camp this summer. That kevinshow dot com.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: That kevinshow dot com. All one word that kevinshow dot
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: com and click the angel tree banner at the top
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: of the page. Kevin McCullough, very glad to have you
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: with us, coming right back from New.
- 1:08:42Speaker 14: York and pull whatever.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Here he is from New York. That Kevin McCullough.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Welcome inn It's Thursday, and we're always pleased to have
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: you with us, even here in the late part of
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: the second hour. Kevin mccaullugh, glad to have you with us.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: That Kevin Show. And Shelley Goldberg is always with us
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: on Thursdays, helping us take just one little thing and
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: work on it a little bit better this week. Shelley.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I think if you try to tell people how to
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: be a better parent, you give them the whole you
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: know what they don't tell you about parenting encyclopedia. You
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: can overwhelm people pretty quick. That's why I love our
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: feature because we just talk about one thing, just one
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: just try one thing a little bit better this week,
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: and it's practical, and this week very practical, we're talking
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: about well communication.
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: That's right, Kevin.
- 1:09:54Speaker 10: I thought it might be interesting to talk about the
- 1:09:56Speaker 10: words that we use, the phrases that we use to
- 1:09:59Speaker 10: communicate with our kids. That might be the wrong words,
- 1:10:04Speaker 10: maybe not the best words, a little hurtful, potentially damaging,
- 1:10:09Speaker 10: judgmental shaming, but we don't even know that we're doing it.
- 1:10:14Speaker 10: Maybe we're doing it because that was the way we
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: were spoken to, or it's just a habit, or we've
- 1:10:21Speaker 10: heard another parents say it.
- 1:10:22Speaker 11: Whatever.
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: So my suggestion, my thought is that maybe over the
- 1:10:26Speaker 10: summer we we think some of the words and phrases
- 1:10:30Speaker 10: that we use to speak with our kids and to
- 1:10:33Speaker 10: see if we want to make some modifications or some changes.
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: And so maybe you could share with us as we
- 1:10:38Speaker 10: move along, anything that you've done with your kids that
- 1:10:41Speaker 10: you've changed. So there are some great articles on this
- 1:10:44Speaker 10: and some great information. So let me start and see.
- 1:10:47Speaker 14: If this resonates.
- 1:10:49Speaker 10: Number one, it's very common we often say to our kids,
- 1:10:52Speaker 10: or i'd heard I've certainly heard other parents say in
- 1:10:54Speaker 10: the playground, stop crying over nothing. You're being so dramatic,
- 1:10:59Speaker 10: you're such a big stop being so sensitive. Now, this
- 1:11:04Speaker 10: minimizes what your kids are feeling. It dismisses what they're feeling.
- 1:11:08Speaker 10: It's telling them that their emotions are long something to
- 1:11:12Speaker 10: be ashamed of. So I'm suggesting that instead we say
- 1:11:16Speaker 10: something like I can see that this feels really big
- 1:11:19Speaker 10: to you. I'm here to help. Or I know that
- 1:11:22Speaker 10: you're feeling mad. I con sense that you're feeling sad
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: things like that. Two, I do so much for you, Susie,
- 1:11:29Speaker 10: And this is how you act that makes it sound
- 1:11:32Speaker 10: Kevin like love's conditional. Instead, say something like, I love
- 1:11:36Speaker 10: you no matter what, but I'm not happy with this
- 1:11:40Speaker 10: specific choice you made.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: Three, Why can't you be more like your sister Charlotte?
- 1:11:46Speaker 10: Uh ah? Comparisons are always a no no. They make
- 1:11:50Speaker 10: kids feal they're not good enough, and it's going to
- 1:11:53Speaker 10: only increase the resentment they have towards a sibling. Instead,
- 1:11:57Speaker 10: what you have to do, mom and Dad focus on
- 1:11:59Speaker 10: your chee child's wonderful strengths.
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: Susie.
- 1:12:02Speaker 10: I so admire, I really admire how hard you're working
- 1:12:06Speaker 10: on the blocks or on the you know, the painting
- 1:12:10Speaker 10: that you're making. But you want to focus on that
- 1:12:12Speaker 10: child's strengths, not comparisons.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: Four.
- 1:12:15Speaker 10: You want to always stay away from absolutes. You never
- 1:12:18Speaker 10: want to say things like you are always you never,
- 1:12:22Speaker 10: because that's making your kid feel that they're stuck in
- 1:12:25Speaker 10: this negative self image and there's nowhere to go instead.
- 1:12:28Speaker 10: I notice, Jonathan, I noticed that this happens a lot.
- 1:12:33Speaker 10: Let's sit down and figure out what's going on.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Six.
- 1:12:36Speaker 10: I see this often with toddlers, especially with young kids.
- 1:12:41Speaker 10: You your parents saying great job, Great job, Susie, great job, Jonathan.
- 1:12:47Speaker 10: It's wonderful to say it when your child is one
- 1:12:50Speaker 10: or two, and it's also wonderful to say it occasionally.
- 1:12:53Speaker 10: But you don't want a child to be other motivated.
- 1:12:57Speaker 10: You don't want your kids dependent on verbal You wanted
- 1:13:01Speaker 10: to come from internal motivator motivation.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: You want the.
- 1:13:05Speaker 10: Reward process to come from themselves. So instead focus your
- 1:13:09Speaker 10: phrase on specific feedback. If they're drawing a picture, instead
- 1:13:14Speaker 10: of saying great job, say I love the colors you used,
- 1:13:17Speaker 10: or I loved the crayons that you picked out, or
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: the way that you place the sun in the right
- 1:13:22Speaker 10: hand corner or whatever.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: But make it be specific. Seven.
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: Hurry up, hurry up, Come on, Jonathan, hurry up. Just
- 1:13:29Speaker 10: create stress and toddlers. What you want to do instead,
- 1:13:32Speaker 10: say you want to use the word wei this way,
- 1:13:36Speaker 10: you're in it together with your child. Let's see if
- 1:13:39Speaker 10: we can finish this a bit sooner. Let's see if
- 1:13:43Speaker 10: we can just make if they're a little sooner, Susie.
- 1:13:47Speaker 10: God's better than saying hurry up. Something else you want
- 1:13:51Speaker 10: to stay away from saying, let's say you want a
- 1:13:52Speaker 10: toy store cabin. We can't afford that. We're poor. Terrible
- 1:13:57Speaker 10: message to send to your kids. What you might say
- 1:14:00Speaker 10: instead is we're not going to buy that because we're
- 1:14:02Speaker 10: saving for more important things. Nine, No dessert unless you
- 1:14:07Speaker 10: finish dinner. This is only going to increase your child's
- 1:14:11Speaker 10: value of the treat at the end, and it's going
- 1:14:13Speaker 10: to devalue the actual meal. So just make a minor
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: change and say something like, first we eat our meal,
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: then we have dessert.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Stop it.
- 1:14:23Speaker 10: People are looking at us, people are looking at you.
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: What do you think others are thinking of us when
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: you do that. That's a terrible, terrible message because what
- 1:14:32Speaker 10: you're saying to your kids and then going to end
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: up spending years in therapy, is that what other people
- 1:14:37Speaker 10: think about them is way more important than what they
- 1:14:40Speaker 10: think about themselves. Evan, I'm just I have more, but
- 1:14:43Speaker 10: I want to know your thoughts about you.
- 1:14:45Speaker 12: Now.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: I think that one of the things that's kind of
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: thread through all those things that you said is the
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: negative and shame aspect of each of them. And don't
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: get me wrong, I don't I think that shame uses
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: a proper shame has a proper purpose that keeps us
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: from wanting to do the things that we should not do.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: But I do think that the more winsomely you can,
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: and this is the key part of it, repetitively put
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: the positive opposite side into the embedded brain thinking of
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: the kids. So, for instance, if they've made a horrible mistake,
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: spilled something broken, something done, something that they already feel
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: fully ashamed about, there's no need to do any of
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: that because their conscience is already working over time on that.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: That type of approach to the correction I think is
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: something that not only helps them in the moment and
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: they feel like there's a I don't know, a path
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: to some sort of redemption or a betterment, but it's
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: also you're embedding something in their brain that hopefully will
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: come back to them time and time again in the
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: in the future that will help them, you know, premeditatedly
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: avoid the circumstance that creates the issue to begin with.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: And I find that you can do that with almost
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: everything about you know, whatever you talk about with them,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:16:19Speaker 10: With you, and it's looking for the positive thread to
- 1:16:22Speaker 10: move them forward.
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: Here's one that I like it.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Well, hold on with that.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: We'll come back next week and continue this because it's
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: so good, but we're out of time today. Shelley Goldberg,
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: thank you as always for all that you do for us.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Thank you, Kevin, you got it.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Kevin McCullough coming right back to them for what let's
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: stick around.
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: For more of than Kevin next serving it up. That's
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: a no dream, Mitt, It's that the show.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: I'm so grateful for you, and I'm so grateful for
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: those of you that have helped us along the lines
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: of getting the message out for Project Angel Tree Camp
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: this year.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Friends.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Yesterday another eight children were given the gift of Christian
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Camp for the summer because of your generosity, and that
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: brings us to forty four kids that have been spoken for.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: We are in the process of needing to get to
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: one hundred and sixty two, So we've still got a
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: lot of wood to chop, as they say. But I'm
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: confident that if there were one hundred and eighteen of
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: you within the sound of my voice, and there's easily
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: way more than that listening right now in four hundred
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: stations across the country, if just one hundred and eighteen
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: of you said, will I will adopt one kid and
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: give one kid a scholarship to go to summer camp
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: this year, It's a fifty dollars It's a two hundred
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: dollars gift one time. If you need to break it
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: up to one hundred dollars a month over two months,
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: or four to four gifts of fifty dollars each, whatever
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: you need to do to make that happen, that will
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: still count. It will still help getting kid to camp,
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: and it would be incredibly meaningful for you to do
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: something along those lines. These kids, they share one thing
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: in common all of their parents. They all have parents
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: who have been incarcerated. But they also share another thing
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: in common. Not only have all of them have a
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: parent who's been incarcerated, they also all have a parent
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: who's gone through the prison Fellowship Bible Study program in prison,
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: and upon graduation have been given the opportunity to nominate
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: their child for a scholarship week of Christian summer camp.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: And if you don't think that this might just reverse
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: the cycle of what that family has been going through already,
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: think again, Because when the parent finds Jesus in prison
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: and then says, hey, I want my kid to know Jesus,
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: will you send them to a Christian camp where they're
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: going to be, you know, confronted with the claims of
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: the Gospel every day, that's a powerful thing. So go
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: to that kevinshow dot com. Click the banner at the
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: top of the page that kevinshow dot com. Click the
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: banner at the top of the page. You can select
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: how much you want to give. On the page you'll
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: see right up to the minute, how many kids we
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: have going but friends we've got We've got one hundred
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: and eighteen that still need help. And I know that
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: you could help them. And I threw this out last hour.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: If there's someone that would like to give a gift
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: of ten thousand dollars ten thousand dollars one time gift,
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: I would like to bring it to New York. Treat
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: you to dinner and have a one on one evening
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: with you and your and your significant other and get
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: to know a little bit about who you are. Maybe
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: if you have a business, what that consists of. But
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I would love to just say thank you in a
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: tangible way if you would help forty children find their
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: way to camp through a gift, a one time gift
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: of ten thousand dollars. I believe that there's someone in
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: the audience that could do that. There may be more
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: than one, and for everybody that does it, will do
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: the same thing. But I need your help right now
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: because I don't want to leave any of these one
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: hundred and sixty two names off the list of kids
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: who get summer camp. So would you help us? Would
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: you be willing to help us right now? Go to
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: that kevinshow dot com, select the amount and give the gift.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: It takes like twenty five seconds if you're good on
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: the computer or on the handheld device, and then give
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: that gift. And then let's figure out ways to make
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: these children's lives so much more than what they are
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: facing this summer without the possibility of going to camp.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: And again, if you can make that gift of ten
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: thousand dollars. I will do something personally for you, but
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I don't if we didn't, if we didn't have that
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: at all, that would be fine. As long as we
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: had one hundred and eighteen people. It said I will
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: take care of one child this year. Would you at
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: least go that are to say, there's a kid whose
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: life can be majorly impacted by Jesus at Christian Camp
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: this year, and I want to see to it that
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: that child has that opportunity. That kevinshow dot com. Click
