- 2:26Speaker 2: the front.

- 2:49Speaker 2: This has been a whirlwind. Halloween week is always super
- 2:51Speaker 2: busy for us, of course, episode after episode, but we
- 2:55Speaker 2: love doing it. It's so fun. So thank you guys
- 2:57Speaker 2: for amazing support this whole way.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's an awesome week. This afternoon, we also watched The Shining.
- 3:02Speaker 2: We did.
- 3:03Speaker 3: We did look at Us watching? Was is that considered
- 3:07Speaker 3: a horror movie?
- 3:08Speaker 2: I think it's a psychological thriller technically.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Look at us go, well, look at me go. You're
- 3:14Speaker 3: more into that than I am.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I mean, they're they're cool movies regardless.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it was actually good. I enjoyed it.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It was here's Johnny gotta love it.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Classic, classic, and see I didn't really know where that
- 3:26Speaker 3: was from before.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Have you not seen The Shining?
- 3:29Speaker 3: No?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Really?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I haven't watched many spooky films. Really, we should.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Watch another one tonight, let's do it. Which which one
- 3:39Speaker 2: should it be?
- 3:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to think on that, think of a
- 3:43Speaker 2: good classic one to throw on. Yeah, maybe like a
- 3:46Speaker 2: Friday the thirteenth. Have you seen those ones?
- 3:49Speaker 3: I feel like I've seen because there's more than one right,
- 3:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, so I feel like I've seen some. Okay,
- 3:55Speaker 3: like just just look at the list that we put
- 3:57Speaker 3: out last year. I'm like the movies and maybe pick
- 4:01Speaker 3: one off there because we did we did a list
- 4:02Speaker 3: last year of the best I.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Forgot all about that list. Oh did you I think
- 4:06Speaker 2: we should have done one this year too, Yeah, did
- 4:09Speaker 2: one last year.
- 4:10Speaker 3: That's okay. Yeah, we can even re share that.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll take a look at that list and see
- 4:15Speaker 2: what else we should watch. Yeah, well, I think we
- 4:18Speaker 2: should get onto this case. We shouldn't BLib lab too much.
- 4:22Speaker 2: If that's even a word, I don't know, but I
- 4:24Speaker 2: think we carry onto this case. It's a Wicked and
- 4:26Speaker 2: Graham terminology. Official in the dictionary. It means blabbing, if
- 4:32Speaker 2: you blid blab.
- 4:33Speaker 3: To blab onwards and onwards.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Oh, it means to blab excessively on the introduction of
- 4:40Speaker 2: your podcast episode. That's what it's official definition.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Let's dictionary, let's do it.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So, yeah, no more blid blabbing. Let's get into this case.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Let's dive in.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You ready, I am so. As Jacko alluded, there is
- 4:54Speaker 2: a bit of a twist at the end of this,
- 4:58Speaker 2: so be prepared for that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: And he said stay till the end.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yes, So yeah, without further ado, let's let's let's do this. So.
- 5:08Speaker 2: This is known as the Alice Killings, and it takes
- 5:12Speaker 2: place in Japan. Oh, okay, so this took place between
- 5:17Speaker 2: nineteen ninety nine and two thousand and five. Now, a
- 5:21Speaker 2: series of five murders occurred. Sorry, I gotta like it.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Just my microf out here. Wasn't actually that long ago?
- 5:28Speaker 2: No, it wasn't. So the five killings on their own
- 5:31Speaker 2: didn't seem really connected in any way to authorities. They
- 5:36Speaker 2: may never have actually drawn a line from one to
- 5:38Speaker 2: the other because they were so different, really, had it
- 5:41Speaker 2: not been for a calling card that was left behind
- 5:45Speaker 2: at each of the crime scenes. So the killer would
- 5:49Speaker 2: leave a random playing card at each scene in a
- 5:52Speaker 2: very conspicuous location. Now, that in itself is probably enough.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But the card had something very specific pick tying them
- 6:01Speaker 2: all together.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:03Speaker 2: In fact, it was written right on the face of
- 6:05Speaker 2: the card, and it would contain the name Alice, and
- 6:10Speaker 2: it would be written in the victim's blood.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, gross, I hate that.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah. So if that's not and of course that's where
- 6:18Speaker 2: it gets the nickname the Alice Killings.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. So it would just say Alice in
- 6:24Speaker 3: the victim's blood, correct, Wow, Okay, as simple as.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That, just just Alice. And then people were asking who
- 6:31Speaker 2: the fuck is Alice? I think that went over yet.
- 6:34Speaker 3: That's a song I know, Alice, Alice. I was thinking, Alice,
- 6:39Speaker 3: are you okay? I made it better? Alice, are you okay?
- 6:45Speaker 2: I can't remember who sings it, but the song goes
- 6:46Speaker 2: Alice Alice?
- 6:47Speaker 3: Who the fuck is Alice? I have living.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Next door to Alice Alice? Yeah yeah, so so yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: left police wondering who the fuck is Alice? So well,
- 7:00Speaker 2: this story starts, out of course with our first victim. Now,
- 7:05Speaker 2: this victim was twenty nine year old restaurant to her
- 7:09Speaker 2: and like I said, this is Japans. These are Japanese names.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Sasaki Megumi, okay. Now, she was known for being a
- 7:16Speaker 2: great cook and chef and dedicated to her work as
- 7:19Speaker 2: a restaurant owner. So those who knew her described her
- 7:24Speaker 2: as headstrong with a short temper and sharp tongue when
- 7:28Speaker 2: dealing with her employees. But by the sounds of it,
- 7:31Speaker 2: I don't think she was like a bad boss or
- 7:33Speaker 2: like a mean individual by any means. It seemed like
- 7:36Speaker 2: she was just very passionate about her job and wanted
- 7:38Speaker 2: to ensure that others weren't harming the business. That she
- 7:42Speaker 2: was pouring her heart and soul into kind of thing.
- 7:44Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't judge anyone for that. I mean, if
- 7:47Speaker 2: you're sitting here trying to run a business and open
- 7:49Speaker 2: a restaurant, you wanted to succeed, and then you have
- 7:52Speaker 2: like a cook or a server that comes in and
- 7:53Speaker 2: they're just being a douche canoo. Yeah, of course you're
- 7:56Speaker 2: going to get a sharp tongue towards him, right.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Restaurants like the restaurant in the street's very competitive, right.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and it's a high rate of failure for
- 8:04Speaker 2: a new restaurant to open.
- 8:07Speaker 3: I mean that's stressful.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah. So anyways, one night, Sasaki was attending a party
- 8:13Speaker 2: at her friend's house. She was having some drinks, hanging
- 8:16Speaker 2: out and most importantly, unloading some of that stress that
- 8:19Speaker 2: comes along with being a business owner and entrepreneur.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Okay, very important to do that more often.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I think it's important for everyone to relax in.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Some way shape r I know, but especially like being
- 8:29Speaker 3: a business owner. Sometimes it's just it's hard to not
- 8:32Speaker 3: be a workaholic.
- 8:34Speaker 2: That's true.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 2: So as the evening went on, the drinks kept coming,
- 8:39Speaker 2: and according to eyewitnesses who were at the party who
- 8:41Speaker 2: have friends and everything. She was a little bit too
- 8:44Speaker 2: drunk to drive. She definitely shouldn't have been driving home,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and she probably shouldn't be going home on her own.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Regardless of the situation, several people offered to drive her
- 8:53Speaker 2: home or a company or on the route home to
- 8:55Speaker 2: ensure she made it nice and safe, but for one
- 8:58Speaker 2: reason or another she refused. Dang, my thought is probably
- 9:02Speaker 2: a little bit of a pride thing, you know what,
- 9:03Speaker 2: No I got this like, she's an a restaurant owner,
- 9:06Speaker 2: she's an entrepreneur. She probably got a little bit of
- 9:08Speaker 2: pride and a little bit of a stubborn head to
- 9:10Speaker 2: her right.
- 9:10Speaker 3: So well, honestly that makes sense too. And honestly, terms,
- 9:13Speaker 3: if you haven't had a few too many drinks though,
- 9:16Speaker 3: you'd think you're still fine when you're not. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 3: I can make it home, like, yeah, don't worry about me.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So, for one reason or another, she did refuse the offers,
- 9:23Speaker 2: and she left the party, walking off into the night
- 9:25Speaker 2: by herself at about one am. This was the last
- 9:30Speaker 2: time she was ever seen a lot.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Dang saw that coming for sure.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So the following day, her body was found in some
- 9:38Speaker 2: woods only about a mile from her house. Shit A
- 9:41Speaker 2: couple was walking down the overgrown path when they came
- 9:44Speaker 2: across a huge stain of blood in the dirt in
- 9:46Speaker 2: front of them. Now, thinking someone may be hurt and
- 9:50Speaker 2: in need of assistance or help in some way, they
- 9:52Speaker 2: followed the trail of blood a short distance and just
- 9:55Speaker 2: up ahead of them her body was found. No, she
- 10:00Speaker 2: had been torn to pieces suits various parts of her
- 10:05Speaker 2: body was scattered around with organs and more strung up
- 10:09Speaker 2: hanging from branches of trees.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Are you fucking me?
- 10:12Speaker 2: That's what the story says.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Holy shit.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was not a pretty sight. It was
- 10:18Speaker 2: a brutal scene, especially for someone just kind of like
- 10:20Speaker 2: on a stroll in the woods.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, that's brutal and like, oh what she went through? Okay?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah, So after authorities were called and the investigation began,
- 10:31Speaker 2: they found a playing card, the Jack of Spades, with
- 10:35Speaker 2: the word Alice written in her blood, and the card
- 10:39Speaker 2: was found crammed into her mouth.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, Okay.
- 10:44Speaker 2: This was the only thing the killer left behind. No DNA,
- 10:49Speaker 2: no murder weapon, no footprints, no forensic evidence was ever
- 10:54Speaker 2: found from this case. Only the playing card.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Tell me this case is a solved one. You don't
- 11:00Speaker 3: have to, but please, for the love of God, let
- 11:03Speaker 3: it be solved.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I can't say that without giving away the twist at
- 11:07Speaker 2: the end.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Kat.
- 11:09Speaker 2: The second victim was a young man named Yamain Akioh
- 11:14Speaker 2: now Yumaine was the singer of a small time band
- 11:17Speaker 2: that had high hopes of making it to the top,
- 11:19Speaker 2: just like any young aspiring artist, right so, currently they
- 11:23Speaker 2: mostly played small local gigs like bars and parties, and
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yamaine's friends described him as a kind of soul who
- 11:30Speaker 2: may have had a loud voice while performing, but would
- 11:33Speaker 2: never really raise his voice off stage, right, so he
- 11:36Speaker 2: had his confidence when he was performing. One night in
- 11:40Speaker 2: February of two thousand and one, Yamaine went missing and
- 11:44Speaker 2: was last seen in his own department. His friends and
- 11:47Speaker 2: bandmates were the last ones to see him there. Now,
- 11:50Speaker 2: the investigation led authorities to look through security cameras that
- 11:54Speaker 2: was operating in the property. One of the cameras were
- 11:56Speaker 2: pointed towards his apartment entrance. On the footage, they saw
- 12:01Speaker 2: a man with a hood covering his face force his
- 12:04Speaker 2: way into the apartments. Then a few minutes later, the
- 12:08Speaker 2: individual is seen exiting the building. This time, however, he
- 12:13Speaker 2: is carrying a large white garbage bag and apparently there
- 12:17Speaker 2: is slight movements coming from inside the bag.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Holy, Okay, how can you just carry a body in
- 12:25Speaker 3: a garbage bag like that? Oat?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's questions around that for sure.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Well, and then it also seems like this person like
- 12:34Speaker 3: he's targeting someone and he knew them.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Well, you will definitely see if there is a there's
- 12:39Speaker 2: a correlation to targeting this individual here in a moment,
- 12:43Speaker 2: you'll see this. No matter how hard they looked into
- 12:46Speaker 2: the footage and asked around, no one is able to
- 12:48Speaker 2: identify the strange person, and Jamaine continued to remain missing.
- 12:54Speaker 2: A week into the investigation, police got a phone call
- 12:56Speaker 2: from a local bar where Yumaine and his band often play.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Inside the bar, the owner had found ya.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Mean passed away deceased.
- 13:08Speaker 2: He was found sitting at one of the tables with
- 13:10Speaker 2: his vocal cords ripped out, laying on the table in
- 13:13Speaker 2: front of him, and he had been shot in the head. Holy,
- 13:17Speaker 2: So this individual would have clearly known that this is
- 13:21Speaker 2: a place where he performed. Yeah, vocal cords clearly knows
- 13:24Speaker 2: he's a vocal artist. So clearly there is something there
- 13:30Speaker 2: now in his hands. Authorities found a playing card clasped
- 13:33Speaker 2: in his fingers, and the playing card was the King
- 13:36Speaker 2: of Diamonds, and on that card in his blood.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It said Alice.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Alice. After his death, the musician group broke up and
- 13:48Speaker 2: didn't want to replace their vocal artists, so they just
- 13:51Speaker 2: went their separate ways.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Oh that's really sad. This is I mean, not that,
- 13:55Speaker 3: I mean for both these victims. It's both of them.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Seemed like they just had so much promise ahead of them, right,
- 14:01Speaker 3: that just got completely taken away.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That's true. So the third victim was a teenage girl
- 14:11Speaker 2: named Kai Sakura. She was kind pretty well liked by
- 14:15Speaker 2: her classmates and she was reported missing by her parents
- 14:20Speaker 2: and her remains would be found two days after the
- 14:23Speaker 2: report was filed. She was buried and discovered in a
- 14:28Speaker 2: shallow grave that was marked with a stick stuck out
- 14:31Speaker 2: on the fresh dirt that was on top of where
- 14:33Speaker 2: she laid. Now, on top of the stick that was
- 14:35Speaker 2: stuck into the ground, there was a playing car.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Oh shit, Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
- 14:40Speaker 2: The Queen of Clubs was attached at the top with
- 14:43Speaker 2: the bloody name Alice once again written on it. When
- 14:47Speaker 2: she was exhumed, it was found that she was brutally mutilated.
- 14:52Speaker 2: She had suffered a horrible death, as her eyes had
- 14:55Speaker 2: been cut out and was skinned alive.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Wo oh seriously.
- 15:02Speaker 2: On her head a crown had been sewn into place,
- 15:07Speaker 2: and a note was left laying on top of her body. Now,
- 15:11Speaker 2: most of it was incoherent words and phrases, but a
- 15:13Speaker 2: few were eligible, and they read death is a distorted dream.
- 15:20Speaker 2: It will always rule, and the one who died is lucky.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Hm.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Who the fuck is doing this? Hey? Because these are
- 15:31Speaker 3: just like more than just kills, Like it's quite disturbing.
- 15:36Speaker 3: It's very disturbing what this person is doing to these people.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so where's your head at on this? Because, like
- 15:42Speaker 2: I said, remember, there is a major twist at the end,
- 15:44Speaker 2: and I don't think you're going to see it coming.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I know, I know, because like it doesn't really seem
- 15:49Speaker 3: like these people are connected and like he's a serial killer,
- 15:54Speaker 3: but they're also not very close together necessarily the murders,
- 16:00Speaker 3: because this was a span over like five years or
- 16:02Speaker 3: so when he did five right.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Correct, six years I believe, nineteen ninety ninety, two thousand
- 16:07Speaker 2: and five.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I have absolutely no idea what the twist could be like,
- 16:12Speaker 3: I have no idea. Is it that it was like
- 16:14Speaker 3: a police officer?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Uh?
- 16:17Speaker 2: No, definitely not.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Huh, I have no idea, no idea, Hey, Like, I mean,
- 16:26Speaker 3: I feel like I'm going to be like, oh I
- 16:28Speaker 3: should have known.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Well no, because it's so left field. Okay, So that
- 16:33Speaker 2: is the first three victims. The next two victims were
- 16:37Speaker 2: young Hayoto and hina Oshiro. On April fourth of two
- 16:41Speaker 2: thousand and five, the two young brothers oh my, found
- 16:45Speaker 2: laying in their beds sleeping brutal but the only problem
- 16:48Speaker 2: is their parents couldn't wake them up. It was found
- 16:54Speaker 2: that they died in the middle of the night and
- 16:58Speaker 2: they were subject to a lethal injection of an unknown substance.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Is a puncture wound was found on the back of
- 17:04Speaker 2: both of their hands.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Seriously, this see none of these I can't even see
- 17:11Speaker 3: connection to any of them. So I'm struggling here. And
- 17:15Speaker 3: their bodies were just looked pretty much the same, except
- 17:18Speaker 3: that they had this puncture wound and were injected with
- 17:22Speaker 3: a poison.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Correct now, of course, like there was a playing card
- 17:26Speaker 2: found of the scene too, though, Yeah, the Ace of
- 17:29Speaker 2: Spades with the same bloody name written on it was
- 17:32Speaker 2: ripped in half and each brother had clasped one half
- 17:35Speaker 2: half in their hands.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. Okay, those poor parents. This is a nightmare.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Well, arguably this there is. You could argue that there's
- 17:46Speaker 2: six victims because the trauma and loss of both their
- 17:49Speaker 2: children drove the mother to commit suice shortly later. Wow,
- 17:54Speaker 2: left the father alone now because.
- 17:57Speaker 3: That's these were their only two children.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Correct?
- 18:00Speaker 3: Holy shit?
- 18:02Speaker 2: It was haunted by the loss of his family and
- 18:04Speaker 2: was forced to seek psychological care, hence mental health problems
- 18:08Speaker 2: that followed.
- 18:09Speaker 3: That's too much for anyone.
- 18:12Speaker 2: So shortly after the death of the two brothers, police
- 18:16Speaker 2: managed to make their first arrest, The first and only arrest,
- 18:21Speaker 2: a homeless man by the name of Suzuko Utah who
- 18:26Speaker 2: had a history of mental health problems. And he stated
- 18:28Speaker 2: that he could not remember where he was during any
- 18:31Speaker 2: time of any of these murders. Okay, this, however, isn't
- 18:36Speaker 2: grounds for Suzuko to get arrested. Really, Oh, I don't
- 18:39Speaker 2: know where I was, right, and I've got some history
- 18:42Speaker 2: of mental health issues. It was found, however, that Suzuko
- 18:46Speaker 2: was wearing the jacket that belonged to one of the
- 18:49Speaker 2: individuals who was murdered. It was the jacket of the
- 18:52Speaker 2: aspiring musician yamay Akio. Now, further examination and tests that
- 18:57Speaker 2: were run on the jacket found that there were red specs,
- 19:01Speaker 2: and those red specs were Yemane's blood.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Okay, but I feel like it could have just been
- 19:07Speaker 3: left on the ground or could have ended up being
- 19:09Speaker 3: like less somewhere or donated or something like. I feel like.
- 19:12Speaker 2: That that's the problem. Suzuko swore he never stole the jacket,
- 19:17Speaker 2: he claimed, and I quote a demon man dressed in
- 19:22Speaker 2: black who had no face, oh, gave it to him.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, who had no face? What does that even mean?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Good question?
- 19:34Speaker 3: It sounds horrible. Yeah, Like I'm thinking he was just
- 19:39Speaker 3: wearing a mask or something. Maybe well it.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Could be that, or he couldn't have seen his face
- 19:43Speaker 2: or who knows what, or maybe he had some scarring
- 19:46Speaker 2: or I don't know, but that's that's a quote. A
- 19:50Speaker 2: demon man dressed in black who had no face gave
- 19:54Speaker 2: it to him.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Okay, And like he was probably giving that away in
- 20:00Speaker 3: for a reason, right, for a reason of just throwing
- 20:02Speaker 3: the place off.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Could be I mean, that's if that is the case,
- 20:06Speaker 2: that's a smart move, right, an individual taking something from
- 20:09Speaker 2: the scene, giving it to someone else, ensuring that they
- 20:12Speaker 2: can't see my face, they don't know who I am,
- 20:15Speaker 2: to throw them off, and being like they're now they
- 20:17Speaker 2: have a lead, they're gonna chase this guy.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's smart.
- 20:22Speaker 2: However, a homeless man might not be the best person,
- 20:27Speaker 2: because I mean, only luck would really tie fish or
- 20:30Speaker 2: authorities to them.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but who else would even necessarily want it? Right?
- 20:37Speaker 2: True? I mean maybe you should plant it somewhere in
- 20:39Speaker 2: someone's car.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Or something, I guess, But if I found a jacket
- 20:43Speaker 3: just planted in my car, I'd probably just be like,
- 20:45Speaker 3: what the frig and donate it.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Or throw in the garbage. I mean, authorities searching a
- 20:51Speaker 2: friend's car or something, and they don't even know it's there,
- 20:53Speaker 2: Like you know what I mean?
- 20:54Speaker 3: Okay, ye, yeah.
- 20:56Speaker 2: So that's my thought on if I were to throw
- 21:00Speaker 2: them off with false evidence, I would probably plant it
- 21:03Speaker 2: somewhere rather than just being like random homeless guy who
- 21:06Speaker 2: I hope they find it. Yeah, I'd put it somewhere.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Where I betterly was concerned that the homeless person was cold.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Maybe and I was just like, here, that's true. We
- 21:16Speaker 2: might have a very forgiving murder, murdering individual with no
- 21:21Speaker 2: face on our hands.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but he sounds like a plain monster. So I
- 21:24Speaker 3: can't think of him doing any good. But I'm just
- 21:26Speaker 3: like throwing it out there.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, at any rate, no claim on how he
- 21:31Speaker 2: obtained the jacket was ever able to be proven, whether
- 21:34Speaker 2: it be by officials or Suzuka himself. Okay, so police
- 21:39Speaker 2: had let him go. They didn't have anything on him
- 21:41Speaker 2: at this point. Even still, as it turns out, though,
- 21:44Speaker 2: many witnesses were able to confirm Suzuka's whereabouts, even if
- 21:50Speaker 2: he couldn't remember himself. Yeah. On one night, for example,
- 21:53Speaker 2: one of the murders, he was five miles away at
- 21:56Speaker 2: a shelter location.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Okay, so he seems like he's a clear.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he's kind of in the clear. Police have nothing
- 22:03Speaker 2: on him. It's just kind of like, how did he
- 22:04Speaker 2: end up with this jacket? It's kind of strange, right,
- 22:07Speaker 2: And his mental problems prevent him from really knowing where
- 22:11Speaker 2: he was or recalling any.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Information, which is sad for him.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Yeah. So he was the only suspect ever in the
- 22:20Speaker 2: case of the Alice killings, and the case remains a
- 22:23Speaker 2: mystery to this day, Oh you're serious.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I thought you were gonna be like in to.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Well, truthfully, here's the twist. You ready for this?
- 22:34Speaker 3: I'm ready? Yeah? I really want to know.
- 22:37Speaker 2: There are no such killings in Japan. There is no
- 22:41Speaker 2: such thing as the Alice killings. Huh, these never happened?
- 22:45Speaker 2: What or at least nothing where any records are there
- 22:49Speaker 2: to prove?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Really?
- 22:52Speaker 2: Really? Now, the problem is there is this story that exists.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I researched this story. Okay, yeah, now for a story
- 23:01Speaker 2: to not ever have happened. There is some extreme details
- 23:06Speaker 2: depicting this case.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it sounds like this legitly happened.
- 23:11Speaker 2: There are names, there are dates, there are locations, which
- 23:15Speaker 2: lead many people to ask questions, how come we know
- 23:18Speaker 2: so much? Is it just a completely fabricated story or
- 23:22Speaker 2: is there more to it behind it, such as like
- 23:25Speaker 2: a cover up? But there are no recorded cases of
- 23:29Speaker 2: these ever occurring in Japan?
- 23:34Speaker 3: Can my head hurts? This is confusing? This isn't This
- 23:37Speaker 3: is something I would have never guessed.
- 23:39Speaker 2: That's what I was telling you. It's a complete fucking twist.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no way I would have gotten that. Ever.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Ever, your face is fucking hilarious.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Well, I'm just like what I feel like I need
- 23:50Speaker 3: an advilmwds now to trying to figure this out.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Take a sip of tea.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Geez.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Okay, Well, whether or not this case is true or false,
- 24:00Speaker 2: the fact remains there is no evidence. I mean basically
- 24:05Speaker 2: what it says is there's as much evidence as this
- 24:07Speaker 2: case as there is the Lockness Monster. This as as
- 24:11Speaker 2: far as right now, it's just an urban legend.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Wow, a very very turban legend.
- 24:17Speaker 2: This is as if the Lockness Monster, we were able
- 24:20Speaker 2: to say how long it was, how much it weighed,
- 24:22Speaker 2: the color of its skin, color of its eyes, where
- 24:25Speaker 2: it lived, what it ate like. That's how comparatible this is.
- 24:30Speaker 3: So this doesn't make any sense.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Well, I mean this this is a bit of a
- 24:35Speaker 2: shorter episode today here, but before we do wrap this up,
- 24:38Speaker 2: we I do need to mention one more thing, okay,
- 24:41Speaker 2: a little bit more of another twist.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I don't know if I can take anymore.
- 24:47Speaker 2: There was a murderer in Spain who operated in two
- 24:50Speaker 2: thousand and three. He was convicted of killing six people
- 24:55Speaker 2: and left playing cards at his crime scene. His name
- 24:59Speaker 2: was Alfred or sorry Alfredo Galan, and he is known
- 25:04Speaker 2: as the Playing Card Killer. He has since been sentenced
- 25:07Speaker 2: to one hundred and forty two years in prison and
- 25:12Speaker 2: potentially is the inspiration for the Alice Killings and its story.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Hmm, but he the Alice Okay, So, like the story
- 25:24Speaker 3: came out after two thousand and three, basically.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I mean, I can't. I couldn't find anywhere that's said
- 25:34Speaker 2: when this story came out. However, the last Alice killing
- 25:39Speaker 2: was in two thousand and five, right, yeah, so potentially
- 25:42Speaker 2: this whole story did come out later.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Yeah, huh, Okay, It's very odd that there's so much detail.
- 25:51Speaker 3: It they sound it sounds believable that these events happened.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Doesn't it. So there is literally no clear indication if
- 25:59Speaker 2: it's true, whether that this case of the Playing Card
- 26:03Speaker 2: Killer from Spain actually inspired this. There is no clear
- 26:06Speaker 2: indication if this is real, false, just an urban legend,
- 26:10Speaker 2: or a fucking creepy pasta someone wrote up. All we
- 26:13Speaker 2: know is there are stories, consistent stories with consistent names
- 26:18Speaker 2: and details on these individuals, and it's called the Alice Killings.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Like even to the extent the one where the two
- 26:26Speaker 3: boys died and the mom ends up committing suicide and
- 26:30Speaker 3: the dad needs psychiatric help from what he went through. Like,
- 26:34Speaker 3: oh my gosh, yep, huh wow, Okay, I feel like
- 26:40Speaker 3: you just took us through the ringer here I did.
- 26:42Speaker 3: That's through the ringer. I don't know.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Wow, that's the case of the Alice killings. Like I
- 26:47Speaker 2: said bit shorter today. Yeah, but I think this is
- 26:49Speaker 2: a worthwhile story on discussing, and I kind of want
- 26:52Speaker 2: to discuss the idea of urban legends a little bit here,
- 26:54Speaker 2: just one on one, unscripted. I don't have any more
- 26:56Speaker 2: written down, so I kind of want to discuss urban
- 26:59Speaker 2: legends with you. One of the reasons why I wanted
- 27:01Speaker 2: to cover this a because when I first heard of
- 27:04Speaker 2: this story, I thought it was true. When I started
- 27:07Speaker 2: looking into it, that's when I only realized it's an
- 27:09Speaker 2: urban legend, okay. And Two, I want to present you
- 27:13Speaker 2: with this because you did guess the urban legends the
- 27:16Speaker 2: other day correctly, So I wanted to three for a
- 27:18Speaker 2: big loop and fuck you up.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Well, yeah, if you had put this one in there,
- 27:22Speaker 3: I would definitely have thought this was true.
- 27:24Speaker 2: I did think about it, yeah, if I'm being honest,
- 27:28Speaker 2: because I did discover this while I was researching a
- 27:31Speaker 2: bunch of cases to bring up for Halloween. So, but
- 27:34Speaker 2: one of the things I wanted to ask you is
- 27:36Speaker 2: if there's any urban legends that you know of off
- 27:41Speaker 2: the top of your head.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh, off the top of my head.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Yes, because I know like there's there's lots like there
- 27:48Speaker 2: is Lockness Monster, there is Bigfoot, for example, or Sasquatch.
- 27:52Speaker 2: We actually have one here in BC, the ogo pogram.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that. As you were chatting here, that came
- 27:57Speaker 3: to my mind.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so I kind of I don't know, do you
- 28:02Speaker 2: believe in the yoga pogo?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, there was this Okay, this was just
- 28:08Speaker 3: recently in the new Shit. I should have sent it
- 28:10Speaker 3: to you, but I think it was Okanagan Lake. And
- 28:12Speaker 3: did you see that photo?
- 28:13Speaker 2: I did see it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Yes, it almost looked like it was like a wolf
- 28:17Speaker 3: or something underwater, but it had horns or something.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Yes, So there is a new photo that was taken
- 28:23Speaker 2: this month. Yeah, in the Okanagan Lake that people are
- 28:27Speaker 2: saying is the yoga pogo. Yeah, there's like horns poking
- 28:30Speaker 2: up out of the top of the water.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It's super bizarre. And the face I can kind of
- 28:34Speaker 3: see it, I guess in a sense. But then where's
- 28:36Speaker 3: the rest of the thing's body.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Well, I think the idea is that it's like it's
- 28:39Speaker 2: neck is going down into the water.
- 28:41Speaker 3: And oh, oh my gosh. I mean I did zoom
- 28:43Speaker 3: into the photo and it was incredibly alarming. I could
- 28:47Speaker 3: hardly look at it. It was a bit much for me.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I think that photo is complete bullshit because to me,
- 28:53Speaker 2: those two individuals who took the photo, they're like twenty
- 28:56Speaker 2: feet away from it in the middle of the lake,
- 28:57Speaker 2: right yeah, and they're like the only capture one photo,
- 29:01Speaker 2: and then they just took off like fuck off.
- 29:03Speaker 3: And that's why I think that this thing, they would
- 29:06Speaker 3: have been able to see some more of the bottom. Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Well, the claim was that they were sitting there in
- 29:10Speaker 2: the lake, they saw this thing, they took a photo.
- 29:12Speaker 2: It wasn't moving, it looked like it was sleeping, so
- 29:14Speaker 2: they left because they thought it would be dangerous.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Well, I would probably fuck off. Would you really want
- 29:18Speaker 3: to investigate that?
- 29:20Speaker 2: If it's the fucking og pogo, I'm getting right up
- 29:23Speaker 2: to it. I'm gonna be poking it with a fucking
- 29:25Speaker 2: fishing net fishing pole.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Would you be going the water?
- 29:28Speaker 2: No? No, I would be like ready to drive away
- 29:31Speaker 2: in the boat, and I would be like getting close,
- 29:33Speaker 2: I'd be filming, I'd be getting all the evidence. I
- 29:35Speaker 2: could not just one si I photograph.
- 29:38Speaker 3: It does seem interesting.
- 29:40Speaker 2: The one single photograph makes me say, no, that's not
- 29:44Speaker 2: real because you had an opportunity to get so much
- 29:47Speaker 2: and you only took one photograph.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Because nowadays, I mean, it's so easy just to take
- 29:51Speaker 3: a million photos or a video on your phone.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I think it was like a piece of wood or
- 29:56Speaker 2: something floating in the water and they're like, hey, what
- 29:58Speaker 2: is that and took a picture and just happened to
- 30:00Speaker 2: catch an angle where it looks odd like it could
- 30:02Speaker 2: be the yoga pogo, And then they released it and
- 30:05Speaker 2: be like, yeah, we saw the yoga pogo, and they're
- 30:07Speaker 2: completely bullshitting. That's my thought, so fuck them. I think
- 30:10Speaker 2: it's false.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know, but yeah, other than that,
- 30:13Speaker 3: off the top of my head, I don't feel like
- 30:15Speaker 3: I can really think of any other urban legends.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Well, I do want to kind of point with this
- 30:19Speaker 2: Alice killings and just like this photo, isn't it bizarre
- 30:24Speaker 2: how something can go viral like this without any concrete evidence?
- 30:29Speaker 2: And our imaginations can take us and we'll just fucking
- 30:32Speaker 2: believe it. Like we'll just believe it. Like I said,
- 30:35Speaker 2: these individuals one photograph and it hit like nationwide news.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah it was. It was all over into the.
- 30:42Speaker 2: News because it it looks odd. Yeah, that's it, like.
- 30:46Speaker 1: What I know.
- 30:48Speaker 3: But I also feel like with today's technology, someone should
- 30:50Speaker 3: have been able to zoom in enough or figure it out.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Well, there is a theory someone had that it might
- 30:56Speaker 2: be like a bird underwater or something like that. I
- 30:58Speaker 2: don't know. Again, I also will call bullshit because they
- 31:01Speaker 2: would have known that the bird would be swimming, would
- 31:03Speaker 2: have disappeared, would have popped up.
- 31:04Speaker 3: But yeah, I have no idea. I love swimming in
- 31:07Speaker 3: that lake.
- 31:08Speaker 2: It's a nice light.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 2: But yeah, the fact that these things can go so
- 31:12Speaker 2: viral catch your imagination without an ounce or shred of
- 31:17Speaker 2: any sort of evidence blows my mind, and people will
- 31:20Speaker 2: just believe it and they will wholeheartedly go into it
- 31:25Speaker 2: and accept it as fact. Yep. It's crazy.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Yeah, like crazy, well, especially too the amount of details
- 31:33Speaker 3: and stuff like, especially in this case that you had
- 31:36Speaker 3: that it just does seem believable. I mean, if you
- 31:39Speaker 3: were just like yeah, there's like this these five murders
- 31:42Speaker 3: and like this calling card and stuff like I'd probably
- 31:45Speaker 3: believe you. But it's like the more details, the more believable,
- 31:49Speaker 3: right too, But it doesn't take much to create demails else, No,
- 31:53Speaker 3: it doesn't.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Like there's a story of Simon Jansen, whereas I think
- 31:57Speaker 2: it was somewhere in the Eastern States. He was off
- 32:01Speaker 2: on a carnival with a bunch of friends after a
- 32:03Speaker 2: high school like dance thing. It was in the evening.
- 32:05Speaker 2: They ditched the dance and went off to this carnival.
- 32:08Speaker 2: There was three friends they went off. I think they
- 32:10Speaker 2: were going to the carnival. It was on the way
- 32:13Speaker 2: there they ended up getting hit by a vehicle and
- 32:16Speaker 2: it was a hit and run. Two of the guys died,
- 32:18Speaker 2: but the one kid was able to actually identify the vehicle.
- 32:21Speaker 2: He remembered three of license plate numbers. I made all
- 32:24Speaker 2: this up on the fly. None of that happened, Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 2: and I just listed some details.
- 32:30Speaker 3: I mean, people are good storytellers nowadays too, right, right,
- 32:33Speaker 3: But like that.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Just shows all you need is to just write a story.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that you were doing it. You were
- 32:39Speaker 3: going to just you're creating it. Not creating another urban legend,
- 32:42Speaker 3: but like just recounting one, Well, it.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Just made up. I was just making it up, and
- 32:49Speaker 2: that's all it takes. So when you guys are looking
- 32:53Speaker 2: at tails, when you are listening to stories, question these things.
- 32:57Speaker 2: That's part of what we do here with a lot
- 32:59Speaker 2: of the research is really trying to define the truth.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah, because there is even with real life cases and
- 33:05Speaker 3: cases that happened, there's a lot of misinformation out there too.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's easy to get misinformation. I'm not saying
- 33:13Speaker 2: that we're perfect either, Oh.
- 33:14Speaker 3: No, I'm sure we've mess some things up definitely.
- 33:17Speaker 2: So Yeah, anyways, I just want to have the little
- 33:20Speaker 2: urban legend chat at the end there.
- 33:21Speaker 3: M hm.
- 33:22Speaker 2: So let us know if you guys have a favorite
- 33:24Speaker 2: urban legend, what you think of this, if you think
- 33:26Speaker 2: these alice killings could potentially be true, because like I said,
- 33:29Speaker 2: there's not a shred of evidence to say it is
- 33:31Speaker 2: unless you connect it to the one in Spain.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Hmm, that's crazy. Wow, you just blew our minds. Thanks
- 33:39Speaker 3: for that.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, I want to have a little bit of
- 33:41Speaker 2: fun with that one, so, oh my gosh. Yeah, don't
- 33:45Speaker 2: forget about a little pumpkin carving contest. Yeah, we got
- 33:48Speaker 2: that over on Instagram. I want to give them the
- 33:49Speaker 2: breakdown on it real quick on what they have to
- 33:52Speaker 2: do again.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's honestly super simple and it's probably something you're
- 33:55Speaker 3: already doing. So any pumpkin that you've carved, snap a
- 33:59Speaker 3: foe it, put it on your story tag us, and
- 34:03Speaker 3: you're entered into a draw to win a jackal blanket,
- 34:06Speaker 3: which is pretty dang cool.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you can snuggle up with it and give it
- 34:09Speaker 2: to your dog, take a camping, put it on your bed,
- 34:12Speaker 2: you couch for those movie nights when you're watching those
- 34:14Speaker 2: epic horror movies. Perfect.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's awesome. And we'll also post about this too,
- 34:19Speaker 3: because yeah we're gonna do the draw. We're all going
- 34:21Speaker 3: live on Halloween night and yeah, we'll do the draw at.
- 34:25Speaker 2: That time exactly. Until then, we've got a lot of
- 34:28Speaker 2: socials on our description. You can go ahead check all
- 34:31Speaker 2: those out Instagram, so you can go join that contest Facebook,
