- 1:53Speaker 3: we're not here to talk about commentaries. We're not here
- 1:56Speaker 3: for a staff picks. We actually have good people joining
- 2:01Speaker 3: us for a great discussion about movies, and I'm stoked
- 2:04Speaker 3: on that. Man, this is very exciting, very very excited
- 2:09Speaker 3: one of our guests our podcast should be very well
- 2:13Speaker 3: accustomed to. We're joined by where Ian Verel Disconnected and
- 2:16Speaker 3: Antenna releasing. Welcome back, man, Hi, thank you, thank you,
- 2:22Speaker 3: it's been it's been a while. We appreciate you, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 3: coming back onto the show that you put on your network,
- 2:28Speaker 3: that you endorse. Thank you, thank you all the time.
- 2:33Speaker 3: But we also have another guest with us. This is
- 2:36Speaker 3: first time coming onto the show. We are joined by
- 2:39Speaker 3: Craig Rogers. He is the co founder and restoration expert
- 2:43Speaker 3: over at Deaf Crocodile. Craig, how are you today?
- 2:46Speaker 4: I'm excellent, How you fantastic?
- 2:50Speaker 3: Thank you so much for coming on and doing this.
- 2:52Speaker 3: This was This was such an off the cuff thing
- 2:56Speaker 3: because honestly, the kind of the main idea, the main
- 2:59Speaker 3: thing we're going to talk about here, seems so sudden,
- 3:03Speaker 3: Like I felt like this came out of nowhere, and
- 3:05Speaker 3: it was I was kind of blind. Not that I
- 3:08Speaker 3: expect to have like an inn on these things. I don't,
- 3:11Speaker 3: but typically there is a little bit of a you know,
- 3:13Speaker 3: teasing and build up to certain things.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I was shocked.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I was very shocked.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I mean, three days before we posted our newsletter, we
- 3:24Speaker 4: had a big, big, big news story dropping, so you
- 3:27Speaker 4: had three days notice.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Yeah you're right, Yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right. We
- 3:31Speaker 6: didn't say at all what it was yeah, a little
- 3:34Speaker 6: bit of a heads up. But listen, we all know
- 3:37Speaker 6: Ryan around here. We know he just needed more to do.
- 3:41Speaker 6: He's not busy enough. He doesn't have enough going on.
- 3:44Speaker 3: This man never sleeps.
- 3:47Speaker 5: I need to sleep.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And uh, this is that you guys have officially announced
- 3:54Speaker 3: a retail center part one third retail center, one third
- 4:01Speaker 3: fulfillment center, one third microcinema called Adventures and Analog. This
- 4:06Speaker 3: is going to be in Lee's Summit, Missouri. I'm so
- 4:10Speaker 3: stoked for this and I'm incredibly excited. I feel like
- 4:14Speaker 3: this is something I was already surprised Ryan when I
- 4:18Speaker 3: met you. You weren't doing already, Like this is very
- 4:24Speaker 3: late for you. I'm happy it's finally going.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Sorry I'm lazy.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Did it feel good to finally get this out into
- 4:35Speaker 3: the world, to get this off your chest?
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yeah? I mean there's lots of people I've been wanting
- 4:39Speaker 5: to tell for the last ninety two, one hundred and
- 4:41Speaker 5: twenty days that we've been working on things behind the
- 4:43Speaker 5: scenes and finalizing plans. But the reality and I'm sure
- 4:46Speaker 5: we're gonna get to some of the story behind it,
- 4:48Speaker 5: but a lot of this was sudden in multiple ways.
- 4:52Speaker 5: It was kind of born out of necessity, and also
- 4:55Speaker 5: just general excitement and realization about real estate in the
- 5:00Speaker 5: Midwest compared to Los Angeles. But yeah, it's it's a
- 5:04Speaker 5: really unique opportunity, and I know that for a lot
- 5:06Speaker 5: of people it really just looks like, Hey, a store
- 5:10Speaker 5: that I probably don't live close to, and that's cool
- 5:12Speaker 5: for those people, But no big deal. The reality is
- 5:15Speaker 5: I hope that through this conversation and through all the
- 5:18Speaker 5: conversations that we have in the near future, the story
- 5:21Speaker 5: truly here is the up and coming necessity and drawing
- 5:25Speaker 5: back towards physical media in a way that you and
- 5:27Speaker 5: I have preached for years. All four of us have
- 5:31Speaker 5: been on this train for a long time, and it's
- 5:34Speaker 5: really a sign of hope in an industry that has
- 5:38Speaker 5: been told that it is failing and falling for literally
- 5:41Speaker 5: the last twenty years.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah, Greig, what was it like for you to finally
- 5:47Speaker 3: announce this? I know, you know you and Dennis obviously
- 5:50Speaker 3: must have been excited to get it out. Was this
- 5:53Speaker 3: something that you were incredibly excited to let people in on.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I mean, I know this is a big step for
- 5:58Speaker 3: Deaf Crocodile going into a full on fulfillment center as well.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Well, it was it was super exciting, you know, once
- 6:06Speaker 4: it seemed more real because honestly, at first, like like
- 6:11Speaker 4: Ryan was saying, at first, we weren't looking to open
- 6:15Speaker 4: a retail location or a microcinema. We just needed to
- 6:21Speaker 4: get our arms around full shipping and fulfillment because we've
- 6:27Speaker 4: just had so many issues in the past like six
- 6:33Speaker 4: months to a year, and we kind of finally realized like,
- 6:38Speaker 4: all right, I think we just need to take this
- 6:41Speaker 4: in house and do it ourselves. And so we were
- 6:46Speaker 4: looking for basically a warehouse that we could just pack
- 6:50Speaker 4: and ship out of. We were looking in southern California
- 6:54Speaker 4: near me uh up by you know, Santa Cruz area,
- 6:57Speaker 4: by Dennis. And then we were also looking because because
- 7:01Speaker 4: Ryan and his wife have actually taken over packing and
- 7:07Speaker 4: shipping for us for a couple of months now, we're like, well,
- 7:12Speaker 4: we could look out there as well, because there were
- 7:15Speaker 4: some advantages to that. Beyond the the real estate is cheaper,
- 7:20Speaker 4: it would also mean not having to pack up and
- 7:24Speaker 4: ship our entire inventory again, which we had never actually
- 7:32Speaker 4: seen it before. You know, it was everything was shipping
- 7:35Speaker 4: out of New Jersey and then it was shipping out
- 7:37Speaker 4: of Illinois, you know, we'd never seen it, you know,
- 7:40Speaker 4: in person. So when when I flew out there and
- 7:44Speaker 4: we had to pack everything up and we literally brought
- 7:46Speaker 4: it to like Ryan's house, I think everyone involved was
- 7:52Speaker 4: kind of like, holy shit, this is a lot of stuff.
- 7:57Speaker 3: And Ryan was like, holy shit, this is a lot
- 7:59Speaker 3: of stuff.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Bring in my house.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah right.
- 8:02Speaker 5: It fills my garage, my sub basement, and my children's playroom.
- 8:06Speaker 5: And I'm not exaggerating.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And when he describes children's playroom for anyone that doesn't
- 8:12Speaker 4: live in the Midwest and as like ten thousand square
- 8:14Speaker 4: foot house, when he kept saying, I can work do
- 8:18Speaker 4: this out of the playroom. Playroom, in my mind is
- 8:22Speaker 4: a maybe at best ten x twelve small room. He
- 8:29Speaker 4: sent me pictures. I'm like, no, it's like forty feet
- 8:32Speaker 4: long and like twenty feet wide, and I was like,
- 8:35Speaker 4: that's not a playroom, that's an indoor arena. But yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 4: we filled that up quickly. So yeah, it was we
- 8:49Speaker 4: were like, Okay, this is a lot. So then then
- 8:56Speaker 4: it became more urgent that we need to find a
- 8:59Speaker 4: warehouse because we can't just take over Ryan's entire house.
- 9:02Speaker 4: This is absurd. So we really started looking like we
- 9:06Speaker 4: need to buye a place. And then Ryan suggested, He's like, well,
- 9:11Speaker 4: real estate's cheaper out here. Why don't we find a
- 9:15Speaker 4: larger retail space and just use part of it for
- 9:18Speaker 4: fulfillment and part of it to have a store.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Like my kids are begging for their playroom back right.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Then, and then the store aspect of it, it doesn't
- 9:30Speaker 4: have to be I mean, it'll be fantastic if and
- 9:33Speaker 4: when it's making lots of money, but it doesn't have
- 9:37Speaker 4: to like if it literally just covers the rent that's
- 9:41Speaker 4: covering the rent for the warehouse that we were looking for.
- 9:44Speaker 4: So it just kind of made sense really, so we
- 9:47Speaker 4: started looking. When I was out there, I ended up
- 9:50Speaker 4: extending my stay for about three extra days. I kept
- 9:55Speaker 4: every day. I was like, hey, can I stand out
- 9:57Speaker 4: of the day because I was I was staying with Ryan.
- 10:00Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, sure, And it was fucking great. Like
- 10:05Speaker 4: in the morning, his son would see me, He's like,
- 10:08Speaker 4: why are you still here?
- 10:11Speaker 5: Damn?
- 10:15Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I'm like, yeah, sorry, We're a lot more
- 10:18Speaker 4: to do than we thought. But it was it was
- 10:21Speaker 4: a lot of fun. And so yeah, Ryan and I
- 10:23Speaker 4: just went looking at tons of places and then this
- 10:27Speaker 4: one place kind of almost seemed too good to be
- 10:30Speaker 4: true just the way it's laid out. It's already laid
- 10:33Speaker 4: out as two separate because it's in like a big
- 10:37Speaker 4: shopping mall complex, and it's already two separate units of
- 10:43Speaker 4: the of the mall, so it's already kind of split
- 10:46Speaker 4: in two. So we're like, oh, this is kind of perfect.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Is that the actual building in the photo?
- 10:53Speaker 5: You get? Yeah?
- 10:55Speaker 4: Yeah, so that that picture in the in the photo
- 10:57Speaker 4: is is the would be where the retail side will be.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And then that wall on the left, like behind that
- 11:05Speaker 4: wall will be the warehouse side. There's a lot of work.
- 11:12Speaker 4: That photo doesn't really give you an idea of how
- 11:15Speaker 4: much is going to be needed to get it ready.
- 11:20Speaker 4: But yeah, we're super excited. And and I'm sure nobody
- 11:25Speaker 4: listening follows my personal Facebook page, but I post I
- 11:31Speaker 4: pushed it on there a short little story that I
- 11:35Speaker 4: have wanted to own a store, like a retail store
- 11:38Speaker 4: literally since like Junior High. And so I'm so excited
- 11:45Speaker 4: that we're actually opening a store. It sucks it's two
- 11:50Speaker 4: thousand miles away from me. Yeah, so but I'm still
- 11:56Speaker 4: I'm still super excited. Ryan's super excited.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Did we have.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Brand plans for it to just be a fun space
- 12:06Speaker 4: for people to to come so we get more beyond
- 12:11Speaker 4: just like, oh it's the store I go and buy
- 12:13Speaker 4: a movie at, or rets a movie at. Like you know,
- 12:16Speaker 4: we're gonna show movies there and we'll have swap meet
- 12:19Speaker 4: days there and like there'll be it'll be a community
- 12:24Speaker 4: center for physical media nerds.
- 12:28Speaker 5: So exciting.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Ryan. I want you to remember that I have a
- 12:32Speaker 3: nearly twenty years retail experience. I've been running retail established
- 12:36Speaker 3: into my whole adult life. If you need a all right,
- 12:38Speaker 3: So anyway, let me get to the point here.
- 12:40Speaker 5: If you want to make a lot less money, you
- 12:42Speaker 5: can come out and relocate.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I'm sure my wife will love that. Honey. I'm gonna
- 12:48Speaker 3: take a big pay cut and move us to the Midwest,
- 12:51Speaker 3: and then we're gonna work at it. I'm gonna work
- 12:53Speaker 3: at a store.
- 12:54Speaker 4: About that.
- 12:55Speaker 5: I mean not to get schmalty for a moment, but
- 12:57Speaker 5: as somebody that literally quit his day job just three
- 13:00Speaker 5: and a half months ago, it's worth it. Like now, yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 5: I may I make less than no money and it
- 13:06Speaker 5: is still super worth it right now? Yeah?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yeah, Well I worked at Imax for over a decade,
- 13:13Speaker 4: and I after eleven years, I left and I started
- 13:18Speaker 4: just my own little restoration company. That led to The Delicious,
- 13:23Speaker 4: that led to Our Blows, that led to Deaf Crocodile
- 13:26Speaker 4: And now, god, that's fifteen years later since I left Imax.
- 13:32Speaker 4: I camp hard to fathom. It's been fifteen years. But
- 13:36Speaker 4: I'm still making less than half that I than I
- 13:38Speaker 4: did when I worked at Imax, and I am a
- 13:40Speaker 4: thousand times happier.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Man.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah, well we have so someday, you know, we start
- 13:49Speaker 4: actually making some money, then you can't ask for anything else.
- 13:55Speaker 4: That's the last step. Yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah, well we all have. I mean, unfortunately, I don't
- 14:00Speaker 3: really have like a place around me to go and
- 14:04Speaker 3: buy physical media from. I know, Steve, you live near
- 14:07Speaker 3: Static Tape.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Right nearest is putting it mildly. It's about close to
- 14:14Speaker 7: three hours away from from where I'm at, But every
- 14:16Speaker 7: now and again I'll make the truck out there. It's
- 14:18Speaker 7: on the west side of the state.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Okay, so you're it's the same drive as like for
- 14:22Speaker 3: me to the archive. Yeah, yep, three hours. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:26Speaker 3: we don't really have We do have a little store opening,
- 14:30Speaker 3: so I'm right outside of Philadelphia. There was a little
- 14:34Speaker 3: store opening called the Little Movie Store, which is kind
- 14:37Speaker 3: of like a traditional almost like a rental store, and
- 14:41Speaker 3: they're going to sell some stuff as well, and they're
- 14:43Speaker 3: really trying to bring back this community. I actually just
- 14:46Speaker 3: donated I think like two hundred and thirty discs to them,
- 14:51Speaker 3: like I just had. I had bags of social media
- 14:54Speaker 3: to give them. I was like, I was like, I'm
- 14:55Speaker 3: not doing anything else with the you know these older
- 14:57Speaker 3: titles like please take these and what they're doing over
- 15:01Speaker 3: there is incredible. I can't wait for them to be
- 15:02Speaker 3: opening and get out there and support them. But this
- 15:05Speaker 3: is something that I've told my wife about endless times
- 15:10Speaker 3: that I wish I could take to step into. I
- 15:14Speaker 3: even went as far as like I have a name
- 15:16Speaker 3: and a logo for like a place I would start.
- 15:18Speaker 3: That's how much thought I have invested into this daydream.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But to see it come to life for you guys,
- 15:25Speaker 3: and I can't think of better people for it to
- 15:31Speaker 3: happen to, like especially you, Ryan. I've been friends with
- 15:34Speaker 3: you for years. You know you've done nothing but support
- 15:37Speaker 3: everything that we do. You've done nothing but support so
- 15:40Speaker 3: many people in this space. I can't think of a
- 15:43Speaker 3: person that I would trust more, you know, having a
- 15:47Speaker 3: place like this, and aside from it being retail, there's
- 15:51Speaker 3: also going to be a microcinema inside here. With how
- 15:56Speaker 3: many seats are you looking to have? How many?
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so we we are. We are hoping to be
- 16:02Speaker 5: able to fit max of about thirty. I'm thinking we're
- 16:07Speaker 5: likely going to end up closer around twenty five, so
- 16:09Speaker 5: where people are not linking elbows while they watch a film.
- 16:13Speaker 5: But theoretically, I think there are a couple of ways
- 16:16Speaker 5: that we can fit thirty, especially if you count like
- 16:18Speaker 5: the employees being in there with it. But I I
- 16:22Speaker 5: wouldn't be surprised if, you know, if we felt really
- 16:26Speaker 5: comfortable at like twenty three, and that would be totally fine.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I'm always down to sup on Steve's lap if.
- 16:34Speaker 7: I was gonna say, save two seats for us, but
- 16:37Speaker 7: I guess we only need one.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Save save a single seat, Steve. And you know, now
- 16:46Speaker 3: we're even if the theater is only half full, we'll
- 16:49Speaker 3: still only take one seat.
- 16:51Speaker 4: You know. Yeah, that's and we've we've been asked pretty
- 16:55Speaker 4: consistently for the last like five years since we did it,
- 16:59Speaker 4: but we restored did the four K HDR restoration of
- 17:04Speaker 4: Assaults on Precinct thirteen, which still hasn't come out on
- 17:08Speaker 4: disc because it's it's not we don't have the rights
- 17:11Speaker 4: to that. We just did the restoration. But we did
- 17:15Speaker 4: work out a deal with the producer of the film
- 17:19Speaker 4: to screen the new four K restoration at the Microcinema. Oh,
- 17:24Speaker 4: which is one of the one of the perks and
- 17:26Speaker 4: the Kickstarters, to have your own little private Assault on
- 17:31Speaker 4: Precinct thirteen screening.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Of a four K restoration that very few people have seen.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Almost no one has seen, so so the I would
- 17:42Speaker 4: suggest that, you know, some folks just gather together and
- 17:45Speaker 4: pool their money for that that gift. Yeah, I know.
- 17:49Speaker 3: There was a point where I was going through the
- 17:52Speaker 3: Kickstarter perks on day one, just going through and kind
- 17:55Speaker 3: of seeing what was on there, and I was like,
- 17:56Speaker 3: I wonder if Steve and I can you know, muster
- 17:59Speaker 3: up a fifty grand to get to beyond the blood
- 18:02Speaker 3: logo in the micro Cinema.
- 18:03Speaker 5: You know, it's not it's literally only ten grand, like we're.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Gonna buy all five spaces we want to buy all
- 18:11Speaker 3: Oh God, I gotta got it, Like we just want
- 18:14Speaker 3: one when you walk in. It's just just us, not
- 18:17Speaker 3: even any.
- 18:17Speaker 5: I'm gonna be honest. That's a pretty rad idea.
- 18:20Speaker 4: I'm here for it.
- 18:22Speaker 5: It's also a pretty sick name anyway, so it works.
- 18:25Speaker 4: It is.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the Beyond the Blood Cinema. Oh see now now.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Now he needs an investor.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Well.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Another part of this announcement that caught my attention was
- 18:37Speaker 3: that the fulfillment center is also going to be the
- 18:41Speaker 3: fulfillment area for Antenna releasing physical media releases. Yes, sir, yep,
- 18:48Speaker 3: I can't wait to see.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I know.
- 18:50Speaker 3: There was a picture of some Blu ray cases with
- 18:52Speaker 3: some Antenna's.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Fine, you're very excited about that, zooming in trying to
- 18:56Speaker 4: see title.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I didn't go that. I was just like, what, there's
- 19:01Speaker 3: no slip covers on these, Ryan.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Oh, I couldn't tell from the picture. Those are all
- 19:07Speaker 4: steel books.
- 19:09Speaker 5: Oh god, Chris, worst nightmare I feel. I just felt
- 19:12Speaker 5: like my teeth grow hair.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Oh there's an image, Oh my god.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Yeah, So that was that was very exciting.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Man.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I think you and I talked way back when you
- 19:25Speaker 3: first announced Antenna about when you were going to do
- 19:28Speaker 3: physical releases, and you had some ideas for you know,
- 19:30Speaker 3: how exactly when to do them. So I guess they're
- 19:32Speaker 3: on the horizon. They should be coming pretty soon.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Yeah, you're gonna get your first announcement on that. Within
- 19:38Speaker 5: the plan right now is within ninety days from the
- 19:41Speaker 5: moment that we are recording this, you will hear and
- 19:43Speaker 5: be able to purchase two different spines of antenna releases.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Day one. That's it. You hear me Beyond the Blood,
- 19:51Speaker 3: Day one is on these releases. I'm excited to see
- 19:54Speaker 3: what you do with them. I'm just curious to see
- 19:56Speaker 3: you know. I know you. I know you're gonna pull
- 19:58Speaker 3: out all the stops. I know you're going to do
- 19:59Speaker 3: the best that you can. And as somebody who you
- 20:02Speaker 3: know preaches that the disc is the most important part,
- 20:04Speaker 3: I also do love the good extras that come with it. Inequality,
- 20:08Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I can't fallow anybody for
- 20:10Speaker 3: liking that part of it.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Well, to tease a lot on here, which I don't
- 20:16Speaker 5: really want to make anybody hear this and go, oh,
- 20:18Speaker 5: I'm gonna go listen to like one hundred and eighty
- 20:20Speaker 5: four hours or whatever. But it's been really fun this
- 20:23Speaker 5: whole last year on my show to highlight specific things
- 20:27Speaker 5: that I love about releases and know that on my
- 20:30Speaker 5: first handful of releases, I'm emulating some of those things.
- 20:34Speaker 5: So all I will specifically call out, like, oh, I
- 20:37Speaker 5: really love when labels do this knowing that that's already
- 20:39Speaker 5: in the works for the first disc or knowing that
- 20:41Speaker 5: I've already completed that and people are going to be
- 20:43Speaker 5: able to see something that I've worked on for a
- 20:45Speaker 5: long time coming out. And so yeah, there's been at
- 20:48Speaker 5: least three different things that I've really hammered home on
- 20:51Speaker 5: my show that is happening before the end of this
- 20:53Speaker 5: year on a release, and I hope people are excited.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, people just.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Go full Dennis and just tell everybody what's coming up.
- 21:04Speaker 5: I am so proud. Nobody that hasn't worked on the
- 21:07Speaker 5: release has been told what the first title is. I
- 21:10Speaker 5: don't think at all, which is kind of incredible.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Yeah, we talk a lot. I don't think I know
- 21:16Speaker 4: what you got coming out. Nope, Dick.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Shots fired.
- 21:23Speaker 5: But you have been You're one of only like five
- 21:25Speaker 5: people that have seen an incredible poster that we have done.
- 21:30Speaker 4: But wow, like, yeah, it's jaw dropping.
- 21:34Speaker 3: At this point. I mean, I just expect to get
- 21:36Speaker 3: all of the new information on the Reconnected show. You
- 21:39Speaker 3: know what I mean, that's it. It's just I just
- 21:41Speaker 3: count on that as my news, my Ryan personal news
- 21:44Speaker 3: outlet at this point, unless it comes into the discord
- 21:47Speaker 3: then you know. I told my wife the day you
- 21:52Speaker 3: announced this, I was like, I have to. I'm gonna
- 21:54Speaker 3: have to fly out literally the grand opening, Like I
- 21:57Speaker 3: have no it's I don't think Missouri is that far.
- 22:00Speaker 3: It's less than a flight to Florida. So I'm gonna
- 22:03Speaker 3: have to. I'm gonna have to come out, man, Like Steve,
- 22:05Speaker 3: You're gonna have to, Dude, you You're gonna have to
- 22:07Speaker 3: come out. Man, I'm down.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Well, if you want to bring the wife. We we
- 22:13Speaker 5: added a perk onto the Kickstarter and now you can
- 22:16Speaker 5: get a full VIP trip to Kansas City for the
- 22:18Speaker 5: grand opening. Flights to two to Kansas City, laid up
- 22:21Speaker 5: in a luxurious hotel here in the Kansas City metro area,
- 22:25Speaker 5: and a big fancy dinner with the founders of the store.
- 22:28Speaker 5: So that's saying at your house, well you are, it's
- 22:33Speaker 5: a it's for two. So Chris and the wife get
- 22:35Speaker 5: to fly and have the luxury stay. You get, You
- 22:37Speaker 5: get the like you get to sleep in the closet. Yeah, mans, right.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Now for me came I thought when we showed up
- 22:49Speaker 3: we already got dinner and this day at Ryan's, I
- 22:52Speaker 3: didn't know we had to we had to purchase a
- 22:54Speaker 3: Kickstarter again.
- 22:55Speaker 5: I'm selling, I don't know.
- 22:56Speaker 4: There's two different tiers. There's the Ryan's couch and cold pizza.
- 23:02Speaker 4: There's the luxury hotel in a fancy dinner.
- 23:06Speaker 7: The couch and cold pizza.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Although I have to say, you know, as as nice
- 23:13Speaker 4: as the hotel is, you don't get that that big
- 23:17Speaker 4: wonderful dog that you have to hang out with it.
- 23:19Speaker 5: That's true.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Sweet man.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Man, How did you guys come up with the name?
- 23:30Speaker 5: Why? Why don't you share a process? There, Craig.
- 23:34Speaker 4: We all wrote down like at least like ten to
- 23:38Speaker 4: fifteen names we liked, and then we went through and
- 23:41Speaker 4: everyone looked through everyone's lists and picked at least five
- 23:47Speaker 4: that they all liked from all the lists. And at
- 23:52Speaker 4: that stage we realized we were screwed because not a
- 23:55Speaker 4: single name was on everyone's list. So then we were like, okay, well,
- 24:05Speaker 4: what are you know.
- 24:08Speaker 7: We need?
- 24:08Speaker 4: We need we need to have something that we can
- 24:10Speaker 4: all agree on, and we were We thought we had
- 24:14Speaker 4: a name. We were like, all right, what's none of us?
- 24:18Speaker 4: It was none of our own picks. But we were
- 24:22Speaker 4: all like, yeah, we could use that. But nobody was
- 24:27Speaker 4: like yeah, like really excited about it.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 4: We were like we were kind of like, I can't remember.
- 24:36Speaker 4: There was something that we needed to do that we
- 24:38Speaker 4: needed the name for. And it was like, so, Ryan,
- 24:41Speaker 4: like we need to fill this out. It needs a name,
- 24:46Speaker 4: and you were like, I don't want to use that name.
- 24:51Speaker 5: I finally spoke up a little more.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Yeah, So, so how did I even forgot? It was
- 24:56Speaker 4: just kind of like you and I were talking about something.
- 24:58Speaker 4: We were like, hey, let's use that.
- 25:00Speaker 5: So oddly enough, God, this is a funny story to
- 25:06Speaker 5: tell in here. So we were in a meeting with
- 25:08Speaker 5: the director Mark Pillington, who directed Arlington Road and Mothmann Prophecies,
- 25:12Speaker 5: and he, I don't know. It's running a distribution company
- 25:17Speaker 5: where you're releasing modern movies. Is weird? My life has changed.
- 25:20Speaker 5: I'm sorry, Chris, that's weird. So we're sitting there and
- 25:22Speaker 5: we're trying to name this immersive experience for a documentary
- 25:26Speaker 5: that we're releasing of his called This is Buzz, and
- 25:29Speaker 5: it's this weird, like it's it's basically a three hundred
- 25:34Speaker 5: and sixty degree experience where you're standing around with pop
- 25:37Speaker 5: culture like pumped into your brain veins through this entire
- 25:41Speaker 5: like three hour experience. And Mark says, you know, I
- 25:45Speaker 5: just I don't love the digital aspect of everything. I
- 25:47Speaker 5: just wanted to be like analog ecstasy. We should call
- 25:50Speaker 5: it analog ecstasy, and so we are, and I'm like,
- 25:51Speaker 5: that's pretty cool. It also sounds like the name of
- 25:53Speaker 5: like an adult video store. And he went, wait a minute,
- 25:55Speaker 5: adult video store. What did he just name something like
- 25:58Speaker 5: like that. Yeah, let's lean into it. And so just
- 26:00Speaker 5: it just worked. Adventures and Analog came out, and uh,
- 26:03Speaker 5: here we are. Lots of uh lots of imagery comes
- 26:06Speaker 5: to mind when you say words like that, and it's
- 26:09Speaker 5: exactly everything that we both stand for. And we're just
- 26:11Speaker 5: excited to see people start using it as their go
- 26:14Speaker 5: to place for for analog adventures of the road.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Well, see, that's the thing. We didn't get an outside,
- 26:20Speaker 3: uh you know picture of the building, and what people
- 26:22Speaker 3: didn't see is that there's no windows at all.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Uh.
- 26:25Speaker 3: The door is that you need to be buzzed in.
- 26:28Speaker 3: It's very conspicuous.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that the video that that that beaded curtain at
- 26:32Speaker 4: the video store. It's right at the front door.
- 26:35Speaker 3: That's what you go. But the front door buzz is open.
- 26:40Speaker 3: You come in, and then you pass through the beads
- 26:42Speaker 3: and then you're in the You're in the store. Now.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I miss I wish so badly here in Jersey we
- 26:49Speaker 3: had a place, you know, at least they to me this,
- 26:55Speaker 3: this idea transcends typical retail, and this is something that
- 26:59Speaker 3: I hear so positively anytime people go to Orbit Video
- 27:03Speaker 3: to their retail location, as they talk about how well
- 27:06Speaker 3: the employees, how verse they are in physical media and
- 27:09Speaker 3: in film, and their recommendations and people you know, we
- 27:13Speaker 3: watch YouTubers or podcasters or people in our community go
- 27:16Speaker 3: there all the time, and they're surrounded by people that
- 27:19Speaker 3: are exactly like them, that maybe aren't as deep, meaning
- 27:23Speaker 3: they don't have social media, they don't attempt to put
- 27:26Speaker 3: themselves out there like that. But places like this are
- 27:29Speaker 3: places where you can form life changing friendships. You know,
- 27:32Speaker 3: you're surrounded by people who I guess what I'm trying
- 27:36Speaker 3: to say is you realize that you're not so alone
- 27:40Speaker 3: in this interest Because this feels to the mass public
- 27:44Speaker 3: so small. You mentioned earlier, Ryan that we're told, we've
- 27:49Speaker 3: been told for the last ten years of physical media
- 27:52Speaker 3: is dying. This is going away. Every year we see
- 27:55Speaker 3: it and just another retail establishment opening up up that's
- 28:01Speaker 3: focusing on physical media is all the proof you need
- 28:03Speaker 3: to show that it's not going anywhere. In fact, it's
- 28:06Speaker 3: growing faster than ever. You know, at this point, it's
- 28:12Speaker 3: actually kind of crazy to watch. And I posted a
- 28:15Speaker 3: real today where I made a comment to the end
- 28:19Speaker 3: that I was like, we have to stick through because
- 28:21Speaker 3: you know, we're kind of like pioneers at this point.
- 28:24Speaker 3: The people that have been here talking about this are
- 28:26Speaker 3: now the kind of like the old guys in the game.
- 28:30Speaker 3: There are people that have been doing it longer than us,
- 28:32Speaker 3: and there's all these every day I get follows from
- 28:35Speaker 3: people who are just now beginning to post at their
- 28:40Speaker 3: physical media halls. And it's the same way that I started,
- 28:43Speaker 3: the same way Steve, that you probably started, where I
- 28:46Speaker 3: was going to Goodwill and buying anything that caught my
- 28:49Speaker 3: interest or movies that I knew on DBD on Blu Ray,
- 28:53Speaker 3: you know, I mean, and a lot of those titles
- 28:55Speaker 3: since since I've kind of curated the collection of kind
- 28:57Speaker 3: of you know, moved away from.
- 28:59Speaker 4: But that's how it's well, yeah, you have to taste
- 29:03Speaker 4: everything to figure out what it is, you like, you know, yeah, yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 4: When I started, I had the good fortune of there
- 29:13Speaker 4: was a very large, popular flea market near us that
- 29:16Speaker 4: we'd go to every weekend, and there was this one
- 29:20Speaker 4: room in the back where the guy sold I think
- 29:24Speaker 4: he sold all sorts of other stuff now I think
- 29:26Speaker 4: of it, but I was only obsessed on this one
- 29:28Speaker 4: back wall that was just thousands of VHS tapes, and
- 29:33Speaker 4: he would get more in every week because he would
- 29:36Speaker 4: buy out either video stores that had closed, or he
- 29:40Speaker 4: would buy out the overstock because you know, like a
- 29:43Speaker 4: new release comes out, they buy twenty copies of it,
- 29:46Speaker 4: but months later they're like, yeah, we don't need twenty anymore.
- 29:49Speaker 4: So he'd buy those all up, and I think they
- 29:54Speaker 4: were I want to say they were like five dollars
- 29:57Speaker 4: each or like five for twenty. So like every single
- 30:02Speaker 4: week I would get five new VHS tapes. And my
- 30:06Speaker 4: mother was a big movie buff and so she gave
- 30:11Speaker 4: me names to look for, you know, She's like, it's like,
- 30:15Speaker 4: you know, Mark, Scorsese is supposed to be really great,
- 30:18Speaker 4: and Francis Ford Coppola. And then she told me about
- 30:21Speaker 4: the old stuff like James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart. So
- 30:26Speaker 4: any of those tapes I saw, I just grab them,
- 30:29Speaker 4: grab everything, like you were saying, it's just just get
- 30:32Speaker 4: my anything I can get my hands on. And for
- 30:35Speaker 4: me it wasn't. I wasn't interested in the new releases.
- 30:37Speaker 4: I wanted the older stuff because we also went to
- 30:41Speaker 4: the movies all the time. So I'm like, I saw
- 30:43Speaker 4: that I wanted I want to, you know, find new stuff,
- 30:47Speaker 4: which is old stuff, you know. So yeah, it's this,
- 30:52Speaker 4: you know, the same thing. You know. For me, it
- 30:54Speaker 4: was in the eighties and I was gobbling up VHS tapes.
- 30:57Speaker 4: But it's the same thing where just kind of I
- 31:00Speaker 4: have to watch and the great it's the greatest thing
- 31:03Speaker 4: about any sort of collecting or or this kind of
- 31:06Speaker 4: thing is you don't know what movie you're gonna put in,
- 31:11Speaker 4: and it's becomes your new favorite movie.
- 31:14Speaker 3: You know.
- 31:15Speaker 4: You know, Uh, it's a wonderful life. I had never
- 31:20Speaker 4: seen it I was a kid. My mom said, yeah,
- 31:22Speaker 4: it's a classic, and I was like, And for me,
- 31:25Speaker 4: I was like a lot of people. I'm like, it's
- 31:28Speaker 4: old through the forties, it's black and white. I'm like,
- 31:31Speaker 4: it's not going to be interesting at all. And the
- 31:34Speaker 4: opening scene is like stars talking to each other, and
- 31:39Speaker 4: I was like, what is this. I was like immediately
- 31:43Speaker 4: hooked because I was like, you know, it's not boring
- 31:48Speaker 4: and stuffy, like it's like fantastic storytelling. And then that
- 31:53Speaker 4: became like a favorite film. It's so good. And yeah,
- 31:57Speaker 4: it's like that happens all the time. The more you
- 31:59Speaker 4: the more you expose yourself to, you're gonna find more
- 32:03Speaker 4: and more things that you love that you had no
- 32:06Speaker 4: idea even existed. Yeah, And I was talking to Ryan
- 32:12Speaker 4: about this, particularly with like music once it went digital
- 32:17Speaker 4: and streaming, pretty much everyone just creates their own little
- 32:21Speaker 4: Spotify list or whatever, and they listen to the same
- 32:23Speaker 4: songs over and over again because it's the stuff they like.
- 32:28Speaker 4: They're never going to discover the next new thing they love.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Like somebody else, he pointed out, like nobody listens to
- 32:35Speaker 4: an album anymore. It's like for me, I know, I'm
- 32:39Speaker 4: a huge Prince fan. Most of my favorite print songs
- 32:42Speaker 4: are not the released singles there. They were album cuts
- 32:47Speaker 4: that if you don't listen to an album, you're never
- 32:50Speaker 4: gonna hear it. So yeah, you know, in movies are
- 32:54Speaker 4: the same way. It's like if you're only relying on streaming,
- 32:59Speaker 4: they don't have that many What they have is so
- 33:02Speaker 4: hidden and buried. You have to know what you're looking
- 33:06Speaker 4: for it and hand, you know, manually search for it,
- 33:10Speaker 4: and you're not going to find anything new that you know.
- 33:14Speaker 4: How can you search for something you don't know exists?
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I was just telling I was just telling
- 33:21Speaker 3: somebody that my favorite some of my favorite musical moments
- 33:27Speaker 3: from John Williams score for Jurassic Park you can't even
- 33:30Speaker 3: find because they only exist on the expanded La La
- 33:34Speaker 3: Land Records CD release because they're the only people who
- 33:38Speaker 3: went in and got all of the musical cues and
- 33:41Speaker 3: all the stuff that's not widely available. So I can't
- 33:44Speaker 3: even pull that up to show somebody. I have to
- 33:48Speaker 3: come home, put the CD in, go to that number,
- 33:52Speaker 3: and then record an audio on my phone to then
- 33:56Speaker 3: go and show with them. But it feels like I
- 33:59Speaker 3: love CDs and music for me was always like listening
- 34:04Speaker 3: to the whole album front to back. You put in
- 34:06Speaker 3: a CD and the album is supposed to be built
- 34:09Speaker 3: in an order, right, song number one.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Most artists put a lot of time and effort and
- 34:14Speaker 4: thought into what order these songs appear on the album,
- 34:17Speaker 4: Like there's a reason you know they're they're on there,
- 34:21Speaker 4: They're not just it didn't just hit shuffle play right.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, Steve, I've never asked you. Fifty episodes of
- 34:29Speaker 3: this show we've done together, I've never asked you, like
- 34:32Speaker 3: what your collecting beginnings were, like, did your parents own
- 34:39Speaker 3: media that you watched? Did you go to stores? Like
- 34:41Speaker 3: how did you?
- 34:43Speaker 7: I would definitely say it was like heavily influenced by
- 34:45Speaker 7: the video store, So just going on weekends that was
- 34:50Speaker 7: kind of like a weekly tradition. So we would go
- 34:54Speaker 7: to the video store. I'd rent up as many movies
- 34:57Speaker 7: as I could. As I got a little bit older,
- 34:59Speaker 7: like once I got to middle school, obviously I'm able
- 35:02Speaker 7: to kind of, you know, pick and choose things that
- 35:04Speaker 7: really kind of like caught my eye, especially with like
- 35:08Speaker 7: the cover art or hearing about it within my friend groups.
- 35:13Speaker 7: And that's really what kind of put me onto collecting
- 35:17Speaker 7: at a certain point. Was you know, yeah, it's awesome
- 35:19Speaker 7: to go to the video store and pick this up,
- 35:21Speaker 7: but sometimes it's not available or you know, someone might
- 35:25Speaker 7: never bring it back, and the idea of being able
- 35:29Speaker 7: to build my own collection, it just popped off from
- 35:32Speaker 7: there and then just never looked back. So collecting you know, VHS,
- 35:36Speaker 7: tapes and DVDs at the time, that's where it started
- 35:39Speaker 7: and then went from there and then obviously as you
- 35:42Speaker 7: can see, it never stopped.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Well, have you guys thought about it? And maybe this
- 35:50Speaker 3: is a crazy question, but on my time in retail,
- 35:53Speaker 3: I know there's a lot of thought that goes into
- 35:56Speaker 3: like when I worked for drug stores and they would
- 35:59Speaker 3: come in and you know, measure the distance between shelves
- 36:03Speaker 3: and they would measure you know, the lighting and the
- 36:06Speaker 3: pharming season in the corner to make you walk through
- 36:09Speaker 3: all these sections and they coordinate what sections you walk
- 36:11Speaker 3: through to get to it. Like, there's a lot of
- 36:13Speaker 3: thought that goes into like the psychological element of shopping.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Have you guys plenty thought exactly into how can you
- 36:23Speaker 3: encourage people taking a chance on something new Browsing shelves,
- 36:28Speaker 3: there's a lot of titles right when you have spines
- 36:31Speaker 3: sticking out, there's a lot for people to look at,
- 36:33Speaker 3: and people are instantly going to grab and look at
- 36:35Speaker 3: something maybe they recognize or they've heard of familiar. Yeah,
- 36:40Speaker 3: how have you guys? And I know you're still really early,
- 36:42Speaker 3: so you know, just entertain me. How how do you
- 36:46Speaker 3: think you can encourage somebody grabbing something new, especially when
- 36:51Speaker 3: prices on a lot of stuff are not low and
- 36:54Speaker 3: there's so much out there. You know, taking a chance
- 36:57Speaker 3: on something is a is a major risk. You know
- 37:00Speaker 3: in a lot of times depending on what kind of
- 37:02Speaker 3: you know, movie watching you are. So I'm curious at
- 37:05Speaker 3: how you guys think you can encourage someone to grab
- 37:07Speaker 3: something new and say, hey, I'm going to give this
- 37:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna spend my money on this thing I knew
- 37:11Speaker 3: nothing about and it could possibly change my my film
- 37:16Speaker 3: watching life.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Ahead.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Correct, Well, I have thoughts on this, but I'm going
- 37:21Speaker 4: to be two thousand miles away. So like we, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 4: Ryan and I talked about this the other day, and
- 37:28Speaker 4: I'm like, I've got all these thoughts and ideas, and
- 37:30Speaker 4: I'm just like, like, you got to do it because
- 37:33Speaker 4: I'm not there. But like one of the things we
- 37:38Speaker 4: talked about was that the the only the only way
- 37:43Speaker 4: that a small, little independent store can compete with the
- 37:47Speaker 4: behemoths is customer service, You're not going to be able
- 37:52Speaker 4: to compete. And you know, amount of inventory or pricing
- 37:57Speaker 4: or all of that is is going to be the
- 38:00Speaker 4: next thing impossible to compete with, you know, the marketing
- 38:03Speaker 4: budgets that they have. Like so when someone comes walks
- 38:07Speaker 4: through the door, Ah, it's gonna be you know, the
- 38:11Speaker 4: the shopping experience more than I'm just walking in to
- 38:17Speaker 4: buy you know, X, and then I'm gonna leave. So
- 38:22Speaker 4: that's part of the reason why I think it's important
- 38:24Speaker 4: that this isn't just a retail store. It's meant to
- 38:27Speaker 4: be a place to you know, just to come and
- 38:30Speaker 4: hang out and talk about movies. You know. Yeah, So yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 4: like it's it's it's a kind of it's I think
- 38:38Speaker 4: it's cliche because I'm old, but like video stores have
- 38:41Speaker 4: been pretty much gone for so long now that you know.
- 38:45Speaker 4: The big key thing is someone comes in and you
- 38:49Speaker 4: just ask them like, well, what are your favorite movies?
- 38:52Speaker 4: And then you get an idea of like, oh, this
- 38:54Speaker 4: is the kind of thing they like. They'll probably like
- 38:56Speaker 4: this that they've never heard of. But yeah, that's that's
- 39:01Speaker 4: going to be up to Ryan or whoever's man in
- 39:05Speaker 4: the counter to be able to have those interactions with
- 39:09Speaker 4: people to find out what it is they don't know
- 39:12Speaker 4: they love.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Yeah, well, and I mean a lot of it is
- 39:16Speaker 5: the classic stuff. You know, at your end, you do
- 39:19Speaker 5: what if you've never worked in retail. This might sound
- 39:22Speaker 5: like a redundant word to say, but literally merchandising, there's
- 39:25Speaker 5: a lot of people that will front face certain items
- 39:28Speaker 5: to highlight them. We will have like featured releases, we
- 39:31Speaker 5: will have end caps, we will have a new release section.
- 39:35Speaker 5: We will have like a label of the month kind
- 39:37Speaker 5: of call out where hey, if you recognize one of
- 39:40Speaker 5: these titles, there's a chance you might like some of
- 39:42Speaker 5: the others. And that's where you know, if we focus
- 39:45Speaker 5: on certain labels and they have good curation, it's one
- 39:48Speaker 5: of those things where you can start to trust them.
- 39:50Speaker 5: And that's like Deaf Crocodile. A lot of people love
- 39:51Speaker 5: Deaf Crocodile because if you've watched three of their movies,
- 39:55Speaker 5: you get an overall like sense of will I enjoy
- 39:59Speaker 5: most of their stuff at that point. There are a
- 40:01Speaker 5: lot of other labels. I mean, this isn't necessarily a
- 40:04Speaker 5: negative thing. They're much larger than Antenno or Deaf Crocodile
- 40:07Speaker 5: likely will ord be. But somebody like Shout. If you
- 40:09Speaker 5: go to Shout Studios and you pick up three titles,
- 40:12Speaker 5: it could be the perfect made for you three titles
- 40:15Speaker 5: you've ever seen. It could be three titles that you've
- 40:17Speaker 5: never heard of. It could be the worst three titles
- 40:19Speaker 5: they've ever put out. It doesn't mean anything because they
- 40:21Speaker 5: have eight hundred and forty two other catalog titles, and
- 40:24Speaker 5: you might love six hundred of them, you might hate
- 40:27Speaker 5: six hundred of them.
- 40:27Speaker 3: You can't.
- 40:28Speaker 5: There is no curation. They kind of just release everything
- 40:30Speaker 5: they can. And with some of these smaller labels, if
- 40:33Speaker 5: you get that sense of community and enjoyment and sort
- 40:37Speaker 5: of a semblance of a personality, which is kind of
- 40:41Speaker 5: what Antenna and Deaf Crocodile is doing with the store here.
- 40:44Speaker 5: This is another sense of curation and personality. And I mean,
- 40:50Speaker 5: other than Vinegar Syndrome and Terror Vision, what other distributors
- 40:54Speaker 5: out there have a public facing store like I think
- 40:56Speaker 5: Ocilloscope technically has a storefront in New York City and
- 41:00Speaker 5: you can hop in there and get just their titles.
- 41:03Speaker 5: They don't sell anybody else's things. They don't have their
- 41:06Speaker 5: you know, their their desk attendant offering recommendations for hours.
- 41:09Speaker 5: And that's that's our job is to be that personality,
- 41:11Speaker 5: that old hippie dude with long hair that you used
- 41:14Speaker 5: to stare at when your parents took you to Blockbuster
- 41:16Speaker 5: who knew every single film under the sun. And we
- 41:19Speaker 5: get to be those hippies and that's fucking exciting.
- 41:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and I certainly hope that we encourage the type
- 41:27Speaker 4: of customer that will come in and walk right past
- 41:32Speaker 4: the new release section. Yeah, Like that was me as
- 41:36Speaker 4: a kid like I and it's funny. I was like,
- 41:39Speaker 4: I've been a cranky old man since I was like twelve,
- 41:45Speaker 4: but like, yeah, I'd see I'd see all like you
- 41:47Speaker 4: go into this the video store and there's like twenty
- 41:50Speaker 4: people crowded around this one little shelf that's got forty
- 41:53Speaker 4: copies of the same film on it, and like right
- 41:56Speaker 4: behind them is an entire store full of movies they've
- 42:01Speaker 4: never seen. I was like, all the good stuff's back there, man,
- 42:05Speaker 4: what do you do? Yeah?
- 42:08Speaker 3: I don't know why people have like I just started doing.
- 42:13Speaker 3: And this is gonna sound crazy, but I'm on a journey.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I started at Criterion spine number one, and I've been
- 42:21Speaker 3: watching every single movie the Criterion Collection has ever put out,
- 42:25Speaker 3: just from like strictly like a film school perspective, like
- 42:28Speaker 3: watching stuff I have never forced myself to watch. I
- 42:31Speaker 3: watched just in the past three days alone. I watched
- 42:34Speaker 3: Nichols walk About I never even heard of it. Today,
- 42:37Speaker 3: I watched the first of the Samurai trilogy from nineteen
- 42:40Speaker 3: fifty seven or nineteen fifty four. I believe that was
- 42:43Speaker 3: I've never really been into that genre. I gave it
- 42:46Speaker 3: a go, loved it. I watched the nineteen forties Beauty
- 42:51Speaker 3: and a Beast last night with my wife, like and
- 42:54Speaker 3: at the same time kind of complete opposite. I've been
- 42:57Speaker 3: doing a tour of Stephen Thrower's Nightmare USA book and
- 43:00Speaker 3: watching a ton of these independent exploitation films for no
- 43:04Speaker 3: reason other than just I have to find a way.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I just want to learn more about movies. And this
- 43:09Speaker 3: is how you learn more by clicking playing like.
- 43:13Speaker 4: We said earlier. Like we said earlier, you just kind
- 43:15Speaker 4: of grab everything you can get your hands on it first,
- 43:18Speaker 4: and then you start figuring out what you like and
- 43:20Speaker 4: what you don't like. And then for me and I'm
- 43:23Speaker 4: sure for a lot of people, that leads to you
- 43:26Speaker 4: start noticing I really like that movie, and I really
- 43:30Speaker 4: like that movie, and I really like that movie, and
- 43:32Speaker 4: they were all directed by the same person. I'm like, huh,
- 43:38Speaker 4: so then you start seeking out everything by that person,
- 43:41Speaker 4: you know. So yeah, it's it's just there's a million
- 43:45Speaker 4: different ways to get in, but it's yeah, it's the
- 43:54Speaker 4: the you know, the the adventure of if you don't
- 43:58Speaker 4: know what you're gonna find, and that's the exciting part,
- 44:01Speaker 4: you know.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I'm such a nerd, Steve, you know that.
- 44:06Speaker 3: I just bought my third copy of Wes Craven's Last
- 44:09Speaker 3: House on the Left because eighty eight Films absolutely just
- 44:13Speaker 3: crushed the new bonus features that they produce for their
- 44:16Speaker 3: new Blu Ray release, and I want it just for that,
- 44:20Speaker 3: the new documentaries and the new interviews, and I could
- 44:23Speaker 3: watch those and you know, think like, oh, this was
- 44:26Speaker 3: this was a waste, but I have to see them.
- 44:28Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you know.
- 44:29Speaker 4: With films, there's certain films that if they're your favorite,
- 44:34Speaker 4: you know, they could they could release, you know, twenty times,
- 44:38Speaker 4: and I'm gonna I'm probably gonna buy it every damn time. Yeah,
- 44:42Speaker 4: I don't.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know why I bought the Turbine Texas
- 44:44Speaker 3: Chancelmasker four K. I already have that movie tenfold. I
- 44:48Speaker 3: don't know why I did that. Who knows. Whatever. It's okay,
- 44:53Speaker 3: it looks nice on the shelf, it does, right, I
- 44:56Speaker 3: still need to I just want to give a quick
- 44:58Speaker 3: personal deaf Crocodile Store Craig Ryan. I remember Ryan texted
- 45:03Speaker 3: me about the two five five one trilogy and was like,
- 45:07Speaker 3: this is the most you thing f Crocodile will ever release.
- 45:12Speaker 3: And one night I eventually did buy it. And then
- 45:17Speaker 3: one night I had a couple of drinks and I
- 45:18Speaker 3: was hanging out and it was like twelve thirty night
- 45:20Speaker 3: and I was like, you know what, let me watch this.
- 45:22Speaker 3: So I was like They're like, you know, the longest
- 45:24Speaker 3: one is barely over an hour or whatever. Let's get
- 45:26Speaker 3: into this. I haven't recovered. It's been two weeks. I
- 45:29Speaker 3: still I don't know what's going on. I've I've reached
- 45:32Speaker 3: a point of like existentialism. I don't know what the well.
- 45:35Speaker 4: It's kind of funny because I think this came through
- 45:40Speaker 4: I think it might have been through the discord because
- 45:42Speaker 4: we've We've always encouraged people from day one to send
- 45:46Speaker 4: us wish lists, like what what movie do you want
- 45:50Speaker 4: released that's never been released? And this was this was
- 45:55Speaker 4: one of the suggested titles, and so we reached out
- 45:58Speaker 4: to the people that had it and they sent us
- 46:00Speaker 4: a screener link, and Dennis and I both I think
- 46:03Speaker 4: about the same time we've we've you know, pressed play.
- 46:07Speaker 4: I don't think I was five minutes into the first
- 46:10Speaker 4: one where I just hit pause and email Dennis. I'm like, yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 4: we need to sign these like right now. Like yeah,
- 46:18Speaker 4: Like it's combining all of these different genres you know,
- 46:24Speaker 4: silent cinema and and you know, techno and heavy metal
- 46:29Speaker 4: music and and and you know, color tinting and you
- 46:34Speaker 4: know and monsters. And I'm like, come on, like, we
- 46:39Speaker 4: need to sign it right now. So we did very
- 46:42Speaker 4: quickly sign all three. And it's one of the I
- 46:46Speaker 4: think it's one of the only times or another label
- 46:49Speaker 4: reached out to us and was like, damn you. I
- 46:54Speaker 4: think I think it was I think it was Severn
- 46:56Speaker 4: who had planned on you know, reaching out and and
- 47:00Speaker 4: and getting the trilogy, and we beat them to it.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Ah, Yeah, they can deal. It's all right.
- 47:09Speaker 5: Sets.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it doesn't happen often, it but there, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 4: every once in a while there'll be an announcement and
- 47:16Speaker 4: it's just like I would have killed to put that out,
- 47:20Speaker 4: damn it.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Well, I will say that that trilogy is the most
- 47:26Speaker 3: severing thing I could imagine them have touching anyway, So
- 47:29Speaker 3: I'm not shocked to hear that it was them.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Well, yeah, it's Those movies are a trip, and I'm
- 47:36Speaker 4: pretty proud of that release, with like how much extra
- 47:40Speaker 4: stuff we were able to get on there, including the
- 47:44Speaker 4: entire soundtrack for all three films, and and honestly, it
- 47:49Speaker 4: was it was just because everyone involved was so you know,
- 47:54Speaker 4: helpful and giving, Like all the people that all the
- 47:56Speaker 4: composers that did the music were just like here, here
- 47:58Speaker 4: are the files everything you need, you know, the filmmakers like, yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 4: I've got a ton of short films. He's like here
- 48:04Speaker 4: you can have those. And it's just like everyone was
- 48:06Speaker 4: just like here, here, here, because I think they were
- 48:09Speaker 4: all like I can't believe someone's putting this on a disc,
- 48:12Speaker 4: Like they were excited.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well, how do you guys, So, Craig, I'm not
- 48:19Speaker 3: sure really how much you know about our show? But
- 48:21Speaker 3: our entire show is dedicated around audio commentaries. We discuss
- 48:25Speaker 3: films based on what we learned in those commentary tracks.
- 48:28Speaker 3: And we've been lucky enough over fifty plus episodes to
- 48:33Speaker 3: you know, have talked about some incredible tracks and have
- 48:36Speaker 3: heard from numerous people who now think of commentaries as
- 48:39Speaker 3: you know, essential pieces of their physical media collection. And
- 48:43Speaker 3: we're hoping to just keep that conversation going. How do
- 48:46Speaker 3: you guys, like, what is the I know, obviously the
- 48:50Speaker 3: important part is like get the movie, get it licensed,
- 48:54Speaker 3: you start putting it together. How do you even begin
- 48:56Speaker 3: thinking of possibilities for bonus feeds? I can't even imagine
- 49:01Speaker 3: sitting down with a pen and paper and being like, okay,
- 49:04Speaker 3: how do I start?
- 49:06Speaker 4: Well, I mean, the key thing is we're usually trying
- 49:10Speaker 4: to find someone who's kind of like, you know, that
- 49:14Speaker 4: that has a history with whatever it is we're releasing,
- 49:16Speaker 4: so they can so they've they've got the expertise and
- 49:19Speaker 4: knowledge to speak on it. And then I mean, and
- 49:25Speaker 4: Dennis knows so many people like his his rolodex.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Is, does he have an actual rolodex?
- 49:35Speaker 5: No?
- 49:36Speaker 4: But but I mean.
- 49:38Speaker 5: Like, are we sure he might actually have?
- 49:42Speaker 3: That is true?
- 49:42Speaker 4: He might actually have one, but yeah, he's got such
- 49:47Speaker 4: a deep you know, well to pull from of people
- 49:52Speaker 4: he's he's known or met he met because he met
- 49:55Speaker 4: so many people while at the Cinema Tech, and he's
- 50:00Speaker 4: just really good at keeping in touch with everyone. So
- 50:02Speaker 4: it's like, you know, he's like, oh, they would be
- 50:05Speaker 4: great for this, you know, and if he just reaches
- 50:08Speaker 4: out and usually they're like, yeah, sure, yeah, it's he's
- 50:13Speaker 4: He's the He's the source for most of our bonus
- 50:18Speaker 4: features is finding the people that fit the project. Dennis
- 50:25Speaker 4: is kind of a master well.
- 50:28Speaker 5: And Dennis Bartok's knowledge is not just as simple as
- 50:30Speaker 5: rolling over it with that little anecdote. For those that
- 50:33Speaker 5: don't know Deaf Crocodile or Dennis, this is like, oh,
- 50:36Speaker 5: you need an expert on East Asian cinema from the
- 50:40Speaker 5: years of nineteen sixty three to sixty eight. I know
- 50:43Speaker 5: somebody who wrote a book and his uncle actually pioneered
- 50:46Speaker 5: the music that was made in that era. So yeah,
- 50:47Speaker 5: let me call him up and they'll record with it
- 50:49Speaker 5: tomorrow for twelve dollars. And it's the best thing ever
- 50:52Speaker 5: that you've ever heard. I And that's only like slightly
- 50:55Speaker 5: exaggerating it's kind of insane.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I remember we had a conference call because
- 51:01Speaker 4: we've been wanting to put out more classic Indian cinema
- 51:05Speaker 4: for since we started the company. I remember we were
- 51:08Speaker 4: on a call one time and we were speaking to
- 51:10Speaker 4: like people from an archive and you know, all all
- 51:13Speaker 4: people over in India and Dennis is listening off all
- 51:16Speaker 4: of these directors in films that he's interested in, and
- 51:20Speaker 4: they were like, you know more about Indian cinema than
- 51:24Speaker 4: we do, like and we're the archive, Like I don't
- 51:30Speaker 4: know how he does it. And it's not just Indian cinema,
- 51:34Speaker 4: it's it's it's a it's amazing, like the we've got
- 51:39Speaker 4: some I mean a Lithuanian rock opera, Like we put
- 51:44Speaker 4: out a Lithuanian rock opera. Yeah, yeah, Dennis knew of
- 51:49Speaker 4: Like how.
- 51:50Speaker 5: Like my memory, Dennis can name the names of everybody
- 51:53Speaker 5: that starred in it, directed and it worked on it.
- 51:56Speaker 5: He knows all the contexts in the archive and these
- 51:58Speaker 5: are Lithuanian names, by the way.
- 51:59Speaker 4: Yeah yeah. Yeah. In contrast, I talked to Ryan all
- 52:05Speaker 4: the time. How many times do I just stop because
- 52:08Speaker 4: I can't remember what I was gonna say, Like Dennis
- 52:11Speaker 4: doesn't have that problem, like his mind is a steel trap.
- 52:19Speaker 3: But it's fascinating for us because we were lucky enough
- 52:22Speaker 3: to talk to Guido and his son from Selly Lloyd Dreams,
- 52:27Speaker 3: and we were talking to them about producing bonus features
- 52:30Speaker 3: and Geto Records his own commentary tracks for so far
- 52:34Speaker 3: the releases that they've put out. And I thought that
- 52:37Speaker 3: was fascinating because if you are you know, if you
- 52:40Speaker 3: consider yourself an expert and you can talk on the
- 52:42Speaker 3: subject and you can kind of cover your own bases
- 52:44Speaker 3: and do that, you know, I thought that was incredibly interesting. Ryan,
- 52:48Speaker 3: you and Will have been producing bonus features for what
- 52:51Speaker 3: five six years now?
- 52:53Speaker 5: It's been not even close to that, but okay, oh.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm giving you more credit.
- 52:58Speaker 5: He's propping you off. I okay, I'll take it.
- 53:01Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, take it.
- 53:02Speaker 5: At least three decades, yeah, ten years exactly.
- 53:06Speaker 3: And you know, you and I talk all the time
- 53:08Speaker 3: about essentially the sometimes the mayhem you have to go
- 53:11Speaker 3: through just trying to produce a release and get enough content.
- 53:15Speaker 3: And nowadays it is kind of like you do see
- 53:18Speaker 3: a lot of uh you know this, the same names
- 53:22Speaker 3: you hear on a lot of releases, especially depending on
- 53:24Speaker 3: the genre. You hear a lot of the same people,
- 53:27Speaker 3: which is always great, but you're also seeing a lot
- 53:29Speaker 3: of new people come on to releases, people I've never
- 53:32Speaker 3: heard of before. You know, people getting more chances to
- 53:35Speaker 3: get out.
- 53:35Speaker 5: And you wonder who pioneered that a few years ago,
- 53:38Speaker 5: but yeah.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Three decades ago, right, I think I think it was
- 53:41Speaker 3: exactly when you pioneered that.
- 53:43Speaker 5: I think checks out that.
- 53:46Speaker 4: I mean with a lot of the people that Dennis knows,
- 53:50Speaker 4: they've never done a commentary track. They're just kind of
- 53:53Speaker 4: experts in the field. So and commentary tracks are that's
- 53:59Speaker 4: a fair specific skill set. It is not easy.
- 54:05Speaker 5: It's not for the directors that made the damn movie.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Yeah, So I mean, so the the you know, if
- 54:13Speaker 4: you if you if you hear one that's that's not great,
- 54:16Speaker 4: like go easy, Like oh yeah, it is really really hard.
- 54:24Speaker 4: So that's why a lot of times you'll see a
- 54:26Speaker 4: lot of names pop up over and over and over
- 54:28Speaker 4: again because those people are really good at it. You know, like,
- 54:31Speaker 4: you find someone who's really good at it, you're gonna
- 54:33Speaker 4: use them over and over again. Because it if you
- 54:37Speaker 4: get someone that that that struggles, like gets it can
- 54:40Speaker 4: be very hard. To salvage, you know, and make it
- 54:43Speaker 4: a workable commentary track. And that's and that's yeah, that's
- 54:48Speaker 4: not it's not. I don't blame the person doing it
- 54:51Speaker 4: is like you know, they they probably are like, yeah,
- 54:53Speaker 4: I can just talk about a movie. But while it's
- 54:55Speaker 4: playing like it's it's a lot more than that.
- 54:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Yeah, we our first episode, we wait so that Steve
- 55:05Speaker 3: wasn't on the show yet. When I started the show,
- 55:07Speaker 3: I went, I did the first five episodes with a
- 55:09Speaker 3: different host, And when when I put the idea out
- 55:13Speaker 3: for the show, I was like, nobody's gonna listen to this.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Nobody even listens to commentary tracks. Who's going to listen
- 55:18Speaker 3: to a show about those commentary tracks? And then on
- 55:21Speaker 3: top of it, I was like, I want to cover
- 55:23Speaker 3: Spider Labyrinth, a movie that nobody has ever heard, and
- 55:28Speaker 3: Ryan and Will are on the commentary track, and we
- 55:31Speaker 3: did that episode and we talked on that episode, Ryan
- 55:34Speaker 3: about how difficult it is sometimes too. There's not a
- 55:38Speaker 3: lot of information out there sometimes and you're digging and
- 55:41Speaker 3: you're trying to find something to fill this ninety plus
- 55:44Speaker 3: minute you know, audio track with information that is interesting
- 55:49Speaker 3: and engaging to an audience. And in the fifty some
- 55:54Speaker 3: commentary tracks Steve we've covered, there's tracks where we never
- 56:00Speaker 3: we'll never talk bad about a track, will never say hey,
- 56:02Speaker 3: this sucks, but we're very vocal about like, you know,
- 56:06Speaker 3: this was a tough one for whatever reason, whether it's
- 56:08Speaker 3: information available, whether it's expertise from the commentator, whether it's
- 56:14Speaker 3: you know, there's a lot of different things that go
- 56:15Speaker 3: into it, and I think we've learned more than more
- 56:20Speaker 3: than ever, like this is a true art that goes
- 56:23Speaker 3: into bonus via.
- 56:26Speaker 4: We had we had one that was that was turned
- 56:28Speaker 4: in and I think it was it ended up it
- 56:30Speaker 4: was like twenty five minutes long, but we're like, that's
- 56:34Speaker 4: that's not half the movie.
- 56:36Speaker 5: Yep. I had to save that one.
- 56:38Speaker 4: So so we turned that into a visual essay instead.
- 56:45Speaker 4: It was it was great content, but it was just like,
- 56:48Speaker 4: this isn't gonna work as a commentary track. Yeah, yeah, good, Well,
- 56:54Speaker 4: I think it's real hard. And then Brian, it was
- 56:57Speaker 4: your idea to turn them into podcast episodes, right, yeah,
- 57:01Speaker 4: that was brilliant. Like, because yet, I myself, i'll watch
- 57:07Speaker 4: a movie. I just finished watching it. I really don't
- 57:10Speaker 4: have any interest in watching it again. And listen to
- 57:14Speaker 4: the commentary track. I just watched it, And with the
- 57:18Speaker 4: commentary track, even if they are talking about things that
- 57:20Speaker 4: are on screen you've seen, if you've already seen it,
- 57:25Speaker 4: I don't I don't need it to be in front
- 57:27Speaker 4: of me. I can still listen to the commentary track
- 57:29Speaker 4: and know what they're talking about because I've seen the
- 57:31Speaker 4: film now. So it's yeah, it's a perfect podcast. Like,
- 57:36Speaker 4: so I'm so glad that we've we've been releasing the
- 57:41Speaker 4: the older commentary tracks as podcast episodes because that's perfect
- 57:45Speaker 4: for you know, a film nerd driving into work, Like
- 57:50Speaker 4: especially if you're in LA, it's going to take you
- 57:51Speaker 4: at least at least an hour to get to work.
- 57:53Speaker 4: So so yeah, you can. You can listen to the
- 57:59Speaker 4: whole entire thing on your way to work and then
- 58:01Speaker 4: your way home.
- 58:03Speaker 5: Your podcast is incredible.
- 58:04Speaker 4: I do I do love I do love that. When
- 58:07Speaker 4: when I was visiting Ryan and he kept talking about
- 58:10Speaker 4: these places like, oh, that's that's too far, I'm like, dude,
- 58:13Speaker 4: it's it's fifteen minutes from here, Like I can't go
- 58:18Speaker 4: to the corner store here in LA in fifteen minutes.
- 58:21Speaker 4: You're like, oh, that's too far. That's way too far.
- 58:24Speaker 5: We're soft here, Craig.
- 58:27Speaker 4: But I get it. Before I moved to LA, you know,
- 58:30Speaker 4: I grew up in World, New England, and yeah, like
- 58:35Speaker 4: about twenty thirty minutes was about as far as you
- 58:39Speaker 4: would ever go for anything. So, I mean, I lived
- 58:44Speaker 4: just about one hour from Boston growing up my entire life.
- 58:49Speaker 4: I probably went my family and like two three times
- 58:55Speaker 4: maybe in my life. And then when I moved to
- 58:58Speaker 4: LA and then I come back and I'm like kicking myself.
- 59:00Speaker 4: I'm like, I had this cool, amazing city one hour
- 59:05Speaker 4: from me, and I never went because it was too
- 59:09Speaker 4: far away. And now I'm like, I live in LA
- 59:13Speaker 4: and like I can see downtown. It's that close. That's
- 59:18Speaker 4: easy an hour during rush hour. Like like.
- 59:23Speaker 3: I live five minutes, like I can see it outside
- 59:26Speaker 3: my window from Philadelphia, and I do everything in my
- 59:29Speaker 3: power to stay as far away from that place it's
- 59:31Speaker 3: humanly possible.
- 59:32Speaker 4: Well, maybe Philly is not as nice as Boston. I
- 59:34Speaker 4: don't know.
- 59:37Speaker 3: I will drive two and a half hours down south
- 59:42Speaker 3: for a marketplace. Find I'm not driving five minutes into
- 59:44Speaker 3: Philly for a marketplace. Fine, I don't care how good
- 59:47Speaker 3: of a bargain it is. Okay, I'm not doing it.
- 59:50Speaker 5: No Wayig Craig loves the traffic in La so much.
- 59:52Speaker 5: You opened a video store seventeen hundred and forty miles away.
- 59:59Speaker 4: Well, hopefully this is so successful, we'll open an Adventures
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: Analog West.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: There we go franchise oppotility.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Yes, it would have to be super successful.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Well, yeah, we've learned. I mean, you know, we've as
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: of the time, listening to this episode. Right before this
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: we released our episode. We covered the two thousand and
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: nine remake of Friday the Thirteenth, and I was shocked
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: from on the AARRO release when I saw Alexander Heller
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Nicholas on a commentary track for the final unrated cut
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: of that, and I was like, I told Steve, I
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: was like, we have to cover that because I don't know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: for some reason, this just feels like too big a
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: name to be on this release, Like it doesn't make
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: it was like one of those things were shocked. I
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: was like, Okay, we have to listen to this. And
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: what we what we learned was we weren't getting a
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: scene by scene like breakdown. We weren't getting observation of
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: anything happening on screen. Instead, We were greeted with an
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: hour and forty six minutes of an in depthscussion between
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: her and Josh Nelson about the evolution of horror remakes.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: And I was like, holy fuck, this is like gold
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: on this disc that I haven't seen a single person
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: bring up because very little people who bought this ever
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: clicked Blaye on this.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: She's incredible. She's only done a few things for us
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: so far, every time like she's. One was a written
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: essay and I just read it and I'm like, damn, yeh,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: she's good.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: That's how I felt with Will when I watched his
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: visual essay on gwen Or the Book of Sand I
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: was like, Jesus Christ, this is gold. It was incredible.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Dennis kind of lost his mind over that one too.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: It completely reshaped my mind my thinking of the film.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Like I think I was more emotionally punished by that
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: visual essay than I was the movie itself. I was like, God,
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: I gotta watch the movie again. Now I gotta go back.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: But yeah, this is you know, physical media is education
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: with something that I'm incredibly passionate about, and.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: I try to.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: It's it's hard because like people like myself, people like Steve,
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: you know you guys as well, Like we weren't. We
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: didn't get into movies with this interest in commentaries and
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: bonus features, like we learned how to get into this.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: And I've watched and listen to hundreds of commentary tracks
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: before I even decided to start taking them serious per se,
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: to the point where you know, now there's a column
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: about them in Physical Media Advocate and stuff like. It
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: took me a long time to learn how to enjoy
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: them and learn why I love them. And there are
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: people out there who will love bonus features and the
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: extra material and learning about movies as much as we do.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: They just have to begin clicking play on them and
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: diving further in and figuring out exactly what it is
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: that ape fuels to them. And I feel like it's
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: the hardest thing to get people to do. I mean, endlessly,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: I get comments of like I will never buy anything
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: for the bonus features. I've never watched a documentary in
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: my life. I don't even know what an audio commentary is.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: I'm just worried that the four K dips a little
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: bit in bitrate ten minutes and nine seconds into the movie,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Like that's.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: So we'll do exist, Yeah, they do.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: And some of these people have insane collections that that
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: that trump mine back here and blow away all. They
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: have all these movies and they've never done anything more
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: than beyond push play, so constantly trying.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: To figure out information and watch that bit rate Yeah.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: After they've already pulled out their phone.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Yeah, after they've already pulled yep, yep. So I'm just
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: really excited to see, you know what this store does.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: I'm excited for the micros Cinema. You know, I'm really
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: really really just like my heart is so happy for
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: you guys. You know, this is this is incredible and
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: already already blowing away the first tier of the Kickstarter
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: as well.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: That is our fault. We uh we teetered on this
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: one because it's it's one of those things like it
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: does feel a little awkward. We're in a situation where
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: these are two for profit companies essentially asking for a
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: handout to build up something that is exciting and new.
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: But the reality is this wasn't budgeted. We can't just
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: sneeze and I mean, deaf crocodile as long as they've
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: been around, Craig, how much how much extra money you
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: bring home from death crocodile every.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: Months, very little.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Over. The last Antenna was announced, we were six and
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: a half months ago. Now that's it. Antenda's around publicly
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: for six and a half months. I have only invested money.
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: I have not made a dime from anything Antena related yet,
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: and I probably will not for months to come. But
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: if that's the case, we don't just have fifty thousand
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: dollars to start a store. But because of what Craig
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: said earlier, the reality is it is literally cheaper for
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: us to take this step. Even if the store doesn't
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: really make much money, it is still basically going to
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: cover the cost of paying somebody else to fulfill it,
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: and we get to have control over that. So we're
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: all just sort of taking a risk together. The reality is,
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: if people want to come in and contribute because they
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: want to see something great coming out of these two
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: companies working together, this is the best way to do that.
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: And we are eternally grateful for the people that jumped
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: in and smash that goal. We're also a little bit
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: regretful that we set it so low that it looks like, hey,
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: they don't need anymore. The reality is our goal that
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: we asked for is literally about ten percent of what
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: we truly need to make this great. And at that point,
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: if people would would step in and take us over
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: that crossroad, we would be doing much better and we
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: can make it great for everybody that's going to come visit,
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: because if it's not amazing the first time and people
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: step into that door, what motivation is there to want
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: to come back.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of kind of important that it's it's
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: ready for prime time on on day one. Uh, you
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: can't have people walk into a store that's half empty.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: They'll be like, well, I don't need to go there again.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Well, I want to ask I want to I want
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: to ask this, Steve, do you know who? Do you
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: know anybody by name? Over it at static tape over
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: at the store? Yeah, I mean I know the owner, Like, like,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: you've gone there, You've talked to him, he's there, he's present.
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: Yeah, we have a we have like a group chat
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: on Instagram.
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: Okay, me and the other guys. Okay.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: I was just curious because that's what matters.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: That I different, That's the thing, Like I get it.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: Vinegars interm is huge. I've been an archive a bunch
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: of times. I don't know anybody at the r Archive.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: They've always been very helpful when I go. I don't
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: really ask for much help, you know, but they've been
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: very helpful. That's the only place that I can go
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: to buy movies, and I have to go three and
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: a half hours away unless I'm at my Barnes and Noble,
- 1:07:15Speaker 3: you know what I mean. But that's even.
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: That's not quite the same.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Even here.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: Even here in La We've got Amiba, which is kind
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: of amazing for what it is, but it's almost too big.
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Like mm hmm.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: It's like it's like if you go into like, you know,
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: if you want to used to go into Best Buy
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: and you ask somebody there questions about TV's or you know, receivers,
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: they have no idea. Yeah, so it's the same. It's
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: like you go into Amiba. They have tons of physical media,
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: but if you have any questions, you're screwed, Like they're like,
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: uh over there. So like I kind of like that,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: you know. It's you know, when I grew up, there
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: were there was there were two video stores near us,
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: independent small ones, and we used we went to those
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: all the time, and there was a Blockbuster not too
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: far from us, but we always just we just didn't
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: go there because you didn't have Again, it was like
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: most of the people that worked at Blockbuster, they just
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: worked at Blockbusters. They didn't give a shit, like you know,
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: write your movie, move on. Like the small stores were
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: opened by people like us that were like film nerds
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: and loved this stuff and knew every movie that was
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: in their store. They could tell you what it was about,
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: who made it, why you should like it, why you
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: won't like it, you know. And that's the kind of
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: place where we're striving to be is a is a
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: place that is again it's it's born out of our
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: love for this, not our our goal to get rich.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: Which I think that might have some bearing on why
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: we never make any money. We're never trying to make money.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: Could be that could be a problem. I don't know sure.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Remark on the.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: According to the people online, it's just a mindset thing.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Man.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: All you gotta do is, you know, think rich and
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: then you'll get rich. Yeah that's what they say.
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: Okay, I'll try that.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: It hasn't worked for me. I'm broke as out to do.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: I'd love to fall prey to a think rich quick scheme?
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: You want to fall prey to one.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: To a think rich quick scheme? Hell yeah, if I
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: can think about it and accidentally get rich. Oh yeah
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: I do.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: Whoops, Like what did I do?
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: Oops? All billfolds like I mean, yeah, please?
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: So after all of this, what can people do? Definitively? Like,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: how can the community help as much as possible? Obviously
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: there's a kickstarter.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: We did, we did add We did add a few
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: items this week, and we're going to try and keep
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: that adding items each week. And this stuff most of
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: the stuff we had. We added a couple of T
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: shirts and a couple of mugs which are lower price
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: points and they're also not like limited like one of one,
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: which a lot of the stuff we have there is
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: so you can add it on, like if you had
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: a pledge, you could just add on a mug or
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: a T shirt or something. And we're gonna try adding
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: more more I like I said, each week, the we
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: had added five subscriptions for def Crocodile for that the
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: previous subscription that just enrollment just wrapped up. All five
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: of those went pretty quick. So I checked inventory to
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: see I want to make sure I'm not offering something
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: we don't have, so I was able to add five more.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: So those those are in there. So the bonus perk
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: to that is that the Tomorrow Deluxe you know, sold
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: out immediately. So I just looked through my like my
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: personal stack here at the house, like do I have
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: five more? I'm like, okay, we got five more. I come,
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: I'll offer those as the kickstarter perk. And then, like
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: I said, the big thing we added was the trip
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: for two. So yeah, somebody just wants to have a
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: fantastic like the trip with their best friend or significant
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: other and hopefully that's the same person. Uh yeah, come
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: out see us, stay at a really nice hotel, you know,
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: enjoy the grand opening, and then we'll all go out
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: and have a really fantastic dinner. It'll be a hell
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: of a lot of fun.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, Brian, what do you think, man, what can
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: we keep people doing outside of just going for the Kickstarter? Like,
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: what can we do?
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I mean, the big thing you and I have pushed
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: physical media's education for a long time. And if people
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: are looking back and they follow the disconnected on social
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: media about two months ago, maybe a little more than that. Now,
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: it's been a while I posted on all my social
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: media a question said I was working on something else,
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: which wasn't lying. I was where do you go to
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: buy brand new releases? And most people in the US
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: simply said the only place near me is Barnes and
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: Noble in a Walmart. And to me, that is a
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: depressing dystopia of physical media that we have found ourselves in.
- 1:12:48Speaker 5: And so the reality is is what you can do
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: to help is to make sure that this culture does
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: not die. You can request those at your local comic bookshop.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: You can right to start a store yourself. You can
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: start a pop up shop and go partner with the
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: local independent cinema for screenings, and if enough people are
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: buying out all your inventory, you might have enough in
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: your area to go rent a super small location and
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: get a store going. You might have partnerships that you
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: can create in place to get filmmakers on your side,
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: independent cinemas, bookstores, music acts, all kinds of people that
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: would love to bring you along and hype up this real, tangible,
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: physical world that is not just a hobby. These are
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: these are lives. We're all working on these things to
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: literally make a living. And if we all can lift
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: that up and create a culture where people are dying
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: for that again. It could change the way that the
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: film industry handles things. And as a pair of companies
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: that are dedicated literally to physical media, we want nothing
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: more than that world, for people to return to that
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: and be something that we not see as a dying
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: art form, but as a given. Of course, we're going
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: to put everything into that because that's what we always do.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, well, I know we'll be there, Steve,
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: You'll be there. I'll make you. I'll make you come
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: out for the grand opening. I'll come pick you up.
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: Hey. Have be a hell of a road trip. Then
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: Michigan is a slight detour.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Come on, Chris, I gotta go. I gotta go up
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: and then I gotta go right back down. It makes sense.
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: I think Detroit's close enough to do this.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: I think makes perfect sense in the map.
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: Now, we'll be there.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: You know, we'll obviously obviously be supporting and absolutely any
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: way that we can. I mean, you have the entire
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: physical media community behind you, guys. A response to this
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: was absolutely incredible to see just from an outside perspective.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: I'm not even involved in any way, but just watching,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: you know, the the the response to it was incredible,
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: and there's a whole lot of faith and I have nothing,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: but you know, the absolute top tier faith that you
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: guys are going to absolutely continue to do incredible stuff
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: for our community. So I can't wait for this to open.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna have to here punch card with the
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: airline or something so I can go out and visit regularly.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Well, with all that money you're making, you could just
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: buy a plane and then personal.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: Just fly right out of Santa Monica Airport.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, take you right anytime, pilot on standby. It'll just
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: get you there where Ryan will come pick you up.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: That's a there's a private airport in the summit. We
- 1:15:38Speaker 5: got you.
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: Well, there's a look. I thought the last stretch goal
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: was going to put a helipad up on the roof.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: It was Yeah.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: I love that we're saying this about a business that
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: has been kind of tough to find insurance for and
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: we're talking about putting in a helipad. Wow, oh my god.
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: We'll stee if any last questions before we start to
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: wrap up or anything.
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: No, I'm just over the moon excited for you guys,
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: and it couldn't be more thrilled for this huge accomplishment
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: you guys have achieved.
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: Yeah, well, thank you both. It's been great to be
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: able to talk about it.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we're.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: We don't see it on my face. I'm very.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: That's what I'm most excited about. The reality is is
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: the community behind this is the thing that I'm looking
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: forward to the most. Literally, last night, Craigs would be
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: embarrassed by this. Probably we talked on the phone for
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: ninety minutes last night, and fifteen minutes of that conversation
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: was literally about the show Dynasty. And the reality is,
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Craig and I we talked literally pretty much every single day,
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: and no matter what, if we just get on the
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: phone and start talking, it's hard to hang up because
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: this industry is so insular and interesting in a weird
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: way because we all love movies. We're all working intently
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: on them, but most of us don't have people around
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: us that we can just talk to that love them
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: like we do. And so if I start chatting with Craig,
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: I'm on that phone for a long time. And not
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: that I'm sad about that, and hopefully he's not either,
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: but it is. It's a world where we're like, man,
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: I get to nerd out on Dynasty. Let's just talk
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: about people following this down the stairs. That's incredible.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Well, I think that's the thing with I always say that.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: I think one thing that really impacted me. What's the
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: first time I came on the Reconnected show? Because I
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: was like, holy shit, I get to come on a
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: four hour show where all we talk about our movies,
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: we talk about different types of movies, just talk about
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: new releases, we talk about this, we talk about that.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: And I was like, Wow, this is like the greatest
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: thing ever. And I've had the chance to go on
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: two more times after that, and I love it every
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: single time. Man, So you've already amassed a community of
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: people who just want to talk about movies. That's all
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: they want. And they want to buster balls. That's all
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: they wanted. Those are the two things they love doing.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: It does happen a lot, Yeah, you.
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: Know, I mean yeah, yeah, you are to target a
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: lot of times on that Reconnected chat. You know what
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: I'm a large target. I get it.
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, no, no, but thank you.
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: I'm saying French names.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Yeah when you're saying yeah, thank you guys for the
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: time We're gonna have link down below to everything, to
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: the Deaf Crocodile Shop, to the Kickstarter. We'll have everything
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: down there, so please go free check those, check out

- 1:18:59Speaker 3: what else do we have going on? And Steve anything
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: else going on?
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: We've got.
- 1:19:06Speaker 7: Gotta pick out our next couple of movies we're recovering
- 1:19:08Speaker 7: doing deep dives on.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Oh, we're gonna have Will on the show.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: Yeah it's nice.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he's gonna be on for Texas Chane some asker too.
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: That's perfect for him and fun one not not to
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: not to suck up to my partner too much. Will
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: is incredible. He just did. We just turned in his
- 1:19:26Speaker 5: first solo commentary ever for an amazing, two hour long,
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: just incredible film and very excited for people to hopefully
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: get that release eventually as long as the commentary makes
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: the disc That is a question because of the timing.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: But yeah, I hope the hope I can pimp that
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: one out soon on the show, because God, he busted
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: his ass on it and it's incredible.
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: Is it? Is it bad to say that, like, for
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: the first time, I'm actually intimidated to have somebody on
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: our show.
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: Yes, but only because I've been on the show twice.
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: I'm just kidding.
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: Basically, what I'm saying is I'm more anxious to have
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: Will on than I was Ryan numerous times.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: No, I get it. Will Will is Will is intimidating,
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: especially as a as a Hooper like professor. Literally, I
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: mean he's He's written the book on Toby Hooper and
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: to be able to get somebody to speak on Texas
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: Chainsaw too, like it is the probably the most Hooper
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: of Hooper films.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: So he he texted me and said, he said which
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: He said, which commentary? Which commentary do you want to cover?
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: And I said, well there's four, I said, so we
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: have to. You know, I feel like we got to
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: kind of hit all of them, and he was like,
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: well I can, I can talk in depth about all
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: four of them. I'm like, okay, well, all right, we'll
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: cover the longest episode and beyond the blood history. We'll
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: just break them all down with Will.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: It's wonderful.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: But yes, he's not intimidating. He's a big teddy bear.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: Yeah, No, yeah he does. He does give off big,
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: big teddy bear energy. You know. I just honestly, I
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: think we're just gonna sit back and just let him go.
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: Well, you might not ever get them to stop.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Well, we'll just well we'll go to bed and just
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: so I will talk and then we'll release.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: You'll wake up in the morning. And he's like, and
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: that brings us to the fourth commentary.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: Just let him go from that point, man, Just let
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: him go on. Yeah, we got a whole bunch of
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: stuff coming out. We got a bunch more movies to
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: pick about, to pick out and talk about. Yeah, I
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: think that I think that's just about everything. Thank you guys,
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Thank you Craig, Thank you Ryan for at the time.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: I thank you.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: I can't wait to be there. I can't wait to
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: give Ryan a hug. You know something I'm very much
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: looking forward to.
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: Better not be lying to me, my friend. I'm counting
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: on it now.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: I am not lying to you. Man. I hate flying too,
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: so you know getting me on a plane to come
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: out is.
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: Well, you don't have to fly. Let the pilot do that.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: Well, you made it almost the whole time without a.
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: Dead joke, So you waited that long.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Restraints our twenty nine minutes that joke popped up.
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: Oh gosh, it was pretty quick too. I got admit
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: that one was pretty good.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: That was really good. Yeah. On that note, oh my god, well,
