- 0:00Speaker 1: Trump warning moments ago, and I quote him, everyone should
- 0:03Speaker 1: immediately evacuate Tehran, as Iran is warning that a ninth
- 0:08Speaker 1: wave of attacks against Israel is now underway and will
- 0:11Speaker 1: continue until dawn. This is now the fifth night of
- 0:15Speaker 1: attacks between the two countries, and just moments ago, US
- 0:19Speaker 1: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posting on social media, and I
- 0:22Speaker 1: quote he said, I directed the deployment of additional capabilities
- 0:26Speaker 1: to the Middle East region. So what does that mean? Now?
- 0:29Speaker 1: We know that the US Navy Nimitz Carrier Strike Group
- 0:32Speaker 1: is already heading towards the Middle East right now, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: more US naval assets capable of defending against ballistic missiles
- 0:39Speaker 1: are expected to be moving into the Eastern Mediterranean closer
- 0:42Speaker 1: to Israel in these next coming days. The latest Iranian
- 0:46Speaker 1: attacks coming after the IDF for lease, these new images
- 0:49Speaker 1: of Israel destroying what it says or to Iranian fighter jets,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and earlier today an unbelievable moment unfolded live on Iranian
- 0:57Speaker 1: state television. Let me show it to you, Fasol jegoborold
- 1:03Speaker 1: is the US. I mean, it's starting to even watch
- 1:19Speaker 1: that Israel hit the headquarters of Iran State media. Now,
- 1:23Speaker 1: the IDF said that this wasn't a mistake. They said
- 1:25Speaker 1: it was a precise strike based on intelligence that the
- 1:28Speaker 1: building was being used for military purposes. On Iranian source
- 1:33Speaker 1: sent me these letters that Iran sent to the Secretary
- 1:35Speaker 1: General of the UN and the UN Security Council earlier today,
- 1:38Speaker 1: in which Iran demands immediate action following what it calls
- 1:42Speaker 1: Israel's quote, deliberate attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, and the
- 1:45Speaker 1: letter goes on to demand that the UN quote Israel
- 1:48Speaker 1: and its accomplice is fully accountable. Now, the accomplice is
- 1:52Speaker 1: the use of that word is a very thinly veiled
- 1:56Speaker 1: reference to the United States. But while the US of
- 1:58Speaker 1: course backs Israel at this point, clearly the two countries
- 2:01Speaker 1: are not entirely on the same page. As sources TELCNN
- 2:04Speaker 1: that President Trump opposed and Israeli planned I assassinate the
- 2:08Speaker 1: Supreme Leader, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin net Yahoo refused
- 2:12Speaker 1: to take that option off the table.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Today.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's not going to escalate the conflict, It's going to
- 2:18Speaker 3: end the conflict.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Lauren Lieberman is out front and Tel Aviv to begin
- 2:23Speaker 1: our coverage and Arin, what is the latest that you're
- 2:25Speaker 1: learning as we understand, and Iran is saying that missiles
- 2:27Speaker 1: will be coming to where you are from now all
- 2:29Speaker 1: the way till dawn.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Well, we at least got some sense of that just
- 2:35Speaker 2: a short while ago. We had to run to the
- 2:37Speaker 2: bomb shelter downstairs in the hotel about one hour ago,
- 2:40Speaker 2: where we spent twenty minutes there because of warnings of
- 2:43Speaker 2: more incoming, including here to Tel Aviv in the heart
- 2:46Speaker 2: of Israel. At least according to Israel's emergency responders, so far,
- 2:50Speaker 2: like Magendevida Dome, there were no impacts, so either those
- 2:53Speaker 2: missiles were intercepted or weren't able to strike the targets
- 2:57Speaker 2: and hit in either military or residential areas. That being said,
- 3:01Speaker 2: it's two in the morning here, so there are at
- 3:02Speaker 2: least four or five hours until dawn, and we saw
- 3:05Speaker 2: missiles incoming at about four in the morning last night,
- 3:08Speaker 2: so there's very much the potential for more ballistic missiles
- 3:12Speaker 2: and more drones as the night goes on here. Meanwhile,
- 3:15Speaker 2: as you pointed out, Israel has continued its strikes in
- 3:18Speaker 2: Iran and in Tehran. In addition to hitting Iran's state broadcaster,
- 3:22Speaker 2: they took out two aircraft on the ground and have
- 3:24Speaker 2: continued to go after other targets as well. Prime Minister
- 3:28Speaker 2: Benjamin Netanyahu has said so far israel strikes against Iran's
- 3:32Speaker 2: nuclear facilities have set the nuclear program back many, many years.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He wouldn't give a specific number on anything like that
- 3:40Speaker 2: how much they really have damaged the nuclear program, but
- 3:42Speaker 2: Israel's former defense minister told CNN earlier today that it
- 3:46Speaker 2: was some years that they had set the program back. Meanwhile,
- 3:49Speaker 2: there are rising casualties on both sides. Twenty four killed
- 3:53Speaker 2: so far in Israel. Meanwhile, a much higher death toll
- 3:56Speaker 2: in Iran two hundred and twenty four killed there, and
- 3:59Speaker 2: it doesn't look like this is going away anytime soon.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Iran has vowed it will not negotiate under attack. Meanwhile,
- 4:06Speaker 2: Netanyahu spoke of what he called quote complete victory. That
- 4:10Speaker 2: is a phrase we've heard in the war in Gaza,
- 4:12Speaker 2: which is past six hundred days now, and this fight,
- 4:15Speaker 2: although it's incredibly early here, shows no sign of an
- 4:18Speaker 2: off ramp right now, no matter what President Donald Trump
- 4:21Speaker 2: promises about perhaps finding a way to end this conflict.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Quote soon, all right.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Uren, thank you very much, Live and Tel Aviv. We'll
- 4:29Speaker 1: be checking back in with you this hour out front
- 4:31Speaker 1: now ofire Akunez, the Council General of Israel in New
- 4:34Speaker 1: York and console, I really appreciate your time. So just
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know, just start with you know, President Trumpet said, okay,
- 4:41Speaker 1: he's going to come back from the G seven and
- 4:44Speaker 1: he's going to get this over with. But then he
- 4:45Speaker 1: also said Tehran should be evacuated right now. Just to
- 4:50Speaker 1: take that statement, that one statement, Taran should be evacuated
- 4:52Speaker 1: right now?
- 4:53Speaker 4: Is he right? I will tell you one hour ago
- 4:56Speaker 4: they fired ten baalistick missiles toward hour Seville. Now they
- 5:01Speaker 4: want to cease fire after almost fifty years of saying
- 5:06Speaker 4: that they want to destroy us. Now we for your question.
- 5:10Speaker 4: We will accomplish our two goals, destroy their ballistic missiles
- 5:15Speaker 4: and nuclear capability. And that's what we are going to do,
- 5:19Speaker 4: even if will take weeks, even if it will take weeks.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Okay, So I just want to understand, as everyone wants
- 5:27Speaker 1: to understand more of what this means. So ballistic missiles,
- 5:30Speaker 1: nuclear program Let's talk with the nuclear programs.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We've got the.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Latest satellite images of Ford out which of course is
- 5:36Speaker 1: one of the main nuclear sites and the one that
- 5:38Speaker 1: is at least known to have substantial assets deep underground,
- 5:43Speaker 1: which was done in order to prevent Israel from bombing it.
- 5:47Speaker 1: It's very deep in the mountains, three hundred feet or
- 5:49Speaker 1: more underground, as we understand it. Okay, we understand Ana.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Let's keep telling us. It is the US that has
- 5:55Speaker 1: the so called bunkerbuster bombs that have the ability to
- 5:57Speaker 1: destroy an asset of that sort and only the But
- 6:01Speaker 1: I ask you ken, Israel destroy the Ford, our site
- 6:05Speaker 1: and that deep nuclear capability without us.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Hel First of all, we will not take we will
- 6:11Speaker 4: not take decisions for the American administration. We will do
- 6:14Speaker 4: whatever we can, and we are doing it to prevent
- 6:19Speaker 4: the itunas to hold a nuclear weapon. This is the
- 6:22Speaker 4: most dangerous thing to the Western civilization. And I'm talking
- 6:26Speaker 4: about this studio, this place, this city as well. So
- 6:30Speaker 4: we are trying to do it. We are doing very
- 6:33Speaker 4: well until now. We want first of all to defend
- 6:36Speaker 4: our people from their missions and from the nuclear weapon plan.
- 6:42Speaker 4: This is very dangerous to the world and to Israel
- 6:45Speaker 4: as well, and we are doing whatever we can to
- 6:47Speaker 4: prevent it, all right.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So I am just curious though, when your Prime Minister
- 6:53Speaker 1: says that the strikes so far have set back around
- 6:55Speaker 1: nuclear program a very very long time, many many years exactly. Quote,
- 7:00Speaker 1: why is that not enough?
- 7:01Speaker 4: It's not enough because we suppose that they are still
- 7:05Speaker 4: they are trying to progress their plan even though it's
- 7:10Speaker 4: almost a week that we are there during this operation.
- 7:16Speaker 4: We are not counting on them. We must be sure
- 7:19Speaker 4: that we'll accomplish our two goals, and we are not
- 7:23Speaker 4: sure yet about the nuclear sites we want to be
- 7:27Speaker 4: sure about. I suppose that there's more than two, but
- 7:30Speaker 4: you mentioned the two of them, and we want to
- 7:34Speaker 4: be sure that we'll accomplish our goals and then we
- 7:37Speaker 4: can say, you know, what we can do with the itolas.
- 7:41Speaker 4: We're not talking about the Iranians erin, we're talking about
- 7:45Speaker 4: the itolas. That's right, exactly.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I appreciate your time, Thank you very much. All right,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and I want to go now to the former Defense
- 7:52Speaker 1: Secretary and CIA Director Leon Panetta. And Director Panetta, you
- 7:55Speaker 1: just heard the console general there from Israel saying that
- 8:00Speaker 1: many setting back many many years, right, that that is
- 8:03Speaker 1: not what the goal is. The goal is more than that.
- 8:05Speaker 1: They want to get rid of the capability of a
- 8:07Speaker 1: nuclear weapon for Iran all together. And also then he
- 8:11Speaker 1: also made a distinction that it was beyond that that
- 8:14Speaker 1: it was also getting rid of the leadership of Iran
- 8:15Speaker 1: of the Ayatolas. What do you hear when you hear that.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Well, I hear two goals that are going to be
- 8:25Speaker 3: frankly difficult to achieve unless the United States goes to
- 8:31Speaker 3: war with Israel, which is not likely. But the fact
- 8:35Speaker 3: is that to go after their nuclear capability, you've got
- 8:40Speaker 3: to be able to go after these deeply varied facilities
- 8:44Speaker 3: at FORDO that can only be attacked what lo trusting
- 8:52Speaker 3: weapons that the United States has and be delivered by
- 8:56Speaker 3: a B two bomber. So to totally be able to about
- 9:00Speaker 3: their nuclear capability is just not going to happen if
- 9:04Speaker 3: it's left to Israel on their own. And with regards
- 9:07Speaker 3: to regime change, I think the problem there is that
- 9:12Speaker 3: it isn't that easy to achieve in Iran that you
- 9:17Speaker 3: can undermine their command structure. You can go after their
- 9:21Speaker 3: nuclear scientists, but the fact is, even if you go
- 9:24Speaker 3: after Kamane, there are going to be other hardliners that
- 9:28Speaker 3: will take their place. So I think Israel has to
- 9:32Speaker 3: think about just exactly what it is that they're trying
- 9:36Speaker 3: to achieve if they're trying to weaken Iran, that's an
- 9:39Speaker 3: achievable goal. Beyond that, I think it's going to be difficult.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So specifically regarding the Iatolas, and let's just talk about
- 9:47Speaker 1: the supreme leader, right the leading Aetola company and Prime
- 9:54Speaker 1: Minister Netanyah, who said killing him would not escalate the conflict.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It said he would quote the conflict. It sounds like
- 10:02Speaker 1: you disagree with that assessment.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think there's any question that getting rid
- 10:09Speaker 3: of Kamani is not going to suddenly result in regime change.
- 10:14Speaker 3: That's the bottom line. You know, you're talking about the
- 10:18Speaker 3: Kuds force, You're talking about a lot of hardline commanders
- 10:22Speaker 3: that are still very active in Iran. And the fact
- 10:24Speaker 3: is the more Israel bombs Iran, the more the Iranian
- 10:30Speaker 3: people will be concerned about trying to protect their own
- 10:36Speaker 3: Iran against Israel. So when you look at all of
- 10:40Speaker 3: these other factors, the bottom line is that achieving regime
- 10:47Speaker 3: change is not easy to do, cannot be done simply
- 10:51Speaker 3: by killing Kamane, and frankly, cannot be done simply by
- 10:57Speaker 3: the kind of missile attacks that are going on right now.
