- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome the one and only Sondra. What's your
- 0:09Speaker 2: last name?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Soandra Mason Mason to the podcast. We know Sondra because
- 0:14Speaker 3: she was epic. She was hilarious on The Golden Bachelor.
- 0:18Speaker 3: And she's rolling her eyes right now and shaking her head,
- 0:21Speaker 3: and I'm like, Sondra, do you know how amazing you
- 0:24Speaker 3: were and how we all I think you win this
- 0:26Speaker 3: superlative one we wish we saw more of.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Oh I didn't know that.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of cool, I think so. So he
- 0:36Speaker 3: just had like some really good one liners. Is there
- 0:40Speaker 3: anything that you were embarrassed of when it aired?
- 0:46Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:46Speaker 2: The fart?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Well, of course the fart.
- 0:48Speaker 3: So it was a twenty thirty second, very loud fart.
- 0:51Speaker 3: It was like basically the equivalent of the elf burp
- 0:54Speaker 3: an elf.
- 0:57Speaker 4: You know what you guys did not see is that
- 1:00Speaker 4: far Tola lasted a lot longer than they showed.
- 1:03Speaker 2: No, yes, how does that happen?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Well, you know, here's the thing that all that gas
- 1:08Speaker 4: came because I had gotten sick, oh you know, and
- 1:11Speaker 4: they had pumped me full of electrolytes and an ivy,
- 1:15Speaker 4: and I was distended. I looked four months pregnant, and
- 1:18Speaker 4: so I kept telling the reducer who was interviewing me,
- 1:22Speaker 4: we have to hurry, we have to hurry, we have
- 1:24Speaker 4: to hurry.
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's like and I heard a balloon.
- 1:27Speaker 4: I thought he had cut the feet. He said he had,
- 1:29Speaker 4: but he didn't, And so he kept and I kept
- 1:30Speaker 4: telling it, it's gonna come, It's gonna come. So y'all
- 1:33Speaker 4: didn't hear that, right, So anyway, I finally I had
- 1:37Speaker 4: to let go it just and then I was so
- 1:38Speaker 4: perturbed with him. That's why I looked at him and said,
- 1:41Speaker 4: you were saying.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Oh, thank you for the context. It is so amazing.
- 1:47Speaker 3: But I do need to say, like in the Bachelor mansion,
- 1:50Speaker 3: you get bloated more easily because you can't just like
- 1:53Speaker 3: far around your house because there's so many ladies around.
- 1:55Speaker 3: And then you get this big bubble of air in
- 1:58Speaker 3: your stomach and it needs to come out.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You got to take a nap or like get under
- 2:02Speaker 2: the covers.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but mine wasn't just ordinary again, Yeah, yours was.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I had all that stuff pumped into me, yeah, you know,
- 2:08Speaker 4: to help me feel better. But I know it was
- 2:11Speaker 4: epic like you said, I it is a love art lady.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I had a farting moment too that people will bring
- 2:18Speaker 3: up from Bachelor in Paradise.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I don't remember that.
- 2:22Speaker 3: It was like last year when Jared and I went
- 2:25Speaker 3: back and like apparently our fantasy suite was ruined because
- 2:28Speaker 3: I was gassy and I had a creamy Caesar. Do
- 2:30Speaker 3: you remember that cream I don look. Okay, So you're
- 2:33Speaker 3: a Bachelor fan? Yeah, oh yeah, So how long have
- 2:36Speaker 3: you been watching? And it's just so just mind blowing
- 2:40Speaker 3: to be in this house and to have been cast,
- 2:43Speaker 3: and to walk out of a limo.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yes, yes, and and I just couldn't wait to see
- 2:47Speaker 4: this mansion. Now I know the mansion. This mansion wasn't
- 2:51Speaker 4: the one they used. I don't think back when they.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Started, like trista house. It's been like fifteeneen years.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Okay, but anyway, I've watched since the beginning, and most episodes,
- 3:03Speaker 4: I must say, I don't think I missed many, and
- 3:05Speaker 4: I was fascinated with it, you know, young love and
- 3:08Speaker 4: romance and all that kind of stuff. But so you know,
- 3:12Speaker 4: when this opportunity came along, it was like why not.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Did you sign yourself up or did somebody else.
- 3:18Speaker 4: No, I signed myself up, literally, I can tell you, well,
- 3:21Speaker 4: never mind anyway, I signed myself up last November and
- 3:25Speaker 4: totally forgot about it. Just forgot about it.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Last September, last November, last November.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Okay, So this was like they had been casting for
- 3:34Speaker 3: a while because it got delayed for COVID and all that.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Yes, well that was in nineteen or twenty twenty twenty.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so this was first year, just.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Twelve months ago, okay, Yeah, And then totally forgot about it.
- 3:46Speaker 4: And in February I get this phone call from a
- 3:49Speaker 4: strange number that I almost did not answer, and had
- 3:52Speaker 4: a great conversation with this young lady and at the
- 3:56Speaker 4: end she says, well, do you have any questions for me?
- 3:59Speaker 4: We made appointment to talk with the casting director, and
- 4:03Speaker 4: she said, do you have any questions for me? And
- 4:04Speaker 4: I said I do. And I said, m what took
- 4:08Speaker 4: you guys so long? I'd only been through That wasn't
- 4:12Speaker 4: the most kind thing to say, but I said, I
- 4:14Speaker 4: totally forgot what took you so long? And she said, well,
- 4:16Speaker 4: miss Mason, she said, she said, we've had over twenty
- 4:20Speaker 4: thousand applications and you've made the first cut. So congratulations.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I felt so bad, I felt so small.
- 4:27Speaker 2: But your sassiness, she was sweet at get cast.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Is that what it is?
- 4:32Speaker 2: I think?
- 4:33Speaker 4: Okay, if anybody asked me, I'll tell them be sassy.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I think so. Yes.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So there was a lot of like chatter about the
- 4:41Speaker 3: fact that you missed your daughter's wedding to be here
- 4:45Speaker 3: on the show. But like, give us some contexts. I'm
- 4:48Speaker 3: assuming it wasn't like this huge, like two hundred person
- 4:53Speaker 3: ceremony where like your daughter walks down the aisle in
- 4:56Speaker 3: a big white dress.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And what was the situation?
- 4:58Speaker 4: Good assumption. Okay, No, my daughter's fifty one, her husband
- 5:03Speaker 4: is fifty three, fifty four something like that. He's a grandfather,
- 5:06Speaker 4: they've each been married before. I mean, this is not
- 5:09Speaker 4: like a twenty year old first wedding, white dress and
- 5:11Speaker 4: all that, like you said, it was at any rate,
- 5:14Speaker 4: my daughter, You know what I said on the show.
- 5:17Speaker 4: My daughter said, Mom, I've got my guy, you go
- 5:19Speaker 4: get yours. My son in law, bless his sweetheart, said,
- 5:23Speaker 4: mom our ceremony is eight minutes. Our marriage is a lifetime.
- 5:27Speaker 5: She said.
- 5:27Speaker 4: He said, let's celebrate the marriage. Go we're not celebrating ceremony.
- 5:32Speaker 4: We're going to celebrate the marriage.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Go yeah, and so in a situation, I went, yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 2: of course.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Here's the other thing too. They scheduled this date for
- 5:41Speaker 4: the wedding long before.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Was the a courthouse thing, well like a little like
- 5:47Speaker 3: a little like ceremony, very intimate.
- 5:49Speaker 4: There, a couple of people, very small. Yes, they didn't
- 5:52Speaker 4: need me there, you know, they just didn't. And they
- 5:55Speaker 4: were so more excited. They were more excited about me
- 5:58Speaker 4: and this opportunity than they were about this ceremony.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah you know, so yeah, oh yeah, how I remember
- 6:05Speaker 3: seeing your age and being like just absolutely mind boggles, like,
- 6:10Speaker 3: we need your beauty secrets. Okay, so wait you like
- 6:14Speaker 3: what you're seventy seventy five? Okay, that is okay, that's
- 6:18Speaker 3: what That's what really went over the edge for me.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Okay, it's seventy five Easton, Like, what what is this?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Like?
- 6:27Speaker 2: I've never seen something more mind boggling.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I think I'd look at her and say, fifty five
- 6:31Speaker 3: fifty fifty five.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Oh you guys are sweet, thank you, thank you.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Wow.
- 6:48Speaker 3: All right, so let's just talk about your dating life
- 6:51Speaker 3: since well, yeah, let's just talk about your dating life
- 6:54Speaker 3: since you were divorced. How has like what when were
- 6:58Speaker 3: you divorced? At what age?
- 7:00Speaker 4: At what age? Oh god, I don't know the age
- 7:02Speaker 4: I was. It was in ninety four? What age?
- 7:06Speaker 2: And I can do the man I want to do
- 7:07Speaker 2: them out over there.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So it was twenty nine years ago? Yeah right, I've
- 7:13Speaker 4: been single or unmarried for twenty nine years.
- 7:17Speaker 2: How was dating at that age?
- 7:18Speaker 3: And was it more fun today on the show than
- 7:22Speaker 3: it is in real life?
- 7:24Speaker 5: Oh?
- 7:24Speaker 4: Well, totally different experience. I mean I've never you know,
- 7:28Speaker 4: if I was dating guy, I don't. I didn't know
- 7:31Speaker 4: if he had more than one I mean, I didn't
- 7:34Speaker 4: know his playing field. Yeah. Yeah, I mean this is
- 7:38Speaker 4: obviously a different experience than most human beings have. Twenty
- 7:42Speaker 4: three to one. You know, was Gary your type?
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:51Speaker 4: I guess yeah he was, because well, because I've always
- 7:55Speaker 4: been attracted to Tom and my husband was tall. My
- 7:58Speaker 4: daughters are six feet tall. Wow, so you know I'm
- 8:01Speaker 4: their little mommy. So and my dad was tall. So
- 8:04Speaker 4: I've always been attracted to Tom AND's Gary was right there
- 8:07Speaker 4: in the in that range. And he's smart, sweet, As
- 8:13Speaker 4: I said on the show, he's a very gentle man,
- 8:16Speaker 4: and I like that. I don't like the bully types,
- 8:20Speaker 4: the big brownnie. I don't need that. And you know,
- 8:26Speaker 4: Gary has had a way of like he's like he
- 8:29Speaker 4: said tonight, I believe when he's with someone, he shuts
- 8:33Speaker 4: out everything else and he's right there with them.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's been a theme amongst all the interviews we've
- 8:38Speaker 3: done with the ladies, Like he really compartmentalized all the
- 8:41Speaker 3: relationship I did.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Now, most of our one and ones were not shown
- 8:45Speaker 4: on television, you know, forty three minutes. She can't show
- 8:48Speaker 4: everybody's one on one every week. It just doesn't work
- 8:50Speaker 4: that way. But we had some great chats and so
- 8:58Speaker 4: I got a little more tracted to him each time
- 9:01Speaker 4: I sat down with him, and because we talked a
- 9:03Speaker 4: lot of football and some other fun stuff and we
- 9:07Speaker 4: had we had a good time.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Nices.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So were you or were you surprised at who made
- 9:13Speaker 3: the top three or were you seeing that all coming?
- 9:17Speaker 5: Oh?
- 9:17Speaker 4: I wasn't surprised. I think most of us could predict,
- 9:22Speaker 4: not not necessarily predict, but along the way we could
- 9:24Speaker 4: see the relationships he was forming with the last three
- 9:30Speaker 4: and four that that you know, it was not a surprise,
- 9:33Speaker 4: maybe a little disappointment, but it wasn't a surprise.
- 9:37Speaker 3: What did you think about him expressing being in love
- 9:41Speaker 3: with all three?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Hmmm, well, super honest?
- 9:46Speaker 4: Can I be super honest? Part of me says, that's
- 9:50Speaker 4: the way the show is. That's that's he's not the
- 9:54Speaker 4: first bachelor or bachelorette to have done that. Yeah, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 4: to express feelings for more than one person. Yeah, I
- 10:01Speaker 4: wish it could be different, because it feelings get in
- 10:05Speaker 4: the way, people get hurt, truly hurt. But again, that's
- 10:08Speaker 4: the format of the show. And so I would think
- 10:12Speaker 4: that each one of them would know that going in
- 10:15Speaker 4: that and and they kind of express it as the
- 10:17Speaker 4: show goes on. Yeah, but he said he does me, yes,
- 10:20Speaker 4: but there's two others, or yes, but there's another one,
- 10:22Speaker 4: and I don't know what he's saying to the other.
- 10:25Speaker 4: So that's always in the back of their head, the
- 10:28Speaker 4: back of their mind, and so I don't know. It's
- 10:32Speaker 4: I have mixed feelings about that. Yeah, I mean that's
- 10:35Speaker 4: what gives the show its punch, and it's mystery, and
- 10:37Speaker 4: it's intrigue and and makes people tune in and and online.
- 10:42Speaker 3: The chatter is did make this season really unpredictable.
- 10:46Speaker 2: It did it did my last question for you is
- 10:49Speaker 2: quite fun? If there was to be the last question?
- 10:54Speaker 2: Can we just going? Is this fun? Could we will
- 10:57Speaker 2: have you back? Let's come back.
- 10:58Speaker 3: We're always looking for guests all the time, okay, and
- 11:01Speaker 3: especially ones that'll be really honest about what they say
- 11:04Speaker 3: on TV recap with us one day. Okay, okay, So
- 11:09Speaker 3: if there is a golden Bachelor in Paradise, we haven't seen,
- 11:14Speaker 3: you know, a group of men, because there's never there's
- 11:16Speaker 3: never been a golden bachelorette.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But if you were to cast a dream man to
- 11:20Speaker 2: land on the beach, what celebrity would he look like?
- 11:23Speaker 4: Denzale Washington did? I hesitate?
- 11:27Speaker 2: Ed, We're done.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I wish the camera was on her now. That was
- 11:31Speaker 3: an amazing response and great.
- 11:33Speaker 2: We all love Denzel.
- 11:35Speaker 4: We shout out to Paul Etta. I mean, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 4: with all due respect, he has a spouse.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, got a good choice. All right, Sore,
- 11:44Speaker 3: It's been a pleasure getting to know you more. You're
- 11:47Speaker 3: such a hoot and a beautiful woman. You're just so
- 11:52Speaker 3: so gorge all right, So guys, we'll have her back
