The Trial of Alcibiades: Athens' Most Dangerous General
In this episode, we explore the turbulent life and trial of Alcibiades, the charismatic Athenian general whose ambition nearly saved his city but ultimately destroyed him. We examine his role in the Sicilian Expedition, the scandal of the Hermae, and his eventual defection to Sparta. Through the lens of Thucydides and Plutarch, we uncover how political instability and personal vendettas turned one of Greece's greatest minds into a traitor in the eyes of his fellow citizens.
