- 0:01Speaker 1: Charging them out.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We're charging the mountain thanks to Fox One crowds. By
- 0:07Speaker 2: the way, Normally we do charge them mount at the
- 0:09Speaker 2: beginning of the show, but because your ex roommate just
- 0:11Speaker 2: had to be on right at eleven for his big
- 0:14Speaker 2: meeting at eleven fifteen, we're doing a little bit later today.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Why do you think I said he changed. I mean
- 0:19Speaker 3: he's totally changed. He's got more chins now, he's got
- 0:22Speaker 3: more watches now. He's always been swaggy. He's always been swaggy,
- 0:27Speaker 3: like there was no doubt when we got drafted. I
- 0:29Speaker 3: was in the hotel room first at the d It
- 0:32Speaker 3: was a day's in in Dunedin, and I'm there and
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm like, I have no idea what's going on. I
- 0:38Speaker 3: have like my mit and that's it. And this dude
- 0:41Speaker 3: rolls in with a whole bag of swag. He's got
- 0:44Speaker 3: cleats matching the Blue Jays collars, he's got batting gloves,
- 0:49Speaker 3: he's got wood bats already. He was swaggy coming out
- 0:52Speaker 3: of the University of Delaware.
- 0:55Speaker 4: What are the Blue Hens? The Blue Hens? So he
- 0:57Speaker 4: went from the Blue House to the Blue Jays.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Forever.
- 1:02Speaker 3: He never he never left the organization got fired always
- 1:05Speaker 3: be in Blue, became a coach, and now he's the
- 1:08Speaker 3: hefe hopefully getting them a World Series this year.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We'll see, we'll see a great run they had last year.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Speaking of the world, the world baseball class again did
- 1:16Speaker 2: last night croutzy? Is we know Venezuela. Congratulations of Venezuela.
- 1:19Speaker 2: What a game? Three to two decisions to be made?
- 1:22Speaker 2: I mean, where do we even start with this game?
- 1:24Speaker 2: First of all, McLean pitch well enough to win. The
- 1:26Speaker 2: USA offense didn't show up. I mean, Rodriguez and werdo Rodriguez?
- 1:30Speaker 4: Are you kidding me? Where the Diamondbacks are going? Where
- 1:32Speaker 4: the heck has this guy been for the last couple
- 1:33Speaker 4: of years.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I mean, I guess he needs some motivation or something.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I mean, you saw him in the look he's had.
- 1:40Speaker 3: He's had great runs. He's had great runs. There's a
- 1:43Speaker 3: reason he got the contract that he's got. But for
- 1:47Speaker 3: whatever reason, in Arizona you have for over two years
- 1:52Speaker 3: worth of innings off and on the field, he's had
- 1:55Speaker 3: over a five r Last night showed why winner take
- 2:00Speaker 3: a game seven whatever, elimination games, anybody can do it.
- 2:05Speaker 3: And he came in and he followed it seemed I
- 2:09Speaker 3: don't know how many pitches I was trying to think
- 2:11Speaker 3: while I was watching the game, how many pitches he
- 2:13Speaker 3: didn't execute, Like he was able to double up in
- 2:17Speaker 3: when he needed to, and then his change up was
- 2:20Speaker 3: in the exact location every single time. I think he
- 2:23Speaker 3: got away with one pitch that Aaron Judge didn't swing at,
- 2:26Speaker 3: but the reason was because he was executing all of
- 2:29Speaker 3: his pitches. To me, he was the MVP of the game,
- 2:31Speaker 3: not the whole tournament, but the MVP.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Of the game.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Agreed in Salvey too. Salvey deserves a ton of credit
- 2:38Speaker 2: for maneuvering him through some of those innings and some
- 2:41Speaker 2: of those batters and just leading this team right with
- 2:46Speaker 2: the sea on his chest. I mean, he just he
- 2:48Speaker 2: showed Wall why he is the captain of Team Venezuela
- 2:52Speaker 2: and a deserving Hall of Famer.
- 2:54Speaker 6: For me and for what I have, I don't feel
- 2:57Speaker 6: like we got enough in on the World Baseball Classic,
- 3:00Speaker 6: So let's cook AJ What else did we want to
- 3:03Speaker 6: say about it? I know we touched on it last
- 3:04Speaker 6: night on the postgame show, so I encourage everyone to
- 3:07Speaker 6: check that out.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It was great.
- 3:08Speaker 6: And then a little bit off the top of the show.
- 3:11Speaker 6: But what do you have for me on Venezuela.
- 3:14Speaker 4: They played great, they beat him, they beat the USA.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I mean, what else can I say?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Edwardo Rodriguez unbelievable, the pitching staff unbelievable.
- 3:21Speaker 4: Palencia my boy, like I said he would, he said
- 3:24Speaker 4: he would die for the Cubs. Well, imagine what he
- 3:25Speaker 4: do for Venezuela.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Just just a great job by them, a great team win.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Gino Suarez one of my all time favorite people to
- 3:33Speaker 2: talk to, getting the huge hit and you saw his
- 3:36Speaker 2: emotion after the game. And for USA, they just didn't
- 3:40Speaker 2: hit man. I mean, Nolan McClean pitched really well. The
- 3:42Speaker 2: bullpen came in and didn't really give up much until
- 3:44Speaker 2: the ninth inning. And as far as the Mason Miller
- 3:47Speaker 2: stuff goes in the ninth inning.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it.
- 3:50Speaker 2: But at the same time, it would have been third
- 3:52Speaker 2: time in five days Bednar was down. He was on
- 3:55Speaker 2: the same schedule, so I understand it. And it's not
- 3:57Speaker 2: like Whitlock sucks. Whitlock's pretty damn good. Look his numbers
- 4:00Speaker 2: and look how well he pitched the last time he
- 4:02Speaker 2: was out there.
- 4:02Speaker 4: So listen, just the lead off walk, the lead off walk, scored,
- 4:07Speaker 4: and that was a big mistake.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You got to make Luisa Rice hit the ball out
- 4:10Speaker 2: of the park right there, and unfortunately Whitlock walked him
- 4:13Speaker 2: and that was the run that scored. And then you
- 4:14Speaker 2: had the Dave Roberts play at second base where he
- 4:17Speaker 2: was just safe and you could argue was as safe
- 4:19Speaker 2: was he out?
- 4:20Speaker 4: I don't know, but Venezuela got the hit when they
- 4:23Speaker 4: needed to.
- 4:24Speaker 5: That's it.
- 4:24Speaker 2: USA didn't didn't offensively amount to what we thought they
- 4:28Speaker 2: would be, So hats off. I tip my cap to
- 4:31Speaker 2: de venezuel I'm happy they won because now I get
- 4:33Speaker 2: to hear from Ozzie Gehan for three years.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I mean, the thing that I love about this was
- 4:38Speaker 3: the fact that this spotlighted baseball in such a big stage. Yes,
- 4:43Speaker 3: it was the best players, but the fact that this
- 4:47Speaker 3: I think it could catapult us getting big league players
- 4:50Speaker 3: into the Olympics, because I think you sit there and
- 4:53Speaker 3: you go this is this is the kind of exhibition,
- 4:57Speaker 3: as AJ called it, that we really want to see.
- 5:00Speaker 5: All these tournaments.
- 5:00Speaker 3: When I played with them, and it was only minor leaguers,
- 5:03Speaker 3: people didn't really care at all, but the same feelings
- 5:07Speaker 3: were had out there. The same feeling of we need
- 5:10Speaker 3: to get this done. We need to win for our country.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Whether it's Venezuela, whether it's Panama, Colombia, Japan, US, it
- 5:17Speaker 3: doesn't matter. This made the game of baseball a worldwide
- 5:22Speaker 3: game like it is, and it showed on a huge stage.
- 5:25Speaker 5: So it needs to continue and it needs to be something.

- 6:44Speaker 2: Here we are, we're joined by the biggest insider in
- 6:47Speaker 2: the game, Ken Rosenthal. Fresh off is WBC Late Nights
- 6:52Speaker 2: with Team USA and Venezuela playing last night, Venezuela winning
- 6:56Speaker 2: three to three to two. Ken, what was it like
- 6:58Speaker 2: last night in that stadium? Talk to me about Venezuela
- 7:00Speaker 2: and USA.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Well, Aja, you experienced it when you were here as well.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It's great every night at low Depot Park for the WBC.
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's not always great when the Marlins are playing. In fact,
- 7:11Speaker 1: it's not nearly as great when the Marlins are playing.
- 7:13Speaker 1: But the atmosphere was great, crowd was great. The Venezuelan fans,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I don't want to say they topped the Dominican fans,
- 7:20Speaker 1: but it's neck and neck at the very least. And
- 7:23Speaker 1: they were so overjoyed, so happy. The players were so happy.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I don't know that anyone, even in a United States
- 7:30Speaker 1: fan could be upset with the outcome in the sense
- 7:33Speaker 1: that you could see the joy it brought to the
- 7:35Speaker 1: players and by extension, the country.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Ken.
- 7:39Speaker 2: First of all, we're presented by Fox one having Ken on,
- 7:41Speaker 2: and there's a Fox employee and Ken also a Fox employee.
- 7:44Speaker 4: We mean, how much we love Fox. So thank you
- 7:45Speaker 4: Fox one and get your seven for day free trial.
- 7:47Speaker 2: But how come people say they can't do an atmosphere
- 7:51Speaker 2: in Miami like this? No one likes baseball in Miami.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Nobody wants to come to the games in Miami. These
- 7:55Speaker 2: games were incredible. The atmosphere was incredible. The place was
- 7:58Speaker 2: sold out.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Why is it just from the WBC and not the Marlins.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Well, it's the team. And if the team ever gets
- 8:04Speaker 1: good again, and actually they're on their way, then maybe
- 8:07Speaker 1: you'll see something resembling that atmosphere. Now we should say this,
- 8:12Speaker 1: it's the WBC. It's a different environment. The players, especially
- 8:17Speaker 1: from the Latin American countries, will tell you that this
- 8:19Speaker 1: means more to them than in some cases even the
- 8:22Speaker 1: World Series. So it's that way for the fans too.
- 8:26Speaker 1: A regular season baseball game between the Mami Morons and
- 8:29Speaker 1: even the New York Yankees will never have that kind
- 8:32Speaker 1: of Jews. It's just not the same level of intensity
- 8:35Speaker 1: postseason baseball closer. But I would say the crowds here
- 8:40Speaker 1: and the crowds in twenty twenty three were even more
- 8:43Speaker 1: intense than almost every crowd of experience in the postseason.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Philly's really good, Toronto is good. At the end, La
- 8:50Speaker 1: is good. But this is different, and you could see
- 8:53Speaker 1: the difference watching on TV. I would imagine you could
- 8:56Speaker 1: hear the difference as well.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Thousands of postgame interviews, You've done interviews with players in
- 9:06Speaker 3: different situations, World Series, all that stuff. Can you feel
- 9:10Speaker 3: the emotion that he was putting out there after his
- 9:14Speaker 3: country won?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yes, and that was to me extraordinary that interview. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: I know he of course spoke a lot about his
- 9:24Speaker 1: religion and his faith, and some people get offended by that,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but man, it was just such a pure reaction. It's
- 9:32Speaker 1: who he is, obviously, and yes, I could definitely feel
- 9:37Speaker 1: I would say, the intensity of his reaction and just
- 9:40Speaker 1: how happy he was. And it was a cool interview
- 9:43Speaker 1: to be a part of. And in general, those players
- 9:47Speaker 1: carry themselves, of course, with a lot of class, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: there's some of my favorite people in the game, soal
- 9:52Speaker 1: Perezjeneo Suarez, Luis Raise. These are some of the best
- 9:56Speaker 1: guys I know. And again I was happy for them.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I was happy because I knew how much it meant
- 10:02Speaker 1: to them. We could all see how much it meant
- 10:04Speaker 1: to them. It didn't take much to figure that out.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And in that postgame interview, his joy radiated, his passion radiated.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And it seems to me I didn't I haven't watched
- 10:16Speaker 1: it back yet, but I would imagine it was almost
- 10:19Speaker 1: like he was jumping out of the screen because it
- 10:21Speaker 1: was that cool.
- 10:23Speaker 5: That's what it looked like.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Now, these are all young, the players are all young,
- 10:26Speaker 3: even Salvi, even any of the players that are up
- 10:28Speaker 3: there in age. But you had on the bench, you
- 10:31Speaker 3: had Miguel Cabrera, you had Omar Lopez, you had Robinson,
- 10:35Speaker 3: Schirinos and Para and rugenet o'door was coaching third base.
- 10:40Speaker 3: What did it mean to those guys or did it
- 10:42Speaker 3: mean more to the players, because all of those guys
- 10:44Speaker 3: were like the people who blaze trails for these Venezuelan players.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It seems to me, Eric it meant a ton to
- 10:52Speaker 1: all of them. And I believe we showed Miggy crying
- 10:56Speaker 1: Mickey Cabrera. I don't know that we've ever seen that.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And they were all so desperate, it's not the right word,
- 11:04Speaker 1: eager to do this for their country. And we all
- 11:07Speaker 1: know Venezuela has gone through some really difficult times that
- 11:10Speaker 1: played into this. It certainly played into the emotion, but
- 11:14Speaker 1: there's also a love for their country that they have,
- 11:17Speaker 1: and it's their family and friends and relatives back home
- 11:20Speaker 1: that they were playing for as well. And it's true
- 11:22Speaker 1: of all countries, true of the US. The guys there too.
- 11:26Speaker 1: It's just the cultural difference between the two. They show
- 11:31Speaker 1: it more than our guys do. It doesn't mean our
- 11:33Speaker 1: guys are wrong, doesn't mean they care less, doesn't mean
- 11:35Speaker 1: they love their sport less or their country less. They
- 11:38Speaker 1: love it as much, but it's just a different way
- 11:41Speaker 1: of expressing yourself. And again that outpouring in addition, not
- 11:48Speaker 1: just from the players and coaches and staff on the field,
- 11:50Speaker 1: but in the stands.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It was incredible, guys, Ben, I'm never gonna I've never
- 11:56Speaker 2: seen this many people cry on a baseball field of joy,
- 12:00Speaker 2: tears of sadness, you know whatever. Happy for Venezuela, happy
- 12:04Speaker 2: for the players, Like you said, Salvi Perez, Maggie Johann Santana,
- 12:09Speaker 2: Omar Lopez, Arise. They just have some Suarez. They have
- 12:13Speaker 2: some really good guys on their team, and the US
- 12:15Speaker 2: has good guys on their team.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Also.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Can we put to bed the narrative, please, that the
- 12:21Speaker 2: US didn't care as much as the other teams because
- 12:25Speaker 2: just because they didn't show it, and they play a
- 12:28Speaker 2: different game than what the US people are brought brought
- 12:31Speaker 2: up playing, right, it's more emotional, it's more showy, and
- 12:34Speaker 2: that's fine, that's the way it is. But we saw
- 12:36Speaker 2: when Bryce Harper hit the home run, pointing to the
- 12:39Speaker 2: patch on his sleeve, right, blowing the kisses, doing this salute,
- 12:42Speaker 2: all the things. Can we please put that narrative to
- 12:45Speaker 2: bed that the US doesn't care as much.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Actually, I tried to on the broadcast the other night,
- 12:49Speaker 1: and it's a ridiculous narrative. And it's so funny to
- 12:53Speaker 1: me aj ten fifteen years ago, when we were still
- 12:57Speaker 1: in the period where the unwritten rules ruled right, the
- 13:02Speaker 1: reaction of players from Venezuela, Dominican Republic, all the guys
- 13:05Speaker 1: who would act like they did, some Americans too, that
- 13:08Speaker 1: was looked down upon. Now, if you don't act like that.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It's looked down upon. And the idea that these guys
- 13:14Speaker 1: didn't care and weren't trying to win as hard as
- 13:17Speaker 1: they could, it's absurd. They cared a lot, and they bonded,
- 13:21Speaker 1: and they relished being part of this team. They relished
- 13:25Speaker 1: being with each other, They relished representing their country. And
- 13:31Speaker 1: if you want to look at this question from a
- 13:32Speaker 1: different perspective, Okay, because the US beat the Dominican Republic,
- 13:36Speaker 1: does that mean the US cared more than the Dominican Republic. No?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Did Venezuela win last night because they cared more than
- 13:42Speaker 1: the US. No. It was a baseball game and people
- 13:47Speaker 1: expressed themselves differently. One of the beauties of this tournament,
- 13:51Speaker 1: in fact, Bryce spoke to this last night, is that
- 13:55Speaker 1: we get to celebrate the diversity of baseball cultures. We
- 13:59Speaker 1: get to see and experience all the different cultures in
- 14:03Speaker 1: this game, this beautiful game that is played around the world.
- 14:07Speaker 1: When I say that, I mean the culture is from
- 14:09Speaker 1: the Asian countries, the cultures from the Latin American countries,
- 14:12Speaker 1: and yes, the culture from our country. They're all different.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And you know what different is beautiful. It makes the
- 14:18Speaker 1: world go round, and it's just such a cool thing
- 14:21Speaker 1: that the WBC brings us to see all of these
- 14:24Speaker 1: different things go on. I just love it for that reason.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And again, to say that the US players didn't care
- 14:31Speaker 1: is one of the bigger fallacies I've ever heard. It's absurd.
- 14:35Speaker 2: By the way, much loved the Bryce Harper also for
- 14:37Speaker 2: going over and shaking the Venezuela players hands after they
- 14:40Speaker 2: had won.
- 14:40Speaker 4: That was a cool moment.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I know not everyone does it, but for Bryce to
- 14:44Speaker 2: think of that at the time, very cool moment that
- 14:48Speaker 2: people got to see that that, you know, it was
- 14:50Speaker 2: much respect for what they did. And also, Ken, can
- 14:52Speaker 2: you imagine how much fun I would have had if
- 14:54Speaker 2: I got to play in an era where you could
- 14:56Speaker 2: batflip and talk a little trash And I mean, can
- 14:59Speaker 2: you imagine, Ken, how much fun and how many good
- 15:01Speaker 2: stories you could have wrote about me about all the
- 15:03Speaker 2: crazy stuff I would have done.
- 15:04Speaker 1: He Ja. The thing is, people don't realize if you
- 15:06Speaker 1: were ahead of your time, right thank you. You were
- 15:10Speaker 1: a guy that, yes, played with a lot of passion,
- 15:13Speaker 1: and sometimes it ticked people off and sometimes it didn't whatever,
- 15:17Speaker 1: But we all know that everybody has to not just
- 15:22Speaker 1: on a baseball field, but in real life, go according
- 15:25Speaker 1: to their own personality. You gotta be yourself, and that's
- 15:28Speaker 1: what everyone in this tournament was being. And it seems
- 15:31Speaker 1: to me the tournament gives players a better opportunity to
- 15:36Speaker 1: express themselves. Dante Boschett Junior played for Team Brazil. He
- 15:40Speaker 1: kind of mentioned that early in the tournament. It's kind
- 15:43Speaker 1: of like, do what you want and let it out,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and that's cool, it's cool. It wouldn't work, I don't know,
- 15:49Speaker 1: over one hundred and sixty two games, because it's too
- 15:51Speaker 1: long a season. You can't ride that emotional high. But
- 15:54Speaker 1: this is a sprint and this is an intense period
- 15:58Speaker 1: of baseball and an intense emotional time for all of
- 16:03Speaker 1: these players. So from that perspective alone, while the WBC
- 16:07Speaker 1: is flawed in any number of ways, I always tell
- 16:11Speaker 1: people and I'll say it again, and I think it
- 16:13Speaker 1: holds right now. You watch the games, you get it,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you understand you have.
- 16:19Speaker 3: To be who you are. Then that means a manager
- 16:21Speaker 3: like Mark de Rosa has to be who he is.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Is the fact that everybody was being who they were,
- 16:28Speaker 3: that everybody was, you know, expressing themselves differently, The fact
- 16:32Speaker 3: that Tmusa actually was caring. We heard it here first.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Ken Rosenthal broke that news like shouldn't he should he
- 16:39Speaker 3: be back next year? I mean next time, next time
- 16:41Speaker 3: they have the WBC because of the fact that he
- 16:44Speaker 3: enabled these players to be who they were and they
- 16:46Speaker 3: just came up short or should he be to blame
- 16:49Speaker 3: for some of this quote failing because they didn't finish
- 16:53Speaker 3: the job.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I have a hard time blaming him for this. And
- 16:57Speaker 1: two times now that he's managed, they went to the
- 16:59Speaker 1: ninth inning of the championship game. It's pretty good baseball.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Nothing he did strategically
- 17:07Speaker 1: had a dramatic impact, and I thought he had a
- 17:09Speaker 1: really good game strategically against the Dominican Republic. The one
- 17:13Speaker 1: thing he wanted to do was just what you refer to, Eric,
- 17:17Speaker 1: create this culture of players that cared about each other,
- 17:21Speaker 1: that brought the best out of each other, that became
- 17:24Speaker 1: a team in every sense of the word. And I
- 17:27Speaker 1: never got to this on the broadcast and I never
- 17:29Speaker 1: wrote it just didn't work out. But Adam Waynwright, who
- 17:33Speaker 1: was of course a member of Team USA in twenty
- 17:36Speaker 1: twenty three, had a great perspective on DeRosa, and he
- 17:39Speaker 1: called him after DeRosa made those mistaken comments, the one
- 17:43Speaker 1: about qualifying for the quarterfinal before they qualified for the
- 17:48Speaker 1: quarterfinal and the other one which he got criticized for
- 17:50Speaker 1: when he said the players were dragging. That was not
- 17:52Speaker 1: a great comment. What Rainwright told De Rosa is, hey man,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you are a guy as a manager who makes players
- 18:03Speaker 1: love being in the WBC, love the game, more, invest
- 18:08Speaker 1: in their teammates more. That is who you are and
- 18:11Speaker 1: I would agree with that. That is who DeRosa is
- 18:14Speaker 1: and he succeeded in that in a very very big way. Now,
- 18:18Speaker 1: should it be back, some people might say, well, you
- 18:22Speaker 1: need somebody different. He hasn't won twice. Okay, somebody can
- 18:26Speaker 1: say that that's fine. I could see it going either way.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But in my view, he rallied this team when they
- 18:34Speaker 1: had that crisis after Italy crisis that was in part
- 18:37Speaker 1: due to his comments. And they came back and they
- 18:41Speaker 1: beat Canada, they beat the Dominican Republic, and they nearly
- 18:44Speaker 1: beat Venezuela.
- 18:46Speaker 3: And I want a couple I want to build off
- 18:48Speaker 3: of what you said that US cares, but I also
- 18:50Speaker 3: want your comment on it. Did you see the players
- 18:53Speaker 3: taking off their silver metal as they were leaving the
- 18:57Speaker 3: field after they got it, And to me as a player,
- 19:01Speaker 3: that means they cared a lot. They wanted to win
- 19:04Speaker 3: and second place wasn't good enough.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I saw Mason Miller do that. I wasn't watching every player,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and I was a little surprised. It's a silver medal,
- 19:12Speaker 1: it's nothing to be ashamed of. But I am certain
- 19:16Speaker 1: that there is a burning desire among some of the
- 19:19Speaker 1: younger players, Mason Miller perhaps in particular, to come back
- 19:23Speaker 1: the next time there is a WBC, assuming there is one.
- 19:25Speaker 1: It has to be agreed upon by the league in
- 19:27Speaker 1: the Union and win this thing, and win it in
- 19:31Speaker 1: a big way. Now it's tournament baseball. There is some
- 19:34Speaker 1: randomness involved in the small samples. We all know that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: But yes, the US players, I am certain that some
- 19:41Speaker 1: of them feel like, Okay, I'll be back and we're
- 19:44Speaker 1: gonna win the next time, and that's what you want.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Over the years, the participation from the US players has
- 19:51Speaker 1: grown almost exponentially, and you had a situation in this
- 19:55Speaker 1: tournament where really all of the best players wanted to
- 19:58Speaker 1: play for Team USA. So I would expect that would continue,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and I would expect that maybe the next time. The
- 20:06Speaker 1: overall passion that we're going to see from these guys
- 20:09Speaker 1: just about joining the team is even greater than it
- 20:12Speaker 1: was this year, and it was pretty darn great this year.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So yes, Eric, it left a bad taste. It was
- 20:19Speaker 1: one of those deals where almost like in the playoffs,
- 20:22Speaker 1: when you see guys watching the other teams celebrate and
- 20:25Speaker 1: they keep it in their head. It seemed like there
- 20:28Speaker 1: was some of that last night.
- 20:30Speaker 2: That's a good thing, Ken, That's a good thing for
- 20:32Speaker 2: the team USA. They've only won one of these, so
- 20:34Speaker 2: they need to let's go. Let's go as a patriot
- 20:38Speaker 2: and someone born in the United States, and we need
- 20:40Speaker 2: the USA to win a couple more of these to
- 20:41Speaker 2: get even with the rest of the world. You mentioned
- 20:44Speaker 2: the CBA, and you mentioned this is something that's negotiated.
- 20:47Speaker 2: After the game last night, Rob Manfred was there handing
- 20:49Speaker 2: out medals along with Bruce Meyer, who.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Was ahead of the Players Association.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Do you think they negotiated while they were standing there
- 20:55Speaker 2: at home plate handing out the medals. Do you think
- 20:57Speaker 2: that was the start of the negotiation. If they can
- 21:00Speaker 2: agree to stand in a circle, you know, fifteen by
- 21:03Speaker 2: fifteen circle, can we get them in a room to
- 21:05Speaker 2: start the negotiations.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Please Ange, I don't believe they were negotiating last night.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Why not.
- 21:11Speaker 1: It's almost a triumph to see them standing in within
- 21:15Speaker 1: I don't know, ten feet of each other and not
- 21:17Speaker 1: like sniping at each other because of the relationship between
- 21:20Speaker 1: these parties over the years. But negotiations are expected to
- 21:24Speaker 1: start some time after opening day. Now. Do I expect
- 21:27Speaker 1: any deal to be done before the expiration of the
- 21:29Speaker 1: CBA December first? Absolutely not. It's just the nature of
- 21:34Speaker 1: these negotiations. It's the way it's going to go. I
- 21:37Speaker 1: do remember back in two thousand and six, it was
- 21:40Speaker 1: my first year at Fox, they got an agreement. It
- 21:44Speaker 1: was in October, and I remember before a World Series
- 21:47Speaker 1: game interviewing on the field Don Fear and Bud sealing
- 21:51Speaker 1: about the CBA that was agreed upon before it expired
- 21:55Speaker 1: during the World Series. It is possible. I just don't
- 21:59Speaker 1: expect it to happen.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Ken.
- 22:01Speaker 2: You're you're the ultimate mediator. Look at you bring everyone together.
- 22:04Speaker 2: You're just you're just great at it. At lease all peace,
- 22:07Speaker 2: love and peace, Ken love in peace right for Ken Rosen.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Well, that's Ken Rosenthal. Thanks for joining us. Safe travels.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Wherever you're off to, Ken, I think we'll see you
- 22:15Speaker 2: in San Francisco next week, is all right, Yankee san
- 22:18Speaker 2: Francisco for the first game on Fox Baseball Night in America.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Mike Battle week and a half away.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Ken, my game can't even make the graphics, so I mean,
- 22:25Speaker 2: my Royals Braves game can't even make the graphics. So
- 22:28Speaker 2: you know some of us, some of us are here
- 22:30Speaker 2: and some of us are down here. Kay, Yes, I know, Gratzy,
- 22:33Speaker 2: I apologize, but it was nice. So thanks Ken, safe travels.
- 22:36Speaker 2: We'll talk to you soon, and uh, good luck on
- 22:38Speaker 2: your notebook next week. Thanks aj Hey.

- 23:10Speaker 4: Eric the calendar. Here's the calendar of our tour. They're
- 23:14Speaker 4: all check marks except for one.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I'm seriously have a tear in my eye because I
- 23:18Speaker 2: won't get to hang out with Mark anymore, and I
- 23:21Speaker 2: might actually be able to get a free dinner that
- 23:23Speaker 2: I have that I don't have to pay for from
- 23:26Speaker 2: someone else because Mark makes me buy dinner every night.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And now here we are at the end and we
- 23:30Speaker 2: only have one more day after today. Are you as
- 23:32Speaker 2: sad as I am that this is coming to an end.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I'm really not sad about it because I love the
- 23:38Speaker 3: fact that you've been getting. I'm not sure how many
- 23:41Speaker 3: free dinners you actually have to pay for, Like, I'm
- 23:43Speaker 3: not sure what you meant by that, Like, well, I
- 23:45Speaker 3: meant that I have to pay.
- 23:46Speaker 2: For dinner and I can actually get a free dinner
- 23:48Speaker 2: now because Mark.
- 23:48Speaker 3: We know, we know that's not true. We know that's
- 23:51Speaker 3: not true. But I'm glad you're gonna be able to
- 23:53Speaker 3: get to go home, even though you spent the entire
- 23:55Speaker 3: month in your lovely state of Florida. And I love
- 23:59Speaker 3: that we get to finish it on a high note
- 24:01Speaker 3: with the best spring training facility that I was ever
- 24:05Speaker 3: a part of. Clearwater is the best place to watch
- 24:08Speaker 3: a game. I don't know why not the facility, players wise,
- 24:11Speaker 3: but like stadium wise. We just talked about it last night.
- 24:14Speaker 3: My favorite stadium has always been Clearwater. I don't know why.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Something about Frenchies in left field, something about the you know,
- 24:22Speaker 3: as far as like facilities, it's not like the nicest,
- 24:26Speaker 3: but something about Clearwater. It just it was always packed,
- 24:30Speaker 3: just a good atmosphere for me.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I agreed, it was always fun that one time I
- 24:35Speaker 2: went there to play away game. It was fun as
- 24:39Speaker 2: a brave No, not as a brave as a red song.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I actually I actually requested to go there as a
- 24:44Speaker 2: red Song because I could drive home and then I
- 24:46Speaker 2: could go back.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I went on all the road games.
- 24:48Speaker 2: That's why David Ross and I are friends, because I
- 24:50Speaker 2: went on all the road games and he got to
- 24:52Speaker 2: stay at home because I wanted to go because I
- 24:54Speaker 2: could go home to Orlando and then I could meet
- 24:56Speaker 2: the team. And it was actually easier for me to
- 24:57Speaker 2: do it that way. But anyways, let's get to our
- 25:00Speaker 2: season preview of the Toronto Blue Jays did defending American
- 25:03Speaker 2: League champions from twenty twenty five. They're back, they have
- 25:06Speaker 2: some new players, Yes, they have a lot of their
- 25:08Speaker 2: guys back, but they're missing some guys.
- 25:09Speaker 6: You know, they.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Got some dudes, that's for sure.
- 25:15Speaker 4: They do they listen.
- 25:17Speaker 2: They have Gosman back obviously, but then you had you Savage.
- 25:21Speaker 2: They have Max back, they have Baber. Where's Barrios at?
- 25:24Speaker 2: Starting pitching? Is their strength?
- 25:26Speaker 4: Do you still think it's the strength of this team
- 25:28Speaker 4: in twenty twenty six?
- 25:28Speaker 3: Scratchy Yeah, I mean this whole, this whole run that
- 25:33Speaker 3: they've made. When you talk to like a Kevin Gosman
- 25:36Speaker 3: and you go, Okay, he's been here for this is
- 25:38Speaker 3: fifth season. I think he signed a five year, one
- 25:41Speaker 3: hundred and ten million dollars deal. The way that they've pitched,
- 25:44Speaker 3: the fact that they're starting pitchers. They all went out
- 25:47Speaker 3: and made all their starts the one year I forget
- 25:50Speaker 3: what their what their starting rotation era was. It was incredible.
- 25:55Speaker 3: But the reason it was incredible was because their defense
- 25:58Speaker 3: was incredible. You had throughout this time. You've had Platinum
- 26:02Speaker 3: Glove at third base. You've had Andrea Samenez at second
- 26:06Speaker 3: base for a little bit of this. Now he's gonna
- 26:08Speaker 3: shift over to Now he's gonna shift over to shortstop.
- 26:11Speaker 3: You've had Dalton varshow which was a trade that Blue
- 26:15Speaker 3: Jays and Shapiro and the front office got a flat
- 26:19Speaker 3: got a lot of flak for because they brought Dalton
- 26:21Speaker 3: varshow in and Gabrielle Moreno went over to the Diamondbacks
- 26:25Speaker 3: and almost won a World Series. And you say, oh,
- 26:28Speaker 3: how can you get rid of that when you don't
- 26:30Speaker 3: know what you have behind the dish. Now, Alejandro Kirk
- 26:33Speaker 3: has a goal glove. Like you sit there and you go,
- 26:36Speaker 3: this team is build around pitching in defense, and I
- 26:40Speaker 3: think they doubled down on it again because they added
- 26:43Speaker 3: more depth to their starting rotation. Did they add like
- 26:46Speaker 3: four Dylan Ceases. No, but they went out and got
- 26:49Speaker 3: what some would have said was one of the top
- 26:52Speaker 3: two or three pitchers in the free agent market. So
- 26:56Speaker 3: they added to that depth, which they know they were
- 26:59Speaker 3: losing Bass. They didn't know the health of Barrios, they
- 27:03Speaker 3: didn't because of how the season ended, They didn't know,
- 27:07Speaker 3: you know, they didn't know what they were going to
- 27:08Speaker 3: get back with Bieber. They just keep adding to it.
- 27:11Speaker 3: But I think the reason this pitching does so well
- 27:13Speaker 3: is because they're good. But this defense is what has
- 27:17Speaker 3: really really helped this pitching and helped them hopefully stay
- 27:21Speaker 3: healthy and make another run.
- 27:23Speaker 2: The one thing they do like in Toronto is guys
- 27:25Speaker 2: that'd make all their starts. That's why Dylan Seasid I
- 27:27Speaker 2: think fit really well. Berios has always made his start.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Kevin Gosman's another guy that makes a lot of his starts.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Bieber you know when he's healthy, obviously he can be
- 27:36Speaker 2: one of the best. Max we all know it could
- 27:38Speaker 2: be one of the best. Cody Ponce has made his
- 27:39Speaker 2: starts in Korea in the last couple years. That's the
- 27:42Speaker 2: kind of people that they look for when they bring
- 27:44Speaker 2: in guys. Here's something I want you to look at,
- 27:45Speaker 2: Thoughcratsey for Fangrafs the division standings that projected standings. I'm
- 27:49Speaker 2: a little surprised by this that the Blue Jays only
- 27:51Speaker 2: eighty four point eight wins. They won ninety four games
- 27:54Speaker 2: last year, and I feel like they yes, they lost Bobushit,
- 27:56Speaker 2: but I feel like they improved.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I think this number is low for me.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Can I can?
- 28:03Speaker 3: I mean just because if I would, if you would
- 28:05Speaker 3: tell me, just in a vacuum, the Blue Jays are
- 28:07Speaker 3: gonna only win eighty four games, I would say, WHOA,
- 28:11Speaker 3: that's way under But when you look at where they
- 28:13Speaker 3: project the rest of the wins, they're really just with
- 28:17Speaker 3: these wins win projections, they're just projecting the fact that
- 28:20Speaker 3: they have the toughest division. They have a division as
- 28:25Speaker 3: just going to beat each other up. When you think
- 28:28Speaker 3: about the fact that the Rays are not a pushover
- 28:31Speaker 3: and they have the least amount of projected wins in
- 28:33Speaker 3: this do I think the division is going to be
- 28:35Speaker 3: a little bit more spread out? Yes, I think the
- 28:37Speaker 3: Rays are probably more like a seventy five win team,
- 28:40Speaker 3: But from there the Orioles to the Yankees, Blue Jays
- 28:44Speaker 3: and Red Sox in the middle here, I think each
- 28:47Speaker 3: one of these teams can win ninety games. So who's
- 28:50Speaker 3: gonna do it? Is the Blue Jays? Is the blue
- 28:53Speaker 3: Jays defense going to take them that next step?
- 28:55Speaker 5: Is that?
- 28:57Speaker 3: Is that starting rotation depth going to give them enough
- 29:02Speaker 3: of these victories? Is there is there bullpen deep enough?
- 29:06Speaker 3: I don't know, but it's in the American League East.
- 29:08Speaker 5: And it's just not gonna be any time to breathe.
- 29:11Speaker 3: And so I think where that number is, I think
- 29:14Speaker 3: that's why they have it, But I think it's a
- 29:16Speaker 3: I think it's a low number. I see them more
- 29:18Speaker 3: as like the eighty eight to ninety one win type
- 29:21Speaker 3: of team.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Okay, but then which one's more right here? Is it
- 29:25Speaker 2: fangrass eighty four point eight or bet mgm. I'm more
- 29:27Speaker 2: on the bet mgm eighty eight point five list. If
- 29:30Speaker 2: I'm looking this as an outsider looking at the Blue
- 29:33Speaker 2: Jays win projection, I think BETMGM is going to be
- 29:35Speaker 2: closer to the number than fangrafs.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I agree. I agree. I think it's gonna be tough
- 29:40Speaker 3: to win. Win to me, eighty four way low for
- 29:45Speaker 3: this team, Are you kidding me?
- 29:48Speaker 5: Waylow?
- 29:48Speaker 3: But again I think that's how That's why fangrass. When fangrass,
- 29:52Speaker 3: you know, they're usually they're usually missing those projections Pakoda projections.
- 29:57Speaker 3: They usually go lower for everybody because not everybody can win.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Not everybody can win ninety plus games, Like the division
- 30:04Speaker 3: will not all win ninety plus games, and it could
- 30:06Speaker 3: hurt them making it to the playoffs, especially when you
- 30:09Speaker 3: talk about the AL Central having some teams that you
- 30:14Speaker 3: might have one team that does really good out of
- 30:16Speaker 3: the AL Central and then some other teams that could
- 30:19Speaker 3: win eighty four to eighty six games and possibly not
- 30:22Speaker 3: be as good as an American League East team, but
- 30:25Speaker 3: these American League East teams have to play each other
- 30:27Speaker 3: thirteen times. I think it's I think it's definitely. I
- 30:36Speaker 3: think it's definitely one of those things that is important
- 30:40Speaker 3: to look at when you were projecting the season. But
- 30:42Speaker 3: to me, it will be based around this lineup. This
- 30:45Speaker 3: lineup did not strike out, did not strike out last year,
- 30:51Speaker 3: and they are bringing back the similar type of players.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Alkamoto is going to be an.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Incredible addition to this team, But how does John Schneider
- 31:00Speaker 3: give them the best ability to everybody stay healthy and
- 31:04Speaker 3: ready to go? All right, we'll be back with fasten All.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Fasten All where industry meets innovation. Want to learn more,

- 31:15Speaker 3: n A L dot com. Anytime you get a victory
- 31:27Speaker 3: when it wasn't a victory, that's a victory. We'll go
- 31:30Speaker 3: over our picks from yesterday, and clearly we all thought
- 31:36Speaker 3: us was gonna win. Fortunately I knew it was going
- 31:39Speaker 3: to be an under. So that's pretty much how all
- 31:40Speaker 3: my picks are going to be this year. But I
- 31:43Speaker 3: get the green check. Actually I got it at plus
- 31:46Speaker 3: money because if you look into bed MGM app they
- 31:49Speaker 3: were doing a lot of WBC boosted odds. They're giving
- 31:53Speaker 3: you different boosted odds throughout the week. But big victory
- 31:57Speaker 3: for me. It's an okay, okay loss for you, bad
- 32:00Speaker 3: for us.
- 32:06Speaker 2: I was never I mean I was. Was I gonna
- 32:08Speaker 2: take Venezuela? No, I mean no chance. I was betting
- 32:12Speaker 2: with your heart, not with your head, is what it was.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And I went with my heart and I lost. But
- 32:15Speaker 2: it happens.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Stuff happens.
- 32:18Speaker 5: But good thing.
- 32:18Speaker 2: We get to restart in a couple of days for
- 32:20Speaker 2: our locks for the season. Who, as we all know,
- 32:22Speaker 2: I am the champion of.
- 32:25Speaker 3: You are kind of the champion. Maybe this year we'll
- 32:27Speaker 3: run it a little bit different, so it's not just
- 32:29Speaker 3: about money bags you but really for the people. But
- 32:32Speaker 3: we'll revisit it with producer Lady once we get to it.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it.
- 32:37Speaker 4: What do you mean? I mean? At the end of
- 32:38Speaker 4: the day, isn't it who has the most money wins.
- 32:41Speaker 3: It's that is that is some people get to their
- 32:44Speaker 3: money a little bit differently. But all that to say,
- 32:48Speaker 3: bet MGM is offering players the opportunity to win a
- 32:52Speaker 3: share of two million dollars in bonus bets if they
- 32:56Speaker 3: correctly pick the Cavender twins Haley or Hannah that wins
- 33:00Speaker 3: the quarter Legends event at the Bank in Las Vegas
- 33:04Speaker 3: on April fifth. This is how you get it. You
- 33:07Speaker 3: opt in, You pick a twin to win free to
- 33:09Speaker 3: play a game. Then you select which Cavender twin, Haley
- 33:13Speaker 3: or Hannah you think will win the quart of Legends
- 33:16Speaker 3: won on one basketball game. If the twin you select
- 33:18Speaker 3: wins the game, you win a share of listen to it,
- 33:21Speaker 3: two million dollars in bonus bets.
- 33:24Speaker 5: We're right back.
- 33:40Speaker 2: We're back with slop pans. We had a great show here.
- 33:44Speaker 2: I want to thank everybody at the Blue Jays and
- 33:46Speaker 2: here in dun Eden. Even though Kratz complains that the
- 33:48Speaker 2: stadium isn't here, I like it because everyone's contained in
- 33:50Speaker 2: a small area, even though it's a giant complex and
- 33:53Speaker 2: a giant clubhouse. But thank you to everyone at the
- 33:57Speaker 2: Blue Jays, John Schneider, Kevin Gosman, who else we have,
- 34:00Speaker 2: Max Suerzer, Shane Bieber, Mark Shapiro, thank you, Thank you
- 34:04Speaker 2: for guys coming out and tomorrow Krowts, I can't believe it.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's our last, our last day of spring training camp.
- 34:11Speaker 2: No more Fastenal calendar, no more Fastenal sponsorship for the
- 34:15Speaker 2: spring tour. Well, we're at your favorite place tomorrow, and
- 34:18Speaker 2: I know you're not gonna miss it because we are
- 34:20Speaker 2: at the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow.
- 34:23Speaker 5: I'm not gonna miss it.
- 34:24Speaker 3: But it's just like AJ with batting practice, one more,
- 34:29Speaker 3: one more and only only players understand that joke. But
- 34:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with my Kratz Hats the team I
- 34:35Speaker 3: got drafted by. It's kind of a love hate relationship
- 34:38Speaker 3: for me because of different things that have happened throughout
- 34:41Speaker 3: my career. Chances not chances, traded, not traded, all that stuff,
- 34:46Speaker 3: but have they settled on a beautiful, beautiful logo which
- 34:50Speaker 3: throughout AJ's time, the Jays have changed changed more logos
- 34:55Speaker 3: than I changed teams.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Let's go Loue Jay, Let's let's play play ball, the
- 35:04Speaker 2: weirdest song, the funnest song. But at the end of
- 35:07Speaker 2: the daycrats an awesome place at Roger Centers. So if
- 35:10Speaker 2: you haven't been there, go there. Thank you Blue Jays.
- 35:11Speaker 2: We'll see you guys tomorrow.
