- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Well, hey Johnny, thank you so much.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: And Jeff, great to be back in the studio.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: It's great to be back in Omaha.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Were were you not in town?
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know if we talked about this, but I I was out of town for a few days.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: I I don't know if you knew this, but you know, you remember Meg, my my high school, junior high, high school girlfriend, you know.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Well, she got married again, and not to me.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: You know, Jeff, I I gotta tell you, I always thought that when she got married again, it would be me.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: You know, except for the fact that she didn't want to marry me and that I was already married.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: But despite I I still thought it would kind of be me somehow, you know, you know what I mean?
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I kind of thought that too.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Anyways, who did she marry?
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: Did you did you know the guy?
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Yes, Jeff, I did.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: You remember when we were on, when we had her on, we talked about uh Eddie Solomon's bar mitzvah?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:10unknown: Sure.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: She married Eddie Solomon.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I went through my old friend Eddie Sai.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: She married Eddie Solomon.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I didn't know she was Jewish.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: We went to well, she is now.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: She went to his bar mitzvah, you know.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: Jewish by intercourse, isn't that what one of the things?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Just by by well, I I I've heard Jewish by injection.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I've heard by injection.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: But uh turns out Eddie saw me, we picked right back up where we were years ago, and he asked me to be his best man.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: So I I went down, I went to Oakala, Florida.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Went to the wedding.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's beautiful, it's a beautiful place.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: I I think this one's gonna work for Meg.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Just if it doesn't, Meg, if you're listening, if it doesn't, I'm always here for you.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Oh I used to think that if Meg and I got married, we had a wedding, we'd have it back at our old junior high.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: And you know, the lunch lady with the with the heart the strong arm that we were talking about, she'd she'd cater it, you know, corn dogs or pizza.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Now we wouldn't want to go on Thursday because Thursday, by Thursday, you know, they do hamburgers Monday, then they do lasagna Tuesday, then they do tacos Wednesday, or maybe it's the other way around.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: And then by the time you get to Thursday, they're still using the same meat from Monday, but they got to disguise it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: So they put it into like a spaghetti sauce or into a minestrone soup or something.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, no, you don't, Thursday's out, but yeah, corndog's pizza, maybe pizza Fridays.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Hey, I can't maybe do that.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: You know, perfect.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Uh Steve, I I never realized how sentimental you are.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: And I think that's wonderful.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: What was the wedding like?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Like, was it a religious wedding?
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: Well, uh, you know, funny stance, I I think it was, but it was kind of a tradition that I wasn't real familiar with.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: It's this tradition where they have the best man dance with the new bride.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: And of course, I was always happy to dance with Meg.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I tell you, it didn't go so well.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: What happened?
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Uh well, see, it turned out big fight broke out during the ceremonial dance.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: The ceremonial dance, it's really it's not you're not dancing, but it's ceremonial, right?
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: So yeah, so big fight broke out during the ceremonial dance, and you know, I it it may have been my fault.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, Eddie, Eddie was pretty upset.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: If he knew this, he wouldn't have picked me as his best man.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sorry to hear that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: So what was the fight about during the ceremonial dance?
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: Part of the ritual is you get pretty close.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Meg was pretty close to me.
- 3:27unknown: Uh huh.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And I guess we got maybe a little carried away, a little bumping, a little grinding, you know, just kind of and Eddie Eddie was getting mad.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Eddie was getting really mad.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: He got so mad, in fact, that he, and I never knew that Eddie was this kind of guy, but he hauled off and he kicked Meg right between the legs.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Like right, you know, where between the legs?
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, oh yeah, right between the legs.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Jesus, that must have really hurt.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, it sure did.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Broke three of my fingers, too.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Wow, that really did hurt, huh?
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: You know, I was gonna ask you because your hand is still wrapped.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: So that must be what happened.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Otherwise, though, everything went okay with the wedding?
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, other than that, and we we made up later.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: And other than that, it was great.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of love in that room for sure.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: But I, you know, I gotta tell you, Jeff, it really made me think back to when I thought maybe I was finally gonna get a hold of Meg.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Not down there, uh, but you know, on the when she was up for the show, is what I meant, you know.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, up for the show, and we we we had that sort of little bloom, a little flame, a little fire.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: A little spark.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: It was very steamy in the studio, as I was.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: It was.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Of course, we we we did the show in a sauna that week, but it was but it was very steamy, yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it it was a great show from what I remember, and and obviously there was love in the air.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: And oh yes, yes.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Too bad that we didn't have the the same tradition as as Eddie's wedding.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Oh, that would have been something to see.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: And that would have been great.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: I don't mean the kicking part.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: I mean you know, yeah, no, the part the pre-kick.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's kind of like football, it's the pre-kick.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: You know, Jeff, as long as we're talking about this, if if you don't mind, I'd like to listen to that episode again.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And I know a lot of these, these our listeners, let's face it, Jeff, the millions, a lot of our listeners have not heard that show.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm glad you're you brought that up because I want to hear the show as well.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: I you know, I was not at the wedding and always felt really good about Meg.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: And I think this was love between the two of you that never made it past the lunch line, but could have.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: And I'd like to kind of I'd kind of like to hear the episode too and kind of hear those sparks again.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: And I'm all on board.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: All right, Johnny, play that episode.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: Tonight we have a special guest.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: We talk a lot about some of the big issues, the big crises that people are dealing with.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: But I thought for tonight, kind of like last show where we talked to some like a just a regular person, you know, I thought tonight we'd make it a little more personal.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: I've got somebody on our show tonight who is an old friend of mine, in fact, an old girlfriend of mine.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: I'd like to introduce, and you can wave your shit on the other side of the glass, say hi.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: You're here.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Let me tap the glass here a little bit.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: You're that?
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: I I'm gonna say hello to Elizabeth Parker.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Elizabeth, or should I call you Megan?
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, Steve.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Steve.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: It's been a long time, hasn't it, Meg?
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: It's it's been a minute, yeah.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: It's been a minute, yeah.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: Hi, Megan.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: I this is this is a treat for me because I've been on a date with Steve.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: No, I wasn't dating Steve, but we've been on a double date before.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And I found it fascinating and it it really stuck with me.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: It was back when I was in my teens.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: So I'm really interested to know what it's like being uh the girlfriend to to Steve.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Well, well, well, Jeff, Jeff, this was right shortly after that double date you're talking about is when Meg and I met.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: So not too far after that.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: So Meg, what was it like?
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, I know what it was like, but but tell Jeff, what was it like?
- 7:00SPEAKER_05: You know, it it it was a minute ago.
- 7:03SPEAKER_05: And and just for the record and and for the audience, girlfriend, that could maybe that was like a stretch.
- 7:11SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Oh well, I was pretty limber back then.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Anybody that I've had sex with in my life, I consider my girlfriend.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm not saying that you did with Steve, but you know, I know Steve was very promiscuous back in his you know early years.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Let's keep it PG here, Jeff.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: You know, this is okay.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: We have we have those kids.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Listen, remember all those kids?
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: The zero to five demographic that all those advertisers want.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: You know, if we make it too too adult, we'll lose that demographic, we'll lose the big ads for the for the gumballs, the children's medicine.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, yeah, we don't want to do that.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Don't want to do that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: So did I say promiscuous?
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: I meant arithmetic.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what I meant.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: You meant precipitous.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: Precipitous.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: That's exactly what I meant.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: But but but I digress.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: But but Elizabeth or Meg, gosh, going out with me, that was what was that like?
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, what what was that like?
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Uh you know, that that was that's a great question.
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: And I I just really I appreciate you reaching out to me on Facebook and asking me to be on your show.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, and and listen, thanks for coming on because you know, we haven't talked in a while, and I I really, I really did mean to call you.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know, all those years ago, but you know, but but but I digress.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: But uh, you know, I'm trying to remember.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: We went out, gosh, we must have gone out for two months, was it?
- 8:41SPEAKER_05: Okay, yeah.
- 8:45SPEAKER_05: Maybe well, no, it was my sense of time, you know, it's it was a little, it was a while ago.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to remember it might it might be like a biblical two months.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: You know how like in the Bible, it's like a week is really 10 years.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Maybe it was less than two months from that standpoint.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Elizabeth, are you married now?
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Uh do you have family?
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: You have a family now that you know all these years have passed.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: What's been going on with you?
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: I was married to uh a wonderful person um that we're not married anymore.
- 9:18SPEAKER_05: And I have two kids, two boys, Brody and Jaden, and they're fantastic.
- 9:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Wow, wow, gosh, a lot's happened, hasn't it, there, Meg?
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah wow, man.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Say you didn't marry somebody that that we knew back in the day, did you?
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: Peter?
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: Do you remember Peter?
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Peter Peter, Peter Baskin?
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: I think Peter Baskin.
- 9:41SPEAKER_05: Peter Baskin.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: You married Peter Baskin?
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: I didn't.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: I married Peter Baskin.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Wow, yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_05: Do you remember his locker?
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: It was kind of like kind of right by our lockers.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he'd like jam like all my books in the locker and he'd jam random stuff in the locker.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And and one day he broke off, he got this key at the hardware store and broke it off in the locker, and so I couldn't open it.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Peter is a swell guy.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: I remember Peter, yeah.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: And and where do you guys where do you guys live now?
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Or I'm sorry, I know you're you're not with him anymore, but where where do you live now, Elizabeth?
- 10:13SPEAKER_05: I live in Ocala, Florida.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: Oh, wow.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Horse country, capital of the horse industry.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Your Facebook's at Austin, Texas.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: So I'm wondering about that.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: But okay, but I digress.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't matter.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I I'm trying to remember.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: We like some of the great dates we went on.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Oh man, we went some cool places, didn't we?
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: I at least I seems like we did.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: I I'm I'm trying to remember.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Do we we went out?
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: Let me think, maybe was it twice we went out?
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: Well, I remember standing next to you in the lunch line every day.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was always count as dates.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: So we went out hundreds of times, probably, you know.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Did he did he buy?
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Did he buy lunch?
- 10:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's I don't I don't really remember.
- 10:57SPEAKER_05: That was it was a while back.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: No, but no, I I'm I'm very progressive.
- 11:02SPEAKER_05: I I might have ended up buying his lunch a couple times.
- 11:06SPEAKER_05: I think I remember yeah, he needed a little bit of some change.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: I did, I did see, see, see how progressive I am.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I let her buy me lunch, yeah.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: More than once, too.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you, more than once.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: I'm kind of surprised that it it didn't last.
- 11:20SPEAKER_04: I I think we were maybe 17.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had to be because I was driving my dad's old Pontiac, you know.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Remember that Pontiac Convertible?
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh, that was a great car, wasn't it?
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: So, Steve, you were so you were what a freshman?
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: 17.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Um, what would I have been?
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: I you know, I I I don't know.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: I I don't know, you know, I I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the class designations because I've really not never been that labeling in class distinction, you know what I mean?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: And and I didn't pay a lot of attention to the classes or the class requirements or the education part of all that, but I was really there more to meet people like Meg, you know, to really have lunch and relate and have lunch.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: I love lunch.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: I still love lunch, I've always loved lunch.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Lunch is great.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: That sometimes I ask Kathy to wear one of those nets, hair nets that the lunch ladies wear.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: Um, when I was there's nothing hotter, see them slop on like mashed potatoes, you know, that are almost like soup.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: It it just brings back so many good memories.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Funny you should say that because one day, one day at school, I don't know if you remember this, Meg, but one day at school, I drove my mom's all 65 Impala, you know, and you know how I feel about that car.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Who still to this day?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: And one of the lunch ladies was coming out right as I was leaving.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: She was leaving and she still had the hairnet on.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: And oh my gosh, between the Impala and the hairnet, I practically hit like a I was going like two miles an hour.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: I practically hit a car.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: It was more than I could handle.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you're you remember that, Meg?
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: I think you, I think you were in the car with me, were you?
- 12:54SPEAKER_05: I I I have I think I do remember that.
- 12:57SPEAKER_05: I don't I don't know if I was necessarily with you, but I I think that that was kind of circling around that you almost hit Lucy, our lunch lady, the yeah favorite lunch lady of the entire school.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Oh oh yeah, she was like like those bartenders with the heavy pour, you know, she had a heavy spoon on the uh on the mac and cheese, you know.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: She'd get the mac and cheese.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Most of most of them would give you like a little bit.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Oh Lucy, yeah, she'd slap it out of there.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: So she'd give you more than you could eat sometimes, you know.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: It was good.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: She was really good.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: She was great.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and the best part was at least ours.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: I was in a different school, but you'd flirt a little bit with them and they'd throw a little extra mashed potatoes your way.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: And yeah, sometimes an extra fish stick, you know, would would end up on your plate.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: She'd give you a little wink, you know, kind of made my day.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Well, you see, I was I was always really bad at flirting, as you know, Meg would probably tell you, but I used to have Meg do the flirting.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Meg would flirt with Lucy, and then we'd both get like the benefits.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: It was really cool.
- 13:57SPEAKER_05: Lucy was I I for lunch almost every day I had nachos, and she'd give me a little extra nacho cheese.
- 14:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, no, no charge.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: Man, those were the days, weren't they?
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Just got that extra nacho cheese.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Because you got, hey, I got some, I got another spoonful of nacho cheese here.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: That the liquid, and that stuff's good, man.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: That's a healthy for you.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Speaking of food, Jeff, we have a repeat sponsor, we have a returning sponsor, somebody that not only bought an ad, but bought another ad.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, they came back, they came back, and it's a perfect sponsor because it's been like a hundred degrees and no rain and drought and all this.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: And what's the perfect food you want when it's a hundred degrees outside?
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Soup.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: You want hot Vietnamese soup.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: That's exactly right.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Because it's kind of like being a contrarian, you know.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: You think when it's cold, everybody's gonna want that soup.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: But no, I'm gonna get it now, and then I will have it when it's costless now, when it's hot, and then when it's cold and everybody else wants it, you know, I'll probably have to buy more because I'm I'm gonna eat it.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: But but but I digress, but you it's still being like a contrarian, you know what I mean?
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: Let's go to commercial.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: If you want the best Vietnamese pho soup in the metro area, try some hearty pho at the King of Asian Fusion, Pha King.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: Bring your friends and enjoy the pha king ambience.

- 16:07SPEAKER_01: It's not just good, it's fa king good.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: 100 degrees or no hundred degrees, I want some hot Vietnamese soup.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: Nothing better than that.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: And you know, it's isn't that the way I'm not a biology expert or a scientist or anything, but you get some of that hot soup on a hundred-degree temperature weather, and you you just automatically start cooling down as just the sweat pours down your face.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: It's it kind of it kind of equalizes you, you know?
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: It does, it's like drinking coffee on a hot day.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just it's it it works, but I digress.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Megan, I I don't think I ever met your parents.
- 16:46SPEAKER_01: We were so close in high school, and I don't think I ever met your parents.
- 16:51SPEAKER_05: I don't even know if you came to my house, Steve.
- 16:56SPEAKER_05: I did you come to my house?
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Let me think.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Wait, oh, you know what?
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: You're you're not in that big white house, are you?
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: You were in I don't know if I did.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: Where where your house was we were in different neighborhoods, weren't we?
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I I lived in the yellow house on the corner.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Oh Bueller Street.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember the house.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: Drove by there sometimes.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: I almost hit somebody in front of that house one time, too.
- 17:20SPEAKER_01: But that's that's a different story.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't think I was ever in that house.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: Are your parents still alive?
- 17:26SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, they they still live in that yellow house on Bueller Street.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, tell me.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we should do a remote, a remote podcast.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we'll go out to the house, tell them hi for me.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, you know, I don't know if they, you know, know who I am or even knew who I was then, but tell them hi.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: You know, I I will definitely make sure that now that you're semi kind of famous with your own podcast, I'm sure they'd love to listen.
- 17:55SPEAKER_05: And I'm sure they'll they'll probably listen to this since I'm on the air with you.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I bet they will.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: I bet they will.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: And and so Jeff, we can start to to develop that that older demographic because you know, we're pretty old, and we really should start developing an older demographic, you know, as we get older, you know.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: I know exactly what you're saying.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: Megan, I I'm just gonna take a shot here.
- 18:20SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't know you very well.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: I've only been speaking to you for what about 15 minutes or 20 minutes.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Sounds like there's still something there with Steve.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: I know Steve's married, I know that you're not, but it sounds like you still, you know, have that interest in Steve.
- 18:38SPEAKER_02: And my feeling, my philosophy is you you need to really go for it, even if it doesn't happen right now.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Love is something that you just can't waste and you should never forget about.
- 18:48unknown: Yeah.
- 18:50SPEAKER_05: You know, if he wasn't married, maybe because you know, when you're divorced and and you're our age, you know, that dating pool kind of gets pretty shallow.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: That's a big drought, big drought there.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let me tell you.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I well, he's in Nebraska too.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I I don't know, Steve, uh uh the marital laws in Nebraska, I think it's probably okay that she starts joining you and your and your current wife.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: There is a small loophole in Nebraska law that if you are a direct descendant of a settler, that you can have multiple wives.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: It's it's a narrow road, you know, you got to drive very pretty carefully down that road, but there is that exception, so it's theoretically possible.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and Megan, half of Steve is well, I don't know what that is.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: Would that be a quarter with anyone else?
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: That'd be about a quarter of your basket.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's uh okay.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, I'm not good with uh with measurements.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: I've never been, you know, much of a baker, but but I think it would be worth your while and maybe ought to just pack things up from Ocala and start heading west.
- 19:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:54SPEAKER_05: Maybe we could just start like a little bit of a long distance chat before I go back to the snow.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: That would be good.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: We could start talking about old times, about the lunches and all those times we spent together, which I'm kind of hoping you remember some of them because I I was thinking we we saw each other a lot, but it was mostly like, hi Elizabeth, hi Steve.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: You know, sometimes no memory is kind of a good memory, yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: I went to a party in the 80s, I have no memory of, and I am really glad that I have no memory of that party.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, sir.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: I sure am.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, Steve is shy about this, doesn't like to brag, but I don't know back when you were dating him.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: Was he able to tell the future?
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: You know, because he can he's really good at that right now.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: And you know, Steve probably has a little bit of insight as to where this relationship could eventually go.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Did I tell you back then that I was from the future?
- 20:49SPEAKER_05: I'm not certain that I remember that.
- 20:53SPEAKER_05: Or you know, when I was a I just thought that made you a little crazy.
- 20:57SPEAKER_05: I'm not yeah.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, I was, but you know, when I was a kid, I used to hide it.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: My parents told me, Don't tell anybody that you're from the future because they'll think you're nuts.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, don't do that.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: And so I kind of didn't, I did a little, but I I didn't make a big deal about it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: Maybe I didn't tell you.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't, I'm not so sure.
- 21:19SPEAKER_05: I remember that.
- 21:19SPEAKER_05: I think that would have been something that I would remember, you know, something that would stand out in my mind.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: And oh, I would think so.
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: Future, Steve.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: Well, Megan, Elizabeth, I'm I'm I'm from the future.
- 21:34SPEAKER_05: That's fantastic.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: Isn't that though?
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: I it's a burden to know what's going to happen.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: And sometimes I can tell people, but sometimes they're better off not knowing.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Right, Jeff?
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Like your medical records.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, don't don't look, don't look.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: That's so true.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: Absolutely true.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: And so Megan, it sounds like you guys are off to a good start.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I mean, I know there are some complications, there are some hurdles.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, I could feel the flame is still there.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: I can feel the heat from that flame.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: I would be surprised at all if somewhere down the road, Steve, you would know this more than me, whether this show will become the Steve and Jeff and Megan podcast.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: I I could see that happening.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: We should reserve the name, but I it's it's a little cloudy.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, most of the time I can see pretty clearly, but this is a little cloudy.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: But I think we are on to a good start.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Yes, I think we are, because we're talking about the real things, talking about the the emotions, talking about the feelings, talking about the experience, and and that can only be good.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: It yeah, I can I ask a question, future Steve.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 22:43SPEAKER_05: Should I buy the lottery ticket tomorrow?
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: If you can get to Taylor Liquors in Des Plains, Illinois, you should definitely buy the ticket.
- 22:53SPEAKER_05: Okay, I'll have to Google that drive.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: It's worth the trip.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: It'd be worth an airline ticket.
- 22:59SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Two airline tickets, in fact.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's a good price.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: Taylor Liquors, Des Plains, Illinois.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: I think it's on uh I think it's on River Road.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: I I it's been so long since I've been there.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: I I don't remember.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: You'll find the carry the full line of Mogan David wine too.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: So I know I've been there for that.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: You know, they sell it in those jugs, those gallon jugs that's like well, Mogan David.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: That's really you know, when it's really the good since the high holidays, I just can't get enough.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's why they call it the high holidays, you know.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: You're knocking them back and doing some edibles.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's kind of emotional to see an old girlfriend that maybe okay, maybe we never really went out in the technical sense of the word, but but still of the high school, you mean out of our lunch line, right?
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we we pretty much stayed in line.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: We're you know, we were good kids.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, there were some bad kids.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Peter, uh, you know, he was one, he's one of the bad kids, as you found out, right?
- 24:00SPEAKER_05: I I learned my lesson there.
- 24:03SPEAKER_05: There you go, see?
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you should have asked Future Steve back then.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: It's like, hey, should I marry this guy?
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Go no, no, do not, no.
- 24:10SPEAKER_05: Maybe I shouldn't have been laughing when I saw him breaking off keys in people's lockers and could have learned my lesson there.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: It was impressive, you know, because he was on the lacrosse team, right?
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Lacrosse, right?
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, so everybody thought he was a big dude, right?
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: But see, history, history tells, time tells.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: It's interesting, you know.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: In time, all is revealed.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: And right now, I'm feeling a combination of love in the air and also a desire for Patty Melt.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: You know, I remember those patty melts.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: Oh god, that's they were just the best.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure exactly what was on top of it.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: I think we we went to school with Patty Melt too.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Her name was uh Patty Melatonin back then, I think was she shortened it, you know.
- 24:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I remember, I remember Patty.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I think she shortened it when she formed the rock group, you know.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 25:01SPEAKER_05: I think Steve, she's gonna is she playing at our at our reunion?
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: A reunion's coming up?
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, I have to reserve a spot at the reunion.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I think she is playing at the reunion.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I thought I saw that on Facebook, maybe.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Patty Melt and the cheeseburgers.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my they're they are, you know, it's it's kind of a it has a Susie Quantra ripoff a little bit, but they're good.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: I mean they're okay.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Excellent.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Well, it's it's been wonderful meeting you, Megan.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: This has been very enlightening.
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: Steve, I'm yeah, so impressed with the the quality of women that you've shared lunch with.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Megan's just the best.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and there's it's just the luck of random locker assignments.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: Our names aren't even alphabetical or anything, but there we were.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: We had lockers next to each other.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, I think they learned their lesson.
- 25:51SPEAKER_05: Remember a couple years before us when they did have lockers by alphabetical order, and then all the carries got in that big fight.
- 26:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, they were they were a miserable bunch, weren't they?
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: I remember them.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness, yeah.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, everybody fought with some some carry.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: I fought with probably two of them, I think, like over the years, you know.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: Gosh, I'm I'm feeling so prophetic here with this touch with the past and then thinking toward the future.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: I'm not supposed to be a prophet for a couple hundred years now, so I I I'm not sure what to do, but I really think that this could go somewhere, Megan.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean, I think we could find a cafeteria maybe and go to lunch.
- 26:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, maybe a cafeteria into plain Illinois.
- 26:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: You know, Taylor Liquors, they got a there's a buffet right next door.
- 26:45SPEAKER_01: One of those old old country or old Dixie or whatever, one of those buffets, you know.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, they're going right next door.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And I bet, you know, I bet they have a heavy hand too with the mac and cheese, you know.
- 26:56SPEAKER_05: That's the nice thing about buffets.
- 26:58SPEAKER_05: I guess you can get as much as you want.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: It's like relationships.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: I bet that's right.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: They're so similar.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: So profound.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: You know, you stand online for a long time, but then once you get there, you can grab it all.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: And you know, you heard that here first, okay?
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: That MMA guy, he's not giving out philosophy like that.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Oh no, no, no.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: He's just sitting there, I did an edible.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: This guy's funny.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: This guy's not funny.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: You know, I come on, come on.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: We're talking real issues here, real people.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Elizabeth, so good to see you again.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: We'll get to that diner.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: I hear a cafeteria in our future.
- 27:34SPEAKER_05: Thanks so much.
- 27:35SPEAKER_05: Thanks for reaching out on Facebook and inviting me to be on your show.
- 27:39SPEAKER_05: It's it was a surprise.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: You know, I love surprises, and listen, tell your parents to listen.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: That could double our audience, really.
- 27:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm sure they will, I'm sure they'll listen for sure.
- 27:50SPEAKER_05: Cool.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: That episode brings back so many memories, Jeff.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: It does.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: It was exciting, it was dramatic, it was thought-provoking.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: And then I'm just talking about your story about the wedding.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: But the episode I thought was was great.
- 28:06SPEAKER_02: And I really hope that it works out for Meg.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: But if it doesn't, I really hope she comes back on the show again.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, I yeah, I'd love to have her back on the show.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: And you know, Jeff, I think, I think we should take the high road with all this.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, I wish it had been me instead of Eddie Solomon.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: I just really hope it works for her.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: And I think we should be the bigger people and get them some things for their wedding.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: You are sentimental.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, yeah.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, well, because I didn't I see I didn't bring a gift when we went down there, so I feel like I gotta get her something now, you know?
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: So, Johnny, what do we have for Meg and Eddie Solomon?
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Right, Steve?
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Eddie and Meg can celebrate their marriage and memories with a designer-inspired and hastily gold-plated heavy lead spoon.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Their mashed potato plates will be full every time they turn their wrists on the 28-ounce size capacity of this work of art.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: And it comes with a special blue velvet sleeve in case they don't want to limit its use to the kitchen.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: All theirs from the SM collection, like everything else, now owned by the Y brand of companies.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Like they always say, don't ask why, just pay why.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: And in case the happy couple is thinking about having a blessed event in the future, they will receive the new genetic design tool from your friends at ChromaLink.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: No Chromas don't confuse you when you use this baby.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Create the child you and your lender want with just a flip of the Chromium Switch, the latest in human design.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Brought to you by the Superior Genetics Division of the Y Brand of Companies.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: And least, and also last, they will be the happy recipients of a confidential three-week wedding trip at a resort with yet a name, but let's just say they can learn a lot about classified military plans while they're there.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: This beautiful resort was bailed out and paid for by the Y brand of companies.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: This has been a parasocial production in association with the Lucent Chip meeting.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Be sure to follow or subscribe to the Steven Jeff show with every Lucy podcast, or just a review while you're there too.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: This is Johnny speaking.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: I don't spend any time thinking about girlfriends who never were like Steve.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: Steve's mom is all I need.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: Well, except for that girl in the cafeteria line at famous bouncer school.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, I've imagined myself with her so long we have imaginary grandchildren.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Hey, this is just between us, right?
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Don't tell Steve's mom.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: Good night!
