- 0:02Speaker 1: A matchup for the ages. It is the f T
- 0:05Speaker 1: Live postgame Show. It's presented by Fox One. That's where
- 0:09Speaker 1: you can catch every single WBC game if you sign
- 0:12Speaker 1: up for the app. Bron Tod Father Kratz Todd Father
- 0:16Speaker 1: will start with you US tops the American Republic schemes,
- 0:19Speaker 1: handing it off to a bullpen that was lights out
- 0:22Speaker 1: and yes we had a little bit of a rough
- 0:24Speaker 1: call to and the game. I feel for Dominican fans.
- 0:27Speaker 1: What did you say right before we went on?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Todd Father, Listen, you feel for him, but guess what.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You gave up one run. USA gave up one run
- 0:35Speaker 2: to a team that has absolutely been dominant this whole
- 0:40Speaker 2: World Baseball Classic. Give kudos to the pitching staff from
- 0:43Speaker 2: the United States. What a game, What an atmosphere. It
- 0:46Speaker 2: was so electric. You know in USA does what they
- 0:51Speaker 2: do best. Give it off to the guys that pitch.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Let them dominate. We had two home runs came through
- 0:56Speaker 2: and that's all you really needed. USA really hasn't hit
- 0:59Speaker 2: much that had opportunities. But guess what, the pitch was
- 1:03Speaker 2: too close to Taking my opinion, it looks terrible on TV,
- 1:06Speaker 2: but guess I'm not getting that call either. So at
- 1:09Speaker 2: the bottom line is you better be ready to swing
- 1:11Speaker 2: three to two last out in a game like that.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they got him, they got him, They
- 1:20Speaker 3: got him. You would say, you would say, normally the
- 1:22Speaker 3: US is not coming out on top. If you say, hey,
- 1:26Speaker 3: you know what, they knocked Paul Skiens out before the fifth.
- 1:29Speaker 3: You know, the offense struck out fifteen times. But you
- 1:32Speaker 3: figured out a way to win. I mean didn't have
- 1:35Speaker 3: to didn't have to mix in too many bunts or
- 1:37Speaker 3: anything like that. It was swing and sway the whole game.
- 1:40Speaker 3: But we'll get to all the opportunities that everybody had.
- 1:44Speaker 3: But two to one is just as sweet as nine
- 1:47Speaker 3: to one.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I think we should start with what everyone's talking about here.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I mentioned it for a moment, but Kratz, it's just
- 1:56Speaker 1: it's tough when the final pitch of the game is
- 2:00Speaker 1: that terrible of a call, and we're on the cusp
- 2:05Speaker 1: of an ABS challenge system entering Major League Baseball. We're
- 2:08Speaker 1: running it right now in spring training. It is ready
- 2:10Speaker 1: to go. Look at strike three. That red baseball below
- 2:16Speaker 1: the zone, way below the quote buffer zone. That's not
- 2:20Speaker 1: going to exist anymore with ABS crats. That was how
- 2:24Speaker 1: Perdomo watched strike three and a heartfelt attempt here from
- 2:30Speaker 1: the Dominican Republican this tournament comes to a close. I'm
- 2:33Speaker 1: with Todd Fither. You guys got a score, and we're
- 2:35Speaker 1: gonna go over some mistakes that they made on the basis.
- 2:38Speaker 1: But it's just it's a tough way to go down
- 2:41Speaker 1: if you're the dr for the US. Their pitching was nasty,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and I would say the umpsucks for both sides. Just
- 2:47Speaker 1: tough when you get that one. Sodo got squeezed pretty
- 2:50Speaker 1: good on his ab as well. What do you think?
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think you sit there and you go,
- 2:58Speaker 3: like somebody already texted me one of those get off
- 3:00Speaker 3: my long guys, and he's like, it's too close. With
- 3:03Speaker 3: two strikes, you're really go I'm just put the ball
- 3:05Speaker 3: in play, sorry, Like it's pretty impossible. Like Mason Miller's
- 3:10Speaker 3: throwing entering three miles an hour, you can't give him
- 3:14Speaker 3: that much. But there is a you know, there's an
- 3:19Speaker 3: aspect of the umpires trying to call one hundred and three.
- 3:23Speaker 3: He screwed it up. Perdomo's a guy who's one of
- 3:26Speaker 3: the toughest to strike out in all of baseball last
- 3:30Speaker 3: year he walked more than he struck out. So the
- 3:31Speaker 3: guy knows the strike zone and you sit there and
- 3:36Speaker 3: you go, what could have been if we had to abs?
- 3:40Speaker 3: But you know what, they could have been all of challenges,
- 3:42Speaker 3: the emotion of the of the situation. Guys could have
- 3:46Speaker 3: been tapping and could have gotten one right, Like, yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 3: it comes down to that. It's not as egregious as
- 3:50Speaker 3: the Angel Hernandez, Craig Kimberl who was it Eric Ibar
- 3:55Speaker 3: to or Craig Kimberl to Eric Ibar and Jperre and
- 3:59Speaker 3: Sebia had to like slide out to get it, and
- 4:02Speaker 3: Angel Hernandez was like he but also didn't end the game.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Listen, they had opportunities. Like my old ball coaches used
- 4:12Speaker 2: to tell me, it's not gonna come down to one player,
- 4:14Speaker 2: one pitch or one instance. You only get you only
- 4:17Speaker 2: got one run. I mean, listen, I'm not trying to
- 4:19Speaker 2: be that guy, but I hear it all the time
- 4:22Speaker 2: when I used to play mal You're gonna blame it
- 4:24Speaker 2: on the umpire because of that one one call or
- 4:26Speaker 2: that one play. You got nine innings to play the game.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Give credit to the United States. They came out and
- 4:31Speaker 2: dominated the meaning pitching wise, not hitting wise, but pitching wise.
- 4:36Speaker 2: USA had an opportunity with second and third or first
- 4:39Speaker 2: and third with less than two hours. Dominicana had an
- 4:43Speaker 2: opportunity with their big guns up. Tatiz struck out and
- 4:47Speaker 2: then the next batter I forget what he did, but
- 4:49Speaker 2: boom they got out of the inning. You know, Bennar
- 4:52Speaker 2: absolutely stud came in. I feel like he wants runners on.
- 4:56Speaker 2: That's the only time he does well. I mean, Jesus David,
- 4:59Speaker 2: I remember you Pittsburgh all used to be so dominant
- 5:01Speaker 2: and you just get the one, two, three. Don't do
- 5:03Speaker 2: that to us anymore. But yes, every team had opportunities
- 5:07Speaker 2: and guess what. Two home runs is all it took.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And you know that goes to show you the pitching
- 5:13Speaker 2: staff that the United States has always dominant, always has
- 5:16Speaker 2: been and always will be.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Really nice to watch and just to clarify again because
- 5:21Speaker 1: I know this is just going to take over the
- 5:23Speaker 1: next twenty four hours. How did the WBC not have
- 5:25Speaker 1: an ABS challenge system? Asked the tournament. Okay, the reasoning
- 5:29Speaker 1: from them is that it's not implemented in baseball yet,
- 5:32Speaker 1: so it'll come in the next to WBC. They weren't
- 5:34Speaker 1: going to have this. That was set a long time ago.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It is what it is. I'm just laying it out
- 5:39Speaker 1: for you and for people saying, oh, horrible take whatever
- 5:42Speaker 1: that was the whole game. Okay, I gotcha. It was
- 5:45Speaker 1: a terrible call. I'm with you. Terrible call, absolute garbage.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And there were some other garbage calls. And it sucks
- 5:50Speaker 1: when the last call of the game looks like that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: But yes, the Dominican team had some chances. Tatisk getting
- 5:57Speaker 1: gunned down by judge at third. Do we think about
- 6:00Speaker 1: Austin Wells getting pinched run for at some point, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: when he was on in the big moment there and
- 6:05Speaker 1: then ends up getting held up krats, Would you have done.
- 6:07Speaker 3: That seventh inning to me? If it's in the sixth, no,
- 6:11Speaker 3: seventh inning, it's time. It's time. You have to be
- 6:15Speaker 3: able to go to your backup catcher, You go to
- 6:16Speaker 3: whoever the fastest guy off the bench is. It's got
- 6:19Speaker 3: to be able to score. Yeah, he got held up
- 6:21Speaker 3: by the line drive. I mean, Bobby Witt wasn't even
- 6:24Speaker 3: close to it, but he gave him a good you know,
- 6:26Speaker 3: it's a little bit of a try hard effort, as
- 6:28Speaker 3: the kids would say, where he jumped, but just that
- 6:32Speaker 3: and may have made Wells step back.
- 6:35Speaker 2: He went back, could wells have scored right there?
- 6:39Speaker 3: Because p Pca was on our show and he said
- 6:42Speaker 3: one of the things he'd like to work on is
- 6:44Speaker 3: his arm, his accuracy. Maybe that's a case where you
- 6:48Speaker 3: pushed a limit, but Fables got somebody thrown out earlier,
- 6:52Speaker 3: and earlier in the classic also got the you got
- 6:57Speaker 3: the top of the order up, so it's one of
- 6:58Speaker 3: those situations where you go. So that throw from Aaron
- 7:02Speaker 3: Judge set a tone on two different plays, the one
- 7:06Speaker 3: to PCA where maybe they got a little bit tentative,
- 7:09Speaker 3: even though it wasn't judge, it got a little tentative,
- 7:11Speaker 3: didn't want to get thrown out. And then the next
- 7:13Speaker 3: time when Tatis said, now I'm not going to go
- 7:17Speaker 3: to third when I thought he could have because PCA
- 7:20Speaker 3: was running off balance there. So that judge play loomed
- 7:24Speaker 3: large later in the game too.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It definitely did, and I think momentum was shifting a
- 7:31Speaker 2: little bit and all of a sudden that throw from
- 7:33Speaker 2: right field Kratzy, you said he hasn't thrown the ball
- 7:37Speaker 2: that hard in what how many years? Kratz three?
- 7:39Speaker 3: They said three years?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Oh my god, did you see? I mean give credit
- 7:43Speaker 2: to Louis Severino too. I'm jumping from here, you know,
- 7:46Speaker 2: to right field to left field. But the guy's throwing
- 7:48Speaker 2: ninety nine plus when he hasn't reached that level in
- 7:51Speaker 2: a long time. He's averaging around ninety five and change.
- 7:55Speaker 2: He was averaging there in the innings that he threw
- 7:58Speaker 2: what ninety eight point eight. It was absolutely phenomenal. Goes
- 8:01Speaker 2: to show you the pride and determination you have for
- 8:04Speaker 2: your country. But again, you can go back to every
- 8:07Speaker 2: instinct of what happened in this game. Tatis should have
- 8:10Speaker 2: went the third on the ground ball to center field. Wells,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I think it was the right call. I don't think
- 8:18Speaker 2: he would have scored at all. He went back because
- 8:21Speaker 2: he thought the line drive was right there where Bobby
- 8:23Speaker 2: Wood Junior could have had it. Well, guess what happens,
- 8:26Speaker 2: and you got your big guns coming up, I'm going
- 8:29Speaker 2: to hold him at third base, holding for a sack
- 8:31Speaker 2: fly at the very least, With the way the Dominican
- 8:33Speaker 2: team was hitting, it just didn't work out that well.
- 8:38Speaker 1: This team is fierce. The Dominican team on offense the
- 8:42Speaker 1: entire tournament. But the US also was able to mix
- 8:45Speaker 1: in some more pitching that we were not able to
- 8:47Speaker 1: see earlier on in the tournament. And that's how the
- 8:50Speaker 1: US team is evolving right now. Eric, You've got guys
- 8:53Speaker 1: like Rogers coming in. Benner has been with them the
- 8:55Speaker 1: whole way through and pulled off an escape act that
- 8:59Speaker 1: saved the day for them. But they're starting to get
- 9:01Speaker 1: a little beef here in that bullpen. Mason Miller's lights
- 9:04Speaker 1: out right now, just throwing one O two, one oh
- 9:07Speaker 1: three darts, but they're beefing up the bullpen. They're sending
- 9:11Speaker 1: some guys back right. Clayton Kershaw's not on this team anymore.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Ryan Yarbrough's not on this team anymore. They've got Jeff
- 9:16Speaker 1: Hoffman in the mix. They keep adding on. I don't
- 9:19Speaker 1: know about Joe Ryan if we heard for sure, if
- 9:22Speaker 1: he's feeling okay, But the plan was that he's going
- 9:25Speaker 1: to be a part. He's not okay.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I read today he's not going to be He's not
- 9:29Speaker 3: going to be pitching, okay.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So Joe Ryan's out of it. No, Nolan mclan's going
- 9:34Speaker 1: to pitch in the final four team Usa. He's going
- 9:37Speaker 1: to try and make up for you know what was
- 9:39Speaker 1: the lights out first inning for him, and then he
- 9:41Speaker 1: got touched up by Team Italy. We'll see who they're
- 9:43Speaker 1: playing to. Team Italy against Team Venezuela is going to
- 9:46Speaker 1: be really good. We'll talk about that in a little bit.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Let's keep rolling on this one. Mark de Rosa made
- 9:52Speaker 1: a lineup change Alex Bragman out Gunner Henderson in Todd Father,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I know you would have done the same thing. Gunner
- 9:58Speaker 1: was seven for nine with a dinger off of Severino.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Absolutely. I mean that it's simple size. But if you're
- 10:08Speaker 2: gonna bat that high off a guy, that's I mean
- 10:13Speaker 2: that you know and love. I mean, that's that's Thanksgiving dinner,
- 10:17Speaker 2: all day, maybe Christmas, Christmas morning, waking up feeling that good.
- 10:21Speaker 2: That's how good he felt today. He got the home run. Man,
- 10:27Speaker 2: It's just he's got to he's gotta be real happy
- 10:29Speaker 2: with himself. I mean, listen, let's give de ro credit. Man,
- 10:32Speaker 2: And I'm talking about the manager of this team. He's
- 10:34Speaker 2: been going through a lot of crap right now, you know,
- 10:36Speaker 2: with not knowing that that game mattered and next thing,
- 10:40Speaker 2: you know, making a huge change with a monster of
- 10:45Speaker 2: an athlete and player, maybe Hall of Famer and Alex
- 10:48Speaker 2: Bregman to putting in Gunner Henderson, who's you know, hasn't
- 10:52Speaker 2: played in these games. You know, it's his first year
- 10:54Speaker 2: doing it. Who's a good athlete. But don't get me wrong,
- 10:57Speaker 2: Boom hits a big home run to tie the game. Listen,
- 11:01Speaker 2: I felt like, in my opinion, Dominican they hit the
- 11:05Speaker 2: home run, Caminaro hits the home run. I felt like
- 11:07Speaker 2: it wasn't the same. Yeah, it was great. The crowd
- 11:09Speaker 2: got into it. I'm looking at their Doug out there,
- 11:12Speaker 2: We're excited. But for me, it wasn't like the same
- 11:15Speaker 2: kind of excitement that I saw the last three or
- 11:17Speaker 2: four games. Maybe there was a difference. I don't know.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Then Judge throw the guy out a third. Something was
- 11:24Speaker 2: a little different with that team today. They just couldn't
- 11:26Speaker 2: muster it up, you know, and USA got him on
- 11:28Speaker 2: a good day.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Junior camerin Aara is ridiculous. Oh God, he's so freaking good,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and he's so good in these big moments, in these
- 11:37Speaker 1: big games. You know, there are a number of young
- 11:39Speaker 1: players in our league that we haven't seen in big
- 11:41Speaker 1: moments yet. Junior. Cameronaro is a baby in our league
- 11:45Speaker 1: and the race haven't been good the past couple of years.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I mean, you can make the same case scrats for
- 11:49Speaker 1: Paul Skins, and here's the inside edge note two hundred
- 11:53Speaker 1: and forty one breaking pitches up in the zone and
- 11:55Speaker 1: the career for Skiens first time, he's a ladder home
- 11:58Speaker 1: run on that pitch and that location. So if we're
- 12:01Speaker 1: getting to see some guys that are pitching in the
- 12:03Speaker 1: biggest games of their lives right now.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not even gonna hit on Paul Skins yet
- 12:08Speaker 3: because I think I have a whole section on Paul Skins.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But I want to go back to what you said
- 12:13Speaker 3: about the big boys pitching, Like you look at who
- 12:17Speaker 3: they brought in tonight. You look at who they're gonna
- 12:20Speaker 3: have for the final. Yes, I get Nolan McLean will
- 12:24Speaker 3: be the starter, but you look at the it's all
- 12:28Speaker 3: the guys that came in tonight have been the guys
- 12:30Speaker 3: that are Zero's Zero's zeros the entire tournament. And to me,
- 12:36Speaker 3: with the lineup, yeah, he made the change with Gunner,
- 12:38Speaker 3: and I think there were three places that he could
- 12:40Speaker 3: that he could have made changes. I don't think you're
- 12:42Speaker 3: putting I don't think you're taking Bryce out of the lineup.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I thought they would drop him down. I thought they'd
- 12:47Speaker 3: bring Tarrang, who ended up not having a good game today,
- 12:50Speaker 3: not as good a game as he was having, but
- 12:52Speaker 3: he was one of the better hitters. I thought you
- 12:53Speaker 3: they'd moved Tearrang to the two hole, and I thought,
- 12:56Speaker 3: now that way, you'd keep your right left right, you'd
- 13:00Speaker 3: move Harper back down in the lineup. You knew Will
- 13:02Speaker 3: Smith was going to play, because that was predetermined. He'll
- 13:04Speaker 3: be decision who he plays for the final here, Cal
- 13:08Speaker 3: or Will, And I guess Will's been playing better because
- 13:11Speaker 3: Cal you know, doesn't have any hits. But who knows,
- 13:14Speaker 3: who knows who they feel the most comfortable with. But Gunner.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Putting Gunner in there was the absolute right thing to do.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Proved his manager right, but also proved before that. I
- 13:26Speaker 3: think he was five for eleven in the WBC, so
- 13:29Speaker 3: it wasn't just hey, he he sees Louis Severino, Well
- 13:34Speaker 3: he sees the WBC. Well, he's he's showing me that
- 13:37Speaker 3: I want to see Gunnar Henderson in the playoffs. That's
- 13:40Speaker 3: what I want to see. And This gives a little
- 13:44Speaker 3: sneak peek of that.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he Roman Anthony was a good call too. Cod Father,
- 13:49Speaker 1: just sorry if you got something on that, but also
- 13:51Speaker 1: want to add Anthony Corbyn Carroll broke his hammtbone. Otherwise
- 13:55Speaker 1: Anthony is not on this roster. He looks pretty damn good.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Hit a four and two on one foot nuke and
- 14:01Speaker 1: that was the difference in the game too.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yeah, as I'm watching the highlights here, it's like left
- 14:06Speaker 2: on left matchup. Really nasty pitcher, you know. He got
- 14:10Speaker 2: ahead of the count and then took a three to
- 14:13Speaker 2: one pitch and then all of a sudden the three too.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I sometimes you gear up for that fastball and if
- 14:18Speaker 2: you're on time, you keep that front shoulder square from
- 14:21Speaker 2: a left on left, good things happen. When that ball
- 14:24Speaker 2: came off the bat, I was like, oh, there it goes.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I told my son. He says no, I said yes,
- 14:29Speaker 2: and we're going back and forth and it finally went out.
- 14:32Speaker 2: This is what this is the best part about this
- 14:34Speaker 2: whole thing, which people don't understand. Like, my son is
- 14:36Speaker 2: eleven years old and we're watching this game like on
- 14:39Speaker 2: the edge of our seats, and I think that's cool.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I got a seven year old too. He doesn't understand
- 14:43Speaker 2: the severity of it. But I was telling people today,
- 14:46Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, get your seatbelt on, buckle up. This
- 14:50Speaker 2: might be the best opportunity to see some of the
- 14:53Speaker 2: best players play against each other, which is meaningful as
- 14:56Speaker 2: long as you live. Honestly, if you think about it,
- 14:58Speaker 2: the are in America. In US, they might never play
- 15:00Speaker 2: against each other, and something like this again, so you know,
- 15:03Speaker 2: to see this in the matchups and everybody playing, and
- 15:07Speaker 2: some of the names like Roman Anthony, who's you know,
- 15:09Speaker 2: not a lot of people have heard of. You know,
- 15:12Speaker 2: we know about him, but for him to step up,
- 15:14Speaker 2: it's a name in USA, the lord that people are
- 15:16Speaker 2: gonna remember for the rest of our lives.
- 15:19Speaker 3: What I think is what I think is cool when
- 15:21Speaker 3: you watch games, just any games, but like when you
- 15:24Speaker 3: have stars on one team, Pools is in the other
- 15:27Speaker 3: dugout going. Okay, who do I want Gregor Risoto to
- 15:31Speaker 3: face one of my best lefties out of the bullpen.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Guys can touch one hundred miles an hour. He doesn't say, Okay,
- 15:38Speaker 3: I'm gonna save it for Kyle Schwarber, And you know,
- 15:42Speaker 3: maybe after Judge comes out or maybe after judges at bat,
- 15:45Speaker 3: then we go Kyle Schwarber, who you'd think would be
- 15:47Speaker 3: the best left or left matchup. He puts them against
- 15:51Speaker 3: Roman Anthony. So to me, that's telling me that the
- 15:54Speaker 3: league and opponents that play against Roman Anthony think this
- 16:00Speaker 3: dude's legit. If you're just if you're bringing Gregory Soto
- 16:02Speaker 3: in to face him in that situation and for him
- 16:06Speaker 3: to come up huge with that dinger, I think, is
- 16:09Speaker 3: it shows why the Red Sox maybe didn't go out
- 16:12Speaker 3: and spend any money on offense this year.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Yeah, he might be that dude already. It's a lot
- 16:20Speaker 1: of pressures on the team, it is. It's a lot
- 16:21Speaker 1: of pressure. It's different. He's playing in a tournament right
- 16:24Speaker 1: now full of superstars, right the pressure meter is different
- 16:30Speaker 1: for Roman Anthony. Right now, he's kind of like the Hey,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I got added to the roster late guy, let me
- 16:34Speaker 1: show you what I'm capable of. During the course of
- 16:37Speaker 1: the season, there's a lot more that's going to be
- 16:39Speaker 1: put on his shoulders with Boston, But for now, I mean,
- 16:43Speaker 1: he is one of the best on Team USA here
- 16:45Speaker 1: leading the charge. I want to give a little love
- 16:48Speaker 1: to Bobby Witch Junior too, Todd Father. I mean he
- 16:50Speaker 1: continues to make almost like the same play in the
- 16:53Speaker 1: six hole, right.
- 16:55Speaker 2: He had a big double play there when Rogers was
- 16:58Speaker 2: on the mound. Their ball that went to his left
- 17:00Speaker 2: had to go to cross second base, step on second
- 17:03Speaker 2: make the play. I mean, that's not an easy play.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It looks easy on TV. And he saw Bryce Harper
- 17:08Speaker 2: get a little animated too there. He got really excited.
- 17:12Speaker 2: You know the sidewiner against you know Soto. You can
- 17:16Speaker 2: go back to this game and pinpoint you know a
- 17:18Speaker 2: lot of different things. Bobby Wood Junior's defense, he went
- 17:22Speaker 2: to the whole backhanded one. And the thing that people
- 17:25Speaker 2: don't understand, he's got an arm too. This guy he dives,
- 17:29Speaker 2: gets to his feet and still throws a guy out
- 17:32Speaker 2: by four or five steps. That's the part of his
- 17:35Speaker 2: game which people don't understand. How really true and awesome
- 17:38Speaker 2: he is. Man. Usually it's a lollipop there, bang bang play.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Guys don't have a chance. It's it's truly remarkable. And
- 17:46Speaker 2: he is not only an offense, but on defense especially,
- 17:49Speaker 2: he's making a name for himself.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Wit today did not record an out on the play
- 17:54Speaker 3: that I think may have saved the game. Also is
- 17:57Speaker 3: man Machado, Yes, who was I'm not I think it
- 18:01Speaker 3: was Soda was on second, but I know its Machado
- 18:03Speaker 3: hit a rocket that or Vladdie was on second hit
- 18:06Speaker 3: a rock and Many hit a rocket up the middle
- 18:10Speaker 3: and Bobby gets his glove on it and caroms into
- 18:12Speaker 3: the outfit a little bit. Didn't score the run. That's it.
- 18:16Speaker 3: That's they're walking home on that play.
- 18:18Speaker 2: They're walking home and.
- 18:19Speaker 3: It should be should be a run for the d
- 18:21Speaker 3: R held him there like it was. That was a
- 18:25Speaker 3: legit play, even though it'll never go down and any
- 18:28Speaker 3: highlights because no out was recorded. It was a hit.
- 18:31Speaker 3: It was a rocket of a hit, so they're not
- 18:33Speaker 3: going to show it. But that that it was another
- 18:36Speaker 3: play that he made. That change changed the course of
- 18:38Speaker 3: this team.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Cratzy and to think about that too as well as
- 18:42Speaker 2: a base runner, you got to be taken off on
- 18:45Speaker 2: that like there's a situation, I don't care how fast
- 18:48Speaker 2: or slow you are. Anything back towards you and you
- 18:51Speaker 2: know where the shortstop is. That was in my opinion,
- 18:55Speaker 2: that was a mistake by who was it Soto at
- 18:57Speaker 2: second base?
- 18:59Speaker 3: I think it was Laddie because I think Vladdie hit
- 19:01Speaker 3: that rocket double. That was a grounder. That yes one sixteen.
- 19:06Speaker 2: To me, that's a base running mistake that's going to go.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Not many people are going to talk about.
- 19:11Speaker 3: It was behind him. When the balls behind you, meaning
- 19:14Speaker 3: at second base to your left, you gotta go.
- 19:18Speaker 2: You gotta get a good secondary. Secondary wasn't good at all.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Oh you know what they can't when you have this
- 19:25Speaker 3: many good players. It's the little things. Why do we
- 19:27Speaker 3: why do we say the Dodgers win games because they
- 19:30Speaker 3: have really good players. The Bluechers have really good players.
- 19:33Speaker 3: There's little things that win games. And that was that was.
- 19:37Speaker 2: One of No nobody will talk about that play either
- 19:39Speaker 2: unless we're talking about it now for sure.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yep.
- 19:43Speaker 2: So at least and third, yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Only right here on FT we're gonna keep going here.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I want to talk about who the US team could face.
- 19:51Speaker 1: We'll probably do one last shot on the last pitch
- 19:55Speaker 1: of the game there and we'll do an MVP too,
- 19:58Speaker 1: So real quick, want to let every no Fox one
- 20:01Speaker 1: has every single World Baseball Classic game and there are
- 20:03Speaker 1: only a couple left. Italy against Venezuela is coming up next,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and then we'll have the title game on Tuesday. You
- 20:09Speaker 1: can start your seven day free trial today. Go get
- 20:12Speaker 1: the Fox one app. They've been running it all and
- 20:14Speaker 1: then of course baseball season, college football, NFL, tons of shows,
- 20:18Speaker 1: the whole nine yards. Check it out Fox one. Okay,
- 20:22Speaker 1: let's talk about what you'll see on Fox one on Monday.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And that's Team Italy matching up against Venezuela. And I'd
- 20:28Speaker 1: like to relate this to Team USA. So Kratz, we
- 20:32Speaker 1: haven't been on over the weekend. We had a postgame
- 20:34Speaker 1: show on Friday. Venezuela took it to Japan. Will you
- 20:38Speaker 1: a bra? Will You're a Bray? You with an incredible
- 20:41Speaker 1: home run for Venezuela and they've got a little bit
- 20:44Speaker 1: of offense. There's there's some pop there too. That's a
- 20:47Speaker 1: really dangerous looking lineup. Team Italy has been thriving. They
- 20:50Speaker 1: haven't lost a game. So what do you think about
- 20:53Speaker 1: this one? And I think for the US fans, they
- 20:56Speaker 1: want to know who they should be rooting for. Italy
- 20:59Speaker 1: took it to but Venezuela has more talent.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Italy took it to Yarborough and McLean and I think
- 21:09Speaker 3: the yard dart that Brad Keller threw to center field
- 21:13Speaker 3: I think cooked him. Did they take it to them
- 21:16Speaker 3: or was the misspoken part of it adding to it?
- 21:19Speaker 3: Who knows? To me, if you I mean, you're always
- 21:22Speaker 3: going to say even though they're undefeated. To me, you're
- 21:25Speaker 3: also going to you're going to say you'd rather face Italy,
- 21:28Speaker 3: I think a second chance at I don't think a
- 21:30Speaker 3: second shot. If I read it correctly, I think Nola
- 21:35Speaker 3: is pitching that game. I think Nolan would line up
- 21:38Speaker 3: to pitch that game.
- 21:39Speaker 1: So yeah, Adam, it's Lorenzo eight o'clock on Monday, and
- 21:43Speaker 1: then Tuesday would be Aaron Nola.
- 21:47Speaker 3: And I think it sets up whoever came out of
- 21:50Speaker 3: this bracket, the dr US bracket, it's set up better
- 21:54Speaker 3: because of all the restrictions. The bullpen is going to
- 21:58Speaker 3: be cashed, just because of the fact that there's guys
- 22:01Speaker 3: that can't throw back to back days. But you have
- 22:03Speaker 3: to pitch your guys to be able to get into
- 22:06Speaker 3: the final. You can't be like, hopefully we'll save them
- 22:10Speaker 3: for game seven, like that is not We're not We're
- 22:12Speaker 3: not playing that game now, like they have to win
- 22:15Speaker 3: this game. So to me, you want you want to
- 22:17Speaker 3: see you want to see Italy? If you're the US,
- 22:20Speaker 3: but you also, if you're Venezuela, you're glad you got
- 22:24Speaker 3: some production from the bottom half of your order because
- 22:26Speaker 3: earlier in the tournament you weren't getting anything. So to me,
- 22:30Speaker 3: Venezuela has the better team, but Italy has shown that
- 22:34Speaker 3: they're like, Okay, keep counting us out. See what we do.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Listen, March madness. We just talked about the dance earlier today.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Guess who Cinderella is, see I tell Leono's maybe these
- 22:48Speaker 2: guys are a twelve seed cruising along. You're like, how
- 22:52Speaker 2: can they do it again? Yes? Can they do it again? Yes?
- 22:55Speaker 2: They are SETH logo phenomenal. Andrew Fisher, he's making a
- 22:59Speaker 2: name for him out this young man. Watch out. They
- 23:02Speaker 2: got some of these dudes that are just cruising roll
- 23:04Speaker 2: and that's Cinderella right there. Baby. So for me, Cratzy,
- 23:09Speaker 2: I think you said it right. I think we as usay.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I think you'd want to face Italy in a perfect world.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Venezuela's they're hot too right now, coming off a really
- 23:19Speaker 2: really big, one of the biggest wins they've ever had
- 23:22Speaker 2: in their country. Italy's just driving the wave, man, until
- 23:27Speaker 2: that wave stops. And it turns into a little puddle.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I don't know what's going to happen, so this should
- 23:33Speaker 2: be a battle. But I do see Venezuela with the
- 23:37Speaker 2: way they're playing Ronald Acoon. You're taking a first pitch
- 23:40Speaker 2: out for a homer against Japan yesterday. Come on, man,
- 23:43Speaker 2: it's shaping up to be a Venezuela America USA matchup.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But I wouldn't be surprised if Pasqua Tina and the
- 23:51Speaker 2: boys there of Italy find a way to win again.
- 23:55Speaker 1: And also real quick, because you said Seth Lugo, I
- 23:57Speaker 1: mean the Seth Lugot got lit up a little bit.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but I I I love everything about
- 24:05Speaker 2: Seth that I played with him. I love his breaking pitch. Listen,
- 24:08Speaker 2: they won the game, so whether he got or not,
- 24:11Speaker 2: he gave innings. He got innings at least.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So yes, yeah, obviously Ranger Swarez pitched that game for Venezuela,
- 24:20Speaker 1: so he's not pitching. I don't know if they did
- 24:22Speaker 1: they announce you who's pitching for Venezuela for this one.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'll have to check that. But just to give an
- 24:27Speaker 1: idea of the lineup, I mean, you've got Acunya Mike
- 24:30Speaker 1: hol Garcia, Luisa Rice Ginos, Farrez Tobar from the Rockies,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Glabor Torres, Andre Semenez on this team, willi Ard Bray
- 24:38Speaker 1: had the huge home run, Salvador Perez, Jackson, Churio. That's
- 24:44Speaker 1: a near all star lineup right there, with some superstars
- 24:47Speaker 1: sprinkled in.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Montero's pitching for Venezuela's that's just listed, but it is.
- 24:56Speaker 3: It's an all star lineup, There's no doubt about it,
- 25:00Speaker 3: except they weren't getting any production from the bottom half.
- 25:03Speaker 3: The bottom four guys weren't doing anything for them. And
- 25:06Speaker 3: Todd will tell you, Todd's played in plenty of tournament,
- 25:09Speaker 3: watch plenty of kids tournaments. It only takes one game.
- 25:13Speaker 3: It takes one game to turn things around. Even look
- 25:17Speaker 3: at vinn P. Vinny P was Struggle Bust City and
- 25:20Speaker 3: then he broke the World Baseball Classic record for most
- 25:23Speaker 3: home runs in the game with three homers, like he
- 25:25Speaker 3: had zero hits.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Like.
- 25:27Speaker 3: That's the beauty of these tournaments. And it's also if
- 25:31Speaker 3: your team goes home. That's the crux of these tournaments too.
- 25:35Speaker 3: You have one bad game or one game where you're
- 25:37Speaker 3: a little off, like the dr was tonight you're going home.
- 25:43Speaker 2: The Johnny Crux. I like that one. That's a good one.
- 25:46Speaker 2: But yes, I think if you're in the United States
- 25:48Speaker 2: right now, you're riding really hot. I don't think they
- 25:51Speaker 2: even care who they play next. I think they know
- 25:54Speaker 2: if they play their game, it doesn't matter I Venezuela
- 25:58Speaker 2: or Italy. They're gonna win that game. So give credit
- 26:02Speaker 2: to their pitching staff. It's time for the boys to
- 26:04Speaker 2: come through tomorrow with some knocks. Okay, it's Aaron Judge time.
- 26:08Speaker 2: It's Harper time. Glad to see Harper. Get that doub
- 26:11Speaker 2: We'll get off the snide a little bit. So hopefully
- 26:13Speaker 2: that bodes well for the Hitters tomorrow. Yeah, tday, excuse
- 26:18Speaker 2: me Tuesday, yep.
- 26:19Speaker 1: For the US and the title game, they're going to
- 26:22Speaker 1: get a nice little day off to watch Venezuela and
- 26:24Speaker 1: Italy duke it out. Before we get to the player
- 26:26Speaker 1: of the game, I'll just finish with where we started.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Most of the comments within our show on YouTube right
- 26:34Speaker 1: now and on social media revolve around the end of
- 26:36Speaker 1: the game. We live in a viral world. There are
- 26:40Speaker 1: a lot of casual fans that are going to look
- 26:42Speaker 1: and you're just going to see that pitch run back
- 26:44Speaker 1: over and over again. I am by no means defending
- 26:47Speaker 1: how terrible that call was. I was an absolute joke
- 26:50Speaker 1: of a call. Calls like that exist now and won't
- 26:54Speaker 1: exist in the future. In the very very near future,
- 26:59Speaker 1: calls like that are We are getting an ABS challenge system,
- 27:01Speaker 1: and eventually that might just be how every ball and
- 27:04Speaker 1: strike is called. I am one hundred percent with you.
- 27:07Speaker 1: If you are a Dominican fan and this is the
- 27:10Speaker 1: biggest moment in terms of your fandom, I feel for
- 27:14Speaker 1: you because this is the biggest moment for some of
- 27:16Speaker 1: those players. Julio Rodriguez had a viral quote the other
- 27:19Speaker 1: day on FT at the Field with Trisha Whittaker talking
- 27:23Speaker 1: about how a World Series is everything and a World
- 27:26Speaker 1: Baseball Classic is a little bit more. That's how much
- 27:29Speaker 1: of a deal this is. You're gonna have guys in
- 27:31Speaker 1: tears in the Dominican clubhouse right now, no doubt about it.
- 27:36Speaker 1: They had a blast. It was fun to watch them,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and it just sucks when you feel like you got
- 27:41Speaker 1: screwed on the final pitch of the game. But I
- 27:43Speaker 1: will say it was a two to one game. There
- 27:45Speaker 1: were opportunities. It sucks. It doesn't mean that they were
- 27:49Speaker 1: going to win the game. So I'm with you. I
- 27:51Speaker 1: totally feel for you, trash umpire, But you know, crats
- 27:54Speaker 1: people like oh rigged all this, Like, yeah, I'm sure
- 27:57Speaker 1: the umpire was waiting for that one moment, right, He's like,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'm going this is going to be a two to
- 28:02Speaker 1: one game and I'm making a shit call to end
- 28:05Speaker 1: the game. Yes, he was terrible for most of the game.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll get an ump scorecard or something tomorrow
- 28:11Speaker 1: for ump show. The biggest spot to blame if you're
- 28:15Speaker 1: pissed off about the pitch is that MLB did not
- 28:18Speaker 1: implement the APS Challenge system sooner. If we had the
- 28:20Speaker 1: ABS Challenge system this past season and it was ready,
- 28:23Speaker 1: then we would have had it in the WBC. They
- 28:25Speaker 1: were not comfortable putting in the WBC before we actually
- 28:28Speaker 1: had it in Major League Baseball. So Kratz, if you
- 28:30Speaker 1: want to blame anyone besides the umpire, that's the system
- 28:34Speaker 1: that you can blame. That it didn't get there quick
- 28:36Speaker 1: enough to be able to get rid of dirt calls
- 28:39Speaker 1: like that one at the end and the one to
- 28:40Speaker 1: Soto an inning before.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you're definitely not. If you're a WBC, you're definitely
- 28:46Speaker 3: not going You guys haven't implemented this in any big
- 28:49Speaker 3: league games. Let's go ahead and do it ourselves. Noope,
- 28:53Speaker 3: that's what independent balls for. That's what TRIPAA the last
- 28:56Speaker 3: four years is for. Like no chance. And I'll be honest,
- 29:00Speaker 3: I don't even know if they had it down in
- 29:04Speaker 3: San Juan at the in Puerto Rico. So would it
- 29:07Speaker 3: have been fair if they were able to implement it
- 29:11Speaker 3: at in Houston already because they have it there in
- 29:14Speaker 3: Miami already Tokyo Dome where the other series was, would
- 29:18Speaker 3: that be fair if then, okay, that series was not
- 29:22Speaker 3: what had not implemented either. I don't know that. But
- 29:25Speaker 3: no way was WBC going to be like, yeah, well
- 29:29Speaker 3: we'll definitely give you guys a soft landing on this one.
- 29:31Speaker 3: We'll figure it out. No chance, he poppy.
- 29:35Speaker 4: No.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel for you fans. It sucks if you're
- 29:39Speaker 1: a fan of the Dominican Republican and you're if you're
- 29:41Speaker 1: a fan of Team USA, you're feeling pretty shitty. A
- 29:44Speaker 1: few days ago when they got beat up by Italy.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I know they made a late charge, but that was
- 29:49Speaker 1: a lopsided game, and now all of a sudden, team
- 29:52Speaker 1: USA is in the finals. The pitching looks much different
- 29:55Speaker 1: and the offense hasn't even popped off, so you're waiting
- 29:58Speaker 1: for that, and that could be in the title game.
- 30:00Speaker 1: So they're in a great spot. Let's do a Player
- 30:02Speaker 1: of the Game and it's presented by MLB rivals Todd Father.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Player of the Game.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah for me, I gotta give credit to the pitching staff.
- 30:12Speaker 2: And there's one guy who got himself in a jam
- 30:14Speaker 2: and got out of it. Let's listen to these stats.
- 30:16Speaker 2: David Bennar Okay, I got him right here. Four games
- 30:20Speaker 2: he's been in so far eer zero point zero zero
- 30:25Speaker 2: eight strikeouts to zero walks, runners in scoring position one
- 30:30Speaker 2: for eight. Guess what, he doesn't mind pitching with guys
- 30:33Speaker 2: on base. He came through. I give him the player
- 30:36Speaker 2: of the game because now there weren't that many runs scored.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I give it to him because he was in the buying,
- 30:40Speaker 2: the only one that was in the buying, and he
- 30:42Speaker 2: came through with it. I'm gonna give my kudos to him,
- 30:45Speaker 2: and hopefully next time when he does throw, there's nobody
- 30:48Speaker 2: on base and he can just go one two three innings.
- 30:49Speaker 2: But David Bennar with the stats he has and what
- 30:52Speaker 2: he did tonight back to back strikeouts with that splitter
- 30:56Speaker 2: split change. I don't know what you call it cratzy,
- 30:58Speaker 2: but it's absolutely stealthy.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Ye to splitter, but I mean you had to take
- 31:03Speaker 3: extra heart medicine to keep that old ticker going while
- 31:05Speaker 3: he was in there the last and last two games.
- 31:08Speaker 3: So my player of the game is going to the
- 31:11Speaker 3: guy that followed the game plan to a t. How
- 31:15Speaker 3: many times did the Dominican hitters need to move their feet? Unfortunately,
- 31:20Speaker 3: he did hit two hitters. He hit Perdomo with the
- 31:24Speaker 3: slot back foot slider, which was literally a backfoot slider.
- 31:27Speaker 3: It caught him two strikes, and then he had Hodio Rodriguez.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I saw. I think I had counted five, but Kevin
- 31:35Speaker 3: Polar texted me He's like, I think it might have
- 31:37Speaker 3: been a little bit more than that times that the
- 31:40Speaker 3: hitters moved their feet. Now, there's a way that you
- 31:43Speaker 3: can pitch a team game and not just pitch individually.
- 31:47Speaker 3: And what Paul Skeens did probably hurt him in his
- 31:50Speaker 3: longevity for the game, but it helped the entire staff
- 31:55Speaker 3: entire the bullpen guys to come in because the DR
- 31:59Speaker 3: guys were able to quite lean out quite as much.
- 32:03Speaker 3: He was not afraid to pop one inside. And if
- 32:06Speaker 3: he didn't get the reaction that he looked that he
- 32:08Speaker 3: was looking for, which is actually cleats off the dirt
- 32:12Speaker 3: and moved. Now you throw another one in there, and
- 32:16Speaker 3: you know what he did, clip two guys, and that's okay.
- 32:18Speaker 3: It's a razor thin line between throwing inside and hitting
- 32:22Speaker 3: a guy. But there's no razor thin line when in
- 32:25Speaker 3: team comes in and is hitting dangers averaging ten runs
- 32:29Speaker 3: a game like the DR was, you have to move
- 32:32Speaker 3: their feet and make them uncomfortable. And Paul Skeins did it.
- 32:34Speaker 3: He set the tone for the entire game for that
- 32:37Speaker 3: pitching staff. So Paul Skeen's Player of the Game.
- 32:40Speaker 1: YEP, Paul Skeens is going to pitch in every World
- 32:43Speaker 1: Baseball Classic during his career for life. He started his
- 32:47Speaker 1: college career at Air Force. He had family in the military.
- 32:50Speaker 1: He is one hundred percent committed to this tournament from
- 32:54Speaker 1: here on out, unless there's an injury. He will be
- 32:57Speaker 1: pitching for Team USA in every tournament, probably what the
- 33:00Speaker 1: three four or five tournaments and the Olympics.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yes, tod imagine just imagine these top three. You go
- 33:06Speaker 2: with Skeens, you go Schooble and Crochet or mean, come on, dude,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and I know I'm missing another pitcher too, but just
- 33:15Speaker 2: imagine those three guys as your starters back to back
- 33:19Speaker 2: to back games. Good luck, keep on one more one away.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And some people were like, oh, I saw school in
- 33:26Speaker 1: the dougout. He is not pitching in the title game.
- 33:28Speaker 1: He is definitely not going to pitch in that title game.

- 33:45Speaker 1: for them. Yeah, we'll give a little love to Gunner
- 33:47Speaker 1: Henderson too on our way out for the home run
- 33:50Speaker 1: him and Roman Anthony powering the US to a two
- 33:52Speaker 1: to one win. You thought, maybe we'll see a bunch
- 33:56Speaker 1: of knocks, some really good contact. There was actually a
- 33:58Speaker 1: ton of strike cuts in this game, and it was
- 34:00Speaker 1: really well pitched. Todd Father mentioned Luis Savarino was great
- 34:03Speaker 1: at the beginning skeins, of course, was too Judge made
- 34:06Speaker 1: some excellent defensive plays, So props to both sides on
