- 0:00Speaker 1: The force will be with you all the ways. Hey, nope,
- 0:19Speaker 1: hell everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars
- 0:22Speaker 1: Lights your home Geek Ultimate Lights Podcast Network for Indian
- 0:26Speaker 1: Thanks Star Wars. I'm your host as always Katie, and
- 0:30Speaker 1: with me as per the usual, it is Klay, who's
- 0:33Speaker 1: doing a nice warm cup of tea. That was my accent.
- 0:38Speaker 2: My throat has not been fun at all, and like
- 0:43Speaker 2: I have been taking cough medicine every twelve hours for
- 0:48Speaker 2: the past like what feels like eternity and it's still
- 0:53Speaker 2: not going away. And I think it's just the flux
- 0:57Speaker 2: of random weather that we're getting. Yeah, Like literally this
- 1:03Speaker 2: morning it was like forty seven degrees. I was like, oh,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I don't even need to get a heavy jacket. I
- 1:09Speaker 2: could just put a light sweater on.
- 1:11Speaker 1: This is cool.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So I put on a light sweater, went to work,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and then like an hour before I left, I was like, Hey,
- 1:22Speaker 2: I'm actually gonna go start my car just in case
- 1:25Speaker 2: it's like too cold. And I happened to just look
- 1:28Speaker 2: at my phone and it said thirty one degrees. I
- 1:33Speaker 2: was like, Oh, that's not I was like, oh, that's
- 1:35Speaker 2: not bad. And then right below it says feels like nine,
- 1:40Speaker 2: And I was like, what in the world. And then
- 1:42Speaker 2: I opened the door and sleep just slams into my face.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I was like, oh, that's why it was sleep. By
- 1:51Speaker 2: the time that I started the car, when I actually
- 1:54Speaker 2: got off of work and got into the car, it
- 1:56Speaker 2: had all turned into snow. It was it's just been
- 1:59Speaker 2: snowing for the past like, uh freaking almost twelve hours.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah. The our daycare posted an inclement weather notice and
- 2:13Speaker 1: was like, make sure you check Fox four in the
- 2:15Speaker 1: morning to make sure that we will be here. So yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to check that in the morning. Now.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't think we're gonna get any inclement weather. I
- 2:28Speaker 1: think it's just gonna be mega cold, So we'll see
- 2:33Speaker 1: what happens. But yeah, guys, we're here to talk about
- 2:38Speaker 1: Star Wars and begin our Mandalorian and Grogu recap, a
- 2:44Speaker 1: fig where every month we will be covering some Mandalorian goodness.
- 2:51Speaker 1: At this point, where we are covering seasons one and
- 2:57Speaker 1: two between January and February, we're covering season three in March,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and we're covering Book of bubb Effet because why not
- 3:04Speaker 1: when there's two episodes solely dedicated to man Florian in
- 3:08Speaker 1: the Book of bubb Effet, so might as well do it, ah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: And then in May, of course we'll get the movie
- 3:17Speaker 1: Clay and I will be planning on booking tickets for
- 3:20Speaker 1: Thursday night with planned to do a review opening weekend
- 3:24Speaker 1: on Friday, because this will be the first one in
- 3:27Speaker 1: five fricking years.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Five years.
- 3:31Speaker 2: This will actually do you know what's crazy about this, guys?
- 3:34Speaker 2: This will be I am pretty sure this will be
- 3:40Speaker 2: the first review that me and Katie do for a
- 3:45Speaker 2: movie review that's.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Like legit, like that's new movie.
- 3:50Speaker 2: New movie in Star Wars Alliance because we have you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: of course Katie didn't have Slice of Film. We've done
- 3:58Speaker 2: plenty of reviews on movies or but this time around,
- 4:03Speaker 2: we'll we'll get to sit in the theater and everything.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It's gonna be so much fun. I'm excited.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I had been like doing my planner for the year
- 4:13Speaker 1: because I have I have like basically collected stickers over
- 4:19Speaker 1: the years from my mini planners, and this year I
- 4:21Speaker 1: was like, I'm gonna use every single sticker that I
- 4:24Speaker 1: have up, like I'm gonna leave this year with no
- 4:28Speaker 1: stickers left. And I had an entire booklet of Star
- 4:32Speaker 1: Wars stickers, so I put Star Wars stickers all over
- 4:35Speaker 1: my planner. I asked you last week, I was like,
- 4:38Speaker 1: do we need to change days because of your new job?
- 4:40Speaker 1: And I was, and then like the next day, I
- 4:43Speaker 1: put Star Wars stickers on every single Wednesday of the year.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It was like, no, Clay, Unfortunately, we can't change days.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We're just stuck on Wednesdays now.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And honestly, but well just with my new job also,
- 4:56Speaker 2: like we we just recently changed my hours, so I
- 5:00Speaker 2: am actually staying a little bit later on Wednesdays, but
- 5:05Speaker 2: I still have an adequate amount of time before we
- 5:08Speaker 2: actually go live for me to actually get some stuff done,
- 5:11Speaker 2: so it's not gonna be too much of a hindrance.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Like the best thing about it now compared to what
- 5:20Speaker 2: we had before with my job or even when I
- 5:24Speaker 2: was unemployed, is I had too much time on my
- 5:27Speaker 2: hands and I would get overwhelmed with like I could
- 5:30Speaker 2: be doing so much, but I don't know how to
- 5:32Speaker 2: get started where Now it's I only have a limited
- 5:36Speaker 2: a time I need to prioritize, and then I prioritize like, yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 2: my brain is just a little weird like that and
- 5:46Speaker 2: then of course I told my wife was nice enough.
- 5:50Speaker 3: I don't even know where I put it.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Oh no, my wife was nice enough to get me
- 5:54Speaker 2: a planner for my birthday and so starting to fill
- 5:58Speaker 2: that out.
- 5:59Speaker 3: But yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun. Guys.
- 6:01Speaker 3: We are going to.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Hopefully have a very successful twenty twenty six here on
- 6:07Speaker 2: Star Wars Alliance. We well, speaking of, let's go ahead
- 6:14Speaker 2: and jump into our first bit of news. I'll actually
- 6:19Speaker 2: share what Katie shared with me earlier today from Mike
- 6:25Speaker 2: Chin himself, some book news, which, by the way, guys,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I know that we kind of like boycotted Outlaws when
- 6:38Speaker 2: it first came out due to all of the uh.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Pricing, you know, outrageousness when it first came out.
- 6:47Speaker 2: By the way, right now it's like really really cheap
- 6:51Speaker 2: on both Xbox and PlayStation. I recommend getting it. I'm
- 6:55Speaker 2: probably gonna get it soon. But Mike Chin has confirmed
- 7:01Speaker 2: that Jay Rincon and Eric Johnson will be reprising their
- 7:11Speaker 2: roles as n D five and Jalen from Outlaws for
- 7:19Speaker 2: the novel.
- 7:23Speaker 1: This is super exciting to me. This is basically the
- 7:27Speaker 1: first of its kind for Star Wars. We've had books
- 7:31Speaker 1: that have had multiple narrators, but it's it's been with
- 7:35Speaker 1: short stories where they swap narrators. It's not been one
- 7:40Speaker 1: singular book. Wait, did Princess and the Scoundrel have both narrators?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Princess and the Scoundrel had both narrators?
- 7:48Speaker 3: Yes, it did.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Okay, now I am pretty sure I apologize about that, guys.
- 7:55Speaker 4: This.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Unless somebody else like Katie can uh correct me. I
- 8:03Speaker 2: believe it is first of its kind for voice actors
- 8:09Speaker 2: to be able to play their character in an audio
- 8:15Speaker 2: book for Star Wars specifically, not necessarily any other IP
- 8:19Speaker 2: because that's very easy.
- 8:21Speaker 1: For a well okay, I guess video game wise, yes,
- 8:30Speaker 1: because and it's not like video game adaptations because we
- 8:34Speaker 1: talked about Force Unleashed with what's his name, yeah, whitwere
- 8:42Speaker 1: Whitwear has done mall books, but he has not done
- 8:46Speaker 1: the Force Unleash, which would be the video game.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yea, the Star char character.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And then what's it called. It's the Jedi Fallen Order book.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm not seeing on my shelf at all, am. I
- 9:02Speaker 1: blind Battle Scars that's what it's called. Yes, I don't
- 9:06Speaker 1: think Battle Scars.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I don't had any of their voice actors in there either.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Sean Kinnon Elias Reese, which I don't
- 9:21Speaker 1: think he's done. He's done other Star Wars books, but
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't think he's the video game he's a video
- 9:28Speaker 1: game character.
- 9:30Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 9:33Speaker 2: But yeah, for these two voice actors to reprise their
- 9:37Speaker 2: role in from the video game into Star Wars, I
- 9:43Speaker 2: think that is very very cool and I'm really excited
- 9:48Speaker 2: for it. We are in the midst of reading this already.
- 9:51Speaker 2: We did get the opportunity to get this early. Katie
- 9:56Speaker 2: and I are around the same part of the book.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I know Katie will accidentally sneeze and finish it before
- 10:04Speaker 2: I do.
- 10:07Speaker 1: For me, I try either procrastinate and you finish before me,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and then I finish it the night before the podcast.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I finish it the day it comes out. At least
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm spacing it out this time.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that is very true. I tend to be a
- 10:30Speaker 2: little bit strategic in how I'm reading recently. Again, like
- 10:35Speaker 2: I said, with how my job's hours are, I'm usually
- 10:46Speaker 2: reading around the time that Amberlin is taking a nap,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and then literally as I'm falling asleep in bed is
- 10:52Speaker 2: where I'm reading, and I have kind of mapped it
- 10:56Speaker 2: out to anywhere between six to ten chapters a reading
- 11:04Speaker 2: session or a reading day really, yeah, and I think
- 11:09Speaker 2: it's gonna be fairly simple to finish. Now the real doozy, guys,
- 11:14Speaker 2: is this month, technically we're reading like three books, so
- 11:23Speaker 2: like I'm gonna have to read three books in like
- 11:26Speaker 2: three weeks or technically two and a half.
- 11:28Speaker 1: So yeah, So next week, guys, is the Low Red
- 11:33Speaker 1: Moon review. The week after or I'm sorry, the Sunday after,
- 11:40Speaker 1: we're reviewing Edge of Victory one Conquest for our Yujon
- 11:45Speaker 1: Bong New Jedi Order Patreon series. And then four days
- 11:52Speaker 1: later we're reading Darth Baine Dynasty of Evil because Clay
- 11:56Speaker 1: came onto the podcast guys with the Darth Baane reviews. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and we got so excited that we just kept going
- 12:06Speaker 1: and never did Darth Baane number three.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we just got really caught up in all of
- 12:11Speaker 2: the High Republic stuff and we never finished the trilogy.
- 12:15Speaker 2: So we are finally finishing the trilogy after five years.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Wed And so I've already read Darth Baane one and
- 12:25Speaker 1: two this month, So after I get done with Low
- 12:30Speaker 1: Red Moon, I'll start the audio book for Darth Baane.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Three, I had a little bit of a mix up.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I showed Katie this I like a while ago. Oh,
- 12:44Speaker 2: Paula looks to have a question for us in the chat.
- 12:47Speaker 2: So Paula, go ahead and ask your question. But a
- 12:52Speaker 2: while back, I actually moved all of my audible books
- 12:57Speaker 2: into Apple Apple Books because I was like, I'm not
- 13:02Speaker 2: gonna spend money on a billionaire. And then Katy was like,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you just moved one billionaire's inventory into another billionaires inventory,
- 13:09Speaker 2: by the way, and I was like.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Oh, I guess you're right.
- 13:13Speaker 2: And then when I did, all of the titles and
- 13:18Speaker 2: the book cover arts all got mixed up for some reason. Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 2: so it looks like I'm reading a high republic book,
- 13:27Speaker 2: but I am actually reading Darth Bain, and I don't
- 13:31Speaker 2: know where the other two ones are. I have to
- 13:33Speaker 2: literally click on every single one and listen to the
- 13:36Speaker 2: very first part of each book to finally realize, Okay,
- 13:41Speaker 2: this is the book I need to listen to. So
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's gonna take me a little bit to find book
- 13:45Speaker 2: number two and book number three. But I do know
- 13:47Speaker 2: that I own them.
- 13:47Speaker 1: All, yes, and I do as well, So I'm excited
- 13:52Speaker 1: for that though. Guys. But the next, Paula, we're gonna
- 13:57Speaker 1: come to your question about Keanu Reeves after we talk
- 14:01Speaker 1: about this last bit of news, which isn't a ton
- 14:06Speaker 1: but basically, Disney has decided screw it, Galaxy's Edge doesn't
- 14:13Speaker 1: need to be cannon. We're going to bring the original
- 14:15Speaker 1: trilogy characters to the park. So starting April twenty ninth
- 14:19Speaker 1: of this year, you will get to interact with Darth Vader, Han, Solo, Leah,
- 14:26Speaker 1: and Luke and Ray all in the same park, while
- 14:31Speaker 1: also being able to hear music from John Williams. And
- 14:36Speaker 1: there's also going to be a new tie in comic
- 14:38Speaker 1: So I think this has been a long time coming.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I don't know why they ever decided to make a
- 14:45Speaker 1: park canon, because I think if you want to make
- 14:47Speaker 1: money now, granted, they made plenty of money off this park,
- 14:50Speaker 1: but if you just want to make money off of it,
- 14:53Speaker 1: then just use the location and cycle characters through like this.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I think this is a good plan where you have
- 14:59Speaker 1: original trilogies in the first quarter of the year or
- 15:02Speaker 1: second quarter of the year, and then you have sequel
- 15:05Speaker 1: trilogy characters and you can make a whole experience where
- 15:07Speaker 1: you're still tying in the location, but you don't have
- 15:11Speaker 1: to go, oh, we're immersing you in the same day
- 15:14Speaker 1: in canon every single day of the year.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that honestly, I think that if they
- 15:21Speaker 2: were to trickle these types of days into the calendar
- 15:26Speaker 2: year for Disneyland, and they should even do it with
- 15:29Speaker 2: Disney World by the way, I think doing this will
- 15:34Speaker 2: actually bring in a lot more tourism because people, yes,
- 15:42Speaker 2: they go for the Star Wars experience, but even if
- 15:46Speaker 2: you had like your older fans or you know, your
- 15:49Speaker 2: Legends fans, what have you, that are like, hey, I know,
- 15:54Speaker 2: because they made their announcement that you know, Luke Lea
- 15:58Speaker 2: and Han are gonna be at Galaxy's Edge on this
- 16:02Speaker 2: random weekend, on this random month, a lot of people
- 16:06Speaker 2: are going to specifically schedule their Disney trips around that week.
- 16:10Speaker 2: And that's a good thing. That's that's a great thing. Actually,
- 16:14Speaker 2: you know that Disney World and Disneyland is going to
- 16:16Speaker 2: be busy all year, it's just the way it is.
- 16:19Speaker 2: But to highlight those weekends or whatever, I think it's
- 16:23Speaker 2: good because that's when you know you're gonna get a
- 16:25Speaker 2: lot of foot traffic. I think it's I think it's
- 16:29Speaker 2: a great idea. Now, Uh, Paula, you did ask do
- 16:39Speaker 2: you both think Keanu Reeves would play great Darth Reven.
- 16:43Speaker 2: We've actually talked about this before. We've actually uh when
- 16:51Speaker 2: the rumors came about when Keanu Reeves was rumored to
- 16:56Speaker 2: be a part of the Acolyte, we said, Okay, this
- 17:01Speaker 2: would be cool if he did. But then there was
- 17:05Speaker 2: reports of his schedule not matching up and it would
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know, he would need to pass on the role.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So we actually made a subject of it of like, okay, well,
- 17:16Speaker 2: if he can't be in the Acolyte, what would be
- 17:20Speaker 2: the best role for.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Him in Star Wars? And Revin was one of those
- 17:26Speaker 3: choices for us both. We talked about him being Revin.
- 17:30Speaker 2: We talked about him possibly you know, would he have
- 17:33Speaker 2: the chops to be bane?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Does he have a.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Role to play in like the sequel of things like that,
- 17:44Speaker 2: Like we've talked about it before. I think it would
- 17:46Speaker 2: be fun for him to be Reven, especially if you
- 17:50Speaker 2: go about it in the sense of how like the
- 17:53Speaker 2: video games did, in the sense of like, you know,
- 17:57Speaker 2: playing this character that has Amni and like not knowing
- 18:02Speaker 2: who he is and then like figuring it out like
- 18:06Speaker 2: at the climax of the movie.
- 18:07Speaker 3: You know, like something like that would be really really fun.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Un Go full trilogy aspect, where you go where you
- 18:16Speaker 1: have a giant cliffhanger where he figures out who he's
- 18:20Speaker 1: supposed to be and you spend movie two like it
- 18:27Speaker 1: can be super cool. I don't know if they're they
- 18:32Speaker 1: might choose to bring Reven in. I don't think they
- 18:35Speaker 1: are going to go full Old Republic mode where they
- 18:40Speaker 1: adapt Kohor to the exact specifications, but they don't use
- 18:44Speaker 1: the character well.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And that's the thing also that we've like really kind
- 18:48Speaker 2: of seen. We know that both Reven and Baine kind
- 18:55Speaker 2: of already have been like almost in Star Wars Cannon
- 19:02Speaker 2: because of interviews that Foloni has had and his mentions
- 19:07Speaker 2: of him going directly to Lucas and then going as
- 19:10Speaker 2: far as doing three D renders for the characters. Yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 2: Clone Wars, but it never made it into full production.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and and knowing that we got Revin in Pieces
- 19:23Speaker 1: of the Past and a mar j A reverence just
- 19:26Speaker 1: sorry they're still still.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Shocked by.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Like I think it shows the willingness to bring things in,
- 19:34Speaker 1: and that kind of leads into your next thought. I've
- 19:38Speaker 1: she said, I've heard that Aboloth might be coming to
- 19:41Speaker 1: Asoka season two, and Natalie Portman might be returning as Padme,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and Aboloff will take her form to deceive Anakin. Do
- 19:49Speaker 1: you remember who Aboloth is?
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yes? So I also just wickied her really quick.
- 19:56Speaker 2: So but I do remember you wiki anything.
- 20:00Speaker 3: So so here's the thing. Here's the thing.
- 20:02Speaker 2: The thought process came around. I was like, Abloth is that?
- 20:07Speaker 2: And I thought about it, and then I just wookied
- 20:10Speaker 2: and I was like, okay, that is exactly who it is.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I didn't read anything else. I left it there. I
- 20:16Speaker 2: didn't read anything else. All I all I saw was
- 20:21Speaker 2: Queen and Mother and I click and I exit out
- 20:25Speaker 2: of it, like that's that's all I did.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Basically, the thought process is is that they're going to
- 20:37Speaker 1: bring her in from Legends as a riff on the
- 20:43Speaker 1: gods of Mortis and kind of expanding that war. For
- 20:47Speaker 1: those who are listening, if you're curious who Abilath is,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you can look at the I have the trilogy or
- 20:58Speaker 1: the series of the Jedi series on Wikipedia. Unlike Clay,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you guys are free to look at Wikipedia for Legends
- 21:13Speaker 1: specific yea.
- 21:14Speaker 2: So if people don't know or if it's been a
- 21:17Speaker 2: while for us referencing this. We are currently in our
- 21:23Speaker 2: New Jedi Order series on Patreon, and I've already spoiled
- 21:28Speaker 2: myself with going on Wikipedia and so I have been
- 21:34Speaker 2: in Wikipedia jail ever since.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And y'all, I know that series is twenty plus years old,
- 21:42Speaker 1: but Clay is exploring it for the first time, and
- 21:45Speaker 1: he doesn't there's nobody spoiling it on social media, so
- 21:48Speaker 1: we're just making it a little more fun.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, there isn't. There isn't like a wave of people
- 21:54Speaker 2: that are just like, oh, you remember that New Jedi
- 21:56Speaker 2: Order series, let me tell you all about it right now.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's it's actually kind of fun.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So I highly encourage it all if you're not a
- 22:06Speaker 1: member of our Patreon. I'm really enjoying recording this. I've
- 22:09Speaker 1: loved going back through this series having a blast. So
- 22:14Speaker 1: I could totally buy Abloth portraying oh or choosing to
- 22:22Speaker 1: portray herself as Padme. I don't know how much Abloth
- 22:30Speaker 1: would interact with at Anakin just because he's a vorce
- 22:35Speaker 1: ghosts it was. It was not something that the Mortise
- 22:40Speaker 1: gods did with like Qui Gon, for instance, that we
- 22:44Speaker 1: know of and I'm not saying that they couldn't. I'm
- 22:47Speaker 1: just saying there's no precedent for Abloth interacting with a
- 22:51Speaker 1: forced gust.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Now.
- 22:53Speaker 2: The only thing that I'm gonna say on that is
- 22:58Speaker 2: we have a precedent that Anakin was set as the
- 23:06Speaker 2: chosen one and tested by the father and he's dead.
- 23:18Speaker 3: But we're dealing rumors has it?
- 23:22Speaker 2: Rumor has it that we're gonna be dealing with.
- 23:26Speaker 3: The brother.
- 23:28Speaker 2: The mother, So I think them coming into play, Like,
- 23:36Speaker 2: how crazy would it be?
- 23:38Speaker 3: For one?
- 23:39Speaker 2: We know as of right now, in all of Star
- 23:44Speaker 2: Wars canon, the only times a force ghost has interacted
- 23:49Speaker 2: with anybody is with other forced users. We have never seen,
- 23:58Speaker 2: to my knowledge, again trying to think back, we have
- 24:02Speaker 2: never seen a forced ghost talk to somebody who is
- 24:08Speaker 2: not for sensitive.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Right, Yes, I believe that's accurate, And we have the
- 24:14Speaker 1: only the only question I would have for you in
- 24:17Speaker 1: that regard. All in Empire Strikes Back, we have Obi
- 24:24Speaker 1: Wan there with Yoda and Luke. Is there ever a
- 24:30Speaker 1: time where R two D two is in the same vicinity? Uh?
- 24:37Speaker 2: Well yes, technically like so uh I want to I'll
- 24:44Speaker 2: actually have to watch a New Hope again. But when
- 24:49Speaker 2: when or is it Empire strikes back? So so hold on,
- 24:53Speaker 2: hold on. When Luke fires the Protons into the Death Star,
- 25:03Speaker 2: does are to ever say anything to contradict Obi Wan
- 25:10Speaker 2: speaking to.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Him, that would be a good point as well, you know.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So like that's that's something else.
- 25:17Speaker 2: But what my point is is like, of course the
- 25:21Speaker 2: brother and the mother Abeloth are both for sensitive, but
- 25:26Speaker 2: like how crazy would it be that they're like just
- 25:30Speaker 2: standing there talking to Ahsoka and then like turn to
- 25:34Speaker 2: like look at nothing and be like hey, like why
- 25:39Speaker 2: don't you come out and talk to us too? And
- 25:41Speaker 2: then like Anakin is like there, like they sense Anakin there,
- 25:47Speaker 2: like they like I think that would be like an
- 25:51Speaker 2: oh shit moment, be like oh crap, okay, Like.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Ah yeah, I don't know because to me if because Anakin,
- 26:06Speaker 1: we know, Anakin hid as Darth Vader, he did not
- 26:09Speaker 1: want his forced presence detected so people could understand that
- 26:12Speaker 1: he was Anakin Skywalker, but Ahsoka was still able to
- 26:16Speaker 1: sense him as Anakin because of the relationship. Yep, So
- 26:23Speaker 1: I think you either have one or both. You can't
- 26:27Speaker 1: like he's either hiding and not sensible or he's sensible
- 26:34Speaker 1: by all three.
- 26:35Speaker 2: But see here's But here's the thing though, like not
- 26:39Speaker 2: not in the sense of like not sensible by Ahsoka,
- 26:45Speaker 2: but like you you know, at the end of Ahsoka
- 26:50Speaker 2: Season one, at the very very end, Ahsoka kind of
- 26:56Speaker 2: like does a double take and walks away, and then
- 27:01Speaker 2: we see Anakin is there, so she can sense it's
- 27:05Speaker 2: There's not saying that she is incapable of not of
- 27:08Speaker 2: sensing him. But I can just picture a scene where
- 27:13Speaker 2: Ahsoka is talking to the brother in or Abolith and
- 27:19Speaker 2: they're in an intense conversation or like doing a whole
- 27:23Speaker 2: lot of exposition, and then all of a sudden, the
- 27:27Speaker 2: brother or Abolth just like looks at an empty space
- 27:30Speaker 2: in the room and it's just like, hey, we know
- 27:34Speaker 2: you're here too, and like Anakin's like, okay, yeah, I'm here.
- 27:40Speaker 3: What's up? I was caught? What's up?
- 27:44Speaker 2: Like that shows strength in these two, which can be
- 27:49Speaker 2: a little terrifying, you know, in my way of thinking.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And I made like people may like listen to this
- 27:58Speaker 2: and be like that's kind of stupid, but I mean
- 28:00Speaker 2: that's just that's just something that I kind of see.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we can see.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Also, I just kind of heard myself on your end. Oh, no,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you can edit that out, at least me pointing that out.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm writing it down now.
- 28:24Speaker 1: It's like coming and going, so I'm not I will.
- 28:29Speaker 2: See if it's all the way there, like and I
- 28:32Speaker 2: say all the way there, I've been like throughout the
- 28:35Speaker 2: entire thing.
- 28:35Speaker 3: But I can double.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Chip anyway, Paula. I hope that answered your question, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: thank you for bringing that up as a topic because
- 28:46Speaker 1: we hadn't talked about ablos in a while. I think
- 28:50Speaker 1: I have been off Twitter and Clay has been off Twitter,
- 28:52Speaker 1: so we have not seen a lot of these goops
- 28:55Speaker 1: that have been going around about the plot line for
- 28:57Speaker 1: Ahsoka season two. I know they're out there, the Klan.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I have always been like, we don't go searching for that.
- 29:05Speaker 1: If somebody brings it up to us as a topic
- 29:07Speaker 1: of conversation for the podcast, we're like, sure, we'll talk
- 29:10Speaker 1: about it, but we don't actively go searching for spoilers
- 29:14Speaker 1: because we enjoy the elements of surprise.
- 29:19Speaker 3: So well, that's not completely true.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Cool, I like the elements of surprise, so I will
- 29:28Speaker 1: be completely honest.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Me and the godfather of the network, Travis Snell, we
- 29:35Speaker 2: have kind of found ourselves in a little bit of
- 29:38Speaker 2: a back and forth of like, hey, did you see this?
- 29:41Speaker 3: Or Hey, did you see that? Or Hey did you
- 29:42Speaker 3: hear this?
- 29:43Speaker 2: Or hey, and we're keeping it separate from everybody else.
- 29:46Speaker 2: But we haven't really done a whole lot with Star Wars.
- 29:49Speaker 2: It's mostly MCU stuff currently.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I don't mind the spoilers for MCU because at this point,
- 29:56Speaker 1: I'm like, they've whatever. I have the first saga. But
- 30:03Speaker 1: like guys, as a tangent, I just finished WandaVision in
- 30:07Speaker 1: my rewatch and it made me hate Multi Verse of
- 30:12Speaker 1: Madness lit then more.
- 30:15Speaker 2: The next movie I have to watch is ragnar Rock.
- 30:23Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not gonna enjoy it.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I'm not going back to last week. Guys, if you
- 30:27Speaker 1: want the ragnar Rock conversation.
- 30:39Speaker 3: The other part of the news this.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Week, Oh did I miss something?
- 30:45Speaker 2: So there is no, no, there is there is one.
- 30:48Speaker 2: It's more of like a haha, what if type of situation.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're Oscar Isaac?
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yes, so uh Oscar Isaac was asked uh by.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Uh who is this? This is? Uh?
- 31:09Speaker 2: Josh Horowitz happy said confused. He asked Oscar, Hey, so
- 31:19Speaker 2: about this whole hunt for Ben Solo thing? What do
- 31:22Speaker 2: you think about it? And Oscar was like acted like
- 31:27Speaker 2: a deer in the headlights. He's like, uh, what what?
- 31:30Speaker 3: What is? What is? I think somebody's calling me? Like
- 31:32Speaker 3: what what?
- 31:34Speaker 2: So people immediately, even uh even Josh like live here,
- 31:41Speaker 2: like right next to him, was like, oh, so you're
- 31:44Speaker 2: in it. So you were in it. You already You've
- 31:47Speaker 2: already seen the script. So this is what's going on
- 31:50Speaker 2: and so and that is why, of course pod Amneran
- 31:54Speaker 2: is here on our thumbnail.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I was wondering why he was here. I was like
- 32:00Speaker 1: Isaac in the thumb all.
- 32:02Speaker 3: So my question to you is.
- 32:07Speaker 2: With an easy enough like connecting of the dots, like
- 32:13Speaker 2: what do you think Poe Damren's role would have been
- 32:18Speaker 2: in a Hunt for Ben solo for somebody who talked
- 32:23Speaker 2: a lot of trash about Kylo Rinn in the movies?
- 32:28Speaker 2: Like like, we we have seen more than enough times
- 32:32Speaker 2: in the history of film, not just Star Wars, not
- 32:37Speaker 2: just the MCU, not just comic book movies, but like
- 32:40Speaker 2: in the history of film, we have seen the bad
- 32:43Speaker 2: guy turn good and then everybody on on the good
- 32:48Speaker 2: guy's side just be like, hey, he's one of us, now,
- 32:51Speaker 2: you know, not even batting an eyelash.
- 32:54Speaker 3: But somebody like Poh Damnren.
- 32:57Speaker 2: So how do you feel about like you feel about that?
- 33:01Speaker 1: I don't mind it because I think here, here's my
- 33:06Speaker 1: head cannon for why it would have happened. Ray brings
- 33:13Speaker 1: along her padawan Finn to go hunt for Biden, and
- 33:20Speaker 1: Finn's boyfriend decides he has to tackle Long for the ride.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Hey, I'm down for it. I'm down. I'm totally down now.
- 33:30Speaker 3: The thing is, though, so.
- 33:35Speaker 2: We and the.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Leader of the new or the new New Republic, because.
- 33:40Speaker 2: That was the other thing too, is like he does have,
- 33:43Speaker 2: like I feel like, new responsibilities. And the real question two,
- 33:52Speaker 2: like those who were writing the script, I really need
- 33:56Speaker 2: to know were they going to factory re set on
- 34:00Speaker 2: Poe damn Urn or were they to keep his characterization
- 34:05Speaker 2: and keep his growth because is he going to be
- 34:08Speaker 2: the type of person in this movie too? Hey, I
- 34:13Speaker 2: need the limelight. I'm going to be the hero I
- 34:15Speaker 2: do what I want? Or is he actually going to
- 34:20Speaker 2: because like that's something that I really don't like, especially
- 34:25Speaker 2: when you look at the change from the last Jedi
- 34:30Speaker 2: to you know, the Rise of Skywalker. Some of these
- 34:35Speaker 2: characters had to have a temporary, you know, factory reset
- 34:39Speaker 2: on their character.
- 34:41Speaker 3: And for Poe with the death of.
- 34:47Speaker 2: You know, uh Lea Orghana, being this new leader of
- 34:50Speaker 2: the Republic, you know, does he forget everything that he
- 34:57Speaker 2: learned from the last Jedi? Like, that's what I really
- 35:00Speaker 2: need to know in the script? Is he going to
- 35:03Speaker 2: be the guy to try to force Ray and Finn? Hey,
- 35:08Speaker 2: this isn't a good idea. We shouldn't be doing this.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Is he gonna be the opposition?
- 35:13Speaker 3: You know type of thing?
- 35:15Speaker 1: And I think we at least got a little bit
- 35:17Speaker 1: of that answer in I think we had at least
- 35:23Speaker 1: a little bit of that answer in the last order,
- 35:26Speaker 1: because we get Poe a teensy bit, that's true, not
- 35:30Speaker 1: a lot, but I think we get that answer in
- 35:33Speaker 1: the last order.
- 35:36Speaker 3: We didn't get enough of it though, we did.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Not get enough about it, and we'll leave that for
- 35:41Speaker 1: that review. Yes, because it was a long story, short guys,
- 35:47Speaker 1: it labeled as a sequel as opposed.
- 35:49Speaker 2: To we had our thoughts about it. We had our
- 35:52Speaker 2: thoughts about it, let's just say that. But yeah, like
- 35:55Speaker 2: I think that it would be a of course, like
- 36:00Speaker 2: we've we've I feel like beaten this with a dead Horse,
- 36:03Speaker 2: we want to see the movie. I feel like there's
- 36:07Speaker 2: a lot of people for some reason, the people that
- 36:10Speaker 2: I that I have talked to about it, like outside
- 36:14Speaker 2: of our circles, are like, oh, yeah, that's that's that's.
- 36:17Speaker 3: A movie that's gonna get made soon.
- 36:19Speaker 5: And I'm just like, really do you like like hm,
- 36:28Speaker 5: like sure, I think we're gonna have to fight a
- 36:32Speaker 5: little bit more.
- 36:33Speaker 2: But like I like your enthusiasm, I really do, but
- 36:37Speaker 2: I I just don't see it right now, Like there
- 36:40Speaker 2: is nothing that tells me currently, oh yeah that movie
- 36:45Speaker 2: is being made.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:48Speaker 2: So by the way, which, by the way, I'm going
- 36:52Speaker 2: to throw a brick at Dave Filoni's house if the
- 36:59Speaker 2: week he gets put in that co president's seat. And
- 37:05Speaker 2: then Bob Iger immediately says, hey, we're gonna make the
- 37:11Speaker 2: Hunt for Ben Solo and they didn't approve it. While
- 37:15Speaker 2: Kathleen Kennedy is there, Okay, I think that would be
- 37:21Speaker 2: kind of pissed.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Here's a question. Bob Iger says, I loved the concept
- 37:31Speaker 1: of the Hunt for Ben Solo, but I hated Steven
- 37:36Speaker 1: Soderberth shirt. Now I want you, mister Dave Faloney.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Nope, nope, throw the trash.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Throw the trash, hurry before he can get to his desk.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Burn it, burn it. No, no, no, no.
- 37:55Speaker 2: If if you if you're about to ask me, hey,
- 37:58Speaker 2: it's either for baloney or nothing, then I say nothing.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I want nothing to do with the Hunt for Ben Solo.
- 38:10Speaker 2: If Felony has full credits on that writing of the script, no.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Bad, Katie Same.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I just had to ask, you know, for the memes.
- 38:23Speaker 2: That's such a scary thought. That is such a scary
- 38:26Speaker 2: thought like it. You know it's gonna be the biggest headline.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Oh faloney to rewrite Hunt for Ben Solo script and
- 38:39Speaker 2: it's gonna have like the new release date and stuff.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Oh all right.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Paula had one more thing. And I think she's asking,
- 38:52Speaker 1: so if Anakin's the father and Ahsoka is the daughter,
- 38:56Speaker 1: is Kylo Wrinn or Balen the son? Is I think
- 39:00Speaker 1: the question that you're asking, I think it's Bailin.
- 39:05Speaker 3: I think it's Bailin.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Kylo is too young, and I know wibbley wobbly timey
- 39:10Speaker 1: whymy stuff, But no, not Kylo Rn. I think, especially
- 39:18Speaker 1: with the sequel trilogy now the rese Skywalker, I don't
- 39:22Speaker 1: think you can do it.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Here's something else that really went under the rug on
- 39:30Speaker 2: a lot of people's radar. But did you hear about
- 39:34Speaker 2: Hayden Christisten being asked about the Hunt for Ben solo?
- 39:42Speaker 3: Kind of?
- 39:43Speaker 1: I had heard that he had been asked some questions.
- 39:47Speaker 2: He was asked solo. I think it was like leading
- 39:52Speaker 2: up to a Hunt for Ben solo question. But somebody
- 39:54Speaker 2: asked him, Hey, what would anakin? What would have Adamkins
- 40:02Speaker 2: said to Kylo if he if he had the chance
- 40:06Speaker 2: to talk to him?
- 40:08Speaker 3: And Hayden christ says, oh, I don't know anything about that.
- 40:12Speaker 2: And so people immediately were like, hunt for beIN solo?
- 40:20Speaker 1: So yeah, Adam Driver sent him a message on Instagram
- 40:25Speaker 1: and was like, hey you in Hunt for Ben's solo?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Question Mark.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I doubt there was many copies of that script made
- 40:43Speaker 2: if they were smart, there was not that many scripts made. Now, Yeah,
- 40:50Speaker 2: I would agree. I could believe that there is a original,
- 40:56Speaker 2: there is an edited, and then there is maybe two
- 41:00Speaker 2: more that was shopped around Disney.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Because as much as the MCU likes to go, oh,
- 41:10Speaker 1: I had to go to a locker room with a
- 41:11Speaker 1: guard to read the script for Avengers Endgame, and I
- 41:15Speaker 1: can only read my parts. I don't think that's how
- 41:17Speaker 1: you get movies. Well, okay, I say that, I don't
- 41:20Speaker 1: think that was how you got movies made. Maybe nowadays,
- 41:23Speaker 1: But I think, especially with Steven Soderberg, I think he
- 41:28Speaker 1: had a full script and was shopping it around to
- 41:30Speaker 1: people the.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah they wanted it, Yeah, I think so.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I just don't think Soderberg is that that that type
- 41:39Speaker 1: of dude.
- 41:43Speaker 2: So to the main topic, Yes, to our main topic,
- 41:48Speaker 2: episodes one through four of the Mandalorian season one.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yes, And guys, like I said the beginning, we're going
- 41:57Speaker 1: back through the Mandalorian so that we can adequately prepare
- 42:02Speaker 1: us and y'all for the movie coming in May. We
- 42:06Speaker 1: also so this came out in November of twenty nineteen,
- 42:11Speaker 1: was the first was the first release of the episodes,
- 42:20Speaker 1: and our podcast did not start until June twentieth or
- 42:25Speaker 1: June twenty twenty. So when season two of Mandalorian came out,
- 42:29Speaker 1: we covered that live. We never covered individual episodes of
- 42:34Speaker 1: the Mandalorian season. So this is our We're taking a
- 42:38Speaker 1: closer look at season one because we haven't talked about
- 42:41Speaker 1: it before. Everything else we're going to cover season by season,
- 42:44Speaker 1: but season one we're splitting into two episodes so we
- 42:47Speaker 1: can give it a little bit more detail, but not
- 42:50Speaker 1: too too much because obviously this came out seven years
- 42:55Speaker 1: ago now at this point, yeah, or six and a half.
- 42:59Speaker 1: We'll give it six and a half. So the first
- 43:02Speaker 1: four episodes of The Mandalorian Season one are all written
- 43:08Speaker 1: by Jon Favreau is the sole writing credit.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Guys.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Episode one was directed by Dave Filoni. Episode two was
- 43:16Speaker 1: directed by Rick Fama. Youa fam I said that, right,
- 43:20Speaker 1: I think so, Fami you. We're gonna go with family.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I apologize. Deborah Chow directed episode three, and Bryce Dallas
- 43:30Speaker 1: Howard directed episode four. We are gonna be talking about
- 43:36Speaker 1: Youa Carano's performance in this because she does make an
- 43:39Speaker 1: appearance in episode four. We have already addressed that she
- 43:44Speaker 1: is and yeah, like everything she says.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I I will go ahead and spoil some thoughts for
- 43:53Speaker 2: episode four. Bryce Dallas Howard could not save that acting.
- 43:58Speaker 2: By the way, I after watching the episode today, I
- 44:04Speaker 2: was just like, man, this episode is so good.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Sans this individual.
- 44:12Speaker 1: But she plays the same character over and over again
- 44:15Speaker 1: and anything she performs in But we don't want to
- 44:20Speaker 1: dwell on her too much that I think that's about
- 44:22Speaker 1: all we'll say in this part, Oh there are you
- 44:27Speaker 1: at least for this review. She's obviously in more of
- 44:30Speaker 1: the second half of the season. So, so where do
- 44:36Speaker 1: you want to start?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Well, uh, I thought we would just go in kind
- 44:42Speaker 2: of an order as far as like, uh, how you
- 44:48Speaker 2: want to do this, like just like some off the
- 44:51Speaker 2: top of the head kind of thoughts about the episode,
- 44:54Speaker 2: like how so.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Okay, so we can talk about I think the overall characters,
- 45:02Speaker 1: but then let's focus on the direction and how each
- 45:07Speaker 1: episode looks, because I think one of the things that
- 45:10Speaker 1: I saw, for instance, episode four is the best directed
- 45:16Speaker 1: dark like night episode of Jesus. Yes, I just need
- 45:23Speaker 1: to go ahead and get that out of the water.
- 45:25Speaker 1: We've talked so much about every single Disney Plus show
- 45:29Speaker 1: about how the night episodes are the worst things in
- 45:32Speaker 1: the planet. You can't see a darn thing. Episode four
- 45:37Speaker 1: is so well lit while being a night episode, and
- 45:40Speaker 1: it just looks so good and I don't know why
- 45:43Speaker 1: they went away from that.
- 45:45Speaker 2: The part where the atst eyes start to glow red
- 45:54Speaker 2: in the middle of the trees, absolute gold.
- 45:59Speaker 3: It got.
- 46:00Speaker 2: He's so hyped. I and we've said this time and
- 46:03Speaker 2: time again. Bryce Dlice Howard needs to be given the
- 46:08Speaker 2: keys to a full.
- 46:11Speaker 3: Length feature film in Star Wars, That's what.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong, guys, I think all four
- 46:20Speaker 1: of these episodes are very well directed, and it proves
- 46:23Speaker 1: why Rick Famuel was upgraded to an executive producer for
- 46:27Speaker 1: The Mandalorian. It proves Bryce Elis Howard's prowess. It proves
- 46:32Speaker 1: why Debra Chow was handed the keys to Obi Wan Kenoby. Like.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Everything looks so well directed minus what we've already talked about,
- 46:46Speaker 1: Like it just the direction in these episodes is superb,
- 46:52Speaker 1: and it like they were pleading this for three years
- 46:56Speaker 1: basically because they knew Disney Plus was coming. They had
- 46:58Speaker 1: three years to work on this. It looks fantastic. Uh, well,
- 47:02Speaker 1: it looks fantastic directionally wise. I will say this is
- 47:06Speaker 1: probably the first time that I have rewatched since season
- 47:09Speaker 1: two of The Mandalorian.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Same.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I don't think this. I don't think this season's special
- 47:18Speaker 1: effects has aged very well. And I had a whole
- 47:23Speaker 1: conversation with mad about this. It doesn't look bad.
- 47:28Speaker 2: It just yea, I was gonna say, explain, explain a
- 47:30Speaker 2: little bit more to me.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Sorry, I just think it doesn't look like it came
- 47:36Speaker 1: from twenty nineteen. I, especially after going through my MCU watch,
- 47:40Speaker 1: it feels like this was twenty thirteen where CGI was
- 47:46Speaker 1: like starting to become superb kind of thing. It doesn't
- 47:53Speaker 1: look like they had three and I say three years.
- 47:56Speaker 1: It doesn't look like they had a year to work
- 47:57Speaker 1: on this. It looks like they had two weeks.
- 48:02Speaker 2: It's so I somewhat agree with you, but I will
- 48:10Speaker 2: say this correct me if I'm wrong, But I am
- 48:15Speaker 2: pretty sure that there was. In fact, people clamoring online saying, oh,
- 48:27Speaker 2: I love how old school this looks and feels because
- 48:33Speaker 2: it reminds me of the original trilogy.
- 48:36Speaker 1: And I'm not even saying that. I'm not even saying that.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I'm just saying, ay, I know this is shot on
- 48:43Speaker 1: the volume. It does not look like this is shot
- 48:45Speaker 1: on a set. And I'm not saying the volume isn't
- 48:48Speaker 1: a set, but you know what I mean, like a.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Flat We have talked in Agnauseum about are like despise
- 48:58Speaker 2: of the volume ever since season two of The Bandalorian.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Yes my biggest critique, and I think it shows up
- 49:08Speaker 1: a lot with the Mudhorn scene at the end.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Of episode two.
- 49:19Speaker 1: The Mudhorn scene just looks old.
- 49:25Speaker 3: It does. It looks a little.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Rough, it doesn't. It doesn't look like it was shot
- 49:31Speaker 1: physically with like physical effects. It looks like, hey, we're
- 49:35Speaker 1: splashing mud around on the scene on the screen with CGI,
- 49:42Speaker 1: and it looks like we're splitch splashing around here. And
- 49:45Speaker 1: that's what made me really look at the whole four
- 49:49Speaker 1: episodes and go, this just does like it's not like
- 49:56Speaker 1: the Terminator for instance, or it's not like a New
- 49:59Speaker 1: Hope where you Okay, I know this was shot with
- 50:01Speaker 1: physical effects. It still looks good. It's aged. Well, this
- 50:07Speaker 1: is not aged.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Well you can I will say episode two you are correct,
- 50:13Speaker 2: because even I at that one part it felt a
- 50:21Speaker 2: little off, especially like the fact that that is the
- 50:25Speaker 2: moment where we make the realization that at this time
- 50:31Speaker 2: still baby Yoda because he did not have a name
- 50:34Speaker 2: at this time, was for sensitive. Yeah, when when you
- 50:41Speaker 2: see the mudhorn float, it's like, oh, that doesn't look good.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm not saying that like it's bad CGI.
- 50:54Speaker 1: I'm just saying it looks old, like it looks ten
- 51:00Speaker 1: years old, or it looks fifteen years old.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Yeah to what it was, Yeah, exactly.
- 51:06Speaker 4: Yeah, So that's I think my main issue with the
- 51:11Speaker 4: effects in these first four episodes is after that second episode,
- 51:16Speaker 4: I looked at three and four with a harsher eye on.
- 51:19Speaker 1: The effects and I was like, eh, I just don't
- 51:23Speaker 1: I don't like how this looks now. I think it
- 51:26Speaker 1: looked good at the time, but now it's just like, eh,
- 51:35Speaker 1: and it still looks fine. Again, it's not like awful CGI,
- 51:41Speaker 1: like I've been to movies have gone oh that's awful.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Like I don't know who approved that. This still looks fine.
- 51:48Speaker 1: It just doesn't look like a twenty nineteen well done
- 51:53Speaker 1: TV show with special effects.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I hope that makes sense. I'm not like I had
- 52:02Speaker 1: trouble explaining that to Matt too.
- 52:04Speaker 2: And I like even even one of the parts that
- 52:06Speaker 2: I kind of saw that CGI and I was like,
- 52:09Speaker 2: m is in the first episode when you have all
- 52:14Speaker 2: of the carbonite bounties leaving the ship, that was rough CGI.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so there there was just stuff in there that
- 52:27Speaker 2: wasn't like there was stuff that looked amazing, because then
- 52:30Speaker 2: there's like the like the walrus monster thing that comes
- 52:36Speaker 2: out of the ice. Yeah, like that I thought, look, yeah,
- 52:41Speaker 2: I thought that looked good.
- 52:42Speaker 3: I really did.
- 52:43Speaker 2: But like even when you look at the droid, when
- 52:47Speaker 2: when you first start to learn that the Mandalorian doesn't
- 52:49Speaker 2: really like droids, when he tells the guy like, hey,
- 52:52Speaker 2: no droids and that yellow speeder starts to zoom off,
- 52:57Speaker 2: it looked a little off.
- 52:58Speaker 3: It looked a little weird.
- 52:59Speaker 2: So there's little random spots throughout these episodes where you're
- 53:04Speaker 2: just like, okay, yeah, I get it, Like the yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 2: there they felt in pockets, rushed, yeah, when they didn't
- 53:15Speaker 2: need to be rushed, you know.
- 53:17Speaker 3: And I think that is again.
- 53:19Speaker 2: A very big hinderance that Disney Plus put or Disney
- 53:27Speaker 2: itself put on all of its shows.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Yeah, because I said three years to do this, guys,
- 53:35Speaker 1: Favre signed on in March twenty eighteen to create this
- 53:42Speaker 1: new show. Pascal Pedro Pascal was cast a month after
- 53:48Speaker 1: filming started in October twenty eighteen. Which fine, he doesn't
- 53:52Speaker 1: have to be there because he's mostly a voice. He
- 53:54Speaker 1: was only in the last two episodes really on set,
- 53:59Speaker 1: so that's fine. But like that just tells you, guys, Okay,
- 54:01Speaker 1: So they started filming in September, so they've really had
- 54:05Speaker 1: each a year to work on this.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 54:08Speaker 1: So I apologize for that, but I'm like, dide you do.
- 54:11Speaker 1: This was coming because this show was announced November twenty
- 54:13Speaker 1: seventeen that there was going to be a show to
- 54:17Speaker 1: launch Disney Plus.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 1: So anyways, Ludwig Gorenson our musical score, extraordinary guy, composer, fantabulous.
- 54:37Speaker 2: I was literally one one of the key moments that
- 54:42Speaker 2: I love about this show, and I think it still
- 54:45Speaker 2: happens throughout the entire season as well as in season
- 54:49Speaker 2: two and season three. There are moments in the height
- 54:56Speaker 2: of like action sequences where you hear the Mandalorian theme yep,
- 55:03Speaker 2: and it just.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Feels so good.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Like there's a scene, uh in episode four when the
- 55:11Speaker 2: ats he finally falls into one of the crops and
- 55:18Speaker 2: the Mandalorian stands up, grabs his thermal detonator and the
- 55:24Speaker 2: theme immediately starts to play as he's throwing it into
- 55:28Speaker 2: the eye socket.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Yep.
- 55:31Speaker 2: Glorious, glorious. No notes, it was amazing. It got me
- 55:34Speaker 2: hyped up. I really did enjoy.
- 55:36Speaker 1: That fantastic score. I know we've raved about him in
- 55:41Speaker 1: the past, but we have to bring it up because
- 55:44Speaker 1: this is really probably like I think this is his
- 55:48Speaker 1: first like big project. Correct me if I'm wrong, So
- 55:57Speaker 1: he did. Oh, I'm sorry he did Black Panther. I
- 56:00Speaker 1: apologize that would That is definitely probably his first big project. Uh,
- 56:06Speaker 1: Creed two, Tenant. Oh, Mandalorian is not even close on
- 56:13Speaker 1: here because I was looking at the film section. Yeah,
- 56:18Speaker 1: so Black Panther was his first big project in twenty eighteen,
- 56:23Speaker 1: and then Mandalorian and then Tenant. He is the he
- 56:29Speaker 1: is the composer for the Mandalorian. Grogu. I wasn't sure
- 56:33Speaker 1: if he was, but he is. So. Uh that excites
- 56:37Speaker 1: me because I know book A Boba Fet and I
- 56:41Speaker 1: think season three of The Mandalorian. Correct me if I'm
- 56:44Speaker 1: wrong he did not do or he did book Bubba Fett.
- 56:48Speaker 1: He did not do season three of The Mandalorian.
- 56:50Speaker 3: No, he did not.
- 56:56Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm super excited to have him back as
- 56:59Speaker 1: the composer for the movie because the score is just fantastic.
- 57:02Speaker 1: So now I think we can talk about the characters
- 57:04Speaker 1: because I think we've talked about all of the notes
- 57:07Speaker 1: for the different episodes. Oh, the last thing with episode one,
- 57:11Speaker 1: I will say, I think of my recent memory, I
- 57:14Speaker 1: think Episode one of Mandelorian is Dave Filoni's best directed project.
- 57:20Speaker 1: In line action.
- 57:22Speaker 3: I love that.
- 57:24Speaker 2: The very first text that I got when we started
- 57:27Speaker 2: rewatching this was like you texting me saying I totally
- 57:31Speaker 2: forgot Filodi directed the very first episode of this.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Because it looked so much better than Yes.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Yes. The crazy thing about that is the fact that.
- 57:42Speaker 2: It is like almost always the thing that people think
- 57:49Speaker 2: of when you think of the Mandalorian. It is his debut,
- 57:54Speaker 2: his first episode, which also the line can bring you
- 58:00Speaker 2: in hot, I can bring you in cold. Still He'll
- 58:04Speaker 2: still gave me chills. It was so but yeah, like
- 58:08Speaker 2: I loved that first episode. It did really really well.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Unfortunately for Dave Filoni, he did not bring that same
- 58:18Speaker 2: energy to everything.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Else he's directed.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yep, yep, yep.
- 58:26Speaker 2: But I don't know, I don't know if it's like
- 58:28Speaker 2: a like it's like almost like trying to put lightning
- 58:35Speaker 2: in a bottle. Like he knew, oh, this was our baby.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I have to do the exact same thing every single
- 58:42Speaker 2: time I direct, and he just hasn't been able to
- 58:45Speaker 2: do it.
- 58:45Speaker 1: No, absolutely not. And obviously, guys, as we go back
- 58:51Speaker 1: through these, we feel free to change our opinions. But
- 58:56Speaker 1: I feel fairly confident that this is going to be
- 59:00Speaker 1: best episode that he directs.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and like, honestly, like our opinion is either gonna
- 59:07Speaker 2: stay the same and be even harsher with the movie
- 59:11Speaker 2: or he will surprise us.
- 59:14Speaker 3: So we'll see how.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Favre is directing Mandalorian grown.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Oh that's right, that's right, that's right, that's right.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Filoni is executive producing, but Favreau is the
- 59:27Speaker 1: one directing.
- 59:28Speaker 3: That's true.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So how I feel like, again, all
- 59:38Speaker 1: of these episodes just hit so well. The Mandalorians introduction
- 59:43Speaker 1: in episode one, following up with the discovery in at
- 59:49Speaker 1: the end of the episode. I remember watching that live
- 59:52Speaker 1: at three am in the morning and going oh shit,
- 59:56Speaker 1: oh shit, And you still get those same feels.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I like, because I'm watching this with Amberln and I'm
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: watching this, and also like I'm watching the entire MCU
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: and this with Amberln, and Abby's just like, I can't
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: believe you're letting her watch this. I was like, as
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: long as she knows it's not real, I think it's fine.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: And like.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: We see the Assassin droid just start to freaking shoot everybody,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: and Abby's like, should we be watching this? I was like,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: it's a robot it's not real. Oh like that's that's
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: just my logic for a lot of these things. Hey,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: it's magic, it's not real. Oh see that scary monster
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: that's running after the screen right now, it's not real.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: You're fine, it's it's it's.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Does a toddler understand the concept of real or not real?
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: That's that's a good question actually, because she's been heaving
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: around night terrors. So oh, Abby's been blaming it on
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: the melatonin, and I just agree with her. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: that's gotta be it. It's the militony. I do.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I do have some weird dreams on melotonin, exactly.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: See it's the melatonin. It's not the scary parts of
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: the MCU, I swear.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: No.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: But like, like we were watching this first episode and
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: I was like, look, Amberlaine, look and you see Grogu
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: for the very first time, and she just goes, it's
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: a baby.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, it is.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: And I was like, he's fifty years old, and she goes, no,
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: he's not.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: He's a baby.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: It's just so good because again, like the really the
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: one thing that kind of sets your mind up for
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: failure in this lead up is, of course when Dnjarren,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: the Mandalorian is learning about his mission. Oh, we can't
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: tell you anything about the subject. You can only tell
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: you his last location and his age.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: And you hear not expecting a tiny alien in a
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: in a in a bacinette. Basically, yeah, when he you
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: hear fifty, you're like, Okay, I'm I'm facing somebody of
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: massive proportions, not massive proportions, but like I'm a facing
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: an adult.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Of course he.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Didn't put it together everybody in this first episode because
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: you talked about the the client, which is whatever his
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: name is, Walter Gogzen something, the client. I just love him,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: the actor, fantastic doctor Perchae. The baby, I like to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: see the baby. I remember sending that gift to all
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: of my friends who were having babies, like my my sister.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: It became such a meme back in the day.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Oh, I love it, I love it.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: I love it, and like I and again, like when
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: you're getting into all of that, you know, you start
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: to then go into the lore of the Mandalorian, the
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: best scar and all of these other things that are
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: introduced to a lot of people who probably don't know.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: A lot of that stuff.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Yep, which I think is really really good storytelling if
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: you're looking to tell these things in a broader sense
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: like they were with The Mandalorian having three seasons with
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: the Best Guar being a huge part of the plot
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: device throughout all three seasons.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Yep. You know, so I thought that.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Was really because, yeah, the best gar, especially the helmet aspect,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: because the helmet aspect adds not taking off the helmet
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: add a level of detail that nobody really expected to
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: come out. It adds a level of intrigue for those
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: who haven't watched the Clone Wars or Rebels and goes, oh,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: why does he not take off his helmet? And then
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: everybody else who's watched Clone Wars those goes, that's not
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: a thing. Why is that a thing? Why is that
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: a thing? And then you just build this intrigue level
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: that's like, dude, why why why is this a thing?
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: And all of this googling and everything, so it plays
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: exactly up into where it needs to go. I know
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you're not a takeawa Tt fan. I love his idea
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: level performance.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: I surprisingly love it in season one. Even when we
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: get to like the last episodes of the season, I
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: know I'm going to enjoy it, because I did enjoy it.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Now there's some other things that I there's there's a
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: lot of eye rolly things in the last episode. But
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: in the last episode of season one, there is something
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: uh that actually was teased in episode one when we
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: actually get to see well, actually is it season wonder
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: or is it is.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: It episode one or episode two? Where I think it's
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: actually episode.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Two, when the Mandalorian is tending to a wound and
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: we see again baby Yoda doesn't have a name yet.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: He which starts to walk up and I remember so
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: many people online freaking out.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: He was trying to haale them. He was trying to helm.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Oh my god, it's the first time in Star Wars
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: canon that we're gonna see Forrest he like.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Like and people freaked out.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: I thought in retrospect now seeing this, I was like, yes,
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: clearly this is a tease to what's to come in
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: the final episode. I think this is very well done.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: I really like it, especially with the brand new relationship
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: of this alien species, with the Mandalorian now having to
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: baby sit.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I thought it was a really funny.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Scene like, oh, get back in here, get back in here,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: and then you finally like the shot I really loved.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Who was it who did us? Episode two? Again, it was.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Fama does like this weird like hazy vision in Grogu's perspective.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Don't know if you noticed it, but like when he
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: puts Grogu into the bassinet and you just see from
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Grogu's perspective it's a little hazy on the sides. And
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: then Dinjarre like presses a button on his command strip
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: and it like shuts and you immediately think like, oh,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: this is in the perspective of Grogu. That's really cool.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Like I just love the small little touches like that.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: I thought it was really cool.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Yeah, fami Yoa does an incredible job at really looking
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: at all aspects of this and being able to tell
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: that story fantastically where it makes sense to everybody going on.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: How did you feel about the javas in episode two?
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I thought it was a fun addition because it does
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: drawback to, of course the original trilogy and the of
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: course the part where look Luke was like, oh, hey,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: this droid is all messed up.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: You gave us a.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Bad joy blah blah blah, even though you should actually
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: go read from a certain point of view, you should
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: I knew at a certain point of view, there is
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: some deeper aspects in that whole scene, but it like
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: plays a part in that in like, hey, these are scavengers.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: They're gonna try to make the best deal that can,
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: you know, all these different things. But I also love
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: that Mando knew or knew how to speak jawa m hm,
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: and like he actually got agitated, like almost like hit
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: him with a flamethrower.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: It was so fun.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: But uh, there's also the one character that excuse me,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I keep forgetting his name.
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Uh yeh Quel Yeah. Uh.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: He is voiced by Yes Nay. He's an insane individual
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: by the way, you look where he's at today. He
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: has seen he has seen better days, trust me. But
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: like seeing him here. That then became the other meme
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: of this first season. I have spoken, I have spoken,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: I have spoken. There's actually quite a few memes that
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: came out of this whole Mandalorian season one.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: Show me the baby I was spoken and.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: This is the way, Like those are the three I
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: think big memes that came out of Mando season one.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: But yeah, I really like not only did I like
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: the jawas in there, like part of this episode.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: I really like the chase scene.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it became a.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Little ridiculous when like you see Grogu like actually keeping
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: up with them, I thought was a little ridiculous. But
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: to kind of show the like persistence of Mando, you
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: had to have this scene.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: It kind of shows like, hey, he's not gonna take
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: shit from nobody. He needs the stuff that he needs
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: and he's not gonna let anybody push him around. So
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I really did like that entire scene.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and I did as well, Like it's probably one
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: of the that one definitely feels like it was shot
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: practically and it looks it looks well done. It looks
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: good because of it. So that one was not a
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: scene that bugged me out all in the slightest and
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I enjoyed having it m it. Like you said, it
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: also flashes you back to Tattooine without putting you on Tatooine.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: And I know we go to tattooed later on in
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: the season, guys, I know we do, but still like
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: for setting you up as like in this brand new
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: story of Star Wars, it gives you. It gives you
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: those fanboy moments without going bad boy, come and find.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Me yeah, yeah, which which I really do appreciate, Like
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: not everything needs to be thrown into which is why
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: there was so many people that like really embraced the
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Mando Verse because it really did feel like a new
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: thing while still like giving those fanboys what they want,
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: while also giving new fans something to draw.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: They're like, hey, like, here's something new. You're you're we're
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: not gonna stay with this the same four characters you
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: know that we have throughout all of Star Wars. Here's
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: a new character of the Mandalorian. And of course, like
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: the big draw from that is the fact that, you know,
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Bubba Fett is one of the most popular characters of
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Star Wars. They're like, hey, how do we do that
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: without necessarily touching a Bubba Fett right now? Which, like
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: I'm very curious to like see, Like I don't know
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: if they've had conversations about this yet or not, or
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: if anything has been revealed, but like at one point
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: did were they like, Hey, this is what we're gonna
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: do with Bubba fat you know?
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Was it after season one? Was it before season one?
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: Like I would be really interested to know if there
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: was ever conversations about Bubba fet before or after season
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: one of Mandalorian.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Yeah, considering season two, was it green lit until well? No,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: I think season two was actually greenlit before the show
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: came out. Yeah, season two was actually greenlit in July
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: of twenty nineteen. Oh, so I would imagine they said,
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: you know, we'd love to get Bulba fet here. We
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: want to get everybody else in here. Yeah, that's true, Bokatan,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: all those appearances. I feel like you had to start
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: early on that to go, hey, we want to do this.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so very very true. My question to you, We've
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: talked a lot about episode four. We've talked a lot
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: about episode two, Episode three.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: Episode three is kind.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Of betrayal of the client.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: Yes, chapter three known as the Sin.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: We see.
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: A like.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: Usually with the introduction of a character.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: We've only seen din jar And aka the Mandalorian for
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: two whole episodes, a total of like eighty minutes, if
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: that really when you look at all of his individual scenes,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: we still don't know much about the Mandalorian. But we
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: do see a sense of compassion. We see it in
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: episode one, we see it in episode.
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: Two, so we know.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: That by the time the decision is made in episode three,
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: it's not a change in character.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: For us the audience, but it is.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Very much a change in character for the universe and
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: who Dinjarren is because he is so set and known
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: as this bounty hunter, as this mercenary type of character. Right,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: So my question to you is do you remember it
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: all when you first watch this, Like, was there an
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: actual surprise that you felt when you saw how the
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Guild reacted and fought back at the.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: End of the episode.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: I don't think I had any surprise at all when
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: that came up. I think I might have been like, oh,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: shit is about to go down, but like, you knew
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: the reward that the client was offering, and everybody else
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: is probably because they're the Guild and because like they
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: know the reputation of the Mandalorry, because it's all he's
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: known by it. At this point, we don't even learn
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: his name until episode eight. And so you look at
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: this and all those trackers start flashing, and Cargo immediately knows.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: Cargo is like, I gotta take out my best dude,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: and all of these other bounty hunters are like, ooh,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I get a chance to take out the competition, I'm
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: gonna do it. Like that's basically how it boils down
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: is like you're pissed off at this guy who already
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: comes in and takes all the gigs and comes back
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: with him, so he's successful, and now he's had a
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: change of heart and is willing to go back on
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: his word, which Mandelians don't do. Mm hmm, I'm gonna
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a chance to put him in his place.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: That's basically how I thought it was gonna go down.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: And I had completely forgot that. Uh, Carl Weather's his character,
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: like did fight against him, Like I had totally forgot
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: about that until you know, of course, the second rewatch
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: of it, I was like, oh shit, like he he didn't.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: I totally forgot that. Din Jarn actually shoots him, like
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: at the end of the episode, he shoots him out
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: of the freaking Oh shoot, what's the Razorcrest Razorcrest? I
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: was gonna say star Crest for some reason, the Razorquest,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: so like he shoots them out of there. But that's
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: after we also see a battalion of Mandalorians come to.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: The Mando's rescue.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: And this is after all of them kind of gave
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: him some flack, you know, at their little home or
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: whatever underground, which you know, we get our yeah, we
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: get our first guest appearance of John Favreau without knowing
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: that it's John Favreau. Of course, it was cool, Like
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: I I really thought, like when I first watched the episode,
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: seeing all of those Mandalorians fly down with all of
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: their guns blasting at all these bounty hunters. And then
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: even at the end of the episode when he's flying
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: off in the Razor Crest and he sees the other
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Mando's kind of flying off, He's like, I gotta get
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: me one of those.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: And it is.
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: A tease.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: To what we will eventually see in the you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: the next seasons. So yeah, very very cool.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: And I love at the end of episode three where
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: the child has been playing with this little ball off
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: of one of the contraptions and he reaches up for
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: the ball at the end of the episode and the
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Mandalorian just hands unto him. Here you go, buddy.
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: Well that also so leads us to the beginning of
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: episode four, which is probably one of my favorite parts
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: of just like the introduction to these characters is you
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: just see Grogu like touch something and Mando fixes it.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: He's like, don't touch it. And then he's like you see,
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: you see Grogu looking at the Mandalorian and his arm
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: just goes click a stop touching things. And then finally
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: the last one, he touches something and the entire ship
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: starts to like shake.
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: He's like stop and he like moves him. Absolutely love
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: that again.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: It reminds us that, yeah, this thing, this baby Yoda
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: is fifty years old, but in their race, he is
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: still a child. He is still a baby. He doesn't
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: know any better. So I love that he can come
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: prehend things but still doesn't understand because it's it's just
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: so and so funny.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: It's perfect toddlers.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Yes, no, like for real, Like when he even says, hey,
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: we're gonna go to this place, We're probably gonna settle
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: down here for a couple of months. We just gotta
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: we just gotta, you know, do it enable in order
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: to survive. And he's like, stay here, I'm gonna go
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: map some things out and I will come back.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: Stay here.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: As soon as that ramp goes down on the Razor Crest,
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: Grogu's literally right at his feet.
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Okay, whatever this episode is the other meme in this.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: Season, Oh the broth, Yeah, that is the other meme. Yeah,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: that's right, because he just.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Sees them fighting and he's like, really, are we doing this?
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I forgot I forgot about that meme. One of
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: my favorite writers actually used that meme. Uh, and she
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: went like viral for the day, Yeah, I forgot about
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: that means such so good. But unfortunately this is of
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: course the introduction to Gina Krano's episode.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and at the time, I don't think I minded
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: her character in this, because I do appreciate, I do
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: appreciate that they went strong women versus stick thin woman.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: We don't see enough thick, muscular women in movies and television,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: and I'm afraid we saw the last of them with
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: the actions that she took and not being able.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: Very disappointed. It's very disappointing because when I like the
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: things that I knew Gina Kurana for. She did like
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: two action movies on her own that she was the
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: main character, very like d movies, by the way, did
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: not make a lot of money in the box office.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: I think one of them actually had a like immediately
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: to DVD sequel type of thing, and she did a
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: fast and furious movie and she also dated Henry Cavill, Like,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: those were the things that I knew her from. So
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: I was like, oh, Gina Grano, cool, that's the other one.
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and dead bool And when I saw her here,
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, what are they going to do
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: with this character?
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: Is this a one type thing?
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: Of course, we know that there was eventually talks of
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: moving her into possibly a bigger role in a separate
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: TV show. All of that went nowhere my rewatch. As
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I said at the beginning of this review, I noticed
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: how stale her lines were in this in this episode,
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: and I think I was really odd by Bryce Dallis
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Howard's work in this episode that I didn't really pay
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: attention to Gina Corano all that much. Now knowing this
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: was a review episode for us, I was like, Okay,
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: I need to really focus on kind of everything Gina Corano.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: I probably won't pay attention to her, But when I
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: really listened to her lines, I was like, she is faact.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: There's nothing there when I hear her say these words,
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: so like, it just it just felt kind of awkward,
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: to be completely honest.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's where I ended up with this as
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: well as just you're not somebody who's catching my attention
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Basically in this I'm I'm really just like you're a
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: character and you're there at the end of the day.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: So otherwise, like I love episode four. I love Omara
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: the mother who can shoot, like fantastic character, and we
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: almost got a helmet reveal and then he goes, yeah,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I do.
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: Like there there is the scene where he is eating
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: but they move the camera. There's that one scene.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I I I definitely laughed this time around, and I
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: think I laughed the first time because I'm like, dude,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: you're you're eating at a window in front of these
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: children who were playing in our Facebook still.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: And still be seen, which I thought of that as well.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: But like there was of course, with you know this
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: being six years ago almost seven now, when I was
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: watching this, I was like, is there a legitimate chance
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: for this Mandalorian to actually consider what this woman is
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: saying starting a life, you know, walking away from this
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: whole lifestyle of being a Mandalorian and such.
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: And like.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: I remember back in the day, I was like, I mean, sure,
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: anything is possible. I don't even know this guys. Maybe
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: we've seen him go against the guild.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Why can't he go against his own people, you know,
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: I think that was my thought process. But then of
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: course we see that these bounty hunters can still find
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Grogu wherever they.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Are, which.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: I need somebody to explain it, Like I'm five, What
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: is it that they're tracking?
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: I don't know either.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: Is it the if you could just literally throw that
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: thing away.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: I don't think it's the bascinet because he's not using
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: the bascinet in episode four, because the bassinet was thrown
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: away in episode three, because remember the client was like,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: get the material.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: Killer, that's right, that's right.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: I don't think it's like a tag, like he's been
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: injected with a tracker, because we see the Mando's using
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: those trackers for other beings. I genuinely think it's the
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: chain code basically, because we know the chain code is
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: basically like the DNA sequence at the end of the day.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: So I think that's probably what it's tracking. I don't
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: think you can track it unless you're on the same planet,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: so they beep, but they don't direct you unless you're
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: on the same planet. So Manda was there for a
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: couple of months with Grogu, and then he's like Okay,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: we're safe. I'm good to move on. Nobody knows where
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: I am. Somebody probably spend that time hopping around planets
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: in the direction that he took off from the main
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: planet and was exploring planets and basically landing on a
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: planet and going okay, is it directing me where I
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: can go? No, Okay, cross this one off the list. Yeah,
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: because we've seen that done in books where people are like, oh,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: you can't track through hyperspace. Oh, but I know that
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: if you went off at these coordinates and you jumped
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: into hyperspace here, there's only so many planets you could
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: go to. Yeah, So I think that's probably what happened,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: is it's tracking the DNA sequence, and that's why the
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: client dude is like, I can give you with last
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: known location, and so Bando goes there and is like, okay,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna start here, and then he realized, okay, still here.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: That's my theory.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Okay, that makes that makes a lot of sense. That
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: makes a lot of sense because like, whenever I see
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: these things, I'm like, this thing is not like huge,
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: like crazy technology. It is literally a box with a
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: light that flickers, Like what is going on?
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: Here, but that makes sense. That definitely makes sense.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: But yeah, like I really we we can gush over
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: this entire episode. I think that although this is volume technology,
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: the little bit of set that it was with, like
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: the farm, the the like the shrimp esque animal stuff
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: that they are finding in their crops and stuff, the krill,
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: the krill like all of it like really made it
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: feel alive and I thought that was really really cool.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: So it was a lot of fun.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: I am looking forward, Like I said, even though takowatit
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: is going to be in the last episodes, and I
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: believe the last or second to last director, then he
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: also directed.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: So he's the last director, so it basically goes the
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: same way. So five is directed by Filoni, Sex is
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: directed by Fami Yua, Deborah Chow directs episode and then
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: what TT directs episode eight. So five directors three got
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: two episodes.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, man, could you imagine if Bryce Dallis
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Howard had that last episode what we could have gotten.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm looking forward, even with Taekowa TD doing
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: the last episode. I like this entire first season. It
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: really did like set up an expectation, which you know,
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: took a little bit of a hit in season two
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: and really kind of fill on its face for season three,
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: but you know we will eventually get there.
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: But any last thoughts for.
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: You, Katie on this first four episodes of season.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: One, No, I think we covered everything again, guys, this
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: wasn't meant to be a super in depth review. It
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: was just op. It was just kind of meant to
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: be a refresher, a little more in depth than what
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: we're gonna go with two three and book five. So yeah,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I think I think that about covers it.
