- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're getting right back to
- 0:06Speaker 1: the Ted Waite conversation with Congress. Question Okay, thank you.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Can you give us a brief description of what the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Clinton Global Initiative is? Answer? The Clinton Global Initiative followed
- 0:21Speaker 1: on after Davos, but to tackle some of the biggest issues,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but to get people to actually make commitments to do
- 0:27Speaker 1: something about it. Question and what was your involvement with CGI? Answer?
- 0:32Speaker 1: I would attend some of the early early events. It
- 0:35Speaker 1: was very successful in the early days. Question did you
- 0:38Speaker 1: help establish CGI in any way? Answer? No? Question. Did
- 0:43Speaker 1: miss Maxwell assist in establishing CGI? Answer? She told me
- 0:47Speaker 1: she did. Question did mister Epstein assist in the establishing
- 0:51Speaker 1: of CGI? Answer not that I know of. Question were
- 0:54Speaker 1: you involved in any way in receiving or managing funding
- 0:57Speaker 1: that was given to CGI? Answer no question. Were you
- 1:01Speaker 1: aware at the time that you were involved with CGI
- 1:04Speaker 1: that mister Epstein had made a donation to CGI in
- 1:07Speaker 1: two thousand and six? Answer no question. Did you and
- 1:11Speaker 1: miss Maxwell? And you have kind of answered this already,
- 1:14Speaker 1: But did you and miss Maxwell maintain communication with either
- 1:17Speaker 1: President Clinton or Secretary Clinton while you were involved with CGI.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Answer that would have been all with President Clinton, not
- 1:25Speaker 1: Secretary Clinton. Mister spector. Question and would those communications have
- 1:30Speaker 1: been through Doug Band? Answered typically through Doug Band or
- 1:34Speaker 1: one of his other staff staff members, or you know,
- 1:36Speaker 1: just communication when we saw each other at the various
- 1:39Speaker 1: CGI events. Question what's your knowledge of mister Band's relationship
- 1:43Speaker 1: with Miss Maxwell? Answer? Their relationship goes back quite some
- 1:47Speaker 1: time to when mister Band and President Clinton left the
- 1:50Speaker 1: White House together and Doug went along with mister Clinton.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Question so they were Miss Maxwell and Band? They were
- 1:57Speaker 1: friends or something else? Answer? They were friends, I believe so.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Question do you have any knowledge of whether they had
- 2:03Speaker 1: any form of romantic or sexual relationship? Answer no, Miss Cathay.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Question did you attend the CGI conference that occurred in
- 2:12Speaker 1: September of twenty thirteen? Answer? Possibly, I don't remember attending one.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I attended one later when he did an ocean thing.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I was trying to get CGI to do more ocean
- 2:22Speaker 1: work because that's my primary thing. I don't know what
- 2:25Speaker 1: year that was, I don't recall. Question. Reporting indicates that
- 2:29Speaker 1: Maxwell was invited to an event in twenty thirteen that
- 2:32Speaker 1: was honoring her work an ocean conservation. Do you recall
- 2:36Speaker 1: being at that event? Answer no, I do not. Question
- 2:39Speaker 1: did you know that miss Maxwell was being honored at
- 2:41Speaker 1: an event prior to it happening? Answer no. Question did
- 2:45Speaker 1: either President Clinton or a Secretary Clinton communicate with you
- 2:49Speaker 1: that Miss Maxwell would be honored by CGI? Answer no.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Question And when was the last time you attended an
- 2:55Speaker 1: event for CGI? Answer I don't recall it was. I
- 2:59Speaker 1: believe if that ocean conference. There's a photo of it,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but I don't know what year it was. Question do
- 3:04Speaker 1: you recall the last CGI event that you attended with
- 3:07Speaker 1: Miss Maxwell? Answer no. Question Did you and Miss Maxwell
- 3:11Speaker 1: work together on any CGI initiatives? Answer no, not that
- 3:15Speaker 1: I can recall. Question did miss Maxwell ever discuss her
- 3:18Speaker 1: travel with other people with you? Was there anyone significant
- 3:22Speaker 1: that you can recall that she would take trips with?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Answer no. Could you be a little more specific maybe,
- 3:29Speaker 1: question sure, I'll start more specifically. Did she often travel
- 3:32Speaker 1: with mister Epstein? Answer not that I'm aware of, not
- 3:35Speaker 1: during our relationship. Question And did she ever gets cut
- 3:39Speaker 1: off by mister Waite? She wouldn't have told me if
- 3:41Speaker 1: she did. Now Spector jumps in what do you mean
- 3:44Speaker 1: by that answer? I don't remember her ever saying she
- 3:47Speaker 1: was traveling with mister Epstein. I probably wouldn't have been
- 3:50Speaker 1: happy with that question, So she wouldn't have told you
- 3:54Speaker 1: because she would have known that you would not have
- 3:56Speaker 1: been happy if she was traveling with her ex boyfriend.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Answer yeah, traveling with her ex boyfriend. Question but you
- 4:02Speaker 1: had no reason to suspect that she was hiding it
- 4:05Speaker 1: for that reason? Answer no, Yeah, exactly. I don't have
- 4:08Speaker 1: a reason to expect that. Question. But is it possible
- 4:12Speaker 1: she would have hidden travel with mister Epstein from you?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Answer as possible. Question she would have motive to do so,
- 4:19Speaker 1: is that right? Answer? Yeah. Through the course of preparing
- 4:21Speaker 1: for this testimony, I've discovered a lot of things I
- 4:24Speaker 1: didn't know about her relationship with mister Epstein in the
- 4:27Speaker 1: time that we were dating. Ms Cathay. Did she ever
- 4:31Speaker 1: tell you that she was traveling with anyone else that
- 4:33Speaker 1: was related to her work with mister Epstein, Mister Waite, No,
- 4:37Speaker 1: not that I can recall, question by mister Grant. Mister Waite,
- 4:42Speaker 1: at any point during your relationship with Miss Maxwell, and
- 4:44Speaker 1: will include a couple of years before that, in early
- 4:47Speaker 1: two thousands, Did any other friend of yours mention Jeffrey
- 4:50Speaker 1: Epstein in any other way? Answer? I never heard of
- 4:54Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein until I met him in two thousand and three.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Question and did any other investors or anyone else try
- 4:59Speaker 1: to get you would invest with them in any way? Answer?
- 5:02Speaker 1: No question. And outside of your family and your lawyers,
- 5:06Speaker 1: have you discussed this investigation or interview with anyone else? Answer?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Just with some friends, I think. Question in which friends
- 5:14Speaker 1: would that be? Answer? Again, I don't really want to
- 5:16Speaker 1: name them specifically, but I have kind of a rule
- 5:19Speaker 1: that I would rather have somebody hear something from me
- 5:21Speaker 1: than from somebody else. So I did some texts the family,
- 5:24Speaker 1: friends and other people that this was going to be happening,
- 5:27Speaker 1: because I'd rather they hear it from me than read
- 5:30Speaker 1: it in the press. Question understood, mister spector. Question did
- 5:34Speaker 1: anyone attempt to influence your testimony? Answer? No question. We're
- 5:38Speaker 1: approaching the end of our hour. But just kind of
- 5:40Speaker 1: one general question. We talked a little bit about this,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but just to kind of maybe put a finer point
- 5:46Speaker 1: on it. You were dating miss Maxwell. She was working
- 5:49Speaker 1: for her ex boyfriend who had been accused of crimes
- 5:51Speaker 1: against women and girls. You're aware that he's been accused
- 5:55Speaker 1: of those crimes and eventually serve time for it. You
- 5:58Speaker 1: said that you took miss Maxwell and that she wasn't involved,
- 6:01Speaker 1: So I understand that's your testimony. But were you not
- 6:05Speaker 1: you know this was your girlfriend at the time. Were
- 6:08Speaker 1: you not worried for her safety or maybe legal exposure
- 6:11Speaker 1: for working for a person like that? Answer again, it
- 6:14Speaker 1: was my understanding that I didn't know that she was
- 6:17Speaker 1: still working for him at that point in time. I
- 6:20Speaker 1: knew she had worked for him in the past, but
- 6:22Speaker 1: I didn't know that there was or privy to what
- 6:24Speaker 1: their relationship actually was. She was quite stressed around the
- 6:28Speaker 1: time of two thousand and nine. I'm not exactly sure
- 6:31Speaker 1: around some of the subpoenas, depositions, testimony that she was
- 6:34Speaker 1: supposed to give, around some of those, some of the
- 6:37Speaker 1: lawsuits that named Epstein. She never told me that she
- 6:39Speaker 1: was named in a lawsuit, but she was quite stressed
- 6:42Speaker 1: about it. Question and as you know, of course, you're
- 6:45Speaker 1: a very successful person, extremely successful person, and you're a
- 6:49Speaker 1: public figure and you're providing at this time. Question more
- 6:53Speaker 1: comes up about you when we google you than about me.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So about my standards. You certainly are, and you know
- 6:59Speaker 1: you're giving miss Maxwell, your girlfriend a thirty thousand dollars
- 7:02Speaker 1: a month salary already during this time, and you're hearing
- 7:05Speaker 1: about these depositions, and again you're aware of her past
- 7:08Speaker 1: association with mister Epstein. Were you not worried about your
- 7:12Speaker 1: own exposure maybe PR exposure for being connected to her
- 7:16Speaker 1: at that time, or even were you worried that she
- 7:18Speaker 1: was going to come asking for money to defend herself.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I know you said that you didn't provide more legal fees,
- 7:24Speaker 1: but were you worried about that? Answer? I was never
- 7:27Speaker 1: worried about any financial exposure. I should have been worried
- 7:30Speaker 1: about PR exposure I'm here today. Question, but you weren't
- 7:33Speaker 1: at the time. Answer, I was not at the time.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Didn't cross my mind. I wish it would, mister Spector.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Thank you, mister Giaketti. Quick question. You testified earlier that
- 7:44Speaker 1: Maxwell was one of these was on one of these
- 7:47Speaker 1: CGI flights? Is that correct? Answer? I don't believe it
- 7:50Speaker 1: was a CGI specific flight. I'm not sure gets cut
- 7:53Speaker 1: off question a flight weight Clinton answer? Yeah? Question? And
- 7:58Speaker 1: in what capacity was miss Maxwell on that tree? Answer?
- 8:01Speaker 1: She would have been with me questions, so she would
- 8:03Speaker 1: have been invited by you as a plus one answer? Yeah,
- 8:07Speaker 1: or we were both invited. Yes, I'm not exactly sure
- 8:09Speaker 1: how that came about, but we both went on the trip.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Mister Giachetti, Thank you, mister Spector. Question I'm sorry. One
- 8:16Speaker 1: more on my end here, understanding that they're different companies,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but I would say generally in the same industry. Have
- 8:23Speaker 1: you ever had a conversation with Bill Gates about Jeffrey
- 8:26Speaker 1: Epstein or Glaine Maxwell? Answer? No question. Do you have
- 8:30Speaker 1: any knowledge of Bill Gates's relationship, any firsthand knowledge aside
- 8:34Speaker 1: from media reports about Bill gates relationship with mister Epstein
- 8:37Speaker 1: or miss Maxwell? Answer no question, no knowledge. Answer no knowledge. Question.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Have you ever had any communication with other Microsoft executives
- 8:47Speaker 1: about Jeffrey Epstein or Glaine Maxwell? Answer there were some
- 8:51Speaker 1: Microsoft executives that Glaine was friends with? Question who was that? Answer?
- 8:56Speaker 1: But that was way back, not related to mister Skuldonni.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I think the question was whether you spoke with Microsoft
- 9:02Speaker 1: executives about Epstein or Maxwell? Is that right? Spector? Yes? Wait, no,
- 9:07Speaker 1: never I did not, mister Spector. I'm sorry because you
- 9:11Speaker 1: said it. Have you ever had a conversation with miss
- 9:14Speaker 1: Maxwell about her relationship with Microsoft executives. Answer it was
- 9:18Speaker 1: way back. She had some friends. She had a lot
- 9:22Speaker 1: of friends who work for Microsoft. So question, of course,
- 9:26Speaker 1: when you say way back, do you mean she was
- 9:27Speaker 1: friends with them? Early? Answered during our relationship, she had
- 9:31Speaker 1: a couple of friends that worked at Microsoft. But I
- 9:33Speaker 1: don't think they had anything to do with Gates and
- 9:36Speaker 1: his relationship with Epstein. I think it was totally separate.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Question do you know if those friends of Maxwell at
- 9:41Speaker 1: Microsoft had a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein in any way?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Answer no, I don't believe they did. Question you don't
- 9:48Speaker 1: believe they did or you don't know? Answer, I don't know. Question.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Thank you, Miss Cathay. Mister Waite, I want to give
- 9:55Speaker 1: you the opportunity as we're coming up on the end
- 9:57Speaker 1: of our second hour. We've gone back and forth on
- 9:59Speaker 1: a lit lot of topics today, and so just with
- 10:02Speaker 1: hindsight that you have now and after a seven years
- 10:04Speaker 1: long relationship, in spending time in preparation for this, is
- 10:08Speaker 1: there anything else that you observed about Miss Maxwell in
- 10:10Speaker 1: the course of your relationship or after that you have
- 10:13Speaker 1: not mentioned today. Mister Waite, nothing I can think of
- 10:17Speaker 1: that would be relevant to the victims, Miss Cathay. And
- 10:20Speaker 1: is there anything about your role with Jeffrey Epstein? Again,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you have not been given the opportunity to say today,
- 10:26Speaker 1: Miss Callen, he doesn't have a role with Jeffrey Epstein.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Mister Waite, No, Kathay, do you have any thoughts, any
- 10:32Speaker 1: remarks about mister Epstein that you are not given an
- 10:35Speaker 1: opportunity to discuss today, Mister Waite, nothing I can think of, Specter,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Is there anything about You've already testified that Jeffrey Epstein
- 10:44Speaker 1: was arrogant and off putting I think were the words
- 10:46Speaker 1: you used, again, understanding that at any time you know
- 10:50Speaker 1: the reason. You've already given your reasons for feeling that
- 10:53Speaker 1: at the time. But with the benefit of hindsight, is
- 10:56Speaker 1: there anything about Jeffrey Epstein's character or the things he
- 10:59Speaker 1: did that now knowing the reporting that strikes you differently,
- 11:02Speaker 1: mister Waite, Again, there were things that I knew and
- 11:05Speaker 1: now that we know in the press. I mean, the
- 11:08Speaker 1: one thing I wish I would have done, as I
- 11:10Speaker 1: think I testified before, is around two thousand and eight,
- 11:12Speaker 1: done more research around that point, which I did not do,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Miss Casey, we'll go off the record. Predacted. We can
- 11:19Speaker 1: go back on mister Waite. My colleague has a few questions.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Then we'll go back to me, and then we'll finish
- 11:25Speaker 1: up our questions. Predacted. Okay, we'll be quick here. I
- 11:29Speaker 1: would just like to introduce Minority Exhibit H into the record.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'll give you all a minute to read that question.
- 11:36Speaker 1: This is an email between you, mister Waite, and miss
- 11:38Speaker 1: Maxwell in October of two thousand and four, and once
- 11:41Speaker 1: you've had a minute to look that over. In the email,
- 11:44Speaker 1: miss Maxwell asked you if you ordered a massage table yet,
- 11:47Speaker 1: to which you reply you have not, and then she
- 11:50Speaker 1: proceeds to say, if no, I will forward to erin
- 11:53Speaker 1: what to order? Who is erin? Answer my assistant at
- 11:56Speaker 1: the time? Question okay? And did miss Maxwell often interface
- 12:00Speaker 1: with your assistant at the time? Answer I believe so.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Question and what would they talk about? Answer I don't know.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Question okay, answer schedules my schedule. Question and ordering things
- 12:13Speaker 1: for you and things like that? Answer no verbal response.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Question and do you know why miss Maxwell was working
- 12:20Speaker 1: with your assistant specifically to order the massage table? Answer?
- 12:24Speaker 1: I assume to get massages. Question for you to get massages? Answer?
- 12:28Speaker 1: I assume so. Question okay, and you have previously talked
- 12:31Speaker 1: to Miss Maxwell about wanting a massage table? Answer I
- 12:34Speaker 1: don't remember the exchange. Question Okay, do you know if
- 12:38Speaker 1: you ended up getting the massage table? Answer? I assume
- 12:41Speaker 1: at some point I did I get frequent massages? Question okay,
- 12:45Speaker 1: and you would get them at your home? Answer yes,
- 12:47Speaker 1: question and messuses would come to your house. Would Miss
- 12:51Speaker 1: Maxwell ever be involved in arranging those messuses to come
- 12:54Speaker 1: to your house? Answer? I don't recaller specifically arranging a massage.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It's just something I've done for quite some time. Also,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I was going through a divorce at this time. Question Okay,
- 13:06Speaker 1: that's all I have on this exhibit. Okay, then I'll
- 13:09Speaker 1: introduce I think what might be our last piece of
- 13:11Speaker 1: paper for you, and that'll be minority exhibit. I. Question.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That document is six or seven pages long. There's just
- 13:18Speaker 1: one bit of content that relates to you. On the
- 13:20Speaker 1: second to last page. You're welcome to scan. Answer second
- 13:24Speaker 1: to last page. Question, second to last page. Bottom of
- 13:28Speaker 1: the second to last page, there's a paragraph related to you,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and that's it. But I'm happy to give your counsel
- 13:33Speaker 1: a moment to look it over. Answer okay. Question. So
- 13:36Speaker 1: this is another FBI Form three h two. It's a
- 13:40Speaker 1: summary of an interview that the FBI conducted with an individual,
- 13:44Speaker 1: and elsewhere in the notes, the individual says that they
- 13:46Speaker 1: worked for mister Epstein and miss Maxwell between the years
- 13:50Speaker 1: of ninety six and two thousand and two, so before
- 13:53Speaker 1: you would have ever met Miss Maxwell, and the woman
- 13:55Speaker 1: says the person says that at one point were Miss
- 13:58Speaker 1: Maxwell's personal assistant and during that gap, so not overlapping
- 14:02Speaker 1: with your relationship with her. But the person says here
- 14:05Speaker 1: at the bottom of the second to last page ending
- 14:08Speaker 1: in eight oh eight, that in or around two thousand
- 14:10Speaker 1: and seven or eight, the person had a job interview
- 14:12Speaker 1: with Maxwell in California, and the person was interviewing to
- 14:15Speaker 1: work for you Ted Waite, whom Maxwell was dating at
- 14:18Speaker 1: the time. It was a project manager position. The person
- 14:22Speaker 1: did not get the job, and the person bought Maxwell
- 14:24Speaker 1: had said it was okay if she did not get
- 14:27Speaker 1: the job because it was labor intensive. Do you have
- 14:29Speaker 1: any recollection of this interview? Answer no, question. Do you
- 14:33Speaker 1: have any knowledge director indirect of the interview that the
- 14:36Speaker 1: person is describing Answer No, I don't recall question you
- 14:40Speaker 1: touched on this previous round, But did miss Maxwell often
- 14:43Speaker 1: interview staff on your behalf? Answer? She was experienced in
- 14:47Speaker 1: recruiting household staff, and so she spent I believe she
- 14:50Speaker 1: was involved in it. Question to your knowledge, did Miss
- 14:53Speaker 1: Maxwell ever interview or recruit anybody for your staff who
- 14:57Speaker 1: either you knew to be under the age of eighteen
- 14:59Speaker 1: or seemed to usually young to you? Answer no. Question
- 15:03Speaker 1: to your knowledge, did anyone refer to you to work
- 15:05Speaker 1: for Miss Maxwell ever disclosed anything about Epstein or Maxwell
- 15:09Speaker 1: committing crimes of any kind? Answer no. Question did you
- 15:14Speaker 1: have any knowledge of Miss Maxwell interviewing staff for you
- 15:17Speaker 1: when that staff member had previously worked for Epstein? Answer
- 15:20Speaker 1: I don't recall that question that it's on the document.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Thank you. A couple of last questions. Have you ever
- 15:26Speaker 1: met somebody by the name of Faith Kates? Answer Kate's question.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Kate's answer that name doesn't sound familiar to me? Question
- 15:34Speaker 1: and is it fair to deduce from your reaction that
- 15:37Speaker 1: you're not familiar with who that person is? Answer? No,
- 15:39Speaker 1: I don't recall question. Did you ever meet somebody by
- 15:42Speaker 1: the name Jean Luke Brunel. Answer. I believe one of
- 15:45Speaker 1: the instances where I ran into mister Epstein on the
- 15:48Speaker 1: street in St. Bart's he was with Jean Luke Brunel.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Question A part and that was a pretty limited interaction
- 15:54Speaker 1: I think as you described. Is that right? Answer? Yes?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Question I know you can't remember specifically, but maybe it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: a two minute conversation on the sidewalk type of thing.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Answer yeah, two or three. Question did you have any
- 16:05Speaker 1: knowledge outside of interactions as to who mister Brunell was?
- 16:09Speaker 1: Answer I believe Miss Maxwell said he owned a modeling agency.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Question did miss Maxwell describe any personal or professional relationship
- 16:17Speaker 1: that mister Brunell may have had with mister Epstein? Answer
- 16:20Speaker 1: she said they were friends. Question personal friends? Answer yes.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Question did miss Maxwell ever describe any kind of business
- 16:28Speaker 1: or financial relationship between mister Brunell and mister Epstein? Answer
- 16:32Speaker 1: not that I can recall. Question did miss Maxwell ever
- 16:35Speaker 1: describe that she herself had any kind of personal or
- 16:38Speaker 1: business relationship with Brunel? Answer no. Question And did miss
- 16:43Speaker 1: Maxwell ever mention or describe anything at all with respect
- 16:46Speaker 1: to mister Brunel that struck you as possibly criminal or
- 16:49Speaker 1: ethically problematic? Answer? Nothing? As criminal, but she did not.
- 16:54Speaker 1: She expressed a this like forum. I recall question, Well,
- 16:58Speaker 1: what do you recall as the nature for the reason
- 17:00Speaker 1: of that dislike answer? I don't recall. It's just like
- 17:03Speaker 1: he was not a good person, I think, is what
- 17:05Speaker 1: she said. Do you question, do you have any sense
- 17:08Speaker 1: of somebody cannot be a good person in a variety
- 17:11Speaker 1: of ways? Do you recall whether miss Maxwell ever implied
- 17:14Speaker 1: that the not good person concept came from any type
- 17:16Speaker 1: of financial misconduct, bad personal ethics, sexual related misconduct, any
- 17:21Speaker 1: color commentary? Wait, I don't recall question by redacted? And
- 17:27Speaker 1: is it correct to say that you personally never or
- 17:29Speaker 1: should I say? Mister Brunell was arrested in France in
- 17:31Speaker 1: twenty twenty for various alleged crimes. He took his own
- 17:35Speaker 1: life before his trial could proceed. Is it correct that
- 17:37Speaker 1: you yourself never had any knowledge of mister Brunell's alleged
- 17:41Speaker 1: crimes before those crimes became public? Answer? No question. We
- 17:44Speaker 1: have encountered several times the question of whether or not
- 17:48Speaker 1: mister Rapstein ever held himself out as a recruiter for
