- 0:01With a little patience, happy. What is?
- 0:09No, it's Monday. Hell, I thought it was Friday
- 0:11for a minute 'cause I feel good like you knew that I would now.
- 0:18Alright, it's Monday. I am leaving for Hot Planet
- 0:23baby. I'm going down there for Fox
- 0:26Factory. They make that the Black Widow
- 0:29truck. Here's that bad boy right there,
- 0:34boy, I'll tell you what they take.
- 0:36They take a stock Dodge, Ram, Chevrolet, Ford, whatever it is,
- 0:42and the warranty all stays good. And they take that stock truck.
- 0:46They run it across and they pimp that baby out and it's really
- 0:52nice. And I've enjoyed my Black Widow
- 0:56'cause I have been towing my my Jags Performers dirt car all
- 1:01year long with that bad boy. So I'm going to go down to
- 1:04Atlanta, do some commercials for them and I don't know what
- 1:08they're ever going to do with them, but I'll be down at the
- 1:10Atlanta Motor Speedway for Fox Factory in that Black Widow, a
- 1:14brand truck. All right, well, we just going
- 1:17to keep on rolling with the flow.
- 1:21I got my Angel raising kids who raising hell just like I did.
- 1:28I'd say singing morning everybody all right.
- 1:32So last night we had one person say he was teasing he said
- 1:37Herman, you're winning all in dirt races because you still got
- 1:41that NASCAR money. I've, I've never had so much fun
- 1:46with something as I have with that.
- 1:49We, we created a logo and said it's Kenny Wallace, but we had
- 1:54like the NASCAR logo with money dropping off.
- 1:58So anyway, on a serious note, you know, I've said this before,
- 2:05but just a reminder and I decided to go ahead and talk
- 2:09about this because I think it'll help people.
- 2:13I really do. And, you know, sometimes people
- 2:18equate money to to, you know, winning everything.
- 2:24So last night Kim and I got on Netflix and this this Netflix
- 2:31special really affected me. It was all about nature boy, Ric
- 2:37Flair or his real name, Ric Fleer FLEIHR.
- 2:41Anyway, did you know that that Ric Flair is still living?
- 2:48But it was, it hurt my heart a little bit for nature.
- 2:53Boy, what a legend. Wow.
- 2:56Everybody knows I've always, you know, enjoyed celebrating, you
- 3:02know, Ric Flair with my little dance and, you know,
- 3:05championship belt. But Rick.
- 3:08Rick got himself in trouble because he didn't take care of
- 3:11his money. And so I want to, I want to talk
- 3:15about money for a little bit just because I want to teach you
- 3:19all something that I learned years ago.
- 3:23Well, you know, I was born right here.
- 3:25Hell, this property that I bought, I used to pass as a as a
- 3:30kid on school bus. I'd come right by here and I,
- 3:33and there was 2 houses on this property.
- 3:37So years later I come back, they put me in the Fox High School
- 3:43Hall of Fame and I bought this property.
- 3:47Really strange for me to grow up as a child and, and not have any
- 3:52money. And you know, I would cash soda
- 3:56bottles in and ride up to the McDonald's.
- 3:58You know, first of all, we go to 711, cash the soda bottles and
- 4:02get that money, go to McDonald's.
- 4:04And, and I'll never forget when I was a kid, I'm like, one of
- 4:07these days I'm going to grow up and instead of getting a, a
- 4:11hamburger, small fries and a small Coke.
- 4:14And I was serious. I'm serious when I say this.
- 4:17I said one of these days when I grow up I'm going to get me a
- 4:19Big Mac, large fry and large coke.
- 4:23Can't make that shit up. I'm serious.
- 4:25So because of my early days of not having any money, when I got
- 4:32my first money, whether it's my first job repairing vacuum
- 4:36cleaners or cleaning, cleaning sewers out you, you could find
- 4:41me in the city streets in Saint Louis.
- 4:44What my first job was, I worked for Arnold Reuter, but we had a,
- 4:50we had a, my job was to clean out the manholes under the
- 4:55ground could see telephone wires run underground in the city.
- 4:58Think about it. You don't see any telephone
- 5:01poles in the city. So what you would do is you
- 5:05would run the telephone wires underground in the city, in the
- 5:09city. Everything's a song today,
- 5:12Herman Yes, it is. Told you there's three of me,
- 5:15but two right now because I'm answering myself.
- 5:18So anyway, all my friends used to come by and see me in the mid
- 5:2380s because I graduated high school in 81.
- 5:25And I would, I would pump the water out of the manholes and
- 5:30then I would maintain them. I would ground them so they
- 5:32would not electrocute. I put new steps in them.
- 5:35I'd clean them out with dawn dishwashing.
- 5:38Anyway, my friends would see me down there.
- 5:41So here's the point. Money was a big deal to me.
- 5:45I always saved it when I was a kid.
- 5:47I had grown-ups wanting to borrow money from me before I
- 5:51ever went NASCAR. So you can bet your sweet ass
- 5:54when I started making big money I rabbit hole it, I squirreled
- 5:59my money away. So watching that Ric Flair deal
- 6:04last night, I thought, you know, I know a lot of NASCAR racers to
- 6:08this day, they were way better than me, but I got a lot more
- 6:13money than them. And here's why.
- 6:16Because they always felt like the money was going to be there
- 6:20because they were doing so good. Some of my closest NASCAR
- 6:25friends, they'll confide in me and I'll tell them how much
- 6:27money I'll have. No, like, holy crap, how'd you
- 6:30do that? I said, well, it's pretty
- 6:32simple. I saved all my money.
- 6:36I invested in real estate, then I cashed out.
- 6:39I sold all my real estate, then put that money in the stock
- 6:43market at 19,000. And today the stock market's up
- 6:48to 42. So here's the lesson today, you
- 6:59don't have to win everything to have money.
- 7:05You have to be smart. More people when they win
- 7:09everything. You mean one of the greatest
- 7:11stories of all time? It's a cautionary tale.
- 7:14Was Darryl Strawberry, the great New York Mets baseball player.
- 7:19This guy had more money than anybody and ended up broke as a
- 7:24joke because, yeah, you get an entourage around you and you
- 7:28start handing money out, then all of a sudden you don't save
- 7:30for a rainy day. And then Brother Rusty taught me
- 7:33the biggest, biggest lesson in my life.
- 7:37And Bobby Allison, you know, spun out, had that left her flat
- 7:41at Pocono, Bobby Allison spun out that tunnel turn and Bobby
- 7:45Allison sadly got hit the door. That changes life.
- 7:48Forever, brother. Rusty looked at me, Goes Herman.
- 7:53Hope for the best. Hope, hope for the best.
- 8:00Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best.
- 8:04Prepare for the worst. So I've always lived my life
- 8:07very negatively with money. You will never, ever see my last
- 8:14dollar. That's a how.
- 8:16That's how afraid I am of going broke.
- 8:19I will never be broke ever, because I never acquired the
- 8:26success that I wanted. So I didn't win one NASCAR race,
- 8:31not one. And I'm and I'm worth millions
- 8:35and millions. Let me see million million
- 8:37million million million million million million million million
- 8:39dollars. Stop and think about that.
- 8:41Let that be a lesson. And I want to encourage
- 8:45everybody that that you can do that too.
- 8:48I never won one NASCAR race. Well, I won nine Xfinity races,
- 8:54but I got invested in real estate and all my friends that
- 8:57won a lot. They're broke.
- 8:59Broke as a son of a bitch. So Darrell Strawberry and Ric
- 9:05Flair, their stories are, what are they?
- 9:10They're cautionary tales. I hope that inspires all of you.
- 9:16Just do good with your money.
