Latest / Duval Daily: A Jacksonville Jaguars Podcast / JAGUARS BEST TEAM IN AFC? — NFL POWER RANKINGS
Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax, coffee, best coffee and town, right now we are talking some power rankings talking some disrespect around the web for your Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of...
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: went around and looked at all the different big websites, power rankings, and we talked about the athletic, I think, or, no, no, we talked about the ringer, I think had the Jaguars at 14, and that was a couple of weeks ago, I thought that was pretty disrespectful.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Since then, you've seen some more power rankings come out, a lot of people putting out power rankings after the Miles Garrett and AJ Brown trades.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: I decided, you know, just take a look.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Bleacher report, ESPN, et cetera.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: The highest I saw the Jack Wars was 10th, which I think you can make a reasonable argument for 10.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: The lowest I saw them was 17.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: which is confounding and Liam Cohen to his credit.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is just, I mean, he's incredibly smart, but he is on the money.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Respect to Hank Cummins.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's not coming.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: And foolish of me to see a Jacksonville Jaguar's team that went 13 and 4, despite some things really not going the way they expected, 13 and 4,
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: that get paid to talk about the NFL, to write about the NFL, ranking them 17.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think ESPN's football power index has them at 17.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's incredible.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to kind of take a look around the league and I'm going to place the jackwares where I think they should be.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Talk about the rest of the AFC, because I think really you can split it up into the two conferences.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can talk about the jackwares obviously compared to the NFC teams that are ahead of them as well in the power rankings and around them in the power rankings.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm excited to get into it power rankings are pointless, they are meaningless, but they are fun, right?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately,
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that like the list matters less than the context added to the list, right?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all being here supporting the channel.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button, helps out a ton.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: You can also check out jingyak.com, pick up some new Duval gear.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: So looking at power rankings, the Rams and Seahawks, in my opinion, should be one and two.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: easily without question.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Rams are a better team than the C-hawks.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Rams were a better team than the C-hawks before they signed or traded for Miles Garrett.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: And look, Jared verse, great player.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Great player.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: But not Miles Garrett, right?
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that's a big upgrade.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: C-hawks for me should be number two.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: They're the Super Bowl champs.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: They lost a little bit here
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's possible that they end up slipping further than that because, again, they lose their, to me, the biggest loss they had was Clint Kubeyak, like that was a big, big loss.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: But they lost a couple other pieces here and there, good players, Kenneth Walker, believe boy, I'm off a left as well.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll be fine.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll still be really good.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: See, I'll see, I still have a number too, but you can make the argument for them slipping down a little bit behind some of the the AFC teams that are right there.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of people are incredibly high on the Patriots.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I am fairly high on the Patriots myself.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: AJ Brown trade.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: I do think really matters.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: People
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's been like, you know, AJ Brown didn't have a great season last year.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: There's been some like mal-content type of things from him.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Diva type of things from him.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, welcome to the world of NFL wide receivers that are superstars, right?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of those guys that they've been doing a lot of great things were a long time.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of have that diva mentality.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's just the way it is.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: And even though he has
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: some diva to him.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: He also plays like an absolute badass.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: So AJ Brown getting back with rabble obviously, the whole variable thing kind of hanging over their heads, but that could be a rallying cry quite honestly within that building for that team going to bat for their coach.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I don't think anyone's condoning what happened, but that's still their guy.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: I can see that being a rallying cry.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think that they are better than the Jaguars?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I certainly did not before they got A.J.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Brown.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that's a difference maker.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is the type of receiver that can take over a game.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: But honestly, I still don't think they're better more well-rounded team than the Jags.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I have the Rams and the C-Ox still ahead of the Jags.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I did not have the Patriots ahead of the jags.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: The next few teams normally on these lists are the Broncos, the Bills, and the Texans after the Patriots.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: So the Broncos, each of these teams, Patriots, Broncos, and Bills, each added a really good receiver.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: So that is something to keep in mind.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Denver Broncos added jail and water.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: That was unbelievable.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I still think the Jags are better than the Broncos.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags have a new superpower in my opinion, heading into 2026 that they did not have for most of 2025, and that is Travis Hunter playing CB1.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: And Buster Brown really having emerged in this system as CB2.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter is going to help so much against some of these elite receivers.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: So for me, Jaguars and Broncos are close.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars obviously beat up on them in Denver last year.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: The Broncos have improved since then.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars have improved since then.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna still have the Jaguars ahead of the Broncos, mainly because I think Trevor Lawrence is a lot, lot better than Bo Nix.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Jaguars passing attack is going to be a lot better than the Broncos passing attack.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's the big separator there for me.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now when it comes to the bills, I think the jaggers are better team to me.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't prove they were the better team against the bills.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the bills have made a lot of changes.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, had coach was their offensive coordinator and their defensive coordinator.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: They added DJ Moore.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: They've done a lot to improve.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: They have.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I would have the bills honestly ahead of the Patriots and Broncos in the AFC.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they've earned being ahead of the Jaguars as well.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the first team in the AFC that I actually would put just above the Jaguars.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's neck and neck right there.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna continue chatting about this, but first got to remind y'all about underdog fantasy.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: There is a $1 million pot for the finals.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: All you gotta do is pick who will lead the series and steals, and you'll earn your piece of the $1 million pot, pick your player, every game include their steals stat, series ends, steal leader crowned.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Pot gets split among everyone who called it simple as that.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: The $1 million pot will get split right there.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: So underdog, it's really the best user experience and user interface out there.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I feel so strongly about that.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: I highly encourage you to check it out.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: This week, obviously, tonight, finals.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm taking Jalen Bronson to go higher than 25.

- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: So, as I mentioned, I have the bills just ahead of the jacks.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen, really good offensive coaching, offensive additions, good offensive line, talented defense overall.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think that defense is going to be really well coached.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Texans, I have the jacks ahead of the Texans.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar better team than the Texans last year.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: I know the Texans improved their offensive line.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: They improved their defense at different levels as well.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the Jaguars are just a better coached team top to bottom.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have a lot more talent in their passing game on offense overall.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Jaguar's defense is going to be damn good.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I believe the past rush will be better because of Travis Hunter.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: and also the health of Trayvon Walker and Eric Armstead.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: I believe they're a seaving game will be better because of Brian Thomas Jr., actually being healthy right now.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: I believe, and also just locking in a little bit more, I also believe like, Travis Hunter is going to massively improve the Jaguar's past rush.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm at, man, this is my honest opinion on this.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: So I have the Jaguars ahead of the Texans.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I have the Jaguars ahead of the Broncos and the Patriots.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: I have them behind the Bills.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: And the next three teams that you usually see in this area are the 49ers, the Bears and the Eagles.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll just be honest right now.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna have them ahead of all of those teams.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars beat the 49ers last year.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're still better than the 49ers.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know the 49ers.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, health is always the question with them, um, won't really get a chance to see the jackwares in the 49ers match up.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Unless it's in February, I'm gonna have the jacks out of the 49ers.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have,
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: the jags ahead of the bears and we'll actually get to see them play and have the jags ahead of the Eagles.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think losing AJ Brown is massive and I know they went and they got some young guys right and they have Devante Smith but AJ Brown is a force multiplier like no one else that they have right now.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm gonna have the Jags ahead of the Bears and Eagles and we'll actually get to test those theories because they're gonna play both of those teams.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: So, to me, Jags are behind Rams, Seahawks, Bills.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you've got some other teams that are right below the Jag wars are around the Jag wars and a lot of the rankings.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Chargers, Packers, Lions, Ravens, Bucks, Chiefs, Cowboys, I've got the jacks ahead of all those teams.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've proved that they're a better team than those on the field or just by their performance throughout the season, the Ravens are one that can obviously always be at the top.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe in kind of the path that they have taken for the most part.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: getting Jesse Mentor, I'm always going to be like Ravens are pretty damn good.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Lions, I think are going to be pretty damn good.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Packers, I think will be very good.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: They usually are the chargers.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: Look, the jacks just stomped the chargers.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: And the chargers have always dealt with just this and that, different, whatever it may be.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: Season in and season out.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just been a tough road for them.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Bengals are another team that I do think could really kind of push in the AFC.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: But as of right now, I have the Jaguar II and the AFC behind the Buffalo Bills.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: The only teams in the NFC, I have ahead of them are two teams that beat them last year.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: The Rams and the Seahawks, so I have the Jaguar as currently fourth in my power rankings for the 2026 NFL season.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: That might sound extremely bullish, but again, I believe that their passing game is a super power.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it's going to be even better this year because Brian Thomas Jr's going to be better.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Williams is he's looking good and his college tape is pretty darn good.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: That could be a a really nice addition to the back end of the receiving room.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter obviously being able to play receiver as well.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: That could be a big game changer for them down the stretch.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he made big plays for them when he was out there.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: Just think about the chiefs game.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Think about some of the catch and runs he had.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Think about the game against the Rams.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to see Travis Hunter on both sides of the ball, and then again defensively, best run defense in the league was only bolstered with the moves they made in my mind.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then, like in the draft, you know, you went and got Albert Reedus, great run defender, you went and got Wesley Williams, really good run defender on the defensive front.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: You've got good run defenders at the second, third level.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think that run defense is going to be just as good if not better.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: didn't lose anything really there, except you could argue Devon Lloyd, but I think Vintro Miller is a better more consistent run defender than Devon Lloyd, at least on the same tier.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then, past rush-wise, like I mentioned, I think Josh Hinds Allen, Trayvon Walker, Eric Armstead, that combination of guys went fully healthy.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: Again, two out of those three were playing injured, a lot of the back half of last season when the Jaguars were really struggling to consistently create pressure on top of the fact
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: you have Greg Newsom who was just not suited to play in the Jaguars defensive system off the ball, getting consistently targeted and beat.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: He just wasn't built for that system.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so you sub out somebody who was allowing a passer rating of like over 110 in primary coverage with Travis Hunter, I think that's going to work out pretty darn well.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, very high on the Jaguars.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they're extremely well coached on offense, defense, and special teams.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot forget about that part, that plays a part.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars could very well be the best special teams, best coached and best special teams unit in the league this year, top to bottom.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: with Logan Cook at Punner, Kim Little at Kicker, Ross Matasick, Long Snapper.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: You've got a bevy of really good special teams, players, course, special teamers that are good at going down and tackling.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Wesley Williams.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: You just added, I think, had like five blocked kicks and impacted a lot more during his college career.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I think special teams is going to be special for the Jaguars.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got them as the current number 14 in the NFL.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know where you would have the Jaguar's power ring as of right now.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: Respect and come in, but I'm going to give the Jaguar a lot of respect here on this channel.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have earned it and then some really appreciate y'all be in here.
