[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome back to the Grey Malkin Lane Patreon channel where we get to talk about oft overlooked characters.
• 0:04
[SPEAKER_01]: The odd theme if you've been listening on the show in December is eyeball horror.
• 0:10
[SPEAKER_01]: And today we get to talk about the most horrifying eyeball character of all the orb.
• 0:15
[SPEAKER_01]: You have probably heard of this guy or the backwards is bro and I think that
• 0:23
[SPEAKER_01]: This guy is a weird, there are two versions of him.
• 0:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And I get to invite two very dear friends of mine who get to meet for the first time today.
• 0:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Scaram Cosplay and Tom O'Connor are here.
• 0:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me have you both introduce yourselves with your pronouns and tell me, what is it about eyeballs in horror or eyeballs that just freak you out in general?
• 0:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been an interesting theme to explore this month.
• 0:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me welcome Tom O'Connor back to the show.
• 0:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: Hi, Tom.
• 0:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Chad.
• 0:49
[SPEAKER_02]: So glad to be back here.
• 0:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And to talk about the orb pronouns.
• 0:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: He him.
• 0:53
[SPEAKER_02]: So glad to be back.
• 0:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
• 0:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I've always just had a thing about eyeballs, like they just freaking me out.
• 1:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Even like zoom in on like say a movie or something like on to an eyeball makes me want to run away screaming.
• 1:07
[SPEAKER_02]: So for whatever reason, I signed up to do this chat with you, but I'm glad to do it.
• 1:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I was glad to learn more about the orb, although I may have been out of engrossed out of the entire time.
• 1:17
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's pretty gross.
• 1:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me also look at my arms, Garam, back, hi, Haram.
• 1:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: Hi, Chad.
• 1:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for having me back.
• 1:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, pronouns are they've been.
• 1:25
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the one thing that freaks me out about eyeballs in horror, it's not the eyeballs themselves.
• 1:31
[SPEAKER_00]: It's anything that can happen to them because we've seen so many different things that happen to eyes, they get couched out, they get pierced with something with the final destination movies.
• 1:40
[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen what happened with like the one that had different turning with eyes and leasing and everything, which isn't that can't happen everybody.
• 1:48
[SPEAKER_00]: You can get leasing surgery if you feel like getting leasing surgery.
• 1:55
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, um, if anybody's watching welcome to dairy right now, we've seen like the most horrific thing that can happen with eyes.
• 2:01
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not giving any spoilers, but we saw that horror tropes, and I'm just going to grow everybody up for a minute.
• 2:06
[SPEAKER_01]: But we've talked about this a little on the show as we've explored different eyeball characters from eyeball to uh, or a cerata and in between, but eyeballs, I think.
• 2:14
[SPEAKER_01]: there's the thing of like being watched that's part of it right like the moving eye and the painting that eye looking through the people the eye able to see through the wall like Professor X is like floating in the corner his little astral head right like those kinds of things so we get to talk about the character third eye in relation to that and kind of like Astral projection.
• 2:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But in I'm a horror itself, it's eyes bleeding, it's eyes punctured, it's eyes gouged out with a spoon.
• 2:37
[SPEAKER_01]: It's, you know, being struck blind and having like the eyes go white, there's all these ways that this horror trope shows up.
• 2:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's an unpleasant thing to talk about, but we see it in all horror all the time.
• 2:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I was brought this up as a research study interested with someone recently and they were like gross.
• 2:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but we have feelings about it.
• 2:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you there's something about vulnerability There's also like horror tropes about um, if you can see like wait until dark where like a someone who is blind is Trying to fend for herself in her apartment as men are attacking her.
• 3:07
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like it's like a stage play that was turned into a film
• 3:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So the idea of blindness is also, I think, deeply, uh, discary for people who are able to perceive the word that we're all differently.
• 3:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Now I have some dear blind friends who are doing just fine, right?
• 3:20
[SPEAKER_01]: But uh, but I think the horror genre still exists as is.
• 3:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So in 1973, we have the new Ghost Rider title.
• 3:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Ghost Rider was originally like a 1950s hero, and then this is like the newer version.
• 3:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's John Blaze.
• 3:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Marvel is really leaning into like the evil,
• 3:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And John Blaze is like a motorcycle rider who makes a deal with the devil for reasons you don't need to worry about today.
• 3:45
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a demon that like possesses him and then he gets like a flaming skull motorcycle riding, you know, body, he's a he's a
• 3:53
[SPEAKER_01]: an interesting character who has had a lot of horror tropes, but back in the 70s, he was less horror and more like motorcycle.
• 3:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It just was like a demon guy on a motorcycle and a lot of his villains, our motorcycle villains, including the first orb who's just a guy with like a motorcycle helmet on who it just looks like an eyeball.
• 4:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the original character we're going to be talking about.
• 4:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Herum, I'm gonna be asking you questions about monsters today.
• 4:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Herum has an interest in, like the conversations around fucking monsters that you can talk more about your origins with that if you like, but is Ghost Rider fuckable, is my first question for you?
• 4:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Ghost Rider is fuckable, though.
• 4:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's hard to say whether it is a monster, not exactly, you just a guy who made a deal with a devil in order to gain these to go ahead, punish people for their sins in a way.
• 4:39
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to want to kiss as like flaming mandibles.
• 4:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You might not want to kiss a flaming head for sure.
• 4:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're going to get there and debris burns.
• 4:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, you might not want him to go down on UI there because I don't know what's going to happen down.
• 4:51
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a very sensitive area to be burned.
• 4:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's going to be all over the place today.
• 4:55
[SPEAKER_01]: So this may be a rated R episode where just letting you know in advance.
• 4:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we're going to jump to Marvel team up 15 by Len Ween in Los Andro.
• 5:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's 1973.
• 5:02
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Spider-Man Ghost Rider team up and the story is called if an eye offended the now be ready everyone for very large amounts of eye puns and eye horror as we move forward.
• 5:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Peter Parker and Mary Jane are at the new Ghost Rider Motorcycle Stunt Show and it comes a brand new super villain on his own motorcycle.
• 5:18
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's wearing a red suit.
• 5:20
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got an eyeball helmet and he has his own motorcycle gang.
• 5:24
[SPEAKER_02]: The Orban his man go anywhere they like and right now they like it here.
• 5:28
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the voice you're getting for the first orb.
• 5:30
[SPEAKER_01]: A cop draws a gun, but the orb looks at him and convinces him to put it back away because he's creepy.
• 5:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Then the orb looks at the crowd and they are all mesmerized.
• 5:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Albit Peter Parker, who has turned his gaze away at the right moment, he webs up into the rafters to change into Spider-Man, and the orb takes Roxanne Simpson, the girlfriend of Ghost Strider, or Johnny Blaze captive.
• 5:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Ghost Strider thinks that escapee from an occultist display sign has grabbed Rocky, which is over me.
• 5:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: if any read.
• 5:57
[SPEAKER_01]: As the heroes fight the others, the orb makes the civilians clog up the arena so he can get away and they all speak in unison for the orb who's hypnotized them.
• 6:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Johnny Blaze called the Ghost Rider.
• 6:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Each of us has something the other wants, so I offer you a tray the life of Roxanne Simpson in exchange for complete ownership of the cycle show that bears your name.
• 6:19
[SPEAKER_01]: You will have two hours to contemplate your decision.
• 6:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Then I will contact you again.
• 6:24
[SPEAKER_01]: So the orb takes Roxanne to his weird basement layer and ties her up in a chair and releases her from the trance.
• 6:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, who are you?
• 6:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: Who am I?
• 6:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Why I suppose it's difficult to recognize me through my special helmet?
• 6:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Not that you would, of course, after all you haven't seen me since you weren't infant.
• 6:41
[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Drake Shan and Roxanne, and once many years ago I was your father's partner.
• 6:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Your father and I began your cycle show together, but with different attitudes.
• 6:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Soon your father was calling me reckless, a menace on wheels.
• 6:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I in turn called him a weak, neat fool.
• 6:56
[SPEAKER_01]: The partnership was obviously doomed, but since neither of us wanted to sell out, we arranged the only logical alternative.
• 7:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Across country race to the finish, winter take all.
• 7:05
[SPEAKER_01]: We'd gotten together because we were the two best writers on the circuit, and then after noon we proved it.
• 7:10
[SPEAKER_01]: For Miles, neither of us could gain an inch on the other, but unlike your father, I wasn't opposed to arranging my success.
• 7:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I swirved to not crash out of the running, but that isn't exactly what happened.
• 7:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it was a grease slick rock in the road that Crash kept his cycle steady while mine skitted wildly out of control.
• 7:29
[SPEAKER_01]: At 95 miles an hour, my motorcycle threw me, Roxanne, and my momentum sent me, scutterin' along the tarmac for more than 25 yards on my face.
• 7:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd been in the hospital weeks before they let me have visitors.
• 7:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Your father was the first, and only.
• 7:44
[SPEAKER_01]: So we flashback to the hospital.
• 7:45
[SPEAKER_01]: We're shanning as we're ranting while his face and hands are covered in bandages.
• 7:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Crushed him since he says, I'm sorry, this happened Drake.
• 7:52
[SPEAKER_01]: If only there'd been some way, sure, crash old sport, you can afford to be sorry.
• 7:56
[SPEAKER_01]: The cycle show is yours now for real, but someday Simpson it will be mine.
• 8:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Go on, get out of here.
• 8:03
[SPEAKER_01]: We go flash back to the present.
• 8:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I never saw your father again, never saw much of anyone after that.
• 8:08
[SPEAKER_01]: When the hospital released me, I became a loner and outcast, if you will.
• 8:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Shun by people wherever I went until at last I stopped going anywhere.
• 8:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd reach the end when they found me.
• 8:19
[SPEAKER_01]: They gave me this hypnotic helmet and the courage to ride a cycle again.
• 8:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Now finally, that show would be mine as it was meant to be.
• 8:27
[SPEAKER_01]: When that race was over, your father had everything and all I had was
• 8:31
[SPEAKER_01]: this and he pulls off his helmet and it's a truly horrifying reveal.
• 8:35
[SPEAKER_01]: He looks like the cryptic or under there.
• 8:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's all melted.
• 8:39
[SPEAKER_01]: The orb without his helmet is a haram fuccable?
• 8:41
  [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
• 8:42
  [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
• 8:43
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's not it.
• 8:44
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's listen, listen.
• 8:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody out there wants to talk.
• 8:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
• 8:49
  [SPEAKER_00]: Someone out there does.
• 8:51
  [SPEAKER_00]: Not me.
• 8:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Rucksaint yells, he thinks it's a horrible, it is indeed now and for 20 years of living with it, I'll have your cycle show over your life.
• 9:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing else will satisfy me, but Ghost Rider is there, and he's brought the deed for the cycle show.
• 9:07
[SPEAKER_01]: It turns out it's a forgery by the way, so he's tricking the guy and he hands it over.
• 9:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's prepared to walk away with Roxanne, but the orb has his hypnotized men draw guns, then spider-man is there, the goons are defeated, or rushes away on his motorcycle once again with Roxanne as captive and both heroes follow on their bikes.
• 9:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Orb is firing laser guns behind him to cover his escape as he rides right into Grand Central Station.
• 9:31
[SPEAKER_01]: They disarm him, rescue the girl, and orb rides his bike into an oncoming train.
• 9:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And that, my friends, is a
• 9:40
[SPEAKER_01]: To make things weird, the guys who powered him up are from the mystic city of El Dorado.
• 9:44
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a group called Be Who Weeld Power.
• 9:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And the only X-Men connection for these dudes is that they also gave Moses Magnum the technology to do the earthquake in the X-Men.
• 9:53
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you should do a number of one-nineteen.
• 9:55
[SPEAKER_01]: You can go look those characters up on your own.
• 9:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom, what are your thoughts on the origins of Drake Shannon?
• 10:00
  [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yikes.
• 10:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, that was, that was all, that was very, that was all taken, I'm like, there's the consistent trope of like the villain got burned and then became so ugly and unlovable that they were a super villain after that, right?
• 10:17
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is like, I don't know, it's fun to tie this character into like the origins of the Ghost Rider, if suppose, uh,
• 10:25
[SPEAKER_01]: his little like hypno eyeball helmet is a fun gimmick to I don't know.
• 10:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like him.
• 10:31
[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's so curious and you actually got me at a funny time in which I was sort of embarking on a sort of like a spooky season sort of reading a project that I'd done.
• 10:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I just read all of Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider Run and the orb shows up in that clearly different orb.
• 10:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Aaron loves the orb.
• 10:48
[SPEAKER_02]: I was just about to say like he's he sort of weaves him into like kind of everything he does but at the same time you were just talking and I was like Wait a minute, is he also trying to make a call back to this orb origin other orb?
• 10:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but we'll get to orb two in a few minutes So he shows up next in Ghost Rider 14 and 15 so still early 70s He's posing as a ghost from beyond the grave and he claims his hate is so deep that he has power now to control crowds
• 11:14
[SPEAKER_01]: The orb is there to claim a million dollar bounty on the head of Karen Page.
• 11:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Daredevil's girlfriend, who is in Johnny Blazes book for a little while.
• 11:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love Karen Page.
• 11:24
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love her.
• 11:25
[SPEAKER_01]: She's one of my favorite Marvel 60s girls.
• 11:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And he takes mental control of page while sparring with Ghost Rider on a film lot, both of them are on motorcycles.
• 11:33
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a high speed chaser over a bridge and the orb is fire resistant because of his quote
• 11:42
[SPEAKER_01]: and Ghost Raider ends up beating the eyeball, helmet, right off of the orb, and then Karen takes pity and she says, look, it is face Johnny.
• 11:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: Has any suffered enough?
• 11:53
[SPEAKER_01]: He's back again in Ghost Raider 28.
• 11:56
[SPEAKER_01]: He hypnotizes Roxanne, Simpson again, and the biker gang into attacking Johnny Blaze.
• 12:01
[SPEAKER_01]: The orb gets to tie a chain to Ghost Raiders' feet and drag him behind his motorcycle before Ghost Raiders beats him up, knocks his helmet off, throws him off a cliff, which because the orb triggered a landslide, and then blasts him with Hellfire.
• 12:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's back in Ghost Raiders 54 in a story called Orb of Evil Eye of Doom, and he's had plastic surgery.
• 12:22
[SPEAKER_01]: It cost him a quarter of a million dollars to try to rebuild the flesh of his face.
• 12:26
[SPEAKER_01]: But then he chose to go after Ghost Raider again.
• 12:28
  [SPEAKER_01]: He hypnotizes some guys.
• 12:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: He kidnapped Gina Langtree.
• 12:31
[SPEAKER_01]: He battles Ghost Raider in the desert.
• 12:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Ghost Raider sears orb with Hellfire, but spares his life because Gina begs for it.
• 12:37
[SPEAKER_01]: So these women always feel very sorry for him somehow.
• 12:40
[SPEAKER_01]: But the plastic surgery melts off in the Hellfire.
• 12:43
[SPEAKER_01]: And so all that money was wasted and orb now needs revenge again.
• 12:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that orb has made a lot of mistakes and choices in his life.
• 12:51
[SPEAKER_00]: And he probably shouldn't have.
• 12:52
[SPEAKER_00]: He should have stayed just riding motorcycle with his friend.
• 12:55
[SPEAKER_00]: He had no reason to do any of this.
• 12:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's taking it out on his friend's daughter.
• 12:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys remember there's a bunch of characters like this?
• 13:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was an early x-force kid.
• 13:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And whenever x-force fought the muting liberation front, Shatterstar would always chop off Reaper's hand.
• 13:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you remember that.
• 13:10
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like a gimmick where like a character's eyeball will fall out over and over and over and every time they come that's what happens to them.
• 13:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the orb is a character to be punched.
• 13:19
[SPEAKER_01]: he's a hilarious villain who ends up getting badly burned and hit by trains and he's almost like wily coyote at this point which is kind of a funny read on him.
• 13:29
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a silly camp gimmick villain, but I kind of, I kind of am fond of him.
• 13:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's entertaining.
• 13:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's back in Ghost Raider 63, call in a story called if the eyes destroy me, he robbed some trucks, hypnotizes the guards into forgetting, and then he buys a super eyeball helmet from Madam Menace, or Sunset May and Glucor Up.
• 13:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: She's a flood character.
• 13:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, he's now 3.5 times more powerful than the last, uh, or helmet.
• 13:55
[SPEAKER_01]: So he can see better than ever, but Ghost Raider now can now create bikes out of Hellfire and is kind of like upgraded to a demon form more than ever.
• 14:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Orb has got like heat-seeking tech which are little eyeballs that will track you and seek you out and blow up.
• 14:10
[SPEAKER_01]: They're like little eyeball bullets, and Ghost Rider still has his hellfire, so the orb is destroyed.
• 14:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom, are we a fan of the eyeball bullets?
• 14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know what you want me to say.
• 14:19
  [SPEAKER_02]: The eyeball bullets?
• 14:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh my gosh, is there anything closer?
• 14:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I adore a gimmick villain like in Batman right like catwomen's not just gonna like make a bomb She's gonna make a bomb shaped like a cat right like Love a brand um that he he at least he's passionate and you know likes to put his stamp on everything
• 14:40
  [SPEAKER_02]: does.
• 14:41
[SPEAKER_02]: We can say that, right?
• 14:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So I got these issues off the back issue rack when I worked at the comic shop.
• 14:46
[SPEAKER_01]: So this was my first show of my first read of the orb in solo Avengers 19 and 20.
• 14:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Hawkeye has pursued the orb into the desert.
• 14:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this story's freely ridiculous.
• 14:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
• 14:57
[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this a little bit in the plant man episode for those that have heard.
• 15:00
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're in the desert and Hawkeye uses a suction cup arrow to pull or off of his motorcycle in turn or the fire is a blast that destroys Hawkeye's sky sled.
• 15:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So now they are in the desert but Orb gets a head injury so he has to take his like helmet off and we see his like grotesque like movie monster face but he has like a head wrap around his head because he's been wounded and he's playing it up pretty hard here.
• 15:25
[SPEAKER_01]: So Hawkeye makes a stretcher and just like starts pulling him through the desert and it's not going well and eventually they come up on a dome that has a bunch of life inside and it's been built by plant man and there are some truly crazy images in this.
• 15:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Plant man has like plant people and plant creatures and plant monsters.
• 15:43
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like fruit growing on trees with like faces on them.
• 15:46
[SPEAKER_01]: It's this weird fucking like little city that plant man has built out of plants.
• 15:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Orben Hawkeye escaped, but the desert is still there, and plant man comes after them basically.
• 15:57
[SPEAKER_01]: On a vendor spotlight 21, between 20 and 21, the series changed titles.
• 16:03
[SPEAKER_01]: It went from solo Avengers to a vendor spotlight.
• 16:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So it continues in a vendor spotlight 21, where Orben is on the cover with his head bandages, making fun of Hawkeye with the pun on the cover.
• 16:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're in for it bow-zo, like B-O-W, like bow-and-airrow, and the title of the lead story is, I've been to the desert with an orb with no shame, cause I've been to the desert with an orb with no shame.
• 16:27
[SPEAKER_01]: We open on the orb trying to choke Hawkeye out on the title page, and if they're gonna die on the desert, he's gonna kill Hawkeye with his bare hands first.
• 16:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll watch the sun bleach your bones first, Hawkeye.
• 16:37
[SPEAKER_01]: after a fist to Orbs faced and a threat to leave him behind, he's so whiny, the Orbs.
• 16:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Orbs instead begs for mercy, he then drinks all like basically all of Hawkeye's water from his canteen and then is like, I still need more water.
• 16:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, they find the city or like a real city and Orb rushes into the town fountain as Hawkeye thinks, guess you can lead an Orb to water and make him drink.
• 16:58
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of bad puns in here.
• 17:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Orbler choices because he knows where this town was going to be the whole time and his motorcycle gang is here.
• 17:05
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's a trap.
• 17:06
[SPEAKER_01]: He yells and he tells Hawkeye now.
• 17:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I will have my revenge.
• 17:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But instead the gang opens fire on the orb.
• 17:12
[SPEAKER_01]: He shot multiple times like dead because plant man has replaced the Orbbs gang with plant creatures who are now writing motorcycles around.
• 17:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I summer is a lot of that very quickly, but holy shit, uh, Drake Shannon is dead like he's dead forever because his plant motorcycle gang killed him.
• 17:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Haram, how are we doing with this story?
• 17:32
[SPEAKER_00]: This guy can't really catch a break.
• 17:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And also, Hawkeye's fucking, you can lead a, uh, orb to water and make him drink.
• 17:39
[SPEAKER_00]: That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, but also this guy is from the circus.
• 17:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So what am I supposed to expect from him?
• 17:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to know more about these plant creatures though.
• 17:48
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's interesting.
• 17:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like a weird version of horror and almost gives like muppets energy like where I like labyrinth energy these like weird creatures.
• 17:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Do we have thoughts on the now you're in for it bozo pun?
• 18:00
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the worst things I've ever read in the comic book.
• 18:06
[SPEAKER_00]: This guy's got to be a punching bag then I guess he also has to drop a couple of bad puns too.
• 18:11
[SPEAKER_01]: If you find Hawkeye hot would he give you a bowner?
• 18:19
  [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, everybody.
• 18:20
[SPEAKER_02]: I do think Parker is not whatever it's like.
• 18:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the hand for Drake Shannon before we get to the real eyeball horror.
• 18:26
  [SPEAKER_01]: We've got motorcycle gangs.
• 18:28
[SPEAKER_01]: We've got plastic surgery, melted off his face.
• 18:31
[SPEAKER_01]: We have lots of head injuries.
• 18:33
[SPEAKER_01]: We have a really hilarious murder, if I'm honest.
• 18:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Wiley Coyote is dead at his own hands, basically.
• 18:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Do we have any concluding thoughts on Drake Shannon before we get to the star of our feature today, the new orb?
• 18:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's had a rough time of it if I'm going to be honest like he starts out as again a motorcycle is a stuntman just in the same way as Johnny blazing many ways and he just kept getting shit on a time shit on a time shit on until he came down to this road I have to agree with Roxanne hasn't he suffered enough when it comes to this grievous injuries I feel bad for him, but also maybe you know
• 19:10
[SPEAKER_00]: don't turn to life of crime.
• 19:12
[SPEAKER_00]: This kind of crime, but we're going to stay.
• 19:16
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to stay silly, but I do want to give just a moment for the Abelist conversation where we see characters who have been burned or burned victims who are then classified in tropes of like.
• 19:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, they have to be a villain or they're un-fuckable or unlovable, and now we're allowed to do violence upon them.
• 19:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of the same thing that you see with the character, Toad.
• 19:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, here's this misshapin thing that I'm allowed to be violent toward, but we'll just kind of let that be there in one state.
• 19:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we're going to jump many years forward to Ghost Rider Volume 6 26.
• 19:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Aaron has taken over its 2008, and Ghost Rider is now his origins get retconned in huge ways sometimes.
• 19:52
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's fighting the evil Angel Z-Kill.
• 19:54
[SPEAKER_01]: who's put together his own team of monstrous operatives, including blackout, the serial killer demon guy.
• 20:00
[SPEAKER_01]: And fun fact, back when I was leaving the handbook, I tried to get a gig riding at Marvel, and I used this demon blackout in one of the stories that I pitched back then.
• 20:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like him much, but he's a good, punchable, like vampire guy.
• 20:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, there's another demon here called the Death Ninja.
• 20:15
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a guy named Doghead who is an immigrant who got combined with his dog by a demon,
• 20:22
[SPEAKER_01]: turned into a dog man and now there's a brand new orb and this one has an actual eyeball for a head and they are led by Dan Catch who's the replacement ghost writer.
• 20:32
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going after Johnny Blaze.
• 20:34
  [SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry about it.
• 20:35
[SPEAKER_01]: It's complicated but they're working for an evil angel.
• 20:38
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.
• 20:39
[SPEAKER_01]: The all-new orb is just anxious to get back into action.
• 20:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Whale, this poor fool gets a load of my all-new repulsor, Ray.
• 20:47
  [SPEAKER_01]: They storm caretakers base.
• 20:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to explain caretaker to you.
• 20:51
[SPEAKER_01]: An orb trips in alarm and a piece of wood with sharp nails in it flips up and stabs him in the eyeball.
• 20:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the moment where you realize it's not a helmet.
• 21:02
[SPEAKER_01]: He has a globe on his neck that's just an eyeball.
• 21:06
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like larger than a human head, like substantially.
• 21:09
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like beach ball size in some images and like a little bit larger than a human head in some.
• 21:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just an eyeball.
• 21:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: There's no lid.
• 21:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big white globe with a huge, like I don't know, 15, 18 inch eyeball in the middle of it.
• 21:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And the first story we get with Jason Aaron here is that a board with nails and it's,
• 21:29
[SPEAKER_01]: stabs him in the eye and he just starts fucking screaming.
• 21:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: This is horrifying.
• 21:34
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
• 21:35
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
• 21:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so anything puncturing an eyeball is just gonna be horrific in ways that are really difficult to measure.
• 21:44
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
• 21:44
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
• 21:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Also, this is like, was this the debut of new orb?
• 21:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 21:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
• 21:49
  [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't even know that.
• 21:50
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
• 21:51
[SPEAKER_02]: How did I miss that?
• 21:51
  [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yikes.
• 21:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: What an intro.
• 21:54
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's I guess all I can really mustard.
• 21:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: Just enough to say.
• 21:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the biology of having a giant eyeball for a head.
• 22:03
[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, how the fuck do you talk?
• 22:05
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to later get a mention from a different Jason Aaron book that he has like some telepathic skills.
• 22:11
[SPEAKER_01]: But how do you eat?
• 22:13
[SPEAKER_01]: How do you so like what happened?
• 22:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Where we don't know this man's origin.
• 22:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's just a big eyeball head.
• 22:18
[SPEAKER_01]: He could be a mutant
• 22:19
[SPEAKER_01]: or a demon, but wow, to have eyeballs stabbed with a nail in your first appearance, this is widely coyote, but it got way worse.
• 22:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Here are my know-you-have thoughts.
• 22:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So as a matter of fact, an original sin they do say how he talks about how he talks, because they kept, like, somebody asked me, I believe it was, I'll get to who it was once we get there.
• 22:40
[SPEAKER_00]: But he says, I, it took me a long time to learn and you should just be squishing sounds for a while.
• 22:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess the funniest thing that she can do with the character like it's.
• 22:49
[SPEAKER_01]: We, in one of my earlier eyeball episodes, there's an eyeball character who gets punched and the sound effect is squelch.
• 22:56
  [SPEAKER_01]: We were like, oh,
• 23:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Aaron brings this character back in his series Ghost Riders, fight heavens on fire.
• 23:06
[SPEAKER_01]: We see the orb initially in the hospital with just like bandages taped over his eyeball and Zadqiel records him again and issues 5 and 6.
• 23:14
[SPEAKER_01]: We see the orb leave an attack and he says,
• 23:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's teach them the meaning of fear and pain and abject humiliation.
• 23:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's teach them that they're lower than dogs, that no one will ever love them, that because of their bizarre physical deformities, they'll be abandoned at an early age and raised in freak shows, laughed out and mocked, made to sleep in cages and eat cat food, that they'll be virgins until they're 37, and even then they'll have to pay for it and pay extra.
• 23:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's put the disgusting little in-bread freaks out of their misery, just like their mother should have done a long time ago.
• 23:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: Let's kill them all!
• 23:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, he is yelling this at enemies, but you have to believe that this is his origin story.
• 23:57
  [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
• 23:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Are we, are we reading that?
• 23:59
[SPEAKER_01]: That he was born, deformed, it was in a freak show, had to eat cat food growing up, and now he has to pay for sex.
• 24:08
  [SPEAKER_01]: And the extra.
• 24:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to know where he was eating the cat at, like, where's the mouth?
• 24:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I actually need to know now.
• 24:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there is a mouth.
• 24:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a device that perhaps allows him to eat through a separate orifice.
• 24:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like, Stevie Nextile, like...
• 24:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We have this conversation in the Baron Z motrial because Baron Z most dad had a mask, glued to his face, and more like, how does he eat?
• 24:35
[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, well, there's other ways to go about it.
• 24:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Is the orb fuckable, Herum?
• 24:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it okay that the prostitutes are charging extra?
• 24:42
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's not okay if they're charging.
• 24:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess, not what?
• 24:45
[SPEAKER_00]: No, actually you need to go okay if they're charging extra.
• 24:47
[SPEAKER_00]: If there's something that they don't want to fuck, they should get the money.
• 24:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think they should get more money.
• 24:52
[SPEAKER_00]: For if this is a person that they just really do not want to fuck.
• 24:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they should definitely be paid extra for that.
• 24:57
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the aura is kind of fuckable.
• 25:00
  [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely out there.
• 25:01
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like somebody might look that eyeball.
• 25:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna be honest.
• 25:04
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's somebody's can't great there.
• 25:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry that's talked about it.
• 25:08
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's because it's disgusting.
• 25:11
[SPEAKER_01]: An issue six, the orb is back in the hospital next to Deacon, who has been paralyzed, and orb will not stop talking, he just, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and he warns, oh, by the way, I wet the bed a lot, I should probably wear diapers, and that's where it closes for heavens and fire.
• 25:28
[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to keep going.
• 25:29
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to jump to an X-Men story, astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine one through six, which you may or may not have read.
• 25:36
[SPEAKER_01]: The orb has formed a group called his orblings, and he's having them wear Halloween masks that look like eyeballs.
• 25:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is very Batman, really, again.
• 25:45
[SPEAKER_01]: He now has a gun whose tip is shaped like an eyeball.
• 25:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so special made, custom gun.
• 25:50
  [SPEAKER_01]: They rob a bank.
• 25:51
  [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody down.
• 25:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody looks the orb in the eye, even though he's a giant eyeball.
• 25:56
[SPEAKER_01]: And the caption calls him quote,
• 26:03
[SPEAKER_01]: The orb steals some diamonds, and somehow tosses them to hang on to do.
• 26:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And somehow he survives a spider-man and Wolverine.
• 26:13
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, don't do.
• 26:14
  [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
• 26:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Somehow he tosses spider-man and Wolverine through time.
• 26:18
[SPEAKER_01]: There's some weird time diamonds out there.
• 26:20
[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going to get into that craziness.
• 26:22
[SPEAKER_01]: We next see orb after a series of spideon Wolverine jumping through time.
• 26:26
[SPEAKER_01]: He looks like all buff and like looks like Rambo and he has like a bandana pulled over the top of his eye.
• 26:32
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like sexy orb with an eyeball head.
• 26:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we see later again with his like giant eye all bloodshot and he's warning everyone about the minute men go look it up.
• 26:40
[SPEAKER_01]: So the time diamonds and mojo and in the end the orb gets arrested because time goes back to normal.
• 26:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Doing what orb all sexy, like sex stuff with an eyeball head and a hot bod with a bandana on the top of his eye.
• 26:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like how does he say like moist like we don't know but he that man is out in the sun all the time like Yeah, he's got to have a big eye drop or somewhere that we just don't know it's in his paraphernalia or something He's back an incredible Hulk volume for number 7.1
• 27:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Where uh, okay, the orb in the orblings rob a bank and they cut out all of the civilian eyes and then put them in a bag and orb is now walking around with eyes and a bag, saying that he gets, once he gets enough, he can get his revenge on Ghost Rider.
• 27:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the plan is, but we now have dismembered eyeballs in a bag, which makes him more, more than ever.
• 27:34
[SPEAKER_01]: He sees Hulk and Red, she Hulk fighting and he wants their eyes as well.
• 27:38
[SPEAKER_01]: eyes are the window to the soul.
• 27:39
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I take them and why I roll around naked on giant piles of them.
• 27:45
[SPEAKER_01]: They beat the orb up and then he watches them have sex.
• 27:48
  [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not joking.
• 27:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Haram your thoughts on this story.
• 27:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So is the orb a warrior?
• 27:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is what it's starting to feel like.
• 27:55
[SPEAKER_00]: He starts to feel like it too as I get into original sin and it's just like I don't this guy is just a creep on his own level Like there's something going on there, but also he's very endearing in certain ways in other ways Why are you rolling around a pile of eyeballs?
• 28:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm rolling around naked on a pile of eyeballs.
• 28:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably rolling around naked on a pile of eyeballs.
• 28:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's actually worse.
• 28:21
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so much, that's, it's got to be uncomfortable.
• 28:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom, everyone started today by I'm so excited to be back, but has had this mild look of nausea, the entire episode.
• 28:30
  [SPEAKER_02]: Tom, how you doing?
• 28:31
  [SPEAKER_01]: Mild?
• 28:35
  [SPEAKER_01]: No, we're okay.
• 28:37
[SPEAKER_01]: The Orders back in Xman volume 338, where he gets beat up in a bar fight by Domino and Daredevil of all people.
• 28:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, okay, December on my show, the big academic panel at the end of the month is going to be about Uatuhu the Watcher.
• 28:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I have an incredible group of people.
• 28:50
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where the eyeball theme came from.
• 28:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Aaron does the wild original sin series about the murder of the Watcher and his severed eyeballs getting used to reveal secrets to everyone on earth.
• 29:01
[SPEAKER_01]: and the orb is a shockingly huge part of that story where we find ways to make him creepier once again.
• 29:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Let me turn it over to Haram Scarem to tell you about original sin.
• 29:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Haram had you read this before.
• 29:11
[SPEAKER_00]: So I've read parts of it before because it was very interested in all the records that were coming into it because um as you know like as we get into the story uh we find out that silk was also a bit in by the same spider that spider I'm was bitten by.
• 29:25
[SPEAKER_00]: We find out that Ironman was in part a reason for a banner becoming the
• 29:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And we also find out that Thor has a sister Angela, and this is because of Marvel's acquiring of the spawn series at this time as well.
• 29:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So they wanted to really tie everything in finally, but it also is of course the story where we find out Nick Fury's even
• 29:48
[SPEAKER_00]: more sus than we've ever known before.
• 29:51
[SPEAKER_00]: This is definitely a large orb story like he is all throughout the plot.
• 29:56
[SPEAKER_00]: As we come down to it like the first that we get of him, we don't really know who he is at first, who this guy is because he's speaking from the shadows multiple times.
• 30:05
[SPEAKER_01]: God, doesn't he wear like a little drape over his head for a while?
• 30:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got a little drape over his head.
• 30:09
[SPEAKER_00]: So like we see him at the end of the issue of original sin number one after Spider-Man and the thing are fighting
• 30:15
[SPEAKER_00]: who are saying a lot of eyes during this time because they're gaining even more cohesion because as some people might know, the mindless ones are empty.
• 30:25
[SPEAKER_00]: They have no minds, but with everything that's happened with Uatu's murder and Uatu's eyes being gouged up his head, we find that the mindless ones are somehow connected and they're somehow gaining sentience through this.
• 30:36
  [SPEAKER_00]: And we've got something
• 30:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and this is they're very big part of it too, which I was actually kind of surprised that we were bringing back Dr. Midas, because we haven't seen him since out of what the 2000s made his characters were in that like tangential universe marvel boy originally, and now they've been kind of brought over with that character here.
• 30:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of guessing you're a big exterminatrix fan.
• 31:01
  [SPEAKER_01]: This is Ugliett Midas.
• 31:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I I love her look for one thing like this is it's very give it's giving down an hatred and score of course with her name exterminator.
• 31:10
  [SPEAKER_00]: It makes perfect sense.
• 31:12
[SPEAKER_00]: You see the Orban her in the background talking.
• 31:14
  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got the eyeball.
• 31:16
[SPEAKER_00]: One of lots of eyeballs in his hand talking about oh it's not our eyes.
• 31:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested in opening because again the mindless ones of all things who are working for mightus and exterminators and the orbit at this point.
• 31:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we get to the second issue where our heroes are even more on the trail because, of course, they're figuring out through the mindless ones all of whatever's going on with them trying to figure out who's been using them and why they were also on the moon and they're converging on this building where we see the orb again still shrouded as we see.
• 31:48
[SPEAKER_00]: exterminatorics who's also shrouded in the shadows and then we see might as the back on the table who's looking a lot like the thing at this point like if you see him he's basically a twin of the thing just with a different color scheme at this point and he's talking about they'll see he's very focused on the eye as it has the whole history of birth.
• 32:07
[SPEAKER_00]: of us, of all of our secrets that are or will be, and they're still inside this eye and he's trying to figure out how to get them out.
• 32:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Like this guy is very, he's laser focused on what's happening with this eye, but by this time, the vendors start converging on the building.
• 32:25
[SPEAKER_00]: They're outside fighting the exterminator who she gets stalked.
• 32:29
  [SPEAKER_00]: immediately.
• 32:30
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that this story was supposed to like kind of revive her character in a lot of ways.
• 32:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, I don't think it went anywhere after this story.
• 32:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think she really got much other attention.
• 32:40
[SPEAKER_00]: So he goes to the heroes that are gathered outside.
• 32:59
[SPEAKER_00]: They go boom and then that's when we get him to reveal himself and everything he rips off the hood showing his again big eyeball and also holding up the severed eyeball as it were and we don't really get back to that until the next issue which
• 33:15
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a moment where he does a confessional.
• 33:17
[SPEAKER_01]: This is my favorite thing.
• 33:18
[SPEAKER_01]: It's very, there is a castle on a cloud for me.
• 33:22
[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, in my dreams, I'm on the moon.
• 33:25
  [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a mansion there.
• 33:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I walk inside like I own it.
• 33:28
  [SPEAKER_01]: Like it knows me.
• 33:30
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to stay, but I wake up.
• 33:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: I always wake up.
• 33:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's always there at the foot of my bed.
• 33:36
  [SPEAKER_01]: He never speaks.
• 33:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: He just watches me.
• 33:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was part of the dream at first, but now, I think it's his house, and I think he doesn't like that I can see it, that's what I do.
• 33:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I see things other people can't, and sometimes I steal eyeballs and roll around naked in them, but mostly I see things.
• 33:56
[SPEAKER_01]: For example, I can see that you've considered killing me at least seven different times since I came in here, might as well as eight, take off the mask.
• 34:06
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a mask.
• 34:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean?
• 34:07
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a mask.
• 34:08
[SPEAKER_01]: How are you talking if it's not a mask?
• 34:10
  [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead.
• 34:12
[SPEAKER_00]: This is where he talks about.
• 34:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It's with me a long time learn.
• 34:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I used to just make squishy noises.
• 34:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, you know, let's let's cut all that what the hell is going on.
• 34:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: Why are you here?
• 34:22
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's talking about all the wondrous treasures that this house on the moon holds, that the watchers base holds, full of things we can't begin to imagine secrets.
• 34:33
[SPEAKER_00]: The whole place is filled with secrets, more secrets than there are stars.
• 34:38
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Midas isn't really convinced at this point.
• 34:40
[SPEAKER_00]: He's got so many secrets.
• 34:41
  [SPEAKER_00]: What does he need?
• 34:42
[SPEAKER_00]: That's in the watchers base.
• 34:44
[SPEAKER_00]: But Midas is seeing the watcher before.
• 34:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And he knows that he can tell him more things.
• 34:49
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to walk through the doors of the walk watcher space.
• 34:52
[SPEAKER_00]: He must have figured out what is inside of there.
• 34:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So this is then coming together to work together.
• 34:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And then we cut back to the present again.
• 34:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, this is where we're learning everything about what the watchers I can reveal, because
• 35:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he said, this eye is a bomb and it kind of releases an area of effect attack, except it's not really current harming the heroes in a way that you would think it's just revealing secrets that nobody either wanted to know or secrets that they never thought that they would ever know.
• 35:21
  [SPEAKER_00]: So again,
• 35:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Hulk, Stark, Big problem, Peter, finding out about Cindy, Thor, finding out about Angela.
• 35:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we figure out in this issue what Luke finds out about, but then we also have a lot of civilians nearby who are also learning secrets that they don't want to know.
• 35:36
[SPEAKER_00]: So, specifically, this woman learns that her husband is cheating on her with the babysitter, and I don't know why I believe her focused in on that, but it was just something interesting.
• 35:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Nick Fury is telling me that there's a moment in three where Orb calls Wolverine and Hulk, a tortured school teacher and a deranged physicist and I really loved that moment for him.
• 35:57
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so real because like I think they take him up to the Avengers tower at this point and Hulk and Wolverine are investigating him because at first again, they still think this guy is the murderer, but the Orb is like, I actually don't want anything different than what you guys want.
• 36:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I also want to figure out.
• 36:15
[SPEAKER_00]: who murdered this guy on the moon, so then I can figure out even more secrets and find that other eye, because he only has the one eye.
• 36:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody else still has another one out there, but yet a tortured school teacher and drainage physicist, this is some of the sort of bizarre variation on a good cop and bad cop routine for the exact, sorry for the exact quote there.
• 36:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And Hulk does not want this eyeball man to stare at him.
• 36:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Hulk is just as creeped out by
• 36:45
[SPEAKER_00]: But again, they're still trying to figure out who killed the watcher because I think that he did it and again, he's stating that he has not and it's half true if we're going to be honest because as we figure out in a further long issue, I believe it was issued number seven.
• 37:00
  [SPEAKER_00]: from my notes here.
• 37:01
[SPEAKER_00]: He actually did assist in not killing the watcher, but he definitely went up there to steal from the watcher.
• 37:10
[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a little flashback of everything that's happening before we actually get into the events of the rest of original scene.
• 37:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Orbe X-Stermine Aectrics, Dr. Midas, and a bunch of the mindless ones, invade Latte's base, and this allows for the Orbe to just
• 37:25
  [SPEAKER_00]: walking.
• 37:27
[SPEAKER_00]: The Watcher discovers the invasion.
• 37:28
[SPEAKER_00]: He confronts the villains and they try to murder him and brand new.
• 37:32
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's like Cyclops Energy.
• 37:33
[SPEAKER_01]: He also mentions earlier in the series that he can talk to eyeballs, which I don't even know.
• 37:37
[SPEAKER_00]: He can talk to eyeballs.
• 37:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's why he's able to get a little bit more information off of the eye beforehand than anybody else's of able to understand what the eyeball actually does.
• 37:49
[SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely got to be something there.
• 37:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Like is it a mutation, is it a curse?
• 37:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Did somebody curse him in the womb?
• 37:56
[SPEAKER_00]: What's happening here is what I'm still trying to figure out?
• 37:59
[SPEAKER_01]: He also comments a lot in the series about how he's going through changes.
• 38:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of that's a very apparent moment as the horror keeps up.
• 38:05
[SPEAKER_01]: But like, there's something changing him.
• 38:07
[SPEAKER_01]: That seems connected to the watch or somehow.
• 38:09
[SPEAKER_01]: These like dreams, these like pressure and dreams.
• 38:11
[SPEAKER_01]: He's having, it's like an evolution of the character that he knows is like a destiny path for him, which is interesting.
• 38:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this is due to, like he said, I think it's the energy that the watchers eyes is giving off, but I also think it's a little bit more because as we come to find out by the end of the issue, Nick Fury had a lot more involvement than what we even knew in the sequential events of the story.
• 38:42
[SPEAKER_00]: went back in, domino effected everything that happened within the story.
• 38:46
[SPEAKER_01]: And a teeny bit of context here, the MCU has given us black Nick Fury, and now Mark, the ultimate universe uses black Nick Fury, and now Marvel has brought him in.
• 38:56
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the son of the original Nick Fury, but they're both running around.
• 39:00
[SPEAKER_01]: So Jason Aaron gives us the big revelation that Nick Fury is in the man on the wall, and he has all these secrets, so now he's the unseen.
• 39:06
[SPEAKER_01]: He gets tortured at the end and like chained to the moon, basically.
• 39:09
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a weird story for this character, but it was a big fun reveal at the time as a reader.
• 39:13
[SPEAKER_00]: It definitely was, and I know that it's all because of MCU's synergy for the most part, but I liked what happened with it.
• 39:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I do like all the story lines that kind of branched off from it, but the orb ends up escaping his restraints during all these all, because again, they're-
• 39:27
[SPEAKER_00]: dragging him around trying to figure out what's going on and he of course is just focus on getting this eye.
• 39:33
[SPEAKER_00]: The orb ends up blasting the fury with the energy from his eye.
• 39:37
[SPEAKER_00]: The mindless ones start to beat Nick Fury to death.
• 39:40
[SPEAKER_00]: The Avengers do help them out but only so they can potentially take Nick Fury to jail to face for his crimes because something I didn't get into since like we're trying to focus on the orb here for the most part.
• 39:51
[SPEAKER_00]: As the man on the wall, Nick Fury has done a lot to try to keep threats that were coming towards earth from being threats.
• 39:58
[SPEAKER_00]: So things that we didn't even see, contextually in any stories from the past.
• 40:04
[SPEAKER_00]: All of them have been stopped at Nick Fury at one point, including a planet that is in the range of ego, the living planet that he killed.
• 40:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's full caverns in the mulloid caverns that are just filled with bodies upon bodies upon bodies of different monsters different entities all that Nick theory has ended the orb gets the eye back he's able to pick up the eye and suddenly both of the watchers eyes attack the orb starting to choke him and we see a group of watchers suddenly appear in round him and he's begging them for help please.
• 40:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: help me please.
• 40:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And these, I have like, these, I have like tendrils behind them.
• 40:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're like wrapping around him.
• 40:45
[SPEAKER_00]: They're like alien creatures almost and like they're observing him and one of the eyeballs and beds itself into the orbs chest.
• 40:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So then we all like we get to.
• 40:57
[SPEAKER_00]: The end where the orb does return to earth and he ends up knocking on a woman's door.
• 41:01
[SPEAKER_00]: She was about to kill her partner for her um and the orb explains that he doesn't have any interests in stopping her and we end up seeing the full body shot of him with the tendrils of the eye.
• 41:13
[SPEAKER_00]: and that it into him, the eye is now in his chest and he says, I just want to watch.
• 41:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think this dude is just a poyer.
• 41:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's whatever power that his birth gave him with this eye.
• 41:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it also just made him into, you know, I like watching people.
• 41:29
[SPEAKER_01]: So double eyeball, eyeball in the head eyeball on the chest is this orfuccable?
• 41:34
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
• 41:35
[SPEAKER_00]: There's too much going on here.
• 41:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the one I was fine once we brought in the second eye that's kind of it.
• 41:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have you.
• 41:42
[SPEAKER_01]: You may not finish her, but you will definitely feel seen.
• 41:44
[SPEAKER_00]: You will definitely feel seen, my God.
• 41:48
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot to be like, I feel like a lot of people, whether they will admit to it or not.
• 41:52
[SPEAKER_00]: They have, you know, a lot of people, you know,
• 41:54
[SPEAKER_00]: what's the word performance anxiety?
• 41:57
[SPEAKER_00]: And one giant eye is one thing, but then I also want the chest while you're trying to bounce on it, that's kind of crazy to have staring at you, right?
• 42:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Plus I think he would have to fuck on like a bed full of eyeballs, right?
• 42:10
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a lot going on with this guy at this point.
• 42:13
[SPEAKER_00]: You have to be okay with the fact that like rose petals he has scattered eyes on the bed sheets for you that night yeah he's lit lit a bunch of candles he's probably set some mute mood music there might be a couple of incense but then you look at the bed and it's like this is a lot of eyes are you going to go forth with it.
• 42:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And like the song he likes to pluck too is like I yeah yeah yeah I am not just stepping stone like there's a Thomas so upset I'm so grossed out.
• 42:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god Do you think that every step you take every movie make Of the watches It's like a romance song for him.
• 42:50
[SPEAKER_00]: If you think it's in the mood because I can believe it I'm definitely not fuckable.
• 42:55
  [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so sorry
• 43:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tap the answer to you.
• 43:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Or did you get themized?
• 43:07
[SPEAKER_01]: If I understood it correctly and tell me if you got the same read, Nick Fury killed Uatu.
• 43:11
[SPEAKER_01]: But the orb is one, like gouged out one of Uatu's eyes.
• 43:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so like when he shot him during the time friend that they were up on the moon with the mindless ones and mightest and everything, he definitely gouged out the first eye because when Nick Fury found him, what was missing an eye and was like, so are you like here to help me or what's going on here?
• 43:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Because you already are a problem for me, Mr. Nick Fury, but I haven't said anything for years.
• 43:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom, are you regretting your life decisions having heard this conversation so far?
• 43:40
  [SPEAKER_01]: Only just a little.
• 43:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom's gonna guide us through the Orbs most recent history in comics, which is kind of a wild journey on its own.
• 43:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's putting it mildly.
• 43:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and a lot of stuff I hadn't read before, so there's like maybe some context around these issues that I read that like I don't know anything about.
• 43:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: This is fun ride.
• 44:00
[SPEAKER_02]: We open up with a deadpool in the mix for money in which I don't know deadpool.
• 44:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I read he's being Spanish some robot.
• 44:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of odd.
• 44:08
[SPEAKER_02]: But then like we sort of flash
• 44:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Motorcycle, he's shooting these murks who, like, I only recognize some of them, it's like stingray, solo, which is like a deep poll.
• 44:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I think Slap Six might be in there, Mad Cap, I don't know, but they're on some big truck.
• 44:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Spanish speaking Deadpool's actually a character named Musica, or Musica, he's a, he's like, yeah, it's, it's a wild title.
• 44:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, but thank you for pointing that out because I was like, because as soon after like reading these like first two pages of this issue, I was like, I am all ready, lost.
• 44:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, um, and so the orb, he's on his motorcycle, which he calls a crotch rocket, uh, full killer, taunts him for a little bit, and right as orb is like sort of starting to monologue about all this watcher stuff, full killer throws a gun at his pace, and um, the orb show it's like, my eye, my face, my eye, and he gets knocked off said crotch rocket, which sends it, uh, creating off a cliff, which is sort of where that arc ends room.
• 45:05
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure exactly
• 45:11
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's fairly irrelevant.
• 45:12
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, with those two.
• 45:13
  [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
• 45:14
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I got you.
• 45:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, moving to Dr.
• 45:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Strange, who's this Jason Aaron run.
• 45:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I was I'm like excited to like fully delve into a little later on, but it's parts three and five of blood in the ether that
• 45:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: But it's issues like 14 through 16.
• 45:28
  [SPEAKER_02]: So in 14, it's odd issue.
• 45:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Dr. Stranger's in some sort of like new hell, which is like a diner.
• 45:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess they can set it up and she's forcing Steven to eat hell bacon, which is made from pigs who've been possessed by demons for at least 400 years
• 45:43
[SPEAKER_02]: After he realizes this, like this is a whole gastrointestinal journey that like Steven takes in his astrophorum, um, he forces his physical body to Reject and vomit this like demon-bacon up at which at like the last page of this issue is the orb who's posing as a cabby Uh, picking Steven up to take him somewhere in issue 15.
• 46:00
[SPEAKER_02]: It sort of opens with like a bunch of guys who are burying someone and orb pulls up in this car with Steven and he says oh He says from off panel.
• 46:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, sorry don't mind us and then like next panel.
• 46:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's on it
• 46:11
[SPEAKER_02]: We just wanted a better view like beginning a whole complicated, awful, just vision by ball puns and all that.
• 46:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And then Steven narrates, like he's sort of like thinking about what's going on, he's like an eyeball.
• 46:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in a cab with a giant talking eyeball.
• 46:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And then he like reads orb to filth.
• 46:27
[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, what in the world are we even doing here?
• 46:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Or correct me if I'm wrong, but you were always just a thief and a loser.
• 46:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Feel free to take offense.
• 46:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was delighted to read that.
• 46:36
[SPEAKER_02]: And orb says that it's just just a job to watch stuff now with a whole
• 46:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So these guys who are bearing, he drives over like one of these guys who are burying someone.
• 46:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess Orb has been watching strange deal with all this like all these challenges regarding like the decay of magic that's going on in this art.
• 46:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And he parks on the side of a building like literally on the side of a building.
• 46:55
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, sort of goes through window and some sleeping guy and gives him some like hypnotic suggestion to like kill his neighbors.
• 47:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Orb sort of gets into this sort of like bit where he's like he's explaining that he's like helping those who are floundering and needing help.
• 47:07
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why he's with Steven at this moment.
• 47:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god, and then, and then, oh god, Dr.
• 47:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Strange punches him and likens it to punching a beach ball filled with tapioca.
• 47:17
[SPEAKER_02]: If tapioca was also psychotic and insanely powerful.
• 47:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Herum is disturbed everyone.
• 47:23
[SPEAKER_01]: The beach ball full of tapioca got them.
• 47:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just, I'm now imagining the squish of it because that just sounds like,
• 47:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, I'm thoroughly, thoroughly gross, but you know if there's any positive spin out of this orb is like relishing in his new job as like the watcher.
• 47:48
[SPEAKER_02]: He's strapped straight into the head of his cab tells him he's going to help strange faces sins and he says whether your sins like it or not and I guess one of these sins is that like I don't know if y'all read this but like Mr. Misery this like weird conglomerate like mesh
• 48:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like, you have to, so Jason Aaron really plays up on the idea that in order to cast magic, there's a cost.
• 48:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And so Dr. Stranger's casting magic a lot, so like all of his sins, all of the costs like come alive as like an evil creature who's now after him, while there's also a group that are trying to like wipe out magic.
• 48:20
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's, it's quite compelling.
• 48:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good series.
• 48:23
  [SPEAKER_01]: It is.
• 48:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I remember like reading it when a first came out as it started.
• 48:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I was into it before the reason I dropped off.
• 48:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it was all the order stuff.
• 48:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And then they go down to a little bit more about Mr. Miserie in the Strange Academy series as well.
• 48:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Zelma sentence there, Wong's there.
• 48:36
[SPEAKER_02]: They're in some like weird dream plane.
• 48:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're trying to help with this battle, like by firing on Mr. Miserie.
• 48:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Mordeaux shows up and he's like, he wants to get in on this for whatever reason or zaps him and then Dormamu shows up.
• 48:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's just like a whole bunch of like...
• 48:49
[SPEAKER_02]: God, the worst they ever as all chaos because the girls are fighting in issue number 16 Remember those and fighting with strange mortos wanting in on Stephen's demise Mr. Misery and like he briefly talks with Orb and Orb is like mitten like he's looking at all these eyes that are on Misery's body he goes so many eyes I think I love you which yikes Kappy and gross two things can be true
• 49:15
[SPEAKER_02]: And then German monologues have he's creating a new dark dimension in New York.
• 49:19
[SPEAKER_02]: One asks misery to help, but like the misery is not down or taunts Zelma.
• 49:24
[SPEAKER_02]: She fires right back, coloring him, Captain Cornia.
• 49:27
[SPEAKER_02]: But he sort of says like he gets a little serious from him and he goes, and he'll always be watching Mr. Stanton from the Shadow.
• 49:33
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm always watching the naughty ones.
• 49:35
[SPEAKER_02]: But if I were you,
• 49:36
[SPEAKER_02]: I might think about, I mean, I mean, I think twice about helping.
• 49:38
[SPEAKER_02]: You know the doctor after all, he prefers to pay his own tab.
• 49:41
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if there's some clues with, you know, strange, siphoning at some magic, having to help him to cast a spell with mortars.
• 49:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Help, banishes Durramo full of, um, only to, uh, which I didn't read after this, but like the next character he faces, the next release fight that he's facing is Schumagora, also with a huge eyeball.
• 49:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
• 49:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: So this is fun.
• 49:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, when I was making a list of eyeball characters, we could cover for the Pay Trout.
• 50:03
[SPEAKER_01]: It was way longer than you'd think.
• 50:07
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of them at Marvel.
• 50:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like, did you like include Glob Herman in this at all, or?
• 50:11
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I love Glob Herman in Marvel.
• 50:13
  [SPEAKER_01]: I love Glob Herman.
• 50:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I considered Glob he is way too many appearances, but one of the characters who gets focused this month is SAC, who's like the little plasma guy from G-Nation.
• 50:23
[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of a variant of Glob, but I love him.
• 50:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know, it's worth this whole thing, or it was very silly and deranged.
• 50:32
[SPEAKER_02]: But next up on my reading list was Dr. Doom number six.
• 50:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Started really knowing anything about this is a Christopher Cantwell series.
• 50:37
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.
• 50:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's interesting.
• 50:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, this one issue I was like, what an earth is going on because it opens with.
• 50:42
[SPEAKER_02]: doom and can on some like buddy road trip talking about and dealing with some like black hole.
• 50:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
• 50:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't get to get straight on a bear bunch through this series.
• 50:52
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's great.
• 50:53
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's a wild ride.
• 50:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Like they bit your inventory about this and that.
• 50:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Paladin shows up with orb to attack doom and like orb's kind of weird here.
• 51:01
[SPEAKER_02]: He like, I don't know, his characterization is very, very different.
• 51:04
[SPEAKER_02]: He says like in all caps, I see all doom.
• 51:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: You cannot hide doom.
• 51:08
  [SPEAKER_02]: I see all.
• 51:09
[SPEAKER_02]: The eye of the washer shows me you hiding in Texas, doom.
• 51:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I see all very odd.
• 51:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Kang mentions that the orb is gone full insane.
• 51:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I blast him, blast him in pallidin with an ultra diode weapon.
• 51:19
[SPEAKER_02]: But the canke thing and weakens and saps sentient beings of their will to live and orb then again in all caps is like I see all and all is not good I should stop trying and he sort of like laying down the ground defeated in more reason one there's more that happens with doing canke but that's kind of it for orb it's odd But you know like if I were possessed by some sort of all seeing cosmic entity my characterization probably be all over the place too Right?
• 51:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe move into Ghost Rider, Ed Brisson's run.
• 51:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I read, uh, issues five and seven.
• 51:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: I love Ghost Rider.
• 51:47
[SPEAKER_02]: One of the very first comics I ever got was like the rise of the Midnight Suns, like in the 90s.
• 51:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So that Lilith was in here made me, like, live because I always adored her.
• 51:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Thought she was criminally underused.
• 51:58
[SPEAKER_02]: But this is also part of the hearts of Darkness.
• 52:00
  [SPEAKER_02]: Two story.
• 52:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I read the original one so so long ago, um, but hadn't read this and I'm excited to get to it, like, in full little later on.
• 52:07
  [SPEAKER_02]: But,
• 52:08
[SPEAKER_02]: In number five, it's Donnie Blaze.
• 52:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: We're back.
• 52:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: We won.
• 52:10
  [SPEAKER_02]: He's Ghost Rider.
• 52:11
[SPEAKER_02]: He's the ruler of hell.
• 52:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: Danny Catch.
• 52:13
[SPEAKER_02]: He's now the spirit of corruption.
• 52:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Also don't worry about it all.
• 52:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Earlier when we're asking you like, is Ghost Rider fuckable?
• 52:21
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'd fuck Danny Catch.
• 52:22
  [SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
• 52:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Danny Catch is a catch.
• 52:24
[SPEAKER_02]: As long as there heads not on fire, I'll fuck out there.
• 52:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
• 52:28
  [SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
• 52:29
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
• 52:29
[SPEAKER_02]: So some, yeah, some ghost writers out there causing a ton of trouble.
• 52:33
  [SPEAKER_02]: It killed a cop.
• 52:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Wolverine upon sure they're involved in investigating.
• 52:36
[SPEAKER_02]: But with Orb, he's held captive by Lilith.
• 52:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Some demon named Vildro is using Orb to get at his all-seeing villain.
• 52:44
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like this guy has like these like really sharp, like long,
• 52:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So to speak, and Orb is just saying it really, really hurts and it's just a nightmarish like gross image.
• 52:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I said it to you in a text one's Chad like geez.
• 53:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And that's kind of all we see him in there.
• 53:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Issue number seven, Lilith is watching Blaze and Dr. Stranger Battle from afar and like through or by think.
• 53:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And like he's still being used by her.
• 53:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's saying, please, just let me go.
• 53:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I, my eye hurts so much.
• 53:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Please, Lilith does not care because of my cajey or what she ate later on or still being used so that she's doing a lot of scrying through him.
• 53:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: crazy.
• 53:26
[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't do a whole ton, but it is sort of a clever use of him for the lift and is also being villain.
• 53:33
[SPEAKER_02]: All seeing like vision, she is who she is, using him for what he does, is great to see her again.
• 53:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Jason is just bringing this guy back, because then he writes Avengers for 100 years and uses him even more.
• 53:43
  [SPEAKER_02]: I guess, right?
• 53:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and out of that whole like enormously long arc, I got a few issues with those.
• 53:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: I did 40 and 41 and then issue 50.
• 53:50
[SPEAKER_02]: doom and a bunch of other people are possessed by some of the phoenix force.
• 53:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm never hearing about this as this like arc like first came out, but like I don't know much about it, uh, because like cap gets it too.
• 54:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It was all very strange, but yeah, there's a good trial for the phoenix.
• 54:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the phoenix is making people battle and the winner.
• 54:09
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like March Madness Bragg and the winner who who turns out to be echo or my alopez gets the phoenix in the end and good for her.
• 54:15
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 54:15
[SPEAKER_02]: It's an odd story for the phoenix course.
• 54:17
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 54:17
  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was
• 54:19
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it was.
• 54:20
  [SPEAKER_01]: It was, right?
• 54:21
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 54:21
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 54:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You'll look at the Marvel Appendix.
• 54:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I have a, I've written the echo profile in Maintain, and I love that character.
• 54:27
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, very nice.
• 54:28
  [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, cool.
• 54:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 54:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Inishie 40, Cap and Doom, they fight fight.
• 54:32
[SPEAKER_02]: There's some narration, read, cap of, I don't know.
• 54:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess what you were talking about.
• 54:37
[SPEAKER_02]: The Phoenix and Nessing on Earth and looking for a new host.
• 54:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Orb shows up at the end of this issue.
• 54:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Basically, just in a group shot of potential host, that the Phoenix is I-ing.
• 54:45
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 54:45
  [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
• 54:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Some of these financial hosts are like Black Panther, Namor, Hyperion, Man-Thing, Jane Foster, Shang-Gi, Moon Girl, Echo, of course, of most of all, perhaps, you know, someone is grossly overlooked, is powered the duck.
• 54:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Taking us to issue number 41, the Phoenix wants them to battle it all out, I guess.
• 55:01
[SPEAKER_02]: And their Phoenix dies versions of each other.
• 55:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Orbs specifically fights Jane Foster, who's a valkyrie here in Subtrania, and this is fun to see.
• 55:09
[SPEAKER_02]: He has the Phoenix logo in the middle of his pupil and says, I have the watcher combined with the power of the Phoenix.
• 55:16
[SPEAKER_02]: I see everyone who's dying right now across the whole Stinking Galaxy.
• 55:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you can't tell, but I'm smiling.
• 55:22
  [SPEAKER_02]: And now I can't tell Orbs.
• 55:23
[SPEAKER_01]: He got a Phoenix eye, you guys.
• 55:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 55:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: Great.
• 55:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think about these two huge cosmic forces like within him.
• 55:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, of course he's going nuts.
• 55:43
[SPEAKER_02]: And Jane Foster, forever a boss, she says to him, as someone who has died herself and whose duty it is every day to be there with others for their final suffering.
• 55:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I assure you, these most vulnerable and intimate of moments are not yours for the people showing orb, but this one sure as hell is, and she like wallips him with its like enormous grace to see, but also very just and righteous, so I'm here for it.
• 56:06
[SPEAKER_01]: We can't get a black eye because there's no eyelid.
• 56:08
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hello.
• 56:09
  [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
• 56:09
  [SPEAKER_00]: Nice to see.
• 56:10
[SPEAKER_01]: She's just gonna squish some of the boba.
• 56:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just say real quick, the watchers should have never allowed him to keep that eye in his chest.
• 56:20
[SPEAKER_00]: This again, this guy is an unrepentant warrior and he likes to watch everything.
• 56:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think this is the guy.
• 56:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Then again, so does the watcher, though.
• 56:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, but I think he's a little bit more benevolent with it.
• 56:33
[SPEAKER_00]: This guy's freaky with it.
• 56:35
[SPEAKER_02]: At least yeah, at least the watcher pledges like not intervene, which he does all the time.
• 56:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Stay tuned for the watcher trial coming out on my show.
• 56:45
[SPEAKER_02]: But hey, I'm thank you for bringing up the whole eyeball in the center of his chest.
• 56:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Things that we're going to bring up are like, yeah, it's a super gross visual.
• 56:51
[SPEAKER_02]: There's like two huge eyes on him, part of him, all that, well, yes.
• 56:56
[SPEAKER_02]: So I moved into Avengers number 50.
• 56:58
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really big, really, really, really big issue because like there's some legacy numbering.
• 57:02
  [SPEAKER_02]: I guess it's 750.
• 57:03
[SPEAKER_02]: If she's broken up into many small parts, the ones
• 57:06
[SPEAKER_02]: with the orb in them, there's the first one is prologue one, wake up the orb sees you.
• 57:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And as a married couple is asleep in their bed, orb, ever the creep is, of course, ever just watching them.
• 57:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, aside from some sleepy verbalizations, some shouting, he's largely like monologing uninterrupted, and he goes, hello.
• 57:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you just laying around?
• 57:27
  [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, right, sleeping.
• 57:28
[SPEAKER_02]: I forget people do that.
• 57:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Never really been able to see it much myself, but I'd rather be awake anyway.
• 57:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Too many things to see, seeing is the only thing I've ever been much good at, and I'm really good at it.
• 57:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Seeing the things other people don't notice, or don't want you to see.
• 57:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, every morning when my mother unlocks her closet, and I peek inside and I realize that a piece inside and realize it was so alive.
• 57:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I could even make up the disappointment creeping into her face, even when she tried to hide it.
• 57:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And I've been seeing where things are headed with you too, this married couple.
• 57:54
[SPEAKER_02]: You know odds are tomorrow you're going to have another fight when we're all the words you've been screaming on the inside finally get thrown around on the outside and that'll lead to some other things getting thrown and then well see the thing is Ted and Mary Beth I don't have time to sit around and watch how all this plays out there's some events that are about to happen that well I simply can't miss but after the time we've all put into the marriage I just think it would be a shame if it's final act went unseen and unappreciated so
• 58:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to need you to go ahead and kill each other tonight while I watch.
• 58:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Then I got someone to be cool and then holy crap for what jeez, what are you doing?
• 58:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like we see like this kind of character in television shows once in a while when there's like a really bad killer who would like come into someone's home tie them up and then like talk to them like have a heart to heart about their personal problems before when killing number something like that.
• 58:41
[SPEAKER_01]: You do what I mean like this this is that kind of monologue it's
• 58:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then we make a little, I don't know if y'all can give you some context with this, but like later on in this issue, there's another story.
• 58:54
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a group of like multi-versal masters of evil.
• 58:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Mthisto has been running this giant like things since the beginning of time to conquer everything.
• 59:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a bunch of Mthisto's from other realities that are all joining together.
• 59:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So they put together some supervillains from a bunch of realities who are fighting Avengers from a bunch of realities.
• 59:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And it culminates in a giant issue here and then later in the Avengers assemble series, it's a lot.
• 59:18
[SPEAKER_00]: because it wasn't one of them like Howard Stark variant that came to be as well.
• 59:21
[SPEAKER_01]: He created an entire new version of the squadron supreme.
• 59:25
[SPEAKER_01]: It goes on and on.
• 59:27
[SPEAKER_01]: But fistos like crazy in this.
• 59:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I love super hero shenanigans.
• 59:30
[SPEAKER_01]: This series was a lot for me, especially as the handbook guy who had to like take the notes.
• 59:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, it was, it was a lot.
• 59:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I can only imagine I've, and I've heard that about this.
• 59:54
[SPEAKER_02]: just wants to watch whatever multiversal mayhem that are about to engage in.
• 59:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And then Doom Supreme says he's like, oh, you're not the watcher.
• 1:00:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Orbs says, yeah, see on this earth, the big guy died a while back and passed his secrets onto me.
• 1:00:07
[SPEAKER_02]: And by that I mean, I stole one of his eyes.
• 1:00:10
[SPEAKER_02]: And I did things with it, which beat.
• 1:00:12
[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, and now I carry his song duties.
• 1:00:14
  [SPEAKER_02]: I observe, I layer, I ogle.
• 1:00:16
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, for the cosmic good, I witness all the truly awful things you can't unsee.
• 1:00:20
[SPEAKER_02]: All the horrible, mind-chattering secrets buried across the heavens and shallow graves, the silence suffering and any kind of kind of suffering too.
• 1:00:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And the people who so perversely delight in it, the real sickos, I mean.
• 1:00:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I do my very best to make them all feel seen when the orb pops up.
• 1:00:34
[SPEAKER_02]: It gives you chills, right?
• 1:00:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Because if I'm here, you can bet something epic is about to happen.
• 1:00:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: Something world-shaking.
• 1:00:39
  [SPEAKER_01]: universe shaking.
• 1:00:40
[SPEAKER_02]: And he addresses each one of them my name, uh, delighting in it, and he's like, I'm sorry if we're getting choked up, but this is such a big moment.
• 1:00:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I simply can't wait to see who you're going to kill next.
• 1:00:50
[SPEAKER_02]: And immediately, Doom Supreme Blast him, sending him to the ground, Doom plugs the watchers eye out of his chest and orb thinks that Doom wants the eye for himself, but it doesn't seem quite be his motivation.
• 1:01:00
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little unclear, but like orb is dying.
• 1:01:03
  [SPEAKER_02]: And like,
• 1:01:04
[SPEAKER_02]: After the group leaves, the panel slowly zoom into his eyes slash face and his eyes like grossly getting like a redder and blacker.
• 1:01:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's saying, hello, is anyone there?
• 1:01:16
  [SPEAKER_02]: I can't see.
• 1:01:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Please don't leave me here without anyone watching.
• 1:01:20
  [SPEAKER_02]: Mother, is that you?
• 1:01:21
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm finally doing a mother.
• 1:01:22
  [SPEAKER_02]: What you always wanted?
• 1:01:23
  [SPEAKER_02]: I'm finally dying.
• 1:01:24
[SPEAKER_02]: So why do you still look so disappointed?
• 1:01:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And then sort of the title of this chapter is revealed right then at this end of it.
• 1:01:33
[SPEAKER_02]: the orb is dead, many more will follow.
• 1:01:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And I guess so ends the orb, yeah.
• 1:01:38
[SPEAKER_02]: As far as we know, that's all we've ever seen, and that's all we will ever see, but that was only a couple of years ago.
• 1:01:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Avengers assemble Omega by just an errand.
• 1:01:46
  [SPEAKER_02]: Another super size issue.
• 1:01:48
[SPEAKER_02]: This came out, I guess, I looked at the chronology of the release of the orb.
• 1:01:51
[SPEAKER_02]: This used, it's been about a year and a half since that death that I was reading.
• 1:01:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: in real time.
• 1:01:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And these multi-versal masters, people are still going on and on, whatever.
• 1:01:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: They're fighting, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're,
• 1:02:14
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of it's good, but it does help.
• 1:02:16
  [SPEAKER_02]: Stretches for Emma.
• 1:02:18
[SPEAKER_02]: And at the end of this issue, there's an epilogue.
• 1:02:20
[SPEAKER_02]: After a massive battle between these multi-versal teams, we find ourselves in hell, Mephisto is clearly defeated.
• 1:02:24
[SPEAKER_02]: He's sitting on his throne man spreading as he so very often does.
• 1:02:28
[SPEAKER_02]: The orb off panel is talking to him saying, in the now, the Valkyrie searches the heavens and the far future, the old Logan garden.
• 1:02:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And here in hell, all is once more as it was meant to be.
• 1:02:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Wouldn't you say, Lord Mephisto, I can't do as good.
• 1:02:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And you're trying to do it just great, but like you do this whole like you're you do this Missy deficit of waste that was inspired by like some more in video you watched about like upon entering the temple or something Yes, yes, yes, but I'll be taking go ahead.
• 1:02:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have the issue open
• 1:02:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, and that's never built.
• 1:02:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but yeah, anyway, so my face was like, no, this is even worse than before.
• 1:03:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Don't you ever stop talking or be continues?
• 1:03:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I used to have when I was alive, just to, you know, stop and breathe.
• 1:03:08
[SPEAKER_02]: And we see the the orbiting right next to him.
• 1:03:10
[SPEAKER_02]: He's, but now that I'm dead, well, I can just keep talking and talking forever.
• 1:03:15
[SPEAKER_02]: guess things worked out pretty great for the old orb.
• 1:03:17
[SPEAKER_02]: So what was I say?
• 1:03:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, in the God quarry, Avenger Prime no longer stands watch alone.
• 1:03:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I just sort of like it's clear that he's like about to like talk with Mrs. Eruf for the rest of eternity.
• 1:03:27
[SPEAKER_01]: How am I feeling about this character?
• 1:03:29
[SPEAKER_01]: He got really amped up to some like really high levels.
• 1:03:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So is he a horror character?
• 1:03:35
  [SPEAKER_01]: Is he a comedy?
• 1:03:36
  [SPEAKER_01]: Is he a tragedy?
• 1:03:37
  [SPEAKER_01]: Is he a cosmic?
• 1:03:39
  [SPEAKER_01]: Is he camp?
• 1:03:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he kind of fits into all of
• 1:03:44
[SPEAKER_00]: He's definitely a horror comedy character, I feel like, because that does intersect a lot.
• 1:03:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Comedy has a very thin line between that and for, and that thin line is the punch line.
• 1:03:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, he does walk the lines.
• 1:03:59
  [SPEAKER_02]: all of them.
• 1:04:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd say, I mean, if I were to, you know, my personal opinion, more campy than anything, like sure horror, and he'd have ties like cosmic and supernatural, but it's more to say that campy character, I feel, who just found himself in those avenues and sort of, like, for through whatever happens to happen to sort of, he's lucky enough to sort of get those kinds of upgrades.
• 1:04:19
  [SPEAKER_02]: So that makes sense.
• 1:04:20
  [SPEAKER_02]: You know,
• 1:04:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the thing I like most about this character is he's just as let this free flag fly, right?
• 1:04:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's just he knows he's fucking weird and he just loves what he loves and if that's cut out eyeballs and rolling around naked at him and watching people kill each other then he's just living his best life and he doesn't understand why people don't let him just do this thing Like you can't cake things this guy.
• 1:04:40
  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's possible.
• 1:04:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean we can't and we will
• 1:04:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I almost like the idea of him having some sort of cosmic destiny, like we don't know about his specific origins, but like humble circumstances risen to the level of Godhood, right?
• 1:04:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's been noticed by demons and other worldly entities and devils and cosmic forces, right?
• 1:05:05
[SPEAKER_01]: There's something interesting about like his potential, but he's kind of pathetic at his core.
• 1:05:11
[SPEAKER_01]: The first orb, it definitely wears the camp supervillains suit a little bit more.
• 1:05:16
  [SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
• 1:05:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the idea of him being like if I'm tossing I can orange and story out like he's the child of Agamado who has the eyes Right like he's got like the godly heritage and was born as like a weird cosmic accident You know, I think there's some really interesting things that you could do with him with magic as well Right we've been we we talked about I boy in the I boy episode lia Williams like turned I boy toward magic which is interesting
• 1:05:42
[SPEAKER_01]: This character and his relationship with Schumagraph or exterminatrix or Lilith or the mindless ones, he's a ghostwriter villain, he's a doctor strange villain, he's a Nick Fury villain, and then he's just kind of whoever punches the most reading all of the what I read, it seemed like Jason Aaron was giving him the big push, you know, sort of like in sort of real life.
• 1:06:03
[SPEAKER_02]: would he have, you know, ascended as far as he did sort of sort of on his own, hard to say, but where do we go from here?
• 1:06:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's left in a very interesting place in hell talking if it says ear off.
• 1:06:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Mifister kicks him out.
• 1:06:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he becomes sort of a more demonic entity for that reason.
• 1:06:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe maybe in sort of a more like comedic way, like Mifister's like, you know what, if I just make you a ghost writer or some kind of
• 1:06:26
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, give you some kind of crazy, you know, evil powers and it's like, well, that satisfy you and just get you out of here, you know, nobody likes this character, everyone is disgusted by him universally, multi-versally, right?
• 1:06:39
[SPEAKER_00]: And very understandly, because in like one of the images, okay, you can see that his eyeball actually drips a little bit every now and again, and it's, I don't think I would want to be around this guy for too long.
• 1:06:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Even an orb can cry, I see me.
• 1:06:56
[SPEAKER_00]: I do like the idea that he is was constantly born in some way.
• 1:07:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, like you said, how demigods and the born and take on the features or odd feature.
• 1:07:06
[SPEAKER_00]: that could have come from their parent because we see this a lot with like um who's oh my god i'm thinking of rainson clear right now in her kid who she had even like here yes even a lot me looks of course like his mother as well it's still like his weird birth where he was burnt out of her mouth and everything i i think this guy kind of fits into it and even looking into the original sin story seeing that the watchers just kind of let it happen that his that the
• 1:07:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of pushed forth this guy coming into the picture.
• 1:07:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, the watchers are there at the end of original sin to punish those that hurt you out to right So Nick Fury gets one punishment and the orb gets the other It's almost seen as a punishment, but the orb does not seem to upset about it at all He's thinking it's just happy to be weird like oh, look can you eyeball?
• 1:07:56
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't really have any key relationships either, which is interesting to me.
• 1:08:00
[SPEAKER_01]: He almost reads as a little Well, I don't know.
• 1:08:02
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's definitely sociopathic.
• 1:08:04
  [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
• 1:08:04
[SPEAKER_01]: This is an interesting character I could write this character and I don't know that I need him as the protagonist nor do we necessarily need to Amphl him up to like cosmic levels, but I do think he's an interesting villain and I think he can fulfill a villain art I want to write him fighting like an X team
• 1:08:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And like boom boom is for sure on the team because she is so upset Jubilee is barfing in the corner You know what I mean like this is Leo Williams writing the orb fighting the exterminators right like is oh like that story is like
• 1:08:36
  [SPEAKER_01]: I would live.
• 1:08:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, or versus I boy is also hilarious to me, but I kind of like if he's disgusting.
• 1:08:43
  [SPEAKER_01]: He's one of Marvel's grossest.
• 1:08:45
[SPEAKER_01]: What grossed you out the most today if we have one single thing, it's the nails puncturing the eye for me like that was that was the moment that I was like nope, but the beach ball filled with tapioca.
• 1:08:58
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's mine.
• 1:09:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Minds that to be the fusing of the eye to the chest.
• 1:09:03
  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, one eye perfect.
• 1:09:05
  [SPEAKER_00]: You're fine.
• 1:09:06
  [SPEAKER_00]: You're great.
• 1:09:06
[SPEAKER_00]: You're great character design that second eye and all the tendrils along with it.
• 1:09:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it that boba comparison was really disturbing.
• 1:09:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Next time I drink boba I'm going to just like, well, nope.
• 1:09:19
  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sorry everybody.
• 1:09:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Tom was like, I'm so excited to do another show and now you feel in Tom, you know, just a little crazy.
• 1:09:29
  [SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
• 1:09:30
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and that's the orb everyone hilarious.
