- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning. I'm actually in the garage.
- 0:32You're going to laugh about that.
- 0:33I'm in the garage because it's raining and it's really cold and
- 0:37I am being a baby and the chickens are not even awake, so
- 0:41it's so dark. So I'm in the garage and I am
- 0:45talking to you today about a really cool part of the end of
- 0:49the year for me because I think I like, I love to share tips and
- 0:53tricks that I do for myself. And one of these things,
- 0:56obviously we talk about vision boarding and we talk about, you
- 1:00know, planning your year and going through and mapping things
- 1:03out. And I have not started working
- 1:05on that portion. I usually do that between
- 1:09Christmas and New Year. That week is kind of like my
- 1:12planning week and I like to kind of keep it sacred and set it U
- 1:15that way. And I haven't started.
- 1:17I have started pulling little pieces together of ideas, things
- 1:20I've been working with my assistant and pulling stuff out
- 1:24about what we want to do. But one of the things that I
- 1:26really, really like to do this time of year is start pulling my
- 1:30book list together and seeing what are the books that I know
- 1:34I'm going to want to read and order them ahead of time and
- 1:37have them all set up. Now part of the method to the
- 1:41madness, somebody might say, we'll buy the book as soon as
- 1:43you are going to read it or go to the library and get it.
- 1:46But I have a thought on this. So I order the books ahead of
- 1:50time so that I can pile them up and I can see what I'm supposed
- 1:54to be doing. And I put little notes on them
- 1:57to tell me like little flags on the side.
- 1:59OK, this is the January book. This is the February book.
- 2:02I like to flag them so that I can make sure I'm on task with
- 2:06keeping up with that. Now these doing this project is
- 2:11a complete task of joy for me. It's not a chore.
- 2:15So I'm not scheduling them to make them a chore.
- 2:19I think that's what's really important to remember.
- 2:21I'm not scheduling to give myself another damn To Do List.
- 2:24What I'm doing is setting up my bumps of joy.
- 2:28So if I'm going to read something that's going to be
- 2:30more challenging to read, let's say if it's if I'm studying
- 2:35heavy stuff, I don't want to have another heavy one right
- 2:39after that. I want to have something that's
- 2:41a little bit lighter, something to do with gardening, growing,
- 2:44that kind of thing because that lifts me up in a different way.
- 2:47So I like to balance them. And this year most of the books
- 2:51that I read, Full disclosure, are always learning books.
- 2:54They're I don't like to waste time reading what I would say
- 2:58fiction books. Like I think, oh, I can't waste
- 3:00my time doing that. But this year, thanks to a
- 3:03client of mine who really said to me that she read a couple of
- 3:06really fantastic books that were fiction, I was like, OK, I'm
- 3:11going to do it. And I put some on my list and
- 3:14everything is ordered. And now I've got things that are
- 3:17coming. And I downloaded some into my
- 3:20Kindle as well. Because sometimes I like to have
- 3:23a Kindle version of it. And then I know I'm going to be
- 3:26able to take it with me easier wherever I go.
- 3:28So I, I try to balance this all out is my point.
- 3:33But the reading adventure for the year is what is the plan for
- 3:38today to talk to you about plan your reading adventure for the
- 3:41year. What do you want to take in for
- 3:44the year? Like if you picked a theme for
- 3:46the year or a word for the year, lots of people love to do that.
- 3:49If you have done it, are you aligning your books with that?
- 3:53Are you aligning up what you're going to learn with that or take
- 3:57in from that, enhance with that? Whatever it might be, go do a
- 4:02book adventure now. Another great track track to
- 4:06take with this is to go to Barnes and Noble or a physical
- 4:09bookstore and sit in the bookstore and look around.
- 4:13Order your magazine subscription for the year so you know you're
- 4:16getting your magazines. If you love to still get
- 4:19magazines, which I do. I just don't like to order them
- 4:22because the mail destroys them. So it annoys me.
- 4:26I like to get them at the bookstore, pay more for them,
- 4:29whatever. I just don't want them all
- 4:31dented. So me nerding out on that.
- 4:34But I, I have that all laid out as well.
- 4:37So I know exactly what I'm going to be clipping from my magazine,
- 4:41saving for my vision boards, what I'm going to be be
- 4:43learning, what I'm going to be tucking in, all of it.
- 4:46It's all laid out ahead of time. And it really does make you feel
- 4:49so empowered to know that. And it also puts you on such a
- 4:53great path because then you can start planning.
- 4:55OK, I, I want to make time every single day to read, to learn to
- 5:01go into that. And making that time every
- 5:03single day, even if it's 15 minutes is so important.
- 5:07Now there are apps that you can use as well.
- 5:09I do have a few apps that I love that are basically Cliff Notes
- 5:14for adults. And no, this is not something
- 5:16that I get paid to talk about, but I do use Headway and I do
- 5:19use summary because I like getting the the Cliff Note
- 5:24version of books sometimes just to know what's in them before I
- 5:27buy them and dedicate myself to them.
- 5:29So there's always that option as well.
- 5:31But plan your reading year ahead of time.
- 5:33I promise you it will give you such a feeling of joy at the end
- 5:37of the year you can't imagine. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:40you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:41Bye.
