Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Drop it. Big 98.7.
- 0:05Speaker 2: All right, Girl Scouts just dropped their 2027 cookie lineup,
- 0:09Speaker 2: and there are two additions this year. They have an
- 0:12Speaker 2: allergy-friendly cookie, and they have a cookie for your dog.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's cool.
- 0:18Speaker 3: They got like a pet-friendly cookie, which I think is
- 0:21Speaker 3: really cool.
- 0:21Speaker 1: That's really dope.
- 0:22Speaker 2: So naturally, I went home, thought of some very fake
- 0:26Speaker 2: Girl Scout cookie names in the shower, and brought them
- 0:29Speaker 2: to you here today, Angie.
- 0:30Speaker 3: I've got a list of real Girl Scout cookies.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:32Speaker 3: And obviously some fake ones that I've made up.
- 0:35Speaker 4: I will tell you this because I am vegan.
- 0:39Speaker 1: The only truly the only.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Girl Scout cookie that I like know is thin mints.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Because those are the vegan cookies.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Oh, most popular, yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so other than that, I don't know. You can
- 0:49Speaker 1: probably tell me anything and I'd believe it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I do wonder if you're riding in the car
- 0:53Speaker 2: right now and you have any association with the Girl Scouts.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I feel like you'll know instantly the ones I've made
- 1:00Speaker 2: up and the ones I haven't. But you do not
- 1:01Speaker 2: have any Girl Scout affiliation.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Nope. Okay. All right, Angie.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Well, we'll start out with an easy one for you.
- 1:08Speaker 2: We'll warm it up a little bit. Girl Scout sparkables.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Are those real or are those fake? Oh, I know
- 1:15Speaker 2: those are real. I know those are real. That's the
- 1:18Speaker 2: new one, right?
- 1:19Speaker 3: That is correct.
- 1:20Speaker 2: It's the new allergy-friendly cookie made in partnership with Partake.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It debuts in the 2027 season. It's also the first
- 1:27Speaker 2: cookie I mentioned when we started talking here this morning.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And it's vegan. The only reason I know that name.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Is it really?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yes, because it happens to be vegan based on it
- 1:37Speaker 1: being allergy-friendly.
- 1:39Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:39Speaker 2: What about this cookie, Angie? Adventurefuls. Is that real or fake?
- 1:45Speaker 1: That sounds like you made that up.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Well, that would be incorrect. This is real, Angie.
- 1:49Speaker 2: It's a brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored cream and a hint
- 1:53Speaker 2: of sea salt.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Adventureful?
- 1:57Speaker 3: Adventureful.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Well, I was wrong.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:01Speaker 2: What about Smallo Scouts? Is that a real Girl Scout
- 2:06Speaker 2: cookie or fake?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Smallo Scouts? Smallo Scouts.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I'm going to say it's real and it's like a
- 2:11Speaker 4: marshmallow thing.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Well, if it's real, I don't know about it. I
- 2:14Speaker 2: thought I made that one up. So that would be incorrect.
- 2:18Speaker 2: The small scouts.
- 2:19Speaker 4: All right.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I have just a couple more for you here, Angie,
- 2:21Speaker 2: if you just tuned in this morning. Wait, so am
- 2:22Speaker 2: I just wrong?
- 2:23Speaker 1: What am I, one for three?
- 2:25Speaker 3: One for three.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And the one you got right was the one we
- 2:28Speaker 2: started talking about at the beginning of the story. So
- 2:30Speaker 2: if you're just tuning in, Girl Scouts, they dropped their
- 2:33Speaker 2: 2027 cookie lineup.
- 2:35Speaker 3: So we're finding out.
- 2:36Speaker 2: If they're going to borrow any of these fake Girl
- 2:38Speaker 2: Scout cookie names that I have created for Angie.
- 2:40Speaker 3: All right, Angie, what about Lemon Ups?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Lemon Ups.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Lemon Ups. Is that a real Girl Scout cookie or
- 2:47Speaker 3: a fake one? That's fake.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I feel like they're lemonades, no?
- 2:54Speaker 3: Lemon Ups is real.
- 2:55Speaker 2: It's a lemon-flavored cookie stamped with an inspirational message to
- 2:59Speaker 2: encourage girls to dream big.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:02Speaker 1: To uplift Lemon Up. Gosh dang it. I'm so bad
- 3:06Speaker 1: at this.
- 3:06Speaker 3: We are struggling here. All right, Angie.
- 3:08Speaker 2: What about this? Bacon badges. No, that's a Gabe original, right?
- 3:15Speaker 3: All right. I've made that one up.
- 3:18Speaker 4: All right.
- 3:18Speaker 2: I have two more for you here, Angie. What about
- 3:22Speaker 2: let's go with toffee tastics.
- 3:25Speaker 1: If adventureful is real, then so is toffee-tastic.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Toffee-tastic is a gluten-free cookie packed with rich, buttery toffee bits.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And I'm kind of glad I've learned about these.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I have a daughter who is now 55 or whatever
- 3:40Speaker 2: days old.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Maybe she'll be a Girl Scout.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Oh, that would be cutie.
- 3:45Speaker 4: All right.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I got one more for you here, Angie.
- 3:47Speaker 2: What about campfire crunchies?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Are these real or did I make this up?
- 3:52Speaker 1: That sounds like you would make it up.
- 3:55Speaker 3: That is correct. I did make that up.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But, hey, Girl Scouts, if anyone's listening and you want
- 4:00Speaker 2: to borrow some of these names, I got a plethora
- 4:02Speaker 2: of these in the back pocket.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I would buy a Campfire Crunchy.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Celebrating life's little victories victory every morning we practice gratitude
- 4:13Speaker 5: on big 98.7 if i could i would keep this
- 4:17Speaker 5: feeling in a plastic jar busted out whenever someone's acting
- 4:20Speaker 5: hard i just really needed to win you know share
- 4:23Speaker 5: your little victories with us at 701-280-1987 angie.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Do you have a little victory for us on this
- 4:30Speaker 3: thursday One.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Thing I like about my family is that we are
- 4:33Speaker 4: an unserious people. And so yesterday, you remember the game
- 4:39Speaker 4: Crash Bandicoot?
- 4:40Speaker 3: I do.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 1: OK, well, that came.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Out 30 years ago yesterday. So we had a pizza
- 4:48Speaker 4: party birthday party for Crash.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Bandicoot in my home yesterday.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That is wonderful.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Liam has a Crash Bandicoot plushie. I hung up a
- 4:58Speaker 4: happy birthday sign, got a cake. Did the candles and
- 5:03Speaker 4: ordered some pizza and we celebrated Crash Bandicoot's dirty 30.
- 5:09Speaker 4: The more ridiculous thing is that this is not the
- 5:12Speaker 4: first time that we have celebrated Crash Bandicoot's birthday. We
- 5:16Speaker 4: celebrated his 28th a couple of years ago because it
- 5:19Speaker 4: was early September and we just happened to look up
- 5:22Speaker 4: when that. Crash Bandicoot came out and we realized like,
- 5:26Speaker 4: that's in like two weeks.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Okay, let's celebrate his birthday.
- 5:30Speaker 4: So then this year I was like, well, we got
- 5:32Speaker 4: to do it again because it's his dirty 30. All
- 5:34Speaker 4: that to say we are an unserious family, but we
- 5:37Speaker 4: had a good time celebrating.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I love that story. Gosh, I remember Crash Bandicoot. I
- 5:41Speaker 2: think Sony, that was their... I don't know, alternative to
- 5:47Speaker 2: Super Mario and Sonic for Nintendo and Sega or whatever.
- 5:53Speaker 2: But many hours wasted playing Crash Bandicoot growing up.
- 5:56Speaker 3: God, what a time.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Well, he's 30, baby.
- 5:59Speaker 3: What a time.
- 6:00Speaker 2: My little victory, I have two. Number one, I'm all
- 6:03Speaker 2: caught up on Ted... Oh my gosh, I'm not.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So don't say anything. All right, I won't.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I had missed. I forgot what happened.
- 6:09Speaker 2: We had a busy like Wednesday because that's when the
- 6:12Speaker 2: show comes out last week. And we just kind of
- 6:15Speaker 2: sort of forgot to watch it. And then we realized, oh, yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 2: we got to watch an episode of Ted Lasso. And
- 6:21Speaker 2: then we waited till Wednesday. Like, oh, let's just do
- 6:24Speaker 2: two of them on Wednesday.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah, the only one I haven't seen is this one
- 6:28Speaker 4: that just came out yesterday.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But you're all caught up. Oh, I'm so jealous.
- 6:32Speaker 3: All caught up.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And then there was this little victory I noticed I
- 6:35Speaker 2: had with my daughter, Kaylee, who is 56 or 55
- 6:40Speaker 2: days old, something like that.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I really like that you're keeping track by days, by
- 6:43Speaker 4: the way.
- 6:45Speaker 2: We have learned, or I have kind of learned, that
- 6:48Speaker 2: whichever parent has kind of... been with her the most
- 6:52Speaker 2: recent for a chunk of time.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 3: That's kind of sort of her favorite. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 2: For that moment or whatever. So my wife, who's on
- 7:00Speaker 2: maternity leave, is at home with her all day. And
- 7:02Speaker 2: so when dad gets home, she is still adorable and
- 7:05Speaker 2: sweet and yada, yada, yada. But it's a lot of,
- 7:07Speaker 2: you know, where's my mom.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Pretty much.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 2: And so yesterday, Corey had... She was just really, really tired.
- 7:14Speaker 2: She had a rough night one night, and Corey powered
- 7:16Speaker 2: through it by herself, which was wonderful. She didn't wake
- 7:18Speaker 2: me up. And then she just needed a nap. So yesterday,
- 7:23Speaker 2: I was like, all right, when I get home... Into
- 7:26Speaker 2: the room you go. We're going to shut that door
- 7:28Speaker 2: and I'll just dad duty this whole afternoon solo, which
- 7:32Speaker 2: obviously I'm very capable of doing.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So I had spent a.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Long time of one on one time with my daughter
- 7:38Speaker 2: hanging out and, you know, napping and all the things
- 7:41Speaker 2: babies do. Well, then mom, it's like she awakens from
- 7:45Speaker 2: this tavernous cave, you know, coming out of the room.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And my daughter spent a lot more time looking for dad.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Where's dad? And it was very good. It was a
- 7:55Speaker 2: very big W for me. It was pretty sweet. Now,
- 8:01Speaker 2: if you don't know this, there's a unofficial. It's not
- 8:04Speaker 2: a real record. It's an unofficial record. But we are
- 8:07Speaker 2: trying to beat it here on Big 98.7. The unofficial
- 8:11Speaker 2: record for the card game called War was 43 hours
- 8:15Speaker 2: and 35 minutes. It's a very simple card game. You
- 8:18Speaker 2: play with one other person. You play with 100 people
- 8:21Speaker 2: in theory. You just put out three cards.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Yep.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Each person flips over a card. Whoever has the highest
- 8:27Speaker 2: card wins. wins and i want to try to break
- 8:30Speaker 2: this 43 hours angie we are on day two of
- 8:33Speaker 2: trying to break this unofficial big 98.7 official world record.
- 8:38Speaker 4: And just so you know we're not cheating we are
- 8:42Speaker 4: on instagram live right now for big 98.7 so big
- 8:47Speaker 4: 987 fm on instagram so you can follow around So
- 8:51Speaker 4: I have my three cards in front of me and
- 8:54Speaker 4: I did poorly yesterday and I lost the hand. So
- 8:58Speaker 4: I'm asking you to help me. Which card do I choose?
- 9:02Speaker 4: There's three in front of me. Bow Graphic Design says
- 9:07Speaker 4: I should choose the middle card.
- 9:09Speaker 3: OK, what do you got in the middle, Angie?
- 9:11Speaker 1: In the middle, we've got a six.
- 9:15Speaker 3: A six? Okay.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So if you are riding in your car, it's you
- 9:19Speaker 2: and Angie versus me, basically.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Angie has a six. She went with the middle.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Thank you to Bow Graphic Designs for chiming on in
- 9:26Speaker 2: on our Instagram live.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I will go with the far right card. Angie, here
- 9:32Speaker 3: is my card.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Oh, it's a five, which means you're a loser.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I lose today. We continue this game.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Well, hopefully at least 43 hour and 35 minute card
- 9:45Speaker 2: game tomorrow on Big 98.7.
- 9:47Speaker 3: So, wow, Angie.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And if you're hanging out with us as one one hand,
- 9:51Speaker 2: I have won one hand.
- 9:52Speaker 3: It's tied.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Hopefully we continue doing this as this record gets closer
- 9:57Speaker 2: and closer to being broken here on Big 98.7. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: don't know what it is, but I'm always trying to
- 10:05Speaker 2: find things to look forward to.
- 10:08Speaker 3: And as the summer.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I think you should go to therapy for that.
- 10:11Speaker 2: As the summer kind of winds down, I don't know
- 10:14Speaker 2: what it is. There's something about... All right, fall is next.
- 10:18Speaker 2: What am I doing in fall? There's no real, like,
- 10:21Speaker 2: I mean, I know we just had Labor Day, but
- 10:23Speaker 2: now it's like there's no holiday until Halloween. And then,
- 10:26Speaker 2: you know, the holidays, we really start kind of cranking
- 10:29Speaker 2: them out there. But I was wondering, with summer winding down,
- 10:33Speaker 2: what life event are you looking forward to next? Are
- 10:36Speaker 2: you maybe going to see the Foo Fighters in the
- 10:39Speaker 2: Fargo Dome on Saturday?
- 10:40Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Do you have one last, like, cabin weekend coming up?
- 10:45Speaker 2: Maybe you go to the cabin in the fall and winter.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Whatever the answer is, give us some plans here this morning.
- 10:51Speaker 3: 701-280-1987. I am excited.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I have a buddy's bachelor party that I will be
- 10:56Speaker 2: going to next weekend. I also have, obviously, the wedding
- 11:00Speaker 2: is the follow-up to that in early October, which I
- 11:03Speaker 2: am in, and I'm looking forward to that. So I
- 11:06Speaker 2: do have a couple things planned. big life events that
- 11:08Speaker 2: i get to be a part of that i'm looking
- 11:10Speaker 2: forward to but the one thing that always brings me
- 11:13Speaker 2: back to even keel instead of i'm sad summer's over
- 11:17Speaker 2: is uh flannel fridays oh that's right they return in october.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Realistically because sometimes the weather don't be cooperating realistically what
- 11:27Speaker 4: would you say would be our first flannel friday.
- 11:32Speaker 3: That's usually when it starts getting like low 60s, 50s.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I know, but I'm saying like she temperamental. We might not.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I can't tell you what the weather will be like
- 11:42Speaker 2: that first weekend in October.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I feel like we need to have like an official.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Why don't we do October 9th?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Okay, the second weekend in October?
- 11:49Speaker 1: The second weekend in October.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Because I won't be here the first Friday.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Exactly, and I'm not wearing a flannel solo.
- 11:54Speaker 3: All right, okay. I'll do that. All right, October 9th,
- 11:57Speaker 3: we can look forward to that.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, mark that on your calendar, flannel Friday. I'm looking
- 12:01Speaker 4: forward to next weekend. I'm out of town for a
- 12:03Speaker 4: friend's 40th birthday. All right. I also don't love that, like,
- 12:06Speaker 4: I'm in the season where all my friends and myself are, like,
- 12:09Speaker 4: hitting the big 4-0, but whatever. We celebrate nonetheless because
- 12:13Speaker 4: it just means we haven't died yet, so that's great.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And then Aiden, my... Oh, my gosh. My son, he's going.
- 12:19Speaker 4: To be 16 in October, so we're going to do
- 12:22Speaker 4: a Disney trip.
- 12:23Speaker 1: But, wow, 16.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I had no business having a baby 16 years ago.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'll tell you that right now.
- 12:29Speaker 2: He is looking forward to that license, I think, a
- 12:32Speaker 2: next life.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Event for him.
- 12:33Speaker 1: No, I don't like that.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I do love what Kate said on Facebook. Bonfires, trips
- 12:38Speaker 2: to Minnesota to look at leaves and wearing my hoodie.
- 12:42Speaker 3: A fall bonfire just hits different.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh, it really does.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I actually can hear the crowd. of the fire right now.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Laura texted us saying the same thing that she's excited
- 12:51Speaker 4: for bonfires when it's not a million degrees outside.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, we had Marla who said football. Sherry said hockey. Linda,
- 12:59Speaker 2: s'mores outdoors. That's the same thing. That chocolate and marshmallow
- 13:02Speaker 2: and graham cracker. It tastes better in October than it
- 13:06Speaker 2: does in July. I don't know why. I don't know how,
- 13:09Speaker 2: but it does. And then finally, this one's from David.
- 13:11Speaker 2: He said the NFL is back. So football, of course,
- 13:15Speaker 2: but small town Oktoberfest weekend after small town cleanup junk
- 13:19Speaker 2: removal day weekend after that small town jamboree followed by
- 13:22Speaker 2: two weekends of recovery and rest before brother's wedding.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Then Halloween. He also added, if you need me, I'll
- 13:28Speaker 3: just be here in the comments.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Big 98.7. This is Am I the Problem?
- 13:40Speaker 5: We'll hear one side of the story, and with your help,
- 13:45Speaker 5: decide if it's right or if maybe you're the problem.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That's right.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I am the problem.
- 13:51Speaker 1: On Big 98.7.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Now, Angie, before you dive on into am I the problem,
- 13:55Speaker 2: will you do me a favor? I know that this
- 13:57Speaker 2: email is from a guy asking about bro code.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And could you bust out your best dude voice impression?
- 14:06Speaker 2: I don't know if this has been shared yet on
- 14:08Speaker 2: Big 98.7, but it makes me laugh every time.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Can you hit me with your dude?
- 14:12Speaker 1: Okay, so this is Blake wrote in to us.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:15Speaker 4: What's up, guys? My buddy is accusing me of going
- 14:18Speaker 4: against bro code. A few years ago, he had a
- 14:22Speaker 4: crush on this girl in college for like two years.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And when he finally asked her out, she wasn't into it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Them's the breaks, dude.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Last week, I ran into this girl at bingo and
- 14:32Speaker 4: we were talking, whatever, whatever. Got each other snap and
- 14:35Speaker 4: we're going to go out for food or something. Told
- 14:38Speaker 4: one of my buddies and he told the buddy who
- 14:40Speaker 4: had a crush back in the day and he's hella
- 14:43Speaker 4: mad saying I broke bro code.
- 14:44Speaker 1: College ended three years ago, my guy. Am I wrong here?
- 14:48Speaker 2: Ha ha ha.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Where does the inspiration for that stem from? I have
- 14:53Speaker 3: no idea. Every time you do a dude, that's the voice.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That's the voice that comes out.
- 14:56Speaker 4: But seriously, Blake, did he break bro code by setting
- 15:01Speaker 4: up a date with this girl that his buddy liked
- 15:04Speaker 4: back in the day in college? Yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 1: What do you think, Gabe?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Well, it feels like this might be an area where
- 15:11Speaker 2: we're at the statue.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Is it statue or statute?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Statute. Of limitations? Of limitations.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 3: At some point.
- 15:19Speaker 2: You don't get to just like a girl for all
- 15:22Speaker 2: of life and she's off limits to any person you know.
- 15:25Speaker 2: That's not how that works. I do think it might
- 15:28Speaker 2: also depend on how good of a buddy it is.
- 15:30Speaker 2: If the relationship with the girl is more important than
- 15:34Speaker 2: your relationship with your buddy. Yeah, he probably isn't like
- 15:37Speaker 2: really that good of a friend. So who cares anyway?
- 15:40Speaker 2: But if you're if it's like a lifelong friend, that
- 15:43Speaker 2: would be a little different in my opinion.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think it is. But also, who am I?
- 15:46Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Bro code. I know girl code.
- 15:48Speaker 4: I feel like if my friend I wasn't always this way.
- 15:52Speaker 4: I was kind of a piece of trash in middle school,
- 15:54Speaker 4: but I learned my lesson. And I feel like if
- 15:57Speaker 4: my friend likes a dude. immediately that puts up blockers
- 16:01Speaker 4: in my brain. Like, I don't like that guy. You
- 16:03Speaker 4: got the beta blockers.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yes, exactly.
- 16:06Speaker 4: I don't like that guy if my friend likes him
- 16:09Speaker 4: because I don't know if they will or they won't
- 16:11Speaker 4: or whatever. But the fact that I know my friend
- 16:12Speaker 4: is interested in a dude, that puts up the wall
- 16:15Speaker 4: for me. And I think it's weird that, like, do
- 16:19Speaker 4: bros not have that?
- 16:20Speaker 3: Well, if I'm, let's.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Say I'm a senior in high school and we have
- 16:25Speaker 2: this kind of unwritten rule Yes, at some point you
- 16:28Speaker 2: got to bro out and not go after some girl
- 16:32Speaker 2: your buddy likes.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:36Speaker 2: .
- 16:38Speaker 1: .
- 16:40Speaker 2: Oh, so what? You just get to call
- 16:43Speaker 2: dibs on the whole 12th grade?
- 16:44Speaker 3: No.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that doesn't.
- 16:46Speaker 3: That doesn't work?
- 16:46Speaker 4: That doesn't work. But specifically, this guy had a crush.
- 16:50Speaker 4: His friend had a crush on the girl for like
- 16:51Speaker 4: two years. And then he asked her if she rejected him.
- 16:55Speaker 4: And so that was deeply hurtful. So then it would
- 16:57Speaker 4: probably be really hurtful to see his friend then with
- 17:01Speaker 4: the girl.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I think that that's rude.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You got to toughen up, my guy. And you know
- 17:05Speaker 2: what I always say, Angie? In the dating world, it
- 17:08Speaker 2: is like fishing with a net. okay you throw out
- 17:12Speaker 2: that net and see how many fish you i'm not
- 17:15Speaker 2: saying date a billion people but i'm saying you gotta
- 17:17Speaker 2: move on and just go to the next one you
- 17:20Speaker 2: know how good rejection is for you you gotta go
- 17:22Speaker 2: through some adversity get rejected and just move on to
- 17:25Speaker 2: the next one you don't get to just dibs every
- 17:28Speaker 2: girl who's rejected you in your life i wouldn't date
- 17:30Speaker 2: anybody i've been rejected a billion times he only.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Dibs to the one okay What do you think? 701-280-1987.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Did Blake break bro code or is his buddy being
- 17:42Speaker 1: a little baby? Blake wants to know if he broke
- 17:51Speaker 1: bro code.
- 17:53Speaker 4: So there's a girl. He met up with her at Bingo.
- 17:57Speaker 4: They exchanged Snapchats, which is always very funny to me.
- 18:00Speaker 4: And they're going to go out. The thing is, back
- 18:03Speaker 4: in the day in college, his friend had a crush
- 18:06Speaker 4: on this girl.
- 18:07Speaker 1: He asked her out. She said no. And then, like,
- 18:09Speaker 1: life moved on.
- 18:11Speaker 4: And so now his friend is saying, no, you broke
- 18:13Speaker 4: bro code because I liked her first.
- 18:18Speaker 3: When you say it like that, it sounds pretty stupid.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Dig it, because did Blake break bro code? Say that
- 18:24Speaker 1: five times fast.
- 18:25Speaker 4: I think he did, because I just feel like if
- 18:28Speaker 4: your friend likes it, I don't understand why it is
- 18:30Speaker 4: so hard to find someone to be into who your
- 18:35Speaker 4: friend doesn't like. Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Well, Ashley said, well, I'm not a bro. Thank you
- 18:43Speaker 3: for that.
- 18:43Speaker 2: But it doesn't seem like anything has been broken. Sounds
- 18:47Speaker 2: like it's been years. Your buddy or your bro needs
- 18:50Speaker 2: to move on, which is where I'm at. At some point,
- 18:54Speaker 2: you got to end the, well, I liked her first.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Like at some point, there's a line in the sand
- 19:00Speaker 2: that needs to be drawn. We also had Taryn who
- 19:03Speaker 2: said three years and they didn't date. No code broken,
- 19:08Speaker 2: bro or not. She's not his property to make that call.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Oh, man, when you put it like that, I do
- 19:13Speaker 1: agree with that. I do agree with that.
- 19:16Speaker 2: And there are some comments on here that I'm going
- 19:18Speaker 2: to paraphrase a little bit because I don't know if
- 19:20Speaker 2: I can fully share them, how they're written.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Oh, gosh. Well, if you want to see them, head
- 19:25Speaker 1: to the Facebook page.
- 19:26Speaker 3: There's some comments.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Long story short, they're saying it sounds like your guy
- 19:31Speaker 2: friend sounds a little bit more like a girlfriend is
- 19:34Speaker 2: kind of what I'm getting at.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Hey, I don't like using being a girlfriend as a negative.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Well, you'll have to talk to Liz on 98.7's Facebook page.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Andrew said, you're not. He's just being a jealous puppy,
- 19:50Speaker 2: which is a nice way to sum it up.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I like that. That's fine.
- 19:53Speaker 4: I think you could probably literally go for anyone else, Blake.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But in the grand scheme of things, fine.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Traffic.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Oh, you're going to have to pay for the phone.
- 20:07Speaker 3: More like, how are you going to pay for this phone?
- 20:09Speaker 4: Yeah, so Apple introduced its new iPhone Duo, which is
- 20:14Speaker 4: a foldable phone.
- 20:15Speaker 1: And then the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max.
- 20:20Speaker 1: So here's the thing. Obviously, it's always going to be expensive.
- 20:23Speaker 4: As someone who literally is rocking an iPhone 14 that
- 20:26Speaker 4: was gifted to her because my iPhone 10 was just
- 20:29Speaker 4: not cutting it and he felt bad for me.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It was one of our bosses.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He was like, this is too sad.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Here's an iPhone 14.
- 20:38Speaker 4: I have not been privy really to what the actual
- 20:41Speaker 4: prices of phones are. iPhone 18 Pro, $ 1, 200. $ 1, 200.
- 20:46Speaker 1: iPhone 18 Pro Max, $ 1, 300.
- 20:47Speaker 4: The foldable iPhone Duo, $ 2, 000. And that's like starting at $ 2, 000.
- 20:56Speaker 1: If you want this foldable phone and like two terabytes
- 21:00Speaker 1: of whatever.
- 21:01Speaker 4: It's going to cost you $ 3, 300.
- 21:05Speaker 3: $ 3, 300? I'm not even kidding.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I think that is more than the first car I
- 21:10Speaker 2: got when I was 16 years old. A Chevy Cavalier
- 21:13Speaker 2: 1996 that I got in 2009 or something.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Well, yep, this foldable iPhone. And so the internet had
- 21:21Speaker 1: a lot of thoughts, obviously. Someone just put how much
- 21:25Speaker 1: in all caps because, yeah, how much?
- 21:28Speaker 4: So then they were showing like there's a breakdown. You
- 21:31Speaker 4: can do payment plans, right? But there's one for if
- 21:35Speaker 4: you're going to get the two terabyte iPhone.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Duo, you can buy it.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Starting at $ 3, 199, $ 133 a month for two years.
- 21:42Speaker 1: That sounds crazy. Like who is actually.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And then if it's like, well, but because of all
- 21:55Speaker 1: the capabilities.
- 21:56Speaker 4: By actual real camera equipment, like this is insanity to me.
- 22:01Speaker 4: To your point, Gabe, you used to be able to
- 22:03Speaker 4: get a used car for this price.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And then please select your.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Payment method for the iPhone Duo, American Express, MasterCard, Visa
- 22:14Speaker 4: or a kidney. Right.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It's what it's feeling like. Yeah, definitely.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 22:19Speaker 4: And then people are like stressed out about these trade
- 22:22Speaker 4: in values.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Because it's like, well, maybe I'll just trade in my iPhone.
- 22:25Speaker 3: My iPhone 17 and a half.
- 22:27Speaker 4: OK, I have an iPhone 14 that I do not
- 22:29Speaker 4: think is a pro max. But the iPhone 14 pro max,
- 22:33Speaker 4: if you traded it in, you could get up to.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Three hundred sixty dollars.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That's not terrible.
- 22:39Speaker 4: It's not making a dent if you're trying to buy
- 22:41Speaker 4: a two thousand dollar phone.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Like this is crazy.
- 22:45Speaker 4: And the thing is, Apple knows they can get away
- 22:48Speaker 4: with it because someone's going to buy it.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah, people will buy them for sure. I really would
- 22:54Speaker 2: like to see in my life, I feel like inventions
- 22:58Speaker 2: or new creations or advancements of things Are not how
- 23:03Speaker 2: they used to be. Didn't when we invented something that
- 23:06Speaker 2: people would use every day, they were like, hey, we
- 23:09Speaker 2: found a way how to make this cheaper, more affordable
- 23:12Speaker 2: and better. You know, like not everyone had a microwave
- 23:15Speaker 2: back in the day. Now you can't get a house
- 23:17Speaker 2: at all. It doesn't have a microwave.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 23:19Speaker 4: There was a time where it was like we've come
- 23:21Speaker 4: up with this.
- 23:22Speaker 1: New, improved thing. And in the very beginning, more expensive.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Just because until it was like, OK, everybody getting them.
- 23:28Speaker 4: And then.
- 23:29Speaker 1: The price drops. That literally never happens with phones.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Ever.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I will never have a new phone. Now, when I
- 23:36Speaker 2: really think about it, a new phone will never, ever be.
- 23:39Speaker 3: In my future. I don't think.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I don't think so either. I could never
- 23:45Speaker 2: justify $ 3, 200 on something I text, make phone calls on,
- 23:49Speaker 2: and scroll social media.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah. That's all I do with my phone.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Because even the lowest tier for the foldable one is $ 2, 000.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Realistically, if your kid asks you, For a new phone
- 24:01Speaker 4: for Christmas this year. Are you just going to go
- 24:04Speaker 4: get an Android?
- 24:11Speaker 5: Starting off the day with something good. This is Gabe's
- 24:15Speaker 5: Good News on Big 98.7.
- 24:18Speaker 2: West Fargo Eats is rolling out a mogul food pantry
- 24:22Speaker 2: next Thursday, September 17th from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m.
- 24:27Speaker 3: At the Lutheran Church of the Cross.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Free produce, groceries, even diapers for anyone who needs a
- 24:33Speaker 2: hand and get this from May to August alone. Their
- 24:37Speaker 2: pop-up events have served over 2,600 people and they've handed
- 24:42Speaker 2: out more than 34,000 pounds of food. That's neighbors taking
- 24:47Speaker 2: care of neighbors, if I've ever heard it. If you
- 24:49Speaker 2: or someone you know could use this, just remember, two
- 24:52Speaker 2: households per car, so there is enough to go around
- 24:55Speaker 2: for everybody, sir. I love this car. Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Nobody should go hungry.
- 25:00Speaker 1: That's like the big thing. So I love that.
- 25:02Speaker 3: They're doing this.
- 25:02Speaker 2: And once again, this is next Thursday, September 17th, four
- 25:06Speaker 2: 30 to five 30 at Lutheran church of the cross.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I love the idea of diapers. being included in there.
- 25:14Speaker 2: You never realize or even think how expensive diapers are
- 25:18Speaker 2: until you have to start buying them.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And you're like, what am I going to do?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Diapers, formula, and feminine hygiene products.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right. So take advantage of that if you
- 25:28Speaker 2: need help and could use it. The world is full
- 25:30Speaker 2: of nice people. If you can't find one, you got
- 25:32Speaker 2: to be one. And don't forget, broken crayons, they still color.
