Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Can't tell you how many times I've implemented some process.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: The intent was to make things better.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: But when we released it into the wild, everything hit the fan, everything was uh more work.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And what I thought was going to happen and what actually happened were two different things, and mostly it was frustrating.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Well, you can chalk it up to well, that was beta version, that was the first try.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: But in the process, I've spent, I've made this mistake, and I'm sure you have too.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I've spent a year building something and making all sorts of iterations, but only to realize later on that it wasn't received or wasn't perceived as valuable as uh was clear to me in my head, but it wasn't to the folks I was wanting to make things better for.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And that's because I had things misaligned.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And so today's stop automating your misery.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Why efficiency is sabotaging your future?
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Well, that's what today we're going to talk about.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: What I was missing, and what most people are missing, and what they don't realize is you're designing in the middle of a storm.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: You're repairing something, you're wanting to improve something, but you're in the middle of a journey, you're in the middle of a storm.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And yes, what you're doing is not bad, but when you balance it and when you see if it's congruent with where your overarching vision is, where you want to arrive, and your vision for things, your where your business is leading you for where you want to personally be, oftentimes these things are misaligned.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And so we're frustrated because we reached a destination, but it wasn't what you wanted.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So this is called the clear destination framework.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: So today we're going to stop this cycle of chaotic drift.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Chaotic drift is where you're building in the storm, where you're you're building and you and it's good and you should try to improve things, but when you back up and don't see where it fits into the overall picture, that's where most people misstep.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: That's where I've done it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And so efficiency without direction is just drifting, and you're just drifting to that destination faster.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And so today's four-stage framework is extract your vision.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: How we're going to do that, use AI to interview you, upload your raw truth, all the pieces that need to be considered to give it context, and then analyze, analyze your your kind of your short-term plan.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Is it going to create friction or is it going to grease the rails?
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: And then guess what?
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: All right, great.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I've got a plan, it's configured, it's clear, but I need to visually communicate this to my team.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: And that's where Google Notebook, actually, Gemini Notebooks, what they call it now.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Used to be a notebook LM.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: It's Gemini Notebook.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: So you got to be on your toes when you're working with these tools from Google.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Hey, if you get value of all this, like this, like, subscribe.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: It helps me, it helps it show up in front of people who would appreciate these sessions.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And then we're off to the races.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So escaping the drift, a system that will execute the process to end up in the destination that's in your head.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And what's the hardest challenge for every leader to accomplish is to communicate clearly all these great things in your head.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: How do you get it on paper in a visual to lead a team to the right place?
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: They want to follow, but usually they're heading to the wrong place.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: So, as we talked about, when you do this, what's at risk?
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: The risk is that you're going to go somewhere faster, you're going to create more friction, more frustration, and somebody's going to end up burning their gears, and it's usually your fault.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And so if you're going to take ownership and you're going to lead, you have to be clear in where you're leading.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So here we go.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: So leaders fail by handing over the keys before they work on clarity.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So this is kind of a theme that I've been working on.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: So you hire great people, you sign up or implement a great tool.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: That sounds great.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: So you're the people that you hire, they've got a good resume, they have the capabilities, they can get you there.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: This AI tool, you review the website, everything's it's there to fix a problem.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: It's a problem that you have and you want to solve.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: But when you implement these things, you wonder why, why it didn't happen as you imagined.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: And so much like this, you're driving blind.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: You're you're going fast, but you have the blindfold on, and we don't fail for lack of tools, staff, or prompts.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: But when we hand the keys over without clarity, then they're going to the destination they think is the right destination.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: But as you and I know, if we're guessing, most often we're wrong.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: And so everyone gets frustrated.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: We end up at the wrong destination.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: This has happened with clients.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: This has happened with um folks I've hired.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: This has happened in relationships, right?
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And so we got to be clear before we start.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So here's our X and Y axis.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: We're wanting to, we're wanting to go here.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: We're wanting to go to this zone.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: We want the goal of moving with maximum speed and force towards a named future.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: But generally, we we do improve somewhat, but we're in the drift zone.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: We're executing the life you have only faster to the danger zone.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Highway, highway to the danger zone.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: So we want to move from stagnation.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: We don't want to be in the dreamer zone.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Let's get to the strike zone here.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: So here's what we do stop drifting.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: The first job is not delegation, it's naming.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So we have to.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: This is in here twice.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: We have to extract your vision.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And so if we're going to implement the clear destination framework, first step, extract the vision, then upload all the materials that help you give everything context.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: This is how, all right, here's where I want to go.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Here's what I'm working with.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Here's the context behind everything.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: We want these two to be parallel or congruent, right?
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Then we want to analyze for what in my plan and what I'm working with here.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Do we have any areas that are misaligned?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: And once we get those cleared, then we can visually communicate.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: So step one.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: You know, I read all these great prompts of how to implement or use a tool to its fulfillment, and it'll it'll put in these uh step one, do this, step one, step two, do this, step three.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: But when you look at what step one requires, well, there's a whole lot to that, and so that's where most of these fail is because we're not doing the work to clarify exactly what step one would be.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And step one in this this uh process would be to tell our clear vision to the tool, but generally we don't have the clear vision where it just rolls off our lips, right?
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And so it doesn't roll off our tongue, and so why not let the machine interview you and let you just flow and think and ideate and let it take that messy input and help refine your vision, and so that that's what the beauty of these tools are.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: They'll never be creative like you, but it can help you, help you be clear on your creative vision.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: And so there's a prompt that you can use, it's in my newsletter, by the way.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: You but use the prompt to tell the tool, interview me until you're clear about my vision, and then pull out all the details of what I sell, who I serve, what my time, energy, and money and relationships, what do I want out of all of this, and use the voice dictation.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: These tools now, for example, Grok or Gemini, you can go and you can click on the microphone component, put your headphones in, go for a walk, and just tell it, interview me.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Here's a here's what I desire, here's what I'm trying to work out.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to think this through.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Why don't you interview me as an expert that's going to help me get my vision clear?
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Ask me all the questions you need to the point that you have what it what you need, and then let's get that cleaned up.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: So easy.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: It may take an hour, may take 30 minutes, depends on how you think and where you ramble, but just ramble, download it, do it during a walk, do it during a drive, just have that conversation with it, and it's amazing how how powerful that voice aspect of these tools are.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: So that's my secret tip right there.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: That's number one.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Then, then when you get that, all right, great.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: The tool is clear on what your vision is, what's important, why you do what you do, where where this will be fulfilling, what's the successful outcome, it'll interview with all of those questions, but then you need to give it context.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Here's where these tools are super powerful.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: When you hire someone and bring them into your organization, assuming they have good intent, they're engaged, they want to help you succeed, they don't know all your clients, they don't know all your products, they don't know your processes, they they don't know anything, but they are excited and they want to help and they want to contribute.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: But it but in reality, that's going to take a year.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: It's going to take a year for someone to really get all the backstory on all the aspects of what you do.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And so that's why it takes time, and that's why hiring someone who's a fail is so expensive if you don't get it right.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: But here's where the power of these uh large language models are is they, when you give them the product manuals, the website URLs, your Zoom meeting recordings and transcripts, your client onboarding documents, your products, whatever it is, whatever it is that they you want to upload, they immediately leapfrog that year.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: They now have all the context, they now understand all the details, and they understand your vision.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And so that's where the power in this system is.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: So don't be uh uh stingy, give it all the actual details, any kind of uh your website, your blogs, your frequently asked questions, your reviews, and then tell it, tell it to analyze.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: All right, here's my vision, here's my data, here's you know, even here, give it your uh your team's uh names, their LinkedIn profiles.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Help them under help it understand who's involved in this, and then go, all right, so where's the friction in my plan?
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: I have this intent.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: I remember the slide.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: We want to go, we want to get to in that that x-axis, we want to get to the strike zone, right?
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And so we want to make sure that we're asking the machine to analyze my plan, my vision.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Here's where we're going.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Where's my you know, where am I failing?
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Where's my where's the ditches you're gonna help me avoid?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: And so it that's where all of a sudden now you've got you're taking advantage of all this investment, of all these models, and you're applying it to now clearly communicate your desired vision.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: You you want to end up with an improved business model that's congruent with your desired lifestyle.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: That's where this can come in.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Then, all right, great.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: It's going to generate and give you all this great detail.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be it's gonna be very uh specific, it's gonna have a great outline.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: But we all know that when we go all excited to our team and go, here, here's the manual, there's 20 pages here, everybody read it.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Well, that's a very high expectation with a very high fail rate and a slow adoption.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Because what did you just ask that person to do is to go and digest that material, and then they're going to assimilate in various ways.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: So, even with that clarity of text, a clarity of a manual, they all have different uh comprehension levels, they all have different impressions.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: You're still at risk of friction, you're still at risk of slowing down on your the path to success.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: And so using the power of Gemini Notebook to visually give the plan, then that's the shortcut, that's the tiptoe method that will buy their brains that will communicate to them, oh, this is clear, this is, I can see where we're going.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Now I'm going to dig in a little bit and I'm going to uh see the details.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And so you buy, you earn access and you earn attention, and that brings an engagement.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: And so you want the beautiful superpower of Gemini Notebook is taking that complex data data and putting into persuasive visuals that sink in faster than writing.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: And that can be an infographic, it can be a slide deck, it can be a mind map, whatever the applicable model.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: I'll show you an example here in just a second.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: And so we want to name the point on the horizon.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: We want to make sure that it's aligned with your vision, with your why, who what you sell, who you serve, and make sure that it's aligned with also the life you're wanting to build.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And so now we're optimizing for the right destination, not the wrong destination.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: And you know, we all gonna get somewhere fast by utilizing these tools, but we want to get somewhere in the right area.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: So let me show you in uh Gemini Notebook.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Share my screen.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: So in this, inside of uh notebook.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: So here's where we would upload.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: This is your sources area.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: You're gonna upload all of those components, your interview.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: You're gonna upload the output and the coordination or the organization of your interview.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna upload that.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: You're gonna upload all those other your website URL.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: You can come in here, you can add your website URL, any files from your drive, from playbooks, from from copied text.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Anything you want to give it that will help it have that context background.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: This is where you're gonna give it in.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Put it in.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: This is a walled garden, your source of truth, and it's gonna become the area that the tool is going to focus on to generate all your clear paths that you're gonna communicate communicate powerfully in a visual context from your studio output.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: And so your studio output is determined by your input, and so we're gonna put all this messy stuff on.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Then we're gonna have an organization conversation over here.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: So we can expect you to have a little back and forth, get these things aligned, make sure it's up to speed, understand your intent, then you're gonna come over here and you're gonna pick your destination.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: So, for example, for this presentation today, this is where these visuals are coming from.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: So we have a visual.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Well, where did this visual come from?
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: Why was it so impactful?
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Why was it so powerful?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: It's because I gave it a very specific source, it had a very specific intent, and it's generating a clear output that sets you up to be a clear communicator.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: It's an amazing leadership uh lever.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: So that's where these uh presentations come from.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: A mind map.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: You can generate a mind map from this and give it the details.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: What is it that you want to do?
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: If you don't know what a mind map is, it just clearly takes all the pieces and puts it in an organized structure that makes it easy for someone to see all the components and where they fit in the picture.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Oftentimes we we say something or we share a visual, but then now we can start to get the specifics about each step.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Now, my map is just a beautiful way to organize concepts and steps in an interactive way.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: You got flashcards, infographics, data tables.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: These reports are amazing.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: These reports can you can create a briefing doc, a study study guide, you can write a blog post.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: There's a super powerful way.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Look at this strategic organizational transition roadmap, conceptual primer, procedural framework.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: These are a lot of details that you would never have time to get to, assuming that you felt confident in creating all of these.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: These take a lot of uh brain power.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: This can shortcut it and help you get first drafts that you can quickly treat, tweak.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: You can design a video overview or an audio overview, an interactive conversation about the concept that's being discussed in here.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: And then um, you know, here's where that infographic came.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: You can produce it in uh various forms, whether it be um I like to use the um um the um what's the word I'm I'm losing here.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I just love to use certain the style of a graphic novel because it's a story.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: We all grew up with a story, comic books, etc.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: And so we're already pre-uned to appreciate those.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: That's why I do that.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: So here's the here's the mind map, and so it outlines the problem, naming the future, execution process, and so here's the details efficiency without a destination.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: So you see how you got various tools that's applicable to whatever audience you need to serve.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: This Gemini Notebook is a leadership lever that you can exploit to help clearly communicate where you're going so that you're not drifting faster, right?
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: You're getting back, you're going to the destination you desire.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: All right, so wrapping it up here.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Let me get back to studio, stop sharing.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Hey, I made simple, man.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: There's a way to do this, there's a way to be successful.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: But your your superpower that Gemini uh notebook can help you do is clearly communicate your vision.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: But how do you get to the vision?
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: You follow the steps of this framework we discussed today.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Like, subscribe, tell your friends and neighbors.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: We'll see you next week on another episode of AI Made Simple.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: And that's a wrap.
